“Well,” Eddie mutters, more to himself. He rolls his shoulders back to shake his nerves and grips the rope of sheets in his hands tighter. “Here goes nothing.”

He tosses the rope up, aiming for the centre of the gate and just when he thinks it’s too short of a throw—that it will just fall back to the ground in a pathetic heap—something catches.

The sheets twist and then suddenly go taut, strung out through the middle of the gate, pulled by gravity in either direction.

Eddie huffs a relieved laugh, grinning up at the ceiling. He turns to look over his shoulder and Steve’s staring at the gate, green eyes wide and quizzical.

“Dude,” He says, taking another step so he’s shoulder to shoulder with Eddie. He peers forward, gaze trailing up the rope and seeing just what Eddie's done.

“You made a ladder,” He breathes, awed sounding.

Something warm in Eddie’s chest aches at the sound of Steve’s voice, admiring and directed solely at him. He huffs another laugh, nervous this time, and scratches the back of his neck.

“Wish I could take the credit, Stevie,” The nickname slips out without permission and Eddie catches the way Steve’s attention snaps over to him. “But I only borrowed the idea from Henderson.”

Steve smiles still, nudging Eddie’s shoulder with his own. “You can take a little credit. I won’t tell.”

ruby in all her glory

I know demons' true faces are supposed to be horrific. i think she's still gorgeous, though.

her horns are inspired by fiddlehead ferns, which are both lovely and somehow horrific, just like our girl (they are also delicious - real 'food of the elder gods' kind of thing imo). the pink extrusions could be brain matter, turned inside out and proudly displayed in the open

i started working on this a while back but didn't have time to get back to it till recently. i was originally just going to do a series of 3 pictures - human ruby, black eyes, and hellform. but i've been trying to learn after effects so decided to animate it and try some new techniques. and then it got way out of hand (as things tend to do for me). it also took me waaaay too long to make a usable gif from the animation. damn you, tumblr, and your 10MB (or 5? or 3??) convoluted and draconian gif size limits

That last photo set of Sting just made me realize that the homelander actor would be really good to play him in a biopic

Coincidentally, I was watching concert footage a few weeks ago and had a bit of a déjà vu moment seeing Sting's reaction to a 'fan' throwing mud at him. I half expected red laser beams to start shooting out of his eyes.

There's something familiar about his ability to track down the offender in a massive crowd, threaten to tear his arms off + kill him and alert his security all while continuing to sing and hold down a steady bassline.

Tfw you want to drop the act and maim someone but the show must go on.

i think part of why ruby is like. uncomfortably real to me personally is bc. with other characters in doctor who w/ abandonment issues like ten or amy they'd get deeply attached to people but then would hold them at arm's length or actively push them away later on when they started thinking of how the other person would leave first. meanwhile ruby is different in that she cannot form those deep attachments at all. she isn't hot-and-cold, close in one moment then lashing out in the next. she's just. disconnected. always distant. all the time. always living with the reminder of her abandonment but it doesn't make her angry it just makes her sort of distracted and muted and alone. semperdistans. fuck

i think the most damning thing i can say about this season is i don't really care that much about ruby leaving. partially this is because i know she will be back, granted, but this is still the end of her tenure as the main companion and i feel none of the gravitas that carries when the companion has been a truly successful character and significant part of the show

y'know, i keep making a habit of swinging my bat at hornets nests, but i have to say i'm getting so, so tired of people complaining about shows not making perfect sense when they aren't even close to done. we're four episodes into this season of doctor who. we're four episodes into this season of bridgerton. and yet in both fandoms i keep seeing people whine that such and such didn't make sense or it wasn't explained all the way and by god you guys i think maybe explanations might come later in the season. this is something most viewers will recognize as being called a 'plot.'

If they every decide to give Yang the muscles she deserves then they need to give ALL of team rwby the muscles they deserve.

No skimping out either, if y'all want Yang to be built like a double decker bus then Ruby is built like the "girl that swings crescent rose and dashes away like an energy bunny on speed" that she is. Weiss is built like the "ice skater/swordmage duelist that is capable of carrying her teammates away" that she is. Blake is built like the "ninja/pirate queen who acts like the anchor in a lot of their sling shot moves" that she is!
