Kill it with fire
*How the characters respond to you seeing the biggest spider of your life and telling them to get rid of it. (I have some characters in multiple times because i could see them as either/or)*
Cw: Spiders in case u couldn't tell
He's got this. Outwardly, he looks confident, and your nerves are soothed as he tells you he'll deal with it. Goes in for the kill, but the sickening crunch has him feeling queasy for a while. Scrunched up nose if he looks too close while he's cleaning it up, but ultimately considers it a win when you kiss his cheek and call him your hero.
Hiragi, Suo, Tsugeura, Enomoto
Thinks he's got this, but once the bastard starts skittering towards him, he's running with you(or without you) in his arms into the other room.
Togame, Kaji, Sakura, Sugishita, Endo
Picks it up in a cup and just throws it outside. Maybe even picks it up bare handed. Not bothered in the slightest, which has you more concerned than the spider did. Please go wash your hands.
Chika, Choji(barehanded >_>), Umemiya
Screams with you. That's the spider's house now. Actually might call someone else to help with it because it's gotta be radioactive to be that size.
Nirei, Kanuma, Kusumi, Kiryu
It's a team effort between the two of you. You're both poised and ready to strike, one with a can of bug spray and one with a broom/shoe/heavy book as a weapon in case the spray doesn't slay the beast. If anything, it's a bonding experience, despite the panicked yelling during the attack and disposal.
Togame, Kiryu, Sakura, Kaji
It's a no mercy killing. There is no regret or upset; this monster simply ceases to exist in a matter of seconds. Kinda hot ngl.
Tsubaki, Kotoha, Sako, Suzuri, Chika, Suo

Was going to doodle a werewolf AU Miguel design because it would be stupid easy, but then I got blindsided by the 1610 boys. Peter-1610 was a real one.
I feel like werewolf stuff is kind of my brand (unintentionally) even though I never upload any of it here. Bonus: a kitty

think we should probably change the common names for "funnel web spiders" and "funnel weaver spiders" to more clearly reflect the fact that one is a scary guy full of deadly venom who lives in australia and the other one is a meek little guy with tiny ineffectual fangs and extremely mild venom who lives in my kitchen on my bottle brush right now

Something warm settled over my shoulders.  I looked at Bitch as she finished draping her jacket over me.  As she drew back, her eyebrows furrowed, glaring at me, I wrangled the bags and my bundle of costume so I could get my arms through the sleeves and do up the buttons.  It was a canvas down jacket with a fur-ruff collar, but it was the wrong size for me and it was heavy.  The pockets, I found, as I tried to jam my hands in there, were filled with stuff.  A mess of plastic bags, chocolate bars, protein bars, a juice box, pellets that ground together – what I guessed were dog treats or dog food.  Not exactly cape supplies.  All in all, it was almost uncomfortable. But it was warm. “Thank you,” I told her, floored by the gesture. “You needed something to cover your neck,” she looked bothered, “People would stare.” “Doesn’t matter.  Thank you.”  I offered a smile.
Nope. Nope. Nope. I refuse.
I refuse to start shipping wolfspider.
FUCK YOU

Okay so late night thoughts that will be incoherent but whatever
I remember from my Wisdon tutorial in Uni where we cover Judaism, Catholic and Christianity in the first class. Catholic and Christianity branching and originating from Judaism and such
But then the professor that Catholic being Greek(?) and Christianity being Roman(?)
OR the other way around I’m not entirely sure (this was now 20 ish weeks ago) so I was thinking when it came to fandom talk about Percy Jackson and the gods of different mythologies technically are related to The God, Jesus and Judas. (More God than Jesus and Judas as from my understanding those two are more like demigods and messengers for gods will)
I did ask the question on the belief of the Greek gods, the professors respond that the belief of The Creator is that their is one, that there is no continuous cycle of creation (example, our parents were born from their parents, their parents were born from their own parents and so up until Adam and Eve kind of thing) and that having the mulitple gods is personification of an idea. Which ok god point, but technically the gods came from one sole thing. Chaos which is from brief google search and quick reading I’m obviously not surprised where the Big Bang theory came from.
So far we have
Chaos, big bang theory, God from all three previously mentioned
How does this have to do with anything
WELL I was thinking on how Allah, the Buddha are intertwined.
After again VERY BREIF reading of Google. Islam is quite “there is no God but god.” As well with Muhammad being a messenger for him
DOES ANYONE SEE A PARTNER YET??
Obviously you’re currently going to “how the fuck does this correlate to anything Greek mythology related. Well (I have no idea) BUT Greek and Roman mythology are quite intertwined and have similarities that cross over in both (as I’ve seen Apollo is still named Apollo in both sides)
I was thinking, It’s got to be the same with the rest??
THERE IS NO WAY ALL RELIGIONS BELIEVE IN ONE SEPERATE GOD THERE IS NO WAY.
It’s got to be about the same god and same messenger. God and Allah, Jesus and Muhammad.
Further research has been done. Islam is recorded to be the oldest religion in the world but Judaism is the grandparent of Islam…
They have the same prophet Abraham mentioned.
YOU ALL ARE FIGHTING OVER THE SAME GOD THEY JUST HAVE RECORDED DIFFERENT NAMES BECAUSE THE MESSENGERS WERE GETTING ATTACKED
That also being said the messengers also spread different names, maybe Gods plan? Different aliases to have the world as it is because of His plan?
Anyway I’m going to bed my head can’t handle another thought

