Almost kiss (May 13th)
word count: 707
@wolfstarmicrofic
Sirius is so angry he’s going to explode. He wants to break something but he’s sitting on his bed and there’s nothing to break. “What do you mean?”
Sirius can tell that Remus is also angry. His skin is blotchy and he’s pacing around their dorm room. “I mean, there is so way in hell I’m going to risk any of you getting hurt.”
“But there is no risk!” Sirius wants to hold Remus by the shoulders and shake some sense into him. “Why won’t you let us help you?”
“Because you don’t know that there is no risk!” Remus screams. “Who decided that an animagus is werewolf bite immune, again?”
“Mcgonagall said–”
“Everything McGonagall said is theoretical. And I’m sure she'd agree with me if she knew why you were asking her in the first place. There is no real-life proof or evidence or–”
“Remus, listen to me,” Sirius says, trying to keep his voice level. He stands up and crowds Remus’ personal space because he wants Remus to listen to him. He puts his hand on Remus’ shoulder, and Remus holds his gaze. “Animals can’t be werewolves. It’s safe. Lycanthropy only affects humans and how lucky are we? That’s–”
“Don’t patronize me!”
“I’m not,” Sirius says. He tries again, “I’m sorry. Remus, we want to do this for you.”
Remus lets out a shaky breath. “Sirius, I truly appreciate it. I know I’m being harsh but this is the nicest thing someone’s ever done to me, and I love you all so much. It’s incredible. I can’t even express how grateful I am that you thought of something like this.”
Sirius shakes his head. He thinks it’s because they’re standing so close but he can’t scream anymore no matter how much he wants to. Instead, he whispers, “Don’t talk like that. This isn’t a favor.”
“I won’t hurt you.”
“You could never hurt us.”
“I would never forgive myself if–”
“We’d be safe, Re. We’d be helping you.”
“Sirius, you’re not hearing what I’m saying.”
Except Sirius is hearing what Remus is saying, he just doesn’t like it. Sirius wants to enter Remus’ brain and poke around until he makes him see sense. More than anything, Sirius wants to make the most horrible thing Remus has to go through incredibly too often suck less, because no one in the world deserves to endure horrible transformations on full moons, but especially not Remus.
Sirius wants to say all of this, and he looks Remus in the eye and opens his mouth to do just that, but nothing comes out. Because Remus is looking at him all heartbroken and somehow hopeful at the same time and Sirius has never seen anything more breathtaking in his life. He doesn’t know what’s come over him and he swears he’s still angry and furious but Sirius feels like he’d implode if he doesn’t kiss Remus this fucking instant. And, oh, that is a thought.
Sirius is too angry to care, and he’ll scream some more after the fact, so he leans the tiniest bit closer and it may be his mind fucking him over but he swears Remus does the same, and they’re breathing in the same air and–
“This took us forever to find but– oh.”
Sirius jumps. He turns around and sees James and Peter standing in front of him. James is grinning and Peter is holding an enormous ancient-looking book.
“If I knew that making out with Remus was all that it took to make him change his mind I would’ve done it myself.”
“That’s not–”
“James! You–”
“It’s safe!” Peter says, cutting Remus and Sirius off and hitting Sirius’ chest with the book. Sirius yanks the book from Peter’s grip. “Look at the bookmarked pages.”
Remus is blushing when he takes the book from Sirius the very next second. Sirius thinks he’s blushing as well. “You shouldn’t dog ear library books, Peter, ”Remus mumbles as he starts flipping through.
Sirius chances a look at James and he immediately looks away because he can’t handle that much self-satisfaction right now. Only then does Sirius realize that it’s safe. He looks at James again and grins.
This is Sirius’ most favorite day, for more reason than one.
#I'm screaming at you because I love you and want to help you never be in pain again why won't you listen to me#Uhm actually maybe we should kiss :)#Sirius' internal monologues are always so so fun I love that guy#I'm on a microfic streak! Fic Finder
~*~
1. Welcome back, I know you're just back but I'm really searching for this threadfic for literal days. So, the plot was Wei Wuxian was some deity and Lan Wangji asked him for something (probably defeating Wens) and Wei Wuxian asked for Lan Wangji's firstborn in return. So, after Wei Wuxian fulfilled his deal, Lan Wangji took him to his tent and slept with him and when Wei Wuxian got pregnant, he left.
Then Lan Wangji went to his shrine and kept giving him pregnancy related things in offerings and removed any alcohol he got. Soon Wei Wuxian got irritated and confronted him and later came back with Lan Wangji to Gusu. Later, he gave birth to Lan Yuan. Please please help me find it. It was really so good but I forgot to bookmark it 😭😭 ~ @wei-aixia

2. Welcome back!!! I didn’t realize how much I used your page until you were gone. I hope you had a great break. Can I ask for fic finder help? I’ve been looking for months now and at this point I think I’m crazy.
Someone is trying to kill jin ling so everyone is trying to figure out and protect him. Spoiler alert, it ends up being a woman and she has a voodoo doll of Jin ling, but wei ying switched the hair or something to her brother so she kills him instead. That’s all I can remember, I hope you or somebody knows this fic. Thanks!!!

3. Welcome back! There’s this fic I’ve been trying to find for the past few days and it’s been killing me 😭 Features wwx raising a-yuan in lotus pier, imprisoned and he can’t speak. Don’t think anyone outside of lotus pier knew he was still alive after the siege. Eventually, he gets a-yuan out who escapes to gusu and joins him later on as well, 99% sure it’s complete too.

4. Hi! Your blog has always helped me discover awesome fics and find new favorites, and though ive been looking for this one fic for a while ive never thought to ask until just now!! So if your fic finder series is still open... Im looking for a fic where wwx met lwj when he was dead as a spirit or something and they get to know each other better. Lwj confesses that he likes/wanted to kiss wwx?? and then when wwx reincarnates as mxy, he kisses lwj in front of the juniors (who are verry shocked) saying it was the test and he would've done it earlier if lwj just told him. I swear it was called something like "you shouldve told me" but i searched for it far and wide to no avail. Maybe its been deleted, but if you happen to know what it is.. I would really appreciate it!! Thank you! <3

5. Hi!!! I was hoping you (or your followers) can help me find a fic! I think I saw it on your blog somewhere or maybe saw a summary but all I remember is it’s a time travel fic where Wei Wuxian spends most the time trying to get Lan Zhan’s memories of the future back so he could have his husband with him Thanks!!!

6. hey, I hope you're still doing the wangxian fic finder. I'm looking for a wangxian fic, it was abo, alpha lwj and omega wwx. it started with wwx as a doctor at a hospital, where he met a-yuan who was admitted due to appendicitis. wwx felt a connection to him, but because a-yuan was admitted under a fake name (a-li I think), he didn't realize that a-yuan was his child. he thought a-yuan had died, when he left the lan clan to escape his stifling life there. I hope someone can find this! thank you!

7. Hi Mojo! I love your blog. I've found so much great reading material here, it's amazing! I hope I'm doing this right. Sorry if I'm not. I'm looking for this fic where Lan Zhan tries to change public opinion about Wei Ying by having him sell his inventions and by telling everyone one about all evil stuff Jin Guangyao did to prove Wei Ying's innocence. It was set just after canon. It would be amazing if you could help me find it. I've been searching for days. Thank you so much! [Grrr, I know this one, but I’m drawing a blank.]

8. hello!! i was wondering if you knew this fic in which wangxian meet again after years of not seeing eachother. wwx has a-yuan and lwj finds out a-yuan is his son. it was mpreg i believe and i think lwj worked in art or something like that. thank you!!

9. Welcome back! Could I submit something to the next fic search post? It was a fic where LWJ was injured & everyone thought he died. He's actually just unconscious & LXC hid him somewhere. WWX gets taken into the Lan sect to heal (I think) & no one's allowed to tell him that LWJ is alive. LQR feels bad about it, but follows LXC's orders. Then, there's a scene where WWX is sneaking into Qinghe and happens upon LWJ (who just woke up) & WWX faints. I think WX end up going on a mission together after.

10. hi mojoflower, this is a wangxian fic search request. wangxian reincarnate in every life and the moment their eyes meet they recollect all previous memories. lwj had made a promise to wwx that they would be together in every life. and they mostly are? i think? this life, wwx is a fashion critic and lwj is a model and while on runway as their eyes meet they recollect it all. afterwards wwx goes to lwj all excited and after sometime finds that in this life lwj is already married to another guy and tells wwx tht he cares about his current husband very much. of course wwx is devastated...it was supposed to be a multichapter fic, and i dont know what happened after this. ~ @earthytones-olivegreens

12. Hi there I'm looking for a fic with modern Cultivators with Wei Ying and Lan Zhan partners in the professional sense. A curse befalls Lan Zhan on the job and it seems its about 'fuck or die' and wangxian issues, but its actually a gender change curse and Wei Ying is surprised cause he never knew Lan Zhan as a anything but man and Lan Zhan says that he wanted it so and that he is satisfied with the result and he's keeping it. ~ @krysaniar [Oh, boo, I was so confident this was Brilliant Mistake by brooklinegirl, but that’s not a lwj mpreg.]

13. Hello! I was wondering if you could help me find a fic? I've been looking for it but I just can't find it, so I thought maybe you would be more successful than me. Okay, so the fic is wangxian and what I remember from it is that it's set in the CR arc when they are teenagers, and it goes as normal about WY trying to get LZ attention, but then WY misses class because he's on his period and LZ gets worried and then they become friends and then boyfriends and eventually Wei Ying gets pregnant bc he was using a type of tea to avoid pregnancy but it failed, and then they were to be married, and that's where the chapter finished. It was an unfinished fic if that helps. You are my last hope, so good luck! And thank you beforehand, have a great day c:

14. Hi Mojo 👋! You are an absolute godsend, I love your finder posts and fic recs! Am hoping to get some help with a fic I thought you had prev recced (but either I'm not using the right terms/tags or I made up the rec 🤦♀️), it's canon divergence from nightless city, where lwj gets injured. Lxc believes that wwx killed him (I think due to jgy??) and so retaliates only it turns out lwj is alive and wakes to find out lxc killed wwx. wwx comes back as in canon but I think (not 100%) that alot of it is lwj distancing himself from his brother.
Fingers crossed that rings a bell with anyone 🤞 thank you for all your hard work!

16. Hi there! Here's one for your Fic Finder, since you're doing those again :) I'm looking for an arranged marriage fic -- one of those "the Jiangs arrange for WWX to marry LWJ during the burial mounds era to try to avoid disaster for him." (It's not a stone to break your soul, a song to save it by rikke, although I love that one.) The part I specifically remember is that Jiang Cheng was especially worried for WWX. JYL, WWX and LWJ were all pretty okay with the situation but Jiang Cheng was upset that even as time went by WWX wasn't returning to the sword path and didn't seem to be getting any healthier, because JC didn't know about the missing core. ~ @mikkeneko

[ warnings ] : tom drops the f bomb once or twice

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
“And this...is Mr. Beck.” You dramatically enunciate, trying your best to make sure your voice sounds deep like Samuel L. Jackson’s.
And maybe your voice change was just that convincing, because Tom doesn’t seem even the slightest bit distracted by your acting skills. He continues to stay in character, his eyebrows knitting together instead in response to the line.
“Mysterio?”
“What?” You change your voice again to one that (you thought) might be more appropriate for Jake Gyllenhaal.
Tom gently shakes his head, a shy smile appearing on his lips. “Uh, doesn’t matter. It’s just what my friends have been calling you.”
You’re currently lying on your stomach across the plush expanse of your living room couch, reading off the weighty packet of papers clutched in your hand as your boyfriend, glasses perched on his nose, paces back and forth in front of the fireplace not too far away from you. You’d glance over at him in between lines, noticing the way he’d sometimes lick his lips or run his fingers through unruly hair whenever he felt his next line slipping away from his memory.
It was common for you to help Tom run through his lines every once in a while, but today was a rare occasion when he didn’t need to be on set. The opportunity had you hoping it’d mean a chance to get his mind off of something other than work. But when you spotted the massive, bookmarked script sitting unattended on the kitchen island in the morning, you realized halfway through your coffee that that option was off the table.
So, here you were — now working through your second cup of the day — helping Tom do his self-assigned homework.
“You can call me Quentin.”
You squint for a moment to read the stage directions that follow before extending your hand towards your boyfriend, who catches the gesture from his peripheral. You raise an eyebrow, a serious look in your eyes to match the graveness of the scene. Tom notices, and you swear you could see the corner of his lips twitch up ever so slightly. But it’s gone before you could say for sure.
He closes the distance, gently taking hold of your outstretched hand before shaking it with a kind of firmness. You smile at him when your eyes meet. He doesn’t return it, but there’s a tenderness and twinkle in his eyes as they rest on you that you knew you’d never trade for anything else in the world.
It feels like he holds both the gaze and your hand for a second too long. You have half a mind to pull him into the spot on the couch next to you, but you think better of it and let go.
“Um…” Your vision scrambles back to the script, trying to find where you left off. “Oh — Saw what you did with the tower. We could use someone like you in my world.”
“Thanks. Wait, I’m sorry. 'Your world?'” Tom doesn’t return to the same spot where he was pacing just moments ago. Instead he stands a few steps away from you, arms crossed in concentration, looking down at his feet or glancing outside the window from time to time.
“There are multiple realities, Peter. This is Earth Dimension 616. I’m from Earth-833.” You find it slightly more difficult for you to refocus. The brief moment you shared earlier has made you lose the flourish you’d been previously putting into your recitations, the lines come out more monotone.
And you know. You know you should be helping him practice his lines for this very, very important multi-million dollar movie, but there were far more pressing things at hand for you.
Like how cute your boyfriend looked.
He’s dressed simply; a buttery-soft white t-shirt and a pair of dark green sweatpants. But it’s less about that and more about how he looks all together — the glasses; the curls of his hair; the way the fabric of his sleeves clings to his muscular arms; how he seems to fidget when he senses you staring at him for a little too long.
He’s doing it now: Tom doesn’t look up at you, nervously shifting his weight from one foot to the other instead. But with a pleasant chuckle of disbelief, he’s back to being Peter: “I’m sorry — you’re saying there’s a multi-verse?”
You smile and bite your bottom lip when you notice the sudden transition in character, head craning to the side a bit as you continue to look at him, trying to catch his gaze. It’s obvious he knows what you’re doing, and it’s beginning to get to him. He can feel your gaze heating his skin up; the rosy tips of his ears betray his otherwise external nonchalance.
How could you not love the effect you had on him? It felt that much more special because he seemed to get worked up over random little things you usually didn’t even know you were doing. He could look so put together on set and in his element, but one innocent look from you was all it took to break his character.
“I thought that was just theoretical. I mean, that completely changes how we understand the initial singularity. We’re talking about an internal —”
“Eternal.” You gently correct him, the small smile never faltering from your lips.
Tom finally glances up at you, throwing his hands up in exasperation. “Fuck. I always get that bit mixed up. Uh — right. So it’s — I mean, that completely changes how we understand the initial singularity; we’re talking about an external —”
“Eternal, babe.” You giggle, sitting up slightly as your eyes take a look at the script. “It’s the eternal inflation system? Whatever that means.”
“Bloody — eternal. Eternal eternal eternal.” Tom’s eyebrows knit together in frustration as he repeats the words to drill it into his memory. You continue to watch with amusement from your front row seat. It was always fascinating (and maybe just a tiny bit attractive?) to see him switch from his English dialect to an American one so casually. One saw little use for movies when you were dating a talented actor.
“Darling?" Tom's voice snaps you out of your daze.
“Hm?”
“I love you, y’know that, yeah? I love and absolutely adore you for being a godsend and helping me run through my lines… but you’ve got to quit smiling at me like that.”
You tuck your lips between your teeth for a moment to vainly try and stifle the smile, eyes widening with feigned innocence and confusion. “Me? Smile? I have literally never smiled at you in my entire life, Thomas.”
That makes him chuckle, shaking his head as he finally gives in and sits down by your side, his body sinking into the couch. You can’t help but laugh too, turning face him.
He cocks his head slightly, softened eyes fixated on your lips. “Mm… See what I mean? That smile. Right there.” His thumb and index finger carefully grab your chin as his voice lowers. “I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.”
And suddenly, it’s your turn to forget what to say next. You blush under his stare.
Your boyfriend’s eyes glimmer as they look into yours. But they disappear behind closed eyelids as he draws you in to gently kiss you.
The soft petals of his lips don’t linger against yours for too long, but the physical affection remains in the way his forehead leans against yours. Against the silence of the moment, you feel him draw in a breath to say something, and you swear it's gonna be some romantic one-liner. But instead he says in a Queens accent: “We’re talking about an eternal inflation system. And how does that even work with all the quantum… It’s insane!”
“Did I get that right?” One eye peeks open for confirmation.
And just like that, it's back to business. You hum, pulling away from him to grab the script from the coffee table. Your eyes quickly scan the page. “Mhm! And then Mysterio says… Don’t ever apologize for being the smartest person in the room.”
“All in a day’s work.” Tom chuckles, and you can tell by the way his shoulders relax that he’s done — for now. His arms wrap around you as he falls back on the couch with you lying on his chest. “Eternal inflation system, initial singularity, quantum… Y’know sometimes, I wonder what would’ve happened if I auditioned to be Groot instead.”
“Hm,” you purse your lips in thought. “Well, you’d certainly make a very handsome tree, I can tell you that much.”
Tom feigns a delighted gasp. “You mean that?”
“Of course, I mean look at you. It’s obvious you were born to play the part.”
“Ha." You watch the way his eyes crinkle as he entertains the idea. "Honestly, you’re gonna be the reason why I turn into a big diva one of these days,” He mumbles as he leaves a peck on your nose.
“Don’t get so ahead of yourself, champ.” The corners of your lips turn up as you reassuringly pat his chest. “You might want to start improving your line memorization skills before you start thinking that far ahead.”
Tom groans as he tosses his head back, his eyes screwed shut. “You hurt me, baby. Really. You do.”
“I love you too.” You giggle as you sit up to straddle his waist, and you pick up the script one final time. “Now, do you want to run that last line by me again?”

