now that this season is over, i can say that i think it's pretty clear that it was rushed. a lot of people are saying that nothing much happened in it, but i feel the opposite is true -- a lot happened in it and we didn't have enough time to sit with it. characters changed behaviors way too fast, or took decisions that were not necessarily out of character but that seemed too sudden for them. i think this may be a consequence of the strike, which would also explain the reduced amount of episodes, but i really hope they fix that next season
#i think alicent exemplifies this the best#her coming to rhaenyra or having an affair with criston is not ooc for her show self. but we really didn't see enough to make it natural#this was a problem from the get-go. her relationship with aemond took a full turn off-screen. from favorite son to feared son#and we might know why on paper but it's not the same as seeing it unfold. show don't tell etc etc#now rhaenyra on the other hand was the only character that remained too stagnant for most of the season#just because they didn't want her to be agressive without establishing her as a good person repeatedly first#hotd

I’m not entirely sure how Alys and Aemond’s relationship will play out in the show, but it seems unlikely to be romantic or sexual. It doesn’t feel like a friendship either....more like a connection shrouded in manipulation, mistrust, and/or necessity. Genuine loyalty or affection seems doubtful. I wonder if Alys will stir conflict between Aemond and Criston, either by design or simply because her presence unsettles their dynamic. Her influence might drive a conflict between the two, especially if Criston, like Aemond, also experiences visions under her influence. Even if the show avoids portraying Alys as a seductress, it’s likely the men around her will still project that role onto her. She isn’t just enigmatic...she represents everything Aemond and Criston instinctively fear or despise. She’s a bastard, a Strong, a witch potentially tied to Daemon (if the show mentions it), and she follows the Old Gods rather than the Faith of the Seven. In every way, she (like Rhaenyra) stands in direct opposition to women like Alicent and even Helaena, who embody ideals of 'virtue' and 'piety.' She isn’t just a threat because of what she does but because of what she represents. She challenges the very foundations of control, tradition, and order that Aemond and Criston cling to. She could be the wild card they could neither predict nor contain. Even if Alys isn’t actively trying to disrupt their plans, her mere existence could force both men to confront the fragility of their control.
I likely will only know what's going on in s3 through osmosis, so idk.
I hope the show goes this way, anon (except for the sexual bit, that needs to stay and I don't think they will pass up on such an opportunity), that a great perspective and the most possibly accurate reading that I see for this. I'm guessing that Alys--if they do this the "best" way--will see/observe what sort of men they are, observe how they already come frayed and a bit disjointed to Harrenhal, and decides to carefully poke the frays more. I think, like I think happened in canon, she will be much more motivated to do this after seeing Aemond and/or Criston either allow or perform escalating atrocities...or intuitively feel they will inevitably and very quickly.
As I think what actually happened in the orig story, Alys will very much appeal to Aemond but horrify and disgust Cole. "Even if the show avoids portraying Alys as a seductress, it’s likely the men around her will still project that role onto her", very much, indeed. Perhaps the push-pull game will begin with Alys' attempts and Aemond will be "charmed". I do kinds wonder how they will make Criston's prior seeming apathy (humans become meat under the dragons' feet or something when Alicent tried to get him to do something, idr) into a instant or growing disdain towards Alys? Perhaps it will be just as you say, and we get to see his hypocrisy flare up so obviously again.
I don't think Alys will send Criston dreams; that would freak him out so much that he might inspire mutiny in a mad moment, who knows. And he would never believe that she wasn't some sort of demon, she has no win for that from Cole. And she probably won't even try to exhibit her worshipping the old gods in front of Cole or the rest of the army, with how dangerous that'd be for her, just Aemond, as she had with Daemon. And Criston's experience and conception of a matronly figure is more distant than Aemond's, as he already has his ideal in Alicent as well as her panties. And then, perhaps, just as Daemon to a little cuckoo in front of unaffected others, Aemond will go a little weird in front of Cole and Cole will try to get him to move for it.
But going back to show!Aemond. He seeks out matronly figures so he can feel connected to the sort of "good mate" they either feel they've been deprived of and their mother didn't exemplify or that she did and they want it sorta realized in how she (seemingly) confidently or with groundedness, anticipates his repressed emotional twists and turns. We already have seen him with that older prostitute and how Aegon made fun of him for it, we've seen the prostitute's performance for Aemond the bare boy seeking moments of vulnerability hidden from his obligations. Which is why I say that sexual relationship is very important. Don't care for much romance, but if they include that Aemond feels as if he's in love with Alys, it would hammer in how she is or he's fallen into a perception and the tie that to the play of perception done in season 2 when Daemon was there. Let's encourage the writers to be consistent. Like, now, the stakes are much higher for Alys.
I forgot, Cole saw Aemond draw out his knife to finish off Aegon in the 2nd season! He's trying to deny it, but you can tell it's now embedded in this memory and he might do more to spy on the both of them. 🤷🏽♂️ Atp, I'm throwing spaghetti at the wall.

Parent Testimonials: Why We Love This Edmonton Daycare
Do you ever wonder why this beloved daycare and out-of-school care in St. Albert is named 'Little NEMO'S'? This carefully chosen name exemplified our values –
N – Nurturing
E – Education
M – Motivation
O – Open Communication
So, at Little NEMO's Daycare, we aim to create a warm, stimulating and nurturing environment for your children so they can feel like a home away from home. From education and enrichment programs to our educators and location, we provide the best possible daycare facilities to elevate your child's growth and learning experiences.
Let's dig deeper by going through some parents' testimonials to know what Little NEMO's family thinks about us –
Sarah Miller, Mother of Alice (Age 2)
“Alice has been going to Little NEMO's Daycare since she was 12 months old; now, she is two years old. Sending my toddler for the first time in daycare was really tough for me. I was so worried about leaving Alice. But from the first day, her daycare teachers put me at ease. Alice loves going there as her teachers are so warm and caring.
Coming to the curriculum and activities. My daughter has been learning a lot in daycare, from letters and numbers to making new friends, and Alice is really happy. Her favourite time is the outdoor time in their garden. I recommend Little NEMO's to everyone struggling to find a good daycare or out-of-school care in St. Albert.”
Diljit and Kiran Singh, Parents of Gurpreet (Age 4)
“As an educator and parent, I can tell that my wife and I are so happy with Little NEMO's teaching method. Gurpreet is always excited to go to school, learn new things and play with his friends. We are truly pleased to see how the teachers and staff embrace, nurture, and support our children, especially in a diversified environment.
Even I would like to appreciate the daycare facilities they provide and how they keep it clean and well-maintained the entire time.
Moreover, their daily updates are really helpful for us to prepare Gurpreet's weekly study plan. We have peace of mind knowing that Little NEMO's Daycare is the right place for our son.”
David & Kate Jones, Parents of Eleanor (Age 6)
“Little NEMO's Daycare has prepared Eleanor so well for kindergarten. Along with academics, her teachers also focus on her social and emotional development.
Since her tender age, we know that Eleanor is a more sensitive child than others. Hence, we requested that her teachers pay more attention to her. To our surprise, Eleanor has now learned how to navigate her thoughts and disagreements and share them with everyone.
All thanks to her teachers! I don't know how they have transformed my daughter without differentiating her from other kids. Our family feels lucky to have found such a caring and supporting daycare in Edmonton.”
Adriel Campbell, Mother of Dexter (Age 4)
“So, after sending my child to Little NEMO's for over two years, I have a complaint with this out-of-school care in St. Albert. How would you react if your 4-YO son woke you up on Sunday morning and said, "Mamma, I want to go to school today"? I mean, Seriously! Even on Saturdays and Sundays!!
Being a single mother, I was worried about many things – which daycare to choose, if Dexter would like the school, if his teachers would look after him properly, and many more. But, now I must say that Little NEMO'S has taken care of all my worries. I know Dexter is in safe hands when he is in the daycare. I could think of no better place for my son than Little NEMO's!”
Would you like to share your family's experience with Little NEMO's Daycare and Out of School Care Centre.? Feel free to contact us!

