Christmas Comfort
Plot: You expected to be spending this Christmas alone, left with your own thoughts and loneliness. But your boyfriend and best friends have a surprise for you.
Pairing: Han Jisung x Gn!Reader (est. relationship) + Reader & Stray Kids
A/n's: I'm gonna be real with you, this fic is entirely self serving and a comfort fic for myself. I lost both of my parents this year and they were the only close family I had left. So I will be alone for Christmas for the first time. So I wanted to write something to give myself a little comfort, and help anyone else who might be in a similar situation. I did not give any particulars for why the reader is alone, so hopefully more people can relate if they are alone this Christmas too.
Warnings: Mentions of loneliness, general sadness. Angsty but comforting.
Words: 2k
It felt odd, being alone for Christmas. Before, you would be celebrating with family or friends, enjoying the usual traditions, foods, and movies. You'd have fun decorating the house and the tree. But it was all different this year.
The traditions became memories. The foods unmade; the movies unwatched. Aside from a few decorations you set around your apartment, nothing in your home told you it was Christmas at all. No lights. No tree. No presents. Nothing.
You never really expected that it would end just like that.
If you had known last Christmas would have been the last one you had the way you were used to, you would have cherished it more.
It wasnât that you hated Christmas now, or didnât want to celebrate, you just didnât see the point. Not when you were alone.
You enjoyed talking to your boyfriend Han about all the things he was doing with his family, the group chat between you and the boys was lively. You didnât tell them how you were feeling, or that you were completely alone. They knew things were different this year, but you had hidden a lot of it from them.
You didnât want to take away their joy of celebrating with their families after working so hard. They had all been gone for about a week now, and you admittedly did miss them. Their presence made it a lot easier for you to escape the threatening emotions lingering beneath. Now that they were gone, it was getting harder. Â
It was three days before Christmas, and you could feel it slowly getting harder to feel nothing.
When the boys asked you what you were doing, you never really lied, but you didnât tell them the whole truth. Yes, you did bake Christmas cookies, but they were for your neighbors you barely even knew. You did decorate, by putting a wreath on your door, and setting out a couple cute pillows.
You werenât necessarily sad or disappointed in not having a real Christmas this year. But you had to admit, it feltâŚempty. Nothing would feel the same again and you knew that. But next year, it will be different. It wonât be as difficult to find the familiar Christmas joy. But this year, you would have to grow comfortable with your own company for now. And just hope that the lingering feeling deep in your gut wonât become too unbearable.
You could do this. You can do it. It will be okay. You may be lonely now, but you arenât alone.
Looking at the group chat as an array of messages came through, you smiled and scoffed at the jokes and playful insults. Something clenched in your chest, and you took a deep breath.
You had such a good handle on your emotions. You were doing okay. Youâre okay.
âIâm okay.â You mumbled to yourself, trying to settle your quivering heart.
Setting aside your phone, you went back to reading your book, forgetting about the group chat, and missing the slow awareness by the others that you were slowly talking less and less over the last few days.
You were also unaware of the conversations going on in the group chat you werenât a part of. The discussions of a plan nearly finished.
Did you think they wouldnât notice? How you would slowly drop from the conversations that centered around Christmas. That you would be excited for everyone but give vague replies when it came to yourself. Did you think they didnât know you were alone? That you were hurting in ways you were too afraid to worry them with?
You were family. Even if you convinced yourself, you werenât as important as that to them.
Han tried to bring you back to visit his family with him, but you had to work. But he also knew it was because it would be difficult for you to adjust right now, to being in the middle of someone elseâs Christmas, someone elseâs traditions, you wanted familiarity. But you no longer had that.
It was Hanâs plan originally, to go home as early as he could, celebrate with his family, and return to you. When the others heard this, they wanted to join too. They all knew how hard this year was for you. And how hard you were trying to hide it. They wanted you to know you werenât alone, they didnât want you to wallow in your own pain.
âHello?â You asked with a smile as you answered Hanâs call.
âBabbyyyy.â He said loudly, making you chuckle.
âYes?â
âWhat are you doing?â
âI just went on a walk remember. Oh, then I stopped at a little cafĂŠ, but Iâ, heading back home now. How about you? Did you go to the market with your mom?â
âNope!â
âOh, then what?â
âI was preparing a secret Christmas surprise.â
âUh oh.â
âUh-oh? What do you mean uh-oh?!â His sassy tone made you laugh. âIâll have you know itâs the best surprise Iâve ever pulled off!â
âOh really? What is this surprise then?â
âIâm not telling you now!â
You laughed, âOh come on! I wanna know!â
âYou really wanna know?â
âYes.â
âLet me ask you something first.â
âOkay?â
âAre you okay?â
Your heart jumped a bit, and you let out a soft laugh, though it was forced. âWhat?â
âYou havenât been responding to the group chat, and your texts with me are always vague. I wanted to know if you were lying about being okay.â
Your heart was pounding a bit now, âWhy are you suddenly asking that?â
âBecause I want you to know I noticed. That I didnât miss it. That none of us did.â
You stopped in your tracks for a moment, how could you expect Han to not notice you werenât okay? He noticed everything about you, even when he wasnât there. It was one of the reasons you loved him so much. He saw you, in ways no one else did.
The boys too. They were always there when you needed them, even when you didnât ask. They always noticed when you went quiet for a little too long. They noticed when you seemed withdrawn or evasive. And then they wouldnât leave you alone until you told them everything. Â
Halfway through your walk today, you spent a little too long thinking about the things you no longer had. You cried. For the first time in a while. You had always stopped the tears before they fell, but today you couldnât.
It was Christmas and you were so sad.
But Han made you smile, and you loved him for that. And now he was telling you he knew, somehow, that you werenât okay anymore. That you failed at keeping it together.
âYou knew this Christmas was going to be a hard one for me.â You said softly.
He asked if you wanted him to stay, to not go home, but you refused. You would not take that from him, no matter what was going on with you. So, he left, reluctantly, but he left.
âOf course I knew.â
You felt tears brimming in your eyes again as you reached your door. âI was just hoping I was wrong.â You finished softly.
âHey baby?â Hanâs voice was suddenly quiet.
âHmm?â You unlocked your door, waiting for his response.
âMerry Christmas.â
As the door swung open, you came face to face with not only Han, phone still to his ear, but all of the boys, sitting around your living room. Their faces held smiles, as they anxiously waited for your reaction to them being here.
Your house was covered in Christmas lights and decorations. And in the previously empty corner, was a large Christmas tree. On the wall, a line of stockings filled with what you assumed was candy.
Littering the tables and floor were various loose decorations, tinsel and boxes. You assumed while you had gone out, Han, having his own key, snuck all of them in and they decorated your house as much as they could before you returned.
âWh- how-âyou hesitated as you looked around at them in surprise.
âSurprise!â They all cheered out, Changbin tossing tinsel in the air as Lee Know twirled around some ribbon.
Your eyes locked with Hanâs as he slowly put down the phone with a grin. Unable to stop the sudden emotions that came over you, tears became obvious as you stared at them all, still in shock, but overcome with emotions you had been repressing.
Their faces changed from bright smiles to looks of concern mixed with relief. This is what they wanted, but they hated it at the same time. You needed to let everything out that you had been holding in. And now it was happening.
Han rushed forward and pulled you into a hug, the others stood around, allowing him the moment as you cried into his shoulder.
He gently swayed you as he hushed you and gently rubbed his hands down your back. âI know baby. But Iâm here now, okay?â
Slowly, the others surrounded you, hugging you and patting your head, giving you comforting words and reassurance.
After a few moments you stepped away from Han and looked around at them before letting out a strangled laugh, knowing you must look terrible now. âWhy did you all come here?â
âBecause youâre our family Y/n.â Chris said as if it was obvious. âAnd we never leave our family alone.â
âWeâre sorry we didnât tell you we were going to come back.â Felix added in, âOriginally it was just Hanâs idea, then we all decided we wanted to surprise you too.â
âWe hated that you were suffering alone without telling us.â Hyunjin broke in, a frown on his face.
You looked at Han, âYou were always planning on coming back early?â
He nodded, âYou told me I had to go see my family, I did.â
âBut itâs Christmas.â
âExactly!â Lee Know said with a somewhat harsh, but at the same time caring, tone, âAnd you were alone. Thatâs unacceptable.â
âWe got to spend time with our families.â Chris started, âAnd now we are doing it again, here, with you.â
You sniffled again as another wave of emotions threatened to spill out. You wanted to protest some more, but you knew there was no point. They were here now, and even if part of you wished they hadnât left their families for you, you were relieved, and so grateful that they cared enough for you to come back.
âThank you.â You mumbled out as you repressed the urge to cry again.
Seungmin ruffled your hair, âDonât cry anymore Y/n, youâre ugly when you cry!â
Turning, you smacked him, making him laugh, which in return made you smile. Changbin grabbed at him while jokingly cursing at him for what he said.
Han grabbed you and pulled you back into his chest as he playfully pointed threateningly at Seungmin before he wrapped his arms protectively around you.
After everyone settled down, and you had finished crying, for the most part. You sat down on the couches as the boys decided to surprise you with presents.
âWhat are all these?â
âWe got you presents, duh!â Seungmin said as he waved one in front of your face.
âOh, wait!â You said as you rose before sprinting off to another room. When you came back, you had a large box in your hand full of wrapped presents. âI planned to give these to you when you came back.â
There was a chorus of âawesâ and gasps as you set down the box of their presents.
âGift exchange!â Han said happily as he pulled you into his lap.
As everyone playfully argued about who should open something first, you looked around at them with a grateful smile.
Yes, the heartache of change still sat heavy in your chest. But one thing that would never change was this. Your found family. The ones who knew you inside and out.
Han, who loved every part of you and accepted you. Who always made you smile and feel wanted.
And your friends, your brothers, who took care of you in ways you never had before.
Yes, things were different now, and the pain of that would still linger for a long time. But you had them. You werenât alone. Not anymore, and never again.
xx End xx
And that's it for the 12 Days of Christmas 2024!
I know if sort of ended on an angsty note, but I hope you all enjoyed the fics!

That year driversâ dinner was organized in a big villa. The atmosphere was beautiful, everyone was having fun. But you know what was funnier?. Jenson and Sebastianâs plan to pull a prank on the other drivers by mysteriously making appear a mistletoe above their heads. After all, whatâs better than playing matchmakers?
The first pair they wanted to fall in their trap were obviously Mark and Fernando. Not only because those two were dancing around each other for years by now, but also because they were undoubtedly the easiest target, assuming that two people who became extremely touchy at any given time would be the most likely to kiss. Their assumption revealed itself, in fact, correct.
It wasnât even that difficult: the two of them were already talking together in a side of the room. All it took was for Jenson to hang the mistletoe above them with a broom handle while Sebastian proceeded to distract them.
The two friends, as expected, werenât very pleased with Seb interrupting their conversation, and they quickly dismissed him by ignoring him.
âThey really wanted alone time.â Sebastian stated with a smirk on his face, once he was back to Jenson.
âWell, letâs see how it plays out. But not from here.â Jenson took Sebastian by his arm and pulled him in the hallway, from where they wouldâve had a better visual.
Just as planned, Markâs head bumped into the mistletoe, and both of them looked upwards. Fernandoâs face turned to a shade of red once he understood the situation.
âOh.â Markâs eyes were back on Fernando, who was trying his best to find something else to look at. âI havenât seen many mistletoes around, we must have ended up under the only one.â
âSi, I guess.â The Spaniard was clearly wishing he could dig a grave for himself in the floor. A small grave would have been enough for his size, he wouldnât take that much to make it.
The taller man seemed uncomfortable too, but overall more collected. âShould we follow the tradition? I mean, if youâre in for it, of course.â
Fernando blushed even more if possible, but nodded nonetheless. âItâs just a tradition, after all.â
Mark didnât let himself be told twice. He leaned down and pressed his lips on his friendâs. Fernando welcomed the kiss, holding him by his shoulder, while the Aussieâs hands fell down to grab his snatched waist.
Jenson and Sebastian exchanged an accomplice look. That was the sign for them to continue with their mission. It suddenly got extremely fun.
Their next target were the two inseparable best friends, because what was funnier than threaten to break a sexual tension lasting years with a Christmas kiss?
This time was even easier to place them right where they wanted. They hung up the mistletoe in the isolated hallway they have been. Jenson then began a conversation with Nico, subtly leading him in that direction, while Sebastian did the same with Lewis. Once they were all together in the designed spot, Jenson and Seb found a way out and left the two alone, under the infamous plant. They sat on a table where they could watch them from afar without being seen.
It was quite frustrating at the beginning, since those two didnât seem to realize where they happened to be, too busy doe-eyeing each other. That, until a berry fell on Lewisâ shoulder.
âI canât believe they really put mistletoes around here.â said Nico, picking up the berry from the Britâs suit.
âThat must be why Mark and Fernando were passionately making out before.â
Nico chuckled, remembering the sight. âCare to imitate them?â
Lewis froze suddenly. He was never out of words, but in that moment he really couldnât find anything meaningful to say, so he just stayed silent.
âWhat? You donât think your masculinity can handle it?â Nico teased him, stepping forward to cancel the empty space between them. âOr youâd rather take it and use it to kiss some pretty girl?â
Lewis didnât believe there could ever exist a girl prettier than Nico. âIs it a challenge?â And God knew how much he loved challenges.
âI donât know, would you accept it?â
Lewis took Nicoâs face in his hand and pulled him in a kiss.
Seb gave Jenson the high five. It was proving all easier than expected.
They decided to have a drink or two before concentrating on their next victims.
âI must say I didnât think it wouldâve gone so smooth. Why is everyone tonight so fucking horny?â Sebastian said in a softer tone, careful not to be heard by anyone but his accomplice, and they both shared a laugh.
âLook,â Jenson got closer to his friend âtell me heâs not dying to kiss Verstappen from the moment he stepped in this place tonight.â He pointed discreetly at Daniel Ricciardo, sat in a table not too far from them, who was too centered on keeping his eyes on Max to hear what they were saying.
The two appeared in front of the poor boy, blocking his sight. Jenson initiated the talk. âHey mate, how you doing?â
Daniel snapped instantly back to reality. âOh. Good, thank you. I was justââ
âYeah, we know.â Seb stopped him, saving him the awkwardness, then took a mistletoe out of their secret mistletoes bag and handled it to him. âWe could have done it for you, but we thought it was more fun if youâd do it yourself.â
The young Aussie looked at the little plant, then at them, a bit confused. Then his big brown eyes widened and his lips parted in realization.
âMax.â Daniel greeted him, after finally finding the courage to approach him.
The boy was sipping casually on his drink. He smiled as soon as he saw his teammate. âHi Danny. Are you having fun?â
The RedBull driver tried to keep the conversation going until he took the decision: it was finally time to shoot his shot. He sneakily dropped the mistletoe without being seen by his friend, then he slyly dropped down his eyes. âOh, look. It must have fallen from the ceiling.â
Max frowned, then picked it up and scanned it, turning it around in his hands. âIt doesnât surprise me. Those two are hanging these damn things around since they arrived. Such a childish tradition.â
âDo you think itâs childish?â asked Daniel, finding it hard to hide the disappointed tone. He was usually able to easily break the tension by saying something funny, but in that moment he found himself out of jokes.
âI mean,â Max tucked his hair behind his ear, letting his nervousness shine through. âTheyâre like the cat and the fox, playing matchmakers, and now everyone is making out. We donât want them to fool us too, right? Not that I donât want to kiss you, butâ Wait, sorry I didnât mean it likeââ he sighed and shook is head âWhat am I saying? Sorry, Iâm being so bad with words. I justââ
His nonsense rumblings were interrupted when Daniel silenced him with a kiss. Max stiffened at first, but when his friendâs hand found his, he relaxed and kissed him back.
Sebastian and Jenson were watching them satisfied, sipping their second drink. Their game then succeeded most of the times for another hour. At least until they accidentally left their mistletoes bag in a corner of the room to go to the bathroom, and when they were back, it wasnât there anymore.
âI knew we shouldnât have gone at the same time.â
So smart of them. âMaybe someone picked it up thinking it was theirs.â
They asked around, but no one seemed to have seen it.
âHas someone lost a navy bag?â Nico Rosbergâs voice resounded suddenly among the people.
âItâs ours!â The two quickly approached the Mercedes driver, soon realizing he wasnât alone. Lewis was with him, and also Max. And Daniel. And Mark with Fernando. Oh.
The Spaniard had his arms crossed. âI think Iâve seen it there.â He pointed to a door.
Seb and Jenson wasted no time and ran in the said direction. It didnât take them very much to notice that they ended up in a room full of mistletoes, all hanging from the roof, from the walls, scattered on the floor and all over the furniture. The door closed behind them.
âI think they caught us.â Jenson commented, looking around. The other driversâ laughters echoed from afar.
âVery perceptive of you.â Sebastian couldnât help an amused smile.
âWe kinda had it coming.â The Brit turned towards him.
âKinda?â Seb shrugged. âIt was inevitable.â His eyes met the other manâs ones, and betrayed his feelings. He couldnât hide them anymore. âSo, what shall we do?â
Jenson tilted his head a bit, his intentions so obvious, so readable on his face. He stepped closer and closer, forcing the other driver to back up against a wall. âWell, it would be very hypocritical of us to avoid the trend at this point.â
âI think so too.â The Germanâs gaze dropped to his lips.
Jenson trapped him by leaning on the wall with one hand. âMay I?â His voice was low and his breathe heavy.
âDonât worry, you donât need your British manners with me.â
They smashed their lips together. They explored each otherâs mouths, savouring each otherâs taste. Sebastianâs hands held him close by behind his neck, while Jensonâs found a way down his body.
When they broke the kiss, they were breathless. Sebastianâs blue doe eyes were still fixated on the other manâs lips. âYou know, I think I saw a mistletoe in my hotel room too.â
Jenson chuckled.

I remember how I used to read tumblr and the more angry and disillusioned someone seemed with society and life, the more valid I thought their point of view was. This is now mostly no longer the case, but when I'm depressed I think I still go there.
