OK I know submissions are closed for the season 4 blog but I just remembered an obscure game that I can not remember what the name of and I can think of no better fanbase to help me remember. Also fair warning I would bet this will be harder than the last one.

Ok so it was a mobile game that I'm pretty sure was removed from the app store like a decade ago. In it you played as a little purple dragon guy who ran a tavern. Here's a quick sketch of what I remember him looking like:

The gameplay loop was that you would make a food (by just choosing a food from a menu and it would cook passively. you could make 2 at a time) and you would recruit adventures by like spending food points and they would stay in your upstairs area and you would use them to fight monsters.

The gameplay was very VERY simple. All the food was just a number of food points and a tine to cook, so the hydra stew (the highest cooking time at 24 hours) or something was the only one ever worth cooking because it had the highest food point to time ratio. I think the adventures were similar where some where just better than others so assembling a team was as simple as picking the 3 adventures you had with the highest number.

Oh and I have no idea why I remember this, but I am almost CERTAIN that the game was made by Tapps, the people who make those [animal] evolution mobile games (I think they also used to make deer hunting games but that's beside the point). Unfortunately I could not find a list of every game they have made but maybe y'all will have better luck.

I loved playing this game when I was like 6-8 and I gamed on my mom's phone, but then she got a new phone and I couldn't find it on the app store. I've missed it ever since. So if y'all can find proof it existed I will be forever greatful.

ok so i had a better idea about desmond turning into creatures.

he gets raised up from a pup into Ebony Odogaron. Might be good for stealth since he'd blend into the dark. And the zap zap stuff might be useful. Parkour? no problem with the sets of double claws.

Or he's a Violet Mizutsune. This one is probably even better for stealth considering it slides around in its own soap water and can hunt other creatures and set its soap water on fire. (the trailer for it is bomb af) It's a very mobile creature so it probably could parkour because its body movement.

It's got white on it too >:3

Speaking of Monhun, here’s an idea of the Assassins becoming hunters in MonHun World, here’s an idea of which MonHun monster Desmond could be reincarnated to and an idea of Desmond being reborn as a Zinogre.

What I remember most about Odogaron is that it has an enraged state which makes him faster and harder to hit so the usual tactic is to keep running and dodging until it exhausts itself, then it’ll be an easier battle.

Odogaron is purely a melee monster and Desmond probably try to use his tail as a weapon more often than a normal Odogaron. He’ll probably as small as a corgi first but soon starts growing and keeps growing while being raised by Altaïr.

People just assumed he’s an exotic animal from crusader lands until the Third Crusades begin and the Assassins notice that crusaders don’t recognize him and some even fear him.

By that point, he’s grown large enough that he wear horse armor and people would think he’s a horse.

He can jump really high though and his claws can dig to walls, making it easy for him to climb high structure.

So what you usually happens is that he lets Altaïr disembark before they reach the location and Desmond would stealth his way inside the city using the walls and rooftops while Altaïr enter it the usual way. (Or, sometimes, he stays with Desmond and Desmond climbs up)

Desmond starts to reach the normal adult Odogaron size after Altaïr took the mentorship and the Apple from Al Mualim so there are rumors that Desmond becomes as big as he is because of the Apple but it can’t be proven.

He’s, of course, Sef and Darim’s babysitter because Altaïr believes he’s smarter than humans (Desmond thinks Altaïr is blinded by their years of being together, less master and pet and more companions/family).

Of course, Abbas’ coup fail because they tried to kill Desmond first but, at that point, Altaïr had made an armor for him that’s basically made of the same material as the Armor of Altaïr.

Desmond stays with the Ibn-La'Ahad family until he feels the urge to leave and he gets to Firenze in time to ‘stop’ the execution.

And by stop, yes, that does mean the people of Firenze still talked about the day a mighty hellhound maul and eat (he didn’t eat anyone) the guards and Uberto Alberti.

… all to save the cursed Auditore family.

(As a reference to Odogaron’s penchant for eating Legiana corpse, maybe Desmond’s favorite food is a leaf that looks a lot like Legiana’s wings?)

Ah, Mizutsune. The monster I bullied in Rise until I realized that Rakna-Kadaki’s set is more of my style. XD

Okay, but in all seriousness, Desmond as a Mizutsune would be a fun idea, especially as this is a kind of Leviathan that can move fast both on land and on water. That soap it secretes? It makes it easier for it to move even on difficult terrain, making a Mizutsune Desmond one of the fastest and most elegant destructive force that the Templars ever witness. This soap hinders other people too, making it harder for them to move.

Also, it could shoot out pressurized water from its mouth so Desmond would have a devastating long range attack.

By the way, there’s a white and red Mizutsune that would look good for Desmond: The Soulseer Mizutsune:

Up to you if you want to keep the scars on the eyes to make Desmond blind, make it part of the plot later on or decide that he wouldn’t get the scars.

Spark's other parent

I know the identity of Spark's other parent. Long post under the cut

Ok, so this is about a game called Cattails Wildwood Story. I wholeheartedly recommend it, it's sometimes described as "stardew valley but cats" and while there is no farming, the relationship system is quite similar, and maybe even better in some aspects (dialogue for every relationship stage which is 12 if you marry the npc, specific dialogue for when your hunger or health is low, getting gifts, you have a birthday, etc.). But if you're reading this, you probably already know all that! So, let's get into it.

So, the identity of Spark's other parent has never been explicitly confirmed, however I have a strong theory on who it may be.

Often it is speculated that Spark's other parent is a member of the Forest Colony. Or another colony. And while it seems likely, there is one singular piece of dialogue from Ember, which you get at 3 hearts, that puts all that into question.

"I spent some time as a house cat, (Name). Well, sort of. The humans let me come and go as I pleased, but they always left out food for me. It was a decent life, but I could never go back to it. That's when I met my ex. Too many bad memories associated with that time in my life."

So from that dialogue we find out that Ember used to be a house cat and that they met their ex partner and the other parent of Spark during that time. Is there a game where Ember is a house cat and we can find out more about them?

Well, there is.

So, for those of you who are familiar with the Warrior Cats book series (and that's probably 99% of Cattails players. It's not needed to enjoy or understand it, as even the game developer hasn't read it, just the field guides because his little sister wanted a game about her favourite book, but worth a try if you want to understand how Cattails became what it is today), you might have heard of a game Warrior Cats Untold Tales.

