My digital portrait of Maximilien Robespierre;
- Robespierre was one of the lead members of the Committee of Public Safety and was deeply involved in the infamous Reign of Terror in which thousands of people were executed by guillotine. History has painted very mixed views on figures such as him, so I found it to be a interesting project to approach.
To read a bit on my general opinion and approach on the struggle of reproducing his face, feel free to keep reading below:
I sought to use paintings as primary and the purported deathmask as secondary sources to create Robespierre’s likeness. I had actually set the project aside for many months as I wasn’t happy with the overall quality of my initial version and contemplated giving up and trying again later. Eventually I reworked it and got to a state in which I was content with completing. Overall I tried a few new techniques and tried to put more effort into the clothing this time around. Thank you all for taking the time to read my views on this historic figure.

some eddie munson hcs i have and are very correct because me and him are basically the same person:
he is a cat person and takes care of every stray cat in the trailer park. there is one orange tabby that sleeps on his trailer’s roof that he buys toys for all the time.
he is constantly listening to music, i mean constantly he needs the noise because he hates getting stuck inside his head for too long and he cant focus properly without noise of some kind
he cannot cook jack shit he has almost burned the trailer down like 6 different times. once he forgot to put water in to cook pasta and set the kitchen cabinets on fire
he hates getting angry because it reminds him of his father so instead he digs his fingernails into his palms and tries to memorize his friends facial features
wayne is the one that got him into metal and bought him his guitar because he saw how happy his sweet eddie was listening to iron maiden and only wanted to see him smile like that
he says his favorite color is black but its actually green
he collects rocks he randomly finds in the trailer park or over by lovers lake and sometimes he’d save the prettiest ones to give to a future boyfriend (steve)
he keeps a picture of his mom on his nightstand so hell always remember what she looks like since she died when he was so young, her name was mariann and so he names every cat in the park after her (or variations of it)
he hates getting sick because it reminds him of his mom stuck in bed until she.. he refuses to let anyone help him when he’s sick until wayne finds him crying one night just knowing he’s thinking about her (she was his sister)
he kinda flirts with everyone a little because even though he’s comfortable enough being a “freak” he still craves people’s attention and he wants to be seen out of fear of being left behind
he spent years hating who he was and trying to hide his interests until one day in freshman year when he only had a clean iron maiden shirt left and steve fucking harrington walked past him after 3rd period, looked him up and down and said “cool shirt, munson. their mascot’s name is eddie too right?”
he has admired steve since 6th grade and he skinned his knee during gym class and steve helped bandage him up. they didn’t speak again until that day in freshman year and then once again in eddie’s 3rd senior year.
steve actually made the first move and it sacred eddie to death because he did genuinely think it was a joke. he saw steve’s face fall and he fiddled with a single flower in his hands- a sunflower (eddie’s favorite) and then kissed him.
steve will request eddie to make them fancy dinners and eddie will literally just shove spaghetti noodles in hot dogs and cook them (after many tries and a lot of wayne’s help)
the first time he watches the lost boys he makes it his mission to get steve to dress up as michael and him as david for halloween that year (steve always caves because he cannot resist eddie’s doe brown eyes)
steve had come over once with a book in hand and stupid cute reading glasses on and told him that he finished lord of the rings but he was confused they never got to mordor. eddie stood there shocked, grabbing him by the neck and kissing him but before it turned to a full make out session he handed steve the next two books and burst into laughter
steve and eddie will say ‘i love you’ to each other every waking moment possible because they both need the reassurance and eddie just likes seeing steve blush (and steve is obsessed with eddie’s dimples when he smiles)
eddie steals steve’s tears for fears shirts because he secretly also likes them and thinks steve doesn’t know but he has like twenty pictures of eddie asleep in them
#ok this turned into steddie hcs so fast#but i could keep going#eddie my beloved#eddie makes me so emotional omg#eddie munson#steve harrington#steddie#steddie hcs#steveddie#steve x eddie#eddie x steve#eddie munson i love you with my whole being#eddie munson headcanons#steve harrington hc#eddie munson hc

Nyx x Tamlin’s daughter
Okay so literally no one asked for this but I gotta write when inspiration strikes 😭😭but I got like a whole story line for these two in my head so if people like it I’ll write more
"They're late."
"They'll be here. Just give them a moment."
"I told you they wouldn't come. Tamlin has never gotten over his grudge."
"Anyone else think this is lame?"
"Why are we even doing this?"
"We need to make peace with the Spring Court. This stupid feud has gone on long enough." Feyre declared from her spot at the dinner table.
Nyx thought his presence at this meeting was pointless. It was not his duty to befriend his mother's ex-lover. Alas, Violet, his youngest sister, and him seemed to have been roped into this evening.
"It's been over a hundred years and Tamlin is still pining over you? Yikes." Violet unhelpfully chimed in. Nyx rolled his eyes at her.
"He's not pining over me. I do not know why he has held a grudge all these years, but that's what this meeting is for." Their mother responded. She was obviously nervous from the amount of squirming she was doing in her chair. She had yet to remain still since they all sat down together.
"My High Lord and Lady, Lucien has arrived with your guests." One of the guards entered the dining hall. Feyre let out a deep breathe and adjusted her crown. Something she always did when she felt nervous.
"Send them in."
Nyx had never met the High Lord of the Spring Court, so he was not sure what to expect. Tamlin walked in with more confidence than Nyx would have assumed. He certainly exuded authority. Shoulder length blonde hair, tall, strong build, sharp facial features. Nyx could understand why his mother was so smitten with Tamlin at first. Nyx quickly lost interest in Lucien and Tamlin when the third guest walked into his line of sight. It was a beautiful woman. He could already tell she was young for fae years, but her tattoos and scars revealed she had to be old enough to have lived through the most recent war. Her white blonde hair was pulled up into a half bun much like Cassian often wore his hair. The pieces that were down barely reached her shoulders but a few of the pieces were braided by her ears. She was almost as tall as Tamlin and athletically built. She was built like the Valkyries, all muscle. Nyx thought it made her more intimidating; though, the tattoos on her face made that apparent enough. She had black markings that started above her right eyebrow, curved around her temple, and stopped at her cheekbone. They appeared to be similar to the Illyrian tattoos except hers were harsher, blunter lines. Most Illyrian tattoos flowed and ebbed with the body. These facial markings had defined endings. Perhaps it was a language that Nyx did not know. The tattoos did a good job of emphasizing her sharp facial features. Prominent cheekbones and a long sharp nose along with bright green eyes and large lips made her face more intriguing than conventionally beautiful. She walked with so much confidence that Nyx was certain she was well sought after by many suitors. He would just have to get in line it seemed. He continued to observe her as they all took their seats at the table and exchanged pleasantries. Her face remained impassive though. She gave nothing away. She wore a pale pink dress that Nyx knew was meant to make her seem less threatening. He would not underestimate her no matter how much Tamlin wanted him too. Pleasantries were exchanged all around the table except for the woman who remained silent. Tamlin was less than social which ended up making the greetings more than a little uncomfortable.
"I apologize, but I do not think we have met before." Rhysand began. "Are you Tamlin's wife?"
Nyx wanted to laugh at that. She was much too young to be the High Lord's wife. Besides, if Tamlin had gotten married, Nyx would have heard of it. He was certain his parents would have too. A small smile finally graced her lips as Tamlin snorted a laugh himself.
"I am Isa." Is all she offered. Nyx watched as the small smile continued to play at her lips. She was toying with them. She enjoyed that they didn't know who she was.
"Isa is my daughter and heir to the spring court." Tamlin finally answered after a long pause. Nyx watched as his mother's jaw hit the floor which caused Isa to giggle. It seemed so out of character for the intimidating looking female that Nyx decided to make a game out of it. How many times could he get her to giggle like that in one evening?
"I was not aware you had a daughter, Tam." His mother tried to recover and seemingly failed. The nickname that slipped so easily from her mouth had the high lord's face hardening. Nyx stifled a groan at that. His mother wondered why this high lord did not prefer her company? Perhaps she should stop insinuating that they have known each other intimately at one point or another.
"That would be by design." The woman answered with a slight accent. He didn't hear it when she first spoke, but he could hear it now as the last word was sharper. He couldn't place the accent though. It did not sound like a spring court one, but it could be an eastern accent. It did not make much sense for her to have lived in Hybern or any of the other eastern countries, but he was not sure where else that it would come from.
"What do the tattoos mean?" Violet quickly changed the subject. She was too curious for her age and asked the first thing that popped into her head often enough. She was clearly as intrigued by Isa as he was.
"They protect me from the evils of man." The accent was heavier, but Violet was clearly in awe. Nyx would not be surprised if Violet came home with face tattoos tomorrow. The table became unusually quiet. His mother and father studied her with identical cocked heads. Lucien cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Witch." Amren accused from her spot at the head of the table. Isa's lips twitched into a half smirk, but Rhysand and Feyre were clearly unnerved. Nyx contemplated this new information. It would explain the accent. Young witches grow up in their coven completely isolated from the outside world. Most of the witches he had run into had a variation of this type of accent.
"Tamlin, I want this meeting to broker peace between our two courts," Rhysand started wearily. "But your daughter may not practice any witchcraft here. It only brings chaos and destruction."
Tamlin seemed unphased which put Nyx at ease. If her father was unworried then was she truly a threat? Only if Tamlin wanted her to be, Nyx supposed.
"You will find my daughter more accommodating than myself. If you want something from her, I suggest you ask her."
Rhysand looked towards Isa with raised eyebrows.
"Your lack of knowledge and ignorance of witchcraft is insulting at best. However, I suppose I shall limit my abilities to that of my natural magic for the remainder of the evening." She gave a shrug and finally made eye contact with Nyx.
She sent him a quick wink before turning back to Rhysand with the look of pure innocence on her face. Nyx knew in that moment that she would be trouble, and unfortunately for him, he loved trouble. Nyx looked towards his parents and began to feel unnerved by their expressions. They must know something about witches that Nyx did not.
Nyx had discovered quite a bit from them as he often liked to share a bed with them. They proved to be up for anything with no expectations or strings attached. He would not be surprised if they had a bad reputation though. He rarely paid attention to his history lessons and the witches he interacted with seemed innocent enough.
"My husband meant no offense." Feyre interrupted before Rhysand could say anymore. "We would love to learn more. Perhaps you could give our son lessons on your culture." She gave Isa a wide smile and offered her the first bowl of food. None of the food had been touched even though it sat ready to eat. Nyx guessed tensions were too high for anyone to think about eating.
He narrowed his eyes at his mother. If he were to take lessons from Isa, it would not be to learn her culture of witchcraft, but an excuse to spy on her and learn her strengths and weaknesses. His mother was more cunning than the fae gave her credit for. Isa seemed unphased by this offer, but accepted the bowl of food nonetheless. She was the first to begin eating. Once she took her first bite though, everyone else joined in.
"I would be much more interested in a marriage proposal than a cultural lesson." She said so nonchalantly that most of the table just stared at her blankly as Nyx spit his wine out.
"Sorry." He spluttered, quickly trying to wipe away the wine that dribbled onto his chin. Nyx looked to Tamlin to see that the High Lord was vaguely amused and his daughter was giggling. He noted the giggle in his head as one point in his game to get Isa to giggle. He was still counting it even if it was unintentional this time around.
"We are not arranging political marriages for our children." Nyx's father quickly recovered, only to watch Isa warily as he spoke. "We are allowing the children to marry as they see fit."
Nyx wished his dad would shut up. A beautiful female basically throws herself at Nyx and his father is shooting her down for him. He groaned internally. Nyx could have his pick of females. It was not as if he was lacking in that realm, but he wanted this particular female who was bound to cause chaos. Not that he wanted to marry her, but he had a feeling that she did not want to truly marry him either. After tonight, he had a feeling that the new rule would be that Nyx could marry whoever he wanted to as long as it was not Tamlin's daughter. Though it did seem like a smart move politically. Ever since his mother left Tamlin for Nyx's father, there has been bad blood between the courts. A marriage would be a good way to heal that after all these years.
"Does it appear that my father speaks for me?" Isa smiled as she asked the rhetorical question. Nyx could tell his father did not exactly know how to take that. Was she disrespecting him or being genuine? Nyx couldn’t truly tell either. Although, he had a sneaking suspicion it was the former.
She smiled more than he initially would have thought. Grant it, most of the smiles were sarcastic, but he assumed she would be more like Nesta just based on looks. From this small interaction, she already seemed more like Elain.
"Isa can marry whoever she wants." Tamlin waved his hand as if to say none of it really mattered. Nyx found it interesting that Tamlin would not seem to mind if she were to marry his ex-lovers child.
"Isa is a very odd name." Azriel noted. He had been observing the entire conversation, but had yet to speak until now. Tamlin rolled his eyes. It surprised Nyx how casual the high lord seemed. All the stories he had been told painted Tamlin as someone who demanded proper manners at all times. Isa giggled once again and Nyx was annoyed that he was not the one to win the sound from her.
"Her mother thought it was funny." Was the only explanation he gave. Isa, however, felt the need to embarrass her father.
"It is short for Isabelle and Belle means beauty as does Feyre. My mother thought it amusing to name me after the lover that jilted him."
Now it was not Nyx choking on his wine, but his mother. Violet began laughing at that.
"She sounds like a peach." Amren muttered while sipping on a glass of red wine. He would never have spoken back to the small, scary female, but it appeared that not much frightened Isa.
"She never took life too seriously. Everything was something to laugh at. She was good for dad." Her accent was heavier and her words sharper. Azriel's shadows began to change as if seeking more information on the mysterious mother.
The mother was a point of contention clearly. Nyx kept that thought bookmarked in the back of his brain for when he may need it next. Tamlin cleared his throat and sat up straight in his chair. He looked every ounce a high lord as he started to speak.
"We did not come here to discuss her mother." A tough topic for him as well it appeared. "Some day my throne will be hers and I do not want to leave her with shambles. I was hoping that not only could we come to some sort of alliance, but that if Isa were to find herself needing guidance, then you and your court might aid her in that."
"Why would we need your alliance? Other than a unified Pyrinthian, I see no reason for us to help clean up your messes." Feyre narrowed her eyes at the male. For all her talk about bringing peace between the two courts, she was quick to antagonize the High Lord. Nyx thought his mother was more petty than she ought to be considering the circumstances.
"My court still suffers from your petty vengeance. I would not be so quick to forget, Feyre."
"It is not my fault that your lack of leadership has led your court astray. Perhaps if it was so easy for me to wreck your court, it was not strong to begin with."
Nyx cleared his throat as a signal to his mother that she was getting off topic. He could see his father squeezing her hand as well.
"You will find," Isa interrupted Tamlin and Feyre's back and forth, "that you might prefer me as an ally rather than an enemy." Her tattoos started to glow as if to emphasize her words.
Nyx could not remember ever experiencing glowing tattoos with previous witches, but Isa was also part High Fae which made her more dangerous. Their lack of knowledge coupled with her obvious strength made her someone he did not want to make an enemy out of. At least not yet. He would want to discover the scope of her abilities first.
"Would your coven aid us in war if we were to be allies?" Nyx said instead of allowing his parents to continue to antagonize them. Despite his parents ignorance, Nyx actually did know a few things about witches and where there was one there was many. Best to have them on their side in any sort of issue.
His parents gave him identical glares that cause Violet to muffle a laugh. Azriel and Isa stared at him with curiosity though.
"Would you beg for it?" Her words were heavy with insinuation. It had Violet and Lucien laughing hysterically while every other fae at the table gave disapproving looks. Nyx's eyes widened. She was much too bold for a princess. He needed to assert his authority once more. She had the upper hand against everyone too many times tonight.
"A witch has never asked me to beg before."
"There's a first for everything."
"Unlikely."
"I do not speak for my coven, but if it was found that aiding in war pleased the spirits, then perhaps." She answered seriously as she took a bite of her chicken.
"Or if it prevented extinction of your kind?" Nyx knew their numbers were dwindling which was a point of contention for many of the witches.
"Yes. Or that." She pursed her lips. Obviously displeased that Nyx knew more than his parents. He did not know much more than that, but he would never allow her to know that. He kept the upper hand as long as she was unaware of how far his breadth of knowledge went.
"We would not be able to return the favor. If your coven ever needed help, we could not give it." Nyx cringed as his father continued to insinuate that the witches were less than.
"We would never ask for your help." Her nose crinkled in disgust. "You have no respect for magic and therefore would never be able to help us with our own conflicts."
"I respect my magic."
"No. You feel entitled to your magic. You think you are owed magic because you are a high lord. Witches understand there is a balance to all life. A give and take. We would never take something we were not willing to give. My own father is proof that you do not view your magic in the same way. He was willing to align himself with the enemy for Feyre, only to not get Feyre in the end and be stuck in a deal with the enemy."
"Do not lie to my face. I am too old for that and I know that witches deal in blood magic all the time." Rhysand finally switched to his High Lord voice. It demanded the respect that Isa did not want to give.
"Because they are willing to give what is needed. It is not without consequence when we invoke blood magic. High fae, however, can use their magic for good or evil with no consequences either way. Do you view your death lords as better than us? Your own sister could have ended the world and still reaped the benefits, yet you view my kind as evil? Tell me, where is the justice in that?"
"Enough, Isa." Tamlin snapped.
"They sit here and disrespect my culture, Mom's culture, and yet you reprimand me?" She was incredulous that her father was not defending her. Nyx did not think it would help any even if he did.
"We meant no disrespect-"
"You have done quite enough." Tamlin glared at the High lord of the Night Court.
"We will use this as a learning experience. Ignorance is stupidity. If they choose to be stupid, allow them. Never lose your temper during a diplomatic meeting."
After a very tense pause, Feyre gave Isa a curious look before asking a question.
"What do you shape shift into?"
The question would have appeared to come from out of nowhere if Feyre did not know that Tamlin was attempting to keep his daughter from lashing out. Whatever she shape shifted into was dangerous. After a moment of stiff silence and a staring contest between father and daughter, Isa turned to me.
"I think I need some fresh air. Mind showing me the gardens?"
"It would be my pleasure."

