probably an unpopular opinion: but i didn't hate this situation

stolas looked to blitz for permission. even after all the fighting and hurt feelings, he still cares enough to see if blitz is okay with stolas dancing with this guy, and blitz gives him permission.

stolas has never had any experience outside of stella and blitz. his relationship with stella was toxic, and he wasn't happy. his relationship with blitz has been solely built on sex, with a lot of stolas having to tiptoe around his own feelings. stolas never really got to experiment outside of his relationship with blitz, and with how blitz treated him, i think he should be allowed to do what he wants.

stolitz is endgame (ofc), but i see nothing wrong with stolas having his rebound and expressing himself. he's never been openly desired in such a way, and he deserves to explore that. if blitz is allowed to fuck other people, so is stolas.

also, this dude was nothing but nice to stolas, and i see no reason to hate on him. he's giving stolas an opportunity to have a kind of fun he's never had before. with stolas' lifestyle, he's never been able to attend a party just for the sake of having fun, dancing, and getting drunk.

can we please stop infantilizing stolas? just because his experience is limited, doesn't mean he's incapable of making his own choices. he doesn't need blitz, and i think it's important that he discovers himself more before the two of them rekindle their relationship. if he wants to party and kiss a guy, then so be it. if blitz did the same, no one would care—so let stolas fuck some random guy if he wants to!!

ok so i have some Tobirama thoughts cuz i watch Naruto rn and over analyzing everything

but whatever i need this character study to get my characterisation of him straight.

So basically I just thinking over what an ass Tobirama is towards the Uchiha clan

and a disclaimer: i love Tobirama he's my fav, I just want to understand him better and PLEASE share your own opinions too! i feel like im making a whole paper on him or smth

Tobirama was basically "I separated Uchiha in their own compound from the main cast of the village and ordered them to make a police force (and everyone knows how people "love" cops, especially in military settlement) not because I hate them. They're just dangerous and prone to mental instability (thinking of Madara much? Dude if ppl feel love intensely, and you don't, it fucking doesn't mean they're mentally ill). But I know some good Uchiha (Kagami who was under his command?? and Itachi who massacred the whole clan for the village????) so I don't hate Uchiha."

Like okay, he doesn't hate hate them, but he IS prejudged af. As much as I like to read stories where he isn't like this and kinda more forgiving, in canon he is an ass.

And honestly it makes sense for Tobirama to be like that (I'm not defending him, I'm just trying to lay his thought process down). Like he fought with Uchiha for most of his life and he doesn't have pink glasses on his nose like Hashirama. He knows they're dangerous and he learned to mistrust them since they're enemy.

And he has his own theories about Sharingan, but basically he thinks that bitches are so sensitive, they can't handle a little hurt and loss.

I honestly think that he's wrong, like I think Sharingan awakens by high levels of stress (maybe cortisol levels shoot up suddenly?) Tobirama is only one man who tried to understand that and he barely interreacted with Uchiha personally.

Ok i just found this but bitch really came up with this theory based on rumors. Dude, please stop spreading misinformation.

Though we don't know their medical progress at this point, so maybe he really didn't know? Like he didn't have enough medical knowledge to get this theory straight. He has his special interest in making jutsu and you don't need to know people well enough. You just need to know how to kill them effectively.

Also, dude, if you (or maybe Senju in general) don't react as strong as the Uchiha, it doesn't mean they're mentally ill or cursed.

Oh and Tobirama thinks he's done GOOD for Uchiha. I mean his brother thinks it's slight for the Uchiha to get separated, living near prison and being avoided by village since they're the police force, but for Tobirama it's a job well done cuz it helped the village. He's a practical man who doesn't even think about feelings like that.

I think with Konoha he kinda played the game like SimSity but IRL. Optimised and used the resources he had to do the best working village. You don't think about sims' feelings when you make them pay higher taxes or make them live near dumpster just cuz you think it's okay and they will manage, right?

Before it was his brother to care for this kind of stuff. But then he died (how the fuck btw? I hc it was a disease but damn in some timelines he died when he was like 42 but damn WHAT could've killed The God of Shinobi) and Tobirama stayed alone. I assume his family wasn't much help and they had a 1st war near, so Tobirama had to work fast and efficient.

I think Tobirama was also offended at Madara since he tried to destroy the village he put a lot of work into (lets be real, Tobirama doing most of administrative work is basically canon, not a headcanon, it sits way too right)

Plus I think Tobirama like many people was impressed + scared of Madara. Like he's crazy strong and ofc you're afraid, I get it. But Madara is an exception, not the rule. He's just a freak of nature + I think being Indra reincarnation had its influence too. It's not the whole Uchiha clan, but Tobirama judges them like he'd judge Madara.

