Jerk Ford AU: Silliness IV

Jerk Ford's behaviour was way worse while he was in the multiverse because while he was in his own dimension, Stan was there to keep him from going too far, and to mediate his interactions with other people when it came to important business.

Once he fell through the portal? Completely unrestrained.

Here's a small list of some of things he's done across the multiverse:

Un-sunk the mythical City of Atlantis to get back at a 'sh*tty tourist company'

Lifetime ban from all Space Waffle House locations across time and space for inciting a riot because a waitress kept calling him 'honey'.

Had someone legally assigned to permanent Cosmic Jury Duty.

Sowing the seeds of an extremely invasive and fast-growing varient of cucumber all over a large city in the Cat Dimension.

Not giving his two weeks notice at Space Hooters.

Infecting a galaxy-encompassing digital records archive with a virus that changed every third noun with the word 'dick'.

Invading a weed farm on a parallel Earth and replacing the 'mother plant' that all of the other weed plants were cloned from with a strain of marijuanna thats identical in every way, except it produces no THC.

Impersonated one of the Bounty Hunter versions of Ford so he could fake his own death, collect the bounty for himself from the Ford Hate Club, crash the party they threw to celebrate, and then slip away right as the real Bounty Hunter Ford showed up to report that he'd failed to capture Jerk Ford.

Remember how in a reverse portal what-if Jerk Ford told Fiddleford he would blow up the planet if he didn't help him rebuild the portal? And Fiddleford called his bluff?

Imagine you're Bill Cipher, and an oddly calm Stanford Pines tells you that in three days, he's going to blow up the Nightmare Realm with you in it.

So you laugh, because he's bluffing.

Two days later, it turns out he wasn't bluffing about blowing up the Nightmare Realm with you in it.

He was bluffing about giving you a third day, because he's a jerk like that.

Boss Music? This guy isn't much of a fighter, he isn't a boss fight. It isn't hard to finish a fight with him because he's impossible to beat in a hand-to-hand fight - he isn't very strong compared to most versions of Ford Pines- it's hard to finish a fight with him because he's slippery. He's just going to escape and run if he doesn't think he can win.

If I were to give him a theme song or something, it'd probably be Dangerous by Jorge Rivera-Herrans. Mostly because of the "I have to get home" sentiment.

You have to ignore the fact that he didn't actually get himself home, just like canon Ford his brother had to fix the portal to bring him back.

Bro was at least trying to get back home.

Actually, the reverse portal scenario doesn't go quite the way you think it does.

Jerk Ford has to pretend to be Stanley. A school teacher. A resident of society that Gravity Falls actually loves. When he's been an active menace to society his whole life.

Stanley gets shoved into an unforgiving multiverse full of monsters, demons, aliens, and versions of his brother who project their resentment and anger towards their actual twin onto him instead as a proxy.

And they both ask themselves: "What would my brother do in this situation?"

Fun fact: Jerk Ford is the reason there's no gnome queen.

While he was studying the gnomes during his researcher years in Gravity Falls, he discovered that the Gnomes only had one female, who was their queen by default.

Anyways he talks to her about how her greatest ambition in life shouldn't be having a hundred husbands and being barefoot and pregnant forever. No, her greatest ambition in life should be being one of the greatest hat models the world has ever known.

Anyways now she lives in New York, she may or may not also be a drug lord in the pixie dust cartel.

Soos, Mabel, and Dipper tried asking the mail box questions once.