No, I mean, what's your gender? - Whatever I want it to be.
I did it. I knew I would eventually, but I tried to ignore it. Everyone meet my A-Team OC. @datasgirlfriend Feast your eyes on what you have helped to create!
Their name is Anne "Karma" Kelley (she/they). In modern terms, they'd probably call themselves genderfluid, but in the show, she'd just give a shrug or sassy remark whenever asked about her gender due to the time the show takes place and was written in. It would also only use she/her pronouns for her.
Karma is relatively tall for an afab person, standing at around 5'7" or 170cm tall. She's slim and muscular and usually binds her chest if she's not presenting as 1000% fem. One of her most defining features are her birth marks - that the A-Team thought were bruises upon first meeting her since they could only see the one around her left eye. She also has one across her right shoulder and arm and at the back of her left thigh. Her skin is tanned and freckled, her eyes are a very dark brown and her hair is short and dark blonde. Have some more meikers for reference since none of them perfectly show what she looks like:
I might also make a sim of her to see if I can do it better. Either way, moving on:
Anne is their deadname and they'll turn into a raging demon if anyone ever calls them that. The A-Team knows this and they go to all lengths to avoid it. Even if she's presenting as very feminine (for a job, for example), the guys will come up with some way to avoid both her deadname and her chosen name, Karma, because they know it's a bit of a rare one. Depending on the situation, they'll either call her "Miss Kelley", "Kelly" and variations of that name. Face, however, always pulls out his arsenal of terms of endearment and he takes great delight in watching her not being allowed to yell or curse at him for it.
Her "official" A-Team nickname is Kit. Hannibal was the first to use it, though it's unclear if he didn't call her "kid" instead. Face picked up on it and he absolutely loves using the name. The guys all insist it stands for her skills with her makeup kit and a toolkit, but it's pretty obvious that it's an excuse to compare her to a kitten.
Which brings me to Kit's skill set: Using makeup and a fitting outfit, they can make themselves look like a men or women of varying facial shapes - and they can act the part too! Think of drag queens and kings and the way they reshape their face with contour and highlighter. Specifically, Kit does an eerily accurate impersonation of Face, even when viewed up close. Whenever the A-Team uses it in a mission, they refer to it as the "Two-Faced" strategy. She can also do an impression of Murdock, but she finds it hard to get the mannerisms right ("I'm just not insane, Hannibal, I can't come up with what to do or say!"), plus height really becomes an issue with him, so she only does it from afar. With Face, it still more or less works since subtle platforms exist. Kit is also a more than decent mechanic, acting as B.A.'s assistant at times or taking over for him if he can't reach something because he's too big. A former trapeze artist, Kit is strong, flexible and athletic. Any sort of climbing and parcour action usually falls on their shoulders once they're really accepted into the team. They're also a fast runner and will not hesitate to kick or punch someone - or slap, in Face's case. After all, they need him to stay pretty or whatever, so she doesn't hit him too hard.
I think it's become pretty clear that Kit and Face's relationship is pretty special. I mean, we know Face, the ladies' man. To him, Kit is lady enough (though she's considered one of the boys by the likes of B.A. and Hannibal) for him to be flirting with her. He likes teasing her a lot and she knows how to take it, sassing him in return. This is very much a "I would never fall for you!" situation. We all know she will, maybe she already has, but will she admit it? Hell no.
B.A. sees her as a younger sibling. A very feral younger sibling. He might not show it, but he's secretly very proud whenever she beats someone up.
Hannibal has basically adopted her. Something along the lines of "don't you ever tame your demons but always keep them on a leash".
Murdock and Karma are chaotic queer besties, challenging the concept of gender and any kind of normativity together.
The story of how she met the A-Team may also be coming your way. This may be a brainrot. Sound the alarm...

It’s been a while, but I’m finally gonna try and catch up!
It’s been a while, so before I start, I’d just like to say:
And an incredibly belated Merry Christmas to everyone :P
So...on with the answers! :D
__________________________________________________
@plummiesims asked:
I'm gonna be 100% honest I just found ur blog bc sssvitlans re-blogged ur Altus facial hair and I SCREAMED. I love Dorian Pavus So Much :") thank u im probably gonna add it to my game adhsbd;;;
[R]: Ha, thanks :P Stuff like this makes my day XD

Anonymous asked:
Will you be updating the male sims clothing override for the new expansions and dlc? The EA version is trash.
[R]: I’ll try my best when I can :) They are trash but unfortunately, the method I’m using to override them just isn’t working as well on newer meshes :(
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Would the drowned out skinblend be compatible with lumia's vanilla skin or are you planning on making another one?
[R]: It should work with it. I use it over his default replacement skins and they work very well!
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Hi, can you do a female kinky tapered cut type style? both short and sorta high?
[R]: It all really just depends on what I’m wanting to do really, unfortunately :P I’m more leaned to making male based cc, so it really just depends on what I’m feeling. I can never give anyone a straight answer [no pun intended XD], unless I was already thinking of doing it :o
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Can you do a higher version of the vindicator?
[R]: It’s an easy enough ask. I could probably lump it in with some other hairs I’m thinking of giving variations ;)
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Hii my brother loves your content sooo much :) thank youu
[R]: I’m glad he does! Thanks so much for the message! :DD
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Where did you go?
[R]: In to the deep and dark shadows of Real Life XD. I went through somethings, had a couple of jobs and am still looking for one tbh. Played a lot of other games and did some other things. Basically just trying to re-focus my life and sort things out. Other would say that I’m “trying to be an adult” XD
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Wait, is your sims really a man or bear or are you a man (not to offend)
[R]: They can be anything you want’em to be XD
__________________________________________________
@rocknrollvampire asked:
Hello! I'm a SIMS 4 player (obviously) from France. First, thanx for your amazing CC. I would like to know what poses packages and overlays you use with the sims "modeling" for your CC. Thanx for your answer.
[R]: First of all, thank you! Second, most of them were from @vanderetro and a handful of others I can’t quite remember. A lot of the ones I use now tend to be my own custom made poses however.
__________________________________________________
@jonysimmer asked:
Hello, first of all your CC is incredible. Question: Are you planning to do the roll-up version of Ryder's henley?
[R]: I’ve been thinking about doing that, just never got around to it. It’s definitely something I’d plan on doing in the future :)
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Your smooth as fuck v1 hair looks super weird when I zoom out from my sim. It flattens out on the sim's head and looks very strange.
[R]: My earlier did’nt have the complete set of LODs that my newer hairs tend to have. Chances are, when you zoom out, you’re seeing the EA hair I used as an import base in S4Studio :P
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
hi! your sim derrick are amazing omg omg, can you share him please? thank you! keep going!
[R]: Yeah, of course! I’m definitely gonna be sharing him at some point. :P
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Is Just outta bed hair bgc?
[R]: I’m probably a little late to respond, but yes, to re-affirm to everyone, it is BGC. In actual-fact, most, if not all the hairs that I’ve released are BGC ;)
__________________________________________________
@aeonpixels asked:
Hey XLD ^-^ can you imagine to convert also may the long white gown from Mass Effect 3? "Liara Ashley, Liara and Miranda in Dress, from Mass Effect 3 Citadel DLC by nach77 who has an image on his deviantart. If I could I would try it myself but I dunno how to extract such stuff from other games as a bloody noob.. Just started... =) Since you are experienced in that, I thought I would ask... may there is hope for some female clothes from ME, LOL Thanks a bunch for your coversions and creation ;)
[R]: Probs, at some point. Just depends on where I’m at and where my motivations lie! :)
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Hi. Are you gonna possibly upload ME:A sims as well in the future? I cannot wait, because your work is so perfect. Thank you.
[R]: Yeap, this ask would’ve been from a while back, but I do have post showing the order they’ll be released (including some of my anticipated ME:OT character recreations ;))
__________________________________________________
Anonymous asked:
Do you think that you could make a flattop haircut?
[R]: I’ve actually been trying to figure out how to execute this for a while. I feel like someone’s probably done it before though, but I’ll keep trying :P
__________________________________________________
@catewithak asked:
Have you ever considered making more MM Dragon Age hairs? Either gender? I love your Altus, and I also hate alpha texture, but that seems to be the only Dragon Age hair CC I can find!
[R]: Yeah, any bioware-based hairs (*in maxis match*) are usually a rarity. I’ll definitely be trying to fill the void of MM DA hairs where and when I can :)

Hi Xld, huge lover of all your cc (i can't tell you how grateful i am for male clothe and hair cc. I had a question about one of your hairs, i've been noticing that the procrastinator hair would make certain parts of my sim's head shine as if he had some specs. The shine is noticeable in game and when moving household.
[R]: It’s been a persistent issue for a while, and I’ve unfortunately never been able to pinpoint where it’s coming from. I’ve fixed the spec-maps before on my own files, but to no avail. Unfortunately I can’t provide a fix :( I usually don’t mind it too much at this point since it’s not always that visible.

