Hi, long time monster high collector here. I definitely like her design and the cultural elements, but one thing I would like to put into perspective a lot of the complaints are more about Mattel ignoring the community as a whole. At least from a collector stand point, I am not super familiar with the cultures they used for the details and inspiration, and I personally think she looks very pretty. I quite like the hand made look and all the details in her design. And as for the body being able to separate, I also think that is really cool. Basically I want to make clear I'm not complaining about her design because for a good amount of collectors it's not about her design or origins, as far as I've seen personally in the discourse.
From a collector perspective, mattel has had a long running issue with the collector dolls being incredibly expensive, like more so than is reasonable, and very low quality. Unfortunately for them they set the bar very high as older collector dolls had much more detailed outfits and accessories and were made with higher quality materials. The complaints about this particular doll and the majority of the ones that have come out before her in the last few years are due to the drop in quality with a raise in price.
This doll just two years ago would have been $30-45usd, and that was reasonable for a collector doll with her level of detail and interesting body. Unfortunately she's $75usd, and while I have purchased collectors in that range before they had more details on their outfits and accessories, and came with specially decorated stands. This one has a unique stand but it's just a basic black stand that's been modified.
They have been using cheaper material for clothing, like costume tulle and satin with those emoji patterns instead of patterns that actually fit the characters. Mixing that with the minimum details or paint of the accessories, and the fact that the over all materials are lower quality, even if the dolls design is mostly good it just doesn't justify the cost.
Comparing her to another doll with an embroidery pattern,

This Draculaura was an exclusive collector that went around $100usd if I remember correctly, but all of her details were actually embroidered. She had a unique body type that no other MH has had since, and came in a coffin display box, as well as inset eyelashes and a unique face sculpt with shimmering plastic. The new one is very pretty, but I feel like she deserves a better outfit pattern detail than just a bloody heart picnic pattern. I'd actually love it more if it had more of the hand stitching look from her wings and fan. I'm pretty sure they used a fabric they made for the Tiffany collector doll instead of giving her a new pattern for herself.
Basically, this new doll is beautiful, has a very interesting folk lore, and is almost hitting the mark on being amazing for a brand new character. But for reasons that aren't her fault, Mattel has dropped the ball for so long on pricing and quality its just soured peoples taste unfortunately. She's hitting a similar issue as Lenore Loomington, good design, price is too high.
I'm by no means agreeing with anyone who's been rude about this doll from a cultural standpoint, but I wanted to explain the collector discourse in detail.
Honestly I would have bought her at release if she were around $50usd, but $75 is just too much for the quality of material I know I'd be getting rn. I'm hoping I'll be able to get her eventually, but I can totally understand the irritation after so long of the community being ignored.
too many ppl who know nothing about Filipino folklore n culture r talking shit about my ate. she’s based off of the manananggal, which you can compare to the European vampire, if that helps you understand it better. although, i’m reluctant to mention that becuz some ppl, who choose to be ignorant, currently hold the view that she’s just an Asian-colored vampire mishmash monster. she is not. other than the fact that she manages to exist at all, here are some details i appreciate about her.

first, she has a face that looks like my family’s. that’s my lola’s nose. that’s my mom’s birthmark. shit, those are my uncle’s cheekbones. the headpiece features jasmine, our national flower. the translucent petals are cool.

second, you can display her in two pieces, split by the torso. its not just a “cheap gimmick” you ignorant pos. at nightfall, the manananggal severs itself in two, leaving behind a vulnerable lower half while its upper half hunts for nourishment - blood, raw hearts, livers, fetuses. the red fringe represents her dangling intestines, hanging loose as she flies after ripping her body apart. the string detail is on the skirt for consistency, but also, intestines are long as fuck? why wouldn’t they also hang from the bottom, assuming they also get split in half.

while we’re on the outfit, the top is an extremely traditional (Spanish colonial, ugh) style in both fabric and shape. i have attire that looks exactly like it, minus the monster high red foil pattern. the tiny, “woven” sleeve cuffs are a nice touch. the earrings and bracelets look to be woven palm too, but aren’t as effective in plastic. the bottom half skirt is quite a bit shorter than is traditional, and the heels higher. it’s a monster high doll.

most accurate would be barefoot, tbh. but you guys would riot, and again, its a doll. actually, the shoes reference a lot from Filipino culture. the heel is a coconut tree overlooking a kubo, a one-room stilt hut built with natural materials such as bamboo and palm, and specifically made to be remade as necessary. the sole is “wooden”, also an accessible material of which some shoes were made with. it is attached by braid to what looks to be a straw strap. also not unusual for a shoe.

her fan and wings feature embroidery, and if you look closely at the latter, you will see a thin and delicate flora design in between the spider web pattern. this is extremely reminiscent of calado, a type of traditional hand embroidery akin to lace that is difficult as fuck. a dying art, btw.

i didn’t wake up looking to ride this hard for a plastic woman lmao. but if you’re gonna come for her, it better be because of the fluorescent green in her colorway and not because you don’t know what you’re talking about. honestly, a lot of Filipinos are just happy to be considered and celebrated. “wins” like this mean everything. maybe it’s not good enough for your collection, but now you know more about my culture than you would’ve gone out of your way to. and that’s good enough for me.

Hello dear, may I ask one shot of Shadow Milk x Reader who act a lot like Furina from Genshin Impact?
(Also can I be the 🦢 anon?)
hello 🦢 anon! of course you may! i'm a big fan of furina hehe ^_^
---
CURTAIN CALL FOR TWO
; shadow milk cookie x furina-esque!reader
(for the non genshin people reading this, furina is super dramatic and flamboyant like smilk!)
two jesters, two masters of the stage. when shadow milk cookie's curiosity is piqued by a another flamboyant performer whose charm captivates earthbread itself, he refuses to stand idly by. is this a game of wit and wiles, or has shadow milk finally met his match?
(no warnings, sfw)
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂☆
the grand stage of earthbread was never dull, but tonight? tonight, it shimmered with an unparalleled brilliance.
the spotlight gleamed upon a singular figure standing tall in the center of an extravagant balcony, posture poised, chin lifted in undeniable confidence. draped in the most opulent of outfits, you leaned forward ever so slightly, surveying the bustling square below with the grandeur of a ruler addressing their devoted subjects.
"ah, such admiration! such devotion! how utterly exhausting it is to be the one and only beacon of magnificence in this dreary little world!" you exclaimed, dramatically pressing the back of your hand to your forehead. "but fear not, dear audience, for i am ever so generous with my presence!" a smirk graced your lips as scattered applause and laughter arose from the onlookers, utterly captivated by your charisma.
however, not all were quite so easily charmed.
a slow clap echoed through the air, exaggerated and deliberate. "my, my. such a performance! if i didn't know any better, i would think you were auditioning to take my place!" the teasing voice slithered through the air, laced with amusement and challenge alike.
your eyes snapped to the side, only to find none other than shadow milk cookie himself perched in the air, one leg lazily dangling as he smirked down at you. "i must say, i do so love a display of theatrics. but you? you have the audacity to demand the spotlight itself. how… ambitious."
you scoffed, flicking a wrist in a dismissive yet undeniably elegant gesture. "ambition? no, no, you misunderstand! this world is simply too dull without someone of my caliber to elevate it! can you imagine, a place without my dazzling presence?!"
shadow milk cookie grinned, flipping down from his perch in an exaggerated flourish of his cape. "oh, but how ever does one shine so bright without casting a shadow, hmm? and what a fine shadow i would make!" he twirled on his heel, bowing deeply. "wouldn't you agree, my most esteemed rival?"
"rival?" you gasped, placing a hand over your chest as if scandalized. "what a dreadful assumption! you misunderstand yet again! we are not rivals, we are inevitable! a duet so grand, so spectacular, that earthbread itself shall tremble beneath our brilliance!" you stepped forward, arms spread wide as if embracing the mere thought of such a sight. "imagine it: two stars, burning ever so brightly, dazzling every onlooker foolish enough to lay their unworthy eyes upon us!"
shadow milk cookie chuckled, stroking his chin in exaggerated thought. "hmm. a tempting proposition! but tell me, are you certain you can handle sharing the stage?" he leaned in ever so slightly, voice dropping to a playful whisper. "or are you merely afraid of being outshined?"
your eyes widened for but a moment before you let out an exaggerated gasp, stepping back with a hand clutching your chest. "me? afraid?! absurd! impossible! a preposterous notion of the highest order!" you twirled, regaining your composure in an instant, a confident smirk returning to your lips. "no, i fear nothing! and if you so dare question my brilliance, then i have but one solution."
shadow milk cookie tilted his head, intrigued. "oh? do tell."
you extended a hand, eyes gleaming with undeniable mischief. "we shall perform. together. a spectacle so grand that the world itself shall be left breathless!" you leaned in, voice dropping to a near-whisper. "unless, of course, you are the one who is afraid."
shadow milk cookie stilled for but a moment before a delighted grin spread across his face. "oh, you are devious! i do love that! very well, dear performer. let us see if your stage is grand enough for the both of us. but be warned…" he reached out, grasping your hand with a flourish as his form seemed to shimmer between the lines of reality. "this is a game of illusions, and i never lose."
you only laughed, eyes sparkling. "then let the show begin!"