Maybe he's a bit paranoid. Understandable since being a ninja and it's what keeps you alive, but this lack of trust really showed through all of the history between Tobirama and Uchiha clan.

Okay maybe hc territory, but I think Tobirama doesn't get emotions much in general. He's very autistic coded and, being on the spectrum myself, I can get where he's coming from. I trained my empathy cuz not having one is considered wrong. Tobirama probably didn't cuz no one told him to or he didn't consume this type of content in his childhood (i trained myself by cartoons lol). He cares, but he doesn't get feelings and makes these kinds of theories, based on rumors (damn dude fact check please).

Maybe since he doesn't get emotions much he's used to depend on other people in this regard? Like people start saying these rumors and he watches himself and is like "Yeah that seems possible" especially since Madara got his big drama time about Izuna. He has big feelings = has strong Sharingan. It is plausible.

I dont think Tobirama wanted to check it for sure, since 1) WHO will let the White demon near their precious eyes to help him understand how they work; 2) it's not his point of interest. he had village to run, jutsu to make, kids to teach. the bitch was busy and it's only 24 h/day

so yeah Tobirama had his reasons but he's an ass lol. like dude did start this chain of Uchiha slander and then when they were massacred he was like "Oh boohoo they self destructed what a pity" DUDE 😭

THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS EPISODE 4 DISCUSSION NOTES!!!!

TALK TO ME ABOUT THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS!!! IM BEGGING YOU!!!!

Spoilers ahead :D so many spoilers :D

IVE GOT THOUGHTS!!! That can most conveniently be organized in sections of character analysis… Some Jax and Ragatha are in there too but these are the MAIN ones I have the most thoughts on/thoughts that revolve around them but still include other characters. LETS GO!!!

CAINE!

Allow me to indulge in my PERSONAL favorite thing first before being more general- im getting these out of the way first cause theyre less THIS EPISODE and more how this episode adds to the rest of his character and omg i love him sm….

I loved when Zooble and Jax talked about Caine. I love when Caine specifically is talked about. Cause like- people's opinions of him. I care about a lot. itll ALWAYS be interesting, cause hes THE GUY. THE MAN. THE DUDE THAT PUTS THEM THROUGH ALL THE SHIT THEY HATE AND MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE “REAL” FEELINGS. He’s a really unsuspecting goofy character at a glance who (telling from ep 3) like actually KINDA cares?? Cant tell if it’s for more selfish reasons or what, but he’s clearly PROGRAMMED to care about his guests, so he does.

And some people (zooble) are kinda SCARED OF HIM and FOR GOOD REASON???? Like yeah no shit, Jax. Caine has the power to do ANYTHING including killing you…torturing you for all eternity. fun stuff like that!

But he won't! cause hes not programmed for that. So he wont.

Also side note: Caine said in the last episode “Zooble! look at this cool bee I drew!” and on his desk he just has a shitton doodles of bees. This is all he does in his free time.

Second more important side note: Caine glitching out at the end feels important, but also feels like just a comedic moment. and idk what to make of that. LOCKING IT IN MY HEAD EITHER WAY CAUSE IT CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD ON THE FIRST VIEWING SO MUCH 😭

LAST THOUGHT: I would LOVE for him to gain sentience cause I have a sneaking suspicion he doesn’t right now telling from how he’s literally PART of the circus they’re in… HM… Cause telling from Gummigoo it IS POSSIBLE for AI to gain sentience…. Foreshadowing perchance… OH YEAH, GUMMIGOO!!!

HE TOTALLY RECOGNIZED POMNI AROUND THE END OF THEIR INTERACTION. his face changed when she said that none of this is real in front of him, HE KNOWS. SHE KNOWS. but they also understand Caine wont let him stay. Kinda like a Sans (kill me) moment of “ik none of this matters, but since it wont last, I’ll at least be happy doing it!”

Something I love about the writing also…This being a very rushed adventure that Caine didn't get to spend a lot of time on explains WHYYYYY GUMMIGOO IS IN THIS. LIKE THIS WASN’T JUST FOR THE PLOT IT ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE???? all of the NPCs in it are unfinished or redos. He didn't have time to make new ones. ***I JUST LOVE THAT THAT'S SO SMART***

Her taking off that smile mask and actually smiling with her real face KILLED ME. shes learning to be her authentic self and I love it

Jax constantly breaking her happy mask, making her reveal her true sad face feels like the equivalent of bullying the quiet kid like- she's always just pretending to be happy/okay, but then him harassing her makes her “break character “ (EH??? EH??? BREAK??????? CHARACTER????????? MASK?????????WHAT??????)