#i think there was a lot of 'you personally must do something to fix this vast societal problem!!!'#and also 'your personal self and identity is personally dangerous is me as a marginilised person'#'your words are violence and your presence itself is violence'- these messages i really loved as a kind of emotional self harm#i wasn't used to having my own identity because my abuser never let me have one so the idea of me having one being somehow oppressive#and therefore the idea of me not having one must be good and was helping somehow#and that's why i was closeted for so long- well that and living in my parents' house till my mid-20s i guess#now i realise that the idea i had that my shit feelings helped marginlised people somehow came from my church growing up#suffering is good...but actually me suffering is neutral and feeling like shit is neutral to the world at large#me feeling bad doesn't help others. i liked to pretend it did because i had to justify my existence to myself#as a privileged person but now i realise i also have to live my life because that's all we get! Just the one!#and there's only one way out of doing it and the fact that i was even contemplating that showed how extreme this was all getting#i HAVE to live and i have to understand myself and keep going#and not give up and say 'everything is so shit and as a privileged person i only make things worse so what's the point of doing anything?'#i think a lot of social justice at one point had unintentionally gotten across the idea of 'if you try you will only make things worse#so don't even try'.#i think a lot of people writing back then were having really difficult times and had genuinely difficult lives and i hugely sympathise#i hope all of them are doing really well in 2024 and are living securely and have happiness and joy

never did you think that youâd be stuck in a marriage to a man who didnât love you, but thereâs a first for everything.Â
you should count yourself lucky that heâs not old and bald. heâs pretty. in fact, heâs the prettiest man youâve ever seen. his eyes are the bluest, bluer than the sky. his hair mirrors the winter snows, and his back ripples with muscles whenever he fights.Â
his agility is unlike any other man. he fights swiftly and cleanly, never taking more than a couple minutes to get rid of whatever it was that stood in his way. heâs charming with his words (or so youâve heard), and he knows how to make somebody swoon if he really wants them to.Â
and he seems to despise you.
you had known gojo since you were a child, the two of you running around each other's fields as you chased him with your wooden sword. you remembered watching him in training, wishing him good luck whenever he went on a hunt. you could even remember how he would stutter whenever he tried to talk, something he must have worked on because he never seemed to stutter anymore.Â
he was always nice to you, his cheeks rosy whenever you kissed him goodbye. he was kind back then, grinning brightly whenever he saw you.Â
but as time grew and you with it, and it was only a matter of years before the two of you went your separate ways. it didnât help that once he turned thirteen he had to leave for training and fighting in whatever it was that was needed of him, but you had hoped that he would be able to write back.Â
you would send him letters whenever you could, it was tradition whenever the two of you were separated for too long to do so. each letter telling him about new experiences and embarrassing things that happened in your life, but he never responded. you liked to send one every week, sometimes including little tokens you thought he might enjoy. but you stopped sending them after the first two years and stopped asking about his whereabouts after three.Â
but you were hopeful that when you saw him that night so many months ago, heâd be civil with you. you were nervous, sure, but who could blame you? you had recently gotten news that his time to serve his clan was over and that he was finally back home. it wasnât as though the two of you had left on bad graces, so you were hopeful that he would at least remember you. but he could barely meet your eyes whenever you tried to catch him from across the room, acting as if you had never existed.Â
he looked so different since the last time you had seen him. he was taller than most of the people in the room, his white hair just as bright as it used to be. he had gained muscle mass almost everywhere, and you felt yourself wondering just how much training he had to go through to look this way. you could see him talking to a girl, a smile on his face as he tilted his head to look at her better. you gave him some time to socialize, not wanting to intrude on anything.Â
after an hour you decided that it was long enough, and tried to weave your way through the crowd to get to him. you had tried to call out to him, waving to him despite your mother quickly shoving your hand down, saying how improper it was. he heard you and you knew that he was purposely ignoring you, so you began to feel heavy-hearted after a couple of attempts at trying to catch his attention, eventually giving up.Â
and now, despite you wanting to, you canât even blame him for hating you.Â
ever since your mother caught you, alone with him, a man you hadnât seen in so long, she had swiftly and promptly proposed the idea of marriage only a few days later. it was really to save face for the two families, but it helped that this marriage would unify the two clans.Â
you were sure he had ladies lined up to marry him, and you werenât somebody he was actively trying to pursue. you didnât even know if he was in love with somebody else if he shared a connection with a girl who was surely not you and cursed you for taking that away from him.Â
not that it mattered now.Â
all you wanted was to reconcile, to catch up on all the things happening in your lives. you wanted to hear all the stories he must have racked up over the years, not for this to happen. all the things he wanted for himself were ripped away because of one night from one simple act of kindness, and so you couldnât find it in yourself to hate him for the way he acted.
you rarely come down for dinner whenever heâs there, but when you do, you feel those eyes turn icy, tracking your every movement till you sit down opposite of him. he doesnât say much, just mutters a quiet âgood eveningâ and youâre sure heâs only doing it so the maids donât start to gossip.Â
whenever your hand brushes his you feel him snap back, flexing his hand as though your touch burned him. he rarely came by to ask you about how you felt, and so you stopped trying to act kindly towards him if he didnât want anything to do with it.
any semblance of romance you had dreamed of as a young girl quickly dissipated when you realized your husband wanted nothing to do with you, so you didnât try to pursue any sort of love, deciding itâd be easier if he just did his part and you did yours so the two clans wouldnât worry.Â
he was always gone, which might be the best for the two of you. when heâs not training new men then heâs gone in a hunt. if heâs not in a hunt then heâs somewhere in his endless home, hiding away.Â
you donât know if he does this for him, for your sake, or for everybody else.Â
âdid you see your husband this morning?â one of your maids said excitedly as she tugged the undergarments over your raised arm, a gleeful smile on her face as she rambled about something gojo had done. you couldnât help but return a smile of your own, although it didnât quite meet your eyes.Â
âyes, briefly. heâs busy with having to worry about the feast,â which wasnât a total lie. youâd seen him hurriedly brush past you, quickly glancing at you as if he had forgotten you were his wife. you felt your chest tighten up with the way he glanced at your hand, and then quickly left.Â
it was only a few nights away and you knew that it was the only buzz of news anybody seemed to talk about. unfortunately, for you, it meant having to socialize with other clans. you were fine with that aspect, youâd been doing it since you were young, but this time they had a right to be nosey. you knew there would be endless questions asked about the honeymoon stage of your marriage, to which you had no answer.Â
sure, youâd been making up answers to hypothetical questions, but you didnât know what gojo would be answering with, so you were only praying some of your responses would line up.Â
for a night the two of you would have to pretend to be husband and wife, and while the people around you knew you were anything, you knew you had to commit to the role for the sake of you and your familyâs dignity.Â
but all this worrying isnât good for your head, you could already feel the pang as you squeezed your eyes to try and get rid of it. you tried to move on from your worries, going to comment on her necklace, it seemed new, but a knock interrupted you. the two of your heads popped up, looking at where the sound came from.Â
âcome in!â you called out, buttoning up the last bits of your top as you thanked myra. she nodded, bowing as she went to open the door. you could hear her faint footsteps, not bothering to look up as she greeted the person behind. you guessed it was franchesca coming with the fabric samples.Â
âsir,â you heard myra say, and your head swirled around, only to see the topic of your conversation make his way into your room, excusing your maid with a swift motion of his hand. she glanced once at you and then to him, ducking her head as she left, closing the door behind her as she left you two alone.Â
you felt heat prickle at the back of your neck as he looked at you and then to your room. the two of you slept separately, as per your request the first night. you couldnât bear the agonizing silence between the two of you, and he obliged.Â
he was dressed for sparring. he had a loose-fitting tunic on, and pants that would allow him to move freely and without constraint. it was in moments like these that you were reminded of the fact that gojo was the strongest warrior that any of the clans had seen, that the child who once splurged on sugar in his tea was capable (and has done so before) of taking down entire armies.Â
he had matured so much since what you last remembered from him. he no longer acted rashly nor spoke without thinking about what it was he wanted to say. but you still saw him eating sweets with the same fervor he did as a kid, and it never failed to make you smile, hiding it behind your hand so nobody could hear your quiet giggle.Â
it had been a while since it was just the two of you, alone, and all you could think about was that night. your cheeks heated up just thinking about it, and it seemed that gojo could tell your discomfort with the way he cleared his throat, running a hand through his hair as he began to speak.Â
âgood morning,â he started, his eyes darting around, never setting on yours. it was funny if it didnât cause your heart to hurt irrevocably, at how the strongest warrior in all the land could barely look at his wife.Â
if only you knew.
âgood morning.â you offered him a quick, disingenuous smile, moving around until you found your vanity, rummaging through your laid-out earrings as you kept your back to him, not trusting your face to give you away if you were to look at him for too long.Â
you heard him take in an audible breath, but he continued whatever it was he wanted to say.Â
âwith the feast coming up, i want to clear some things with you,â you turned around, looping the earrings in as you nodded for him to continue. it was such a shame he was so stunning, effortlessly attractive as the sun caught off his cheekbones, bouncing off of his chest. he rested his hand on the hilt of his sword, and you wondered if being here was just as painfully awkward for him as it was for you.Â
âwe should act like weâreâŚâ he trailed off and you felt yourself itching to leave, knowing what he meant without having to say it.Â
âin love?â you finished and he slowly nodded, gnawing on his lip as you brushed past him, going to find the mirror so you could adjust your jewelry. you could see him fidgeting in the corner, and for once you could see a hint of nervousness and unease on his features.Â
and a part of you hurt. you would never admit out loud that you harbored a crush on him for as long as you could remember. it hurt knowing that you acting like you were in love was perhaps the lost genuine form of love you could show.Â
âwhat if they ask about the night we met?â you ask after a couple of seconds, looking up from what you were doing. deep down, you knew somebody was bound to ask. even if it was just your mother who had caught the two of you alone in that garden, the news of it somehow spread (she was always one to talk).Â
he scratches his head, shrugging as he eventually settles on an idea.
âjust tell them the truth.âÂ
the truth.Â
tell them how he followed you after you had run outside, sick to your stomach after a man, who was as old as your father, had introduced himself as a possible suitor. how gojo, the most ruthless warrior in all the land, had carefully put his hands on your back as you retched, offering you a towel he had fetched from inside to clean yourself up.Â
tell them how you hadnât seen him in years but the first thing you had done was to hug him tightly. how his hands wrapped around your back as though they were the only things keeping you afloat. perhaps they were.Â
tell them how he murmured words in your hair to bring you back to reality, his thumb running up and down your arms to calm you down. how it seemed like even though it had been years since you two last saw each other, it felt so right, so normal, to be back in his arms.Â
tell them how he had looked at you with such worry, such care, unlike anybody else had looked at you, and you for once felt safe in somebodyâs arms.Â
tell them how your mother found you two in such a compromising position, with your head nestled in his chest as he tried his very best to soothe your cries. it was humiliating and embarrassing to be caught with a man you had only seen back in your teenage years, and especially so in such a vulnerable position.Â
you shake your head, scoffing at the idea, âiâll just come up with something,â was your answer and he nods along, realizing how the story would be too private to share with people you barely knew.
âand we need a reason for why,â he cleared his throat once again, pink dusting on his cheeks as his eyes dropped to your stomach. your eyes met his in the mirror, and one of your eyebrows raised, âwell, youâre not exactly looking like youâre carrying a child at the moment.âÂ
you quickly looked away, the tension in the room increasing as you moved away from the mirror, doing anything you could to keep your hands occupied. you flushed at the comment, your throat drying up as you glanced at your stomach.
the two of you have barely touched, much less been intimate with each other. you were glad he hadnât forced the idea onto you, instead, leaving it to you to bring up the topic. you only talked about it, once, the night of the marriage, and then never again. you knew that it would have to happen eventually, but you couldnât do it right now, not with your state of mind.Â
you scrambled to say something. in all honesty, you had been dreading this question. you hadnât been answering any of the letters your mother sent, and you knew people were expecting to hear the news of a pregnancy.Â
âweâll just say weâve been so busy and preoccupied with the politics of marriage that we couldnât⌠consummate.â you offered and he just shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose as if this was the biggest inconvenience to him.Â
you knew that this marriage was brought upon quickly and before either of you could object to it, but at least you tried to hide it away. if only he hadnât acted so rashly that night, his hands on your shoulders, eyes bewildered as they racked over your figure. if only he had been more careful, or you were smarter in picking some place to be more concealed, you wouldnât be put in this position.Â
but neither of you was thinking ahead, and here you were. but he was certainly making sure that you knew of his contempt for this arrangement far more than you were. it was irritating, it scratched at your skin and ate away at your mind the more you saw each other.
âlook,â he couldnât take his eyes off of you, off of the way you were fiddling with the ring he had delicately placed on your hand so many weeks ago, âi can come up with whatever they ask, so just try your best to do the same.â you say, your voice tinged with anger, the ring on your finger acting as an anchor to the depths of the sea with the way it weighed down your movements, feeling your chest swell as he stayed silent, watching you as you opened the door.Â
âi donât-â
âum, i wonât be joining you for dinner, so donât wait on meâŚi apologize, i need to work on some things for the feastâŚhave a good day.â you swiftly murmured, shutting him in your own room as you left, your heart thumping erratically in your chest as you almost ran down the hallway.Â
you had no idea how you were going to persuade the masses that this marriage was working if you couldnât even persuade yourself.Â
---
the feast of clans came earlier than you expected.Â
you found yourself perched at the end of the table, gojo next to you, your stiff bodies mirroring each other as the people around you joyously helped themselves to the vast variety of food offered.Â
you could barely touch the meal in front of you, your stomach churning uncomfortably with the sheer number of people that surrounded you. back home, you hated these feasts, opting to leave after a couple of bites and finish the rest of what you could pocket in your room, but here, as the clan leader's wife, you had no such luxury.Â
âare you not hungry?â you looked to your side, gojo staring at your plate and then to you, his eyes squinting as he tried to decipher what you were feeling.
âi canât eat,â you murmured, playing with your utensils as you swallowed thickly, âi donât do well in large crowds.âÂ
he nodded once, looking out into the sea of bodies as he inched a little bit closer to you. he was donned in expensive fabrics, although his hair still messily fell all over. the candle that was lit in front of you had different hues of oranges and reds bouncing off of his pale skin, and if you didnât know any better, the blush on his nose and cheeks could have been from the frigid winds from outside.Â
âiâll have myra save you a plate,â he said, giving you a curt smile as he went back to eating.Â
you were momentarily taken aback by his comment, but tried not to show it, going back to fidgeting with your ring as you looked at the sea of people. nobody had thankfully come up to you and bombarded you with questions, but that didnât mean that it wasnât going to eventually happen.Â
âthank you,â you say, glancing at him and then back to your plate.Â
âanything for my wife,â he replies. itâs only for show, you remind yourself, after all, when was the last time he referred to you as such?Â
âgojo,â an old man had walked up to your table, his face lined with wrinkles and a beard, dressed in orange as he offered gojo his hand to shake, âiâm glad to see that you finally settled down.â
gojo blushed deeply, trying to offer him a smile as he motioned to you.Â
âitâs hard to resist marriage when such a woman offers it.â he says, and you feel your eyes widen as you try to laugh off his statement.Â
âyes,â the old man chuckles, eyeing the two of you. he looked familiar, and you were sure you had seen him around these sorts of gatherings before, âit was only a matter of time before it happened. we all knew just how much you liked her back when you were children.â
the two of you sputtered on your coughs, and you felt a little smile grow on your face as gojo did what he could to usher the man away.Â
you could tell with the way he shifted uncomfortably in his seat that gojo wasnât expecting that, and before you could realize what you were doing you found yourself talking.Â
âiâm not a fan of feasts.â you quickly said, the words tumbling out of your mouth before you could stop them. itâs not like you felt you owed him an explanation, but you said it regardless.Â
gojo looked up from his plate, grabbing his cup so he could wash down his bite.Â
âany feast?â he asked, and you could feel the way the air shifted. he was glad you brought up a different topic.Â
âoneâs as big as this,â you twisted your ring back and forth on your finger subconsciously, âi get nervous in big crowds.â
âi remember,â a small smile grew on his face as he thought back to when the two of you were children, âyou would hide under the tables and force me to come with you.âÂ
you chuckled, blood rushing to your ears at the fact that he remembered this about you. it was the bare minimum of what you remembered from him, but you had convinced yourself that he had washed every memory of your last selves from his mind.Â
a rush of distant memories came to your head; nights spent under the tables, laughing as you two tried to keep your voices down as you tried to dodge the feet. you could still hear his whispers of staying quiet, trying to sneak out so he could smuggle in some pastries for you to eat.
âthe adults scared me; they were always loud and insistent on asking personal questions.â
âlike they are now?â he replied back, a tilt in his voice as you nodded feverishly.Â
âyes!â you covered your mouth with your hand as you let out a laugh, a genuine one as you tried to look as put together as you could, âi swear, itâs even worse than when we were young. just the other day a wet nurse came to me and told me the best positions to get into when giving birth!â it really was a mortifying moment, your eyes darting all around as the old lady even took it upon herself to demonstrate the movements, but gojo didnât seem to mind, laughing along with you. his eyes twinkled as they took in your giggly state, years since he had last seen you like this.Â
âi feel like i should apologize,â he starts, having to cover his own infectious smile as he ducks down his head in shame, âi had her sent up to your chambers.â
your mouth dropped open in shock, lightly smacking his arm as he grinned at the look on your face.
âto mortify me so that i would never leave?â your thumb moves your ring back and forth and gojo watches you as you do it.Â
âyou seemed sick at breakfast, but i guess she thought it was a different sort of sickness.â gojo tells you as he cuts off some of his meat, not knowing just how much his words affected you.Â
you had forgotten how simple and easy conversations were with gojo. although this was under a guise to fool people, you felt at ease with him, as if you didnât have to be on guard with your emotions when he was around.Â
âdo you still want to hide under the table now?â he asked a couple of seconds later, chewing on a potato as you shrugged, looking around before your lips grew into an apologetic smile.Â
ââŚyes,â you admitted bashfully and he smiled at your honest response.Â
âif you want to hide, iâll-â
âsatoru!â a booming voice interrupted your endless spiral of thoughts as the two of you glanced upwards at the sound, âitâs been too long!âÂ
a man with hair as dark as night and a smile wider than any ocean had come up to your table. he was the first one to do so all night, but gojo didnât seem bothered by it. he seemed to smile, crescents forming around his eyes as he took his friend's hand.
âtoo long,â he emphasized with a charming grin, motioning to you and then back to the man in front of you as if he suddenly remembered the two of you and never met, âsuguru, this is my wife, y/n. y/n, this is one of my oldest friends.âÂ
you extended your hand outwards and the man, suguru, took it, placing a soft kiss on the back of it as he shot you a playful smile. he wasnât at the wedding, but then yet again, it was a rather quick one. the only people who had attended were your families.Â
âitâs a pleasure to meet you.â he greeted, and you nodded in agreement, sitting back down next to gojo. you felt his long fingers reach for yours, enveloping your hand in his as your heart sputtered at the touch.Â
âlikewise,â you answered and the man grinned politely before he slightly tilted his head, looking at the two of you sitting next to each other.Â
âheâs not bothering you, is he? i know satoru can be fiendish when he wants to be, so call for me and iâll take care of him.â he teased and you could only smile tightly and laugh along, gojoâs fingers slightly tightening around yours as he moved your hand to rest on his thigh.Â
âi can take care of him when heâs fiendish. i just have to take the sugar away, right?â suguru snorted and gojo glared, but it was playful the way he looked at you.Â
his hands were warmer than you would have expected. you could feel the indents of calluses on his fingertips, could feel his thumb moving back and forth on your skin in a calming sort of manner. he didnât look over at you as he did it, playing it off as second nature.Â
âi apologize for not having much time to get to know you, but i have something i need to talk to gojo about. would you mind? it will only take a minute?â he asked, and gojo let go of your hand at the time of his friend's voice. you had to control your urge to roll your eyes, shifting in your seat as you motioned for suguru to talk to your husband, watching as he stood from his seat, leaving with the man as they went somewhere a little more secluded.Â
you watched as gojo leaned down to hear whatever it was that suguru was whispering in his ear, pulling back with a frown on his face. he snapped something that only caused suguru to reel back, cast a quick glance at you, and then shake his head in clear annoyance.Â
you saw gojo look up, his eyes landing on somebody from across the room, and you followed his stare, only to land on a girl.Â
she wore a dark yellow tunic and skirt, colors from a neighboring clan. you hadnât seen her before, but that didnât mean she wasnât known. just one look at the men surrounding her and you could pick up on their lovesick expressions.Â
she motioned for gojo to come to her with a bend of her finger, slyly brushing her hair out of her face to make it look as though it was nothing, exiting from the dining area and vanishing into one of the halls.Â
you looked down in case either of the men glanced over to see if you were staring. your eyes pierced through the meat on your plate, bile rising up your throat.Â
you gave yourself some time, counting up to a minute before you looked back to where suguru and gojo were, finding suguru standing alone. you looked at where the girl was and saw a flash of white hair before it disappeared, your heart sinking as you glanced back at suguru, only to find him looking at you.Â
you looked back at your plate, picking up a knife and fork as you stabbed the meat. you couldnât keep anything down but itâs best to pretend.