Defending Ending 2
Okay I've seen a lot of discourse around the "True Ending" of Clinical Trial and I just wanted to give my take on it. Spoilers under the cut
I know a lot of people didn't like Ending 2's light and happier tone and it being the True Ending and felt like it absolved Lee of any consequences and just put Angel in a dangerous shitty position, isolated with a murderer and argue that it goes against the whole point of the game… But I just really don't view it like that. To me, Ending 2 reinforces some of the game's central themes surrounding consent, neurodivergency and societal neglect.
While I do think Lee can be manipulative (ESPECIALLY in the Reject route) and consistently hides things from Angel, I do think the Accept route that leads into Ending 2/the True Ending is a product of Angel's own anatomy as much as Ending 1 is. While Angel chooses to forgive him initally for the shrine thing, they don't dismiss or downplay what he did either. While they do display some unhealthy thought patterns (the idea that they never thought someone would ever pay so much attention to them <- which is a belief absolutely fueled by self hatred) that could contribute to their forgiveness, they don't let that blind them from the inherent fucked upness of what Lee's done. This isn't a "Wow, you did nothing wrong. Let's date!" situation. It's a "You fucked up and you hurt me but I'm willing to give you another chance, if you change for the better" situation.
Same thing with the revelation of the murder. Angel does not downplay how upset they are to appease him. Even when they acknowledge Lee killing Brandon probably prevented him from harming future victims as he's a repeated offender who likely wouldn't stop, Angel still acknowledge that Lee didn't know that when he killed him. Angel is consistently able to voice their grievances with him and call him out on the wrongness of his actions, which is why I feel pretty comfortable stating that Lee and Angel's relationship, no matter how fucked up, toxic or unhealthy, is not an abusive one because Angel is always able to voice their issues with him and he is more than willing to listen.
The player, and by extension, Angel is also explicitly given the choice on whether or not to forgive him with both revelations (I especially like that Angel's given the choice to basically back out of the relationship, even after they accept the shrine thing, after the murder reveal), highlighting their agency. Yes, you can absolutely argue that Angel's decision to forgive Lee twice is likely influenced by their loneliness and need for connection and that does make their relationship a bit unhealthy (and interesting/hj) but again I don't think it's abusive.
I also want to point out that even if the Accept route, Angel gives Lee conditions. They don't just accept him willy-nilly. They want him to actually listen to them.
I think that Angel's ultimate decision to forgive Lee isn't just to date him, it's to give him another chance at becoming a better, more rounded person. A large part of the whole game is about how society (the education system and the medical system) tends to fail neurodivergent people, especially those most in need of help. Angel and Lee literally bond over their different experiences of neurodivergency (or implied neurodivergency on Lee's end) and how ultimately society failed both of them (with neither of them managing to succeed in ways they wanted because the system wasn't built for people like them).
There's also the prevalent mentions and implications of past punishments that we can observe through some of Lee's dialogue. He's canonically an ex Mormon, who was probably consistently punished (and abused) for any wrongdoing (some of which we can assume could come down to traits of his neurodivergency as it's not too uncommon for autistic children to get misunderstood and mistreated). Similarly, we know that Angel was put some level of physical abuse and mistreatment by their school in an attempt to "correct" their left handedness and even then it's implied that's only one example of them being abused by the education system.
Both Lee and Angel know what it's like to be punished and hurt after displaying a 'weakness' or a mistake. They've both been hurt by the notion that punishment is necessary to improve a person, which is why I find the Accept route so powerful. I've seen a lot of people complain that Lee doesn't go to jail or face "tangible" consequences but the way I see it, prison would make him worse and remove any chance he has of healing. While fucked up, illegal and his fault, his actions are still partially a product of his upbringing and the lack of support and therapy for him. He specifically mentions that he never went to therapy so he could get his job. Lee is partially the product of an unaccomodating society as much as Angel is. (Also I could go on for hours about how his Mormon upbringing probably skewed his entire view on how relationships are supposed to function and probably made him think love has to be in the form of devotion)
The way I interpreted it. Angel wasn't coerced into staying with a dangerous, harmful person. Angel sees parts of themselves in Lee and is giving Lee a chance neither of them were ever given in a life. They're creating a new life together where mistakes and fuck ups aren't instantly met with punishment or harm. Yes, Lee fucked up horrendously, violating their trust and ignored their wishes but they're both willing to acknowledge that and work on it because maybe for once, one of them's allowed to fucked up without facing an abusive 'punishment' afterwards. Maybe for once, one of them's allowed to fuck up and be given room to grow and improve. And maybe for once, Angel gets to choose how they want their life to go.
No, most people probably wouldn't have made the same choices as Angel but its still their decision to make. Yes, it's likely influenced by their pre existing loneliness and trauma. Yes, Lee would have to put a lot of work in to change himself and that will take time and there's likely some unhealthy beliefs he'll always struggle with. Yes, Lee and Angel's relationship is far from conventional or completely healthy, but fuck man, I think they're giving eachother room to figure it out together and idk, there's something beautiful about that to me.
They're both very mentally ill but they're trying and there's something about that that I find oddly comforting. Most media with the yandere trope never really provide the option for the yandere character to actually try to reflect on their actions and maybe learn better ways to cope and honestly I was so sure that both endings would involve someone dying in some way because these types of stories don't tend to go well. Usually, after a certain point, a character's just framed as "too" far gone, "too" mentally ill, "too" fucked up and beyond saving and they usually die a tragic or poetic death (i.e like Ending 1). But Angel looks at Lee and his actions and decides fuck it and to say no to that. They make the choice to give Lee another chance any way after what he's done because they don't see him as irredeemable. I just really like the way they both get to live in the end and make a better life together and what that says about neurodivergent and mentally ill people.
#ALSO. I feel the need to say. I do like Lee's fucked upness. I think it adds a lot to his character. I just also feel like the game doesn't#exactly glorify those traits of his (unlike what some ppl have said) and treats them more like things he needs to work through#clinical trial#clinical trial game#angel martinez#lee smith#<- feel like i couldve also touched on how lee's one of the most RELATIVELY palatable and decent yandere esque characters ive ever seen lik#and how he feels a lot more grounded in reality <- tbh i totally understand why someone would be uncomfortable by his character. i just.#disagree with a lot of the discourse around the ending that i feel ignores some of the nuances#txt#clinical trial ending 2#clinical trial true ending#analysis

I keep seeing a lot of misinterpretation when it comes to Ayato's and Yui's relationship, which is completely understandable.
BUT, I feel like we should at least be open to understanding their dynamic a bit more, considering that their relationship is a representation of how these two fleshed out, individual characters with their own archetypes and narratives interact with one another, and the kind of chemistry that festers between the two.
I heavily emphasize on the "understanding" part, because yes, they are 2D characters, but I'd like to go on a whim here and say the creators used these fictional people as a sort of criticism on the kind of society we live in, and how we as people view the differences between good and bad and where the line starts to blur and intertwines.
People will often mistake Ayato's abuse and trauma as just his personality entirely, which while his past may have had affected the way he interacts with others, I'd like to say that it doesn't absorb him completely, and to back this up, I'd like to reference Laito.
Unlike the rest of his brothers, Laito is completely unique to us the viewers, because of his lack of actuality and genuinity. Yes we can attribute both traits, or rather, lack thereof, to the other brothers, but at their core, they all have a defining cause, a motivation, something that separates them from their trauma. And they don't consistently hide it, they don't hide what makes them, them.
So when talking about Ayato, I feel like people look at his trauma and immediately think "he's selfish and stuck up because he was raised to be the best", BUT, who else do we know that was raised to be the best??
That's right, Shu. Shu was quite literally raised to be king of the bat clan. But yet, him and Ayato have two completely different personalities, so I'd like to say there must be that defining factor in there that causes and pushes them to be the way they are. I'd also like to take this chance to say, this is where I think the creators are giving a certain critique on child rearing and whether or not you've grown to be hysterical, maniacal, sadistic, masochistic, unmotivated, competitive, etc. it all stems from a greater problem within society and no matter HOW different you might think yourself to be, the root cause of multiple personality disorders, comes from child abuse. Which we can see just how far it spirals, evil breeds evil after all, and in this case the "evil" here, being attributed to domestic abuse.
(Sort of like a Neon Genesis Evangelion thing going on)
But anyways, I digress.
What I'm trying to get at is, he's quite LITERALLY more than his trauma. We often forget that he's a vampire and has lived through thousands of years, falling in and out of love and lust. Due to the very nature of being a vampire, it's clear to see that Ayato's unaccustomed to growing attached to, in their world, a piece of chocolate or even an old burger. (Yes I am referencing Spongebob, sue me) it'd be seen as stupid to begin to form feelings and bond with your food, unnatural even. I think a large part that makes up Ayato is the fact he's always in doubt of himself, even when he thinks he's known everything, some mystical force out there has to prove him wrong and shake his very system of belief. Rupture everything he's ever known and everything he's ever grown up knowing and practicing. This is why he'll often be seen taking out his frustrations on Yui, because like it or not, she is the cause of his turmoil, paired with his trauma.
I think this is where it's important we understand their dynamics because it goes a loooot deeper than their characters might even seem capable of.
I'll do another post talking about Yui tomorrow and then one final one explaining where they fit into each other and how their character archetypes pair really well, even if it's not the healthiest relationship, it still displays their characters in their truest forms