I'm so sorry to bother you but i've been trying for ages to get a mesh into a full body costume like you did with garrus, but i just can't find any kind of resources that could help me out and even though i'm familiar with blender i'm running into so many hiccups! is there any chance you could point me in the right direction e.g a tutorial that you would personally recommend ?
[R]: Unfortunately I don’t have any tutorials I use (most of my endeavors have been purely trial and error). Just look up some general stuff about blender features and get to know what they do. The main thing to do for getting a mesh into a full body ts4 costume is to append the model to the full body costume mesh file, delete the meshes in the LODs containing it and joining the mesh you want to said LODs --> then import to S4S and enjoy :D

I hope this question isn't disrespectful, but how do you usually create your male sims? Thank you very much and hope you have a nice day!
[R]: No disrepect at all! I look around...the internet. Sometimes I just make one until I like what I see. A lot of the time, I’m just messing with other male sims I’ve already made as bases. No formula, no rules, just kinda do what I want :P

Hey, I really really love your Garrus Sims version and I'd love to have him in my game, but unfortunately I don't own outdoor retreat. I was just wondering if you ever got around to making him base game friendly. Sorry if this has been asked before.
[R]: My main issue is finding a full base-game costume to place him in to make him BGC. There probably are ones now, but I just haven’t had the time to sift through the files :o

Hi! I just fell in love with your male sims. Love your work! I tried to recreate them in my TS4, but they look slightly different than your original sims. I checked the cc list, and even used Tray Importer to know which cc items I needed, but I couldn't make it. I couldn't find proper Upperbody cc(which is used in almost every sims you made, id is 892D886D8DC9550E) and skindetailcreasemouth cc(I think this one is replaced by your DrownedOut skin overlay for later sims) and default skin.
'cause I have complete cc list for one of your sims, Kenney, but still he looks slightly different in tones of face and body(I tried Luumia's smoothish 1,2 DR, vanilla), Hiroki's betterbody). Would you please share the information about which default skin replacement & upperbody did you use to make these sims? Thank you! and thank you for your amazing works.
[R]: Doesn’t seem like they’re anything crucial? Usually the only things that really make my sims different is the skin overlay, and using Drowned Out usually makes the difference. I’d have to give this some thought. It’s possible that the upper body mods have to do with the muscle slider I used? Other than that, there wasn’t all that much else to them :/

Hey, I'm not sure if you monitor or update anything still, but I'm a huge fan of the Major hair in particular. I was just wondering if you knew that the Major 2 isn't hat compatible? At least not in my game anyway - newest update. The whole back of the hair disappears when a hat is used which makes them look bald. Just a heads-up I guess (I'm not expecting anything) :)
[R]: Honestly my bad! It’s probably something I forgot to add since I may have posted the file the way it was (’cause I never actually intended on releasing the Major 2 in the first place :P). I’ll try get that rectified when I can.

[R]: Tali’s if friggin’ amazing. I know @bmso85sims‘s been making a few bits of quarian and misc mass effect content as well so I’d check them out. I’ve been struggling myself with converting Quarian content, so it’d be a while before I release anything, let alone Tali unfortunately XD

Hi, I just wanted to thank you again for getting me into the series and for the ME sims , especially John and Kaidan. I'm going to play these two to fill the void that ME left in my heart. They are so sweet together and your short stories encapsulates that perfectly. I couldn't access some of them so I was wondering if they are a WIP. I was also wondering if sth bad would happen if I install John and Kaidan as it says that they are outdated. I love your work and thanks for getting me into ME :D
[R]: Don’t worry, I’ve been filling that same void for years XD And no, nothing bad’ll happen, it’s just that I have newer edits of them these days (and I there’s always something about them that needs tweaking). I’m also secretly an advocate for Bioware [jk, but still XD].

[R]: Looks like there’s a good 10-20% of my original posts (not just CC) that got wiped out in the stupid-ass nsfw ban. I’ll definitely get to reposting them soon and rewiring the download links. They’re still on simfileshare, I’ll just need to be making the necessary fixes for the links. :)

@cejeubeu asked:
Hi there. I just came across your tumblr today and saw some of your uploaded sims. I've downloaded them, but I wanted to send some potential suggestions, primarily one: could you upload the CC in a ZIP containing the tray files for the sim? I've seen a few uploaders do this and it's not only convenient but it's much better than linking the sources, since often times the source can move to a different page or the link given simply may not work anymore, as if the case for some of your pages linked
[R]: For my mass effect sims, the content is usually separated so users can dl the bits they want. Other sims I’ve uploaded usually don’t have a lot of CC associated with them, and are usually the same bits I use across the board, so you only need to download them once from any of the links of my releases. Plus breaking up the downloads into smaller files is easier on my near-dial-up-ass adsl internet speeds (I don’t get fiber where I am since our local district council isn’t looking to update our zone until the mid 2020s).

{Headcanon} Butcher Boys
I~ love Leatherface. I doubt that’s a surprise to anyone at this point, but what may be a surprise is--well actually I don’t have a good segue from that point to the point that I want to write about him, today. I’ve been obsessing over him again, so I wanted to talk about him because he doesn’t get talked about enough.
Anyone could likely guess that’s why I started paying attention to him in the first place. Boy stirs up my Mama Bear like nobody’s business for lots of reasons.
Now, I should mention I sort of split things up a bit differently than what is considered “canon” in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre universe--there’s actually two Leatherfaces: Bubba Sawyer, and Thomas Hewitt. In my head, when it’s just me and my embarrassing thoughts, I merge the two together because it’s easier, but in terms of roaming about the Haus, Bubba and Thomas are both here. Why, you ask?
Because twice is nice, and two adorable Leatherfaces are better than one, why are you asking me stupid questions.
I’m planning on doing dual headcanons so I can talk about the difference and similarity between the two boys, and really just allow me to gush about them because I need to. I’m going to be writing them with the ‘you’ perspective being a random member of the Haus wanting to read more about Leatherface; I’m not sure how Moni feels about the boys (they absolutely adore her already, but I told them they have to wait until I get the all-clear) so I won’t throw her onto their laps...
...yet...
L E A T H E R F A C E The Texas Butcher
First things first, we need to talk about the physical differences between Bubba Sawyer and Thomas Hewitt, because it’s one of the easiest ways to tell them apart, and that way you’ll know who I’m talking about when I refer to them by name for the rest of the headcanons.
And just, you know, because staring at them is nice. ♥
Bubba Sawyer
Bubba’s a big boi
He’s doughier than Thomas is
Round belly and thick thighs, this Texas Cinnamon Roll is A+ for cuddles
Bubba runs hot (boy’s practically a furnace 24/7) but doesn’t seem to notice the heat
0/10 affected by the cold
Don’t let the squishy boy fool you, though; he hauls meat for a living and he does heft a full-sized chainsaw around every single day
There’s fat, but it’s just insulating muscle
Bubba’s got biceps to make any man jealous, and those thighs may jiggle when he walks but they’re tree trunks that have to support his towering frame on top of the bodies meat he hauls day in and day out
If you’re worried about Bubba’s physique being a hindrance, don’t
Bubba’s hair is shorter than Thomas’s, but that’s mostly because it’s curly
Thick, bouncy, unruly dark brown curls that he doesn’t do a thing with
Seriously, someone needs to wash this boy’s hair, I promise it’s worth it; he’ll giggle and try to sit still, but he’ll bounce a little, excited just because you’re paying him attention
Bubba wears a full face mask, always made of someone else’s face/skin, held together by thick leather twine that he ties at the back fo his head
Thomas Hewitt
Thomas is another Biggun
Thomas appears taller than Bubba, but that’s because Bubba is wider
Thomas would argue he has more muscle than Bubba, but there’s really no way of telling; this argument is touted mostly just because Thomas’s muscle is easier to see
Another round belly boi, though Thomas’s chest is broader and his gut is smaller than Bubba’s
Arms, arms, arms
Thomas’s forearms are the stuff wet dreams are made of; thick and veiny, because he’s another butcher who spends his days hauling meat and victims back and forth
Legs like tree trunks, a back broad enough to sleep on, and since Thomas is heavier-handed than Bubba is, his fists really carry the appearance of sledgehammers
Thomas has the power and desire to back that up
Thomas’s hair is longer than Bubba’s and it’s straight--except during humid weather, when it gets a little wavy
His hair is black, not dark brown, but just as thick as Bubba’s
Like Bubba, Thomas doesn’t give two shits about his hair and you’ll need to wash it for him if you want it done
And he does want you to do it, because that means you’ll be close to him
Thomas wears a partial face mask, that has to always at least cover his deformed nose, jaw, and chin. Unlike Bubba, Thomas will wear regular leather, and since it isn’t a full face mask, it doesn’t have facial features, simply an open slit for his mouth
What makes them both Leatherface:
Both Thomas and Bubba suffer from facial scarring and disfigurement due to a degenerative disease and self-mutilation
Bubba’s scarring is more pronounced, as his disease is more aggressive and he’s more prone to self-mutilation than Thomas
This is due to two reasons; one, Bubba is an abuse victim with horrific self-esteem issues, and two, he’s a masochist who enjoys the sensation of pain
Both men suffer from heavy disfigurement in their noses, which leaves their noses all but gone--
Bubba is easily the shier of the two when it comes to his face; he wears a full face mask vs Thomas’s half-mask, and he will not be seen without it if he’s not around someone he loves and trusts
Thomas also wears his mask faithfully around the Family, but he seems to exude a different aura than Bubba so one might assume he isn’t as shy--don’t let the Big Guy fool you. If you’re not one of the two people he loves and trusts, any attempts to take his mask off will result in aggression
Growling, squaring his broad shoulders, and glaring as he pushes your hand away from his masked face
Bubba will just blubber and whine, and duck his head out of your grasp until you stop
Any attempts to remove either of their masks from anyone outside of the Family will get the motorized end of the saw
Personality
Bubba is the teddy bear of the two; he’s squishy, cuddly, and eager to please. Because he’s been abused the majority of his life that’s led to a Pleasing Complex, where he is constantly, desperately searching for acceptance and to know he’s done a good job
Thomas comes from a family that was more supportive and he doesn’t have Bubba’s pleasing complex as a result, but that doesn’t diminish Thomas’s need to provide for the Family and ensure he’s doing his part
Thomas is more the quiet protector or enforcer out of the two; he observes, he’s defensive and overprotective of what’s his, and he is dangerously unforgiving
Loyalty and Family are both incredibly important to both men, and neither one will hesitate when it comes to killing to protect or defend anyone who calls the Haus home
Because of the abuse in Bubba’s past, he is quick to over-correct bad behavior and will overcompensate to correct even the slightest mistake
Both Thomas and Bubba share an incredibly strong work ethic, which has been ingrained in them by their original families for years and years
Both men are mute as a result of their degenerative disease
This has led to incorrect assumptions that either or both men are slow or retarded; there’s been no proof of this.
Bubba cannot read as his family never tried to teach him (as they themselves treated him as though he was retarded) and Thomas never put much stock into school (he didn’t/couldn’t attend due to his disfigurement) but he is able to read simple words and sentences
Bubba can recognize his own name when it’s printed
Thomas knows ASL but most aren’t aware as he doesn’t usually sign back--this is by choice, by the way, not because he can’t
Despite not being able to speak, Bubba is a noisy boi
Giggles, sighs, inquisitive noises, moans--Bubba likes to express himself and will do so in any way he can
Thomas is the quieter of the two, as Bubba prefers to babble like a toddler, expressive even though he can’t actually speak
Some mistakenly believe Thomas can’t make noise but that isn’t true. His noises are deeper than Bubba’s, and he prefers grunts and groans to giggles and soft sighs
Bubba is not afraid of expressing emotion
Thomas is more reserved about the showing of emotion, but if he is shown emotion he will reciprocate immediately
Bubba answers to any variation of his name, but sadly he will also respond to any negative names people call him due to his family taking to call him “Retard” when he was growing up
Do not call Thomas anything negative if you like your head where it is
In fact, just call Thomas by his name; no nicknames outside of Tommy, just to be safe
Both men answer to Leatherface
Quirks / Traits
Both Thomas and Bubba prefer chainsaws over any other weapon of choice and it’s become something of a security blanket for them both, as it’s a way for them to defend themselves and the Family
While he’s working, Bubba prefers hammers and butcher knives
Thomas prefers meat cleavers or his bare hands
Bubba is an excellent cook
Seriously, let this boy cook for you and you’ll have a belly to match his in no time; he’s been responsible for cooking for the Sawyers for years and it shows. He knows his way around any and all cuts of meat, and if you praise him a single time over his cooking he’ll be trying to feed you constantly
Thomas knows how to cook, but he prefers to prepare the meals and leave the actual cooking to Bubba or someone else. It’s not that he’s against cooking, it’s just he’d rather do the hacking and slashing. He likes his hands dirty
That is also where the boys differ
Bubba was raised to believe it’s Family against the world, and was taught to murder through abuse and thus was never actually taught it was wrong. Any attempts to tell Bubba that killing people is wrong will be met with confused puppy head tilts and blubbering to the contrary
It can’t be wrong if it’s for the Family!
As a result, Bubba is fiercely protective of the Family and the Famlly property, and he’s a saw first, ask questions never kind of guy
Be patient with him, he doesn’t know any better and he thinks that’s how it’s supposed to be
Thomas, on the other hand, knows better. He was raised to understand right from wrong and he knows that, on some level, killing and cannibalizing people is “wrong” in the eyes of the law
But the law is wrong
Thomas won’t care if you try to change his mind about that; he likes the way people taste and he doesn’t care about anyone who isn’t Family, so you may be wasting your time trying to convince him otherwise
Besides, Thomas is a butcher, and he slaughters farm animals all day. There’s no way that’s right but killing people is wrong. He’s a simple man but he’s not stupid
Bubba does not leave the Haus properties; he has a wide array of masks but all of them are made of human flesh and he can’t exactly leave the safety of the Haus properties wearing someone else’s face
Thomas will leave the Haus properties; he might get weird stares wearing his half-masks but he’s a hulking behemoth anyway, so he’d be stared at regardless
Bubba enjoys classical music, especially when he’s working
He knows he’s hideous (why do you think he hides behind someone else’s face?) but the music is so pretty it makes him think of pretty things, like flowers and sunshine, and for a little while he can forget his own face while he sits and listens
Thomas prefers bluegrass or rock
He needs something loud, and he likes that some of the songs he can relate to on a more emotional level. Music can help him express himself as he can’t speak, and he likes the way it feels
Bubba only likes cold drinks; sweet teas, sodas, milk!!!, and beer
Thomas is fine with anything; he will drink black coffee, and he prefers darker ales when he’s drinking beer
Affection
Both boys are absolutely touch-starved and crave affection, so there’s never a worry anything is considered “too clingy” for them
Bubba is unused to positive touch at all, so he’s going to be over the moon with the smallest gesture
A pat on the head? He’s cooing
A hug? Hope you don’t have anywhere to be as he’s not letting go
A kiss on the cheek? You’re not crying, he is
Bubba will openly seek out and ask for affection, and he’ll be clingy even when he shouldn’t be, as the boy isn’t afraid of being hit or pushed away
Unlike some abuse survivors, Bubba isn’t discouraged by anger or shows of aggression, so even if you try to push him away, he’ll shuffle to the side and then immediately try again
You’ll have to forgive him; he’s touch-starved and in desperate need of some TLC, preferably 24/7
Thomas doesn’t come from an abusive background (per se) but he also was never really given affection so he’s just as touch-starved as Bubba is
Thomas won’t seek out affection like Bubba, but he’ll make it clear that’s exactly what he wants
Oh, you were putting your hand there? Well, his just happened to be there before yours
Were you going this way? That’s nice, so was he, and you won’t mind if he walks close to you, right?
You’re going to bed? He’s already in bed waiting for you, you’re the little spoon, good night
Thomas is always the Big Spoon; that’s just his preference as he prefers to curl his body around yours, one arm beneath your head, his other arm curled completely around your middle, and he’ll sleep with his cheek against yours
Thomas sleeps between you and the door always, because he’s distrusting and overprotective, which makes for an overbearing combination so i hope you don’t mind being smothered and also never out of this man’s sight just in general
Thomas is a wall of muscle and he’s pretty intimidating up close, especially since he can’t speak...and he likes to stare at you until he falls asleep
You’re just...the prettiest thing he’s ever seen, and he’s a man who has known a lot of ugly in his life. You can’t blame him for wanting to appreciate beauty now that he finally has it
I hope you used the bathroom before you got in bed, because Thomas’s grip is like iron. You’re not getting up without him
Bubba will switch between the Big and little spoon; depending on how his day went or what mood he’s in when it’s time for bed
When he’s the Big spoon, he prefers to sleep with you facing him, but given Bubba’s a big boi he’s plenty tall enough to bury his face in your hair, his arm around your lower back and the other around the middle of your back, keeping you locked to him all night
Remember when I said Bubba’s a furnace? This boy generates heat
You really won’t need any covers with him, but he likes snuggling under them with you anyway
Please don’t try to leave him in the middle of the night; if he wakes up without you, he will panic, and he will be a blubbering mess by the time you come back to bed--it doesn’t matter if it’s just to go to the bathroom, wake him up to tell him because the fear of losing you terrifies him
If Bubba’s the little spoon, he still prefers to sleep facing you, so anytime he opens his eyes you’re the first thing he sees. He sleeps with his head buried in your chest, his arms cinched tight around your middle
Other sleep arrangements include--
Sleeping on Thomas’s chest
Bubba half-crushing you by insisting he sleeps on top of you (especially if you are prone to getting out of bed without telling him)
Being wedged between both bois, trapped with zero hope of moving until both of them are awake and ready to let you go for the day
NSFW
You don’t need me to tell you, do you?
Everything is bigger in Texas
You don’t need to worry about any disappointments in the bedroom when it comes to the Sawyer boys, because the downstairs matches everything else
Girth, length--it’s all designed to leave you shaky, sore, and pregnant
Bubba’s cock has more girth, but Thomas has him beat in length
Bubba will stretch your walls to the point of discomfort and he won’t know any better, because he’ll be too busy burying his face in your neck to stifle the needy, wanton cries he’s making because you’re so tight
Thomas will knock your bottom out and he’ll take your scream to mean it’s good, he’s good, keep going--and he will, because he can’t stop now that he’s finally, fully inside you
Bubba, despite being raised on a farm, has very limited sexual experience. He’d seen his uncle’s magazines that had been stashed under the bed when he was living back home, but he didn’t understand what he was looking at
But what Bubba lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in eagerness
This boy is a pleaser in every sense of the word, and you’re going to have a fight on your hands if you’re wanting to please him for once, because he can’t keep his hands, his lips, his body off of yours long enough to understand there’s things you can do to him
Thomas has a little more experience than Bubba; he was also raised on a farm, but he paid more attention to the animals and he knows what breeding looks like
And trust and believe, Thomas will breed you
You’ll barely be able to get ahold of the edge of the mattress to steady yourself on your hands and knees before Thomas is drilling you into it, perhaps misunderstanding that the deeper he is, the more likely you are to be pregnant
You’ll have to forgive him, he’s just so needy...
Bubba is a S/switch, but he’s predominantly a submissive
Bubba’s kinks include praise, humiliation (abuse has unfortunately warped his masochistic tendencies into thinking this is love), S&M, littlespace (Bubba is both a little and a Daddy, depending on the situation/day) edging/orgasm denial, incest (Bubba comes from a close Family), forced feeding (you’ll be on the receiving end of this, every time), lactation, roleplaying (he’s got a wildly overactive imagination, so he’s extremely good at this), marking, necrophilia, and cannibalism
Bubba will pretend that he doesn’t like when you fight him, but he’s spent his whole life chasing down victims; he gets a thrill from the chase and the capture, so if you run from him, he will chase you down
If you don’t expressly tell him not to, he will chase you down with his chainsaw
But don’t worry, he won’t hurt you with it! He’ll just make you sit right on top of it’s vibrating handle until you’re a shaking, sticky mess, terrified of the spinning blade and trusting the iron grip around your middle not to let you slip and be split right in half
After-care is hugely important for Bubba even after normal sex, especially if he had his mask off during
Kisses, cuddles, letting him hold you as tightly or as closely as he wants, taking baths together, eating together--it doesn’t matter what you do, just be there with the Big Guy and he’ll be happy
He just needs you
Thomas is a Dom. Full-stop, he does not submit and he will expect you to, eventually
Thomas’s kinks include DD/lg (Thomas is a strict but caring Daddy Dom), edging/orgasm denial, S&M (Thomas is both a sadist and a masochist), forced feeding (again, this one is entirely you), breeding/forced impregnation, rape, necrophilia, marking, cannibalism, pet play (Thomas has a thing for collars and leashes) and bondage
Bubba doesn’t exactly like you in his workspace (it’s dangerous! What if you get hurt?!) but Thomas likes you down there--but on his terms. You’ll either be strung up on a meat hook (hung by a rope, not impaled--unless you tell him you want to be) with your feet barely touching the ground, so he can touch/fuck you as he likes while he works, or you’ll be lying in a pet bed beside his workbench so he can drop onto his haunches and feed you scraps through the day
Like Bubba, Thomas enjoys chasing you down, and even if you tell him not to...he may still chase you with his chainsaw. He’s pretty attached to the fucking thing, and he likes how wet you get when you’re scared
Thomas loves when you fight him, so go right ahead
Thomas takes aftercare seriously, and please don’t forget that he’ll need some of that, too. Thomas is a Dom but he’s also a man with a broken soul, so he’s going to need you to stay close to him, to stroke his hair or let him brush yours, to take baths together or let him slowly come down by marking you as much as he wants. It makes him feel better, to know you’re his
No matter the situation, the boys will have rules for you, and they do expect you to follow them
Bubba’s rules include do not talk to strangers, no leaving the Haus property without telling him, do not eat without him, do not go to bed without him, do not get out of bed without him, and no going into his workspace without him
Thomas’s rules include no talking to strangers, no leaving the Haus without him, do not go to bed without him, do not get out of bed without him, do not leave his sight if you are not with the Family, do not cover up his marks
Punishments for rule-breaking generally means a spanking, and both boys have hands calloused and large enough to count as a paddle, so you’re really not missing out on anything since they don’t use toys
Bubba prefers to bend you over his lap, but Thomas will bend you over any surface or even force you against a wall
If you continue to break the rules, the punishments will escalate to orgasm denial, branding (yes, that kind of branding), being tied to the bed/restrained, forced orgasms, and even forced impregnation
The boys will never punish you in a way that separates you; neither of them could stand the separation
Bubba doesn’t actually like punishing you (well...maybe he does, a little) but Thomas is entirely fine if you want to challenge the both of them left and right. They’ve both got a heavy hand--
But you knew that, by now, didn’t you?
#{theme} : headcanons#{character} : thomas hewitt#{character} : bubba sawyer#{ this turned into a goddamn character study }#{ but...it was nice to write }#{ i could talk about them for hourssss }#{ if nothing else it was good practice for learning/studying other characters later }