Black Lake // Remus Lupin x Slytherin Reader
Pairings: Young!Remus Lupin x Slytherin Fem!Reader Warnings: None Word Count: 2175 Time Period: Marauders Era Summary: Remus wants to introduce his girlfriend to his friends but it doesn’t go very well. Requested: No Authors Note: I hope you enjoy!
Harry Potter Masterlist Masterlist
You and Remus had been dating for almost a year. You both kept it private for the sake of not being judged. More so you because you’re in Slytherin. Slytherins and Gryffindors don’t date, they aren’t friends, they don’t like one another. But you and Remus didn’t care about the stereotypes forced upon your houses.
“Do you want to tell people about us?” Remus asked. You were both in the Room of Requirement. It was in a library form but filled with muggle books and a small rustic table with a pot of tea on top. There was a couch in the far corner of the room, it looked a little worn down but it was rather comfortable. You had taken a small nap but Remus wasn’t tired so he just stayed awakened to make sure you were always comfortable.
“What do you mean? Like, tell your friends?” You were timid for a Slytherin but, proud of your house. You knew how people from every house would react to you dating Remus. You were more intimidated by his friends' opinions. The Marauders were ruthless with everything they did. The entire house of Slytherin was already mostly on the receiving end of their pranks, bullying, and belittling; but to be singled out by Black and Potter was something you would most definitely not enjoy.
“No, I mean everyone, the whole school. I know you think my friends will do something to you but they won't. I promise.”
“I trust you, but how do you know they won’t? What if they think I’m not good enough for you?”
Remus has never seen or heard you talk so down about yourself. “You are enough for me Y/N, if anything I’m not enough for you,” you were going to cut him off but he stopped you. “You know me and my biggest secret, and after knowing it you still wanted to date me.”
You finally cut him off, “Remus John Lupin I swear on Salazar Slytherin's grave that if you talk about yourself in such a manner one more time, I will hex you into oblivion. You are perfect, everything about you is perfect. I love everything about you, even if you don’t,” you finished.
“Now I never said I wasn’t perfect,” he smirked.
“Remus!” you laughed.
“Really though, I want to tell everyone.” You both stared at each other before you nodded, “let’s just let everyone find out on their own, the news will spread quickly.”
* * *
Not a single one of your classes before lunch included Remus, so usually, you would both sneak away sometime during lunch to catch up. Now you’d be able to go up to him anytime you want without caring about anybody seeing. Sneaking away to somewhere private at Hogwarts during lunch had to be the most impossible thing you had ever done.
You had been in the library during your free period looking for nothing in particular. You did, however, find a muggle romance novel you had never read before. Pride and Prejudice seemed like it could be a piece of literature both you and Remus would enjoy. Also decided that this would be one of the best ways to reveal your relationship to the school, you were going to ask him if he wanted to go to your special tree at the Black Lake and read with you.
Briskly you made your way to the Great Hall and straight for the Gryffindor table. You could feel your nerves settling in but you didn’t let your face falter. You approached the table and caught sight of Remus and his friends as they were laughing about something, not caring if they were irritating the people around them.
The silence in the hall seemed to diminish once you were behind Remus. Potter and Black looked up at you first and they both wore an equally disgusted scowl as they stared you down. “Remus?” you spoke softly, suddenly feeling timid. “I found a new book, do you want to go read it with me?” You failed to maintain eye contact with Remus as you continuously looked down at your feet and the book in your hands.
“What does this snake,” Black seethed, “want with you Moony?” Potter seemed to agree with him but Peter, who was sat next to Remus with Black and Potter on the opposite side, looked like he didn’t feel the need to contribute to this conversation.
Remus stood up and wrapped you in a hug whispering into your ear, “I’ll handle this, promise.” He turned towards his friends, “Guys, this is my girlfriend, Y/N, Y/N these are my best friends James, Peter, and Sirius.”
The entirety of the Great Hall was waiting for the reaction of ¾ of the Marauders. It was silent. No one spoke for what seemed like an eternity before James spoke up, “can we talk somewhere private?”
* * *
The Room of Requirement has once again aided one of your needs. On the journey there you were dreading the conversation that was about to happen. The five of you had been seated across from each without uttering a word for the past five minutes. You didn’t dare look up at the three boys across from you and kept your eyes trained on yours and Remus’ entangled hands.
“What is happening? How did this,” Sirius gestured at you and Remus, “happen?” Sirius leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He and James seemed to be the most concerned with Remus dating a Slytherin. You were completely harmless but solely because you are a Slytherin, they automatically despised you and everyone else in your house.
“No matter that, why would you let this happen, Moony? A Slytherin? Really?” James stood up abruptly which caused you to jump a little. Remus squeezed your hand to reassure you that he was there. “Are you under a love spell? Is it amortentia?” he turned to Sirius, “I think she has him under a love spell.”
They both began whispering amongst themselves and Peter kept to himself on the couch. You decided it couldn't hurt so you gave him a small smile and he gave you one back. You were pleased that he wasn’t completely against you.
Remus stood up catching everyone's attention, “Prongs, Padfoot, Y/N did not put me under a love spell. She has been my girlfriend for almost a year; I think it would’ve worn off by now. I love her and if you two can’t accept that I don’t think I will speak to you for a while,” he finished sitting back down next to you.
“Remus you can’t do that, they’re your best mates,” you scolded him. You didn’t want him to choose between you and his friends, who had been there with him for a lot longer.
“The snake is right Remus,” Sirius was cut off before he could finish.
“Don’t call her that. She is not a snake, she is my girlfriend and I love her. I didn’t think you two could be so close-minded. And I will not sit here and listen to you two belittle her just based on the robes she is wearing,” he finished as the room went silent. “Come on Y/N, we’re leaving.”
“Remus, wait! We can work this out, mate!” James called for him but you both kept walking. He kept walking until we were at the Black Lake. He was first to sit down and lean against the tree, Remus pulled you down softly to sit between his legs.
“Can you read it for me?” His voice was soft. You didn’t want to bring up what had just happened or the fact that you still had classes to attend because he needed this.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” You could feel his breathing slow down as you lay against his chest. His arm was wrapped around your waist, drawing random shapes on your side. You finished the first chapter and pulled out a bookmark before turning to face Remus. “Remy?” you asked quietly to not disturb him.
“Yes?” he asked, not bothering to open his eyes.
“I think you should speak to your friends, without me. I don’t want to be the reason you lose your best mates, Rem. They’ve been with you through everything, more times than I can count. You can’t end a six-year-long friendship over me, I won’t let you.”
Remus was quiet as you both sat there. He was playing with the grass when he gave you a slight nod and met your eyes. “I will speak to them. I’m sorry I upset you. And I’m sorry they spoke to you like that.”
“Remus all that matters is that you speak to your friends. I’m fine. I love you,” you finished, hugging him. He said it back and returned the hug. Remus stood up and held his hand out to help you up but gave you another hug.
What the two of you didn’t know is that Sirius and James had used the Cloak of Invisibility. They didn’t expect to see such an interaction. And they didn't expect you to tell Remus that he needed to speak to them. They had no time to dawdle and had to head back to the Gryffindor common room to listen to what Remus had to say.
* * *
Remus briskly made his way to the Gryffindor common room. Before you went your separate ways, he told you he would let you know how it goes. He was nervous to face the rest of the Marauders; maybe not Peter but James and Sirius had a vendetta against the entire house of Slytherin. When he entered the room the two out of the three boys were sitting down listening to James complain and watching him pace about the room. All three heads turned at the sound of the portrait door closing.
“Remus-,” James was cut off.
“I need you to have a seat and listen to what I am about to say.” James took a seat in between Sirius and Peter, waiting for Remus to begin. “Y/N is my girlfriend and I love her. She loves me for who I am, I trust her. I didn’t think you guys would react this way but this is exactly what she said she was scared of. I wish the three of you could just not care that she’s a Slytherin, she’s never done anything remotely evil, she reads and loves pastries.”
“I’m sorry,” Sirius started. “We’re sorry,” he emphasized. “We shouldn't have let this get out of hand. We trust you and your decisions, so we should’ve trusted you on this.”
“We shouldn’t have judged her so quickly,” James added.
“She seems nice,” Peter spoke.
“She is,” Remus smiled, “and I hope the four of you can set aside your differences and become friends.”
* * *
You were sitting in the courtyard working on your potions essay when two shadows loomed over you. Your eyes met with Sirius and James. Closing your book and putting away your parchment, you sat up a little bit straighter before speaking, “may I help you?”
“We wanted to apologize,” James spoke. “We shouldn’t have treated you the way we did and assumed you would be bad for Remus.” James kept his head, too embarrassed to make eye contact.
Sirius decided to speak as it seemed that James was finished, “we just want what’s best for him and if that's you, we have to get used to it. I hope we can set our differences aside and be friends.”
“Okay,” was all you said. You didn’t feel the need to scold them for their behavior, that wasn’t your place. The boys both nodded and walked away. You felt more at ease now that they didn’t dislike you. Your eyes strayed on the spot where the two boys had just been standing, not noticing another person who had just sat next to you. Remus watched you for a few seconds before clearing his throat. “They apologized,” you said, turning your head to face him. “I accepted it.”
Remus didn’t respond. You both sat there with your head rested on his shoulder watching as the sun gradually set. He stood up reaching for your hand. You both made your way to the Great Hall and toward the Gryffindor table. You were too tired to protest so you didn’t say anything. Your head was still rested against Remus’ shoulder even when you took your seats in front of the other three Marauders. You gave them a tired smile and they returned it.
Dinner continued rather quietly from your side of the table. Remus and you didn’t bother speaking to one another but silently communicated through facial expressions. He dragged you to the Black Lake for a moment before curfew set in. As you lay on his chest you focused on the way his heart sounded. “I love you,” you whispered.
“And I, you.”

