The familiar green bard before you took off his hat with a bow, sending a friendly wave towards the other three in the room, whom were sharing knowing glances. In the many times you recounted your story to them, the green bard remained consistent with each retelling. You spoke of him with the fondest eyes, and the siblings could almost feel the pure love the bard had for you even before meeting him themselves.

In a count of shock, you quietly excused the both of you to the fontainian siblings, before closing the door behind yourself.

The two of you went on an emotional and very much sentimental walk, reminding you of the days you would talk to Venti about your problems and your struggles. About how Diluc’s 180 change in personality once he came back from Snezhnaya was a scary turn of events. About how Kaeya’s icy attitude rivalled his vision, and how much it upset you. About how the knights and maids couldn’t seem to get off your ass, despite your best efforts at politely telling them to fuck off.

You reminisced about your time in Fontaine to the archon, and Venti only nod his head and gave you a smile as he walked alongside you, pretending that he hadn’t snuck into the nation countless times to check in on you. You spoke of your growing relationship with the Fatui member, and how the Hearth children had taken you in as one of their own. How Navia had taken you under her wing and you didn’t spend a cent whenever she was around. How you and the former Hydro Archon were each others comfort buddies whenever bad thoughts came to mind, and how you aided eachother into adapting to the new world around yourselves.

As you recited your amazing time spent in Fontaine, the more and more you realised to yourself that you really didn’t want to go home. In the moment, you wouldn’t have noticed it, but looking back on it, it was clear that was Venti’s intention the entire time. He knew you better than you knew yourself, and he could see the internal debate you had been having with yourself since the incident. And so, giving you the chance to clear your mind if the bad, you had come to the conclusion that you didn’t want to return to Mondstadt anytime soon.

“Mondstadt will always be the home of your birth, however it’s also the nation of Freedom. Freedom to fly wherever you want to go, and wherever you want to build your nest and settle down. No matter how long you stray from Mondstadt, it will always have a home waiting for you.”

Venti’s little speech had you in tears, and he opened up his arms just like all those years ago.

In a world full of uncertainty and the unknown, the arms of an angel would always be there to embrace you.

“At last, we’ve made it back to Fontaine!” Lyney practically combusts. Everyone around could see how dearly he was missing Fontaine, especially his twin sister who heard ALL about it.

“Hey (Y/N), wanna go for a dive later?” Freminet questions out of the blue, and you nod your head. You knew whenever he went into the ocean unexpectedly, in this case the second you got back from a LONG trip, that he had something private he wanted to discuss with you, and so you made sure to never decline.

As the day came to an end, you prepared your diving gear that freminet had ever so graciously bought you for your birthday (yk him being rich and all, fatui money goes hard) and met freminet at the rendezvous.

As he took your hand in his own, he guided into the water as he’d done dozens of times before. The oceans of Fontaine never seized to amaze you. Its gentle touch soothed your skin to the core, and as you descended into the depths of the ocean, Freminet never once let go of the grasp on his fingers.

The two of you enjoyed what the ocean had to offer you. Freminet tended to stick closer to the top of the water when you accompanied him, too paranoid to take you deeper as you weren’t as experienced as he was. Regardless, you continued admiring natures aquatic gifts. You found pearls, danced with domestic blubber beasts, picked flowers and located lost treasures. All the whole, Freminet was yet to let go of your hand, not because he was afraid of you running off, but because he simply refused to let go.

The skies soon turned dark, and signs of a storm were appearing, so Freminet was quick to escort you out of the water. What was originally subtle signs of a storm was now a full blown storm, and running back to the gates & all the way back to your home, all the while laughing your asses off, was having you fall further and further in love with every step you ran.

By the time you made it inside, the lighting was begging to strike & you immediately went to lighting a fire in order to help the both of you warm up. Freminet removed his cost he chucked over himself when collecting your left-behind gear, and it suddenly dawns on you how beautiful Freminet was on the outside. You always admired Freminet’s inner beauty, his charming and reserved nature, yet sticking up for himself and his own if needed, but you never really took the time to admire how gorgous he truly was. His hourglsss waist, his long golden hair, his long eyelashes, his slender thighs. His form captured your attention, and it didn’t take long for Freminet to catch your gaze.

“(Y/N), is there something on my face?” Freminet questions,

“Nah, come sit down by the fire, you just be freezing” you murmur out, patting the ground next to you.

The both of you sit in comforting silence, a common occurrence between the two of you. But for the first time, a bubbling urge rose from your stomach.

You wanted his lips.

You knew how he felt, and you had for awhile. Freminet kinda… sucked, at hiding his feelings for you, especially his ruined confession. And so, you decided to take the lead for once.

You slowly grabbed his chin, and his eyes widened in surprise. You slowly took his face in your hand, and tilted your head as you neared his face.

He didn’t take his eyes off you the entire ordeal, and as he closed his eyes, you took it as a sign to finally seal the deal.

You gently pecked his lips. It was somewhat quick and gentle, however when he leaned in and kissed you again, you couldn’t hold back any longer.

Freminet slowly moved into your lap, kissing you not with lust, but with passion. You grasped his slim waist and continued the assault of kisses on his face. The both of you continued your passionate yet loving make out session until you were both out of breath.

As you parted away from eachother, Freminet took your cheeks in his frigid hands and pecked your cheeks, before cuddling into your lap. Leaning against the couch, the both of you held eachother closley, absorbing eachother’s warmth.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited to do that” Freminet giggles, before cuddling closer into your neck. You sighed gently to yourself, before shaking your head lightly.

The both of you fell asleep embracing eachother that night, and suffered the consequences of not properly washing up after being in the rain. (Lyney fussed over the both of you, cooing at how cute the both of you looked with bright red cheeks and blocked noses. Lynette, ever your saviour, made herbal tea to quench your aching throats.)

A knock was heard at the door of the Winery, and Diluc’s curiosity heightened. First, Kaeya had received a letter in scribbled handwriting to meet at the Dawn Winiry (with a cheeky drawing of a certain musician at the bottom of it), leading Diluc into letting him in. Then, the charming melody of a lyre enveloped the air, which seemingly had no bard tuning it.

Now, a knock at the door?

Kaeya and Diluc looked at eachother, and decided to open the door. After all, the person knocking is either someone else who received a letter or is the mastermind behind this little scandal.

And so, on the count of three, the opened the door.

oughguhguhg the rhyming couplets part was SOOOO CUTE!! idk they did good with the pacing of the banter i think 🥺

adding onto that the camera angles and cuts this event were actually really nice and creative i think. they made it more engaging (the quick pan from chongyun to xingqiu at the end of the 3rd act, hu tao popping out from behind venti's shoulders during the couplet exchange, etc) it was REALLY good really funny. added to the experience a lot <3

Also venti zhongli are truly the most archon old friends ever

that cutscene was actually so pretty. It's drawn in the same style as Lyney's: very textured lines, slightly reminscent of linocuts, quite a few handdrawn parts, especially where there's water/liquid movement present, etc. Maybe this is a Fontaine style animated cutscene, since the oceanids and lyney are both from there? anyways. i'm intrigued—I wanna see if there are regional cutscene styles or something (that'd be very impressive)

the "close ur eyes paimon/diona" line was so fucking funny. traveler's been the third wheel a bunch of times but never this explicitly

also ! for people icked out by the morality of kid finch's crush on the oceanid: it is Fiction with a capital F

on the one hand I agree with the above sentiment, but it's also just funny to think about. first canon monsterfucker ? /JJJJJJJJJJJJJ don't kill me for that joke