It's a game that was made by the Cattails developer. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's an old game that you can download on your computer for free. It's very low quality when it comes to graphics and gameplay, but hey. It's better that 99.9% of what you can find on mobile for free. It's basically a very early version of Cattails when it comes to mechanics. If you take Cattails and take away Stardew Valley, you're pretty much left with a higher quality version of WC:UT. It's an oversimplification and obviously Cattails is more that the combination of these games. Just trying to give you a general idea what it's like. It's worth a try - after all, it is free. There will be spoilers here for the part with Ember - because as you probably can tell, they are in the game.

So, as you play the game, you might encounter a cat named - yeah you guessed it - Ember. They're a kittypet (the clan cats' name for a house cat) and willing to show you their house and let you visit them and possibly live there if you pay 40 reputation points (representing the fact that it's dishonorable for a clan cat to accept anything from humans). Now if it wasn't for that one piece of dialogue, I'd just think that it doesn't take place in the same universe - but given what Ember said, it probably does.

When you visit Ember, you find out they live with an owner named George and a little kitten named Fuzzy who you can play hide and seek with. But you can also find a passage to BloodClan (for those of you who don't know, it's a group of street cats that are kinda evil and look like Charlotte). There is one cat that is white (unfortunately I couldn't find a high quality photo, just look up "warrior cats untold tales thrash"). His (that's right, that cat is referred to as "he") name is Thrash (not a typo, that's legit his name. I was today years old when I found out his name isn't Trash) and he can actually live with you and Ember and Fuzzy! If you let him live in the owner's closet, he will give you something every day, but Fuzzy won't play hide and seek with you anymore because Thrash is mean and Fuzzy is upset that you let him in the house.

So, it is plausible that Thrash and Ember fell in love when that happened and had a kitten. Now, I have no idea how Ember got to the Forest Colony, but I am almost certain that Thrash is Spark's father.

Also that means that Spark is half BloodClan (unlike Charlotte)

Gymnastics/Olympics AU Part 4

Sports medicine is a backup plan that Steve likely won’t even need, given the ever growing pile of gold medals and sponsorships, but he’s thanking his past self for giving him the opportunity to maybe get his hands on Eddie Munson. Who’s just staring at him, slack jawed and unmoving.  

“It’s ok if you don’t,” Steve backs away, putting his hands up in a defensive position, “just figured I would offer since-” but before he’s even done talking, Eddie is pulling at his leo, yanking it down over his shoulders to free the top half of his body. It startles a laugh out of Steve as Eddie climbs onto his bed with it dangling around his waist. He lays face down and squirms for a second before settling. 

“Is it just your shoulder that hurts?” Steve asks, pulling off his jacket and tossing it towards his side of the room. He approaches Eddie and sits on the edge of the bed. 

“M-my wrist, too,” Eddie mumbles into the sheets, wiggling his arm around like Steve doesn’t know which side is injured. 

Eddie’s skin is so pale, he must not get out of the gym much. There’s not even a tan line around his arms or neck, just a smooth expanse of creamy white skin laid bare for Steve to see. No moles dotting the surface like his own skin. 

He starts with a gentle touch, but Eddie’s a bit jumpy and shifts again. “It won’t hurt, I promise,” he reassures. An almost inaudible sound leaves Eddie, something between a grunt of confirmation and a whimper that Steve elects to ignore, pressing his closed fists down Eddie’s upper back. 

Even though it’s just a warm up technique, he can already feel the tension in Eddie’s muscles and how it’s starting to leak out under his hands. He moves around to focus on the scapula, putting pressure on the points of tension. A low groan rumbles from Eddie’s chest. 

A bed really isn’t the best place for this, the angle’s not right, as Steve needs to be in front of or behind Eddie to really move his arm the right way. In front of the bed isn’t an option, it’s tucked into a corner, the ends aligning with the wall and furniture.  

“Would it be okay if I-“ he hesitates. They’re not really friends, barely acquaintances, who just an hour ago were practically enemies, and Steve’s been harboring this unspoken crush. It feels weird to ask, but he needs to get a better angle if he wants to properly work out the tension in Eddie’s shoulder. “Is it okay if I sit on your legs? I can’t do this properly from the side.”

Eddie’s head pops up and he gives Steve a searching look over his shoulder before he nods. “Uh y-yeah sure. Whatever works.” 

He swings his leg over Eddie’s and sinks down on his thighs. Eddie doesn’t have much of an ass, which is surprising for how filled out he is in other places, but Steve does notice the two little back dimples peeking out from the bunching of his leo. Steve desperately wants to sink his thumbs into their grooves, but he shakes his head and focuses on Eddie’s shoulder. 

Taking his arm, he gently moves Eddie’s hand to rest behind his back. He tries not to think about how suggestive this position is, how if he closes his eyes he could picture Eddie with his hands tied behind his back as Steve works his way into him and pushes Eddie face down into the mattress. He needs to shut his brain off and focus. Gripping the top and bottom of Eddie’s shoulder, he rotates it in a circle. 

He’s leaning forward over Eddie now, pushing into his skin, mobilizing his shoulder to hopefully ease some of his pain. It must work because Eddie groans, this time a bit hoarse but louder than before, and he moves under Steve. His hips twitch, pushing backwards and forwards in a rocking motion, squirming and knocking Steve off kilter. Steve’s hands slide from Eddie’s shoulder to the middle of his back, moving his arm back to his side and pushing Eddie down into the mattress and all those unwanted thoughts from a few minutes ago come rushing back. 

And it seems like Eddie might be on the same page. The moan he lets out at Steve wriggling in place, trying to get back to his spot, is sinful and decidedly more sexual in nature. Steve squeezes his thighs together, pinning Eddie’s hips to the mattress, settling higher until he’s tucked right against Eddie’s ass, and he’s delighted to see Eddie’s alabaster skin turn a rosy pink color.

He leans down and whispers into Eddie’s ear, “Is this working for you?” 

A high pitched mewling sound leaves Eddie’s throat and he burrows his face into a pillow, nodding, like he’s embarrassed to be caught like this. That’s the only confirmation Steve needs, so he forces his hips forward, letting Eddie feel how stupidly turned on he is by all of this, hoping that he’s not making a mistake. 

It’s muffled, but he thinks Eddie makes a sound suspiciously similar to his name. Feels it under the palms of his hands. He starts pressing into Eddie’s shoulder again with closed fists, but grinds his hips at the same time, the hard outline of his cock rubbing against Eddie’s ass. There’s a second where he thinks he made the wrong move, Eddie completely still underneath him, but then a split second later he’s melting into the sheets, putty in Steve’s hands, writhing. 

He works his way down Eddie’s back, moving on from his shoulder and gripping the back dimples like they’re handlebars and Eddie’s his ride. It lets him control the movement of Eddie’s hips that are slowly grinding into the mattress, a gradual rocking motion that’s teasing Steve, sliding the tip of his cock against the cleft of Eddie’s ass. 