C’s (1/?) Destiel Rec List:
That gets less and less coherent as it goes.
So here is a rec list by order in which I read them and not by preference. They’re like, All Destiel, because that’s how Post-November C rolls:
First on the list is The Courtship of Combat by bendingsignpost 18k
I KNOW it’s not Thee fic by bendingsignpost that everyone is talking about. I know. BUT, I dearly enjoyed it. It’s the first in a series and it’s A/B/O. (I know. I know. Don’t @ me. Or do.) It’s pre-relationship and the characters are definitely themed toward early-Destiel if you catch my drift. Omega!Dean’s hand is being fought over. This wouldn’t matter to Castiel except he totally told Michael that the reason he wouldn’t marry anyone is because he’s head over heels for the Winchester Omega that he doesn’t even have a real recollection of ever meeting. It’s like the perfect balance of a meet-cute and meet-ugly. I just LOVE bendingsignpost’s Castiel voice. It’s such a great characterization.
I’M GONNA SCREAM THE SECOND ON THE LIST IS ANOTHER A/B/O?!? I swear I don’t read that much A/B/O, but this is another exception because it’s Biological Imperatives (Or Not) by tiamatv 29k
Tiamatv is one of my favorite writers. If you’re unfamiliar with their work, I’m gonna rec more of it to you. No worries. THIS lovely piece of work is a Beta/Beta narrative that focuses on how hilarious A/B/O tropes are from an outsider perspective, but doesn’t do it in a way that feels insulting to the classical tropes. It’s just people living their lives where these situations happen not often but enough that they know how to deal with it. Dean and Cas have several first dates trying to figure out what’s happening between the two of them. Castiel is thee love of my life in this piece. And Dean’s headspace makes for a witty narrative.
If you know me at all, you know this next one HAD to be a regency and it’s Of Lords and Letters by MalMuses 14k
Dean is the master of the Winchester estate after his father passes. Unfortunately for the estate (but much to Dean’s pleasure), he can’t run it personally because he’s at war. Not that he likes war all that much, but it’s what he knows. War he knows. Sam is a conniving but well-meaning little brother and puts him in contact with Mister Castiel Shurley. (I KNOW. I KNOW. I allow Castiel Shurley in recent fics only if Chuck is cast as an asshole, and he is :)) But seriously, it’s SO Regency. There’s letters, pining, propriety, and men in period suits. What more could you ask for?
Y’all probably gonna immediately peg who I am as a person when I say Always Together, Eternally Apart by EmiliaOagi 27k is probably one of my top ten Destiel fics.
Here’s the thing—Ladyhawke is probably my second favorite movie in the entire world beat only by The Princess Bride. (Seriously, if y’all wanna bribe me with anything, it will always be that.) NOT ONLY does EmiliaOagi beautifully incorporate the source material, but once more Dean Winchester is SO Dean Winchester it hurts. This piece is from Sam’s perspective, and his running inner monologue is both insightful and entertaining. If you’re unfamiliar with the plot of Ladyhawke, I refuse to spoil it for you. Some things must be experienced, and this is one of them. Either by reading this lovely work or by viewing the original film, you’ll understand the legend that so captivates me.
OH ANOTHER DELICIOUS ONE and it’s like in that vein of Retired Hunters But Not Yet Together Destiel is Welcome to Pine Shores! by andimeantittosting (Saylee) 20k
It’s always fun reading Dean character studies, and this is definitely one of them. So the long and short of it is PINING FOR DAYS (this was written for Pinefest) and Dean trying to set up Cas with other people because he thinks Cas might want more. Oh, and did I mention they’ve been running this motel for like thirteen years? And they share a bed? *Tropes Intensify*
There is also Dean Winchester and the Patron Saint of Blind Dates by goldenraeofsun 18k which I think some of y’all are familiar with.
Sort of what it says on the tin, to be honest, folks. Dean’s friends set him up with some blind dates and the bartender—Castiel—grips his Purple Nurple tight and raises him from perdition. (And no, it’s not a euphemism.) The dates are sort of outrageously in character and interestingly enough this is a Sam/Ruby fic too! I sort of liked how it played out in this piece. If you’re worried about the Sam/Ruby dynamic, fear not! They were both former addicts and have since been clean for (a year or two? I don’t recall the time frame.) Dean has a love/hate sort of relationship with an emphasis on hate with Ruby since she’s the one who got Sam into drugs (allegory for the demon blood) but she’s also the one to try to go clean first. I just thought that was an interesting take, and one I would’ve linked to have seen the show pursue to be honest, but Supernatural has to keep the hot ladies dead or villains or both haha ;)) I digress. It’s a smaller read but the subject matter is pretty heavy. From former religious cults to the former addicts, please keep in mind if mentions of these things make you uncomfortable. It’s definitely the one whose subject matter stuck out the most to me. So apologize if I’ve missed mentioning anything specific for y’all in the previous recs or this one.
WAIT THIS NAME LOOKS FAMILIAR!??! IT’S andimeantittosting (Saylee) BACK AT IT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WITH The Winchester Affair 34k !!
SAYLEE YOU HAD TO MAKE IT ONTO THIS LIST TWICE. Another Regency, except this time Castiel is long time friends (with benefits *eyebrow wiggles*) with Dean. He’s in love with him, obviously, so this means that an asshole named Zachariah that we all know and loathe comes around planning to frame his poor sister (Hael) with stealing Mary Winchester’s brooch if Castiel doesn’t find some damning evidence on the Winchesters for him. DRAMA AHOY!!! This is a very harlequin/regency novel. It’s actually based off of a novel called Ware the Marquess as is the wont of the Destiel Harlequin Challenge. Very good challenge to check out; very excellent fic to read. And the author so nice we listed them twice. ;) SIDE NOTE: This is totally one of those Regency ones where It Simply Isn’t Done, if you know what I mean. Like, no one is outright slurring or something that I can recall (and it isn’t tagged so I doubt there is), but it Isn’t Done, But They Love Each Other Very Much.
So you guys know Scoobynatural is my comfort episode, right? Well, one of my favorite things that I’ve delightfully discovered is the trope of building off of Cas’ one-liner about being effin’ married, so have The Nikkah by Maxine (WinchesterPooja) 28k!
Reads like a Case-fic as there’s an entire sub-plot happening with Sam. So this story happens well within the canon despite being canon-divergent. This one does end happy!! There’s a view episode like fics I might rec that end in canon-fashion with Dean repression and I love the pining and all but sometimes I need sweet fandom closure. Long and short of it: Djinn culture? Djinn queen? Fake-relationships? Sam dealing with nightmares? This baby can fit SO MUCH ACTION into a fic.
Okay, so you know the fic with the Bee Movie allegory? (It’ll come up on this reclist.) This has the same vibe, except for the relationship is out of order and Dean is Diagnosed with If I Do It This Way It’s Okay. Yeah, it’s Command Me to Be Well by prosopopeya 28k
Human Cas, back from the dead, post-finale, and Dean is trying to figure out how to get his happy ending. I’ve seen this one make the rounds on fic rec’ing so I think it’s a bit familiar, but I enjoyed it. Even though—as my bookmark says—I usually don’t go in for hurt/comforts with heavy on the hurt because my poor heart can’t take it. This is one of my few exceptions. This one has a healthy dose of Castiel standing up for himself with the bittersweet tang of him literally willing to do so much for Dean. But it’s a Dean perspective, so it really deals with a lot of his inner thoughts.
This one is,,,, in a similar vein as Command Me to Be Well. I guess I was in a mood. Baby, Come On Home by woodenducks 9k.
IT’S SEASON NINE WITH A SIDE OF PINE. What more could you ask for angst? Human Cas in Rexford trying to make a life for himself when all he wants is to go home. But he’s also trying to figure out what home even is for him. There’s a lot of drama between Dean and Cas, because of course Dean wants him there. But blah blah angels and blah blah whatever excuse the writers wanted so we couldn’t have human Cas and Dean in the bunker. We KNOW obviously the only thing keeping canon Dean from snapping was the fact that Cas was not human around him. *heavy eyeroll*. Anyways, this is a heartbreaking read from Castiel’s perspective.
One of my favorite Rescue Cas from the Empty fics is (they'll never break) the shape we take by auroralynches (teresavampa) 9k.
There’s this super cool concept of how Castiel experiences his regrets within the Empty and how Dean navigates through them to get to Castiel. I really enjoyed it, and of course the greatest love story ever told has got to have SOME theatrics and sentiments that are definitely reflected in this fic. My point is, I really love when Empty Rescue fics include analyzing Castiel’s regrets, and this one does so but from Dean’s perspective. As in Dean is viewing Castiel’s memories and trying to perceive his regrets.
Sooooo Epistolary by tiamatv 9k eh?
I love love LOVEEEEEE epistolary fics. I love them. I’ll always read them. And I totally told you I loved tiamatv. This is probably another one for the top ten fics just because it plays into my things. Love letters, music, and misunderstandings, oh my!!
HERE’S A VERY SEXY TERRIBLE LIFE ----> Ties that Bind Us by TheTwistedWillow 13k
Okay, so BASICALLY what if It’s A Terrible Life happened in like, circa-season 13 and Castiel was thrown in with Dean Smith and Sam Wesson. Literally all that I wanted in this fic. I do mean it’s sexy, by the way. I can’t even begin to explain this fic beyond it’s Castiel’s perspective, and he has some awareness that something is off. And being inside Castiel’s head when he’s not Castiel gets me every time.
OKAY I KNOW THIS IS THE THIRD A/B/O FIC ON THIS LIST I KNOW I KNOW The Mills School for Distinguished Girls by SillyBlue 13k IS WORTH IT THOUGH?!?!
Alpha Dean Winchester is going off to war. In the meantime, his family still doesn’t know about his marriage to Omega Castiel (in fact, they still think Castiel is a Beta.) Male Omegas are very rare in this universe, and it is addressed along with the fact that just because Castiel might look different on the outside doesn’t make him any different than the girls. Which I thought was a thought-provoking interpretation. There’s prejudices here—a lot of them against women and omegas—and a temporary character death which actually moved me to tears. I bookmarked this saying bring the tissues; bring the tissues.
THE BEE MOVIE FIC THE BEE MOVIE FIC THE BEE MOVI— according to all known laws of life by sobsicles 29k sobsicles I owe you a great slice of pie.
Sobsicles, my beloved, my bestie <3 (am I allowed to say that? I mean it affectionately. Well and truly.) You REALLY got in my head with this one. This is literally such an insane read that I read it twice in a row. Yeah, whoops. Cas is back from the empty and Dean is an asshole about it because feelings are hard. Here is what I bookmarked this fic with: “Dean Winchester has issues. He gets through them. Like a Bull in a China Shop, but he gets through them. The metaphor works.” And that is EXACTLY what happens. Dean is such an asshole and I LOVE IT. 14yr me would cry at the concept of reading this but 14yr me is a tasteless bitch. This is where it’s at. Dean has so much he’s mentally working through and Cas won’t take no shit and Sam is tired. It’s great. I love it. I know we rec sobsicles left and right over here (and I know there’s a new one I haven’t read yet) but this one is really my favorite. And I know some people feel uncertain when fics/authors get popular in a fandom, so if this isn’t for you that’s okay!! But well and truly this is just one of those in the top ten Destiel fics of my heart.
Baby Jack during the Widower Arc truther here like Trial and Tribulations of Raising a Nephilim by Sickandtiredofyou 14k
I’ve seen this one rec’d before but not enough. Like this one SHOULD be talked about. Because I am a Baby Jack Truther, and putting a baby in the widower arc is my literal weakness. Dean goes crib shopping. He paints the nursery. He does that season 2&3 thing he does where he wrecks something so that he has to rebuild it. He’s mourning. He’s crying. Sam is afraid to hold a baby. There’s a lot of emotions and they’re raw. Promise there’s a happy ending, but be ready to cry first.
Another sam pov because i love my little brother Letters to Nowhere by Goodluckdetective (scorpiontales) 28k
AWWW YES. So this is another Empty Rescue fic. This one plays up the Orpheus and Eurydice lore, but in a surprising twist this is Sam’s POV!! Sam doesn’t know the full story, and we as the audience aren’t granted omnipresence for this fic either. It’s just point blank is his emotions. Him worrying for Dean, missing Cas, and wanting a happy ending for all of them. It’s sort of epistolary with how Sam is texting Castiel’s phone, but in general it is Sam Winchester wanting to save both of his brothers. So despite it being Destiel, the Destiel is almost the background ship since this story is Sam’s story and how Sam witnesses their story. It’s pretty meta in that sense, in that he’s aware there’s this grand story going on and we as an audience know there’s this grand love story happening, but we’re reading Sam’s story.
One of those i mentioned where its like an episode and they just end with tension between them >:((( but SO enjoyable and very much like an actual MotW Soul Searching by Lottiethroughthelookingglass 13k
It is in a screenplay format, but I didn’t mind that. It’s definitely a fun read! I thought the characterizations were pretty grand all-in-all. No get together though in this one if you’re looking for Destiel. Sorry. But it does make its way on to the list because we deserved a body swap episode and never got it.
This is like the third fic by tia and im not sorry and it’s Filoplume by tiamatv 8k !!!!
Its SOULMATES BAYBEEEE!!! But it’s not destined Soulmates. It’s like… soul compatibility, but only AFTER you’ve forged the bond. Self-Made Soulmates as it were. Very achingly and lovingly sentimental. Like, I think I’ve read this one four times in one week? It’s the shortest rec on this list (and while I definitely have shorter works bookmarked, I wanted this rec list to be longer ones for some reason I guess) but it feels longer. Maybe because every paragraph is like a gut punch. egGH. It’s another Empty Rescue by-the-by and Dean’s soulmark (given to him by Cas after Castiel’s Despair Confession) helps get him into the Empty.
OHOHOH LEVERAGE AU!!?! The Jericho Job by giantteenwolforgy 20k
The first in a series and I am SO EXCITED FOR MORE. I absolutely adore Leverage, so seeing this was like clearing my skin with care products I’ve never used. The characterizations are amazingly well done and vivid. They feel so unbelievably real and it makes me an eager beaver to get to the meat of them connecting as a team and family, but the slow burn is well worth it.
Yes, yes, Dean needs him, and need = love for Dean’s vocab but what does dEAN WANT and what does want mean to Dean? Find out in if you try sometimes, well you just might find by JenTheSweetie 9k
I’ve always been a huge fan of metas that dissect Dean’s differeniation of need vs want, and this whole work was like one of those metas. It’s a Cas POV of him trying to figure out how to read this man that he knows so well. It pulls out the angst and it makes me ache, but promises there IS a happy ending and Dean WANTS it.
Shush you know you want Goodbye Stranger meets Detroit: Become Human you knOW YOU WANT IT Digital Heartbeat by Chancy_Lurking 14k
MHM IT’S SO GOOD. Talk about good characterization. This work is almost a time piece? There’s a few skips in the timeline but you get the good parts and what’s needed for a full narrative. Castiel is an android sent by Cyberlife to the Men of Letters for aiding in hunting. He’s—of course—assigned to the brothers Winchester.
Shush delicious content right here mwah Heartstring Promenade by SaltyWords (agent4hire22) 17k
Another Empty Rescue?!? Yeah, yeah it is. Dean is sort of reckless. And by that, I mean a lot. But it’s fine. All happy endings, and smutty endings too. ;))
This is one of two 36-questions inspired fics I’ve got bookmarked, but the sex in this one hits my preferences too perfectly so it gets the spot and this list is getting too long to include all of my bookmarks to include both of them anyways but Seek to Know You Better by ahurston 32k mhmmmmmm
This fic is very personal to me. I couldn’t explain even if you asked me to. It might be the Florida Citrus Tree expressionism in Cas’ thoughts, but idk it's such a mystery (the way you know me) by fleeceframe 20k has got it on the list.
Cas loses his memories for a short period of time. Dean and Sam introduce Castiel to Cas, and Dean and Cas have a heart to heart. <3
A vERY interesting premise in a fool's kind of careless by Paclipas 9k
Dean is SUPER off his game when he can’t tell the difference between Cas and Not-Cas over the summer. Canon-fic.
A FIC FROM 2018?!?! WITH TIME TRAVEL??!? Ye ye it is Crazy Diamonds by pantheon_of_discord 24k
Dean of 2018, married to Castiel, swaps places with his newly dragged from Hell 2008 self. Time shenanigans and Bobby Frickin’ Singer ensue.
This one is ONE I AM OBSESSED WITH ACTUALLY And Neither Do You by callsigntango 45k like if it's not the one everyone starts talking about :((( is SO GROSS how callsigntango describes the empty and i lOOOVEEEE ITTTTT. Also plays into a Florida myth I totally forgot about so high-key freaked me out. Hahah.