It sent them a really long, angry, rambling letter starting with "What the f*ck did you just f*cking say about me, you little b*tch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals,"

Later on Dipper asked Ford about it, and he reveals that he traumatized the entity on the other side of the mailbox by sending it the question "is your refrigerator running?" every day for almost six years straight.

hey guys i dont think anybody worried but id like to say, im still alive. i havent been at all active anywhere and likely will not be for the foreseeable future unless a miracle happens

you might have at least noticed i did not do anything at all on artfight

why is this..? well:

i have had severe mental issues. these issues have been here for years since i can remember really, but they have been worsening, and have become way too much this year

you might know ive had some weird episodes and really bad coping mechanisms if youve looked into me properly

my parents discovered this just recently, and after a relapse ive been forced into isolation at my house, mostly unable to speak to my friends (only have done so about 3 times in nearly 50 days of this) and completely banned from using a phone or computer.

im a sneaky guy alright i do manage to sneak in a few times because otherwise id have given up or gone even more insane

i am now beginning to see a proffessional for these issues (and i have to keep them under control while i get assessed first, in fear of getting beaten again by my parents OR involuntarily admitted into a mental hospital)

i ccant put into words just how much i miss everything

and i do not know if i will ever make a proper return unless i get out of here but i really hope they get some sense knocked into them

that is if i can get out of here, because they've expressed that they will most likely use whatever i get diagnosed with as a weapon against me to keep me with them under the guise of me being unable to care for myself or being a danger to myself

some things that may or may not happen after the ending of Swan Lake

I. Siegfried is left alone. He will always be alone. He dies an old man at the edge of a lake.

II. Siegfried is alone. He will always be alone. He dies a young man in the middle of a lake.

III. Siegfried is alone. He is alone until the night after the party, when a swan appears at his bedroom window. He has never seen the glow of moonlight on her wings before, and the sight makes him cry.

When he opens the shutters, she settles next to him on his featherbed. She can’t cry anymore, but she bops him on the head a few times.

“Can you still understand me?” he asks. “Odette. Please. Tap my hand if you understand me.”

The swan doesn’t move, until the prince offers more shrimp.

XVIII. Siegfried isn’t alone, until he is. Because swans mate for life, but that life is only a decade or so. When she dies, he calls for a week of mourning throughout the kingdom.

And when she dies, there’s a part of him—a part that he hates—that feels free.

XIX. Siegfried isn’t alone. Because Von Rothbart is defeated, somewhere. Maybe he cursed the wrong princess. Maybe he fell and broke his hip. All anyone know for sure is that one morning, there is a woman lying on the cushions reserved for the swan.

Salad and shellfish go out of favor, as the new queen refuses to eat them.

XX. Siegfried is alone, until a woman shows up at the castle. She’s wearing a white dress splattered with blood, and carrying what appears to be the severed wing of a giant owl. The prince mounts it on the wall above their thrones.

XXI. They live happily ever after.

XXII. Or, they don’t.

DEMECIA CIVIL WAR ON THE HORIZON!

The latest reports from Demecia have come in, and it's not looking good, folks.

After the confirmed assassination of King Jarvan Lightshield III, his son and successor. The now King, Jarvan Lightshield IV, has made a declaration that any and all mages and potential mages will be subjected to registration and regular report ins. Or at least that is what the public announcement was.

Recent reports have shown a different reality altogether. Anonymous sources have reported mages, being arrested on the street and dragged away without their rights being delivered to them.

It has also been reported that those housing mages or potential mages, such as friends, family, and even landlords and ladies, have also been subjected to the same treatment.

King Jarvan IV originally stated that the decision to have mages report in for registration, was a bid to ease the mind of "everyday civillians" as well as root out the supposed second conspirator in King Jarvan Lightshield III assassination.

But these recent arrests have pointed at the main motivation behind Jarvan IV actions, as nothing more than a grief-stricken son using his fathers death as an excuse to lay blame upon the heads of those he has held in contempt his entire life.

Jarvan IV has never made it a secret on his opinions of mages and magic, a stark contrast to his father who was working towards improving the lives of his magical inclined subjects as well as change the minds of those who have stubbornly clung to their bigoted opinions.

Let me as you folks. Who was the one to discover the late Kings body? Jarvan IV.

Who was the one to benefit and ascend to power off or the late Kings death? Jarvan IV.

Now am I saying that Jarvan Lightshield IV orcastrated his own father's death just to ascend the throne and bring down the hammer upon those who are guilty of nothing else then being born with magic.

