Ghosts of Past, Present, and Future, but they come to haunt a closeted Victorian scientist instead. I stayed up until 5 trying out a new lighting style, but it was VERY WORTH IT. Keep reading to see why I chose each character for Past, Present and Future.
PAST - Lanyon Jekyll has many regrets about the past, one of them being how his relationship with Lanyon ended. Not only that, but Lanyon is a source of insecurity for Jekyll, being a Perfect Gentleman™ in Jekyll's eyes. The candle on this spirit's head shines a light on this, but also slowly melts them away, leaving a featureless skull behind. The melting is both a reference to Jekyll's hallucinations in Ch 8, but also to Mind!Lanyon's blank face in Ch 12.
PRESENT - Frankenstein
Jekyll's Present haunts him as a visage of the Perfect Scientist™, one untainted by its past. Frankie is celebrated by the Lodgers, both for her great scientific achievements and unrestricted lifestyle. You can't help but be joyous when she shows up! But here, Present is also here to show that, despite all of the excitement around Frankenstein, the Lodgers would still do anything for Jekyll.
FUTURE - Jasper
Now, we currently don't know what Mind!Jasper looks like (as of Dec 22, 2024), so I had to take some creative liberties. Shrouded in the cloak that Jekyll once used to protect him, now a half-wolf, half-man, Future looks down on Jekyll with danger in its glowing red eyes.
Jasper represents the Perfect Leader™ for Jekyll - one who understands and pays attention to every single one of the Lodgers with no effort, who can rally them together when their different opinions drive them apart. If Jasper were to be the next leader of the Society... would any of them still care about Jekyll? And if they do, is he remembered with happiness... or hatred?

DAY 19: JAPAN
Goooodddd afternoon everyone- I swear we'll be back on schedule by tomorrow. But today we travel to Japan, the former home of one Miss Virginia Ito, and explore both winter garb, and winter/new years traditions of the country!
A notable article of clothing originating in Japan is the the Hanten, a traditional Japanese coat with padding, cotton lining, and a fitted collar, that was used to keep warm during the chillier months. It was originally work mainly by noblemen, but became popular among the masses from the 17th to 19th century. Quite a nice was to keep warm in those frigid months!
A Buddist tradition from Japan as well is the New Year's bell ringing, in which Buddhist temple bells would be rung from new years eve all the way through to new years day.
Visiting onsen (or hot springs) was extremely popular during the winter months as well, though mainly due to their delightful ability to stay hot and steamy all year round, which was a delightful way to warm up from the snow.
Example of a temple bell; these bells could be run up to 108 times in the span of 24 hours during this celebration
Example of a tradition Hanten. I've always been quite the fan of Japanese fiber art- because just LOOK AT IT

DAY 17: SNOWBALL FIGHT!
oh dear me I really do need to get back on schedule, but anyhow, I suppose this prompt isn't in need of much introduction!
I mean for goodness sake who DOESN'T love a good snowball fight?? Whether you could merely tossing a bit of packed snow at your friends, or go so far as to build forts and spy on enemy teams, this is a delightful activity that leaves everyone involved both freezing cold and laughing good and hard.
Lets see who you've decided will triumph against their opponents, and who will be getting a nice faceful of snow!

Um, hi!! Just realized there's a bunch of stuff I forgot to post from like, a couple of months ago, soooo, "updated" Mind Jekyll Ref(s)!!!
Little rundown just so it's here too:
A resident of Lanyon's mindscape, he's a sparkly amalgamation of Jekyll and Hyde. Wandering between the ballroom, halls, and his lab, he mainly dances, experiments, and charms. He has phantom pains all around his body, stemming from Lanyon's constant fear of Jekyll getting hurt (especially via potion mishaps), and has a limp in his left leg from recurring nightmares of Jekyll stepping in a bear trap on the faithful Bleeding Heart Night™.
Before Lanyon and Elias split, mind Jekyll looked far more like normal Jekyll and acted a bittt more awkward. however, after learning of Jekylls duality, mindkyll became a bit more Hyde like, his sideburns growing out, his hair growing messier, and gaining a hole filled cape and green hat, as well as gradient eyes. He hates his new appearance a decent bit, blaming Elias for it. However, he still certainly wasn't innocent before.
He spends most of his time in the ballroom, since Lanyon taught him how to act "proper" and he seemingly surpassed Lanyon at that, causing him to become a sort of icon to Lanyon in that sense. In the ballroom he's quite the charmer, going between the shadow people and playing them as he wishes, which stems from Lanyon's jealousy of how Jekyll acted (and still acts) with women at parties while they were together.
All in all, a lot of Mindkyll's character stems from Lanyon's twisted view of Jekyll after their breakup and when Lanyon was plagued with jealousy, and then of course a decent bit is Hyde's influence as well. He also holds a lot of Lanyon's "rebellious" stage, since he's still a part of Lanyon.
He also lets off sparkles as a sort of defense mechanism for when he feels threatened or starts getting impatient/aggravated. They have a somewhat calming effect, most of the time at least, made to distract people from his real intentions and feelings, or pose as a visit distraction so he can flee if need be. Occasionally, however, their impact/sway is dulled, like against Mind Everly. Eventually, Lanyon starts becoming more resistant to their sway, and after a certain future event, so does Elias.
On top of this, if you wanna read allll about Lanyon's mindscape (which I completely built, including rooms, mind people, nightmares, and other extra things) uhhhh there's a big post for it here!!! Including sketches of all the rooms, really cool big project of mine, so yea, it'd be really cool if you checked that out <3.

