While Tech is taking the best nap of his life [Part 1], Omega and Wrecker joined efforts to make the coolest sand-Tipoca city there is out there!

"...now wouldn't it be a shame if someone was feeling extra mischievous today?" Omega thought to herself. Turning to her left, lips pressed in a smile, she discovered Wrecker mimicking her expression. Apparently, he had just read her mind >:).

Tech had felt such peace, such safety that he had fallen into a deep slumber, further fueled by his usual lack of sleep.

Tough seldom wrong, today he was.

Because at this moment Tech was, in fact, in grave danger.

- I have decided to make as many "beach episode" themed drawings as I can during the summer (and fall if we get there cuz why not) so i'll just post them as I'm done with each of 'em! I have SO many ideas for it and I want it to be a big project and not some sketches as I had initially planned. I want to make it WHOLESOME and HEART MELTING!! Whenever I get burnt out or need some fresh air I'll draw other things, probably still within the Star Wars theme because the brainrot is real🤓, but just letting you know in advance because AAAH!! this is a big thing for me and I want to share it with you guys because love is all you've shown me and I want to reciprocate 💕 🥺

hello again! i've got more energy left than i expected tonight, so it's prompts time now instead of tomorrow!

i'm also trying out a new type of prompt for these: setting prompts. these prompts ask you to reimagine your character for a specific setting rather than making changes to them directly, and then place them in it for the duration of the event. if you choose a setting prompt, assume everyone else who chose that prompt is in the same universe as your character and free to engage in fun shenanigans with.

1. What Once Went Wrong

This one's an old favorite most of you are probably familiar with! Take a moment in your character's backstory where they failed something or something bad happened, and explore what would have happened if things had gone more favorably.

2. Space Age (setting prompt)

Here's our first setting prompt! It's the year 2454, and the Pokémon world has taken to the stars with technology far beyond what exists now. Time for spaceships and planets full of alien Pokémon!

3. A Change In Circumstance (requires partner)

Roleswaps? Roleswaps. With your partner, work out who your characters would be if they were the heroes of each other's stories instead of their own.

I originally planned to run it as an event during a certain time period, but I found that making it an event intimidated me out of actually making the idea happen. I just think that I’m a lot more confident in my ideas when I don’t overthink it! Therefore, instead of running an event, I’m just putting this challenge out into the atmosphere for people to take it and run with it.

KID in his Shinichi disguise is a really, really good idea! I think you’re right, it wouldn’t go well at all—kind of like a reverse situation as had happened in movie 8 (i think?)—this time, Ran gets standoffish and suspicious at the disguised KID, she sees through him immediately since the real Shinichi is with her and shrunk. Meanwhile, even though it’s internally killing him, Conan is very vocally excited, incessant almost—he sees this as a perfect opportunity to prove to Ran that he is not Shinichi, and of course he has to stay close to KID to make sure he’s not up to something

Been thinking about my fnaf Revamped au lately and how I wanna tell the story of it but I’ve decided why not let y’all choose how it should be told

Mini explanation of the choices:

A fanfic: Pretty self explanatory, just a normal fanfic that would be posted on Ao3 alongside some mini companion fics

A comic: Also pretty self explanatory, the comic will cover all of the major events and not the smaller events and shenanigans

The ask blog: The story would be told in response to asks (some asks will have small drawings accompanying them) the blog gets, there would be moments where parts of the plot would just be posted, the more silly asks will get some focused time and answered, and y’all will also get to interact with the characters themselves during then

A mixed of all the options: Certain parts and aspects of the story will be told through all 3 of the options like for example the ask blog could be used just for interacting with the characters and learning about the relationships between them all, the comic shows just the important events, and the fic goes over the plot points in more detail

The fanfic and comic options would take the longest to do, I’m not a quick writer and drawing everything for comic pages would take a bit to do, the fastest way would be the ask blog cuz the responses would mostly be short with the occasional doodles to accompany them, finally the mixed option would take both a long and short time to do depending on which medium I decide to work on at the time tho the writing and comic bits wouldn’t take as long as if I was purely just doing writing or comics.

