Borrow a little lamb
Cw: blasphemy, religious kink, profanity, smut, all that good stuff. Freelancer is referred to with gender neutral terms and is overall portrayed as gender neutral.
Tag list: @prince-damien-of-darkness @jamieeeeee33333 @angel-shaw
The freelancer sat on the confession booth, letting a sigh out as they undid the first buttons of their priest coat.
They had, for lack of a better word, escaped the man that had been eyeing them the entire mass. The entire week. That man, with gorgeous pink hair and bright eyes that could make a person of God like them crumble to their knees... No! No, they must resist the impure thoughts, no matter how much that heat between their legs aches and how cloudy their mind is.
The sound of a door opening close to them scared them, making them almost jump.
"Hey, it's okay, it's just me." They heard his voice. Sultry. Seductive. Like the smoke from the incense that they lit up every mass had become sound, slithering into their mind and corrupting their path.
"Ah, Gavin." They tried composing themselves, wiping the sweat off their brow.
Truly, their repressed sexual urges were torturous for the incubus, but fuck, the flood that would occur if he got to open the gates of their desire? Was worth the borderline agony. "Got any sins you wish to confess to me?" He joked, sitting down on what normally would be the priest's seat. "How long has it been since your last confession, Freelancer?"
The freelancer shot him a glare, even though he couldn't see them, or at least that's what they thought, as they sat down. He really shouldn't be impersonating a priest... but then again, they shouldn't even have these sinful thoughts at all.
"It's been a week since my last confession." They sighed, mere slivers of humour coating their words, letting their head drop down.
Gavin was definitely taken aback, he didn't expect for them to actually start confessing, but he wouldn't stop them, of course he wouldn't, curiosity and hope had settled on his chest.
"I- I have been having impure thoughts..." They whispered, shame welling up in their voice.
"Oh, dear." he feigned surprise, as if he couldn't feel their desire radiating off of them every time he caught their eye. "Well, as long as you haven't acted upon them..."
"But that's the thing... I want to. Gosh, I want to so badly."
The active effort that they took to not take God's name in vain was adorable and weirdly attractive to him. "And what are these impure thoughts you speak of?"
"Oh, um..." They hesitated, looking around, even though the church was empty, and taking a deep breath. "They've been... lustful thoughts about a certain man..."
"A man of God?"
"No, no."
"A devil?" He smirked, waiting for the 'yes'.
A 'yes' that never arrived.
"I don't think so... if anyone's the devil, it'd be me. He's just... a man. An attentive, kind, thoughtful man... I shouldn't be having these thoughts about him at all. This.... this corruption is of my own making."
Gavin was... speechless, to say the least. The determined way in which they defended and lauded him, taking on all the accountability of their sweet descent from holiness... fuck.
A person like them could make a demon crumble to their knees.
"Tell me about the thoughts." He did the best he could for his voice not to tremble, but his breath hitched and caught in his throat. "What- what exactly, are these sinful thoughts?"
"I- I had a dream... he would run his hands up my thighs, my sides, the back of my neck. He'd kiss me so passionately, my mind was completely clouded. He'd explore my body, his hands so warm they felt like hellfire.... a fire that I would've liked to burn in as long as it was in his hands..."
Gavin could feel himself getting closer to opening the gates, for that repression to finally give in. Even though he was a demon, he could still feel his heart ramming inside his ribcage like a wild animal trying to claw it's way out.
"Mh- mhm?" He encouraged them to keep going, feeling himself strain against his leather pants.
They themselves weren't too far back, a little push and they'd rip their clothes off knowing that the object of all their desires and fantasies was right there, right beside them, ready for the taking. "And then he'd touch me, right between my legs. Drinking my moans and whines in his kiss, touching parts of me I haven't even touched myself, showing me pleasure I didn't think was possible."
"And what did you do once you woke up?" He inquired.
"I... I felt guilty. I was dripping. And I... I touched myself to the thought of him, moaning his name with my face buried on the pillow."
Gavin took a sharp breath, and truly, he should've moved faster because before he could get up and get into the little space beside him, he heard the Freelancer apologising over and over.
He opened the door, looking down at them and interrupting their incessant begging for forgiveness.
They looked up, surprised to see the man, but somehow, the sight only made them all the more desperate. He looked like a god. Looking down at them with the lights of the candles and the sunset reflecting from the stained glass windows creating a halo-like effect, their clouded mind was overcome with the desire of worshipping him, a desire much stronger that they even had for worshipping God.
"God has had enough worshippers." He claimed, his voice echoing through the empty church. "I think I deserve one of my own, I'm sure He wouldn't mind if I... borrowed one of His." Gavin offered his hand to the freelancer, who hesitated.
"If you do not wish to be borrowed, I won't force you. Anything that happens from now on is your choice." He remarked, even though he could feel the waves of desire and need.
They took his hand.
"I'm sure He wouldn't mind... He is a kind and giving God..."
The gates were open.
He pulled them up, grabbing the back of their neck and their waist just like they described, kissing them passionately and making them moan and whimper in his mouth, drinking it all in. Finally, finally, he got his hands on the precious, stunning diamond he'd spotted the first day he entered this wretched building.
He separated abruptly, a trail of saliva connecting their mouths. Freelancer's pupils were blown out, their eyes filled with lust.
"What? What is it?" They asked, even with their mind cloudy, they worried they might've offended the man somehow.
"Come." He ordered, pulling them with him towards the altar.
"Oh. That's..." their heartbeat raced, and he could feel just how much warmer their skin got. He felt his own heat up, the fact that this was turning them on even further, and he could just feel it made him go feral.
He pulled them in front of him, making them sit on top of the altar, almost empty except for the white fabric covering it and some white candles. "Let me take care of you." He whispered against their lips, kissing down their jaw and neck, suckling on their collarbone and coaxing out more of those adorable whimpers and whines as he undressed them, leaving the priest get-up forgotten on the floor. They didn't need it anymore. They never did. They wouldn't ever again. They were his now.
"Yes, please, God." He finally got down on his knees, right to where they needed him most, kissing their thighs and slowly working his way up. "My God." They whispered, slowly stroking his head.
He looked up, just as devoted and lustful.
"Call me that again." He ordered.
"My God. God, you're my God." They would've kept on going if he didn't immediately put his mouth on them, kissing at first yet, very soon, losing all patience, sucking and sometimes even biting where their thighs and crotch met. His tongue was everywhere on them. They had never felt any sensation like this before, and it was like once, and for all, they discovered what heaven felt like without ever dying.
"Ah- oh fuck, oh shit, oh God, please, please, please, please, Gavin, fuck" They whimpered and groaned, gripping his hair and grinding up into his mouth. "Fuck, I'm sorry, I can't help moving, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Gavin stopped, his eyes fixated on theirs. He made them feel so vulnerable, even in a position like this, they wanted to squirm and hide away. He saw them, in a way no other person ever saw them.
"Keep on apologising, Freelancer, and I'll make sure they know my name up in heaven." He moved his hand up, using their fluids mixed with his spit to wet his fingers and circling their hole. "The entirety of Dahlia will know who is your new God." He slowly inserted a finger inside their throbbing need, making them throw their head back and whine. "You look so pretty like that." He cooed and praised.
"Ah- ah, please, God, I can't take it, please, i need you." They spread their legs even further, enticing him.
He kissed their thigh. "Shh, I know, I know, I just need to prepare you first, my love." He kissed up and slowly inserted another finger, doing scissors-like movements inside and using his mouth to distract them from the slight sting.
Soon enough, they were grinding down on his fingers and borderline crying out. "Please! Please, Gavin, I'm ready, I promise. Just fill me up, please, I need you to take me right here on the altar."
"Mhm?" Gavin looked down at their hole, seemingly satisfied. "I think that's enough preparing, don't you?" He asked as if he didn't know their answer, as if he didn't feel the desperation oozing off of them like their liquids, soaking his hand and mouth.
He stood up straight, kissing the Freelancer and undoing his leather pants while exploring their mouth with his tongue. The sound of the belt being undone made them twitch.
"Huh... interesting, we should try to explore that later. But in this moment..." he pressed himself against their heat. "I need you just as bad as you need me."
He slowly entered their body, groaning at their tightness and warmth. He wrapped his arms around them as they arched their back, wrapped their legs and arms around him, pulling him closer and deeper.
"Fuck. Fuck, Freelancer, you're really putting my self restraint to the test." He chuckled-groaned, getting drunk on their sexual energy. But it was more than that. It was their voice. Their scent. Their expressions. It all... made him feel some kind of way he had no words for.
"Please, just throw that self-restraint out of the window, I want you, don't hold back, Gavin." They whispered/moaned in his ear, and like their wishes were his orders, any self-control left was thrown away as he buried himself to the hilt.
Freelancer threw their head back, letting out a gasp and gripping Gavin close like their life depended on it. It felt... awesome. Like nothing they've ever felt before. Worshipping God couldn't ever compare. Such action never gave them the euphoria they were experiencing in this moment. They believed they could touch heaven, and couldn't they? It was in their hands, right now, wrapping it's arms around them and whispering praise and reassurance in their ear.
"It's okay, my love, I got you, you're okay." He cooed and rubbed their back gently.
"Gavin, fuck, move. Please, please, just move." He separated, just a bit, just enough to press his forehead against theirs and look at them in the eyes. "Please... make love to me. Make me yours." They whispered.
The demon felt like something inside him broke. Maybe it was the little self-control he held on to keep himself from being too rough, but right now, that didn't matter. The gorgeous, capturing creature in front of him was desperate for him, and how could he deny them? It was what he was made for, after all.
He gently placed a hand on their chest, making them lay their back down on the table as he started moving. Their legs were still wrapped around him, but they were almost reassuring to him, like they just wanted to be closer, closer, and closer.
He fucked them like his life depended on it, and technically it did, but not exactly, giving that he was well-fed and this was supposed to be more of a fun side quest, but truly, he messed up. Messed up by falling for the Freelancer, falling for their smile, falling for their kind words and inviting energy, falling for their humour and ability to keep up with him, even as he teased them, they could match his banter effortlessly.
"Ah, Gavin, yes, keep going. Please, faster, harder, deeper, I need more, i need you." They moaned, one hand lifting up just enough to touch his stomach.
He smirked, an idea popping up in his head. "I got you." He lifted their legs up, pressing them against their chest and thrusting even faster. Like this, he could go deeper, hitting exactly that sweet spot that they needed.
Their eyes rolled back, feeling like they could see heaven, and it was nothing but pure, blissful white. Their hand fell and gripped the white cloth under them so hard they could tear it apart, but that didn't matter to them in that moment, all that mattered was the mind-numbing pleasure the man over them was providing.
"Ah, ah, fuck, Gavin, please, I'm gonna- I'm close, please." They looked up at him, their eyes watery and filled with lust.
He groaned, feeling them tighten down on him and making him see stars. This was what he was made for. And for the first time, he was happy to be made for this. For the first time... he didn’t wonder about the what if's, about how different it could be if he was made for anything else. For the first time, it was right. "Go ahead, do it. I want you- no, no, I need you to cum for me. Here..." He brought his hand down, using it to get them where he wanted to. He leaned down, his lips right to their ear as he whispered. "I want to taste your rapture."
They threw their head back, and with a barely audible, high-pitched moan, they climaxed. It could never compare to what they felt when masturbating with their head buried in their pillow. This was like death, not a cold, uncaring death, but the arms of death itself wrapping around their soul - their essence, what used to be - leaving room for rebirth. Leaving room for new, for better. Leaving room for freedom.
Gavin followed soon after, kissing them as he spilled inside, leaving all that he thought he was meant to be behind, all that he thought he could be. Losing himself in them and in this feeling, this flavour. A flavour he had never experienced before, exploding in his very being like the best dishes would in a human's mouth. Their pleasure mixing with his essence and becoming one, if for just a second.
They separated, panting and sweating. Gavin slowly pulled out, gaining a small whine. His seed spilt down, landing on the white cloth.
"Shh, it's okay, you're alright." He comforted, stroking their hair. They just let out some more sounds and mumbles as they wrapped their arms around him, sitting up and leaning against him.
"Please... please, hold me, " They whispered against his ear, and how could he ever refuse?
He couldn't.
He never could.
He'd give them whatever they wanted, whatever they asked for.
"I'm here, my love. I got you." He held them close, running his hands up and down their back.
They hid their face on the crook of his neck, whispering against his skin. "That was lovely."
He chuckled softly, kissing the top of their head. "You liked that? You liked falling from grace, little angel?" He smugly asked.
"I did, I liked... I liked falling for you." They leaned back, looking into his eyes. "I think I still am... falling for you, Gav."
He smiled, stroking their cheek. "So am I, love."

