[ID: Artwork mainly featuring Serizawa Katsuya and Reigen Arataka from Mob Psycho 100. The first is a doodle of Reigen and Serizawa sorting through papers, with Serizawa's head resting on Reigen's lap while he cards his fingers through his curls. Next is a drawing of them middle-aged, Serizawa now 50 with a ponytail, purple suit, and a bit more facial hair, and Reigen, now 48, has a prominent grey hair streak, less hair, and a yellow tie. Following that is a page with Reigen and Serizawa drawn over the two guys on a bus meme, but the two guys are facing the sunny window and holding each other. This is labeled as "serirei angst fics (with happy ending)". Below is a short comic with Reigen and Serizawa at a bar, with Reigen, after having one drink, saying, "Just wanted to say I have a crush on you bad. Been feeling this for montgs now and I think it's time I told you about my feelings fr". Serizawa, in shy awe, responds with, "oh... Wait who's that other guy?", to which Reigen clarifies, "Oh he's here for moral support", panning to Shinra also at the bar. Dimple floats above him saying, "LMFAOOOOO be so fr rn" as Shinra says, "I'm here for you. Do yo thing". This is labeled as serirei Reigen-gets-drunk fics. Final drawing is a comic with Serizawa and Reigen eating at a table, and as Serizawa notices Reigen wearing his Season 2 hanten, says, "Oh hey! You found my old hanten!" to which Reigen responds, "Yeah, dug it out of some boxes from under the bed". Serizawa, extending a hand, says, "I was wondering where that went! Give it here, I'll go ahead and get rid of it. No use having it take up space since I no longer-" then pauses what he's saying as he sees Reigen clutch the hanten in a death grip and stare at him with a scary aura. Eventually, Serizawa sheepishly looks away and amends, "O-or... we could just... keep it..." to which Reigen exclaims, "GREAT idea 'Tsuya!". End ID]

MP100 WONDERLAND AU!!!
I will probably never write a real fic for this, so I'm gonna explain the general plot and ideas and lore and stuff as a way to introduce each character. Or you can just not read and look at the designs instead
Ritsu is our Alice,
and Sho is the rabbit he chases after. Unlike the white rabbit, Sho isn't anxious - he's mischievous more than anything. While he IS trying to be on time to the Queen's croquet game at first, teasing Ritsu as he fails to catch up with him becomes his main priority.
Tome and Goda (do people in this fandom call him musashi or goda?? i have never seen anyone talk about him) are the first characters Ritsu meets. They play the roles of the mouse and the dodo from the book. After the whole pool of tears thing - I'm assuming you know the general story of Alice in Wonderland - Tome infodumps at everyone, much like the mouse does in the book. Goda is basically like "that's BORING we should EXERCISE the water off of us" and then the caucus race happens!!
The scene where Alice gets stuck in the Rabbit's house does happen but I have no character assigned to Bill so I didn't draw anyone for this.
Next stop is the caterpillar!! Played by Dimple. He's the ghost of a caterpillar that looked forward to becoming a butterfly, but died before reaching the chrysalis stage, and has since become a little crazed about the butterfly idea. He finds Ritsu kind of annoying but keeps talking to him because he enjoys the attention.
Mezato is the Cheshire cat! Psycho Helmet is not a thing in Wonderland so her time is more devoted to being mysterious and cryptic and taking photos of people and things. Plays the cheshire cat role pretty straight.
And now! The moment everyone's been waiting for! The three characters that people usually care the most about in aiw AND mp100.
Reigen started the hat business with his good pals Serizawa and Mob and then went a little bonkers. The Queen sentenced him and his coworkers/friends to eternal teatime for being annoying basically. (There IS lore there, but aiw is my special interest and i could talk about that forever.) He's still very Reigen-y but always a little on edge. Basically, think about Reigen's most high-energy yet pathetic little meow meow moments, it's just that.
Serizawa is just like - imagine you teleported Serizawa into the March Hare's place without warning and he just had to figure out what to do about it. That's not what happened, but that's basically how he behaves.
Mob is the dormouse, but like the book version of the dormouse, he gets his time in the spotlight. (anyone out there know about the three girls in the well?? no? just me?) Because this is Ritsu's dream, nobody needs to wonder whether mousemob is humanritsu's brother. Just don't worry about it
Finally, we have Teru as the Queen of Hearts. His personality definitely matches his pre/during-that-fight-with-mob self. Violent, self-absorbed fashion disaster. Sho, being his messenger, has a very "siblings who kind of hate each other" dynamic with this Teru, in my eyes.
That's it!! If anyone wants to write or draw a wonderland au based on this casting, that's totally fine because I in no way own the idea of a wonderland au. That's like, the most basic "what if this media was actually this other story?" au concept.

Mickbell & co Mob Psycho AU

Day 40 of being ipadless I KNOW these pictures all look like ass and I am sorry. I could not miss 2/22 aka Mickbell's birthday though!! I'd like to draw more for this eventually digitally, poppin' colors and all à la classic mp100
Ok so my friend kept confusing my Mickbell plush for Reigen which (being funny aside) did get me thinking on how they're kinda pretty similar. And thus the idea bloomed...... He's also pretty Dimple but that's neither here nor there. Conman jack of all trades Spirits & Such Consultation Office Mickbell!!! Kuro is pretty Serizawa coded so that was my first thought but then it dawned on me that Mob-Kuro would be so funny. In classic 22 yo Mickbell & 18 yo Kuro who thinks he's his keeper fashion Kuro grows some sense of duty to keep Mick from getting killed, "I do this bc I have to protect mister Tomas <:[ look at him…… he would be defenseless if I wasn't here… poor guy…"- Also though Mob-Reigen and Mickbell-Kuro's first meeting are surprisingly alike in that Kuro/Mob saw in their meeting depth and some emotional connection meanwhile Reigen/Kuro only decided to allow them hanging around when they showed they'd be useful.
I wanted Rin to be an associate of sorts because I love my trio. I do quite enjoy business competitors mickrin so that's what I ended up leaning into. Rin's less flashy business right next door of traditional medicine and spiritual healing, she has very weak psychic powers too but her skills with spirits mostly lay in herbal effects like sage and warding rooms etc etc. All the remedies she knows is her family legacy. Does she have a parmacist license or training? No. Does her stuff still work? Yes. She ends up having a Banshomaru sort of role & dynamic Conman Mickbell vs spiritual pharmacist Rin <3 They end up teaming up all the time since Rin gets less customers but she's more competent with most spirit issues. Competent healer with no sense of marketing x charismatic silver tongue with questionable skill. This is a Mickbell slander AU (I love him). They're lowkey each other's favorite coworker in canon but they're also the hater duo and I can turn anything into worsties
Bonus, Mithrun-Dimple and Kabru-Mezato, sort of. At first I thought Ritsu for Kabru but thinking about roles a journalist type thing came naturally

