Star Trek is peak entertainment. every episode starts with the captain writing in his diary. flying around looking at quasars and shit. saying shit like “this entire society believes in impaling themselves on big sharp sticks, is it wrong for us to stop them?” everyone only likes classical music. horny as hell. getting trapped in the old west or sent to renaissance times every other week. fly past a weird nebula and suddenly everyone is trying to kill each other or singing show tunes or thinks they're King Arthur. your best friend gets turned inside out or morphed into a spider baby but she's fine after 1 doctor visit. nobody gets paid they're doing this for fun. everybody from Earth is American. always referencing stuff from 300 years ago. every alien is an incomprehensible blob of concrete or a regular guy with funny eyebrows. everyone's obviously gay but pretending to be straight. can only teleport out of danger when it's the most dramatic. every part of the spaceship can be reconfigured to shoot out reverse anti-tachyons or whatever they need. there's always a guy named something like Neeknork. they're technically in the military but they mostly look at neat rocks. spend the rest of their time going "please don't fight us we're just trying to look at these cool rocks". political entities are perfect socialist utopia, the Roman Empire if it was run by KGB Draculas, orcs, capitalism, Ayn Rand lizards, clone soldier theocracy and what if zombies were also robots somehow. half the show is just staff meetings. it's incredible and I love it

Why is Thriller Bark my favorite arc?
I feel like I never explained why Thriller Bark is my favorite arc. I keep like spouting it but never explain it lol
So here is why!
One, the comedy.
Thriller Bark is so fucking hilarious. There are so many moments that are forever etched in my brain that make me laugh when I think about it. For example, Luffy shoving the fucking zombie back into the ground, Luffy beating the shit out of Cerberus to tame it, the fucking zombies that have Zoro and Sanji's shadows 😭
This arc is so unserious yet so serious at the same time.
Two, Brook's Introduction!! Brook is my friend's favorite character and we watched Thriller Bark together for the first time. It helped etch that memory and sense of nostalgia deeper into my soul.
Three, the amount of lore and small foreshadowing we get in this arc. We get mention of Big Mama, Egghead, the other warlords, and a peak into the new world.
Four, the character moments.
There are a lot of character moments in this arc that are truly amazing. We get to see Usopp shine when he fights against Perona. Sanji protecting Nami. Franky fighting with the crew for the first time. Robin being able to finally show her true colors with the crew. Chopper facing against his idol and telling him that he is the monster. Luffy beating yet another warlord! And, of course, Zoro.
Nothing Happened was such an iconic moment, one that is considered to be one of his best if not his best. It shows how much Zoro truly cares for his crew and the lengths he's willing to go to protect them.
Five, Brook's backstory. Brook is such a fascinating character and one that I want to dissect and show even more horrors. Not just his backstory with his crew though. No, we cannot forget Laboon. Laboon, a character we were introduced to back before there were 100 episodes out has been brought full circle to this point.
Brook and Laboon made me cry.
Six, Bink's Sake.
That fucking song. That song always gets me. Regardless of when it's being played on the violin or when the crew is screaming it at the top of their lunchs, it always makes me cry.
I love that song.
Seven, This was my introduction to One Piece. Yes, I started One Piece at Thriller Bark. I KNOW I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT. I saw it on Toonami after I finished my Inuyasha episode. I watched Thriller Bark and I immediately fell in love with it.
So that's why Thriller Bark is my favorite. There's a lot more to it than that but it's amazing. I love this arc so much.

(vibrates) it's slug time
loving the slang... "tightness all day long" "today is toasty". also love that "babes" survives way into the future. 15 this is ur legacy. "that woman was her sister" incest implication??? 2 minutes in
TURN LEFT /triggered
the design in this is impeccable.
this is so sims coded.... from the creators of "doctor who is a tv show" theory we bring u-> "doctor who is a videogame"
if u were disappointed with the focus on magic this ep this ep is rlly giving classic scifi parody lol
CRAZY DAYS
there's a lot of wordsmith-ing in this ep
.eyes emoji
i love ruby sm now she's so resourful in every ep
this episode is like "this is how an anniversary multi-doctor multi-companion multi-master webcam special could still win"
ok but seriously. ppl are gonna be like "phones bad is dumb of course people look where they are!!!" bro. they dont. and yeah it can have deadly consequences. there's a reason "dont text and drive" campaigns happen.
ruby has done SO many callcenter type jobs forreal.
SLUG TIME SLUG TIME SLUG TIME.
DR PEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
this episode is amazing
"is that thing something to do with you?" bitch (i got a bit spoiled that she's a racist (damn "looking at tumblr for 2 secs to vibe check" habit) so im looking at this with more hindsight than u are supposed to sdlkfjd)
bluie light celeste and gold motif in ruby and the doc's backdrops? also fifteen in orange <3333333 my beloved
the interior design is ON POINT this ep "you dont know how to walk without the arrows?" "condescending much?" bitch
this episode is so fun lol
"fifteen nd ruby react channel" realness (WHICH
..HEY

.DO U KNOW WHAT PPL REACT TO

. T V SH O W S (clown make up fully on))
ruby has done so much service calling jobs forreal lol the sheer patience
the doctor really wanting to lose their minds here but having to hold it together is peak doctor sdkjfsd (also very realistic of the struggles i expected a black doctor to work thru)
there's a bit of a theme of instinct vs programming going on here.
"surrounded by this woodland forest thing. it's like, really natural"

ITS LIKE LOVE ISLAND THE PLANET. BRO. bro im so WIRED IN /clown make up intensifies
penny pepper bean still strong holding the 12 ppl still in the tory party together in the year something something
"ruby and the doctor struggle to lie in the moment" is my favorite recurring trope
the doctor using the sonic as a remote right there

.. im running out of clown make up ya'll
"you did NOT just "@everyone" realism
no one ever listens to the goths
.
until its too late

its interesting that there's no cameras in their feeds, tho. right? like. that's the layer i think it's profoundly different to irl in this satire / social crit. ppl are *locked out* of the real world bc they're looking at their screens, but they do that bc the screens are a constant waterfall of billions of camera footage either of individuals or coporations or institutions. always producing "content". so like is not that ppl dont "see" anythign irl but they see it all thru a filter or thru editing,,,, but its fine i get what the satire is going for slkdfj but yeah. i think thats why it may feel a bit "not quite capturing" of the current ~digital ethos
fifteen so close to losing it- fifteen if u want to go for a bit of a timelord victorious i wont judge. u can have it. as a treat.
doctor who is a videogame energy bbc merch idea -> zombies run type podcast but it's the doctor and ruby telling u where to go for a job so u dont die. (russel get on this)
YOU STILL HAVE BATTERY PROBLEMS
"this is your fault!" iconic. classic who
so many ppl have presumably died so far. god bless. we needed an ep like this. proper high body count who feels good. feels organic.
rip the au where these were the beatles. thats 1 theory im really gonna mourn for the rest of the series lol
plaza 55

 orphan 55 reference???
great abrogation sounds important.
"i will get out out of here. i promise" obligatory doctor mirroring moment.
oh shit.
"thi iss SO manual"
"hands off" I LOVE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The doctor x companion x some bland guy love triangle DREAM omg
"he says they're saving us to eat for last (snob voice)maybe we're the most tasty" scream. this ep is so fun.
pentecost's style was so on point.
wasnt her battery running out? (i may have missed something sldkjf)
bro stop hitting the fucking gas pipes oh my goddddd

this is a tv show man. this is a tv show. this is - *im struggle against my straight-jacked as im graddged back to the cushion-walled cell*
the plot twist of this ep

phones good actually. thank u phones. u are doing a service.
CONCLUSIONS!
so there's a lot of ways to chop this one