﹒♱﹒
✒︎requested: no i just loved the gif ✒︎warnings: swearing & narcotics + mentions of blood, bruises & violence && lots of tension ✒︎word count: 5000+ ✒︎season set: 1
[originally posted on my wattpad, bc idk how to post via tumblr but we tryin’. feedback majorly appreciated x]
﹒♱﹒
You took a deep breath as you lifted your bruised and dried bloody knuckle to the oh so familiar door. A thousand thoughts racing through your mind as you tapped your foot, both with impatience and disconcertment of what consequences would follow.
You had moved to Small Heath at the age of seven, give or take, your father had got a job promotion which meant moving up country. When you first arrived you were known as 'The Cockneys At The Bottom Of Watery Lane'. You weren't even from London. You just happened to live near the capital. Not that anyone cared.
When you started school it was the same, only worse. All the girls would pick on you for speaking funny and the boys would pick on you for being too 'brash'. It wasn't your fault your parents had raised you to not take any shit. With your fathers line of work, he wasn't around an awful lot which mean you and your mother had to do a lot of things yourself. Which you, of course, didn't mind but it did mean that a lot of people would be confused and usually straight up rude.
They'd say things along the lines of, 'Whys a women doing this' and, 'Are women even capable of doing that', and so on, when you and your mother were doing the simplest of things.
Anyway, when you joined the school in Small Heath you found that being a girl with her head held high and strong arms wasn't easy.
One day you were minding your own business under the oak tree in the corner of the playground, reading Oliver Twist, if you remember correctly. When out of nowhere a group of kids made their way over to you; three girls and about five boys, all looking irritated.
"Wot ya doing, girl?", a boy with a scarf on asked you.
You rolled your eyes, turning to look at him as you put your bookmark in your book, "I have a name, you know?".
The boy scowled, "I don't care".
'What do you want?', you asked again, looking at the rest of them, "I'm busy".
A girl took a step forward, her hands behind her back as her plaits fell in front of her shoulders, "Just wanted to know why you're such a freak?".
You laughed, "I'm not a freak", you stood up.
"Yeah you are", a little boy from the back spoke up, "Ya read all the time n wear trousers". Another girl nodded, "Yeah girls don't wear trousers, they're for boys, ya freak".
"Girls can wear trousers too, you know?", you crossed your arms, "They're actually really comfortable".
The first boy that spoke to you shook his head, "I bet you wear trousers coz your mum n dad can't afford dresses, ay?", he said as he turned to look at his friends.
You didn't think twice before you lunged forward and brought the boy to the ground, "Fuck did you just say?", you spat as his friends gasped. When the boy didn't answer you shook him by his collar a little, "Didn't hear you".
"I said", he spoke, "You're poor and a freak of a girl", he sniggered.
You narrowed your eyes and lifted your fist before hitting him in the nose. He yelled and pushed you, knocking you slightly but you didn't fall over.
The kids started shouting "Fight... Fight... Fight...", causing a crowd of other kids to come running.
Soon enough you had hit him about four times before you heard an older voice, "Wots going on 'ere then?". You turned around to see three boys in flat caps, the voice belonging to the tallest.
"Wot's it look like?", you said, "I'm beating him u-", you were cut off as the boy beneath you grabbed one of your braids, yanking you down to the floor with him.
You quickly kicked him in the stomach before the three boys grabbed you and held you back, the other boy groaning in pain.
Walking you away as you shouted the boys laughed.
"Wot's your name then?", the smallest one asked as they sat you on a bench. You kept your chin up as you studied them, "Y/N", you narrowed your eyes, " 'ho uh you's then?".
The other two boys looked at each-other and chuckled before turning back to you, "That", they motioned to the smallest boy, "Is John". You nodded. "I'm Arthur", the tallest said before turning to the boy in the middle, "And this is-".
"I'm Tommy", he said as he held his hand out for you to shake, "These are my brothers".
You shook his hand and sat up straighter, "So Wot?", you began, "Yous the topdogs 'ere or sumin?", you asked.
They laughed as John spoke, "Yeah! We're the best here". Tommy gently shoved his brother, "Shut up, John", he said and looked back to you, "We're not yet, but no one messes with us if that's what you mean".
You nodded again, "So can I join your little gang?".
Arthur laughed, "Well you're not a Shel-", his brother Tommy cut him off.
"That's what I wanted to speak to you about actually, Y/N".
You smiled, "So that's a yes?".
John looked over to his older brothers, "Oh please, she's funny!".
Arthur looked back to you, "Where'd you live?", he asked you.
"Wa'ery Lane", you told him, "'bout a month now".
"Oh you're that girl", he said, "She's the cockney down the bottom of the Lane", he nudged Tommy.
"Alright we'll come and see you after school and you can join us", Tommy smiled.
You jumped to your feet and stood on your tippy-toes to be at the same height as Tommy, "Nah", you simply said as you watched his eyebrows furrow, "I'll meet yous, by the bridge at 'alf three", alright?".
Tommy sighed, "Deal". The two of you spat on your hand and shook on it.
The rest was history. You and the three brother became best friends. Wherever you went, they followed and whoever they met up with, so did you.
You and John were the same age, you two were practically the same, it was hilarious. As you grew up you and John would always be playing pranks on the others and messing around with baby Micheal. No one left the two of you alone because they knew something would end up alight.
As for Arthur and Tommy, you all got on well. Whenever anyone messes with you, a seldom occurrence, they wouldn't mind paying them a quick visit. You helped Arthur with his maths and various other things as often as you could, although you didn't tell everyone about that, he wasn't proud.
As for Tommy, you two always loved to talk about the bigger picture and such. Often you two would walk down to the Canal or Charlie's Yard and spend a good few hours just talking about life and theories and your life aspirations.
By the time you and John were 18 your life had changed a lot, along with his. Of course you were still close friends but what with work and relationships you didn't see him as much as you would've liked. The same with Arthur, he always seemed to be busy, doing what you weren't sure exactly but when you did see him you'd always stop for a chat.
You saw Tommy most, he always made a point of stopping into the Newsagents you worked at, just to say good morning. You appreciated the gesture but couldn't help but feel as if you were wasting his time, you were always so busy trying to set up for the day you never got a minute to sit and chat with him.
As you had grown older, yours and Tommy's relationship had shifted slightly. Not that either of you dared to acknowledge, but you knew. You were both guilty of finding excuses to be around each-other and touch one another. Purposely bickering to clear a room of Shelby's out so that you were alone. Stealing glances whilst the other weren't paying attention. Just silly little things that you would try and pass off as platonic intimacy as you laid in bed at night overthinking every single word you said to the man that day... and every other day you'd ever known him.
Of course you wondered if he felt the same. It felt like he did but you could just be imagining that. And you weren't prepared to ruin what you had just because of some silly crush.
However come the end of 1913 your father was now too old to do the job he had moved here to do. And your mother missed her home town and family and as one thing led to another and they decided it was time to move back.
Of course you were devastated, you loved your job even though it was more than trouble then it was worth and you loved your friends. But you were also excited to go back, of course you had been back, Christmas and Easter and what not. But you missed living there, the bustle, the accents, the opportunities and fast changing trends.
So that's what happened, you spent your last few weeks making the most of it with the Shelby's and your job before the day you left came around. You promised you'd visit, and of course you would. You promised to write, and of course you went out and brought new writing pens and paper.
By the time you were settled back into your hometown war had broken out and it seemed almost every man you knew here was off to war. The brothers back in Birmingham as well. You couldn't bare to think about the consequences of that. You still kept in touch with all three of them though.
Until you didn't.
Around a month after the boys were back from the war the letters stopped coming. You weren't sure why or how but they did. So you stopped writing. Your pride was to big to just simply write to Aunt Pol and ask if everyone was ok incase they were and they just didn't like you.
So how did you get to knocking on their betting shop front doors at 11 o'clock at night?
The door opened after you had began knocking constantly after a minute of waiting.
"The fock do ya wan-", a deep voice began before releasing who they were speaking to.
You looked up, almost shocked, "Fuckin' 'ell, Arthur, you ain't 'alf grown since a last saw ya", you let out a strained chuckle as you looked at the man who seemed to be stunned.
"You gunna let me in or should I just bleed out over your shop front?", you joked dryly, "Don't think it'd be good for business".
"Uh yeah", he said as he shook his head, "No come in, yeah, just watch your step, it's busy". You furrowed your eyebrows as you stepped past him, it was 11 at night why would it be busy?
It was though. The entire room was full of people racing back and forward, counting money, writing numbers, sneaking an extra line now that Arthur had his back turned.
"There's a race tomorrow", Arthur told you as he placed a hand around your shoulder, "Now come on, let's get you fixed up, and then you can tell me what the fock happened to ya hands".
You nodded and followed him through the busy shop, keeping your head. Avoiding catching anyone's eye. Someone's eye.
"Polly!", Arthur shouted as he closed the green doors behind you, "Ay! Polly! Ada! Get down 'ere!".
"Sorry, am I causing you trouble, I didn't mean to end up here I just sort of- did?", you mumbled to Arthur, nervously.
"Wot you on about? You're always welcome here Y/N, you know that", he smiled before shouting for Polly once more. "And besides, this is a great time coz Tommy needs a fucking cheering up", he said as he pulled out a chair at the table for you to sit at.
You looked down at the table as you carefully held your hands above it, trying not to ruin it, "Is that so", you began, "dunno if I can help with that mate".
Arthur reached forwards and tilted your chin up to face him, "I hope for both our sakes that ain't true, you're the only hope left, Y/N", he said honestly.
"Wot do'ya mean?", you asked quietly.
Before he could reply you heard two squeals from behind Arthur. Looking up you saw Polly and Ada, and a little boy following behind.
"Y/N!", Polly said as she lifted her hands in the air, "You're here! You're well", she smiled as she walked over to you, wrapping her arms around your side.
"Oh my god", Ada said as she walked over to the other side of you.
"Wot the fuck happened to ya-" Polly asked as she grabbed an old tea towel and placed it carefully under your hands.
"To make a long story short", you forced a smile, "I thought it would be a good idea to find the man that burgled my parents", you cut yourself off with a 'fuck' as Ada began tending to your bruises, "And let's just say.. it wasn't".
Arthur sat up straight, "Can't be that bad", he laughed, "What'd'ya kill him or something", he joked, making light of the situation.
You licked your bottom lip, not saying anything for a moment before looking up from your hands to Arthur's face with a gulp.
"Wait you-", he began.
"You fucking killed someone!", Ada raised her voice in shock.
"Who's killed who then?", A chirpy voice asked as they walked in the room. You knew that voice from a mile off.
"John?", you called out, "John is that you, come 'ere", you said as you tried your best to turn towards the direction of the voice but Ada and Polly were blocking your view.
"Oh fuck off", John said as he pulled out a chair next to Arthur and next to you, "You didn't come and see me first! I'm offended" he joked, "When did you get back?", he beamed as he leant onto the table, hands clasped, "How are you? Any crazy stories to tell me coz I've got loads and- The fock happened to your hand?", John besieged you with questions.
You laughed, "Yeah, missed you too, mate", you said simply as you looked back down at your hands which were stinging now as Polly cleaned them with neat alcohol.
"So do you wanna go down the Garrison after this then?", John simply asked you, ignoring the fact you were being patched up and hadn't seen him since 1913. It was as if you hadn't even spend half an hour apart let alone five or so years.
You looked up with a beaming smile across your red lips, "Fuck kind of a question is that .. of course I do, John".
Arthur cheered as he got up and reached up on top of the kitchen cabinet and grabbed a bottle of whisky. Finding a few small glasses he poured out some drinks, passing them around. John holding yours as both your hands were currently being worked on.
"To this one", Arthur said as he ruffled your hair slightly, just like he had to when you were kids (which you hated, but now it seemed comforting), before everyone cheered slightly and downed their drink.
"Who we toasting to this time then, ay?", a quite deep voice spoke from across the room. Arthur turned around in shock, spilling the bottle of whiskey over that he had brought over and left on the table. "Oh fuck sake Tommy, look what you made me do!", he shouted.
"You fucking idiot", Polly complained as she looked up, "I brought that whiskey to drink, not wash the floor with!".
John burst out laughing as he watched Arthur scuttle around trying to find something to soak it up with. As Ada left your side to help her brother, you looked up back to where the voice had come from.
Thomas.
You gulped softly, running your eyes over the man across the room. He seemed colder, more mature but rather in a sense that he had lost any grip on hope or joy. A contrast to how John seemed. As you looked back up to his face you blushed as you realised he was already staring back at you.
He walked over as he took his cap off, shoving it into his pocket and pulling out a cigarette.
He sat down at the table, stealing Arthur's seat, who was still trying to apologise to Polly for spilling her drink.
"Bet you're glad to be back", Tommy joked dryly as he placed his cigarette in his mouth and nodded in your direction as he pulled out out a light.
You smiled, "Yeah, I definitely missed this", you said sincerely, looking over at everyone, "Whatever 'this' is", you laughed, looking back over at Tommy.
Everyone pretended to still be busy as they all secretly listened in on the exchange between the two of you - amazed that Tommy had even cracked a smile.
"Right, well that should be fine now", Polly tapped your shoulder, "Just don't get into any fights for about a week, at least", she smiled before walking off, taking Ada and Arthur with her. Leaving John who was playing with his thumbs.
"So the Garrison yeah?", you looked over at your best mate, "tonight?".
"Yeah", he smiled, "I'll buy the first round".
You tilted your head with narrowed eyes, "Don't you practically own the pub", you asked as the smell of Tommy's cigarette filled your nose, in a weird sense it was comforting to you.
John nodded with a shrug, "So you won't be buying it then, will you?", you laughed, "And I will".
"Yeah something like that", he laugh as he stood up, "That's what you get for leavin' us".
"Yeah, coz it's not like you went away to war or anything anyway", you shouted after him as he walked off, acting offended. You let out a quiet snort as you watched.
"Why didn't ya visit?", Tommy spoke after a moment, "Y'know, when we got back".
"Yous stopped writing", you said plainly, "So I thought yuh didn't wanna see me", you shrugged as you looked down at your bruised hands.
"We didn't stop.. you stopped", Tommy leant back in his chair.
"Um, No", you furrowed your eyebrows, "I didn't stop writing first, why would I've done that", you argued.
Tommy shook his head slightly, blowing smoke out as he rubbed his temples, "I know what happened". You looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to explain. "Someone stopped delivering our letters and stealing yours when they got here", he leant forward, looking down at your hands, clenching his jaw, "Wot happened?".
"But- But why would someone do that?", you asked, ignoring his question.
"Dunno", he said and thought for a moment, "I'll ask Finn, he used to collect our post and such".
"Finn?", you raised your eyebrows, "Oh my god, is Finn the boy that- oh my god he's so grown up now!", you gasped.
Tommy smiled, "Shot up when we all went away, didn't he?". You nodded, shifting in your seat, turning towards Tommy slightly as you leant back.
"What happened?", Tommy asked again, in reference to your hands. You watched as he brushed away any dirt on the table, not wanting anything to get lodged in your cuts even if they were now covered and treated. You studied his hands now, all the small marks left from old cuts and gashes.
"Um", you didn't know where to start, "Just after the war ended, y'know, everyone settling back in best they could, everyone still disorientated", you absentmindedly began tapping your foot under the table as you continued. Tommy noticed but kept quite. "Well this man, I knew him actually — right cock'ead, worked at the butchers and spied on all the school girls when they walked 'ome", you grimaced, "So yeah anyway, it was a Wednesday evening, I'd popped round to me parents 'ouse, just two roads away from mine, and um", you licked your bottom lip, lightly biting the skin on the inside.
"When I got- when I got there they were both knocked out cold, only just fuckin' breathin'", you shook your head as you remembered, your tapping growing louder, "That's when I realised someone was in thee 'ouse". Tommy held his chin high as he tried to contain his displeasure, not only had this mysterious man caused you pain but also your parents - who he knew well and respected.
"So I goes up stairs and the pig is filing though my mothers jewellery box ain't he?", you laughed dryly to yourself, "Only to realise everything is sentimental and barely worth a fuckin' thing", you cursed.
Tommy opened his mouth to speak, unsure of what to say but he wanted to comfort you, even if he was a little late. He didn't get the chance as you began speaking again, the anger in your voice more present.
"I mean what the fuck did he think was gonna be there? Fucking Faberge Eggs? We're livin' on the outskirts of London for fucks sake", you wanted to clench your fists but it would ruin everything Polly had just achieved, instead you decided to throw your head back and angrily shout 'fuck'.
Tommy stifled a laugh as he watched you so desperately want to lash out, "So what did you do?".
You lifted your head back up slowly and looked over at Tommy, dead in the eyes, "I told him to fuck off and never come back", you simply said, adding, "With a butchers knife in my hand, and a pistol in the other".
Tommy took a long drag of his cigarette as he looked at you, "And people say I'm threatening", he joked.
Shrugging with a small smirk you leant forward, crossing your legs in hopes of stopping yourself from tapping them. "Anyway, he left with his hands up and then I never saw him again".
Tommy butted his cigarette in the ashtray and folded his arms, ready to hear the gruesome end to your story.
"That was until I obviously tracked him down, I wasn't going to let him get away with hurting my parents".
"Did it take long?".
"No", you looked down at your hands once more, "I found him in a day or two, moved up to Coventry .. I went up to visit him once a month— secretly of course, just to make sure he was still there and what no", you raised your eyebrows before you spoke, "And then today I decided he was finally comfortable, my threats of finding him finally at the back of his mind".
Tommy looked you over as you sat, one leg still bouncing as your thumbs rolled over one another, your bottom lip a piece of meat to your top teeth as little bits of your lipstick began to wear off.
"I'll spare you the gore but let's just say he got more then I intended to give him and now he's resting in his own fire pit", you smiled sinisterly as you looked up to Tommy. "I feel bad of course, I guess", your smile faded, "But he deserved it, and it wasn't as if he had any family that cared about him".
Tommy took a short breath, straightening his back and smoothing his waistcoat down before looking at you with a concerned look.
"Wot?", you asked as you saw the look in his eye, "Look, if you're going to ask any questions about my well being- don't .. I'm clearly fine, aren't I?".
"What about the stuff that's not obvious", Tommy said lowly, "Why are you really here? Hmm?", he leant forward, adjusting your bloodied shirt cuffs, "I'm sure you could find many people to patch you up, and better then Pol too", he joked.
"Ay don't discredit Pol, she did a great job", you changed the subject. "And anyway", you carefully stood up, standing behind your hair as you pushed it under the table with your hip, "It's easy to hide in plain sight here".
Tommy watched you as you walked over to their sink, turning on the tap and bending to drink the water. The prospect of filling and holding a cup in your bandages wasn't looking fun right now. Tommy held back a giggle as he raised a brow at your behaviour, "How so?".
You turned around, leaning on the kitchen surface, "Well not only do I just have to put some coal on me and call it day, my best mate is the leader of arguably one of the most powerful organised gangs in the country, no one would dare give me up", you smirked.
"You reckon John's in charge?", Tommy stood up, leaving his chair untucked as he walked over to you, placing his hands either side of your waist, "Is is that what he's told you".
You gulped with a playful expression still on your face, "Well Arthur's too hot-headed and you're too collected, Johns a mix of both", you half lied, just to test Tommy's patience. He narrowed his eyes with a sly smirk upon his lip.
"You don't think that", he said simply.
"Says who?".
"You".
"Well I literally just said the opposite so I don't exactly understan-".
Tommy cut you off as he leant closer, his hands subconsciously moving closer to your body as they glided across the surface edge, "Your body language", he said as if it was obvious, "Your heart".
You let out a loud dry laugh, trying to outwit him as you held your chin high, feigning confidence, "What do they say then? Because my brain is saying that you're embarrassed by my opinions".
"Well for starters you've ended up in my old house, pinned to a surface by me", Tommy took a shallow breath as he stood up straight, now his chest was practically touching yours, "Not John", he looked down into your eyes, holding your gaze, "Not Arthur, and not Jack from down the lane who used to flirt with you every fockin' chance he got".
You bit your lip, praying that no one would interrupt this, wanting to see how far it could go.
Of course you had thought about this before. You and Tommy. The way you both bounced off of eachother so well, the way you never felt awkward around eachother, the way you just understood eachother. Tommy and You. Of course you had thought about his lips on yours before, his hands on your waist- around your neck. The two of you cuddled up after a long day of running the betting shop. It had occupied the small space at the back of your mind since you were fourteen. You ignored it best you could though.
But over time that small space had become bigger, migrating to the front of your brain. And after all of your hard work getting it to shut up whilst you were back home, you had to come back to Birmingham and run into him. He had to ruin it and make you fall for his rubbish all over again.
Or maybe you came to Birmingham for that exact reason. Shit. He was right.
"No, you're in front of me", He said as you looked back into his eyes, "And I think we both know why".
"Do we?".
Tommy narrowed his eyes a playful smirk grew upon his lips, he chuckled to himself quietly, just above a whisper, "You know what your problem is?", he asked.
You shook your head a little, not trusting yourself to speak, afraid you would give in to him first.
"You're too stubborn, your ego is the size of a circus".
You furrow you're eyebrows with a gasp, "Am not!", you childishly defended yourself, "What makes me stubborn then, huh?".
"The fact you won't admit you've come here to see me".
"Well in actual fact, if I had come to see anyone, it would be John", you raised an eyebrow, "But as I said, I just ended up here and I'm glad I did because Polly is the only other person besides from my mum that I'd trust to patch me up".
Tommy returned back to his infamous imperturbable expression as he looked at you, "Why aren't you with John Boy now then? Ay?", he pressed, "Why aren't you terrorising Harry with him down at the Garrison?".
You shrugged, "Maybe", you smirked, "Maybe because you've trapped me in this godforsaken little kitchen because you're to scared to admit that you fancy me", you flushed a little as you finished your sentence, your heart racing as you wondered if this was the end of you and Tommy. Whatever you and Tommy was.
Tommy clenched his jaw, his eyes darting from your eyes, to your chest, to your hands, to your lips. "Well go on then", he stepped back, leaving you just enough space to walk away, "Go off and play with John then".
You frowned, eyes narrowed as you wondered if he was being serious, it was hard to tell with him.
You pushed yourself off of the counter, closing the gap between you both again as you stood as tall as you could. Your nose practically touching his chin as you looked up to him. "Fine", you said coldly, "I'll see you later then, after I'm done catching up with John", you quickly turned and headed for the front door before you could fall victim to Tommy's eyes again.
"And my Gin", you shouted before the door slammed shut behind you.
Damn both of your conceit.