#dungeon meshi#mp100 au#mickbell tomas#mickrin#rinsha fana#kuro dm#making mickbell grin is my favorite hobby <3#i'm still on my kurokabu bs with this au gdhndg. idk if kuro is in college or what here but that's what I like to think#Idk what Laios & the gang is doing sorry. Small (?) rant about Mob Psycho 100 and autism, because it's something I feel strongly about.
I just want to say before I say anything, this is just how I see MP100 in my personal view as an autistic person, and my experiences as an autistic person. So this is (obviously) very opinion based, something to keep in mind while reading.
I am someone with autism who, for the most part, used to feel a strong resentment towards myself being autistic. I was not diagnosed until my early high school years, so I just thought I was weird. No one really, ever, liked me in school at all, mostly because I kept to myself and aspired not to draw attention to myself. When watching MP100 a month or two ago, I could find myself really attached to the characters experiences. In my opinion, the psychic powers or telepathy is representative of a neurodiversity. This shows in how each person with ESP has powers which are different from eachother.

With Serizawa, it was the character in my first watch of MP100 that drew me in. He is a esper who found himself scared of how his powers would affect other people, especially people he loves like his Mother. Serizawa found himself staying inside and indulging in his interests all day. Even going as far as to never leave his room, because it's hinted at that he'd have breakdowns when leaving - finding his room to be his only safe place. Though he was easily manipulated into leaving his room by someone stronger than him, causing Serizawa to use an umbrella as sort of a comfort item. It's shown that he'd get extremely anxious without his umbrella during his initial 'fight' with Mob after he had it briefly knocked away from him.
Relating Serizawa's behaviors to my own experiences made me feel a lot more connected to the show in general. A lot of the time before being diagnosed, I knew a lot of people with autism, and a lot of these people were low functioning. In these people, I saw my own behaviors and, by how my friends at the time reacted to those behaviors, I'd associated them with negative things. Often times, so no one would see me exhibit these behaviors, I would keep myself in my room all day. Only leaving when absolutely necessary. Whenever someone would enter my room unannounced, and this is something I still somewhat do, I would make sure to put away anything I was doing as quickly as possible. Now going onto Serizawa's umbrella, when I first got diagnosed, I was using a similar thing when at school to help me focus. I would have to have a specific pair of fingerless gloves, or I wouldn't be able to focus. I got in trouble for this numerous times and no one ever defended me, eventually someone in my house threw them away without my knowledge. Serizawa as a character, in relation to my autism, I can see my own breakdowns and how they affect me in Serizawa's.

Mob is probably the most obvious character to discuss in relation to autism in MP100, and this is exhibited in the fandom beliefs of other autistic people as well. While describing Mob, I am going to seperate Mob from '???', because I feel that the '???' state can be used as a separate example for neurodiversity in this topic.
Shigeo as a character is presented as gullible, in this way you can see a similarity to Serizawa in vulnerability. Multiple times throughout MP100, Mob gets swindled by people; Reigen tricks him into thinking that he's a psychic (like Mob himself), the telepathy club -attempt- to convince him to join the club through multiple means, a girl tricks him into thinking that she has a crush on him (which he rejects), at one point - multiple people convince him that he's popular, a group of guys convince him that they're a girl writing a love note to him, e.t.c... I could go on and on. Due to Reigen, Mob is taught that he is to never use psychic powers against other people, a good message in itself: don't inflict violence against others. But this results in Mob bottling up all emotions (or times he could've used his psychic powers against others) causing his '100%' bar to steadily rise - always ending in some sort of emotional breakdown. Sometimes he acts in violence, but I think some of the easier to resonate with scenes are when he starts having an emotional overflow. For example, at the end of the first Teruki Hanazawa fight, Mob is not longer in the post 100% state and regrets using his powers against someone else: ending in him simply sobbing.
The way Mob shows a lack of emotions throughout the earlier sectors of the series is reminiscent of how I would behave. Mostly throughout my life, I would not start confrontations or show strong emotions. But whenever I would get overwhelmed or overstimulated, I would become easily violent and, like Mob, found myself unavailable to process what I was saying until it had already came out my mouth. I would only regret it much later, but even if I did regret it, I wouldn't let anyone know I did and the cycle would repeat.

To wrap up this post, I'm not saying that every character who is an esper has specifically autism. Some characters without ESP remind me of myself in elements like Reigen or Shinji Kamuro and there's some characters with ESP where I cannot relate any personal experiences with autism with, such as characters like Miyagawa in claw. MP100, as a show and manga, helped me realize that it doesn't really matter that I have autism. It's just kind of that thing that's just there and, yeah, it affects my life in important ways, but it also can have positive effects in some places. Like being able to survive down and write this post with the amount of dedication I had, because it's something I feel strongly about.
I fully welcome anyone to add on anything in relation to MP100 and neurodiversity, I would very much like to expand my opinions and hear other people's experiences with autism and parallels they can see.