"racism and capitalism still exists in the future" is a trope that it's kind of limiting / always grates me in some ways (it feeds into the anti-racism of ppl whose politics doesnt trascend idealist philosophy -> that is, it is an anti-racism that can't conceive of an end to racism bc it doesn't actually have a political project that address the material causes of racism and just tries to fix the "natural prejudices" away with "education". in other words, it cant portray a word without racism bc it cant *conveive* of one.) . however i think im more open to it this time / this series since s11 onwards the focus has been so much on telling stories about the present with scifi make up on. and i think this one manages to do that rlly well. ___
another vertice to look this one on is whether... is it really "doing anything" to have racism portrayed on screen (and other bigotry) in a scifi story? if u already experience racism or understand it happens, who is served by this? it's hurtful to watch and it's like missing the chance to "show a different world" is possible thru scifi. and the counterargument to that is on a """""color blind"""""" 2020s world it is rlly cathartic and re-affirming to have stories that *show* the realities of the world, and that dont shy away from showing those realities in fear of them coming off as "over the top" (bc they arent. some ppl will still walk away from this ep thinking "haha fun satires" but like. this is literally how White Rich People Talk. in real life.......) and again in this one time i think it works really well bc doctor who has
probably never done this? lol there's moments with martha and ryan for example, but never going this hard on it. but im open to discussion tbh. i think the angle of "is this a story about racism for white people to learn or is it a cathartic for *black / brown people to experience catharsis in" is gonna be one for fruitful discussion in the future. ___
besides the socio-political points,,,, bro this episode was a thrill ngl sdlkjf like so many simple, excellent moments like the girl walking into the light post. the made up slang and the real slang!!!!. the excellent interior design. "ruby and fifteen react to doctor who". just lots of fun little details. the execution was really inspired.
character point -> tbh fifteen at the end feels like a bit of Growth from like, ten at his worst moments -> "he's not the person you would have chosen to survive, but if you could decide who lives or dies, doctor, that would make you a monster"
also kinda wonder how this episde will hit for newbies / Not Us. i think a lot of its gut punch comes from dw never doing this before and so the strenght of subverting those expectations. is this an story that stands on its own w/o all the 60 years of context? we'll have to show it to our normie friends and see lol

God I can’t wait until tomorrow’s episode of secret life
it’s obviously gonna be the finale, and unlike previous seasons I watched live, I have wishes for every server member except for the previous winners to win lol
I want Cleo to win because she deserves this story arc, surviving the zombie apocalypse and turning human as a result, being the last green name, and also getting back with her ex husband lolol (just so you know, I have essays of thoughts about Cleo and Ethos character arcs this season that I cannot put it into words. Just trust me that this and Ethos sections should be a lot longer)
I want Etho to win because oh my god??? What has he been on this season??? First off, he has somehow reached higher set cat status than he did in Limited life, which I thought was impossible, but he just struggles so. hard. in the earlier sessions especially. Secondly, he plays the secret aspect of the game really well, where he almost always comes up with a fake task for him to do in addition to his actual task, and sticks with it completely. He’s just really good at the secret part of it while also hiding what he’s doing really badly, which is the best thing to watch ever. But thirdly and most importantly, the fucking
zombie apocalypse session
He failed his task, and made the ENTIRE SERVER also fail their task just because he didn’t want to give up Cleo and Grian
He jumped in front of Bdub’s arrow to protect Cleo
‘I’m a survivor’ this ‘I’d probably run’ that, you are a liar Mr Etho Slab!! Face it, you’ve had character development since Last Life!!! Stop thinking the worst of yourself!! Also, in addition to all that, he also fits the fact that all the previous winners played the game differently than how it was intended, with the previously mentioned failing of the task, so he also deserves to win because of that.
I want Scar to win because this entire season has been him fighting against what the secret keeper pushes onto him, with him not wanting to be the villain but repeatedly getting villain related tasks, so him winning in spite of that would be so satisfying. Also the idea of Scar, who has spent previous seasons constantly fighting to make friendships, winning the season where everyone on the server hates him does something to me the vibes are just immaculate. Also also! Please let him win he’s come so close so many times 😭
I want Gem to win because Geminislay next question. lol but actually I think it would be really funny if she joined the server for the first time, killed all her friends, won, and then left. Also something something her bringing the boogeyman curse to a season that was never supposed to be cursed in that way, and then fighting her way to victory is really cool. Also also Gem is just cool so I want to see that victory
I want Impulse to win because he’s gotten so close in like almost every season before this!!! He got second last time please just let him win and go apeshit, he deserves it I think. Also last yellow??? He deserves to pop off in the final session and take the win
I want Bdubs to win because this season has been peak Bdubs allying with half the people on the server, and he deserves to win at his worst /j But seriously his perspective so far has been one of my favorites this season because of how funny he is. He spent over an episode building the world when he didn’t even need to. He was murdered by Scar when both of them were green. He has a room in the Roomies base when he’s not even part of their group. He’s so silly he deserves to murder Scar in revenge for his first death and then gloat as he wins.
I want Joel to win because he deserves to go apeshit and then not die from recklessness. I think he should be insane and murder a bunch of people while still staying alive, like Last Life but without the ending part. His base is filled with joy but he is not, and that’s hilarious to me. Please let Joel win one of these he’s come so close
I want BigB to win because out of everyone in secret life he was the one to truly take the ‘secret’ part of the title to its very max. BigB gaslighting everyone he comes into contact with for literally no reason is my favorite part of secret life lol. He should win just for that as well as having the funniest life series base ever. Also his storylines tend to get ignored by a bunch of the fandom, and while it’s definitely improved a lot this season, it still could be better, so I’m hoping he wins just so more people will watch his perspective 😭
I want Skizz to win because like BigB, he is seriously underrated. He still doesn’t have 100k!! Subscribe to him right now!! But other than that, he also deserves to win just because it’d be funny if, now that he’s lived past the third death, he promptly switched his curse as far around as possible and just won lolol. Also also the Heart Foundation has been one of the silliest groups ever, and their base was really cute while it lasted, so any of the members of that group deserve to make it far if just for that. Plus him immediately going after Tango once he got infected with boogeyman was very funny. You go king! Drag your friends down with you! In conclusion Skizz is very funny and deserves to win purely because of that as well as the underdogness of it all.
I want Tango to win because of the Heart foundation stuff I mentioned with Skizz, but also he deserves to win just so he can break his curse of always having a kinda stupid final death 😔 I think it would be really funny if he broke that curse in the coolest way possible, and then in every season after this one he immediately goes right back to silly final deaths.
(Also if a previous winner won this season again I would not be upset as all of them have storylines this season that are really good for it, I just want them to win a little less than the others)
This season has been incredible so far, and it might even end up being my favorite season yet!