Chapter One
_________________________________________________
Over the next few weeks, Roger looked for that girl everywhere, but she didn’t seem to exist anymore. He even returned to the stairsteps where he had saw her for the first time. He sat on the steps, looking at where he had fallen, imagining that moment again and again, trying to remember every detail about that girl.
She had been sitting on the steps, by herself, reading some book. Her hair softly blowing in wind, and when she looked up, she had the most beautiful pair of eyes. But it wasn’t her hair, or her eyes that stuck with him, it was the small smile he gave him when their eyes met. The one that had stopped his breath and tripped him up. Her smile created small dimples in her cheek and crinkles next to her eyes. He swore that if he had a camera with him then, he would’ve snapped a picture to remember that moment forever.
But no matter how hard he looked, or how long he sat, trying to remember every detail, he never seemed to be able to find her again. Weeks turned into months, Fall turned into Winter and Roger gave up, figuring that if he hadn’t just imagined the girl, what he was doing was very close to stalking. He eventually shoved the girl out of his mind and continued with his normal life.
Outside of the girl, his band, Smile, had been gaining some leverage. His mother didn’t exactly know he had bought his own drum kit, and was spending more time with his drums than with his studies. He wasn’t a bad student, not at all, he just didn’t find the studying time necessary and he’d much rather play his drums.
It was just around finals times and his studying materials laid abandoned by his desk. Roger was banging out a new tune on his drums, getting lost in his musical world when something caught his eye. It was his Polaroid. He stopped playing for a moment, feeling curiosity get the better of him. He hadn’t touched that thing in months, and he wondered if it still worked. Getting up he walked over to inspect it. It was stiff and cold from lack of use and when he picked it up, some dust flew off the sides of it. He lifted it to his eye and turned, getting a good shot if his drums before clicking the button. The flash lit up the room for an instant before a shallow darkness fell back over. He took a hold of the black film as it came out of the bottom of the camera. Again, it was blank, and he grumbled shaking it a bit.
Just as he raised the camera to try again, a knock at his door stole his attention away. He quickly set the camera and the film down to go answer the door. Brian and Tim stood outside, there was a gentle rain pattering, and both carried umbrellas.
“Hey Rog,” Brian started “You’re not to busy are you, got any girls home?” Brian looked past Roger with a smirk.
Roger rolled his eyes “No I kicked her out this morning, a man’s gotta study.”
“Sure, those drums sounded like they were studying real hard.” Tim joked, chuckling a bit.
“Are you here for some reason, or just to be arseholes?” Roger asked threatening to close the door.
“No, Rog, we were wondering if you wanted to come grab some coffee with us, take a break from the ‘studying’” Brian explained shrugging slightly.
Roger looked back into his apartment, considering getting some more studying in but decided against it. He motioned for them to wait a moment as he grabbed his coat and an umbrella as well.
“Well let’s get goin’, then!” He smirked coming out and closing the door behind him. It was dark and cold outside as the winter rain trickled down from his umbrella. He scrunched his nose as some water spritzed onto his nose. The walk was relatively short, but it felt longer due to the weather. When they arrived, Roger closed his umbrella and shook his head, sending water flying.
The coffee shop was empty for the most part, a couple groups of people and a few singles reading books or scribbling furiously in notes. Roger’s eyes immediate went to a table with a pretty red head girl sitting at it. Her eyes were stuck on him and there was a sultry smile stuck on her face.
“Bri, get me a latte will ya’, I’ll meet you at the table.” He told Brian who followed his gaze and rolled his eyes before grunting in reply.
Roger made his way over to the girl who returned to her book, pretending like she wasn’t just ogling him. He slid into the seat next to her and cleared his throat. She peered over her book at him, raising an eyebrow.
“Hey, have we met before?” he asked “Cause, I swear I’ve seen you somewhere.”
The girl hummed in fake thoughtfulness “I don’t think so?”
“Really?”
“Mhmm.”
“Well, I’m Roger Taylor.” He introduced, leaning forward.
“Cathy”
“Well, Cathy, it’s a cold day, how about you come back to my place with me and we can warm up.”
Her expression changed in an instant, her slight smirk turned into a bitter line.
“You are so thick.” She sneered at him. Roger frowned and leaned back.
“I’m sorry?’
“I know exactly who you are Roger Taylor.”
“What, I don’t-“
“We banged after your show last week.”
His stomach dropped as suddenly he remembered that unnatural red hair color. He had gotten wasted after a particularly good show last week and black out pretty early in the night. She went on.
“You said you’d call me.”
“I…um.” He scrambled to try and save himself, but she just put up a finger.
“Just save it, Taylor.” She rolled her eyes and got up to leave. He stood quickly, trying to stop her from leaving.
“Wait, it’s Camryn, right?” He reached out to grab her arm, but she whipped around and splashed her coffee in his face.
“Cathy, jackass.” She spit, before stomping out the door. Roger stood there, shocked as coffee dripped down his face, staining his shirt. The coffee, luckily, wasn’t too hot but his face was red hot. A silence had fallen over the café as people stopped their conversations to watch the encounter. He looked around at all the people, waiting for his response.
“What are you lot looking at?” He shouted and they all turned away from him hastily, returning to their conversations. Roger grabbed a napkin from a nearby table and began whipping the coffee off his face and shirt. He looked down and saw the massive coffee stain on his shirt and groaned, but, to his surprise, he heard a giggle behind him. He spun on his heel to face the noise.
“Oh, this is funny to you is it?” He snapped. It was one of the girls reading a book. She lowered the book, bringing a hand to her mouth to cover her smile.
“I’m sorry, but it just seems like you’re not used to rejection.” And she looked up at him and when she did, his heart skipped a beat. It was her.
Her hair, her eyes… her smile, all were perfectly the same, and still right there in front of him. Time froze again she her lips curved upwards and her eyes rested in a soft look, stuck on him for this small moment in time.
“It’s you…” he said quickly, pulling a chair up to her table.
She scoffed “Oh, so you remember me from 6 months ago but can’t remember a girl you shagged last week?”
He smiled at her witty response before holding up his hands “In, my defense, I was drunk.”
“That’s your excuse?” She raised her eyebrows, “You got black out drunk and fucked a girl then didn’t even remember doing it.”
Roger frowned at her bluntness, he wasn’t used to girls calling him out on his behavior. Given his silence she gave him a knowing look.
“See, now that’s why you have coffee all over your face.”
He stared at her in amazement. She literally had him speechless. His lips turned into a lazy smile and he sat back in his chair just looking at her. She felt her own face heating up under his gaze.
“What’s your name.” He asked resting his arms on the table in front of him.
“I doubt you’ll remember.” She replied bringing her book back up. He reached forward and brought the book back down, so she was forced to look at him.
“Why haven’t I seen you for 6 months?” He inquired. She smiled, placing a bookmark in her book as to not lose her place.
“I don’t actually go to Polytech.” She explained, taking sip if her coffee “I go to Ealing Art”
Roger raised an eyebrow “An artsy girl, I see. Then what, may I ask, were you doing there?”
“I was visiting my sister, and your campus is nice so I stayed a little longer, it’s quite pretty. Ealing isn’t too far either. Just a bit further than Imperial.”
He slipped her book towards him, reading the title. “The Great Gatsby?”
“What? It’s a good book!” she defended grabbing the book back from him and shoving it in her bag “What do you have against Fitzgerald?”
“Nothing, love!” He chuckled “I just didn’t take you as an American lit kinda girl.”
“Oh yeah? And you’ve gotten that from the one and a half encounters you’ve had with me.”
“One and a half?”
“Yeah I don’t think face planting in the street is exactly a good meeting.” She pointed out “the point is, you can’t just assume you know a girl after one meeting, it’s quite ridiculous actually.”
He scoffed, surprised by her candor, “What’s your name?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She smirked grabbing her bag to sling over her shoulder.
“Yeah, actually I would.” He whined, realizing she was going to leave. He couldn’t let her leave, not after he just found her “I’d really like to get to know you, and why I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you for the past 6 months.”
“Oh, now you’ve elevated yourself to stalking, well done.” She chuckled, looking at his flustered face. She pushed her chair back.
“You should come see me play. I’m in a band.” He said quickly.
She stopped for a second and smiled mischievously “I know, I’ve seen you play.”
Roger mentally slapped himself on his forehead. She’d seen him play? That meant she had been to one of their concerts and he hadn’t seen her. How daft could he be.
“A friend of mine is a singer, quite likes your band to be honest.” She continued “You’re pretty good, if I must say.”
He flashed his white teeth at her, but she just rolled her eyes.
“If you think flashing your teeth at me will get me in bed you are sadly mistaken, Mr. Taylor.” She said standing from her seat and starting to make her way to the door. Roger flew out of his seat to catch up to her before she walked out. “Will I see you again?” He asked, his eyes pleading.
“Maybe, if you ever come by Ealing. Or maybe my friend will take me to another concert.” She shrugged pushing the door open.
“Can I at least have your name?” He begged, standing behind her as she started out. She stopped midway out the door and smirked at him “That takes all the fun out of it, don’t you think?” With that, she stepped out and walked into the rainy street.
Roger stood, shell shocked at his encounter with this woman. He felt himself start to follow her when a hand clapped itself on his shoulder.
“Success?” Brian quipped shoving his latte in his hand. Roger grumbled, shoving the coffee back into Brian’s chest “I think I’m good on coffee thanks, Bri” he muttered.
He shoved his way past Brian to come sit next to Tim at the table they claimed. Brian chuckled as he came to sit down next to Tim on the other side. Roger’s gaze lingered on the door, the wheels in his head turning as he thought about how to see her again.
“I think we should go to Ealing.”

RAPID EYE MOVEMENT
pairing – wen junhui x reader genre – humor + acting major!junhui + sorta tom and jerry relationship i guess description – it’s another day and another attempt to take pictures of junhui and get a good grade in photography class. alternatively, junhui plays you once again and you remain a dumbass. warning – some not-so-heavy insults here and there word count – 3,380 words author’s note – this wasn’t supposed to see the light of day until i published the long ass introduction to jun’s route but i did it anyway pls enjoy uwu
set in the victorious universe | can be read as a standalone
“The grades were distributed evenly this time, so pairing up is going to be simple: Asshats form a duo with Bitches. Cocksuckers, get yourself a Dickhead as a partner,” Seungkwan hollers.
You frown as you see the big fat ‘C’ at the top right-hand corner of your evaluation sheet. You had a relatively good feeling about your acting abilities at the last evaluation test but looking back at it, you start to share the opinion that your performance was average at best. Some gestures were forced, your expressions were exaggerated and your voice was strained at times. It takes you a sideways glance to see that you’re not the only one who overestimated themselves this time.
“Cocksucker,” Mingyu mouths at you before he runs his fingers through his hair; an act of exasperation he does out of habit instead of letting his frustration show on his face.
It takes you a second before the light bulbs go on in your head. You wonder why nobody has complained that Seungkwan, who is the TA and younger than the majority of students in this class, substitutes letters for unoriginal insults. Isn’t this what they call abuse of power? This definitely is an abuse of power. However, nobody doesn’t really seem to mind, even the ones who passed the evaluation with flying colors.
It’s quite easy to identify the grades the other people got. It’s a little hard to distinguish the B students from the C students, but whereas the B students let a hint of satisfaction linger on their faces for a while longer, the C students are either glad they didn’t rank in the worst grade or are simply frustrated. You and Mingyu fall into the latter. Pure mortification coats the faces of the D students and everything else, meaning happiness or the just-as-expected look, are the expressions of the A students.
Junhui is an A student, so he falls into the category Asshat.
His reaction is barely visible, it’s nothing more than a slight twitch of the corners of his mouth before he busies himself in cheering up an extremely whiny Seokmin. Yeah, he definitely is one of the Dickheads today.
You admit a C is totally fine. Given that it was your first evaluation test in the past few months and it’s still the beginning of the new semester, a C is a good starting point. There’s a lot of room for improvement and–
Who are you kidding, you hate that you delivered an average performance. And with Seungkwan’s restriction that as a C student, you must take a D student for the next assignment, you hate it even more. It’s not that you don’t want to work with someone who did even worse than you did, but you had the perfect scenario planned out in your head to prepare for Professor Jang’s assignment and emerge victoriously.
You still haven’t forgiven Junhui for playing you the last time and you never will unless you get your justice and get a good shot of him for your portfolio. It’s sad how you worry more about passing the subject you’re minoring in instead of the one you’re majoring in. But it’s Professor Jang after all, and you rather resort to more unethical morals than crushing under her agonizingly high standards to even get a satisfactory grade.
If it weren’t for Seungkwan and his stupid grade restriction, you would’ve called the dibs on Junhui, work with him for the next partnered assignment and secretly take pictures of him to throw into your portfolio and shove up Professor Jang’s face, since she absolutely adores him. At least there is a tiny loophole to pass her classes with ease. Bless Junhui’s impressive history as a child actor back in China. Maybe not bless him completely though, just a quarter. You’d rather throw him off a cliff first until you get a goddamn picture of him.
“Ah, I’m fucked,” you huff and carelessly drop the sheet on your desk.
“Being a cocksucker isn’t the end of the world,” Mingyu starts and you’re quick to cut him off.
“Don’t ever, ever use ‘cocksucker’ in that context again. And no, I wasn’t referring to my grade. Okay, it has a little to do with it but I am fucked in a sense of I can’t partner up with Jun–”
“I see where this is going.” Mingyu shakes his head and adds, “Don’t break your head about photography class too much. It isn’t even your major!”
“But it’s Professor Jang! I have every right to stress about my minor. Plus, I still need my payback after that stunt Junhui pulled on me.”
“As if it was that bad.”
“I snuck onto Professor Jang’s computer and found her stan twitter and Tumblr account. Not to forget her old ao3 account where she posted Marvel and Haikyuu fanfics. If that doesn’t sound like a traumatic experience to you then I don’t know anymore,” you deadpan. This isn’t supposed to spread amongst the students because you are certain, at one point someone is going to find out that it was you who found out and then Professor Jang is going to give you literal hell.
Also, you really don’t want to recall any of Professor Jang’s writings from back when she was still a student. (It’s not that her writing was bad, but her writing fanfiction out of all things is the last thing you expected from her.)
“Oh.” is everything Mingyu can fire back with.
You sigh and focus on the problem at hand. If you can’t secretly take pictures of Junhui at a convenient setting, then you’d have to either wait for a new opportunity like this or actually resort to borderline stalking him. As handsome as he is (of course you admit that, everyone can agree that he is indeed a very handsome guy) you don’t want to stoop as low as some other photography students who really go through with the latter for the sake of Professor Jang. But then again, doesn’t taking snapshots of him without his consent also count as stalking?
No, it’s all for a good cause. One picture never killed anybody before, not at this university, that is.
You’re so immersed in your thoughts that you don’t realize someone is standing in front of you until they tap your shoulder. You flinch and look up to a smiling and visibly calmer Seokmin.
“Hey, are you still free for a partner? I mean, only if you’re a C student. I’m sorry if you’re not one. It’s just, I overheard Mingyu saying that being a C student isn’t the end of the world and he directed it at you and–”
Before Seokmin ultimately becomes a tongue-tied mess, you say, “Sure.”
A wave of relief washes over Seokmin but his happiness fades away the moment Mingyu decides to butt in. “Good luck with Y/N’s current state. Y/N will need at least a week to cool down and focus on the assignment instead of complaining about not being Jun’s partner.”
You snap your head at Mingyu, staring him down with your what the actual fuck look and hastily defend yourself. “I swear, it’s not as bad as he makes it out to be! The context in this is so wrong–”
However, your defense falls on deaf ears.
“So… you’re crushing on Jun?” Seokmin asks in disbelief. Genuine curiosity is etched on his face and there’s no trace of disappointment whatsoever.
“Of course not!” you snort and you’re pretty sure that your pupils are shaking, desperately looking for any justified explanation that is not playing his fansite for a moment. “It’s just– uh, you know how they say that he’s the best actor on campus. I thought that’d be the best approach to ace the next evaluation.”
Thank God Seokmin is oblivious and doesn’t question the obvious lie you threw at him. Up until now, Mingyu has witnessed the entire situation and this time, he’s the one who sends you the what the fuck look. He’s about to interject and expose your true nature, but Seokmin is quick to respond.
“Maybe I can get Jun and his partner to practice with us a few times. No, not maybe, I’ll definitely succeed in that.” he smiles brightly, just as if he has hit the greatest realization.
You lift your brows in surprise and go along with him. “That’d be awesome! You think you could really arrange that?”
“Yeah!” he nods excitedly before agreeing to meet up sometime later in the week and skips back to his seat.
“I can’t believe you actually managed to do that. Seokmin basically handed you the invitation to be near Jun.” Mingyu deadpans.
You send him an innocent smile and shrug. “What can I say? Karma loves me.”
You recall that Professor Jang used to write Kagehina fanfiction and her bookmarks on ao3 all consisted of homosexual plot without porn. You could care less about her sexual preferences or orientation or whatever the right term is, but you’re pretty damn sure that she’d act like one of those Tumblr stans whenever they see two members of the same group up close and personal with each other. The picture of Professor Jang’s adoration for Junhui is up to the roof (at least, that’s what you think) so if you put these two elements together, she would explode.
Honestly, you can see the appeal of it. The real question is, who does not want to see Junhui trapping Seokmin against the wall like they usually do in romance anime?
“Don’t be panicked, Seok. The love interest is supposed to stay unbothered!” Kyulkyung, Junhui’s partner, shouts beside you.
“I would like to be unbothered but it’s impossible when he’s literally breathing down my neck!” Seokmin whines back and tries to become one with the wall, lurching away from Jun. The latter, however, isn’t having it and rearranges his hands even closer to Seokmin’s head, up until the point where he slunks down and tries to escape from below.
That seems to seal the deal because Junhui immediately retreats and lets out a long sigh. “Seok, you need to relax.”
“I want to see you try to stay still with someone invading your personal space,” Seokmin mutters back as he looks over the script again. “We’ve already established that Y/N is the love interest, so why am I taking over this role?”
“I was just demonstrating how intimidating you have to be so that Y/N can pull off the role well. The love interest is supposed to feel uncomfortable but try to stay sane about it. You get it so far?”
“Yes!” Seokmin exclaims. Jun, on the other hand, doesn’t seem too convinced yet and sends Kyulkyung a pleading look.
“Kyul, can you try the lead on him?”
Without hesitation, Kyulkyung jumps up from her seat and marches over to the front of the auditorium. “You ready?” she asks Seokmin with a sweet and encouraging smile.
“Whenever you’re– eek!” Seokmin lets out a shrill high-pitched shriek when Kyulkyung slams both of her hands beside his head, invades his personal space even more than Junhui did and stares up at him coldly. It takes your best to not fall on the floor out of laughter and it looks like Junhui is having a hard time suppressing a devilish grin.
“I think I’m gonna get some drinks. This is making me tired. Anyone want something? Seokmin?” Kyulkyung instantly drops the boldface and returns to her usual, bubbly personality. Seokmin, still in shock and so close to suffering from heart palpitations, slides down the wall and only brings out a shaky nod.
“Water for him if you don’t mind,” you shout from the audience. Kyulkyung rogers that and is about to take off when Junhui says,
“Seok looks like he needs to say the light of day. You mind taking him with you?”
“You’re right. He does look like he’s about to die soon,” Kyulkyung agrees and crouches down to his level. “C’mon, let’s get some snacks.”
“Huh? Y-yeah, sure.” Even his legs are wobbly when Kyulkyung pulls him on his feet. Luckily, it doesn’t take long until he doesn’t walk like a drunk guy and with that, only two were left in the auditorium.
It’s not that you aren’t on speaking terms with Junhui, but the silence is still comfortable for you. Junhui wastes no time and picks up the script, his nose scrunching up a few times as he mumbles the words under his breath. You remain seated in the front row, your own script covering the lower half of your face. With him concentrating on memorizing the words, it’s the perfect time to snag some snapshots.
(You would’ve taken pictures of Junhui sandwiching Seokmin, but you don’t want to burden Seokmin even more and include him in your portfolio without his consent.)
You fish your phone out of your pocket and carefully let the camera lens peak over the script, your eyes flickering between Junhui and Junhui on the screen. He seems to remain oblivious and you pray that Kyulkyung and Seokmin won’t return anytime soon.
He suddenly stops talking and you hide your phone completely, feigning innocence. Junhui doesn’t pay you any attention though and rolls his shoulders back before he picks up his practice. However, this time he’s started to walk around the stage and swing his free arm around. You don’t see how in the world doing some exercises whilst practicing his lines is doing him any good right now.
Things start to go downhill for you the moment he drops the script and cages air between him and the wall. With the quick, sharp movements he’s doing, it’s pretty much impossible to take a clean shot of him. Even if it’s Junhui, Professor Jang won’t accept any blurry photograph as satisfactory. Also, you want to spare yourself from overusing Photoshop on one single picture.
You’re so immersed in holding up your script as natural as possible and simultaneously trying to find a good angle with your phone that you completely miss the presence sneaking from behind you.
“You're supposed to be practicing, not be on your phone, my dear child!”
You welp and instantly drop the phone on your lap followed by the script as you crane your head back and see Professor Yee towering above you. You’ve got used to his rather… eccentric choice of clothing and lollipop in his mouth.
“How long have you been standing there?!” you squeak and stand up, your phone and script now tucked under your arm. “Also, don’t scare a student like that!”
“I’ve got my ways, Y/N,” Professor Yee singsongs before he pays Junhui some attention too. “I just wanted to stop by. I didn’t know that you two decided to pair up for the upcoming evaluation!”
“We’re not!” both of you deny that claim in sync.
Not seeming to connect the dots, Professor Yee tilts his head to the side. “Why not?”
“Because he’s an asshat! I’m a cock–” he suddenly shoots you a horrified expression and then you get what you just said. Oh, fuck Seungkwan.
“Y/N’s a C student and I’m a got an A in the last evaluation. We decided to practice together as four with our respective partners several times,” Junhui steps in for you.
“How marvelous!” Professor Yee exclaims excitedly and drops down on one of the chairs. “I guess that you–” he points at Junhui, “–are the lead and you–” he gestures to you, “–are preparing the love interest. Isn’t that right?”
“Um, yeah,” you nod.
“Good! Then action!”
You need a while for the words to process in your brain. “Wait what?”
“I wanna see what you’ve done so far!”
“But we’re not partners–”
“Who cares? It’s not the official monthly evaluation yet, is it?”
“He’s right,” Junhui mimics, “It’s not the official evaluation yet, so let’s go through it once!”
With Professor Yee’s expectant eyes gleaming at you and Junhui’s indirect challenge, you have no other choice than to comply. Sighing, you place your script and phone on the chair and huff, “Fine. Let’s get it over already.”
While you and Junhui are slowly getting into character, Professor Yee picks up your script, flips through the pages and reads the instructions out loud with way too much enthusiasm. “Scene one, act three. Person A is completely done with B’s bullshit and decides to confront them then and there. Action!”
Junhui slams both of his hands beside your head as a sly smirk adorns his lips. “We need to talk.”
For a second, you’re starstruck. The guy just a few inches away from you is no longer Junhui pretending to be someone. It’s like he’s completely taken over the role and Junhui doesn’t exist right now. His hooded eyes hint danger and his close proximity causes goosebumps to form on your skin. You know you’re slightly shaking and now you understand why Seokmin had acted the way he did. You really didn’t expect Junhui’s acting to be so overwhelming.
But unlike Seokmin, you manage to stay in character.
“Are you serious? Get off me,” you spit out the words filled with disgust and try to push him away. He doesn’t give in though and instead, forces himself on you even more up to the point where his breath hits your face.
“We need to talk.”
You purse your lips and try your best to stay unaffected while he continues. “I don’t appreciate you doing things behind my back when they very much concern me too. I may have let it slide once or twice, but if I ever see you trying to take pictures of me in a painfully obvious way one more time, you’ll regret it.”
Wait a minute. That’s not part of the script. That’s definitely not part of the script.
Your mouth goes dry and your cheeks heat up once you realize he’s known all along. Suddenly, you feel like becoming one with the wall just like Seokmin.
“That’s not part of the script!” you scream and break out of character, pushing him away from you but that’s not enough to wipe the wicked grin out of his face.
“So what? You should’ve gone with it instead of breaking character! Ten minus points for Slytherin!” Professor Yee fires back. “There’s this thing called improvisation, y’know?”
You scoff at that lame justification. “That’s not the point of this evaluation!”
“But this isn't the official evaluation, my child.”
Beside you, Junhui can barely contain his laughter. It takes all of your might to not punch him in the gut.
“My work here is done,” Professor Yee stands up and dusts of imaginary dust of his pants. “You’re both doing a great job. Well, see you in the next lesson!”
Both you and Junhui force feign innocence until the professor is out the door. The moment the door falls in its lock, Junhui turns at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Heh, you’re easy to catch off guard. It’s even more amusing than seeing Seokmin go wild at parties.”
“Oh shut up.”
“I can’t believe you called yourself a cocksucker in front of the professor,” he snickers.
“This wouldn’t have happened if you’d just suck it up and be my goddamn model for one an hour!” you scowl back at him.
Just as if you just flipped a switch in him, you suddenly find yourself pressed up against the wall. Junhui’s expression is teasing, but there’s something else lies under it. Whether it’s pissed off or you really want to be killed huh, you can’t really deduce. Whatever it is, it’s not necessarily calming.
“I wasn’t joking when I said that,” he smiles at you. It’s not the genuine smile that makes you feel welcome, but the genuine smile that promises he won’t break this promise.
He’s about to add on to that when the door flies open and Kyulkyung awkwardly asks, “We’re not interrupting something, aren’t we?”
“Nope! Just acting!” you say and push Junhui away. At least he has the decency to play along and keep your dispute a secret.
What he doesn’t keep for himself though, is that Professor Yee popped in and how you called yourself a cocksucker in front of him.