Year 3 - Research, Methodologies and Outcomes - Week 4 - 6 / Create a body of work exploring and developing ideas generated from any aspect of week 2, 3 or 4.
Back to painting on canvas - testing oneself, breaking though the fear. Trying to keep it loose and inject elements of color, however not too much at this stage. Trying to slow things down and be considered but also spontaneous, going with those surges of emotion, connection (I think painting is a mixture of both deliberate, intuitive, considered, spontaneous. This work is also taken from family archives (Auntie Janet on her death bed or should I say place of rest, solace, accompanied by her gorgeous teddy made lovingly by her sister - this teddy gave her much comfort and was a constant presence through her illness.
Pink a little over-powering so need to tone it back - put the painting on a flat surface and added a layer of light pink paint diluted with water.
Used pink (photo of rag) as I was utterly obsessed with that color as a child, I use to draw and color in with pink felt tips and black graphic pens - everything was Pink, Pink, Pink which is interesting as I am not a particularly girlie girl. I remember a pink bouncy ball my Mother bought me which was the perfect Pink, I was totally in love with the color. At some point I would like to do an entire work paying homage to Pink.
Used red pen to define the drawing (most important to have visual clarity). Observed the painted under layers of grey and white and off white, great to show depth and variation of tonality. Followed by a layer of acrylic ink - then loose white paint over the top.