No. I can recognise grief when I see it. However, where is this evidence of a second conspirator?

All we have are the words of Jarvan IV and Magistrate Tianna Crownsguard, a woman who has been advocating for the detainment of mages for years.

Demecia is a proud nation, too proud. Their backwards way of thinking has been a point of concern with the rest of Runeterra and Valoran for years, and it seems that Demecias proud as punch nature is going to finally tear apart the very nation they adore.

As of now, Demecia officials have called a ban on mages leaving the country. They have declared any and all mages and their families attempting to leave, including those visiting the country, who will be treated with suspicions and suspects of terrorism or conspirators.

I'm no clairvoyant. But if things continue on like this folks, then I see more than just civil war coming to Demecia.

Even now, Noxus has made moves to strengthen their borders and have announced their willingness to allow those wishing to migrate away from the coming conflict to take residence within their empire.

with the year coming to a close, its time to start thinking about some 2025 sewing goals!

starting off with... a soft shopping ban '''':) my stash is full to bursting and i have so many exciting projects i could make in there, theres simply no need for new things.

(im calling it a soft ban because im certain im missing things from all of my projects (notions especially, i usually only pick those as i finalise the design) and im not going restrain myself to my stash if a better choice is available, but it needs to be a purchase for a specific project only.)

ok on to the more fun things! im splitting my year into two (slightly uneven) sections- up until the end of may, im going to be throwing myself into costume work, and then from there i want to focus wholly on fashion & restyling pieces, as i have many, many things ive pushed aside for showy pieces in the past couple years.

Lady Stede Bonnet is my main goal of the year, she will be what im putting the most time into. a (mostly) historical robe à la française inspired by Stede's iconic blue suit. i dont have any base layers to work from, so theres going to be so much to do before we get into the main dress! as an ultra stretch goal, i also want to make Froggie Senshi! ill talk more about it in its own post, but i think its going to be a great comfy casual cosplay for the end of a long weekend. ill only be working on this one if i have time & energy though! (id actually really like to get a group together for this one but... logistics yknow?)

either way, post may mcm, im taking a break from making costumes! im not sure exactly what fashion pieces i want to make yet, i think ill see how im feeling when the time comes, but im excited for it! ive been feeling a bit constrained by my wardrobe recently, so im hoping adding some fresh pieces will revitalise it :)

I have 88 works in total, 31 of which are for Star Wars.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

574,873 words.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently, I'm only writing for Star Wars. But I used to write for Arrow and Supergirl, and ASoIAF, Dark-Hunters and Chronicles of Nick are in standby. I'm waiting for right motivation to come back to any of the last 3.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try my best, but sometimes I forget, and then it's been weeks and months since I got the comments that I'm embarrassed to reply them after so long. Even though, I think it's important that a writer let the reader/commenter that they appreciate it, even if it's with a simple "thank you" or an emoji. I know I'm being a hypocrite here since I fail to do what I preach, but it doesn't make it less true.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think that would be Drifting, because it's kind of open ending, left to be interpreted, so it could end however the reader wants. Although, I left an author's note at the end saying what's my preferred ending, which always will be inclined to the happy side.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

High Above the Ground because is the happy ending i want for Commander Fox and Riyo Chuchi. They deserve only the best!

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

No, not really. I've gotten only 1 stupid message of someone criticizing a fic, but that was years ago when I still posted on FF dot net. The joke was on the reader because I moderated all the comments there so I just deleted it and nobody saw it but me. Honestly, I just laughed about it cuz their argument was just stupid.

