Caleb had hated it when his brother had joined a Wolf Guard pack. It was possibly the worst idea that Jonathan had ever had, which was saying a lot. A Wolf Guard pack… As Crown Prince, Jonathan had had invitations to any pack in the kingdom, and he had to pick one that was actually dangerous. Of course he had…

It wasn’t a surprise. Jonathan had always felt suffocated in the Royal Court, which was only partly due to his nature. A wolf born to run free and all that poetic shit. The Wolf Guard Track sends their members across the continent. It was the perfect kind of pack for a young, reckless wolf.

Still… joining the type of pack that guides people through mystical forests and over treacherous mountain paths is a big jump to make from living in a castle. It’s not like the world was peace free, no matter what the kingdoms would have you believe.

And now look where that got Jonathan. Caleb skidded to a halt outside a door painted to look like the night sky. He wasn’t sure he could do this…

Nevertheless, he pushed the door inward. He couldn’t be a coward, and Jonathan needed him.

We moved on from Buck being the one to meet Kim at the station too fast. Way too fast.

Because hey, what would you do if the dead wife or a doppelgänger dead wife of your best friend-partner-almost love of your life showed up at your place of work with brownies? Would you ignore the date you scheduled in favor of driving over to your best friend’s place to knock urgently on his back door because you’re so afraid that something is happening to him. And you know that something is happening because the doppelgänger of his dead wife just showed up to the firehouse with brownies like it was just another Monday. You think you might have to push him to talk, but it feels more like your best friend was just waiting for someone to see him, and he is just as dumbfounded as you, and maybe even as scared for himself as you are for him. So you tell him that he needs to break it off with the doppelgänger of his dead wife, but you know that it’s more complicated than that, your best friend’s feelings, even though you trust him to do the right thing and end it with her. But you’re still not through the shock of seeing the doppelgänger of your best friend’s dead wife standing in the fire station, heart beating, lungs expanding, and so you think that maybe your best friend is still in shock too, and you don’t want to push too hard at his grief-wound. So you leave it for now, and you don’t come back to it until it blows up in your face, and your best friend’s face, and his son’s face too.

So yeah, I’d say that Buck probably has a lot of regrets too about the Kim situation. He’s a fixer, no matter how hard he tries, and they lost the kid both of them love more than anything over the situation. You can’t tell me that Buck hasn’t been screaming crying throwing up about it since May. Fuck that.

It doesn’t matter that we don’t get characters’ inner thoughts (usually) on this show. Buck met Kim, and he talked about it with Eddie twice. That’s crazy. That’s certifiably insane. It’s been six months. The midseason finale is tomorrow. There is no excuse for Eddie and Christopher still not speaking. This is no excuse for Buck and Eddie still never discussing Kim or at least Chris leaving. These characters are not meant to be this horrifically repressed. It is strange. It is out of character. Kim showed up for about four episodes and disappeared into the ether. I want to know what the hell is going on with this storyline.

okay this is on my mind in regards to the comic i just saw, but Zayne, Xavier, and Rafayel had to be CERTAIN that MC was gonna be safe, because what do you mean you let this girl go into the N109 zone, and even assisted her in getting in there?? like despite all the dark rumors we heard these men literally did not do much to persuade her or try to stop her otherwise. i know there was the whole “linkcon city won’t be safe for the next few days” that we all saw and discussed, but obviously with the story update we got absolutely nothing out of that. and despite how premature the romantic aspect of the relationships with each of them might be, I don’t think they’d willingly let her walk into somewhere too dangerous unless they had an absolute certainty that she was going to be safe and protected. and now that makes me wonder if they know about Sylus and his link to her. Because what other certainty do they have to go off of?

I do have to say I'm a touch disappointed with the killer/reveal in S4. Marshall was the most obvious suspect but him being the only killer (despite the fact that Sazz was snooping around a building conspiracy) feels so...dull? Marshall is easily the most pathetic killer in the entire series (and this is coming from someone who haaaated last season's killers) and I ended the finale going "that's it?".