Real thoughts: I think it was actually really sweet how he fell in love with a fairytale. Someone said the oceanid could've been aromantic coded to make their love story more morally palatable; I agree, it would've been cool if she was aro, but I don't think their romantic relationship is like somehow terrible and gross either

overall ending was really mid tbh, I appreciate the character growth of everyone who was on screen but literally all the other characters just disappeared. It was really unsatisfying lol especially for an event that was supposed to be hte gathering/unison of mond and liyue

would've been better if the second day's rhyming couplets ended the event I think; you'd have to tweak it to fit the mood of the oceanid/finch reveal but literally anything works, the ending was so anticlimactic

overall event: 10/10 for giving me the character interactions I wanted, and those that I never knew I needed, 5/10 because the minigames are. not the best, I get the intentions but the execution could've been better. And then 5/10 for story arc (heavily influenced by how mid the ending was LMAO)

picture this, like user is initially like rahh i hate these darn archons gods i’m gonna be the next god cause these darndid losers think they’re so cool i’m gonna kill the anemo one rahh and like upon seeing him users like omg actually he’s kinda.. no i gotta kill him! ohh but… runs away from the situation and hides away in the forests and cries through internal conflicts and turmoil cause user is like a piss baby or smth

and then venti “accidentally” finds user and is like dear angel why do you weep? and user is like aggressive at first but venti sees that user genuinely won’t do much to him- past some mean words ig and like he gently talks with user and makes them open up and then users like, tbh i am lost celestia, sent me down and yet i have no guidance, i should believe in celestia heavenly principals rahh yet i don’t.. i feel like shit blah blah trauma


and ventis like, yo, let’s go drink our worries away, the wine in mond is like totally epic. like they slowly fall inlove but user meanwhile is like grr i wanna kill him.. oh but like one more hangout… rahh but he’s so lame… i’m lying to myself.. no i’m not!! yes i am…

and eventually venti saves user from an attack or smth and like users like ohmahgah i owe you my life blah blah and ventis like oh, no dw bro it’s the land of the free don’t be pressured and users like stfu i worship you now cause you’re so cool and epic i do this from my own free will

Rolling Fields, Dazzling Sights

Summary: Picnic Dates!!!

a/n: This is my white day gift for @serenity-ren-bliss! I hope you like it :D I would've written them all for you if I could... especially Pantalone because I really wanna write him and the new harbingers bUT DON'T KNOW HOW

Also, I split this into two posts because they were getting long,,, Wanderer's is here!

The bard merrily giggled as he held your hand, practically dragging you against your will further into the grasslands, the hustle and bustle of the city quieting with each step you took, "come on love! I promise nothing with happen this time! Don't you trust your darling lover at all?"

A bark of laughter threatened to leave you when you heard that. Yes, you do trust Venti with all your heart, but to deny that many of his previous outings with you led to... less-than-favourable outcomes would be a lie. Whether it was him finding trouble or trouble finding him, you were always the one saddled with tending to his injuries (or hearing him cry the blues for hours). So, it shouldn't be a surprise to any that you're feeling wary.

“Awww, don’t give me that face! Is it so wrong to do something for my Windblume during this festive season?”

You note that you're also deeply in love with the wine-loving, green-clad bard. And, to his credit, Venti always kept you safe when things went south. Therefore, it should also be to no one's astonishment that you continue to go along with him. So, with a quiet no mumbled from you, your lover resumes his journey over the rolling fields of Mondstadt with you in tow.

At first it was easy to recognize a few land points here and there. There was the hillichurl camp that never seems to disappear, then comes the clearing that has the funky-looking tree, but the longer you both walked, the less you began to know. By time you yourself were completely lost, Venti slowed to a near stop.

With a flourish only he could have, you watch as the male proclaims you've both made it to your destination, gesturing to the... ordinary greenery. Silence prevails as you step forward, taking a moment to look around - maybe you missed something? - yet finding nothing, you turn back with a raised brow.

“Uh, Venti…? What am I looking at exactly?” It's as if the very question offends him, a pout forming on the bard's face. Before he could say anything you try again, inspecting harder only to grasp as a loose straw, "is it the... the cecilias??? They're very pretty...?" Letting your voice fade away, unable to stand making a fool of yourself anymore, you let Venti give you a hint. Silently, he shoos you forward, towards the peak of the hill, his way of telling you to find out yourself.

Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you take his prompting and take one step, then two, until you finally begin to see what he wanted to show you.

You hadn’t even realized it, but the sun was close to setting, oranges and reds painting the sky above. Just before the dead drop off of the cliff sits a lone tree, a small basket sat against the trunk. Gently picking it up, you peek inside, spotting your lover's favourite wine and an apple pie. With a little more looking there also seemed to be a favourite or two of yours tucked away as well.

The call of his name is on the tip of your tongue, questions of what this all is and why mixed in, but the feeling of arms wrapping around you quiets you down. You let him speak first, “I hope you don’t mind, but I thought a picnic would be a good way to celebrate today.” Still a little taken aback you can only stay frozen in place, watching as Venti slinks away from you, taking a seat against the tree trunk.

Plucking the wine bottle from the basket and a glass, Mond's resident alcoholic pops the cork with an ease and expertise only he could have. Just before the dark liquid falls into the glass, the mouth of the bottle is tilted in your direction, "care for a glass? There are other refreshments too, so you can say no."

Shaking your head to rid yourself of its daze, you finally take a seat beside him, reaching for your own drink, slowly sipping as you glance around. There's nothing but sky, grass and sea. "There's no danger," Venti pipes up, seeing your skepticism, "I made sure of it!" He's already pouring himself another glass, but he really can't help it, you still make him nervous no matter how much time passes.

Opting to believe him - just this once - you try and relax a little more. Ever the talkative, Venti leaps into conversation, telling you about his latest adventures as a bard, asking you if you've been up to anything recently. When your stomach decides it wants to say its opinion your lover laughed a little, digging through the basket for a snack you'd like no he is not an option. You realize the moment he holds it up to you that he didn't intend on handing it to you.

"Venti, I can feed myself..." you whine, attempting to grab it from him, yet he just leans away.

"Please? It's not a picnic date if I can't feed you at least once!" There's some back and forth before you reluctantly relent, if not only to get him to stop. And you hate to admit it, but being fed wasn't half bad.

The next hour or so continues the same, with lively chatter, good food and a wonderful view. From the corner of your eye, you see the sun has almost completely set. About to point it out, the sound of rustling cuts you off. "If I may," standing as if he hasn't drank half a bottle of wine, you watch as he steps away, lyre materializes in his hands.

Giving it a couple test notes, Venti finds it up to his standards, turning his back to the setting sun, pretty teal eyes looking right at you, "I've prepared a melody for this occasion. It would bring me great joy if you allowed me to play it for you." Speaking with the softness of flower petals, he captivated you as soon as the first word left his mouth. The breeze picks up then and you find yourself nodding easily, sinking into the tree behind you. Soon, the delicate sounds of his song take up the space, the warm colours making the moment all the more breathtaking.

As the final notes close the piece off you're quick to your feet, enveloping Venti in a hug. "That way beautiful," you whisper, kissing his cheek.

"I'm glad you liked it my Windblume," he smiles, planting his own kiss to your skin, smiling tenderly, "but we should head home now. It's getting late." Leaving you with one last kiss, Venti moves to pick up the remains of your picnic, returning to your side, his free hand finding yours.

While walking back home, you lean in close, dropping your voice so only you two could hear, even when no one else was around, "by the way, you have some jam on your nose. I didn't want to interrupt you earlier, but I thought it best to tell you now. You know, before we got back to town."

Honestly, for all the gifts you got today, his embarrassed flush was the cherry on top.

Are you enjoying windblume 3.5? I think it’s pretty good but could’ve used a bit more Venti.

I'm getting to this late cause I go through events slowly but I just finished it!

There were definitely some parts I liked more than others, and I guess it can be said that there was some characterization expansion through interaction, which is always nice (but what the hell did they do to poor Mika's voice, like??? It wasn't like that Weinlesefest and I'd put my life on that claim)

The city looked beautiful as always, I wish it always looked like that with all the flora and pretty blue carpets, the mini games were fun too, though I suck a those little beat based rhythm games and probably always will

And while it is supposed to be a Mondstadt centered event I do understand the want to include the new shiny characters instead of just focusing on Mondstadt characters, though it is a tragedy that we'll probably never get Mondstadt characters coming to Sumeru or Fontaine when that comes out, but oh well

That all being said, I miss him so much

It's so weird, the relationship Hoyo has with Venti, I can't tell whether they love or hate him because they so often stick him in events as practically a cameo that really don't need him, and then barely ever make him the focus of any of the events in his nation— I feel as though he could have had at least a little bit more of an active role, even if it was through the means of being considered a candidate as one of the potential solutions to the riddles so that we could get a letter from him, I mean the last riddle "a legend that never ends" had his name written all over it, immortal Bard and all

Like yes I do wanna join you for a drink, I would love to do a fast-track love poem class with nobody else, "plenty of time during the festival" yeah right...