I don't actually have a specific question for you I just want to give you some of my theories because I like to read your opinion . You always give me an interest perspective that really hard to ignore.
Strike while the iron is hot, is the main reason why the Vees suppose to be the main Antagonist in season 2
Like the Cold War, There would not be a direct fight between 2 parties (I doubt they would be actually a physical fight since Vox, Valentino and Velvette aren't fighter or tanks-they're mages). They will use information as their bullet and Media as their gun.
With what happened in season 1 they might use the footage from the fight to provoke or encourage sinners to fight back against Heaven. They could use Lilith’s resistance campaign, with Charlie leading her friends in a fight against Adam and Lucifer come to the rescue at the end, proving that Hell’s royalty is on their side.
Not only that they can show that there are 3 Overlord support this idea by given their help to Charlie
Carmilla, who provides weapons training and battle strategies.
Rosie, who gave Charlie her Cannibals allies.
Alastor, with his assistance.
There has been a hint about this agenda since Season 1, Episode 3. Velvette didn't care who killed an angel she wanted to provoke all the Overlords in that meeting to fight. Why? Because if they win, the Vees can claim it was their idea. But if they lose, the Vees will be the last ones standing since they didn’t actually want to participate (as seen in Season 1, Episode 8). This way, they can take power from those who were defeated.
"If we rush to war without knowing might they purge all of hell for getting and uprising." -Zestial-
In the worst-case scenario, With Hotel incident and Exorcist army has been defeat. Heaven might hold Lucifer responsible, since he is the King and he supposed to keep his people in check. Meanwhile, the Vees won’t lose anything. They are smart and can manipulate their way out of trouble, ensuring the future of Hell belongs to them.
(I have theories on a heaven side too but it would be too long so...)
About Velvette unhealthy obsession with Vaggie in season 2 from your previous posts.
My thought in Velvette obsession in Vaggie is She want Vaggie for herself as an exotic pet for her content (like a spoiled influencer) . Since Vaggie being an angel is no longer a secret, and angels are not a common beings in Hell, this mean Vaggie is like a rare-expensive-exotic animal from different habitat. Velvette could make a lot of content from her and possibly draw attention from creepy-rich demos who like collecting rare things-similar to how Americans and Europeans in the 19th century displayed their cabinets of curiosities.
If these happen Vaggie life will be on the line because everyone know Angel can be killed by angelic steel Carmilla won't stop selling it not because her main product are from angelic steel (Recommend not to read; I don't understand some people who think if there no longer a extermination Carmilla power would be decress because she can't get new angelic steel anymore. B**** , She also selling weapon component ref; Pentious bought weapon component from her in Season 1, Episode 3 . Not only that, from Season 1, Episode 2; Vox's Angelic security, he need Carmilla help to create make them and since in that episode no one know that angelic steel can kill an angels yet he want her industry to make Machine parts for his angelic security. Carmilla own a huge part of Pride Ring; Industrial between Entertainment District own by the Vees and Carnnibal Town own by Rosie's. Carmilla may know by arms dealer but If you only be notable is you selling weapon that come from the sky every once a year and one day those angels be self conscious about they dropping their weapon your business would gone. I think she only sell it by use it as a component on some important part that would be use for kill the enemy instant)
From Helluva Boss Season 1 Episode 5 ; A genuine Carmine-Crafted Blessing-Tipped Rifle; The Bold word is the part that use angelic steel. In this episode, The antagonist of this episode use this rifle to kill Stolas which is a high class demon ; A prince from a Goetia which can't be killed by normal weapon.
(I think I'm out of a topic, Sorry . if you interest about my angelic steel theories please tell me when you share your opinion about my post)
but because if she decide to act out not only she showing to Vaggie that she think Vaggie is not strong enough to protect herself and also show that she have a close relationship with an angel and It will put her in a tough spot.
Velvette can use this as an opportunity to attack Charlie and ruin Charlie's reputation.
Charlie is the Princess of Hell, yet she wouldn't even able to protect her girlfriend from harm and media, while Velvette swoops in as the "hero."(The Vees are two faced; they act differently depending on who they're dealing with.) Vaggie, being sensible, would immediately suspect Velvette has an agenda behind her kindness, but with all cameras on her, she wouldn't be able to react too strongly.
Since the truth about Vaggie being an exorcist angel is now public, she has to act non-threatening as possible-otherwise, people might start seeing her as a danger because it's not good for hotel business which it a service-minded.
As the hotel manager, she is the face of the hotel, meaning she has to maintain a calm and collected image.(In the animatic from Season 2 that was official released, we see her trying to handle the reporters in civilized way.) She has to stay composed to prevent any damage to the hotel's reputation.
Charlie, on the other hand, has anger issues. Velvet would use it to provoking her like how Vaggie was the main one handling the training, and if they discuss how they got all the weapons , Charlie could be seen as a bad and controlling partner-someone who sent her girlfriend into a tiger's den to get weapons to fight against her own kind, former comrades included (Every one seen it from Vox's spy drone footages)
She might badmounth Charlie while praising Vaggie infront of both of them, playing on her self-hatred. Velvette could tell Vaggie how brave and dedicatied she is, How Charlie take Vaggie for granted and Charlie is just using her for convenience as a sacrificial lamb-only to abandon her once she becomes useless.
Vaggie obviously wouldn't buy it and try to separate Charlie from Velvette or tell her to keep a cool head , but like what happened in "You didn't know" Charlie would ignore and try to argue. However, Velvette would twist her words and use them against her, causing Charlie to start doubting herself. As her frustration grows, it would eventually lead to an outburst. Possibly, Velvette would use Charlie's ex-boyfriend to add fuel to the fire via social media.
I am thinking too much . Maybe Velvette has her obsession with Vaggie because she don't want to left alone when Vox and Valentino have their obsession with Alastor and Angel and she have none. Since both of them have a similar height, looks perfect as a Goth ,possibly the youngest of the gang and the sensible one. She just want to drag Vaggie everywhere for shopping sprees and makeovers, similar to the Regina and Cady dynamic in Mean Girls.
Also I really like your fic; Unholy. When I read to a part Angel told Charlie about Velvette and Odette something come to my mind. I really want to draw short comic about it but sadly I have school work to do.
(I have a story and Idea but have no time for god sake!)
So I'm going to drop a line art of Carmilla reaction on this

for context; Someone has witness Velvette doing unholy challenge to Odette and send it to Camilla when she having a meeting. A mother is always possessed by a mysterious strength when her child is in danger.(Nah, except that Kaiju lady-none of these overlord have a chance to fight Carmilla in a physical fight)
I like the ideas you're throwing out there! The Vees using politics and manipulation tactics to get the upper hand against the Hotel falls in line with what I expect too. I'm not sure about the lack of fighting though. The Vees are still overlords, and according to the show's lore owning souls makes a demon more powerful right? I don't think they lack raw power at all. Valentino said Alastor and Vox fought each other before he disappeared, and it looks like Alastor had a hard time in that fight. The fact that Alastor's victory against Vox was inconclusive must say a lot about Vox's strength at least.
The angel thing when it comes to Vaggie and Velvette is an angle I totally agree with. Something that i want -- though not necessarily something I'm sure is possible -- is for Vaggie and Velvette's encounters to happen because of Charlie's need to advertise her Hotel. Getting the Overlord of social media to help out would be a great advantage, and Vaggie could be the one talking to Velvette the most about it since she's the Hotel Manager. So while Charlie is busy with plot things, Vaggie would be left with a lot of alone time with Velvette, who will notice Charlie's neglect and use this to swoop in.
(Also. Super small thing. But if Charlie being 200+ and Vaggie having died in her twenties in the 2010's is still canon, that would mean she's around Velvette's age biologically AND chronologically and won't it be funny to see Velvette say Charlie's too old for Vaggie lol Don't tell me she wouldn't reach and stoop that low bcuz she totally would)
Love the art btw! I know how hard it is to draw so many full body characters with a dynamic pose. Oh this would be so funny to see lmaoo

