Want to know if any other Destiel shippers feel like this:
You love SPN, for the most part. When you watched it originally, you were super invested in every character and looked forward to all the crazy things the show was doing. It felt like such an ensemble cast of interesting people--and now the most meaningful part of the show for you is Destiel.
This is how I feel about SPN now. I really wish that wasn't the case, but as I'm rewatching it currently, with my sister (who is watching it for the first time), I'm realizing that I don't get supremely invested like I used to unless it's Destiel. I still adore many of the side characters, I still adore Sam and Eileen, Crowley, and Bobby--but Destiel became so important to me after the series ended. After taking some time away from the fandom because of how the series ended, I'm now realizing that the parts of SPN I find to be the most intriguing are the parts where I can see Dean and Cas growing to love one another.
I don't know if that's because I felt like the writing was letting Sam down for a long time for the last few seasons of the show or because the plotlines themselves were becoming shoddy--hell, maybe it's just because I was so jilted by how Cas was treated at the end of it all, but Dean and Cas's story is the only piece of SPN that can still grip my heart and my attention like it did the first time I watched it. The rest of the series is kind of in shadow for me (not that I don't still love the iconic episodes SPN has produced or still find Sam and Dean's most emotional moments lovely).
And because of that, I have no interest in doing a full SPN rewatch--not only now, but maybe ever. Each time I've found myself coming back to SPN over the years since it's end has been to only experience Cas and Dean's story once more. Which, to be fair to the non-shippers, does skew my perception of just how much Destiel was in SPN (though I am realizing with this rewatch with my sister that, though Destiel isn't in every piece of SPN's story, it is a significant part of it, especially in the later seasons). But I still love analyzing the two of them and figuring out what they were likely feeling and thinking during certain scenes and how those moments influenced the future of their relationship.
I don't have that spark of interest in anything else in SPN anymore. So, as angry as it probably makes a lot of people in the fandom, SPN has been whittled down to Destiel for me. Destiel looms over everything, and above all, SPN became a love story, in my eyes. I love Sam; I wish he'd had a clearer and better ending with Eileen. I wish he'd had more to do in the later seasons than he did because he is a super interesting character with interesting history--but the power of Dean and Cas's story is unmatched to me. I don't think I'll ever say my favorite part of SPN isn't the love story it accidentally created, but I'm still sad that this series that was such a huge part of my life can only make me excited through one avenue now.
Still, though, if I had to choose one thing to love about this series, seeing how Dean Winchester, the king of self-loathing, fell in love with Castiel, the angel who taught him how to believe, would be it.

did you say something about a Destiel+Chestervelle ending??? i’m so curious!
I DID!!! Okay, so it's basically a fork in the road type ending that could go either way.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not happy with the ending. This is just me trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Here are my feelings about the ending:
Tumblr media
Now that we got that out of the way.
So, there's Castiel's love confession in 15x18. However you interpret Dean's side of it, either way, Cas believed his feelings were unrequited.
Fast forward 2 episodes, and we learn in 15x20 from Bobby that Cas helped Jack design the new heaven. When Dean first woke up in heaven, what was there?
Tumblr media
Bobby, who was a father to him
Baby, his beloved car, his home
Harvelle's Roadhouse
Just those 3 things. It seems very significant to me that the Roadhouse is there, given it was destroyed at the end of season 2, 13 years ago. Why out of everywhere would this be a significant enough place for it to be waiting for Dean? Glad you asked! See, Cas was in 5x10, (in the same room, even) when Dean propositioned Jo on their last night on Earth. More importantly, Cas knows Dean's mind. He rebuilt him from the ground up as well as actually having been inside his mind.
So, as a Chestervelle shipper like myself, I believe that Cas would know how he feels about her. He'd know she was special, and being a hunter, she was the most feasible option for Dean to live happily ever after with.
So my theory is Castiel, thinking his love is unrequited, put Harvelle's Roadhouse there (with Ellen, Jo, and Ash inside) to give Dean the chance to be happy with someone, even if it's not him.
Now! Even if you don't agree with them ending up together, or them liking each other that way at all, you can see how Cas would think so either way. It's not unfathomable.
So, this is where we reach the fork in the road. It's up to you. Maybe Dean and Jo don't end up together, and Dean and Cas find each other and they end up together.
But no matter who you ship, I believe Harvelle's Roadhouse was there by Castiel's design.

i love your meta posts but i just feel so defeated with them saying ILY. The only shining thing for me is that it's so early in the season for a couple to say ILY, usually in the rules of TV Land saying ILY so quickly is not a good thing. But IDK I'm not positive atm at all.
Hi, Nonnie! Awww, trust me, I absolutely hear you. I admit, I felt the same watching the episode upon first watch, but when I went back and did a rewatch, seeing what the writers were actually going for, I felt so much better.
This season has not been easy by any means. There is a lot of angst and tension and build-up. We've lost characters that we're used to seeing (even if it's only temporarily) and see characters almost go a bit OOC. I know there was some concern because I think I read somewhere that Tim supposedly stepped away the beginning of this season to focus on Lonestar (I have no idea if this is true or not, but if it is, it kind of makes a bit more sense to the whole disconnected feel for a lot of things with the characters and the story). To me, this episode was the first time I felt like I got Bobby and Athena back. And we almost saw the 118 coming together as a well working unit again (and of course, as family).
I'm not quite sure what's going on behind the scenes, if it's either COVID still or people's schedules, but Karen has almost been reduced to a background prop, only coming forward when she's needed, Denny barely exists, Albert is completely MIA (I'm not sure if this is due to the Madney story line but I don't see why it should be? Since Albert was at a different firehouse and I'm assuming still talks to Buck?), and we have not seen Carla at all up to this point. Even Christopher, we've only seen for what 4 episodes total? Again, idk if something is going on behind the scenes but narratively speaking, it's very frustrating.
So I completely get how you feel, especially when it comes to Buddie and BT atm. Being an SPN veteran (and also a Destiel shipper), I too am gun shy about this whole thing. But one thing does give me hope and I would like to share it with you.
911 has had opportunity upon opportunity to rid themselves of Buddie in the story. If a new showrunner stepped up, even temporarily, they could have certainly kept Buddie at opposite ends (meaning figuratively, not physically) but instead they keep clashing their stories together in ways that Buddie not going canon at some point just doesn't make sense in the story. And I know some people say they're queerbaiting (a la SPN) but I disagree. Not only do we have a different show and different writers, but this show really does give excellent representation. I know some people were disappointed that we didn't get a Mavid kiss last episode, but I think that was due to the actors' comfort levels (I think more Rockamund than La Monde but I don't know that for sure), not the actual story. Some people were also worried with Mavid being a thing that they couldn't go there with Buddie or wouldn't because they already had an MLM relationship in the show. But now we see that Mavid was written out while also being given a happy ending (due to bts drama over Rockamund choosing not to get vaccinated apparently). So now, they're lacking in that representation. Over on Lonestar, Tarlos is one of the most popular ships, if not the most popular. Buddie is equivalent to that and the writers and Tim know it. And they know they could easily keep giving us emotionally angsty scenes with Buddie but what they're actually doing is taking their sides of the coin (because Buck and Eddie started out as two sides of the same coin) and are melting down each inch of that coin in order to lump it all together into one story. They have had chance after chance after chance to back off on Buddie, to begin to try to untangle this big knot of strings they've put together over the last two seasons, but they haven't. And my guess? They're not going to.
So hang in there, Nonnie. It is going to happen, I'm 99.9% sure of it. To me, after the rewatch, this ILY is nothing for either Buck or Taylor to write home about. Taylor means it, it's clear from her reaction after she says it. But look at Buck's reaction. Look at the 118 in the fire truck scene again, they're making the callback to the 5x02 scene where Buck tells Eddie that if he doesn't love Ana, he needs to end it. And Eddie knows that Buck is in the same position here, but he's not completely pushing it. Because the story isn't letting him, because the writers want Buck to figure this out for himself. Just like they wanted Eddie to figure it out for himself about Ana in the beginning of the season.