(Actress Jan Minor, left, starred in the episode of The Chase called "Long Distance." An actual 1952 ad for Long Distance calls is on the right!)
Day 71- TV and Radio:
TV:
My Little Margie, season 2, episode 7, “Blonde Margie,” November 1st, 1952.
Beat the Clock, November 1st, 1952.
What’s My Line?, “Barry Fitzgerald,” November 2nd, 1952.
Radio:
The Phil Harris and Alice Faye Show, “Phil Helps Get Out the Vote,” November 2nd, 1952.
The Chase, “Long Distance,” November 2nd, 1952.
Suspense, “Frankenstein,” November 3rd, 1952.
The Chase!! Oh my gosh, The Chase today! It was one of the best episodes of radio I’ve heard in the last 11 weeks. I love it when radio shows fully embrace the medium and use its particular strengths to construct a story. Like Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” or Suspense’s “Sorry, Wrong Number,” this episode of The Chase used sound to tell a story in a creative way. It was similar to “Sorry, Wrong Number” in that the whole running time of the show consists of a woman making phone calls. This time, the lead is a woman whose husband is about to be executed for a murder he didn’t commit. She finds a piece of evidence that will exonerate him- a missing letter. Her husband will be executed in 20 minutes, and she’s been told the judge is the only one who can order a stay. She spends 20 odd minutes desperately making long distance calls trying to find the judge, who is out of town. The telephone system worked entirely differently then. You couldn’t just pick up your cell phone and call anywhere in the world. You had to go through operators who connected to other operators to find the location and put you through. It was a thrilling ride listening as the woman makes repeated calls across the country to track the judge down. The actress, Jan Minor, was amazing. I had chills, and she almost had me in tears.
Phil and Alice was all about the upcoming election. There were lots of jokes about Phil’s lack of knowledge, and lots of reminders to the audience of why voting is very important. Tomorrow I will “live though” the election, so it lines up well.
This was the final available 1952 episode of My Little Margie, and I still feel torn about the show. I like Gale Storm a lot, she’s very cute and good at being an enthusiastic prankster. I just think there’s often too much hijinks and not enough emotional connection between the characters. Maybe they find a better balance as the show continues on.
...And now a word from today’s best sponsor: A handsome half sofa set from the Shaw Manufacturing Company! These two versatile pieces are scaled to average room size and exemplify the best in Shaw craftsmanship! They’re hair-filled for luxurious comfort! Wait wait wait wait!! What? Hair filled? Yes, they are filled with horsehair for opulence and extrav- Wait wait wait!! Horsehair? There’s horsehair in my furniture? Yes, and sometimes other animal hair. They truly make the most sumptuous, comfortable- No no no! I’m out, thanks.

hotd episode 7 thoughts
let me tell you, i have been anticipating the funeral drama in this episode for WEEKS and it absolutely did not let me down.
as always i am happy that we got to see some of the dragons but i would have loved even more. where is syrax! i want to see her all grown up!
i’m glad we got the velaryons mourning laena, but it really did make me wish that we’d gotten to see more of her alive. laenor is clearly grieving his sister, but i honestly don’t think they ever had any significant scenes together.
corlys and rhaenys with their grandchildren was really sweet, i especially loved seeing rhaenys comfort rhaena and baela at the funeral.
helaena targaryen continues to be a weird little girl and i support her!
i love the idea of making aemond care more about helaena than aegon does, it’s a good characterization bit and also incredibly evil (cannot wait to see Certain Events that happen as a direct result of aemond’s actions utterly ruin their relationship).
why was this episode so dark. i could see everything but it was really gray :(
however i did like the part where everyone was standing around awkwardly after the funeral, the interpersonal drama was delicious.
matt smith and emma d’aracy have great chemistry, all the staring they did at the funeral made me SO impatient for them to actually interact, and their conversation on the beach was fantastic.
loved getting to see them confront all their thoughts and feelings about each other that have built up over ten years. i’ve always found their relationship compelling to watch even though it’s obviously. you know. incestuous. it’s just fun to watch! and i feel less “step away from the underage girl” now that rhaenyra is older.
i know harwin strong is dead and never coming back but i’m still glad that we got to see jace mourning him and rhaenyra talking about their relationship.
a brothel …. a shack on the beach … daemon i am literally begging you to bring rhaenyra somewhere actually nice on your next date.
the scene of aemond claiming vhagar was both funny and awesome, the visual of this tiny little kid riding a huge old dragon and screaming his head off was hilarious but the moonlight dragon ride was very cool.
truly family solidarity as exemplified by the targaryen-velaryon kids is when your cousin that you just met for the first time that day wakes you up in the middle of the night to tell you your uncle stole her dead mom’s dragon so you go beat him up together!
i like the added detail that rhaena was planning to claim vhagar, it adds even more betrayal to aemond taking her instead.
is house of the dragon actually an extended psa about the dangers of giving young children knives? maybe so!
mom rhaenyra looking after her kids and making sure they’re okay is very important to me :)
honestly, i felt pretty bad for aemond in the big confrontation scene, he was kind of a jerk to the other kids but it can’t be fun to get yelled at by your dad when you’ve just lost an eye.
i absolutely LOVED the tension in that scene and the way that it built and built until alicent just went for it and tried to stab rhaenyra. characters going completely feral and unhinged in the BEST and alicent dropping her mask of cordiality and screaming at rhaenyra was so, so good.
viserys your parental favoritism is reeeally showing…
the scene between rhaenyra and laenor was wonderful, i’m so glad the show made it clear that even though they have their differences and have been basically forced into a marriage together they still care about each other and their kids a lot.
loved that larys was like “hey alicent want me to stab a kid’s eye out for you? :)” and alicent was like “no dude i’ll actually TELL you when i want you to kill someone.” she’s learning!
there were 3 dragons when the boat was sailing away, does that mean helaena has already claimed dreamfyre?
when rhaenyra and daemon started talking about getting married i was SO worried that i was going to see them engage in some not chill behavior together and kill laenor so i’m glad that didn’t happen.
i do have to respect this show for avoiding another bury your gays by having laenor fake his death but. uh. is anyone ever going to tell corlys and rhaenys that their son isn’t dead?
the valyrian wedding between daemon and rhaenyra was really cool but tbh i was kind of laughing at them passionately making out with tongue in front of their kids.
i say this every week but i am VERY excited for next week, looks like we’re in for even more family drama.

What Taylor Swift's songs do think fit with Ziggy/Nick (in any universe)? And with Alice and Cindy?
OMG MY TIME HAS COME- okay I'm gonna apologize for the spiel from now because I know this is going to be long.
okay so for Ziggy/Nick post nightwing/curse reveal:
- all too well (both 5 and 10 minute version) - like just angst galore. like "maybe this thing was a masterpiece until you tore it all up" or "just between us did the love affair maim you two?" . sadness all around. I made a gif set to this song here.
- the 1 - "if you wanted me you really should have showed". need I say any more?
- The Last Time & I almost do - these both suit them so well, especially pre-reveal. Like Nick driving by her house and wanting to stop but never doing it, and Ziggy regretting telling him to leave her alone (though in the end that's obviously for the best, considering)
- Death by a Thousand Cuts (no pun intended)
- Clean (especially for Ziggy after Nick dies and she gets a chance to heal and cope with her trauma in healthy ways).
- cold as you - "and now that I'm sitting here thinking it through, I've never been anywhere as cold as you" like omg the angst I am deceased
- my tears ricochet
- right where you left me. like this song is too good. I actually named a fic of mine for them after this song!
- this love - I think this song represents what Ziggy wanted their story to be like after she called him for help. like "these hands had to let it go free and this love came back to me". and then it didn't, but that's not important rn.
Now for during Nightwing/the brief era they were star crossed lovers and wholesome and no one knew Nick was an evil jackass:
- you belong with me. I know this song has pick-me vibes, but it's still such a bop, and it works for both nick and Ziggy's pov.
- cruel summer. like it's a cruel summer with you. need I say anymore?
-Fearless - lol Nick definitely screams this song thinking about Ziggy.
- out of the woods. - the fear. the anxiety. so good! especially when they're running from Tommy it suits them a lot.
