not technically kirby related but there's a cute little slice of life series called poyo poyo kansatsu nikki that I stumbled upon browsing crunchyroll years and years ago, about a very round cat. who also says poyo. "I like this take better," Layne said as he sat back in his office chair at PattyCake.

Geoff stood behind him as they watched the monitor. "I like the first one better."

"Yeah, it gives you more of a closeup, you diva." Layne stood and stretched. "I need a break. Be right back. Don't touch anything."

Geoff put a fingertip on the back of Layne's chair. "Touch."

"Smartass." Layne left, and Geoff sat down in the vacated chair. After a couple of seconds he noticed Layne's phone sitting on the desk. He picked it up and found it wasn't locked.

A grin came to his face as he opened the phone, and after tapping at the screen for a bit he set it back down. He barely had enough time to turn back to the monitor before Layne came back in. "Hey, that's my chair."

"You weren't using it." Geoff spun around once.

Layne grabbed the back of the chair and shook it. "My chair!"

Geoff held on. "My chair!"

Layne came around in front of Geoff and began to try to pull him out by his legs as Geoff held on to the chair arms. "My chair!"

"Ahem. My husband."

Layne turned his head and Geoff peeked around him to see Kathy in the doorway. Layne quickly dropped Geoff's feet. "Tell him to give me back my chair."

Kathy rolled her eyes. "You two are worse than toddlers. Geoff, come on. We need to leave anyway."

"Fine." He got up, and Layne sat down in the chair with a triumphant sound. "See ya, Layne."

"No rush." Geoff and Kathy left, and Layne went back to his work.

That night, Layne lay in bed by himself. Cyndi had wanted to finish a movie she was watching, but it seemed to be taking a long time. Bored, he picked up his phone and texted Cyndi. Hey beautiful. Want to come up and keep me company?

After a second or two his phone buzzed. Not really, no.

Layne frowned, wondering if Cyndi was mad at him. But it's cold in here. I need some love to keep me warm.

Sorry. Don't think I can help you. Might want to check with your wife.

He blinked. What...Who is this?

A few seconds later a selfie of J None popped up. I mean, I'm flattered. But you know how wives get.

Layne's cheeks tinged red as he checked the name at the top of the screen, which said "Cyndi" like it should have. How...His eyes narrowed as he remembered leaving his phone in his office. Geoff. He texted J again. Sorry.

No problem.

Layne growled to himself as he texted Geoff. I'm going to kill you!

Geoff's text came back, a crying-from-laughter emoji then Love you too, Layne. See you tomorrow.

Layne sighed, then fixed Cyndi's and J's contacts in his phone. At least he hadn't texted J anything too embarassing.