New Yorker Gavin/Cat Burglar Nines Snippet!
(more under the cut!)
Gavin walks into the MOMA. Connor fielded the call first. They’d had just enough time to get coffee and some new safe-for-androids thirifee—what a fucking stupid name—for Connor when the call came in. The excitement when Connor’s eyes rounded—Gavin didn’t even need Connor to say a damn thing. Do you burn as I do?
Gavin walks into the large oblong room, coffee still in hand. He looks about the other paintings left behind. Picasso with his cubism and biting edges. The vivid coloration. The simplicity of human anatomy. Of life and existence. All brought into something blended between surreal and simple. It makes Gavin’s head spin. He’s never been one for art-art—but maybe Nines is into it. Nines did sleepily admit he likes to paint last night. Gavin thinks of that—Nines with a paint brush. A little schmear of color at his face where he’d accidently wiped at it. Turning and waiting for Gavin to let him know if he’s done a good job.
But the beautiful dream is sucked away when Gavin sees the thank you card with the black little kitten on its cover. His heart speeds up. Fingers trembling as he puts on gloves before removing the tape from its edges. The breath he lets out… His whole body a cascade of pins and needles. That perfect CyberLife Sans font.
Hello Detective. Do you remember when we first met? I in a condo high atop New York City. You with excited shaky fingers, tightly gripping a gun. It was the moment I learned of your passion for me. I saw your eyes. Do those eyes still hunger for my face? Know that I see you, as naked as the women I stole.
“What art got stolen?” Gavin asks Connor as he looks down at the card. He holds it in both of his hands, fingertips just barely cradling it. Like it would burn up and fade away to ash if he’s too rough with it.
Connor lets him know of the two art pieces. The card makes more sense now. Or rather—Gavin understands that the pieces were just naked women and the burglar is taunting him about seeing him naked too. But is it literal? Or a term of art?
“He’s fuckin’ with me,” Gavin says. The heat in the pit of Gavin’s belly though—that’s something he doesn’t know what to do with. He wants to play too. “Know that I see you, as naked as the women I stole.”
“He’s trying to scare you, obviously.” Connor sounds almost annoyed that he even needs to say it. “This is all a game to him. He knows your name from the press release. He’s trying to act like he knows you. It’s just a game.”
“I know it’s a game, Connor,” Gavin bites back. He still looks down at that perfect font—transfixed. Feeling some kind of way about how badly he wants to play too. “When criminals get cocky—they start makin’ mistakes, kay? So we’re gonna let him make his mistakes and then we’ll catch the bastard.”
“He’s still a highly efficient android. There’s no way he could be a PL600 or any of the other domestic models. I’d even have trouble believing he were any escort model either.”
Gavin frowns. “Isn’t that kind of descriptor—racist?”
“I’m an android.”
“So?”
Connor rolls his eyes. “He’s gotta be military. Some kind of specialist. Maybe a custom model. With CyberLife holding all our patents ransom right now—theres no legal stream for mods—but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Could be something off the black market. Maybe we look into that. See whose been getting any upgrades recently?”
Gavin frowns. “Wait—what do you mean there’s no legal stream for mods?”
“I don’t know how I can make that sentence clearer, Detective.” Connor only blinks at him.
Gavin thinks about Nines and his fully modified digestive system. If there’s no legal stream for such a thing—then how did he get it? “Does Nines know something about the black market?”
Connor’s eyes widen. “His digestive system modifications!”
Gavin—doesn’t like this. Involving his—maybe boyfriend? But knowing what’s out on the market may help them narrow down the model of the android. Anything’s a clue. Gavin will search the rest of the room. Talk to the poor guard who got knocked the fuck out with some kind of tranquilizer, and then he’ll just causally bring this up over dinner tonight or something awful.
“Hey Connor—wanna come over and have dinner at my place? Or I mean—sit there and look entirely too uncomfortable at my place so we can talk to Nines about this shit?”
Connor rolls his eyes. “I’ll bring some thirium. You ass.”
Gavin winks at him—little click of his tongue as he does it. “You hate that I’m dating your brother, don’t you?” Gavin follows Connor out of the long display room.
“It’s—certainly not what I expected after my understanding was that he rejected you. But then I saw him ask you out so.”
“See! That’s what I fuckin’ said to him too! He keeps sayin’ I’m the one who asked him out a third time!” Elation balloons in Gavin’s sternum. He wants to text Nines right now and say something stupid like na-na-na-na-boo-boo-I-told-you-so! But he’ll refrain, as he’s a thirty-six-year-old grown ass adult.
“We need to transfer that note for the chain of possession,” Connor says—bringing them back to work instead of the weirdest circumstance Gavin’s ever found himself in. He’s dating Connor’s brother. Connor’s brother. Fucking weird shit, man.
Gavin nods, pressing his tongue to the inside of his mouth. He feels he should be more—upset about this whole thing. But he’s relaxed. His fingers void of tremors. His heart perfectly content in his chest. There’s a burglar out there taunting Gavin and the only thing he can really think is good, when will you do more?

Hades Voice Actor Logan Cunningham On Finding His Voice, Favorite Performances, And The Characters That Influenced Him

Hades Voice Actor Logan Cunningham On Finding His Voice, Favorite Performances, And The Characters That Influenced Him
During our trip to Supergiant Games for our Hades II cover story, we had a chance to speak with one of the studio’s original seven employees and its principal voice actor, Logan Cunningham. From providing the voice of Rucks in Bastion to Red’s titular Transistor to Hades himself, Cunningham has played a vital part of every Supergiant title. In this rare interview, we ask Logan how he entered the world of voice acting, how he joined Supergiant Games, and which characters are his favorites to play (and which he’d want to redo).
Game Informer: When did you first discover that you were good at creating or imitating voices?
Logan Cunningham: I don’t think there was ever a moment that I discovered that. I always did that. From when I was a kid, my brother and I, we would record stupid little… almost like our own little radio plays but based on Star Trek: The Next Generation, just with a cassette recorder. I don’t know; maybe it started there. The first time I think I realized I had a voice that people consider to be nice was in elementary school because my English teachers would always ask me to read from whatever book we were studying at the time. But I never set out to be a voice actor. [I] certainly [had] no formal training. There’s not really any formal training for voice acting that I think exists. Everybody falls backward into it, just like I did. From my understanding, from my experience with everyone, every voice actor that I meet, I ask them like, ‘Oh, how did you start?’ and it’s always the same story. ‘I did one, then I did another, a third one, and now 15 years later here I am’. And my case is a little different in that the way I got my first job was from knowing one of the people who started Supergiant Games and then also knowing [Supergiant composer] Darren Korb.
Did you have any go-to characters you liked to imitate? Or was there a character you concocted that became your primary voice?
I was pretty much weaned on Star Trek: The Next Generation, so I think even at, like, six I had a pretty good Patrick Stewart. But not really. I didn’t really focus on anybody in particular. If I encountered a voice that I liked, I would just sort of do it – not for anyone, just for me. Just on my own in the bathtub, which I still do.
The most sacred places to practice: the shower, the bathtub.
It’s where you’re at your most vulnerable.
Yes, quite literally. When you first made your big leap into doing voice acting, as you mentioned, coming on with Supergiant, what was that initial conversation like?
It was literally my friend Amir [Rao], who I knew had left his job at Electronic Arts with his friend Gavin Simon, and they moved from LA back to San Jose, which is where we’re all from, Amir, me, and Darren, into his dad’s house and they started a startup; which was a game developer, which I don’t even think I knew that term at the time. All I knew was a friend of mine was making a video game. And they had gotten to the point where they wanted to try something with voice-over, and so now they needed an actor, and I was the actor that they happened to know personally. And they had no money, and so I was cheap. And I was roommates with Darren in New York at the time, who was already involved. He came on board maybe, like, December ’09? And then I recorded the first lines of Bastion [in] February; yeah it was Presidents Day weekend 2010. Yes, it really did just start with me doing a friend of favor.
When you look back on your first big role as a voice actor with Bastion, how did you feel about that performance at the time? And how do you feel about it now that you’ve had a chance to reflect on it over a decade later?
I was just trying to get through it. I had no idea what I was doing. None of us did. Darren and I certainly, that was our first time working on a video game in any capacity, but I just approached it as an actor. I just tried to keep the character consistent and give it as much life as I could. I had a lot of help from Greg [Kasavin] writing an amazing character and amazing story. Once we were working on Transistor, the Transistor performance is pretty much just me, but just kind of at a whisper. And with Rucks in Bastion, the narrator, what made a good take during those sessions was if the voice was right. And then in Transistor, what made a good take was if the performance was right.
Hades
To jump ahead to Hades II, what new characters do you provide the voice for in the game?
I’m not going to say. I’ll let people guess and figure it out. Hades, I can confirm because he’s in the trailer.
How did it feel when you first heard Supergiant was doing its first sequel? How did it feel to be returning to a world for the first time instead of preparing for a whole new one?
Really happy and I wasn’t surprised at all. At all. Because we loved making that game so much. It was so clear, to me anyway, that we weren’t done with it. There was so much still left to do and explore and characters to meet and stories to tell. So I was thrilled.
I was excited, too, especially because I really enjoyed your work as Hades in the first game. Can you talk about the process of preparing for that role, what that looked like, and what you felt you needed to bring to that role to bring that character to life?
Just imagining not the worst dad possible, but a very difficult one who’s just a workaholic, is constantly busy and never has time for you, is really powerful, and has a really important job. And because of it, [he’s] miserable most, if not all, the time but is also still kind of a person and has a past and regrets and all those things that make a character interesting. But yeah, coming up with the voice was a lot of fun because it is basically just Tywin Lannister and Tim Curry as the Lord of Darkness in Legend, if you’ve ever seen that movie. So yeah, getting to play around with that.
The Voice of Supergiant Games
Here are all of the characters Logan Cunningham has voiced in Supegiant’s first four games.
Bastion – Rucks
Transistor – The Transistor
Pyre – The Voice, Bertrude, Dalbert, Lendel, Ignarius
Hades – Hades, Poseidon, Achilles, Charon, Asterius, The Storyteller
Of all the characters you’ve voiced in your games, do you have any ones that stand out as your favorite or most cherished characters? Do you feel particularly close to them the way some actors do about a role or character that they’ve played?
Favorite is probably a tie between Rucks and Hades. Rucks because he was the first and my introduction to Supergiant; my foot in the door, if you like. Hades, because he was so much fun to do. It’s really fun to play someone who’s just, like, a bastard. He’s just like a s****y person. But what often comes to mind is the Transistor, actually. Like, if I have the opportunity to sort of do that one over, I might. Or I will at least heavily think about it. My kind of immediate reaction once I played the thing from start to finish was like, ‘Okay.’ I wasn’t quite sure I was playing that guy. I felt I was maybe playing somebody else.
Now that you’ve been doing this for so long, and you mentioned before not being formally trained, what were some of the on-the-job training lessons you’ve learned over the years to improve as a voice actor?
All kinds of vocal warm-ups. Whereas at the start, it might take me a couple of hours to get ready. Now I am pretty much good to go in 20 minutes to half an hour. I know how much time I need to spend with the script if I’m lucky enough to have the time to see the lines beforehand because very often, it’s just ‘Hey, who are we doing today? Achilles? Great, all right’. And it’s mostly in the recording session itself, I’ll get a chance to read the line, whatever the next line is that we have to do, I’ll get to read through it once or twice and then I just have to go for it. So, I guess I’ve gotten more efficient. But I think everyone at Supergiant, certainly all of us who worked on Bastion and we’re all still there, we’ve all gotten more professionalized, I guess.
I always wonder about this with voice actors because I find myself doing this. You mentioned before it’s fun to sort of do a voice when you’re alone, you’re around the house just doing a voice; do you ever find yourself doing that with any of the characters you’ve played in the past? Do you ever just go around the house and start talking as Hades randomly since you mentioned how much fun it is to occupy that role? Or do you sort of retire them once the project is over?
I don’t really, but I will find myself doing, randomly at times, voices that inspired some of those characters. I still love just walking around my place just doing lines from Deadwood as Al Swearengen, which was a huge influence on Rucks. At the very least, it’s a nice vocal exercise. But it’s just kind of one of those silly, crazy things that actors do, and one of the reasons it’s good that I live alone.
Bastion
What advice would you give to someone who is interested in pursuing voice acting or to aspiring/young voice actors who want to improve?
Make sure you’re an actor, that you know how to act. Because it’s not just doing funny voices. I think it used to be that way years and years ago. It’s not anymore. Keep working, keep improving. Take classes, take every opportunity you have. If you know people who are making things, work with them. If you know a decent amount of those people who are making stuff, one of them might make it and remember you and take you along. That is absolutely what happened to me.
How would you compare your experience working on Hades II to previous games? Has this felt the most challenging or the most exciting? How do you feel about what is being asked of you for this game compared to what you’ve done before?
Not necessarily more challenge. It’s just different. What I will confirm, and I think this has been confirmed maybe in other places, there are a number of returning characters that I did in Hades in Hades II in addition to some new ones, which are the ones that I can’t talk about. So there might be a character of mine from the first one where Melinoë, the protagonist, might mention, ‘blah, blah, blah’ to ‘blah blah blah’ and that’ll inform the performance. There is a kind of melancholy that I’ve certainly felt with a lot of the characters that I’ve been doing in the sequel compared to the original, Hades 1, which hopefully adds interesting layers. I don’t know, we’ll see. We’re still working on it.
Is there a character you’ve played from the Supergiant Games that you most identify with on a personal level?
Is it weird to say Charon?
Why is that?
He’s someone who doesn’t say words and generally would like to be left alone, I think [laughs]. I can imagine running a store just like, ‘Ah, get what you want, get out.’ I identify with that.
Transistor
What is the thing that you’re most proud of with Hades II, both in regards to what you’re bringing to it as an actor and what the game is doing to build upon the first game? What are you most excited about for players to experience?
I won’t be able to speak to my own work on it until it’s done. All I know is just I’m working on it, I’m doing it. Darren, who’s my director, is happy with what I’m doing. I seem to be delivering what he’s asking. Greg seems to be satisfied as well. It’s feeling good. It’s sounding good to me. I’m just happy that [Hades II] is happening, that it exists, and that it is already as good as it is. And that people are beginning to discover that on a larger scale.
Hades was such a massive success for the studio. As someone who was there from the humble beginnings, how have you personally internalized Hades’ overwhelming success?
I get recognized occasionally on the street for Hades, which is very strange. And that’s largely I think due to the NoClip stuff that we did. In support of Hades once 1.0 came out, we did some videos for Twitter, for YouTube, and, obviously, through NoClip, quite a few of our faces got out there in a way that they hadn’t before. Pre-Hades, the sort of public faces of Supergiant, the recognizable faces, were basically Greg and Amir. And Darren, on occasion. But now it’s me at the bar that I go to all the time, and some, like, 23-year-old kid coming up to me like, ‘Sir, are you are you…? And I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, I am’. And it blows his mind, and in my head, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m him. Somebody’s got to be. It’s me, yes. Thank you for playing, nice to meet you, good to see you.’ So that’s been an alteration or an accommodation I’ve had to make my life since release. Obviously, winning the BAFTA was huge. I was much more excited for all the other people who won BAFTAs. Greg and Jen [Zee] in particular, who I feel have gone unrecognized for their amazing work for far too long.
How has it felt seeing Supergiant’s growth from what it was in the beginning to where it is now?
We just have more resources now. Certainly, from my perspective, from my role there, I’m privy to this; we have access to a much higher, I don’t know if caliber is the right word, but we are able to at least get in contact with and have conversations with and possibly even cast actors that we wouldn’t have been able to get 100 feet in front of, or even 100 miles, even five years ago. And now, that seems to be something within our reach and is within reach, and I’m excited for people to discover that as well.
But at its heart, we’re the same. We’re the same people. Amir and Darren and me, we still make each other laugh with the same jokes that we made each other laugh at when we were 17 or whatever. We still share, whenever we do get together, horror stories, war stories from making Bastion. From Transistor, how terrified we all were making that one. The kind of wild child that is Pyre and how we didn’t learn really how to describe that game until it was out. But we’re kind of like a shark: we don’t really stop. We don’t take too many breaks. We just move on. We finish something once we’re happy with it, and then we let it out.
We’re in a better place now than we were. Hades was our first experience with our Early Access, and that worked out really well for us. And we’re doing the same with this one. We were pretty still early on with Hades, and we knew that Early Access was something we were going to do, I remember talking to Amir about it and him just saying ‘Yeah, this is the game we’ve made so far that I’m least worried about’. Because of Early Access, anything that’s wrong with the game, we’ll just fix it before we ship it. So we’re not gonna have to wait three years until we ship a completed thing to figure out if people like it or not. Or even know what it is or how to describe it.
Hades II is available now in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Be sure to visit our cover story hub for more exclusive features and videos about the game.

