im feeling a bit better and here's some more chapter 2 for ya

one of the things im only now noticing about 2-3 is just how well it sets up for 2-4.

because. okay. 2-4 has a lot of big, dramatic moments. and these are powerful reveals, but they won't hit as hard if you're not invested: if you don't care about gregson and barok, then you're not going to care when bad things happen to them.

so 2-3 does its absolute best to make you care.

going into 2-4, the characters that are immediately going to have the biggest problems are, again, gregson and barok: you need to care that gregson dies, and you need to care that barok is arrested for it.

so, when you're investigating the exhibition stage, 2-3 reintroduces gina, and reintroduces her as gregson's apprentice. their relationship is antagonistic, but lighthearted: gregson clearly cares for her, at least enough to try and protect her, and to bring her to paris with him. and gina, for her part, looks markedly happier when you meet her again in 2-3- she has a dog and a brand new badge and she's having fun, because for once in her life, someone else is looking after her. gregson is looking after her.

and that way, when gregson dies, it matters- because even if you don't care, gina does.

gregson's death hurts, in part, because of gina's reaction. it's her grief that lets the player know what's been lost. and that grief gets its basis in 2-3, because 2-3 shows us that they care about each other- in establishing this relationship, 2-3 gives gina, and the player, something to lose when gregson dies.

and, speaking of giving people a relationship with another character to get you to care about them- then we have barok.

the first investigation phase of 2-3 begins by humanizing barok as hard as it possibly can. ryunosuke is allowed into his office for the first time, and- and least for me- whenever we examined something in there, the vibe of the subsequent interaction felt like nothing so much as "grumpy man dragged unwillingly into friendship." we're touching everything in his office, and he's clearly exasperated with us, but not enough to stop us from touching everything in his office. this is also, i think, the first example of ryunosuke and barok having any kind of relationship outside of the courtroom. we see ryunosuke's concern when he first finds out barok's been attacked, and if you examine the chessboard in his office, you can get a line about ryunosuke wanting to challenge him to a contest of shogi problems. so 2-3 starts by introducing us to a barok that is somebody outside of the prosecutor across the courtroom, that is something more than the terror of the reaper, and that'll matter later.

but most importantly, 2-3 gives barok a friend.

specifically, a friend that is silly. ridiculous, even. his character design and personality contrast starkly with barok's, and yet he's the one who tells us repeatedly that barok's really nice, actually- that barok was kind when albert knew him, and he doesn't know what happened to change him ten years ago but he still considers barok a friend.

and what's more, albert believes in him. when he's speaking to barok in the prison, you get this exchange:

Harebrayne: ......... Since I returned to England, I've heard lots of stories. Barok, are you really...? Van Zieks: What? Harebrayne: ......... Never mind. I know that you have my best interests at heart.

he's well aware that barok is known for essentially killing the people who prosecutes. and he almost asks about it! but he doesn't- he chooses to trust barok, instead.

ryunosuke is not even there for this interaction in the prison. the game makes a point of showing it to the player anyway. and i think it's because we need to know that at least one person is capable of trusting barok, that at least one person thinks barok is someone worth believing in.

because one case later, we're going to see barok in a prison cell, and he's going to tell us, "i'm not the reaper and i didn't do it." and we're going to have to believe him.

2-3 does a number of other things to lay the groundwork for 2-4: establishing the professor case, bringing kazuma back, all of that. but i highlight gregson and barok as examples because i think they focus on setting up emotional investment, as opposed to setting up plot elements. and maybe because of that, they stand on their own. gregson's relationship with gina and barok's relationship with albert have emotional weight, even without the context of anything that happens after. but those relationships also make what happens after matter more, because they give us a reason to care.

2-3 is not really a self-contained story, by any means, but it manages to be its own thing, with its own satisfying conclusion, while also serving the overarching plot. it's not perfect- by the end of the case, the professor mystery had so wholly overtaken the actual crime that i almost forgot harebrayne was the defendant. but i think 2-3 does a pretty good job, and i think that might be part of the reason why i like it.

(or it might just be the goths. this case has some really good witnesses, and i freely admit i may be biased.)

In other words, you know what isn’t in their show? Poc playing human non-servant characters. But you know what IS in their show? ✨Incest✨

Yup. With nothing more than an offhand comment this show is gonna have two literal cousins play love interests. Idc if they change the cast later on like how was hinted at in an interview the normalization and nonchalance attitude about COUSINS playing those roles was already established as just something u can brush off with a “not thinking about it”.

And there’s a lot of servant object roles and also a lot of poc/minority roles so obviously it was bound to happen for a myriad of reasons that some of the white characters get leads and some of the poc get the objects. That’s normal. What ISNT normal is how they could bend over backwards to justify why the plus size white girl getting belle is revolutionary and inclusive but not even attempt to 1. Not have incest and 2. Cast even one poc character as a lead.

They tried to make us out as crazy when people got mad Kourtney wasn’t Belle by trying to be like “oh we were throwing you off” but the reason that excuse fell short was because they didn’t throw us off at all. The case scenario was NOT that one week they dropped something that had us thinking it was one girl and the next week had us thinking it was another. It was that they always had us thinking it was going to be Kourtney. They weren’t throwing us off they were leading us on. In the end it comes off as we rather have a weird incest vibe going on than have the black girl we baited you with be an actual lead.

And Tim would probably see this and say something like “That’s not what I meant. I didn’t think of it that way when I cast this person as this and that person as that.” and it’s like of COURSE you didn’t. Of course you didn’t think of what the black people, and the latino people, or the asian people might think of how you’re portraying the characters that look like them on screen. You’ve never had to. Tim may be gay but he is also white and a man and that awards him privileges even within his own minority group. So of course it’s not even slightly surprising to me that all these things slipped by him without any notice. It’s cuz he can afford not to notice. But it being unsurprising doesn’t make it any less upsetting. It’s still bullsh** that they would literally rather contradict their own plot points than have the minority characters be anything other than harmful stereotypes just because THEY don’t see why it’s so bad.

P.S. this is not for any hate directed towards the actors. All of them are just workers locked under contract trying to do their jobs and get payed. They have no control over the stories that Tim and his writing team decide to write. If you take anything other than that the writers are responsible and try to go after the actors for just doing their jobs then you’ve completely missed the point of ALL of this.

Meg Donnelly talked about HSMTMTS in a recent interview and she revealed that she had filmed a lot of scenes with Matt Cornett which means EJ and Val will have a friendship. "When we filmed High School Musical, most of our scenes were together so that was really cool. It was so easy and so comfortable and we actually got so much closer on the High School Musical set. It was really weird not seeing him in a blue wig, but nonetheless, it was great." (This part is from an anon but still addresses what you're asking about so I'm putting it t/g.)

Here's the article everyone's freaking out about LOL. I have quite a few asks in my inbox about this part Meg talks about, so I will try to answer them all today (some t/g to save time). First thing first, let's all take a nice, deep breath. Okay? Breathe in. Breathe out. Now, I don't think we need to worry all that much just yet. Didn't we all predict months ago there was a strong possibility EJ and Val could be childhood friends from camp? Maybe they’ve been attending Camp Shallow Lake since they were junior campers and have always been close friends. Does Meg’s quote here really surprise anyone? To me, it just (partly) confirms Val and EJ may share history/a friendship and they’ll use it as an opportunity to show EJ’s growth as a character from the last time he attended camp (when he food poisoned Emily so Nini would be the lead). Val was presumably there at camp when it happened. But EJ doesn’t operate the way he used to (during his selfish 1.0 days) and Val may very well call attention to that. If they are good friends, maybe Val will let the audience know that she sees a real change in him from last year. He’s not who he used to be. The EJ now is “a really good guy” (2.08) who tries to do the right thing (in the right ways this time!) Just b/c “most” of Meg’s and Matt’s scenes were t/g doesn’t inherently mean that’s the end of Portwell lmaooo. Meg also said a few weeks ago that she feels like ppl will “really like” her character, even tho Val will contribute to some drama this season. I don’t think she would make that claim if most of the audience was supposed to hate/dislike her. I’m not getting antagonistic vibes from Val given her character description, which implies she won’t be just another Lily. Tim also said the Wildcats would “come head-to-head and heart-to-heart with Shallow Lake campers Jet, Maddox, and Val," which very well could mean Gina misinterpreting EJ and Val’s relationship at first before she has an eventual heart-to-heart with her by season’s end. Please keep in mind this show spent 2 whole seasons building Gina and EJ up as individual characters first, then progressed their story t/g. It took them 2 seasons to even agree to go out on a date together. With S3′s timeline being only 2 weeks, I doubt Val will cause any lasting damage to Portwell. This is the first season that they’re dating and we, the audience, get to see EJ and Gina as boyfriend and girlfriend for the first time. It’s more likely Val will force EJ and Gina to confront any insecurities in their relationship during these 2 weeks than Val causing them to permanently break up. Plus, as far as we know, Meg will be guest starring only in S3. I don’t think we’ll see her character again for any future season(s) considering Val may be based in California, not Utah. I get the feeling once the trailer is released, Val’s part in the trailer may be deceptive in that it’ll look like she’ll cause bad drama for Portwell, but it could actually be the good kind of drama that will help strengthen them in the long run. TLDR: don’t stress over Meg and Matt sharing “most” scenes together in S3. I know Portwell have a tough season ahead of them, but who says they won’t continue on this journey together? Val might just help EJ realize just how much he cares about Gina and how different his relationship with her is from his previous relationships. We just won’t know until S3 starts airing.

Alright, so. I ship Ricky with Therapy (Rickerapy) and Gina with Happiness (Hapina). That’s my final stance for a while. I’m very curious on where they take Portwell. If Rina’s gonna happen then...I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it? Like I still enjoy the idea of Rina, and it’ll be a lot better than Rini (I think) but...no guy is worth that much pain and heartache Gina’s dealing with. 

I guess if Ricky ends up working through his fear of change, learns better communication skills, and accepts/confronts his own feelings a lot better and treats Gina like the amazing person she is and makes it up to her then maaaaaaaaaaybe I’ll be on board with Rina in the end.

But yea, I’m definitely vibing more with Portwell rn.

Also, Nini deciding to live for herself. It’s such a good peak for her arc this semester I’m pretty happy.

Finally, while I’m giving Ricky a lot of shit, as I said in my previous live!blog--I still like his character and everything is very consistent with what we’ve seen from season 1. If anything, I’m really excited to see his arc come to a head and what comes after!

Skate Park

a/n: hello everyone !! it’s currently 3:04 a.m. but i had this idea for a while and i just had to write it out. tbh this was planned to be a one shot but i think maybe it could be a 2-3 part kind of thing??? but if this flops, im going to pretend i never posted it

“He’s not going to come.”

Gina just finished putting her beanie onto her curly hair as she looked over at EJ in the driver’s seat. “What are you talking about?” She knew exactly what he was talking about but chose to play dumb instead. EJ rolled his eyes.

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the guy who you’ve been not so secretly crushing on for the past couple of months. You know, the one who plays guitar and only wears Vans. Ringing any bells?”

Of course EJ knew about Gina’s love for Ricky, even if she didn’t quite realize it herself. After she moved in with his cousin Ashlyn, the two have become very close friends, which was a surprise to everyone. Ever since he’s learned from his past self that the world doesn’t revolve around him, EJ has become much more observant.

For instance, Seb and Carlos finally met each other’s families and are doing better than ever, Kourtney’s joined choir and preparing to take on Stephanie for class president and lastly, Ricky and Nini’s relationship which seems to be falling apart by the seams.

“I am not here for Ricky, EJ. We rarely ever talk to each other.” Gina’s heart ached knowing that her and Ricky went from talking everyday to a simple head nod while passing each other in the hallways. She knows he’s with Nini now, but did that mean they had to cut each other off entirely? She missed the way he used to sing to her, the inside jokes, the way they just got each other. The teenage girl assumed that whatever they had was completely over, she sometimes worried if they ever had anything to begin with.