Another lil tidbit of information!!!! Regardless of the option chosen I’ll still be making lil mini fics of moments from fnaf 1 gang’s past, these mini fics won’t really affect the plot of the main story and just serve as fun bonus content for the au :D

Good and Bad news

Howdy guys! I don't talk to y'all one on one too much, but I want to keep you in the loop.

To start off, I am so super thankful for the support this comic has received!! This is my first real venture into comic making, I am so incredibly grateful to have such a positive reception.

Onto the bad news, y'all may have noticed my posting speed has slowed. I'm very busy in college (graduating with my AA this summer!) between a radio show, being president of the creative writing club, and keeping up with homework, which means I don't have a ton of time to work on personal projects, and when I do, I try to chase what gives me the most dopamine. This isn't super relevant, however, just a peek into my creative process.

The Bad News

Surfclan is going to go onto hiatus after the next two posts so I can work on the overarching story I want to portray. These two posts will finish Arc 1 of Surfclan, which I am happy with and have ironed out, but the draft I have for the rest of the series is kind of cobbled together and not satisfying, certainly not work I'm proud of. If I'm going to dedicate so much time to something, I want it to be work that I am proud of. As a writing student too, it's not right to put so little effort into the writing.

I went into Surfclan without a plan. I wanted a coastal set of clans to worldbuild with, but I had no idea for plot. I let the generator decide what that plot would be, which is fine! But I wasn't given much besides a clan that grew at a decently steady rate and got into occasional shenanigans. I need to put those pieces together properly and figure out how to best portray the themes I want in a respectful manner (right now, there's a heavy theme of colonialism that I just don't think I'm quite ready to handle tactfully.)

If you aren't using Surfclan, can I?

Absolutely! Please feel free to use Surfclan as background characters or cats to fill out gatherings. I am always happy to organize plots in DMs and weave it into Surfclan's eventual finalized script. As long as my babies are kept relatively in character, I have no issues with making it canon. If they aren't, no worries! It just won't be canon to Surfclan. Think of it like an AU!

When will you be back?

I'm not sure, but I'm always happy to answer DMs if you want to chit chat, and I will make a post announcing Surfclan's return when I am ready.

What's the good news then?

Surfclan was always designed to be a "for fun" project that I didn't put too much effort into, hence the scattered upload schedule and art styles, but now that I've experimented a bit, I'm ready to get into comic making more seriously. While I brainstorm ideas for Surfclan I will be shifting focus towards a new Clangen blog loosely based on marshmallow_cat3's Dark Forest challenge and @gray-thistleclan .

Cottonmouth Clan has distinct win and lose conditions and a solidified plot with mysteries to discover. I'm currently working on world building and character design that will be posted to my main blog, @antlermoss. I will have a post up there when I have my details organized with the rules for the challenge, of which you are welcome to use in your own games and comics!

I will reblog Cottonmouth's starter post here when I am ready.

Beetlejuice x Wordgirl AU

So. I could've just done this on the Wordgirl blog, but I decided not to- oh, and this was inspired off of a post aka this!

@rinnie-marylin I'm tagging you so you can see my thoughts and ideas and whatnot!

Now most of you who've seen Beetlejuice know that Beetlejuice attempted to marry Lydia as part of his schemes. However, this is not something which will be happening in this AU (because for one, no- and for another, this also has vague elements from the tv show!)

For one thing, Beetlejuice must be Dr. Two Brains - it's weirdly fitting; at first, I was going to keep him the same (as in literally just Beetlejuice before ultimately not doing that-) but someone I talked about this au too suggested it should be D2B. Also, as much as I love Becky as the lead - she doesn't fit what I'd been going for, hence why... Lydia's role is being given to Victoria Best! The Botsford's (as in Tim and Sally, probably the kids too maybe?) are going to be the Maitland's!