Let’s talk about Boo Bitch
Disclaimer: SPOILERS AHEAD
Some parts were enjoyable but some parts were very cringey to me. After watching it I also felt like the negatives outweighed the positives. So here are the negatives.
1) I didn’t like how they portrayed high school as all all or nothing experience. You could either have a bad or a good experience and you could only have a good experience when you are popular and attend all the parties, which is complete bullshit. The best thing you could do in high school is to spend it with amazing people who love you for who you are and Erika had that from the very beginning. (I’ll come back to this point after I talk about the ending)
2) Erika Vu is the most unlikeable character in her own show for so many reasons.
a) She took her best friend, her ride or die, Gia for granted until the very end. She was horrible to her even after Gia revealed to her that she was the one that actually died and Erika only tried to make it up to her when she lost everything else and when she realized that Gia barely had any time left. Which makes her an asshole. Bonus asshole points for when she literally did not care when Gia told her that she was dead and for only caring about herself.
b) She harassed Devon way too much.
c) She was an asshole to her boyfriend, insulted him numerous times, gaslit him and never listened to him.
3) The way Erika’s transition from good person to asshole was too jarring and we still don’t understand the thought process behind this. Was she having an existential crisis over her death and so she wanted to try to make the most of the time she has left by emulating Riley (who she thinks has it all)? That wouldn’t work because Erika still remained the same after Gia revealed the truth. Maybe she was still in denial after hearing the truth? But that was never shown.
4)Jake was done so dirty. He hopped from one toxic relationship to another because he was scared of being alone and when he finally realized that and broke up with Erika, I was happy because you don’t see that type of character development in a lot of shows, especially not from the popular guy love interest. But then they had to ruin it by making him go to prom with Riley and then get back together with Erika. What??? So all that development in the episode prior didn’t matter.
5) The plot twist and the ending. I love a good plot twist but this one ruined the story in my opinion and if you knew that there was a plot twist that would be the first thing you think of. I thought this story was about Erika coming to terms with her death and making the most of her time left, so of course she was going to have complicated emotions and act out (which she did) but the end result should have been her realizing that this was bullshit and to find peace with who she is and then ascend, that would have been cathartic to watch as Erika’s arc in my opinion represents the typical Tragic Hero arc that is widely used in literature. Instead we get everyone instantly forgiving Erika and Erika partying with her classmates, her former bully and her ex who she treated like shit.
6) Gia and Gavin were done so dirty. Gia was the most selfless character on the show and she was taken for granted and ignored by almost everyone (except Gavin) and her best friend only started caring about her death in the last minute and Gavin lost someone he had a connection with. Honestly, they both got the short end of the stick.
All in all, the show could have been enjoyable but the last 3 episodes ruined it.

Hello, Moth! Congratulations on 100 subscribers!
I was thinking really hard on which fic to send you for the break down, but then it hit me - I'm sending you "Poly Party" by (the one and only) Domini Moonbeam (or maybe if it's too much, then specifically the second chapter of it).
It's one of the first fics I've read in this fandom, the first fic I left a comment on (I made an AO3 account partially specifically to do that) and interacted with someone in the fandom about and it's just generally a great fanfic and holds a special place in my heart. :)
Congratulations again, you deserve all those subscribers and so much more!
(a/n: thank you so much Teddy! You were one of the first people I ever interacted with in this community and I'm eternally grateful for it <3) Name of Fic: Poly Party Name of Author: domini_moonbeam (@dominimoonbeam) Reviewing Chapter(s): 2 of (?) Personal Favorite Chapter(s): 3 of (?) Times Visited: 22 times :D Kudos: Absolutely :D Review: I really do enjoy this fic, and it's one of the ones I do go back to to get to my favorite parts that I know I've talked to Arsenal about countless times and I'll go over them in the favorite scene section. I'll be very honest, I'm not a particularly huge fan of the DAMN poly if it only ever leaves out Lasko which seems to be the most common route if its not just Fl/Gavin/Lasko or Fl/Gavin/Lasko/Damien/Hux. I don't like seeing my favorite boy left out (yet he is still mentioned as having vague relationship with Gavin outside of the polycule) but this fic is so good I really don't mind that he's not there in the forefront lol. I can't wait to see where this fic goes especially in terms of Damien's self consciousness about his fire and Huxley's ability to put trust in them all to communicate like partners - not just FWB Favorite Quote: “What? Ah, nah, I’m not a bouncer. I’m just…me.” Favorite Scene: I have two.
Gavin fought the impulse to frown and snap back. There was something defensive inside him when it came to certain topics, like his deviant, his feelings, and his Lasko. “What I do with Lasko is our business.” They had become friends and Gavin did not make friends easily. He might act like he didn’t give a shit most of the time, but he would sooner cut off a finger than betray one of Lasko’s confidences.
and
Gavin would have laughed if this wasn’t so important. “Fucking trust me for a second.” He still had Damien’s jaw in hand, holding his face up to him. He pressed his other hand against Damien’s chest, over his heart, over the spot where he was trying to hide his heat. Damien hissed and strained, Gavin’s touch probably feeling like ice even through his t-shirt. Gavin rolled his hips forward so that Damien would feel his hard on through his jeans, pressed against his stomach. It made the fire elemental gasp and that heat ratchet up. It was still so ridiculously far from being a problem—from being dangerous to anyone in contact with him—but it was obviously enough to have Damien scared of risking it. And it was just enough that Gavin could connect with it, redirecting it and dispersing it in the room.
Damien grabbed hold of him then, startled, hands on Gavin’s arms as if to push him away—only he never did. He stared up at him. “Wh-What…How?” ... "I'm magic bitch"
Overall Rating: 10/10 - Very very amazing examples of trust and communication whilst also still feeling very canon to the characters in their growth and their arcs.
Spicy Rating: 10/10
Comments: christ domini u know how to write kissing scenes very well and very descriptively in a way that doesn't make them feel forced or too quickly paced (unless that's what you're going for like in the end of chapter 2 - "My horny brain can spell. All my brains can spell.")

Heya Cheri! What are your thoughts after reading Gavin's mind quest: a deep sleep with moonlight ? Thanks for your hard work on your translations and have a nice day :D
It was a ROLLERCOASTER 🎢.
🍒 Spoilers from MQ: A Deep Sleep with Moonlight under the cut 🍒
1. I thought they were going to break up
There were so many alarm bells ringing in my head while I was doing the translation because I’d seen similar things happening in fanfics LOL. Fortunately, the writers didn’t go down the path I expected them to, but here are some reasons why I thought so:
[ Alarm Bell 1: MC’s annoyance towards the situation ]
Instance 1 -
Staring at my leg cast, I begin to sincerely hate the main culprit of this disaster.
Instance 2 -
From the glass window, I can vaguely spot Gavin’s shadow while he sits and leans against the wall, and I repeatedly curse the one who started this whole thing.
I don’t recall seeing strong terms like “hate” and “curse” used by MC before, so I imagined that her irritation would eventually reach a boiling point, and that she’d lash out at Gavin to give her some space 😂
-
[ Alarm Bell 2: They weren’t frank with each other ]
Instance 1 - MC hid how she was facing repeated acts of harassment
Actually, I’ve been constantly harassed by someone recently.
Instance 2 - MC hid her injuries from him
Minor: Boss didn’t let me tell you, so don’t betray me later.
Gavin: She didn’t let you tell me?
Instance 2 - MC hid how badly shaken up she was by the harassment
For a moment, my mind feels a little empty, and the emotions I’ve been stifling secretly make an appearance.
Instance 3 - Really?
MC: Gavin, I think you’re a little dangerous.
Gavin: How so?
MC: You understand me a little too well. It makes me feel like I have no secrets in front of you.
Hearing this, Gavin’s lips hook upwards.
Gavin: That’s okay. I can be completely frank with you too.
Gavin didn’t tell MC where he was slipping off to at odd hours, nor how much danger the both of them were in 24/7.
I can’t but wonder - if MC and Gavin weren’t chased by an Evol criminal while returning from the dark room, would Gavin have continued staying mum about the situation?
I understand that both parties had good intentions of not worrying each other when keeping these things to themselves. But knowing that they were concealing things while at the same time claiming to have “no secrets” and how they could be “completely frank” with each other made me worry about a potential sense of betrayal :’)
-
[ Alarm Bell 3: This sad bgm during the car scene ]
The air is tranquil and quiet. As compared to how he had handled the earlier issue with ease, Gavin seems to be slightly nervous.
He rubs the steering wheel a little restlessly. His brows are furrowed, and he purses his lips in silence.
Gavin: Are you afraid?
His question is a little hesitant. He doesn’t turn his head, and simply stares at the pitch dark road in front of him.
DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE A SCENE RIGHT BEFORE A BREAK UP HAPPENS LOL I was sweating bullets when translating this scene.
2. The date evidenced Gavin’s growth in confidence
There are an insane number of references to past dates/asmrs in this Mind’s Quest (I counted 14 but there may be more). One particular reference warmed my soul because it evidences Gavin’s growth in confidence when it comes to protecting MC.
Let’s start from the very beginning:
[ Gavin’s R&S - Folded Time ]
Now that the girl’s Evol had begun to awaken, the peace around her may be shattered at any moment. By then, the distance he had maintained for such a long time would no longer be enough to protect her.
From this, we learn that he would have stayed away from MC forever if she didn’t have Evol, likely not wanting to drag her into the messy world of Evol and Evol criminals.
[ Late Autumn Date ]
Gavin: …we did miss out on a lot. Back then, I wasn’t certain if I could have you for life.
I look straight into his bright eyes, and laugh quietly.
MC: And are you very certain now?
Gavin: Mm.
Here, he is much more confident about keeping MC by his side and protecting her.
[ Mind’s Quest ]
Gavin: They think I can’t protect you, but I can. Aside from protecting you, I also want us to be together openly and confidently. To do the things we want to do, and to lead a life happier than anyone else.
The Mind’s Quest goes multiple steps further - he isn’t simply going to protect her. He will protect everything the both of them want to do, and become the happiest people in the world.
3. Delectable Teasing from Gavin
Instance 1 -
He places me back onto the chair. Rolling up his sleeves slightly to reveal his solid arms, he smiles at me while supporting his hands on the table.
Gavin: I’ll let you look at me like this, okay?
Instance 2 -
The lipstick seems to have been applied crookedly again. He brings his lips forward, rubbing mine unhurriedly, just as his fingertips did before.
His movements are unusually sluggish. His eyes are fixed on me, making me unable to leave his line of sight.
Gavin: I applied it crookedly. Sorry about that.
Gavin says this unapologetically. His soft chuckle lands on my lips, causing me to tremble.
He backs away slightly, continuing to focus on applying the lipstick. However, his gaze remains locked on my eyes.
Every single “accidental” smear of the lipstick is followed by a teasing and rousing rub.
G A V I N WHERE DID YOU LEARN THESE THINGS??
In short, I’m really happy at how comfortable they are with each other, and how they have cemented their relationship as one which is unbreakable no matter what life throws their way 🥺

Ahh okay I have actually thought about this extensively, because it’s a super interesting question and it doesn’t just depend on one thing. I mean, look at Alistair and Briony, who are unbelievably good at spellcasting but abysmal at crafting spells of their own. Look at Isobel, who’s extremely talented at both, and look at Elionor, who’s treated like a weak link but is second only to Isobel at crafting and seems to win 90% of the fights she’s in. Look at Gavin and Finley, who use physicality in a way that the others don’t when fighting.
There’s a lot to consider. So, taking it all as a whole (and pretending that Gavin doesn’t have his fucked up life magick thing), this is what I came up with:
Isobel. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Isobel absolutely would have been the victor if they’d all been playing to win. She’s amazing at spellcrafting and a very good caster as well. She’s clever and strong and stops at nothing to survive, which is a skill in itself. I hate her father, but his motto has really gotten into her head: she is a survivor. And she certainly acts like it.
Alistair. Probably going against the consensus by not putting him at #1, but raw casting ability isn’t everything. He’s not good at spellcrafting or strategy outside of burning the world down to save Hendry. That being said, he is insanely good at casting. This boy just casually casts the highest-class curses like it’s nothing.
Elionor. I know this isn't what I'm supposed to take away from AoUV, but for fuck's sake, why does everyone keep underestimating her? She's a very talented crafter and her casting stamina seems to be through the roof. Beyond that, she's one of the most clever champions, something I want to talk about more in a post later. But seriously, if Alistair Lowe thinks you make a perfect villain in a death tournament, that means something.
Briony. The Overcharge incident is proof that she's a terrible spellcrafter, and she works terribly with others in an alliance. That being said, she has zero scruples about completely ruining everything (sometimes intentionally, sometimes not) to get what she wants. Plus: I could've handled three. Then, later: I'll do five next time. Need I say more?
Finley. He's a strong spellcaster and a good leader, plus he has the Sword and knows how to use it well. We never actually see him craft anything, so we don't know how he is with that, but he seems decently skilled at everything. The only hang-up is how his constant confusion dulls the application of those skills. For the majority of the duology, Finley has no idea what he wants, and he's wrestling with internal conflicts instead of using raw power.
Gavin. Listen, if I'm ignoring the life magick thing, I have to be honest. He's extremely driven—he will 100% resort to kidnapping, extortion, and torture in order to win—but aside from that, he isn't very magickally powerful. He uses maybe five different enchantments to varying degrees of effectiveness. He's quite strong with the hourglass and his anger, but if we're talking skill, he's going to be rather low.
Carbry. Poor Carbry. It isn't even that he's specifically bad at any of the magick talents, but he wasn't ready for the tournament. He just wasn't. He's good at casting the lower class spells, but they don't mean as much in a fight to the death. The one high class curse he cast was the one that Reid gave him, and look how well that went. Again, he isn't bad, but he would have benefited from a lot more training and self-esteem.
If you want to include Reid, I'd have him tied with Finley. He's a very skilled cursemaker but nothing special in terms of casting ability. With this kind of balance I would normally rank him around the same as Briony, but I had to knock off a point for his general uselessness as a person. Don’t get me wrong, I love Reid, but the smallest provocation and he’s falling to pieces.
What does everyone else think?