“Oh, so you’re not making me take you to the skate park almost every Saturday night to rekindle your friendship with Ricky?” Unfortunately, EJ knew Gina more than she could handle. So naturally, she avoided his question.

“You don’t have to drive me here, I can literally walk from Ashlyn’s.”

“I don’t want you walking alone at night, it’s not safe.”

“EJ, we live in Salt Lake City. The only thing unsafe around here is your singing.” The two started to laugh as EJ gently pushed her.

“Besides, I’m a big girl. I’m pretty sure I can handle myself.”

“Yeah, make sure to remember that the next time you ask me to kill a spider for you.”

“Whatever asshole, I’ll see you in a few hours.” Gina hopped out of the car with her black and purple skateboard, ignoring whatever EJ called out to her as she walked away. Their conversation lingered in her mind as she pulled her helmet out of her bag. She may be better than your average skateboarder but she wasn’t quite fond of cracking her skull open anytime soon.

“Not so secretly crushing on” ... was she that obvious? She’d been putting an immense amount of effort in trying to suppress her feelings for Ricky as soon as she found out he got back together with Nini. Whether that meant skipping out on group hangouts in Big Red’s basement knowing the curly haired boy would be there or sitting with EJ and his senior friends at lunch because she couldn’t stand the sight of Ricky’s arm around Nini at their table. 

Gina shook her head. No wonder he started distancing himself from her, she’s been doing the exact same thing to him.

Luckily, she still has the rest of her friends to lean on. She lives with Ashlyn and EJ is pretty much always at the house, so one thing led to another and an automatic power trio they were. After learning Big Red beautifully tap dances, she convinced him to take classes with her at her dance studio. Carlos and her share a passion for theater so it was only inevitable for them to reach BFF status. She even visits Seb’s farm from time to time and if that doesn’t show how much she’s grown then ask the multiple pairs of shoes she’s voluntarily ruined by stepping in mud and dirt.

“Gina?” A familiar voice interrupted her train of thought. She looked up and locked eyes with the boy whose name stayed on her mind day and night.

“H-Hey Ricky. What are you doing here?” He chuckled, making Gina’s heart skip a beat.

“I should be asking you the same thing. I thought I was the skateboarder in this friendship.” Although surprised, Ricky couldn’t be more glad to see the girl in front of him. He can’t even recall the last time they spoke more than two sentences to each other so he hoped that this was the chance for them to catch up.

“Well you were, but then you stopped showing up. So now, l’m king of the skate park.” Gina grinned from ear to ear feeling proud of herself. Her bright smile made the butterflies erupt in his stomach, a feeling he had long forgotten. Him and Nini have been arguing for weeks now and everything between them has changed.

The daily phone calls stopped, every time they do talk it somehow ends up in a disagreement , and even when they kiss or hold hands, it doesn’t compare to the feeling he just experienced. It’s like they don’t fit anymore, the passion has disappeared. Was it his fault? Should he just give up? The whole childhood best friends to lovers fantasy felt like a huge joke to him now. Nonetheless, he knew having these thoughts were wrong considering he was still in fact, dating the girl he’s known since kindergarten.

“Um, yeah. I’ve been busy with school and all the musicals and stuff. I actually only came here tonight because Nini and I just got into a big fight.” He nervously said while rubbing the back of his neck, one of his many habits.

“Oh my gosh, Ricky. I’m so sorry, do you want to talk about it?” Gina took a step towards him, allowing Ricky to catch a whiff of her jasmine-scented perfume. Some things never change, Ricky thought as he reminisced of one particular weekend where Gina dragged him to their local mall to shop for clothes and stock up on any and everything that Bath & Body Works sold that was jasmine-scented. The only downside was that she thought it would be funny to spray perfume on his sweatshirt multiple times. Ricky didn’t mind but he ended up giving her his hoodie since the fragrance was a little bit too strong for his liking. He wondered if she still had it...

“Don’t be, its not your fault. But actually I’d rather not think about it. Kinda need a distraction.”

Gina nodded in understanding and an awkward silence fell among them. The urge to reach out and wrap her arms around him was so intense she had to clasp her hands together for restraint. She knew it wasn’t her place to comfort him, especially after weeks of no communication whatsoever. But that doesn’t make it any less harder for her to ignore the absolute pain in his eyes. If it was a distraction he wanted, then it’s a distraction he’ll get. She picked up her skateboard.

“Then you came to the right place my friend. Come on, let’s go see if you still live up to your reputation. Unless, of course, you’re scared of being shown up the one and only Gina Porter.” 

Ricky’s mood began to change, feeling lighter than he did moments before. That’s what Gina did best, she always managed to make him feel better no matter the circumstances.

“Nah, you’re not that scary.”

hey my dudes, so as always i do have plans for a breakdown of the most recent episode coming but it’ll probably be a in couple days — i’m planning on rewatching the entire series because a lot of my feelings about this episode relate to tone and flow and wrapping up story threads so i want to make sure i don’t forget about anything and make real inaccurate statements...

in the mean time though: i’ve got some preliminary thoughts and ideas that i figures i’d word vomit out there.

so a) i actually didn’t hate the episode. there was one scene with what felt to me like a major tonal shift that felt a bit out of place (you know the scene i’m talking about) but i for the most part thought there was a lot of potential and nothing that they can’t fix/adjust coming into another season.

b) carlos and seb are beautiful and pure and i love them so so so so much and seb kills as sharpay and carlos as chad had my dying of laughter and man they were lovely and i’m so excited for seb to be a main role in season two and can’t wait for more content.

c) big red. big red. big red the third? i died. this guy honestly. so sweet. just out here impressing everyone with his talent. and him and ashlyn! and he sent the flowers! and all of it was amazing a real highlight — and when his parents were like “he’s never really done anything before so we’re happy he’s out here doing something” and supporting him. and like man big red and his family and big red and ashlyn, i want more, i hope they keep it at zero angst all wholesome adorable sweet love.

d) ej. so like i know ej has been a love him or hate him character with most people leaning hate. i’ve actually really enjoyed ej’s character and i think in another post i’m probably going to do a breakdown/analysis of all the characters: but man ej was a lot of comic relief to me and he’s mistakes always read more just oblivious/idiotic than with any sort of ill intention. and this ep when he said “i’m playing to lose”: that was actually such a great moment that i felt and i mean it shows that he actually does care about nini...i mean in a way he kinda did what ricky did too? stepping away to give nini the best chance/what she wants/deserves. so i thought that was really well done and him buying the ticket for gina and honestly, there’s no ej hate here.

e) a piece of nitpicky criticism: there should have been a nini/kourtney scene after the show about the school? like should have at least been kourtney comforting nini/nini saying she wants to be alone/something because like the two of them are close and besties and i know that realistically kourtney would be the first there to comfort her and if nini felt how she told ricky she did she wouldn’t have let kourtney worry so like ?? as i said nitpicky but like i just know if that happened to my best friend she’d have a hard time getting rid of me until she 100% reassured me she was alright.

f) let’s talk ricky’s mom because why not? “i didn’t want to throw you off”? there’s so much about that line: there’s the fact that to some extent she obviously knew having todd there would throw ricky off, the fact that somehow she assumed it would be better to have him just show up mid show and give ricky NO time to consider it — as ricky pointed out. it’s that she just obviously so out of tune with her son that she doesn’t know him, and doesn’t seem to get that everything she thought was wrong and was a bad idea. and that she was like where were you and ricky was like “check your messages” and man i felt that because i’ve done that when i don’t want to talk to people and if they don’t get the message man honestly it just makes the situation worse so get out of here lynne until your like actually going to make an effort to like know/listen to your son.

g) on the other hand, ricky’s dad!!! he barely even did anything but you can just feel his support of ricky. like he tries, and he’s there and don’t get me wrong i LOVED the ricky/gina scene but i kinda wished his dad had come out and spoken to him — id love to see a heart to heart between the two of them and i think 100% they should talk because ricky is way more likely to listen to his dad than his mom.

h) alright i’ll stop delaying the inevitable: ricky and nini. personally i wasn’t feeling it. i thought the individual pieces were there as a climax of their relationship — i thought it was written fine and executed fine in the context of THIS EPISODE. but it felt almost out of place to me. a lot of this has to do with the fact that i hadn’t been sold on the relationship, i personally don’t feel like they are a good fit and idk i feel like the show’s main lacking point was that they didn’t really push them as positive? and even leading up to the ricky/nini moments the tone still felt off? like ricky’s mom said the thing about relationships sometimes not working? for me: it just didn’t fit. it didn’t have the right build up to sell me which overall affected how i felt about the scenes, no matter how well performed they were? that being said, i do have hope leading into season two...i think they have a couple things they need to come to terms with still, i think white i ship ricky/gina depending on how they handle season two maybe they work? but maybe they don’t? they didn’t dismiss the ricky/gina connection, and ej redeemed himself a bit/showed he obviously still cares for nini, plus nini got the offer to the school so who knows honestly... i’ll talk about it more in another post though — point is it just felt off for me.

i) gina moving in with ashlyn!!! i’m happy gina’s probably coming back, and am excited to see how they work it out.

and my final two thoughts:

j) nini getting the offer. i’m happy she got the offer and i’m interested to see how it plays into the next season. i just really hope they don’t go for: im staying here for the boy — that’s like an awful message, and in a world where schools and jobs are so competitive, like take your chances if it’s what you want — so if she doesn’t go, i’m just praying that it’s for a better reason then :( i just got back with this guy.

and last but definitely not least k) ricky’s story. okay so i have semi conflicted feelings about how ricky’s season one story wrapped because i really felt it didn’t. he got to say “i love you” which is great and all, but there’s so much else going on with him...obviously it means there’s a lot more to talk about in season two but my biggest thing is that none of his BIG problems got resolved and while yes he said “i love you” to nini, i felt like he didn’t really come out of the season learning anything? and this is just in regards to my own personal feelings about his character: having him fulfill the “winning back the girl” arc just feels like it takes away from all the dealing with change, finding his support and all his character development. like i love ricky so much and i’m happy he was able to say i love you cause that’s huge, but i felt like he didn’t come away from the season as strongly as some of the others character did in the finale.

but as i said, these are mainly just initial thoughts. i’m going to rewatch everything and will probably have a couple posts coming out about the individual characters/more cohesive thoughts on the season finale.

but nonetheless, the agonizing wait for season two begins, i wish everyone the best of luck.

The MONSTA X Universe Theory

Hello everyone, and welcome, to my most ambitious theory to this date, in which I attempt to convince you all that I am, in fact, not crazy and that all of MONSTA X’s comebacks can be put into one timeline whole universe. I’ve been working on this for months now, and to be honest I am exhausted, however I decided I needed to put this out before their comeback this next February 18. It’s going to be long, so tighten your seatbelts and pay attention, because we’re going to go deep with this one.

Let’s dive into the theory.

Basic Concepts

Like most companies and k-pop groups, Starship and MONSTA X didn’t to easy on us and introduced us to several interesting concepts like time and space travel and resurrection. You’ll need a basic understanding on how dimensions work for this theory to make sense, so I recommend you to watch this somewhat simple video about it because you’re probably going to need it.

They also make use of a lot of different symbolism, but I’ll explain those along the way because it’ll be easier to fit them with the rest of the theory like that. You might want to know a little about virtues and sins however since those will be mentioned!

The Setting

Before I go on explaining each of the phases of the MONSTA X Universe, I need to give you a bit of setting on how they are connected and why. There’s a vast quantity of in-verse connections but a lot of out-verse ones as well, so in each phase of the theory I’m going to explain each of the clues of both types and how everything ties together.

Almost all MONSTA X videos form part of a same universe that has been divided into several timelines, which can be distinguished by major events that happen inside the story. Not all videos are part of the plot, some of them are merely symbolic, and not all connections will seem obvious at first either, which is why out-verse clues are necessary to this theory as well, and let me tell you that “out-verse clues” is a very wide category.