But Gangle going crazy I think is a sortaaaa “metaphor” (there's a better word but I cant think of it) for how pretending to be someone your not can make you the person you hate. Like she was kinda abusive in this episode… People who are awful people were all victims once, technically- not ALL ofc cause nothing is black and white n all that, but you get me-

IN GENERAL…

i think the motif of this episode was pretending to be someone you're not, for whatever reason you have. Not just for Gangle! For Jax, its to entertain himself, keep em sane. And for Gangle, its for everyone else. But for RAGATHA…I feel its both. She wants to feel useful/helpful for herself for selfish reasons BUT she also just wants to be useful/helpful for everyone else for kind, caring reasons. I already got that vibe before this episode, but Gangle talking about how she cant tell when Ragatha is being genuine or not makes me very confident this is the case

I thought Gangle was gonna abstract in that last bit of the episode, and im like 99% sure that was intentional. I love that a lot… I love how this show is written, abstracting was introduced right away, so now its a looming threat across all these characters youve grown to love, appreciate, and relate too

Idk what Gangle getting hit by the truck was a reference to, but part of my brain rot theorizing in me wants to say this digital world is basically Hell and thats how she “died” before getting here. Doesnt make any godamn sense and the truck thing totally has other explainations I JUST CANT THINK OF ANY!!! PUTTEM IN THE COMMENTS BELOW AND DONT FORGET TO HIT THAT BEL- *gets shot*

Mother Gooseberry babying/coddling y/n headcanons! Pretty please 🥺 I want to feel tiny

to be honest with you, I've been really obsessed with outlast trials lately and has been playing non stop recently, because I wanna get to the second catalog!!

Warnings: blood, gore, injury, basic outlast stuff

→ you were certainly new to the trials pretty much stepping on every trap you could possibly find. Even though you didn't do it on purpose. It's just every time you would run from an enemy a trap would somehow be in front of you and you know what happens next. and also you got bullied a lot by the enemies, especially the giants and Coyle and also Franco. (broskis in his widowmaker era hitting me from across the map😔)

→ but anyways, when it came to Mother gooseberey, she was such a breath of fresh air. There was something about her that generally comforted you, as sick and twisted as that may be considering that she chases you around with a drill that is her father and has a real yapping problem and probably should be locked up for life if he wasn't actually dead rip. (We love him tho) but his daughter adores you and has pretty much made it in her brain that you're her baby, and that when she catches you you won't be able to escape from her grip!!

→ ok, and once she has you, you are literally spoiled with affection, it's everything from smooches, her literally carrying you, which is insane, considering she has only one free hand/arm, Her other arm is amputated and has the drill obviously. So, like, imagine, she's holding you with one arm, ok? both of your hands around her neck and you're just curled up in her side, and she just casually carrying you like its nothing.

→ so basically any affection that you could possibly think of she gives it to you, unless she's not capable of it of course. But she tries and also she has a tendency of hugging you so hard that you have to tell her that you need to breathe but ya know you'll be fine.

→ also, another scenario I'd like to imagine is, ok, imagine you're on that fancy bed that we all first see when we do the tutorial, for the very first part of the game. The exact same fancy bed that we have to hide under because of the psychosis dude. Ok, so Mother Gooseberry is laying down you're on top of her, your face is in her neck or in her shoulder/chest. Her hand on your back, and you're just essentially laying on top of her on your stomach, and you're just curled up, and she's rubbing your back and let me tell you, you had the best sleep you ever had since you made it to this facility.

→ also another thing I'd like to mention she is very over protective and possessive of you obviously your her baby, her little Angel that could do no wrong essentially. if you get injured somehow like really bad, bleeding, gash, basically the most horrendous thing that you could possibly think of or whether someone mess with you or you got hurt while just exploring the orphans/mansion (because who wouldn't) Phyllis thy Futterman will be drilling a bitch and who knows you might be able to watch her put a cute new face on one of her dolls/latest victims 🥰 (if your into that ofc)

→ and if your injured, she would gently bandage you up and if you ask nicely, she might even kiss it better. Also another thing, even Dr. Futterman went off the chain, even though he's been in bag jail alot for insulting you. Phyllis says he cares deep down, but whether that's true we'll never know.

"They're a ten but they're your roommate?" Nick reads off his phone coving his mouth, "Guys, you are the most annoying people ever." Nick says about their fans.