---
gojo didnât return until half an hour later, and you refused to talk to him.Â
âdid anybody bombast you with questions?â he teased, his smile not quite reaching his eyes. he didnât seem to pick up on your darkened mood as your fingers dug into your dress.Â
âi had a woman ask me if you had disappeared with your mistress, but that was it.â you remarked, silence filling the void between the two of you and you realized that all you had thought of him was crumbling down.Â
you didnât care for your image anymore, giving curt answers to any questions somebody had asked. you could feel his stare on the side of your face but you didnât humor him in looking over, focusing on your plate instead.Â
so what if he was seeing somebody else? you would have been naive to think that he wouldnât wander. the two of you barely touched each other.Â
once all the guests had left over the course of the following days, you did everything you could to steer away from gojo.Â
you no longer came down for breakfast or dinner, choosing to eat in your own quarters. if he wanted to have his own secrets, he could do whatever he pleased.Â
though you rarely saw suguru after the feast, he did try to talk to you the morning after it took place. he cornered you after you had left from breakfast, his once playful demeanor turned serious as you tried your best to end the conversation.Â
âwhat you saw last night-â
âis none of my business,â you finished, raising your hand as you cut him off, âif gojo has his own private matters to deal with, iâm indifferent to them all.âÂ
âyou know thatâs not what it was.â his hand hovered over your arm, careful not to touch you but not wanting you to leave either.Â
âi ruined his life, didnât i?â you tilted your head a bit in questioning. after all, thatâs all you could hear from the women who gossiped as they folded the laundry, or behind the hands of the girls who watched you and gojo interact and the mothers who wanted their daughters to be set up with him only sneered at you from across the tables.Â
âyouâŚwhereâd you get that from?â his brows scrunched together in confusion as you scoffed, hoping he couldnât see the tears welling in the corner of your eyes at the sting of your own words.Â
âi can see it on his face. if gojo wants to have his own affairs, he can have them. itâs not like weâre in love. hopefully, i find my own way out so that the two of us look happier and this marriage looks somewhat presentable to the public.âÂ
you didnât want to see the look on his face, but youâre sure he reported this all back to gojo because he didnât look at you once after it.Â
you heard from a maid a week later that he was gone for another meeting with a clan, a southern one from what you picked up, and that you should probably go and wish him some luck.Â
leading up to the night of his departure you anxiously paced around your room, your feet padding on the floor as your nightgown swished behind you.Â
you hadnât talked to gojo at all that day, and purposefully so.Â
it was petty, you know it was, to not want to see him, but a part of you still aches when you look back on that night. at how he didnât explain where he was even after you asked, at how it was suguru he had sent to fix his dirty work for him.Â
ây/n?â a muffled voice came from outside your door.Â
your head shot up at the familiar sound, quietly dragging yourself out from your bed as you grabbed the candle, hovering on the other side as you waited for him to say something else.Â
âare you awake?â you heard a soft thud from his side, almost as if his head or arm had hit the door.Â
you didnât answer, still, waiting.Â
âiâm leaving tomorrow and i wanted to see you before i left.â your heart skipped at his words, careful not to make a sound as you near the door.Â
âif youâre sleeping i wonât bother you anymore but if youâre not,â you could hear the old stutter he had coming back, his words meshing together as he tried to regain control, âand youâre choosing to stay quiet, iâŚâ he sighed, his forehead thumping down as he rested it on the door, âi wanted to apologize for the feast. i shouldnât have left you alone, and if youâd open the door, i would explain whyâŚâ he could see the flicker of the candle from underneath the crack, and saw the way it blew away, darkness following suit.Â
you walked back to your bed, turning your back to the door as you set the candle down on your table.Â
âgoodnight,â his voice was quieter than before, and you felt guilty, but pushed the bitter feeling down.
a couple of seconds later you heard him let out a sigh of defeat, his footsteps leading away from your bedroom as you curled into yourself, hoping you would let your heart stop taking control of what your head should be doing.Â
---
gojo didnât return for a while, and you grew more impatient by the day.Â
it normally took him and his men a week at maximum, and once two had passed, you felt yourself growing uneasy.Â
you tried to act as passive as you could, but even myra could pick up on your growing apprehension. you have never voiced your worries over your husband before, but she knew this wasnât like any other time.Â
when you went to bed, the only thing you could dream about was that night, your brain re-running the images as you tossed and turned.Â
âare you alright?â he asked, his hands on your elbows as you could barely speak, your blurry vision impairing your sight. you could only see a mop of white in the darkness, your stomach betraying you as you tried to keep the sick down.Â
âi donât feel too good,â you mumbled, trying to put some distance between the two of you as you pushed him away, only to feel him coming closer as he placed a hand on your forehead and then to your cheeks.Â
âyouâre burning up,â he muttered under his breath, guiding you gently so that you wouldnât trip over your feet.Â
âiâm sorry, you can go back inside, i donât want to keep you out here.â you were slurring your words as you tried not to throw up on him. you wiped at your eyes so that you could see him better, only to reel back in utter shock to see the face of your childhood friend frowning down at you.Â
your mouth formed in the shape of his name, going to say something else, before you hunched over, feeling his strong hands pat your back and keep the hair out of your face as you felt your world tilt on its axis.Â
you ate your dinner at the table, eyeing his empty seat as you tried to shove his last night out of your mind. you shouldnât feel this way, especially about a man who feels nothing towards you, but your little heart was churning in its confines the more you let yourself think about it.
sitting in the same spot where the feast took place only brought back the venomous taste in your mouth, and so you pretended that you were back home, eating somewhere without the worry of your life weighing you down like a thousand weights on your shoulders.Â
myra tried her best to distract you, but she could see the distant look in your eyes, how your voice never seemed too genuine. she began to worry for you, but it seemed like your mind was fixed on one thing.Â
until you found yourself pacing around your room, just like you were the night you last heard of him, playing with the ring on your finger as the moon carded through your window.Â
âmy lady,â you heard myra through the door, her voice shaky and a bit more on edge than usual, âthereâs-â but before she could finish it slammed open, revealing the man youâd been biting your nails over, standing in the flesh.
his eyes were a dark blue, squinted as they looked right through you. his chest heaved as he looked like he was trying to catch his breath. you could see the streaks of blood that lined his usually clean clothes, the red that stained his cheeks and jaw.Â
he looked feral, and it was throwing you off balance.Â
âout.â he snapped at myra, and before you could scold him for his tone she fled, the door shutting roughly behind her.Â
the two of you could only stare at each other. you didnât know what to think after weeks of uselessly worrying over him, not knowing about his well-being, to see him here, in front of you, but looking different than he ever had.Â
âare you alright?âÂ
you could barely get it out, the works sticking on your tongue as you took a tentative step forward, not knowing what to do with his state of being.Â
he eyed the blood on his shirt, wiping at his cheeks as if he had forgotten it was there. he didnât look too dirty, less dirty than one would expect from a five week endeavor through the woods, but he didnât look too good either.Â
âyou were awake.â is all he says, his chest still moving up and down as though he couldnât breathe properly.Â
âthat night i came by, you were awake. i saw your candle, i heard your footsteps.â he says this as though itâs fighting its way out of his mouth as if itâs all he could think about to tell you.Â
âi,â you pretend that you donât care, shrugging, âi wasnât up to talk.âÂ
âyou were with suguru.â he snaps, his tone shocking you, and he steps back as if he had shocked himself. he jammed his palms into his eyes, tilting his head upwards before he looked back at you.Â
âfor five weeks you were all i could think about. i wanted to come back, i wanted to tell you what i felt but we kept running into issues with other tribes and clans.âÂ
âwhat could you possibly think about that occupied your mind for five weeks?â you so desperately wanted your voice to come out strong but it sounded weak, as though you were hanging off of his every syllable.Â
âyou had told suguru that you were going to find yourâŚown way out,â he took a step forward, and here you could see the scratches on his chest, the cuts on his arms, âi was praying to every god there was that you hadnât found somebody in these past weeks, that you hadnâtâŚâ
you could barely believe his words, not knowing if you should feel offended, shocked, worried, or a mix of all those three.Â
âwhat business would it be to you if i did?â you hate that this was the response you settled on. hurt flashed across his face but he tried to regain his composure.Â
âyou are my wife-â
âand you are my husband!â you snapped and watched as he was momentarily taken aback by your outburst, but you continued your nose flaring, âyou cannot argue with me on this when you left with some girl in the middle of our feast!â you felt all your emotions finally pouring out and you had no control over them, âeverybody was talking about it, everybody was looking at me in pity!â your voice cracked, tears poking at your eyes as you pointed an accusatory finger at him.Â
gojo looked down, running a hand through his hair as he pointed a finger back.Â
âif you had let me explain myself, you would have known that she was trying to do what you thought she was. i left as quickly as i could but you would barely look at me!â you wanted to rip your hair out, cursing yourself for ever feeling any sort of worry for this man.Â
âi know that this marriage was the last thing you wanted but at least you could play the part of a husband! you didnât send a single note, anything to tell us that you were okay, that you were alive!â you heaved, fidgeting with your ring as you wiped at your cheeks, âand you come back here accusing me of adultery? all everybody could talk about was the fact that you were warming somebody elseâs bed! they said a meeting never takes this long unless somethingâŚsomebody else comes up.â your voice wobbles at the end, and you find yourself furiously rubbing your tears away, hiding your sniffing as though that would do anything. Â
he paused upon seeing you cry, his face falling as he tried to step forward but you angled yourself away from him, hoping heâd get the hint.Â
he wanted to hold you, to tell you that all the rumors you were hearing were false and that the only room he had left in his heart was for you. but he couldnât blame you for feeling or thinking this way. hell, he was so sure that heâd open the door to find another man comforting you that he didnât even stop to consider what must have been going through your head all these weeks.Â
âone of the clans tried to attack us, and we werenât ready for it. that is why we took so long.âÂ
you sniffle again, not caring for his explanation although it did soothe a part of your past self.Â
âyou could have at least sent a letter telling me what happened,â you fidget with your ring, your thumb running over the diamond, âeverybody asked me questions that i should have had answers to, but i had no idea where you were or what you were doingâŚâ he nods, his lips pressed into a thin line as he agreed with you.Â
âyou're right,â his voice was thick with emotion, the words slurring in his mouth as he found himself anchored in place, not knowing what to do. but you were rambling, your thoughts going on and on and you couldnât stop yourself.Â
ââŚbut i know you donât like letters, so the least you could have done was send a parchment saying iâm alive or something like that.â you rub at your nose again, feeling like all the weeks of worry weâre coming to a standpoint.Â
he looked confused now, if anything, and scratched at his jaw.Â
âwhat do you mean?âÂ
you scoff at the audacity, rolling your eyes as you feel anger prickle at your skin.Â
âyou never once responded to any of my letters. in my eyes, that must mean you have some sort-â
âletters? what letters?âÂ
you glance at him, taking in his shaking form.Â
âcome on gojo,â you feel embarrassed as he urges you to speak, having to spell it out for him, his eyes pleading with you to continue, âthe ones from when you left for training.â
his mouth opens and then closes, looks at the ground and then back up to you as he shakes his head. you could hear your fireplace crackling in the background. the only sounds circling the room were the pops of ember and your breathing.Â
âiâŚâ he feels like thereâs cotton in his mouth, hoping that youâre lying, âi never got any letters.âÂ
the fire crackled once again and you could almost hear a pin drop as you shook your head vehemently at his statement.Â
ân-no, no you did. i wrote to you every week, i sent one every week for two years and you never responded and my mother said that you must have forgotten about meâŚâ and you trail off, the tears in your eyes stoning as he furiously wipes at his own eyes, and for the first time since you had seen him fall down when he was a kid, you saw his own tears staining his cheeks.Â
ânobody gave me your letters. i thought that you,â he takes a deep breath, tongue poking inside his cheek as he tried to control himself, âi thought that you didnât care for me anymore.âÂ
you hug your midsection, your emotions running wild at his words.Â
âi was under the impression that you hated me.â you admit, and he looks as though you stabbed him through the heart. if only others could see the powerful warrior now, stripped bare to his conscience and all he could think about was you.Â
âwhyâŚwhy would you think such a thing?â you two inch closer without knowing it, longing to touch each other, wanting to know that the other was really there and that this wasnât a figment of your imaginations.Â
âgojo, you could barely looked at me that night at the gala and now it seems as though you, well, look at you - youâre flushed!â youâre grasping at straws, motioning towards his face, twinged with pink as you rub at your nose, âyou seem angry whenever i am near-âÂ
âthe only person i am angry at is myself.â gojo whispers, but his voice echoed around the expanse of your skull.Â
âyes, iâm aware,â you feel cold despite the fire in the corner, your tone carrying an air of know as you scorn, âi know the last thing you expected by comforting me was a marriage but-âÂ
âyou think i am angry because i married you?â he was moving closer, his hands shaking, his eyes wet. you could see the ring on his finger glow in the dim light of the fireplace, how it shined brighter than any of the night skies, âthe only good thing that has happened to me these last few months was being able to introduce myself as your husband. i know that i stripped you bare of any love you may have had for any other man, but call me selfish for feeling glad that i did.âÂ
you could barely focus on what was happening, his words sinking deep into your skin, going to your bones.Â
âi told myself that you had forgotten about me those years i left. when i saw you that night i was so sure you had come with the intention of finding a suitor that i didnât want to distract you, but then i saw that man come up to youâŚâ and he couldnât finish, choking on his words as he stuttered, and you saw a glimpse of the boy you had fallen in love with so long ago.Â
âand i followed you out. if i knew that simply being alone with you would have gotten me married to you then i would have cornered you in a closet the moment i saw you enter the dining hall.âÂ
a tear rolls down your chin, splattering on the ground beneath you as you struggle to make sense of what he was saying. it felt as though the months of being married to him were weeks spent pacing around your own rooms, thinking the same worried thoughts, and not having the strength to confront each other about it.Â
âyouâŚyou donât hate me?â your voice is timid, almost not believing yourself as the statement tumbled out. gojo had the audacity to laugh a bit, shaking his head as strands of his hair fell into his face.Â
âmy every waking moment is spent thinking of you. when i was in training, you were all i could dream about, hoping that when iâd come home i could finally have you to myself.Â
âyou have control over my emotions, my mind, my soul, and i cursed myself for taking away your options for a husband, but the only thing iâve wanted to do these past few weeks was to hold you in my arms. to tell you just how deeply i yearn for your love back.âÂ
he wiped at his cheeks, glistening in the faint light. he looked angelic, despite the grime and blood that decorated his clothing. you didnât want to think about the men he had killed just to come back, to come back to you, and the thought of ever losing him hurt you more than when you spent nights wondering why he never responded to any of your letters.Â
you couldnât stop your feet from leading you toward him, and you could only watch as he met you in the middle, catching you with all his strength, holding you as if you weighed nothing, and it only took a few seconds before your lips collided.Â
it was rushed, and messy as you felt his hands holding you as if you carried the weight of the universe. your teeth clashed, your tears staining each other's skin as your hands gripped at his hair, using it for leverage as he slipped his tongue into your mouth, enjoying the whimper that escaped your lips when he nipped at yours.Â
it was what years of longing and desperation felt like. how it felt like you two just molded into each other as if your bodies were cut out with the other in mind. you felt like your heart was about to stop beating, and you knew gojo felt the same with the way heâd whine against your lips, wanting you more than you could have ever imagined.Â
âweâve been stupid people, havenât we?â you whispered as you pulled away, trying to catch your breath as he smiled against you. if only you knew just how much heâd been wanting to kiss you like this, to see your swollen lips as you looked at him from beneath your eyelashes. you were his venus, his only saving grace, and he could only vex himself for ever making you feel anything but love.Â
âvery, â he pressed a kiss to the corner of your eyes, âvery,â to your nose, âstupid,â his lips were on your cheeks, feeling like he was breathing in new air at the sound of your laughter, âpeople.â he pressed his lips to yours again, cherishing in the way you whined at the harshness.Â
he had spent months convincing himself that you no longer cared for him. weeks of perilous training to only come back to a bed and dream of a girl who didnât share his emotions when in reality you did. he wants to track down the letters you had sent him, to read every word carefully, as if each sentence carried its own riddle inside of it. he wanted to apologize for never having the honor of experiencing your skilled penmanship, for leading you to believe that he had simply forgotten about you.Â
âgojo,â your fingers curl in his tunic, your heat transferring, trying to be rational in such an irrational state of being, âyouâre bleeding, i should call for the doctor.â he didnât stop kissing your face, moving to your jaw as he smiled hearing you shudder.Â
âitâs not my blood,â he murmured and you wanted to smack him for how cocky he sounded, âand donât call me gojo.â he nipped at your lips again.Â
âhusband?â you found yourself smiling at the title, but he shook his head. you saw how he was trying to hide his own grin.Â
âsire?â you tested it out teasingly, hating how it sounded. he seemed to agree with the way he grimaced at the name.Â
âmy lord?â he wanted to bottle up your laughter forever, knowing he could get drunk off of the sound. his nose nudged up at your jaw, pressing wet kisses wherever he could.Â
âhmm, what about my liege?â you're curling a strand of his hair around your fingers letting him settle you down on your vanity as you spread your legs so he could slot between them.Â
âmy men call me that.â he says, cringing as it falls off your mouth. you pretend to think, not knowing how you were able to live without this banter for as long as you did.Â
âsatoru?â you felt breathless saying it after so long. but he still didnât seem to find it satisfactory enough, a pout on his lips as he wanted you to find a better one.Â
âclose, but only when youâre angry with me.â you tuck that information in the back of your mind for if you ever need to scold him, your cheeks flushed as he interlocks his fingers through yours.Â
ââtoruâŚ?â his lips broke into a giddy smile, and you had to control yourself as he swooped back in for a kiss. his eyes were so much softer when he laughed, the kind ones you fell in love with so many nights ago.Â
âthere it is,â his voice was husky, raw as your fingers gripped at the baby hairs at his nape. he was taking your air away with him and you couldnât find it in yourself to fight back for it.Â
âi forgot how cheeky you can be,â you bite your lip to keep the moans inside, feeling feverish as his tongue ran over his love marks, not knowing what to do yourself as you scrambled to grab onto something to keep you afloat.
âyou have no idea how much self-control itâs taken not to ravage you,â his breath is hot on your skin, and heâs tugging at your shirt, fingers slightly brushing upon your breasts, âevery night youâd come down for dinner i wanted something different to eat.â
âstoppp,â you mewled, not used to this. he chuckles as his slender fingers work to untie the knot keeping you together, tugging at the string until it falls, revealing your naked chest, heaving as the fabric pooled at your hips.Â
you wanted to cover yourself up under his heavy gaze, to take the fabric and hide, but you felt pierced by his stare. his eyes darted to yours as if checking to see if you were okay. when you gave him a timid nod, it seemed as though it prompted him to finally move.Â
his fingers were gentle as they ran across your waist, large as they covered the soft of your stomach, eager as they went upwards. he looked like he was crazed and starved, as if you were his last meal and he couldnât wait for the sweetness death would give.Â
your breath stuttered as his fingers found your mounds, rubbing a soothing thumb over your nipples as his pupils grew. he was eager as he flicked them over and over, a cheshire grin growing as they hardened under his touch.Â
âyouâre perfect,â he murmured, dropping down so he could suckle at your tits, his spit shining in the light of the fire, and you tilted your head back, soft moans escaping as his tongue drew circles around your buds.Â
âf-fuck, âtoru, thatâs,â you couldnât even finish your sentence, his second hand coming to cup your other tit, not wanting to leave her unattended as he sucked and bruised, wanting to forever leave his mark on your untainted skin.Â
âgood?â heâs so cocky, and you want to smack the smug smirk off his devilishly handsome face.Â
his knee is purposefully rubbing against your clothed clit, and you feel yourself subconsciously rubbing yourself against it. you hope that he canât feel how drenched you are from him just sucking your tits, but he pinches you, pressing his tongue flat against your skin as he looks up through his lashes.
âhorny from just me touching you?â heâs teasing you, itâs so painful the way you want, need him like oxygen. you tug on his hair roughly, bringing his spit-soaked lips back to yours as you bite down on his lower one, enjoying the groan you draw out from him.Â
âdonât be mean âtoru,â you taunt, and you feel him melt in your fingers, nodding to your request as he lowers himself down.Â
he presses wet kisses down your torso, stopping just above your hips, his fingers hooking along the rim of your underwear, being careful and slow in his movements as he waits for any objections, making sure youâre okay with this.Â
but you were in your own world, hitching your leg over his shoulders, drawing him in closer to you, sweat dotting your forehead as he licks a stripe over the cotton on your pussy, smiling to himself at the taste of you.Â
you were so sweet, sweeter than any desert heâd indulge himself on. he was sure that once he had a taste of you heâd be able to repent, to go before any god, and to tell them that you were his religion.
he had spent countless nights, tossing and turning in his bed, the only thing putting him to sleep being the idea of coming home to you. running after you that night was him running home to you, regardless of where you were. he was glad he got your hand in marriage, but if he had to, heâd wait another ten years just to hold you in his arms again.
he peels your underwear off, a string of your arousal connecting to it, and he tucks it in his pants, for safekeeping.Â
âyouâre going to be the death of me.â he says against your heat, his nose rubbing against your clit as your eyes wring shut in pleasure. his hands grip your thighs, making sure you stay in place as he kitten licks around where you need him the most.Â
âdonât letâŚdonât let any of your enemies hear,â your voice comes out in bits, your hand resting on the back of his head as your leg tightens around him, âdonât want them to come after me or something.âÂ
he snorts, pinching your thighs as if anybody could come within a ten feet radius of you without losing an eye.Â
his lips come closer to where you desperately want him, a finger prodding at your tight entrance, his tongue finding your clit as he begins to suck.Â
itâs all too much, the sensations far better than your own fingers have ever proved to be.Â
his fingers are skilled, long enough that they reach deep within you. he sinks one fully in, your walls clamping around him as he continues sucking your clit, his teeth grazing it every so often, making your head thump against the wall.Â
âtalk to me, how do you feel?â his mouth discontented from your bud and you whine at the loss. he sinks in another finger to make up for it, but he doesnât move them, waiting for your response.Â
ââs good,â one of your hands is fisting your discarded robe, trying to hold onto your senses as you desperately nod, âdonât stop âtoru, please,â and he obliges, loving the sounds of your begging, but loving the sound of your pleasures more.Â
his fingers stretch you open and you welcome the sting, your nails digging into him as you long for more.Â
he switches his mouth with his hand every now and then, his tongue taking the place of his fingers as it licks at you, groaning at your taste as he eats you out with his entire being, his chin shining with your essence and his spit as his thumb rubs furiously at your clit.Â
âmmhhh, just like that, fuck!â youâve never heard your voice at this pitch, never knew it was possible to feel this way. his other hand reaches up to flick at your nipple, the extra sensation making white dot around your vision.Â
you feel yourself getting closer to the sweet release, feel your wall clamp around him even tighter as that knot in your stomach builds to a crescendo.Â
âcome on, let go fâme, know you want to, know you can.â he spurs you on, his fingers unrelenting as they piston in and out of you, reaching that gummy spot that makes you go dumb.