-Mine - you made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter suits them so freaking well. and it works both ways! except for Nick it would be more like you made a rebel of a satanic-worshipper's careful son, you are the best thing that's ever mine lmao
- call it what you want and wildest dreams!
-afterglow!
and lastly, "State of Grace" - love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right. he is literally responsible for her and sister dying.
and then for Alice & Cindy:
- okay the song that best exemplifies Alice and Cindy and Tommy and that whole triangle is "The way I loved you" 100%. like it's just so good. like "and I feel perfectly fine but I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, and it's four am and I'm cursing your name" like the angst!
- also "you belong with me", especially from Alice's pov singing about Cindy and Tommy.
- it's nice to have a friend 100%
- Sparks Fly - I think Ryan (Alice's actor) has green eyes so this is great.
-I wish You Would
- Paper Rings
- You are in Love
- Daylight (because these two would have been so soft together I swear)
anyway I'm going to stop now because this is already way way too long so sorry about that! thanks for the ask 💕💕

From left to right:
Seether Black, the Ringmaster
Hoody the Pig, the sick butcher
Bojo the Clown, the psychoberserker
Seraphine the Executioner, the gothic contortionist
Gungarus and Yulaan— the Skullcrusher Double— love Planet Naraka. They love the brutal, chain-linked underground fight clubs that have no rules. They love the explosive import-car street races and edgelord-gangsta kvltvr around it. They love the awful nü metal "jumpdafuckup" concerts from bands with names like Monkeynutz and Brayn Payne with musicians who use high levels of qi control for suicidal stage antics to show how mentally ill they are. They love the macho rugged space mercs with big guns and Y2K aesthetic military gear. And they love abusement parks.
Planet Naraka is absolutely a mess of late 90s/early 2000s edge, and one aspect of that edginess that lives on is that of evil circus freaks (probably best exemplified by Slipknot).
Naraka is nothing if not desperate to revel in that sort of Douche Age insanity. You have these Abusement Parks like Sevedy Mickette's Magickal Mephistarian Exhibition. The Abol people of Planet Naraka seem to love casual, wonton violence and psycho-exploitation, and abusement parks are the most "1998 edgelord" thing imaginable. You know how Marilyn Manson's musical style? A lot of his earlier/most famous music has this sort of demented industrial carnival swing and aesthetic to it.
Abolian abusement parks are the evil carnivals his music was set to. Condemned criminals and subabolians on death row are often paraded through these things to be victims of sadomasochistic carnies and psychotic circusfreaks. It's like if the PS1 game Thrill Kill and the arcade game CarnEvil were used as inspiration for real parks by someone who thinks Coal Chamber, Mudvayne, Insane Clown Posse, and Otep are the baddest badasses who ever walked.
You have Hoody the Pig. He comes in saying "I have the body of a pig," then snorts, "I'll eviscerate your ass!" and shoves a weird electric butcher's knife/chainsaw combo up a condemned's ass, destroying him from the inside.
However, the one the Skullcrusher Double saw first was sometime in the middle of their current Execution Exhibition, where this cute little goffik contortionist—Seraphine the killer contortionist— flipped and twirled with bladed shoes, decapitating one Abol and then stretching & contorting her body around a second before unwinding in such a way that he seemed lucky at first— her crotch right in his face— only for all his limbs fell off in a bloody mess and his ribs to burst through his chest. Neither Gungarus or Yulaan know how she did that, but she just did a bow and pranced off before the ringmaster waltzed on, smacking another condemned fool in the nuts with his skullheaded can, and announced the next set of events to a cheering and televised crowd.
Then you had Bojo. The clown. A goffik clown with Abolian schizophrenia. Mir (a goth girl Yulaan knows on Earth Prime) met Bojo during one of his docile moments before. Seemed nice enough, if a bit crazy and murderous. Despite his orc-like tusks, he could conceivably pass as a human well enough.
But once he's a clown? He becomes Bojo the Psychoberseker. Big, fat, twisted, and psychotic.
The ringmaster, Seether Black, was likely either a vampire or mutant. He was also one of the few "correctly proportioned" males, which made him a downright prettyboy compared to the orc-like beefcakes that Abolian males usually were. He was like crossing Alice Cooper with Charles Manson.
"Don't you mean Marilyn Manson?"
"I know what I said." Seether Black is edgelord supreme. He was a horribly abused kid whose bullies often tried killing him and forcing him to commit suicide, so eventually one day he snapped and crucified them, one by one. Their crosses still stand, and some of their bodies have rotted away, though for a couple he poured molten mercury down their throats to turn them into macabre statues.
Seether Black finds beauty in madness.
Seether Black literally killed the Goddess of Naraka, and keeps her body as an ornament. It's his vengeance against heaven, and he refuses to be a slave to a dead god or a society that doesn't care about him.
Yeah, Naraka is a world of 90s psychosploitation. Like that one kid, Maxxi Yazzi, who just wanted to be your friend. If he cut you open and ate your organs and lived inside you, you'd be friends FOREVER! But you rejected him, and now he's sad and psychotic and going to spill his organs out.

Shelley Winters: An Extraordinary Actress By Susan King
When Shelley Winters died at 85 in 2006, much was made of the fact that the two-time Oscar-winner went from a va-va-va voom sex symbol to a matronly character actress. In fact, the Los Angeles Times obit stated she was a “blond bombshell of the 1940s who evolved into a character actress best remembered for her roles as victims, shrew and matrons.”
But truth be told, Winters was always a character actress. However, when she began in the acting in Hollywood in the 1940s, the studio system typecast actresses and actors on appearance. In fact, she once noted she often played the “the bad blonde bimbo usually going up against the sweet brunette.” In fact, before she got her big movie break as a tart waitress who is murdered by Ronald Colman in A DOUBLE LIFE (’47), she was playing the comedic character part of Ado Annie on Broadway in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma!. And speaking of A DOUBLE LIFE, Winters brought a depth to the character that other ingenues of the era wouldn’t have had the ability to play.
“She was a serious actress,” said Diane Baker, who made her film debut opposite Winters in George Stevens’ acclaimed THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK (’59) for which Winters received her first supporting actress Oscar as Mrs. Van Daan. And it was her role as the zaftig middle-age Van Daan that was her watershed film – the movie in which she segued from glam roles and moved into the forefront of the character actresses. “I believe Shelley exemplified what it was to be a Method actress,” Baker added.
Winters initially had to work hard to convince Hollywood she was a serious actress. Oscar-nominated Sally Kirkland, who knew and worked with Winters from 1962-2006, recalled the lengths she went to convince director George Stevens that she was more than a sex symbol in order to play the dowdy pregnant Alice Tripp, who is murdered by her boyfriend (Montgomery Clift) in A PLACE IN THE SUN (’51).
“When George Stevens made an appointment to meet her at the Hollywood Athletic Club, she made her hair brown. She’s flattened her chest, got a dowdy coat. She sits there for an hour because he doesn’t recognize her. Winters went to these ‘extremes’ because she’s smart enough to know she can not be a blonde bombshell. He agrees to test her and then hires her. She gets her Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Of course, that relationship with Monty Clift was profound to her.”
She also excelled in the gothic thriller THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER (’55), the only film directed by Oscar-winning actor Charles Laughton. “I don’t know whether this is a well-known fact, but she felt Charles Laughton really taught her acting,” said Kirkland.” In fact, before she made NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, Winters had taken a Shakespeare acting class with the British actor. “He took her under his wing,” noted Kirkland. “During my entire time with her from 1962 until she died, she would talk about Charles Laughton. From her point of view, he was her mentor.”
Winters also respected Lee Strasberg, with whom she studied at the Actors Studio in New York and later became a well-respected teacher there. “She loved Lee Strasberg,” said Kirkland. “I loved Lee Strasberg. I studied with him from ’64 on.” (Winters got Kirkland into the Actors Studios.) But Kirkland noted that Strasberg was “a very hard man to have a relationship with. He was very closed off in the sense of communications other than when he was critiquing. I think Charles Laughton had a really personal relationship with her. She had him on such a pedestal. She said he taught her more than anybody.”
After THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, Winters left Hollywood for the Actors Studio and soon was appearing on Broadway in A Hatful of Rain with Ben Gazzara and Anthony Franciosa, who would become her third husband. Winters played the pregnant wife of a Korean vet struggling with heroin addiction.
“I was a teenager and saw it on Broadway,” said Kirkland. “It just blew my mind. I said, ‘I have to do that. I have to do what Shelley’s doing.’ Unbelievable impact on me.” Winters also impacted Baker. “While we were on DIARY, if something happened, she didn’t stop the scene,” Baker explained. “One time, something happened to the chair when she was in a scene. The chair went down the stairs. She didn’t say cut or stop acting. She went down the stairs to bring the chair back up and kept going.” Baker recalled that Winters wasn’t “Hollywood” in any way. She had a table at the Silver Spoon on Santa Monica Blvd. Just a normal simple little lunch table where she sat and had people visiting. She used to have her little group of people who were friends who would chat and talk.”
Stevens treated Winters with sensitivity and understanding, Baker noted. “He went along with her creative needs. I think that’s why he brought her onto DIARY, because she was the combination of nerves, humor and at the same time tragedy. She would pull it off.’
“I think she was just a mensch,” added Baker. She was more than a mensch to Kirkland. “I studied with her. I was her assistant. I taught her all her lines in LOLITA (‘62), A PATCH OF BLUE (’65), THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE (‘72). I basically did everything she needed help with. She always wanted a young actress, kind of a protégé; I always wanted a stage mom. My mom was fashion editor for Life at the time and didn’t have time to be a typical mom.“
When Kirkland was working with Winters as the actress preparing for A PATCH OF BLUE, for which Winters won her second Oscar for playing the harridan bigoted mother of a young blind woman, she gave Kirkland a gold friendship ring. “It said, ‘To Sally from Shelley. I love you.’”
Winters had to gain nearly 40 pounds for her final Oscar-nominated role in THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE for her sweet performance as a former competitive swimmer. She never was able to lose the weight. Though the quality of her films was a mixed bag until her death, Winters still gave some great performances especially in Pau Mazursky’s NEXT STOP, GREENWICH VILLAGE (‘76), in which she plays the ultimate Jewish mother.
“Paul Mazursky was her friend,” said Kirkland. “Paul was an actor/director/writer at the Actors Studio. He would come over to the house when I was there, and he would talk about the project.” Kirkland said Winters would use music to get her into character and emotional scenes. “She loved opera,” Kirkland noted. “She would put on something like La Traviata and that would always make her cry. Paul, brilliant that he is, kept it in the movie, kept her Method acting exercise in the movie. So, when you see NEXT STOP GREENWICH VILLAGE and you hear opera, you’ll know that was one of the secrets of Shelley Winters’ acting was always to have opera playing.”

~~
1. The 1 by Taylor Swift
“But it would've been fun
If you would've been the one”
As we start the playlist, Luke and Alex are taking a wistful look back on their relationship in the 90s now that they’ve moved on to other people.
2. Coming Clean by Green Day
“Seventeen and strung out on confusion
Trapped inside a roll of disillusion
I found out what it takes to be a man
Now mom and dad will never understand”
Back in the 90s, both Luke and Alex are coming to terms with their sexualities.
3. Smells Like Teen Spirit
“With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us”
Sunset Curve were working towards popularity right at the height of the grunge scene, and I would assume that both Luke and Alex heard quite a bit of this song as teenagers.
4. Now or Never by Sunset Curve
“Keep dreaming like we'll live forever
But live it like it's now or never”
How could I not include Sunset Curve’s own song? They like living in the moment, and that includes their love lives.
5. Everlong by the Foo Fighters
“And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when”
When you go through adolescence, you crave intimacy with other people. This song exemplifies what Luke and Alex want from each other- to be able to feel, and to be able to experience those feelings on a deeper level.
6. Ocean Size by Jane’s Addiction
“Wish I was ocean size
They cannot move you, man
No one tries
No one pulls you
Out from your hole
Like a tooth aching a jawbone”
Jane’s Addiction was another LA rock band of this time period, and these lyrics about wanting to be powerful like the ocean and having to leave your home really remind me of Luke.
7. All Apologies by Nirvana
“What else should I be?
All apologies
What else should I say?
Everyone is gay”
This song is Kurt Cobain ironically apologizing for his cynical attitude, including the line “everyone is gay” to mock homophobes. It reminds me of Alex- he doesn’t want to be “married and buried”; he is rebelling against his parents’ definition of a correct lifestyle.
8. Freaking Out The Neighborhood by Max DeMarco
“And I know it's no fun
When your first son
Gets up to no good
Starts freaking out the neighborhood”
Emily Patterson and Alex’s mom were probably both pretty appalled by their sons effectively joining the counterculture. At this point, both Luke and Alex are starting to express themselves more, comfortable in who they are and what they want.
9. Hangout With You by Diners
“All I want
Is to talk with you now
And I know that you've got time
You are constantly on my mind
Yes I know that you've got time
To hang out with me
Tonight”
Luke has begun to realize that he likes Alex, and in true Luke fashion, can’t stop thinking about it.
10. Affection by Between Friends
“I'm laying on the floor
We're drinking 'cause we're bored
Oh, I'm looking for affection in all the wrong places
And we'll keep falling on each other to fill the empty spaces”
One night, it all comes out- their feelings and desires- and they decide to begin some kind of friends with benefits type of situation. This song feels like it’s from Luke’s perspective to me.
11. gold rush by Taylor Swift
“What must it be like
To grow up that beautiful?
With your hair falling into place like dominos
I see me padding 'cross your wooden floors
With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door
At dinner parties
I call you out on your contrarian shit
And the coastal town
We wandered 'round had never
Seen a love as pure as it
And then it fades into the gray of my day old tea
'Cause you know it could never be”
Luke is a magnetic person, attracting everyone, and Alex finds him beautiful. He is in awe of him, but he’s also scared about having feelings he doesn’t know how to handle. This song kind of shows Alex’s internal monologue.
12. Can We Kiss Forever? by Kina
“I tried to reach you, I can't hide
How strong's the feeling when we dive
I crossed the ocean of my mind
My wounds are healing with the salt
All my senses intensified
Whenever you and I, we dive”
This song describes their first kiss, obscured from the world, in my mind. Plus, there’s ocean metaphors. You can’t go wrong with that.
13. 18 by Anarbor
“So if you wanna piss off your parents
Date me to scare them
Show them you're all grown up
If long hair and tattoos are what attract you
Baby, then you're in luck
And I know it's just a phase
You're not in love with me
You wanna piss off your parents, baby
That's alright with me”
Luke knows Alex isn’t in love with him, but they both want to try new things. Bonus points for this song having references to frayed parent-child relationships.
14. Boys Will Be Boys by Miles McKenna
“That graduation day, it never came for you and me
Couple drop-out kids, a shotgun wedding's all we need
Sorry, Mom, Sorry, Dad
Better luck next time
A couple packs a day, pierced nose and tattoos on our legs
No strangers to pretend, we've always been too proud to beg
Sorry, Mom, Sorry, Dad
Better luck next time
Boys will be boys”
This song referencing a “couple of drop out kids” just going with the flow made me think of how Sunset Curve probably never would have finished high school.
15. Just Like You by Three Days Grace
“You thought you were there to guide me, you were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
I could be mean
I could be angry
You know I could be just like you.”
Both Luke and Alex have tons of resentment for their parents, obviously.
16. Sunstroke by Less Than Jake
“We've all been living proof
That time won't wait or choose
We know it ticks on without me and you
And I can't have both sides
Letting go or holding tight
I'm burning bright tonight”
This song about being stubborn and time not waiting really reminded me of Luke, plus the foreshadowing of them becoming ghosts and adapting to a whole new world.
17. Saint Bernard by Lincoln
“Saint Calvin told me not to worry about you
But he's got his own things to deal with
There's really just one thing that we have in common
Neither of us will be missed”
This song just made me think about Alex and his Catholic guilt.