"They're still a ten." Chris answers first, "Hell, Dani is above a ten." He says not caring anymore about how fans act.

"She's above a hundred." Matt laughs while Chris's eyes widen.

"People are gonna get mad." He waves his hands around.

"Yep, I know I know." Matt knew it would blow up.

"Big time. I say above a ten and you say above a hundred."

"I'm not going to apologize." Matt looks straight into the camera.

"Don't overthink it guys!" Nick tells the viewers, "It's because Dani is amazing." Nick says knowing the two weren't just going off her personality, "Amazing!"

"They don't like your mommy?" Matt reads the next question.

"Dude zero. Might as well go." Nick answers.

"You don't like my mommy, I don't like you." Chris says making a face.

"You know mom can't wait to meet Dani when we go to visit." Matt looks over at Chris.

"Nick, you talk the most about Dani to her right?" Chris looks back at him.

"Yeah, so like Matt said she's excited." Nick smiles excited for them to meet, "She's like hurry up."

"Dad wants to too." Chris adds.

Matt starts to smile as he bites on his nails, "We must talk about her a lot to them."

"Oh really?!"

Matt stops smiling looking at Chris, "Don't be sarcastic."

"I don't think so."

"And that's why Dani didn't join us." Matt points out to him.

"No, it's not."

"Yes, it is."

"Go ahead, ask her." Nick leans forward tapping in his shoulder.

"Okay." Chris pulls out his phone to call her and she picks up.

"Huh?" She asks him as he puts her in speaker.

"I have a question to ask you."

"Okay, what is it?" She asks him.

"Why didn't you join us for the car video tonight? Matt and Nick say it's because I'm sarcastic at times." He tells her.

"Well I mean... it's because how you were being sarcastic earlier with me and it was annoying me when I was trying to have a serious conversation with you." She explains so Chris looks right at the camera not expecting that to be aired out.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought you were joking as well. Again sorry, see you when we get home." He hangs up then looks at his brothers staring at him. "Okay, y'all were right."

When the guys do get home Dani was in her room sound asleep from taking her meds. It wasn't until around 2am that Chris saw her in the kitchen getting a drink quietly.

"You're alive." He jokes with her as he gets a drink as well.

"I have a killer headache so who knows how much longer I'll be alive." She takes more meds.

"I'm sorry for pissing you off earlier when I wasn't being serious." He apologizes again.

"It's okay, Chris. I also had a headache then so I was just annoyed already." She explains to him.

"What can I do to help you?" He walks closer to her running one of his hands through her hair causing her to enjoy the feeling.

"That. Like rub my head and, oh yeah." She smiles closing her eyes as he uses both of his hands to massage her head.

"You're gonna end up falling asleep standing here." He quietly laughs at her.

"Yep," She sighs then moves away walking away, "So you can continue while we lay in bed." She says heading to his room.

Chris couldn't believe she was actually going to sleep with him tonight. When they have shared a bed in the past it's always her room. She had never slept in his room before like she has with Matt and Nick.

Walking into his room, Dani was already in bed waiting for him and already falling asleep once again, "You know this is our first sleepover in my room." He lays next to her rubbing her head again.

"It is isn't?" She mumbles falling asleep more.

"About time by the way." He tells her and she just hums in response, "Night Dani."

"Night Chris."

For the next morning Chris wakes up before Dani seeing her head was on his chest with one arm across him as his arm was around her keeping her in place. Reality sets in and he quickly picks his arm up, "Dani, it's time to get up." He whispers waking her up.

"What time is it?" She mumbles.

"Noon." He looks at the time.

"Ugh, you suck you know that." She gets up leaving his room going to Matt's room knowing he was still most likely sleeping. She wasn't ready to get up yet and she also wanted a cuddle buddy. She knew Nick was up because he was watching tv so her bet was on Matt.

Just like she thought he was still in bed sound asleep so she crawls into bed waking him up a bit, "Huh?" He was confused for a second.

"Chris is ready to get up and I still want a cuddle bubby." She explains to him.

"Come here." He rolls over opening his arms for her to cuddle him, "What time is it?" He asks.

"Noon,"

"Yeah, I'm not ready to get up yet." He rests his chin on top of her head pulling her closer to his chest falling back to sleep.

When Chris joins Nick he asks did Dani pass by confusing him so Chris realized she went to Matt's room, "What happened to you being Dani's best friend?" He asks giving him a look.

"Matt happened." Nick looks over at him, "Honestly it's Sam and Colby's fault. If the two didn't get stuck in the elevator together... Things would be different."

"She would still live with Colby, we wouldn't have a roommate, and you still would be the closest to her."