So either Buck and Eddie will have a similar scene coming up to the one from 5x02, where Eddie is blunt about it and Buck makes his decision soon after, or Buck will eventually figure it out on his own and make the decision himself. But Buck is not in love with Taylor, she's just the "woman" he's "wanted to spend this much time with since" Ali. I'm not saying he doesn't care about her, but he's not 100% passionately in love with her.
He's not smiling at her like this, even after that ILY:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only difference between he and Eddie right now is that Carla isn't there to tell him to follow his heart, and he isn't having panic attacks when imagining BT's future. There's a reason Bobby made the point that these types of relationships keep happening to him because he won't talk to the women he dates, and he just goes with the flow and ends up in a relationship before he knows what's happening. ;-)
Plus, it's no coincidence to me that coffee was used again as the prop in the same scene Buck beams at Eddie like that or mentions something he knows about Eddie (while not knowing everything about Taylor). Coffee has been used as a prop romantically in the show for Eddie (with Ana, think 4x06, 4x03 when Eddie was worried about receiving the Hildy coffee maker) and Buck (think 2x08 when he met Ali for their first date, when Abby first asked Buck out in 1x02 I think it was) both before.
It's coming, Nonnie. It's just taking its sweet time unfortunately. But I think they're pacing it and doing it as well as they can so when it finally does happen, it's organic, it makes sense, and it's right. And the naysayers can all keep from having a bitch fit. (well, at least some of them anyway lol)
Hang in there, Nonnie, and thank you for the kind words!!! I hope you have a lovely rest of your night!!! <3

Never thought I'd say this but I'm calling out some Destiel shippers:
1. As much as I love Destiel and think it is important, it is not the MAIN plot of S15. The main plot was to end God's reign of terror. Ofc that's gonna come first. I think some people here are too focused of Destiel to see the bigger picture.
2. While ofc Castiel's loss is horrible and heart breaking, LITERALLY EVERYONE ON EARTH WAS GONE. That amount of death all at once is insanity. Cas wasn't the only person in Dean's life that died.
3. They had the weight of the literal world on their shoulders. The boys were trying their best to do anything they could to save the world. Mad props to them being able to put their emotions aside in order to come up with a plan to defeat Chuck for good. If they had just sat around and moped, everything would have been over. Not to mention the fact that Dean canonically was willing to die along with Sam so CAS IN PARTICULAR could come back (noticed how he mentioned Cas by name instead of including him with the rest of the world, it shows that Cas means a lot to Dean). Whether it's platonic or romantic, Dean LOVES Cas.
4. Sam had to watch Bobby, Charlie, and a bunch of other people he cared about die infront of him. To only focus on Dean's feelings is extremely invalidating what Sam went through.
5. With the world basically ending and knowing the chances of you dying are pretty high, I'm not surprised Castiel's confession wasn't the main thing on Dean's mind. We definately see Dean is affected by Castiel's loss though. Dean had SO MUCH to process in such a short time, cut him a bit of slack.
6. Some of y'all are bitching already when we still have one full episode left WHILE the main plot has already been resolved. Now that Dean has some peace for the first time in forever, he can begin to process the confession. Let's see what the REAL final episode has to hold before we judge.
I could go on more but these are my main points. Some of y'all need to calm down and stop getting angry about a story that isn't fully over. We have one more episode, let's try to enjoy ourselves for one last time.
Note: Now if Cas doesn't come back next episode... Then we can burn down a city. But that's another story.

had really horrendous destiel brainrot today for some reason and all I could think about was this completely ridiculous crack concept that kept making me laugh hysterically while I was supposed to be working.
so basically i just started s12 of SPN and am amusing myself greatly by imagining that Mary is like [looking eyes emoji] at Dean Cas interactions and I was like...imagining her trying to talk to Dean about it like "Oh so...Castiel seems like a very nice angel...very...handsome" and how Dean would react to that and I realized that, oh my god, Dean's denial is so deep and vast that he'd just be like Oh Wow. Mom...is in Love With Cas.
like just...imagining Dean...trying to parent trap Cas and Mary...his denial working overtime to convince himself that This Is Good and he totally wants this to happen. He's like, well, Mom is perfect of course, and Cas is...CAS, he's so you know, Great, so for them to be together is perfect and right and the way it should be. They Deserve To Be Happy.
Sam is like You Are DEPRAVED. Are you POSSESSED. And Dean is like, Sammy, don't worry, it's not like Cas could ever replace Dad of course and Sam is just [screams internally] THAT IS NOT MY CONCERN hERE!
(but also just a tiny bit it is and there is like a teeny one percent part of him that's like DID YOU FUCK MY MOM CASTIEL.)
And Cas and Mary who...like each other fine, but are Not in love with each other are just like. completely mystified like literally have no capacity to understand what is occurring even though Cas HAS in fact seen The Parent Trap (Lindsay Lohan and Mary Kate and Ashley version, of course, b/c Cas exclusively has trashy taste in television and I love that for him). like they walk into the bunker one day and there's like candles and rose petals everywhere and Dean serves them pasta and then flees and they just. stare at each other. Mary's like. Do you even eat. And Cas is like. No.
like whenever dean talks to either of them he's like, Wow, Cas doesn't mom look great today? and poor Cas is just like "what." like NOTHING in his life has prepared Castiel to answer the question of whether a 30 year old human woman who is the mother of the man he's in love with "looks great today." Dean keeps being like SO Mom isn't Cas GREAT and Mary is internally like He's Fine but wants to encourage her son and unfortunately I'm pretty sure they didn't have PFLAG in 1970s Lawrence Kansas so she's always just like OHH YEAH he's great! He's the best! Love when he uh stabbed that demon the other day. That was uuhhhhhh very uhhhhhhhhhhhhh s-sexy? And Dean is like AHA PROOF while simultaneously feeling like he is going to die and Sam is in the background like. did you fuck my mom castiel.
*side note but Cas is genuinely sad and hurt like a little lost puppy that Sam is suddenly being lowkey very cold to him. He misses his buddy :(
[am imagining Kevin and Charlie and Bobby and Rufus up in heaven watching all of this and eating popcorn. No I know they never met alive BUT. hear me out. bestie squad. Charlie of course is a Destiel shipper. Obviously. Kevin doesn't so much ship it as view it as simple fact. annoying fact. every time Dean or Cas does something ridiculous he yells and throws popcorn. Bobby at first is like "what? no" but after three hours alone with Charlie he's fully Team Destiel. Rufus is merely there for the laffs. They have bets going on the outcome, Charlie is all-in on this ending with Dean and Cas kissing, Kevin is like no, they'll nEVER work it out, they're tOO DENSE.]
at some point Crowley and Rowena get dragged in for elaborate shenanigans of course and Rowena is like "Wait but isn't that poor wee angel in love with y-" and then Crowley kicks her and hisses "Don't RUIN this for me!!!" all of which Dean conveniently fails to notice even though it happens like two feet away from him. Crowley like, genuinely doesn't know what he wants to happen here and of course is very conflicted what with the, you know, HISTORY between him and both of them (what history? you mean when you pathetically pined over both of them and then they both rejected you? Rowena says rudely) but ALSO he desperately wants to see any and all ensuing chaos and fallout.
eventually it does all dramatically falls out and Mary is like WHAT the fuck is a parent trap (the first movie came out in the '60s but she did not see it) and Cas is like. Mary Kate and Ashley or Lindsay Lohan and Dean is like oh obviously Lindsay Lohan and Sam is having a very small quiet seizure so no one notices. and then like a week later Dean is like Wait Cas are you pissed at me? and Cas is just [screams internally] how could you think that I'm in love with your MOTHER instead of--- and dean is like [totally not having a panic attack] instead of who? and Cas is like very quiet you know who and Dean is like even more quiet who
and anyway long story short, Charlie takes the whole pot up in heaven.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CVIII
It was a love story from the very beginning
Another Destiel Separation
(12x23)
Hello my friends and welcome to the last meta from season 13!
I would love to see the script from this episode because I always said they robbed us the goodbye scene between Cas and Dean, but well...
Let's start...