âfuck, âtoru, mâgonna, mâgonna come!â you cry out and youâre sure anybody walking past you could hear the debauchery. your thighs were starting to shake and you felt it all go black as you reached your high, your orgasm washing over you unlike anything youâve ever felt.Â
you creamed around his fingers, gushing around him as you wailed out, tears dotting your eyes from the overwhelming pleasure you were feeling. you squeezed around him, wanting to never lose what this felt like, trying to catch your breath as his mouth never stopped sucking at your nub before he was sure your climax was over.Â
when he finally pulled away the only thing that could be heard was the two of you, trying to come back down as stupid smiles made their way onto each of your faces.Â
he was boyishly charming as he stood in front of you, licking yourself off of his fingers as he grinned at the taste. you couldnât be bothered to be embarrassed after having him just between your legs, but you still felt a heat blossom in your chest.Â
âsoâŚâ you awkwardly start, sweat dripping down your face from just how hot the room had suddenly gotten as you avert your gaze, âwhat now?âÂ
he shrugged nonchalantly, despite the fact that his heart was about to beat itâs way out of his chest. you let him pick you off of the vanity and tucked you safely away into his chest as he led you to your bed, gently setting you down in your mountain of pillows and blankets as you felt sleep etch away at you.Â
âiâm going to clean you up,â he pressed a kiss to your hair, smiling at the way you giddy smiled at whatever he did, a dopey grin on your face as your hand searched for his, interlocking you fingers with his as if you didnât want to watch him go, âif you let me.âÂ
you yawn, your head tilting as he sat down at the edge of your bed, still not letting go of your hand as your fingers run through the soft pelts beneath you.Â
âand what about you?â your chin points the obvious hard-on growing in his pants. he looks down as if suddenly realizing, and he plays it off by looking back up to you with a wink. you felt your mouth going dry at the size of it, not knowing if you could even be able to take something as big as that.Â
âfor another day,â he promises, and youâre sure heâs not going to forget it. not like you want him to.
âand then?âÂ
your question lingers in the air. you donât want to wake up to him acting like this never happened, as if your feelings were only a figment of your wildest dreams. but his eyes hold onto yours, never letting go as he brushes some strays away from your face.Â
âand then i get a bigger bed for my room because thereâs no way iâm letting you sleep here alone after this.â his thumb runs along the palm of your hand, his fingers tracing patterns into the soft of your legs.Â
âand then?âÂ
âand then you tell me all the things i missed out on when i was gone. iâll tell you about the time suguru shaved my head, and youâll tell me about anything on your mind.âÂ
âwhat if i run out of things to say?â sleep is overtaking your voice, and youâre already nodding off, not even truly knowing what you were asking.Â
âthen iâll make up stories so that youâre not bored.â he finds a clean towel, soaking it in water from a nearby pitcher as he drags it slowly across your body, as if your fragile and made of porcelain.Â
âhow do i know youâre not a dream? you might just be,â you yawn, rubbing at your eyes as your finger traces his ring, âyou might just be my own mind tricking me.â your eyes are shutting, but the teasing smile on your face never leaves.Â
âbecause a dream wouldnât hide under a table with you if you asked.â he whispers, kissing your lips with a soft peck as he pulls the blanket over you, letting you sleep into a slumber as he crawls in next to you, holding you to his chest just as he did that night, just as he will every night from now on, and just as he longed for those nights he wished you next to him.

Hey, sorry if youâve been asked this before, but I have ADHD and Iâve been following your comic for years and just now have started to write my own comic (partially because you really inspired me). But Iâm really struggling with staying on the project even when itâs boring and getting myself to work on it in the first place. Do you have any tips on how to keep your brain invested or just to make yourself do the work at all?
I have excellent news, I literally just figured out something really important about this.
So when you're an ADHD kiddo or otherwise have difficulty staying on task in a structured environment where Task is the Priority, the main way people try to MAKE you stay on task is by removing your access to anything that is not The Task. No phone, no TV, no doodling, no going outside, etc. In practice, this just makes us miserable because it takes the boredom that's always simmering around a 2 or 3 and cranks it all the way up to 11. In the same way that you would have difficulty staying on task if you were in physical pain, this crushing existential monotony makes it very difficult to work. The work might get done simply because you have no other options, but it will not be done quickly or well, and it will take a while to recover from how much it hurt.
What I realized earlier this week is I caught myself doing this to myself. I had 42 pages of background colors to do, and I thought to myself "this sounds really tedious, but I suppose I have nothing better I can do." And I realized what I'd just thought, and got very alarmed.
Because back when I was an ADHD kiddo imprisoned by school scheduling and a million little factors that keep children immobile and restrained, I couldn't stop thinking about how big and exciting the world was, and how much I wanted to be anywhere but here. When I was feeling really crushed in I'd pick a random spot on the maps on my wall and just imagine being there instead of my bedroom. This was the impetus behind almost all of my creative energy. I've said it before - anything is a prison if you can't leave, and being in a prison makes it easy to imagine how amazing things could be outside of it. Aurora's initial worldbuilding was forged in the crucible of fifth grade misery. My enthusiasm for art and my creative drive are inextricable from my sense of wonder and yearning for excitement in the real world. Not escapism, but appreciation. Wonders unimaginable are out there, and I gain just as much joy seeking them out as I do conjuring them up in my head and sharing them with all of you.
So now that I'm a grown-up with actual freedom in every way I've been able to get, the idea that I was staying on task by making myself believe the world was small and not worth seeing was extremely alarming. It could keep me on task for an afternoon, but at the cost of slowly extinguishing the thing that made me want to make art in the first place - the hunger to experience and draw inspiration from all the myriad complexities in the world.
So what I've been doing is I've been purposefully and intentionally taking excursions whenever I catch myself thinking "I could take a break but it wouldn't be worth it, it's the same outdoors as always, I'll be uncomfy and unproductive and tired." Because that is never true. Every time I've put down the stylus and gone out, I've been renewed in one way or another, and when I come back to comfort fully recharged I get a lot of shit done. Because it is easier to work on anything if you remember why you wanted to make it in the first place, and it is self-defeating misery to just lock yourself in with it and tell yourself you're a bad person if you can't get it done.
I honestly don't know how widely applicable this is. I have worse wanderlust than anyone I know, so for me this has always been modeled as imprisonment vs freedom. I've also been extremely lucky to find myself in a profession that lets me set my own pace on literally everything I do. But I genuinely believe that when it comes to making art with ADHD, you need to give yourself freedom to move laterally, not just in the direction of obvious forward progress. We don't think linearly in any other part of our lives - art is no different.

[You]: do you think he died on the way [Liv]: hes still not there??? [You]: what do you think????? [Liv]: let me ask Amelia [You]: dont bother [You]: he can show up whenever he wants im leaving in 5 [Liv]: you promised youâd sit thru this!! [You]: sit thru what? an empty seat across from me???
Liv doesnât respond immediately, and you immediately know sheâs buggered off to ask her cousin why your date still wasnât here.Â
Itâs not like you couldnât have asked him yourself, the sparse textbox sitting just under Livâs contact. You open it to inspect the contents.Â
[livâs cousinâs something]: Amelia gave me your number [livâs cousinâs something]: friday night at the sage&salt at 7Â [livâs cousinâs something]: is that okay [You]: uh hey [You]: yeah thatâs fine
Today 7:20 PM
[You]: im here?
The first thread of texts were enough to make you feel like this was some cold business meeting instead of a date, knowing wherever this would lead would be either the city dump or off a cliff. Liv was hearing none of it, taking the guilt tripping route, saying sheâd already committed and her cousin was irritating enough even without a scuffle.
So when Friday evening came around youâd pulled on the first dress your fingers could find, took all of ten minutes fighting with your makeup to make it look like you did something and left the house with zero expectations.Â
Despite that, as you see a man walk into the establishment dressed like heâd gotten into a fight with a squid and a paper shredder, you feel the stone in your chest tank into the abyss. Zero expectations, and heâs somehow managed to strike out anyway.Â
The jacket looks like heâs put it on as a weak cover for the grime stains on his shirt and trousers, a couple jet black splatters across the outfit to really pull the whole thing together. Itâs not like he looked homeless or anything, his face surprisingly handsome with his hair pushed away from his forehead. Although he remains looking like heâd been playing football in some neighbourhood parking lot before remembering he had an adult appointment too.Â
Youâd never seen the man in your life, but your gut told you this was the shit texter whoâd kept you waiting for nearly an hour. He seems to notice too, eyes locking from across the restaurant as the waitress leads him to your table.Â
âWonwoo,â you greet with a difficult smile, half sure it came out as a grimace. âRight?â
âYeah,â he huffs as he practically slams back down on the chair, and you wonder for a moment how the legs didnât give out. He says your name and you nod. âSorry Iâm late, I got a call in the parking lot.â
Heâs been in the parking lot this entire time?!
Itâs like youâve been doused in gasoline and lit on fire, yet somehow needing to give him a shaky reply anyway.Â
âOâoh, I see.â
The waitress saves you from spitting in his face when she asks if you were ready to order.Â
Dinner was off the table, as you discussed with Liv who forwarded it to her cousin to herâwhoever it was that set up this god awful dateâand agreed on dessert and perhaps a drink.Â
âIâll have the chocolate cake,â you request in an attempt to make this somewhat better. You consider for a moment before asking for a drink as well, âAnd a dry gin martini, please.â
âUm,â he staggers as he barely skims the menu, ultimately flipping it closed. âIâll have the same, I guess.â
Deep voice. You mightâve liked that if you werenât already so peeved.Â
The waitress disappears with the menus, leaving you two alone for the first time.Â
âSo,â you start with an exhale. âHow do you know Amelia?â
âHer husband.â
âI see.â
Silence.Â
âHow do you know her husband?â
He sighs like this is all inconveniencing him, and it irks you to an irrespective degree. Like you wanted to be here either.Â
âHe brings his car to the workshop alot, became friends somewhere along the line.â
âWorkshop?â
He looks a little startled, cocking his head to the side. âIâm a mechanic? Did Oliviaâwas itânot tell you?â
âNo, she didnât.â
Itâs silent yet again as the man across from you refuses to elaborate. You curse as you ask him a follow up question. If there was anything you hated more than shouldering a dead conversation, it was sitting through an awkward silence.Â
One hour. Youâd sit through this for one more hour and then youâd leave.Â
âWhat kind of cars do you work on?â
âExpensive ones,â he answers. You mightâve kicked yourself if heâd ended it at that, but he continues with a purse of his lips. âOnes that rich people abuse to an inch of the machineâs life and wonder why the dealership gives up on it. Vintage pieces too.â
âHave I heard of it?â
âThe cars?â
âNo, I mean,â you let out a breath. âYour workshop.â
âJeon Motors, just a couple streets down actually.â
You did know what he was talking about, not expecting to recognise it through the empty question, passing by it on multiple occasions in this part of the city.
âOh, Iâve seen it a few times.â
âYeah, weâve been there for a while.â
âFamily business?â
âUhâsort of.âÂ
âOkay,â you sigh in an irritated laugh. This was going to be a very difficult hour. âKeep that to yourself too.â
âIs there a problem?â
Just as you lift your eyes to lock with his, a ready yes, there is actually a problem on your tongue, thereâs an intrusion.Â
âHere are your chocolate cakes,â the waitress places the cakes down, and then the drinks. âAnd your dry gin martinis. Do you guys need anything else?â By the time the waitress is gone youâve somewhat forced yourself to put that sudden surge of flames out, to a degree at least.Â
âOkay,â he sighs, grabbing his glass and downing nearly half the contents. He emerges, wiping a bit of a spill from the corner of his mouth. âLetâs get this out of the way.â
âHm?â Heâs speaking to you with a very weird surge of intensity, and it confuses you.
âNeither of us wanna be here. Youâre clearly trying to be hospitable but Iâd really rather you not, especially when weâre both doing this to get our respective ticks off our hides.â
There isnât much you can do but stare at him.Â
âHave I misjudged your advances?â he asks over his glass, sharp eyes piercing.Â
âNo!â you yelp, reaching for your drink yourself, taking big sips only to emerge sputtering and heaving.Â
Your date looks like heâs rising out of his chair when you raise a hand to stop him.Â
âNo,â you repeat, less jumpy this time. âI guess we couldâve cleared that out from before.â
Did heâŚsnort?
âSorry.â Dropping his chin to his chest, he composes himself.Â
âWhat?â you ask, remaining annoyed as ever.Â
âNothing.â
That does it. You slam your now empty glass down on the table, slipping your fork out of the napkin a little forcefully, the metal glinting in the light of the restaurant. You dig into a corner of the cake and shove it in your mouth.Â
If he was gonna be rude, you could be too.Â
âI donât know about hospitable.â You swallow. âBut I assumed not being an ass was kind of an unwritten rule for any situation really. Including the ones youâd rather not be in.â
Wonwoo stares at you with a blank face, his cake untouched. âIâm being an ass. My laugh couldnât have offended you that much.â
âSo you did pick that up,â you comment. âWith the way this conversationâs going I wouldâve thought it flew right over your engine.â
âIâd argue your laugh was the least offensive thing youâve done tonight.â You plunge your fork into your cake again. âBut clearly weâre in different realms of etiquette.â
Your eyes meet the rough stains on his attire, and then his own that bore into yours like a challenge. The cake isnât too sweet, rich just the right amount and texturally sound. Maybe something good did come out of this fiasco.Â
âOkay fine,â he announces, sitting up straighter. âI apologise.â
âFor laughing?â
âAnd for being obscenely late.â
âAnd?â
âAndâŚâ he genuinely looks like heâs struggling to figure it out, but catches your eyes flickering to his tattered and stained outfit. âAnd for my entirely inappropriate dressing sense. Youâll have to forgive me for that one, oil and grime are my spoils of war.â
âWear it like a badge, mister mechanic, but perhaps somewhere itâs appreciated.âÂ
Wonwoo has already finished his drink, his cake remaining untouched. âYouâre quite adamant on disliking me.â
âAnd youâre quite adamant on being a horrid conversationalist.â
The corners of his mouth lift the slightest bit. Opening his mouth to respond, you cut him off. âCars donât talk? Or perhaps, machines are easier to understand?â
âMore like I donât care to be personable.â
âThat canât be good for business.â
âThe cars speak for themselves.â
Heâs a weird one. Even more so when he offers to pay the entire bill, promising you he wasnât lying when he said he was good at what he does, and to âmake up for lost personality points.â You manage to pay your half anyway, considering the circumstances.Â
âCan you at least let me drive you home?â Wonwoo asks as you both step out of the establishment soon after.Â
âDepends.â You fix the strap of your bag. âWill it fall apart on the highway?â
The blaring white of the restaurant's outdoor lights backlight Wonwoo to make him look like some sad angel. He turns to you, the same slight smirk that seems to be plastered on his face. âWhy donât you find out?â
âWhat do you mean sell it? I got this thing a year ago!âÂ
There isnât much you can do but sigh loudly as you listen to Olivia talk about the state of her car, the one that cost too much to justify but she seemed to use and abuse like a very replaceable toy truck.Â
Leaning against the hood of the darn thing, you talk to her. âThe dealership is giving you a shit deal to take it off your hands, you might as well try your luck.â
The look on her face is easy to read as she silences. Not convinced in the slightest, waiting for the conversation to end just so she could figure it out on her own. Sighing loudly, you look back to the dark beauty with a crate of issues that make it spit and sputter to a stop every few weeks.Â
âHow much did you say the repairs cost again?â
âEnough to put me on food stamps,â she whines through her frustration, tears pricking against her eyes as they glisten under the neighbourhood streetlights. âWhy are you smirking like that?!â
âItâs just,â you pause as you consider your next words, pressing your lips together. âThis is a little bit your fault.â
Lies, it was entirely her fault.Â
Liv stares like youâve just offended her, which youâre sure you have.
âCare to share how this possible bankruptcy could be my fault?"
âBecause you drive the thing like you have a secret reserve buried somewhere in Tenerife.â
âMy apologies for making a habit of not being a public nuisance and going forty on a national highway.â
âYour speed-o-metre is not the issue here.â
âYes, of course, everythingâs my fault.â
âLiv, please!â You groan loudly. âJustâŚletâs try putting up a listing tomorrow. Consider the prospects and you can decide from there.â
Sagging her shoulders and stretching her neck, Liv decides to simply trudge back indoors in silence. You take it as a begrudging yes, and follow her inside.Â
That very night, when you were at the very cusp of falling into the dark space of sleep, your brain re-awakens before your eyes do. A jolt as the memory comes back to you of the many months ago, sitting in that restaurant across from a man who was too handsome for the personality he seemed to sire.Â
âExpensive ones,â he had said. âOnes that rich people abuse to an inch of the machineâs life and wonder why the dealership gives up on it.â
How fitting.Â
âAre you going to explain or should I explode instead?âÂ
Youâd mentally prepared for the bombardment of accusations from Liv, her questioning perfectly right as you yourself cringed at the thought of showing your face here of all places. The one last one thatâd officially banned her from ever setting you up with an individual of her choosing ever again.Â
Hearing only silence as her answer, she appeals; âI thought he was the worst date of your life.â
âNothing to do with his skills as a mechanic,â you mumble, refusing to make eye contact.Â
âAnd everything to do with this being a horrible idea anyway!â Liv stares up at the sign on top of the garage. Jeon Motors. âWhat makes you think this guy can fix my car?â
What did make you think he could fix Livâs car? If youâd known you might have given her an answer, but as you stare at the giant signboard that youâve driven past for longer than you can remember, you canât help but feel this place has been haunting you. Just a little.Â
You canât help but feel the tingle of goosebumps rise on your skin, the hairs across the expanse standing up at the thought of walking inside. There was no way you could differentiate the reaction from plain nerves or from the cringing drills that sound all the way outside the establishment. Regardless, you make an attempt to look confident as you make your strides into the pungent of the workshop.Â
The first thing you note is howâŚclean everything is. Cleaner than any other workshop youâve walked into anyway.Â
The interior is bigger than it looks from the outside, the ginormous hall hosting about a dozen cars within your eyeshot alone. One side of the great hall holds an array of parked cars in different stages of dismantled and deconstructed, while the other side is lined with contraptions that look like stripped and enlarged elevators.Â
Once youâve inhaled a beyond recommended amount of smoke fumes and listened past all of the clanging, banging and sparks, you register the people that are elbow deep in the hoods of the vehicle theyâre working on, enough to leave you and Liv standing at the entrance of an establishment that you can barely make sense of.Â
âCan I help you?â A man in stained beige overalls approaches your wide eyed pair, face half covered in his baseball hat and hands occupied with a rag.Â
To your slightest dismay, it isnât the man youâre looking for.
âUhâ is Wonwoo here?â you ask.Â
âHeâs in a meeting right now. Are you a friend?âÂ
No, just a failed love interest.
âHe,â you falter. If you werenât a friendâŚthen what were you? âHe gave me his card.â
âDo you need help with your car?â
âMine, actually,â Liv pipes. âItâs outside if you wanna take a look first.â
With one sweeping look across the warehouse, your eyes land on one of the few doors on the left. You register the plain look of it for barely a moment before joining Liv outside.Â
By the time her car has been rolled and parked inside for a more thorough inspection, itâs taken you every last grain of your willpower to not stalk back out and wait in your car. For whatever reason, you canât help but feel a very familiar spasm of irritation spark through you. Here you are, left anxiously waiting for the same man for a second time, merely feet away but remaining occupied with more important things.Â
At the very least, the multiple hands prodding around the carâs engine were being somewhat of use, attempting to survey the same issues that had been looked at about a dozen times before. You silently promise to be a better person if this trip wouldnât be for vain. Â
âAm I late for something again?âÂ
Your throat is suddenly clogged as you open your mouth and no sound graces your presence. The face that meets you has his eyebrows raised as he stares at you in expectation, a ghost of a smile on his face.Â
âWâWonwoo, hi, um.â You clear your throat loudly, heat cursing your cheeks. âNo, of course not.â
âTo what do I owe the pleasure afterâŚfour months?â he asks, hands on his hips and his back straightened.
âIâŚmy friendâs car needed to be looked at soâŚâ
âAh, of course!â He turns to where youâve motioned, looking at the popped hood of the car his employees are working on. âIâll take a look at it myself, donât worry about it.â
Heâs already walking away, towards the car and leaving you a ways away from the action. You stare at his back; the overalls tied at the waist and the stained white T-shirt that clings to his form from the humidity.