There’s too much material between them for it to really do much for Steve, but Eddie’s harsh breathing and the rhythm of his hips indicate he’s finding more friction than Steve. He scoots down the bed, standing for a second to pull his shorts off, watching as Eddie continues to move on his own, wantonly rolling his hips and seemingly lost in the motion, not even stopping once Steve’s weight has disappeared. 

Before he crawls back over him, Steve slides his hands up Eddie’s legs, grasping the bunched up material and pulling it down. Eddie lifts his hips without Steve asking and lets him pull it all the way off, tossing it across the room like his jacket earlier. Standing beside the bed, Steve takes in the long line of Eddie’s body, the scattered red marks along his back where Steve’s hands have been standing out like a brand against his pale skin. It makes something feral kick up in his chest when Eddie turns his head and looks at Steve with a sort of desperation in his eyes. 

“Are you coming back or am I going to have to finish what you started by myself?”

How could he have been so stupid?

River paced around the small storage room. Admittedly there wasn’t much space but moving felt better than doing nothing at all. He wanted to have trusted Sid, a friend in Slough House. He didn’t realise just how lonely it could be until he was there. Before he always had Spider and Rebecca.

Fucking, cunty Spider.

Rebecca.

He ran his hands over his face. Fuck. Now he’d never get a chance to tell her everything that he’d been meaning to. All the places that he’d love to take her even on a Slough House salary. Despite what Spider implied he knew that Rebecca didn’t care about his lack of decent salary. She liked him for him. She still wanted to maintain their friendship, despite the stigma around it.

Fuck.

And now he was locked in a fucking storage cupboard, with a Dog on guard and no idea what was happening to Sid or to Becca.

Rebecca.

It was always Rebecca.

Never Becca.

River froze as he heard the sounds of fighting outside. He quickly took off his shoe and put it in a bag. Ok, it was a pathetic weapon but it was better than nothing. Maybe it was Rebecca coming to save him? Maybe she finally got proof of everything he’d been saying about Spider. But no, Rebecca was never much of a fighter but maybe, just this once she’d-

Ok, literally anyone would’ve been better than Lamb apart from maybe Spider and possibly Roddy. It wasn’t long until River was back in the relative safety of Lamb’s car although from the general state of it River was in half a mind to go back to the hospital and wait for the Dogs. Immediately he pulled out his phone.

Got to make sure that Rebecca was ok.

“Got something more important to do?”

River glanced over at Lamb. He was focusing on the road but this was still Jackson Lamb. He looked back at his mobile and grimaced. He didn’t want Lamb to know about Rebecca. Wordlessly he shoved his phone back into his pocket.

“No, no,” said Lamb, “one of your colleagues got shot and is in intensive care but go on- message your girlfriend.”

“She isn’t my girlfriend.”

“Ah.”

Fuck.

“But you want her to be. ‘Course now you’re a slow fucking horse you don’t have a fucking chance. Not that you probably had a chance to begin with.”

River gritted his teeth and refused to rise to the bait. He looked out of the window as he watched London fly by.

“Or maybe,” Lamb continued and River could hear the amusement in his voice, “she had her eye on someone else. You wanted her, she didn’t want you which is,” Lamb waved a hand at him, “fucking understandable.”

River’s eye twitched as he thought of fucking Spider.

Rebecca and Spider

“And now she’s forgotten all about you. She’s moved the fuck on and you’re not even registering on her thoughts. You really think that fucking texting her will change that? Or maybe you’re just trying to gain some sympathy from her. One of your colleagues died, you got locked up by a Dog. Trying to get a sympathy fuck from her.”

“Rebecca isn’t like that.”

“Rebecca.”

Damn it and now Lamb has her name. It wouldn’t be too difficult for him to find out who Rebecca is, even if he was at Slough House. He was still Jackson Lamb at the end of the day. Fuck, he really needed to talk to Rebecca.

When the door to Slough House finally slammed shut, River immediately pulled out his phone again. The others were still crowding around Moody’s body and he thought that Min was going to throw up. Louisa seemed to be sobering up quickly so he needed to be quick.

“River?”

“Rebecca,” he let out the breath he’d been holding, “fuck. Are you ok?”

“Yes. Hang on, let me go somewhere a bit more private.”

“Are you still at The Park?”

“Yeah I was just about to leave. Why?” her voice lowered, “you don’t want something do you? If I do I don’t know-”

“No, nothing like that. I’d never ask you to do that. I just-”

River was in the kitchen and sat down heavily. He ran a hand over his face as he struggled to find the words he was looking for. Everything he wanted to say he didn’t want to say over the phone.

“River? Is everything ok? You’re starting to worry me.”

“I’m-”

River drew in a shuddering breath as he tried to figure out what to say. I’m what? Not ok? Saw my colleague get shot in the head and it’s all my fault and she might or might not die?

“River?”

Or that all I want right now is to hear your voice.

“Are you still there?”

“Yeah,” fuck was that really his voice? It didn’t sound like him, “Yeah I am. It’s… nothing. It doesn’t matter.”

“Something’s happened. Tell me.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not? You’re my friend and I’m worried about you.”

But those weren’t the feelings that River wanted Rebecca to feel for him.

“I just wanted to make sure that you’re safe,” he said quietly, “and to be careful.”

“What’s-”

“I’ll explain later.”

If he survived that is.

“River-”

“I really can’t talk about it now. Just… promise me that you’ll stay safe.”

“I promise. But don’t think you’re getting out of this easily. I’m expecting an explanation.”

“I expect nothing less.”

Much to River’s displeasure he eventually hung up. He drew in a shuddering breath and ran his fingers through his hair.  Hearing Rebecca’s voice had made him feel slightly better. He had made up his mind- when this was all over he was going to tell her how he really felt. Damn Spider, this didn’t concern him any more.

But he couldn’t, he shouldn’t. He couldn’t do that to their friendship if she didn’t feel the same way. Fuck, he really, really needed a drink.

“So, who were you talking to.”

River hadn’t realised that Min and Louisa had joined him in the kitchen. Min was smiling at him and immediately River grabbed his phone. Ok, so he wasn’t exactly being subtle but he had a fucking awful evening.

“A friend.”

“A friend or a friend.”

River winced at those words, the same ones the Sid had used earlier that evening. Their conversation in the car seemed like a lifetime ago. And as far as he knew, for Sid it probably was.

“Jesus Christ Min,” said Louisa, “what are you? Twelve.”

“I was just saying,” Min rocked back in his chair and held up his hands, “I can give River some advice.”

“Why would he want advice from you?”