Mary and Bobby, Destiel mirror and the calm before th storm
First, we had a random werewolves hunt. In which we had a little of comedy and a sneak peek to what Jack's training is. Dean says it's a werewolves hunt and let the kid to answer they will need silver bullets. Just like a resident to his doctor in charge.
Team Free Will 2.0 working together with great results, is showing us the calm before the storm.
Jumping now to the scene between Mary and Bobby, we have here another Destiel mirror. With Mary (Dean) and Bobby (Castiel).
They come from different worlds, and once Boby starts to walk in this new universe, with Mary, he begins to embrace it. Just like Castiel did with humanity, asking in season 8 to be a hunter and to stay in Earth with Dean.
BOBBY: (...) Anyways...without an archangel, it's not like we can go back home. And I'm not sure I'd want to. I...I like it here.
We've been robbed: 1
Remember that scene in which Dean shows Sam so much faith on Jack (the faith that he took from Castiel) and thought about retirement? A happy ending? Yeah, let's cry here and struggle with the idea that we've been robbed...
DEAN: Hey, you remember...remember when you asked if we could stop it? All the evil in the world?
SAM: Yeah.
DEAN: If we could...really change things? Well, maybe with Jack, we can.
SAM: Maybe you're right. But then what will we do?
DEAN: Mm. Yeah. This. (Dean holds a beer he has been carrying and Sam looks down at his) A whole lot of this.
But on a beach somewhere, you know?
Can you imagine?
You, me, Cass, toes in the sand, couple of them little umbrella drinks. Matching Hawaiian shirts, obviously. Some hula girls.
SAM (scoffing) You talking about retiring? You?
DEAN: If I knew the world was safe? Hell, yeah. And you know why? 'Cause we freaking earned it, man.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dean thinks in a happy retirement with his brother and Castiel. Because this was in his heart. This was Dean's wish. And this should be his ending. He is the one saying it. They deserved that ending because they freaking earned it. Dean didn't mention Jack, because this is played as a foreshadow in which Jack will have a very important role to keep the world safe as Dean wants: Jack will be the new God.
The scene in which Jack has a nightmare and Dean goes to calm him down, we hear him talk about his own nightmares about people he couldn't save, this shows THE GUILT HERITAGE inside of him, and how this will lead him to say yes to AUMichael.
Jack follows Dean's toxic behavior
Jack goes to avenge Maggie's dead by his own, just like Dean did to face Loki. (Following Dean's toxic bwhat and not his advices).
Then we have Dean shooting at Jack by the back, as a foreshadow of how he will deceive Jack to out him inside the Ma'lak box in season 14.
The manipulative speech Lucifer gives to Jack is a parallel to the one that will give fem!AUMichael to Jack in episode 14x09. The words are similar: talks about power, their difference with humans, their supremacy over humans, and how they should be together to conquer the world because they're family.
The comparison with Star War Anakin, is to place doubts about Jack's future, because everyone knows Anakin turns into the dark side.
But then Sam praying to Jack (just like Dean to Cas) is showing us the faith Sam has on him too.
Jack revails Lucifer's true intentions and true self in a very spectacular show of his powers.
A Sacrifice for family love
Lucifer kidnaps Jack and Sam because he knows about their bond: Sam occupied in this season Lucifer's place as a father. Lucifer knows it and that's why he decided to took them with him and play a sadic game.
How Sam and Jack were willing to give their lives for each other is the same scenario of Dean giving his life and body to AUMichael to save them. Both sacrifies are for Love, FAMILY LOVE. As Michael will tell Sister Jo in 14x02.
The scenes are mixed between the church in which Jack and Sam are deliberating who will do the sacrifice and Dean about to offer his own life like the sword to Michael.
And Jack saying...
JACK: I love you. I love all of you.
Third time we see it int he show (Castiel and Mary in season 12), is telling us that had always been a family love confession. Just like Dean saying yes to Michael.

We've been robbed: 2
The scene in which Dean starts saying he is Michael's sword, is short but very meaningful. Castiel flicks his eyes to him surprised about the offer Dean is making to that monster. He tries to stop him but Dean feels he is trapped and he has to make that sacrifice for Jack and Sam.
The fandom were heartbroken by then about Castiel's feelings, and maybe writers should make it even more noticeable in the script: I'm talking about the fact that Castiel's fall was because he fought against Heaven's Orders, that implied DEAN SAYING YES TO MICHAEL. It means, he went against destiny and embraced free will, following Dean and looking at him as a role model.
He was really angry when Dean almost say yes in season 5, if you remember that scene, Castiel literally kicked Dean's ass.
But this Castiel is different from that one in season 5. He is against that decision but even so, he remains quiet, to a side, watching the man he loves and the one for who he left everything he was for millennials, being snatched by Michael from his side.
When Michael takes control of Dean's body, Castiel can sense it, because they're bonded.
But you know, I still feel there was a scene missing: the one in which Dean says goodbye to Cas. (And I really thought there would be a kiss scene erased there... I explained this here.)
This was another lovers separation, my friends... Sighs...
To Conclude
The last episode from this season was messy and sometimes confusing. It was written by Dabb, and he tends to do that.
In the middle of the messy plot, we can talk about Destiel parallel (Mary and Bobby)
Jack mirroring Dean's toxic behavior and another lovers separation.
Hope you liked this meta, see you in the next one!

A summary of what we know and what we don’t know
I decided to write down everything what I read the last days, because...well, I need to see it.
1. Jensen and Misha said goodbye when they shot 15.18. It was very emotional.
2. Misha didn’t say goodbye on social media, even he’s very active.
3. Jensen made a hint with the green- blue flanell. Also he did NOT mention Cas as dead. Also he said he liked purgatory!Dean the most (and we know what happened in purgatory).
4. Misha was in Vancouver when Jensen and Jared shot 15.19 and 15.20.  He wasn’t, I read a post some days ago but seems to be false information. I saw some pics and for me it’s clear he was there.
5. The picture of Misha with Robert Wisdom was shot before Covid. So it’s not a hint.
6. Dean did NOT NOT reciprocrate, he actually was overwhelmed by his feelings and the confession. He did not understand if Cas means actually love love or ‘I love you like I love burgers’. He didn’t know that Cas - an angel - can feel like humans. I think we can call him ‘in love with the angel’, it’s canon. Dean didn’t ask himself if he loves Cas, if he is bisexual, he already knew it. Case closed.
7. They cut some shots of the confession scene in 15.18. Jensen is happy about the result.
8. Jensen said he likes that everyone can interpret the scene on his own.
9. Misha confirmed Destiel as canon. BUT why did he do it? He is a Destiel shipper and he knows the fandom, and he knows that it was a one-sided love confession. He also tweeted it’s a homosexual love confession AND that everyone has to interpret it for themselves. What?!
10. Misha sent messages to fans with a NSWF picture. It’s Cas in an onion field. Well, we know Misha likes trolling around but he called it a ‘spoiler’.
11. The whiteboards of 15.20 are very interesting. The quotes and the songs could be a hint on Cas.
12. Dean and Sam will hunt some vampires in 15.20. They will be in a barn. So, what about an onion field outside of this barn? And Dean met Cas the first time in a barn.
13. The theory about the writer’s ending (= Chuck) is interesting. It means the next episode is controlled by other people. I appreciated Jensen and Jared, but also by the fans.
14. Also the theory about 15.20 to be an alternative ending for the fans is interesting. 15.19 was kind of an ending, with the review and the two brothers back on the road. Maybe it was the ending for the people who wanted them to be alone with baby. And the others get what they want in 15.20.
15. Eileen and Bobby are vanished and we don’t know anything what happened to them. Did they come back after Jack became god?
16. Eye- fucks, purgatory, the lamp. It’s canon that Dean loves Cas, so I won’t talk about this. But he has to say it.
17. In 15.19 Dean accepted his other side, a life of love. No anger anymore. But he’s not happy yet. Because he needs Cas. Because it’s not just the saying for Dean, it’s the having, because he never ever had something in his life (except Sam and the car).