18. Bedroom Hymns by Florence and the Machine
“This is a good a place to fall as any
We'll build our altar here
Make me your Maria
I'm already on my knees
You had Jesus on your breath
And I caught Him in mine
Sweating out confessions
The undone and the divine
This is his body, this is his love
Such selfish prayers and I can't get enough, oh”
Part 2 of Alex and his Catholic guilt. Their relationship has become more carnal, and this song maybe gives a little of Alex’s perspective into that time.
19. Church by Fall Out Boy
“And if death is the last appointment
Then we're all just sitting in the waiting room
I am just a human trying to avoid my certain doom
If you were church, yeah
I'd get on my knees”
Here ends the trilogy of songs with religious references. This song is heady and sensual and also includes some nice foreshadowing of their deaths.
20. Bros by Wolf Alice
“Shake your hair, have some fun
Forget our mothers and past lovers, forget everyone
Oh, I'm so lucky, you are my best friend
Oh, there's no one, there's no one who knows me like you do
Are your lights still on?
I'll keep you safe
If you keep me strong”
Here’s another song from Luke’s perspective- talking about forgetting mothers, being best friends, and keeping Alex safe, as long as Alex keeps him strong.
21. Slip Away by Perfume Genius
“Don't look back, I want to break free
If you'll never see 'em coming
You'll never have to hide
Take my hand, take my everything
If we only got a moment
Give it to me now
They'll never break the shape we take
Baby, let all them voices slip away”
Alex struggles with losing his family over his sexuality, and Luke helps him through it.
22. Make Out In My Car by Sufjan Stevens
“I'm not trying to
Go to bed with you
I just wanna make out in my car
And though I'm dying to
Fall in love with you
I just wanna make out in my car”
Another great song about just wanting to exist with someone, about wanting touch and feel and create. They don’t want to fall in love, they just want to be.
23. I Exist I Exist I Exist by Flatsound
“I remember the way you shook
Its a shame that we're not soul mates
Because if i didn't know better
I'd say this feels pretty good
How could i be scared?
When i stretch and feel that you're there
So shut your mouth
Because these words will speak themselves
I can feel them in these blankets
And they're surrounding your figure
Embraced in the quilts
And i cant help but think
You're my missing puzzle piece”
This song is so beautiful- with references to helping a partner through anxiety, and being just like ones mother... a lot of this dynamic in my mind is Luke and Alex reminding each other that they exist, that life is wide and bright, that they’re alive. This gives a window into Luke’s inner feelings as well.
24. Come on, Mess Me Up by Cub Sport
“I found comfort, I fell in love with avoiding problems
But I want this, you know I want this
So come on, mess me up
And you can break me, if you'll still take me
Ruin me, if you'll let me be one of the ones you say you won't forget”
At some point, they become more reckless about their feelings, a little less level headed about their arrangement. Intimacy is an escape.
25. Please Never Fall In Love Again by Ollie MN
“This is what it's like to be lovers
You and me need never be lonely again
Spin with me endlessly or at least until the end
Please never fall in love again”
As usually happens with these arrangements, feelings are caught. Luke and Alex consider making things more serious.
26. Can I Call You Tonight? by Dayglow
“Batteries drain, I get the memo
I think that I might have to let you go
So can I call you tonight?
I'm trying to make up my mind
Just how I feel
Could you tell me what's real?”
The end of their relationship is near, and Alex is unsure. You can decide if this takes place before or after they die.
27. Wicked Game by Chris Isaak
“I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you
No, I don't wanna fall in love with you”
Eventually these relationships all start to feel like games, don’t they?
28. Perfect by The Smashing Pumpkins
“So far I still know who you are
But now I wonder who I was
Angel, you know it's not the end
We'll always be good friends”
Another song about the end of a relationship, and finding yourself again. There’s a bit of resentment there, but they are learning to be friends again.
29. Miss Missing You by Fall Out Boy
“Maybe I'll burn a little brighter tonight
Let the fire breathe me back to life
Baby you were my picket fence
I miss missing you, now and then”
They’ve gotten over each other and become friends again, but are still nostalgic for the past. Bonus points for references about coming back to life.
30. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day
“For what it's worth
It was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life”
Ah yes, the song everyone uses to commemorate bittersweet ends- it’s the perfect clincher for this playlist.
I hope you all enjoy listening!

Can you tell us a few pieces of info on Ray and Amelia?
Ray
Ray is one of the four main Auradon kids in my Descendants rewrite. She's lived a very nice life, with her dreams and ambitions always being supported by her loving parents. She's a literal ray of sunshine, almost always smiling, laughing, and enjoying her life. She inherited her father's michevious tendencies and mother's gifts for art and music, as well as her magical glowing hair. Not that Ray would know, because Rapunzel and Eugene never told her or taught her the encantation to use it.
Ray is an out lesbian and best friends with Hercules and Meg's son Myles (#lesbianandhimbosolidarity). She considers most people her friends and really exemplifies the Disney Princess values of kindness and friendship.
Amelia
Amelia is another one of the main AK's and the daughter of Alice Kingsley. She's a bit mad, judt like her mother, and its made her a bit of an outcast at Auradon Prep. She's a weirdo in the best of ways, always jumping from one idea to the next and keeping everyone around her on their toes. Most people think she doesn't realize that she's being ridiculed or made fun of but that isn't true. She knows she just doesn't know how to deal with it.
She is very interested by the VK's when they come to Auradon and after they see the way that the other "good guys" treat Amelia, they immediately take her under their wing. She becomes particularly close with Hans' daughter Helena because I am a sucker for opposites attract. Helena wants to understand Amelia better and Amelia just likes spending time with the weird girl that's so obsessed with her image.

Discovery 3x11 “Su’Kal: My Thoughts
Oh my gosh, I just LOVE anything about the Kelpiens and their culture! And Saru - oh Saru! My heart! And the fact that he gets to sing again! He has such a beautiful, tender voice! I just love Saru so much, he has the biggest heart and exemplifies the ideals of Starfleet to the highest degree. The way the story unfolded and his recalling the memories of his planet, omg, I was wanting to weep.
And the mystery of the Burn has had a very unique origin! Props to the writing team for coming up with something original and compelling and totally unexpected! Even if the science of it may be a little sketchy, at best.
I got some serious Alice in Wonderland vibes in this eps, that aspect of them entering into this world created for Su’Kal and how he meets different holos, interacting with them, having conversations/learning, and then there is the Mythical Monster (Jabberwocky) that has to be defeated. Although, it also reminds me a lot of Pan’s Labyrinth too, come to think of it! It was so creepy and cool!
I also have to say that Culber is growing on me as a character. I always found him a little annoying, a little bland, and little too saccharine, but I like his harder edge now, and practical, but empathetic viewpoint. They seem to have a better sense of who he is as a character.
Also, I love how Book is part of the team.
AND CAN WE JUST SAY CAPTAIN TILLY. SHE WAS KILL’IN IT!
I love how super hardcore she was being, which freaked out her crewmates. They were looking at each other like, “uuuh, Tilly???” You can definitely see the iron in her! She is made the Chair!
My only problem is with Osyraa and the Emerald Chain. They are so juvenile and annoying, and somehow just all-powerful all of sudden. I haven’t liked any of the story threads that have focused on this “Big Bad”. Couldn’t they have thought of someone better? I mean from the second episode this season, that one guy Zareh who the Courier over the mining colony, had WAY more impressive and sinister screen presence! I was actually thinking, at the time, he was going to be a reoccurring villain. Now I am wishing that he was right now, because Osyraa is a storybook childish villain. Oh! It would have made for an awesome showdown between Zareh and Tilly, as there was that amazing tension between them at the time, as he underestimated her completely! *sigh* Oh well. I am just happy the writers have done such an outstanding job as they have done this season. One can’t have it all!

❍❍❍ TV MOVIE ❍❍❍
The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1930s. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 19340 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famo(Alice et le maire (2020) introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the (Alice et le maire (2020) spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 19440 World MOVIE inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the (Alice et le maire (2020) took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the (Alice et le maire (2020) occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came j(Alice et le maire (2020)t one year later. In 19402, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.