Ya know, I absolutely loved that Blue lock prompt with Fem Sae and fem Rin with Sae cheating and breaking up with male reader. So how about a part 2.
In the U-20 game, M.reader is actually one of the people initially on the bench and is a substitute. And like the other substitutes, he's a trump player. The reason is that ego noticed that Y/N Ego notices something that m.reader has been playing soccer in a way that doesn't suite his body he's been playing like a power type basically when In fact, Y/N is like Loki and chigiri in that he's insanely fast, but unlike them, it doesn't seem to actively use it or is aware of it since it's sporadic. So, of course, Ego, being who he is, points it out to him and has him train based around it. So when Y/N starts on the field, almost everyone doesn't think he's gonna matter as much compared to people like Barou, hiori, and Reo, especially sae. That is until he takes off and displays Loki levels of speed, shocking all the players and audience.
Blue lock eleven vs u-20 Japan part 1

Pairing:fem!rin itoshi x male reader
A/n:I know two blue lock posts in a row but I genuinely like this au (from now on its gonna become a series) and especially this request (thanks so much for requesting it) so much I just had to do it also I've just been itching to write in the style of an actual blue lock match for a while so this is my opportunity.
Like I said before this will be a series and part 2 of the u-20 match will come out in a couple of days probably next week and then I already have so many ideas for the bastard münchen vs pxg match with y/n so let me know if you have any more ideas for that or anything else.
This is a part 2 to this post
It pained you that you didn't get chosen as a player in the starting formation for the blue lock 11, after all your only objective was to destroy sae, but rin was quick to comfort you about it telling you that you would definitely get subbed in and that ego was wrong for not putting you in from the start when you were literally number 2 in the second selected with her.
"I will fight sae until you come in and then we can destroy her together"
".....thank you"
Your special training was a lot harsher than what you usually went through running around for what felt like hours, your legs were burning and hurting every time but you endured it because you needed to be strong enough to achieve your goal:destroy and beat the girl who broke your heart.
During the match you watched closely from the bench, you felt immense happiness when nagi scored first but that happiness quickly went away when sae scored shortly after. Almost as if to cheer you up specifically, your girlfriend was the next one to score, so you obviously cheered incredibly loudly when it happened, rin simply gave you a nod when she saw you waving, a sign that this was just the first thing she was going to do.
The situation was dire in the second half, shidou had just entered and scored basically immediately after, and if things couldn't get worse, chigiri and niko got injured so ego decided to bring in subs, hiori, reo and....
"Y/n l/n you're up"
"H-huh?"
"We need someone with chigiri's abilities, I think you know what I'm talking about"
"Of course"
"Good, now go and win"
"..........yes"
You high fived chigiri and entered the field, your eyes darting between sae and rin's confused expressions. You knew they were both thinking the same thing
'Y/n as a left wing? Wouldn't it have made more sense to put him as a defender?'
You scowled and got into position, rin coming near you in the meantime
"Are you OK y/n?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
Rin didn't say anything her eyes just went to her sister on the other side of the field
"Don't worry, I'm OK besides......."
You raised your head completely revealing your eyes glowing your favorite color
"Getting revenge on sae is why I'm here"
The game restarted with hiori passing it to isagi, who tried to shoot only to be blocked by aiku, eventually the ball made it to sae
"....tch, from the start?"
You tried to run up to her to stop her pass but something was weird, it looked like sae was waiting for you as she didn't pass even when she had ample time to before you arrived
"I'm here shitty ex"
".............tell me"
Sae's moved the ball around her making it difficult for you to follow it
"How long will it take you to realize"
Just when you tried to steal the ball sae passed it between your legs nutmegging you
"That you're just dragging my sister to an even lower lever that she already is"
"S-shit!"
Sae managed to get past you and pass it to shidou but reo blocked it just in time.
During the time it took for you to fully realize what sae had said shidou had already scored again, this time with an amazing bicycle kick that signified him entering the flow, you couldn't help but notice how much he was touching and flirting with sae, it pissed you off so much.
When the game restarted, you tried to move, but it felt like your legs were blocked by thousands of demonic hands coming from the ground, you got lost in your own thoughts as you watched rin and sae
"......sae.....am I still not strong enough to defeat you? Am I still so boring to you? Is that why you broke my heart?.....are you right about rin?"
Your gaze fully locked in on your girlfriend, fully concentrated on the game.
"Rin.....am I dragging you down?....am I nothing but a weight to you?...no it can't be you love me......right? You love me and will never abandon me that's what you told me......but if I really am dragging you down.....then I don't deserve your love"
You held your hand out in the position where rin was as tears started forming in your eyes
"Rin.......please don't leave me behind, you gave me a reason to live.....I don't think I could keep living without you....please don't leave me like this"
You breathing got quicker as scenes from you and rin's childhood and time together flashed in your mind.
"...........what the hell am I saying?"
You raised your head, your eyes glowing even brighter and your aura form emitting from you
"Am I seriously asking rin to not leave me behind? She already has done so much for me.......the least I can do....is repair her love and trust"
You started running incredibly fast the hands tearing off from your legs
"If I have to get revenge on sae and help rin then I'll need to evolve right here and now.......for rin"
You accelerated even more quickly, making your way to the other side of the field surprising every one.
"Woooohh didn't know he could do that"
"......y/n....."
"Since when was he this fast? He might even be faster than chigiri"
You stopped for a bit and looked backwards towards hiori who currently had the ball
".....pass it"
"......ok...."
The blue haired guy did a long pass to an empty area near the goalpost
"He missed?"
"Great we can get the-"
"No look!"
With a single step you jumped forward and trapped the ball with your other leg
"This is the true me!"
You tried to shoot but got blocked by aiku who sent the ball out of the field
"Looks like I'll have to keep an eye on you too new guy"
"Tch!"
Meanwhile, on the bench, everyone stood wide-eyed at your display of speed, especially anri, who immediately asked ego for explanations
"W-what the? He wasn't this fast in blue lock"
".....so he as finally awakened"
"Y-YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS?!"
"Obviously"
"Then why didn't he show this before?"
".....the desire to help someone he loves and to crush someone he hates....these along with the pressure of the match were the factors that caused y/n's awakening"
He started staring at you, more specifically at your determined expression and glowing eyes
"Now let's see how far he can go"
The match restarted with the u-20 team having the ball, but they quickly lost it when yukimiya started dribbling past everyone. You saw this and swiftly went to the other side making your way to the penalty area
"I need to score, I'll use everything I can to score, even other people!"
When yukimiya shot you jumped and tried to shot the ball already in the air
"I'll deviate the gyro shot's trajectory so that the keeper can't reach it....and steal this goal for myself"
Just when you were about to shoot aiku appeared out of nowhere and headed the ball above you
"WHAT!? YOU AGAIN?"
You fell and wiped your face
"How the heck did he read me and yukimiya?.....he gambled everything on this spot"
You and isagi thought the same thing at the same time
"He entered the flow too?"
"Second ball!"
The ball made its way to rin who thanked you with her eyes but it immediately got stolen from her by aiku who threw it to sae
"Shit! Not her!"
Your ex passed to shidou, who shot but got blocked by gagamaru, reo then passed it to the other side of the field, copying nagi's previous goal and giving the ball to him.
"Time to counter the counter"
You quickly changed directions and advanced to the penalty area once again
"I can feel it. This is when I'll score. What's the best position, though?"
You saw that rin had the ball, you two locked eyes and understood each other immediately
"While everyone is distracted by isagi and rin"
You blasted through the u-20 defense with no one being able to mark you for long
"I'll make my way to everyone's blind spot alone!......now I just need to wait for the pass. Who will it come from?"
"Perfect, y/n is in position"
Rin passed it to karasu who did the same to nagi
"What a tough spot"
"I see it, this is it! The only thing nagi can do right now"
He tapped the ball with his heel and passed to a position near your
"Is pass to me!.....thanks rin"
"This is yours, score y/n"
"I won't disappoint you'
You watched the ball spin in the air towards you
"I'll shoot it directly, just like isagi"
"This is my go-"
"Impressive"
You turned your head to see sae staring directly at you and blocking your shot path
"I guess you have improved a bit.... but you're still just as lukewarm as rin"
"............WHA-WHAT THE FUCK! Since when was sae here.......did she read me so well even after my awakenings......I can't shoot with her in front of me................am I still...not enough to beat her?"
You started sinking into despair again the demon hands emerging from the ground to cover your entire body
"Y/N LOOK AT ME!"
You opened your eyes and saw rin at your right looking at you
".........rin.......rin......RIN!"
The view of your girlfriend filled you back with hope, you wanted to crush sae and you weren't going to give up that easily
"Shut up sae! The one who's lukewarm...."
You suddenly stopped and turned 180° degrees the ball was still moving but now you were in a position where it would go directly to your right
".....what does he want to do?"
You crossed your legs and waited
"He put his left foot forward...does he want to pass to rin?.......then I'll intercep-"
Sae took too long to realize what you truly wanted to do so you smirked and looked at her
"IS YOU!"
You shot the ball with the side of your right foot who you crossed behind your left one
"Direct rabona shot!"
The ball went into the back of the net, and when you saw it, you smirked even wider
Goooooooaaaaal!!!!!!
3 3
Blue lock U-20
Eleven Japan
You immediately went to rin and hugged her, even if blushing she reciprocated, unlike she did to isagi earlier
"Thank you rin"
"I didn't do anything"
"No just seeing you there awakened something in me, I want to crush sae because of you too
".......thanks"
"Oh and I'm sorry for not passing"
"You seriously think I'm mad at you for scoring?"
"Well no but-"
"You defeated sae and scored an amazing goal.......I couldn't be prouder of you"
"....thank you really"
You two high fived and made your way to your positions
"I just equalized thought, I'll do anything to leave the last goal to you"
".......no if there's a possibility for you to score then I'll pass it no matter what"
"Well then I guess we'll just have to leave it to luck then"
"......yes"
As you and rin walked through the field you saw sae staring at you, just to prove a point your girlfriend kissed your cheek and glared hard at her sister while whispering something
"This is just the start you shitty excuse for a sister....me and y/n will destroy you completely"