Asuka is a tragic figure, a figure of mystery, a wild card, all because the only thing she wants in life is peace and quiet for herself and to feel in control- yet her secret heritage that may be hidden from her for her own protection and the reality that life is unpredictable and will go on with or without you keep ruining that delusion, that vision of how the world is meant to work to her, and she suffers regardless of what she wants, what she does, and how little she understands anything

She was born into a family preaching peace and balance and order while being a creature of violence, and puts a dozen mental locks and excuses over this truth to justify giving into her impulse for fighting by pretending she's justice when she does it

She keeps trying to build a place of safety but she's using sand and life is a wave that destroys, yet she stubbornly persists rather than give up, not drowned to the point of self centered suicidal loathing like Jin- there's contrast, where Jin is cloaked in death Asuka stubbornly clings to life and humanity as a normal person in a terrifying world

She's not a fucking narrative clone for Jun's own purpose, Asuka's purpose must be determined by Asuka herself

ok so i'll give the bare bones of it, but trust that there's more to say as we get there. the tags don't go up until the final chapters. i also don't know that i want ppl reading too much into it in the sense that tcba isn't abt romance, so much as it is abt relationships driving the character motivations. but i also don't want anyone to stress abt it? basically, i'll say this part and ask ppl to hold other questions til the end since the things i really want to say, i want to say with the context of the story behind me. we're not far off from the end either, guys.

We had a very exciting event today: a Space Battle! There were chunks of spaceship and steel slag falling down for the better half of a day. Not too much fire, which was good. The worst fire was down in the bottom-left corner of the map, where we never go anyway.

There were a few escape pods, too, with very interesting people inside. We did our best to rescue as many as we could- The Path of Animism believes in charity, after all.

Here are all the survivors we rescued! We only just had enough hospital beds for everyone. They're a fun bunch. I wonder if any of them will stick around when they've recovered? I hope so. That would be fun.

I love the nicknames "Hot Minute" and "Grump". Rimworld nicknames can be so intriguing sometimes. I mean, I can imagine why someone would be nicknamed "Grump", but how do you end up being named "Hot Minute"??

Oh, and of course, Gracie is a name I'm particularly attached to for no reason involving any personal biases.

I'm still so mad that August Kitko was such a mid book and like I would go do far as to say maybe it was bad but it's likely it just wasn't for me.

And then I read Hell Followed With Us and realize hey now... there's a lot of similarities between these two books and wow i am enjoying this other book way more. I almost want to dig into that and figure out why. Can you ever dislike something so much you want to take a scalpel to it and dissect it to find the bloody heart? Yeah that's what I'm feeling with August Kitko... it kinda sucks but I need to know why it makes me so mad.

one thing i really appreciate about lost is how characters become better people, like, noticeably with the desire to be a better person, and yet they're still so capable of making grievous mistakes and being incredibly wrong. see: richard's season 6 nihilism into believing in jacob again after hurley acts as a conduit for isabella to him and yet still thinking they need to blow up the plane. jack returning to the island because now he knows that the island has a purpose for him and thinking that purpose is to stop their plane from ever crashing. sawyer thinking that they had to diffuse the bomb in the sub to stop it from exploding when jack (correctly) understood that the mib was incapable of facilitating their deaths that he wanted sawyer to make that decision to cause them to kill each other. like. it goes to show that you can be a better person and still be capable of making mistakes you end up regretting later. you are still human and you are not perfect and no matter how much you search for the truth, you won't always have the right answers. but it's always worth trying anyway.

having watched the third episode of lockwood and co, i’m not quite as thrilled about it. i don’t really like how they fit the whole plot of the screaming staircase into just three episodes. Honestly, i don’t really like in general super long episodes. but here especially, they cut a lot of the more mundane things, of lucy, lockwood, & george building their friendship and showing more of their characters. They also cut a few of the less important cases, like lucy’s first with lockwood, with the motorcyclist. and while those kinds of moments weren’t super important to the plot, it helped to get a feel for both the world(not every case is dramatic and dangerous, this is a normal job) and the characters(lockwood’s growing respect for lucy, her Talent).

And i think this could come back to bite the writers when they introduce Holly, because lockwood being so casual with her so quickly was in contrast to him being formal with lucy for longer. if we don’t see those weeks with that awkwardness and formality, there won’t be that contrast.