For Them: Hopefully 1st & Last Entry
Hello. I was already in the process of writing my next work for the boys to be posted soon as requested to me but what’s been happening in MLQC... I wanted to stay quiet and everything but this is too much.
To those who aren’t aware yet, apparently Victor’s new VA, Jonah Scott got his contract terminated just because of saying Taiwan is a country. When I first heard of this I was like... isn’t he saying a fact? I was literally shocked and speechless... he was getting fired over something like that and as VA of Gavin (Joe Zieja) said was a Google-able fact.
As a Victor stan, it was indeed a rollercoaster. I’m sure fans of Victor aren’t the only affected but the whole MLQC community. When Ben Diskin had to step down from his role as Victor, it was sad but all we could do at that time was respect his choice and be happy for him. He did Victor so amazingly it was just so difficult to part with the voice and interpretation he gave us. Aside from the way Victor’s character was made, I won’t deny how his baritone “dummy” got me hard. This was unexpected but it was mutually agreed upon by the two parties. The MLQC team and Ben parted in good terms (so I hope that’s the case). But at least they talked the whole thing through and prepared for his replacement.
This time however, was not the case. I didn’t know who Jonah was when he was first introduced by MLQC as the new voice of Victor. So as someone who was curious, I did a little research on his previous projects and tried watching a recent anime which he dubbed for and I was impressed. He had this deep voice plus he had this jolly character in real life that I’m sure fans would really like and appreciate. It didn’t take long for me to accept Jonah as the new Victor though I admit I’m still getting used to it. He was doing so well becoming the new Victor but then it had to be cut short just like that. He was the perfect VA for Victor. His voice was similar, he was very nice in person and interacted with the fans, he likes Victor, and Ben approves of him as the next Victor.
But I could only think they decided to terminate Jonah’s contract without even asking for his side. Like there was no room for further discussion. I think all Victor fans are very strong and understanding towards the MLQC team for taking so many problems/announcements well. But now, I’m speaking up that this is too much and unacceptable. I am very aware that this game I came to enjoy and love for almost a year is made in Ch*na. That’s why they’re so sensitive af with the whole Taiwan is a country because of the long history and all that. Some fans could only guess the MLQC team is doing such extreme lengths to protect this server from shutting down but I think it’s already nearing that point.
I honestly love the game. I’ve never been more hooked and invested with an otome game than I did with MLDD/MLQC. I also hope the MLQC server won’t have to shut down but that would probably be the case especially now that Sean Chiplock (Kiro), Joe Zieja (Gavin), and Aleks Le (Shaw) said they won’t be doing/reprising their VO roles for their characters unless Jonah is reinstated as Victor’s VA. That’s definitely a huge blow on the server as it is. The worst case scenario is MLQC won’t accept and we’ll have a voiceless Victor, Gavin, Kiro, and Shaw. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bill Rogers (Lucien) would decide to do the same anytime soon. This news today has definitely made me sad. But I also understand and am very proud of these guys with their decisions. They chose to stand by their friend and colleague who didn’t do anything wrong that was worth the termination of his contract.
At first, the choice affected Victor and the people who loved him dearly. But now MLQC team, YOUR CHOICE affected the ENTIRE FANBASE of the whole server. Your intentions are unknown to us but please act to it accordingly. Please do not make us hate you disappoint us.
P.S. I have stated some facts/truth in this letter but majority of its content is personal views and does not reflect the official game. MLQC would probably release their own official statement soon so we could just wait it ends in the best/better note for all of us.

Hi, I've got a bit of a weird request for MLQC. What would be different with an MC who was a player of the game before somehow getting pulled into the first chapter of it? They don't have to have played through everything, but definitely at least up to ch 13, after Lucien's reveal. Which of the guys would notice MC acting weird? Would MC ever tell them? How would they react? How does this mess with the plotline?
😳 wait when I tell you I used to think about this on a daily basis- I’ve never gone into much depth with it though, so I guess now is a better time than ever! let’s say that for drama’s sake, this person has played up to chapter 29, since I think that’s the last chapter she reunites with them after being gone for 6 months.
Lucien:
- In my eyes, this always starts with the MC waking up confused in her apartment. She recognises the area around her based now what she’s seen in the game and is familiar with though she obviously thinks it’s a dream. Until, that it is, there are texts from in game characters that come from the phone on the bedside table. She’s more unsure then.
- She explores the apartment briefly and is freaked out when she recognises the kitchen, but decides that she should try visiting some other places she remembers from the game to try and confirm what’s going on. On the way out, she runs into Lucien, who’s leaving his apartment at the same time.
- By chapter 29, the last we’ve seen of Lucien is when you’re reunited and he confesses those things to you while he thinks you’re asleep. Because of this, and also because of outside sources, this person understands his situation and his personality much more. There’s a lot less hesitancy, but she isn’t sure what Lucien knows at this point. At the very least, it’s comforting to her that she has the upper hand when he’s not quite smitten for her yet.
- I always end up confiding in Lucien because I’m biased, though normally, that’s obviously not a good idea T-T
- Though of course, early Lucien is very far from a threat, so he notices how bewildered she is to see him and is more concerned than anything. It’s hard to know what to say without completely revealing everything, but I can imagine she’d be struggling either way. She would probably slip up once, maybe referring to something personal between them that hasn’t happened yet out of nerves
- He’d be polite about it, not even a bit wary because I don’t even think the MC knew she had an evol yet, and he’d know that. It’d be better just to assume that she’s spewing nonsense than actually looking very deep into it.
- I have a feeling that this would end up messing with the plot pretty badly, actually. She knows a version of him that doesn’t exist yet, and this would be a singular issue imo. His personality is night and day when comparing to the beginning to how he is currently. It would get her into a lot of trouble either way, but could possibly also force Lucien go undergo development much much earlier
- I can imagine her trying to curve his betrayal. he tells her to meet him at the place he tells her his real motives (the news station?? that skinny and tall building idk ;-;) and she just flat out says no. you can’t leave me if I don’t let you >:)
Victor:
- this!!!!! I have such a soft spot for victor and it shows in how this plays out in my head. Without a doubt, the only person that I would trust with the information that I was pulled into the game is Victor. Throughout most of the game, mostly later chapters, Victor is kind of like her partner — she learns to trust him with almost everything, and they work through the situations they can together. They save each other’s lives countless times. This is a lot for one person to carry while the other is clueless of any of that ever happening.
- Next, I feel like it’s reasonable that she would try to seek out everyone else, and where better to find Victor at this point than LFG? Conveniently, once she gets in the office, Goldman hunts her down to tell her that Victor’s waiting for her in his office to discuss the final terms of investment. talk about nostalgia lol
- personally. I’d feel panicked going up to his office. Victor is a very intimidating guy when you aren’t close to him, and acting as you normally would around him will not only be possibly humiliating but also just not effective at all.
- she would devise a plan in her head and as they talk, would slip in small details that kind of further the plot without revealing too much. so for example, mention how the investment is so important to her because she was an orphan and wants to make a name and prove that anyone can do what they dream to. he’d probably try asking more about that, but if not, she could always go into further detail like how she was injured pretty badly trying to save someone else around that time, but doesn’t really remember why and wants to find this person to see if they’re doing okay. This would advance their relationship like 10 chapters, but it would be pretty hasty. This would just be to let him know who she is and what kind of things the future will contain
- Once he figures out what she’s doing, he’d ask what her purpose is — why did she seek him out? to this, she’d most likely reveal her dilemma, and how she was pulled into this world from hers, and knows what will happen for months in the future because of the circumstances
- whether or not he’d retain this affection that he has for the MC when knowing that she isn’t technically who he’s looking for is up for debate, but regardless, something like that is definitely too good to pass up. he’s always been connected to black swan, and knowing her and enlisting her help would most likely come in handy.
Gavin:
- I think I’ve implied that these events take place somewhere in the first few chapters rather than the first so :( I’ll just continue with that. that might even work better, because it gives them at least a bit of a connection to this person. I don’t really remember what happens in the first few chapters, ngl, but I think it’s pretty calm.
- Gavin!!!! whether he’s your favourite or not, you can’t deny that this man is a literal pilar of support. he’s the knight in their dynamic, whereas she’s the queen. she knows he’s not as intimidating as he seems, and her immediate friendliness might throw him off a bit, but I think it’d be a good thing.
- part of the reason he backs off so much in the earlier chapters is so he doesn’t overwhelm her with all of these sudden developments (like coming back to be her personal guard, about black swan, etc) In the original plot, Gavin knows much more than he lets on, always more than the mc does at the very least.
- this would probably change their relationship a lot. I mean, obviously, whoever this is that’s been pulled into the game is bound to have a different personality to the normal mc. she’s more joking and doesn’t hesitate so much, and obviously is a lot smarter and confident due to knowing the future. she doesn’t have to rely on Gavin for information like the original mc does. instead, she acts with him.
- this literally takes 27 chapters in the game. when she meets Gavin in that evol institution in ch27, that’s the first time they fight comfortably side by side.
- Gavin would definitely notice such a drastic change in personality from the shy and kind girl he knew in high school. he might comment on it a few times, but I feel like a personality change is a bit easier to justify, especially since it’d been a few years. she technically has the mc’s memories, so it’s not suspicious or anything. he’d probably eventually let it go.
- though, I think it’s pretty plausible that he’d find out you’re not actually the mc he knows later, maybe by mistake or by you telling him. but by then, he’s also grown attached to this new version of her and doesn’t mind as much.
Kiro:
- you wouldn’t have to tell him you were pulled into the game. he’d know.
- with his connections as Helios and also just his general memory of the mc, it wouldn’t take very long for him to figure out that she’s not the person he’s been chasing for years. and the mf would probably point it out too, scaring her half to death.
- of course, he doesn’t know how she appeared, just that she did, replacing the actual mc. but, despite how he’s very honest about knowing she isn’t who she says she are, he’s empathetic. it’s hard not to be when she has the mc’s face.
- she’d tell him what happened and how she appeared, partly because she wants to trust him and partly because he seems a bit threatening, but either way, I see him as an eventual ally. she knows the inner workings of everything and would be a great help to him in messing with black swan. they’d pretty much be an unstoppable duo with their combined knowledge.
- as they get closer, she feels it’s necessary to tell him that he doesn’t have to leave to protect her. she can handle herself, and him ever leaving would only cause more grief and make things complicated. he would probably tell her not to worry, that he wouldn’t just leave unprompted.
- when he ends up leaving anyway, it stings more than it did watching it on a screen.
- though, that also makes the reunion more memorable, and it would probably go differently as well. maybe kiro is this mc’s LI?? that would be cool asf

Headcanon - when you think he has an ex-girlfriend
This work, 当你误会他有前女友, was originally written by 君耶君兮 on Weibo, and she has given me permission to translate it 🌸
[ VICTOR ]
You feel slightly indignant.
When you went over to LFG to invite Victor out for dinner, you were told that he was in a meeting. Planning to wait in his office, you discovered that it was already occupied by someone.
A woman.
An impeccably and gorgeously dressed woman.
You take the coffee from the secretary’s hands, donning a professional and mild smile as you enter the room. “Miss, please enjoy.”
The woman lowers her head, staring at her delicate nails. “LFG’s service is as thorough as always. But I prefer cappuccino. Vic knows that.”
“Vic”...? Isn’t that an intimate term of address?
You laugh wryly in your heart while maintaining your blank expression. “How should I address you, and may I know how you’re related to CEO Victor?”
“My surname is Lin. As for how we are related - According to our former relationship, you could say that I’m LFG’s female boss.” Miss Lin exudes an arrogant aura, causing your blood to boil.
An ex-girlfriend?
Before you can probe further, the door is pushed open, and Victor strides in.
“Vic, you’re here~” Miss Lin stands up, unconcealed joy in her eyes.
Victor takes a step backwards coldly. “Hello, Miss Lin.”
The business-like manner he’s treating her causes your bubbling anger to dissipate.
“Why are you being so distant? Just call me ‘Cha Cha’~” Happiness seeps into Miss Lin’s voice. “Can we have dinner tonight?”
Victor furrows his brows, walking past her and to your side. He wraps an arm around your waist. “Apologies. I’ve already made a reservation at a restaurant with my wife.”
“Wife?! You’re married?!” Miss Lin exclaims in a shrill voice, her face stricken in disbelief as her eyes flit to you, looking as though she’s suffered a wrong.
Ah, so she is his ex-girlfriend.
“The wedding invitation was sent to your parents.” Victor lifts his wrist to look at the time. “It’s late. If an opportunity arises, LFG will collaborate with your parents. We’ll make a move.” He gestures to her to leave the room.
She bites her lip, eyes welling up in tears as her storms off, her high-heels clacking against the floor so loudly that the entire company can hear them. Just watching her makes you worried that she’d accidentally sprain her ankles.
“See you again, Miss Lin~” You wave at her, grinning broadly.
Miss Lin almost trips on her feet. She tosses her head around, gives you a harsh glare, then leaves LFG.
-
After the troublesome person is gone, you peel Victor’s claws from your waist.
“What’s wrong?” He gives you an odd look. “Are you throwing a fuss again?”
What does he mean by “a fuss”?!
“Hmph.” You face away from him, refusing to talk.
Victor knits his brows tightly, turning your head around so that you face him properly. “Speak.”
“Victor, you’re being fierce towards me! Because of your ex-girlfriend!” The more you talk, the more maligned you feel, tears swimming at the edges of your eyes.
“I don’t have an ex-girlfriend.”
He sighs, wiping your tears away gently. His finger pads brush the corners of your eyes, grazing your skin. “She’s just the daughter of a business partner, and a junior two years younger from university. I helped her resolve a few issues.”
You turn your face away, huffing. “She said you knew her preference for cappuccino.”
With a look of resignation, Victor tidies your slightly messy hair. “That was the only type of coffee we had in school back then.”
Does he think you’ve never read romantic fiction books on how people from the same school and graduate into the same profession end up together easily?
Seeming to be in a pleasant mood, he pinches your cheek. “Jealous?”
You’re livid. It’s bad enough that this man doesn’t coax you - how could he be happy right now?!
“You’re the one who’s jealous!”
“What nonsense.”
Victor leans down, pressing his forehead against yours. “In university, I was busy learning how to run a business. Where would I find the time to bother about such things?”
A warm kiss meets your eyebrow. “Also, I spent 17 years looking for you. In this life, there’s only you.”
“Don’t stand so close to me - I’m still angry!” You poke his chest, pushing him away timidly.
“Angry?” He gives you a mischievous glance. “In that case, let’s call off the reservation at the restaurant and go straight home.”
“Victor!”