(Cause I wanted to do something cute too)
[Rin is standing in her lonely room in the top 6 dorms]
Rin:............hey ego
[A screen appears with him on it]
Ego:what is it rin itoshi?
Rin:I'm gonna bring y/n into my room
Ego:.........what?
Rin:you heard me
Ego:he's not a top 6
Rin:do I look like I care? I just wanted to warn you
[Before he can answer rin walks out and goes into the cafeteria where she sees you talking with bachira and isagi]
Y/n:oh hi rin
Rin:.....come with me
Y/n:e-eh? Sure
[She grabs your hand and leads you to her room]
Y/n:so why did you bring me here?
Rin:.......it's lonely without you
Y/n:really?
[She just blushes and nods]
Y/n:well that's no problem, I can stay with you
Rin:thanks
Y/n:.....but there’s only one bed
Rin:i-i don't mind
Y/n:Great then
[You hug each other and fall on the bed as you start to cuddle]

The Good Place AU
Meet the residents of The Neighborhood 110621A
Violet "Vi" Lane: A underground fighter.
Why is she in the bad place? While she did what she needed to survive in the eyes of the system she doesn't deserve to be in the good place.
Caitlyn Kiramman: Commander of Piltover Police.
Why is she in the bad place? A lot of police brutality happend in her time as commander and use chemical weapons agaisnt a whole city (Zaun).
Jayce Talis: The CEO of Hextech Industries and politician in Piltover.
Why is he in the bad place? All the contamination that Hextech produce was his fault and he did create a lot of weapons, become a corrupt politician and he was so laser focus in his goals that never realize all the people that he hurt.
Mel Medarda: The Heiress of the Medarda Family and an important politician in Piltover.
Why is she in the bad place? All her "good deeds" never came of a genuine place just as display to prove her mother wrong, also she did have a lack of empathy for other people (the closest one to a character in the show) and she was also a corrupt politician maybe not the worst but her actions still screw over people.
All the humans have really embarrassing deaths in the show. So what do you guys think how did they died?
Meet the administration!
The Arquitect!
"Silco": Not the real Silco, that one is in the real bad place, but a demon that took the form of Silco since he was a person that is related to all of the characters that intervine in their lives either directly or indirectly, so having to deal with him as a "good guy" is a hit to their pride.
Still unsure if he takes the form of young Silco or the one of the good timeline.
Viktoria: She would take the place of Janet in these AU. I'll would be her journey of becoming more human and discovering her new emotions. She's a "faulty" model so she needs her cane.
Bad Viktoria would be The Machine Herald.
She create Jayce Giopara in a moment of jealousy.
The quotes that inspired this AU!
Vi: I've only ever said "I love you" to two men my entire life, my dad and a guy in a fight club who I mistook for my dad.
.
Jayce: Okay, I've made my decision. I want to, start crying.
.
Mel: I just want to sit, stare at nothing, and silently scream for the rest of time.
.
Jayce: I am in paradise! I should be doing paradise things, like working in my lab with a good bottle of wine, doing math.
Vi: That's your idea of paradise?
.
Silco, discovers that Jayce and Viktoria are having sex: Whoa! You two are sleeping together?
Jayce, flustered: Only when we're done having sex.
.
Silco: I'm an immortal being with abilities you can only dream-
Vi: Yeah and we're an Zaun dirtbag, a rich unhinged mongoose, a narcissistic monster, and literally the smartest and dumbest person I've ever met.
Jayce: ...Eat shit Vi!
.
*After a reboot*
Viktoria, about Mel and Jayce: But I am happy for them. I am. I am. Am I? I am. I am not. I am not. I am not that. I am not happy for them.