9. Do you write smut?

I do, all kinds -from the most tame thing to the most perverted. But I used to wrote way more in my old fandoms, especially for Arrow. I think for Star Wars I've written just 1 or 2 smutty fics, and tamed at that.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I've tried a couple of occasions but never finished them. I'm not opposed to them obviously, but I do think the combination of fandoms has to be just right to work. Or at least, when it's me doing the writing.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes! Many, many years ago in the first fandom I ever wrote for. It was awful and hated it! You see, this was in the stone age of the internet when fandom specific sites abounded and not everyone had an account on FFnet yet (and Ao3 was not even a dream). The site I published on was split in 2 sections because the ships war in the fandom was bloody and ruthless, so to avoid the slaughter, I kept myself in my preferred side. But one day, a friend who read fic on both sides told me that someone stole my fics. Avoiding to get caught, the person who did it published them under a pen name that was almost exact to mine, she only added a period at the end, which could easily go unnoticed. Oh, and she interchanged characters names so it'd fit the other ship.

At first, my friend thought I had posted them but she knew I'd never write for that ship, like ever. In the end, it turned out that I wasn't the only one who had being plagiarized. Several people ON BOTH SIDES were. Thankfully, the person was caught and banned, but we almost burned the site down because of the whole shitshow.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

By me, yes, several. All into Spanish (my mother tongue). By others, not that I know of.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Yes! A couple of times for different fandoms, and I loved it. I hope I'll do it again. The thing is that you need to find the right partner for it, or it can be a nightmare.

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

I don't appreciate this question, let me tell you. It's hard to choose. But I think I have to go with Olicity. I love them still (even if the show ending ruined it for me). Close second would be Braime (and I'm glad that there's still hope for them on the books, because as usual the show fucked them so but sooooo bad)

And as Star Wars specific, I don't think anyone will be surprised if I say it's Kalluzeb, right 🤣 They're my babies and I adore them!

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Anything for Arrow or Supergirl. I sworn off those fandoms after their respectively awful endings.

No promises, but there's still hope for all if my unfinished works for Star Wars 😅

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Coming up with ideas. So, so many ideas. All the time and I want to write them all.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Finishing writing the above-mentioned ideas. I tend to splay myself too much when I'm writing, and it takes me forever to get to the portion I really want to write (usually the idea that sparked the whole writing process) and I lose steam. That's why I have so many unfinished WIPs. I wish they'd write themselves.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It's ok if used sparingly. A word here, a phrase over there is fine, but if a wall of dialogue that the reader needs to scroll down to the notes or click on a tooltip to find out the meaning it's the worst!!! A better solution for a writer that really needs/wants to have a whole conversation in another language for plot reasons or whatever, then all they need to do is to say once that the characters are talking in the other language and put the dialogue in the same language they've been writing the rest of the narrative and in italic.

The characters who don't speak the language won't understand what's being said, but the reader will and their reading will be more pleasant and fluid.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

An Argentinian show called Floricienta. A modern retelling of Cinderella.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

I don't like this question either! All my fics are my babies! How do you want me to choose?!! There are so many I'm proud of. I guess I'll point the most recent one: Feed Me Poison, Fill me till I Drown I really like how this story is coming along. It's not done yet (what else is new? 😅) but what's coming is so so good!