❍❍❍ Formats and Genres ❍❍❍
See also: List of genres § Film and television formats and genres Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional MOVIE). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows.[citation needed] A drama program (Alice et le maire (2020)ually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little.[citation needed] If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was (Alice et le maire (2020)ually undone by the end. Beca(Alice et le maire (2020)e of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order.[citation needed] Since the 1980s, many MOVIE feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television MOVIE to have this kind of dramatic structure,[4][better source needed] while the later MOVIE Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run.[citation needed] In 2020, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ Becomingenues than film.[5] Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2020, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television.

Heavy/Alternative Music Genres Tier List Based Purely on How Much I Like Them
Taken from a YouTube video I saw today from my favorite channel, The Punk Rock MBA by Finn Mckenty - there was a link to this in the description to make your own. Full explanation of why I put what where under the cut.
It was a little bit of a challenge to place these because I like almost all of these genres to some extent. In order to decide how much I like them relatively, I had to consider factors like how frequently I actually listen to them, how many different bands in a genre I listen to/how much I really know about it, and how much of an impact it’s had on me personally. Also, I have an idea from watching this and every other video on his channel what bands Mckenty means when he talks about a certain genre, so I tried to go off that more than my personal definition since he made the chart. S TIER: - Best Music I’ve Ever Heard
Ska - I fucking love ska and listen to it most days, plain and simple.
Deathcore - same goes, really. Many of my favorite metal bands are actually deathcore.
Skate punk - possibly my favorite iteration of punk music. This is bands like NOFX, Lagwagon, and Pennywise. Can get as gnarly as RKL and as poppy as No Use For a Name.
Melo Death - I think most of my favorite metal bands that aren’t deathcore are melodic death metal. It’s a pretty broad genre if you ask me but includes The Back Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth, At The Gates, and Children of Bodom. A Tier: More of My Favorites
Djent - if you’re not familiar with the term, djent is an onomatopoeia that refers to the sound of a low power chord on a guitar. Meshuggah more or less pioneered the sound, but a lot of newer deathcore at least has a djent influence.
Metalcore 1.0 - this is bands that sound like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. I listened to a lot of this in my late teens and early 20s.
Death Metal - gotta love it. I just wish some of the older bands had better recording quality.
Mall Screamo - so when Mckenty says “mall screamo” he includes mall emo in that; it includes Fall Out Boy, MCR, and the Used as well as, I’m assuming, bands like Senses Fail, Aiden, or Hawthorne Heights. I have fond memories of lots of this stuff and have branched out more into both the more pop punk and post hardcore flavors of it recently.
B Tier: I Like It
Easycore: The first time I heard an easycore song was when I heard Playing Dead by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! on a Spotify playlist. It was such an aggressive mashup of metalcore and pop punk that I was immediately obsessed. Easycore is awesome but it is still pretty new to me.
Real Punk - in this context this means anything from The Sex Pistols to The Casualties to GBH. This sort of thing can be kind of hit or miss for me; I love the Casualties and Blanks 77 and bands that do this sound well, like The Exploited, do it really well. However, they have a lot of copycats, and the bands that aren’t so memorable (and even some that punk purists stand by) have a sound that I like but that all sounds exactly the same. Ultimately, a lot of the stuff that got put in this category often lacks the creativity and fun that my favorite punk music has.
Thrash Metal - I do really love Slayer, and I was always a fan of Kreator and Sodom. . Hardcore - Hardcore can be such a broad term, but to me it does have a pretty specific sound though, like The Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, or Terror, though it can also include older bands like Minor Threat and bands like H20. I think hardcore punk to me is something older and slightly different that influenced both hardcore and other kinds of American punk, but maybe I’m just being picky and not paying as much attention to some bands’ later discography.
C Tier: I Dabble in It
Nu Metal - I love Slipknot and I like Korn (and I guess Linkin Park are considered Nu Metal) but I don’t really listen to any other Nu Metal bands. I like what I’ve heard but haven’t dug too deep into the genre. Maybe it’s time to go find a Spotify playlist?
Butt Rock - butt rock is Nothin’ But Rock: that sort of post-grunge radio rock that was popular in the 2000s. I think bands like Nickleback, Creed, Staind, and Puddle of Mudd exemplify this sound, but it also includes bands like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, and maybe even Disturbed, which I like. I remember a bunch of these kind of songs fondly, ngl. Crab Core - this refers to bands that played their instruments while standing in a crab like position. This is like the 2010s metalcore: Attack Attack!, I See Stars, Asking Alexandria, We Came as Romans, etc. I never got super into most of this stuff except for a few songs here and there.
Grunge - I do really like Nirvana and I like most songs I’ve heard by Pearl Jam, Alice and Chains, and Soundgarden, but I can’t say this is a genre that’s had a big influence on me or that I’ve cared to dive deep into, which is why I decided not to rate it higher. Like, I listen to it a little bit but it’s not my favorite sound ever.
TRL-Core Pop Punk - this is what I think of when I think of when I think pop punk as opposed to 90s bands that were considered pop punk at the time but are just punk now. It’s bands that were on TRL like Blink 182 and New Found Glory. I was just a little too young for this at its peak, and while I’m just starting to develop a taste for it now it’s always been a little too poppy for my tastes.
D Tier: I Can Take It or Leave It
Black Metal - believe it or not, this was one of the first metal genres I listened to and enjoyed, but over time it just got really overshadowed. A lot of these D and E tier genres have 1 band that I really like, and so I do love Watain but never found another black metal band that could match them for me. Many of their albums have way better production than what the genre is known for though, and in general I tend to like bands with a black metal influence more than I like black metal itself. Neo Thrash - both this and New School Old School Death Metal are bands that sound just like the old stuff but were started only a few years ago. The thing is, I like these but haven’t delved much into them because there’s just so many metal bands between that and the old stuff that I tend to only spend time on whatever strikes me as unique or exceptional.
Nu School OSDM - same as Neo Thrash.
E Tier: I Don’t Really Care For It (But I Won’t Mind If Someone Else Puts It On)
Power Metal - I’ve tried to get into power metal but I just can’t. It’s not my thing.
Grindcore - I really like Insect Warfare but other than that, grindcore is another genre that just strikes me as kind of boring and repetitive on the whole.
F Tier: I Hate It
Midwest Emo - I’d heard the term before, didn’t know what it sounded like, looked it up, and I hate it.
Emo Rap - this is a very new type of rap that sometimes has some guitar sounds and has vocal parts that sound like they could have come out of a pop punk song. It’s cool stuff musically but I just don’t like the way it sounds.

❍❍❍ Formats and Genres ❍❍❍ See also: List of genres § Film and television formats and genres Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). The PRxPRince Experience
It’s been nearly five months so it’s high time I finally wrote up my review ^^; In April of this year I had the pleasure to see Machida Nanoka’s directorial debut show, PRxPRince. This show was also the first solo lead for Snow Troupe’s Towaki Sea (Hitoko). As this was the first bow hall show I have seen the theatre is much smaller than the Grand Theatres with no balcony and holds a little over 500 people.
The intimacy of the show is doubled with the cast of 30 people who all get to shine during the show. There are enough additional scenes for everyone in the cast to play important roles and it also showcases a lot of the younger actresses as well.
All bias aside, PRxPRince is a fantastic show and is possibly my favorite Takarazuka show that I have seen yet. With the combined powers of Machida sensei’s writing and Hitoko’s sensual charm onstage they somehow created a show that is both very fun and extremely lethal. Before the show premiered just from the interviews it was evident that Machida sensei knew exactly what she was doing. She had been a fan of Takarazuka for a number of years and it shows in the final result.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
The show opens with the three ministers of Pecchieno, the Genovia-like country in which the story takes place, who are trying to figure out a way to get the country out of financial difficulties. Caspar (Kanou Yuuri) and Elias (Ichika Ao) have very different views on how to go about this dilemma with Caspar being very old-fashioned and Elias being a Millennial and very social media savvy. Damian (Yume Maoto) is kind of the moderator between them and the one who ends up suggesting the ultimate way to solve the country’s issues (which will be revealed later on).