“Because I’m the one who’s married.”

Louisa muttered something under her breath which River missed but caused Min to glare at her.

“So,” Min said, “why haven’t you told her.”

“Told who what?” asked River

“Your friend about how you feel about her.”

Louisa joined Min and River, sitting next to Min. River noted that she was sitting slightly closer to Min then she usually would. Maybe it was just the alcohol in their system causing them to act like this but a pang of longing coursed through River. He missed the nights when it was him and Rebecca (and unfortunately Spider) on Rebecca’s sofa. A bit too much alcohol and simpler times when all three were at The Park.

“Because,” River sighed and gave up trying to deny it, “because it’ll fuck up our friendship.”

“And what’s the worst that can happen?” asked Min

“She says no and says that we shouldn’t see each other again because it’ll make things awkward. So I’ve fucked up our friendship for absolutely nothing.”

“You’ve thought way too much about this haven’t you?” asked Min

“No!”

“What,” Min hiccuped, “You need to do is give her roses!”

“Roses.” said River, giving Min a serious look

“Yeah, everyone fucking loves roses,” he over at Louisa, “do you like them. Roses.”

“They trigger my hayfever.” Louisa said dryly

“Huh.” replied Min, seemingly lost in thought

“No,” River shook his head, “no. She doesn’t even like me that way.”

“Have you asked her?” asked Min

“I didn’t need to,” muttered River, “there was someone at a Christmas party…”

He cut himself off and looked away, Min and Louisa shared a look and once again River had the feeling of being left out. No partner (both professionally and romantically), being left out at Slough House now Min and Louisa had each other, not part of anything at The Park for obvious reasons.

Maybe, for once, Min had a point.

Spider looked down over The Park’s reception. He liked being up here. Being able to watch people without them spying back at him. Seemingly automatically his gaze drifted to Rebecca who was making her way across the foyer. She was pulling on her coat, the same one he brought her for Christmas one year. She had insisted that it was too much but he wanted her to have it.

Who else would he spend his money on?

Just before she got to the doors she stopped and pulled out her phone. Even from this distance Spider could see the look of worry on her face. A look that only meant one person-

River fucking Cartwright.

Whenever the surname ‘Cartwright’ was mentioned everyone became worried and suddenly plagued by migraines. Rebecca slowly walked away from the door and Spider’s hands curled around the railings.

“Fucking hell. Just tell her.”

Spider looked over his shoulder and had to hold back his sneer.

Duffy.

Fucking Dogs.

This was what all his hard work had brought him down to. Working with thugs like Duffy.

“Tell her what exactly?” Spider replied curtly

“That you want to bend her over the nearest surface and fuck her until the only thing she can remember is your name. Surely even you could manage that. I wonder,” Duffy walked closer, “do you think she’ll be screaming Spider or James.”

Spider knew better than to rise to the challenge. He glanced back at Rebecca who was now in the middle of the reception area. She glanced up and made eye contact with Spider and smiled softly at him. She raised a hand in greeting before turning her attention back to her phone call. Spider only raised a couple of fingers in response, slightly hurt that Rebecca would pay more attention to someone behind a phone then to someone in the same building.

Beside him Duffy rolled his eyes. Fucking hell, this was who Taverner told him to work with. This ‘spook’ couldn’t even muster up the courage to tell this girl that he wanted to fuck her. What use was he going to be in the field?

“Fucking hell,” said Duffy, “how hard is it to tell her what you want to do to her.”

“Because,” Spider started and cut himself off, “because by doing that I could have a HR complaint filed against me. Besides, there was an incident at Christmas-” He broke off and shook his head, “doesn’t matter and it’s none of your business.”

“A HR-” Duffy shook his head, “fuck, even you could make that go away.”

“I know,” Spider said, trying his best to keep his voice level, “but Rebecca is my friend.”

“You friend,” Duffy rolled his eyes, “look, what you need to do is take her out for dinner-”

“We do go out for dinner. It’s what… friends do.”

“And you pay?”

“Always.”

“And she doesn’t give you anything in return.”

The implication made Spider freeze. He would never consider taking advantage of Rebecca like that and yet that’s what Duffy was unashamedly suggesting. Duffy slung what he probably thought was a friendly arm around Spider’s shoulders and led him away.

“Then you have a couple of drinks,” he said, “whatever the fuck someone like you drinks. And you take her back to yours and if you can’t get her into bed after that then there really is no hope for you.”

Spider shrugged off Duffy’s arm and ignored the way Duffy’s eyes narrowed at him. Spider brushed some dust off his jacket and looked down at Rebecca. She had hung up and was heading back towards the archives. Shit, he needed to hurry up.

“I’ll meet you downstairs.” he said as he quickly made his way downstairs

It didn’t take James long to find Rebecca. She was making her way towards the archives but paused when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Rebecca remembered River’s warning to be careful so she was on higher alert than usual. She was an archivist, not usually someone that people targeted unless for major reasons.

Oh. James. That made Rebecca relax and lean against the wall. She smiled at him as he finally stopped directly in front of her. There was no one else around. Most people were either in the main control room or busy looking for these terrorists. She only hoped that they weren’t too late to save Hassan.

“Everything alright?” she asked, pushing herself off the wall

“Yeah. Just-”

James took a deep breath and took a small step closer. He raised a hand and cupped Rebecca’s cheek. She froze under his touch as he bent down and before she could step away pressed a brief kiss against her lips. It was soft and gentle and just a hint of uncertainty in it. His other hand rose and hung in the air awkwardly before settling stiffly on her waist. Rebecca closed her eyes and took a small step closer, putting her hands on his shoulders. When James broke the kiss he remained close, his lips brushing against hers.

“Stay safe,” he said, “there’s a lot of shit going on tonight and I don’t want you to get caught up in it.”

“I know. I’ve-”

Rebecca cut herself off and James narrowed his eyes slightly. So, Cartwright must’ve already warned her.

“I am in Service,” Rebecca said instead, “I’m not a complete idiot.”

“I know,” he said and pressed his forehead against hers, “Fuck, I know. Just keep safe. For me?”

Rebecca smiled and nodded.

“For you.”

“Good.”

He pressed another kiss against her lips. This one was more confident and Rebecca could feel the longing behind it.  He raised his hands and cupped her cheeks, brushing the pads of his thumbs over her cheekbones. Rebecca returned it eagerly, raising her hands and tangling her fingers in his hair. Fuck, she wanted this so much. Finally, and much to Rebecca’s annoyance, he broke the kiss.

Spider and Rebecca remained close, noses brushing against each other. Spider’s lips grazed achingly close to Rebecca’s but he stopped short of kissing her again.