Wonwoo remains a man of a few words, and you remain at wits end about it all.Â
A loud honk gives you something to do as you jump at the sound so up close, scrambling to move away from the smack centre as another car pulls into the garage.Â
âCareful, those marks on the floor arenât just oil and paint.â Wonwoo snickers from his place hunched over the hood as he cranes his neck to look at you.Â
You walk over to where he is to get out of the way. âWas that meant to sound like an innuendo?â
âI was talking about the occasional running over someoneâs foot,â he answers. âNot sure what you were thinking.âÂ
Ignoring the jab, you note that it was now only you and him crowding the car, âWhereâs Olivia?â
âWent to look at spare parts.â You watch him as his gloved hands reach further into the enclave and yank at something hard.Â
âSo you can fix it?âÂ
âThe car? Itâll take a couple days but itâs not really an issue.â
Furrowing your brows, you press on, âBut the dealershipââ
âDealerships are the spawn of the devil,â he grunts as he finally wrenches out a spare nut or bolt or something thatâs covered in oil. âLet me guess, they wanted her to sell it back to them?â
Itâs your turn to raise your brows. âYes. They tried fixing it, but it'd just stop again.â
âBecause theyâve been fixing the symptoms.â He raises his eyes to meet yours, hands occupied with rubbing the part in his hands relatively clean with a rag. âThey havenât bothered to do anything about the actual problem.âÂ
âBecause thatâs gonna costâŚ?â
âCouple hundred, give or take,â he announces nonchalantly, turning his focus back to the engine.Â
âButââ Thatâs it?
âFifty extra for every question I have to answer after this.â You briefly wonder if Wonwooâs eyes were always this piercing, boring into your soul like he didnât need words to know what was going on with you.Â
âFine,â you huff, moving to drag a chair over, mostly just so you could have reason to break eye contact, and plop down as you watch him work.Â
The more you think about it, the more you can find yourself unbothered by his strange behaviour. He wasnât bleak, but nowhere near one of the more interesting people youâve met. Taking the opportunity to really scan the man head to toe, you canât say you find anything truly concrete to be this put off by him.Â
Not much of a talker, but with the times youâve prayed for a man that knew when to shut up sometimes, you wonder how much you can actually complain about this boon in particular.Â
Besides, he was a looker, and you were completely content shutting your trap if it meant you got to shamelessly ogle at him from this close.Â
âYou know, this place looks bigger than it does from the outside.â
Wonwoo stares pointedly.Â
You raise a shoulder in nonchalance, âWasnât a question!â
He simply huffs as he mumbles, âMore length than breadth I suppose.â
âWhat are those things called?â you ask as you watch a sedan get lifted into the on some platform on the other end of the row.Â
Glancing back, he answers, âPost lift, car lift, whatever you wanna call it.â
âWhat does it do?â
âTake a wild guess.â
âTouchĂŠ.âÂ
Glancing back at him, you catch sight of his stained shirt once again. âIs that the same thing you wore to our date?â
Chin to chest, he registers what heâs wearing, hands still working on pulling bolts and boxes out of the hood. âHave about twenty of the same shirt, I can never be too sure.â
âYouâre impossible.â
He smirks, âTouchĂŠ.âÂ
You questioned if this was a mistake.Â
Olivia could pick up her car herself, so why did you insist to be the one that did it? As you pay the taxi driver, you feel your ankles lock for a moment as you move to slip out of the cab. Frozen, you hear the driver ask you if everything was alright, to which your legs seem to work again, finally foot to gravel in front of the dreaded workshop.
The Jeon Motors sign blares the same as it always has in the afternoon light, glinting as it encourages you to walk in and do one of the stupider things youâve done in life. Other than the ridiculous outfit youâve put on, of course.Â
But alas, as you hand over your slip to one of the many mechanics in the workshop, you find yourself praying he wasnât here after all, that perhaps you could miss him as you leave and never have to see him again.Â
Somebody yells out his name, and the dream drifts away like smoke.Â
Finding the courage, you look up to where the man shouted for him, and immediately wish you hadnât.Â
Wonwoo remains in his overalls, the same ones that he had tied to his waist the last time you saw him. His undershirt howeverâŚ
The tank top is revealing too much for you to pretend you donât care, his hair remaining pushed back and away from his forehead as he walks over to you in what feels like slow motion. He takes the slip that he does not need, smiling at you as he says his hellos.Â
âCarâs all fixed up, just need some papers that need signing and youâre all set.â
âOh, but Liv isnât here today.â
âThatâs alright, you can sign them too,â he reassures, motioning for you to walk with him towards the car. âThe car was alright in the test drives, revving hasnât caused any problems either.â
He halts in front of the now (supposedly) fixed black sedan and pats the hood lightly, âIf anything happens tell her to bring it straight here, although it shouldnât have any more problems.â
âWhatâs your rate of return on customers?â you ask, a slight smirk on your face.
He thinks for a moment, âPretty crap. But I guess that means Iâm doing something right.â
You consider yourself something of a helicopter parent when it comes to your own car, but perhaps youâd change that if it meant youâd get to come here a little more often.Â
Goodness, whatâs gotten into you.
Wonwooâs smiling too, and for a brief moment the silence is nearly awkward. A pause before he proposes leaving.Â
âShall we go to the office then?âÂ
Nodding eagerly, you trail behind him as he leads you towards the other end of the workshop, passing by even more cars in all their stripped or constructed glory. Glancing in front, you catch sight of Wonwooâs back, ensnared for a moment before you snap your head away, reciting every curse word you know like a mantra.Â
âItâs less hot in here too, keep the air on all the time.â Wonwoo stands in front of the plain doors, hands on the handle to wrench it open. You recognise it as the same door you had noted a few days ago. âWould you like anything? Coffee, tea?â
âUm, just water is fine, thanks.â
Itâs quite plain, beige and leather against cream walls and unfittingly white lights. Thereâs a desk on one corner thatâs beyond cluttered with more papers than you can register, pens and other office supplies mixed into the disorganised chaos of the large tabletop.
âSorry about the mess, I can never find time to sort through it.â To your surprise, the light tinge of his cheeks suggest he might actually feel a little embarrassed.Â
Cute.Â
Thereâs cabinets that line on one of the far walls, and you watch him take his gloves off to open it and reach for a cup. The white porcelain emerges stained with an ashy grey as his fingers betray him. He looks flustered, glancing at his hands and back up to the cabinet.Â
You canât help but laugh a little, moving forward to help. âItâs alright, let me.â
âSorry,â he apologised again, with a sheepish look on his face. âIâll, um, wash this off.â
âGo on, Iâm here,â you reassure as you move towards the water dispenser in the corner to fill your clean cup.Â
He returns with significantly cleaner hands and apologises one last time. âSeems all I do around you is apologise.â
You have the good humour to chuckle, âSo Iâve noticed.â
He does well to clear out most of the clutter thatâs on his desk, leaving enough room to set down a few pieces of paper as you take a seat on the opposite side.Â
As you scan through the papers, he attempts to make sober conversation. âYou shouldâŚbring your car around for inspections if you want.â
âOh? Even if I ask a million questions?â
âI can make an exception or two,â he grins.Â
âAnd if you charge me double?â
âMight not charge you at all.â
âMight?â you question as you lift the pen heâd given you to sign the first space.Â
âMight.â
âAnd whatâre the conditions for that?âÂ
He doesnât answer as he ponders and you fill in the second blank. âIâll have to think about that.â
You snort before you can help it, your last signature coming out a little wonky as your hands shake. Turning the papers over to him, you continue, âWell then, let me know when you figure it out.â
He stares pointedly as he accepts the papers before dropping his eyes again, âCan I?â
âHm?â
âCan I? Let you know?âÂ
Itâs like youâve been frozen over, the typewriter in your mind jamming as it punches out the implications of what heâs saying.Â
âIt seems, at least to me, that we may have gotten off on the wrong foot,â he continues.Â
You hesitate. âI think so too.â
âIâŚI donât want to put anything like pressure on you butââÂ
âWould you like to try the new gelato place downtown this week?â you ask finally as you save him from his misery. âIfâŚyouâd like.â
He looks stunned for a moment before heâs scrambling, âOhâof course! Yes, anytime is fine with me.â
âGreat,â you smile, lifting from your seat. âItâs a date.â
âIâll promise to wash my hands this timeâŚand my shirt. And I wonât be late.âÂ
âLetâs not make promises we canât keep,â you tease.Â
Youâre nearing the door as he follows behind, and just as youâre about to pull down on the handle, you hear him say your name.Â
Turning around, almost too eagerly, you look up at him in expectation. Heâs close, almost right behind you as he looks like heâs debating whether opening his mouth is a good idea.Â
âAre you doing anything else today?âÂ
âUm,â you stutter for a moment. âI donât have to drop off the car till later tonight, thatâs all really.â
He swallows. âDo you wanna stay? Just a little while. We can stay in here, nobody comes in anyway.â
You arenât entirely sure why you said yes, because you did actually have dinner plans with Liv later tonight, but the teeny tiny voice in your mind egged you on anyway. Besides, Liv wouldnât mind, not if you were cancelling for this.
This entailed the very friendly contact of Wonwooâs tongue in your mouth, and the extremely cordial way it seemed to caress your insides. If somebody asked you how it led to this, you donât think youâd have an answer. Not that you care, especially when his hands are grabbing your waist and hips like that.
Heâs already locked the door, reassuring you that nobody would find their boss and client in the smack dab middle of the devilâs tango. You take his word for it, relishing in the way his hot breath hits your skin below your ears, his mouth sucking under your earlobes as you whimper ever so quietly.Â
Your hands are on his exposed biceps, feeling him up all to your heart's content. âDo youâDo you always wear stuff like this?â
He emerges, wet lipped and eyes trained. âSo I wasnât imagining it.â
âImagining what?â you ask as you let him unbuckle your trousers.
âPlease. Like you werenât stripping me with your eyes.â
If you were warm before you, you're boiling up now. Were you being so obvious?
âItâs alright,â he reassures as you feel his fingers make contact with the crotch of your panties, pushing in to put pressure on your clit. âWouldnât be here if I hadnât picked up on it.â
You feel his fingers push the dampening fabric away as his fingers make contact with your hole, coating his fingers in the arousal thatâs made itself known. Itâs hard to not hiss at the way he begins to circle it, thanking the universe that the loud noises of the workshop outside were masking whatever evidence of the heinous crime you were committing inside.Â
Back against the couch in his office, you settle into the cushions once you feel him rub at your clit, one hand spreading your lips apart as he continues to massage your own wetness onto your throbbing cunt.Â
When he retreats you almost cry out, but are smothered when he plunges two fingers into your hole instead, curling them almost immediately inside you. The consistent brush of the tips of his fingers on your walls are making it difficult to keep your eyes open, and absolutely impossible to keep your moans at bay.Â
âWonwoo, thatâs so good, fuck.â
Through your closed eyes, you donât note when Wonwoo gets on his knees. But you do feel him yank your trousers off entirely, and you definitely feel him place his wet mouth flush on your lower lips, sucking at your clit as he continues to pump his fingers in and out of you mercilessly.Â
Thatâs all it takes for your noises to become increasingly high pitched, hands buried in his beautiful hair as he continues to pleasure you beyond imagination.Â
âIâm so close, keep going, please, it feels soââ
He somehow buries his face in deeper, sucking harder, licking faster, and itâs enough for you to finally feel yourself collapsing on the inside, your composure dissolving as you moan so loud youâre sure they can hear it outside, even through all the clanging and revs of cars.Â
Thereâs no way for you to know how long you lay there slumped against the couch cushions, but when you hear Wonwoo speak to you in your ear, you answer.Â
âWas that okay?â
âMore than okay,â you say as you grab his face and pull his lips to yours, tasting the tang in his mouth from your arousal. âDo you have a condom?â
âIâfuck,â he thinks for a moment. âI donât think I do.â
You try not to feel too disappointed, but you sigh into his mouth anyway.Â
âCan I fuck your thighs?â you hear him ask, and you might have just orgasmed again, untouched.Â
âFuck, yes you can.âÂ
With a yelp, you feel yourself lifted off the couch as you wrap your arms around Wonwooâs neck, letting him guide you to his desk. âWonwoo!â
You hear a loud crash of the desk being stripped of all its inhabitants, and your back hitting the cool of the table top.Â
Wonwoo unties the arms of his overalls around his waist, letting the legs pool to the floor before slipping his hard cock out of his boxers.Â
You donât see it as you feel him lock your knees together and lift both your calves to rest on one of his shoulders. But you do feel it as he pushes the head into the seam of your thighs, watching the indent as the pink of his dick appears before you through the skin of your thighs.Â
Wonwooâs face is contorted as he pulls back and pushes back through again, this time brushing against your still sensitive clit. You gasp at contact, and immediately feel him thrusting faster.Â
âWonwoo,â you grunt. âLower.â
He obliges, pushing his dick lower so it can rub flush against your clit as he begins to roughen up his pace.Â
You moan as you feel his free hand that isnât holding your legs trail to the ends of your shirt, caressing over your stomach to pull it up and reveal your bra clad tits. He pushes his hands under the nearest cup and begins to grope you so wonderfully with his big, warm hands. Rolling the bud between his fingers, you can only grasp onto his wrists as a handheld to keep you down on earth.Â
The desk beneath you is rattling with noise, the full drawers making themselves known as Wonwoo pounds into your thighs like he would die if he stopped, mouth coming in contact with whatever skin of your legs he could reach, his breath fanning the side of your knees.Â
Youâre close again, and you know he is too with the way his thrusts are beginning to grow sloppy.Â
âThere,â he pants. âAlmost.â
You orgasm for the second time, the throb your clit beyond comprehension as the rough of his dick slides across your clit mercilessly.Â
âCum like this, Wonwoo please I need to see you cum.â
And he does, shooting the heft of his load to cover your already wet cunt and thighs, landing on your stomach as he continues to ride out his high between your legs.Â
The back of your head hits the table as you take in gulps of air through the aftermath of it all. Wonwoo is putting his weight on the back of your thighs, holding onto the table for support.Â
âOh, Liv is never gonna let me live this down,â you pant, lolling your head to one side as you register him.Â
He peers up at you through his hair, the stupid smirk on his face, âDo you care?â
Youâre smiling a little too when you answer, âNot really.â
And then your legs are off his shoulders as he nestles between them instead, diving in to lift your head and kiss you.Â
And you let him, although you wouldnât really call it too much of a kissânot when the both of you were smiling like idiots through the clash.Â

do you think i'll ever get to a place in my life where i'm actually a good person and i don't keep getting bombarded with people telling me all the ways i'm doing things wrong. will i ever stop feeling like i'm faking being good and i'm actually a despicable person deep down inside like there's something rotten and irremovable in the very core of me. i feel sick
As a recovering self-hater I have a few things that have been helping
Truly shitty people are typically, in my experience, not chronically preoccupied with anxieties that they need to be better. It seems to be the 100% rock-solid certainty that everything you ever do is selfless that you need to watch out for.
Motive only matters in court. If you donate 30 hours a week to charity so you can tell yourself you're a good person or you donate that same time because you genuinely enjoy helping people, that's still 30 hours, imo. At that point the argument is more philosophical than anything. The help is still happening.
Nobody can read your mind. You can be the bitterest, cattiest, most judgemental and mean-spirited motherfucker alive, but as long as you don't let your feelings hurt others, you're golden. In fact, I personally think you should get extra credit for effort. Swimming upriver ain't easy
None of us are selfless by nature. That's okay. We all crave attention, and validation, and comfort, and reward. That self-interest is a survival skill. It's not going anywhere and I don't think it should. The key is moderation, self control, and consideration for others.
The loudest voice in your head probably isn't yours. Survivors of all kinds of abuse- and all abuse is psychological to varying extremes- often keep their critic's narrative in their head. That voice that says you're awful- is that something you'd say to someone else? No? Then try to figure out who said it to you. They were probably an asshole. The voice that answers it it probably your own. Listen to that one
No, you will not feel like this forever. It's a pain in the ass, but dedicating time and thought into ignoring that inner critic and elevating your positive impulses is effective.
Some things I've done myself that seem to help:
Do some research on cognitive behavioral therapy and cognitive reprogramming. These are easier to exercise with a therapist but once you figure out the steps to follow you can do them on your own, too.
When you do something good, write it down for yourself. Keep a dated journal, either on paper or in your phone. When you find yourself in a pit of self-loathing, you can go back and remind yourself of all the good you've done. If this is hard, try listing 3 good things you did at the end of each day. Anything from picking up a scrap of litter to running a food drive.
Long post, but really, the best thing I can say is this:
Aything that takes effort is worth celebrating, even if that effort is minimal or that task is considered small.
At the end of the day, "bare minimum" isn't working a full-time job and eating three meals a day, cleaning up after yourself and doing it with a smile- bare minimum is nothing. Bare minimum is laying on the floor motionless for 24 hours and filter-feeding like a sea sponge. And if even that's difficult for you, then it's not your bare minimum, is it?
There's a lot of cruel, inconsiderate, uncaring people in the world, only out for themselves at the expense of others, and even if you think you're one of them, giving a shit about doing better still puts you a mile ahead of most.
Try not to worry too terribly. If you're thinking about it, you're probably doing fineđ

I honestly donât know how to write this; I have spent all week attempting to figure out what to say.
Last Monday I was informed by our factory that our merchandiser and direct point of contact with the factory passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago. She was someone who I have spent a great deal of time speaking to ever since we switched factories two years ago. She helped us realize designs for new products, sent us samples of garments extremely quickly and kept track of all our orders. She went to bat for us if something went wrong with our print shop or if I was unhappy with how a garment pattern was interpreted by their team. As their first American client and a brand that focuses on size inclusion, something that is not typical of their other clients, she handled a lot of crazy requests from us without blinking and she was dedicated to ensuring that both us and our customers were happy. We talked nearly every day, and though it was work related she was one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure interacting with daily.
She was beyond dedicated to her work and to working with us. Turkey has an 11-hour time difference from me in California, which means when she was emailing me at 2pm in the afternoon it was 1am there. You can sure bet that I extended her the same courtesy and tried my best to answer her emails at night too, even when I would rather just be sleeping.
It was also clear just how much she loved her job, and now much she loved you guys. She had been silently watching our social media since we first started working with them. She got just as excited as we did on launch days and would often email me unprompted about how she was glad people were leaving such positive comments and reviews. She read your feedback when no one ever asked her to do that or even expected it of her. She did it because she really, really cared.
Even though she was miles away and we never met in person, she was like a coworker to me and the loss of her is like losing someone on our team.
The Maya Kern team, as a whole, has been dealing with a lot lately. I personally just moved (which took far longer than we expected) and Maya and Devin are gearing up to move back to Minneapolis pretty soon. With the loss of our merchandizer, it has taken the wind out of my sails a little bit. I was trying to push through, even though I am exhausted, and carry out the photo shoot for our new products this weekend, but it has become clear that my body just canât handle it. My arthritis has finally told me to stop moving, so unfortunately, we are going to have to reschedule the shoot for later on.
We are doing everything we can to make sure our next product drop on the 21st still happens. But as of right now, due to this sudden loss, the garments havenât even shipped from the factory yet and I am not optimistic that they will clear customs and get checked into the fulfillment center in time for the launch. This means the drop is likely going to be pushed back to December 5th and instead of a full photo shoot, we will probably have to settle for taking quick photos of everyone at home, and likely with our phones.Â
We work really hard to deliver not just garments we believe in, but also pictures of said garments on bodies that our customers can relate to, and unfortunately I just do not think that is possible this time. As always, we really appreciate your patience and understanding during what has been a very difficult time for us.

'...âItâs fun playing bad, but actually heâs not,â the actor says, smiling as he reflects on his character, Crowley. âHeâs a villain with a heart. The amount of really evil things he does are vanishingly small.â
...As it always has, âGood Omensâ dissects the view of good and evil as absolutes, showing viewers that they are not as separate as we were led to believe growing up. Aziraphale and Crowleyâs long-standing union is proof of this. The show also urges people to look at what defines our own humanity. For Tennant â who opted to wear a T-shirt emblazoned with the words âLeave trans kids alone you absolute freaksâ during a photocall for Season 2 â these themes are more important now than ever before.
âIn this society that weâre currently living in, where polarization seems ever more present, fierce and difficult to navigate. Negotiation feels like a dirty word at times,â he says, earnestly. âThis is a show about negotiation. Two extremes finding common ground and making their world a better place through it. Making life easier, kinder and better. If thatâs the sort of super objective of the show, then I canât think of anything more timely, relevant or apt for the rather fractious times weâre living in.â
âGood Omensâ is back by popular demand for another season. How does it feel?
Itâs lovely. Whenever you send something out into the world, you never quite know how it will land. Especially with this, because it was this beloved book that existed, and that creates an extra tension that you might break some dreams. But it really exploded. I guess we were helped by the fact that we had Neil Gaiman with us, so you couldnât really quibble too much with the decisions that were being made. The reception was, and continues to be, overwhelming.
Now that youâre no longer bound by the original material that people did, perhaps, feel a sense of ownership over, does the new content for Season 2 come with a sense of freedom for you? This is uncharted territory, of sorts.