We got to the Onsen episode! My fiance liked it a lot. I also have some rambling thoughts. Continuing my (sorta consistent but not really) ramblings after I rewatch episodes.
Okay one, I did like Serizawa on the first watch (but was more indifferent tbh) but this time around, with all the serirei that I have osmosised through just being here on tumblr, ya know. I get it now guys. I get it.
Look at that face.
He be cute.
Also I forgot how much I love Shigeo's outfit, it's so cute! His fuzzy earmuffs are the best. I need to draw this. And as of editing this draft I have!!
(and I love how dorky Ritsu is, the outfits in this episode were such great little additions to their characters. I really liked Reigen's too! This is where we first see the trench coat!)
Second, my terumob senses were tingling through this whole thing. Teru asking Mob whether he has a crush is still comes out of nowhere even though I was expecting it. Like even if this ship didn't give me happy feels, Teru is clearly trying to make Mob uncomfortable. Mehaps it is....a bit...
Flirty?
and his laugh my god Teru you're as subtle as a spotlight.
And the scene where they all are in the hot springs was...unusually...tense? Haha Like I don't remember that and now I'm like "Oh......OH"
I know the joke and tension was supposed to be “Does Teru have a wig anymore?" but I was just over here giggling about other things. Having a great time. Mobs face here. Just me kicking up my feet in happiness over these awkward dorks.
Also Reigen losing his mind *chef kiss* always a delight. Tried to find a gif from the episode and I am not finding one I like.
Anyway, byeeee we start season 3 next and I think my heart is going to explode.

I just saw a bunch of really gross stuff pop up on my tumblr untagged and I’m kinda breaking down do you have any cute funny Reigen and/or Serizawa thoughts plz
ʚ。゚☁︎。ɞ。 oh god friend i'm so sorry :( i am so sorry that happened to you, i hope you were able to recover and do something nice for yourself!!! it would be my honor to provide cute and funny thoughts <3

giving serizawa cute note kisses and then pecking him all over his cheeks, telling him he's the cutest in the world and he gets so bashful. almost as if he's never heard that about him before you.
dressed to the nines with serizawa, him in a black suit and you hooked on his arm. motioning for him to come close when you're in public, only for you to whisper, "you look so good tonight, katsuya." and he just gets the biggest smile.
cozying up to serizawa, both of you sharing an oversized blanket while he plays the new video game you got him. you didn't think he'd stay up all night playing (your first mistake) but you refused to leave his side the entire time, even passing out on his lap and getting the best rest of your night.
serizawa introducing you to serimama (HAHAHA) and she just LOVES you. IMMEDIATELY takes you in as her own, so so happy someone loves her son as much as she does and cries the sweetest happy tears when she sees you two affectionate with each other.

holding hands under the table with reigen before you two go public <3 his thumb drawing tender circles around the top of your hand every now and then.
being the one to take reigen's headshots in the future but you can't get much done because you're gushing every time and so his face just gets progressively redder and redder. AHA
inviting reigen to meet your friends and you spend the entire time gassing him up. "he has a consultation business and he's AMAZING at what he does! honey, where are you business cards? everyone needs one!" and when you step out to go to the bathroom or whatever, your friends look at reigen with so much joy in their eyes when they say, "you two are perfect for each other."
"i wanna be the big spoon this time." you tell reigen pouting and he lets you, but he never realized he would enjoy it so much. <3 he goes right to sleep.

I've talked about MechaGodzilla in the past, but with a franchise as old and long as Godzilla's, it's inevitable that the character has changed over the years. He's gone from a tool of conquest to a defender of humanity to a raging mech turned against its masters.
But if I had to highlight my favorite iteration of the character, I have to go with the Millenium version that debuted in Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla and appeared one last time in Godzilla: Tokyo SOS. Aside from having arguably the coolest design, this MechaGodzilla (also known as Kiryu), actually does have something that the others don't: he has a character arc and isn't either a threat to be conquered or a tank.
The only problem with Kiryu is that talking about him runs the risk of sounding like a mad man. So disclaimer: everything down below is real. I am NOT making this stuff up. At all.
So our story starts in 1954 with the original Godzilla.
By now you should know the story. Baptized in the fires of the hydrogen bomb, the original Godzilla went on a rampage in Tokyo and completely leveled the city, killing countless. He was only stopped when the brilliant scientist Dr. Serizawa reduced him to a skeleton with the Oxygen Destroyer. Anyone who's familiar with Godzilla lore knows the story.
Well, in the continuity of the Kiryu duology, that skeleton becomes extremely important.
When a second Godzilla appears in 1999, the Japanese government knows they did some kind of superweapon to defend themselves (especially since conventional weaponry won't do jack). Taking a page out of Pacific Rim's book, they decide their best chance is a gigantic mech to fight the monster. But even then, Godzilla's vicious enough that even a conventional robot might not enough.
And here's where things get...interesting.
Thanks to recent developments in robotics and bioengineering, they're able to use the bones of the original Godzilla to build MechaGodzilla. The reason being that a robot that uses organic DNA will be able to react faster than a completely automated one. Plus, thanks to those aforementioned advancements, Kiryu would be able to fight as effectively and viciously as when it was Godzilla while remaining under the JDSF's control. Think of it more as a cyborg than a true robot.
So to reiterate, they built a mech out of the bones of the original Godzilla. It's also able to fight just as well as its organic counterpart. Something like an EVA from Evangelion.
...everyone still with me? Good. Cause it gets stranger.
Kiryu does turn out to be as good of a fighter as they needed. While he isn't as powerful as some of his other iterations, he's able to fight the new Godzilla on equal footing. He's able to fight Godzilla to a draw in the first film inflicting grievous wounds and even defeated him in the second with the help of Mothra.
There's just one problem. Remember how I said Kiryu was a cyborg brought to life by the original bones of Godzilla?
During his first scuffle with Godzilla...Kiryu remembered who he was when he heard Godzilla's roar. And when a monster realizes he's been brought back to life by those that gave him painful mutations, turned him into a living weapon, and made to fight one of his own...
He goes berserk.
Yeah, once the reality of Kiryu's state comes to mind, there's some serious questions on whether or not creating him was a good idea in the first place. For one, how exactly can anybody rely on a machine that thinks like a monster? For another, what are the moral implications of even creating such a thing and forcing him to fight what is essentially another of his kind? Or even bringing him back to life and thus playing God? These are actually given a ton of weight in the film as the ethical lines behind Kiryu's creation are blurred. Especially when MechaGodzilla being brought online is what's triggering Godzilla's rampages in the first place.
But the interesting thing here is Kiryu himself. There's a lot of hints that he's a lot more self-aware and in control than most people give him credit for. For one, he seems to have an affinity for his first pilot Akane and one of his technicians, Yoshido. His eyes almost seem to glow when Akane is in danger and flat out says farewell to Yoshido on a computer in Tokyo SOS. The implications are that he seems to sympathize with Akane's feelings of worthlessness and appreciates Yoshido treating him like he was an actual being despite essentially being a robot.
And then there's his relationship with Godzilla. Thing is...he doesn't want to fight one of his own. While he runs out of power in the first film before he can kill Godzilla, Akane speculates that Kiryu genuinely didn't want to fight anymore. While he'll certainly fight Godzilla to stop the monster's rampage (all the more impressive since this is technically the original Godzilla we're talking about), killing him is another matter entirely. Which creates a bit of conflict since his purpose is to kill Godzilla.
And he gets his chance in Tokyo SOS when he grievously wounds Godzilla...but then stops dead in his tracks when his "brother/son" cries out in pain. He then lets the Mothra Larvae to wrap Godzilla in silk and effectively bring the exhausted dinosaur to the earth, giving him an opportunity to finish the job. Hell, the pilots and mission control are basically ordering Godzilla's execution at this point.
Instead...he doesn't.
He gives off a roar that sounds like the original Godzilla, disobeys every command to finish the fight, and gently embraces his organic counterpart before taking them both out to sea where no one can reach them. Godzilla is able to live, and Kiryu (and by extension the original Godzilla) is finally able to rest in peace.
This is why this version of MechaGodzilla is my favorite. His whole arc to me was about choosing for himself and wrangling with his relationship to both mankind and Godzilla. About whether he should kill his own or let innocents get hurt. Or even just learning to move on past his grudge against people. Those are things you don't typically associate with kaiju movies. Cause in the end, Kiryu isn't just another mech or monster. He's got character to him as well. Something I think the Godzilla movies do well.