"Exactly," Nick agrees.

"Do you wish this were different?" Chris asks him curiously.

"No, no. I love having her here as well. I was just curious about your feelings." Chris says quickly.

About two hours later Matt and Dani wake up wanting to go buy lunch to bring back home which the other two didn't mind since they didn't have to pay. The plan was to pick the food up inside after Dani had to run into the store to get a few things.

"Hey, can you watch my best friend, please? I just need to run into the store real quick, I'll be back soon." Dani says propping her phone up on the dashboard.

Matt watches as she opens the car door and steps out, shutting it softly after. His confused eyes follow her figure as it walks into the store.

"Uhh," He mutters out, looking into the camera. "I- u-umm," He looks down at his phone pretending he was doing something feeling odd. He lets out a small breath before he looks back up, "I wonder how long she'll be."

A silence fills up the car for what feels like an eternity to him, but in reality is only a few seconds. He looks down at his cup holder, "Oh I need to drink this before Dani accidently does." He shows the Pineapple Fanta, "Incase you guys didn't know, Dani is allergic to Pineapples. Which sucks because I love Pineapples so I have to be careful around her."

Silence fills up the car once more as Matt drinks the soda, "If she drank this I would have to take her to the hospital. It's that bad." He lets them know, "Also I learned doing research people with pineapple allergies may also experience cross-reactive reactions after eating other fruits, such as kiwi, papaya, apricot, or chestnut.." He adds.

"She's also nervous to meet our mom and dad when we go to Boston in a few days. Mostly our mom. She doesn't want to mess up her first impression so we keep telling her she'll be fine." Matt looks over at the sound of the passenger door opening, and Dani getting in setting the plastic bag down at her feet, "What'd you buy?" He asks.

"Ice cream, chips, pain pills, and a Dr. Pepper." She reply's with a grin reaching for her phone. "Anyway, thanks for watching him for me, guys!"

"I let them know you were allergic to Pineapple and I drank the soda that was left in here. I didn't want you accidently drinking it." He let's her know.

"This is why I love you so much. You're so caring." She ruffles up is hair before ending the recoding.

It was 11 pm and Kai still hadn't come to bed, which confused you. He had this habit of getting lost in his work, and while it helped him work efficiently, it made him overwork himself a lot. In fact, before you, he would be stuck in his office for days, engrossed in his work.

Knowing this, you decided to take matters into your own hands.

"Kai!" you called, knocking on his office door...no response.

The door creaks as you push the door open and you see him. Buried in piles of paperwork and looking absolutely exhausted. He was still wearing his unnecessarily huge plague mask but had taken off his green and purple jacket.

The room was dimly lit and although he looked dashingly handsome, he also looked ready to drop right then and there. You made your way slowly to his desk and stood behind him and rested your hand on his shoulder. No reaction.

"Kai, I think you should com to bed, you've been working so hard and need to rest" you whispered softly

"NO" he replied coldly, catching you off guard.

"Come on sweetheart, you need to rest, it's not healthy to stay up this long working" you moved your hand up to his soft hair, running your fingers through it slowly.

He let out a soft sigh but didn't budge.

"I'm fine y/n, just go to bed, I'll be their in a few hours" he said, voice growing colder.

"No Kai, I'm not leaving unless you come with me"

" Y/n, I'm doing something important so just leave"

"Can't it wait till tomorrow?"

"If it could wait till tomorrow then would I be doing it right now? Gosh just use your common sense"

"Fucking hell y/n, STOP BEING SO FUCKING STUPID AND GET THE HELL OUT OF MY OFFICE! I'M TRYING TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL WITH MY LIFE AND INSTEAD OF BEING SUPPORTIVE YOU START GIVING ME THIS BULLSHIT! GET OUT!!"

Well heck. He's never shouted at you or called you such awful things. Stupid? Did he really think that? Is that what he has felt about you all along. Has he always seen you as useless?

You're thoughts were suffocating you and it was all becoming too much. You covered your mouth to muffle your sobs and ran out of his office, slamming the door closed on your way out.

You could barely see ahead of yourself, tears obstructing your vision. Your lung ached from the sobs and cries you were trying (and failing) to hold in.

You rushing into you and Kai's room, closing the door and crashing onto the mattress. You stuffed a pillow onto your face and let your cries free. Your entire body shook from all the pain. And this would continue for another 30 minutes.

After you had calmed down, you went numb, your pain slowly turning into anger. Fine, If Chisaki wanted silence so bad, then that is exactly what he would get. With your revenge planned, you slept, prepared for war.