is there a reason for this apparent trend of Extreme Credulosity on the internet beyond the usual advertiser friendly/made for kids/eternal september/no-discretion-just-endless-content reasons... like i acknowledge i am not the target demo here but it seems very common these videos with the spooky scary thumbnail about how this media was BANNED omg what could it be and what it be's is like 30 years ago in the dark ages of mass media conservative christians had the power to take bloodhound gang off their radio stations because it was too off color for their tastes. like i think maybe this is only interesting to me because ive been around older/religious people so much so i hear the decline of society thing all the time and like accelerated degradation of social etiquette and taboo and Young People are all culturally relevant and hip and with it and savvy but it feels like wrapping back around to this like extreme wide eyed...ness... very disingenuous feeling very obviously for profit... like maybe in my mind im overstating the cultural relevance of rotten.com and it just feels like EVERYONE on the internet used to watch videos of the cartel torturing people to death and now EVERYONE only watches 30 pieces of lost childrens media found in 2025 [12:28:56] number 30 a reddit user posted about a show they couldnt remember about a blue dog who solbed mysteries and a comment suggested it was a show called blues clues Lost Media: Found. maybe the powers that be have enforced the dichotomy of content creator/content consumer in a 10/90 ratio because everyone acknowledging their capacity for creativity and self fulfillment is not profitable and they did it so well that it cultivates this feeling like we *are* running out of new things (even though we're not) so we take the campfire ghost story aesthetics of like a whang video on mr. hands and apply it to whatever the anticlimactic drama du jour is because this form of presentation is established even if we don't have actual content to justify such a presentation and we're just scraping the bottom of the barrel for ad sense, content wise. the other side of this coin is of course that uber savvy misanthropic irony poisoning is also still everywhere and the grand old tradition of white kids adopting aave to seem Worldly is alive and well so when they say "blud thought he ate with the top hat willy wonka ahh chile 😭 😭 " it sounds like everyone else is soooo gauche and naive and you see the top hat soooo often that everyone knows what you'retalking about. i think i understand that a little more as a cultural trend/defense mechanism where the gullibleness maybe i want to understand less because im afraid the answer is everyone buying wholesale into the modes of thought that make them good youtube viewers, or, if not enthusiastic conscious adoption of that kind of thinking just taking the path of least resistance because real life is so sucks right now. honestly most of the time it just feels like everyone is talking to nobody online and our little jokes and performances are always just whizzing over the shoulders of The Viewership so maybe none of this even matters whatsoever

political hopelessness

the current state of american politics is terrifying, we all know this. right now i am once again crying over it. i posted on my instagram story awhile ago a post about president trump taking over the kennedy center, americas art institution, to censor it and ban "woke" plays and musicals basically scrap the arts and my bubbe my jewish grandmother whos family escaped eastern europe during WWII swiped up and responded

"this is what the nazis did."

that was about a week or 2 ago but i havent stopped thinking about it. i never responded. i mean what do i say to that? i know thats what the nazis did, i know that trump and elon are basically hitler and himmler re incarnated but what can i do? nothing. nothing thats what. im a 17 year old girl with nothing to stand on. the people chose trump knowing what hed do. this isnt surprising to anyone. a bill recently passed in the house that would make almost all married woman unable to vote (it said u cant vote unless ur name matches ur birth certificate).

no one seems to care though. people have stopped talking about these things. 3 more republicans did hitler salutes and all my global issues teacher had to say about that was that soon we'll be heiling the american flag every morning. my family didnt flee europe for this. they didnt pack up everything including their little daughter and come to america the land of the free for this. for nazis to come back into power.

im scared above all else. ive seen this before, ive read Maus, ive red Night, ive seen Schindlers List, ive been told the stories of how it started by my bubbe and zeyde and aunties and uncles. those stories all end with "never forget, never again" i dont want this. we cant have this again, to anyone. no one should be taken away, "go missing".

its all happening so fast yet so slow at the same time. massive layoffs, replacing workers with yes-men, pushing propaganda, outright saluting, making people pledge their allegience to one man who calls himself King, and sleeps with mein kampf next to his bed. weve seen this before. it wont be long until were all done for.

it rained that day. it was the 7th day of rain in a row. one full week of rain and flash flood warnings. it was so rainy and cold. my chem teacher talked about female scientists the whole class, my very cynical global issues teacher told us to get our popcorn ready cause it was gonna be a hell of a ride, i called my best friend when i got home he seemed sad too, but not the same kind of sad. sad yes but not mourning. we talked, talked about the future how uncertain it was and still is.

i know how he got elected but i still have such a lingering unknowing. i was so confident she would win "how could people not elect her??? she stands for all things good!! She has morals, kindness, she cares about people!" i got so blinded by my confidence i forgot the american people would never elect a woman. i hope in my lifetime we get a woman president but i think ill be long dead by the time that happens.

