When Avi’li was recruited by the Lemures, his morbid curiosity about the process of becoming a Reaper led him forging a pact with a being of the Void; the being he met was Piera

When they met she was weak and resentful, but accepted her lot as it was simply the way of the Void to find yourself in the service of another if you are too weak to stand on your own

However, Avi’li is kind and his aether sweet and dense; powerful

Genuine trust and friendship grew between them, and eventually Piera became strong enough to exert her will and possess physical objects such as a paper lantern to better spend time with Avi’li

Piera’s voidsent abilities are used to power both Avi’li’s RPR and DRK skills

After Avi’li’s ego death in Shadowbringers, Fray and Myste were reconciled and rejoined Avi’li’s psyche; though still capable of utilizing most of techniques taught by Sid, the dark root of a Dark Knight’s power was limited for Avi’li

Piera supplements Avi’li’s Dark Knight training with her own darkness tinged aether, as well as acting as his avatar companion when he wields a scythe

Piera is able to possess and manifest as physical objects, and she manifests as weapons to aid Avi’li in battle as a Dark Knight or Reaper

Meeting for the first time…

When Avi’li entered the voidgate, Piera accompanied him in her monstrous greatsword form

But when they stepped through the gate, she appeared different in the Void

Instead of the monstrous boney visage she was used to, she found herself in a body she had forgotten long ago; she looked like herself

Feeding on Avi’li’s aether had ebbed away the corrupting oppressive darkness

What is Piera like?

Centuries in the Void have jaded her to the workings of society; she believes that it’s dog eat dog and distrusts and belittles altruistic motivations

Against her better judgement she trusts Avi’li; it was hard won trust born from battle and travel

She is covetous and protective; she hates when Avi’li is physically in the Void, territorial of this wellspring of aether that helped her grow strong

As such, she regards voidsent that approach as competition and handles them with extreme prejudice; she did not like Zero at first, though she came around to a cool tolerance

talking about rosabella earlier made me want to draw her so here's a quick redesign + beast form concept.

i like her color scheme, but i feel like her outfit gets kinda lost in a sea of dresses with similar silhouettes. so i swapped it out for a cropped jacket, a frilly top, and some embroidered jeans! i also find headcanons where rosabella can also turn into a beast herself super interesting so i tried designing her beast form, too. i took inspiration from how some beast designs take different elements from multiple animals.

my headcanon is that, due to a side effect of her father's curse and her connection to the spring rose, she turns to a beast on the spring equinox. typically, she returns home during that time so she doesn't scare any of her fellow students or cause any accidental property damage with how big she gets. not many other people know about her yearly transformation as a result, briar and darling being the only ones at school who are aware of it. oh, her beast form is also taller than daring's bc i thought that would be cute.

I love draculaura but her G3 fits are so mediocre, I've only fully liked maybe 2 or 3. Can someone please give this girl some lace and frills or anything even half resembling her old style

personally i think my problem with her is that she has such a strong black & pink aesthetic designers are scared to try anything new with her, so they all blend together - its like the complete opposite of clawdeens issue. its no suprise my favorites of hers are the ones that deviate from this (fearidescent + ss5) and also her gore-ganizer doll bc i think her face is beautiful lol

All right, before I post the first two chapters sometime this weekend, I’m posting the rough reference sheet for the first original dragon species that will appear in this series, and the dragon that Kari rides, known as the Dreadraptor.

The Dreadraptor is a dragon species not native to the Archipelago, only showing up and participating in the region wide raids in the last decade, so the people of the Archipelago don’t really know much about them. They’re a slightly less common species in comparison to the species such as Monstrous Nightmare, Gronckle, Hideous Zippleback, and Deadly Nadder, which can be found almost anywhere, but the Dreadraptor can be found in nearly all of the same regions of the world as the aforementioned species.

The trait that makes them stand out amongst other dragon species are their eyesight. Dragons have good vision, better than a humans, especially when it comes to seeing in the dark. However, most species don’t have true night vision, except for when it comes to the Dreadraptor. There’s no hiding from a Dreadraptor when it’s dark out, their night vision impeccable. They’re a Strike Class dragon, though arguments have been made to make them a dual-class dragon in order to be placed in the Tracker Class as well, largely duet to their night vision and they’re slightly better sense of smell in comparison to most dragons.

They come in nearly all the same colors as the common species of dragon, with the same occasional variety of red and purple eyes. Yellow eyes are the most common color, with blues, purples, and dark green being the most common colors, though lighter colors of other varieties aren’t necessarily uncommon. When it comes to determining gender, the only real difference is the crests and horns around their faces. Males will also more often than females have spikes on their chests, but some females will too, like how a ‘beard’ on a Monstrous Nightmare isn’t conclusive to the sex of the dragon who has it. Dreadraptors also come in a variety of patterns, some solidly striped, while others have spots, and some can even have a combination of the two.

I pulled a lot of inspiration from the dragons from Reign of Fire for the Dreadraptors, and started writing this story before I had either a name or even a solid design in my head. I couldn’t initially decide what dragon I wanted for Kari, nothing really fitting the picture in my head, so eventually I just made my own species. I already have plans to introduce a ‘false dragon’ species later on in the story, so an original dragon species didn’t seem too far fetched. I hope everyone likes them.

I've seen people shit on the new Helluva Boss character which I don't have any strong feelings about since I'm not a fan of the show but learning that she's based on Beelzebub. Someone associated with flies and not bees. Makes me unseasonably angry 😭 I just know they only did it for the bee pun and nothing else / they couldn't make a character based on flies look "attractive"

I mean, Helltaker did a more fly based Beelzebub. Granted, I’m pretty sure you romance her more human looking form, but it does still have fly elements in it

…sorry, I meant to say something more relevant to the topic, but I didn’t know what to say. Personally, I think Bee’s design is fine, if not overdesigned, but also I generally tend to like a lot of designs, regardless of what others think, so my judgment isn’t the best

But yeah honestly, I didn’t pick up that Bee was supposed to be Beelzebub until the credits, I thought she was just a regular, if not high ranking, demon. But ah well