Thirst: A Ten Year Retrospective
On June 7th, 2013, at 7:30 PM, The Hub Network aired Transformers Prime’s 60th episode. Title: Thirst. Just five episodes before the conclusion of the series (and a post-series “movie”), the last few episodes of any serialized show can have a lot weighing on them, as you need to wrap up story threads in a satisfying fashion.
For me though, Thirst missed the mark. Pretty hard.
Tumblr media
When this episode aired, I hated it. And when posting my grievances on Tumblr, I was met with a lot of backlash. This naturally compounded the hatred I ended up brewing for this episode, as I felt as though couldn’t even talk about it with people without hearing some seriously stupid counterpoints or outright attacks to my character over not liking an episode of a children’s cartoon to sell toys.
Well, a lot of time has passed since then. It’s been a decade and I want to lay this whole thing to rest. I was 16 and still in high school when it aired, and now I’m a whole ass married 26 year old adult with a job. So I feel that getting all of my thoughts and feelings out, while also reflecting on how the Transformers fandom (and myself) have changed, might finally quell this beast for good. Aiming for the spark, as it were.
Skip the readmore if you don’t want to encounter a genuinely and insanely long post full of rambling and Transformers media consumption.
Naturally, disclaimers, because this is the internet.
Don’t go and read this and give any guff to anyone who worked on this episode or in Transformers Prime in general. I shouldn’t have to say this. Even as I speculate over what writer’s intentions or unconscious biases were back in 2013, it still gives nobody any reason to find these people and bother them. I’m allowed to criticize a show but I see no need for anybody to send shit to people who were likely just trying to get their paycheck from Hasbro.
Another disclaimer: I don’t have any problem with people who like or love this episode. I have friends who do. And I can see what positive points about it shine out for them. But I’m still allowed to have differing feelings about it and express them. At the crux of it, I think it’s just that simple. Everybody should be able to coexist within a fandom and deal with someone not liking your favorite episode or someone loving an episode you hate.
And I think one last disclaimer: the fact is that a lot of my anger towards this episode is partially baked in due to immediate fandom reactions at the time of release and my own disappointment in the episode not being what I hoped it to be. I’m going to dissect that where possible in this post. But fundamentally, I just don’t understand people who are like “you can’t hold it against a piece of media for not being what you wanted it to be” in regards to being misled. There’s a vast difference between letting fan theories get in the way of the author’s intent and being misled due to the way something is advertised. And while yes, the show isn’t to blame for how the fandom reacted to the episode, it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. How could it not? Human brains are wired for pattern recognition. How am I supposed to forget the way I was treated for not liking this episode? How am I supposed to be objective about this short of amnesia to experience the episode for the first time all over again?
Anyways, now that that’s out of the way, let’s dive in!
Now let it be known that I was thrilled for this episode. I was an avid Transformers Prime watcher. I made a whole event around every new episode airing. And I watched the promos like a hawk. I was obsessed with Transformers Prime when it was airing and convinced that it was a masterpiece. Truly, the apex of Transformers media.
youtube
So, the promotions really emphasized the zombie aspect of this episode, with a sneak peak at what they would look like. I don’t consider myself a horror fan by any means, I’ve always been squeamish and jumpy, but I think there’s an aspect of horror that lends itself to the curious mind. I wanted this episode to be scary. Knowing the Y-7 rating, I knew that this was going to be horror that likely fell within my comfort zone while also possibly pushing the envelope a bit. After all, Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky had spoken at length about how much violence he could get under the radar in kid’s TV by having all of the “gore” be robots and aliens. I assumed that this episode was going to do much of the same.
Let me get it out of the way right now, one good thing about Thirst is the “zombicon” designs. I think they’re great. Personally would not change a thing about them, they’re pretty darn perfect.
But, being a weenie, I did try my hardest to steel myself against what the episode might throw at me. I was expecting the absolute worst they could get away with in regards to robot gore and violence and jumpscares. I wanted this episode to be scary. Sure, Y-7 scary, but still scary. I probably expected too much, given that I didn’t understand why shows stuck so hard to just 22 minute time slots at the time. But I was an easily startled kid, I figured they could still deliver... And, well... I just didn’t get that at all.
More or less, the episode rips itself into pieces. If one is being generous, about 1/3rd of the episode is veering on horror. But 2/3rds of the runtime are easily just comedic slapstick and banter between Knock Out and Starscream. While this is fine, it certainly wasn’t to my taste and was a let down. This episode obviously really really wanted to be funny and Decepticon focused. And while it was the only episode of Prime to not have a single Autobot in it, I still found its humor to be. Well.
Now, a tangent:
The writers and this series relationship with its queer-coded characters is complex and strange, to say the least. While I do love and appreciate a gay villain, it’s still very telling that the most flamboyant and clearly gay acting characters are Decepticons. Starscream in his literal stiletto heels and effeminate shrieks, Knock Out with his foppish behavior and just about everything said behind the scenes about him... It’s undeniable that they’re intended to be read as gay and it feels as though it varies from episode to episode whether them being gay is supposed to be humorous, relatable, or dastardly.
Thirst definitely feels like... The worst of this to me.
I’m going to focus more on Knock Out, just because he’s realistically more near and dear to my heart. But the fact is, I saw myself in these characters growing up. I was a young queer with no representation in the media I enjoyed. So of course I would cling to the gay, sexy robot. Regardless of if writers wanted him to be someone the audience saw themselves in, I did.
Of course, I believe at this point that everyone is familiar with “The Botcon Incident”.
Tumblr media
[ALT TEXT : When asked at BotCon 2011, the Prime writers said that there is no designation for gay, or straight, for that matter, on Cybertron, where Transformers are created by the AllSpark, not through sexual reproductions. They also said that Knock Out is a knock out, and that the Nemesis is a very "don't ask, don't tell" place. And then they jokingly deflected the matter, claiming that Knock Out's mannerisms are not caused by any particular orientation, but are simply eccentricities caused by "a glitch in the AllSpark" the day he was created... which is unintentionally so insulting to gay people that it could create an awkward silence in the Void. ]
On one hand, Knock Out acting gay is seen as a defect. A mistake or some sort of source of humor. At the same time, there was still a lot of love given to him by the writers. In panels, they’ve expressed that they refused to let Knock Out be killed off (regardless of if any other character lived or died). Part of this was because he was really the big “original” character for the show, but part of it also definitely has to be some sort of genuine love for the character, I think.
youtube
So, it’s a weird act to juggle as a queer fan, right? The writers loved Knock Out but it feels like they still wanted to poke and jeer about how gay he was (without even really confirming him to be gay, but we can all admit he acts gay and that’s WEIRD, am I right guys).
To wrap around to Thirst: I feel like this is part of why I don’t find as much humor in the slapstick Knock Out/Starscream moments in the episode as other fans do. This feels like the most brazen and obvious part of it: the humor in the episode feels like it comes from a place of “how funny would it be to make the fags run around the ship screaming their heads off”.
By season three, the animation in this show became so beautiful and utterly expressive. And that’s a great thing. But the level to which they pushed Knock Out and Starscream’s run cycles was just... Like I get it, it’s funny when scared gay person does a silly effeminate run. Not to mention how these characters have established run cycles, we’ve seen them run before, no, in this episode they flail about helplessly because it’s sooooooo funny.
I do feel like there were undercurrents of homophobia in this show. It released in 2013 and thus was probably written back in 2012. To act like the writers room was completely devoid of the influences of homophobia would be absurd. I’m not saying that the episode is explicitly homophobic, nor that it’s homophobic to put gay characters in horror scenarios, nor that everyone who worked on Transformers Prime is a homophobe. But I am saying that this show was a product of its time, and 2012 was a very homophobic time, and that I think we can talk about that without assuming the worst in those bringing it up or the worst in everybody who worked on the media in question. Multiple things can be true at once. I just want to talk about how the vibes are off, man, it feels a little gay bash-y.
Part of what I’m trying to describe here is, to put it another way, would this episode have worked the way it did with any other characters being at the forefront? Thirst, but with say, Shockwave and Soundwave? Airachnid and Megatron? Or Arcee and Bulkhead? Or Ratchet and Wheeljack? However you switch this episode around, I’m almost positive the characters’ mere presence would not be treated as inherently comedic into itself. It feels very telling that this was a Knock Out and Starscream episode, because Knock Out and Starscream are the most obviously queer-coded characters.
Getting off of that tangent which I’m sure has already turned the few readers of this away, let me get back more into the meat of this retrospective.