Thatâs an interesting point. I didnât know the book when I got the script. It was only after that I discovered the worlds of passion that this book had incited. Because I came to it that way, perhaps it was easier. I found liberation from that, to an extent. For me, it was always a character that existed in a script. At first, I didnât have that extra baggage of expectation, but I acquired it in the run-up to Season 1 being released⌠the sense that suddenly we were carrying a ming vase across a minefield.
In Season 2, we still have Neil and we also have some of the ideas that he and Terry had discussed. During the filming of the first one, Neil would drop little hints about the notions they had for a prospective sequel, the title of which would have been â668: The Neighbour of the Beast,â which is a pretty solid gag to base a book around. Indeed there were elements like Gabriel and the Angels, who donât feature in the book, that were going to feature in a sequel. They were brought forward into Season 1. So, even in the new episodes, weâre not entirely leaving behind the Terry Pratchett-ness of it all.
Itâs great to see yourself and Michael Sheen reunited on screen as these characters. Fans will have also watched you pair up for Season 3 of âStaged.â Youâre quite the dynamic duo. What do you think is the magic ingredient that makes the two of you such a good match?
Itâs a slightly alchemical thing. We knew each other in passing before, but not well. We were in a film together [âBright Young Things,â 1993] but weâd never shared a scene. It was a bit of a roll of the dice when we turned up at the read-through for âGood Omens.â I think a lot comes from the writing, as we were both given some pretty juicy material to work with. Those characters are beloved for a reason because thereâs something magical about them and the way they complete each other. Also, I think weâre quite similar actors in the way we like to work and how we bounce off each other.
Does the shorthand and trust the two of you have built up now enable you to take more risks on-screen?
Yes, probably. I suppose the more you know someone, the more you trust someone. You donât have to worry about how an idea might be received and you can help each other out with a more honest opinion than might be the case if you were, you know, dancing around each otherâs nervous egos. Enjoying being in someoneâs orbit and company is a positive experience. It makes going to work feel pleasant, productive, and creative. The more creative you can be, the better the work is. I donât think itâs necessarily a given that an off-screen relationship will feed into an on-screen one in a positive or negative way. You can play some very intimate moments with someone you barely know. Acting is a peculiar little contract, in that respect. But itâs disproportionately pleasurable going to work when itâs with a mate.
Fans have long discussed the nature of Crowley and Aziraphaleâs relationship. In Season 2, we see several of the characters debate whether the two are an item, prompting them to look at their union and decipher what it is. How would you describe their relationship?
They are utterly co-dependent. Thereâs no one else having the experience that they are having and theyâve only got each other to empathize with. Itâs a very specific set of circumstances theyâve been dealt. In this season, we see them way back at the creation of everything. Theyâve known each other a long time and theyâve had to rely on each other more and more. They canât really exist one without the other and are bound together through eternity. Crowley and Aziraphale definitely come at the relationship with different perspectives, in terms of what theyâre willing to admit to the relationship being. I donât think we can entirely interpret it in human terms, I think thatâs fair to say.
Yet fans are trying to do just that. Do you view it as beyond romantic or any other labels, in the sense that itâs an eternal force?
Itâs lovely [that fans discuss it] but you think, be careful what you wish for. If youâre willing for a relationship to go in a certain way or for characters to end up in some sort of utopian future, then the story is over. Remember what happened to âMoonlighting,â thatâs all Iâm saying! [Laughs]
Your father-in-law, Peter Davison, and your son, Ty Tennant, play biblical father-and-son duo Job and Ennon in Episode 2. In a Tumblr Q&A, Neil Gaiman said that he didnât know who Tyâs family was when he cast him. When did you become aware that Ty had auditioned?
I donât know how that happened. I do a bunch of self-tapes with Ty, but I donât think I did this one with him because I was out of town filming âGood Omens.â He certainly wasnât cast before we started shooting. There were two moments during filming where Neil bowled up to me and said, âGuess, who weâve cast?â Ty definitely auditioned and, as I understand it, they would tell me, he was the best. I certainly imagine he could only possibly have been the best person for the job. He is really good in it, so I donât doubt thatâs true. And then my father-in-law showed up, as well, which was another delicious treat. In the same episode and the same family! It was pretty weird. I have worked with both of them on other projects, but never altogether.
Thereâs a âDoctor Whoâ cameo, of sorts, in Episode 5, when Aziraphale uses a rare annual about the series as a bartering tool. In reality, youâll be reprising your Time Lord role on screen later this year in three special episodes to mark the 60th anniversary. Did you always feel youâd return to âDoctor Whoâ at some point?
Thereâs a precedent for people who have been in the series to return for a multi-doctor show, which is lovely. I did it myself for the 50th anniversary in 2013, and I had a wonderful time with Matt [Smith]. Then, to have John Hurt with us, as well, was a little treat. But I certainly would never have imagined that Iâd be back in âDoctor Whoâ full-time, as it were, and sort of back doing the same job I did all those years ago. It was like being given this delightful, surprise present. Russell T Davies was back as showrunner, Catherine Tate [former on-screen companion] was back, and it was sort of like the last decade and a half hadnât happened.
Going forward, Ncuti Gatwa will be taking over as the new Doctor. Have you given him any advice while passing the baton?
Oh God, what a force of nature. Iâve caught a little bit of him at work and itâs pretty exciting. I mean, what advice would you give someone? You can see Ncuti has so much talent and energy. Heâs so inspired and charismatic. The thing about something like this is: itâs the peripherals, itâs not the job. Itâs the other stuff that comes with it, that I didnât see coming. Itâs a show that has so much focus and enthusiasm on it. Itâs not like Ncuti hasnât been in a massive Netflix series [âSex Education,â] but âDoctor Whoâ is on a slightly different level. Itâs cross-generational, international, and has so much history, that it feels like it belongs to everyone.
To be at the center of the show is wonderful and humbling, but also a bit overwhelming and terrifying. It doesnât come without some difficulties, such as the immediate loss of anonymity. It takes a bit of getting used to if thatâs not been your life up to that point. I was very lucky that when I joined, Billie Piper [who portrayed on-screen companion, Rose] was still there. Sheâd lived in a glare of publicity since she was 14, so she was a great guide for how to live life under that kind of scrutiny. I owe a degree of sanity to Billie.
Your characters are revered by a few different fandoms. Sci-fi fandoms are especially passionate and loyal. What is it like being on the end of that? I imagine itâs a lot to hold.
Yes, certainly. Having been a fan of âDoctor Whoâ since I was a tiny kid, youâre aware of how much it means because youâre aware of how much it meant to you. My now father-in-law [who portrayed Doctor Who in the 80s] is someone I used to draw in comic strips when I was a kid. Thatâs quite peculiar! Itâs a difficult balance because on one end, you have to protect your own space, and there arenât really any lessons in that. That does take a bit of trial and error, to an extent, and itâs something that youâre sometimes having to do quite publicly. But, it is an honor and a privilege, without a doubt. As youâve said, it means so much to people and you want to be worthy of that. You have to acknowledge that and be careful with it. Some days thatâs tough, if youâre not in the mood.
I know youâre returning to the stage later this year to portray Macbeth. Youâve previously voiced the role for BBC Sounds, but how are you feeling about taking on the character in the theater?
Iâm really excited about it. Itâs been a while since Iâve done Shakespeare. Itâs very thrilling but equally â and this analogy probably doesnât stretch â itâs like when someone prepares for an Olympic event. It does feel like a bit of a mountain and, yeah, youâre daring to set yourself up against some fairly worthy competition from down the years. Thatâs both the challenge and the horror of doing these types of things. Weâve got a great director, Max Webster, who recently did âLife of Pi.â Heâs full of big ideas. Itâs going to be exciting, thrilling, and a little bit scary. Iâm just going to take a deep breath.
Before we part ways, letâs discuss the future of âGood Omens.â Gaiman has said that he already has ideas for Season 3, should it happen. If you were to do another season, is there anyone in particular youâd love to work with next time around or anything specific youâd like to see happen for Crowley?
Oh, Neil Gaiman knows exactly where he wants to take it. If youâre working with people like Gaiman, I wouldnât try to tamper with that creative void. Were he to ask my opinion, that would be a different thing, but I canât imagine he would. Heâs known these characters longer than me and whatâs interesting is what he does with them. Thatâs the bit that Iâm desperate to know. I do know where Crowley might end up next, but it would be very wrong if I told you.
[At this point, Tennant picks up a pencil and starts writing on a hotel pad of paper.]
I thought you were going to write it down for me then. Perhaps like a clandestine meeting on a bench in St Jamesâ Park, but instead youâd write the information down and slide it across the tableâŚ
I should have done! I was drawing a line, which obviously, psychologically, I was thinking, âSay no more. Youâre too tempted to reveal a secret!â It was my subconscious going âShut the fuck up!â

Hello! I saw your requests were open and wanted to put one in. Can I request Silver, Azul, and Vil with a reader who likes them but feels like they can't confess bc they're scared to form any more attachments to the people in twisted wonderland bc they think they have to return to their world and can't stay? Idk if that makes sense but yeah đ
Ty in advance and have a nice day :)
of course!!! hehe. ended up writing this a little sappier than my usual headcanons
*ŕŠâŠâ§âË wordless confession
type of post: headcanons characters: azul, vil, silver additional info: romantic, reader is gender neutral, reader is yuu, long
Azul is pretty perceptive. it doesn't take a lot for him to guess that you have feelings for him, unbelievable as it is (to him, at least)... and he also had Jade ask you a few questions in a totally normal and non-threatening manner. he's also guessed that you're holding back because of your... well, unfortunate situation. you're smart, like him, enough to know that it's more trouble than it's worth. unfortunate as it is, staying away from each other proves to be harder than you thought (with no help from the tweels, who love the drama and think that Azul desperately "needs some bitches"- in Floyd's words, not mine). bumping into each other turns to awkward conversation, which turns to time spent together, which ends with your pinky fingers linked together on dates that you both insist are only meetings
*ŕŠâŠâ§âË
it was Vil who fell first, but he didn't really know it. to him, you were simply good friends, better than he'd ever had, and he wanted to hold onto that for as long as he could. you were always fated to leave him; he knew this. and so he wouldn't let himself believe he was in love until you started shying away, avoiding him to avoid your own feelings. those few weeks were some of the hardest, but they made him realize that he was losing you whether he confessed or not. he didn't want to live thinking about what could have been, rather than what was. he'll always have his career, his fans, his friends and family, but there's only one you, and only one chance he has to make your time together special
*ŕŠâŠâ§âË
Silver thought that keeping himself busy would keep his thoughts off of you. he'd thought he was dreaming it at first. that, perhaps, he'd dozed off mid-conversation and only dreamt of you, shying away, fidgeting with your hands, avoiding eye contact. but when Lilia starts asking about you, and Sebek starts making noises of disgust when you're together, he realizes he'd been more awake than usual. it's not difficult to guess that you're withholding yourself because of your... background, and, at first, Silver wants to respect your wish and remain friends. it's not as simple as that, though, and after Lilia encourages him to pursue you anyway (human lives are so very short, after all), he does just that

Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse comes out later today so I wanted to write a post reflecting on my journey and experience working on this movie. So many people have supported me through this and I am so thankful to each and every one of you!
Text version of this post under the cut:
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse comes out tonight. It feels really weird to be typing that out right now. I worked on the movie as a visdev artist for the last 2.5 years, from 2020 to 2023. Long post incoming.
There are a lot of reasons why I'd consider this film to be one of the most ambitious animated films to ever be made. As artists, we were asked to push ourselves far beyond our comfort zones and do things that had never been done before in animation.
Every time we reached a point where most people would say "this must possibly be as creative and weird as it gets," our entire team of artists and animators would smash right through the ceiling. The driving direction for the visuals of the film was to push the limits of every single frame; to challenge audience expectations and make something truly original.
The best thing about this film was that there wasn't a single boring day working on this movie. The hardest thing about this film was also that there wasn't a single boring day working on this movie.
There were times while working on this where the imposter syndrome hit me hard. This was my first big movie, and what a hell of a first movie to get thrust into.
I came in only a few years out of school with absolutely no idea what the hell I was doing. I constantly feared that someone had made a mistake in bringing me onto this film, and I was going to let everyone down. There was a solid chunk of those 2.5 years where I wasn't sure if animation was the right path for me.
If there's anything I could tell my past self it would be this: there are so many people who love you and believe in you. There will be a time when you get to stand on the other side of it, look back on everything and see how far you came.
I'm still working on self-acceptance every day (it will be a lifelong struggle, I'm sure), but I'm glad I didn't give up on myself. I'm proud of myself and my contributions to this film, and I'm certain that this movie will continue to change and shape the animation landscape just as the first one did. That's truly a special feeling to have been a part of. I am so incredibly grateful to every single person who helped me along this journey.
Here come the thanks:
To the ENTIRE visdev & art crew- it's been an honor getting to work alongside each and every one of you. My jaw is literally still on the floor from seeing your incredible talent day after day.
I want to thank Tiffany and Felicia especially for being there for me through tough times- I admire and respect you both so much as artists, and even better than that, my life is greatly enriched for being able to call you my friends.
Thank you Patrick and Dean for taking chances on me, teaching me so much about art and what I'm capable of, and encouraging me along the way. To Aymeric, your art is one of the reasons I initially became interested in animation and you have been one of the kindest & most empathetic mentors I could ever have asked for.
I want to thank my wonderful parents for believing in me always and raising me into the person I am today: everything I do in life is to make you proud. To my brother Andrew who is perpetually awake at 3 AM when I need someone to talk to- thank you for always picking up the phone and making me laugh.
And finally to my partner Luke for making me grilled cheeses on all of the difficult days, for never getting sick of me even when all I would ever talk about was work, and for patiently and steadfastly loving me throughout this entire thing. I don't think I could've done it without you.
Starting tomorrow I will begin posting and sharing some of the art I made for this movie; I'm looking forward to sharing some of my personal favorites with you. I hope each and every one of you enjoys Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse when it hits theaters later today!

obsessedloner!Choso/chubby!f!Reader pt.2
Summary: in the second part to this modern college au, obsessive loner!Choso goes too far; reader deals with the consequences of his need to keep you close to him and him alone when he feels like you're at risk of gaining the attentions of an even more popular classmate. Yet another self indulgent piece of work, but sue me, I couldn't stop writing this all day. Enjoy!
Warnings: toxic behavior, obsessive/possessive behavior, jealousy, emotional manipulation, smut, mating press, rough sex, hurt/comfort, talks of low self esteem, clingy, needy!Choso, begging, crying, break downs, and borderline yandere!Choso, and other less than healthy relationship dynamics.
wc: 5.3k
The birthday cake was placed on the teacherâs desk: the majority of your speech class had decided that since Satoru Gojoâs birthday was coinciding with the last week of exams before break, it would be fun to have a small party. You volunteered to bake the cake; the professor gave permission to use his classroom that afternoon, with the condition the space was tidied up afterward and things didnât get too rowdy. It was going to be a nice opportunity to celebrate the coming holiday season and the student who was arguably the schoolâs golden boy. Even those who didnât like Gojoâs flippant arrogance and teasing nature admired his work ethic and almost supernatural intelligence, to say nothing of his undeniably pretty face.Â
Choso was only there because he knew you were attending and in charge of bringing the requested birthday cake. He didnât feel one way or the other about Gojo, but he would gladly be by your side, eager to hear the compliments your baking would receive and also to make sure no picky eaters decided to get nit picky and spoil your mood. Truly, Choso had been happy on your behalf to hear you had agreed to help with the party. He certainly wouldnât think to go out of his way to do something like this for people he didnât really know outside of a forty five minute, twice a week class. Choso was more than proud to be the boyfriend of a person so thoughtful and generous to a fault; it was one of the reasons he fell so hard in the first place. You never needed a special reason to be kind to someone. And of course, it helped that you were still the most adorable thing he had ever seen in his life and the last few months had been nothing short of heaven.
Except, the cake was red velvet. Choso stands by the teacherâs desk, staring at the cake. It was his favorite flavor. He told you that not long ago and you had promised the first time you made it, it would be for him.Â
The cake is beautifully, painstakingly decorated, a perfect ratio of cake and fluffy frosting, sprinkled in bits of dark chocolate; the matching icing spells out âHappy Birthday, Satoru!â in delicate, looping letters across the top. You obviously put a lot of care into making this for Gojo. That afternoon you had been the first person to arrive, followed shortly by another student, Suguru Geto; he wasnât in the same speech class, but he was Gojoâs best friend and knew some of the class already, so inviting him was a given. The two of you had left to find a lighter and candles, hoping the school store in the basement of the building would provide something suitable. You told Choso he didnât need to come; you noticed he had seemed a bit drained from studying and his recently acquired part time job, so you insisted he just hang back and relax while you and Geto went to obtain the finishing touches for the cake.Â
For the past two minutes Choso has stood in place where you left him, eyeing the cake so innocently sitting atop the cleared off desk. He didnât know it would be red velvet. Gojo had a sweet tooth and would probably love it.Â
Surely this is too much for just an acquaintance. The recipe is a lot more difficult than the stuff youâve made before, Choso saw there were more steps and more factors that could go wrong and ruin the cakeâs moist and spongy texture. Skeptically, Choso narrows his eyes at the round, two tiered dessert. Most of the girls in your shared class offered to bake, but you were the one with the most experience and Gojo had eagerly picked you for the task. You must have felt obligated to make the cake perfect.
Chosoâs frown deepens; he is your boyfriend. You promised you would make a cake like this just for him. A gesture like this could easily be taken the wrong way too and youâre so sweet and self effacing, heâs sure the idea of Gojo choosing you to personally make his cake didnât mean anything at all.
It should be for him.
âWhatâŚwhat happened?â
The smile fell from your lips mere seconds after returning from the school store; Geto, insisting on carrying the purchases, had just been relaying a funny anecdote of one of his and Gojoâs misadventures as the two of you walked back into the now empty classroom. On the ground, right next to the base of the professor's sturdy wooden desk is nothing short of a mess.Â
âMy cake,â your hands come up to cover your gaping mouth. âWhat happened?!â
Geto approaches the desk with a confused frown; the cake and the plate it had been placed on are both on the floor. It seemed to have fallen top first, the icing and frosting smeared over the tiles and the plate broken into pieces around it.Â
âIt fell.â Geto states simply, although not without some incredulity. âWas it close to the edge?â
âNo, I, well,â you struggle to recall exactly where you had placed the cake before you left the room. âI didnât think I put it that close to the edge.â
âThereâs frosting streaks on the side tooâ it must have just toppled over.â Geto points out with a keen eye, kneeling a bit, bags still in hand. âIt might have just been a bit uneven, a little heavier to one side?â he stands to his full height and smiles at you sympathetically. âThese things happen, just a little bad luck. Iâm sorry, it was a beautiful cake.â
âBut everyoneâs going to be here soon,â you fret as you search through your bag. âGeto, Iâm going to go buy another cake, thereâs a store nearby, Iâm sure theyâll have something. Oh and Iâll find a custodian, oh no, Iâm so sorry, I canât believe this is happening-â
âLet me go.â Geto places a hand over your tensed shoulder. âIt makes more sense, I know what kind of cake Satoru prefers the most. Thereâs plenty of time and a few others promised to bring drinks and snacks.â
âBut I said Iâd bring the cake. At least let me give you the money for it?â you hold up a few bills with a pleading stare. âI feel horrible, I should have been more careful where I put it.â
âDonât beat yourself up; you are the one who did the work to make it.â Geto chuckles but accepts the money if only to make you feel a bit more at ease. âMaybe itâs better this way: with how good that cake looked, Iâd wager you might have ended up with that glutton badgering you for more sweets.â
You return his smile as well as you can. âThank you. Iâm just being silly.â
âYouâre fine.â Geto says firmly, but not unkindly. âYou call a janitor, donât try to clean up this alone; we wouldnât want you to get a cut from trying to pick up pieces of that plate. Iâll be back before you know it; Satoru would sulk all afternoon if I donât get him something anyway.â
âYouâre a good friend.â you smile at Geto gratefully. âThank you, Iâll call someone right away.â
You do just that shortly after Geto takes his leave; most of the custodians have already left for the day, except for one woman. She promises to be there as soon as sheâs done with a request from one of the professors in the neighboring building; she sounds pleasant enough, but you feel pangs of guilt as you hang up and take a seat closest to the teacherâs desk.Â
âBunny? Are you okay?â
âChoso, youâre back!â you look up and wave at him, trying to sound cheerful; he glances at the ruined cake and back to your pained smile. âAh, were you looking for me? I guess we just missed each other, the basement elevator was out of order, so we took the stairs. What a mess, huh? Geto thinks one side was a little heavier and it made the cake just flop right over the edge. Some bad luck, right? He left to get a cake and the custodian will be here soon, so make sure not to step on the plate bits.â
âHey, slow down. Iâm not worried about that.â Chosoâs brow furrows as he studies your shaky smile. âAre you okay?â
âYeah, Iâm fine. No big deal, accidentâŚaccidents happen.â
You bite your bottom lip harshly as your eyes begin to sting; before you know it, tears are slowly slipping down your cheeks. You quickly avert your eyes, too embarrassed to see the pitying look cross Chosoâs face.