You woke up to the feeling of Chisaki's gloved hand wrapped around your waist, his body pressed against your back and his head tucked perfectly into the crook of your neck. The absence of his mask caused his breath to gently fan across your neck.

While all of this usually caused your heart to warm, but today it just annoyed you.

You slowly wiggled out of his grip and began preparing for the day. You made your way out of the closet (it's a walk in closet ofc) and stopped walking when your eyes landed on Kai. He was sitting up on the bed. He had already put on his casual mask.

He turned to look at you and his eyes creased slightly, meaning he was smiling at you.

"Morning angel" he said softly in his rough morning voice.

But you just scoffed and walked out.

Kai quirked his brow in confusion, staring at the door.

"Guess she didn't hear me" he said with a shrug, pushing himself off the bed and to his feet, making his way to the bathroom to get washed up.

You were in the kitchen, sitting at the counter and enjoying a plate of waffles and scrolling through your phone when Chisaki mad his way into the kitchen.

He lowered his plague mask to place a quick peck on your cheek, lifting it back up almost immediately.

"Moring" he mumbled

... no response.

This caused him to turn and face you, confusion evident on his features.

"Hellooo?"

"Angel? What's going on?

And to that all he received was a glare followed by you walking out of the room and leaving him his thoughts. His thought that began reminding him of you tow's dreadful encounter the previous day.

Kai's heart sank as he recalled your encounter. all the hateful word vomit he spewed to you yesterday, all in the name of peace.

The more he thought about it the more pain he felt. his chest constricted, his breathing speeding up. Never in his entire life had he felt like such a revolting peace of shit.

And then it hit him.

You...hate him.

I mean why wouldn't you? after all the pain he caused you you have every right to. But if you hate him, then that means... your going to leave him.

Panic encompassed his entire being as he rushed through the Hassaikai's base. He needs to find. He needs to stop you. He needs to apologise, needs to make you stay, because if you didn't he doesn't know if his heart could take it.

After wandering for a few minutes and found you in the garden, walking along the stone path as you admired the greenery.

Without and once of thought, Chisaki ran to you as fast as he could, engulfing you in his arms.

You were shocked to say the least, and were about to knock him off you before you noticed that he was shaking.

"Kai?" you whispered softly, draping your hands around his waist.

"I'm sorry" he croaked into your neck. " I'm sorry for yelling, I'm sorry for Being rude to you and for...for calling you stupid" His voice cracked. He pulled back and you saw tears balancing on his water line.

"Please don't leave me"

His words shocked you, leave him?

"Why would I do that?"

"Because i deserve it for being a worthless shitty human being who made you cry and doesn't even deserve to live" he whimpered

"Hey, don't talk like that" you said in a hushed tone, feeling the tears slowly trickle down your face

"I know that you said some pretty rude and harsh things and even if we aren't okay now, if we communicate properly we can work our way though this"

"So...you f-forgive me?"

"No, not yet, but eventually i will"

"And you're n-not... not l-leaving?"

You pulled him into a hug and whispered against his ear,'

okayyy let me just start off with WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK WAS THAT ENDING LAUREN???? i'm not okay because of it. like nuh uh get lost. u had no right to do that (im saying this as if it didnt get spoiled for me and i didnt gaslight myself the entire book read that it wasn't going to happen)

i would like to straight up say this seemed like a filler book. just a set up for the next one, it didn't really have all too much plot-wise aside from pae and kai's romance. it was less on the fantasy side and more on the romance but i still enjoyed it a lot. and obviously since it was a filler book there was less character development (for some- im looking at you paedyn)

kai and pae were really cute in this book honestly (and as it mostly focuses on the romance ofc they were) the banter and everything was so wonderful to read i was giggling and kicking my feet wayyy to much. the romance was romancing but also not romancing at the same time (im not even gonna try to explain that just use vibes)

i do feel as though lauren's writing has definitely improved from powerless. she has this whimsical magical style of writing that i love it really takes me into the world of the book (mostly). other times the long sentences were too much in moments. like lauren. we did not need to know the colour of the bricks in the market at this certain moment in time when you'd already explained the colour two pages ago-

paedyn - ok i love her. i really do she's such a good fmc BUT for me in this book she was boring-ish. and hella indecisive like girly pop if i had kai talking to me like that i'd be folding so damn fast- but yeah it felt like she didn't have too much character development aside from finding out her dad was actually her dad. also i idk who the fuck she was trying to fool with her 'i hate you' to kai, like be fucking for real bitch no you dont.

kai - ok bye i could write a whole rant on why i love this man. like im sat. this book felt more like kai's book (as powerless felt like pae's) imo we got more on his backstory and i think his character (and povs) were more interesting for me to focus on. also his flirting and little one liners had me giggling and shit my sister actually woke up to me grinning like an idiot under torch light-

You have to explain to him that your hair isn't actually cursed by some weird dude looking to steal stuff

"I was born like this, I can just make my hair move and stuff."