Another thing that infuriated me about fan reception to this episode is that a lot of fans reduced everything to shipping wars. If there’s something that’s really changed with time in the Transformers fandom, thank fuck it’s the shipping culture. A decade ago, any and all issues I had with this episode got reduced to “You’re a KO/BD shipper and you’re angry because this episode had KO/SS moments”. To this day, I cannot express how such a dismissive and us vs. them attitude makes me see fucking red! If anything, the fan’s combative nature is what made me come to dislike KO/SS as a ship-- not the other way around.
The fact is, the banter between Knock Out and Starscream is entertaining. I do like that aspect of the episode. When they open up to one another in the bunker, it’s a really sweet moment! We have two Decepticons being vulnerable and open with each other, which is a rarity, given how cold living on the Nemesis is! It was a genuinely touching moment that gave us insight into both Knock Out and Starscream as individuals, which I really did enjoy.
youtube
The way they speak to each other throughout the episode is actually one of the things that makes me wish I could come back to this episode more (and hopefully now I can). It’s telling how they can open up to one another only to immediately throw each other under the bus the very next moment. It speaks to the Decepticon’s culture.
But anywho, there was also just the... Blatant ignoring of what actually was said in the episode to fit an agenda. Ardent “only-one-ship-may-rule” KO/SS fans insisted that Knock Out’s behavior in this episode ““proved”“ that he didn’t care about Breakdown. This thankfully has died off overtime in the fandom, now that more people can accept multiple ships coexisting in peace instead of making conflict where there doesn’t need to be any.
But even if we take shipping out of the equation entirely, you have to be either not listening or willingly deluding yourself if you think that any of Knock Out’s actions in this episode are showing that he did not care about Breakdown, regardless of if you think that relationship was lovers, friends, or just close coworkers.
“Despite your justifiable lack of regard for his human side, it doesn’t trouble you to watch what remains of your former partner endure your scientific endeavors?” “Not really. Besides, Silas once had poor Breakdown pinned to his lab table. I think my former partner would be pleased to be a part.”
This was the big exchange that really got under people’s skin. Watching it live, I loved this reaction from Knock Out. It spoke to what a sadist that he was and how he went about extracting revenge. He saw the perfect bookending of stories; Silas experimented on Breakdown, so it was only fit for Knock Out to experiment on Silas. Just as Silas had used Breakdown’s corpse as a suit to trounce around in, Knock Out would treat his body just as such. Just a shell, not any remnant of the soul that was once inside.
But certain people just heard the deadpan “not really” and just stopped listening. Like, I’m sorry, but these guys are alien robots. They probably already don’t have exactly the same feelings around corpse desecration as we do, and even if they did, Knock Out is kind of a freak anyways.
And once again, when I saw this episode, I was single. Now I’m married. I can see even more now how love can push you to weird, freakish, even ghoulish extremes. I personally could think of hardly anything more romantic than my wife torturing and experimenting on someone who wronged me. And I certainly wouldn’t be kind to someone for wearing her face in the event of her passing.
And the line “You’re no Breakdown” got wildly misinterpreted too. Somehow people thought that meant that Breakdown was “lesser” than Starscream, which... What? How? Like it’s obvious that Knock Out is contrasting his former relationship to Breakdown to the relationship he has to Starscream here. Starscream and Breakdown are vastly different people, that’s not to say anything about shipping. Once again, even if you only see Breakdown as Knock Out’s assistant, his relationship to Starscream is still vastly different to his relationship with Breakdown. Starscream is his superior officer whereas Breakdown is either on the same rung as him or a step lower. This is not a value judgement on either ship! It’s just basic chemistry and writing! One of them is a quiet brute while the other is a commanding fruit. I’m not understanding how this could lift up or put down either ship, so to see people do that (admittedly on both sides of this stupid fucking ship war) was just aggravating.
Once again, I can’t stress enough how by and large, the fandom’s attitude has shifted away from that bullshit. I see people gleefully talk about shipping all three of them together or just shipping their own favorite thing without needing to bring the other ship into it at all in an adversarial way. It’s great. Wish that could’ve been here all along. I could only imagine the kind of blood that would have been shed if someone had conducted the Transformers Husband Poll or Canon Ship Poll back in 2013, but now people can just have a good time with things the way we’re supposed to.
And then we get to the part where I actually take issue with the writing of the episode itself, regardless to fandom reaction.
Airachnid.
Tumblr media
Okay, so can we finally talk about this part? Because when I took issue with this when the episode aired, I got a lot of “wait and see, they still have time to do something with this”. Which. No they fucking didn’t. They opened up like five new plot points, for no reason, right at the end of the series, and then did not follow up on them at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t wrap my head around this, even now. Why did they even take this character out of stasis? They fridged her before only to let her out for five minutes to fridge her again. This is so absurdly stupid, like I still cannot even find a silver lining to this part.
Airachnid having a hoard of zombie Insecticons on one of Cybertron’s moons did not even get a mention for the rest of the series.
What was the point of this? Legitimately, was there some sort of reason they needed to write out the Insecticons so badly? They hadn’t really been important in any regard for a long time. At that point in the show, they were barely a step above Vehicons when it came to being Decepticon cannon fodder. Was there any reason to make Airachnid extra dead with more steps? Because this doesn’t provide more closure than her already piss poor exit from the show with her being in stasis, frozen in a pod, as a trophy for Megatron.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, would have changed for the rest of Prime if Airachnid had stayed frozen in her pod and the Insecticons stayed aboard the Nemesis. I can’t think up a defense for this, I can’t conjure up an explanation, just... Why? I’m still left feeling like this was fucking strange. Maybe someone’s femdom hypnosis vampire queen fetish, I can’t fucking tell.
Now that the series is over, I’m hoping at least people can acknowledge that this was pointless, stupid, and just unnecessary. Or at least give me any reason why this isn’t the dumbest thing ever. Because this was the big thing in the actual canon of the episode that made me go “wow, that was an awful episode”.
And while I’m still left scratching my head over that, I do feel... Relieved. The more I think it over, the more I can see how the fandom has changed for the better in a lot of respects. And upon rewatching this episode, I can better see the parts that I actually like. Sure, some shit still bothers me, but I do feel better about it now.
And of course, watching Prime as it airs at 16 is a very different experience than trying to rewatch it... Basically any time once you hit your 20s. I still love Prime, but I’m older now and can see its flaws, especially since we’ve got the whole story to work with. I still recommend Prime as a starting point to people with certain tastes who wanna get into Transformers. But doing a full rewatch of the series for me is a chore now due to some of the glaring writing issues and pacing. It’s a good show, but not the pinnacle of Transformers media I used to think of it as. And that’s okay! Tempered expectations help a lot with disappointment.
With something like ten years, a lot has changed in the Transformers franchise. We now have a plethora of canon queer characters and relationships, all treated with respect. We have a nonbinary Autobot in a children’s cartoon, and I know that would have changed my world as a kid if I had grown up with that. And while it sucks that my favorite character in Transformers Prime, Breakdown, got killed off so unceremoniously, so many continuities after that have tried to make up for it by having him survive and thrive.
Another positive note is the way my feelings for this episode have impacted my real life.
Back when my wife was still just my girlfriend, I ranted and raved to her about how much I hated this episode. How stupid it was. How it was the worst episode of the whole show. Back then, she had no interest in any media pertaining to robots, let alone Transformers. But something about how passionate that got me made her curious. She checked out Thirst, and concluded that if that was the worst the Transformers Prime had to offer, then it might be a pretty good show overall. She ended up watching Prime, and with that gateway, I was able to get her to watch and enjoy more Transformers media. Which lead to more robot media as a whole. Now we have so many more fandoms and shows that we enjoy together, all because my hate boner for this episode piqued her interest! Sharing my love of robots with my wife has been a wonderful facet of our relationship and I simply don’t know how we would have gotten there without this entry way!
All of this to say... I think after ten years, maybe this isn’t the worst episode of the series. I can’t be bothered with a whole rewatch to find out, as the episodes that bore me aren’t ones that I’d bother to watch again just to rate. The shit with Airachnid was mind-achingly stupid and maybe some of the slapstick hasn’t aged the best, but otherwise it just is what it is. I liked Silas dying, I liked the character interactions we got between Starscream and Knock Out, I always adore Darren Norris’ performance as Knock Out and this episode does wonders to show off his skill (“Precisely my-- WHAT”), and the zombie designs were pretty baller.
I thank this episode for what it’s given to me, I’m going to let go of the ghosts of fandom’s past, and now I set it all free.
Here’s the whole episode on Youtube, TFwiki just links these if they’re available, apparently.