In any case, now that I have cleared this up, it is time I start explaining the phases of the MONSTA X Universe and how everything ties up together, let’s go.

In-verse

Phase 1: The First Timeline - Origins (Tresspass & Rush)

Trespass and Rush might not seem tied to the theory at first, however, they are; even if they are not majorly relevant to the main events of the story. Both of these releases provide a background to what happens in The Clan, giving the boys’ friendship and origin and a point of comparison to when things start getting so bad they feel the need to go into war. They also show us they’ve been “problem” children from the start.

Phase 2: The First Timeline - The War (The Clan Part 1: Lost & The Clan Part 2: Guilty)

In my The Clan theory (which you can read here and here, and you’ll need to read it ‘cause I won’t go into much detail this time since it’s already there) I established that the boys were very close friends, even before Jooheon decided they needed to start a revolution and formed the X Clan. I believe that Trespass and Rush both happen before the events in All In, again, they’re not very relevant to the theory, but they provide a nice background to how things were before the war broke out.

Given the way they dared military officials and were clearly against the leadership of Hyungwon’s father, it wouldn’t be surprising that they went to jail a couple of times, hence Trespass. Rush is just them being dumb kids, like things should’ve always been. In any case, things start becoming worse and more difficult and Jooheon decides it’s time to start a war, so he forms the X Clan, discovers the magical flower (or the other way around), they make a pact and start the war.

During this war Hyungwon, Minhyuk and Shownu are all captured and rescued. Also, and a very important point, Hyungwon dies. I know in The Clan theory Gina and I said we weren’t sure, but I am completely certain he did die because it’s the only thing that makes him different from the others. Why? Because he’s the only one to be revived by the flower, he’s the only one that dies and comes back to life and frantically that defies the laws of nature. And that is what condemns them all.

We know the plant is magical because it heals their wounds and apparently is capable of reviving them and also of pulling them out of whatever spell Hyungwon and Minhyuk were in during their stay in the hospital. What if the flower can do other things as well? Yes, I am proposing that the flower was what gave Hyungwon his time-traveling abilities. Because the elixir made of the flower is literally what keeps his heart beating now.

Not only that, but the giant heart we see at the end of All In and of Fighter? I mentioned it was a symbol for their new beginning out of the war, but it might be more than just a new beginning. It’s a rift in time-space, the first one actually, and I’m willing to bet Hyungwon was the only one able to cross that door. That moment is the exact ending of our first timeline.

Phase 3: The First Timeline - Interlude (The Clan Part 2.5: Beautiful & Beautiful World Tour VCR)

I discovered the VCRs were important when I went to The Connect World Tour in Mexico and realized a bunch of things, which is what made me look for the VCR of the Beautiful World Tour (BWT from now on) and I was not disappointed. This VCR perfectly connects Trespass (Rush really isn’t that important I promise) and The Clan. You can watch it here.

In the VCR we can appreciate their lives before the war and before the government became rougher. We can also appreciate how they grew to be troublesome kids and even see a glimpse of Hyungwon’s family situation.

Beautiful is a bridge that ties in the symbolism and the stories of the boys in All In and Fighter. But it’s also a video that explains their past and personal fights, everything that made them join the X Clan in the first place (this is explained in more detail in the part 2 of my The Clan theory). Hence why in the BWT VCR the chapter order is Beautiful, Trespass and Lost. Beautiful explains their past, their personal lives; Trespass explains how they came together and became friends, their invasion into a new world; and Lost explains how they lost it all and decided to take action into their own hands. Lost is also the first part of The Clan trilogy, which would then lead to Guilty.

Phase 4: The Second Timeline (The Code)

Our first timeline ends the moment they reach the beating heart. Whether they all go in together or just Hyungwon goes, I don’t really know, but I have a strong reason to believe it was only Hyungwon the one who made it. Regardless, this is what clearly marks the end of our first timeline, because next time we get to see them, they’re leading completely different lives.

While Trespass and Rush hold no contradiction with The Clan, in Dramarama they don’t even know each other, and some of them do not even exist in the same time and space. Jooheon is dead in this timeline as well. Although this could heavily imply they have changed concepts and story, I believe the only way this can make sense is if this is a timeline that occurs after The Clan.

Hyungwon already has his strange time-space travel abilities, yet there’s no sign as to how he obtained them. And even more than that, if it’s clear they don’t remember each other, then why is Hyungwon trying to help them and giving them tools to meet each other (even if it doesn’t work in the end)? If he were just playing the Good Samaritan then surely he would at least give watches to other people right? Yet he doesn’t, we never see him doing it.

Our time-traveling hero has a clear mission here: getting them back together. He’s obviously struggling with this, as there seems to be some sort of agency that catches his activities and stops the people he’s helping? I don’t really think this agency is important to the story itself. It’s just another obstacle to their coming back together. In any case, this timeline is doomed.

Phase 5: The Third Timeline (The Connect: Music Film D)

Destroyer is yet another timeline distinct to Dramarama. We know this because we see different pairings, completely different settings and completely different timelines. Much like the BWT VCR, the Music Film D is divided in three stages: Part 1 The Code (a very obvious reference, this is already letting us know they’re connected), Part 2 Finding the road (if this doesn’t sound like Lost then I don’t know what does), and Part 3 Connected (clear reference to the current album.

D shows us the boys as geniuses, Minhyuk and Shownu are artists, Kihyun and Wonho are science (physics?) prodigies, and Jooheon and IM dominate technology. Through their own methods they all come to the revelation on how to find Hyungwon. Here’s the thing, why would they be looking for Hyungwon in the first place if they don’t know him? This is an entirely different timeline after all and it’s clear Hyungwon is too tired to keep making watches and keep trying to put them back together. He has already worn himself out.

The guys manage to figure it out and find the train station, which could either be a real place in which every timeline and universe converge or just a metaphor for them figuring out how to do the same thing Hyungwon does, either explanation works. They meet each other, they remember, and they go into the train, which marks our second main event in the theory.

Phase 6: Interlude (The Connect: Jealousy & The Connect World Tour VCR)

Jealousy is like Beautiful in the sense that it doesn’t feed the plot itself but helps connect (pun not intended)  and put everything else into place. Through different imagery, Jealousy illustrates how the different timelines push them together and then pull them apart, creating different pairings, but that despite this they still share things in common (the paper with numbers, the recorder, the glass of water).

Another thing this video does is allude to Jooheon’s death in Dramarama through the use of os symbolism. In one scene, a paper with his symbol is being burn, while in yet another, the chair he’s seen sitting on throughout the video is being burned as well and then falls down to the abyss.

On the other hand, The Connect World Tour VCR (CWT from now on, watch it here) functions like BWT’s, it creates a clear and obvious connection between Dramarama and D, revealing to us that they do have memories from other timelines. One thing worth pointing out about this is that they do not share memories of Hyungwon from the timelines shown in Dramarama and D, which means they can only have memories from him from The Clan, there’s literally no other way.

It also provides a clearer scene of Hyungwon crafting the watches himself and of him at the top of the Hero building (something I’ll address in more detail later). We can also see the last scene from Jealousy mirrored in the last few seconds of the VCR, which is something worth pointing out.

Phase 7: The Fourth Timeline? (Take 1 and Take 2)

The real question comes now, are Take 1 and Take 2 part of the MONSTA X universe? Despite the obvious change in theme, I have a lot of reasons to believe they do, part of them are in the Out-verse section that follows, so you should pay attention to that.

The most obvious reference I can think of that doesn’t leave room for question is Hyungwon in the Hero building and falling into the water. We saw this scene previously and we see it once again in the “Previous Film” that recently came out for We Are Here. This makes it clear that Take 1 and 2 are indeed connected to The Code - The Connect in a sense.

Plus, the use of symbolism to represent the sins and the characters is a very interesting reminder of other symbols that have been used since way back in The Clan. Finally, there’s also the narrations, which I will discuss soon in the out-verse. The only thing I am not sure of is if Take 1 and 2 form part of the universe from a plot point of view or only as interludes like Jealousy and Beautiful, we’ll probably have to pay a lot of attention to answer that question.

Out-verse

MONSTA X and May 14, 2015

The group’s name and their debut date are actually quite important in order to explain some of the symbolism used throughout their discography. As you might know, MONSTA means my star, and the ‘X’ represents the variable of a mysterious existence.

Back in Trespass, a number appears: M150514X. Any fan that knows remotely anything about MONSTA X knows this is their debut date, and it makes sense that it is in the video because it is, after all their debut video. However, we see something very similar after a while in D, when Kihyun solves the formula for time travel as X=4155102M which is basically the same number we see in Trespass, just backwards and with the numbers shifted slightly (full year still of only the last two numbers, and one number for the month).

This makes sense, because if X is the variable for a mysterious existence, then May 14, 2015 is the day that existence came to be, and I think it’s an amazing reference to make. Even in Dramarama we see Kihyun traveling back to 2015, the year everything began, even the story they are telling through these MVs, in and out of the plot.

References to Real Life

In Jealousy we see a very important reference that took me a long time to figure out. We see them sharing a paper that has a bunch of numbers in it, these numbers prove to be the members birthdays, which again ties up with the concept of existence, because those are the days they started existing.

Another very important thing about these numbers is that, ever since Jealousy, the comeback dates have been matching perfectly with this numbers. The Connect came out on March 26 and I.M was born on January 26, Take 1 came out on October 22 and Kihyun was born on November 22, and finally Take 2 is coming out on February 18 and Shownu was born on June 18. This is just further proof that Take 1 and 2 form part of the Universe.

The Logos and Individual Marks

MONSTA X have an easily recognizable logo that we’ve all seen at least once: a detailed and complex M and X combined on each other so that the inner lines come out longer on the bottom. This is their official logo and as such is present in all of their albums in some way or another (in the back of the photo cards, in the credits, somewhere), however it is not always the most visible.

As you might have noticed, for The Code and The Connect they had a ‘change’ of logo, which happened again with Take 1 and Take 2. Yes, their original logo is still present somewhere in the album (you can see that in unboxings) however it is not the main logo that takes the covers as it did with their previous releases.

I think the logos, in a sense, mark the belonging of one release into the series, as well as mark the important events in the story that change its course. First, we have the original logo that goes from Trespass all the way to The Clan Part 2.5: Beautiful, then it changes for The Code and The Connect, and then it once again morphs for Take 1 Are You There and Take 2 We Are Here.

These changes match with the two main events I have described so far. After they meet the heart in All In and Fighter the logo changes (let’s remember Beautiful works as a way of explaining their past and characters, so technically the story is contained within All In and Fighter only). And then, after they go through the train’s doors in D (same thing with Jealousy) it changes again. Yes, the logos for Take 1 and Take 2 are slightly different because the colors are inverted, it could be ‘cause of the choice of colors or maybe because they’re “two sides of the same coin”, either way the logo is pretty much the same.

Aside from marking the important changes in the Universe, I also think their logos are a symbols of their own. The first one is the original, it’s their identity and matches well with The Clan, it represents them and their union. The second is the loops they’re trapped in, the infinite repetition of timeline after timeline until they’re able to get back together. The third one is what we know as an impossible figure, it’s a shape that can’t exist in a tridimensional plane because it doesn’t make sense, just like how they’re are trapped and followed by their past mistakes and the sins they carry within them.

As for their individual marks. During The Clan they all have an X tattoo that looks just a bit different for each of them, this symbolizes their union as one team. However, after they break apart because of what happened, they start having individual symbols that are sometimes fused to each other. This is the case for The Code’s stylized initial and The Connect’s initials that were put as clocks. For Take 1 and 2, I think their symbols will be the deadly sin that identifies each of them, but we’ll see.

Album Titles

Although I don’t think the album titles are such an important element, I think it’s worth mentioning the structure they follow. For The Clan, The Code and The Connect they all have a repeating structure of ‘The’ and a word that starts with the letter C. Even inside The Clan we had 3 parts, and for the last two albums we’ve had Take 1 and Take 2, which makes me think there might be a Take 3, but do remember what I said earlier. (I remember reading something about a Take 4 because there’s four versions to each album).