Cue Leo's suspicious squinting.

He does believe you! He just cant help peaking around corners detective style to spy on your hair at first.

Once he gets use to it tho, he's got to admit, having hair you can use to grab things jussst barely out of reach is amazing!

His jaw drops when he realizes you can fight using your hair too-

Your hair wraps around a rather slippery warthog mutant and launches him several feet away

Leo is staring in shock and possible fear

They'd been trying to get a hold on that mutant for ages, and you just managed to grab him no problem???

And launch him like a soft ball???????

Or when he's sleeping and the blanket slips off, you'll reach around to pull it back up and make sure he's covered

He appreciates these little gestures so much

During battle,

He sees you literally form a fist shape with your hair and deck a rather aggressive yokai right in the face,

Sending them flying down the street

Raph will stop and stare in awe

For the directors cut ask game, I would absolutely love to here about ‘none of this is real’ it’s so surreal yet so painfully grounded.

ahhh i love None of This Is Real! i actually wrote this one so fast that i forgot all about it - i got a comment that was like 'i love this passage!' and i was like wait that passage slaps and i reread the fic and went :0

this fic was originally supposed to be for an AU-gust challenge! the prompt was 'case fic' and in the end, i decided not to post it for that bc the trope felt...kind of loose to me. the original idea for this fic was actually much different! it was supposed to be more of a case fic in the traditional sense: once Adrien is trapped in his own head, there's some kind of murder that he needs to solve before he can leave, but why is everyone treating him like he's the murderer?

in the end, i abandoned that idea mostly because it felt kind of wrong. if the point of the fic is that adrien's in his own head, the people he loves can't outwardly treat him like he's done something wrong - also having only ladybug be in that world with him i think made the vibe more like what i was going for. my initial idea was for the victim to be gabriel ofc, but then i realized that i didn't know how to make the monarch identity reveal play into that in a way that wasn't contrived, so i scrapped it.

another initial idea was for ladybug to lead adrien to the eiffel tower and they would find monarch's body underneath, kind of reminiscent of the eiffel tower being 'ground zero' in chat blanc's world. but then i was like...there's no suspence there. it's just a dude on the ground. and it also kind of takes away from the whole 'adrien and ladybug alone in a world of his making' thing if he just...sees monarch.

so that's when the gravedigging idea came along - and i think it definitely aligned more with my vision! then it felt like adrien making an active choice to find the truth rather than...randomly stumbling upon it lol

writing not!ladybug was actually surprisingly fun! she's kind of uncanny valley-ish i think - looks like ladybug and talks like ladybug but acts absolutely Nothing like her. but she still cares about adrien, because she's a part of him! fighting to protect his own mind!

there's a couple lil things i threw in this fic that i can highlight too!

The hand in Ladybug's is bare — he's detransformed, ring on his finger. He's alone with Ladybug, who knows his name. Who still takes his hand. -> the way he thinks the only way Ladybug could take his hand as Adrien is if none of this is real....as though she could never possibly want to otherwise

"I'm real to you," not-Ladybug says, and she sounds hurt. -> just a lil insight into adrien's pov of ladybug....she's always Real to him. she's always a Hero to him.

She smiles, then, and she looks so much like his lady that it makes his chest squeeze. "Not you. Us. Together." We're not together, Adrien wants to say to her. You're not really here. It's still me, alone, just like it's always been. -> more of his pov of ladybug! proof of how deeply her abandonment hurt him, even when his brain is actively fighting against it!

Why, he wonders, does a man like Monarch have such a beautiful coffin? A man who no one even bothered to give an epitaph? Did he pick it out for himself? Did Adrien pick it out for him, from the depths of his subconscious? -> yes. he did. and the fact that adrien never saw his mother's coffin....i like to think he'd think it's beautiful. he'd want his parents in matching coffins :')

There’s something odd about seeing him like this. The villain they’ve spent so long at war with, the most hated man in Paris is still just that: only a man. He can be buried. He can die. -> i think i push this concept a lot in my Hawk Moth reveal fics - i think i did the same thing back in Parable too? but i love the idea of the realization that this villain who has always seemed larger than life is just...a guy. just a dude. someone you could pass on the street. knowing that most of his strength is because you built him up in your head.

