He literally never said he wanted Dean to die, he said 5 minutes earlier that Dean would ask Jack to bring him back to life.

He answered the question and said that Dean was the logical choice out of the two brother's. Because Dean was a complete wreck in the finale (after losing Cas) so he wouldn't have been able to handle another loss.

uh, i can't exactly tell you how i know (Creation sniper) but i can confirm the Creation questions for Misha's panel were pre-screened. (eh fuck it *whispers* they emailed some ticket holders earlier today, at least five hours ahead of the panel, to say they'd been "selected" to ask Misha a question. I don't know how many people got back to them in time (you had to email them back to confirm before a certain time), but that's how the questions were picked.)