âOh Choso, I feel so stupid. I canât believe I put the cake that close to the edge! Ugh, I should have paid more attention, I told everyone I would make this amazing cake and I messed it all up and now Geto has to go all the way to the stupid store to get another one because I wasnât careful!â
âDid he get mad at you?â Choso asked sharply. âDid he blame you?â
âNo, no, Geto didnât do anything.â you bow your head and wipe at your wet cheeks. âHe was really nice about it, so was the janitor on the phone about the mess, but I still feel bad. Gojo was just telling me he was really looking forward to the cake too. Iâm sure heâll be disappointed to get a store bought cake and I promised Iâd take care of this for the party. Sorry, I know Iâm being a crybaby, I should just suck it up, Iâm the one who ruined things, I shouldnât be feeling sorry for myself.â
âNo, you didnât. Itâs not your fault.â
You raise your head and Choso is standing in front of the table between him and you; his hands are gripping tightly around the strap of his duffel bag. You wipe the last of your tears and look at him, your chest swelling at how upset he is on your account.
âYouâre so sweet. Just having you to vent to makes me feel better already; Iâm really just being dramatic, Iâve been stressed out and-â
âItâs not your fault.â Choso cuts you off quietly; he still isnât looking at you. âItâs mine.â
âWhat? Baby, no, I didnât expect you to watch the cake; itâs on me for not making sure it wasnât so close to the edge, you didnât do anything.â
âI pushed it.â
Chosoâs knuckles are white: heâs strangling the strap of his bag between quivering hands. Finally, he looks into your bewildered eyes
âChoso, is this some kind of joke?âÂ
âI didnât want him to have it and, and I thought he might get ideas since you worked so hard to bake it. He flirts with all the girls and you did say you were going to make it for me first.â
âYouâve got to be joking.â you shake your head and all but leap up from your chair. âYou? How could you? And you were going to let me think it was my fault?!â
âNo! It was supposed to look like an accident, I didnât think youâd be so upset,â
âSo it was okay for me to be âkind ofâ upset? Choso, how could you?â you ask him again, voice raising, almost echoing in the empty room. âItâs just a cake!â
âYeah, itâs just a stupid cake, thatâs why I didnât think youâd get this upset!â
Chosoâs mouth clamps shut as your anger gives way to a look of utter hurt.Â
âWow.â
âI shouldnât have said that-â
âThanks a lot, Choso. Yeah, that really makes it better. Was that your plan? Swoop in and play the comforting boyfriend while I feel like a big idiot? Or maybe you just donât consider my hobbies anything special; anyone can make a cake, right?â Fresh tears well up in your eyes as you tug your bag over your shoulder. âNice to know what you really think.â
âHey, wait a minute,â Choso says reproachfully. âI didnât mean it the way it sounded, youâre putting words in my mouth!â
âYou know what?â you shake your head and unzip the front section of your bag; clumsily you yank out a sealed box and slam it down on the table. Choso recognizes it as one of the little boxes you use to pack individual desserts. âHere, your stupid cake. Surprise.â
The lid of the container is now sticking to the top of the cake but Choso can still make out the messy letters of his name and the heart shaped sprinkles scattered all over the surface. His eyebrows raise as he sees the small, squashed up cake is in the shape of a heart. You glare down at it before turning on your heel without so much as a backward glance.
âBunny?â Choso snaps out of his trance and begins to follow you. âWhere are you going?â
âAway from you.â
âI can explain, just calm down and let me-â
âLeave. Me. Alone!â you stop abruptly in the doorway and give him a nasty look, but youâre barely able to hold yourself back as Choso fixes you with a heartbroken stare. âDonât you dare tell me to calm down when youâre the one who threw a fucking tantrum. Enjoy the âstupid cakeâ, jerk!â
You slam the door in his face and rush down the hall to the nearest entrance, not particularly caring about where youâre going, just as long as you can get as much distance between you and Choso as possible. When you finally get home, you text Geto an apology for taking off and a nondescript explanation for your absence before turning your phone off. Youâre exhausted and skip dinner to just curl up in your bed, burrowing in a blanket as if you could shut out the world. Chosoâs t-shirt, the same one youâve been sleeping in nearly every night, is balled up and thrown somewhere across the room; eventually you fall asleep, eyes rubbed raw and nose stuffed as you drift off, hoping maybe this was all just a bad dream.
When morning arrives and you manage to force yourself into a sitting position, it takes you a minute or two to realize the gentle knocking isnât a leftover remnant from your deep slumber, but a very real sound coming from your front door. You wrap yourself in a robe and slip on a pair of house slippers, equally confused and irritated as to who could be knocking on your door when the sun is barely over the horizon. Just as the knocking stops, you peek through the peephole; thereâs no one there. You rub your eyes and unlock your door with a sigh, expecting a leaflet from some early bird salesman or religious group to be stuck in the hinges. Instead you nearly trip over a huddled up mass taking refuge on your doorstep when you didnât immediately open your door.
âChoso?! Oh my god, you scared me!â youâre still breathing a bit heavily, heart racing thinking a stranger had collapsed on your porch. âWhat are you doing here?â
âI,â Choso scrambles to his feet; you finally notice in his hands are two cups of coffee, one of which is your usual order, but the largest size. He holds it out to you. âGood morning. You werenât answering your phone.â
âI turned it off.â
After a beat, you take the cup on autopilot, more preoccupied with the man standing at the threshold of your home. The circles under Chosoâs eyes are darker than ever, in addition to how red and irritated they are around the edges, his hair is oily and limp. On closer inspection, you see heâs wearing the same clothes as yesterday; now theyâre more wrinkled and the slight odor coming off them tells you he hasnât showered yet.Â
âCan I come in?â Choso asks, his voice weak and barely louder than a whisper. âI have to talk to you.â
âFine.â you frown but move aside and open the door wider. âHere, come with me, I left my phone in my room.â
Choso does as heâs told, but trails after you at a slight distance, at least in comparison to how closely he usually stays to you. Heâs shivering; itâs the middle of winter and he isnât wearing even a jacket. How long had he been knocking on your door? How long had he planned to wait there outside? You banish the thought and busy yourself disconnecting your phone from its charger on your bedside table. Choso stands awkwardly in the middle of your room; he hasnât taken so much as a sip of his coffee or taken his eyes off you, at least as far as you can see.Â
âDid I wake you up?â he asks worriedly. âIâm sorry. I was going to wait but I thought you might have gone somewhere and you werenât answering your phone, soâŚâ he goes silent seeing his shirt in a crumpled heap in the corner of your room. âI just wanted to talk to you as soon as possible.â
You barely heard him, jaw dropping at your phoneâs screen as it fully turns on to show you 32 missed calls, 15 unheard voicemails, 18 unopened texts, and 5 emails, all from Choso over the course of the night. You tap your thumb on the latest voicemail.
âBunny? Bunny, canât you just talk to me?â A shaky, nearly unrecognizable croaking comes from the speaker: Chosoâs strong voice sounds strained, almost inaudible at certain points, as though he had been screaming until his throat was raw. âI know youâre probably sleepingâŚor maybe you donât want to talk to me ever again-â A sharp, wrecked sob crackles over the speaker but Choso manages to steady himself again. âBut I need toâŚI need to hear your voice. Iâm so sorry, Iâm so, so fucking sorry, Iâm sorry, please donât hate me. I love you so much it hurts. Iâm going to stop by tomorrow, I need to see you. I know I messed up, I need help. My bunny? I canâtâŚoh god, I canât do this. I-I feel like Iâm dying, IâmâŚI love you. I love you, I love you, just please-â
Your heart drops to your churning stomach as Chosoâs words morph into broken, unintelligible sobs. Finally after a few seconds, the other end goes quiet and the voicemail ends. A recorded voice tells you thereâs still 14 more previously skipped voicemails; Choso has remained standing, stiff as a board and looking miserably at you. You take a seat on the side of your bed, staring bewildered at your phone; you decide to not listen to the other voicemails.
âIâm sorry.â Choso says in an absurdly small voice. âCan we talk?â
Youâre holding the coffee in your hands on your lap and taking a deep breath before raising your face. âChoso, why did you do it?â
âI didnât do it to hurt you. I donât think your baking is stupid. I was being stupid.â Chosoâs cheeks burn in shame. âI was jealous Gojo was getting the cake first, or I thought he was, and I justâŚI didnât want him to have it. Itâs always like this.â
âWhat do you mean?â you ask him slowly, tempering your own indignation. âDo you think he would flirt with me? Or that I would cheat on you?â
âNo. I just get so...everyone likes you. So, what if someone better comes along? What if you stop paying attention to me?â Choso shakes his head quickly, gripping his hair like he wants to yank it out. âI have thoughts like that all the time. It's awful. I knew you would be sad, but I really thought it would only be a little and then I could make it better and you wouldâŚrely on me more. I donât want you to get close to anyone else.â he lowers his arm to his side limply. âI know itâs wrong. Are you gonna bre-break up with me?â
You donât speak just yet; your eyes study his drawn, exhausted face. Choso isnât trying to make you feel bad for him, you know that much. The truth doesnât make you feel much better though.Â
âI was really mad at you yesterday. I needed space.â
âI know, but-â
âListen,â you say firmly. âWhatever the reason, that was a really rotten thing you did. It was just plain mean and selfish. Sure, you didnât really mean to hurt me, but you did. You purposely messed up something I put a lot of work into.â
âI know.â Chosoâs expression is desolate. âI like that about you. I love that you do nice things for people even if you donât have to. Y-youâre so careful and considerate of other people. I was being selfish and it was so, so fucking stupid. You would never do something like that to meâŚyouâre so good to me.â
âChoso, this isnât just about yesterday.â you soften your tone, mindful of your volume. Choso looks as if one cold word from you could shatter him into a million pieces. âIf you were willing to trash something I put a lot of work into for such a petty reason, itâs making me second guess things and now Iâm wondering if maybe youâre not the person I thought you were. Is it more important to keep me dependent on you than for me to be happy?â You set your cup down on the nightstand, trying to keep your voice from cracking. âMaybe this isnât going to work out.â
âDonât say that.âÂ
Choso all but drops his coffee onto your dresser, barely glancing at it as he rushes to you; he lowers himself down on his knees, eyes glistening with both unshed tears and sheer adoration as he looks up at your pained face. You let him hold your hands, still folded in your lap, as Choso rests his forehead on your lap. Theyâre ice cold; how long had he been waiting outside?
âItâll never happen again. It shouldnât have happened at all. I know I could have just talked to you, I know you would have listened, but I didnât even give you a chance, I just did what I wanted. Iâm not nearly as kind as you.â Choso admits, words muffled as he buries his face into your thighs. âI donât deserve you, but I need you. Iâll do whatever you say until you trust me again. Do you hate me?â
âChoso, I never hated you, I was just hurt.â you squeeze his hands gently. âThe only reason I got so upset in the first place is because I love you so much. Hell, the cake for the party was more practice than anything so I could make you an even better cake. If you were worried, you should have just told me. Youâre not some evil person from feeling jealous, but what you did was wrong. I really need to know that you understand where Iâm coming from, I donât want us to break up or anything. Did you really think I was trying to end things yesterday?â
Choso nods, head still resting on your thighs. âI thought you blocked me on everything. I thou-thought you didnât ever want to see me again. I should have waited, Eso even said you probably just needed some space, butâŚIâm so used to being with you, texting you. I was going crazy.â
âIâm sorry, I wasnât trying to ghost you. And Iâm sorry for calling you a jerk.â
âI am a jerk.â
âNo, you acted like a jerk,â you nudge Chosoâs shoulder to get him to look up; he does, taking in your face with those pleading puppy dog eyes you can never resist. âI forgive you. I love you baby, so, so much.â
âBunny,â Chosoâs lip wobbles and fat tears roll down his cheeks and chin, dripping onto your hands. âThank you. Iâm sorry I made you cry, just thinking about it makes me want to-to-â he sniffs and clenches his teeth against a whine. âIâm just sorry. I love you. I missed you so much. I couldnât sleep knowing you were hurting because of me and I wanted to come here right away, but I thought if I did youâd really be fed up and-â
âYou didnât sleep?!â you slowly sit and move so youâre seated further up the bed; Choso follows suit, basically crawling over your pillows and covers to be next to you, tears still streaming down either side of his face. âChoso, lay down baby, you should take a nap. Youâll feel better, believe me. We can talk more later and get something to eat.â
ââSo good to me.â Choso tugs on your arm. âI want to cuddle.â He immediately moves over so you can hold him, laying on your sides as Choso stares balefully up at you through blurry eyes. âCan I have a kiss?â
âChoso, you need sleep.â
âPlease?â he mutters, eyes lingering on your pouty mouth. âNeed a kiss.â
âOkay, just a little one.â
âThank you. Youâre always so good to meâŚâ
You knew those basset hound eyes would be the death of you: what started out as a tender, chaste kiss swiftly evolved into big hands massaging your breasts, then fingers tugging at the sash of your robe, and finally you being pushed onto your back as Choso holds you down in a mating press.Â
âSo good!â Choso canât stop letting out choked moans, so loud, they almost drown out your cries, pushing your thighs closer to your chest, somehow, some way forcing his cock impossibly deep. Thereâs hints of pain but the pleasure you get from his cock head rubbing against that little spot just behind your clit was overriding all of it.Â
âBaby, gotta slow down, youâll break me at this rate.â you moan, helpless as Choso ducks his head down to lick and suck on your almost painfully sensitive nipples. He had been playing with them obsessively, pinching, rolling, sucking, even leaving dark love bites all over your breast.
âLove you, missed your pussy so much, thought I was gonna, gonna die!â
âOh god, Choso, please, please baby, itâs too much!â your head lolls side to side; heâs made you cum three times already. Your pussy is a sopping wet mess and itâs all you can do to not pass out as Chosoâs thick cock stretches you open over and over again, surely bruising your cervix. âYouâre so-ah!â you let out a piercing shriek that only seems to spur him on to go harder. âSo deep in my pussy baby, I canât-â
âJust a little more, Iâm so close,â Choso huffs, looking down at you with heavy lidded eyes, cheeks burning and hair sticking to his forehead; heâs a mess from his own sweat and your slick covering his pelvis where he just wonât stop pounding into you. âYou look so good like this, I could fuck you foreverâŚgonna cum so hard, give it all to you,â
âCum in me,â you sweep his damp hair off his forehead with a faint, fucked out smile. âI want to feel it dripping out of meâŚcan you be a good boy and cum in my pussy?â
âYes, yes! Oh fuck, yes!â
Choso kisses you roughly, hips rolling into yours, barely pulling his cock out at all, as though he wanted his cum to go as deep inside you as it could go. Itâs hot and spurting into your battered insides; thankfully Choso has enough strength left to hold you up as he humps your plush, limp body like a dog in heat.Â
âMine,â he groans, thrusting once more with a violent shudder. âOnly mine.â
You suppose itâs not the best idea to encourage him, but you nod anyway, shaky hand in his hair to pet the tangled strands, chest heaving and light headed as Choso pulls his softening cock out slowly so as not to hurt you. He pants against your neck, curled into your side and using his wide palm to rub gentle circles over your hips and thighs.
âMy poor bunny.â Choso mutters fondly as his fingers trail over your twitching thighs. âIâll do better. You wonât regret this. Iâm gonna get a bath ready for you, okay?â
âTh-thank you.â
âSh, just relax, donât get up.â Choso moves sluggishly to take the box of tissues from your nightstand; the coffee he brought you has somehow not been knocked off in the frenzy. âYouâre so cute like this. Iâll wipe you off a bit first, nice and easy. Does it hurt down there?â
âNot really; feels more numb actually.â you roll your head to stare at him directly, meaning to look at least a little serious but you come off more like a grumpy kitten. âDonât think just because you made me almost pass out that I forgot everything from the past 24 hours mister. Iâm holding you to your word.â
âYes maâam.â Choso agrees with a hum as he wipes at the mess between your legs. âThank you againâŚI still ate the cake you made for me. It was really good.â
âOh right.â
âYuji said you should have thrown it in my face.â Choso adds, a bit sheepish at the memory. âI almost didnât eat it: I thought it would be the last thing you ever gave meâŚâ
âChoso,â you smile at him sadly. âI love you. You know that, right?â
âYeah.â
âDo you?â
âUh huh.â Choso brings you into his arms, careful not to jostle you too suddenly. âJust scared. Iâve never felt this way before.â
âNever?â
âNo.â
âWhy are you scared? Do you still think I want to break up?â
Choso shrugs. âWhat if the more you get to know me, the more you see bad things?â
âWhat kind of bad things?â
âIfâŚif I could, Iâd keep you with me. Sometimes when weâre alone, I donât want to let you go. Then I start wondering if trying to keep you safe will just make you unhappy with me or that Iâll scare you off and thenâŚâ A single tear escapes Chosoâs eye and he draws you in closer to his chest. âI donât know what Iâd do. Compared to you, Iâm really selfish and short sighted.â
âNo oneâs perfect. Iâm not.â
âYou're just saying that to make me feel better.â
âI overthink things and get worked up over upsetting people. I hold myself to unattainable standards.â you list off tiredly. âAnd I keep doing this thing where I shy away from letting people reallyâŚknow me. Like if they do, Iâll just let them down. I feel like an imposter half the time when you say all these nice things about me. Youâre the first person Iâve actually wanted to know me, warts and all. Itâs worth getting to be with someone like you, Choso. Thatâs just how relationships work; youâre always risking getting hurt or disappointed when you let people love youâŚwhen you love someone. And I love you.â
âUmâŚis it bad that I feel happy Iâm the only person you talk to like this?â Choso sniffles. âSorry. Iâm being selfish again.â
âMaybe a little, but for the right reasons.â you grin and wipe a thumb under his eye. âFor the record, it makes me happy you think of me so highly. You make me feel special.â
âYou are special and anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid.â
âDoes that include me then?â
Choso looks visibly panicked. âWa-wait, thatâs not what I meant!â
âI know, I know, sorry baby.â you kiss him before he starts into another round of apologies. âThat was just a little payback. Ah, Choso!â
âNot funny.â Choso grumbles, bundling you into the blankets as you giggle and let out a faux fearful squeal; the sly quirk of his lips betrays his actual intentions. âAfter your bath, Iâm gonna give you a real reason to scream.â

pseudo/faux - brother & sister ((toru-nii?)) ??? -oikawa x chubby reader HEAR ME OUT GUYS TORU WOULD HAVE THESE PERVERTED FEELINGS ABOUT SOMEONE WHO GREW UP TOGETHER LIKE SIBLINGS !!! (i've been thinking about this for the last couple days so i had to write it but go easy on me, first time writing this concept.) (there's probably mistakes in this, i wrote it before bed, i'm sleepy, sdfgchjvs)<3 (dark content)(MDNI -18+)(always check the warnings on my writing)
you're the younger sister of hajime by a year and you've been close since you were kids, you were his number one supporter. even though you were a year apart you spent a lot time together because you didn't have many friends you had joined the volleyball team as the manager so you could spend more time with him.
because of hajime it meant that you grew up surrounded by toru as well. you were so close you even called him toru-nii, he was like family, an older brother like hajime but toru didn't see you like that, not anymore...
once he had been your protector from bullies and your tutor to help you pass difficult classes you didn't understand but that was a long time ago now, you're not kids anymore.
in your eyes he's still your toru-nii, just like hajime is your nii-san. people say you need to stop calling them such childish nicknames now that you're in your adulthood but you ignore them, it doesn't sound right coming out of your mouth when you call them their names.
toru doesn't know when his feelings started to change towards you, he doesn't know when his innocent feelings became warped, when he started to feel guilty. all he knows is just one day you came running up to him wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him, your soft body pressing against him, you hadn't seen each other in weeks since you've both been so busy and barely had any contact at all through texts. oikawa hugged your back just as tightly that day.
all he knows is that day something changed within him, he wanted to hug you all the time, wanted you on your lap. he wanted you to go to every single game of his and wear his oversized jersey, imaging how it would cling to your round frame. he wanted to kiss your chubby cheeks and take you to fancy restaurants. he wants you.
it became a problem that day, you grabbing his hand to take him where you want to go while you call his toru-nii, that should have stopped his feelings in his tracks but it didn't- he got hard. that was the thing that made him guilty, you referring to him as toru-nii made him aroused. he wanted you to call him it again, straight after.
an innocent nickname turned into something more.
to you nothing changed though, you didn't ever think of him differently. you knew girls fawned over him and objectively you understand why but it's weird for you to think about for too long. back at school some of your classmates would say how jealous they are of you because you get to spend so much time with oikawa and you agreed that you were lucky to spend time with him, just for completely different reasons.
what toru didn't realise is his feelings towards you weren't something that he was suppose to feel even when you were both younger. he excused it as an big brother being protective just like iwa is but it wasn't the same. it's not normal to disguise subtle threats with a smile whenever someone got a bit to close up and personal with you asking for your number, he wouldn't want them to hurt your feelings. it's not normal for him to offhandedly make a comment in front of a large group of people about someone who upset you, if a rumour gets spread around school about that person then so well. he did this all platonically of course... hajime would have done exactly the same... right?
so was it really a surprise that late at night he couldn't help himself but stroke his cock, bucking his hips up to meet his hand. wet sounds echo around the room and toru lightly applies more pressure when his hand hits the base of his pelvis. his other hand holds onto his sheet tightly as he groans and moans picturing you there with him.
he starts talking like you're there with him, imagining you bouncing on his cock and your plump figure laying underneath him. stomach rolls squished together when when he's pushed your legs up against your chest and body jiggling with each thrust.
