There’s also such clever writing in this show and the animation is creative and beautiful. The visual stuff is awesome. The fact that stuff have consequences and last and aren’t solved immediately means a lot. There’s some VERY powerful metaphors sprinkled in and the characters, their design and their VAs are fantastic and leave me wanting to see more of them after every watch.

I've been doing 3D for about 6 years on and off, though ive only started doing it more regularly roughly 4 yrs ago

sadly not since i have a full-time job, but I really appreciate the interest!! It wouldnt feel right accepting commissions without the reassurance of being able to set aside enough time to commit myself to them, not to mention balancing my hobby of making animations and 3D models. i'll definitely post an announcement on here if I reopen them again!! it's definitely not out of the question.

ooh that's tricky! there are a few that come to mind, but i think Hometown Fall studies is my favorite. I like how the cozy vibe turned out and it was so much fun animating these characters playing off of each other in a mundane scenario like that. (Edit: So the comic has just been sitting in my iPad for ages now and I don't wanna continue it right now- might continue it when school decides to not school or when it's summer break. For now, no comic.)

I know this is gonna be a 'No shit sherlock' moment, but au's of CCs, i think, are valid. Like, I recently decided to try redesigning and rewriting one of my current hyperfixations, and lemme tell you, I am obssessed with having people draw my redesigns. Fanfiction writers, like myself, sometimes clay mold the existing characters into lil guys that we personally like better.

Even characters that are litterally just 'Rainbow dash but a dog >:(' or 'Walter White as a twink' still feels like it applies to the AU argument, personally. Sure, it's more leaning on the OG address, but at the same time, someone is really happy about making that and want art fo it!

(On a side note, it is bullshit that the Mods don't allow actual CCs or Logos in attacks/characters due to 'copywrite'. Shut up with that bullshit, McDonalds isn't gonna fish through the website and ban you for having a yellow M. And likewise, Disney ain't gonna explode you with their mind if they see your site has self-shipping fanart. Wanna know how I know this? Because Disney HASN'T sued y'all for all TOH CBCs and McDonalds is going broke. Last thing on their mind is to look at the silly OC art trading game and wasting money)

this is a great question with a long answer! also tumblr deleted my first answer to this because it's a shit. also this is all lilac speaking

so way back years ago aru wrote a silly little crack fic. i was immensly entertained by this and was like you should post it online. so i made an ao3 acc called watery_meln_baller bc "our fics are so bad they make you want to water melon ball your eyes out". we used to have a whole taglline about using the kudos as a dislike button it was great. over time aru wroye a few more crack fics and i would post them for aru.

then i decided to take a crack (ha) at writing crack fic and was nervous about it, and since th waterymelonballer acc was for crack fics i just uploaded it on there instead of making my own. i had never written fic before and then it blew up and i was like oh damn. im famous. and then i started getting FANART for the fic and people were like do you have a tumblr so i can tag you?? and i was like okay. time to make a tumblr! i did not excpect to actually use it for anything besides being a place where i could post updates and behind the scenes stuff for fanfics

after identity fraud i went back to barely using the account. around the same time aru got into like, danny phantom n shit and then they started using the account a bunch. and began posting podfics, and non-crack fics. so aru used the tumblr for a while, and then they abandoded around the same time i started getting into toh and writing WAB. then i took over the account, started posting shit, and now i've been using it conistsently ever since! oops, sorry aru. ive got a whole circle of mutuals its a great time we are all buddies. aru will pop on here and post occasionally its great. tthere was a bit of time where we weren't talking as much bc of life but now we're back to regular texting and being buddies. but tbh if i had to share a tumblr account with anyone, aru would be the best :]

i know it’s like a year old atp but your older frisk/younger chara dynamic fanart… i am eating well tonight!! god. them!!!

oh man I almost forgot about that!

I like exploring “alternate” but still believable dynamics btwn characters that stray from the firmly held fanon beliefs. I generally subscribe to the idea of Chara being older than Frisk and portray them as such but the truth is we DONT know whos older! and it’s super interesting to explore the avenue of it being Frisk, and not Chara.

There’s some bits of narration that made me raise an eyebrow, like “look at all these cool toys! …they don’t interest you at all” which if you interpret Chara as the narrator, implies their interest and Frisk’s disinterest in the toy pile - akin to a younger kid showing off… like their squishmallow collection to an older one and the older one being like “…uhuh”

But also just!! A lot of Chara’s behaviors read to me as very childish - their tendency to make themself seem big and scary to ward off others, their tendency to be impulsive, not understanding the gravity or consequences of their actions, their anger when you don’t play the game with them “right” and won’t give up your soul, their whole thing with going too far in teasing Asriel… people wanna say that they’re sooo evil for being a mean little brat to their brother and telling him big kids don’t cry but… genuinely that’s just how 8 year olds ARE, they say out of pocket super mean shit constantly because it gets them what they want and they can’t fully grasp the weight behind their words and actions yet.

sorry lol this turned into a ramble but thanks for enjoying that dynamic! I wanna explore it more, the little snippet I posted was based mostly off Luz and Collector’s dynamic in TOH (patient older kid who’s strikingly similar to a younger impulsive kid and sees themself reflected in them, wants to guide the younger one into more healthy and nondestructive ways of expressing themself) but also my own cousin dynamics, the youngest of them is now 9 and the oldest is 15, and the way they (and the others in between) bounce off each other (not even negatively! just very different developmental stages and ways of viewing the world) is so interesting to witness + would be interesting to portray in characters like Frisk and Chara I think

TOH’S end. (Not spoilers though!)

I just finished watching the final episode of The Owl House. I will not give spoilers until some time has passed but I do wanna talk about what it means for me.  Animated Series and Videogames have always had a special place in my heart, they have been the one thing that always bring out the purest of emotions in me, I have felt so much love and joy from the smallest of moments and even sadness too. For me these things, these stories are not just something to watch for fun or entertainment, for me they are art. Animation is an art that is beyond phenomenal because it’s a combination of so many things, an art piece like this has so many things to be talked about, the backgrounds, the colors, the character designs, the characters themselves, props, the story, the voices, gosh darn the music and so much more. I love learning and picking up every detail of these things. Making fanfics, fanart, it’s a way to connect with these worlds, to keep looking into their potential.  I have followed this era of animated series since I was a kid, TMNT 2003 and 2012, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Svtfoe, The Owl House etc. I watched many as they were just starting and was a little late for some others but still, I grew with them and they’re the reason I am pursuing a career that hopefully will let me create a story such as this on my own so others can get to feel what I felt. I feel like with The Owl House an era has ended in many ways and I don’t know what my future holds but it would be really cool if more of these fantastical stories were in it.  I wanna thank all the creators of these shows and hope I can live up to them one day. And thank you The Owl House for filling part of a void that was in my heart, I will hold you there forever. Mari out.