(Above Image - Rachael Burke)
Now adding loose/sketch type marks over the top - with the intention of keeping it childlike (using black house paint).
(Above Image - Rachael Burke)
(Above Image - Rachael Burke)
Added additional black paint to the background behind the pillow.
(Above Image - Rachael Burke)
Added a layer of white paint to tone down, make more ghost like and to try and keep the work loose.
Upon reflection the above two whited out images work quite well as a painting in it’s entirety. I like the fact that you can see the under painting and mark making. The marks around the eyes are a little square, but I like how the paint kind of works like a mask.
Added some black hair - went over the eyes again then applied a black acrylic wash over the top - forming drips, blending into the background - this is when the painting came alive for me, capturing a rawer emotional state. There is a long way to go but this feels like I am beginning to build the framework.
Painted black crosses to build up the bedding - then added them to the overall background of the work, potentially too much, distracting the eye. When you rub back the black paint on the cross with water it leaves quite a lovely mark (almost a transparent imprint of the shape) very useful for building up layers, taking them off, partially obscuring).
Added two additional characters as the negative space, well the work didn’t appear balanced, there was too much space between the character and the teddy bear, the teddy bear seemed to be floating in space. Also the bed spread appeared to be a dominant feature and I want it to be more integrated.
I am finding the adding of paint/mixed with water really effective. The paint is drippy and loose on the canvas, it helps when trying to distort the figure - You then grab a rag and wipe off excess drips that you don’t want - but more importantly you can blend/merge it into the canvas - will have to add more paint at some point as to provide contrast/light and shade. As discussed with Noel - sticking to a restricted color pallet at this stage, if need be I can add elements of color by way of collage or paint.
I think the painting is beginning to work - however the faces do need a bit of pairing back by way of gentle painterly application - adding/obscuring.
The faces were very patchy so just slowly building up faces and bodies, with the intention of keeping it loose - now working more on the composition.
Added additional white paint to the faces as I was starting to become more precious - I want to distort reality not represent it. Darkened the top background, removing the pillows, trying to make better use of the negative space - also raised the top of the bed spread further up toward the characters.
(Above Images - Rachael Burke)
Upon reflection I do think I have built the faces up too much - obscuring the lovely painterly marks underneath. PAINTING IS HARD!!!!
Figuring out if I am at the collage stage. I think I need to look at all the mark making (painterly application) first, making sure it is where I want it to be as I don’t want to wet the collage elements. Also need to make the decision as to whether I clothe the characters.
PAINTING IS HARD WORK AND A CONSTANT TEST OF FAITH. IT IS A REAL STRUGGLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO MAKE CONSIDERED AND EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - I WORK QUICKLY WHICH I KNOW IS FINE FOR ELEMENTS OF THE PAINTING PROCESS. I MUST REMEMBER THAT THE CREATIVE PROCESS IS A MATTER OF FAITH, TRUST AND PATIENCE.
Decided to start cutting faces from found photographic books as I do feel I have reached a point with the painting - I am getting a little lost and I don’t want to over do it as giving myself 7 days to complete this work. I also think if I collage elements on to the painting it may help with figure out if I need to add/remove paint. I am getting so impatient, I need to slow down and persevere.
(Above Image Rachael Burke)
As soon as I start cutting I see assemblages everywhere - the below image is cut out facial parts thrown on the couch - thought it looked quite interesting and of course, beautifully random.
(Above Image Rachael Burke)
So I then began to make a series of black and white assemblages by way of quick construction - they are not glued down. I then photographed them. I do think they are very effective and dynamic. I know I used photography quite a lot toward the end of year 2 - It is definitely still a medium I am drawn to. As I mentioned at the end of year two I would somehow like to combine photography with painting and collage by way of mixed media - to this we aside is worth the experimentation.
(Above Images Rachael Burke)
I enjoy this far more than painting an entire painting as it suites my spontaneous nature, HOWEVER I will go back to creating my large mixed media work and I will APPLY PATIENCE. I do think this holds great value - it is slightly painful (at times) but that indicates it is worth it!!!!!
Was contemplating for the next work using acrylic ink/acrylic paint and found photographic image (I do have to watch my supply of materials at this sparse/shut down time) - I guess it will forcibly take my work in new exciting directions as I will have to be totally resourceful by using what materials I have available. I do consider resourcefulness to be part of my art making methodology, and I am not just saying that in order to save cashola. We are an over-indulgent, throwaway culture and I certainly don’t want to unnecessarily contribute to that!!!
So I am back to the larger scale work - this time mapping out my collage elements (of course I am not gluing them down at this early stage) - I am only using facial elements, hands and arms - they rest of the form will be painted, therefore it is crucial to make sure the composition is balanced and fills the canvas effectively and proportionately. As you can see in the below image previous painterly application is being utilised.
Below images inspired by photograph of Mama and her Sisters and the Teddy on Janet’s bed.
(Above Images - Rachael Burke)
The characters have been glued down - i then decided to use vivid pen to map the outside of the figure. I chose to do this as a way of marking out and isolating the figure from the paint and to see what the contrast of the crisp graphic aesthetic of vivid looked like against the loose application of paint. Another we nod to childhood drawing, of coloring in the lines.
(Above Images Rachael Burke)
After conversation with Matt I realised that I have been going through the motions - not pushing myself into new territory stylistically.
I couldn’t ascertain if I was using the vivid pen to quicken the process up as I had been too-ing and fro-ing with this work for over a week. I applied vivid to the figures giving hem clothing of sorts (as portrayed in the original photograph). The vivid was too dominant, it appeared to be combative, not working in conversation. so I added additional marks to the surface by way of dots/and small surfaces of black paint to make the work cohesive and it give the surface a little more complexity by way of texture, plus my Mother and her Sisters were complex creatures with many layers beneath the surface.
(Above Images - Rachael Burke)
I have been pondering about what it means to be safe in the work - whilst I certainly am not painting or creating by numbers, and there is a level of challenge and decision making - i was not excited, nothing seemed to be driving the work forward. So I tried to connected with the canvas more organically, trying to break through making it perfect, doing so with the application of White paint. Painting expressively and vigorously, firstly in an attempt to integrate the vivid with the paint (partially obscure it) but mostly trying to connect intuitively with the the work - It felt good.
I started by applying a light but vigorous application of paint over the surface of clothing, the dots previously made gave the canvas a raised surface and I was pleased with how it looked - I just kept going/obscuring the black vivid lines - increasing the amount of paint - decisions were being made in a raw and more connective manor.
As the other two characters had less built up surface on their clothes (as at that stage I had only created one character’s attire - I decided to paint their clothes by way of applying black paint - I became impatient waiting for the paint to dry so just kept going, painting over elements of the surface until it turned grey (all of my Mothers family had grey hair) - this worked providing a distorted, shadowy effect on the surface of the canvas. Distorting the figure is relevant to expressionism as a way of conveying inner-feelings. It is also relevant to conceptual ideas in my work - obscuring the character/not bringing them entirely into view/concealing/revealing/transitory/emerging - coming forth with trepidation - wanting to be seen and unseen.
The surface was beginning to look interesting , you could see some of the layers underneath (what sits beneath the surface could be seen as a metaphor for self) - with the paint over the top/again a play on the hidden and revealed.
(Above Image - Rachael Burke) 1000mm x 780mm (large scale)
I then had the feeling that the painting could go no further, it could if I was to add light and shade around the figures, by using grey and black paint (which would have been an interesting metaphor for the light and dark of the self). However, I decided to to follow my instincts and began to cut through the canvas - the feeling of cutting up dolls cloths, or cutting through skin. I guess I gave up the image in it’s entirety as a whole work to make multiple works and to work more intuitively (I have never been drawn to completed works on canvas - something I should have done more of this term) - I think I am still hung up on a series of getting it all right.
I sat on the deck with my scissors feeling like a child at play - now starting to get excited about the work, the uncertainty of where it was going - the joy of working spontaneously. I cut the figures out and placed them in my bed with my pillow behind them (once again the original photograph used was of all my aunties in the bed) - I will remember to document all photographs considered and not considered. The photographs didn’t read well (I didn’t take one SORRY MY BRAIN) the painted bodily form where to disruptive and combative, disrupting the work, disturbing the eye. The collage elements worked well. Cutting the figures from the canvas makes the figure more defined present in the world. Where as distorting the figure works with the conceptual ideas behind the work.
I decided to return to the plastic bag methodology I used last year as I wanted to see how a mixed media image read inside the bag. Where they as strong and as interesting as the found photographic images manipulated and placed inside the bag?
I chose a pink plastic bag as a nod o my favorite childhood color (PINK). The photographs had a slight carnival feel to them, they had a chaotic energy (my amazing Mother and her wonderfully eccentric Sisters had a chaotic energy - so that could be useful for developing and deepening concepts around childhood landscape). However, once again I didn’t like the painted bodily form inside the bag - they may have looked better inside a black bag (which sadly I didn’t have access to). I am enjoying the work with color in the background - gives another dimension to the work.
Again after talking to Matt, I re-read the brief and the first thing I thought was RE-READ THE BRIEF AND KEEP RETURNING TO IT DURING THE COURSE OF THE TERM!! It talked about developing a strand of work. I know this term was to be considered more of a diagnostic term - trying different methodologies and ways of working - I was going to attempt to do an emotional connective abstract painting (Tracey Emin style) - but again got trapped in the makings of what I know, safe, too safe - This is not beneficial to my growth. I needed to look at the methodology and outcomes chart and get excited about trying different modes of making.
I cut the hands and faces from the painted bodies - they were now redundant. What would have been interesting is if I had access to Sanji at SKAR image lab as he could have enlarged a found photographic image of my choice and we could have implanted the characters, adding additional collage or paint. I can still do this with the faces I have but they will have to fit into A4 or smaller page in a book, and once again this is a revisitation of a methodology last year.
Adding one of the black ad white faces to a ripped image of Clauda Schiffer from a fashion magazine (again, I used fashion magazines last year) the MO brief chart had auto-biographical/childhood/representation/deconstruction. Whilst the deconstruction/reconstruction is relevant as it relates to the construction of identity.. Perhaps deconstructing and reconstructing the human form by way of collage is about assembling and piecing together fragments of identity. Exposing the hidden and excising the revealed. I think of it as the shedding of skin. Also as a child I constructed my own version of reality - However, I still wasn’t meant to making work about the nature of representation and beauty, relating to concepts I explored last year. The Red background of this work is dynamic - it also relates to my Mother and her Sisters favorite color, they were red a lot, as well as red lip stick - Red is the color of passion - it is also the color of “stop” and “danger”.
i am quite drawn to the “Style” collage - Again it potentially refers to the nature of representation but it could also be read as the shadow self (light and dark) the exterior and internal self. I guess if it is taken out of a fashion magazine it leans again toward beauty/ageing - the nature of representation (again a re-visitation to last year) arghhhhhhhhhhhh!!! The black and white contrast is strong aesthetically/again light and dark/two sides of the self. What I do like with this work is the introduction of text - which I think is particularly relevant to the concepts I explore in my work.
“the discipline of using your negative emotions and turning them into something beautiful - that is a great life lesson to use”.
I cut the teddy bear out. I really like this image of the teddy - The way it is constructed with multiple layers and maniacal eyes - it appears rather sinister. The human foreheads I used for the teddy ears gives the feeling of a genetically engineered human/animal (laboratory). I then placed the teddy head in a found photographic image - I loved the macabre feel of the black and white image - the use of light - it felt still, silent, the tension felt palpable like the teddy was on the precipice of something - the teddy definitely has a foreboding presence/something you couldn’t quite trust, yet a teddy was something that was meant to bring you comfort and reassurance - Now we are getting to the heart of things. I only thing that didn’t read well was the baby - with no racial intention whatsoever, it was the wrong color/race and I should and can still turn it into an adult which would make it more interesting and aligned with childhood trauma. I have not glued the image yet so there is the opportunity for reinterpretation. (I am still using similar modes of construction and methodologies - so even the work may be more conceptually moving in the right direction so that is a form of opening up I am still not opening up and expanding in other areas of making).
(Above Image Rachael Burke)
Found an image of a baby suckling on it’s Mama. I thought I would try and use different materials as I am wanting to explore childhood I thought I would use pastels. Layers of crayon, blending, merging, then scraping back - then painting over with white paint again, then scarping back.... (concealing/revealing). I then tried to place the image in a book but it wasn’t reading well with anything, I should have been patient and returned to the work the next day, perhaps incorporating it with a drawing or something different, yet I kept cutting until I had nothing interesting to use. Impatience and not knowing when to stop to consider future possibilities within the work. i have been trying to consider why I use certain materials and how I apply them to a particular surface. Crayon a visual ode to childhood/the joy of coloring giving something life and expression/the expressive nature of childhood). I applied it directly and quickly as if trying to make something appear. I also smudged the crayon, trying to integrate it but also trying to rub away parts of the surface - like peeling back a layer of skin/or childhood disappearing.
(original found photographic image)
(Adding crayon)
Scratching back/scars/devoid of life force/concrete/internal sadness sitting on the surface of the skin - All ideas I explore in my work.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people imagining quirks for Izuku from BNHA. This idea came to me when I was thinking about how Izuku’s father had a fire breathing quirk, and how something that seemed to come up at times when people were imagining different universes where Izuku had a quirk( aside from the one her received from All Might) is the idea of people having variations of a primary or beginning quirk. In this case imagining that his father’s fire breathing quirk was a descendent of a dragon quirk that gave the individual the ability to take the form of a dragon. What if Izuku had a quirk that was a throwback to that original? As for the quirk I imagined it would be called something like Dragon Soul or Dragon Walker.
The Dragon Quirk: -this quirk would allow Izuku to take the form of a fire and smog type dragon. This would give home the ability to breathe fire as well as be able to breathe and secrete a poisons gas ( maybe even a venomous bite)through certain points on his body. - while having a Dragon form gives him a good range of abilities( with his fire, smog, flight, etc) he is not capable of partial transformations because they can be dangerous. Also he is not capable of using his fire or gas ability in human form without risking harm to himself since his human body wasn’t built to withstand it. - to keep some of the story in the beginning the same ( with Izuku being mocked and labeled as useless by Katsuki and his classmates) he would only initially be aware of the first form he can change into, which is pictured above. In this form he is only about 2'6" tall( slightly smaller than an average mainecoon cat for perspective). As a result he is mocked for being an overgrown lizard because while his abilities are useful they are limited by his size. His toxic gas can only really make people nauseous or dizzy, and while his breathe attack still burns, it doesn’t compare to the roaring inferno of the dragons of fables and stories. However, there is a hidden second form to his quirk. The second Dragon form of izukus that is much larger at about 7 ft tall and is much more capable for combat than his initial form. His fire becomes a much more lethal and his smog can become debilitating. The trick to his secondary form is that it will only reveal itself at times of great stress or danger( like during the events of the USJ arc when they first encounter the villain alliance) until he learns to control it. I haven’t drawn the large form of his quirk yet but I can describe its differences( which will happen towards the end) - because izuku thinks his quirk is limited to his small form he doesn’t believe it will be much help when fighting real villains. This is only reaffirmed for him when he barely manages to escape the slime villain before being saved by All Might, and again when he tries to save Katsuki and is helped out by All Might( like in cannon). so he still ends up asking All Might if he can become a hero despite his quirk. - when ( or of)Izuku receives ‘one for all’ it has an interesting reaction with his quirk. Initially he is unaware because he keeps trying to use it without his Dragon form, but ‘one for all’ actually added a new element type to his Dragon form. With it he becomes a fire, smog, and wind type. ‘All for one’ allows him to make powerful punching or slicing gales with his wings and breathe. Or it can be combined with his other elements as well. The winds helping him stoke and feed his fires, and allowing him to blow his poisonous smog over larger areas. Also since his Dragon form is much sturdier than his human form it doesn’t experience the painful draw backs that he does when he was first learning how to use it in his human form( he would still learn how to harness ‘all for one’ effectively in his human form).
Dragon form appearance:( this will include the notes on my drawing of his small form since I know my hand writing is crap XD) Coloration: both large and small forms would have a similar color scheme. With his primary scales being a forest green with spots( inspired by his freckles and red shoes) that would be a bright red, maybe a candy red or other variation. The bright color of his spots would be a form of natural warning that he posses poison. His fur would be the same as his human hair with a black base and green highlights. His horns and claws would also be a black color. As for his eyes an electric green would stand out against his spots and make them noticeable. Eyes: in his small form Izuku’s eyes are very rounded, and have a circular pupil which help give him a friendly appearance. However, his large forms eyes are more sharpened with a slit pupil to make him more intimidating. Spots: both forms have the brightly colored spots in the same places. These spots are where he excretes his smog from. They lose their vibrant color as he uses up his reserves and will become dull until his body replenishes what he used. He can control the potency of his toxins at all times. Ears: I call them ears but that’s not entirely what they are. In his small form he has appendages that come from behind his horns, and look like bunny ears. While they do function like ears and detect sounds, they can also detect smells in the air. I haven’t decided if these will transfer over into the large form, but if they do they will likely be smaller and less prominent when compared to his horns. They also have red spots on the very end that are also capable of excreting toxic gas. Wings: in his small form Izuku’s wings are long and narrow like a swallows. This means that he is very fast and nimble in the sky, capable or making hairpin turns. it makes him an efficient flyer and capable of flying frequently. However he lacks overall power with his flight and can’t go for extreme heights or distances. In his large form his wings become shorter and wider like a hawks. This means that he isn’t as fast when soaring, but he gains more power and can make up for the speed with his diving attacks which allow him to accelerate rapidly using gravity for devastating attacks. Legs and hands/ feet: in both forms these remain much the same. His front feet are like hands with short digits that grant him the ability to grasp and climb, but they are short enough to not interfere with his running. His hind feet have short digits, like a cat or dog, and help him run. His legs hind legs are particularly strong and are capable of launching him into the air for flight or even just for jumping large/ high distances. He is also equipped with sharp talons that can cut into concrete and some metals in his large form. Hair: while both forms have hair running along their spin it differs. In his small form his hair is soft and fluffy, very similar to his hair in human form. In his large form his hair loses some of its fluffiness and becomes more sleek and silky. Tail: in his small form his tail doesn’t really have any extra features. It is versatile and capable of grabbing onto things, and has a whip like end or sturdy middle that could inflict bruises if he swing hard enough. However in his large form his tail would probably have spikes or blade like growths on the end. Horns: in his small form his horns are still sharp, but there are fewer and they are smaller with small stubby ones closer to the top of his head and longer ones point towards the back. In his large form those two sets of horns increase in length and he gains an extra curving set coming from his jaw as well. Overall facial and body structure: his small form is overall rounder softer than his large form. In fact his small forms head was somewhat modeled after that of a boa. In his larger form his nose gains some length and his lips gain sharper tooth like curves. The end of the nose remains rounded, but the bottom of his chin gains a slight point to it. The larger form is overall sharper and less friendly looking.
This is just an idea I had bouncing around in my head and wanted to put down. Sorry about the length of it, but if anyone actually read all of that I’m impressed because it was excessively long and I need to learn to make things short and sweet.