Nuances:
How Long They've Known Each Other:
Kaneki and Hide met in Grade School, but an exact year was never given. I tend to jump around a lot depending on what works best for the fic, but I think I prefer to make it their second year of Grade School, making them around 6-7 when they met. Thus, approximately 16 years as of the final arc.
Kaneki met Touka in November of 2011, only knowing her for 2 months roughly before Aogiri kidnapped him and he left her. They only truly reunited again in December of 2015, and the series ends in April 2016. So as a whole, 4 years and 6 months. But if you mean direct contact, then only... 6 months wow.
Ages: I'm filling this out as of the final arc (late April), so Kaneki just turned 23 (Dec), Touka has yet to turn 22 (July), and Hide has yet to turn 24 (June)
Love Languages: Hide is absolutely a physically affectionate person. Kaneki I think would be acts of service, honestly born from his trauma and feeling like a burden so he needs to do things in return. And he also gifted Touka that rabbit keychain and then I wrote a fic of him doing the same for Hide. I can see him being the kind of person to see his loved ones in random items and buying things here and there for them. And Touka I think would be quality time but like,,, in a cat way? She likes to quietly hang out and join her loved ones, or even a sort of parallel play of being nearby, not really some big quality time event like snuggling.
How It Happens:
I like to hc that Hide had a crush on Kaneki as a kid, and it's always lasted. And in canon he was actually the first one to find Touka cute, even before Kaneki. // Touka we know fell in love with Kaneki after he said he'd be sad if she died. And I think she'd end up with Hide by seeing how close he and Kaneki are and figuring "why not!" // In canon it's not exactly clear how or why Kaneki fell in love with Touka (beyond her being a cute girl and a close friend) but I think it was really just something that happened slow and natural. I also jump back and forth between him being unaware of his crush on Hide, and/or knowing with absolute certainty that he wants to spend his life with his best friend beside him (in a QPR way, if only he knew the term).
Jealousy: I can't see any of them as especially jealous people? I think they'd simply have the average amount, and even then it would come more from a place of insecurity of themselves than active jealousy.
Attention: Hide is good with anything, anywhere and anytime. // Kaneki is a romantic but he likes his privacy, and it takes him a long time to build up the nerve to initiate anything. // Touka doesn't see the point in purposely displaying affection in public. And she's not that much of a touchy person in general.
Arguing: Touka is quick to snap but also quick to forgive once she cools off. // Kaneki is pretty hit or miss, whether he'll be level-headed or stubborn during an argument. // Hide's a bit stubborn but more so he's afraid of confrontation and especially losing people, so he'll back down the moment things seem like they're getting out of hand.
Protectiveness: Kaneki and Hide are both incredibly overprotective. Kaneki is pretty obvious about it. Hide keeps it quiet and works in secret. Whereas Touka has confidence that her loved ones can take care of themselves.
Spooning: There's two ways to answer this. As a trio, I think Hide would hold Kaneki who holds Touka so that he's in the middle. Kaneki needs to be held and feel loved and wanted, so that's their usual, although they all switch. When it comes to preferences, as said, Kaneki likes to be held. I think Touka would prefer to hold but doesn't mind being held. And Hide is pretty neutral and just goes on whatever the other person needs - he just likes touch, he doesn't really care what role or position.
Clothes Sharing: There's not too much of a height difference between them, so I think they would regularly share clothes. The only issue is their vastly different fashion senses, but anything that falls into the middleground of their tastes absolutely gets thrown around on who wears it.
Bugs: Hide's a bleeding heart. Kaneki's had the worst experiences with centipedes and yet seemed to hold respect and/or like of them. And Touka likes bugs. Yeah none of them are killing bugs - they're all relocating them outside.
Introvert vs Extrovert: Kaneki is an introvert. Hide's an ambivert — one who seems like an extrovert but he's actually more introverted. And Touka I think is a "true" ambivert right in the middle.
Didn't Know They Were Dating VS Always Thought They Were Dating: This one is very fun to me. In canon Kaneki sprung that marriage onto Touka, and I always got vibes that she was going for more of a FWB deal. And I ship post-canon Hidetouken in the sense that they both pull Hide into their marriage and Hide has no idea that's their intent for the longest time. And so, surprisingly, Kaneki ends up being the one aware (for once).
Plans VS Improvises: Kaneki is a pretty organized and strict by-the-book kind of person. Touka is too stubborn to commit to any plan. And Hide bounces around, sometimes his ADHD makes him plan out everything and sometimes it Does Not Work.
Nicknames: I can't see any of them being big on pet names. Hide gets the closest bc I can see him using friendly casual nicknames. And I think Touka would also be the kind of girl to call her boyfriends "bro" or "dude" occasionally, especially when they do something stupid. And personally I've always been against the idea that Touka and Hide end up calling him "Ken". I feel like Kaneki doesn't like to be called that, given that literally no one close to him calls him in that the entire series run. Honestly, his partners calling him Ken has become a fanfic squick of mine bc of that. Anyway, I think they'd all just stick to their typical canon ways of referring to each other.
Sappy VS Casual: Kaneki's a romantic, Hide's romantic but in a casual way, and Touka is aro and rather romance-repulsed at times.
Open Book VS Hard To Read: Hide comes off as a total open book, but it's just a mask. In actuality, he's the most difficult to truly read. Touka tends to wear her emotions on her sleeve, usually negative ones. And Kaneki's in the middle, it really depends whether he feels it's "safe" to show them or masks them.
Pushover VS Stubborn: Hide is all masking and all bark, he's a pushover. Touka can and will bite. And Kaneki again depends on what he's reacting to. And he's steadily getting better at setting boundaries and not being a pushover.
Blind Trust VS Lack of Trust: I think Hide trusts easily, but its not blind, it's his intuition and thought processes making him confident enough to take that leap of faith. // Kaneki and Touka both have major trust issues, given all their trauma of being abandoned.
First To Confess: In canon Touka confessed to Kaneki. Unconventionally, but still. And I like the idea of her being the one to suggest and open up a poly relationship post-canon between Kaneki and Hide, starting as a V and soon into a full triangle.
First To Kiss: Touka kissed Kaneki first in canon. And when it comes to Hidekane? Well, given that Hide doesn't have lips anymore, I think any possible "kissing" would need to be heavily talked about and taken slow. But I like the idea of Kaneki asking him a soft and open, "Can I kiss you?" and they go from there.
Says "I Love You" First: Hide has the most spontaneity, so I want to say him, although Kaneki and Touka were married for longer before reuniting with him, so it might be one of them. And yet, I kinda like the idea of Hide saying it after they're all together as a throuple, and then Kaneki and Touka both have to pause like "Holy shit wait no one's actually Said That in all this time." They tend to say "i love you" through actions, so it's kinda jarring (in a good way) when it's suddenly said aloud.
Struggles To Say "I Love You": I think Touka would. She canonically seems to have trouble saying what she means when it comes to emotional matters (best seen in light novel Days), but also it's a pretty common thing for aros to struggle with this when they don't feel romantic attraction, so it seems fitting.
Spoils: I can see Hide being the kind of partner to do surprises and just random bursts of affection. And as i think acts of service and gift-giving would be one of Kaneki's love languages, he'd really like to indulge in his love and spoil his partners.
Popular: It outwardly appears to be Hide, but that's not actually true; the guy knows a lot of people but they're not deep connections. Kaneki, though... the guy basically has a harem.
Infodumps: Hide does often about all kinds of things. Kaneki infodumps about literature.
Driver: Kaneki; I think he's the most responsible and calm-headed person to do it. Plus he's the only one seen driving in canon. (As Haise, but still.)
Fighter: Kaneki and Touka equally so. And they're hypocrites about it and berate each other for it. Usually followed by a "Let me do it!!". Hide is more "the guy in the chair" and can't really fight beyond self defense.
"Excuse Me They Asked For No Pickles": Hide for sure. I imagine him doing this all the time when the ghouls get served coffee that's not truly black.
Hiding Feelings: They all do. Hide is the worst, a constant really good mask of sunshine. Kaneki's also really bad about it, but when it's at its worst you can really tell. Touka is a bit more conditional, she doesn't mind expressing emotions themselves, but whenever she feels vulnerable she is going to bottle that up and not let anyone know.
Flirting: Hide's a casual flirt, overemphasizing it to have fun and see how the other party reacts. Kaneki is shy but he's a real sappy romantic at times. Touka has fun and will occasionally flirt sexily and hit on her boys.
Flustered: Kaneki gets flustered the most. But I think Hide also wouldn't be able to handle genuine outright affection. Touka gets flustered, but more in a shocked and embarrassed and romance-repulsed sense.
Codependency: Kaneki and Hide are absolutely codependent with each other. Kaneki's also very codependent on Touka. Touka's an independent woman who doesn't need no man; she simply wants one (then two).
Clingy: Kaneki is absolutely clingy and needy and touch-starved. Hide is very physically affectionate and always has been.
Trust: This one is interesting because at any other point in canon they would be a 3/4 of "heavy trust but also insecurity of being left behind." But specifically after the Dragon Arc? Yeah no trust is absolutely maxed out. Hide going as far as he had for Kaneki, he's not leaving, and Kaneki is never leaving his side again. Touka dug Kaneki out of Dragon, clearly she chose him yet again, I think Kaneki's good for a long while. And Touka? Kaneki vowed that he would come back and he did. I think her worries are also soothed for a long while.
Closeness: Kaneki and Hide are extremely close, and Kaneki and Touka have also grown very close, being married for the past few months.
Steals Clothes From: All of them share clothes. Touka likes to steal Kaneki's clothes. Hide also likes to steal his clothes, but he also offers them to Kaneki and Touka. Kaneki likes to wear their clothes as well, but he still gets pushed to the left from the utter amount of the others taking his clothes. (Also there's this.)
Uses Nicknames: Kaneki and Hide both call her "Touka-chan." I've long-stolen the fanon of Hide calling him "neki", and my reason is, as said above, I think Kaneki dislikes his given name, but Hide wanted to give Kaneki a nickname because he himself likes to be called "Hide" over his full name, so he stated that Kaneki "had to" have a nickname and came up with that. I'd love to give Touka a nickname for Kaneki too, since calling your husband by his surname 24/7 is admittedly a bit odd, but I'm still thinking of what. And I got "Hide-kun" because that's what Touka calls him in the epilogue (although it got lost in translation).
Overprotective Of: Hide's overprotective of Kaneki, but he has confidence that Touka can handle herself. Kaneki is overprotective of both of them. And Touka isn't overprotective of either of them, she's pretty hands-off and has confidence that they can handle anything.
Gives Gifts: Kaneki, being his love language.
Physically Affectionate: Hide, being his love language.
Goes Shopping With: I think they all would. The shopping would be quite different, as they're all into different things, but I think all would be happy to spend simple domestic time in tagging along with the other(s).
Clingy: Hide, absolutely, all the time. Kaneki can be very clingy too, but it's a bit more conditional or situational.
Some ship templates I made because none had what I was looking for + there were no high quality 3 person poly ones someone please use em I didn't spend 2 hours doing them for nothing Other way of getting the files in case it isn't transparent on tumblr + non transparent ones

This really isn't meant to be mean or argumentative, just curiosity. Why do you hate Bryce?
Its been so long since I wrote a Bryce hate post. I hate Bryce for a lot of reasons:
She's annoying
SJM wrote her to be the prettiest girl at the party while giving her the internal monologue of "gosh but I'm also just so BIG which is why I can't DANCE professionally" and I fucking hated that
She's a shitty friend and I'm not even talking about Dannika who was arguably worse. Bryce treats nearly everyone around her like an afterthought in book 1, and they're all LITERALLY willing to die for her
Circling back to shitty friend, she refuses to loop anyone into her plans despite their, frankly, baffling devotion
Hunt shows up to help her solve Dannka's murer, the one thing she claims she wants...so she spends pages and pages and pages treating him like shit about it (and obviously he falls in love with her)
Another fantasy rebel who wants to reinvent imperialism so long as its her and her friends running said "evil" govt
Half human, does not sympathize with their plight in any meaningful way
Party girl not qualified in any way, shape, or form to take on any of the projects given to her which should be interesting but its not
"get the fuck over your centuries of slavery" attitude that I just did not enjoy
Genuinely my issues with Bryce are just SJM as an author. I think all her worst qualities as a writer are on display in these books and they're totally unchecked. Bryce is giving major "not like other girls" which always annoys me in a protagonist because every other woman is trying to be nice but she's "strong" so she has to have a massive chip on her shoulder 24/7. We keep being told she's super smart blah blah blah but we never see it because Bryce just figures it all out, tells NO ONE, the plot gives 0 hints, and its like. Ok. Glad I wasted all this time curious only for the narrative to be like, "SURPRISE TWIST!" its actually not a surprise twist if the author is lying to you the whole time and/or gave 0 clues and then pulled it out of their ass like "BET YOU DIDNT SEE THAT COMING!" like idk call me a buzzkill but sometimes, when setting up a really compelling mystery, people will guess your twist and that doesn't make it a bad twist.