“Like I said,” Spider said, “I want you to keep safe.”

He hesitated for a moment before reluctantly stepping away. Rebecca looked at him wide eyed as Spider gave her a brief smile before turning on his heel and marching away. Rebecca could see how red his face had become but also the triumphant smile on his face. When he had disappeared from view she leant heavily against the wall and touched her lips.

Fuck.

Why couldn’t that have happened earlier?

Oh I’m so glad you and plant anon agree with me on my vn red flags/icks! Like I said a lot of the red flags and icks I tend to have are really subjective so I get that some people will love what I kinda hate but it’s nice to see I’m not alone on stuff :)

Also, is it bad that I kinda wanna hear more about Heir to Love and Lie? I’ve never played any Fictif games but this sounds like some hot gossip I want in on, tell me more about how bad of a game it is lol. From an outsider perspective I think it’s kinda funny how it’s like “Yes the Fictif app has a bunch of great and fun stories with a ton of good content- NO DONT LOOK AT THAT STORY ITS HIDEOUS-” I know the stories are probably made by different teams so it makes sense that there’s differences in quality but still

Last Legacy and now Roadkill have peaked my interest since I’ve seen you talk about it here (I had never heard of Fictif at all before) but I’ve been a little hesitant to give the games a try because they’re mobile games and frankly I’m not the biggest fan of playing vn style games on mobile, I used to all the time but the grinding for stuff like story keys just to get content that may or may not be good kinda grated on me so I stopped and haven’t looked back. But idk maybe I’ll decide to give Fictif a chance when I have the time, your love for the games are definitely convincing me to give it a shot :)

Ok so i’ll start by saying that you should def play roadkil, last legacy and monster manor on the fictif app, WITH A CRACKED VERSION! If you have an Android play with a mod app and you won’t have to pay for the special choice ( you still have to wait for keys tho but it’s manageable) I personally use Modyolo. With the mod there is no grind, you just wait for your keys to regenerate to play the chapters.

Why you should play last legacy ? Last legacy is a really well written fantasy romance made by queers, for queers with good queers characters. The narrative is limited but realize that fans of this game haven’t had update in 2 years and we all still love this, that how good the game is for us. What I really appreciate is the approach of the romance, the well-written worldbuilding, and the interesting plot and evolution of the li throughout the story + bonus points the art is really pretty + the music is awesome

This is an otome where you feel the passion of the dev because of all the details and care they put into the characters. It sad that we’ll never get an ending but just because it’s my second favorite otome after Our life i really recomand.

Now another wonderful story on the app is Monster manor. It’s a reviseted tale of beauty and the beast where mc is a reparator that come helps the resident of the manor to fix the place and also fix their issue. Again it’s very well written and although you can get subtile subtext on romance this one is very axed on exploring the character's mental health and their story of self-improvement. ALSO IT HAS A CANON TRANS DRAGON CREATURE WHO’S THE SWEETEST I LOVE HIM HE’S SO WHOLESOME-

Bonus the music is so good i even added it on my spotify- and good art

Monster Manor is one of those stories that leave a very specific feeling in you. I don't know how to describe it but it just has a lot of wholesomeness and character going troughs sad but relatable problems that you see get better and makes you happy that they're healing.

THE BROMANCE OF THIS GAME IS SO GOOD I swear

Objectively: This game feels like a wild mess of fan fiction with random scenario after scenario and cliché horror moments, but oh man the ambiance. The best trio of Li, they are close friends, and in the 3 routes the group is just such an amazing friend group. The characters are lovely and it's like reading a bad yet good wattpad fanfic : well written ? no ? But the ideas ? good !

Like i said, this game is based on cliché of horror movies but also on american culture ( which I learned trought this game lol ). It has longer chapters than the other two games (except Tess but Tess got hit by the sexism of a greedy company that wants shirtless men in dating sim to attract gurls ) BUT they all shine.

Poe's route had me ugly crying in the end, Howie's ending is AWFULL but I had a great time, Tess is actually a superbe F Li even whith the dev having to cut her short and ruin her ending, she shine very britgh in the other routes and her own ( for ex she's the one with a shotgun and the one that won you and howie a teddy bear )

I really need more people to play roadkill because it's an underated banger in my opinion and it has many great scenes in the mess of scenarios ( the intro is really good for ecxemple )

Like, when I say not all game needs to be well written? That's what I'm talking about, this one is a hot delightful mess

17. A manga you didn’t expect to like

Hmnm ... I don't remember lmao. Like at least not anything that I felt that extremely "omg what pleasant surprise!!!!!" ? The best I could think of is kisses x kiss x kisses that ...well does have a cringe name that kinda put you expectations at low I guess lol

It's nothing amazing, it's a finished romance comic, that is very sweet. I liked the contrast of the protagonist and his love interest being like, boy with big family all living together and boy that lives alone with parents in another country lol. It is a cliche and not gonna pretend they do anything groundbreaking with it, but it's still a nice storyline. Lowkey big spoilers ahead I guess but: I liked that while the protagonist dream of living completely alone changed a little (cause come on its a fluffy romance lol), he still got separates room cause he does want be able to experience and enjoy not sharing a room,having more privacy and stuff. It's kinda small overall, but it's nice that his dream and his goals didn't do a complete change because of love.

Ok, so here are some thoughts I have on the new UI

Disclaimer: Some of these are probably just me things and not real issues lol

- I don’t like placement of map in the top corner, when I play sso I tend to keep my eyes focused on the bottom of the screen to see jumps and what not, and with the new placement I have to move my eyes farther to see the map. This takes my eyes away from my horse for longer, and makes me lose track of where I am/I ran into a few things trying to look at the map lol

- I don't like the placement of the speed indicator at the bottom of the screen, but hiding it gets rid of dismount button and forces you to rely on the x key

- I find the character pictures in the corner a bit distracting, they seem a bit to big and look out of place

- why is the chat bubble wobbly/squiggly/whatever? it's a stylistic choice, sure, but it's like...not exaggerated enough to read that way. It's sort of awkwardly in-between a clean design and a more squiggly design, making it look unintentional and messy to me instead of a artistic choice. I lowkey thought it was glitched at first lol

- So like...why is it incomplete? Settings, notifications, toggle view etc still have the old ui design, I just don't understand why they would seemingly release it with major aspects of it (i.e. character sheets, settings,) still unfinished

- So it's definitely aiming for mobile audiences, but it feels lackluster on pc

- I don't like the sparkles whenever you gain (h)xp

- Roughly the place where the dismount button used to be is now shopping…idk I just don't like how the shopping button is in front of the inventory button, I definitely clicked on it due to dismount button muscle memory a few times, and maybe this is me putting on too much of a tinfoil hat but it feels like by placing the shop button more prominently than the inventory button, they're trying to remind players of it more or get people to accidentally click it so people eventually pay more for clothes or whatever