Though we're now getting to the fun parts, so read below for the cut/additional information.

Beetlejuice AU Guide

Victoria and her family move to a new house but fail to realize a couple used to live there and passed away under mysterious circumstances. I feel like the Maitland's (or the Botsford's in this case-) would still have died from likely a car crash or simply mundane accident - they refuse to accept their deaths and continue haunting their old place of residence. Victoria is not happy in the slightest about having moved, but of course she's trying to paint a certain image to her parents especially with their treatment of their daughter.

I do need to rewatch the first movie, but Victoria meets Tim and Sally - almost by chance - at one point; things are a bit tense and awkward at first especially when they don't treat her in the same way as the Bests (aka less like a prized pet and more as a person pfft-). She's wary but slowly begins warming up to them but at some point, the plan to chase out Victoria's parents is made and shenanigans ensue.

Things are not as developed here because again, I haven't seen the movie in a while but I couldn't not make this AU. Or I might grab a slime tutorial later!

As mentioned before, Dr. Two Brains plays the part of Beetlejuice and I like to think there's more of a familial and/or rivals dynamic between him and Victoria rather than he wants her to be his bride. I know it's like a throwaway gag in the movie, but I decided No.

I might consider a spinoff where for some reason, Becky calls Dr. Two Brains or something but it won't be considered canon to the universe! At least not until I find some way to watch the movie again tbh-

I'll revisit this idea at a different point, but for now you can have this nonsense!

the four chimes verse is essentially an amalgamation of my want—need—for badass max, max angst, elumax angst, just general party and co angst, apocalypse four shenanigans, several unexplored character interactions and dynamics, the four horsemen of the apocalypse concept, and everything else that comes with this plus things i wasnt able to mention its very self indulgent ngl

but yes, it's about the apocalypse four (max, patrick, fred, and chrissy) and how they get turned into the upside down four horsemen of the apocalypse aka the four chimes of catastrophe by vecna, and they become his way of furthering chaos and destruction in hawkins, while also using them to get rid of his thorns aka the party and co

its funny because this all started when finn sent an ask to his friend about how the four victims of vecna are paralleled to the four horsemen of the apocalypse

so robin is very feral yes AHSIFUHASf

im pretty sure i explained it a bit before but robin got hit by an arrow that was meant for nancy in the ciquest au, and because of nancy, she's able to find the will to fight back against the infection instead of succumbing to it, making it her own

One and the chimes sees how she's evolving and don't like it, so lence's suggestion of getting nancy takes priority, and so it happens

nance becomes quest and now the battle is on

robin is obviously devastated and the gang is slightly in shambles because of how much nancy brings to the table, and now she's gone—no, worse, she's being used for the other side

so robin steps up to the plate in multiple ways, trying her best to fill the void nancy was forced to leave behind

the burden on her is so heavy considering she got a power she technically never expected to have nor wanted, but now it's on her to make the most use of it

she usually questions why it was her who was in this situation and literally not anybody else who she thinks could definitely do better

lots of questions and wondering for her

now, unlike with renegade, she doesn't lose herself technically, but she gets close, like a lot

though should i mention that there was a little kidnapping that happened? the person who was kidnapped in question being someone who is very important to robin and may have caused a some strain and conflict for her and the chimes?

yeah, the chimes kidnapped steve to lure robin to them so that they can take her down

it was conquest's idea :)

robin was very much not happy about that btw

lots of things happen and as said, robin was very much close to losing it so many times but she doesn't for a couple of reasons

renegade is a completely new take and direction of ciquest and just four chimes in general, and im so interested in seeing where it goes, so very interested <333

i feel like im not able to tell robin's full story here, both because we want to keep some things hidden and also because my brain is kinda not working rn AHSFUHASF mb on that one

so the chimes. in our 68600 messages (as of the moment) of a four chimes dump, we've built up the characters and personalities of the chimes, and somewhere in this thread is the scattered information on them

now, i unfortunately dont have the time and patience to go through the thread to find all of the little information, but we'll do our best to give a good rundown of their characters