18. The episode with Garth being a baby daddy was filled with hints on Deans future. He said he could be a good dancer when he saw Garth dancing with his wife. Also Dean danced with a lamp in this episode. The dance means a long- term relationship. Dean and Sam talked about it and they recognized that it would be the best to have a partner who understands the life of the hunters. Dean said to Sam he should take Eileen. So who’s Dean’s perfect partner?
19. Hints, I can’t count them. The meta in this season is deeper than the Mariana Trench. Dean is broken after Cas died, he can’t be happy without him. He wanted to force Chuck to bring him back even he wasn’t the reason for his death. He would have killed Sam for him!
20. The episode with Chuck and Becky was also a hint. Becky is shocked by the ending Chuck wrote for Supernatural. No mention of Cas! He vanished her and her family. He took away her family and she watched him. Dean also watched Cas disappear.
21. The parallels between Dean losing Cas, Sam losing Eileen and Charlie losing her girlfriend (Sorry, I forgot her name). Everyone lost their lover.
22. The plot of Chuck and Jack is completed. There’s nothing left to tell about except the love plot - what about Sam and Eileen? And Dean?
23. We know from the description of 15.20 that some familiar faces will come back and that the episode is about Dean and Sam’s personal story and about family. And Cas is family.
24. A love confession from Dean is NOT impossible. Maybe it’s not a kiss (even the actors wouln’t have a problem with it. They’re best friends and the’re touchy on stage so don’t tell me otherwise) but I think Dean needs to say it like Castiel did.
25. Dean wouldn’t stop thinking about Cas just because he died out of happiness. Dean always tried to bring him back, and he was traumatized when he wasn’t around him. Why would he stop?
26. Dean is able to write his own story now. We know he is comfortable with the idea of living an apple pie life, but he never had a relationship like that. Every relationship he had went wrong, for example Lisa. The only one who would fit into this role is Cas.
27. Chuck showed Sam some endings of their lives. Every of this futures ended bad for the boys. Who was missed in this futures? Cas, he was buried in the box because of the Mark.
28. Not a hint, but I saw a picture of the episode on Amazon Prime (I guess?) and Misha was listed as cast.
29. There are pictures (I only saw one but I believe the users there are more) of Cas, Dean and Sam with grey hair.  These were promo pics of 15.18, the grey hair was caused by the lightning.
Yeah, these are some things I remembered. I know there are a lot more of theories and hints I may have forgotten, so if you want to you can write them into the comments and I will add them to the list.
Cas will come back and Dean will tell him his feelings.

How to Make the Supernatural Series Finale Better:
Before we get started. I wrote this very quickly so there are probably spelling and grammar error, but I’s totally appreciate it if someone read it. It is a bit long though. Also, please note that I’m not a big shipper of any of the Ships on the show. Everything I highlight here makes the most sense to me as someone who loves all the characters and appreciates all the Ships. I give options for Destiel shippers and people who don’t ship it.
First, Let’s Start With What I Liked About It:
Dean got a dog (aka Miracle). In the past, we’ve seen Sam get attached to dogs, but Dean getting attached to one shows his emotional growth as a character. In the past, the idea of loving anyone other than family baffled Dean. Now Dean sees that he’s full of love (thanks to Cas) and can give it out more freely.
Jared and Jensen’s acting. While I don’t like that Dean died the way he did, the scene itself was beautifully acted and made me bawl my eyes out. I was also emotionally affected by Jared’s growing old montage (you could feel the grief in every scene). No matter what we think of the writing, we must tip our hats off to that acting. I personally believe that Jared’s only said this was one of his favorite episodes because of the emotional scenes between Sam and Dean and to try to make the fans feel better about the show edning.
The throwaway line about Castiel. While I would’ve like to have seen a lot more. It was a comfort to know he was with Jack and not in the Empty.
Heaven. I’m glad that we saw the original Bobby, and that we saw Sam and Dean Reunite in Heaven.
Now, What I Didn’t Like About the Finale:
Dean’s acceptance. Dean acting like he and Sam couldn’t fight for Castiel and not contacting Jack. (Just makes no sense.)
Dean’s death. Dean died way too young and without being able to enjoy his freedom.
Sam’s grief. Sam lived the rest of his knife with heavy grief. He never got over Dean’s death because Dean never got to truly live.
Eileen’s absence. They didn’t even show Sam using ASL for us to know if that was Eileen. What? (I’m just choosing to believe).
Where’s Miracle? The dog should have joined Dean in Heave.
Where’s Cas and Jack? Castiel and Jack should have had screen time.
A lacking reunion. There should have been a bigger heavenly reunion.
Bad aging. They struggled to age Sam, like what’s that about?
How the Episode Could Have Been 1000x Better:
Redirect focus. Instead of a weak monster of the week story, focus the final episode of Sam and Dean growing old and living their lives.
Sam and Dean’s story together before death. They hunt for several more years but then decide to settle down. They become the new Bobby’s and help other hunters out by answering calls and pitching in when needed. They schedule an annual hunting trip every year to relive the “good old days”. They live as neighbors (either beside each other or in the same neighborhood). They are a frequent part of each other’s lives. They make the Bunker a community place for hunters and take turns monitoring it.
Castiel’s story before death (with two options). Option one (the heterosexual option), Sam and Dean pray to Jack about Casitel. Jack comes and tells them Cas is helping him fix the mess Chuck left behind but that he’ll be along when he can. A few years later, Castiel and Jack visit the Winchesters (everyone hugs). Dean tells Castiel he loves him too, but doesn’t know how to love him romantically. Castiel says that’s okay, that it’s enough to just be loved by him at all. Castiel doesn’t fall in love with anyone else, he is only able to truly love Dean, he stays an Angel and is content with his life. Option two (the homosexual option), Sam and Dean pray to Jack about Casitel. Jack comes and tells them Cas is helping him fix the mess Chuck left behind but that he’ll be along when he can. A few months later, Castiel and Jack visit the Winchesters (everyone hugs). Dean tells Castiel that he loves him too, that he fills whole when Castiel’s in his life. He expresses worry about not knowing how to be sexual with a man. It makes him nervous to feel so virginal about it. They connect foreheads, Cas tells him that’s okay, they’ll figure it out and they do (a kiss isn’t necessary but I’m down with it). Castiel becomes human, Sam removes his grace and keep it safe in the Bunker. Dean and Castiel adopt a girl and give her the same name Mary Samantha Winchester.
Dean’s story before death (with two options). Option one (the heterosexual option), Dean opens up a bar where hunters come often (like the Roadhouse). He hangs up photos of all the people they’ve lost along the way. He has a kid with a woman he had a one-night stand with, they don’t love each other but they’re good friends. His child is a daughter, he names her Mary Samantha Winchester. Option two (the bisexual option), like above Dean, tells Castiel he loves him and that he’s nervous, but they figure it out. Dean tells Sam he’s bi and that he loves Cas, he’s nervous about what Sam will say, but Sam smiles and hugs him. He tells him he’s happy for the two of them and that he always felt they had a strong connection. Dean and Castiel have a small wedding, only their beautiful made family is invited. No one judged them, everyone is happy for them. Jack is there, so happy for two for his Dads (Sam’s story below). Castiel becomes human, Sam removes his grace and keep it safe in the Bunker. Dean and Castiel adopt a girl and give her the same name Mary Samantha Winchester.
Sam’s story before death. Sam and Eileen get together, get married, and have the same son (because I’m choosing to believe that was her). Jack is also at their wedding and so happy for them. They name him Robert Dean Winchester and call him Bobby. Sam goes back to school, becomes a professor of mythology and tells his students “made up” stories about two brothers who fought all kinds of monsters. Some of his students secretly think he's a big Supernatural (the books) fan, but all his students like him. They think he’s warm and quirky.
Jack’s story. Jack sees Sam, Dean, and Cas weekly to monthly for several years. There comes a point where the system he creator works well on it’s on and needs little interference, He lives his life helping as many people as he can and spending time with his family. Dean tells him he is a part of their family and apologizes for ever saying otherwise. Sam, Cas, And Dean all at some point call him Son and Jack feels like he belongs. (Maybe he falls in love at some point, with an angel or a witch?) He remains a good God became of the love he learned from the Winchesters and Cas (who is also a Winchester damn it). He restores all the other worlds/dimensions, the people from Apoloaypse world go back they ask that he heal the world but not change their fates, they like who they are now and the families they’ve formed. We see Charlie/Stevie and Bobby happy in this world. Kevin is sent to Heaven. We see how Jack made a deal with the Empty, he put her to sleep and made the Empty quite again before he got Cas (which she agreed to). Jack restores Donatello’s soul.