Klance Fanfic Rec List
I’ve currently got 118 Klance Ao3 links saved and I wanted to share some of my favorites so here ya go: (There’s a Shklance at the bottom btw)
He Who Fights Monsters by magisterpavis
Words: 64,888 Smut: yes Completed: yes
This is a really slow burn fic with a captivating plot and guys. Dragons. There’s so many dragons. This author is also one of my favorites btw I love them.
Summary: In a world where monstrous dragons terrorize humanity daily, the Garrison trains valiant Knights to slay the evil beasts and defend Earth. But when Knight cadet Lance Espinosa is kidnapped by a strange red dragon who kills its own kind, certain truths are revealed...and so are the true monsters.
Dirty Laundry by Anonymous
Words: 85,042 Smut: there’s a heated makeout scene or two but no actual smut Completed: yes
If you haven’t read this do you even ship Klance? It’s the fake dating fic to top all fake dating fics. It’s so sweet and feely you’ll cry buckets and it’s also incredibly funny. I’ve probably read it like 5 times. Kinda slow burn kinda not? Internalized homophobia and homophobia from family warnings.
Summary: "Two whole months of free laundry in exchange for two weeks of being my fake boyfriend. Deal?” Keith hesitated for a moment. Was this really worth it? Hardly. Lance was an asshole, and he wasn’t sure what fake dating would entail. But, free laundry was free laundry, right? “Alright, it’s a deal.” Or: Lance makes the mistake of telling his Mom he has a boyfriend coming home with him for Christmas. Keith makes the mistake of agreeing to be Lance's 'fake boyfriend'.
Ignorance is Bliss by YouAreInAComaWakeUp (Nikanaiko)
Words: 172,675 Smut: no Completed: yes
This is probably the number one most emotional fic I’m gonna list here. There’s ghosts guys and that means characters I hold dear to my heart are dead so warning there. Pretty sure I was sobbing through multiple chapters. Real slow burn, but the build up is so worth it especially with how amazing the plot is. I’ve got quotes from this fic hanging on my wall rn that’s how fantastic the writing is. Suicide and internalized homophobia warnings.
Summary:As it turns out, learning that your house is haunted makes the ghosts a lot more aggressive. Who knew? Ah, well. At least one of them is hot. And he's the less-evil one, too, so that's always a plus.
The Message by shipstiel
Words: 132,787 Smut: no Completed: yes
This is kinda a texting fic? So lots of bants and comedy, mostly Lance cracking jokes and Keith being done with his life. It’s a really cute fluffy thing. Depression, car crash, nightmares, and mentions of suicide warnings
Summary: (4:07) okay, but considr this, and hear me out here (4:08) so like, a photobooth u can do with ur pets like there’ll be lil costumes that u can dress them up in, and u can do liek, period costumes and shit with them (4:09) omg, can u imagine, u and ur cat/dog, and theyre in a lil 1800s dress and one of those lace umbrella things omg so cute(4:15) Why the FUCK are you texting me at four in the morning with this— Keith is texted by accident by some idiot one day, and honestly he's not even sure why he responds. Or why he keeps responding. Yet somehow he finds himself drawn in, and okay, so maybe this fool is mildly entertaining after all. Who would've thought.
True Love or Something by DeerstalkerDeathFrisbee
Words: 188,626 Smut: no Completed: kinda??
This is more of a collection of short stories based around Keith, Lance, and the gang than an actual plot filled fic and normally I don’t like that sort of thing, but I’m in love with this because it’s so funny and cute and despite it having 37 parts and counting, it doesn’t get boring or tedious at all. There’s a couple angsty parts especially regarding Keith’s Tragic Backstory but it’s all around just amazing.
Summary: “So that was…” “If you say painless I’m shoving you into another snowdrift.” “Okay, that’s fair. But you got a lollipop!” “That you stole from pediatrics.” “I’m a very good date.” Lance accidentally crashes into his new neighbor in front of their mailboxes and somehow ends the night with a very attractive (and slightly concussed) date.
Mistakes were made (Skinny band nerd takes it up the ass from the beefcake football captain) by Lynn1998
Words: 50,727 Smut: yes Completed: no Last Update: Jan 31 2017
I normally wouldn’t recommend unfinished fics, especially ones that haven’t been updated in over a year but I honestly just really like this one. The smut is top notch and there’s plot, fluff, and angst in there as well. I really like it.
Summary: Lance can't stand the captain of the football team…so why is he having sex with him?
I Swear to You by AlyxRae
Words: 123,991 Smut: no Completed: yes
Bodyguard AU!!! Altean Prince Lance with Galra Bodyguard Keith is literally my favorite thing ever I love it. This fic gave me whiplash with the amount of times everything went from nice and happy to death and destruction in a heart beat it’s crazy. Least to say, lots of angst.
Summary: With the destruction of their home planet, the remaining Galra are forced to take refuge with the kind Alteans. Much darker plans begin to take shape and a young Galra solider is made the bodyguard of the Altean Prince, with orders to kill him when the time is right. However, the charming prince manages to capture the Galra's heart and ends up being captivated by the solider in return. The prince and the bodyguard are thrown into perilous adventures, all the while trying to stay together and keep each other safe.
Shadow of the Past and Ghost of the Future by wittyy_name and Zizzani
Words: 75,120 (GoF) 83,198 (SoP) Smut: no Completed: no Last Update: Feb 22 2018
These two fics are mirror fics, which is so cool. Basically Lance gets sent one year into the future and future Lance gets sent back one year. SoP is from Lance’s POV while he’s in the future and GoF is from Keith’s POV while future Lance is in the past with him. I really love this fic and I’m always checking in for updates, which come in pairs (one for each fic). It doesn’t matter which order you read them btw.
Summary: (SoP) When Lance is thrown through time, he finds himself one year in the future, in place of the Lance that should be here.He finds his team to be remarkably familiar, yet distinctly different. They have more scars, a better grip on the whole saving the universe thing, and over a year’s worth of teamwork to bind them together. But the weirdest part? Keith seems to be a lot more touchy with him. Not that he’s complaining… much. The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance’s places and restore them to their original timelines. But despite the fact that they’re still his friends, Lance can’t help but feel a little out of place among a team that’s been through so much with a Lance that just isn’t him. And it doesn’t help that the team is on edge around him, refusing to tell him anything for fear of influencing and changing the past. Things get even more complicated when they have to rely on the team in the past to complete the switch, leaving Lance to little more than sit, wait, and attempt to fill in his future self’s shoes.
(GoF) When Lance is thrown through time, his future self from one year ahead is transported to the past in his place. This Lance is faster, stronger, and markedly more mature. Not only that, but he's distinctly more intuitive about his teammates and A LOT more touchy with Keith. The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance's places and restore them to their original timelines. Things only get more complicated when the Future Lance can't seem to remember where he was when the switch happened, and he refuses to reveal anything about his own time for fear of influencing the team's decisions.
The Hurricane In His Veins by magisterpavus
Words: 249,189 Smut: yes Completed: yes
So this is actually Shklance because I don’t have enough recs for this ship to make it it’s own post and this fic is honestly just really really good. It’s probably my favorite out of everything here. It’s a vampire AU and I love it so much. The plot is incredible (the author should publish a book tbh it’s that good I’d buy it), there are some really cute moments, and it’s goddamn hilarious. There’s the perfect combination of angst, smut, and fluff and I’ve read this about 10 times since I discovered it a couple months ago. I suggest it even if you don’t ship Shklance tbh it’s that good.