[ GAVIN ]
Gavin has been acting weird recently.
He often holes himself in the study room, where he would remain for at least half an hour. At first, you thought he was troubled by an unresolved case. But when you bumped into Eli in the STF, he commented that the officers have been pretty idle these days.
So what exactly does Officer Gavin do in the room?
You peek through the door furtively, meticulously observing every movement by Suspect Gavin.
Gavin is in front of the desk, its middle drawer opened halfway - the only drawer which has a lock.
On the table rests a small, pale pink box that you’ve never seen before.
The colour clearly doesn’t gel with Gavin’s usual style.
Wanting to have a closer look, you instinctively inch closer, and end up pushing the door further and catching Gavin’s attention.
In one swift motion, he hurriedly covers the box and stuffs it back into the drawer, twisting the lock. It’s as though he has a guilty conscience. If you weren’t suspicious that he was hiding something from you, you would have applauded him for how smooth his actions were.
“W-what’s wrong?” Mr Gavin has never been good at lying, and he stammers.
“Nothing. I’m just here to tell you that dinner’s ready.” You try to pretend that nothing happened, but you just can’t suppress your curiosity. “What are you doing?”
Gavin’s eyes dart around. “I was... looking at files.”
Who stores files in a pink box oozing with a feminine aura?! Does it contain wanted posters for absconded Disney princesses?!
You release a gloomy noise of acknowledgement, turn around, and head downstairs.
Behind you, Gavin sees that he has successfully evaded suspicion. With a sigh of relief, he double-checks that the drawer is locked properly before trailing behind you.
-
You’re upset.
Gavin has his own little secret. And it’s a pink one.
Your head is plopped on the office desk, not a single word typed on the proposal document even after half an hour. Finally, you decide to call Minor in.
You pull the curtains closed, increase the intensity of the lights, and glare at Minor fiercely. Like an interrogator, you question: “Let me ask you this - do you know why your Bro Gavin has a small box?”
Minor shrinks into the sofa. “I know.”
He adds softly, “And it’s pink.”
So even Minor knows about it but you don’t... :)
“What’s in the box? Don’t tell me it’s ‘files’.” Just thinking about the obvious lie Gavin spun makes you angry.
“Eh, there’s nothing much. It’s just things belonging to the girl Bro Gavin used to like. He just adds things into it from time to time.”
-
A girl Gavin used to like.
Then again, Gavin is so outstanding. Before you reunited with him, how could he not have had a girlfriend? Anyway, those things happened in the past, so you should be more magnanimous, and not care about it.
“Not care about it”?! What a joke!
After receiving the acknowledgement that Gavin has an ex-girlfriend, you’ve been in an incredibly bad mood. It’s akin to finding a good pig, and then discovering that one of its trotters has been fractured by someone else.
What’s worse is that Gavin remains in the study room to look at the box frequently, and even adds things to it! Doesn’t this mean that she’s still constantly in his mind?
The more you think about it, the more enraged you are. After work, you storm off, your high heels clacking against the floor noisily.
When you reach home, you find that Gavin is already back, and is current in the study room.
Good. Very good. You’ll settle the matter with him once and for all.
Fuming, you push the door open and exclaim, “Gavin, you’re still thinking about your ex-girlfriend even when you’re already with me?!”
“???”
Your sudden action startles Gavin, leaving him unable to hide the box in time. He stares at you, frozen in place.
He recovers after a moment. “I don’t have an ex-girlfriend.”
Nonsense. “Minor told me everything. That box stores the things related to the girl you used to like!”
“Minor?” Blue veins pop out on his temples as he balls his hands into fists.
He picks up the box and brisk walks over to you. “There isn’t another woman. These... are all yours.”
A hand-copied “Byron’s Poetry Collection”, photographs of you from various angles evidently taken in secret, a worn out copy of Franz Liszt’s “Liebestraum”, a ginkgo bookmark, and pictures of the both of you...
They are indeed related to you.
There’s practically not a shred of anger left in your body.
You lean into his arms. “Since they’re related to me, why did you have to be so secretive about it? I even thought you...”
He sighs. “I wanted to give this to you during our wedding. But it seems I have to do it earlier now.”
Why do you feel strangely guilty?
You purse your lips. “I could pretend that I didn’t see it?”
Gavin gives you a resigned smile as he pats your head. “If you see it again, it wouldn’t be a surprise.” He lowers his head, burying it in the crook of your neck, greedily drinking in your scent. “But I guess we could bring the wedding earlier.”
-
[ LUCIEN ]
“Good afternoon Ah Ming, have you had lunch?”
It’s 9pm, and you just received an overseas call from Ah Ming, who is now in London. You guess that they’ve had lunch not too long ago.
“We’ve eaten. Teacher’s Wife, don’t tell him I said this, but Professor just went into a jewellery shop to get a custom-made brooch. Apparently, it’s very suitable as a gift for one’s girlfriend. It’s definitely for you. I’ll send you a picture.”
It was indeed worthwhile to buy Ah Ming small bites behind Lucien’s back. Having eaten your cakes, he’s on your side.
Since Lucien didn’t tell you about it, it must be meant as a surprise. In that case, you pretend not to know about it.
-
After Lucien returns, you take a meticulous look through all the gifts he gave you, but there’s no sign of that brooch.
Could Lucien be waiting for an even more suitable time to give it to you?
But after waiting for a long while, he doesn’t seem to have an intention of giving you the brooch. You gradually sense that something is not quite right. Lucien custom-made a brooch meant for a female, but it’s not for you.
So could it be for another woman?
-
This question receives an answer in the best biological centre in the country, where you see a woman sitting on a stone bench, wearing the brooch you saw in the picture Ah Ming sent.
Your initial high spirits in coming here to invite Lucien out for dinner was doused with a bucket of cold water.
Finding a conversation topic, you decide to engage in small talk with her.
“Hello, are you waiting for someone?”
The woman seems to be a good conversationalist, and she answers your question candidly.
“Yes, my boyfriend is a professor here.”
Since the topic has arisen, you can dive straight to the main topic. “Your brooch is beautiful. Did you buy it from somewhere?”
The woman lowers her head and fiddles with the brooch. A sweet smile subconsciously surfaces on her face, a complete contrast to the emotions in your heart. “My ex-boyfriend gave it to me, so I don’t know where he bought it. from.”
??
Who in the world smiles so happily at the mention of their ex-boyfriend??
No - the important thing is that Lucien is her ex-boyfriend?!
Or rather - she is Lucien’s ex-girlfriend??
-
Jealousy overwhelms you, causing you to find this woman and even the building unpleasant to look at. Much less Lucien, who has just appeared at the main entrance.
Seeing him walking towards you, you get to your feet. He opens his arms, waiting for you to rush into them as you usually do.
Gripping your bag, you turn around and walk away.
Lucien: ???
He hurries after you, tugging your arm and pulling you into his arms. “What’s wrong?”
Despite struggling, you’re unable to free yourself from his grasp, so you simply give up.
You’re angry. “Don’t hug me. Go hug your ex-girlfriend!”
The more you speak, the more angry you feel.
“Ex-girlfriend?”
It’s rare for Lucien to be astounded, and it seems he doesn’t understand what you’re saying.
“There.” You tilt your chin towards the direction of the woman.”She said it herself - that brooch is from her ex-boyfriend!”
Lucien looks over in the direction you’re signalling towards. When the woman notices his gaze, she gives him a nod.
Such an interaction - do they think you’re blind?!
You’re so enraged that the corners of your eyes have reddened. He once said that you were the only colour in his monochrome world - what nonsense! Right now, you feel like you’re just a streak of green in his colourful and vibrant world!
“The Little Butterfly has misunderstood me.” Lucien looks as though he’s been wronged. He draws closer to your ear. “That’s Professor Huang’s girlfriend. More accurately, his fiancee. What she meant was that Professor Huang was her ex-boyfriend. Now, he’s her fiancé.”
Very quickly, Lucien catches your drift. “Professor Huang asked me for a favour to have the brooch custom-made while I was abroad. It was an engagement gift to her.”
...how would you have known what she meant...
You let out a “hmph”, lowering your head and refusing to speak.
He ruffles your hair. “Look over there.”
You lift your head, and see the woman lunging into the arms of a bespectacled man. Just like the countless times you’ve lunged into Lucien’s arms.
After verifying that you had really misunderstood the situation, you apologise softly. “I’m sorry.”
Lucien presses his hand on the top of your head, giving it a rub. The smile on his lips is tender and affectionate. “I’ve never had a previous girlfriend. You’re my first, and the only one. However...”
He steers the topic of the conversation.
“I’m very happy to see my Little Butterfly jealous. It’s very cute.”
-
[ KIRO ]
Kiro is really good when it comes to his skills.
Not in terms of cooking, but in terms of make-up and fashion.
Each time you fret over your dressing when attending all sorts of gatherings, meetings, and even day-to-day activities, he always pick out the most appropriate outfit for you.
At first, you thought this was a necessity for artistes. At least, that was until you visited him at his workplace once, and heard Savin being in awe at how skilled Kiro was when he arranged your hair out of boredom. “If the both of you could work together when writing songs, would your output be as good as your hairstyling?”
“...Savin, having one’s hair tied up isn’t good for the scalp. I can’t bear for my Miss Chips to go through such pain. I used my own special model before this~” Kiro pats his own hair as he stares into the mirror, then helps loosen the bun he tied for you.
His own special model?
But this is the first time he’s trying out this hairstyle on you.
You tilt your head in suspicion, looking at Kiro.
Kiro senses your eyes on him, and he turns around to meet them before averting his gaze.
Something’s odd. Kiro is definitely hiding something from you.
Make-up, pairing accessories, hairstyling... these things are close to the hearts of women.
Does Kiro have an ex-girlfriend?!
With such a thought in mind, you start viewing Kiro in a new light.
It’s not good to cause a scene when there are so many people around, so you decide to suppress your emotions for now.
Make-up artistes at the side watch Kiro and comment politely, “It’s rare to see Kiro being so meticulous. Yesterday, as usual, he asked my daughter about make-up. Specifically, make-up suitable for Loveland City’s Golden Horse Film Festival. He even recorded down pointers in a small notebook.”
‘As usual’? ‘Golden Horse Film Festival’?
You haven’t received an invitation to this award ceremony. So Kiro was definitely not asking the make-up artiste on behalf of you.
He really has an ex-girlfriend!
A staff member pushes the doors to the make-up room. “Savin, there aren’t enough people outside. The director wants Kiro’s make-up artistes to help out.”
Savin makes a sound of acknowledgement. “The two of you - stay here, and don’t move around.” He then brings the make-up artistes to the filming venue.
Seeing that they’ve left, you decide to settle the issue once and for all.
You stand up and shift further away from him.
“Miss Chips, did I do something wrong?”
Since just now, Kiro could sense that something was off about you. Moreover, you’re deliberately staying far away from him. If he couldn’t see that you were angry, he'd truly be a fool.
Your eyes redden as you bite your lip. “You’re so skilled. Did you... practise with your ex-girlfriend a lot?”
He immediately grabs your arm and denies it. “I don’t have an ex-girlfriend.” His eyes are filled with the seriousness of KEY. “I’ve only had Miss Chips.”
Although you really want to believe him, you need proof.
“In that case, why did you say that you have a “special model”? You’ve never tried that hairstyle with me before, and I’ve never won a Golden Horse Film Festival award...” Your voice grows soft, and you can’t help but choke at the end.
At the sight of you crying, Kiro becomes frantic, forgetting that there are tissues on the table. He lifts his arm, using his sleeve to wipe your tears dry.
“I was referring to an actual model. It’s the one in our basement storeroom - the mannequin with the same hairstyle as yours.”
He didn’t think his words would cause you to misunderstand. He explains further. “As for the Golden Horse Film Festival, I didn’t want to bring it up yet. I thought you would have preferred to find out from the officials. I think they should be sending you the invitation tomorrow, my ‘Best Producer’~”
The news is too sudden, like a streak of lightning in a clear sky. You’re unable to react, and can only stare blankly into his blue eyes.
“Miss Chips?” Kiro waves his hand in front of your eyes.
You have no reaction.
Like a gigantic Apple Box, he jumps up and down.
You finally return to your senses, lowering your head and speaking softly. “I’m sorry...”
“Your suspicions hurt my feelings.” He holds his chin, as though in deep thought. “Your punishment is to accompany me to the amusement park this weekend~”
-
[ SHAW ]
There’s something off about Shaw.
In the past, he used to send messages in the open, and you wouldn’t intrude on his privacy. But whenever he gets a notification these days, he’d first cast a glance at you to ensure that you aren’t looking before he replies.
You didn’t really care at first. But as it happened more frequently, you started becoming suspicious that he was up to some shady business behind your back again. It was as though he was planning to swindle someone - and you had a feeling that the victim was going to be you.
-
Another notification sounds, and his eyes subconsciously flit towards you.
You arch your brows. “What do you want!?”
“Nothing. Continue watching the television.” He blocks the screen from you secretively.
There’s definitely something going on.
After replying to the message and checking that his phone is locked, he sets it down on the coffee table, leaning back against the sofa and watching the television.
After a while, he gets up, preparing to get a glass of cola from the kitchen. He tells you sternly, “Don’t look at my phone.”
You purse your lips.
-
Another notification.
“...”
It would have been better if he didn’t specially tell you not to look at it. Now, you’re even more curious.
You glance towards the kitchen, and decide that it should be a while before Shaw returns. You wouldn’t be discovered if you just snuck a quick peek, right?
Judging from the name alone, it’s obvious that the sender is a female. Troubled, you tap open the chat.
“It’s been so long. How’s it going at your end?”
“I’m all prepared. You can tell her tomorrow.”
“Mm, she doesn’t know about it yet, but she seems to be getting suspicious since I’ve been hiding from her when I send messages.”
“Why do I feel like my existence shouldn’t be known?”
“That has always been the case.”
“Sigh. Be careful then.”
“Sure. I’ll leave tomorrow to you.”
“Existence shouldn’t be known?” You repeat. In the realm of relationships, the person who fits such a description is usually a third party or a mistress.
Or could it be Shaw’s ex-girlfriend?
“Hey!! Why did you peek at my phone!?” With Shaw’s sudden return and how you forgot that you were supposed to be doing this in secret, Shaw catches you red-handed.
It’s a good thing you can confront him in person. After all, you’re the “existence who has been known”.
You narrow your eyes at him. “Who are you talking to?”
“No one.” He looks as though he has nothing to hide. But after interacting with him for such a long time, you aren’t sold at all.
“Is she your ex-girlfriend?” The more you think about it, the more you believe in your inferences.
Shaw’s eyebrows arch upwards at this unexpected question. “What are you thinking? What ex-girlfriend?”
“Then why don’t you want me to know, and why are you hiding it from me?” You shoot him a cold expression.
“You’ll know tomorrow.” He snatches his phone from your hand, turns around and walks into the bedroom.
-
That night, Shaw tries to hug you to sleep as usual. But after you struggle from his grasp, he sighs and gives up, lying on the bed properly.
You don’t sleep.
In the morning, you feel Shaw getting out of bed. For someone like him who doesn’t get up until noon, this behaviour is yet another dubious point.
You don’t stir, pretending to be asleep while he changes his clothes.
Before he leaves through the door, he glances in your direction. “I have something on in the afternoon so I won’t be back. Tonight at 8pm, I’ll be waiting for you in Live House’s break room.”
He knows that you didn’t sleep.
Without an appetite, you skip breakfast, and have something simple for lunch to stave your hunger pangs.
At around 5pm, you start questioning yourself. Giving up would be an impossibility. Back then, Shaw was the one who confessed his feelings to you first.
You change into a sheath dress, which very appropriately showcases the sophistication and beauty of a mature woman. If the other party is a white collar employee, you’d show her the aura of a company’s boss. If the other party is a younger girl, you’d let her experience the cruel workings of society.
After applying make-up meticulously, you’re all set, and you drive to Live House.
-
Today, Live House isn’t as crowded as it usually is. It could almost be described as desolate.
The large hall isn’t lit, so you use your phone as a light source as you make your way to the break room.
Once the door is open, cream clematis flowers flood your vision, and you’re at a complete loss.
“Happy birthday.”
Shaw is standing in the middle, holding a present. On the table next to him, there’s an exquisite birthday cake.
You forgot that it was your birthday today.
“Shocked silly?” He walks towards you, wrapping an arm around your waist and leading you towards the table.
“That wasn’t my ex-girlfriend. It was the boss of the floral shop. I let her decorate the break room for me.”
You come to your senses. “Then why were you acting so secretively?”
“Stupid. If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise.” He pinches your cheek. “Make a wish.”
“My wish is to have three more wishes.”
“Wishes don’t come true if you say them out loud.” He holds up a cake knife. “All right, since you’ve ruined your wish, let’s enjoy the cake~”
“Shaw!” You twist his ear angrily.
“Just kidding. I’ll give you three chances to make a wish. For real this time.”
Under the soft illumination of the candle lights, your shadows meld together, just like the cream clematis flowers.