Chuck’s story. Chuck lives as a human for the rest of his life, many of those years are miserable until he meets someone that makes him feel true love for the first time. He writes a letter to Sam and Dean apologizing for everything and thanking them for turning him human. The author becomes a character in his favorite story, and he’s so happy he has no say over the end.
Amara’s story. Amara wishes to be human, so Jack makes her a human vessel but keeps her powers (which she agrees to). She lives out a beautiful life filled with love and luxury. Chuck write to Amara too. She does eventually forgive Chuck, not because he deserves it, but because that just who she is.
Dean’s death (with two options). Option one (the heterosexual option), Dean does die on a hunting trip in his late 50s to 60s, he gives Sam the same beautiful speech and they share the same emotional intensity (and head touch). He goes to heaven, Bobby and Miracle are there to greet him. They have the same conversation and he goes on a drive. On the drive he runs into Castiel, they have a heart to heart before he goes on to find Sammy. Option two (the bisexual option), the same as before BUT, Sam calls Castiel first. Castiel gets there in time to say goodbye. Jack does come down, but with Dean’s declining health, he tells Jack he’s ready to go. They all respect his decision and say goodbye. He goes to heaven, Bobby and Miracle are there to greet him. They have the same conversation and he goes on a drive. On the drive he runs into Castiel, and say’s “it’s about time” but it didn’t feel that long to Dean. They embrace tearfully.
Castiel’s death (with two options). Option one (the heterosexual option), he doesn’t die. He stays an Angel. Option two (the homosexual option), after Dean dies on a hunting trip he moves in with Sam and Eileen. We see him struggle with grief, he cries beside Baby and sniffs Dean's clothes. He lives another five years and dies of cancer. When he arrives in Heaven, he’s on a highway, and Dean drives up to him in Baby and say’s “it’s about time” but it didn’t feel that long to Dean. They embrace tearfully.
Eileen’s death.  Eileen dies a few months before Sam of old age (aka heart failure). She goes to heaven, Dean and Castiel find her on their drive. They welcome her into the car with smiles.
Sam’s death. We do see a montage of scenes with Sam struggling with grief. He does break down in the Impala, he cries into Cas’ trench coat, and he hugs Eileen's pillow as he cries. His son is there and his niece to support him through it. Sam dies a few months after Eileen. His son Bobby, and niece Mary, come in and Bobby says goodbye like in the show, but before Sam fades away he see’s Jack in the back of the room (his first son) and he knows everything is going to be okay. He goes to heaven, Dean, Castiel, and Eileen meet him on the road. They all have an individual tearful moment together. Sam and Dean have an intense hug, Sam and Cas hug, Eileen and Sam kiss, and he pets Miracle. They get into the car and drive.
Heaven. Heaven is changed as Bobby said, Jack and Casitel did good. (yes, John is there, he’s an ass, but the boys would want him there for some reason). The four of them drive up to the Roadhouse to find Bobby and Jack waiting outside. Jack tells them every one is waiting, Bobby says “family don’t end with blood”, they open the doors for them, and we see everyone they lost along the way in the Roadhouse: John, Mary, Ellen, Jo, Ash, Charlie, Kevin, etc (literally everyone except maybe Crowley and Rowena because IDK how that would work?). Castiel, Eileen, Jack, and Bobby walk inside. Dean takes Sam by the shoulder. Dean says, “we did good” and Sam says “yeah, want to go have some chick flick moments?”. Dean laughs and says, “I love chick flicks.”, and Sam laughs and says “I know you do” and they join their family. We get a scene of them all reunited with “Carry on My Wayward Son” playing in the background. Fade to black.
Anyway, that’d how I think they could have made the finale better while still using the basic structure the created. So yeah, I’m heartbroken. Thanks for reading.

I know other people have said it in better words but I really don’t understand how that finale was good. Ok bear with me. Yes I’m a destiel shipper but Cas not being in the episode and the confession not being acknowledged in any way aren’t even in my top 5 reasons for what I hate about the finale. I don’t even know if they’d make it into my top 10.
We had a bunch of episodes before the extended break due to Covid happened where Sam kept having dreams of Chuck’s ideas for how Sam and Dean die, usually by one killing the other, in other universes. And then in the episode with Becky, she talks about how sad and hopeless the ending Chuck writes is and there is this positive light put on how in her own fanfics, Sam and Dean are often just at the bunker doing regular things like bonding while folding laundry. And in the end, Dean dies and Sam lives the rest of his life with this deep sense of unhappiness without any of the other hunters and friends he’s made in the last few years that could help him and provide him some kind of emotional support. He’s just kind of going through the motions before he dies it seems like. And Dean just dies and goes to heaven and basically waits for Sam to die and show up. And as someone who, while I’ve never attempted suicide, became very depressed from around middle school because of constantly being in a space where I was told my sexuality meant I was going to Hell and wondered if maybe the only way I could escape that deep unhappiness and loneliness I was feeling was in death? The idea that death is the only release and the only time where you can achieve true happiness is horrifying.
Dean has always had scenes, even episodes built around him wanting to live some kind of apple-pie life and believing it’s something he can never have. Dean has always tried to provide for Sam and make sure Sam has what he never could, including Sam having an apple pie life. Dean always believed he was going to die young and while on some level some of that had to do with him being a hunter, it also had to do with his own issues of self worth. Why couldn’t Dean realize and accept that after all the horror and bullshit he’s dealt with, he does want to grow old and live an apple pie life and be happy and be better? Why couldn’t Dean have some version of an apple pie life? Not even with Cas, just some version? I don’t think anyone would’ve like Dean having a blurry wife, but Dean just owning a bar that becomes the Roadhouse 2.0 where he gets to see the Wayward Sisters and AU Bobby and AU Charlie every few weeks? Why couldn’t Dean examine why he’s become an increasingly worse person and realize he needs help? That would’ve been nice.
Sam seems to want it at first only because he wants to be normal and then realizes that not only is he really good at hunting, but he actually enjoys it, maybe even more than Dean, and he steps into this leadership position later. He still wants a relationship (I will never forget you Eileen. You are an awesome character and its horrible that when very little deaf and hard of hearing representation exists and you were shown as not only a serious love interest but an amazing independent hunter who realizes her revenge won’t bring her happiness and continues to find her happiness after revenge only to be brushed aside and ignored). However, it seems like if he did it would’ve been way more integrated into his hunting life. Because having a family and hunting aren’t mutually exclusive. Bobby and Karen would’ve had children but couldn’t. Jo lived a happy loving childhood with Ellen and her father until John used her father as bait, and Ellen continued to love Jo and tried to get her to leave hunting for her safety. Jody takes care of 3 teenage girls who are either active hunters or want to be involved in some way. Why couldn’t Sam be a leader and in a relationship? Why couldn’t Sam have a wife and child like he wanted, except him having a family is not because he’s chasing a sense of normalcy but because he actually wants one?
These were things the two of them wanted but doubted they could have. In a world where a god is no longer controlling you, a conventionally attractive middle aged white man with access to large amounts of money and many issues they want to work through but haven’t been able to because of multiple apocalypses, what else do you have stopping you from pursuing the things you want other than yourself?
Now I know there are a lot of fans who didn’t like that the show centered less on Sam and Dean’s relationship. Yes, the show, at least in the first 5 seasons, was exclusively centered around Sam and Dean. The last 5 haven’t been though. Yes, the show went through many different directors in the 10 seasons after it was originally supposed to end and that is why. The last 5 seasons still have Sam and Dean’s family slowly extending, even when they seem to become shittier people. I’m not saying the last episode shouldn’t have focused on Sam and Dean’s relationship because that was the original centerpiece of the show and remained one of the key features. But why did it seem like they could only be happy when they were dead in heaven even when the two of them still have things they need to work out.