A Familiar Name | Seed Siblings x Fem!Reader
Hello!
Welcome back to part 2 of The Letters Series! I hope you enjoy this as well :) The characters might be a little OOC but please consider that this is from the Seeds siblings point of view and I don’t really know a lot about them...
Attention!
Faith’s letter and the story around it is divided into two parts because I wanted to write a little more detailed. But I still hope you like it ;P
Part I
Warnings: Mention of Drug Abuse, Drug Addiction, Swearing
Summary: Faith reads part of her letter and comes across a familiar name. To find out more she has to visit the youngest brother of the Seed siblings...
The statue of the father seemed to glow in the light of the sun setting and a small smile appeared on her lips. Faith sat on one of the cliffs before the statue with her personal copy of Joseph’s Word in her hands. The deputy hadn’t shown up in the Henbane River region yet and her followers were still focused on their mission. She was relieved. Their thoughts shouldn’t be poisoned with the lies of the young police officer and his friends. The mission was the only thing they should think about. The collapse would come soon and they couldn’t risk being distracted. Unfortunately, she was at the moment. The blue envelope, which Faith only wanted to use as a bookmark, somehow made its way, into her hands. She was curious and that got the best of her. She looked over her shoulder. No one was near. She opened the envelope carefully…
The envelope contained three folded papers and an old Polaroid photo. Faith inspected the picture first. A young woman, probably even younger than her smiled into the camera, holding a diploma. The woman had remarkable h/c colored hair and her smile was so wide and full of joy, Faith could only imagine how happy she must have been. On the back of the photo was a name and a place written. Y/N L/N Montana State University. “So that’s what you look like.” The youngest of the Seed family smiled a little. She could totally see Joseph and Y/N in a relationship, and if they really had been she knew why. That woman was beautiful.
She unfolded the first paper, it was a copy of a diploma. “Master of Fine Arts, huh. Impressive!” Faith hummed in acknowledgment. “So, Joseph knows an artist.” She put the paper away and turned to the actual letter. It consisted of two slightly yellow letter paper, which gave away a faint but still memorable scent. “Did she smoke?” The youngest herald of Eden’s Gate frowned. Sniffing once again she scowled in disgust. "She's so young! How can she do this? Smoking is a sin! Maybe that's the reason why Joseph...” She didn't finish this thought.
Faith took a deep breath. “Come on, I wanna know who Y/N is! I will change the deputy but for that, I need a chance!” Then she unfolded the letter. She found the beginning immediately and her lips formed into a grin when she saw the little doodles at the edge of the sheet. “Okay, here we go.” And she started reading.
3rd of August
Dear Dad,
Guess who graduated at the University in Bozeman! Yup, it’s me! I’m finally free! No more drunk freshmen in the dormitory, no more essays, which I have to write overnight, and no more FUCKING 8 a.m classes!!! I’m so happy!
Cross that out, it’s not really true. I mean yeah, I am happy but it would’ve been so much better if you were there, Daddy. I know you couldn’t but I just think what would have been if you had been there. If you would have been home. With Mom. Maybe then she would have come...
You know, I expected that my graduation would be celebrated with both of you but unfortunately, none of you were there... You're probably asking yourself why Mum wasn't able to attend the ceremony and you have the right to know... She's currently at the rehab center in the next town. She relapsed.
Fuck, I really thought she got better. The last time she took some pills and shot up some heroin was years ago. And then I'm away from home for a semester and suddenly she's addicted again, like what the hell? What happened? Why???
Tomorrow starts the fifth week of her stay in the center. Since she got admitted I can’t really sleep. Every night I convince myself tomorrow will be different, but it never is. She’s still addicted and I just can’t handle the fact that it is probably my fault that she relapsed. If I haven’t decided to stay in the dorm for the last semester maybe she wouldn’t have shot up
And now; the worst news... The bill of her stay is bigger than I expected. And with my student bills... We're in trouble, Dad. God, I fucking hate it.
When I visited her yesterday she didn't even talk to me. Apparently, she doesn't talk at all. It's the fucking Center I swear. I just hate Estherwoods.
Faith stopped reading. Her breathing also did for a few seconds. Suddenly her hands started shaking and she had to put the letter down. She knew the rehabilitation center Y/N was writing about. Institute Estherwoods. Oh, dear Lord. Memories crashed down on her and she began to feel slightly dizzy. Taking deep breaths the youngest Seed tried to calm down.
A shout in the distance caused her to spin around in caution. She sighed in relief when she saw that the calling one was only a VIP member of the cult and not one of her brothers or even the deputy and his pack. "Faith. We have a problem..." The herald of the Henbane River region frowned. With one swift movement, she stood up and hid the letter and Joseph’s word behind her back. "What is the matter?" The red-haired woman scowled. "The deputy was seen near Lorna's Truck Stop. He killed a few of our people and then made a run for it." Faith sighed and then took a bliss flower from her flower crown on her head. "I will take care of him. I want you to do something for me meanwhile." The VIP nodded in excitement and blushed a little when the siren put the white flower in her hair. "Whatever it is, I'll do it." Faith smiled lovingly. "I need you to contact Nancy from the Hope County Sheriff's Department." The woman narrowed her eyebrows. "O-Okay... And why?" The Herald took a deep breath. "I want her to contact the Estherwoods Institute in Jacksonville. I'm looking for a woman with the last name L/N."
A few days went by and Faith couldn't even think once about Y/N or her mother. And that only because the deputy was a huge pain in the ass. Even though he seemed to be making a step in the right direction when he had jumped from the father statue without fear, he appeared to have forgotten her story and decided to hurt her and Project Eden's Gate even more. He destroyed her outposts and killed dozens of members and she couldn't do anything about it. She was expecting Joseph to call her in anger but when she finally heard her radio station crackle while she was in her bunker, the person on the other end wasn't her brother. "Faith Seed?" It was an unknown male voice. "Who is there?", she asked with distrust in her voice. "I am Derek from the Hope County Sheriff's Department. I have some information about the woman you're looking for."
She remained silent for a while. "What about Nancy?" Derek answered shortly after. "She had to flee. After the disappearance of Sheriff Whitehorse hell went loose. The FBI came and started snooping around. Her cover would've been blown up soon, so she deserted. I'm her replacement." Faith sat down and smoothed her dress. An actual surprise could be seen on her face. She didn't think that people actually cared about the deputies and the Sheriff that much. Well, sometimes she was just too naive.
"Okay, tell me about the woman." A short silence followed then Derek started to tell her everything he knew. "So the woman you're looking for was a patient in Estherwoods for a few years. Her full name is Eliza L/N and she was in therapy for abusing various drugs like heroin, cocaine and also for her smoke addiction. She was depressed and self-harm endangered. She went to various therapy sessions but apparently never got fully clean. The last records about her are from 2012 when she was admitted after a suicide attempt." Faith tried to listen attentively but memories of her past started to haunt her and she heard whispers and shouts and her breathing began to become ragged.
"Are you still listening?", asked Derek after a while and his calm voice was like an anchor in the storming sea of her thoughts. "C...Could you repeat your last words?" The man on the other side of the line seemed to realize that something was wrong with her but he didn't ask her about it. "I said I contacted the appropriate authorities and apparently Ms. L/N still lives in the same house." This pricked up Faith's ears. "And she lives where?" She didn't know Derek but she could imagine him smirking when he said: "In Hope County."
Without wasting time Faith started to get up. Her legs still felt wobbly but she didn't care. Derek told her the exact address and she almost laughed and cried at the same time when she found out where the woman lived. Or used to live. She didn't actually know if the former was still the case. Eliza's house was in Holland Valley, really really close to John's farm. So it was possible that she joined the Project. Or got killed while resisting. She didn't want to accept that possibility yet, she wanted to confirm it. Eliza must know something about Y/N and Joseph and somehow Faith also felt connected to the woman. Both of them stayed in Estherwoods.
The young woman rushed to her room, grabbed the blue envelope and its content from her nightstand and then hurried out of her bunker. On her way, she lost her flower crown but she didn't care. Faith hasn't felt so excited and nervous at the same time since Joseph chose her to be Faith. As soon as the sun hit her face she started looking for a truck. She hasn’t driven for years but who cared. She had seen how some of her members are driving so it wouldn’t attract that much attention. «Truth, you can’t hide. I’m coming for you!»
On her way to her brother’s farm, she used the radio to contact him. «John?» It was silent for a while. Then the radio crackled and she could hear the smooth voice of her older brother. «Heey, if this isn’t the siren.» She rolled her eyes when she heard her nickname. «Guess who already got a clue about Y/N!» She could imagine his shocked face but instead of a surprised answer, she got an evil laugh. «Well, you’re not the only one! I’m gonna win and the deputy will atone because of me!» Now she was the one who was surprised. «What did you find out?», she asked with disbelief. «Not gonna tell you! And I need to leave now, I’m busy with someo- something.» «Wait, John, I-« «Goodbye!»
The radio turned silent. Faith breathed out a frustrated sigh and let her head hang low. I couldn’t even tell him that I’m coming to his ranch. An angry honk got her attention and she shot upright to fix her eyes on the street again. «Asshole!», shouted somebody and she let out a shaky breath. «I need to concentrate now. I-I’m still driving…» And with that, her journey to John’s ranch continued.
When she arrived she didn’t expect to see twenty cult members just standing there on John’s veranda. With furrowed brows, she stepped out of the truck and let her eyes wander over the farm. There were some really big bullet holes in the wooden walls and the ground was covered in craters as if somebody had played with explosives. She walked up to the crowd of cult members but they didn’t seem to notice her. «I think he’s done now.» «No, no. I bet he has just begun!» She frowned. What was going on? But she found out as soon as she asked herself that. «I will squeeze every sin out of you and I won’t stop until you atone! And when you do, you will pay for everything you did to Eden’s Gate! You will rebuild my fucking sign piece by piece and Deputy, my friend, I will make sure that you claw out every single bullet in my walls with your fingers until they bleed!»
Oh. Now she understood. Her brother’s voice was so loud and full of anger he could be heard from outside. Even though he probably was in his office in the back of the house. «The deputy will be a goner once John gets him…», whispered a female VIP and the others nodded. A sort of pitiful silence fell on them. It lasted until loud footsteps were heard from inside the house and the crowd started to panic, right when Faith opened her mouth to ask them something. «Out of the way!», whisper-shouted a brown-haired man and all of them scurried off the veranda and started to act like they were busy.
Exactly at that moment, the front door opened and her brother walked out. Oh, boy. Oh, boy… John looked angry. No, that was an understatement. He looked like he was about to strangle someone with his belt. His eyes had a ferocity in them that made her take a step back. She had met people with the same gaze. And she knew how careful she had to be now. «H-Hey, John.» Faith cursed silently for stuttering. «What are you doing here?», asked the lawyer with malice in his voice, his breathing still audible from screaming so loud earlier. «I wanted to ask you something… Something involving Y/N L/N.»
Her name must have been a trigger for him because John started to calm down and his furrowed brows allayed and were now lifted in curiosity. «What is it?» Faith took a deep breath and fidgeted with her dress. Maybe I shouldn’t tell him. He could take an advantage from it… She shook her head. No, she would ask him anyway. She came this far so she wouldn’t just back down. «A woman lived really close to your ranch. Her name was Eliza L/N…» She didn’t say anything else and neither did her brother. He just scrutinized her and then turned around and went back inside without saying a word. What…? The herald of the Henbane River region just stood there dumbfounded. «Uh… Okay? That was… an informative talk.»
A few moments later came John back, in his hands five big files. «Here.» He just said and gave them to her. Faith blinked a few times. «T-Thank you…?» Her brother folded his arms in front of his chest. «These are all of the files I got when we came here and I started to purchase land. They contain information about all house owners in Holland Valley.» A surprised gasp escaped her lips. «Seriously?!» John nodded. «Will they tell me something about Eliza?» He just shrugged his shoulders. «I don’t know.» Frustration started to build up in her. «Then how are these files gonna help me?!» The annoyance clearly audible in her voice. «Just read them. And now please excuse me. I have a date with a certain someone.» Faith looked at him in bewilderment. She wanted to respond but before she could her brother turned around and slammed the door behind himself.
Asshole was the first thought which came to her mind. A long sigh escaped her lips. “Seriously? You could’ve at least let me read them inside...” Instead of sitting in one of the chairs on John's veranda she decided to read the files in her truck. She decided so out of pure stubbornness. First, she thought he wanted to help but he clearly just wanted her out of his way. Walking down the stairs and back to the vehicle, she heard some of the cult members talk. "The deputy got some balls showing up here with that airplane he stole from John a few weeks ago!" "I'm pretty sure he's suicidal... Did you see John's expression when he walked out? I almost shit my pants... He’s so gonna kill him!" So that’s what happened. The deputy attacked the ranch!
A wave of concern for John washed over her and she felt bad for insulting him in her head. Since the Police got involved with them all of her brothers seemed to be nervous and edgy. Faith could understand why. The deputy and his companions brought hell over Hope County and threatened the success of their mission.
Stil feeling slightly bad for her too fast judging she entered her truck on the driver’s side and relaxed for a second. “I’m gonna find Y/N’s mother and then she’ll tell me about Joseph and Y/N!” Determination glistened in her blue eyes and she opened the first file. She started reading...
Many, many, many contracts, ownership, and other papers later she finally found something interesting. The L/N family owned two pieces of land. One in Holland Valley and one at the border of the Whitetail Mountains. The one in John’s region was a farm. The other was a small house. Even though she already had a feeling that she would be more successful with the later, she decided to visit the farm first. She looked up and wanted to start the motor of the truck when she realized that the sun was already setting. She has been reading for hours! To emphasize this, a loud yawn escaped her lips. Faith sighed. It will take a long time to drive back to her bunker. She let her head hang low and in frustration, she banged her forehead against the steering wheel. “Uuuugh, why is it always me?!”
A knock on her car window almost made her scream. The herald of the Henbane River region turned her head and her eyes fell on John. He wore that stupid coat which he ordered online with Joseph’s credit card and in his hands were two cups. Her eyes widened slightly. A smile crept on her lips and she let the truck window down. “How can I help you, Baptist?” Her brother raised an eyebrow when he heard her slightly mocking tone. “Just open the door already and move over!”” She followed his request and scooted over on the passenger seat. John sat in the driver’s seat and handed her the cup. “Thank you”, she spoke softly. The aromatic smell of coffee spread in the truck and both of them drank their drinks in a comfortable silence.
It was weird how John’s behavior changed so fast but it has always been like that. She couldn’t remember the lawyer otherwise. When she first met him and Joseph introduced him as her new brother she had just turned 18. John was 26 years old at that time and “busy” with his job to buy more land from the people in Hope County without making Eden’s Gate suspicious. He told Joseph that in response when the father asked him to show her around in Holland Valley. It was a big fat lie. She had known that. Faith wasn’t blind and she was able to see past his stupid excuses and eventually she had found out about his and Holly's relationship. She was quite in shock. How could he do something sinful like that? She had asked herself and a mix of disgust and disappointment for him started to form in her heart. But when she found out about his parents' cruel methods of atonement these feelings disappeared. And when John suddenly turned up at her doorstep of the Jessop Conservatory blood all over his chest with the word Sloth carved in his skin and the expression of pure peace on his face and the words "I welcome you in our family" on his lips, Faith knew he was a split soul. This evening he had been peaceful and happy and they talked almost all night long about her time as an addict, her rehabilitation in Estherwoods and many things more. But as soon as he had left her house he turned into the sadistic man that he created himself, once again. Occasionally he let her see the loving John and at these moments she felt truly like he was her real brother.
One of these moments was now. Sitting in her truck, drinking coffee together. "You shouldn't go home at this hour. It's late and you might encounter a bear." Faith didn't expect him to break the silence so she was surprised when he did. His words made her chuckle. "I'm not walking home, John." He clicked his tongue in annoyance. "I know. But these animals are crazy! Once a brown bear attacked my plane. While I was in it!" She couldn't stop herself from bursting out in giggles. His rambling was just too goofy for him. "How would a bear be able to attack you in your plane??" He was in a huff. "I was still on the ground!" When he shot her an angry glare she held her hands up in defeat. "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna laugh anymore." He just nodded and stared out of the window. She calmed down and once again it was silent in the car
After a while, he asked: "Are you okay?" She raised an eyebrow and looked at him confused. "I mean with this whole Eliza L/N stuff. She was in Estherwoods... Do you know that?" Realisation hit her and she started fiddling with her sleeves. "Yeah, I know... I didn't expect to hear that name again but I guess that was naive of me." Once again her mind drifted towards the memories she tried to forget. The long corridors, the white walls of her room that were once stained with her friend's blood. The syringes. The screams, sleepless nights, Dr. Lester's evil grin when he stepped into her room and-
“-ey! Faith, are you okay?!” She snapped out of her thoughts and realized that she was crying. Tears flowed down her cheeks and she got a hiccup. John had grabbed her by the shoulder. “Hey... It’s alright...”, he spoke softly. He placed his cup behind the steering wheel and then engulfed her in a big brotherly hug. Faith's tears soaked his coat but John didn’t seem to mind. Her hands held onto him like he was a lifebelt and at the edge of her thoughts, she knew that her fingernails probably damaged the leather of the designer clothing. The herald of Holland Valley started to hum a song and she tried to concentrate on his steady heartbeat and the rumble in his chest when he hummed. She soon recognized the song and her lips formed a weak smile.
Help me Faith, help me Faith, shield me from sorrow, from fear of tomorrow. Help me Faith, help me Faith, shield me from sadness, from worry and madness... Lead me to the bliss.
Her breathing started to become normal again and the tears stopped flowing. She was still hiccuping but besides that, she calmed down. She felt still a little shaky but mostly because she was embarrassed. John hasn’t seen her crying in years and now she clung to him like a little kid. But the lawyer didn’t seem to mind. He still hummed her song and stroke her hair to comfort her. It looked like he didn’t know that she had calmed down. But she didn’t want to destroy the moment so she kept her mouth shut and just relaxed in his arms. The familiar scent of John’s cologne surrounded her and the feeling of safety made her realize how tired she was. Soon - without her wanting it - her eyes fell shut and she drifted to sleep.
“Please leave me alone! I already did what you wanted!” Her desperate shouts were ignored. The man stepped closer to her. “But my dear Rachel, you didn’t make Archie happy. And you know what that means...” She couldn’t make out his approaching figure because her vision got blurry from her tears. “P-Please dont’.... I-I n...no more drugs, please! I will make Archie happy, I will! I promise!” His shadow loomed over her. “You’re too late, Rachel.” “No, please, no! Don't hurt m- AAAAGGGHHH!!"

To Allure and Impede
SUMMARY: Marvin Lockens was fifteen when he was brought under Jameson Jackson’s wing and first started learning how to control and use his magic. Since then, he’s met Henrik Schneeplestein, the Castle’s doctor and his father figure, Chase Brody, the Castle’s Third in Command and best archer around, Jackie Bullmon, the Second in Command and Head Guard who’s always wearing red, and Sean McLoughlin, the King Himself, as well as various others. Yet, despite being with them for more than four years and proving to be a skilled mage, they all still treated him like the shy child they first met. And he was tired of it. What happens when he meets a stranger in the woods, who gives him cards to hand out and disappears into the shadows? What happens when he hides it from everyone? What happens at the Masquerade?

Next thing you know, bam over four pages of words and two beta readers to give feedback. So, thanks for reading!
Also, ill be tagging this TAI AU, and ill also make a tag list for those who are interested! Now, ONTO THE STORY!

"Why the hell can't I transfer words from my head to my mouth?!"
Marvin Lockens groaned, his checkered mask shifting slightly as he let his face fall into the spellbook. "I know magic Jamie, why can't I make this easier?" A few feet away, the mute Castle Mage seemed to chuckle, setting his own spellbook on the desk. 'That would be called cheating' he signed. "The world giving me magic and not a way to control it immediately is also cheating yet here we are," Marvin shot back, green orbs looking at brown. 'Thats......fair, I suppose.' Jameson signed back, taking a moment to think. 'But even if there were a method of making spell learning easier, you would have to learn that as well. ' "So basically, there's no winning." 'Winning would be learning the spell, Marvin.' He paused briefly to flick the checkered feline mask that covered half of Marvin's face. 'For now, take a break. I do believe Chase had something to show you.' His eyes seemed to light up. "Alright! So I'll see you later, Jamie?" 'Jameson to you, apprentice. But yes, I do want to see you after dinner.' "Gotcha!" Marvin grinned, shooting up from his desk . He waved goodbye to his magic instructor, making sure to grab his cloak on the way out. Jameson only smiled and watched his apprentice run off. Despite being 19 already, the mage in training still was as adventurous as if he was the 15 year old found accidentally burning a tree. Not much seemed to change, save for his way of talking around them and his control over magic. To this day, he was still very, very grateful for finding him before anyone else did. If anyone found him and knew what he was capable of, well, it would end in a war gone very, very wrong. Not that he needed to know. Not yet, at least. He sighed, picking up the spellbook forgotten on Marvin's desk. No, there was plenty of time before it was necessary to tell him, he thought as he bookmarked and reahelved the leather book.
Chase strode through the halls, looking out the tall windows. Four years ago and he would have stopped to admire the view. Well, that or get lost in the maze of a castle. Then again, he hadn't been in any other castle, so who's to say this wasn't normal castle floor plans? He blinked, looking away from the window when the sound of footsteps came closer. "Oh hey Jackie!" He greeted the Head Guard. "Do you know where Chase went? Jamie said he had something to show me." Jamie shrugged, readjusting the two books he was currently carrying. "I think he mentioned something about heading to the gate. The one that leads to the westward forest?" "Thanks Jackie! See you later!" "No problem Marv! Don't get into too much trouble! Oh, is Jamie in his room or his office?" "Office!" He called back, jogging off in the direction of the gate.
"Chase!" Marvin called, stopping briefly to catch his breath. "Jamie said you wanted to see me?" "Yeup!" The slightly older guard grinned, hopping down from the chestnut mare he had just been riding. "I was out doing a bit of patrol work earlier, and found something really weird and more your department than mine. Figured I should show you and get your input about it. I saddled up Sal for you already, shes in her stall." "Thanks, but how'd you know I'd be able to come with you and not stuck studying my spells?" He questioned, walking with chase the short distance to the stables. "I didn't. That's why she's still in her stall."
"Sooo.....what are we lookin for?" Tjey were both doing a simple trot, Chase leading on his mare Kit while Marvil followed on his own paint. "Well, I saw footprints earlier, " He glanced back at the apprentice. "Would've dismissed it, with this being a forest and all, but they seemed like they were coming from the castle. And since i know none of the staff like to go in these woods, I went to check em out. After a while, I reached a clearing and poof, they dissappear right smack in the middle." "So?" Marvin tilted his head a bit. "Couldn't they have just stepped on something, like a stone, to hide their footprints? Or really dry ground?" Chase shook his head. "Nope. There were stones around, but no footprints after that. And the ground was all muddy too, from yesterday's rain. Speaking of stones, they were really weird." "Weird how?" "laying ring around the rosy weird. Literally. They were in a ring." Chase deadpanned. He paused momentarily, looking around and shifting directions slightly before continuing his trot. "And you went to me instead of Jamie because...?" "I have less of a chance feeling like I dissapointed you than Jameson if it's actually just nothing. That and i still don't completely understand sign." He shrugged. "Chase Brody: Most skilled marksman, can shoot down anything a mile away...never understanding sign." Marvin teased, speaking in a stereotypical murder mystery tv show host voice. "Hey, I just dont want to say fuck you instead of hello to someone in sign!" Chase replied, going along with the tease as he spoke overdramatically. "I'm pretty sure it's practically impossible to confuse a wave and flipping the bird Chase" " Well excuuuuse me princess!"
"Is this it?" Marvin looked around, taking in the view. It seemed peaceful enough, about an acre of slightly muddy grass. A few feet away, footprints were left in the mud that moved towards the middle of the clearing. It ended abruptly at a ring of almost completely white stones, the last pair of footprints in the middle of the ring. After that, there were none. No signs of backtracking either. "Yeah. Weird, isn't it?" Chase commented, not bothering to dismount. He wasn't the mage, afterall. "Definitely. But never fear. Marvin the magnificent shall figure this out!" He exclaimed, overdramatically dismounting his horse. "Yeah yeah, " Chase snickered, doing the best mock bow he could from the back of a horse. "The floor is yours, Marvin the Magnificent." Marvin snorted, walking closer to the odd ring. He shut his eyes, and let himself sink into his magic, let himself reach out- "Wha - Hey! Easy girl, easy! Sal, come back!" A distressed Chase called out. Marvin looked back at the mares, watching his run off after being spooked by something. Chase pulled on the reins of his own, attempting to calm her a bit while also turning to go after Marvin's. "Don't worry, I'll go get her! You work your magic! " he called, galloping after the paint that ran into the woods. Marvin blinked, watching them for a moment before shaking his head. Clear thoughts, afterall. Focus. Sink into his magic. Let himself be surrounded. Let himself be aware of it all around him. Let himself feel for the traces of magic around the st- His thoughts were cut off as a sharp cry escaped his lips. Back colliding and sliding across mud and wet grass, Marvin seemed to be pulled into the shadows of the woods. The Mage scrambled to his feet, hand moving to grip the hilt of the blade that was always by his side. Right now, he was just dragged by something and could sew absolutely nothing but darkness. "they don't appreciate you, do they~?" "What...who...of course they do! Who's out there!?" He looked around wildly, trying to find the source of the scratchy voice. "You know they see you as a child." "No they don't! shut up and show yourself!" Marvin cried out, unsheathing his sword. "They don't see you as someone who they can really depend on." "Of course they do! They're my friends!" Though, he wasn't entirely sure. His grip faltered slightly. "Are they? Or are they only entertaining you? You know how he is afterall..." "Shut up! You're wrong!" Tears pricked the corner of his eyes, his stance becoming stiff and sloppy. "No one sees what you can do. What you can accomplish." Green eyes peered at him through the darkness. They looked at him, curious. "I can make them see the power you hold." "...really....?" Marvin lowered his sword, blinking away tears. "Really. Come now, I've been honest this far. Put a little trust in someone." The eyes disappeared, and Marvin felt clawed hands wrap around his shoulders, someone leaning onto their back. "....what do i have to do...?" Eyes narrowed, Marvin still kept his guard slightly up. It was a stranger, afterall. But the offer that was given....it was too intriguing. "Simple. Show your magic to the town. Your true magic, " the person purred, slipping a small deck of cards into his hand. "The townsfolk already love you for your false tricks. But, try using these. They are, of course, real magic, made to assist with every card trick in the book. And let each person have a card until there are no more. Let them have something to remember your name by~" One clawed finger continued tapping the deck.
"Will you accept~?"

