so what i think of in relation to this are fics that have smut in them. Most dnf fics that have smut in them (not necessarily the whole point of the fic, but not exclusive of those types of fics either) and the roles (like top/bottom, dom/sub if they got that) have dream as a top and george as a bottom. we all know dream has a size kink (that I'd argue george has too) but it goes like, every way possible. He likes being bigger than George, he likes being smaller than other people, so on and so forth. However, in most fics, dream takes on the role of the "guy" - not literally, but in the type of actions he's likely to make like being more confident possessive etc. If george is having an issue, he fixes it. george tends to take on the role of the "girl" - more evasive, wants to be taken care of, has a fat ass, etc etc etc. While this is a part of their dynamic undeniably, it's not the only part of them. dream isn't "allowed" to be softer, george isn't "allowed" to focus and take care of dream. It's not like a blatant part and there's always room for change and whatnot, but in your typical dnf fic? that's what they do. george is something to want and dream chases him. george is sick or injured and dream has to take care of him.

I reiterate once again: im not saying this is what all dnf fics are like. I have plenty of favourites where this isn't the case or maybe it is but there's more of a sense that they're equals. but the ratio of them to the average dnf fic isn't exactly relatively even