DAY 15/16??? SORRY FELLAS I GOT BUSY ANYWAYS: ROMANIA 🇷🇴
HEYYYYYYYY EVERYONE ITS BEEN A REALLY BUSY COUPLE OF DAYS AND SAFE TO SAY WE GOT
Romania is already a stunning country on its own, and come Christmas the entire country is filled with a certain air of festivity that would make the most sullen of men crack a smile.
The Romanians are a rich culture, though some of their traditions can be similarly seen practiced across the world. For example, it is custom to leave a clean pair of shoes out for Father Christmas, and in the morning (if the children have behaved themselves) they will find those shoes filled with fruits, and small toys! However if the child has been naughty (as I undoubtedly assume a certain brother of Rachel's always was) the child would then instead find a stick inside their shoe! Talk about a downgrade from coal.
Another delightful winter tradition is The Dance of the Bear. In this, men of the village dress themselves in very real bear hides, and dance accompanied by panflutes and singers from door to door, in order to ring in the new year! Although it sounds frighting, in reality these events are a delightful bit of fun!!
Costumes for The Dance of the Bear- mind the teeth!!

Haiiii hai hai :3 this is my piece for @ilovebeesandallthat 's tgs advent calendar event for the day Ice Skating!! Yall should participate if you can, it's really cool!
Are these both technically OCs from an AU (Sibling AU) of an AU (Lanyon Takes the Potion AU)? Yes, BUT I ASKED AND IT'S ALRIGHT SO SHHHHHH, I just need Elias and Kell to be soft and in love (also a post on Elias and one on Kell for this AU, if you want). If it helps, off frame Jekyll and Lanyon are probably both on their asses, covered in snow <3
This is probably the most rendering I've done for a piece ever, and one of the very few backgrounds I've done, but I think I did pretty good :33
Also, a close up on the sillies:
They're just so jejvkkskvosofl
Progress shots are below the cut <3

DAY 13: FIRST SNOW!
Nothing feels truly more magical than the first snow of the season, and it's always a delight to run out and play no matter how old you may be!!
As a personal opinion I have always said the first snow only counts when the flakes reach the ground and don't instantly melt, so that they truly cover the ground in that beautiful blanket of white.
It is a magical event for all, and it does wonders to awaken the inner child of every person willing. Lets see what you all make of it!!

The original said "biting" and I feel like if Mind Jekyll wasn't as gentlemanly and more tainted by Lanyon's idea of Hyde, he would bite Hastie for this 😔💔

DAY 11: SCOTLAND!! 🏴
Happy holidays from Scotland everyone!! Whether our dear Dr Jekyll acts it or not, at least part of his childhood was shaped by the delightful festivities of Scottish celebration, and who can blame him??
The celebrations of Scotland have their roots intrinsically entwined with that of Yule, and merrimaking is essential. Originally known as the 'daft days', the 12 days of Christmas in Scotland are ones of festive air, drinking, and celebration. Edinburgh has a particular tradition that carries on today, of firing off a cannon shot every day at 1'o clock leading up to the special day, and there are several types of tartan originating from Scotland that I'm sure many will recognize and decorative for the festive season.
Scotland was also particularly known for traditions of mistletoe (oooo little tie in there) and the Yule log!!
The Edinburgh cannon in question- yes, it is sat atop a castle
Nowadays we think of a yule log more as a scrumptious dessert, but rest assured way back when it was indeed and ACTUAL log, burned all 12 days of Yule and saved afterwards to light the new log the next year.

TGS Advent Day 11: He Finally Took Her To Scotland
After some troubles with doing my storyboard assignments first and then the file being too big for Tumblr, I can now showcase my participation for the TGS Advent Calendar by @ilovebeesandallthat! And what better way to do that than to draw Jekyll and Anne-Marie visiting Scotland! Here we have the Isle of Skye, a famous landmark in Scotland that is a huge hotspot for visitors in the modern day! It has beautiful mountain ranges, dramatic cliffs, and a great hiking spot! A perfect place for Anne-Marie and Jekyll to explore!
Fun fact; one of things that brought Jekyll and Annie close together was his decision to sing her Scottish ballads after she said his taste in music was awful in their first meeting. The girl fell in love and the rest was history.
Anne-Marie was always curious about her dad’s Scottish origins. Sure, she knows all the songs but she loves hearing her Dad talk in his Scottish accent. She’s actually asked him if he could teach her Scots but it didn’t happen. One because Jekyll knows she’ll use her knowledge for evil and two, he’s still going through the British repression of hiding his immigrant status. But I like to think one day, when Jekyll is comfortable enough with himself, he’ll take his daughter to Scotland.