Watching “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” (1969-1970 CBS) + Thoughts
Episode 24: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf
Background/Scenery Art lovely as usual.
Dear colorists for the series, did you seriously believe werewolves have technicolor fur or were executives more interested in crooks in bright colors?
Camping episode! Also, color/design-coded tents so we know the boys sleep in the purple one with flowers and the girls use the light blue one with teal tie-dye designs (jk)
Daphne calls Shaggy and Scooby the Laurel and Hardy of their group. I wanna know who is the Laurel and who is the Hardy.
Tumblr media
Scooby gets a pup tent of his own. Maybe. It’s a work in progress at least.
“There’s nothing I like better than food, unless it’s more food!”
Camera takes the time to focus on each character’s respective reaction of alarm upon hearing the titular werewolf’s howl.
Werewolf apparently has an invisibility cloak with holes for his eyes bc we see them not peaking out of darkness but right on top of a background of forest trees.
Ok who was in charge of the size ratio of the tents bc when we first saw them they seemed to be the height of an average man while Scooby’s was half his size but now suddenly it’s big enough to fit both him and Shaggy while the other tents are the size of huts???
It’s a good thing an artist made an effort to make Daphne place a hand on Fred’s shoulder again so I can recognize this as a Fraphne moment. (I say this both lovingly and teasingly.)
Look Shaggy you ditched Scoob earlier for food while his face was stuck in a tent; are you really going to be annoyed by him swiping your snacks?
Velma is able to tell that the footprints Scooby find that while they have the appearance of a large wolf, the repeated shapes indicate that it is a bipedal being as opposed to a quadrupedal one.
Animation Goof: Velma almost had the mother of double chins for a moment before the color of her turtleneck’s top reverted back to orange.
Graveyard! Fred think’s it’s sus that there is a fresh grave dug in such an old place. I know it is probably related to treasure hunting, but wouldn’t it be interesting if this episode’s masked menace was a murderer this time??
Fred , Velm, and Daph have no problem looking into a coffin while Shag and Scoob are more squeamish.
Silas Long doesn’t sound like a werewolf name to me, but who am I to judge?
Fred grabs Shaggy and Scoob by the shirt/tail before they run away. Shaggy carries a pair of scissors for situations like this so he can resume running. Fred just grabs them again.
“Oh-swell-it-ain’t-bad-enough-we’re-following-a-werewolf-now-it-looks-like-it’s-the-GHOST-of-a-werewolf!!” These are technically two separate sentences but the speed and delivery of these lines by the VA was so funny 😆
Also, I’d argue that it’s a zombie werewolf, since it’s leaving tracks.
SQUEE!! Frelma standing super close on one side of an old mill’s entrance, and Shaphne also standing super close on the other side with enough space dividing one ship from the other!! đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ„° also Scooby’s there.
Aaaand in the next scene, suddenly they’re mixed up again despite not moving (guess somebody wanted to fix the ‘mistake’ and move Daph right back to Fred’s side where Velma was and visa versa so now Velms is with Shaggy)
“We’ll split up. I’ll take the girls this wa—!” “Yeah, yeah*, I know. And Scooby and me will go the other way.” *admittedly I added a second yeah, but come on XD I couldn’t be the only one hearing Shaggy’s inner sass at Fred’s usual divisions of their group.
Scared-by-a-frightening-monster-only-to-discover-it’s-a-warped-shadow/reflection-of-a-tiny-and-harmless-creature gag
Guys. Please just turn around. He’s right there. Not even 6 feet behind you. Making loud steps. How can Scooby smell tracks but not a living, breathing stranger right next to them? I call shenanigans, writers!