I also find it incredibly humorous that a group of witches basically challenged him for no particular reason, then he responded with "no" and they were like "ok, we're just gonna host meetings here then"

But the idea that the Cecilia flower represents "a once-wayward heart transformed by the power of love" is just !!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having thoughts

Anyway overall yeah it was fun, nice to see Albedo again, he was gone for quite awhile, and I'm just happy they're still giving us Mondstadt events at this point tbh

I'll just have to fantasize harder about Windblume Venti content in my own head to make up for this neglect I suppose

Asmoday! Diluc I'm never forgetting this guy. Theyve been eating my brain for DAYS now

Caribert and the whole thing oh god

Omg imagine Caribert was revived and is just seeing Kaeya, probably either his kid or his descendant, hanging out with Asmoday!Diluc, and they are training together on how Kaeya with his cryomancy and sword can coverup Diluc's weakspots when he's slinging them guns and claymore around as a bonding activity

how'd he probably react?? probably horrified lol

Have an even better thought!! Asmoday is part of the hexenzirkel but currently she's missing bc she's getting disciplined by Celestia. However, just in case she gets caught again she told her fellow witches that

"If ever I disappear, do not fear, for as long as the moon shines it means i am alive."

Because like apperantly 2 moon sisters are either dead or off somewhere else

and one is still in the sky of tevyat.

Also APPERANTLY ONE OF THEM FELL IN SUMERU AND GAVE UP HER LIFE FOR KING DESHRET, ONE OF HER BESTEST FRIENDS, TO LET HIM ATTAIN FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE

So it's absolutely POSSIBLE that Asmoday could've fallen and lived in Tevyat after ripping out the core that controlled her.

And the Djinn... Oh boy... I wonder if Asmoday has a similar ability to make something similar..

Also just something, Paimon isn't that scared of the archons, even someone like Baal. But she's scared of and extremely polite to Diluc.

I wonder why is that? Compared to God's she only cowers when riches and food are involved, but with Diluc he just says things in a stern voice and she's already "On it M-master Diluc!" i think she even confides in the traveller that she's scared of him but not the reason why.

I don't remember if she's that scared of someone like Ayato tho, i don't even think she's that scared of Childe, she's scared of the Harbinger Tartaglia but not Ajax

But she's scared of Diluc and he hasn't given her any reason to be scared(I think)

Also Waaa I miss dadsleif... we need to bring it back

I'll be honest the last quest did not have enough Dain. Like I'm not the biggest Dain fan but serious about his once-a-year appearance. We did not get enough. And what's funny about shipping Diluc with an Archon I feel Dain could at least learn to like Venti a little bit.

That ship is 10 times funnier to me with Dadleif.

No but tee ur so right about the struggle to move on from sumeru. Like I’ve already played the whole archon quest to avoid getting spoiled and it’s been pretty good so far. But everything about sumeru and its story/character building was just so top-notch that Fontaine falls a little flat in comparison. *Mild spoilers warning* like the traveler meets focalors and I was just immediately hit with this immense longing to see nahida again. Like no archon will ever be nahida!!! She’s truly the peoples archon!!!!

And they’re definitely trying to set up a big mystery in the plot but for whatever reason even though the stakes seem like they’re supposed to be higher it just doesn’t hit with the same intensity as all of the absolutely insane shit the akademiya had going on. *Mild spoilers again* It probably has to do with the fact that it’s in relation to the people of Fontaine specifically and the traveler cannot be affected. Like it just doesn’t feel as personal. And given that it doesn’t feel as personal, there’s also not as much room for close character bonds to develop over a shared sense of urgency.

i think out of all the nations sumeru was my fav (altho the cultural representation aspects made me a bit upset) bc the story objectively was the most intriguing in this one but ALSO !! just the way the characters relationships were all built and connected was just rly nice and special to me. like even tho u hardly see much of candace she means the world to dehya and dehya means a good deal to everyone in sumeru city so like when candace comes to visit she’s still not rly out of place !! and it’s like 🥹 everyone is just connected to everyone and it’s a big family 🥹 and nahidas the mostttt endearing archon i think her story was my favorite but also her relationship with lumine was just more special than the other archons. i think the only other nation where everyone is close to being family like this is mondstadt with like kaeya and amber and eula and jean and klee—they’ve all had history in the knights and as kids so they’re all endearing too and that’s also !! why leaving mondstadt made me so upset !! and why i revisit so frequently just for the heck of it :,) and i think venti also has a slightly cuter relationship w lumine but idk like zhongli and raiden are lovely i liked them but they didn’t have that. idk. ig friendship that nahida had with traveler AND ALSO nahida tries so hard to rly connect w the ppl in sumeru she’s just the best archon i love love love her.

but i loved sumeru’s plot the most i think mondstadt was a bit boring until diluc showed up (lol) and liyue was fun but also a little less exciting and inazuma had so much potential but it was longgggg and tedious and also the miko training thing TOOK ME OUT. but sumeru was so fun and i enjoyed it thoroughly AND IDK IF ANYTHING WILL BEAT IT even the limited events in sumeru were so good sobs i AM RLY SAD WE ARE LEAVING. and also sumeru story quests are all my favs. dehyas was amazing and cynos was too and so was al haithams and i loved nahidas w the lore drops and even tighnaris had me emotional

they squeaked, jolting as a pair of arms wrapped around their waist and tugged them backwards. they looked up with a huff, unsurprised to see a familiar bard grinning down at them.

“venti, you scared me,” fable sighed. “but hello to you too, i guess.”

as if to punctuate his statement, venti pressed a kiss to fable’s cheek.

I've said it before and I'll say it again Xiao. I feel like a lot of people see him as some sort of hot object to project themselves onto either that or some kind of ship bait. I wish more people saw him as the beautiful character he is and yeah that's probably rich coming from someone who mostly posts Xiao when it's in relation to Aether but I truly do love his character as its own thing. I love how gentle he truly is despite his rough exterior. I love how socially awkward he is. I love it when he starts in on his old friends because it's the love he has for them still inside him showing. I love how dedicated he is to protecting Liyue and never takes credit for it. I wish he was a little less hard on himself and allowed himself to feel outside of his normal limits but yeah his karmic debt is scary and dangerous and he's always a little worried which makes sense because he's so so sensitive and it's really adorable 🥺 I wish I used him more but I truly hate his burst. Like HATE. I hate how annoying it is to use omg. But yeah he's so mischarcterized as like this hard ass dom and I'm like be serious he would cry the first time you tell him you love him 😭😭 I know you said besides the usual anon but like not enough people talk about Xiao as he is and not what the fandom has made him.

I think I've said before that Diluc deserves better. He's always called emo and stuck up but I have a secret love for Diluc. He's so caring and capable he immediately sought to help Venti without even being asked to. He loves Mondstadt so much he became rip off batman to protect it from evil. He used to own a turtle. He loves grape juice and hates wine despite being the owner of a tavern. He's just made fun of so much but he's such a unique and interesting character. I love his dark dealings and how he takes on the Fatui all on his own without asking for help and even when he knows it will ultimately do a lot of good for the Knights of Favonious he still helps out anyway. I'll never understand why people hate him so much. Mostly because I've never seen a Diluc hater explain why they hate him. It's always just "I hate Diluc." I don't get it.