The next scene is a PR campaign video that introduces Victor (Hitoko), the oldest prince of Pecchieno as well as his two younger brothers, Valentin (Aya Ouka) and Valtteri (Ayami Sera). The opening song “Welcome to Pecchieno” is one of the catchiest songs in the show and gets reprised later on, inevitably becoming an earworm for anyone who hears it. What should be noted about the opening is that Victor’s glasses are removed before the start of the PR campaign video so Hitoko’s blue contact lenses and smooth blonde hair are on full display. And it is truly devastating! (Sidenote: I had no idea that the intro song actually introduces the rest of the cast who come onstage briefly until my last time seeing the show because I had my opera glasses focused on Hitoko for the other 6).
The next time we see Victor he is dressed in a parka, tennis shoes, a lab coat, and has large round glasses and messy hair. Victor is the leader of a group of scientists whose goal it is to find a solution to the polluting problems from the neighboring country (though this plotline might have changed since the director’s talk cause there was probably something I missed but I tried my best to follow along with the laboratory scenes). Elle (Jun Hana) is one of the scientists who really likes Victor and Victor really likes her. They are very adorable and awkward together. They are also both incredibly intelligent. Elle is seen as very smart but also fierce and is not one you want to mess with (she does Karate poses).
During another PR campaign tactic the princes are literally being mobbed by fangirls (listed as Fangirl 1-6 in the program) in order to promote tourism. At one point during a struggle Victor’s glasses fall off and he falls to the ground. He then emits a very unsumire moan. Suddenly, the lights change to a vivid bright green and music starts. Victor lifts up his head but his entire demeanor has changed. It is revealed during this song that this is in fact Christopher and he is searching for his goddess. The awkward prince Victor is replaced by Christopher, a very handsome, cocky, and aggressive version who makes every girl around him fall to the ground in delight. This reveal was so secret during the press for PRxPRince before I saw the show that I knew that Hitoko would be both extremely kawaii and extremely ikemen but I didn’t realize that Victor would change into a completely different person!
Through a flashback scene told by Alice (Sahana Mako), the family’s nurse, it is revealed that because Victor was just TOO BEAUTIFUL and maids had to flee the room because they just couldn’t handle it, a hypnotist is brought in to put a spell on Victor that allows his ikemen side to stay hidden when he has the glasses on. However, the side effect is that when the glasses get removed his ikemen side is so extra and over the top that he is literally a completely different person. In the show there are two songs that feature Victor and his Shadow which is the other side of him. The Shadow (Houka Haruna) is distant for the first song and represents Christopher behind him in the background. The second song is started by Christopher and the Shadow comes out wearing glasses. In the middle of the song the Shadow puts the glasses on Christopher. When he turns around he is once again Victor. The glasses are then removed completely and they have a duet dance together. The transitions from one to the other are incredible and it shows off Hitoko’s acting skills in the best possible way. It isn’t just the glasses that make the change. As Victor, Hitoko speaks and sings in a higher register that is closer to her natural speaking voice, she stutters more, her posture is often bent forward, has more outbursts and exclamations and is also portrayed as very sensitive. As Christopher, Hitoko is in full dangerous otokoyaku-killing mode; her speaking and singing voice is deeper, her posture is straight, she is more confident, aggressive, and controlling. Christopher also speaks in a very old-fashioned way and gives off an air as otherworldly in many ways. Another neat thing is that Victor addresses himself as “Boku” and addresses Elle as “Elle-san”. Christopher uses “Ore” when referring to himself and just says “Elle”.
Elle faces a crisis at one point when Christopher tries to make a move and she slaps him. She immediately panics when she thinks that she has hurt Victor though and tries to figure out what happened to her sweet awkward boyfriend. Her and Victor sing a duet towards the audience in separate rooms. The song is later reprised after Victor admits that he likes Elle and they sing it to each other in a very tender moment. Jun Hana has a very Disney princess vibe to her which is exemplified whenever she’s around Hitoko who has an equally Disney prince vibe. They are characters who could literally be in a shoujo manga. While Jun Hana does not have the strongest singing voice per se, she makes it work here.
Victor’s brothers, Valentin and Valterri are also rather amusing to watch. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed watching Aya’s performance as Valentin. She was VERY extra. Valentin is a true narcissist and has long flowing locks. He also tends to play with the ends of his hair and is the MOST dramatic person I have ever seen. He pines after a girl he once knew called Diana and throughout the show tries to pursue a girl of the same name played by Seina Nozomi who he’s convinced is the same one he once loved. Valterri is the youngest brother and is obsessed with working out. He’s very impulsive and doesn’t really think things through which gets him in trouble later on (Victor and Valentin silently scold him at one point which is funny since both of them are using big gestures on the side of the stage while other characters are talking). He is also head over heels in love with Marie (Irodori Michiru), the sister of the rival country’s ruler, Queen Lily (Ai Sumire). Ayami Sera did a really good job at playing the bratty younger brother who just wants to have fun. This was probably her biggest role to date so far too so she got to show off her singing as well.
Speaking of Ai Sumire I need to talk about her because she was one of the most phenomenal parts of this show! She is portrayed as a campy villain with a very extra evil laugh. But DANG the girl has the most powerful voice and even gets the only vocal song in the finale! Catch me singing “IKEMEN! I-KE-MEN!” constantly. Lily is almost always surrounded by her posse made up of Rose (Shouno Chio) who is more or less her secretary who always carries an iPad with her to let Queen Lily know about the latest thing that their neighboring country is up to and Garrett (Kiraha Reo) who is Lily’s erm...really hot boytoy/bodyguard? What was quite surprising for me the first time I saw it was that Garrett does not speak AT ALL in the show. He whispers behind his hands to Lily but other than that he is completely silent and yet, the way that Kiraha (Kari) presents herself onstage even without saying a word is mesmerizing to watch. She just emits the most brooding otokoyaku energy that is mostly reserved for kuroenbis in revues. Garrett smokes, casually checks his watch, and performs a tango with Lily and I cannot stop LOOKING AT HIM ONSTAGE! Even when other characters are talking onstage if Garrett is there (save for when Victor is present) my eyes would float over to him just to watch him stare into the ether and make the slowest and most deliberate of gestures.
Of course, no true royal comedy would happen without the king and queen themselves. King Anselm (Souno Haruto) and Queen Beatrice (Maisaki Rin) are the parents of the V3 (the campaign name for the three hot princes). King Anselm is very attached to everything he owns especially his expensive collection of various artifacts. Queen Beatrice is just trying to have a nice time and wants everyone to be happy again. They are also IMMENSELY in love and get very lovey-dovey in front of their boys who are all grossed out by their displays of affection. Given that the two actresses are also classmates they play off of each other really well and have a very nice relationship that is enhanced through that. They play an important role to the story and Maisaki Rin (Hime) even gets a moment of adlibbing.
One of the great things about PRxPRince was actually the amount of adlibs that were included with each performance. There are several moments in the script where adlibs occur for each performance, similar in the way of the adlibs in shows like Lupin III and Bakumatsu Taiyouden occur. Even though you can tell these adlibs are planned out somewhat in advance it’s nice to see the actresses work with things that are also on the spot sometimes since not everything is completely planned out. Some were funnier than others but that’s all part of the fun of the show and just finding a good balance with the audience. Personally I loved the adlibs even though I couldn’t understand some of them sometimes. Other things that were adlibbed were little gestures here and there that the characters would do that were different with each performance. One of my favorites was watching Kari scold Michiru at one point and one performance Kari leaned over Michiru so much that Michiru’s tiara had bounced back onto her head as she came up. The adlibs definitely made each performance I saw unique and lots of fun especially when the show was in the middle of Japan’s naming for the new era and suddenly 平成 (Heisei) and 令和 (Reiwa) adlibs were added to the mix.