i find it so interesting that so many people keep saying, 'shannon is dead, let her rest' when the kim situation... didn't allow eddie to put her to rest at all? he spoke to kim as shannon and acknowledged she wasn't coming back, but then chris walked in and eddie's entire focus shifted to how to fix this mess with his son. there was no processing. no acknowledging why this happened or how it happened. we saw eddie say he deserves punishment, not joy, for what happened. we saw him embrace a moment of joy. but we have never seen him truly let shannon go.
season 7 focused on both eddie's and chris' lack of closure over shannon in different ways. we saw how the abandonment affected chris when he said that people leave anyways. we saw him read his mom's letter and display her picture back on his desk. but we didn't see eddie deal with it because, once again, he compartmentalized that piece of himself because he needed to focus on chris. i think it was so telling that chris tackled a lot of that storyline with buck, and then eddie gave him the letter. but we don't really see eddie and chris talk about how they feel about her death. in the deleted scene, they talk about eddie meeting shannon back in the day, but when chris asks eddie 'did you get over mom?', eddie completely avoids the question 'well, your mom wasn't my first girlfriend.'
nothing eddie has done this far in the narrative have acknowledged his own very real feelings. we saw eddie say, 'i came back because i couldn't imagine a life without you. and you know what? i still can't.' ... 'this is the life i have now, the life without you. you were supposed to be here with me. and now you're not. and you never will be.' we saw eddie coming to terms with the fact shannon will never come back, but then chris walked in, and everything shifted back to eddie focusing on chris.
i think it would be so healing to see eddie admit his devastation over their whole marriage. he came back, she left, she came back, she wanted a divorce, she died. because while he has now acknowledged she won't come back, he hasn't released himself from his own guilt that he was a bad husband who wasn't enough for her to stay. and that is a big piece of his panic attacks with ana. he wasn't prepared to be a ready made family because there is still grief surrounding the family he thought he'd have. and in order to move on and repair his relationship with chris, he needs to release that piece of shannon and what their family could have been.
#eddie diaz#christopher diaz#shannon diaz#i agree we need to let shannon diaz rest but eddie has to allow himself time and space to heal first#911 abc

sure thing! (extremely long and detailed eidolon diska spoilers under cut)
so there's a few characters that invite low/no empathy readings to me, foremost among them natalie, flannery, jordan, and jake. & honestly i think having that range of characters with different degrees of sympathy/villainousness is already something that's rare to find in art, but i really like how they are deliberatley compared and contrasted throughout the story. for example:
natalie is a pretty straightforward example. although she's the one out of these we get the least internality for, she consisetntly displays that she's extremely willing to completely steamroll over other people's autonomy and free will to her own convenience. when challenged on this by charlie she very simply refuses to acknowledge that any harm could possibly have been caused, which ultimately leads to charlie killing her. & if it was just natalie who i read this way, i'd think this kind of sucks? like...
i am very used to two narratives about characters with low/no empathy, which is either, like, 'the irredeemable totally inhuman sickopath' or 'they just need to learn to Feel The Feeling and then they're fixed' and i feel like diska engages with how feeling these kind of feelings and having these kind of behaviour patterns actually impacts these characters and their relationships with other people and places more focus on how they react to that and manage that than on endlessly batting around the question of 'is this person an irredeemable mind sicko because of their evil thoughts' which i really appreciate -- in the context of jordan and jake and flannery, natalie's fatal flaw is not necessarily presented as being a lack of remorse, or an inability to conceptualize the feelings of others, but the fact that she refuses to confront this and figure out how to still live alongside people.
this is in contrast to jordan, who i have a very strong read on as low-empathy, mostly due to his own descriptions of his feelings of separation from humanity and lack of emotional connection to other people being very relatable to me but also due to some of his other behaviours that mostly come out when talking to haley -- like his seemingly genuine inability to understand why haley didn't try to pitch him on the disco kids loophole plan collaboratively, or his repeated failed efforts to wrap his head around why she can't accept his justifications for her dad's death or retconning her and kc's relationship no matter how many times he explains how much Narrative Sense it makes. jordan in a lot of ways is similar to natalie, except that at the very last step, where natalie refuses to, jordan steps back from the brink. he chooses to open that door and opens himself to the possibility of living alongside people.
jordan himself is compared in-text (i can't remember by whom, i know it's in maxie's show notes for the balor interview but i don't think it ends up being brought up there? but i know the comparison is raised at some point) to flannery, who i read as low-empathy for a lot of similar reasons: she seems to genuinely struggle with conceptualizing other people's feelings or autonomy (such as not understanding until told repeateldy that maurice does not want any amount of his limbs severed and replaced). but the difference that gets pointed out is that after the rough start of a kittycat-based murder attempt and notwithstanding the blip of a blowdart kidnapping, flannery is able to work around this, bonding with the mystery solver's club through her intellectual interests and even (albeit clumsily) going out of her way to show interest in maurice's interest in movies. & you know the upshot of this is that despite being, as pointed out, quite similar to jordan in some ways, she manages to channel this into a way of existing with the people around her that's less harmful to them and much less miserable for herself.
& finally there's jake! jake openly expresses a view that is very familiar to me and very typical of low-empathy people, that all interaction is manipulation. what i really like about jake and how jake ends up being a very sympathetic character (even as he never stops being a bit of a cunt) is that he is able to be open about how he interfaces with the world. like, the scene where he straight-up tells solo he was manipulating them, and allows her to make up her own mind about, like... how she feels about that, how to navigate that moving forward, that was a scene i found super moving, because it reminded me of similar conversations i've had when trying to figure out how to move forward with relationships positively and happily and productively for everyone involved. i believe you've posted somewhere about this and about his cooking for the o'neills, how these things start from a place of seeking ego-protection/a position of control and presgite and superiority, but from the emotional security that position affords were able to develop into deeper and more meaningful relationships
so yeah ultimately what i really like is that it never feels like any of these characters are condemned or need to be saved from the feelings they have or the way they relate (or don't) to others, but instead what they struggle with is, to various extents, finding ways to navigate the world without hurting other people or themselves. & yknow even when the endpoint of that story is as negative and bleak as it can be (natalie), i think it is just an inherently more interesting story than i usually see explored with characters who have these traits and feelings, and i'm really grateful that diska exists -- not just for that reason, obviously, but it's something i appreciate a lot from it.
have talked about this with my gf but as someone who is a certified sickopath i really appreciate eidolon diska for having a range of characters who can v. easily be read as low/no empathy who show a range of ways of dealing with that and various levels of functionality as a result

"Good" Acting
i have a theory that a lot of people say acting is "good" when they're emotionally moved by it, and a lot of cishet white people have a lifelong habit of not listening or empathising when minoritised people speak, so minority actors get called "bad" even when they display some pretty fucking amazing technical skill
#also a lot of female actors don't get recognised despite being fucking GOOD#that's not to say minority actors can't always be bad#of course we can#I'm just saying#sometimes#for SOME shows in particular#ahem ahem#some actors might get very heavily criticised for reasons that have very little to do with their actual technical skill#and more to do with the politics of those criticising them#also I'm not talking about me here#before anyone says that#I'm talking about some actors I know who have recently been criticised in my opinion quite unfairly#despite doing something very difficult#like oooohhh i dunno#playing two roles in the same show?#and doing it very well#displaying some amazing technical mastery of body and voice technique#but hey what do I know#oh wait I went to drama school and I'm a professional actor lol I DO know#I'm just a woman so I have to couch my expertise in cutesy self-deprecation lest people think I'm a bitch

in remembrance of all deceased transgender individuals who have been misgendered through paleontology
trans liberation does not stop with death insp by @sweatermuppet
#i work at a museum and im just. thinking a lot about how plaques around the world say “skeleton of a young girl”#or “bones of a [blank] year old man”#the idea that there are probably so many trans people on display with incorrect gender is just. haunting. i feel for them.#even those who have been misgendered on their gravestones. immortalized incorrectly.#if someone found my bones in the woods science would call me a girl and tag me as such and that just does Not sit right with me#i understand it can be a necessity for certain research but language really really matters. my sex and my gender are not the same#my bones do not determine my identity#trans art