Narration Elements

A lot of the MONSTA X videos that aren’t Music Videos contain in the a lot of narration, Take the VCRs and The Oaths for example. The way these narrations are structured mirror each other a lot, and we can even find some recurring elements between them.

Check these comparisons. The phrases under the same colors are related.

Shine Forever, Newton and Hero

Lastly, I feel the need to explain why I didn’t mention these three much. Newton is the easier one to explain: it is a commercial MV. That’s it, it’s obviously not part of anything because it was a commercial, and even if it were part of the universe I think it would lack relevance to it.

As for Hero, it is mostly just a dance video, but the place is clearly representative of something important since it has been using repeatedly in different eras, so I think it’s mostly just the location rather than anything else.

And finally, when it comes to Shine Forever, it just doesn’t fit anywhere. I desperately tried to tie it with everything else, especially after I saw the lights they used in Music Film D and the car crash in Dramarama, but it just doesn’t fit. Plus, it doesn’t fit within the logo theory, it doesn’t have the first logo anywhere visible and it doesn’t have any variation of the logos either that could explain it as a different timeline or setting, which is why I discarded it, which is a shame cause I love the song and MV.

Conclusions

Ever since the beginning, MONSTA X’s albums have been part of one sole universe that poses the journey of a group of seven boys trying to get back together after they get split apart, probably because of what Hyungwon did in All In. But not only that, this is also a story about them, about their struggles and how they’ve grown up. They’re each other’s friends and family, the value of X is their debut date because that is when they came into existence, they are each other’s dreams because they wanted to become artists and they did so by coming together into one group.

So far, we’ve seen the growth of their strong bond, the separation, the reencounter. But just like the narrations says, it is just not enough. D showed them reunited at last, but their sins follow them even beyond that, and their journey is not quite over. They could be the salvation of each other, or their doom.

What would your OC’s last words be/what are they?

Adora: I don’t have exacts. She dies in her sleep when she’s rather old. Her last words are probably something to Jess before bed. Maybe something simple like “I love you.” Maybe instead of saying goodnight, she sort of knows she won’t wake up, so she says “I love you. Goodbye.”Mitali: I haven’t really thought of how she’ll die. If she dies fighting, her last words might be swears. Actually, she would probably die fighting. Protecting her own. I could imagine her staying behind in some situation to make time for who she’s helping. She’d fight to the death to keep her people safe. Her last words would be something along the lines of “Get somewhere safe. I’ll hold them off.” (as a quick side note, i haven’t beat New Dawn yet, so im not sure what’s going on ending wise).

What would break your OC beyond repair? Has it happened?

Adora: OKAY so I have an AU where Adora actually is The Judge (my usual canon is it’s Pratt). The thing that would break Adora the most is Jess seeing her as the Judge. She’d break to pieces if the people she loved had to see her like that. Especially if it’s Jess seeing her. She’d feel as though she’s betrayed everything she once stood for, everything she and Jess did together.Mitali: Mitali has already been broken a few times. She wasn’t long out of a bunker when her mothers were killed. That was the first. She was alone for awhile after that. After she joined up with Rush’s people, she ended up in love with a woman, but she was killed on the train.  At this point, she’d have to suffer multiple breaks at once to be beyond repair. Losing people important to her is her breaking point.

What is your OC’s worst memory?

Adora: She remembers her birth parents. She occasionally has nightmares about them, even as long out as New Dawn. She was adopted when she was around three or four. She had been badly abused before that and her back is covered in scars, so her worst memories are getting them. One thing that kept her going through spearheading the resistance is knowing she’d been through worse before she had lost her first tooth.Mitali: Watching her parents get killed. They’d been out of the bunker for maybe six months. She got away, but it didn’t really matter after that.

Does your OC have nightmares? What do they contain?

Adora: She has periods in her life where nightmares are more prevalent. She went to therapy when she was able until she moved to Hope County, and that helped, but after everything against the peggies, she definitely had constant nightmares in the bunker. Sometimes they’d be about her birth parents, but sometimes it might be things hunting her in the dark. Occasionally, she’ll have nightmares about Faith. Not Faith speaking to her, but what Faith went through. The drugs and abuse and what-not.Mitali: She has nightmares fairly often. Mostly being blamed for things she couldn’t stop. Other times it’s just standard “can’t move while things happen to her” dreams.

Your OC is facing their worst enemy. Who/what is it?

Adora: Fuck, Joseph Goddamn Seed. She despises that man. She’d have ripped his heart out if she got the chance. Who cares if he changed a bit between 5 and New Dawn? He still killed his infant, hour old daughter, still fucked with Faith (and the women who were “Faith” before her), killed so many innocents, and condoned his siblings torturing people.Mitali: Ugh is it cliche if I say herself? There’s a lot of things she needs to work on.

What would get your OC to make themselves disappear?

Adora: In a way, Adora did disappear. She’d never advertise that she was the deputy. The only people that know are her close friends and family; Jess, Grace, Hudson, the Ryes.Mitali: She’s just go. All she would need to do is head east and no one would know her. Let her accent bleed through more than she usually does and she’s got a new life out there.

Does your OC have any weaknesses? Have these ever been exploited?

Adora: She acts like she doesn’t, but mentions of physical abuse can make things bad for her. No one has used it, but if someone were to somehow know her history and talk about her birth parents abusing her, it’d fuck her up really bad.Mitali: Despite claiming she has no connections and what not, her weakness is people. The people she loves, the people who are her friends. Right before the (first?) siege of Prosperity, the twins used that against her. Threatening Carmina as well as those children.

What is the closest your OC has come to death?

Adora: Pick one. She nearly died at age three when her birth mother hit her just a little harder than usual. She was taken from them after that.  Or how about the many, many times in Hope County? The helicopter crash, the near drowning, the Bliss overdoses, and the frequent kidnapping. Having Wrath carved into her chest. There’s more.Mitali: She’s had plenty. Her first was probably getting attacked by a wolf when she was on her own around 16 years old, after her mothers died. She won, but barely. And then she’s got the bits in New Dawn. More near drowning!

What is the greatest sacrifice your OC could ever make? Under what circumstance would they make it?

Adora: Letting Joseph Seed go. She wants more than anything to kill him. Pulling herself back and, not forgiving, but letting go that grudge in order to leave Hope County and move on with her life is a huge thing for her. Sacrificing the closure of ending it. The circumstance she makes it under is finding somewhere safer, where she, her girlfriend, and anyone else who joins them, can find comfort and support.Mitali: Herself. She would give herself, for the right reasons. She would do it for the people she protects. If something happened and she couldn’t ensure the safety of her people, or specifically, the small group of friends she’s made (the Ryes, Grace, Gina and her baby, Savannah, all of them), she’d stay behind to give them the chance to escape. She’d give her life so she didn’t have to lose anyone again.

What is the worst loss your OC has suffered?

Adora: The end of Far Cry 5 :/Mitali: Again, her mothers. She was barely past being a child when she lost them.

Your OC is forced to kill a member of their family or a friend. Who do they choose, and why?

Adora: I wanna joke and say Sharky, but I really think she’d kill herself. But if it’s blood family, she’d kill one of her birth parents. They deserve it.Mitali: Family wise, she has none. Friend wise, most are dead with the train crash. She’d kill herself before she killed any of the Ryes. If it has to be an actual friend, she’d have to go Gina, but she’d make sure it was a face to face fight, not a sudden knife to the back.

To what extent would your OC go to survive?

Adora: Fighting, she’ll do near anything. Surviving, it really depends. If it’s her on her own, she’ll do anything. If there are others with her, she’s more likely to forgo food so they can eat. Think Nina from Bioshock 2, starving herself so the kids can live longer.Mitali: As far as she has to. There’s little she hasn’t done to keep herself alive when she was living alone. It was probably four years as a teenager that she was alone in the woods. You do what you have to.

Has your OC suffered trauma?

Adora: Her entire life except like. The parts with her dads or her gf.Mitali: Watching her parents die is probably the biggest.

Would your OC let themselves be forced into a loveless marriage?

Adora: Hell no.Mitali: Mmmmmmmaybe. Lots a conditions there. It’s unlikely though, cause her biggest dream is having a wife and a child.

How far would you OC go to protect their loved ones?

Adora & Mitali, because it’s the same for both: Yes. Yes is how far.

Your OC has exactly 15 minutes to live. What is their last act?

Adora: She’d just want to be held by Jess until she passed. Hearing aids in, if only to hear Jess’s voice.Mitali: Idk, she’d probably pick a fight with the nearest Highwaymen. The Twins if she could.

What is your OC’s greatest failure?

Adora: She considers her biggest failure being not killing Joseph Seed. She wants him dead more than anything, but she failed and has to live with it.Mitali: She considers the train her biggest failure.

What is the worst possible ending for your OC and why?

Adora: When she’s taken and turned into the Judge, She loses too much of herself. Almost anything else would be better.Mitali: The worst for Mitali would probably be… ending up a Highwaymen or something similar. Going against her morals, killing the innocents she once protected, and not caring. Becoming the rash, chaotic, and violent type of person she usually fights.

What is your OC’s preferred method of death?

Adora: Something painless. She wouldn’t care what, but she’d want it painless and she wouldn’t want to be cold.Mitali: She’d want to go down fighting. Something bloody and tiring and altogether only just able to overwhelm her after she’s already put up too much of a fight.

How does your OC sleep at night?

Adora: Depends on where she is. If she’s in the bunker she uses, she can sleep through the night most of the time. If Jess is in bed with her, she’s comfortable and gets a full night’s rest. If she’s not in the bunker, she’s got it a little harder to fall asleep and much easier to wake.Mitali: She tosses and turns a lot.The smallest sound can wake her, which is why she prefers not to sleep in Prosperity. The bunk rooms are too noisy for her. It’s only when she can share a bed with Savannah can she get any real sleep there at all.

What is the worst thing your OC has done?

Adora: She feels, despite the conditions of Faith’s death and what Faith had done, that killing Faith was one of the worst things. Maybe the worst. It has to do with their similar background: abused and used and eventually adopted-- But where Adora’s fathers gave her a loving home and helped her recover, Faith’s new brothers got her further into her addiction and made everything worse. Adora hates that she had to kill Faith. She would’ve rather tried to help. Mitali: How she killed the men who killed her mothers. It wasn’t slow and it wasn’t quick.

What is your OC the most guilty about?

Adora: Not calling her fathers before she went on the job to arrest Joseph.Mitali: Bringing her girlfriend with her when they headed on the train for Prosperity.

Would your OC be considered good or bad by an outsider?

Adora: Good, probably. She’s a warm, smiley sort of person.Mitali: Bad, until they got to know her. She’s pretty grumpy and swears a good deal.

Who does your OC hate most?

Adora: Joseph Seed!!!Mitali: She’s full of self hate if that counts.

What does your OC love most, and what would they do to keep it?

Adora: Adora Addicks loves, with all her heart and soul, one lovely Jessica Black, and would do anything at all to keep her. She’s not materialistic, but she would and has killed a man for Jess.Mitali: After the bombs, there isn’t much physically that she could lay claim on and be attached to. If she has to be attached to an object, it’d be her shotgun. But her love… it’s a limited supply thing. She tries not to do that sort of thing because she often loses it soon after. But she loves the Ryes and what they’ve done for her. And she’s fighting an entire gang to keep them.

Has your OC ever had unrequited feelings of any kind for someone?

Adora: She definitely had a baby gay crush on Grace. Definitely had a few crushes on girls in high school that just weren’t meant to be. The woman who taught her to spar was her idol for a while too.Mitali: Admittedly I’d count how Mitali feels for Kim. There’s other women in her past too, but they’re just faces for her at this point. She’d do anything for Kim. Which is why she got Nick back as soon as she could.