Jean as well. She's so cute she is the only anemo female that I use on a consistent basis despite hating the mechanics of her burst. I hate how people simplify her to just being a woman obsessed with her job. Putting her in the same group as Ganyu and Kokomi like bitch Jean loves reading romance novels and projects onto the characters because she wants romance too! She used to own a turtle too! I am seriously so so happy that someone wrote that in Jean and Diluc are turtle twins. I hate that everyone forgets it's so freaking cute 😭. Y/n: Oh *awkwardly accepts it* Thank you...

Aether: *looks at the scene with a jealous look in his face* "Why do I feel this way?"

Y/n: Let's finish up our wishing Aether

Aether: Right

They then made their way twords the east censer

Changshun: Oh, you also want a little adepti luck, too? Haha, it seems you know a lot! Making a wish during this time is sure to get you the blessings of both the Adepti and Rex Lapis himself. I've already made my wish, so you can take this.

Paimon: Great, thanks!

Aether: "I wish I could find my sister soon..."

Y/n: "I wish I could fit in with everyone, not just Mondstat "

Changshun: May your wealth multiply in the year ahead!

Y/n: Thank you very much

Paimon: Great! Now that we're all done with the wishing, guess we can just wait here for things to get started. Hmm, who knows how long that Ms. Ningguang lady is gonna take.

They then made their way to the crowd and noticed how so many people have gathered

Paimon: Whoa! Look at all the people... We gotta get up front! We can't see squat back here!

They made their way to the front in order go get a better view of what was about to happen

Ningguang: The hour is upon us.

Ningguang uses Geo to summon the Archon, but Rex Lapis falls out of the sky and appears to be dead, shocking everyone who was present

Ningguang: Rex Lapis has been killed! Seal the exits!

Millelith guards immediately began to swarm the Terrace, letting no one out

Paimon: Wha... What's going on!? Did she just say Rex Lapis is... The Geo Archon... is... DEAD!?

Y/n: "Dad can't be dead, the dragon body looks like his dragon form but it doesn't have the presence as him, so that means it's a fake body, I can't let Paimon or Aether know since it might make them even more shocked after what they just witnessed..."

Paimon: Oh no, the Millelith! Looks like they're nabbing suspects who got too close. Paimon's freaking out. The killer is amongst us! Wait... we got close... are we suspects!?

Aether: *grabs Y/n's hand* Let's go

Paimon: Wait, where are you guys going?

Aether: "We can't fall into their hands..."

They were going to immediately dash out the area, but Paimon had to point out the guards that were everywhere

Paimon: Oh no..., there's a whole bunch of soldiers out there, too! Your guy's identities... You guys may not be the killer, but we can't let them get you guys! But... can we even get out of here safely?

Y/n: Only one way to find out

They thankfully managed to avoid the guards, but everything came crashing down

Y/n: *looking around and steps on a tile and alerting a guard* !!!

Paimon/Aether: !!!

Millelith Guard: They're here! Arrest them!

Aether/Y/n: *running down the stairs and reaches a dead end*

Millelith Guard: There's nowhere to run!

Aether: *draws his sword while stretching his arm out in a protective way*

???: Hey girlie‍— Hold still.

Y/n: "That voice..."

A mysterious Hydro user appears and defeats all the guards as reinforcements soon ran towards the scene

???: Come with me.

Paimon: *panting* Phew... Paimon's exhausted...

Aether: I'm even more beat. Just what muscles does magical floating use exactly?

Paimon: So insensitive! You have no idea just how tiring floating arou— Wait! Just who are you exactly?

Y/n: *hiding behind Aether* "Please don't recognize me..."

???: Call me Childe.

Paimon: Childe? What, so we're supposed to dote on you?

Childe: Haha, no, no, not at all. It's an alias of sorts. In Mondstadt, I don't suppose you came across a "Signora" by any chance?

Paimon: Signora... Childe... You're Fatui! One of the Harbingers!

Childe: Oh, no. Don't worry, I'm not looking for a fight. Signora gave you quite a bad impression, huh? Tsk, that woman... Can't say I'm a fan, either. Right, let's forget all about her, shall we? I'm here to help you.

Aether: Help? I don't need help from the Fatui.

Childe: Come now, don't be like that.I'm not a bad guy... Okay, perhaps I'm kind of a bad guy, but I'm not here to give you any trouble. Would it be too much to ask for you to keep the sword sheathed?

Aether: Fine

Childe: Haha, I thank you for your knightly nobility, Aether. I heard of your deeds in Mondstadt along with Y/n's, so I couldn't help but notice you guys during the proceedings back there. And because I had my eye on you the whole time, I know it wasn't you. Someone else was clearly behind it. But... regrettably, given I'm a Fatui envoy from Snezhnaya... there's no way I'd be trusted after something of this magnitude. The ruling Qixing of Liyue has always been overly suspicious of us.

Paimon: Well, can you honestly blame them?

Childe: Hahaha. Guess I shouldn't try to deny that. Okay, sure. Maintaining a distance between strangers is probably a good idea. Either way, I'm already used to it at this stage. But right now, if you want to clear yourselves of any suspicion — you need to get yourselves to Northland Bank. Staying here isn't an option. As the old Liyue saying goes: "The walls have ears."

Y/n: "Trust no one was what I mainly managed to remember from him"

At the Northland Bank

Paimon: Northland Bank...

Childe: Correct. This bank was opened here in Liyue by Snezhnaya. Though everyone knows Liyue is the most enterprising in Teyvat, Snezhnaya is not short of change either.

Paimon: Yeah, well, poorer nations don't seem the type to have diplomats that come around acting the way yours do towards the Knights of Favonius.

Childe: Eh-hehehehe... Here, let me give you guys this. *hands Aether the sigil*

Paimon: This is a...

Childe: I'm not sure, exactly. Sometimes, all money can buy is "things" and not a name for oneself. All I know is that it's a sigil. A sigil to keep the "mighty and illuminated adepti" from bringing harm to you.

Y/n: A sigil of permission that protects you from the Adepti if I could recall *scratches her head*

Paimon: Adepti?

Y/n: If you head north from the harbor, then west from Guili Plains, you will eventually reach a stone forest known as Jueyun Karst. The people of Liyue believe it to be the abode of the adepti. "Which is, in fact, true."

Aether: They really believe that? Isn't it just a legend?

Y/n: Legend or not, they believe it. As such, offerings to the adepti are made at its borders. Nobody dares venture in.

Childe: But I have no need for believing — not when I know for a fact that the adepti truly exist.

Paimon: Hate to admit it, but thanks to Y/n, your Fatui intel seems alright. But why would we go looking for adepti anyway?

Childe: Ha, oh my little friend. There are plenty of reasons mortals seek the blessings of adepti. Money, health, love... But you guys... you guys will go for justice.

Paimon: Justice?

Childe: The Qixing will already have dispatched the Millelith. They'll be seeking out the assassin from amongst the onlookers. But how could a mere mortal kill a god that can sweep aside entire armies? Rex Lapis never gave up his power as a god. This level of crude response is beyond what is called for. How suspicious...

Aether: You think they're trying to hide the true culprit?

Childe: Or... to hide something else. It's hard to say. Even now, the Northland Bank wouldn't be able to hold the Millelith off for long, but the adepti can clear you of any wrongdoing.

Y/n: *clears her throat* Liyue was founded by the Geo Archon and the adepti — of course, it was built by force *puts the book away* We have to look for them and be faster than the Qixing's messengers, so we may give our version of events first. If there is anyone who can help us in Liyue now, it can only be the mighty and illuminated adepti.

Low-key kind of bummed that Liyue and now Sumeru have Interlude Quests, but not Mondstat nor Inazuma. Outside of the festivals and limited events (especially for those who missed them), it feels like nothing is happening over in those places.

Liyue got an expansion in the Chasm, which became an important location for two story-related quests (Perilous Trail & Requiem of the Echoing Depths).

Sumeru got the most epic Archon quest (in my opinion), and a pretty interesting Interlude (Inversion of Genesis). And, considering how the desert now has more areas to explore, it would be a crime to not have those new areas be relevant to the main story in the future.