Generally speaking, I'd really like to see more valveplug that focuses on the part of transformers where they are robots, and not stuff that sounds 1:1 like human PIV sex. There's a ton of room to play with kinks that absolutely cannot be done in real life - as kinks or deliberate play - and a lot of room to do more than that, like that one time i wrote a whole fanfiction about transformers 3d rendering images to get their rocks off. I know why people don't - because it's hard to get the sex part across if you focus too much on something esoteric - but it can most certainly be done. But like. I can't lie I have completely different headcanons about valves and how they work than what I draw simply because I draw things that have to look good and recognizable and [extremely mechanical hole surrounded by bare electric plates] is not what most people recognize as genitalia, and most certainly not the appealing kind XD

Now that i'm in the Machineries of Empire... well, I can't say fandom because I don't really respect anyone else here so I'm not part of the community (sigh) but I certainly like it and would like to make fan-stuff for it, I have a good handful of female characters I want to write about. The difference is that they're characters with concepts I find interesting, which is, shocking to no one probably, the same concepts I find interesting in male characters. They're just not as often written that way.

This is quite long so ive put it under a cut! ♥️♥️

As a life-long citizen of the UK I find that commenting on American Politics can be a difficult and sticky situation. This is for two main reasons, the first being my own lack of knowledge in the US’s government rituals and electoral process. Many aspects are very different to the UK- government titles have different names, election seats are won in different ways, and concepts such as a constitution do not exist over here in England. For this reason, as much as I try to educate myself, I feel I will always lack the knowledge and full understanding that an American citizen may have, and thus, my opinions may be incorrect.

I also find it difficult to comment when currently my own country is in such a crisis. The UK’s current recession, cost of living crisis, and general political disaster of the past five years (in particular) puts me in a position where I believe its hard for me to criticise other governments, as my own is doing so poorly.

That being said, American politics is, I believe, not just a national debate, but an international interest that all countries should weigh in on. As the US has so much influence in the world (and particularly, the internet, where (rightfully so) it’s citizens are very vocal about it’s politics) and also the highest military budget on the planet, it is impossible not to look and comment on the decisions being made.

To me, the US seems a country with very contrasting politics. In some ways it seems very ahead, in more ways than here in the UK, but also at the same time, very backwards in many of it’s views. I personally believe US politics prioritises and puts too much emphasis on the wrong things. Laws such as rights to a gun at 16, legal weed consumption, and the death penalty baffle me. How are these things allowed but not legally consuming alcohol at 18, when you are considered an adult? How is a country channeling so much money into its military budget when it has such a huge issue with education and a medical care crisis? Why is women having abortions such a huge topic of taboo and debate, when the actual number one cause of death in children in the Us- gun violence, isn’t? To me at least, what the US deems as important in it’s law is extremely juxtaposing, and I can’t wrap my head around it.

Particularly in the last five or so years, the American government has scared me more and more. It is getting more extreme in it’s views, views I do not believe in, and progress seems to be going backwards instead of forwards.

I think anyone who is not a cis, straight white male in the US is at a disadvantage. It is not the ‘land of the free’ it claims to be, if over half it’s population seems to be discriminated against and withheld basic human rights. I feel a great lot of empathy for my American friends, both online and offline, and I am scared for their future under an increasingly rationalising government.

As a UK citizen, I am also scared for what this means for our country. Due to the ‘special relationship’ between our two countries, it is often the case that we follow the trends of the US. Already there are talks of Elon Musk donating 10 million to our extreme right party (which I find disgusting), and of aspects like women’s abortions and immigrants being banned here in the UK too. It seems, what is free game in American politics, is often soon considered free game here too. I am scared my government will take the same extreme route as america, and if this happens, I will leave my country, as I will not stay somewhere which holds these views.

Perhaps in the past five years I have found myself getting more scared just because I am maturing, and am now able to process and research into global events like I wasn’t physically capable of when I was 14. Perhaps it has always been like this, and things haven’t been getting worse. But I think not.