How does your OC deal with rejection?

Adora: She pouts for a bit but gets some space so she can clear her head and feel better.Mitali: She’s used to it. Might have a few drinks, but no more.

Would your OC ever reject someone?

Adora: Literally any man. She’s a lesbian after all.Mitali: Once more, she’d reject literally any man. She might be okay with like… a platonic marriage with Rush? More of a “we’re partners and we’re close but we don’t do that whole sex thing”. Maybe raise a kid with him. But every other man would be a big old NO.

Why does your OC have the flaws that they have?

Adora: She can be spiteful. She might bury the hatchet, but she also remembers where she did. She sees spite as getting back at those who’ve wronged her but in a creative way. For example, she lives happily as a deaf woman, often without wearing her hearing aides, because her birth parents often hit her for “not listening”. But she can’t listen, and she’s happy with who she is. She doesn’t need to hear.Mitali: She’s an angry person. It stems from trauma in her teens and not being able to properly socially develop between 16 and 20.

Would your OC kill?

Adora: Doesn’t like to, but she has and would again.Mitali: She was only 15 when she killed her first person.

Would your OC torture?

Adora: If the right reasons were there or if she was too in her emotions.Mitali: Definitely.

Does your OC hate? To what extent?

Adora: Yes. To the extent she wants to kill Joseph with her bare hands.Mitali: Definitely. To the extent she’s killed people she hated in gruesome ways out of revenge.

How does your OC let out anger?

Adora: She takes a break and goes fishing. It calms her down and lets her think things out.Mitali: She might go hunting. Could be for deer, could be for highwaymen. Maybe for something monstrous if she needs a challenge. Probably takes Gina with her for whatever she’s fighting.

“Hey im Mark, how can I help you with?”

“My car just needs new tires”

“Since we are all booked today, we can set you up for tomorrow at one, two or three in the afternoon. Do you have your own wheels or do you want to buy?”

“It doesn’t really matter since I will be leaving the car here. I’ll just buy the wheels”

“Okay, that’s fine with us, let me print out some papers so you can decide what wheels you would want,” the guy printed out, “I’ll give you two options, there’s the fifty thousand miles and the sixty thousand miles, if you decide on the sixty we will be working on it on Friday since we need to get them delivered over here and fifty is a great deal, still a great mark and it’s less expensive”

“I’ll do the fifty, also, there’s this clinking noise coming from the back I don’t know if you can check that for me”

“We can check it for you it might be part of the wheeling problem or be part of the car, what side is it on?”

“The back left, well that’s what I hear when I’m driving”

“Okay we can check that up on you, can I get a name”

“Have a nice day,” Harrison walked out meeting Tom in the other car

“All set, Yeah, let’s go,” Harrison’s friend, Tom drove back home.

“Y/n,” your dad called out to you “She’s fixing Eric’s truck, I wonder where he got the truck because it’s always having issues”

“I’m not the owner Henry”

“Y/n”

“Hold on, give me one,” you moved the stick shift “fix it,” you walked over to your dad, “what’s up”

“I need you to check up on one car after your lunch break, it’s out in the front, needs tire change and check on the back left side the owner said that it makes a noise”

“Okay, you can call Dave telling him that his stick shift was loosen and I tightened it up and that when you turn on the engine, it was to pieces that’s why it was also hard to turn the car on,” your dad hands you the car keys, “of course, a Land Rover”

“Just go fix it and since it’s your last car you’re going to turn it in to the owner”

“What about Henry?”

“He’s gonna be working on another car, it’s the end of your shift as well”

“Fine”

“This is him”

“Hello Mr.Osterfield. I’m calling from Jermon’s auto repair shop”

“Just call me Harrison”

“Okay, anyways, the clinking is the wheel bearing, and you definitely need to get it changed, we can for sure change it here within an hour or so”

“I thought it was supposed to be done by seven in the afternoon”

“Do you want your car or not?” You sassed “I’ll be there. What’s the total?”

“Give me a sec,” you scrolled down to the bottom of the page, “five hundred and fifty one with eighty cents”

“Thank you,” you were excited to see who this guy was since he did sounded young on the phone. You walked back to the car seeing your father fixing the car, “Okay I called”

“Lucky he came here just on time if not he could’ve been in trouble, here you don’t fully take it out, you loosen it up a bit so it can easily. Raise the car up just a little we will need to take the oil out first before we can change the bearing. The center of the rotor will have a dust cap, use a screwdriver and a hammer to take the dust cap off but do it gently,” You hit the cap until it was off, “now there will be the cotter pin and castle nut. Grab the rotor and pull it towards you- there ya go now use a screwdriver to remove the inner bearing grease seal”?

There was a black clean truck pulling up, and off came a guy, “hi how’s it going?”

“I’m Harrison Osterfield,” a guy in his early twenties walked in

“Come right over and we can check you out,” Henry clicked on a few things, “are you paying cash or card?”

“Card”

“Swipe or insert when the arrow turns blue,” Harrison guy stared at the machine, “do you want the recipe printed or emailed?”

“Printed please. Were you the one who fixed my car?” Henry printed out the papers

“My co-worker and her dad were the ones who fixed it. I’ll have her drop your car in the front,” Henry got up and walk towards you

“Is the owner here,” you cleaned your hands on a rag and got in the car. There was a guy standing with another guy talking

“Harrison Osterfield,” you called out a curly dirty blonde guy looked up seeing his blue eyes., “here you go,”

“I’ll meet you back at the house,” the other one got in his truck and drove off

“Your car is good to go”

“Thank you,” you gave him a smile he is a very good looking guy

“Yeah no problem”

“Can I set an appointment?” Harrison asked

“We can go inside and schedule you for another appointment”

“No, can I set an appointment for a date. If you don’t have a boyfriend,” you but the inside of your check not wanting to jump up and down in front of him

“Your smooth. I’ll send you when I’m available”

“You don’t have my number”

“Yeah but our system does, I’ll text you then Harrison”

“Sounds good,” Harrison got in the car and drove off. You calmly walked back inside and squealed jumping in excitement. Your phone starts to ring

“I see a customer who I think is having a seizure”

“HEY THATS ME!”

“Seems like you want to say something, come over here grease monkey,” you hang up and walked out to your dad

“Guess who-got asked out-on a date?” You jumped around your father

“Me?” Your dad fanned himself, “do they not know I’m happily married”

“No, me!”

“Did you force the poor guy?” Henry shouted

“Shut up Henry and no I did not”

“I’m gonna get his number and see what I can wear for our date,” you walked back inside and searched for Harrison’s number.

“I actually thought you wouldn’t send me a message”

“Well Harrison, you thought wrong. Where are we going”

“Just wait”

“You know my dad knows I went with you, my brother is a hacker, my mom is a cop. So choose wisely on your moves”

“Oh shit, no way”

“Seriously, as long as you don’t bury me alive inside a ditch we will go just fine”

“Well this took a sharp turn but here we are”

“You serious?”

“You don’t like it?”

“I love this place. I love the milkshakes here and they make amazing chicken stripes and the fries go very well with the shake”

“My family owes this place”

“Are you serious?”

“I’m being serious, I take over late nights and sometimes mornings usually when it gets busy”

“Is this where you take all the girls you ask out”

”Actually, since this is considered a fast food restaurant. Other girls consider it as a fattening place,” Harrison turned off the engine, “give me a sec, stay here,” Harrison quickly gets out of the car jogging to your side and opening the door

“You’re a gentleman”

“My parents taught me well,” you were nervous like no other. Yeah you’ve been on a couple of dates here and there but this one felt different. Especially since other guys don’t open doors for you when you’re out on a date.

“Haz, what brings you here?

“I’m on a date. Gina this is y/n, y/n, this is Gina”

“I know who you are, I come here very often,” Gina looked surprised,

“Oh, okay. Go sit down and I’ll be there in a few,” she walked to the back, “Harrison brought a date,” Gine smiled widely

“Who is she?” Charlotte asked

“She comes here every other day. She really likes the milkshakes,” Gina shrugged

“Is she the one who works at the auto shop?” Charlotte wasn’t sure if she got the right person or not

“Yeah. That’s the girl and her name is y/n. She really loves the strawberry and chocolate milkshakes” Jim stared through the open window

“Of course she’s going to like it, she’s not like the other ones who freaks out about everything,” they all went back to work

“Hey look, a guy is having trouble, can we pull over?”

“Yeah, you know more about cars than I do,” Harrison pulled behind him, the both of you got out of the car, “hey mate, you alright?”

“No, I don’t know what’s wrong with this, I recently got this car from the dealer and I’m trying to reach my wife but she won’t answer her damn phone”

“Let me take a look at this”

“Please girl, don’t touch it”

“Sir, please let her do her thing, she knows more about cars than the both of us combined,” you looked at the car smiling down, Harrison had your back.

“Okay, well nothing major is wrong but the battery has a lose wire, I’ve fixed cars like this, even if you get the battery running it will still turn off. I can call a towing truck for you”

“Please, I don’t have any numbers with me,” you quickly dialed the number

“Thank you for calling Jermon’s auto repair shop this is Mark”

“Mark it’s y/n, I need a towing truck by Sherrers Lane and Wenting street near the milkshake shop”

“I’ll send one right away, it will probably take seven minutes with no traffic”

“Great, Thanks Mark,” the line ended and you looked at the guy, “towing truck should be here in seven-ish minutes, I can give you the number in the shop I work,”

“That would be fantastic,” you gave the guy the phone number, “I can take it from here”

“No problem, just don’t judge a girl right away,” you saw Harrison nod at the guy

“How long have you two been together?”

“Oh we aren’t really together,” you slowly walked away Harrison said his goodbye before getting in the car

“You know, I rather have a girl who knows more about cars work on my engine,” You looked over at Harrison, “like car wise not the other stuff well I mean-ugh why do I do this to myself,” you saw a flustered Harrison

“Keep going, it’s cute”

“Do you need to go home right now or can you still be out”

“I can still be out, where are you taking me?”

“I hope you don’t mind walks”

“I don’t mind at all,” Harrison parked the car and got out, right when you were about to open, he opened the door for you, “you know, guys usually don’t open doors for me”

“Well if I get a second date I’ll be opening doors for you,” you smiled at the ground

I’ll Start Living When….

How many times do you say to yourself, “I’ll do what I really want when… I’ve finished the project… when I’ve got that next promotion… When I make Director… When I have become a multi-millionaire.”

How often have you missed a date with your significant other, or an important milestone in your child’s lives or thought I’ll make time to find my soul mate and true love once I am successful (on my terms) It is a very common pattern for many. Whilst it does have a positive impact on achieving your professional goals make no mistake such choices have a significant impact on your quality of life and your future emotional, spiritual and physical health over the long term.

One of the things many have found during the lockdown is that they have had the opportunity to review what is really important in life. However, it is all too easy to revert to old ways of thinking, acting and speaking. It would be a great shame if those who had recognised what was really important to them then lost sight of that newfound awareness as soon as life got busier.

In reality, we only have THIS MOMENT. The past has gone - nothing you do will bring it back. We cannot guarantee the future - I learned that lesson at 2pm on February 19th 1983 when I fell down a mountain whilst skiing. - Many have learned this lesson through their experience with Covid. The only thing we can all be sure of is this moment. Learning to live in the moment is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.

There are three dimensions of time; the past, the present and the future. To live a healthy and productive life we need to balance living with all three. Let me explain what I mean.

The past has much to teach us. Indeed life often throws us the same experience - dressed up in a variety of guises until we learn the lessons. Let me give you an example. Why is it that so many people have one disastrous relationship after another? They choose the same type of people, behave in the same way and get the same results over and over again.

Once we learn the lessons the past offers us, the ingrained beliefs can be transformed and as a result the choices we make and patterns of our behaviour change. The past offers us all the opportunity to understand how what we believe drives how we behave. Learning how to behave differently is not as hard as you might think. Being open to the possibility is often all it takes to start the process. Understanding that everything we do or fail to do is actually a matter of choice moves the process on enormously.