As the ministers figure out the next part in the V3 PR campaign Damian suggests that they host a ball in order to find eligible matches for the princes. A lot of stuff goes down in Act 2 during the ball including Marie showing off her pet bug to literally everyone within range, Elle finding said bug and actually communicating with it, Garrett and Rose playing musical instruments, Valentin doing a slow baywatch walk, and Victor expressing his true feelings towards Elle. At the very end of the show Victor and Elle actually go into the audience to do high-touches with those lucky to be on the aisle seats (alas, I was not one of them). One of the best moments was from the final performance when Top Stars Nozomi Fuuto and Maya Kiho were in the audience and I was able to see Hitoko shake both of their hands in a very sincere gesture since she was so happy both of them could make it to the show.
I talked a bit about the music before but OH MY GOD this show’s music is incredible! It’s very catchy and pleasing to the ear. A lot of the songs are slightly reminiscent of older Takarazuka shows but are also not too old-fashioned sounding. A lot of brass and strings are used in the songs which is very enjoyable. The finale takes it one step further though and incorporates electric guitar.
Yes, I am going to spend an entire paragraph just on the finale because it deserves to be talked about. After the happy ending of the show intense rock music is played as the curtain rises to three figures: Ai Sumire, Kari, and Shouno Chio. A rock version of “Lily’s Song” is played and it is THE BEST THING EVER! After my first viewing I always looked forward to the finale because it starts off super strong and doesn’t disappoint. Ai Sumire is the only one who gets to sing in the finale which is appropriate considering her voice is amazing and is one of the best singers in Yukigumi imo (Daikiho aside, of course). After the villainous trio have their number Hitoko sneakily walks onstage to stand on a platform. She is dressed in a dark blue coat with gold trim and a silk wine red shirt on beneath it. Her blonde wig stays on for the entire time. An instrumental rendition of “Two souls” is played as she descends the stairs, dancing fluidly and gracefully like a swan and takes front and center. The “fuu!” that emits from her lips is enough to make the audience shatter into 1000 pieces. They have fallen under their prince’s spell with the lure of Hitoko’s sanpakugan (this was so effective I was unable to watch this part of the finale with the opera glasses because it was THAT powerful). The rest of the otokoyaku join her shortly afterwards in a dance which evolves into an instrumental “Diana” as Hitoko takes off to change into her next costume while Ayana leads. After the otokoyaku dance they scatter and the musumeyaku all appear in lovely pink dresses. Hitoko has changed into a Prince Charming white military uniform and dances in the center, surrounded by beautiful women, which honestly, the dream. A shift in the music starts and one by one the ladies leave the stage until there is one remaining. But even SHE isn’t the goddess that our prince seeks. Jun Hana makes her way onto a small platform in a gold ball gown similar in style to Belle’s from Beauty and the Beast. When Hitoko turns around and sees her it’s like a wave of happiness rolls through them both and they have a classic waltz set to an instrumental version of “Someday My Prince Will Come” from Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is canonically one of the purest moments in the entire show even though the entire time I watched it I prayed that Hitoko would not trip over Jun Hana’s massive ballgown. The only mishap I saw was on the first day when while twirling Jun Hana to the side she slipped ever so slightly but managed to catch herself gracefully. After their intimate dance they exit together and the curtain call rolls.
This show brought together so many hearts and it was so refreshing to see Yukigumi do a comedy bow hall since it has not been done since the early 2000s. I love this show more than I have loved any Takarazuka show and I feel blessed that I was able to see it live as many times as I did and to be able to share this wonderful experience with others.

Oh Look I Have New Alice: Asylum Ideas
*skids into frame and crashes into the wall* Okay yeah, this isn't Forgotten Vows Friday related, and I've already done a post on how I would do the Alice: Asylum game myself, but I was on the Alice Wiki recently, looking up the Ash Dress and reading through the current summary of how the plot might roughly go, based on what’s been shared so far, and I was suddenly smacked in the face with an idea and I kind of have to share it with all of you:
-->Okay, so my original idea was a survival horror/puzzler sort of thing, with a slowly-growing older Alice dealing with fiery monsters chasing her through a maze version of Rutledge. Let's keep that, but intersperse it with the Wonderland chapters McGee's got going. We follow the 5 stages of grief (not trying to shove it into 7 or 8 like McGee's trying to do) -- Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance.
-->I like "Denial" being the "happy Vale of Tears kind of Wonderland where everyone says everything's fine, but you can see the growing cracks, as exemplified by the dress that's perfect in the front but all burnt and bloody in the back," and Bargaining being "Hatter's Domain in the process of being fully mechanized as he works to save his injured friends, only to start losing sight of why he's doing it." I think the proposed Moon level (you know, the one that was cut out of A:MR) would work well for Depression -- fleeing everything to try and hide in the dark and cold, feeling like nothing could ever be happy or good again. I'm not sure what the "Anger" level would be yet -- but I know it's not McGee's proposed one, where Alice ends up plunging back into the fire. Why?
-->Because that's going to be "Acceptance." Sort of. . . you see, Alice goes into the burning wreckage of her house to confront her memories of what happened that night and to deal with her grief. And as she walks through, she starts having visions of the people she's lost. Except. . .except the house seems bigger than it should be. Grander. And while we see an adult male figure, it doesn't look like Alice's father. And there's no sign of Alice's mother or sister at all. There do seem to be a lot of little kids, though, asking what happened, why they couldn't escape. . .and as she is questioned by these mysterious phantoms, Alice starts ranting about how "she" let them die, "she" let them burn, this is all "her" fault -- in a way that makes it obvious she's not talking about herself. . .
-->Now, to pull back for a moment, one of the enemies (an important one, according to McGee) of the proposed Alice: Asylum is Shadow Alice. (Actually, from the wiki write-up, there might be two Shadow Alices, but let's concentrate on one for now.) From the concept art I've seen, she kind of looks like a bunch of tentacles with an Alice suit. (Ew, yes.) In my version, you'd be fighting this Shadow Alice periodically throughout the Wonderland levels, though you'd never really "best" her -- she'd always disappear after a while. You could also see her lurking in the various landscapes. Her final appearance is this: Alice spots her at the end of a hallway in the fiery house and runs toward her --
Only to realize that she was running toward a mirror. With the Shadow Alice being her reflection.
And then, with tears streaming from her eyes, Alice throws her head back and screams as the tentacles finally rip free --
"OFF WITH HER HEAD!!!"
Which means, surprise, the Wonderland Alice? Was never Alice at all.
YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING AS THE QUEEN OF HEARTS. JUST BEFORE SHE COMPLETELY LOSES HER OLD SELF AND TAKES OVER WONDERLAND TO DESTROY IT.
Now, let me explain why this is an awesome idea, at least in my opinion:
-->This allows us to have the Wonderland adventure that everyone wants, with all the cool dresses and whatnot.
-->I think it's a hell of a cool twist, and builds on the idea that the Queen is Alice's shadow or whatever you want to call it -- we know that the Queen does canonically look like Alice, at least sometimes!
-->No freaking "memory drug" retcon to tie it in with AMA! If we're playing as the Queen in the Wonderland segments, then we keep AMA as Alice's first trip to Wonderland after the fire! And we don't have to play any more havoc with the timeline either, because we never have to specify how old Alice is at any point! The Queen can look like any age Alice we (and she) wants! And we can keep the ages vague in the "actually playing in Alice in Rutledge puzzle hell" segments too.
So yeah, hoping someone else thinks this is a cool idea! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need an ice pack. *limps off, leaving an imprint in the wall*
#alice: asylum#ideas post#how I would do it#I admit this whole thing was inspired by reading the description of the potential 'Anger' level#and going: a) honestly I think if there's going to be any trip back into the fire it should happen at the END of the game#b) 'rational talk by the Queen' MCGEE DO YOU KNOW YOUR OWN CHARACTERS#and JUST LIKE THAT#I haven't been following the development because I have little actual interest in a prequel#but I do like some of the dress designs#and some of the ideas presented on the wiki#it probably COULD be good#I just think the best way to handle it would be something like this#instead of the weird retcon stuff#I'm under no illusions this'll become official in any way#but hell if I ever need to do anything that references the prequel time period#this might be the idea I use#queued