The idea that GRRM is anti Tolkien is particularly funny because ASOIAF is sprinkled with rather intricate (and even passionate) homages to LOTR. And I can’t help but think of how Tolkien’s Fellowship, more specifically the Hobbits, may have inspired GRRM’s Night’s Watch. Jon Snow, for starters, is in many ways a combination of LOTR’s Frodo and Aragorn. And in the same way that Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are unexpected heroes in LOTR (because who looks to a hobbit as the face of an epic adventure?), Jon the bastard becomes the leader of a ragtag of socially disenfranchised men (in the form of the NW) who are anything but heroic. Sure there’s the odd knight or noble in there, but the NW is quite full of criminals and the very worst of the social order. The hobbits aren’t the strongest or the sharpest but they become the face of the fight against Sauron. And the NW, while being severely undermanned and under-equipped, has become the main force that stands against winter. GRRM even adds a love letter to Tolkien’s Sam Gamgee by adding his on Sam - Sam Tarly - who acts as a moral compass and counselor to Jon, in the same ways that Sam Gamgee is key to Frodo’s journey. And just like Frodo, Jon gets his very own pair of jokester friends, one of whine is even named Pyp. So it’s all very beautiful and nice, and we should talk about it more because it’s super evident that GRRM is a massive Tolkien fanboy. But I do have to say tho, GRRM’s take on Gandalf is exceedingly hilarious just because Melisandre is famously very bad at her job.
#asoiaf#lord of the rings#lotr#Gandalf - old and scary and very competent at his job#Mel - very old very scary and displays varying levels of competence#jokes aside another cool parallel between Jon and Frodo is that both#choose to embark on this dangerous journey because who else will do it?#Lots of arguing about who will destroy the ring who should have it etc and Frodo is just like#I’m ready to do what needs to be done even if it takes me to Mordor#Which is very similar to Jon who watches the rest of Westeros bicker about some stupid chair#And he’s willing to sacrifice his life and win no glory to save humanity in the face of an existential threat#And don’t think I need to get too much into Jon’s similarities with Aragorn because they’re plain as day#Also the iron throne and the ring of power having cool parallels?#Anyway asoiaf is so heavily inspired by LoTR and grrm is a such a huge fanboy#It’s insane that people think he hates Tolkien or whatever#jon snow#sam tarly#pyp#grenn#the night’s watch#frodo baggins#sam gamgee#merry brandybuck#pippin took#melisandre of asshai#gandalf#valyrianscrolls

Before I get into all my yapping, I wanna start by saying I am kind of using this post as a way to parse through my feelings on the Black Rose Arc so if there's things that don't make sense or that are directly contradicted somewhere please let me know! These ideas are in no way rigid and my opinions on this Arc have varied a lot over time. Really I just love having discourse and discussions lolol. RGU is absolutely one of those shows where there's no one solid answer to anything!! 🌹

@rabarbarzcukrem
For point 1, I'll clarify first that I dont think there is an objective correct truth for how time works at Ohtori, whether it's manipulated by people's perceptions or is changed literally in some way, either kind of take works. I just think this one is a interesting way to view the Black Rose Arc specifically. Honestly maybe calling it a lens works better than calling it a headcanon because I vary on how I interpret time based on what kind of analysis I'm doing.
All that being said, if you think of RGU as falling within a straightforward timeline, this means a lot of the weird "illusions" you see, like Akio seeming to change in his age at random times, are not literal but are rather a reflection of how a character perceives their reality. A type of cognitive dissonance. So what kind of "illusions" do we see when it comes to Nemuro Hall? The first is that it was burned down sometime in the past, but no specific time frame is given. All Miki says is that is happened "before the student council existed" but the council only exists because of Akio gathering duelists after the experiment with Namuro Hall failed. To me, that means it's just as likely that Nemuro Hall could have burned down just a few years prior and not ages ago and Miki is speaking about it like any school student talks about "urban legends" at their school. Another obvious illusion is Tokiko. She seems similar in age to Mikage in his flashback but when she appears later, she has clearly aged. But Tokiko was never actually as young as Mikage. She was always an adult. She works for the school board and was there to monitor the project. I think the way she looks in Mikage's memory is not a literal representation but was just how he saw her because of his feelings for her. Similar to how Akio seems to vary in age depending on how Utena or Anthy view him at the time. He doesn't recognize her later, not just because she grew her hair but because she moved on from that project and no longer had that drive to search for eternity that Mikage latched onto. As if the issue wasn't that she was unrecognizable, but that Mikage would be so disillusioned from the idea of Tokiko moving on and living a "normal" life that he would not even be able to admit it was her.
The premise of it happening 4 years ago primarily revolves around the fact that the real Mamiya looks around 10 (like Mitsuru) and Anthy during the events of RGU is 14. Anthy would have easily subbed in when she was the same age. This also means that she appears to never age as "Mamiya" not because she can magically change her age, but because Mikage's perception of their relationship and their ages in relation to one another has not changed from the moment Mamiya died. This idea still lends reasoning that not even the upperclassmen like Kanae remembered Nemuro Hall, because they were not in that class of students. It also offers a nice bow onto Mikage, who, if he was the same age as the student council members during his flashback, would now be at the age he ought to be graduating school and that may be why he needed to be used up and forced out by Akio. 🌹
@dawnilith
Tokiko is an adult in a position of power over Mikage who comes into his life and, whether through intention or willful ignorance, manipulates him into achieving "eternity" for her. While she's not blatantly evil, she displays a lot of selfishness all while getting to remain "above" the consequences of what happened because the real victims of that cycle were Mamiya and Mikage. Tokiko dangled the idea that Mikage was the most specialest smartest boy, the only one capable of saving Mamiya, then dipped out as soon as he failed and crashed and literally burned over it. I'm being kind of blunt about it of course, admittedly for effect, but I do genuinely believe Tokiko is kind of a bad person. Understandable and complex? Yes. Same as all of the characters. But still. She is a part of the cycle of adults preying on students at Ohtori and it's not often brought up because of how confusing Mikage's perception of time is. 🌹

@gaitiem Lol honestly valid. On one hand, if it made too much sense it wouldn't be RGU amiright aha (dumb joke) but also I very well may be saying nonsense and that's okay too. I'm just spitballin ideas here. I'd love to hear your thoughts too! 🌹
3 of my Nemuro Hall headcanons/hot takes:
☞ I don't believe Mikage was literally "frozen in time" in fact, I think the events at Nemuro Hall happened around 4 years prior to the series.
☞ Tokiko and Mikage's relationship parallels Akio and Utena's and yes I mean that in the most insulting way towards Tokiko. If Tokiko Chida has no haters, I am dead.
☞ I'm not convinced that the 100 boys literally died, I think they just graduated or in some other way "gave up" making their memories eternal, which Mikage views as death because of Mamiya.

i am so tired of female characters being inherently written as ‘terrifying’ or ‘scary’ w no respect to their characterisation.
for one, it feels so fake. i know so many women irl (i am one!!!) and there are very few, of any, that i would categorise as ‘scary as is’. heck, even if we go by tempers—the numbers just don’t match.
but somehow in fics, every single woman is a terrifying force of nature bc that’s…somehow…the only way we can think of women? idk?
and also just, it’s such a two dimensional characterisation that i only see w the female characters. all men aren’t angry and hex-happy and scary all the time. they’re affable, chill, respond to situations thoughtfully instead of always resorting to violence.
i think it also bothers me bc the anger thing flows neatly into the v gendered carefree man child/stuck up fun sponge stereotypes that so many relationships are forced into. it’s just an icky dynamic all around.
and lastly,,,i don’t think it’s even normal for a character to be latently terrifying everyone all the time??? unless it’s a specific quirk of theirs??? like women aren’t dementors bro chill tf out
#i just get. so frustrated by how women are written#and ofc this isn’t just limited to fics#all books have these gendered tropes#and i get so annoyed#the whole thing anger also#is it just feels so disingenuous#bc womanhood & anger (and performing/displaying it) is so complicated bc of socialisation n patriarchy#women are simultaneously not allowed to be angry and portrayed as screechy harpies#and so when characters are written like that it just seems to reinforce these ideas#clearly it bothers me a lot haha#u just can’t escape it ykno? that’s my issue#it makes it’s way into writing on such a subconscious level#and people think they’re writing a strong female character#when really they’ve just introduced someone with anger issues#like. it’s NOT normal to always be scared of someone and their reactions ok?#and it’s not okay for women to always be parenting the people (men) around them#constantly checking to see if something is dangerous or if they’re fucking up or do all the responsible things like#how can u not see ur reproducing gendered notions of personality 😭😭#like plssss#and it’s fiction!!!#we are writing about magic and fantasy#but it’s hard for us to conceive of an alternative perception of womanhood? be so fr bruh#like. i guess what i’m getting at. is that women are also just. People. ykno? we can write them normally#just look at the woman around u for one and you’ll get so many ideas 😭#even if we just take anger#9 times out of 10 a fem character will be screaming and hexing and throwing her weight around#but you can be angry in so so many ways#and u can even be someone who doesn’t GET angry. not in such a way. who can’t hold a grudge.#just. i really wish we diversified the way we wrote women. s’all.#pen’s yapping