If you stay stuck in the past, always looking back; either wishing that the present was good as the past has been or constantly regretting what has been and wishing things had been different and the best that the present has to offer remains unnoticed.

If your attention is always on the future, chasing the next goal, constantly striving for something just out of reach you miss the precious gift of the here and now. There is a danger that by the time you wake up to what is going on you will have missed out on so many potentially wonderful experiences. It that at that point that you are liable to find yourself retiring from work. I know so many people who focus so significantly on their work that they often have no personal interests, no one special to share their time with and no sense of who they are when they are not being the professional version of them.  One of those people used to be me!

Getting the balance right is important, if you never give a thought to the future – to setting any goals or planning for future needs and how to protect them you are likely to fall short of fulfilling your potential growth and find yourself in difficulty, financially if nothing else.

There are many people who focus almost exclusively on the future and their goals both short and long term. They constantly defer living in the here and now as they are busy chasing the dream, which they believe will bring them happiness. Whilst they are busy chasing their dream they leave their significant others to manage as best they can. They are convinced that they are working hard to provide a good future for themselves and their loved ones. They often calculate the cost of a lost 'present' very differently to their partners and families.

In the ongoing struggle to achieve even more success, there is no time just to be… to stop and stare or to smell the roses. There are many people who have little idea how to relax and enjoy the moment. The concept is alien to them and they find it most uncomfortable. They see no reason why anyone would want to do it.

Here are my top ten tips to learning to live in the moment, they are designed to fit in with a busy schedule and are just a starting point, they may appear inconsequential but I know from personal experience and from the experience of the many clients who have also used them that when done regularly they start to have a profound and positive effect.

1)   As you wake up each morning spend a couple of minutes breathing deeply. Breathe in deeply to the count of 2, hold it for 4 and breathe out to 4. As you breathe be conscious of exactly how each part of your body is feeling.

2)   Tell yourself ( with real wellie! that you choose to be happy today and that you will find time to enjoy this day to the full. (Once past it is gone forever.) A state of happiness is actually your choice. To find out in more detail how see 'The Happiness Challenge' (link below)

3)   As you take your shower or bath in the morning be conscious of how the water feels on your skin. Feel the temperature of the water and the sensation of the soap or shower gel on your skin. Contrast that with the roughness of the towel or the softness of your robe. Really focus on your senses and engage in the experience.

4)   During the day stop and take a small amount of time to consciously notice your surroundings. Use each of your senses in turn, what can you smell or hear, look for the colour or texture of things around you. Be aware of how you are feeling. Even five minutes out of your busy day done on a regular basis will make a difference.

5)   Smile, and make a conscious decision to make someone you pass in the road, corridor or lift - smile back. Be aware of how it makes you feel. If you are wearing a mask - smile with your eyes and set the intention in your mind that you are sending the other person a smile. It may sound crazy but intentions make a significant difference.

6)   Create five small random acts of kindness during your day. They could be a simple as letting a fellow driver out of a side turning, making a cup of tea, phoning someone who is still isolating or opening the door for someone at the supermarket. Notice how it makes you feel.

7)   Do something, which makes you smile or laugh each day. Be conscious of how you feel when you laugh.

8)   Take the opportunity to observe an aspect of nature you look through the window, go for a walk, drive to the supermarket or travel to or from work. Look at the sky – see the cloud formation or look at how the trees are moving with the wind, look at the individual petals of a flower, or watch the raindrops making a pattern on the train window.

9)   Set time aside within your busy timetable for you. Actively plan your time over a week or fortnightly cycle, some clients find it helpful to book a space in their diary - 'Meeting With Self'. Set aside time each week to enjoy some time simply 'being' - time to walk with no other intention than to enjoy it, or time to spend with your significant other.

10) Collect gratitudes during the day. Notice things to feel grateful for as you go through your normal day - make it easy. A hot shower, a nice cuppa, a comfortable chair, a call from a friend, the beauty of nature are some examples. The important thing is that you take time to notice and give thanks. Just before you go to sleep think of five things that you have been grateful for during the day. They can be as small or as significant as you choose.

May be it is time to start living now rather than waiting for your real “life” to begin once you have achieved whatever goals you have set yourself, the ideal weight, the perfect relationship, professional success or great wealth. The danger is that by the time you are ready to “live” you may be on your own or your health will have suffered in the mean time.

W/ONDERLAN/U/NDERLAND DIVERGENCY

            Now much of this divergency stems from varying factors, the main being: A: while the first movie had a good storyline, it didn’t delve as deep as it could have. B: obviously, certain actors have done some things so for my editing capabilities, i had to change his fc. C: I’m someone who very much likes to take a base and work beyond what i know the company would ever give, which is why i take the base of burtonverse and the game, as well as companion guide, and move beyond that. D: My blog is very much based in a verse where a spell happened and all the animals are no longer animals, which screws with people. and E: because ttlg was a hot mess on the major scale and as someone who half finished her own sequel to the first movie, barely acknowledge ttlg’s existence beyond regular whining.

            So in the essence of the changes i’ve taken, both for my blogs purpose to keep the b/urtonverse name… possible, but also for my own safety since i’ve dealt with people coming at me for something that isnt my fault, isn’t related, or otherwise just shows that theres a lot of uneducated adolescents on this website that actually believe telling people to kill themselves either for differing opinions or lack of knowledge on a topic or person, i’m severely trying to avoid dealing with those people. So this is a wild mesh of thoughts not put together anywhere nearly as well as it could be, but im doing my best with my limited amount of free time and non chemical thought process as i am capable.

            now nobody cares abt that stuff so lets get into the changes, rewrites, and divergency, shall we?

            Now in my Underland (Which I know is different from Wo/nderland, but i do still think having it not be called w/onderland was a stupid idea therefore my calling it wonderland is both shade and because i type it quicker) its been several years since Alice’s visit (probably a lot less for her, if even a year, Gina had this cool time post for s/yfy alice that i keep alive every few months by regularly reblogging it so I’ll probably go find that and bring it back again later. ) and there’s been a magical outbreak– things creeping up which had long been deceased, spells cast to make nearly all the animals humanoid (the horses werent lucky enough, and it didn’t effect ches/hire because chesh already had a human form, and the capability to transform into whatever he pleased to a point), and it screws with a lot of minds for awhile, but something about being humanoid felt familiar to Mally.

            Now, something which they never fully explained was how everyone knew each other. The game hints at them all knowing each other for awhile, many factors hint at St/ayne being a heavy influencer in the game, and likely having done something to the Queens relationship ( which, of course, was all dropped in the sequel because god forbid they give crispin more money), and i refuse to believe what ttlg gave us was anything close to what it actually was (especially with the lack of stay/ne, who played such a major role in the first movie that it makes no sense for him not to be in their past)

            this is gonna be long, and be depth for a lot of characters. A good deal of Stay/ne by my opinions and headcanons can be read on my sta/yne sideblog (illosovic) in his about, and that blog is mostly just me whining abt ttlg but whatever. Most else can be read here, but i will touch on st/ayne some here, too.

TEA TRIO

            Obviously the part most people care about, and with the face i actually chose for S/tayne, Sebby is not only one of the better actors to play a hatter imo (i legitimately only watched ouat for him ngl) even though he has done it before, i do feel like in the version i adapted from b/urtons and the hatter we had from b/urton anyways, seb could pull off the personality fluctuations as well as the insanity best. I was honestly torn on the alternate for a long time because i didnt want to use someone who’s played a hatter before, but all in all, who better to play a hatter than someone who has played a hatter and absolutely killed it.

            anyways, the actual important part of this is, Everything ttlg had regarding mally in the past, that shiz aint real here. M/allymkun was born shortly before the R/ed Queen took over W/onderland, after her biological father was framed as a war criminal, her mother turned her into a mouse, and abandoned her in a clearing the forest by Witzend, and after the King and Queen already died, and Mi/rana was set to take over. I actually see it as Mirana hadn’t been Queen for that long before I/racebeth took the crown, because the longer M/irana was Queen, the less sense the story makes in my opinion, which I will get into.

            Thackery is actually who found Mally, and that was after the H/ightopp residence had been burned down. Mally never learned about Hatter’s former name, at least not until C/heshire told her, because she never knew him as anything but Hatter.

            Whilst out looking for something that could be of help to them (Years before the Oraculum was found), Thackery came across a tiny thing left alone beneath a large leaf. She was extremely tiny, frail, didn’t seem like she’d survive long. Neither of them were sure of her species yet, but Hatter took to taking care of her. She was raised by the Hatter and the Hare, and much of who she is comes from the two of them.

            As with the fact she didn’t know either Queen, nor Sta/yne prior to Irace/beth’s takeover, Mallymkun never really came to know what the real personality of any of them was. She knew Ira/cebeth was evil, St/ayne was her lapdog, and M/irana was the truest good, because that is what Hatter told her. Hatter raised her, Hatter trained her, and the main reason Mally knew Miran/a could have the potential of acting just as bad as her sister was because she saw a moment in which Mira/na went dark. But she believed Mir/ana had to be the better ruler, because Hatter said so!

            Each held their own capabilities, T/hackery with his minor Telekinesis (often used only with teacups, but occasionally bolders as well.), Hatter with his ability to conjoin objects in his mind, as long as they were able to fit together (worked brilliantly with creating delicacies in food, something both he and Th/ackery could do) but Mally wasn’t like that. She had none of the gifts they possessed, which led to Hatter teaching her much more fighting techniques, Thackery as well, until she had to start teaching herself the rest. Her physical capabilities go far beyond that of most of those in Won/derland, in spite of her small size. (only grew stronger when she got bigger.

           Mally had once gone undercover in the Red Kingdom, which she doesn’t entirely remember. An accidental mishap caused her to turn humanoid then, and St/ayne quickly figured out who she was– hard not to when she looked so much like her mother. He’d taken to manipulating her, which she fell for for a time, even developing a slight crush on St/ayne himself, though she saw his true nature not long after, and more of a fear grew from that.

C/HESHIRE CAT

There actually aren’t many changes to the C/heshire Cat, or many additions I’ve made personally (my friends who write him do a far more beautiful job of that.) I do include the reference in the book, however, where The Du/chess views the Che/shire Cat as her pet. Whilst C/hesh doesn’t see himself as her pet, he does take advantage of her spoiling of him. C/heshire also wasn’t exactly effected by the spell, since he already could transform into a humanoid form, as well as copy others. 

THE RE/D KNAVE 

Il/osovic S/tayne, has the most changes I’ve made next to mally. Mostly due to the fact that his character, in my opinion, was extremely underused. With all the hints and inferences made for his character, they didn’t really deliver. He could easily have been the real main villain, much of what happened could easily have been caused by him, much of which I have here, though I do have to make edits to that. 

Mainly, I view Sta/yne as the whistleblower. he purposely ensured the rift already forming between the siblings grew worse, he set them up against each other, he was behind every bit of the plot, or encouraged it forward, just to ensure he had a shot at whichever queen became superior. He lost with M/irana, he wasn’t going to lose with Irace/beth. He couldn’t stand being around Ir/acebeth, but like hell was he gonna let her know that. He’d flirt, he’d manipulate, and he’d slyly degrade her until she felt like she needed him. He emotionally manipulated her to the point he was in control, and he wasn’t planning on letting that control slide.

He was also, at one point, friends with Hatter. St/ayne was a poor boy growing up, but Ta/rrant hardly judged him, but as St/ayne grew bigger, jealousy over how his sister was treated with love, whilst his mother harmed him, his brother was popular and he was ignored, and his growing desire to gain so much power, nobody could hurt him again, that forged a rift in their friendship. By the time they were adults, and Sta/yne already hurt M/irana, he encouraged the destruction of Hatter’s village and family, shattering whatever bond they formed as kids, as well as ensuring Hatter knew what pain was. Something, he felt, he did not know.