What is a stronger word for shenanigans that isn’t crossed with a curse word to describe the ridiculousness of the scenes that just followed? 😑
A tribal mask (little easter egg paying tribute to the prior episode?)
HAHAHAHA!!!! Ok I’m still annoyed by the previous scenes, but Shaggy pulling the mask and accidentally making the werewolf he and Scoob had no idea was so close to them fall through a trap door got me đŸ€Ł
Upon the trio coming across a map in a secret room, Daphne is about to correctly deduce that whoever they are looking for is a costumed criminal since ghost don’t need maps to find things when the Werewolf attacks.
Heh they all crash into each other upon reuniting.
Ah, here comes the chase scene music with singers we didn’t get last episode. Strange to admit I missed it.
Animation Goof: Shaggy’s running model is either going backwards or was flipped the wrong way.
Hey, I vaguely remember this song! At least the “Na na, na na na na” part.
There are many things ridiculous about this chase scene, but the main ones are: 1) the werewolf is only focused on chasing Shaggy and Scooby. Talk about biased; 2) Aerodynamic Trashcan Lids though honestly that is more fun than ridiculous 3) Scoob and Shag happening to fall into a convenient pile of wool.
“What do you suppose happened to Shag and Scoob after they fell on that old water wheel?” Bruh if you were watching the whole time and not doing anything as a potentially dangerous man was chasing your friend and dog—!
Not Fred-Velm-Daph and Shag-Scoob taking turns accidentally scaring and being scared by each other 😆
I kinda like Daphne’s model having her arms folded across her chest, even more so than when they are planted on her hips. The latter (and standard) pose makes her seem sassier than she actually is, while the former pose gives off her reserved nature a little more — at least in this series so far.
“I’d sure like to know how Mr. Creepy-Crawly fits in with all this.” “Yeah!” “Let’s go find him.” “Oh, why don’t I just keep quiet?” “Yeah.” Sorry boys, you’re the designated comic relief. You can’t help it.
Animation Goof: Is it me or does Fred seem significantly shorter than Shaggy in this frame??
“Come on, girls. Let’s go see where that railcar came from.” “Don’t tell me. Scoob and me go to see where it’s going, right?” C’mon Fred; try to be more creative. Shake the status quo up a bit!
*sees the shadow that is in the exact shape as the Werewolf Ghost that they’ve encountered* “Who’s that?” “And what’s he up to?”
Unless the window has been refurbished with new glass and frames, I don’t see why Fred doesn’t at least try to smash his elbow through it if it’s part of a supposedly old mill so he and the girls are no longer trapped.
Not me wondering why Shaggy and Scooby are racing the railcar during their investigation when actually they’re running away from the Werewolf ghost.
Pop Top Barge
Shaggy and Scooby begin swinging on a hook trying to escape Werewolf, and I’m trying to remember if that’s the same hook that snagged Daphne’s dress and disrupted Fred’s trap in an episode I vaguely remember watching as a child. Is this the same episode???
Either Shaggy used Ultra-Instinct to switch clothes lickety-split fast or this is an Animation Goof.
Shaggy tries to distract Werewolf by cutting his hair and Scooby filing his nails and shining his feet, when they COULD HAVE used the barber’s aprons to TIE HIM TO THE CHAIR. Also I bet the shaved look doesn’t last, though I would be pleasantly surprised if it does.
Shaved look staying so far.
“Sure would know what this thing is.” “I’d rather know how we’re gonna get out of here.” This is why I like Frelma 😁
“Dr. Livingstone and friends, I presume?”
Poor Shaggy being bullied by Frelma when they find his observations related to the railcars and pop top barge hard to believe.
“You know how Freddy and Velma are when they got a mystery to unsolve.” Even Shaggy sees Frelma. Yet most known adaptations/reboots are convinced Fraphne are meant to be. Maybe those creators ignored Shaphne content that followed later because Scrappy had joined his uncle’s adventures???
Animation Goof: it looked like the costumed creep found a replacement mask with a head of hair, but the following frames show him with the shaved head 😆
Sheep? SHEEP!
“I think I’m beginning to get the picture, right Freddy?” “Right.” So much Frelma content this episode that was probably unintentional but so welcome!
Let’s see how well this plan of Fred’s works.
Animation Goof: Daph and Velma’s models look more fuzzy/out of focus compared to Fred’s despite being right next to him.
This IS the episode where Daphne gets snagged by a hook!!!!! DARN YOU FRED THIS IS YOUR FAULT! 😂
“I’d trade almost anything for a good, fast motor right now.” “Except me?” “Right. Anything except you, pal.” Friendship Goals, anyone?
Random Purple Fish.
“I’ve got an idea!” Hon, your last one didn’t work out so well.
Tumblr media
I’d call shenanigans over how Fred, Velma, and Daph were able to make/find a big enough net with a handle, find an area stable enough to stand on, find a strong and conveniently shaped support, and get there on time to save their friends, but Velma looks adorable hanging on the end of the handle so I’ll let it slide.
Frelma standing together again, then a bonus shot of Fred’s arm around Velma.
Werewolf ditches his commitment to the act and cries wolf for help before he plummets to his death.
Handsome Sheriff alert. Also, the “werewolf” is a sheep rustler.
Minor Shaphne standing together.
“Shucks, [the werewolf sheep rustler] didn’t scare Scoob and me for a minute.” Nope. Not at all.
Day 24 of no “And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids.”
Also, I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish watching all the episodes while balancing schedules and work since I’m not the breadwinner in my family and we might not keep HBO Max. Whatever may happen, thank you to those who are having fun reading my thoughts and enduring my shenanigans as I watch Scooby Doo!