Even if the last episode wanted to exclusively focus on the two of them, why couldn’t we see them actually have a time where they’re alive and doing this? Supernatural starts as a show with two fucked up brothers and ends with those same brothers killing the god they realize has orchestrated almost every aspect of their and are now trying to learn what a life free of control means. Why couldn’t the last episode have them actually sit down and reflect on the people they’ve lost throughout their 15 years together? Why not have them discuss how horrible they’ve been to each other over those years, keeping secrets, gaslighting each other, intentionally doing things to harm each other, and deciding to end the cycle of trauma from both sides of their family by seeking help or maybe indefinitely separating themselves, realizing that they have the ability to bring out the best and worst in each other?
I would prefer much happier endings, but if we were continuing with the idea of kind of a return to the beginning, of bringing Supernatural back to its grassroots as a show about two brothers, why not have the show that started by their reunion end with their separation? It still pulls at the heartstrings, it still hits the notes it needs to, it’s hopeful, it focuses on Sam and Dean, and it ends with them recognizing that as much as they love each other, they have an unstable unhealthy relationship and without a god pulling the strings it is now up to them to decide if they want to leave this relationship to grow mentally and emotionally and seek out the help the other can’t provide. The last season was all about them trying to take control over their lives back, so show what happens when they actually have full control and deny the audience access to what they then do with the rest of their lives because they refuse to be seen as entertainment.

It’s been two days. My blood still boils when I think of all the lost potential. (ramblings regarding how out of character the finale was)
Never before has an episode of any show, or a chapter of any book, or a scene of any movie has made me so upset. There is rage inside of me and the question of ‘how can a writer betray his own characters like this’.
(huge post following.)
I was not a hardcore destiel shipper. When I first started watching SPN a few years ago I knew of the ship but I thought that there was no chance in Hell a show like this would make it canon. And if we had never gotten 15x18 and some parts of 15x20 maybe I would be a tiny bit happier with how the finale went.
But the biggest mistake they did was give us the confession scene and not only that but echo it in Dean's actions in 15x19.
'That's not who I am'
This line keeps coming back to me because literally two episodes ago we saw Dean willing to sacrifice himself, Jack and even Sam so Chuck would disappear. He was red with rage and he didn't care for anything else apart winning. Let's not forget the thing that made him stop for a minute was Cas questioning Sam on why they should not go ahead with the plan. [Oh, there are plenty to be said for the only angel in all the universes that didn't just 'follow orders' after 'gripping him tight and raising him from perdition' but I won't go into that here.]
And sure, all that was Chuck's writing, but wasn't everything?
So what I am trying to say is that in three consecutive episodes we see:
-Dean full of anger and rage and ready to do anything to win -Dean giving up, losing hope after being cornered -Dean and TFW (minus Cas) finally overpower Chuck and walk away peacefully
So what changed? What made Dean walk away redifining himself as something different than the 'ultimate killer'?
Castiel. Of course, Castiel. The confession was so precious not only because Cas professed his love for Dean. No. It was vital to the plot of the next episode. And that was because before Cas utterred 'I love you' he spoke of how he sees Dean. How the way he sees himself is not the way Cas and the rest of the world sees him. How everything he has ever done, good and bad, was for love. Only for love. Not winning, not gaining power or wealth or recognition. But for love. At that moment Dean sees himself as Cas sees him, and it leaves him struck, speechless. Dean, who always had a snarky line ready is in awe trying to understand the words he is hearing.
And then, after everything is done and dusted we see Dean say 'That's not who I am' mirroring Cas' final words. The words he spent I don't know how much time sitting on the floor against the wall thinking about and crying. Noone else had gotten across to Dean like that, not even Sam. And we see that he started adopting Cas' image of him, believing it to be true. Or starting to.
Dean Winchester overpowered the ultimate villain and chose to stay true to Cas' image of him instead of taking revenge for Chuck screwing him over all his life.
This is poetic and heartbreaking, especially knowing Cas is gone. Not having Dean talk about the confession in 15x19 makes sense. We see glimpses of him numb at the loss, mourning Cas, wanting him back. We see the hope in his face when he thinks he is back. All these things make sense for 15x19, and even though we were sad we had to wait for the next episode hoping to see something tangible (aka the week we all clowned) I was content. The battle was done, the main plot was wrapped up. All was left was to see where all this last minute huge (especially for Dean) character progression and self acceptance would end up.
And then fucking 15x20 happens. It is like the writers threw in a cardboard box all the above points and details and threw it in the ocean. Nothing, absolutely nothing after the first 5 minutes makes sense in this fucking episode!
The montage at the beginning filled me with warmth and happiness. Dean (and Sam) are having a normal morning. Dean looks happy, he is eating, not depicted as overly drinking and most of all he has Miracle. He is focusing his love and affection on another living being. Sweet and warm. He plans to spend the afternoon eating pie with his brother. Goofy and light. The man deserves it for a bit.
But then we get the mention of Cas from Sam and we see how Dean reacts. How can Dean, who was sobbing on the floor and was demanding Cas to be brought back basically an episode ago keep an emotionless face and brush it off. We get the line 'If we don't keep living all that sacrifice was for nothing'. So we are meant to believe that right now Dean is not particularly bothered with Cas' death because it was a sacrifice to save the world. At this point a dread is starting to fill me.
Um, if it was the first time Cas was dying I would understand this. We have seen Dean broken over Cas' death before multiple times under more peaceful circumstances. Dean wouldn't leave Purgatory without Cas and you are trying to convince me after gaining true free will and finally writing his own story Dean would not break every cosmic rule to bring Cas back? Even if he did not reciprocate romantic feelings? This is the textbook definition of out of character in my eyes. Screw the romantic aspect because we ship it. Strip all the glances, touches and sexy lines we enjoy to gif and think back to feed the good ship Destiel, forget about it.
Keep the core of their relationship- the '3rd Winchester brother' who has stuck through thin and thick with them for the past 12 years. You mean to tell me Dean would be happy leaving Cas in the Empty and continue living his life? How is that possible? How is that Dean? How is it possible that we would not see Dean at least trying?
And then 20 minutes later comes the complete opposite of the line Dean wants to stick by. 'If we don't keep living all that sacrifice was for nothing'
But Dean does not keep living, does he? He doesn't grow happy or old. He doesn't start a family or open a bar or learn to dance. He doesn't honour Cas' sacrifice. He dies in the most unimaginitive way. And it is cruel. So cruel.
Dean went from having the strong belief that he would die young on a hunt fighting a monster, saving someone, machete and gun in his hand to starting to accept there is more to him than killing things.
And this fucking episode did a full backtrack and what did it give us?
Dean dying young on a hunt fighting a monster, saving two kids, machete and gun in his hand.
We got Dean dying in a way that gave us a 10 minute speech on how much he loves Sam. We got Dean dying in pain, scared and terrified. We got Dean getting a hunter's funeral with only Sam attending. We saw at Mary's funeral how a hunter's goodbye should look like. Room full of friends, mementos and alcohol. And Dean doesn't get any of that to honour his life.
How can he deserve that? How is it possible?
Even with Heaven 2.0 now being this trully idyllic place how can this be what Dean deserves?
And Sam... Sam gets to grow old in pain and regret. One foot on Earth with his family, one foot ready to follow Dean. Did anyone think Sam looked happy in that montage? Leaving the only home he shared with Dean? Presumably giving up his hunter friends, not even playing a 'Bobby' kind of role? Keeping the Impala in a dusty garage?
Jack... Jack who said he would be hands off, but how am I supposed to believe this would include his family? And even if he didn't heal/save Dean you mean to tell me he wouldn't be there for Sam? I am thinking of Jack appearing after Dean dies, supporting Sam's weight as he collapses, explaining why he can't bring him back. Standing next to Sam as Dean's body is burning.
And Cas... Cas who finally told Dean his truth and then sacrificed himself, content. Cas was saved from the Empty. No longer in eternal sleep sufferring. Working with Jack to rebuild Heaven. And... what? Cas who made Earth his true home, who was talking through tears how he loved the whole world through loving Dean, chose to stay in Heaven? Not stepping in Earth? Not getting in contact with the brothers? Waiting for them to die to talk to them again? And even when Dean dies he is not there to welcome him along with Jack? How is that possible?