famine

wields throwing knives

very loyal to One (meaning he gaslit her so much for that loyalty to come to be, a consequence of being his first chime)

wants to be the leader because she thinks (and is gaslit to think) that she deserves it (One really likes to cause discord between his chimes)

having no prior connection to the main gang—or thorns as they call the gang—besides eddie who is dead and a spectre here, so she's the one who has the least moments of "remembering their past life" before

is very brutal and ruthless and likely the one the gang got the most injuries from in a general sense

death

wields a large scythe

my secret blorb

most likely to actually defy One, and fun fact, he has an au called the runaway au where he, a chime in the middle of the battle between the upside down and right side up, got to run and escape from One before certain things happened, which then causes a chain reaction in this au ofc

he's a coward, and this plays a lot into his actions and interactions

technically had a connection with nancy in the gang, but with conquest here, it gets harder for him to connect, but robin actually steps up to the plate here

war

wields a sword

is the most balanced out of everyone when looking at his loyalty and his defiance to One, in the middle of the pack in that sense

his past life of abuse shows up a lot when it comes to One, so he tends to throw others under the bus to not get caught in the crossfire (not that he wants to do this, but he also doesnt want to gain One's ire)

just generally very chill, the most chill out of every one here

is the medic of the team because of how he's the personification of war

has a connection with lucas in the gang, so that's something that gets him to "remember" some stuff in a way

pestilence

wields bow and arrows

finn and mine's blorb

leader in og, former leader in ciquest/conquest

if you can only see the rambles we have on her…it will take days to get through

will take the bullet for the other chimes when it comes to One's ire

vec has a tighter hold on her because she's max

literally connected with everyone, will have a lot of moments where she feels familiarity (and will subsequently get punished for it later)

the leader in ciquest/conquest aus

very protective of all the chimes and especially lence

vec also has tighter hold on her because she's nancy

last one to fall, was suggested by lence to be taken

more aware of things than the other chimes, but still completely controlled by One

same case as lence, but even more so considering she's been there since the start of it all (does her best to take most of lence's punishments as her own when One goes after them)

gets very hyperfocused with robin (vaguely aware the thorn makes her weak in some sense but quest doesn't care), but is frustrated she cant hurt her too much because lence will get hurt too (and maybe another reason deep down, but she doesnt acknowledge it)

they're all dog coded

One can summon them/call them whenever and its shown through the shivering cold in their necks, like what happens with will

One wants them to be just the way he wants them, meaning the way they died and got transformed into chimes must be how they are no matter what (this includes clothes, hair, weapons, and everything in general)

the only new addition he accepts them to have are new scars :')

the chimes have such a complicated relationship, but at the end of the day, post-vec, they love each other

note for them individually: there's a lot more that i want to add but my brain is blanking a little and i am probably forgetting some things, but here are some of the important things to note (remember this is incomplete to everything we wanna add ASFHUIASFh)

some relationship notes (by pairs, groups are another story)

min clashes with death when it comes to lence, but otherwise are fine with each other, neutral in general but are connected as the first two chimes of One

min and war are not quite friends, more distant than friends but closer than allies… (very interesting when you note how they were in their Before)

has a very one-sided antagonistic rivalry with lence, especially when it comes to the leadership position (this changes a bit when quest is in play as she's the leader, but there's still the rivalry with lence despite not being leader in ciquest/conquest), will be very callous in a way with her, but they actually work well together, especially as the similar twin concepts of famine and pestilence

quest is able to take min's bitterness mostly in a stride and keeps her in check from being too antagonistic when it comes to leadership roles and just generally (helps because quest understands them in a way, though she doesnt understand why she does)

death and war are more or less chill with each other, most cordial relationship out of every single chime relationship and the least tension filled, just vibing so real (though war knows death is a coward and death knows that war knows it)

death and lence are surprisingly close, only second to quest for lence (and death too technically, which is inspired by their Before), this relationship is due to the fact that in canon, max got to see and technically interact with chrissy, patrick, and nancy, but never with fred, so we saw it and ran with it and now they're close here