WHI/TE RABBIT

Whi/te Rabbit, by contrast, is starkly different. M/cTwisp is an agent of Time, fulfilling his role as the guide to Alice, and M/cTwisp is likely older than most others– though, in some situations, he hardly realizes it himself. His only responsibility is to guide Alice to her destiny, each time the clock turns. Sometimes, when a new Alice is born, he forgets himself, practically reborn in the moment. He’s a stopwatch given to him by Time itself, allowing M/cTwisp to temporarily freeze Time in a moment to accomplish a task, and the time traversement of Wonderland’s portals through other realms (many of which transfere through M/cTwisps own halls), Time never passes for M/cTwisp. Not in the sense it does for others. Whilst months would pass for a normal creature who left Wonderland and returned a week later, hardly a day would pass for M/cTwisp. Time always occurs as a constant for him, no matter how it occurs for others. He is also capable of traversing to exact points in Upperland’s time should he need to. 

MOCK TURTLE

    An extremely apathetic man, the Mock Turtle was never entirely a turtle, and never entirely anything else. He longed for the days he was in the sea, until he was cursed to live between lands. A ‘teacher’ in a way, though his version of school far different than others are accustomed to. He ‘taught’ the Queens, but eventually was sent off back to the sea by the King for disrespecting M/irana during a lecture, mostly for stating she hadn’t the heart to be a Queen, she barely had the heart to swim in the sea. He had been particularly kind to Ira/cebeth, however.

THE CATERPILLAR

A//bsolem, the wise. Many view him as the all knowing in Wonderland, yet many still only hear him talk in riddles and puzzles. Mallymkun really hates the way he talks, tbh. She hates how he makes a point to make it so you have to figure something out on your own. But, she likes how his words can be taken wrong and prove her point, even if her point is actually wrong. 

DODO BIRD

Uilleam held full belief in Alice, and, after narrowly escaping the Jub Jub bird, would later return to his post as a mentor in the W/hite Queen’s court. A nobleman, he’s seen as wise, often kind, though he holds the mentality that nobody should have to lose for one to win– something that kept him from fighting in the war at the start. He is extremely good with kids, but many adults tend to dislike him, except when he takes their side. In certain situations, however, he will state that there needs to be a winner, which is what led to him finally taking part in the resistance, and helping to take the R/ed Queen down. 

BAYARD

The most loyal of beings, Ba/yard was forced to serve the R/ed Queen for a great deal of time, but only so he could protect his wife and pups. M/allymkun used him as a sort of horse due to her size at the time, and he hadn’t minded. Often, he comes over to Mally, acting much like a father figure to her, as he does on occasion with Alice. Ba/yard cares far more for people than he likely should, but would risk anyone else for the safety of his kids and wife, whom he holds in the highest of regards. 

THE QUEENS

The tart thing was the stupidest thing i’ve ever seen, i’m just pointing that out right now. I believe there was a rift long before any incident. I/racebeth’s accident wasn’t M/irana’s fault, and M/irana never meant to be malicious to her sister. Ira/cebeth was spoiled when she was young, but when M/irana was born, most of her parents attention went to her– and I/racebeth was left mostly to her tutors, trying to raise her to being a good queen. 

S/tayne was initially attracted to M/irana, though he played nice with both princesses. When they were younger, S/tayne had started courting M/irana– though, it was kept private, the lowly stable boy (though, eventually gaining a promotion to a knight, with the held of M/irana) being considered too lowly for a princess. Though, S/tayne often had a wandering eye, and betrayed M/irana– which led to her lashing out on him, and causing his loss of an eye.

He kept his position, having glamored his way into the hearts of the princesses parents (a gift which ran in his family– he could bewitch and charm others into falling in a form of love with him, trick them into adoring him, manipulate to new bounds.) M/irana never trusted him again. The eye was ruled as an accident on assignment, and the rumors of Mi/rana’s mistreatment of a man she wasn’t officially with (S/tayne, spreading the rumor that a woman flirted with him, and whilst he hadn’t responded, the disastardly princess was so filled with jealously over not getting her way for once, she harmed him for it. ) grew, and he ensured I/racebeth would learn his version. 

I/racebeth, already feeling emotional distraught from her parents, became an easier target for S/tayne. When their parents died ,and M/irana was labeled next in line, S/tayne took it as a chance to send Ir/acebeth into a fit of rage, and have her J/abberwocky attack the H/ightopp clan, taking the crown and becoming the Queen. He also whispered the rumors of infidelity of I/racebeth’s husband to her people, ensuring Ir/acebeth would hear of the faults. The Red K/ing’s demise being an aftereffect of St/ayne ensuring Ira/cebeth thought he cheated on her with M/irana, an ultimate crime, and S/tayne made sure he was there to pick up the pieces. His adoring of her keeping his place held high, and ensured he got his way.

ALICE

breathes in, breathes out, M/ALLYMKUN DOESNT HATE ALICE!!!! NOT IN THE JEALOUSY SENSE!!! In fact, Mally’s distaste for Alice goes far beyond the stupid jealousy people think it’s about. Because, don’t forget, when Hatter said Alice was the right Alice, her treatment of Alice instantly changed– she was nice to her, she answered her questions, it was when Hatter’s life was put at risk because of Alice that Mally treated her badly again.

In the sense of my blog (and, when Mally first unlocks her powers, mostly) Alice had finally come back. Hatter missed her, and she left without a second thought. Mally didn’t like how Hatter perked up at Alice’s return, she hated how he suddenly started caring more for her than his friends, in her sights. 

She wasn’t jealous, Mally might have been in love with Tare, but she didn’t care if he didn’t fall in love with her. For flips sake, she stated directly that she thought he had a thing for M/irana, and seemed all dreamy about the idea.  You know she was shipping whitehats. 

But, Alice was just a child when Mally first saw her. Mally was training all her life to be a hero, she wanted to be the one to save Wonderland, then they found the o/raculum– and Alice was the labeled hero. Alice, upon returning, didn’t want to be the hero, and Mally hated that fact.

Mally was afraid, but she jumped at the chance to take Alice’s place as the hero. But she wasn’t allowed, she couldn’t save the world, that was Alice’s responsibility. 

And Alice only killed one creature.

And she was the hero.

Mally trained all her life for that, and she was pushed aside for Alice. Mally had been with Hatter through her entire life, she’d seen him at his lowest (including a time he couldn’t control his own actions anymore, an older headcanon of mine where he had accidentally hurt her because of his swings, which is what caused him to become so guilt ridden, he started being able to more easily be pulled from that state of mind– he didn’t want to hurt his friends ever again.) M/allymkun loved Hatter through everything, she never left him, she never left her friends, she stayed with them and she did everything she could to save them. 

But Alice was he hero.

And when Alice comes back again years later, and they’re faced against S/tayne again, Mally’s put in mortal danger.

But Hatter goes to Alice first.

not because he thinks she’s more important, Hatter weighed in the options, he thought Mally would be able to pull herself out of trouble, but Alice might not be able to. He went to Alice because he didn’t think she could save herself like Mally could. But that caused Mally to fall, and disappear for weeks while people thought she was dead. This is what broke the spell her mother placed on her, blocking her powers from being used, and keeping the rest of her family from being able to find her, but she was left abandoned, alone, and in pain, because Alice came first.

And Alice, thinking with her worlds point of view instead of theirs, thought Mally couldn’t have survived the fall. There wasn’t a way she could have lived from where she fell, and no way she could have gotten out of the water.

Mally thought they didn’t bother to look, but their search efforts were pointless.

She came back, she found out Alice said something, and she thinks her pain is Alice’s fault. If Alice wasn’t around, they could have found another way to defeat I/racebeth, they could have wom another way. Any Mally wouldn’t have had to experience pain.

Then there was the fact the marks of her father’s bloodline started appearing on her skin, marks remembered belonging to a clan that tried to destroy the royalty. Up until her father (whom nobody knows was her father), who fought for the King, was his greatest warrior, and was set to marry either M/irana or I/racebeth. He hadn’t, and her mother framed him to have killed the King and Queen. He disappeared, and the family was forever seen to be a collection of traitors.

Mally didn’t know any of that, she can’t even read to learn about further history beyond I/racebeth’s betrayal. 

People treated her differently, and she could only hold Alice responsible for that. 

Mally doesn’t hate Alice because she’s jealous of her and Hatter, she’s pissed off that Alice was (accidentally) the cause of her pain, and thinks that if Alice weren’t around, she wouldn’t have had to suffer at all.

Though, certain things started the second Mally became a humanoid– her eyes were different, but the resemblance to her mother was too strong to be ignored. It was pretty clear she was Feina’s daughter, especially to M/irana and I/racebeth– they had to see it, because they grew up with Feina, and spent a fair bit of time under her care. 

THE D/UCHESS

The D/uchess was a childhood friend of the Princesses, thought she wasn’t a royal at the time. Her mother was the former Duchess, and her father had died at a young age, shortly after her younger brother, I/losovic was born. Their mother treated her and her brother with great care, but I/losovic was treated with terrors– often beaten, no matter what he did. This was due to the work their mother took up to keep them in position, even if they no longer were wealthy as they were. Allergies were formed which led to a great deal of violence on their mothers part, and I/losovic held the closest range to her. 

Upon becoming a Duchess herself, she was always kind and well treated. C/heshire being a dear friend of hers, whom she considered her dear pet. Often she’d treat him to the greatest of delights. 

However, her friendship with the Queens had shattered overtime, due to I/losovic ensuring she held some form of hardship– he tricked the siblings into believing her horrid and evil, trying to tear the titles from their hands and steal their father from their mother. The D/uchess was banished, once the R/ed Queen took control, though she never took full stride in it. The only one who knows her whereabouts is C/heshire. 

MALLYS EXTENDED FAMILY

Her biological father, Vas Moraj. He is Gethris younger half brother, and is known to be the strongest, and most strange member of their family. The Moraj line was long known to be filled with traitors to the court, but Vas wanted to protect the royalty. He was the child of Fate, and though not exactly a deity himself, did possess far stronger powers than the rest of his family. He’d fallen in love with Feina in his youth, and had an affair with her,which led to Miseris and Mallymkun. He also raised her elder children, Seracien and Torielle, as his own. He wasn’t around when Mally and Mason were born, though, as Feina had trapped him in a pocket universe, to keep him out of her way. 

Feina Laquer Morae, an extremely powerful sorceress. She was only around 20 or so years older than the Queens, and being Wonderlands slowed aging, appeared around their age most of her life. She trained Mirana briefly in magic arts, and always tried to encourage Iracebeth not to let go of her title, that she could be the greatest queen of all, so long as she didn’t take no for an answer. A creature of chaos, and an empath, Feina held the power to force horrid memories back on a person, to force emotions on someone through touch, and held telepathy and telekinesis, among other things.  Her powers hadn’t transferred to Mallymkun nearly as much as her looks– out of all four of her children, Mallymkun held the greatest resemblance to her. 

Miseris, or Mason, for short, was raised by his uncle (whom he believed to be his father), Gethris. He was raised with the impression that his cousins, Jynx and Hayze, were his sisters, but over time, as his powers over the mind increased, he came to learn the truth. Especially when he met his elder half siblings (half cousins), and Seracien told him the truth. The rest, Mason worked out for himself, and he knew two things for sure– he was going to be one of the strongest members of his family, and when Mallymkun grew her powers, their powers combined could make them deities. 

Gethris horribly mistreated his own children, manipulating them into his own persnoal servants, and he hadn’t done much better with Miseris. Gethris partnered with Feina to destroy Vas, which feina agreed once she learned Vas was intending on denying the King’s wishes, so he could marry Feina instead of the princess. Gethris only got his hands on one of the twins, however, as Feina betrayed her half of the deal before he betrayed her. A spell was placed on Mallymkun, which kept her powers hidden away, her appearance altered into a mouse-like form, and her overall existence from Gethris knowledge or ability to find. As Gethris lost his powers centuries before, he planned on using Vas children to fulfill the prophecy– for their family to ascend– only he intended on taking Miseris and Mallymkun’s powers for himself, and destroy the rest of Wonderland.