Inazuma got an expansion in Enkanomiya, but it had no impact in the main story. (And yes, I was one of those people who didn’t get to play the Event and am currently locked out of the loop on that one). Serai Island is just…there. You’d think that chaotic place would serve as a location of relevant importance, and while it’s cool to explore, there’s really not much else.

AND WHERE IS MY MONDSTAT EXPANSION?!

I would disagree that Inazuma didn't have anything happen.

Enkanomiya provided a lot of lore about Celestia and the four Shades that we hadn't had previously (it was the first place to confirm that the Primodial One wasn't from Teyvet if I recall correctly) and how that could even impact that Gods (the God of Watasumi Island was sentence to death by Celestia because of what they learned about them).

Serai Island was as overt as Enkanomiya as it was an island that was more focused on Inazuma lore than Teyvet history lore however it still had it's crumbs of an ancient civilization linked to Celestia to have once been present there as seen by the murals in the underground sections. Then you have the quest with the Boatman quests that also revealed more about what happens when someone dies.

Mondstadt is a place that has been neglected, though, and I'm really hoping they remedy that because it also has hints about links to one of the Four Shades, Istaroth, with them being a god who was once worshipped alongside Venti as was shown in the ruins.

With the mention of a port in Mond, I do think it will eventually get an expansion as well, with Venti having yet to have his second story quest (which from what we know from Zhongli's and Ei's quests, will most likely reveal the history of the world and/or Celestia).

Sadly we just have to be patient.

Mondstadt Evenings

Pairing: Venti x Reader

Evenings in Mondstadt always had an incredibly soothing atmosphere. The retreating light cast oranges and yellows within the city walls, to fade into a serene blue as the hours progressed. The buildings were cozy, the streets perfect for calm walks and hello's to passing citizens.

Earlier, upon your return through the city gates, the familiar smells of flowers, food on the open stove of Good Hunter, and the chirping of birds perched on houses had greeted you, like a second home waiting to embrace you - the city that began your journey.

You'd registered a few commissions locally for the next couple days with Katherine, and stopped at the aforementioned restaurant with Paimon to savor the local cuisine you'd both come to miss when away. It just so happened that Jean was there at the same time, and had been incredibly happy to see you.

You'd asked how she was - busy as ever, but she'd made herself take breaks here and there - and was feeling much better because of it. "You'd better be, so you don't get sick again!" Paimon exclaimed with a smug grin and crossed arms, in typical Paimon fashion.

Jean softly chuckled in agreeance, and moved on to thank you for everything you'd done for the city once again. Which you were quick to brush off, visibly flustered, earning yourself a light laugh from the Acting Grand Master.

When she'd asked what brought you back, you'd explained the two of you returned just to relax, and that you'd come to miss Mondstadt in your travels.

She happily offered for you to spend your stay at a house that had been vacant for a while, "Free of course, for our honorary knight!", she'd enthusiastically added. While it was heartwarming to know she regarded you this highly, you thanked her and insisted you were fine, explaining the Serenitea Pot you'd received in Liyue.

She'd had none of it, insisting you should feel welcome and comfortable and that she wanted you to be able to really experience the city.

And so that's how you ended up where you were now, setting your things down, Paimon rolling around on the fresh sheets of the bed.

"Paimon feels like she's on a cloud right now!" She gushed, rolling dramatically like a cat doused in catnip. You couldn't help but laugh at the sight.

"Good practice for when I get really hungry and roll you into a burrito next time we set out!"

"Oh come on! You ruined Paimon's moment!"

It was admittedly really nice to be able to open the curtains and see the city below, and just be, like any other citizen or visitor, without an agenda. The Caramel Pinecone you were sipping on was made that much sweeter by the view of the sky, clouds passing like free spirits above.

Paimon, of course, had sucked hers down at lightning speed, barely able to greet Diluc at the tavern earlier for her excited cheers over the beverage.

You both stepped onto the balcony and sighed in content. You still missed and worried about your home of course, but on occasions like this you couldn't help but feel thankful for the peaceful moments, the sights you'd seen, and spending time with your hyper, food vacuuming travel buddy - who was now waving at and talking to the dog trotting along on the street underneath you both.

Midnight was even more peaceful than evening. Stars scattered across the sky, gentle breezes tousled your hair in various directions, and the nocturnal insects kept the air alive with their symphonies. Paimon, having crashed from her sugar high hours ago, lie passed out on the couch in the living room, covered in blankets you'd found in a closet.

As for yourself, you'd washed up and changed to comfier clothes, now settled into the windowside bed. You'd opened the windows earlier, letting the midnight breeze through, which paired exquisitely with the soft sheets that were nice and cold, and you could feel yourself drifting off...

That is, until a knock at your door jerked you out of your descent into slumber.

Somewhat exasperatedly, you threw the covers off and got up, marching half asleep past a non-affected Paimon to the door.

If you were sleepy before, you just got backhanded into wakefulness. There to greet you in all your post-shower hair, pajama clad glory was none other than the last person you'd want to see you in this state- the Anemo Archon himself.

"Ah, traveler! I'd heard around you were back and wanted to come see you... You've gotta tell me about all your adventures and what you've been up to... *yawn*... ya know..." He trailed off. It was clear he'd had a few drinks, his cheeks dusted pink and a wide self satisfied grin plastered across his face. He was obviously tired, evidenced by the yawn breaking up his sentences.

Having jerked you out of your restful state aside, you couldn't help but (begrudgingly) mentally acknowledge just how cute he was. Cyan-tipped dark hair that framed his features just right... Kind but mischievous doe eyes, on the border of green and blue, hands that seemed warm and soft when held, that weaved melodies and guided the winds that shaped this land. A slim, approachable figure, belying the power of a god he held within...

You had to mentally slap yourself out of your reverie before the silence became uncomfortable.

"Hey... uh... it's really nice to see you Venti, but it's like 1 in the morning..." you replied awkwardly, not wanting to come off mean, but still a bit perplexed by his sudden appearance. It didn't help that your face was heating up, and you willed yourself not to stutter.

"Well..." Another yawn escaped before he could finish, and a hand raised to scratch his head in slightly embarrassed realization. "It is about that time, isn't it, aha..."

You just blinked, knowing if Paimon was awake she'd had let a snarky comment out right at this moment.

"I was at the tavern and Diluc mentioned you were back in town... Shortly after, when he refused to give me anymore wine," he stopped to mutter something unintelligible in annoyance, "he changed the subject and said I should visit you tomorrow, being the honorary knight and all.... I uh, was a little too tipsy to realize it was quite this late so I decided to drop by right away instead, ehe. I was too excited to wait until tomorrow.... I hope you're not mad..." He trailed off, voice seeming to grow sleepier every time he spoke.

You probably should have been, but how could you be mad? Maybe it was the fact that you were hopelessly crushing on him, maybe it was your over forgiving nature... Yeah, we'll go with the second option, but you could never get mad at that (annoyingly) cute face.

But excited? He was excited to see you... Ugh. The most logical explanation was that being your friend, and interested in your travels, that's why he was excited. You mentally reminded yourself to not let your hopes get too high and cloud your judgement.

"No, just a bit surprised to see you is all," You muttered, unsuccessfully stifling a yawn yourself, "Excuse the way I look, I didn't really expect to see anyone this late, but no, I was looking forward to seeing you too."

His eyes seemed to light up in relief, and he straightened his posture back out. "Well in that case," another yawn, "Mmm.... is it okay if I come in for a moment? I'll just stay a minute..." Before you could reply, he spoke again. "And don't apologize..." this time, a hiccup interrupted him, "You always look amazing to me..." he finished, eyes halfway closed in a sleepy-tipsy haze. Still wearing that goofy grin.

Oh. If it weren't for your own sleepiness, you would have died on the spot as if struck by Ei's lightning. Calm, calm... You reminded yourself he had had who knows how many bottles of Dandelion Wine, but those words coming from him... were enough to fold someone in half like a sucker punch. That damn tone deaf bard, you thought, thinking Paimon's nickname fitting for the moment.

"Uhh, yeah, sure!" you fumbled, a little too obviously flustered and with maybe a hint of excitedness, backing away from the door to allow him in. "Just be quiet, since Paimon's asleep over here." Why did he want to come in at this hour? You didn't know, but you honestly were too tired to care at this point... and since it was him.