Okay! Finished the second season of Good Omens. Honestly there were so many things that’s just tickled me this season that I wanted to highlight:
-Crowley saying ‘staying behind to die bravely? Good on you.’ to Maggie and Nina made me WHEEZE. Such a great line and delivery
-The Bentley following Aziraphale like an eager puppy was just so adorable, I wasn’t expecting him to be the favourite parent there lmao
-the end of Job storyline with Crowley pretending his two passions are child birth and shoe making?? I died laughing
-Crowley just serving absolute LOOKS this season. The black turtleneck? The hair?? THE 40s LOOK?
-Honestly the whole nazi zombies 40s storyline was my favourite bit I think, it was just such a cute and funny episode overall
-Gabriel’s jazzy sparkly suit at the ball YES GIRL SLAY
-the whole spooky dark green fog outside the bookshop when the demons were invading was just my favourite aesthetic it was so cool and Halloweeny.
-Peaking of aesthetic DAMN they amped it up this season! So many cool effects, like Crowley’s eyes this season were so subtle and ordinary in some scenes and so spooky and glowy in others?

Thoughts on a Beth is alive reveal at Comic Con?
I am wondering what your theorist thoughts are on the likelihood of a Beth is alive reveal this year at Comic Con?
If I were among TPTB, I WOULD do the reveal there for several reasons.
First, the amount of publicity would be outrageous.  Even though TWD flagship retained a certain audience until the end, it was nowhere near the audience it had at its peak in seasons 3-6.  Bringing a character back from the heyday may attract some of the viewers that fell away especially after seasons 6 and 7.  This is different than reveals for the flagship.  They already had a built-in audience and an ensemble cast and stories to carry the show.  If the audience thinks the spin-off will just be Darly fighting zombies in berets, many may not tune in for a repeat of the last four or five seasons of the flagship series.  However, if they think he may finally get a real love interest, find clues about the outbreak, and discover what really happened to Beth and where she has been all these years it will create enough suspense for the GA to give it a try.
Tumblr media
Second, it clearly ties into the theme of the last season of FTWS. “You have to go back to go to forward."  Morgan had to go back to King County. There he discovered what he THOUGHT happened to Duane is not what really happened.  Dwight is saying that he wants to go home.  Madison has to go back and fix her wrongs. There is a return back to where these characters were at the beginning of their arcs, but now they are wiser and stronger.
Tumblr media
Third, if they wait until into the Daryl spin-off is actually airing, it will not give the audience time to get reacquainted with Beth’s story.  By revealing that she is alive (but not giving much away in terms of story), they will still get the shock value of when and how she is found, the publicity BEFORE the show starts, and give the audience a chance to reconnect to Beth’s story and buzz about what might have happened.
Last year, they revealed the Rick/Michonne spin off at Comic Con instead of waiting until the coda of the final episode.  I think they should do the same here.
Tumblr media
The only down side will be certain ships will be mad.  However, as we have seen, they will be upset at almost anything.  I think they could ease this by playing up that this Beth could be very different than the old Beth and that Daryl and Beth are both different people and may not have the connection they did in the past
 yada
yada.  We know the symbolism and the end game, but it may appease some.
Thoughts?
TWDMusicBoxMystery:
I really love everything you’ve laid out here. You’ve backed it up with logic and evidence. And obviously, I would totally LOVE it if they revealed her as being alive at ComiCon.
My only hesitation is that now, with the actors’ strike looming, Comicon may be very interrupted or not even happen at all. Unfortunately.
The good news is that at least season 1 of the Daryl spinoff has already been filmed, and I imagine most of season 1 of the Richonne spinoff has been, too. So, hopefully the strike won’t affect our fall shows too much.
But me and my fellow theorists wondered if the reason they suddenly started announcing the air dates for next batches of shows (Daryl Dixon Sept 10, back half of Fear Oct 22) because they know they won’t be able to do it at Comicon. They usually wait until Comicon to reveal the dates and the official trailers.
Anyway, obviously I totally hope you’re right. But we’ll just have to wait and see what Comicon brings us, if anything. And here’s hoping both the writers’ strike and the actors’ strike get resolved soon! Xoxo!  🎆 💘

I still think that the beginning of the Whisperers arc is one of the peaks of the series.
Because up until that point the zombies were predictable. You know how the zombies work. I know how the zombies work. The characters didn't for some time, but they figured it out too. They were scared from time to time of the zombies but we as an audience knew more or less what to expect of them.
But here we are, episode 8 and 9 of season 9. And the game changes completely. The walkers whisper. The herds can't be easily distracted. The characters are on unknown waters again, and this time we're right there with them.
And yeah, the moment they started speaking was amazing, but the quieter part in the next episode where Daryl realizes that he has no clue what's going on is what really sinks it in. Like, this man was ready for it all back in the very beginning. He was able to get out of every situation with walkers back in season 2, even with a hole in his side and after tumbling down the ravine. And he suddenly doesn't know how to do it all. He's as lost as the rest of them.
Then there is of course Jesus' death, which was just brutal and easily one of the best in the series with how out of the blue everything about it was. Another part that demonstrated that the rules are gone and we have to adapt to the new game.
And sure, we get some sort of answer in the very same episode to what's going on, but still. That brief stretch in a total unknown was soooo good

s2 offhand standsouts vs flops imo
THE FLOPS
-spider milk. sorry. it literally wouldve been fine so you had to tack on an extra scary thing.
-the zombie one SORRYYYY i was getting so freaked at where i THOUGHT it was headed (you can see that the people are alive but computer believes theyre dead so you are obligated to dispose of them) that the zombie reveal felt like oh :( twas just zombies :(
-i am happy for amanda surviving and parts of those eps were good i just think The Anomaly as a monster was kind of a flop even in season 1..... ohhh people are speaking an unknown language . not scary. I hear people speaking in languages i cant understand every day because its a normal part of life.
THE STANDOUTS
-Speaker's episode/food that if you stop eating it you die
-SUBCULTURE GEMINI........... both extremely creepy on its own AND realizing its a dark twisted retelling of a dumb blonde joke . peak comedy-horror and a delicious taste of the robot dramaaaaaaaa im told will be incoming in later seasons
-the rose elf. I like it :)
-buried alive episode. i want to believe they found him
-all argos episodes/dr young/caulfield/cassandra like that whole web of ministory i really like
-redundant bc i saod the argos eps but resident faust was also peak comedyhorror. GO GIRL GIVE US NOTHING !!!!!!!!

2023 Summer Anime Review
Tumblr media
Jujutsu Kaisen S2 - Currently Airing This season is turning out to be some of the best animations I've seen from studio bones so far. I personally find that the story is coming together more and the show has definitely upped it's game. Part 2 -Good lord. We have been blessed and fed good food this season. Nanami simps won, gojo simps won. It's a good day. Maybe not for every single person in the show. but hey. For a real review: I won't lie, season 1 was good. Not great but good. The characters were cool, action was fun, and the story was alright. They honestly knocked it out of the park for season 2. They killed the character development with the prequel episodes and focusing on characters the vast majority of audiences enjoy. They upped their animations and the story has been solid. 9.5/10 - Exceptional
Tumblr media
Mushoku Tensei S2 (Jobless Reincarnation) - 12 Episodes One of the goats of isekai anime is back. I won't lie, the first few episodes had me lost and pretty bored, but I get it, it's important to kill the vibe before moving forward. Easily the best wizard school arc I've seen. Definitely has a weird focus on EDs but it is what it is, I guess it's the closest you'll get to him understanding his feelings lol. At the same time, definitely made the romance hit harder when it comes full circle. Weirdly enough, this season hit exactly what I wanted and the animations was more unique than I was expecting. 8.5/10 - Very Good+
Tumblr media
Zom100: Bucket List of the Dead - 12 Episodes This is one of the genuinely good zombie animes I've seen in a while. The concept is fun and the animations are fun. Definitely an uplifting series for an otherwise slow season. Unfortunately due to the production studio being unreliable, the last 3 episodes are on indefinite hiatus. Otherwise, what we've seen up till has been a blast. 8/10 - Very Good More under the cut:
Tumblr media
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale P2 - 12 Episodes So much angst in this season. The story definitely didn't feel as enticing as the first half but I'm thoroughly satisfied with the ending. I think, if they decide to do a second season I likely won't watch it. It feels like this season reached it's peak and came back down to a decent conclusion and I'm happy with ending it here. 7/10 - Good
Tumblr media
Helck - Ongoing - 12/24 Episodes This show wasn't for me. The initial concept was funny but then it kept taking turns and I lost interest. There's some decent humour throughout the show but wasn't enough for me to stick around for the "plot". Will be dropping it here. 5/10 - Average
Tumblr media
Lvl 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero - 12 Episodes Some decent entertainment for the background. Another take on what happens to the hero after the demon lord is defeated, definitely one of the more fun ones. A good one off season. 6.5/10 - Fine+