When Gethris had gotten ahold of Mally, he tortured her in attempts to unlock all of her power. Miseris eventually let her out, and she ran off, Though, Gethris is always searching, and didn’t plan to stop.

TIME, SPACE, FATE (not pictured)

each their own being. Fate defines the future, Time controls itself, and Space alters and holds between each realm. Fate chose to enhance the Moraj family through leaving a piece of themself in Vas, and create the prophecy regarding Mallymkun and Miseris. 

Time is seen more as a neutral character, caring about securing itself through the world, and keeping fate’s reign.

space is above itself, but fate decides the ultimate.

Happy OQ Valentine’s Day!

So, this may be a complete wreck but I’d like to draw your attention to a few things before you read you’re present ;) 1. Im pretty sure I gave away my identity already because... 2. I’m working off my iPhone (it’s sad but it’s true lol) and... 3. Mobile Tumblr just refusesss to make things easy on me. 4. And also, I waited to write this last minute like most other things in my life. But aside from all that, I do hope you find even a tiny bit of enjoyment in this. HOPIN’ AND WISHIN’ AND PRAYIN’ (An Outlaw Queen fic) The shadows blanket the road this far out. They stretch from the tops of the evergreen trees and cast most of the road in darkness. Except for tonight, there are a few bright beams filtering down from the full moon in the sky. The only sounds come from the crickets and wildlife beyond the pines and it’s a solitary, lonely kind of peaceful. She’s made a habit out of coming here; slipping out just after Henry’s gone to sleep and spending a precious few hours hoping. Hoping for what, she isn’t quite sure. Maybe for the resolute acceptance of how things have turned out. For her heart to stop aching and move on already. Sometimes even, she’s loathe to admit, she wishes for a freak accident that would take Marian away and right the universe again. But mostly, she hopes he’ll appear out of thin air, grinning how he does, as he steps back into Storybrooke and into her life. She knows it won’t happen, that he might as well be in another realm altogether. She understands why he’s gone, respects it even, but it doesn’t keep her from peering out down the road and wondering where on the other side he could be tonight. The pavement is cool beneath her thin slacks but she likes sitting at the very edge where she can pretend the red line in front of her crossed legs is the only barrier keeping them apart. As if the two of them sit apart, the protection spell a curtain that only need be pulled back and they’d be face to face. She lifts the flask next to her and the moon beams off its shiny surface as she indulges in another sip. She’s not drunk, but the alcohol numbs things just enough, blurs the edges so she doesn’t actually cry. And it would be all to easy to let herself embrace her emotions and sob in self pity. He was supposed to be her second chance; her redemption for the awful woman she’d been—and he was, for however brief a time. His integrity made her better. His morals brought her back to that seventeen year old girl she once was. Just “Regina”, not “Her Majesty” or “The Evil Queen”. He saw the real Regina under all those layers of guilt and anger and regret. And perhaps what makes her feel more despondent than anything is that she’ll never get a third chance. She got so unexpectedly lucky with Robin. She didn’t deserve him to begin with, but only he could have been her soulmate. Only he could understand every sordid detail of her past and still have the audacity to not only love her, but choose her. Regina runs a hand through the front of her dark hair as she sighs. She misses him. She misses having another person unconditionally in her corner, misses not always feeling like the third wheel, misses the smell of damp earth and aged redwood. She wants to scream to the heavens, or this “author”, or whatever higher power there might be that it’s so unfair! Only she knows damn well how fair her pain is; how cosmic and condemned her story has read. It’s her punishment for choosing revenge when she could have chosen forgiveness. Daniel’s death was the great catalyst of her life. And while she knows there are many who let their grief morph into hatred, there had been another way. It would have been harder, maybe taken longer, but she might have come out the other side a better person; a hero. She won’t make that mistake again. While it feels just as bad as it had years ago, even worse actually; she cannot tarnish what Robin stood for, just to try to ease the ache. If anyone was undeserving, it was that man. He had made mistakes the same as any of them, sure, but he worked for his redemption. Robin had found a way to do what she never could. He turned his pain into purpose. A purpose full of love and selflessness and renewal. And now he’s been hurt once more, entangled in the web of her retribution; collateral damage for the penance she was paying. He had not known just what loving the Evil Queen would cost him, even if she had truly made a change. Yet, he had opted to accept the shit hand he was dealt and if only it weren’t for her he wouldn’t be hurting because of it. He might even be overjoyed to have his late wife back; his family reunited. She prays for that as she slowly pushes herself to her feet now. She decides it’s the only thing she can do to wish him well, Marian too. If only she could have granted him a memory spell before he’d gone so he could forget about the wreckage she’d brought into his heart. Of course, her thief would never have taken the easy way out. And Regina can’t help but to hold on to the thought of him remembering her, remembering the true, sacred, magical connection they shared. She suddenly has to lift her fingers to her face to brush away an errant tear. She will not feel sorry for herself, at least not anymore tonight. Staring out down the still, vacant road out of Storybrooke, she sniffles and squares her shoulders to reign in her emotions and she hopes above all else that Robin finds the kind of happiness she knows he deserves. This chapter of her story is closing, and she needs to let the dust settle on the pages and find a way to move on. If her heart is going to take it’s time mending, then she must stop her late night visits. She has a son at home and new, delicate friendships, and a town that seems forever under threat, and a population of people who she owes debts so great she may never repay them. But she must try. She turns on her heel and heads back to her silver benz parked just off the shoulder, opens the door and gives one last, longing gaze down the vacant road. In her mind, the protected barrier shimmers and parts and her handsome thief appears, Roland at his side, tiny hand clutched in his. Regina abandons the door, unconsciously letting her feet carry her forward a few paces. She let’s her eyes slip closed and smiles wide with the image of them behind her lids. “Regina”, he says. And it’s not until she reopens her eyes that it occurs to her the tone of his voice had not been quite right. “Regina!” As if awaking from a dream, her focus snaps back to reality and he’s still in front of her, rushing towards her more accurately, his arms outstretched. The the next moment she can feel him against her chest, can smell his woodsy scent right under her nose. “Oh thank God, Regina!”, he nearly cries in relief and it’s all she can do to catch her brain up to what’s happening. Maybe she’d had more to drink than she thought? He pulls out of the embrace, but doesn’t completely withdraw his touch. He must have sensed her shock, perhaps too overwhelmed to see her to notice she didn’t hug back. “Regina?” Her eyes scan over his body, willing herself to believe it’s really him, but they land instead on the dimple faced child grinning up at her. “Gina! We come to visit you!”, his little voice hits her ears and she raises her eyes back to Robin’s anxious gaze. The acceptance breaks around her and she throws her arms around his neck, afraid he might disappear. “Robin!” It’s the only thing she manages to say while she’s this overcome with emotions. He holds her back, just as tight and whispers her name quietly against her head and she finally finds her voice. “Wha—why—what are you doing here?”, she breathes in disbelief. Her hand falls to Roland’s head below and caresses his locks to finally acknowledge him, but she needs to grasp her current reality before she makes a fool of herself. “It’s Zelena”, he tells her with a bit of disdain, “We’re all in danger. I had to come back to warn you all, to help fight” He glances down at his now frightened son and lifts him into his right hip for a soothing hug while Regina blinks in confusion. “What are you talking about? Where is Mari—“ “We can’t talk about it now”, he cuts her off urgently, gesturing with a discreet nod to the boy in his arms. “Listen, I promise I will explain everything later. But we don’t have a lot of time to gather the others and make a plan”. He slides a gentle hand down her arm as if to assure her it’ll be alright despite his ominous warning. Roland wiggles in his grasp and his father sets him on his feet a moment before he bounds off a yard or two and squats down to examine a rock on the pavement. “I’m just so happy to see you, Regina”, Robin cups her cheek in his chilled palm, “didn’t think I would again”. His words rush off his tongue before his lips are pressed to hers, desperate and needy, fueled by the current perils only he knows they face and his all consuming love for her. It is a reunion kiss that can only come from resolutely believing they’d be separated permanently. Regina responds with all the heart she can muster, their lips moving fluidly together as if the last few weeks had not eclipsed. When they finally break for air they are both grinning like fools, foreheads resting together as their breathing falls in sync, and she swears she suddenly feels whole again, as if her arm had been missing and has just now been returned. She lets the feeling wash over her, soaks it in selfishly for a minute because she knows how fleeting this absolute contentment is now. There are still a thousand questions running through her head, a dark cloud churning and billowing over their little town and every life in it, but with Robin’s hand in her own things feel possible. She tightens her grip and they start toward her car, ushering Roland away from his picture in the dirt as they go. They let their hands slip apart to round the car and Robin opens the back so Roland can hop inside excitedly, insisting that he’s mastered belting himself in. Once he’s safely buckled and shut in, Robin pulls his handle but catches Regina’s eyes over the hood. They both have a flurry of emotions hidden in their expressions, but one sticks out above them all and Regina knows this one to be the only true importance in the world. “I love you”, Robin declares, the lines around his eyes wrinkled from the joy on his face. Her chest swells with such happiness that her dark eyes moisten with tears and she doesn’t care that her voice cracks when she finally speaks the words herself. “I love you”. Fin

What makes you the most emotional about your muse?oh gosh, probably the amount of guilt he carries. you’ve all seen gifs of him like “looks like he could kill you but is actually a smol cinnamon roll” and thats what gets me. also he cries a shit ton and just cute broken boys crying is legit my kryptonite.02. What made you decide to write this muse?gosh i dont even remember, its been like four years. i think after the episode I am become death, because it was when i really started growing attached to him. he was still a sassy pants but you could tell he was trying. also the whole thing that happened with him and murphy, the hanging. also i think when clarke and him had that moment where he admits hes a monster. him crying there set a trigger off and i was like i need to write this angst of a man now.03. If you could change one event in your muse’s life (in their main or canon verse), what would you change?ooo… this is a good one. uhm, probably the whole pike situation. i know he kinda leaned on pike as a leader and was hurt by the betrayal of lexa and trikru but idk, it always seemed weird to me. but i dont think i’d change it, the show would be completely different i think if he didn’t go with pike. so /shrug/04. What do you think would break their heart the most?lol, go to question 08. i do really like putting him through angst and i think it just might be how fun it is to explore his mind during the process. there are many things that could break his heart. witnessing the death of any of his friends but the thing that would break his heart the most would be the death of his sister. it kinda reminds me of the hunger games where (spoilers?) the whole point of the first two books were to save her little sister and then in the end she dies anyways. i think the feeling not only of loss but of being useless, failing at saving her would break him. you get a glimpse of it in the show but yeah. my sister, my responsibility and i failed. 10. What do you love about your muse?pretty much everything. hes adorable, his personality, the odd times he makes jokes, the way he hugs people like it could be (and sometimes is) the last time. his freckles, the way he sniffs when he feels emotions. how hes not ashamed to cry (or just too emotional to care), how sassy he was in season 1, the amazing amount of character development he has. just endless things. he legit genuinely cares about everyone.11. Why or why not?i admire his ability to hold onto guilt. i think the most important part of his personality is tbh he actually forgives people really quickly or at least people he cares about. he forgave murphy, forgave clarke, etc (except kane lol forgot about that) but yeah. as for him i think he thinks his most important aspect would be his desire to always try to do the right thing, (after his selfishness in season 1). everything he does is either for his sister or for his people and even if it may be wrong morally he really wishes to believe what he’s doing is right.19. If you had to judge your muse and sentence them to a “fair” fate, what would your judgement be? Would you punish them? Reward them? How?honestly he’s suffered enough for his wrongs. the guilt he feels is punishment enough. the death of his friends around him, loved ones, his people, etc. obviously he deserves better than the fate he has in the show but i wouldn’t be able to just reward him when i say i think they should have a peaceful life on earth lol.