What were you two, though?

Well, you were undeniably friends, close even. The first archon you met, one of the first who knew of your predicament. Whenever you'd returned to Mondstadt, you'd run into him so many times, and he'd helped you and the others repeatedly. He'd guided you through the city's festivals, shared stories of it's history, made you feel as though you belonged, never judging you.

You'd hung out together sometimes, too. Paimon napping on your lap as the three of you sat under the tree at Windrise, him playing a tune on his lyre. Nights at the tavern when he'd make sure you were at ease around strangers. Walks at dusk, when his serious face showed the bard Venti give way to Barbatos, when he would spill stories of his own life, memories only he had, history of the land. You'd in turn describe your world in detail, the places you loved, your adventures in Teyvat.

He was one of the few people you really felt comfortable talking to about how you felt, talking about home. He was a bastion of comfort and reassurance, an easygoing and understanding shoulder to lean on like a cool breeze on a hot day. Your fears, your worries, anything - he always knew what to say to melt them all away, and lend a supportive ear.

So it was no wonder you harbored such feelings for him now. But again... to share such intimate details, to share so many moments of almost brushing hands, of if I just scooted closer I could feel his warmth distance.

What did he feel? There were hints, of course, you weren't an idiot. But you couldn't be sure.

Well, you mused, thinking too much about it wouldn't reveal anything, so might as well focus on the present.

You directed him silently past where Paimon was still sleeping soundly, and gestured for him to come into your room, where she wouldn't be disturbed by your voices.

He sighed after the door closed, turning toward the open window and, of course, yawning once more.

"We just got back here today. Both Paimon n' I had really missed Mondstadt, so we decided we'd come back and stay awhile. She kept going on about craving sticky honey roast," you laughed lightly, "but I have no room to talk, I missed it too. Quite frankly, we also missed you. But how did you know we were staying here? Wait, Diluc told you, didn't he?" You said, realization hitting as you spoke.

He chuckled lightly. "Yep. He said you'd both come in earlier, and I asked if he knew where you all were going. He said he'd spoken to Jean earlier, and she told him she'd offered you two this place to stay, even though you initially refused," he laughed in that sweet voice of his, "that's so like you."

A small "Heh" was all you could muster, a bit red faced, fiddling with your hands.

You both stood there for a moment, you searching for something to say to break the quiet, him turning to gaze out the open window the moon was now shining through.

"Honestly," he sighed now, voice shifting almost to a lower, defeated tone, "I came here because I wanted your company. I wasn't gonna... come so late, I didn't realize, so sorry about that..." he trailed off. "I just, the wine wasn't enough tonight, and Diluc wasn't going to let me at anymore bottles anyway, and talking to you always makes me feel better." He wouldn't meet your eyes as he finished speaking, still focused on the view outside.

Ah. So that's what led to this whole predicament. You'd figured out a long time ago he'd occasionally use Angel's Share as his go-to when things bothered him, so that must have been the case tonight.

Even through the wine's cloudiness, you could see that you were dealing with Barbatos now when he turned back toward you - he'd dropped the cheerfulness, and you could see that all-too familiar look in his eyes, the subtle shift in expression.

With as much as he cared for everyone else... you wished he'd never feel sad. Even as show-up-and-disturb-your-sleep-y as he could be.

This time his eyes seemed to will themselves shut when he yawned, and you swore he could fall asleep right where he stood, if it weren't for him speaking again, before you could find the proper words to reply.

"Ah, I should probably go now, it's really late and I've already kept you from resting," he said apologetically, scratching the back of his head once more, "that's no way to greet you when you've come all this way from Inazuma."

You considered your next words. You could be brave, and offer him to stay here, possibly setting one foot out of the realm of just friends - or you could let him leave like he said he would and wonder what might have been.

You chose the first, despite your nerves.

I mean... you could obviously see he wasn't in the highest of spirits, and you didn't know of any place warm and indoors that he could retire to for the night, much less manage the walk there in his current state - nearly falling asleep with each second that passed.

"You can," you can do this, (y/n), dammit! you thought, "you can... stay here, if you want." Your face was blood red at this point, and you hoped the lack of light had your back in hiding it.

"I can tell you're really tired, and again, I don't mind you coming this late," you gained a bit of confidence as you continued, "I don't know where you usually go, but it would probably be nice to have a comfy bed, right?"

His lips eased into a small smile now, and his eyes seemed to regain a bit of light. He appeared to think for a second. "Well, then..."

You didn't even have time to process what was going on before he'd stepped toward you and wrapped his arms around your torso and back, face buried in the crook of your neck. Your arms stayed in the air for a moment out of shock, but you quickly placed them on his back, resting your own head against his green-clad shoulders. His hands were cool where they met the skin of your shoulder, but not cold.

Your heart was racing, and all you could manage was to wordlessly, blissfully savor the moment. He was warm pressed against you, and smelled of breeze-carried flowers underneath Dandelion Wine. His hair brushing your face was soft, tousled gently by the air flowing through the open window. The silence of the moment was peaceful, his feather-light breaths against you barely audible.

His grip tightened a bit before he finally let go, and you wished it could have lasted just a bit longer as you opened your eyes.

His voice was hushed and soft now. "Are you sure it's okay? Are you comfortable with me staying here? I won't be upset if you want me to go."

Summoning your ability to use words back from your prior stupor, you reassured him, voice light now as well.

"I'm sure."

If there was ever any moment - the night sky and city outside the window framing his silhouette, moonlight highlighting his features and setting aglow his dark locks, wind seeming to pick up and snake it's way through the room - it was now, to tell him how you felt.

"Venti, I..." you looked at his eyes, which now had their attention fully turned to you.

"Hmm?" he hummed, tone kind and inquisitive.

"To be honest," you sighed in defeat, ready to let the river flow. "I've had feelings for you for a while. I think about you a lot, everywhere I go. I get so excited to see you again when I come back here. I was so happy to see you at the Irodori Festival," you continued, "and I feel like you're one of the few people I can really feel comfortable with and trust. You're such a caring friend, and I feel myself missing you when you're gone."

"You trust me and really talk to me, even though I'm not from this world, and it really means so much to me. I think I love you, Venti." Your voice was barely a whisper as his name slid off your tongue, shyness overtaking you.

His eyes widened as you spoke, and you swore you could make out his cheeks flushing in the dim light, as slight shock spread across his face. After you'd finished though, he'd closed his eyes and smiled.

"My heart has belonged to you for a lot longer than you know," he began, clarity breaking through the alcohol and claws of sleepiness. "Freedom is important to me, so I didn't want to burden you with my feelings, or make you feel like you had to love me back. I know your journey is the most important thing for you right now, so I never wanted to tie you down, and if friendship was what you needed, it could stay that way. Your happiness is what matters most to me, your freedom as a traveler as well. I never want to hold you back."

"But, hearing you say these words... I'm so happy. I'm so happy I really don't know what to say, I," he laughed that soft laugh again, the wind whipping outside now, "I held myself back from saying or doing anything overt, but the time I've spent with you became one of my favorite things. I feel like I'm being healed when I'm with you, like that time under the Tree..."

He stepped forward to embrace you once again, just a bit tighter than before, and you could feel wetness from his cheeks on your shoulder this time.

"I love you too, (y/n)," he spoke, using your name this time, "I have for a really long time. I would have been content with you never noticing, or just being friends, but you have no idea how happy I am right now. I've lived for thousands of years," he stopped for a second, "and I've never felt like this for someone before. He... was my best friend. Dvalin, too. And I've had friends since, watching over the people of Mondstadt, but ever since you came to this world, it's something I couldn't quite describe."

He let go now, eyes meeting yours, one hand coming to rest on your cheek, the other brushing stray strands of hair out of your face. You were speechless. You couldn't deny you'd imagined scenarios like this before, but for it to be actually happening right now? Words were impossible to form.

