As much as I still love Fizz, I don't like how Vizize has a habit of 'woobie-izng' her characters in order to make them sympathetic. A character can still be an asshole while the audience can still have sympathy for them, or at least understand that they're in a bad situation (Starscream from Transformers is one good example depending on who's writing him).

Taking away someone's bite/nerfing them and turning them into a sad boi isn't good writing, it's just lazy.

I decided to start rewatching the fairly oddparents and something that I'm surprised to see (aside from it still being pretty funny 😂😂) is that I remembered Wanda being more of the straight-man to Cosmo and Timmy, probably because of the flanderization and season rot, but she actually MATCHES their energy?? Most of the time she's participating in or actively encouraging their wacky behavior and I think that's beautiful! We need to go back to that

dear authors,

if you can't handle overly perfect characters, just don't write them from the start. you can't just give them a rushed and meaningless death because you don't know what to do with them...

gotchard is the first kamen rider I've seen since getting into rider where I haven't been extremely wary of/just not interested in it. I haven't ever seen a kamen rider live that right off the bat I really loved with all my heart...Saber was halfway done when I got into toku and I didn't really appreciate it and come to love it until after it aired. I didn't really enjoy much of Revice and Geats was like...kinda fun until it wasn't and also actively triggered some memories of bad times for me at the end. Gotchard has been finally a show I can watch and feel excited every week to see more of. It's nice because I was starting to wonder if there was smth wrong with me and I couldn't enjoy live kamen rider shows.

genuinely i think (one of) the biggest problems about the finale of fopanw is that nobody is willing to understand what dev is going through or gives him sympathy, and any sympathy that IS shown or anytime their thoughts are challenged, its undercut with jokes constantly. its so frustrating having the adults around him constantly being like yep you suck and if youre good its buried way deep i guess <3 as if he isnt like, a 10 year old being influence by an adult that is a criminal

its just so weird tonally because its like they want you to sympathize with dev and are absolutely aware hes a sad case, but still make jokes and put so much blame fully on him for his behavior as if every adult around him didnt fail him, INCLUDING peri

y'know, i keep making a habit of swinging my bat at hornets nests, but i have to say i'm getting so, so tired of people complaining about shows not making perfect sense when they aren't even close to done. we're four episodes into this season of doctor who. we're four episodes into this season of bridgerton. and yet in both fandoms i keep seeing people whine that such and such didn't make sense or it wasn't explained all the way and by god you guys i think maybe explanations might come later in the season. this is something most viewers will recognize as being called a 'plot.'