- I like the loading screen! Art filling up the screen, font is pleasing, running horse

- There's now 3 styles of UI in the game now; the new UI, the old, and the updated race UI

- Honestly I like the race UI better than the new UI, I would maybe like it if they based the new UI more off that

- I don’t like having to click to level up horse although I could see that being useful for character leveling up if you want to time screenshots

- I like the animation leveling up comes with though

- reins glitch😩 not UI related but can they fix the reins connecting to saddle glitch already lol

- Inspecting players only works like 50% of the time for me now

- I'm not a fan of how separated all the buttons are now

-The white text on dark background in the chat box hurts my eyes and makes it hard to read but that's probably a me thing, I had a concussion that messed up my eyes and made it harder for me to read some text on screens including light on dark - however I did see someone else in global saying they thought the text was too bright as well

- I like the shared moment thing! The interactions with your horse are cute and fun

- I don’t like the extra call for pickup menu, I can see it being helpful but I'd like maybe a toggle button for that, like a "don't show this message again" thing

- Why does the inventory default to opening so low on the screen now?

- I like how you can see the exact xp numbers without the character screen

- Someone already mentioned it, but the champ groups...you can't see past like the first 4 letters of someone's names, and the scrolling

Anyway, I think it's fine overall, it's not my taste but I don't despise it like I thought it might

sorry i need to complain rly quick

ok so i went to the derby thing monday and in a nutshell it was awful solely bc i literally could not stay upright on my skates. im a severe asthmatic so i have to take albuterol before exercise and sometimes it makes me shaky, but this time my legs were like, completely and genuinely useless

everyone there was SO nice and only cared that i didnt hurt myself but im still really fucking embarrassed bc like. i make a point to exercise my legs every single day. at bare minimum i do squats and calf raises EVERY SINGLE DAY and have been for MONTHS bc of physical therapy. those two exercises particularly help keep my ankle and foot mobile so i make sure to do them, at least 30 of each, DAILY!!!!!!!!! my quads are fucking great!!!!!

so im like. alright. very cool and normal that the medication thats supposed to help me breathe is preventing me from even skating 3 feet in any direction, also very cool and awesome that people are gonna think its bc i have zero lower body strength (when in fact that is the ONLY place i have any strength!) bc my legs are like jello rn

(on top of this i was just so anxious and awkward and all this immediately brought up countless childhood memories of my gym teachers openly bullying me in front of my entire class bc i - severe asthmatic who was even worse as a child - wasn't going "fast enough" or "trying hard enough" or whatever. and also generally like the shittiness of not being able to play w your friends or whatever as a kid bc your lungs dont fucking work. so the frustration over this one thing just opened a can of worms that had been marinating for the last 26 years of my life)

(additionally i have placed a LOT on this mentally bc it's my attempt at like cultivating a hobby that involves other people and forcing myself to make friends that live in the same city as me. i've wanted to do this for over a YEAR, i was so excited after i got cleared by my physical therapist, and i also had a cold last week and was frantically doing everything i could to be better again before monday so it was just!!! a lot!!!) (i was better btw and not contagious. still wore a mask to the rink in case i coughed rly gross or smth tho)

i also thought maybe its bc my knees hyperextend REALLY really bad just like in my normal posture so my center of gravity is always all fucked. so on top of my shaky ass legs im trying to combat the entire way my body holds itself and has ALWAYS held itself, while attempting to maintain balance on wheels, and not default to What I Literally Always Do Subconsciously Because That's How My Legs Work. anyway

yesterday it was rainy so i couldnt skate but today i put my skates on and im like. completely fucking fine. not trembling at all, totally capable of remaining upright, maintaining proper form, skating around, everything, even with my fucked up backwards knees. what the hell and fuck

on monday i'd borrowed skates from the rink bc i didnt want to be the only one in new-looking non-derby skates (which i wouldnt have been anyway) so i guess it could be because their skates didnt really fit me right or they're flat and my skates have a heel but like????? why???????? why am i fine now ???????????????????

we have practice again tomorrow and i will ABSOLUTELY be wearing my own skates idgaf how stupid they look i am not putting myself in that position again. i NEED people to know i have functional legs ;_;

I saw something strange at my local Astro-Mart pt. 3

Well despite my better judgment. I took the job at Astro-Mart, and its been pretty weird. So, one of you guys recommended I take a look at the security footage, and so the first time I got a chance to I did. And uh it was kinda weird but also underwhelming. So the footage for the day in question is mostly normal, you can even see the point where the Smorgasbeast was banging on the glass, but the second it would have entered the store, the video skips to what looks like a group of guys in hazmat gear cleaning up the store. Sadly I don’t think Antonio got out, they were cleaning up a very large puddle of blood where I saw him get bit by that thing.

Mostly the job is pretty boring, I clock in at eight and go check the store for anything amiss, you know knocked over shelves, misplaced products, mysterious spills on the floor. That kinda thing, other than that the job is pretty boring, just sitting at the register waiting for customers. Most of the time it’s the “Normal” people from around here coming in to buy snacks, there is also this old lady that comes in and buys almost $30 of scratch-off tickets and a pack of Newports every night at 4 am. I mean seriously who gets up at 4 am and thinks, oh boy time for a smoke! Other than that its pretty much just me in the store by myself, thankfully since I’m on the nightshift I’m allowed to listen to music and stuff, I also get a chair. Well its actually a stool, one of those folding black ones you can get at Wal-Mart for like $10, so its not exactly comfortable but its better than standing for my entire shift lol. But based on what kind of places have kept my story up and the comments I’ll get to the part you are actually interested in.

               I  had my first supernatural experience while working here on my Sunday shift, so it was about 2 AM I was playing Skullgirls Mobile (which is really good you should play it) on my phone, when the door opens and I am hit with this horrid smell, it smelled like a mixture of rotten fish, skunk, bad teenager BO, and that smell urine gets when you eat way too much asparagus. I look to the door, and squeezing his way in is this massive dude, probably about 7 ft. and very overweight he looked like one of the dudes from that “My 600 lbs. Life” show except he was covered in this greenish black hair all over his body that was maybe about a foot long. He walks in and he is eating what after I bit of research found out was probably a Burmese python, like it was drumstick. Anyway he manages to squeeze his way inside and makes his way over to the “Fresh Foods” section. He grabs a Klondike bar, he then shambles over to our coffee machine and makes himself a cup of coffee (2 creams, 2 sugars if you were interested) and brings it to the register. Now when he looked me in the eye I probably would have screamed if I hadn’t been putting all my willpower into not vomiting. But I was pretty freaked out cause he looked at me and smiled and he had teeth like a gorilla, with the superlong insisors (I think that’s the word). But I managed to hold my dinner long enough tell him that his total would be $2.92, the guy then reaches behind him and places three dollars and 50 cents on the counter (all of which were very clean I might add), and then he grabbed his purchases and walked out. Now, I have no real proof this guy was supernatural or anything, I mean this is Florida, people eat roadkill down here so and maybe he has some weird deformities or something. So uh yeah not sure what that was, I kinda hope he doesn’t come back because it smelled like him for the rest of the

Now as for the reason I’m posting today. I had an encounter with the “Tall Man” last night.