Jez hit me with a werewolf fact
They are Wolves. They are Alpha. They live alone in the dark and they persistr against all odds. They are above others. Humanoid men fear them. Their genes subconsciously tell them that they are no match.
Humanoid females avoid tjem. They are intimidated. But one day they will realize their mistake in not choosing the Wolf. They will realize that they could’ve created a pack with an Alpha, but all they did was play around with puppies instead. And then they will be old and it will be too late.
Society shuns the Wolves. They see them as a threat, because they are rebels. The Wolves only howl at society in response and laugh. They embrace the solitute. They don't need others, because all a man-beast needs is themself.
On a full moon, they will patrol around their lands. The river is philosophy, the mountain is Reddit, and the forests are anime.
Which is all they need to survive. Do not make a mistake and foolishly trespass on their territory. It might come back to bite you.
They are Wolves. They are Alpha.

Female wolf spider, I believe genus Pardosa (the “thin-legged wolf spiders”)
Wolf spiders have a reputation for being huge, so for context most of the Pardosa spp. I run into around here are NOT a very intimidating size (though I suppose opinions may vary re: what qualifies as a “big” spider lol). Here’s a non-macro reference:

Black Leopard, Red Wolf and Moon Witch, Spider King by Marlon James
After many, many months, I have finally managed to finish reading this series (well, the first two books, because the third one is not out yet). Mostly, I loved it.
I feel like I need to insist on the fact that these books are so long. They are so, so long. The Poppy War books are shorter. LotR books are shorter. ASoIaF books are shorter. The damned Wheel of Time books are shorter - as a matter of fact, I got through two thirds of Wheel of Time in the time it took me to read these two books.
I've seen a lot of reviews compare this series to LoTR, which I think is both an apt and completely inaccurate comparison. Like reading LotR, reading Black Leopard, Red Wolf and Moon Witch, Spider King is kind of a labour of love, because while the books are very good, they're also very long, slow paced, and honestly a little bit of a chore to read at times. They are not very bingeable books. They both have absolutely stellar worldbuilding. They have entirely different themes, moods, and general message.
I've also seen a lot of reviews comparing this series to ASoIaF, which is very easy to see where that's coming from but does this series a disservice. These books are dark. They're the grimdark ASoIaF wishes it was. They're also much, much better than ASoIaF, with much more consistent and consequent worldbuilding and darkness that feels a lot more in line with actual human behaviour as well as a lot less gratuitious. It has to be said however that Black Leopard, Red Wolf and Moon Witch, Spider Kind both come with essentially every imaginable trigger warning.
The worldbuilding in both books is stellar, and the stylistic writing choices (make the book harder to read) really support the worldbuilding. The story takes us to a fantasy Africa very inspired by western and central African mythology, and it manages to transport you to this setting in a very impressive way, which is what I love a book to do the most. The books are written in an African english dialect (wikipedia tells me Jamaican patois is used in dialogues, but I am unsure if there are other dialects used as the body of the text was not standard american english either), which made them - especially the first one - much more difficult to understand to me, but really grounded the worldbuilding. It felt like I was reading another language in english. It reminded me of feeling of reading quebecois books written in joual - joual is my own language, so where joual writing feels both strange and familiar and kind of wrong, english is my second language and African American dialects are less familiar to me, so Marlon Jame's writing felt doubly foreign. This made it a difficult, but absolutely fascinating and fascinating read - exactly the kind of "dépaysant" I love to experience.
It was also a nice change of pace to read a book with a queer protagonist whose queerness was actually informed and shaped by the setting.