Allons! Allons! ah!
Today, a bull rages through the China shop that is our collective hearts and minds. Kamen Rider Buffa stands alone against the wicked witch Beroba. Two cows enter, one cow leaves. Best moooooooove it to your seats if you wanna catch the action this week. Haha~! Ohhhhhh, I'm sorry.
Spoilers, I guess...
-Geats is bleached like he's the Man of the Beginning. Throw him in the wash with a red sock and he'll turn pink!
-Good morning, Tsumuri-neechan!
-The God of Creation.
-Chained to the game, like his mother before him.
-Yeah you're gettin' it now, Keiwa.
-The squad're all posing together <3333
-Well! We did it!
-...huh, the Gang Riders were still a thing? I think I legitimately forgot about them being in last episode.
-"BOOOOOOOOOOO! THIS GAME SUCKS!"
-Did Jitto just call them "vips"?
-"Whatever, I've got a better idea."
-This must be our Azu for the season.
-Kuromuri, I'll call her for now.
-Or as the transliteration may call her, "Kromer".
-Goddess of Destruction.
-"This will be the greatest fucking moment of reality TV of all time. The Desire Grand Prix's Bad End Game!"
-"Rise, my son. We must battle."
-Oh hey there, Daichi.
-Yeah, you did that.
-"Man Daichi-kun, this was peak character writing right here~! I really liked how you made Keiwa-kun shit himself in anger by saying her memories amounted to nothing, that was sick."
-"Get lost! This is my tree!"
-Y'know I just realized that the people who watch the DGP don't really want anything substantial out of it. Niram-P wanted to make cool superhero stories out of real people, Archimedel wanted to make his children grow up big and strong, Daichi wanted to use, even the DGP executives have actual goals in mind (those obviously being profit and subjugation).
-Beroba, Kekera, everybody who ever sunk all their free time into this farce, they're all just doing it because they're bored. Is the future really that sad and miserable that banging hot alien chicks and curbing robot uprisings doesn't excite these yuppies?
-OH
-Daichi's dead!
-Oh, never mind.
-Thanks?
-Ohhhh!
-That's our Buffa! Keeping up despite the vast power difference.
-Awkward silence.
-Berdly's got nothin' for you, Michinaga.
-"A world-ending tree. Like Exdeath, or the Saigyou Ayakashi!"
-"Get the tree back, and I'll save her."
-They bought the Battle Pass.
-"Tycoon's my problem. Right now, this guy's yours."
-All that weight must be crashing down upon our boy Michinaga.
-"Tycoon, my son. Please, help shoulder that burden."
-Whose faith in man endures despite their sins...
-"Hey, at least we're actually doing shit, y'know?"
-"Hi, Micchi~! My oshi~! Guess who's gonna write fanfics about you getting your organs surgically removed while you're still conscious~?
-"Laser Raise Riser~!"
-Ohhhhhh! There she is. Breaking Mammoth Rosé.
-...God, I can only imagine what sort of horrifying scenarios Beroba'd inflict on a Buffa figure.
-Berobaba.
-Oh, the gun scales with Beroba. That's something I haven't noticed before. Though uh, I guess I couldn't have, but-
-Let's goooooo! Fuck 'em up, Michinaga!
-Zombie Strike!
-OH
-OKAY
-Buffa's Jyamashin powers just kicked in.
-I'm afraid you've lost, Beroba-san.
-Beroba, one of what seems to be endless sadists who indulged the DGP for so long, lies dying on the ground.
-Ayaka-san, you are a fantastic actress.
-Kazuto-san too, this scene is legitimately fantastic considering it came just after an angry construction worker just went Super Saiyan against a giant pink robot.
-Deleted Beroba.
-"For now on, Buffa's a Rider of Hope."
-"Oh, an old fossil?"
-Kekera Set!
-Keiwa with the save!
-"My ribs are poking into my kidneys and I think my arm is completely shattered. I'm sorry, Tycoon..."
-"Keiwaaaaa... that's not what I told you to be, Tycoon!"
-PLEB
-"Alright, stop yelling. Here's the serum."
-Sara-neesan is alive!
-"Keiwa, my spleen. I still need that..."
-Godhood is a curse, it seems.
-Ohhhhhh, that's a Game Master form.
-That's no doubt Jitto's. I wonder what kinda name he's saddled with?
-Alright, tune in next time~!

Some Of These Shows Are Why I Entertain Anime
Tumblr media
Everybody saw Dragonball, watched an episode of Pokemon on the way out to school or caught a couple episodes of Toonami, but back then I just thought of them as cartoons. Come to find out there's a whole genre called Anime, which is short for Japanese Animation. I didn't know how popular Anime was until several years ago.
Online you'll see people doing cosplays and big events happening across the country like it's a whole other world. But what mainly captures my attention with Anime is the drawing, the look of it and the messages. It's just fascinating how people can develop these pictures the way they do while also dropping a few nuggets of wisdom.
The genres I've been most interested in are adventure, comedy, mecha, sci fi and mystery. I also enjoy some fantasy, slice of life, cyberpunk, and ones about the military. Some that I've saw were pretty out there and not worth mentioning, but I'll share a few that gets my stamp of approval.
Erased
I saw this one on Netflix. I had no clue what it was because I never heard of it, but they tagged it under time travel and as someone who likes that stuff I gave it a shot. This is probably one of the better shows. The story was a little intense, though. It's about a little girl who went missing and later found dead. And this boy, who has an ability to jump back in time, tries all he can to prevent it from happening.
Ghost In The Shell
I think what gets me about this one is it reminds me of Law and Order. You have this gang of mercenaries who go out and solve mysteries. There's a lot of action and subject matter about technology that I can't wrap my head around sometimes. For instance, you have this lady who's a cyborg and has implanted memories of a real person inside their brain, or ghost — something like that. I can't say I'm all into that aspect of the show but I've enjoyed all the shows and 2D movies from the franchise. The action, the fights, the mystery, the teamwork, all that stuff I'm into.
Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress
I don't have much to say about this one. There was a clip floating on Twitter with a girl in strange armor kicking somebody's ass, and every since then I put it on my watchlist. In short, there was some type of disease or virus that infects people, turning them into these zombies called Kabari. So the whole show is based on people trying to protect themselves and their world from these mindless victims.
The Asterisk War
I think what's cool about this one are the battles. There's some raunchy stuff in here but what makes this Anime are the fights. You see this boy develop his powers and outmatch his opponents along with several girl companions who all happen to fancy him. I think any Anime that shows off characters with abilities or powerful weapons in a half-decent story is ok by me.
Space Battleship Yamato 2199
The story was really good. Intergalactic battles, a spaceship that inspired the Hadoken and everything you'd expect from sci fi. It's been a while since I last saw it, so my memory of it isn't the greatest. But I do know I enjoyed it enough to watch all the episodes.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
This Anime had one of the better stories. And for some reason I think about The Alchemist. You have this boy who goes on this adventure around the world, getting into all kinds of trouble with his team and still manage to come out alive. It's the adventure, the combat, the teamwork and story about redemption that makes this standout to me. Obviously there's more to it, like the comedy and even the low moments.
They hit all the peaks in this show. This one is raunchy too, but I think it takes itself serious. For instance, the boy is all into the girls and doesn't know how to behave himself, so he gets himself in trouble for it. But he realizes right from wrong and tries to do the right thing.
Takt Op.destiny
This one is similar but quite different from the others. Yes, there's an evil element in the story and the characters set themselves up as the heroes fighting this evil off. But what makes it different is music. There's a boy who plays the piano, he loves it. But in his world they can't play music, in fear of triggering this force from destroying everything in its path. So they have these angelic-like beings that take the bodies of certain people like a host. The boy I mentioned earlier teams up with this girl, who happens to be one of these beings, and they go out fighting off these monsters all across town.
What's kind of wild though is how the girl gets her power. In order to power herself up she uses the boy's life force. So there's this constant struggle between there relationship and the world they're living in. It's by far the most interesting one I've seen so far.