I dont know if its social media, or influential people like Trump and Musk encouraging and giving voices to (what I believe) the wrong people, but frankly, American politics scare the living daylights out of me. I am scared for the repercussions on the whole planet, and can only pray that things improve with more education and also a learning for more empathy for other people

your opinion on 2022 winter Olympics

okay so im assuming this is only about figure skating and i mean oml there was so much going on. below the cut bc i think this is gonna be long.

okay so FIRST OF ALL the kamila valieva situation. where to begin. (as a note: none of this is a statement on her except in relation to the 2022 olys)

the positive test being from rusnats and only being found out in february is weird. idk if we ever found out exactly why that happened? but i can only assume it was meddling from the russian end.

i think the media response was cruel, and i think part of that was a lot of people were trying to talk about it without knowing the full situation, but the amount of vicious hate and blame kamila received was unjustified. she was fifteen years old and in an abusive situation, to what extent she knew about the doping is irrelevant in my mind, the blame falls on the adults in power (mainly her coaches). eteri tutberidze is notoriously controlling and abusive, and there is no way any of that was happening without her being responsible. she controls the amount of WATER her skaters can drink. skating at that level, especially in russia, your coach is practically your primary guardian; if eteri told her to dope then there was pretty much nothing she could do. only eteri girls were ever going to go to the olympics, if she switched coaches that would have ended her life's goal (and the way they train is so all-consuming that to not get to the olympics at all would have felt life shattering).

should she have been been allowed to skate? i dont think so. at least partially bc it essentially proves to coaches that you can "get away with" doping as long as the people you are drugging are children. obviously having an athlete who has taken performance enhancing drugs is unfair to everyone else, but that goes without saying. HOWEVER i do understand the worry that the test could have been wrong or she might not have known, either way it would have been unfair to her. (the "irreparable harm" quote is always taken out of context - they meant that if she skated and was found guilty they could strip her of the medal, but if she was banned and found innocent there was no fixing it). ultimately though i think letting her skate was the wrong decision (especially since the case STILL hasnt been settled).

i dont think eteri told her to throw the free to make sure the others got their medals, because she looked so traumatised afterwards and eteri reacted so badly (ive never understood this theory tbh)

that was the first scandal from the olys but oml it was definitely not the last. there was so much going on. olympics from hell. lets talk about the womens podium.

(but first a note on ultra c elements: do i think the sport is suffering because of the increased value placed on jumps? yes. do i think artistry is important? absolutely. do i think there is a conversation to be had about the morals of training young children (especially girls) to do dangerous jumps that cause permanent damage to their bodies? one hundred fucking percent. things need to change in this sport. however. i will make repeated references to whether or not someone is jumping ultra c when discussing the podium, because that is how its scored atm, and i do think that they aren’t irrelevant (it is a sport, athletic feats are also important) just please please know that i am also taking artistry into account its just harder to objectively phrase in a short paragraph and this is already long enough). okay caveat over. please no one attack me. lets go.

look i KNOW the most pressing question is do i think anna deserved gold HOWEVER. have you considered. did anna deserve to be sent to the olympics at all. and this makes me insane because like?? skating like she did at the olys?? yeah she probably deserved to be there!! so it kinda seems mean to talk about this but ALSO i feel like we definitely have to not forget it so. the russian olympic team was pretty much based off of the podium for rusnats, which that year was kamila, sasha, anna. but anna in third place was veryyy controversial bc like. she had no ultra c elements at all (and her tech is DODGY so without them it gets even harder to justify her high scores) but elizaveta had a triple axel (and better tech) so a LOT of people thought that she should have come third, but rusfed just wanted to send anna to the olys instead (which i pretty much agree with).

but okay whether you like it or not she DID make the olympic team so. womens olympic podium. a grenade of a question. everyone is allowed their own opinions on it im not saying anyone is wrong if they think differently!!!!! also im only going to talk about the top five bc this is already wayyy too long.