He placed a kiss on your forehead before pulling back, chuckling as you squeezed your eyes shut. The way he looked at you... almost brought tears to your eyes.

What seemed like the thousandth yawn once more escaped him, the wind outside seeming to follow his lead as it too calmed down - was it tied to his emotions?

"If it's alright with you, can I... sleep beside you tonight?" He asked, "I've wanted to nap with you for a long time actually... Whenever we spend time together in Windrise, I just want to pull you into my lap and play my lyre... Again, I want you to be comfortable, so it's okay if the answer is no." He stated, voice still soft and sweet.

You could feel the sleepiness tugging at your own consciousness now after the rollercoaster of emotions you'd just experienced, and the thought of his warmth you felt just minutes ago returning was something you didn't want to pass up. "I'd... like that a lot, actually. It's kind of embarrassing, but I've wished I could curl up next to you a lot of times when we've sat under the tree." You added, looking at anything but the object of your flusterment.

He reciprocated your feelings... If you weren't so tired, and standing in front of him, you might be squealing half in euphoria and half in disbelief when the realization hit.

He started fumbling with the ties of his cape, then worked his corset and the belt bearing his false vision off, while you returned under the cozy sheets you'd been taken away from earlier. It was almost strange to see him without his full outfit on, and without the beret atop his head. He was so damn ethereal... it was unfair. How could someone be so beautiful?

You felt the bed dip slightly when he slipped in beside you wordlessly, lifting the sheets to cover himself, and then...

"Lift your head." He whispered, his voice now just inches behind you - sending shivers down your spine. You did so, and his arm slid under your head as a pillow. His other arm came to wrap around you over your side and he pulled you to his chest, warmth surrounding you like a cocoon of safety. The scent of flowers and what you could only describe as the wind itself flooded your senses.

Secure. Secure and loved were the only ways you could think to describe how it felt with his body covering yours from behind, arms around you, legs tangled. You could feel his chin come to rest by the back of your head, and from his sheer closeness you could feel him sigh in content behind you. Was this what bliss was? To be loved and embraced by the god of Anemo, the wind himself... you were so thankful to have met him.

"Mmh?" you mumbled half asleep, when he pulled the blanket down off you both. Cool air hit your skin, and you whined like a cat being separated from a bowl of tuna.

"Shhh". He breathed into your ear.

A moment later, the sound of ruffling and a slight burst of wind caught your attention, and the cold absence of the sheets was soon replaced with something fluffy and warm carefully surrounding you. Feathers...

He'd mentioned something about having wings in his Archon form before, hadn't he? The fact that he trusted you enough to not only reveal a part of that form to you, but to wrap them around you so lovingly - even half asleep, you blushed at the thought.

They were large enough to envelop most of your form, and so fluffy... The moonlight glinted off the golden part of his wing, and the feathers themselves ruffled with the breeze, white as snow. You reached out to run your hands along them, and he hummed with contentment behind you, burying his nose into your hair and squeezing you further to him.

Paired with his slow breathing against your back, the sounds of night outside the window, and the warmth surrounding you, you finally drifted off.

The last thing you heard was a whispered "Goodnight, my Windblume".

The genshin men: fatherhood edition

Childe:

Ajax loves kids and he’ll make that known early on in your relationship

Like...This man wants five or more kids but he’ll settle for four. He dreams of a big family, getting to surround himself with you and your kids every night for family dinners, everyone getting together for big birthday parties or reunions! That’s his dream life! Plus, in Snezhnaya, most families have more than two kids anyways

He will cry so hard when his babies are placed in his arms for the first time, I mean he’s a mess. Nose is running, eyes puffy, lost of sniffling lmao he is so excited to be a dad!! Don’t you dare tell the other Harbingers how much he cried...What do you mean you took a picture when he wasn’t looking??? Hey??!?!

With his obscene amount of mora, he’ll buy a huge house that will accommodate everyone. Anything you want will be purchased that day or within 48 hours, the same goes for the kids

But they’ll all learn to be thankful for what they have. They’ll learn to fight, fish and speak multiple languages. He has high expectations but let’s face it, he’ll be proud of them no matter what

You’re gonna have to be the one to put your foot down though because Ajax doesn’t enjoy being the ‘mean parent’, he has trouble saying no to the kiddos which can create some tension between you and your husband. He has good intentions of course!! He doesn’t wanna say no to those cute, freckled faces!!

Zhongli:

Zhongli is nervous about having kids because he’s immortal. So this will go one of two ways. 1. You have the baby and the baby ends up not being immortal (or you adopt a baby who is not immortal) Then he loses you both. OR 2. You have the baby and it inherits his immortality and becomes an adeptus. Now he and the baby will have to watch you die while they both life forever.

Either way...It hurts him to think about because he loves you!! He wants to have a family with you!! He wants to give you that perfect family life every human desires!! But he’s torn

You two will just have to figure it out.

Zhongli will be a strong, male figure for your kid(s) and he will instill that traditional kindness and respect into their behavior. ‘Please’ and ‘thank you’ always, always offer to help someone who needs it, do good deeds and you will feel accomplished, be the best you you can be, alway try your hardest because that’s all that matters

He will be sure that your kid(s) always feel loved ALWAYS. Zhongli will tell them stories, cook for them, take them to school, anything that needs to be done. When you’ve had a rough day, he’ll step in to take over for the night without being asked. He shows interest in everything your kid(s) like and he will do his damn best to display every piece of artwork they make or every pretty rock they find

He...will make a great dad :’)

Kaeya:

Ooooh brother, at first Kaeya says no he doesn’t want kids but...Then he starts thinking about it

He observes the happy families that walk around the cobblestone streets of Mondstadt, how the kiddos smile and laugh with their parents. He’ll patrol in the afternoons, usually rounding the corner just in time to see the city’s kids leave school for the day, watching as they all run down the street to go home to their parents or play in the fountain together...Yeah, that really warms his heart

He’d want one or two kids, preferably two to avoid an only child being lonely. He isn’t on the best terms with Diluc but he can admit that they had a great childhood together, playing at the winery and running around as brothers do

Kaeya would be a very patient, understanding father. He doesn’t have much of a temper so he’d use the kids’ mistakes as learning opportunities instead of getting upset at them

He would be obsessed with the kids when they’re babies though oh man if you thought you had baby fever, he has it times ten! He loves holding the baby, watching with a twinkling eye as his baby grasps his thumb with its tiny hand... adorable

And if your kids inherited his eyes, his star shaped pupils that his ancestors passed down to him...He’s gonna get emotional

Everyone at the knights’ headquarters and the Angel’s Share will get sick of him REALLY fast cause he won’t stop bragging about how cute and smart his kids are lmao

Diluc:

Diluc would be such a soft dad don’t even get me started

He loves you so much of course he wants to have kids with you! Is that even a question?? He won’t be the one to bring it up unless he gets the feeling that you want kids but once you ask, he’ll agree so fast

He’ll be grateful to even have one kid with you :’) and he’ll be fine with however many kids YOU want. You want one kid? Perfect! You want four? No problem, the manor is big enough for ten! You...you want ten...? Time to hire some more maids then lmao

Diluc is a worry wart though, he’ll be afraid to hold the baby, feed it, bathe it, he’s terrified of hurting the baby or the baby suddenly hating him. So just help him out!! Cause when he gets comfortable with the baby, he’ll be in full dad mode

He isn’t embarrassed to walk around the manor, conducting business with a baby strapped to his chest!

Diluc is a very kind, gentle dad who will always offer helpful solutions to the kiddos’ problems. He’ll make sure all of their needs are met while also trying to avoid spoiling them... Too much... There will be a fair amount of spoiling...

His own father wasn’t too affectionate with him so that’s why he’ll be affectionate with his kids! Hugs and kisses when he tucks them in at night, big dad hugs when they get home from school, holding their hands in the busy streets of Mondstadt. His father was a great dad! He just aims to be better.

Xiao:

Like Zhongli, he worries about the mortality thing. Since he’s an Adeptus, his kid will certainly be an Adeptus too if you have kids together.