death and quest are more or less okay with each other, and their Before helped them understand each other better, unlike the other chimes' Before affecting their relationships in another way

war and lence are complicated, since war throws lence under the bus the most (especially in og) to avoid One's ire, and lence understands why, because of her own Before (and it doesnt help that she takes bullets for the other chimes), but they're both fine more or less

war and quest are similar to min and lence with the similar concepts, war and conquest, fire and lava, war follows quest to the T (just like he does with lence in og but more so here with quest), and they work well together because of their similar concepts

lence and quest are the closest out of everyone, helped by their Before and their instincts with each other, confides with each other a lot and are just helping each other no matter what, tho ofc this comes with the consequence of One seeing this "weakness" of theirs and using this bond between them to punish them when he sees fit

although here's a note about this too: finn said "honestly tho their relationships r So complicated its hard to capture in a few sentences", and i agree, what you just read is just some general thoughts on their relationships, but god is there so much more to them all, and if we want to really show you the relationships in full, we would have to ramble it all out ASHUFIUASHF but yeah

UNDERTALE and its fandom is something that, not even exaggerating, raised me. I could never let it go as it is such an integral part of me.

helloooo im not dead as i think i mentioned in the tags of my last post i just. dont have a ton of inspiration right now because unfortunately for my pokemon blogs starrail has grabbed me by the throat (i am fighting The Demons. the demons say start a honkai star rail rp blog. i Should Not but i have Many OCs and am Very Tempted). however that said i would still like to do things here. so. i am thinking. an Event. so,,, what would y'all prefer to see, i guess...? (i am being Indecisive and don't want to make decisions)

uhhh. okay so HSR Russet is one of the honkai star rail versions of russet i've made because i fling this poor guy into whatever media i'm obsessed with. little darker than the normal blog tone on account of uh... honkai star rail being Like That. everything would be tagged though. would essentially be a "faller" with his memories intact spending some time in the pokemon verse trying very hard to get back to his universe. lots of lore, lots of silly. little alien guy is Very Lost.

time shenanigans are... pretty self explanatory. you either see russet post-healing or pre-horrors (well. partially. the horrors of Growing Up In Kitakami are Still There, unfortunately). i can simply take advantage of the fact that hiroki the beloved does have a very mischievous Celebi. could also be fun and interesting and a cool way to explore the character.

1. What was your first introduction to TLOU?

Is this when I confess I'm a relatively new fan? 🙈 I first played the game in about 2021 when I was looking on the PS Plus catalogue for something to play, and I've been hooked ever since!

Finding out there was a show was just an added bonus, even if streaming it here isn't super accessible. I wasn't necessarily the biggest fan of games in this genre so it was an accident I stumbled across it, but I'm very glad I did.

2. What would Joel's favorite girl scout cookie be?

3. What TLOU moment lives rent-free in your head?

None.. he's on Atkins ✋️.. my terrible show reference aside, in terms of an actual answer, I'm not from the States so my knowledge of girl-scout cookies is limited to pop culture but after a bit of googling:

I think he'd be kinda basic.. he's probably a thin-mints kind of guy. Whatever Sarah would buy, he'd probably sneak one when she went to bed, in typical dad fashion.

4. Any special talents?

Tess' goodbye in the game was an especially poignant moment because I went into it completely blind - I hadn't had any spoilers and had no idea what was coming. I'm a big fan of exploring different types of relationship and connections within media and so I really loved how they managed to essentially canonize how important Tess and Joel were to one another in that final scene without having either of them out and out /say/ it.

Something about the way in which their relationship is so clearly this unspoken bond built up over the years was really beautifully done and it really does occupy so much space it should be paying rent

And for the show - I'll keep it quick here because I've rambled enough - but definitely the scene where they first arrive in Jackson. I'm also a sucker for found family and I adore how it leans into that trope as well as showing the first instance of Ellie struggling with that new dynamic; it's the first real moment in canon where she goes from being a FEDRA orphanage kid to realising she could have a real home somewhere and all that entails.