Gates to Heck Chapter 2
It’s a little on the short side, but I’m happy to be able to post Chapter 2 for Teru’s birthday.
This story is a follow-up to the omake "Teaching Mob Basketball > Anti-terrorism", in which Teru does a vigilante-justice speedrun so he can teach Mob how to dribble.
"Spirits and Such Consultation, this is the greatest psychic of the 21st Century, Reigen Arataka, speaking."
"Shishou-"
"Oh, Mob." Reigen dropped the voice. "I thought you were learning how to dribble today. What's the-"
"Shishou, I need your help."
"I already told you, I don't play the ball sports." Reigen heard a suppressed sound from the kitchenette. As if Serizawa had room to snort. The only sport he played was Wii Golf.
"It's Hanazawa-kun. He's- He's hurt."
"How badly hurt are we talking?" Reigen closed the lid of his laptop. "Do you need an ambulance?"
"I don't think so? He came to basketball practice, but then he fainted. I think his head is hurt, and also his arm, but it's not just the injuries. It's everything."
"Everything?"
Serizawa appeared in the kitchenette doorway, looking for all the world like a concerned housewife with his dishwashing gloves and furrowed brow.
"When I asked how he got hurt, he laughed so hard he passed out again. Well, I did ask if he was forming another gang, which may have been rude, now that I consider it. He wouldn't-
"Wait a second," said Reigen, waving a hand even though only Serizawa was there to see him. "Middle schools have gangs?"
"Yes," said Mob. "Hanazawa-kun was the urabanchou at Black Vinegar."
"Middle school gangs have shadow leaders?" When Reigen was fourteen, he was eating cup noodles and drawing Sailor Moon doujinshi like it was a full-time job.
"Yes, but- but that doesn't matter, Shishou. He's acting tired, like he did before, and he's gotten thin again. He must weigh less than…" Mob gave a small grunt. "50 kilograms."
"Did- Did you just pick him up?"
"Well, that's how much I can lift in my club." Mob's voice had the barest hint of defensiveness.
"Really? Wow."
"Just the deadlift."
"I know what that means," said Reigen. He started playing with a stress toy on his desk. Mob's friend, Kurata-chan, had gotten it for him last month, no doubt as some sort of joke, but squeezing the little alien until its eyes popped was strangely satisfying.
If Hanazawa had lost that much weight, it must have been more than a schoolyard fight. It had to be a chronic issue, like bullying, or even abuse.
Reigen swallowed hard. "His parents still overseas?"
"Yes," said Mob. "They have been since he was nine. He doesn't have anyone to take care of him." The kid was never what you would call expressive, but there was a note in his voice that Reigen could only describe as panic. "Shishou, I think he has a concussion, and I don't know what to do."
Reigen was already patting his pockets: wallets, keys, business cards, salt. "Right. I'll be there as soon as I can swing by a pharmacy."
"He doesn't need first aid supplies," said Mob, his voice going strangely grave.
"Okay?"
"Oh, actually, he's running low on cooling patches. I think he has a Failure Fever too."
"Failure… fever?" Reigen grabbed some cooling patches from the office first aid kit and waved a quick goodbye to Serizawa, whose forehead was more furrowed than ever. Reigen had to resist the sudden impulse to smooth it down with his thumb.
"Hanazawa-kun gets a fever whenever he loses something."
Reigen hailed the first cab he saw. "Let me get this straight. You're telling me he has a psychosomatic reaction to losing fights? With middle school gangs?"
He fumbled with his wallet for the paper containing Hanazawa's address, which he'd kept tucked away ever since their final confrontation with Claw.
"No, I think it was mostly with Claw."
For a moment, Reigen thought he had misheard, somehow conflating Mob's words with his own thoughts.
"Claw- They- Mob, do you mean they went after him before they took Otouto-kun?"
"He was nine the first time they went after him," said Mob.
Reigen kept moving on autopilot, sliding into the cab's backseat and shoving the paper into the driver's hands. He didn't bother to cover the mouthpiece when he said, "Sorry, sick kid."
The driver nodded, tapping a Polaroid taped to the dash. The cab pulled into traffic and Reigen returned to his conversation with Mob.
"The same age he was when his parents left?" he asked, because that was easier than thinking about psychic terrorists targeting a literal child for five years.
Mob made a noise of assent. "He said it was safer that way."
"…Safer?"
"I didn't understand at first either, but I think he meant safer for them."
Reigen did cover the mouthpiece this time. At least the cab driver didn't seem to mind all the swearing.