Ok so theres this big manual in the office right? And its got all kinds of stuff, like what pattern to clean the floor, when to dispose of hotdogs that have been on the roller (idfk what are in these dogs but they are supposed to stay on the roller for 3 months before I can throw them out, almost certain that’s a healthcode violation but according to the internet they technically be there indefinitely if at the right temp?) anyway so it got all these nice laminated pages, but taped on the inside front cover is a piece of paper that reads:

“The Tall Man

Every other Monday a Tall Russian man in a long coat will walk into the store, when he does tell him:

“Your order is in the back sir, please leave your payment up front”

He will place some money on the counter and then head into the freezer, DO NOT leave the register no matter what you hear until after he leaves the store.”

Well, he came in, and this guy way tall, if I had to guess probably 9 ft? He was hunching over to walk around and he was wearing a long gray military coat, after digging around I think It might be a soviet era military parade overcoat? Anyway he was wearing that, and black pants and boots. He walked up the counter and said in a deep, heavily accented voice:

“Has my orrrder arrrived?”

I responded with, “Your order is in the back s-sir, please leave your p-payment up front” because I was pretty freaked out by this point, plus this guy was intimidating as all get out. Anyway he says:

“Zank you, I vill go get it.” Then he sets what I think are rubles down on the counter and heads into the freezer. I do my best to sort through the crumpled up notes and put them in the register, and after a few minutes he walks back through the store carrying two huge boxes labeled “Meat” and walks out the door, he then steps off the sidewalk and vanishes into thin air.

Not sure what to think of that, and honestly I don’t feel as freaked out as I probably should be? Maybe its cause I knew what to expect going in? Not sure, right now I am uh, not sure how to describe it, its like my emotions are muffled? I guess? Not sure how else to describe the feeling?

As to the removal of my post on r/nosleep, not sure what to do about that, the complaints where that I was “out of character” too much? How can I be out of character in a post about events occurring in my life? So I don’t think I will be posting there anymore. re: Sirenity's strength+endurance: 1) sorta! big MT bumped her STR from 8 to 10 b/c of the Reinforced Spine perk, and i've considered having him get the endurance implant from Dr. Usanagi but it's more thematically relevant to have that 10th END point be from the one you can get at the end of the Lonesome Road dlc. so. we'll see if i can decide on that

2) oh yeah they DEFINITELY crash and burn multiple times. i think the keyword there is “burn”. Sirenity is as brilliant and terrible as the sun. and the sun is always burning! can't you feel it?

Constantine doesn't get why mirelurks and mirelurk kings and mirelurk hunters are all called "mirelurks" because those are all? pretty different looking species? begrudgingly accepting of it on the basis of "well, the name tells you where they live and how they'll try to jump you" which is, honestly, one of the best ways to name something in the wasteland. re: Sirenity's potential place problems: hoookay how do i explain this... it's not that they have a problem with the Enviroments. that's just How The Place Is! not the Place's fault! they can't get mad at the Place! it's that there's People issues.

he spent most of OWB in a state of incredulous "sure, this might as well fucking happen" so nothing was really hitting as it should've. the Divide is Like That because of people problems, and sure, they're more used to open roads, but it's not like they're a stranger to that sort of environment. the canyons of Zion make them mildly uncomfortable in a purely tactical sense; they don't like being funnelled in like that, and they don't like that they might not see the people who have the high ground.

Sirenity doesn't like thinking of people as a variable to be worked around, is only begrudgingly accepting of it as Something You Have To Do Sometimes, and kinda hates that they've accepted it. poor ol' loverboy.

re: Constantine v. Diamond City v. Goodneighbor: there's too much of the parts of pre-war living that Constantine hated condensed into one spot for him to like Diamond City much at all. the social structure, the whole Having A Wall Will Fix Everything Actually mentality, the cops, the way the neighbours try their damned hardest to find anything even remotely wrong or different about you so they can out you as a commie synth, the cramped buildings, the ratrace.

the wall to Goodneighbor isn't a fix-everything wall, it's just a fact of wasteland living. the gate doesn't close on it's own. he still has his qualms with the place (the cops rebranded as the thing that encouraged neighbours to spy on eachother, the lack of harm reduction past destigmatization [which is an issue with the game's production at it's core but is still fun to think about literally], the whole?? democratic oligarch anarchy??? thing????) but the residents making an active point to not give a flying fuck about who you are? that definitely helps.

Evariste Lemarque is the latest minor character to ascend in DA's time-honored tradition of Ascended Extras. he was a neat side NPC, I'm looking forwards to seeing his expanded backstory/characterization etc, I love it when DA side characters get some spotlight & fleshing out tbh. he makes sense as a group leader given his history leading the Watcher's Reach refugees. given his appearance in the scene with Cass and Leli and the fact that he can be recruited in DAI as an Inquisition Agent, I guess he is the group's Inquisition contact and that the group are being sent on this quest on behalf of/at the behest of the Inquisition (or Inquisition remnants timeperiod depending). it reminds me a bit of Bull's Charger's, Sutherland's Company, Vaea and co, and the adventuring group questing on behalf of the Inquisition in Genetivi Dies in the End. like a show about an Inquisition War Table mission :) very cool!! the world feels more alive and dynamic when we have the sense that lots of things are happening in the background off-screen around the games

3 fighters, 2 mages and Miriam/a thief, sounds like the classic DA and RPG party with a team leader setup.