I love how you can see that on her face when they get there and she's clearly awestruck by the most mundane things, yet is obviously also struggling with Tommy being effectively this newfound obstacle because she has no idea how his presence is going to shake up the - already turbulent - dynamic she's developing with Joel. Safe to say I have an awful lot of thoughts about those two scenes LMAO

I wouldn't say I'm a super talented person all things considered but I am quite proud of my writing! I've been in fandom spaces for a long time but it's only in recent years I've really been happy with the quality of the work I'm putting out there; it's just for fun, but - as most fic authors on here can vouch for - I put a lot of time and energy into making the plot and the characters tick ❤️ I'm also a historian, which isn't necessarily a talent but something I'm equally passionate about!

5. Would you like to promote anything?

I wouldn't mind promoting my ao3 to anyone whose interested in reading some more TLOU fics - I'm roselees over there too. I currently have an ongoing canon-divergence AU where Tess, Joel and Tommy raise baby Ellie (who they discover at the same time as the Fireflies is in fact still immune in this timeline) and I have several others in the works: a Sarah!lives AU, a part one rewrite following the original idea for the game wherein Tess is the antagonist, and some Jackson!Joel and Ellie shenanigans.

Thess vs A Not-Great Start To The Week

Well, this is going to be my last week of being 47 and while Monday was okay, today ... did not go very well.

First of all, we have yet more unexpected absences. There hasn't been a call for overtime yet, and hopefully New Girl is back in tomorrow, but it's not for definite. And Scruffman's going to be away for the rest of the week so I foresee shenanigans. Mostly "Let's avoid the Annoyances and Monstrosities by any means necessary" shenanigans. Today was a doozy, with both "Let's just not pick up the long ones" and "Let's pick up some long ones 'by mistake' and then dump them back in the queue so someone else can do them while we're on a suspiciously long lunch break" being represented. It's only three more days until I get my traditional birthday week off, so I will try to maintain until then.

I maaaay have made something of an error in judgment about that, though. Y'see, I wanted to use my shiny new casserole dish and decided I wanted to try coq au vin. Which I am never doing again. That recipe is a nightmare. So much a nightmare that I went on my "cooking hips and tips for spoonies" blog to point out exactly how much of a nightmare it was. The chicken had to marinade for a whole day. Every component of the damn thing had to be browned individually - in the same casserole dish each time - before getting to the "make roux, add reduced wine from the marinade and beef stock, then dump everything else in" stage. Then it had to cook for 45 minutes. And after all that, the recipe has the audacity to say I should wait 24 hours and reheat it to eat tomorrow because the flavours would have time to blend properly.

...Which would have annoyed me a lot more if I hadn't accidentally poured maybe a cup and a half of very recently boiled water into the palm of my right hand. The pain's ... well, could be better, but it's improved since the initial dousing. I might have done enough to avoid significant blistering. And I have pain management strategies in place. But given my right is my dominant hand and the hand in which I hold my cane? Yeaaaaaah the next few days aren't going to be any fun at all. So I wasn't feeling like doing too much work with utensils after that and ended up with emergency calories - lunch meat, potato salad, and tinned peaches. I can have the coq au vin (which, to give it credit, smells wonderful) tomorrow.

And after aaaaaaaaall of that, I hear that our fucking government is considering taking hints from Elon Musk. WHO IS NOT A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL FUCK OFF.

So ... yeah. Not a great day, not a great move, and am concerned about the effects of video games on my hand but willing to try for a little bit. Also side-eyeing myself because I bought some Germolene (antiseptic cream with added topical analgesic) when I was picking up the Big Pain Meds yesterday thinking, "I might need it at some point". ...Well, since it's good on scalds and burns? That was prescient as fuck.

Not sure whether to ask Apollo to keep his dodgeball of prophesy to himself or what.