Now that Messa my beloved tumblr sexyman is out
Can you give us what you believe is going to happen with Cherish?
As in like what type of character do you think he's going to be what type of damage, what personality traits, how you think he'll interact with wonder and friends all that jazz
And things like what type of weapons he'll use
just your personal theory/what you'd like to see from Cherish since it'll probably be awhile until we get more on him
(sorry for the longer question)
Haha, well, we really don't have much to go off of! I'm assuming you're asking about the new teammate coming in 2.3.2, who's suspected to be Cherish, but we don't know for sure yet?
If the upcoming teammate is Cherish, then we know he's an Ice type Defense teammate, much like Soy, although probably more powerful, since he's a 5-star. I'm expecting him to have more medieval/historical weapons, given his appearance? But who really knows, haha. He just seems to have a sort of knight/paladin vibe to me, so I'm making vague guesses based on that.
We only have two Defense teammates right now (Soy and Yuki), so I'm really curious to see how he'll work. Soy boosts the max health of his teammates and draws enemy fire, while Yuki gives shields to the team, but I have no idea if Cherish will operate similarly to one of them, or do something completely new. I'm trying to think of what new things he could even do; buffing dodge chance, maybe...? Or lowering enemy accuracy or damage...? Helping cover the weaknesses of teammates...?
The most interesting thing if Cherish is the new ice teammate is the implications. The announcement described the new ice teammate as “What kind of different story will this elegant and generous senior have?”, which doesn't match with what we previously knew about Cherish, which is that he's supposed to be the character that appears in Kiyoshi's Confidant (and a first year, like Kiyoshi). If the new ice teammate is Cherish, it means that they repurposed the character, and Cherish is no longer Kiyoshi's friend Take-kun.
Which would be a bit of a shame, but not a complete surprise, since it sounds like the Chinese fandom has complained about Confidants focusing on the character's relationship with another character (and not just Wonder), as is the case with Yaoling and Yukimi, Kayo and Reo, Tomoko and Kotone, etc. and the developers have been moving away from doing that. If they no longer wanted Kiyoshi's Confidant to focus on his relationship with Take-kun as much, it makes sense to repurpose Take-kun's model into a different character entirely.
(Not to get slightly off-topic, but that does then have concerning implications for whether Narumi Nashimoto (from Merope's Confidant), Tamayo Yoshida (from Motoha's Confidant), and Takumi Serizawa (from Shun's Confidant) will ever become Phantom Idols, though it's really hard to say for sure when things are this flexible.)
From such a little snippet of information about Cherish in the post, it's really hard for me to speculate what he might be like, but I do wonder about the word "generous". What's he generous with? Money would be the obvious one, but it could also be his time (helping people), or some kind of item (food, school supplies, etc.?), or it could even be a misleading mistranslation courtesy of Google Translate, haha. I suspect his Confidant might revolve around why he's generous, though, and/or the potential drawbacks of generosity. But that's a bit of a shot in the dark, when we literally have one sentence to base this off of!
Of course, it's also possible that the new ice teammate isn't Cherish, since they only used a real world name for the character, and didn't give the codename yet. In that case, it could be Lume instead, since that codename has been sitting in the files for a bit, or someone new entirely. If it isn't Cherish, that basically overwrites everything I just said about the implications for other characters, haha. But it also means I have virtually nothing to go off of, other than the speculation about what kind of abilities he might have that I did earlier, and my guessing about what "generous" might mean here, so I don't have much else to add.
I hope that's at least sort of the response you were hoping for, though, anon!

Suzume is my favorite film from Makoto Shikai (with YN. As a very close second) and I just rewatched it cuz it's a feel good movie for me
And it was my first time watching it in English dub
And I thought it was very interesting that in the dub that Tamaki and Okabe actually seem like they're dating , or at least that she is responsive to his advances
And I say this is interesting because after watching it subbed in theatres the first time, it was a point of conversation between me and my friends whether she was absolutely oblivious to his advances or was just not interested
I actually disliked Okabe a lot because I interpreted him as continuously attempting to pursue Tamaki while she has shown him many times she's not interested (but possible not been direct because she is too busy for work place drama that might cause)
It's still stated in the dub multiple times that she's single, and I still ship her with Serizawa.
Partially because I genuinely think they have good chemistry. Also because I think it's cute that she and her niece both came back from their impromptu vacation (aka saving japan/the world???) With college boyfriends.
Anyway I really wanna draw Daijin again. But I always get so into the movie I can't even sketch during it.
#suzume (2022)#suzume's locking up#suzume no tojimari#ive never dipped my toes into the community of a potential fandom since ya know. the age gap#i love age gap romance so idgaf but haha#anyway uh#word vomit

one thing i keep thinking about the more i get out of my isolation and actually start doing things is the fact that i actually like want to have hobbies now. like for fun. before i didn't really do much other than draw, write, watch youtube videos, play video games and scroll through social media. i didn't really do much of anything. now that i have a job and i actually am living my life now, i want to actually have hobbies and it's probably related to wanting to better myself and like get better and move on from the horrible 9 years i spent my life, but like it's genuinely weird to me. i want to have hobbies. i don't always have the energy for them, but i want to do things now. amazing, how having control over your life and doing the things that make you happy and being able to get out of the house like makes you want to be alive and stuff.
like, you know how during covid people started doing things like baking and spending time with their families and all that jazz for like a couple of weeks or months, and then after that everyone started going crazy with isolation and fear and mental health problems? it was like that but stretched over 9 years where at first i wanted to do things, and then i got stuck for several years until towards the end when i was finally allowed to get a job. lol. and even almost 2 years in i still feel like i'm still 'settling' into it, but like i'm getting to the point where i actually want to do things with my life and i want to figure out how to put the things i want to do with my life into my life every once in a while.
and one thing about my insane trauma is that it has made me completely and utterly normal about serizawa katsuya from mob psycho, like jesus christ. there has not been a person normaler about this man than me. i know exactly how he feels about most things and nobody talks about how the isolation affects you and how you become after that many years out of contact with most people and not doing anything. this is the only character that i have ever seen in my entire existence on the internet that has this kind of experience that i also had. having a relatively normal life (don't ask me to define normal), then all of it implodes and suddenly things are different for many years and you don't leave the house or talk to people or do anything. ever. for a long, long time.
and then you come out of it and you're in the same town you grew up in but things are different now and you're a weirdo that nobody remembers because you didn't really leave the house for 9 years, but people at your job are nice to you and treat you mostly normal anyway which is nice.
i don't even know what's gotten into me tonight, i'm just like all over the place and i feel insane and i just feel like publicly journaling about it instead of not journaling about it privately. i haven't journaled about anything properly in months, but it's fine because i'm doing it now i guess.
anyways. tldr, forget reigen. serizawa is my babygirl. i do not have any trauma and i'm very fine and normal.