Hi! I wanted to ask you something about Klapollo. What topic/argument do you think could possibly cause them to break up or take a break from the relationship? I live for the drama and was thinking about maybe writing a fic but like I dont want to make either of them assholes, like Apollo bringing Kristoph up to hurt Klavier, for example. I don't think he would do that but I struggle to come up with something else.
Oh boy, I hope you’re not upset about this, but I wrote you an essay. I’m sorry.
Overall, I really like the klapollo relationship timeline because, compared to, say, narumi/su they have a much more normal, organic story. They meet, flirt, share a mutual trauma, get together! Totally normal! But I also think that they would have a much harder time than narumi/su finding the balance you need in a serious relationship and I can see them calling it quits for perfectly practical reasons that aren’t really anything to do with one being a jerk, you know? Here are my top things that I think they would have to navigate and maybe struggle with before a real happily ever after:
1. Money. You’ve probably seen my post where I talk about Apollo feeling uncomfortable with displays of affluence. I don’t think that this is an easy one to get past. AA6 Spoilers, but Dhurke and Datz literally raised them in hiding on the run in the mountainous jungles of Khura’in. They sent Apollo to the states as a nine year old. We don’t know what he did when he got here, but my money’s always been on the foster system. That doesn’t typically breed a sense of stability, financial or otherwise.
From my experience (so take it with a grain of salt), children who grow up with very little tend to behave in one of two ways when they reach financial stability and/or achieve wealth: first option, they’re really bad with it. They spend it nearly as fast as they make it on things they didn’t get to have or experience when they were growing up. Second option, they never spend it. They know what it’s like to be without, so they save as much of it as they can so they have the security of knowing, if something happens, they won’t have to go back to the way it was before. I will always put Apollo in the latter category. He works hard for what he has and what he gets and, I think, things that signify extravagance make him uncomfortable. On the other hand, I think that the Gavin’s have always had some sort of wealth. Klavier and Kristoph have very different aesthetics to their spaces that we get to experience (Klavier’s office and Kristoph’s cell) but they’re both pretty lavish. Now, we can assume they each made their money individually in their respective careers but, honestly, Kristoph’s cell is so gaudy. To me, it screams “this is what I’m used to and I refuse to accept any less” which is an attitude that I feel comes more from a lifetime of that treatment.
So if we accept everything that I’ve said above as true, trying to put a person who saves every penny they get and feels bad treating themselves with a person who spends money freely because it’s been a constant throughout their life? It can go poorly. Casually dating, maybe it’s not such an issue once Apollo says “please no more presents and can we just get takeout for once?” but if you’re talking about something more serious, where you have to live in the same space and pay joint bills and be confronted with the other person’s spending habits constantly, it’s a whole other thing. Please take it from me as a person in a long term relationship who loves their partner tremendously—everyone fights about money. Everyone. It would be very difficult for Apollo to feel comfortable, even if he knew that finances were in good shape and there was savings, etc. Things happen, people leave. Nothing gold can stay. Changing that line of thinking takes work. It would also be easier said than done for Klavier to just do an about face on his own habits for Apollo’s comfort. Being a celebrity makes money, but it costs money, too. There is a certain amount of lushness that people expect. That can’t just go away. These are things that become bigger problems overtime, no matter how much you love each other.
Anyway, I would be really surprised if—even if you’re writing them as really happily married—Apollo doesn’t have a ‘emergency fund’ that even Klavier doesn’t know about. It’s a ‘just in case’. Just in case Klavier leaves him. Just in case he needs to get away fast. Just in case the world ends. It’s not a logical thing, something that he sat down and rationalized doing, it’s just there because it feels better to have it than to not. But that can be kind of hurtful if the other person finds out about it, so. There you go, a whole minefield of money related drama.
2. Apollo’s Abandonment Issues. He’s got them! What do you call and orphan twice over who also lost his very best friend? I don’t know, but if capcom doesn’t stop picking on my boy I’m going to kick them in the teeth. I will still never get over AA6 for telling us that Dhurke took Apollo in when he was orphaned as a baby, then abandoned him in the USA, then came back for him and got his hopes up, and then was actually dead the whole time! Hahahaha! What a trip!
Anyway, you don’t come back from that super easy. People who suffer this kind of trauma usually have a really hard time trusting others, which is understandable. They also can have unrealistic needs from their partners, become codependent, or even just self-sabotage their relationships, pulling away first to try and avoid the pain because they think the other person will leave them. I think that last one is most likely for Apollo, especially given the disparity in circumstances I mentioned above. If Apollo can’t trust that Klavier actually loves him, can’t trust that he won’t leave him like EVERYONE ELSE HAS, then they can’t have a healthy relationship. Drama.
3. Klavier’s Emotional Trauma. Kristoph is a pretty big jerk to Klavier in the last case of AA4. He criticizes and undermines Klavier, threatens and admits to manipulating him. In the anthology, Klavier shares an “lol so funny!” story about Kristoph accidentally breaking a window while he and Klavier are playing ball. In it, he convinces Klavier that it was his fault and that he should take the blame and apologize for breaking the window! And Klavier does! That’s gaslighting, baby, and since the Anthology is supposed to be canon, we can take that to mean it’s been happening since Klavier was a kid. Think about that. An entire life of gaslighting and manipulative behavior! You don’t come back from that easily, either.
People who experience emotional abuse can, among other things, suffer from depression and low-self esteem. They need affirmation from their partners and can have a hard time with letting people in or being honest (though not from a malicious mindset—more a “I’m going to say what I think you want to hear because if you’re happy, bad things won’t happen!”). They can also always be waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. Sure things are good, but when will that end and the bad time start? It’s a self fulfilling prophecy: if all you can do is worry about things going wrong, then you aren’t actually enjoying when things are going right and you will cause the issues you’re so worried about. Drama.
4. Fame. Klavier has been in the spotlight since he was a literal child. If the Gavinners were already hits when Klavier was 17, they likely formed and starred their rise some time before then. A year, maybe two? Klavier spent his formative years in the spotlight. He quite literally doesn’t know any other way. Apollo, on the other hand, has never experienced the kind of scrutiny he’d be subject to when dating someone like Klavier. It can be really stressful and hurtful and just overall not a good time. And I’m not saying that Klavier wouldn’t be sympathetic, but I don’t think he would really understand how difficult it could be to have been thrust into that position out of nowhere, because he’s had years of dealing with it and was in a completely different place in life when it began for him. It’s not unreasonable to think that Apollo might not be able to take it. You can love someone and want to be with them but if you can’t adapt to their lifestyle, it’s not going to work. They could walk away rather than risk what might happen to Apollo if they kept it up. Drama.
5. Careers. They both have very demanding jobs. While sharing a similar profession can mean there’s a mutual understanding, it can also cause issues if you... never get to see each other? Schedules can be out of alignment (which could easily happen; their cases can’t always line up and they seem to require a lot of time investment outside of just normal hours). If Klavier goes back into music, that’s an additional time constraint. Why be in a relationship when you can only see the other person for moments here and there? What about the stress that comes with those jobs? That can cause drama.
6. Klavier looks like Kristoph. They are very different people, yes, but similar enough in some ways that it could cause tension. Maybe Klavier is tired and stressed and snaps at Apollo, and suddenly, all Apollo can see is Kristoph and all he can feel is the uncomfortable churning in his stomach that goes along with the memories of him. Someone he trusted, someone who let him down. That’s a difficult subject to broach, and it can fester like an infected wound if left intended.
But Apollo sounds like Kristoph sometimes. We saw it in AA5, which is, of course, an extreme circumstance. But it can come out from time to time in other ways. A phrase that slips out, the way he intones certain words, the way he signs off in his emails—little things that are harmless, but can still act as triggers.
Sometimes you need to get away from things that can remind you of your past in order to work on getting over them. If you are in love with someone who shares a similar trauma, who brings those issues from the past to light frequently just by being themselves, it might not be a healthy situation. I don’t think they would need to throw it in each other’s faces for it to become an issue. Drama.
There are more, but I probably took this more seriously than you intended. Whoops! Anyway, I hope that helps??? Maybe???? I hope you get them back together in the end because they deserve to be happy though!!!!!!!

3.) 11 Minutes--Ashton Irwin ‘Lovers in a Song’ series
a/n: So while each ‘chapter’ is titled after a song it’s more of the mood and a few choice lyrics that really made the story. This story changed a lot as I wrote it but in the end it all flows really nicely together. I’m so excited to share this with you! Each part is 3,000 with the exception of the last part. Please don’t hesitate to send me messages, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Word count: 3k
warnings: a sexy phone call, the use of ‘Daddy’ multiple times, sexy play with wine, hints of infidelity but NOT in the way you think I promise, uhh I think that’s it?