A world with no pain and no sadness and no hurt, and this is the requirement. Adrien must have no father. That is the trade the universe demands. -> in a way, exactly what happened in the S5 finale.

“Isn’t the world a better place without Monarch? Without your father?” “He’s my father,” Adrien says quietly. “How can you ask me that question? He’s my father.” -> and this is what it all comes down to.

He would laugh if he weren’t crying. Free? What does it mean to be free? Is it freedom to be a murderer, to know you’re a murderer? To know you’ve killed your own father, just as you’ve so often dreamed of doing — he, who is your worst enemy? He, whose love you desire above all else? Whose love you will never get, because he will die? Because of you? -> this is the passage a lovely commentator highlighted!! made me go damn and reread the whole fic. and this fic doesn't even go into the whole senti!adrien thing but again....what is freedom? is adrien truly free now with his rings in his own hands?

The momentum sends him flying forward and then he's falling, falling. A hand on his back, a clawed finger against his neck, and nothing in his vision but eyes so red he can hardly stand to look at them. So he doesn't. When he finally opens his eyes, he's flat on his stomach, cheek against the concrete. It's quiet. Feet in his vision, then: spotted, familiar. Ladybug.

The sensation of falling; his eyes are screwed shut, his father’s hand is slipping from his own, and then he's falling, falling. A hand on his forearm, ashes in his lungs, and nothing in his vision but eyes so violet he can hardly stand to look at them. So he doesn't. When he finally opens his eyes, he's flat on his stomach, cheek against the concrete. It's quiet. Feet in his vision, then: spotted, familiar. Ladybug. -> i like mirrors in writing.....the same prose to travel in and out of his head....ladybug and not!ladybug's actions mirroring each other.....images of monarch contrasting with the akuma...

“Ladybug,” he says quietly. “I know who Monarch is.” -> this final line was actually the first one i wrote! i was like 'i have NO idea what the fic will be like but this has to be the ending'

i think they were supposed to get married. and helen was going to go to aga. but their dynamics didn't work and they had to do the suitor thing to keep people happy anyway so like. just let them choose. and they chose the opposite of what tyndareus originally set up.

they're both very tall. menelaus is taller, but cly is tall for a woman of her time. idk. that's just something they have in common, which is sweet.

they're very. quiet. menelaus is just naturally submissive, cly not so much but sometimes she is just happy to sit. and listen. so honestly? they will escape their noisy and energy-consuming partners with each other. to just sit. in silence. and recharge.

i have a strong HC that menelaus loves birds. is just a bird dude. i like to think cly indulges him. she has strong maternal energy to like to just indulge menelaus' quirks and stuff is something she is happy to do. does she understand anything he's saying? probably not.

cly has a strong 'teacher' personality and menelaus likes to learn. (there is an element of aga that is like 'i know everything already') so considering she is a princess and well educated for the time, i think she teaches menelaus stuff. or at the very least, talks about stuff he doesn't know and he absorbs it.

in the same vein, perhaps she taught him to read or write a little.

clytemnestra finds menelaus very endearing. he's a little too ...... soft for her own personal tastes, but she can see the appeal of him to a potential wife. she notices that he is kinder and quieter and more gentle than most of the men around him.

similarly, cly kind of intimidates menelaus. she has aerope energy and i feel he can see that. he's not scared of her and he doesn't begrudge her having a voice or influence as a woman. she's just very mature and serious (in comparison to helen, at least) and whilst that's not what he wants in a wife, he can see why she's so alluring. she's incredible and very pretty!

menelaus creeps around clytemnestra after helen leaves. he clearly blames himself. and he feels like cly will hate him. for either not loving her sister enough or y'know is she in danger going to troy?! ... but cly doesn't. she's worried, ofc. but she knows menelaus' past and he always struck her as a man to try. when menelaus goes to mycenea to tell aga what's happened, he stays there for a time and she comforts him. eases him. they spend time together and talk.

when menelaus goes to troy he leaves hermione at mycenea. and i feel he does that cause he's seen what a great mother cly is (this is pre-iphi remember) and he trusts her wholeheartedly with his baby. his miracle lil girl. thats huge praise. and i feel like cly is really touched by that.

he's sad when he heard whats happened between cly and his brother. it's an awful situation all round for him and i think he just feels heartbreak. he still blames himself for troy and this all stems from that and he's lost two people that matter to him and i feel he's lost for a while. but i don't think his grief is SOLELY for aga. he even tells orestes that he wanted to come back from egypt and embrace aga AND his wife.

menelaus cares about cly. a lot. because his brother does and off her own merit.