GODZILLA MOVIE MARATHON: Godzilla (1954)
Having been hyped up by the Godzilla X Kong teaser, I thought it was a good time to refresh my memory on ol' Goji and rewatch his movies.
All 37 of them.
Anyways, you gotta start at the beginning...
The original Godzilla is a masterpiece, it's one of those movies that you can talk about for hours and never cover all of it. It's an atomic monster B-movie. It's a reflection of the horrors of the atomic bomb. It's a revenge story. It's about Japan losing its identity.
It's just a fantastic movie, that's what it is. It reminds me a lot of Jaws, not only in the suspense and thriller elements, but that the meat of what makes the movie such a great watch is the characters. No other movie in the franchise comes close.
I really love the movie's relationship with scientists. Unlike most Sci-Fi about man-made monsters, none of the blame is put on the scientists. The movie asks you to sympathize with them. Serizawa is an Oppenheimer type character, someone disturbed by their own creation. Which is absolutely wild if you think about it. A movie made only a few years after a bomb killed thousands asking the audience to sympathize with the people who made the weapon. The movie is very anti-nuke, but it's not anti-science, it's basically a plea to use the power right.
Of course that's not all of it, Godzilla himself is the main draw, and the destruction he wages is brutal. The buildings being crushed aren't for fun, it's sad, we watch people die. Godzilla is a horror monster here, yet he's also sympathetic just like the scientists. He was hurt by the bomb too, he's only here destroying the city because humans destroyed his home, again the movie is showing you horrible things and asking you to relate. There are no bad guys, just an awful situation that we're just stuck in with no easy way out, it's topical.
Whether you watch it for the kaiju action, the historical commentary on the real world of 1950s Japan, or out of obligation for it being the first kaiju film, there's no doubt that this is the best of the best. My favorite movie in the franchise, easy 10/10.

To @novafirst1 who's been leaving so many funny and thoughtful tags on my old End of the World art (waving back at you - yes I see and appreciate you, thank you so much), I saw you were wondering about some things regarding the fic's development and whether my drawings still fit in or not, and I thought maybe I should officially clear that up or whatever, because I don't think I ever have?
So, some things to keep in mind about my drawings:
1) I almost always draw scenes while I'm drafting them, not after they're done, so often they diverge from what ends up in the fic. This is especially true of anything from chapter 21 and forward. The story takes a big turn around there and it's where I started fucking big things up in my old, old first draft. Sometimes I feel like deleting some of the art that has nothing to do with what actually happens in the fic anymore, but I also have a lifelong policy of never deleting anything, so…
2) My OC Ren was written out of the story a long time ago because she was introduced way too late in the story and her role could be redistributed between other characters, mainly Serizawa. I still love Ren, though. I've stored her away in a little corner of my mind, hoping some day she'll be of use in a different story.
3) Shimazaki was also written out of the story quite long ago. I honestly don't remember what his deal was that well because every time I change something in this fic, the old version is immediately purged from my mind so I don't confuse myself too much. Ehh, he kind of had the role Iida has now, except not really? Like, the end purpose of that role was similar, but his methods and motivations were wildly different (and more uninteresting) and it was executed in a way where it forced other characters into situations instead of letting them decide to go there on their own, taking too much of their agency away. It didn't work well, so I axed him. I don't miss him. Well, okay, I had one scene where he dumped Shou in the middle of a desert, I kinda miss that one, but apart from that, don't miss him.
4) I don't know if this is very apparent from just my art, but several of my OCs/might-as-well-be-OCs (like Shou's mom or Fukuda, Higashio, and Ootsuki) have been tweaked quite a bit along the way. For example, speaking of Iida, he started out as some random Claw henchman, and now he's one of the most central characters to the main plot line. Whoops? Satsune and Himiko's personalities drifted from what I originally expected from them, affecting their actions in the story. I've recently made some huge changes/additions to Higashio's scenes because I felt like you didn't get to know him well enough. I know I'll have to do the same for Ootsuki. The list goes on...
5) Bottom line: Everything is fluid! Sometimes I draw stuff and then change my mind with reckless abandon the next day. Nothing is real until it's on AO3
#never underestimate how nice and motivating your comments are#comments and tags always makes me really happy and mean a lot to me - like why share something if I don't hear what people think about it?#(I'm reminded I've neglected replying to AO3 comments again whoops)#also I think it's so funny that I've basically created an environment for myself where I could probably draw a blatant spoiler-#-and it'd be so hard to tell where it fit in or if it's even likely to happen that it ultimately wouldn't spoil anything#like I'm not gonna do that but I bet I could get away with it#I have a lifetime of experience being vague about longform story projects#the end of the world as you know it#my writing