He also worries that his kid(s) will hate him. His duty is to kill demons which means that rain or shine, holidays, special occasions, day or night he’s gotta be ready to go slaughter demonic beings. So he’ll inevitably miss out on important stages in the kiddos’ lives

And admittedly... He’ll be scared of his kids lmao

They’re screaming, crying, barfing, pooping, laughing, screaming again...He can’t predict their behavior. It’s unsettling. All of that goes away one night when you sit him down and place your sleeping baby in his arms. His eyes go wide...And he just watches. This tiny, little baby...Feels no fear for him. It’s comforted by his presence. He almost cries...ALMOST

He’s still pretty much the same Xiao we all know and love but now he has a kid. “Slaying demons is what I do...Hey, go back inside and finish your dinner. Yes, even your vegetables. I don’t care that you don’t like them-...Fine. Don’t tell your mother, bring them to me. I’ll eat them” cute :)

He’s a protective dad and husband, he’d never let anyone or anything harm his beloved family

Venti:

Venti....does not want kids. He thinks they’re cute! He likes the idea of kids but he knows he wouldn’t enjoy actually having kids

You two already have so much fun together!! You don’t need a kid!! You guys have dogs!! Dogs are like kids! But they’re more independent and they’re cuter!

He’ll feel bad if you want kids and he doesn’t, he really will! But it’ll be nearly impossible to convince him cause he’s made his mind up :/

Venti’ll make it up to you somehow though, he’ll take you out more and show you all of the adventures you guys can have if there aren’t kids around

But for the sake of fatherhood headcanons, let’s pretend he gave in. Venti would be a very caring dad. He would cuddle the hell out of this kiddo and sing to them :’) the only problem is that Venti doesn’t like being tethered to one place for too long so he tends to take off and not come back for a few days... :(

Albedo:

Albedo wants kids mostly just to see what fatherhood would be like. He’s always been curious about what that part of his life would be like so why not have a kid

He’d be good with one kid, two at most cause after practically raising Klee, he knows how some kids can be and...He doesn’t have the mental capacity for more than two kids at a time lmao

He tries his best to show more emotion in his face. We all know he usually sits like this 😐 and goes ‘wow im so happy right now’. If you didn’t know him, you’d think he was bored out of his mind right? So he’s gotta work on that. And when he musters up a smile for the baby and it smiles back at him????? Yeah...He’s gonna try to smile a lot more now

He definitely softens up once he becomes a dad, he shows emotion more than he used to and surprisingly, he takes time off of work. Shocker, I know! He decides that he’s been in the lab long enough and that he wants to be able to be there for these moments with you and his kid(s) :’) :’) He trusts Sucrose and Timaeus to take over for him for a couple hours

He keeps a journal for each kid and writes down the date and time they have their firsts or just interesting things they do ->

- 8/4: Baby sees and plays with a cat for the first time

- 9/5: Baby smacked me in the face and laughed so hard she threw up

-9/12: Baby learns that pulling my hair gets my attention. She now continues to do so

-10/15: Baby stays at Aunt Klee’s house for the first time

Baizhu:

Baizhu really loves kids, he works with them a lot and he considers Qiqi to be his daughter anyway but in terms of you guys having a kid together, with his condition he can probably only handle one kid running around

He will do his absolute best to be a good dad. Even if he feels like death, he’ll help change diapers, feed the baby, care for it when you need a break. He isn’t contagious so when you’re sleeping and he feels gross, he’ll sit back against the pillows with the baby on his chest, the three of you resting together (though he doesn’t fall asleep...that would be dangerous for the baby)

Baizhu already tends to nag at you about your health and lifestyle choices but now?? He’ll be a menace. He’ll be constantly evaluating your baby’s condition, checking to see if a certain food is giving them a rash or making sure their skin isn’t drying out. He’s hyper aware of your baby’s health and will be the one to treat them if they get sick

He’s a busy guy since he runs the pharmacy but he will always do his best to be present for your baby’s big milestones! And when your kid cries cause Baizhu’s medicine tastes like shit, he’ll do his best to not be disappointed in their reaction lmao

When you leave him alone with the baby, he’ll wrap a scarf around himself to tie the baby to his chest while he works and...he looks so cute :) dad baizhu <3 <3 <3 <3

Bonus points for him buying the baby toy medical equipment so he can get your kiddo interested in medicine :)

“Oh! Mr. Diluc!” Diluc comes to your flower boutique every morning to pick up new flowers to replace to freshen up his winery which was just next door to your boutique. You always wonder why such a wealthy man would wanna buy flowers from your plain, humble shop. He had all the money in the world to buy much more beautiful flowers from much more famous and luxurious flower boutiques, so why buy here? Well, you weren’t one to question him, and you didn’t mind him.

“Good morning,” he simply stated as he went back to looking at the flowers.

“Those windwheel asters....did they come in yesterday?”

“Yeah! My family is constantly harvesting flowers, and I’m trying my best to help them!”

Your family run a farm all the way back in Liyue where they not just sell flowers, but fruits and vegetables too. 

“Are you perhaps preparing for the Windblume Festival to take place? You sure have a loaded amount of it, as well as cecilias.”

“Well, I told them that and asked if they can import more of those flowers to, you know..”

“Economics.”

You giggled at his statement.

Your shop was at hot topic during the Windblume Festival. Not only were your flowers good quality, but they were cheap too, something you prided over your shop.

“Anyways, I would like to buy these windwheel asters.”

“Alright!”

After paying for his flowers, you greeted him.

“Hope you have a nice Windblume Festival, Diluc!”

It wasn’t visible, but his face was printed with a small smile on his delicate features.

“Ahahahaha! Wonderful! As thanks, I’d like to invite you to be one of my pupils!”

Oh, you know this. He always does it every Windblume Festival where he would get people and teach people on how to write a good poem. Looks like you made pre-payment for a class you haven’t attend yet.

Kaeya was that flirtatious knight, as well as Diluc’s brother. He would always be at Diluc’s winery to drink together with Venti and Rosaria. He’s not really there to buy flowers, more so of your osmanthus wine you sold, but he’s not really a regular customer, nor was he a rare visitor. Usually in the evening. But as charming as he is, why did he want to learn poetry when he’s a natural at being a poetic and constructive flirter?

“Well, Venti, what do you say?”

“Deal!”

You groaned internally. Great, now there’s homework.

“So, Silk Flower, what are you going to be writing about?” Kaeya asked as he gave you a playful smirk.

As much as this guy was pulling at your nerves, you couldn’t help but swoon internally of how fine he looks. That damn knight.

“Love,” you said as your facial features remain stoic.

“Ahahaha! Oh you!”

There was a comfortable silence between the both of you.

“Why not tomorrow at seven in the evening I invite you over to the Dawn Winery? Hm?~ Don’t worry, the drinks are on me.”

“I don’t really drink, but, if you want, I can bring a bottle of my family’s osmanthus wine?” you offered.

He simply let out a soft chuckle before he used his hand and gently grab your chin and tilted you up to face him.

“I just want you, though.~”

You blushed a crimson red before you pushed him away. “Oh shush! You want my wine or not?!”

“Of course , of course!” he laughed

Dawn Winery was filled with all the familiar faces. From Diluc to Sucrose and even Albedo was there, smiling.

“What’s going on?”

“It’s a thank you party of course!”

“Thank you party?”

“Yes,” now Diluc got your attention, “Before Windblume, I saw you working day in and out to import and export flowers, and of course your family wine. We just wanted to thank you and that we appreciate your hard work, y/n. You’re flowers and presence really freshen and lighten our day.”

“Mhm! Now come sit down and be merry with us, y/n!” Venti exclaimed with that drunk smile of his.

“You-you guys...you really didn’t have to do this.”

“Of course we had to, y/n,” Jean smiled warmly.

Barbara nodded. “Yeah! You deserve it!”

Albedo simply nodded.

“But-”

Diluc cut you off as he pat your head to which you instantly shut up and looked at him with a slightly red face.

“Yes. Yes you do, y/n. Now, let us enjoy this moment together. All of us.”

Now he really smiled.