i know on tiktok a while back the popular opinion was that wakaba should’ve been gold, which i don’t really agree with, however she absolutely should not have been fifth. no doubt in my mind she should have been at LEAST fourth, if not third. kamila should have been behind her i don’t care how many quads she was attempting, she fell like five times. she got through on reputation and the eteri bonus alone. kaori did skate cleanly, but with no triple c, and her tech isn’t great on some of her jumps, so wakaba (who fell on a jump, but had a triple axel, and generally better tech and artistry imo) could have come third and i would have been happy. anna i go back and forth on, because her artistry is alright, and technically she does jump quads, but her tech skills are SO questionable (her quad lutz is neither a quad nor a lutz). the tech bar for quads is lower than for triples, and i do kinda think that makes sense, but her quad tech is worse than most of the other quad jumping girls so it’s a fair comparison. i don’t think she deserved gold, but im never fully sure about silver either. honestly her, wakaba, and kaori can fight it out for second/third/fourth. in terms of actual skaters i like wakaba best, in terms of who performed best on the day i think you could make a compelling argument for any order.

that of course leaves sasha in first place. i know she fell on her triple axel in the short, but the only people who didn’t fall at all were anna (i’ll talk about her last) and kaori, and while triple c elements aren’t the only important thing, the skater who fell on one and landed five kind of has to be above the skater who attempted none at all, imo, so that puts kaori out of the running. wakaba fell once as well, and she definitely has the edge on artistry, but i don’t think sashas artistry was as bad as a lot of people say, especially in her short, so i don’t think thats quite enough to put wakaba ahead of sasha overall. sasha’s tech skills were so much higher than the rest of the skaters that i think it would be almost impossible to bridge that gap with artistry alone. lastly theres anna, who ofc actually won the ogm. two clean skates, slightly better artistry, much worse tech (i know sasha’s tech isn’t perfect either, but she’s definitely better – id say thanks to plushenko). annas tech should have been called, if not her edges then at least for prerotation. sasha fell on a triple axel and anna landed a double in the short, sasha landed five quads and anna landed two in the free. taking into account how poor her quad tech is, i don’t think that her artisty is enough to pass sasha.

however!!!! again i want to reiterate!!!!! everyone is allowed their own opinions on this!!! i do not give a damn if you think that anastasiia shabotova should have come first!!!! go you!!! to each their own <3

now for something that i do think you can wrong about. the reaction to sashas reaction to the scores was appalling. she was seventeen years old (a CHILD) in an extremely high stress situation and had been told by her (abusive, manipulative) coaches that if she landed all five quads she would win, and when this turned out to be untrue she got upset and had what was clearly a panic attack, asked not to be filmed and was ignored by every cameraman in the area, had to immediately go in front of millions of people while still being a mess, and was then attacked from all angles for being “ungrateful” and “showing bad sportsmanship.” show some empathy. (especially ppl who are still giving out about it now “on behalf of anna” when they seemed to be at least friendly again as soon as the very next day)

A band you don’t like that many others do: UM idk...my music taste is all over the place and I really only know the bands i think?? oh- maybe Mother Mother, only because I have not bothered to listen to their music past Junkrat hype videos and that's probably tainted my view a little. A childhood memory that you remember vividly: during a summer in greece, idk how, but I got roped into selling watermelons off the side of the road. I couldn't have been more than 6 or 7, but I remember I would put the watermelon in a plastic bag and the farmers thought it was really funny because that's such a...united states thing...to bag 1 whole watermelon in plastic. Anyways, they paid me in cucumber slices with salt.

What’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in? hahaahahahhahahah can you believe Game of Thrones wasn't the most toxic???? it was jjba. I got put on a ban list which was kind of funny. I also got kind of show-ponyed in a toxic discord server for a while which has completely ruined me in the ability to act normal on discord outside of my irl friends. that account is deleted but the ao3 is still circling around.

List three things you find beautiful about life: Friends and family- sometimes I want to kill but I really do love them so so much. I like creating things and creating things with people. I also really like my area as far as nature goes. the beach to swamp ratio sings to me.

Any dreams for the future? I want to go on a really long hike. Maybe like a 2 day one? (< says the person that has gone on a max 2 hour hike before). Also just working on my original fiction again. I miss those fellas.

How are you really feeling today? Motivated!!!! Im a little groggy still, but I've been really excited about life and betterment lately so its overcoming my sleepy brain.