Use these products to pamper yourself or to create a romantic makeup look for a special Valentines Day date. Feel the love with February’s Sweet Date box!“
Glam Gift
“Glam Gift“ is the brand new feature in NMNL, where one subscriber is chosen to win a handful of products. This months includes several cute and sweet items; like the Silk Scarf hair mask, Pino lip cream, and a couple Pokemon items, among others.
Meanwhile, the contest prizes are based on My Melody:
Aren’t they just adorable~?
This months booklet also includes a page on Sichenmakeupholic and includes a tutorial for one of the items we got, and a few youtubers who created dreamy Valentines Day looks, and for February’s horoscope everyone was given a fashion item and lucky color. For example, mine (Libra) suggested a cute mini backpack, and my lucky color was hot pink. My friend’s (Gemini) item is a pair of jeans, and her color is navy.
Okay! So let’s get started with the review!
Eyebrow Pencil & Crayon Touch-me Lipgloss
First up we have two makeup items. This eyebrow pencil was available in 2 variations, either the one I got by Etude House, or one by Tony Moly. Besides the label design being different, I’m not sure if there was a difference.
This pencil is double-sided, one with a spoolie for straightening the bangs, while the other is the “pencil“. The color is a natural brown.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I’m not someone who uses eyebrow makeup, at best I’ll just keep them trim and use a spoolie through them. But I tried this out and I actually kind of like it. It easily glides onto the skin and looks pretty natural looking at it. It wasn’t hard to put on, nor did it hurt, and there was no mess or product fall out or anything.
My mom also really likes it because it creates the illusion that she has more of an eyebrow than she does. They have severely thinned out and she’s kind of embarrassed about it, so she likes products like this.
Our next item is this really pretty orange-colored lipgloss. It can be worn on its own or over another product, and it has a very very faint color. It also smells delicious, like tangerine.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The brush feels ultra-soft on the lips, and the product has a good taste (for anyone curious that is). It’s extremely shimmery and makes the lips very soft. I had already been wearing lip balm and I put some of this over it on half of my lips and noticed a huge difference! 10 out of 10, recommend!
Sparkling Eye Gloss
Available in honey gold or ash grey, this product is an eye gloss, or basically a liquid eye shadow by Sweets-Sweets. It comes in a fancy-looking tube and has a softened spongy brush, usable for both eyeliner and eye shadow.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
First let me start by saying it is chilly to put on- but it feels kind of nice. It didn’t feel heavy on my lids -which I find to be a problem with some liquid eye shadows- and to my surprise, it actually didn’t look half bad as an eyeliner!
If you’re a new reader of this blog I’ll take a moment to explain that I can’t do eyeliner at all. As such, anything that can help or provide an alternative, I like trying it out. So I was pretty happy by the discovery... up until I gave myself a second wing. But it still didn’t look that bad...
The other thing is, it’s a little messy to clean up. It wasn’t hard to remove, but now the upper-half of my face is super sparky. I love glitter though, so it’s not terrible, and I’m sure with hot water or facial wipes it’d be a lot easier to get off.
Cotton Pads
And now for a super simple, but very necessary item :3 Cotton Pads are useful in application and removal of makeup and skin care products- it’s one of the “essentials“ for those of us who use makeup. At least I always thought so.
What’s fun about these cotton pads is that besides getting so many, they also come in a cute little carrying pouch for easier transport.
Um... because of how simple these are I’m not planning on reviewing them. There’s nothing really different between cotton pads as far as I ever noticed. I did notice that these are layered though, so I assume that means they will hold more?
Milk Bomb Mask
Our next item is this Milk Bomb Mask, which was available in Strawberry and chocolate. I really wish I got strawberry, but this smells so yummy I don’t even care~
This face product uses milk protein extra and cocoa extract to tidy up rough, dead skin cells and contract skin pores to make it smooth. It also includes a huge list of other ingredients and is to be worn 15-20 minutes for full effect. The mask is also really smooth and didn’t seem papery like other masks.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
It smells delicious, I really liked it. It also felt really nice on my face, wasn’t sticky or sloppy or anything. But I noticed that it didn’t want to stay on my face the entire time I used it and I had to keep smoothing it out, and it dried in very quickly. So after a few minutes my face felt no different, but to be fair I’m not really sure if you would feel something different from this effect.
Flower Puff
Our next item is this pretty makeup puff, available in either pink or white. It’s use is for powdered makeup, like blush or certain foundations.
None of which I actually have, other than a really small blusher compact. I think this is really pretty though and honestly I’d rather use it as a cute decoration.
Fascy Moisture Bomb Hand Cream
Our next item is this cute hand cream that promises to moisturize the hands very deeply with ingredients like shea butter, macadamia nut oil, and aloe vera. It’s light weight and soaks into the skin quickly, and is available in 4 different scents: Grapefruit, Strawberry, Violet, and Peach.
I would have been happy with any of those :3 and as you can see, it has color. It’s pretty faint but it’s a really pretty baby pink.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I love how it smells, it’s grapefruit for sure- but it’s a bit different. Like there is a hint of something else in it, but I can’t place my finger on what it is yet. It definitely does what it says it will and makes the skin soft; if only it worked on my dry patches on my face >3< I’ve tried hand creams because of how good they work but they fail to help it... unless I’m not using enough...
Not only is it really nice on the hands, but I noticed the bottle is completely full, in comparison to some creams I’ve got that leave a segment of the tube empty for some reason.
Savon de Chocolate Soap
Our final item will be this delicious looking soap! A moisturizing, creamy soap that uses cocoa butter and charcoal to cleanse the skin. It smells like chocolate (and maybe a tiny bit like honey?).
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
It’s deliciously scented and very smooth to use. It foams up quickly and is pleasant, I didn’t notice any sort of problems using it, like there wasn’t residue problems.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - 5 out of 5. Everything was really nice and I liked the items greatly. I mean I admit cotton pads aren’t that amazing, but they are really practical.
Theme: 5 out of 5. I definitely get a romantic, but cutesy and playful preparing for a date vibe, and there’s items that just give it a Valentines Day feel.
Total Rank: 10 out of 10. Now, I’m not sure this was the perfect box, but I would definitely recommend it. It was lovely and a lot of fun, and I really like and have been using all of the items; minus the flower puff.
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
1. Lipgloss - I can’t say orange is my favorite color (not that I hate it tho), but I LOVE to look at how pretty and glittery it is~ It smells really good too, and it makes my lips feels nice.
2. Hand Cream - I’m not a huge fan of the art style, but I like it’s bold colors and fun appeal. I also love the hand cream and the fact it’s colored :D it smells so good~
3. Milk Face Mask - We’ve been over this before, I’m a foodie who loves things that look like food; so I really like the design. The scent was really good too.
4.Chocolate Soap - the package looks so delicious, and the soap was really nice. I can’t wait to use it during my next bath.
5. Flower Puff - it’s so pretty, I even like the floral designs on the box it came in. I really want to use it, but I won’t be too upset if I don’t simply because I think it looks cuter as decor.
6. Eyegloss - I like it’s unique square shape :D it’s also a lot prettier than I thought it would be. Initially I didn’t think it’d be something I would use.
7. Cotton Pads - I see myself using them more often than the eyebrow pencil, and they come in a draw-string bag, which is pretty unusual. I’ve never seen that before.
8. Eyebrow pencil - I really like to use it, but it doesn’t have any cuteness factor.

Unfiltered Mass Effect: Andromeda Trial Reactions
Okay so I hit the gate on the main story in the Mass Effect: Andromeda trial already (just under 3 hours in... was hoping I could play a bit further before they cut me off), so I felt now would be a decent time to summarize my thoughts from my trial experience. As a disclaimer, these are my honest-to-god truthful reactions to the game so far; I am not going out of my way to be mean or snippy or whatever, but I want to be honest. I know that for some reason some fans take it incredibly personally when someone criticizes this game, but realize that there are actual issues I had with the game, as well as some good things.
I haven't tried multiplayer yet, so all of this is purely based off of Story experience, but let's start with positive things first and then work downwards...
The Good-
- Vetra is great. First impression of her is very positive, and I know she'd be one of my main squadmates.
- Drack is also great, from what little I saw. Great intro. I already like his sass.
- Liam's a cool guy. He unfortunately reminds me a bit of my brother and thus I'd be too weirded-out by that to try and romance him, but he'd be a cool pal.
- Combat feels fun so far. I like the addition of the jump jets, and being able to use them so quickly helps movement feel more dynamic than past games. I like being able to zip around and quickly reposition myself. I also like being able to freely outfit myself with a whole bunch of different biotic and tech abilities off the bat, rather than specific ones being limited to certain character types.
The Bad-
- Someone seriously needs to re-evaluate what keys they use in the customization screens... at one point there was “Esc to Confirm” ... who the fuck uses the Escape key to confirm something?? So many times in the character or outfit customizing screens where I thought I was confirming my choices and it reset all my shit back to default. There’s a ton of confusing counter-intuitive design choices in there.
- The Character Creator... I knew it was going to be limited, but I actually got mad at how limited it ended up being. The problem is this game is following Inquisition in terms of Bioware games I've played, and to go from that level of customization to this is.... well, it just really sucks. Eyes and noses are tied to the preset faces. There's no way to select a different set of eyes or nose for the base face you choose, and that’s so depressingly restrictive. Not to mention you can't rotate the eyes / noses, so I couldn't give my character a convex nose, and I couldn't rotate the eye corners to get at least some kind of variation on the eyes. The sliders they do give you are too minimal to have any real impact, aside from giving your character a giant nose or one too high up / low on the face. Every preset face had at least one facial element I disliked. Now this is more of a personal preference for me, but it basically made me hate every preset face in some way. And instead of more customization options for facial features, they gave us too many options for ugly face paint. I don't need 10 kinds of unappealing eyeliner... I’d rather have 10 kinds of eyes. I'm sure there are a lot of people complaining about the character creator, so if Bioware patches in some fixes or more options, then I'd be willing to revisit this, but as of launch, it's severely lacking and very disappointing.
- Now that I'm playing it myself, the crazy-eye thing is still distracting. I can kind of tune it out a bit for other characters, but my Ryder is still 90% wide-eyed at any given moment. I read a post on here that the sclera being so bright white and not having enough shading could be a big contributor to that, and I think that if they patched in a fix to that it would help immensely. But as of right now, the startled eyes and lack of expression make it very hard for me to connect with my character.
- Animation is still bad... and when I'm talking animation I'm referring to the cinematic animations. Creature/animal AI animations and a lot of the combat stuff looks fine and passable, they aren't the problem. It's the cutscene stuff that is frankly embarrassing. Obviously Bioware has a history of not having the most amazing animation in general, and I acknowledge that... but this game is actually looking a bit worse than ME3 and DAI in terms of expressions, automated phonemes, and general body animation. Before someone starts bitching at me, I am a cinematic animator in videogames, I know a lot of the pipelines and procedures for this stuff, so I can see where they've cut corners or just outright decided this wasn't a priority for them. And yes, I know there's a high volume of animations needed for a game like this, and it’s a big workload... but keep in mind there are still main-story cutscenes that will always be visible regardless of player choices that should've gotten at least a layer or two of polish. A lot of body animation in the cinematics look like they barely got a first pass of polish; hands are posed poorly, there are pops in some transitions, and body posture is poor in some locomotion anims. Look whenever an alien walks on a ramp in a cutscene; their feet are often smashed. Facial animations are the most noticeable and suffer the worst of the bunch, eyes often track weirdly and unnaturally, and the phoneme shapes look like they need another go-around to make them more accurate. For as cartoony/stylized as it looked, I still think DA2 was the high-water mark for me in terms of effective phonemes and expressions in a Bioware game. People looked appropriately happy/sad/pissed, and the mouth shapes were more accurate than some other Bioware titles. Basically, what I'm trying to say in all this is if you were a self-respecting cinematic animator in this game, you wouldn't use anything from this game (at least everything I've seen in the Trial) in your demo reel. If you submitted this to a AAA company to get a job, they would laugh at your reel behind closed doors. I'm not joking. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in for a rude awakening in this industry (unless they're applying at Bioware apparently, lol)
- I'm not sure how I feel about the absence of Paragon/Renegade and more polarizing conversation choices. From what I've seen so far, a lot of choices can feel rather samey or have similar results, and even with the new categories it was easy to accidentally select a dialogue choice that was different that what I intended to say. It's like they want the personality thing from DA2 but it doesn't look like it's working as well as it did in that game. ... But yeah there's a couple points in the Trial where I REALLY missed Renegade. You'll probably know which ones I mean, lol.
So.... yeah. I’m still in this weird grey area where I honestly don’t know if I’m getting the full copy or not. My first impressions of this game were of the low lukewarm variety. Like, I know I could play it and pass time, but it’s not feeling like a must-play game to me just yet. Perhaps that will change? Time will tell.