It’s been a year since Ashton and Cressida have seen each other at The Golden Lion. Ever since they returned from Europe three years ago they agreed to only see each other once a year on the anniversary of their first meeting and spend a long weekend together.
For a little over a year and a half, the forbidden couple have been publicly linked to other people. Ashton has been tied to Lucinda Clarke, her family are well known partners with Irwin Whisky and the partnership between Ashton and Lucinda would be beneficial to both parties. Lucinda is nice enough but she’s more silver than gold.
Cressida has been snapped with Gavin de Poiters, the heir to centuries old winemakers in Europe. They attend many dinners and club scenes together, making sure they’re the center of the paparazzi eye by order of their PR group. Cressida paints on the perfect smile but her mind and heart are always on Ashton.
Part of their deal is to not be in contact with each other until their weekend. Cressida has been going back and forth on cancelling this year because she feels guilty doing this to Gavin. Her mind was practically set on cancelling when a small package was sent to her office on Valentine’s Day.
It was a pretty bracelet with purple and pink jewels and her favorite shade of red lipstick and a note that read:
I hope to only see you in these two things on our weekend. My golden lady. A.I
Cressida hasn’t removed the bracelet since.
Cressida is listening to her schedule for the next coming weeks while doing her morning stretches when one of them makes her pause mid side lunge.
“Can you repeat that one for next weekend?” Cressida asks her assistant, Chloe.
“Yes, um, you and Gavin are scheduled for that three-day conference at The Golden Lion promoting all inclusivity within the workplace. He will only be able to attend the Friday evening session and is on a flight to Japan right after.”
Cressida’s heart pounds in her chest. She’s going to be with Gavin at her and Ashton’s hidden sanctuary, with Ashton present as well. Their time together isn’t for another two months. Will she be able to handle herself in front of Gavin?
For the rest of the week, Cressida has been anxiously anticipating seeing Ashton. She wonders if Lucinda will be there or on one of her many yachts partying. She’s distracted from her day-to-day tasks; her fingers itching to call Ashton and ask him what they should do.
On Friday night, Cressida is putting on the final touch of her outfit which is the red lipstick Ashton gifted her. She bought a gold sequined dress with a plunging neckline and an open back. The only thing holding it up were the thin straps on her shoulders, and due to the minimal material, she was braless as well. She wanted to show off for Ashton.
“You’re wearing that?” Gavin asks once she steps down the stairs. Chloe helps her into her black coat, handing her her gold clutch.
“Yes, what’s wrong with it?”
“It’s a bit revealing, don’t you think?” his eyebrows raise in judgment.
“It’s in style now, Gavin. Let’s go.”
They’re about eleven minutes away from the hotel, Gavin’s tapping away at his phone while Cressida stares out the rain filled window, her mind wandering to a college bar and a handsome man when an unsaved number lights up on Cressida’s phone, it buzzes on her thigh. Thinking it could be someone from the company, she picks up.
“Hello?”
“It’s me.”
Cressida holds back her gasp at the sound of Ashton’s voice. The last time she heard it he was telling her goodbye in the doorway of their room before she went to the main desk. Her stomach clenches at the soft timber.
“I know you’re with him but I’m waiting for you. Can you put on a show for me tonight, darling? Say ‘yes Daddy’ if you understand.”
Cressida swallows harshly, her voice cracking when she responds with, “Yes Daddy.”
“Good girl. Are you wearing that lipstick I bought you? Say it again if you are.”
“Yes, Daddy, I am.”
“And the bracelet?”
“Yes, Daddy,” she says a little breathlessly. Gavin gives her an odd look and she smiles lightly waving her hand to dismiss it. He sighs and goes back to his phone.
“That’s a very good girl,” Ashton hums and she relishes the sound. “I made sure the staff know not to address you tonight, but your room is next to mine. Gavin’s leaving tonight, right? Tell me ‘yes, Daddy that’s right’ if it is.”
“Yes, Daddy,” Cressida clears her throat, “that’s right.”
“Mm, good. I can’t wait to see you, and hear you call me Daddy while I have you pinned beneath me.”
Cressida’s stunned for a beat at his words. Part of her worries Gavin can hear it’s not really her father she’s speaking to, but she’s safe with Ashton’s voice in her ear.
“That sounds…wonderful, Daddy.”
“Are you going to put on a show for me, angel?”
“You know I will, Daddy,” she promises, and he groans at her ease of the term. She smiles in victory and sees the large marquee of the hotel sign out her window. “I’ll see you soon, Daddy. Let’s grab lunch with Gavin soon.”
“Oh, you’re naughty—”
Cressida laughs and hangs up before he can finish his sentence. She hopes that sets him off a little.
“Your father wants to grab lunch?” Gavin asks while they wait for the valet attendees to grab their umbrellas and open the doors for them.
“And a show,” Cressida grins.
Gavin gets out first and opens the door for her making sure the umbrella covers her completely. She holds his arm like she’s supposed to and smiles at the few cameramen who are lining the walkway to the main doors. Ashton is almost within her reach, her stomach flips in excitement at being near him soon.
She and Gavin greet the people they’re supposed to but she’s also scanning the hall for signs of Ashton. She hopes Lucinda isn’t here. As they near the bar at the back she hears his voice, and it tickles her ears. Subconsciously, she squeezes Gavin’s arm in response to the raw smoothness of it as he speaks with someone about his business trip in Cabo. It reminds her of his whisky, it goes down smooth but leaves a raw ache in your mouth for more.
Cressida shivers at the thought of what else he does smoothly while going down.
“You should have worn something warmer,” Gavin reprimands but Cressida is the complete opposite.
“I’m fine. I just need a drink to warm me up,” she speaks loud enough so Ashton can hear her.
“My whisky will warm you right up, James,” Ashton calls sardonically.
Cressida looks over at him to see him smirking, his dimple making an appearance and it deepens as he eyes her up in her dress. He’s drinking her in. She’s happy to see Lucinda isn’t in attendance. For a flicker of a moment, she forgets that it’s not just the two of them in the safety of these walls and she quickly resets her face.
“In the pits of hell, maybe.”
He cocks his head in admiration, but he knows how fiery she is. He bets Gavin doesn’t know that about her.
“Your brandy holds that throne.”
“Its rightful place is a throne,” she rolls her neck in attitude, lips pouted to showcase the deep red color. “A throne made of gold.”
Ashton breathes in heavily at her sassiness, but it’s only apparent to him. Their onlookers are shifting eyes between the two nervously. Gavin is tapping his fingers impatiently on the bar top, he doesn’t want to be here. He’s voiced it to Cressida repeatedly but for appearances sake, they need to be seen together.
“There’s a whole room, Irwin, occupy some other space,” Gavin snaps.
“I intend to de Poiters, but that’s not until later in the privacy of my own room.” Ashton winks swiftly at Cressida and she feels her cheeks warm. His promise of pinning her swirls back in her mind. “I’ll be having your finest red, actually. Did you know it stains on skin? Even in the smallest of crevices hidden away.”
Cressida can only imagine what he means. She presses her thighs together.
“You disgust me, much like your whisky. It tastes of horses piss,” Gavin snorts.
“Drink that frequently, do you?”
Cressida bites her lip to keep her giggle at bay. Ashton’s current demeanor (and his phone call) are turning her on in the worst way. All she wants is to be stowed away in their room for the whole weekend instead of attending these sessions. She’s thankful Gavin is leaving right after this one.
“Fuck off,” Gavin shakes his head and grabs their drinks. “Let’s go Cress.”
Cressida makes sure to turn slowly so Ashton gets a good look of her in her dress. She feels his eyes burning into her back the whole way to their seats.
The first session seems to go on for an eternity, but her mind is occupied of fantasies with Ashton. Fantasies she hopes will come true tonight once Gavin leaves. Finally, the session is over and everyone in attendance are excused to their rooms or another hall where there’s coffee being served.
“I’ll see you on Monday,” Gavin gives Cressida a half-assed kiss on her cheek before walking towards the main doors. He doesn’t look back, then a throat clearing behind her catches her attention.
“I believe we’re on the same floor, James,” his voice is flat, but she can see the fire in his eyes. People bustling by are in hearing distance, it’s still time to act.
“Great,” she rolls her eyes and bumps past him towards the elevators.
They wait patiently for the doors to open but she’s about to burst. She’s shaking her foot until the gold doors slide open and they enter it quickly. Cressida eyes up the camera in the corner while Ashton stares straight ahead at the guests until the doors close. Ashton and Cressida’s eyes meet in the reflection.
“You have no idea the restraint I’m using right now because of that camera,” Ashton tells her reflection.
“I’m sure you could pay to have it erased,” she grins then cocks her head up at him, “or to keep for your own.”
“You’re really asking for it, angel,” he shakes his head turning it back to the closed doors.
“I could beg, too you know,” she responds airily. “Would Daddy like that?”
“Fuck, Cressida,” he tuts, and she giggles.
The elevator comes to a stop and the doors open slowly. Cressida is the first to step out but then Ashton has her pinned against the opposite wall, his face invading her space. He hikes her leg high on his waist, his fingers teasing the back of her thigh.
“You in this dress is making me weak,” he mumbles.
“Really?” she hooks her heel around his leg pulling him closer to her where she feels his bulge. “Seems like it’s making you hard, Ash.”
“That’s not my name tonight, angel,” his lips ghost over hers and he lifts her other leg to wrap around his waist. He presses himself against her harshly, her back pushes into the wall with force. “What do you call me?”
“Sorry, Daddy.”
He smiles then pulls off the wall holding her securely until he unlocks their room. Once inside, he sets her on the floor and opens the fridge.
“Strip for me and wait in the room with the tub,” he points.
“Can I have a kiss first?” she pouts, and he laughs.
“You aren’t in control tonight, angel,” he pokes her nose, “no matter how hard you try. Go.”
“But—”
“I said go. I’ll be there in a minute.”
They have a mini stare off until she finally obeys and moves into the room. The dress is easy to get out of, she just slips it off and lays on the bed watching Ashton whistle while he opens a wine bottle. He’s taking his sweet time and her fingers start to wander and her eyes close imagining it’s Ashton’s fingers.
“Did I say you could touch yourself?”
Cressida’s eyes flash open and he’s holding Gavin’s red wine in his hand, his gaze on her hand between her legs.
“Wanted to be ready for you,” she teases her finger inside and Ashton’s gaze is on every movement. “You said you wanted a show.”
“You’re so naughty,” he shakes his head setting the bottle down. “Good thing I brought this.”
He pulls out two gold restraints, she can tell it’s silked the way it glides over his fingers. She stares at him in awe as he moves on top of her. He snatches her wrist roughly bringing it above her head to the wooden post in the center. She watches him bind her wrist and loop it around the wood. He forces her other hand above her head and does the same, tying it tightly.
“Pull,” he commands staring down at her. She pulls her wrists down and feels the restraint. It excites her. “Good. Now, you’re going to watch me enjoy your boyfriend’s wine.”
He reaches for the bottle and scoots down her body. Ashton pours the deep red wine down her chest. The chill of it trickles over her breasts and down her stomach into her navel. Ashton ducks down and slurps up as much as he can, but she feels it slip onto the bed on either side of her. When his tongue swirls in her bellybutton, she squirms.
“Mm tastes better on you,” he smiles and tips the bottle over her breast. He closes his mouth on her nipple, sucking the red juice off until there’s teeth marks in her skin.
Cressida’s finding it hard to breathe watching Ashton. Feeling his mouth on her. He’s drinking the wine, but she’s drunk on his antics.
“How do you think Gavin would feel knowing I’m enjoying his wine smothered all over you?” he taunts and pours more on her belly.
It gushes off the sides, but Ashton situates himself between her legs and slurps up as much as he can then quickly shifts to her pussy, his mouth opening to her sweetness. Cressida lets out an appreciative moan as Ashton eats her out energetically. She’s desperate to put her hands in his hair but the restraints remind her she can’t. She’s going to have marks, but she doesn’t care. Ashton moans then slips in a finger.
He edges her like this until the bottle is nearly empty. She’s wet and sticky—from the wine and her own body—and Ashton presses the bottle to her mouth.
“Drink the rest, so next time you drink his wine with him, you’ll think of me.”
He tips it back and she drinks the rest of the wine, it dribbles down her chin, staining her already red lips. Ashton tosses the bottle to the carpet and crushes his mouth to hers. Cressida cries out in joy, grinding her hips against his silently begging for release.
“You put on a good show,” he sighs, “ready for the grand finale?”
“Give it to me, Daddy.”
In flashes Ashton’s clothes are removed. He presses into her easily, hips driving into her like a pendulum. Their bodies staining from the wine. Cressida cries out from intense pleasure. The bindings. The wine. Ashton’s cock driving in and out of her. Her denied orgasms roll into one large one that she can’t even cry out his name. Ashton stains her belly again and they try to catch their breath.
“Now that was a show,” she huffs and nudges the top of his head with her nose. He lifts his head, his lips and chin stained red.
“You played well,” he smirks kissing her.
“Can you untie me? I want to touch you,” she whines yanking on the restraints for effect.
Ashton grunts in response connecting his lips to hers once more and lifts his arm up. In one quick movement, the restraints are loose, and her arms fall heavily onto the bed. She moans at the release but can’t lift her arms quite yet.
“It’ll take a few moments for the blood to rush back,” Ashton informs her. He sits up rubbing his thumbs over the red markings on her wrists. “Are you in pain?” he asks, eyes soft and full of concern.
“No,” she smiles. “A little worn out, yeah, but I’m never in pain when I’m with you, Ash.”
When the blood is flowing in her arms again, she’s starting to feel the tightness in them while she lays on top of Ashton in the bath. The water swirls red from the wine. His middle finger runs up and down her spine and her body feels like jelly. It’s a welcomed heaviness of bliss and satisfaction. When her head has come down from the clouds, she wonders something.
“Are we cheating on them, Ash?” she asks quietly. His finger pauses in the middle of her back and he sighs heavily.
“It’s not cheating when it’s not real.”
She lifts her head and gives him a sad look. “We aren’t real?”
Ashton cups her cheeks in his large hands.
“No, you and I are very real, Cressida. I have no feelings for Lucinda, she knows this is all publicity. She’d rather be a bachelorette forever. She’s silver and you’re gold. I love you and only you.”
That’s the first time he’s ever told her that. She assumed love was off the table for them, but she’s loved him since that first night they met in the bar.
“I love you, too,” she smiles, surprised at the tears filling her eyes from the overwhelming emotion.
“You’re the best thing I’ve ever had.”

Hades Voice Actor Logan Cunningham On Finding His Voice, His Favorite Performances, And The Characters That Influenced Him
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/hades-voice-actor-logan-cunningham-on-finding-his-voice-his-favorite-performances-and-the-characters-that-influenced-him/
Hades Voice Actor Logan Cunningham On Finding His Voice, His Favorite Performances, And The Characters That Influenced Him
During our trip to Supergiant Games for our Hades II cover story, we had a chance to speak with one of the studio’s original seven employees and its principal voice actor, Logan Cunningham.