"feels so good baby, you make me feel so good. i know- ffuck- i know i'm big baby but you can take it, can't you. let toru-nii look after you." as soon as he says 'let toru-nii look after you' he cums with a moan of your name.
with every single night that passes he feels less guilty. this weekend you're planning to stay at his for a few days instead of getting a hotel. oikawa knows his walls aren't very thick. 'maybe she'll decide to help her poor toru-nii out. maybe she loves her toru-nii like i love her.'

SOMETHING PATIENT !!! LEWIS H. X FEM!READER (18+)
summary: 945 days after, lewis learned to show his wife that she really was the winner.
content warning: smut under the cut (minors dni!), explicit language, british grand prix 2024 spoilers, a little angsty, mercedes to ferrari news, wife!reader (lady hamilton), soft sex, squirting, p in v, oral (f!receiving), body worship-esque, praise kink, hint of breeding kink if you squint, overstimulation, sloppy and short writing tbh.
note: it's sloppy but enjoy regardless xx
something sinful (smut) masterlist
a - n masterlist // o - z masterlist
if youâd like to get on one of my taglists, check this post out
945 days. within those 945 days lewis hamilton was in deep denial and grief for his successes in the track.
he wondered where heâd gone wrong, why the team hadnât done anything to help him get back up there, what he could do next.Â
lewis thought of it. in the span of 945 days, lewis made big decisions. he was moving to ferrari in 2025 because nobody valued him enough in mercedes - because he was still seeking for that eighth championship and all they thought about was that he was a lost cause. or at least some people said that his days were over.Â
but he knew himself well enough. he was self-assured enough to get back up there.
at least now he knew that the car was fixed. he knew it wasnât a 'him' thing - it was a car and team thing. he knew it all along, because lady hamilton always told him that.
ah, lady hamilton.
his lovely wife of two years - one who saw him in his ups and downs. but throughout their marriage, what she saw were usually his downs. there were a lot of âwouldâve, couldâve, shouldâveâ that she witnessed, sometimes arguing with lewis about beating himself up for something he lacked: success.Â
but lewis knew that rome wasnât built in a day. his wife made sure he knew that.Â
now, as he stood on top of the podium with the union jack hanging over his shoulders, lewis found himself thinking through âgod save the king.â
945 days. a hint of a race win finally came through after 945 days of losing streak and consistent podium finishes without the win.
lewis was the race winner of his home circuit. this was his last race win in his home circuit as a driver from mercedes.
he glanced down beneath the stage, seeing his father, mother and siblings as they celebrated him. but there was really one person that he looked at.
his wife, who was dressed impeccably with the mercedes hat on her head. she had a wide smile on her face, her eyes gleaming in happiness after seeing lewis so emotional. she always loved it when he was emotional in a positive way.Â
lewis recalled the days when he made things difficult for her. in those days, she made sure to rid him of those negative feelings too. no questions asked, only helping him through and chatting him out of his bad days.Â
945 days of which had mishaps and misunderstandings. 945 days of his falling for her despite his efforts to drive her away. 945 days of patience.Â
she was the true winner of all of this even if lewis stood on top of the podium in silverstone circuit.
so how she found herself being worshipped like a goddess, lady hamilton wasnât sure.
lewis was just all over her and that was it, the tip of his nose briefly touching the sensitive bundle that made her jolt and writhe.Â
her hands clutched the sheets beneath her.Â
her hips begged to move against lewisâ insistent tattooed hands as he held them down and ate her like she was his last supper. the moans that escaped her mouth sounded like a hymn sung by a one woman choir.Â
she was a walking- no- she was a writhing woman who felt more like a divine figure. one that no one knew about but lewis. one that he believed in throughout those 945 days of asking himself, âwhat if it isnât my time?â
âoh my god,â she whimpered softly, ângh~ lew~â
âi know, darling,â lewis murmured as he lapped on her, his tongue prodding her entrance. âyou want to cum, i know. let me have you first, yea? you taste so fucking good to not devour.âÂ
his words turned her into a putty. or simply just a liquid that drenched the entire bed.
just as she thought she couldnât get any more wetter than this, lewis broke the dam down and allowed her to cum all over and taste the trickling liquid that escaped her cunt.Â
lewis let out a guttural groan, âfuck, darling. keep cumminâ fâme.â he couldnât help his fingers, slotting their way through her throbbing walls and prod another orgasm into her.Â
she cried out loudly, âfuck!â lewisâ fingers kept moving and coaxing another release from her, her senses being tortured by his sweet love and overstimulation.Â
this went on for a couple of minutes, lewisâ eyes darkening in desire and admiration as he watched his wife shake and convulse beneath him. her eyes glistened in haze and tears, no words left in her mouth as her body attempted to descend from the high.
but lewis wasnât finished loving her yet. he wasnât done showing his gratitude. he wasnât done showing her how much she deserved his praises, his respect, his admiration for her patience.Â
the briton earned a squeak when he grabbed her hips and tugged her close, precum leaking out of his painfully stiff cock and prodding its way into her drenched pussy.Â
âoh,â she let out softly, attempting to embrace process everything as she hummed, âmmâŚâÂ
âyouâre so good fâme, my sweet darling wife,â lewis murmured softly as he leaned over to press a kiss on her forehead. âmy beautiful wife. ever the patient one. always saw me at my worst.â
âmmfh- fuck,â she gasped when lewisâ girth and length filled her empty hole languidly, âyes⌠oh⌠god- fuck yes.â
âyouâre so fucking good to me- ugh-â lewis let out a loud grunt, bottoming out inside of her and repeatedly hitting that one spot in the same angle. âalways tight and eager for me.â
âonly for you,â she whimpered in pleasure, her hands slotting their ways around him with her nails scratching his tattooed back.Â
her heels dug into his ass, pulling him closer as if lewis hadnât filled her up enough to rearrange her insides.Â
âyeah?â lewis grunted softly, growling and nipping her neck. âyou like that donât you? you like being good to me?â his thrusts began to roughen and increase their pace as lewis fulfilled his needs to fill his wife up.Â
ângh~â
âiâm gonna fuck you like you deserve it, darling,â lewis crooned softly, his lips attached to hers and tongue tangled with hers.Â
her moans travelled from her mouth to his, lewis devouring every single whimper and noise she let out.Â
âgonna fuck you until youâre full of me,â lewis said as he gasped quietly and placed a palm on her bare stomach, ââtil youâre full of my baby. youâre gonna be even more beautiful when youâre round. fuck- darling-âÂ
if there was anything that both of them learned throughout those 945 days, it was that they kept their promises.Â
she promised to lewis that she would be there no matter the storm that came his way. now, he promised her a life that she wanted. it was only fair lewis returned the favour.
especially when his wife was there from the very beginning.

The Stray and The Snakes
Cassian x Reader
Synopsis: Your adjustment to the Night Court after meeting your Mate is made all the more difficult due to the unwelcoming nature of two particular sisters.
Orignal request: "Okay, so I have a request. Reader is mates with Cassian, and Nesta is like jealous or something. Nesta and Elain are horrible to the reader, like always putting her down. Reader tries not to let it bother her, and no one really notices until it finally does get to them and the inner circle does notice."
Warnings: Fluff, Nesta and Elain being meanies
A/N: Hehe my first Cassian request. This was a lot of fun to write, I hope people will forgive the Inner Circle for their blindness, Nesta and Elain are a real piece of work in this.
Let me know what you think!
p.s thank you for the love on Other Worlds, over a thousand of you have interacted with it, can't believe it!
---------------------------------------------------
âItâs beautiful YNâÂ
âDo you think?â your hands traced down the front of the snowy dress, your head tilting to the side as you watched your own movement in the mirror. Feyre sat behind you on a blush-coloured pouffe, sweetly smiling in the reflection.Â
âDo you think Cass will like it?â âWho cares what that big baby would like, do you like it YN?â your head tilted to the otherside before you span to face your fast-friend.
âI want him to like itâ you admitted softly, Feyre unable to keep the roll away from her eyes as she stood, pulling your hands in hers.Â
âYou could walk into Starfall in a paper bag and your mate would love you in it. So, Iâll ask you again, do you like it?â a smile grew across your face to match Feyres as you nodded.Â
âGreat! Letâs wrap it up and head to the House of WindâÂ
The both of you strolled across the city you had learned to call home, a far cry from the outskirts of the Autumn Court where you were born and raised. It had been six months since Cassian had rocketed into your world and changed it forever, meeting you while you worked as a cook in a grand house. The preparations for Starfall had sent the city into an excited frenzy and you couldnât wait to experience it for the first time with your new family.Â
âFeyre! There you areâ Nestaâs voice sang out of her in excitement but it felt as though the tone was a snake heading for your feet. She looped her arm through her sisterâs as the both of you entered into the House of Wind, pulling her away from your side, to walk ahead of you.Â
âWhere were you sister, Elain and I are just getting ready upstairsâ
âI was helping YN find something to wear for tonight for her to feel beautiful-â â-as if you could find anything that would help thatâ she laughed out, the snake climbed its way around you further. Feyre rolled her eyes with a small laugh, brushing off her sister's words as you fought your faltering smile.
âShe found a lovely dress, didnât you YN?â She called back to you as the three of you entered the main living area of the house.
âYe-â â-Feyre! How could I forget to tell you, I found the perfect shoes for tonight, come on Iâll showâ you huffed out slightly, familiar with Nesta cutting across you. Nesta spun on her heels to face you, causing you to almost walk directly into her with the abrupt stop of movement.
âSomething the matter YN?â she almost bit out, the snake of words wrapping around your throat. Feyre had crossed the floor towards her own mate who beamed at her.
âN-no NestaâÂ
âI didnât think so, go make yourself useful, go help the other staff, back to your true callingâ whispering at the end so only you could hear.Â
âI-â â-My love, there you are!â Cassian's voice pulled the imaginary snake from around your airways, returning lightness to your chest as he met your side, his arm wrapping around from behind. Nestaâs face softened and a smile you knew to be laced with simmering irritation crossed her face.
âYou're so kind YN for offeringâ Your eyes snapped from your shoes back to Nesta.
âOffering what?â Cassian kissed your cheek gently, his hand moving from your waist to lace with your fingers.
âWell, your lovely stray has offered to help with the setup of dining room! Right YN?â Her sickly sweet words turned in your stomach as Elain joined her side to collect her sisters and return to getting ready for the party.
âOh, really YN you don't have toâ
âI-â
âCass, let her help, she probably craves the familiarity of a dirty apronâ Poison-coated words dripped from Elain but shielded behind a smile. You looked to your mate standing behind you, his genuine well-meaning grin warming you despite the cold environment Nesta and Elainsâ presence had swaddled you in. You were finding settling in around the two sisters especially difficult, your arrival had halted the friends-with-benefits situation between Cassian and Nesta and this had led to some deep-rooted resentment from the latter. Elain joining the cause in some sort of sick solidarity with her sister.Â
That had decided your plans, afraid to contradict Nesta, with the mentality of service in the Autumn Court of being seen and not heard, very difficult to unravel yourself from.Â
-
By the time you had finished setting up, the inner circle had finished readying themselves. You met Cassian on the stairs as you rushed to get yourself ready.
âMy love, are you alright?â His hands cupped around your face as his lips pecked your forehead with the utmost of tenderness.
âYes Cass, just finished with the table, you look so handsomeâ You held his wrists as his thumbs brushed across your cheeks.Â
âThank you! I can't wait to see your dressâŚand see it again on our bedroom floor laterâ he laughed as you rolled your eyes at him. He kissed your forehead again before releasing your face with softness, his brothers appearing on the landing behind him, guests beginning to arrive. You marvelled at the three Illyrians before rushing yourself up the stairs to change.Â
By the time you had built up the courage to leave your bedroom, the party was in full swing. Fae seemed to flow from every corner of the bustling House as you found Feyre glowing alongside her mate on the outskirts of the courtyard where the festivities were bursting to life.Â
âYN, you look dazzlingâ
âThank you High Lordâ You did a small curtsey and Feyre elbowed Rhysand cutting off his building laugh.Â
âYN how many times have I to tell you, please call me Rhysâ he offered you his hand to help you rise from your curtsey as your cheeks flushed.
âShe can't help that she's built to serveâ The two mates laughed at Nesta's joking tone from behind you, its undertone of sincerity not lost on you.Â
âNesta you lo-look lovelyâ you offered like so many white flags you had beforehand.Â
âAnd you look clean for onceâ
âNestaâ Feyre laughed out a half warning, carrying no weight. The group had chosen to believe that Nesta's relentless snipping at you was more like she was hazing you instead of its true goal to wear you down.Â
âI-I must find Cass, the migration starts soonâ You bowed your head slightly to the three, out of sheer habit, gaining a snide laugh to leave the eldest Archeron sister.Â
âOh he went down the side corridorâ Elain offered with a smile that didn't meet her eyes as she joined her sister's side. You gave a somewhat thankful smile and began to make your way in the direction she sent you. You felt suddenly pairs of hands collide with your side, pushing you with harsh force into a service pantry of the hallway, the door closing behind you.
Your hip met the tile floor of the cupboard with force, your arms instinctively going outwards to the shelves lining the walls, sending various cooking powders and syrups down on top of you. You gave a small shriek in pain and shock as the sound of two laughing females on the other side of the door spat venom in your ears.Â
âHey! Hey you guys let-let me out!â You pushed shakingly from the floor, palms splaying against the solid wood of the locked door. The laughing grew distant until dissolving completely and you found yourself sitting back down on the cold, food-covered floor. You fought back tears as you tried to swipe the savoury and sweet additions to your dress from the fabric, the dark of the room holding you close.Â
âYNN!â You heard your mate's voice call out through the hall, giving you the strength to call back, trying to keep the shake from your voice.Â
âYNN! What the fuck?!â The light flooded the small space, Cassian's eyes landing on his beautiful mate, sat in a ball at his feet. He dropped down to his knees, beginning to sweep away the floury coating.
âI-I-â The thoughts of the truth ran around your mind, would he even believe you if you told him? Did you want to risk finding out if he'd choose them over you? Or what if he did believe you and it ruined the family dynamic you knew he had spent his whole life craving? â-IâŚwas looking for the bathroomâ you offered as he stood, pulling you back up to your feet.Â
âThe bathroom?â He raised an eyebrow at your obvious lie, a faux smile painting across your face. You looked down at your destroyed dress, the tears once again threatening to add to the scene.Â
âYou-you look beautiful YNNâ his eyes traced the stained fabric, a thumb brushing over the last remaining flecks of flour on your face.Â
âI'm covered in food Cassâ Your genuine smile returned.
âJust makes you even more deliciousâ he kissed wholly then, the taste of him took any bitterness from you.Â
âCâmon, let's get you changedâ he separated from you, his hand slotting into yours as you both traipsed back up the hallway.Â
To get to your chambers, the main foyer had to first be transversed, the inner circle gathering there before going out to enjoy the spectacle in the sky together. You stepped slightly behind Cassian as you walked closer to the stairway, hoping to be able to sneak past the group.
âAh Ah, you guys! We all promised we would watch this Starfall together, you can have sex after!â Mor laughed from behind you, your feet having only spent a moment on the bottom step. You reluctantly turned back to face the full group, Cassian instinctively standing to shield you from their eyes.
âYN and I will just be a momentâ
âYeah, I heard that's all you can lastâ Azriel laughed, the group following suit as Cassian shot his brother a playful death stare. Nesta sauntered over to the two of you, her hand landing gently on Cassian's shoulder, pushing him to the side, revealing the full picture of your ruined look.
âYN, what happened!?â Feyre looked you over, a bruise beginning to grow across your elbow.
âI-â
âIt's obvious our little YN couldn't help but get involved in the kitchenâ Nesta remarked, turning back on her heels, happy to watch the gawking take place.Â
âI think it improves her outfitâ
âDefinitely Elain, anything would improve that tarp she's wearingâ the two snickered, the group unsure of the sharp tones of the two sisters, too shocked at the brashness of the females.Â
âThat's not very kind of you twoâ Cassian felt himself bite out, the maroon now painting across your face as Cassian's hand held yours tighter.
âOh Cass please, how could we ever match your level of charity, taking in such a lost causeâ the group's heads snapped to the uncharacteristic bitterness dripping from Elain.
âI mean honestly Cassian, when are you going to wake up and realise she's never going to fit in here!â Nesta's sharp words gave life to the internal doubt you fought daily and you couldn't hold it back anymore, your tears flowed freely, having spent months being kept just below the surface. You dropped your mate's hand, catching the end of your long ruined gown and darting up the stairs in awash of pure heartbreak. You heard the beginning of Feyre and Rhysand reprimanding the sisters, with Mor and Azriel joining in, the agile footsteps of your mate echoing behind you.Â
You crashed into your shared bedroom, wrenching the hair clips from your hair before running your hands across your tear-soaked cheeks. You had practically prised the stained fabric from your skin as your mate's knuckles rapped against the door.Â
âYN let me inâ You ignored his desperate tones, choosing to clothe yourself in trousers and a loose top before beginning to collect your things from around the room. The sound of Cassian's hammering had stopped along with his calling. You exhaled deeply before continuing to pack up your space.Â
âYN!â You screamed with fright at the sight of Cassian closing the distance between you both, having landed on your balcony. He pulled the bundle of clothing you had grasped in your hands, tossing them aside before gripping your upper arms with a gentle firmness.Â
âMy love, please please stopâ
âYou heard them! I don't belong here, they're only saying what you're all too cowardly to admit!â You managed between falling tears, Cassian's heart beginning to shatter in his eyes at the sight.Â
âYNN, you know it's biologically impossible for an Illyrian to be a cowardâ You felt a slight laugh leave you at his joking tone. His hands moved from your arms to wrap around you, pulling you flush with his chest where you could clearly hear his trembling heart beneath his midnight blue suit.Â
âNo one thinks what they said is true my love, they must have eaten something poisonous or somethingâ You pulled back to look at your mate in his hazel eyes, it was clear to you from his words that he had not been aware of their historical treatment of you.Â
âCass-Cass they always say stuff like thatâ you managed to rattle out. You could see the rose-tinted glasses shattered in front of his eyes beneath his furrowed brow, reevaluating every interaction he'd seen between you and them before tonight.
âGodsâŚâ he released you from his arms, standing back to run his hands down his face in disbelief at his blindness.Â
âYN, I am sorry, I'm so so sorry for not seeing before, what kind of mate am I for being so fucking blindâ You step back towards him, relief rushing through you that he had believed you.Â
âOne who believes the best in peopleâ your hand ran down his cheek.
âI never thought I'd miss something like thatâ
âIt's okay Cass, I'm sure you never thought they could be like thatâ
âNo, it's not okay, it's not okay at allâ his eyes darting across your face, the true reality he'd not been privy to before making him feel instantly ill.
âCass, I love you, it's okayâ
âIt's not okay YN!â His raised voice surprised you slightly as he moved towards the bedroom door again.
âCass, where are you going?â
âTo defend you, I'm just sorry I didn't do it earlier, they will be sorry for thisâ His unfamiliar coldness stunned you almost as much as the sudden sparkling out of the corner of your eye. You looked to see the migration decorate the sky with a level of beauty you had never seen before.Â
âCassâŚplease stay with me for this, I want to experience this with youâ You manage to tear your gaze away from the view to land back on Cassian as he seemingly reluctantly removed his hand from the doorknob.
âOf courseâ he said with an almost sad smile, reaching for your hand to bring you to the balcony. You both looked up in comfortable silence at the glimmering skyscape, a genuine smile growing on your face. Cassian couldn't help but look down at you with pure unadulterated love, his annoyance that he didn't see the torment you had been under sooner.Â
âYouâre my everything, my loveâÂ
âAnd you're mineâ You leaned into his side.
âIf there's anything left of those two downstairs by the time Feyre is done, I promise I'll make them understand their grave error in hurting youâÂ
âI don't expect much to be leftâ you laughed, the sound releasing pressure from Cassian's chest. You both stood on the balcony marveling at the glorious sight above you, unable to image being anywhere else with anyone else.