Hey, can I request RFA+V+Saeran reacting to a SuicideGirl!MC? The idea just pop up in my head lolol. I loooooove your blog hehe stay awesome
RFA+V+Saeran react to SuicideGirl!MC
Some NSFW
Ok so I had to look up what ‘Suicide Girl’ meant and what Urban Dictionary told me is that it’s an alternative style that’s somewhere between emo/goth and pin up. My type of girl and it was also noted that they’re pretty sexual and kind of known for their style of erotic pics and sometimes porn.
If this isn’t what you meant and you actually meant then let me know but I think I got this one
So let’s go!
Yoosung
He’s a stuttering mess
He never knew he was into this style until he met you
He didn’t know what a Suicide Girl was but you explained it to him and he constantly blushes “Wait so…so you’re a p-porn star??”
You blush a little “Well I wouldn’t say star…”
He has a fucking nosebleed. He has nosebleeds everyday when you’re trying on new outfits because you change right in front of him and oh mah gawwww
Your tattoos. Your piercings. The way you move. Everything. And you always send him coy little glances knowing damn well you’re giving this boy the most raging boners.
Sometimes you ask him if he can help you take pictures ;*
Sometimes you send him pictures. Your photo shoots are anywhere between PG and Rated R for Rad as Fuck or Raging Boner. Whatever.
He always tries to make sure he’s not near anyone when he opens them, but one time he accidentally opened one of your pics up when he’s with his friends
It was Rated R
On the fluffier side of things
You guys dye each others hair and exchange hair clips
You constantly rave about how much you love his eyes and it makes him blush. Sometimes you wear purple contacts and the two of you take a fuck ton of selfies.
Speaking of the selfies
They’re always so cute
You look so fierce and poised and Yoosung usually has a shocked look on his face cause “MC, you’re a model I look like-”
“You look cute Yoosung now come on”
And you start snapping away. About 20 selfies in he gets a little more confident, so he starts getting a big dopey grin on his face
It’s so cute. You look like Edgelord McGee and he’s just this little Vanilla Cone with a swirl of Awkward
10/10 for opposites attract
Jaehee
At first it was a total ‘Whoa what’ moment, but she loves and accepts you as her girlbestfriend :)
:))))))))))))))
She loves how confident you seem in all your pictures. It’s clear you’re doing something that makes you happy and that makes her happy.
The tongue piercing also makes her happy
She has seen all your photo shoots, she even has some physical copies of her favorite shots
The kicker is she doesn’t have them just because they’re hot
She genuinely enjoys some of your photo shoots, talking about how they’re very tasteful statement pieces
She flatters you constantly without meaning to just by going on about how good you are with keeping your style consistent but making variations to fit the social setting
You think she’s talking about how even at RFA parties you’re elegant, but your dark pinup taste is evident with your V cut black dress with the leg slit accompanied by the stilettos and choker.
But who really knows.
You’ve totally tried dressing her up before
Remember in her route how she asked about dark lipstick?
It works for her.
Works reaallllllly well.
But she’s pretty awkward about it all
“I don’t know, MC, I don’t think I’m bold enough for this style”
You give a small pout as you undress her, but that frown is quickly turned upside down because
Hey you’re undressing Baehee B)
Zen
He’s so down
You were worried because he always talks about you being his ‘Princess’ and being a Suicide Girl wasn’t very…. ‘Princessy’
He agrees. It isn’t.
It’s very…. ‘Queeny’
It totally reminds him of his motorcycle gang days
When you two go out he loves to wear his leather jackets and dark sunglasses, but his favorite accessory is his hand wrapped around your waist.
You two are constantly serving L o o k s
Some of his fans rag on you for your promiscuous activities, but Zen shuts that shit down real quick.
Some really skeevy Paparazzos will try getting a rise out of him
“Hey Zen, how do you feel about anyone and everyone seeing your girlfriend naked?”
Zen whips around, staring daggers into this man, half of him fighting the urge to FUCKIN BRAWL
You tighten your grip on his arm and whisper in his ear “They can see me, but you’re the only one who gets to touch baby”
His scowl quickly turns into a grin as he looks at you.
T H E B E A S T H A S A W O K E N
He ignores the paparazzi and rushes you to the car so you two can rush the fuck home and get
Nasty.
That’s the way to describe the sex between you two because he can’t control himself whatsoever when you’ve got those tattoos, those piercings, that hair. The attitude.
And fuck, half the comments on your photos are just guys telling you what the want to do with you in a bedroom so you know how to please Zen.
Sometimes he gets jealous and a little pissy about all the people commenting on your videos and photos
But he remembers you’re just in the performance game, same as him.
And when you promise that you’re all his
Well
huehuehue
Jumin
He’s so conflicted
This is not an image he can be associated with, not as the future CEO of C&R. And his father is quick to remind him of that, constantly breathing down Jumin’s neck about how he can’t be seen with you.
But Jumin loves you…and honestly the style is a bit of a guilty pleasure
He likes the leather, the chains, the tattoos and piercings.
They were things he never saw women wearing when he grew up
It made it very easy for his subconscious to latch onto you because you were nothing like any woman his father ever brought home. You were nothing like the women who had tried using Jumin for his money
You were something new and he liked it. A lot.
So even he was a little heartbroken to hear you say you’d change your style so you two could be seen in public together. You’d quit your job. You’d be whatever he needed because you loved him and didn’t want to hinder his life. He came home one day to find you dressed head to toe in casual clothes, your piercings taken out, your hair dyed all black instead of the plethora of colors it had been before.
Fuck that
He picked up his phone and started making a series of calls. First to the hair dresser, then to a stylist, then to 707.
“Jumin what are you doing??” You asked, confused as to why he wasn’t happy with your new appearance.
“You’re not changing for me.” He grunted in between calls. “I want you to be happy when you’re with me, not playing dress up and acting like something you’re not.”
You guys reached an agreement
707 would wipe any traceable history of your videos and more racy pictures so no one could connect you to the more sexual part of your career. You’d get your hair done however you wanted, and you chose to get it done a nice, dark navy color, something still fun but a little more subdued. You put most of your piercings back in, leaving a few out, and a stylist would pick out nothing but the best clothes that matched your style while maintaining a very elegant look.
One day Jumin tells you to turn on a TV to a local fashion network
You do and suddenly you see a stream of pictures pouring across the screen featuring key points of SuicideGirl style and the host going ‘Is the American ‘SuicideGirl’ style coming to Korea? While previously receiving a lot of scrutiny, we’re seeing a new shift in this trend that makes it look very … classy. Especially if you look at M.C., girlfriend of C&Rs very own Jumin Han’
A picture of you and Jumin walking down the street together is shown, both of you freshly dressed to death looking good as hell. Jumin is looking right at the paparazzi’s camera…like he knew it was there
“Jumin…did you convince a fashion network that I’m a classy alternative fashion icon?”
“It’s amazing what money can do. Now…I can enjoy you for you” He purred the last part as he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a kiss
707
He loves it.
You’re the perfect mix of pinup and alternative. The red lipstick and tattoos combo really turns him on.
He took your professional photos and made them his background on everything
His 7 computes
His tablet
His ipod
He hacked all his gaming systems so you’re the background/opening screen
The only place he doesn’t have one of your pro pics is his phone
That’s reserved for silly pictures of you two
He loves just tracing your tattoos with his fingers, talking about them, planning your next ones with you
Planning out all your outfits with you
He tries helping you dye your hair but that never works well for anyone.
He kisses every single one of your facial piercings all the time and the other ones
He occasionally buys fake tattoo sleeves and magnet piercings and dresses up like you
He uploads his photos to the same sites you’re on and sometimes this motherfucker gets more views
He always reads through the comments left on your videos and photos. If someones messing with you or get a little too raunchy, bet your ass their computer is fucked.
“Seven people are complaining their computers crash when they comment on my stuff”
“Huh, weird”
V
He’s a little uncomfortable with the video career. Just because he knows there are so many people being so…crude towards you because of it. You assure him it’s nothing, but he just hates the idea of anyone saying anything sexual or rude to you
He makes a proposal: You model for him instead. Photos of you to be put in galleries instead of online posts for sexual deviants to get their kicks off of
And you two can record your own private videos
I’ll let you decide if you take him up on it or not
Anyways
You probably saw this one coming but
So. Many. Photos.
He’s never had a subject like you and he’s eating it up
His photos always had a calm, peaceful, serene tone to them
The photos he takes of you? Passionate, daring, sexual.
You pose for days and you two could go for hours.
He’s never been bothered by nude models, but when you start stripping your clothes he gets a little flustered
“MC, we don’t have to do nude if you’d rather not. I know we have a relationship so if you’d rather save yourself…”
You grin at him, unclip your bra, and drop it all while maintaining eye contact
His eyes widen, his mouth drops, and his camera flash goes off.
Even if he gets his eyes fixed, his time being blind made him reliant on his other senses, especially touch.
Sometimes when you two are spooning, you take his hand and have him trace all your tattoos. Every time you hit a piercing he gently circles it with his index finger, and traces the shapes of the ones you have that aren’t typical rounds.
Everyone admits they never imagined you two getting together, but you foil each other nicely.
Sometimes you slip edgier pieces into his wardrobe
“MC, I don’t remember having black pants that were this…tight”
“Try them on. Trust me.” You grin when he can’t deny you the satisfaction of trying them on.
Saeran
Need I say it?
You two are the Edgelords of the century
You take pictures with him all the time and post him, constantly sending your followers into fits over the fact you guys are ‘#Goals’ or how ‘Oh my god they’re both so hot’
You get a few comments that are “Do a video together!”
Saeran doesn’t get it. What do they mean about a video together.
When he finds out
Ho
Hohohohoho
He gets so flustered and uppity. He’s pissed at your followers. “Tell them to fuck off”
But he never says he opposed to doing a video just for the two of you
Anyways
You guys take each other’s shit constantly. You’re constantly wrapped up in his hoodies, he’s always swiping your hats and belts.
Dye each other’s hair of course
Tattoo dates. Matching ones? Sure. But even when it’s just one of you getting one the other comes along and they make a day out of it
He follows you to work all the time
Someones taking racy pictures of you? If they’re a dirtbag about it I’m breaking their jaw.
You and some of your Suicide Girl friends are going out in public together? Saeran follows, never far behind.
Any douchebags on the street give you problems? He breaks their jaw.
He goes through the comments on your videos
And they piss him off so much, but then you remind him that you’re all his
Alllll hisss

“Looking at anime eyes” sounds kind of creepy. As if I’m sitting in a café somewhere, wearing a nondescript raincoat and looking over the edge of a newspaper to catch a glimpse of an anime character’s eyes… The nerdiest peeping tom, Yup that’s me…
I won’t blame any of you for not knowing that I’m actually referring to one of my Pinetrest boards called anime eyes. I mentioned it months ago in my Pinterest journey posts and promised that I would eventually try to figure out some patterns in there.
It’s a bit hard to really do that though. Anime characters’ eyes are in fact as different as real people eyes varying a lot in shape and colour and when you look at them out of context like that, it just becomes a jumble of irises and lashes. Ok that sounds creepy again. It’s almost like writing a post focusing of disembodied eyeballs has something inherently creepy about it. How odd.
Because I give too much importance to colours, the first thing I did was to divide the eye caps I got by colour. I should mention, except for a few fan art exceptions, the 850 or so pins I have in there are all screencaps I’ve taken while watching shows. As such, there is an issue of biased sample here. Namely, I’m going by the eyeballs of anime characters in shows that interested me enough to watch. I have a pretty varied taste mind you but it’s still not a completely neutral representation.
Colour wise I have noticed that more recent shows do tend to feature yellow/amber/golden eyes a lot more than older series I have been watching. This may be a new trend to look out for. It’s still pretty unusual for now though. What was surprisingly common is red or pink eyes, and mostly red. Not just for evil or possessed characters either. Red as a “normal” eye colour. I think it may in fact be meant as an extreme variation of brown and it can in fact look rather mundane which is impressive. There are some very interesting looking red costume contact lenses but I’ve never tried them out.
However, the number one most common eye colour in anime (that I have watched…) is…. drum roll please…. cast your votes… blue. Yep, just blue. And if you were to throw purple in there then it would just overwhelm any other colour. That’s how frequent it is. Now blue is in fact the second most common eye colour in real life. Heck it’s my eye colour. We can simply assume that a super common eye colour is simply translating into a super common eye colour in art but I don’t think we can completely disregard geography here.
I’m not sure if it’s because blue eyed folks aren’t that interesting, but there really aren’t that many tropes associated with the trait. The most promising lead I have is the “evil or occult eye”. As in the talismans or amulets. You know those blue eye thingies.. wait let me just find one. This:
Evil eyes are part of very old and very widespread mysticism, and they are always blue.
Since the evil eye was mostly prominent in the Mediterranean and West Asian cultures, it’s been long believed that xenophobia had a role to play in the choice of colour. Most people from those cultures do not have blue eyes however the colour is conventional enough that you can easily imagine most people would have seen someone with blue eyes. A completely unnatural colour would have been more unnerving and striking but the choice of a possible eye colour changes things up a little. And there have been historical cases of bullying or shumming people in certain parts of the world because the had blue eyes and were therefore “cursed.
There is also long held connections between the colour blue as well as blue gems like lapis lazuli, and magic. So that might have played into it but evil eye talismans are often colours glass.
I should warn you, you are about to be completely dazzled by my anime knowledge! Whoa!!! So a lot of anime is created in Asia! I know you might need a second to digest l this new information. Specifically in Japan although we are seeing productions get outsourced to Korea and China more often. And traditionally, that’s a culture with fairly low blue eyed population. I should mention that although blue is the second most common eye colour, brown eyes do make up about 79% of the world’s population. So that number 2 spot is in fact less than 10%. In all likelihood, an average japanese high school wouldn’t have more blue eyed students. Or any high school for that matter. So in relation to real life or common demographic experience, those blue eyes are out of the ordinary in anime.
I don’t think that the blue eyes in anime are a form of xenophobia. If anything it might be the opposite. But I d think they are a way to distinguish a character as “special” or “different” without making them “alien”. Those blue eyes stand out and set them aside from the crowd but not completely beyond the realm of the relatable. It’s normal enough that you won’t necessarily even notice it but if you do, you now that one character is different than the others.
Since characters that get their very own spaghetti western style eye close ups are pretty much always part of the main cast (or at east leading antagonists), it stands to reason that those would be the characters marked as special by their design. Tis said, I’m only looking through my board here, I should try to pay closer attention to the eye colours of mob characters. Do they even have eye colours or are their eyes just black?
By the way, in my opinion, when isolated from the other features, pink eyes are the creepiest. I know they often go with adorable girls and when you see the entire character it’s really quite cute. By itself though, for some reason, pink eyes freak me out. A lot more than red ones. Maybe that’s just a me thing.
I also want to throw little random observation here. I wanted to discuss eye shapes at well but those are extremely varied. The one thing that did strike me is that when the image is focused entirely on the eye, I can’t tell the bad guys from the heroes. I thought for sure the shape would be a giveaway but it seems that it has more to do with facial proportions, placement and eyebrows than I thought. In fact even gender can get a little tricky to guess.
Do you have a fascination with anime eyes like me? Please say yes, I don’t want to be the only weirdo!
A Few Things I’ve Noticed Looking At Anime Eyes "Looking at anime eyes" sounds kind of creepy. As if I'm sitting in a café somewhere, wearing a nondescript raincoat and looking over the edge of a newspaper to catch a glimpse of an anime character's eyes...