Foolishly Intelligent
Based on this request: I love your imagines! I would like to request a Sherlock imagine if that’s alright? Something along the line of the reader being Mycroft’s and Sherlock’s far younger sister. She tries to connect with her brothers but often feels left out. She started in her teens by Learning everything about murders, investigation and politics in order to find common ground with her brothers. Ad an adult this leads to her being part of Scotland Yard and always giving Greg an heart attack due to jumping into dangerous situations. He’s had enough and decides after one close call too many to involve her big brothers to chew her out.
Here you are! *Familiar Characters are NEVER mine!*
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Warnings: Angst, arguing, Caring big brothers that pretend not to care because one is a high-functioning sociopath and the other is Mycroft XD, mentions of possible crush??
Pairings/Characters: fem!reader, brother!Sherlock Holmes, brother!Mycroft Holmes, Greg Lestrade
Greg Lestrade had had it. You were a wonderful detective, that much was true, but you had a bad habit. You liked to put yourself in dangerous situations ALL. THE. TIME! You would often quite literally throw yourself into harm's way to get the job done or to protect others. Greg normally wouldn't say anything even though it gave him a near heart attack every time. But since learning of Sherlock's fake death, it had become worse.
The man could sort of understand where you were coming from. You had big shoes to fill with your brothers being who they were. Even as a child, you'd had trouble connecting with them. You had gone out of your way to learn and do things to help your relationship. And it wasn't that they didn't love you or respect you. It was that they could often have full conversations just through a look or that they would play their little deduction games and you would feel left out.
You'd told Greg, after having a few drinks one night, that you had been trying since your teens to connect with Sherlock and Mycroft. You were just as intelligent as they were so you began learning about murder, investigations, and even politics from an early age. Still, nothing seemed to help you connect with them. You'd even joined the Yard to spend more time with Sherlock.
But this last time was one too many for Greg. You had nearly died and the DI had a soft spot for you. In fact, you were the only Holmes the man could stand being around for more than a few minutes at a time. He didn't think he could take it if you kept running head-on into danger, but he knew you wouldn't listen to him. So, as he sat there next to your hospital bed waiting for you to wake up, he contemplated who you would listen to. There were only two people that popped into his head.
With a soft sigh, Greg stood and left your room to make a call. "Hello, Gavin. Has there been a murder?" Greg pinched the bridge of his nose. He couldn't lose his temper now. "No, Sherlock." Sherlock scoffed on the other end of the line. "Boring. If you've nothing interesting to offer me, I'll say goodbye now."
"WAIT!" Greg shouted, then a little more softly added, "Your sister's in hospital." For a moment, there was only silence. Then Sherlock spoke again, "Watson, call Mycroft. St. Bart's?" Greg confirmed and was promptly hung up on. You were going to hate him when you woke, but at least your brothers might be able to talk some sense into you.
Sherlock burst through the doors a little while later, with Mycroft sauntering in a few moments after. "Would someone care to explain why I have been dragged from an important meeting?" Mycroft asked, prompting Greg and John to glare at the younger Holmes brother. "You didn't tell him?!" Greg hissed before turning to Mycroft, "Long story short, your sister's here. She decided to go into a hostage situation, alone, with no sidearm." Mycroft's brows furrowed briefly before a look of pure rage came over his features for a moment.
"And you didn't stop her?" Greg opened his mouth, but it was Sherlock who answered, "Oh please, Mycroft. Y/N would never listen if the lives of others are in danger. Not to Gordon anyway." Greg once again rolled his eyes. Would that man ever call him by his actual name?
"He's right. She doesn't listen. She's always throwing herself into situations like this. I thought, when she wakes up, the two men she looks up to the most could talk some bloody sense into her. Maybe then she'll listen." Both Holmes brothers merely stared at the DI, causing him to huff and walk away with John at his heels. He couldn't deal with them any longer for the moment. He needed to return to your side.
Just his luck, you were already awake when he pushed the door open. "Inspector," you greeted tersely. You had seen John behind him so you knew Sherlock wasn't far behind. "Don't look at me like that, Detective." You scoffed. "Like what? Like you betrayed my trust by calling them in? I know they're here. Might as well bring them in so I can hear all about how disappointed Mummy will be." Greg's brows furrowed in confusion. "Y/N…I just want you to be safe. Your brothers do too."
"Oh? Which brothers? The one who chucks himself off a building and pretends to be dead for 2 years? Or the one who knows about it and says nothing? Or the ones who refuse to let me into their lives, no matter how hard I try? I know I'm not brilliant like they are, but I try, dammit. And this is the only time I ever seen them away from home. When I'm in hospital."
"Fine," Greg soothed, "Fine. Don't talk to them. I don't care. But you have to stop being so reckless and stupid, Y/N. For my sake." Greg gaze your hand a little squeeze before leaving the room and allowing your brothers to walk in. For a moment, you said nothing, watching the space Greg had just been occupying. You were trying not to cry. Your brothers didn't do well with hysterics.
"Sherlock. Mycroft," you said. "Look at me, Y/N." You sighed softly. You knew you weren't exactly acting like an adult at the moment. That would get you nowhere with them. You swung your (e/c) eyes over to them. Sherlock stood with his hands in the pockets of his coat while Mycroft stared intently at you. They were both trying to deduce something about you. "Stop it," you ordered sharply, "Stop trying to deduce me and just ask me the question you want to ask." They exchanged a glance before turning back to you.
"Inspector Lestrade informed us that you threw yourself in harm's way yet again." You shrugged a bit. "I would again too. There were children in there. The elderly." Sherlock let out a scoff. "And that makes it okay for you to be so monumentally stupid?"
"I'm NOT stupid! Just because I'm not as callous as you are doesn't mean I'm an idiot, Sherlock! God, now I see the problem. It was never my fault we never connected. It was yours. You never tried." Your brothers stared at you in surprise. You had never spoken to them that way before. You rolled your eyes and groaned when your head began to hurt again.
"Just go. Both of you. You can tell John and Inspector Lestrade that they are welcome here. I don't want to see you two again for a while." You turned your head away from them both, indicating that you were done with the conversation. You heard them open the door to leave. "Oh, and don't you dare call Mummy. I'll tell her myself when I know I'm alright." Neither of them said anything, but left the room.
When you heard the door close behind them, you let a few tears finally fall. You hadn't wanted to blow up at them and you'd mostly likely end up apologizing later, but for now you were upset. You didn't have long to stew in your anger though before the door opened again. You turned to look and sighed. "I thought I told you to go."
"And we did. You failed to specify just how long you consider to be a 'while'. We listened to what you said and now it is your turn to listen to us. Despite what you may think, you are no closer to 'connecting' with Mycroft or myself by running head-long into danger." You arched a brow at him. "Oh, you mean like you do?" Sherlock didn't look impressed, but you could see Mycroft trying not to smirk.
"The point, little sister, is that, in spite of everything, your welfare is important to us. We need to know that you are safe. The career you've chosen lessens that likelihood, but deliberately putting yourself in situations where you could die destroys our hope for it completely."
"Oh gee, Mycroft, you do care," you replied sarcastically. You let out another sigh, "Look, I'm sorry. I know you're right. Just…please. Please stop letting this be the only reason you even check in with me. I know I'm not like you two. I never have been, but stop shutting me out. Okay? If you can promise me that, then I will promise to try and be more careful. For Mother and Father's sake. And for Greg's." You tried not to let your face show any emotion. Nothing to give away anything.
"Who?" You laughed lightly while Mycroft arched a brow. "We will discuss that topic at another time. I suppose I can agree to your terms. Sherlock?" Sherlock's blue eyes met yours and he nodded. You smiled; a genuine smile for the first time since they walked in the room. "Good. Now could you please leave? I'd really like to sleep now that I've been yelled at by both my brothers and my boss."
They opened the door again and you sat up. "Oh, and seriously. Don't tell Mummy." With a chuckle, your brothers left and you laid back to get a little more rest. Mycroft and Sherlock nodded at Greg when they exited the room, knowing he'd heard everything anyway. Greg breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully things would get better now. Greg looked in at you and smiled when you gave him a tiny wave.
(a/n: I hope this does your request justice!)

Hi, nice to meet you!
As a fellow Gavin stan, I found your analysis quite interesting and I'm very happy that someone finally understand the other side of our ginkgo boy... Idk whether you play in CN server or MLQC. I'm just curious, what do you think of Gavin in S2? Because I hear that everything is gonna be different. Also, the latest main story in CN server--do you think the story will be more angst?
Thank youu..
Waiting for more analyzes from you ❤
Dear Anon,
Thank you very much for your kind words and I’m also happy to meet you ^_^
Please excuse my belated answer. I waited specifically for cheri’s translation of the S2 CH11, so that I could give you a worthy answer <3
I play MLQC, because I don’t understand Chinese (yet), so I am following @cheri-translates on a daily basis for the season 2 material. (Thank you cheri, you’re the best! (ɔˆ ³(ˆ⌣ˆc) )
From what we get so far, Gavin shows some differences in his aura and character in S2 due to two main reasons:
1) He didn’t have the extreme teenage drama from S1 (except for his mother’s passing)
2) He and MC were companions during high school, so their relationship has a healthier fundament.
The events of the second season take place in a “parallel universe”, therefore MC’s relationships vary from those in S1. But also the Loveland City they are in is a different one, with different players but also different villains. So things DO change in S2 in general.
What do I think about Gavin in S2?
I - AM - IN - LOOOOOOOVVVEEEE - WITH - HIM!!! <3 <3 <3
Gavin was the main reason I watched the anime and downloaded the game in the first place. He was a very caring, understanding, talented and *ehm extremely good looking guy. He still is btw. This guy has a very big heart and is the most human among all LIs if you ask me. But sometimes I had the feeling in S1, that he wasn’t reaching to his full potential. His love for MC was at times awkward, mainly because he doubted himself a lot and was underestimating himself in many topics with regards to MC. His past with his father and brother was also weighting on him big time. Thus affecting his actions to a great extent. Gavin’s potential was bound by ball and chains and he didn’t seem to be able to free himself from them. And yet, he was a resilient guy, who made peace with his past, always finding the love&faith in his heart and following his own path. Those unnecessary insecurities caused by his experiences were Gav-babe’s downside in S1.
In the second season, we meet a very self confident Gavin who doesn’t get worked up in front of MC easily, let alone shy away from her. On the contrary, Gavin is teasing MC shamelessly and even toys around with her as he lets her hover over the ocean. Would you ever think that S1 Gavin would dare to do that? :D He interrogates her just for the kicks even though he doesn’t suspect her one bit, or asks her if he should detain her, since she looked like she was asking for it (I really recommend you to read the scene in CH11). Gavin is carefree towards MC and this makes him unbelievably attractive. Sure, I was surprised at first as I saw him immobilizing MC after meeting her for the first time after many years and was afraid, that he would be hostile towards her. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case...so far.
In S1, Gavin and MC were already in a harmonious relationship and were moving forward side by side gradually. But they were also having difficulties in terms of protecting each other from harm’s way and hiding their dangerous missions or wounds from each other. Which didn’t go along with a healthy relationship, even though they came a long way by the end of the S1. Plus, their positions weren’t even equal in respect of being a couple since Gavin was quite the simp and was insecure at times about his interactions with the MC. There was a teenage Gavin in him, who was telling him that he wasn’t good enough for her, that he is useless, that he is worthless. Therefore he always had his gloves on, so the speak.
These insecurities are downed to a minimum in S2 and Gavin no longer has the self loathing inner thoughts, so it feels as though, he is the real Gavin. The Gavin who he could be, he should be. Up to this point (S2 CH11). I feel like we are watching a Gavin who’s reached, or is reaching, to his full potential.
In S2, we see him co-operating with MC right from the beginning with little reluctance at first, which is natural since -you know- they are working for the opposing sides. But then we saw in CH11, that they make one hell of a team! In all honesty, Gavin and MC don’t even need to talk to each other to understand what the other thinks. We witnessed many times in S1 when they were thinking/saying/doing the same thing at the same time. But this time, they are aware of the fact that they can see through each other without words. Moreover, they banter with each other by calling one another out. Which is mostly Gavin calling her out btw. This almost flirt-like sweet bantering makes their interaction all the more titillating to me. The chemistry between them is very evident and Papergames makes sure to let us producers know, the attraction is mutual and on equal grounds. Maybe its only my opinion, but I find S2 Gavin way more sexier than the Version 1.0. But its probably because I find self-confidence to be the sexiest trait a person can have.
On a side note, Gavin also doesn’t display jealousy as in S1 and I believe this also has to do with his self confidence. Jealousy is an emotion which arouses from lack of self-confidence and trust. And the level of trust Gavin and MC share in S2 is off the charts, dare I claim.
One might even say, that the tables have turned in S2. MC has her memories from S1 whereas Gavin has started having flashbacks or dreams about their past just recently. Because of that MC already carries her romantic feelings from S1, she is the one with denser emotions in the new chapters and is rather insecure in front of Gavin. Thus making herself vulnerable for his “toying sessions”. Gavin on the other hand is beginning to explore his heart’s desires towards MC only piece by piece. He cares a great deal about her and is drawn to her inevitably, but can’t quite put his finger on it. His body and soul is already reacting to her, but his mind is a little bit slow on this front. But as stated in R&S “Inevitable”, his heart is destined to get drawn to hers.
Whether the story is going to get angstier...Let’s not fool ourselves, Papergames has the word angst in block letters carved in marble in their office. So yeah, I am pretty sure that the story is going to get angstier. But I haven’t seen anything as angsty as in S1 CH13, 14, 15, 18. Those chapters were really hard to read, but let’s wait and see.
Another important point about Gavin’s character in S2 is related to his position. He is now the Commander of the STF and therefore carries a heavier responsibility than in S1. We see in every chapter how strategically he is acting and picking the best option in which nobody gets hurt. He is still a maverick and does things in his own way and yet he is now well aware of the fact that each of his actions are affecting great numbers of people. With his subordinates he shares special bonds all the while keeping them disciplined and whatever he does, he prioritizes everybody’s safety equally (only with MC as an exception). Of course, this was one of his strengths also in S1, but in S2, he can have a bigger impact, since he has more resources to do so. He has become the perfect leader.
Which can be tied to his balanced temper. In S1 there were times, where Gavin wasn’t able to control his Evol and caused mayhem. We haven’t seen any uproar like this in S1 so far. Gavin is in control of his Evol, his emotions and his blushes...hih...well... almost. But he certainly blushes much less in S2.
So to sum it up, yes, Gavin is different in S2, but in all the good ways and I couldn’t find anything that goes in the wrong direction so far. We have a more mature, confident and experienced Gavin in S2 and I can simply say:
AMEN
I hope my answers can help you with your questions and you can always feel free the contact me if you have any questions...be it anonymously or not.