I am once again wondering if, given the heist and thieves plotline, some ideas and aspects from Joplin (with its "spies and heists, secret heroes nobody knows about" vision) were rolled into Absolution. I am also once again thinking about the Magrallen. so our latest macguffin is an extremely dangerous likely Tevinter magical artifact fuelled by blood magic, while the Magrallen was a Tevinter magical device also powered by blood magic which dates back to ancient times, the time of the Dreamers. Titus was using the Magrallen to augment his power, with the intent of restoring Tevinter's greatness using his augmented Dreamer powers to do mind control and brainwashing. he talked about how the ancient Dreamers commanded the fade, "mages sculpting dreams. Dreams sculpting reality". Rezaren also seems to want to build some kind of new, better, grand future for Tevinter regardless of the cost, albeit one that's more righteous and better for everyone involved not just those in power (and the question posed then is: is it ok to fix Tevinter, and create a better future for everyone in it from all parts of the society, if the cost of that is mindcontrolling everyone or whatever else? reminds me a bit of the questions posed by the Control and Synthesis endings in ME). maybe the Circulum Infinitus is a small, mobile/portable version of the Magrallen? it presumably does something similar or adjacent at least. blood magic (and Rezaren appears to be a blood mage) already allows for mind control. With a portable macguffin that boosts blood magic powers, a blood mage could probably mind control many, many people, maybe even a nation or the whole magocracy (all those in power in Tevinter)

the hooded figure with many eyes is tied to the Pride Demon I'm sure

seen a few folks wonder if the horned silhouette is Iron Bull, I don't think this is the case, I think it's the dragon skull/dead dragon from 0:12 in the Absolution teaser trailer

maybe Rezaren and possibly also Tassia are the children of the woman who enslaved Miriam before? Rezaren and the woman's hairstyles and clothes look kind of similar, and that could explain why he's (if it's him) the man at the heart of Miriam's misery. and isn't the flaming sword symbol on Tassia's hammer a version of the Templar symbol? the Imperial Templar Order falls under the authority of the Magisters and the Tevinter Circle of Magi. so for Tassia, as she's dutiful and hardworking, as a dutiful Imperial Templar that could be why she's aiding Rezaren, and her character's personal conflict will be about how much she's willing to stand by and let happen for 'the good of Tevinter', and where exactly she draws the line. if they're siblings, she'd be a non-magic scion of a noble magic house (if Rezaren being born into privilege is anything to go by), and therefore perhaps feel duty-bound to contribute towards the greatness of her house and country in her own, non-magical way, in lieu of being a mage herself.

it threw me for a loop a bit that Matt Mercer isn't voicing the character that looks like Matt Mercer hh

with the way Rezaren sees himself, and the prideful notion he has that he should be the one to build a better Tevinter.. he sounds like precisely the kind of person who would be susceptible to a Pride demon. haha we in danger

what could Hira's secret be? maybe she is a blood mage, that learned the power in order to help her crusade? with her crusade against Tevinter, I wonder if she has crossed paths with Dorian, Mae and the Lucerni

the most powerful man in Tevinter: the Archon? the Black Divine? Rezaren? I wonder if our group are stealing the Circulum from Rezaren or if both they and Rezaren are opposing forces both trying to steal it at the same time from the most powerful man in Tevinter.

Have you ever thought that Shoto could be more creative with his quirk? I love the Phosphor move he came up with, but apart from that I’d love to see him do more stuff apart from throwing up big ice walls or spamming fire. I think even Stain made a comment about how reliant he is on his quirks alone. That was season 2 and I thought after all that time we’d see him do some more creative stuff. There’s no reason why someone with such a versatile quirk should just be throwing up ice and fire walls alone. He’s my fav and I wanna see him do some cooler stuff

Please don't mindlessly just repeat fandom slander of Shouto if he's your fave and engage in evidence instead. This is like saying that Bakugou only ever throws around explosions, which is true but also totally misleading.

Yes, Shouto is not a close-combat fighter - his quirk is more suited to mid- to long range, and he relies on his quirk, but really who doesn't? Maybe Midoriya in finger-breaking stage, but once he learnt to use it, he's been relying on OFA to do everything for him too.

As for "only ice and fire-walls" - well, no. That's plain wrong. Shouto's moves are much more broad-ranging than that.

An ever-evolving Heaven-Piercing Ice-Wall

There is a very visible evolution from the first one we saw - it grew in scale and precision throughout the series (even in the SF, Aizawa notes how different the ice wall against Bakugou is vs the icewall against Sero) and he's able to shape it in an instant. Ok, yeah, it's icewall, but it evolves. Look at him countering Decay, or catching 6-quirk Deku mid-flight.

2. Smart, precision ice moves is something we saw from Shouto from the start. Saving All Might at USJ. Outwitting Iida. Or when he like froze an entire building - the move that freaked Bakugou out. None of these are ice-walls.

3. Slides, ramps - getting better, bigger, more precise. None of these are walls

4. Flash Freeze Heat Wave - the evolution from huge, uncontrolled move to something much more precise and usable in urban combat or as a sudden boost. Not an icewall or firewall.

5. From fire wall to flashfire fist to jet kindling (which is Jet Burn). Like those last two are not firewalls at all. They actually meant to make Shouto better at close range, which he is now.

6. Let's not forget his mobility. He's able to keep pace with some of the fastest characters. Did I mention he learnt to fly? Also, check out his cool ice-wave that can carry people with less mobility. Not an icewall!

7. Oh, I forgot to mention the bit where he made shish-kebab out of Shigaraki. Ice-spikes, maybe? It's also precise enough to completely avoid Aizawa

8. He's also tactical (All Might and Deku both say so) and is able to come up with battle plans or combo moves himself. I already mentioned the Iida fight, but he also outsmarted a bunch of ninja guys in the Licensing exam and came up with a combo with Inasa on the fly.

Also note, that usually he's not tactical / unable to think when he's going though PTSD flashbacks like in the Sport Festival or JTA or you know having to fight his own dead brother after a dramatic reveal in an already stressful war.

9. Phosphor which is a technique, as much as a move-set. Shouto invented it himself and it can be used in different ways. There is Pale Blade (a slicing move) and Glacial Aegir (a AoE freezing move) from what we've seen so far.

Considering Shouto is not done yet in the final arc, I think we will see more from him to synthetize everything he learnt. But I hope this helps to convince you that even though he started from a very high level, he did go through an amazing quirk evolution, has one of the most versatile move-sets in class and is not the "simpleton icewall/firewall guy" fandom slanders him as.

He's a different type of fighter than Bakugou or Deku - but also they both rely on their quirks in fight. Everyone does - and depending on the quirk people have more or less martial arts moves.

Shouto does what makes sense for his quirk and has come a long way even though he started out "better than the average pro". And more importantly, his arc is about healing and overcoming trauma, so yes, he makes mistakes and falters from time to time, because healing is not linear. But he learns from it every time. He learns from all his failures and grows with them and that what makes his arc good. If he was just an "always competent, can do everything perfectly on first try" Mary Sue, it would hurt his story.