Editing Indian Soup
The first assembly of Indian Soup was more or less straight forward, there were a few difficulties in the middle of the scene, after they switched marks, as they were no longer framed very well and I became more limited to the few shots which were framed slightly better. Also certain portions of the action proved difficult to give flow, such as when Faith takes the baby or when she comes through the curtains. But I got the first assembly done roughly in a day and managed to begin the process of building humour into the edit even then, and building humour into the edit was my main aim, as we were attempting to emulate a very trashy form of filmmaking I felt that my aim was to give the edit flow first of all, then pick out all the acting which could build the sense of the ridiculous, and the actors were very good, then create visual effects based on the references Andy sent me. For example in the first assembly I did the sequence of the hand grab pretty close to the final film, with the incredibly fast cuts of the look around and the hand grab, finishing on the close up of Faith’s face very close to the camera. There was fortunately a lot of creative coverage of this sequence for me to work with. Andy gave me one note on the sequence about a week later, to add both halves of the pan from them to the baby and back, rather than just one half, which I feel really rounded off the sequence. On top of that I did the repeating action of the slaps. They seemed to me like two key points in the film, climactic points, and to build the emphasis into the actual cutting rather than visual effect would highlight them as climactic points. I then spent another couple of days refining the cut and did a colour grade, which was an easy job as we had the lights more or less the same for the whole shoot, going for a studio aesthetic, so there was very little variation in the lighting between shot to shot. Unfortunately very close to the end of the edit I pushed the brightness and saturation of the colouring farther on a few people’s advice, which I feel was good advice. It was unfortunate because some of the shots became too bright looking, which I didn’t really click onto until the crit, though nothing was said about it so perhaps I see it as worse than it is.
The process of going through the cut in search of lost acting once some flow had been established was done on Catriona’s suggestion as she felt some of the cuts seemed slightly arbitrary and I must say it was good advice. I didn’t make a huge amount of changes but the ones I did make heavily improved the film. The key example that comes to mind is the sequence were Faith is on the ground, pleading with Hope to leave the baby. The sequence is successful because it paints a range of emotions, Faith is first desperate, Hope is touched, Faith is lovingly staring up at her sister, and Faith remembers her anger and slaps Hope to the ground. My original cut had lost some of the silent expressions which built up this communication which were vital to characterisation.
The final portion of the editing process was the visual effects. The first effect I thought to do was the flash back, as it is the most integral to the film. This proved difficult, I spent hours searching for the effect both on avid and online, but eventually it seemed that the proper bars of waves was not on avid, one forum I read claimed it had been removed a few years ago which seems to be true. So the rippling water seemed like the next best choice. Even after choosing this effect it took time to get it working, as when I first put it on the effect just sat still over the image, which is of little use. After some time I realised I had to use key frames which on reflection was actually better, giving me more control over the effect. Learning to work this effect prepared me well for the other effects as the basics were the same throughout. There were three main methods I used: the built in effects like Flip/Flop/FlipFlop; using key frames on the colour correction; and key frames on the image resize to create zooms and crops. I will talk about a few of the effects as examples. A key one to understanding my process was the effects over Hope’s monologue as she watches the unsuspecting Faith, in which the frame swipes from side to side while the colours change and the shot zooms in and out. To begin with I cut the shot in half and put a swipe transition over the cut. Then using key frames I had the swipe move back and forth in the frame several times within the transition. I then used key frames in the colour correction to have each side of the frame flash into different colours, aiming for garish and over the top colours. In the crit Zoe asked if I had thought of the colour pallet at all while doing effects like this and I hadn’t, which now seems an awful over sight. After the crit I changed the colours to fit a pallet and they work better. I then zoomed into key facial features of the actress such as her eyes using the re-size effect with key frames, again these were within the swipe back and forth of the transition. Another example was the use of Flip and Flop effect, where the frame flips backwards. I used the effect twice and each time I tried to create a sense of rhythm, as in every effect. For example the first time I used it I flipped the image with each word of dialogue, using the integral rhythm of the speech. I also used the image resize, as already mentioned, a large amount. I used it within other effects to give them extra impact, along with zooms so the image could bounce farther in and back out again and between cuts, such as the first cut from Faith to hope, so it almost looked like an impossible zoom into Hope’s face rather than a cut.
The one other thing within the film I felt I had to change after the crit was the shot in the flash back. I had used a different shot from the one within the film, which on reflection is clearly less effective. All in all I am happy with the final product, there is of course room for improvement, but people laughed, which was the aim, I felt the cut flowed well and the effects worked. Catriona said that there were too many effects and Zoe thought there weren’t enough. I’m partially inclined to agree with both. When editing I wanted to add more effects but I felt there was nowhere else within the film that naturally wanted an effect over it. But on watching it with the class I questioned myself on whether it was too much, so I agree that it is in the middle ground, either more or less is needed. I feel if I had had more creativity and thought of other fresh effects to use than the ones I have discussed I would have felt more comfortable putting more in, but I was wary of repeating things too much. I also feel that had the levels of the music and sound effects been higher, as Andy had intended, there would have been less of an issue. But as I said, I am happy with the final outcome.

Alyona Nickelsen's Colored Pencil Painting Portraits Book Review
Alyona Nickelsen's "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits" Book Review
I would just like to start this review by thanking Alyona for asking me to write a review on her new up coming book, "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits". The book is not yet released and so I was incredibly fortunate and excited to get a copy months before the publication date in which to review. According to Amazon, the digital version of the book will be released on the 20th of June 2017 and the print publication is available now for pre-order but release on the 7th of July 2017. I would advise pre-ordering this book as soon as you can, as I have a feeling stock will move very fast once released.

I actually feel a tad embarrassed about writing this next section, an introduction as to who Alyona Nickelsen is and her previous accomplishments in the world of colored pencil art. I personally feel this lady really needs no introduction at all. Alyona's name and reputation is exemplary throughout the colored pencil community and indeed the art community in general. Not just for her vast wealth of information but her incredibly kind and generous nature makes people automatically gravitate to her. Good natured souls such as Alyona are in short supply and so when discovered are not only refreshing but comforting.
Alyona Nickelsen
Alyona is originally from the Ukraine but now currently lives in the U.S. As a young child Alyona was always fascinated with art and it was when she moved to the U.S in 1999 that her passion grew, helped by the vast array of opportunities available to young artists in the States. Alyona has since won many awards and show cased her art at many prestigious events throughout her illustrious career.
Alyona has already published an outstanding book for colored pencil artists called "Colored Pencil Painting Bible" a book I personally purchased long before I knew Alyona and found it to be of enormous value in teaching me the correct methods and techniques for using colored pencils.
However, Alyona's most notable success to date has been the "Brush and Pencil" kit that has become the must have tool for all colored pencil artists and enthusiasts. The kit comprises of 9 oz spray can of Advanced Colored Pencil Texture Fixative, another 9oz spray can of Advanced Colored Pencil Final Fixative, a 10ml bottle of Colored Pencil Touch Up Texture, a 14 gram jar of Colored Pencil Powder Blender and finally a 14 gram jar of Colored Pencil Titanium White. Unfortunately I have not used this revolutionary new kit myself, so I am unable to expand further on this, except for the fact that every single colored pencil artist who has used it, absolutely swears by it and can simply not do without, once tried.
"Colored Pencil Painting Portraits"
Perhaps the most noticeable feature of "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits" is the absolutely stunning visual feast laid out for the readers. Before jumping right into the book and learning the absolute wealth of knowledge Alyona has to offer, when you flick through the pages you will instantly be transformed to a visual paradise of remarkable and outstanding beautiful images from Alyona's own colored pencil art. Perhaps the first notion that will enter your train of thought will be along the lines of "are they really colored pencil paintings" on account of their beauty, realism and incredibly detail; but of course they are.
It is always difficult writing reviews on books, you don't want to reveal too much information, making people feel they don't need to purchase the book, however, on the other hand, publish just enough information to tantalise interest in the book. I do think that with Alyona's up coming book "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits" the book really speaks for itself given how fabulous Alyona's work is and the fact that almost all colored pencil artists have struggled at one time or another on portraiture.
Inside
"Colored Pencil Painting Portraits" is divided into seven chapters, not including the Forward, Appendix and Introduction. As previously mentioned, throughout the book you are treated to an absolute visual paradise for the eyes, full size pages displaying Alyona's own outstanding colored pencil portraits, many would pay handsomely for a book of just such wonderful art or to view such art hung in a gallery, however, "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits" is 182 pages of outstanding literature delight, detailing colored pencil methods. I almost wrote, tips and techniques, but this is simply not an adequate description of the concise and inspirational words delicately placed within these pages.
Chapter 1 is Colored Pencil Revolution
Chapter One, goes through all the various stages of colored pencil art work, the pencils used, type of pencils, the various blending tools and the reasons you use blending techniques, the Brush and Pencil kit and a brief introduction to all aspects of the kit. Chapter one gently eases you into colored pencil art and the tools used by Alyona, the rest of the chapters start to get mind blowing after this.
Chapter 2 is Rules of the Game
Some of you may think that Chapter Two is not relevant to you and skip it, which is of course your right, however, I would highly recommend reading it. I think, personally speaking, in order to become a good artist, at least a knowledgable artist, it is important to understand the great artists we all learnt about in school and the techniques they used. Chapter two also covers topics like color variation, color layers, color underpainting, all the important foundations of colored pencil art.
Chapter 3 is Working The Medium
Chapter 3 goes into amazing detail regarding application of colored pencil, the various blending methods in much more detail, showing you exactly the type of results you can expect from using solvents after applying too much pressure of the pencil as opposed to an even application of light pressure. Alyona goes through dry blending and the purpose of layering with ACP textured fixative and the reasons why you might use this particular method.
Chapter 4 is Controlling Colour
Chapter 4 really digs deep into the obstacles colored pencil artists face with regards to applying color, especially highlights etc. This isn't paint we are dealing with, were mixing color is relatively painless if you know your color theory, colored pencil art is a very different beast and Alyona explains this in perfect detail. Covering subjects such as color mixing, the light and shadows of color, the illusive subject of white pencils and black pencils and how they display various levels of opacity or opaqueness and utilising these abilities of colored pencil.
Chapter 5 is Portrait Facts and Fiction
Chapter 5 is starting to get into the real detail of portraiture, covering everything from how to take amazing photographs of people for your subject piece, the lighting required, the correct posing positions, your camera settings giving you the best possible outcomes, aperture settings, ISO settings and shutter speeds. Alyona also takes a look at well know portraits, briefly explaining them and of course your right to adding some artistic licensing.
Chapter 6 is Practicing The Essentials
Chapter 6 also takes a look at some of the more well known portraits such as Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and others. Alyona also covers the subject of facial planes, the importance of backgrounds for your portrait, an area I personally struggle with, the actual skin tones and color combinations used for lighter skin tones, medium skin tones and dark skin tones. Chapter 6 also covers hair and all the complexities surrounding this subject, the various types of hair your are likely to encounter from old hair to baby hair.
Eyes are also covered, but not just a generalisation on eyes, eyes from different cultures are covered, lips, ears, hands, feet and of course noses are also detailed. These complex and sometimes frustrating facial details are explained in detail like no other portraiture book I have read.
Chapter 7 is How To Keep Freidns And Make Clients Happy
Chapter 7 is like no other chapter you are likely to read in a colored pencil art book, however the importance of this chapter is so clear. Alyona talks about some of her own personal experiences which lead nicely into this delicate subject. How to deal with clients when they ask you to paint a portrait of a loved one and the importance of not just the reference image but also getting to know the individual you are painting, whether they are deceased or still with us, and their characteristics. All subjects that must be approached with compassion and delicately chosen words.
Alyona takes you through step by step stages of her own work in this area, clearly showing the reader the process from start to finish.
Appendix
It may seem odd to be writing about an appendix of a book, however, this section in "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits", Alyona has included incredibly valuable tables of information. Each table has information relating to a wide range of artist quality colored pencils from Caran D'Ache Pablo, Luminance, Derwent Artist, Coloursoft, Lyra, Prismacolor and a few others. The information highlighted is regarding blending properties of each pencil, showing you the various results from various blending products, it is incredibly unique and valuable.

Conclusion
As I have mentioned, it is really difficult writing a book review, especially one that has not been released yet. I am constantly conscious of not giving away too much information, to the extent people feel they do not need to purchase the book. Running the risk of destroying years of hard work and research on behalf of the author. There is so much to say about "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits", but to do so would spoil it for potential readers.
However, I can tell you in great detail what I thought of the book and what I felt I personally gained from it. I fell in love with the medium of colored pencils, I found so much freedom and escape from severe clinical depression and PTSD with colored pencils and the creative freedom of expression they offer. My passion only stared approximately a year and a half ago and throughout this time I have purchased and read almost every book written on colored pencils, so I like to think I have a good understanding of what is generally available to colored pencil artists and enthusiast in terms of literature.
I have to say, that Alyona Nickelsen's "Colored Pencil Painting Portraits", is the single most concise book I've ever read regarding portraiture with colored pencils. So many colored pencil artists struggle with portraiture, whether it is portraiture in its entirety or just a specific feature of the face, however, this book helps to build you up, right from the very foundations of portraiture art. Guiding you through every area you have perhaps at one time or another struggled with.
Alyona is such a highly respected authority in the world of colored pencil art and for good reason. Her knowledge is limitless and her passion to spread such wealth of knowledge unsurpassable. Alyona's passion for the medium shines through in her work. Alyona's first book on colored pencil art, "Colored Pencil Painting Bible" is a must have reference for colored pencil artists and enthusiasts alike. To have both these books on your studio library is in itself like having your very own colored pencil Alyona guru at your side, just waiting to help you overcome any colored pencil related challenge you may face.
To have access to this amount of knowledge on behalf of Alyona is to have a serious tool in your arsenal. This is a must have book for all colored pencil artists and not just those interested in portraiture but those looking to really understand and master the art of colored pencils.