(This is a crosspost from my Patreon. To see the rest of the free, accompanying art dump, click here.)
**********************************************************
Yes, this is technically my second End of Year Review post, as my first was back in 2022! If my posting records have anything to show for it, it's clear that in 2023 I ended up engulfed in research and pushing for yet a few more collaborative projects until daylight hours grew shorter. At that point, mustering the energy for EOYR2023 was not in the cards for me, but there is nothing stopping me from returning to that time and speaking on last year as well.
This post aims to summarize both 2023 & 2024 in review, where I again address my progress in various aspects of both project development and personal development.
Massive dump incoming:
Project Summary
Art 2023
The focus was art concepts and game assets for a handful of collaborative visual novel projects, but not nearly as many as the year prior. Just as in 2022, I did not feel the desire to draw for myself when compared to the sense of obligation I had to deliver in other projects... until the middle of the year, when it returned! Arguably! But it seems the desire did not convert into much action until the year after.
In 2023, I made...
Dynamic character sprites and reference sheets for Hello, Counsel by Miseri
Promotional art and logo designs for The Beauty Which Only Beast Knows demo by PumpkinSpike and Akua Kourain
Cover art for The Plaza: A Horror Anthology by Allie Vera
A few commissions for private clients
Fan sketches of Dr. Serizawa from Godzilla, tee hee
Art 2024
Reinvigorated and renewed in the new year, I was running out the gate with new style studies to challenge me. I had set a goal to draw one full-color illustrated piece a month, with a bingo card of personal art trials by my side. Alas, by late April, I had been hired to a new project as a writer. The time-consuming role had my art challenge fall by the wayside. A few art commissions sprinkled in here and there, but ultimately, 2024 was top-heavy art-wise.
In 2024, I made...
A style study illustration of my and Elm's character Bellarmino from our WIP project Primrose Path
A commission of a genderbent MC from Love and Deepspace for a private client
Character pose sketches for a private client
Fan art of Seamus and Hugo from Of Sense and Soul by Forsythia Productions
A Hamtaro OC fan art "attack" on Artfight
Secret Ending CGs for Wake Up Magical Girl! by Miseri
Facial character concepts for Drop Dead Daters
Some experimental, traditional pieces at my library's monthly art night
Writing 2023
Mostly preproduction material for personal visual novels. Most impactful were my notes for The Corpse Lieutenant, spending months looking into—frankly—emotionally exhausting topics in order to better contextualize the thinking behind my main character, and shared some of those insights here on Patreon. Much of the reading pulled from real historical events during World War II. After these notes though, it did take some time for me to reengage with the project. I likely did not realize how the intensity of the content would impact me until much later.
My 2022 concern that I had no drive to produce more short, personal works, and that hopefully it would turn around in 2023 did not materialize. But far more importantly, this year, I did not feel so pressed about such output. It is what it is!
In 2023, I wrote...
More plot outlining for my unnamed sprite and spider adventure visual novel
Notes on war crimes, related criminal testimony, and psychology research for The Corpse Lieutenant
Writing 2024
The overwhelming majority of 2024 was dedicated to a dating sim visual novel project for which I was hired. I ended up being offered a promotion to a greater and additionally more managerial role among the freelance writing department. I found the shared creativity of the freelancers very uplifting and inspiring. Equally, production had proven challenging for many reasons.
Because I had to prioritize this large commercial project, I had not made much time to return to my own visual novel, The Corpse Lieutenant. That said, I did plot out and bullet story beats for considerable changes to the script that I believe are for the better. I also ended up creating a separate guilty pleasure, just-for-fun fiction project with my best friend in order to break up the writing monotony, as well as the beginnings of a different project with a different friend's studio.
In 2024, I wrote...
Expanded scenes and narrative changes for the second draft of The Corpse Lieutenant
A narrative design document, writing style guide, event script template, demo outline draft, interview transcripts, and character route outlines with other co-writers as a lead freelance writer for a studio client
Some story concepts for an upcoming project with Studio Ephua
Edits for a friend's WIP novel
Several chapters of a gay supernatural sports story under an alias with my best friend that you will have to find yourself if you're curious lol
Audio 2023
Compared to 2022, I really slowed down on voice acting and audio engineering. Much of that work came from volunteering on game jams. But after the fun work of lending my voice to a poison-dealing romance during one such jam, that was really it for the year.
A project or two afterwards where I was brought on for my voice work did not materialize. That may have influenced my setting it aside into the next year, as I've written before that I don't have the time and energy as an independent, non-union, and agentless talent to really hustle for roles in a paid capacity. At least, not when I put more weight into art and writing at the moment.
In 2023, I have...
Voiced Marie Chaligault in the Belladonna's Flight demo by Night Asobu
Audio 2024
I did not do any voice acting or audio engineering this year. I did not plan for any, I did not seek it out, nor was I approached for any.
That said, I had been invited to a couple of just-for-fun gaming and anime commentary streams with anime enthusiast, anime journalist, and content creator Wolfborg, so huge shoutout to him for knowing I'd bring the funk! Probably. I mean I brought something, lol.
In 2024, I have...
A few goofball special guest appearances on anime review & co-op gaming streams by Wolfborg
Business 2023
My primary focus was streamlining some processes for requests of my services, drafting up new and comprehensive ToS and forms for my commission and consultation services, and detailing processes of how I usually go through an accepted request or session for new client transparency.
In 2023, I have...
Set up my art commissions page and request form
Set up my narrative consultation page, request form, and booking site
Updated my art and writing portfolios and resumes
Killed my Twitter/X and moved to Bluesky
Joined some online art commission request communities
Business 2024
I did not do much this year in the way of business preparation, organization, or expansion. Much of my time was taken up by the actual work I was performing. I don't foresee doing much business building in 2025 either, probably just maintaining the websites and resources I do have, but once I get the ball rolling on certain projects, I will want to more aggressively market my services online to my target audience of independent creative clients.
Personal Review
Career 2023
The year before, I mentioned wanting to move into an associate or assistant producer, product management, project management, or art director role for a "steady day job". This year, I made strides towards applications for at least 2D character artist roles at AA studios, and learning specifically about project management in independent study so that I could be ready when it came time to purchase an exam to pass for certification.
Unfortunately, I've not been picked up for any such positions yet. Regarding character artist roles, 2D appears to be a shrinking demand. 3D is the vogue, as is working knowledge of 3D game engines like Unreal. Tragically, I do not have any 3D skills or knowledge, though I want to at least pursue 3D sculpting once I can afford a better workstation.
As for PM certification, I want to hold off until I can really spare the cost for an exam.
I want to continue my efforts into 2024, but there is a small part of me that wonders if I would fare better in a completely unrelated day job with much lower barriers of entry, just so I don't end up burning out on my passions. Because at the end of the day, affording to do my projects is not just a money issue. It is also a time and energy balance as well.
Career 2024
Looking back in 2023, the classic artist's plight of the suitable "day job" did force me to pivot in my plans, as I did not find much immediate success in applying for my ideal roles in a difficult industry. I decided to compromise for now and take on a smaller "stepping stone" role, just so steadier income could come in that I could reinvest into my tools, services, and projects. But the biggest thing was that balance of time and energy as well. I began to focus on finding flexible, local jobs to keep my chin above water, with a growing emphasis on arts-adjacent or community-related roles.
Two big things happened this year: I applied for and was awarded a $2.5k independent artists grant from my state arts council, and I got a much more flexible day job. The grant was validation that the work I do online is worthy of monetary support in the eyes of my state, and opened up a new way of support for me and my art. And the new day job—where under the county government, I work to keep school children safe—has opened my eyes up to roles that specifically give back to my town, as I do want my day job to be uplifting and enriching for those around me. But perhaps best of all, these two things give me time and money for my personal projects, and to hone new art and business skills.
Moving into 2025, I think at the end of the day, I will be more focused on being self-made, and making career moves that allow me to be so, rather than the prestige I seem to attach to more traditional industry employment.
Hobbies 2023
My concern in 2022 was that I would continue having a dearth in desire to do creative personal work for study or fun. I mentioned that I'd like to try something unrelated to the writing and drawing that I do for work, introducing a new passion into my life. I even thought about whittling, or learning bass guitar.
Sadly, I did not pick up either of these things. I do still want to try whittling though, lol, but I think in 2023, I just didn't set time aside. The good thing though is that my concern became acceptance: sometimes, as I do art and writing for work, I may not want to do more in my spare time beyond engaging friends and consuming media. And that's more than acceptable.
Hobbies 2024
I allowed myself to explore a different part of my creativity that wasn't as reliant on personal, laborious output: I joined a choir. Before the beginning of the year, it had been a decade since I sang in a choir. I've had at least decade of formal training as a youth, and even ten years later, I auditioned and was accepted into a chorus focused on bringing together queer members of the community, from high schoolers to senior citizens. Though I was only with them for a semester (their practice location was unfortunately very far out), the feeling of singing in beautiful harmony a set of songs that touch the soul is something I've deeply missed and truly cherished. And the challenge of learning those complex pieces with the help of others was, in the end, so rewarding!
I also joined a book club! I was reading various literature with friends as a way to get back into reading for fun and inspiration, and engaging in analytical conversation with others. I don't get enough of that anymore as I'm not into fandom these days, so this was a cool and insightful way to go about it. I think I'll even continue with book clubs into 2025, branching out into more casual reads like comics and manga.
Health 2023
I had a difficult start to my 2023, with a fatigue from winter that hung over me even into spring—an unusual length of time from recent memory. And underneath that fatigue was a general anxiety from 2022 due to the public response to the resurgent pandemic. But, with time, exposure, preparation, and medication, I was able to overcome the anxiety and better cope with fatigue, returning to being out and about in public safely.
For the first few months, I had put a challenge on myself to visit one new event in person, and I was able to keep it up. I also took time to take walks with friends and loved ones, and visit my family more outside of holidays and birthdays. And though I wasn't able to do all of these things on a strict schedule throughout the year, it was enough to bring me back to a point mentally and socially before the pandemic hit. I'm glad I took the strides I did to come out of a shell I had unwittingly and only recently formed.
Health 2024
I was on a roll until mid autumn, where I was again hit with SAD. Or so I thought. In trying to get ahead of it, I ordered my usual prescription. But I had noticed that the antidepressant was not working effectively at all this time, regardless of dose, and symptoms of fatigue, resistance, and forgetfulness still persisted. In confiding in friends, family, and my care team, I was able to put some pieces together and went for a certain psychiatric test.
Well, at 29 years old, I received an ADHD diagnosis. It honestly rocked my world. But I'm glad I got it, as it explains the persistence of some of the symptoms I was experiencing when my seasonal depression was, well, out of season. And, it's a treatable condition. I was able to try ADHD medication for the first time in December, and while I'm still looking for the right type, the intended positive effect on me was immediate. I'm looking forward to seeing how my health improves in 2025 with this brand new information.
Final Words
A lot can happen in two years' time, as you can see. If you made it this far, thank you for reading. I'm so grateful for those of you who support me, who encourage me, who understand me, and who keep me company. I give what I get, and the arts is how I do.