We had gotten to know these characters so well over the past 15 seasons. How can the writers give us such a finale, so OOC for all three of them?
How can we not get a scene with Dean and Cas after the last two episodes?
Why have the confession, why have this be Cas' true moment of happines?
Why have the prayer in Purgatory a few episodes back?
Why have Dean break down in a way he has never broken down before?
What is the point of all this if there will be no climax? Even if it is the tiniest nudge, a couple words and a hug.
It makes absolutely no fucking sense. Up until now it felt like all roads, all plot points were converging to one- happiness, peace, love and family.
But no. We got a finale that would make sense 15 years ago. 15 seasons worth of character development and relationship building (not just Destiel, but Sam + Eileen, Jody, Donna and the girls, Charlie and so many others) and we got a finale that basically had Dean die so Sam could have a family.
As others have said here in tumblr Dean and Sam's lives on Earth would end up being exactly the same they ended up being if Dean did not go to get Sam that night.
How can a writer choose this fate for their characters? Why explore everything we watched on our screens, if on the last episode you decide to press delete on 15 seasons and basically deliver episode 1 if something had gone wrong and Dean died?
It makes no sense! It makes no sense regressing your characters 15 years and taking out of them all the experiences, especially those of the past few episodes.
You strip them into their season 1 selves. You strip them from all the layers of friendships, relationships, pain, experience and wisdom they went through and you strip them down to just two broken brothers, sticking together hunting things and saving people til the end. Which yes, they were.
But that was not all they were. Supernatural was a show about the family you make, not the family you get dealt with. Sam and Dean MADE the choice of sticking together. Yes they were brothers, but we know how easy it would have been to lead very different lives which would resulted in never seeing each other. They chose to stick together and they chose to build a family based on love, not blood.
And we got nothing of that legacy.
Is is unfair and it betrays not us, the fans, but the characters.
And that's what's hurting most.

hey, yeah, what the FUCK happened this episode. i've been trying to follow along with the live blogs and its honestly just chaos
Hey anon!!!
Okay so a lot happened and a lot didn’t. And that was the problem, I’ve not been in the fandom long and honestly until about two months ago I had never heard the term bucklemming (and until two hours ago I didn't know it was two people).
However, the fandom has a long-standing issue with them because of pacing issues in their episodes and OOC writing (ie jack not giving two shits that Cas was still in the empty despite knowing about the deal and what would have happened to get him taken by it) and their absolute love of Lucifer.
So quick run down of plot, (apologies this did not stay as short as i planned)
Everyone in the world is dead, Dean tells Sam and Jack that Cas is gone and there are literally no questions asked, they go back to the bunker and a couple days have passed, Dean passes out surrounded by booze but that's pretty much all the mourning we see him do
They follow jacks ‘i feel an energy’ thing to a church but first they make a pit stop at a gas station where Dean finds a dog; Chuck then immediately kills the dog once Dean is all excited that something else survived with them
They go to the church and see Michael who tells them that Adam died in the rapture (yes what chuck did was the rapture) they head back to the bunker and Dean gets a call from Cas but its actually Lucifer at the door and he's here to fuck shit up but wait maybe he’s here to help, he pops a reaper into the bunker (her names betty) and then kills her immediately and she becomes the new death (because the first reaper to die after Death is killed takes over (which seems like a bad system considering decades might go by before a reaper is killed after a death dies but alas) no one questions what happened to all the other reapers by the way but that's not currently relevant)
Because only death can read the death books betty starts reading chucks and after a few sentences luci kills her (rip betty 2020) luci reveals that he wasn't on their side (shocker there folks) and he and Michael duke it out, Luci dies (thankfully) and Sam starts to translate the book because not only is death the only one who can read the book but they are the only ones who can OPEN the book to meaning that the book had been sealed this whole time
Sam works out a spell and its ingredients and they (the three of them and Michael) go to the literal same place they burned Cas’ body in 13x01 because why not (btw this is not ever addressed) and set the spell up but it doesn't work
Chuck shows up and kills Michael for consorting with dean sam and jack (even tho he was still working for chuck and trying to do right by his father) and proceeds to beat the fucking shit out of dean and sam, they refuse to give in and keep standing up (on several broken limbs might i add) this goes on so long it feels like when luci was beating dean to a pulp in swan song.
Finally they confuse chuck enough to make him turn around and jack is up and looking like he wants to fuck shit up. he ends up doing the same move to chuck as he did Michael while he was possessing rowena in s14 and chuck collapses
Dean responds to chucks comment about being a killing machine by saying “no I'm not” which we all think is a call back to Cas’ speech before he died.
The heroes explain that jack had become a power vacuum (actual dialogue) (remember the flowers jack killed in the silo?) and that over these past days he's been absorbing the power that is let off by things, ie, luci and Michael fighting, the plants and flowers, chuck pummeling dean and sam (bc why rip off just infinity war when you can rip off the entire lore behind the black panther suit/ vibranium too)
Chuck is left powerless after this and dean sam and jack drive off as a now human chuck essentially grovels on the ground. they head into town and jack brings back everyone who was killed by god in the previous episode and then gives a really weird speech that confirms that he is in fact the new god (and that amara is now in him and they are in harmony) but says he's gonna be hands off and legit just glows a bunch and disappears.
Dean and sam go back to the bunker and realize they don't have to worry about chucks control on them, we get a like four min montage of the entire show and then they literally drive off into the sunset.
some important notes, Cas was not brought back to life despite it being stated clearly in the episode that god has the power to bring angels back from the empty, no one even asks jack to do it and jack doesnt do it on his own
there is no mention of Bobby Donna Charlie Eileen or anyone else that was killed in 15x18
Sam never asks dean about cas, having apparently gotten all the info he needed in the sentence ‘cas is gone, the empty took him’
honestly the only plot thread wrapped in this ep was god’s and while that might seem big its not really enough like the episode was lacking in a lot of areas
Its been said that Bucklemming hates both Cas and Misha, and that they are literally obsessed with bibro (loving sam and dean equally- a fan made term to stop the sam girls and dean girls from fighting i think) and that they are really really into the whole ‘the show is about two brothers and the open road’ which the show hasn't been about since maybe season two or three
I'm not sure if you can tell from my synopsis (Again sorry it got so long) that a lot of the characters seemed off, Jack not caring that Cas was still dead, Dean not mourning, sam not giving two shits either way, sam not caring to check in on eileen, neither of them checking in with their hunter friends, Michael switching back over to chucks side despite his actions in 15x09, the fact that no one mentioned the plot holes in the ep (by that i mean within the episode no one had questions about the things that didn't fit, like Michael never questioned how a book that could only be read by death was being decoded by Sam)
overall the episode was bad, objectively, not from a destiel shipper standpoint bad. there are many ideas floating around about 15x20 considering this episode really felt like the end of spn, people are mentioning that the relationship arcs are unfinished and that Dabb (whos writing the next one and who has written many of the quinticential destiel episodes) will save the day. Im holding out hope that 15x20 will be better (which should be too hard to achieve after that shit show)
I'm sorry if this is a mess I'm a bit all over the place but I wanted to make sure you got even a partial answer

celebrating Cas dying after professing a one sided love isn't the progressive queer representation y'all think it is.... he's in the empty now and never coming back but sure he said some nice words to a pretty emotionally stunted man who's gonna forget all about this... mygod what a shit ending for Cas but y'all never cared for his character just the ship 🙄
*tries to calm myself down with post-episode ending and the current election results*
Okay buck-o, first of all, I don’t think anyone is “celebrating” Cas’ death, far from it in fact. God, most destiel fans love Cas and none of us wants to see him dead for good. Really? Because personally, I think he’s coming back for the final. (My opinion on that would be different if it weren’t for the fact Eileen, Donna, Charlie, Bobby and etc are snapped) It ended on a cliffhanger, there is no “Okay, we can’t bring him back.” It’s simple: We have no clue what’s gonna happen in the final. It’s scary because normally for final’s we have somewhat of an idea.