first panel of a 4-panel sketchy digital mp100 comic. reigen, mob, serizawa, and tome (with dimple in tow) are all shown 10 years after canon, dressed in outdoorsy clothes and walking together. reigen looks largely the same, which a slightly higher hairline and more prominent cheek crease. serizawa does as well, save for a mustache and beard stubble. mob- a woman- has shoulder length hair, and tome has a short mullet.
mob, serizawa, and tome are depicted as fatter than they are in canon. reigen is talking with one hand in his pocket, mob is holding a toad and smiling down at it, she also has a thought bubble with a frog face in it. serizawa is carrying a fishing rod over his shoulder while tome talks with him excitedly, carrying a bug net which dimple is riding in. above them, text reads: "SnS goes fishing" (fishing has been cropped out) "kappy hunting", below this in smaller text: "+mob, who doesn't work here anymore, but she still tags along sometimes."
panel 2, which shows reigen twice. in the first, he has one finger to is mouth with a puzzled expression, thinking "hm- déjà vu? this feels so familiar. wait-" he suddenly looks shocked, and has a thought bubble showing a drawing by ONE of serizawa, reigen, and mob 11 years after canon and going fishing.
serizawa in the foreground holds a fish and a knife and says "i caught a fish!" behind him, mob (in a suit and tie) says on the phone "huh? what am i doing? yes... i had some free time so i went to go catch a kappa... no, i'm not messing around, i'm helping my master... i'm fired?" reigen, shocked and nervous, turns to mob with a hand out and says "h..hand me the phone!"
panel 3, back out of reigen's thought bubble- reigen turns to mob, pointing a finger at her with a nervous face and exclaims "MOB!! if you get a call from your boss, let me handle it!" mob looks back at him blankly as the toad she was holding hops out of her hands. she says "what"
panel 4, reigen puts his hand on mob's shoulder, face set in determination. mob looks at him, confused and perhaps exasperated. she says "i'm off today i don't think she'll call me". reigen replies "don't worry. i've got this handled." mob says "why do you want to talk to my boss". reigen, ignoring her, says "leave it to shishou." mob says "reigen." behind the two of them, serizawa holds up a fish on the end of his line and says "i caught a fish!" happily, while tome looks at him with a smile.