I *goddamn* LOVE Cas and Misha. We never cared for him? Excuse me? Get outta here with that, full stop. “Insert shipper here never cares for x character, they just want to see them fck.” Please, take another look at why people ship certain ships instead of coming to that false conclusion.  Supernatural has it’s flaws oh boy, it does. Queerbating is a whoooole different topic that we could sit here and talk about all day/night.

SPNGATE Summary to my Knowledge
So let’s see if I got this
One-sided destiel confession and then immediate bury your gays sacrifice for dean
There’s a rumor the Putin is resigning
Georgia turns blue in the 2020 election
Castiel is basically forgotten for the final two episodes
11 Scenes were cut from the finale. Two romantic songs were part of the storyboard, one of which being Angel with a Shotgun.
One of the scenes is rumored to be Dean screaming for Cas
Eileen, Sam’s deaf girlfriend, is dead and forgotten
Jack becomes God after Dean kills God and leaves
The brothers are alone again and fall into their old monster a week thing and Dean is still doing what his dad told him to even though he should’ve grown past that with character development
Dies impaled on a nail, any injury that probably could’ve been fixed. This character who has struggle with depression and s*icide just shown giving up instead of getting the happy ending he deserved and longed for. Cas sacrifice is made meaningless by this
There’s incest
Unhealthy codependency last beyond death when Sam names his son Dean
The first woman who isn’t killed or in pain for plot development is just standing blurrily in the background. Silent, with no name, or no pictures around the house they’re supposed to be living in. IDK if she’s real, she just so blurry
Party city wigs for old Sammy
He dies of old man disease
There’s maybe some more incest
Ends the show the way it began. Not in a symbolical circular ending, but one that basically throws away any character development they had
Random side character is in the finale and dies
You know instead of the beloved reoccuring characters the show has accumulated over 15 years and belongs in Heaven
Bobby I get, but Dean is in Heaven with his canonically abusive father? Why?
They blamed that on Covid and multiple actors came out and said that wasn’t true. That they were never called
Georgia is confirmed blue again around the same time
The Spanish dub comes in and reciprocates the confession that the CW said wasn’t
Everyone freaks out
The CW is officially in trouble at this point
Jensen recorded the scene on his phone and still has it. Hasn’t released it.
Everyone realizes the scene is clearly edited
#TheySilencedYou and #TheySilencedThem trends
The CW uses Misha as a shield. They get the situation wrong and most likely told him to say the things he said. That it wasn’t a bury your gays, we can DIY our rep, and the Spanish dub comes from a “Rogue Translator”
Possibly gaslit him into thinking that he did something wrong when he’s not to blame
Many people say through it cause this isn’t like Misha to say the things he said. He’s on social media a lot, I think most fans understand him.
There’s a possible Indian dub confirming it, idk what happened with that.
As well as Portuguese Dub (idk if rumor or confirmed)
Negative reviews of the finale start disappearing from ImDb
Black Lightning is cancelled, which somehow became a part of this. Sorry Black Lightning
CW stays silent
Video(s) of the finale start disappearing from the CW’s official Youtube Channel
Also videos of the confession in Spanish have disappeared from the internet.
People start to open the conversation to the rest of the network and start questioning how the CW has represented minorities
Obama is a Destiel Shipper
There’s now an Italian Dub rumor. Which is questionable.
#SomethingToSay starts and goes hard on judging and speaking on the “representation that the CW has presented. Going far beyond Supernatural to the point were every show is now guilty of something (with evidence)
Main points being questionable/bad queer representation with repeated use of stereotypes and bury your gays, stereotyping and villainizing black characters, fetishizing and stereotyping asian characters, ableism surrounding their treatment of disabled and mentally ill characters, and using a woman’s pain as a plot device
That’s surprisingly not the only points. Whole list here
The CW still hasn’t made an official statement. The closest they’ve done is pin that generic “we don’t hate you” post they made even though it’s practically incorrect at this point
Considering they’ve promised to do better in terms of representation multiple times in the past and have yet to prove it. Many people remembered Lexa and also Vanessa Morgan and that other Riverdale actress that moved on the Katy Keene. Who was apparently forced to leave her role, not due to the fact the series was cancelled.
Unrelated but someone on the Flash got Covid and they had to stop filming
Only God knows what’s gonna happen next? Let me know if I left anything out

So why are you always stanning Dabb? He all but ruined the show and the finale. I just don't understand why you're always deffending him?? He dgaf about Sam and Dean just his precious side characters. But hey, to each his own I guess.
Hi Nonnie! I want you and everyone to understand that I don’t actually “stan” Dabb. I don’t deny that the Dabb era is my favorite era, I also don’t deny that he’s had some really dumb screw-ups. However, I always feel the need to defend him because just about everywhere he’s goofed, has already been done by the other showrunners. I also lived through the summer before season 12, when he took over, on Tumblr, listening to most of the fandom talk him down before he had done anything, and I feel like most of the discourse is because none of you want to admit that you never really gave him a chance!
This will be long so if anyone wants to hear my explanation, click away
It started out with whining and moaning that Andrew Dabb’s assistant is a rabid Destiel shipper. So much so that she had 2 books published on the subject. The Hellers were beaming with joy because surely he would make Destiel canon, and they also claimed he hated the “toxic brodependency” and was going to break it down. They claimed that Dabb believed that the side characters were just as important to the show as Sam and Dean are and he would bring about an ensemble cast. Normally, the anti-destiel crowd would write all this off as a heller delusion, but because Dabb’s assistant actually IS a Heller herself, they believed the claims.
To be honest I did too! I was new to the fandom and didn’t care who was running the show or when, so when I saw y’all losing your shit over the regime change, I assumed it was warranted and dreaded season 12 too. I picked apart everything in every episode and bitched along with everyone else until about halfway through when I realized that there was actually some really good stuff happening.
Of course, there were negatives, every season under every showrunner has had them and Dabb wasn’t guilty of anything new. Yes, there was forgotten canon, but Kripke was forgetting canon before the end of s1 with less than 22 episodes to think back on. Remember when they could detect a demon by saying “Chrstos”? How about Dean saying Baby is manual transmission but she’s actually automatic? Was Sam at Stanford for 4 or 2 years? And that’s just season 1!
Everyone griped that Dean wasn’t frantic enough in finding Sam when the Britts kidnapped him, yet, he wasn’t frantic when Sam was abducted by Vetala for 3 days and was busy being buddies with a teenage girl in s7.
Everyone bitched that Dabb was paying too much attention to side characters when it was actually J2 who wanted more time off with their families and the only way to remedy that was to give more time to side characters, which actually began in s8 under Carver, but you tell me why Gamble felt like Bobby’s story needed 9 episodes in s7 and Sam’s mental breakdown only needed 4 episodes? Or why Cass needed his own story with the angels in s9 or Crowley and Rowena needed their own story in s10? At least all the side stories in the Dabb era directly affected Sam and Dean.
“Dabb wants to breakdown the toxic brodependancy!!” Well wait, you mean Sam and Dean had this beautiful, trusting, ride-or-die relationship before then? Seriously, they did nothing but betray, lie, and leave each other for the first 10 seasons! Had Dean not given the “nothing past or present I would put in front of you” speech in Sacrifice, I wouldn't have believed Sam was #1 to him anymore since s4! Remember it was Gamble who had Dean choosing  Cass to fight alongside him instead of Sam at the end of S7 with the “Id rather have you” speech, and who was it that had Dean actually telling Cass he loves him in s8 before Jensen said “yeah no... not gonna do that” if anyone would have made Destiel canon it would have been Gamble or Carver.
Sure Dabb broke the toxic brodepency... he made it much less toxic! Sam and Dean stopped betraying and leaving each other, their lying to each other almost stopped but when they did, they fessed up to it before the other found out on their own and flipped out. They learned to trust each other and depend on each other for everything and to me, that's much more valuable than anything provided in the seasons before.
So when it appears that I stan Dabb, it’s not that I don't realize there were serious screw-ups in his era, but because the brother’s relationship was 100 times better than previous seasons.