I'm not sure if you take these kind of requests / headcanon so you can ignore this if you wish. How would Gladio reacting to his Crush knocking on the door, asking to see Iris so that they can get her blessing to ask him out. Bonus points if the chocobos were all together when this happened.
Judging by the stages of drafting this was in, this request is a year old. I apologize for that, but… it’s still in time for Gladio’s birthday. (Lowkey, I’m really glad you haven’t deactivated. This has just been sitting in my drafts so long. Sorry for the wait.)
Happy birthday, Gladio!
Tagging: @themissimmortal @for-lack-of-a-better-world @roses-and-oceans @nemo-ne-impune-lacessit @crazykruemel @ponkita @amicitonia @kerrtrash @tales-of-a-fallen-star @valkyrieofardyn @insomniacapples @kawaiinekorose @honey-your-bee-puns-sting @neo-queen-alinity @singergurl91 @rpglover28
So let’s take a quick moment to set the scene.
You didn’t know it was Gladio’s birthday today. You’re going over to the Amicitia household to speak with Iris about Gladio. Somehow, the details like the extra cars in the driveway and the just-barely-audible music coming from the house don’t tip you off to something being amiss.
Gladio isn’t aware that you’re coming. Gladio wants you to come, but neglected inviting you because he got a little chicken shit. (I know, Gladio getting scared of asking his crush out? Unheard of. But bear with me. Homeboy turns into a fish when it comes to something more than casual flirting with the person he likes.) So yes, Gladio wanted his crush at the party but chickened out. Welp.
The party is small, really only the bros, like two other friends from training, and his family. Everyone seems to be enjoying the pets more than the festivities, but Gladio is cool with it because his pets are better than the festivities anyways.
Iris set this up, by the way. She knows you two like each other. She’s practically bursting at the edges with anticipation. She’s been answering the door the whole night, waiting for you to show up.
Of course, when you actually show up, she’s occupied in the kitchen, helping Clarus with the cake.
Who else is there to open the door but the man of the hour himself?
So yeah. You’re kinda caught off guard. Luckily for you, you were planning on asking Gladio out right after you got Iris’ blessing (since you were already relatively ready for it, and you figured her response would bolster you even more) so you already have a gift! It’s just a small box of chocolates and a bookmark of pressed flowers (Iris and Gladiolus to be specific) but it’s still something!
When Gladiolus Amicitia opens the door and he’s covered in confetti and he’s got the most ridiculous party hat on and his shirt is just a little too small (meaning it clings to his muscles, dammit), you’re a bit shell-shocked to say that least. Still, you can take in the environment behind him and deduce that it is, in fact, his birthday today.
What are the chances?
He’s floundering mentally and so are you, but you recover from the awkward silence a little bit faster than he does and offer him a feeble “Happy birthday.” He accepts the sentiment just as feebly. He invites you in, and you quietly ask after Iris. He tells you she’s in the kitchen. You nod and shake his hand (shake his freakin hand!) and scuttle off.
You try to ignore the rest of the guests in the house as they watch you run by.
Luckily for you again, there’s both a door and a wall separating the kitchen from the living room. Only Iris and Clarus are there to bear witness to your quiet mental breakdown.
“Why didn’t you tell me it was his birthday today, of all days?” you hiss at Iris. She fakes a pout in return, shrugging and telling you that it just slipped her mind.
Clarus cuts that short with his own interjection -- Iris was the one who planned the birthday party. She’s been getting things set up for the past two months. There’s no possible way it could have slipped her mind.
“Okay,” Iris admits, genuinely pouting at her father, “You got me. I did that on purpose. But! You’ve got to ask him today, it’ll be the best present ever. He’s gonna love it.”
“But how do you know?” You whine, clutching that little gift close to you. The chance that he’ll refuse you weighs heavily on your heart… though the way Iris sighs in exasperation has you thinking twice.
Apparently it’s obvious that the two of you like each other -- clearly it’s not obvious to the involved parties. Clarus shrugs sheepishly, disclosing that he could see it too. You slap a hand against your forehead, catching yourself against the kitchen table. So… wow. You’re both just blind as bats. Okay.
Anxiety is anxiety, though, so you can’t just ask Gladio out in the middle of the living room.
You call him to some side room, albeit a bit awkwardly, and the atmosphere is so thick you swear his jawline could cut through it -- wait, you didn’t mean that -- awww.
(What y’all don’t know is that all the festivities outside of that little side room have halted as everyone holds their breath in anticipation of what’s to come.)
Well, anyways. After a little bit -- and by that I mean a lotta bit -- of floundering, you offer your little gift and you ask Gladio out. He accepts the gift, but just holds it -- he’s slack-jawed and silent long enough to make you even more nervous.
But then the biggest grin spreads across his face. With gift still in hand, he wraps you up in a bear hug and twirls you around. You’re surprised, of course, but his happiness is infectious and you’re laughing too, soon. When he sets you down he presses the sweetest kiss upon your lips, and you feel like you’re in heaven.
And then he says that you guys should announce it.
“Gladio, no, w-wait--”
“(Y/N) and I are dating!” He yells into the living room, a gigantic grin on his face and your hand in his.
Ignis and Noctis high-five each other as everyone else digs into their wallets and hands over some grand amount of gil to the two victors over there. You and Gladio look on in confusion as Ignis explains. There was a bet they all had about who would ask who first; only Noctis and Ignis thought that you would ask first, and everyone else had sided with Gladio.
You cover your face in embarrassment and Gladio just lets out a hearty laugh, hugging you and twirling you around again. (Get used to that, by the way, he’s going to do it a lot.)
You’re saved from further response by Clarus and Iris bringing out the cake and everyone singing “Happy birthday” to Gladio. He lets you blow out the candles, because “I’ve already gotten what I would’ve wished for.” (jfc gladio, you goddamn marshmallow)
The rest of the night goes on with little fanfare, though Gladio does seem to make it a point to try and get you as flustered as possible by constantly pressing surprise kisses to your cheeks and forehead. (Get him back by doing the same.)
Your first date is scheduled for the coming Saturday, and you guys are gonna take a walk in the park and get some ice cream and whatnot.
Congratulations. You’re now dating Gladio. And what does that entail, you may ask? You can find that information right here. (shameless self-promotion, I know.)
#gladiolus amicitia#gladio#ffxv#final fantasy xv#writing#happy birthday gladio!#also thank fuck for split screen computer function#tagging people would be a helluva lot harder without it#blessings.#also my lovely requester. i'm sorry this took so long. a year!#goodness.#italy-is-mine

The Secret Set-Up
My third and final gift for @purelittleblueberry <33 happy holidays!!
Pairing: Peter x Izabella
Warnings: none really
Summary: Finding a gift for Peter Parker is more difficult than it sounds. What can you get a boy who deserves the world under a twenty dollar budget?
“I need your help,” I say quietly as I close the library door, reluctant to speak at full volume even though the room is empty, save for my best friend.
MJ remains still, slouched in her chair with a book open in her lap. Her eyes scan the page in front of her, and she waits until she has finished the paragraph before her eyes flick up to meet mine.
“What?” she asks.
“I need your help,” I repeat, more urgently. I throw my bag to the floor, falling onto a seat across the table from her.
“Doesn’t everyone,” she says dryly as she closes her book and sets it on the table. “What’s the problem?”
I throw a cursory glance around the library and lean towards her. “I got Peter for Secret Santa,” I whisper.
“I know.”
I frown at her. “How? It’s Secret Santa.”
“Because I fixed it,” she shrugs.
My mouth drops open. “You… you what?”
“I fixed it,” she says, reaching for her book again. I dive across the table and snatch it from her grasp, holding it hostage until she gives me a better explanation. “I fixed it so that you and Parker would get each other, and Ned and I would pick each other.”
If possible, my frown deepens, and all I manage to say is, “How?”
She sighs emphatically. “Peter picked first, and I had written your name on four different slips of paper, so he had to choose you. Then I switched the other slips with three that said Peter when you were both distracted by Ned breaking his Lego AT-AT Walker, and had you pick next.”
“But what about Ned?” I ask. “He picked right after me—you couldn’t have switched—”
“Ned was in on it,” she dismisses.
I sit silently, staring out at the bookshelves. MJ takes the opportunity to steal her book back, and, settling into her chair, she continues, “He wants to see you two together as much as I do.”
“Not this again,” I groan, my face falling forward into my hands. I shouldn’t be surprised: MJ has known about my feelings for Peter for years. I never even had to tell her, she just knew. That’s the problem with having such a perceptive friend. She knows everything, and she figures most of my secrets out before I’m ready to admit them.
“I’m sick of you pining,” she says, attention already turning back to her book. “This way you’re forced to interact. You’re welcome.”
“I’m not thanking you.” I huff, tracing my fingers over the graffiti on the desk. “Now I have to worry about what to get him. He deserves a really nice gift, but I can’t get him anything too nice or he’ll wonder why I made such an effort but if I disappoint him—”
“Can you relax,” she says flatly. “It’s just a Secret Santa. It’s for fun, no one takes it seriously.”
I take a breath to argue with her, but she’s already been consumed by her book, so I leave the library without another word. Maybe she has a point: I shouldn’t take it seriously. A joke gift would be perfect. He’ll laugh, and he won’t read into it, so I won’t have to confront any feelings that may or may not exist. And he’ll remain oblivious until I either decide to confess or move far, far away and never have to worry about how he’ll react.
I’ve been shopping for hours, searching for a gift for Peter but nothing is good enough. Having trudged through Queens in the snow all afternoon, my feet ache and my legs are stiff and I’m shivering despite all the layers I’m wearing. I’m about to give up when I see it. The ugliest sweater in existence.
It’s perfect—itchy green wool, with baubles and pompoms attached, and a line of tinsel wrapped up the body and around each arm. Not only is it hideous, it is loud. There are bells sown into the tinsel, so when I pick it up off the rack, it jingles. I know he’ll never wear it, but I can picture him in it nonetheless, dancing to make the bells sing, unable to contain his laughter.
I can’t wipe the grin off my face, even as I stand at the register and pay for the sweater. It comes to sixteen dollars, so I buy Peter some chocolate in the shape of little Santas and a few candy canes to make it up to twenty, then I head home and wrap it all up. I add a label with Peter’s name, and try my best to disguise my handwriting. I don’t want him to work it out right away.
The next day, MJ meets with me outside homeroom with a gym bag, and I stash the present in it.
“I’ll have all the presents by lunch,” she tells me. “Then we’ll give them out. Sound good?”
I nod, biting my lip to hide my excited smile. She still sees it, however.
“Dork,” she snorts, and disappears into the crowded hallway.
The classes leading up to lunch are torturous. Especially the ones I share with Peter. He is the most distracting boy I’ve ever had the fortune to lay eyes on. In most classes, if I concentrate on the work and focus my gaze at my books, I can almost forget he’s in the room. Sometimes, in the classes where he sits in front of me, he’ll turn and give me a cheeky smile or pull a face. These are the times I find myself unable to look away, even after he’s turned back to face the teacher. I allow myself a moment, for my eyes to trail over his soft curls, down to where his hair brushes his neck and across his broad shoulders, down his back to his leg which is always bouncing anxiously under the desk. I know if anyone saw me looking at him like this, my secret would be out.
It’s impossible to avoid him in Physics, because he sits next to me and sometimes his bouncing leg meanders to my side of the desk, nudging my knee gently. I never have the strength to move away.
And towards the end of the class, he leans in to whisper in my ear, “So, who’d you get for Secret Santa?”
It takes a moment for me to answer, the combination of his scent enveloping me and the feeling of his breath on my ear just too much to bear. “It’s a secret,” I reply, eyes trained on the front of the class, in vehement denial of the blush burning across my cheeks.
“That’s how you wanna play it, huh?” he says, and nudges me playfully with his elbow. “I’ll find out soon enough, anyway.”
I do my best to ignore him for the rest of the class, but I swear he’s purposely nudging my elbow while he takes notes. When the bell finally rings I jump from my seat and start throwing my books into my bag.
“In a hurry?” he grins.
“Hungry,” I lie.
He winks at me. “It’s me, isn’t it. You got me for Secret Santa.”
“I’m not telling you who I got,” I reply, leaving the classroom as quickly as possible without breaking into a jog.
He easily matches my pace. “What’d you get me?” he asks.
“You’re insufferable.”
He pesters me until we reach the cafeteria, and we join Ned and MJ at our usual table. Then he’s quiet, but he shoots me these secret smiles as if we’re both in on some big secret. I wish he wouldn’t: my stomach is already in a sailor’s knot, which tightens every time he glances at me.
“Alright,” MJ says, unzipping the gym bag and retrieving the first present. “Ned, this one’s for you.”
He takes it excitedly, grinning so wide his eyes are squinted shut. “Star Wars paper! Thanks MJ.” He stares down at the present, admiring the storm troopers dotting the paper, before his eyes widen and the grin falls from his face. “I mean, thanks to whoever my Secret Santa is,” he recovers hurriedly. “And thanks to MJ for organising this—”
“Sure,” MJ says before he can make it worse, before reaching into the bag for another present. “This one’s mine. And Peter, here’s yours.”
Peter takes it from her and his eyes widen when it jingles. He holds it up to his ear and shakes it playfully. He smiles down at the present, playing with the strings I wrapped around it and tied in a bow. I have to look away in case my expression gives me away as his Secret Santa.
“And, last but not least…” MJ pulls the last present from the bag and places it in front of me. If I hadn’t known Peter was my Secret Santa, his blush would’ve given it away.
“You guys know the rules,” MJ continues. “Don’t open it before Christmas Day. No exceptions.” She looks at Peter and Ned sternly, but it’s not them she has to worry about.
I sit on the bed, with the present in my lap, running my finger over the edge where the paper is taped together. Should I? I sigh, knowing that there’s no way I can wait until Christmas Day to see what’s inside and deciding not the delay the inevitable. I peel the tape away, careful not to rip the paper. It feels like I have to keep it. Like it’s part of the gift and part of Peter and I don’t want to waste any of it.
The first thing to fall out of the paper when I tip the present slightly is a bookmark. It’s Harry Potter themed, with little footprints dotted around it, and the words ‘I solemnly swear that I am up to no good’ printed across the card in the familiar Harry Potter font. I frown slightly, before reaching into the parcel and taking out the next gift.
It’s a blanket, pale blue and soft to touch. A note falls out when I unfold it: To keep you warm when you’re up all night reading.
No.
This is all wrong. He was supposed to get me something funny. A joke. Not something I’d like. Not something so sweet. Dread fills my chest up with ice, and I’m chewing my lip raw as I empty the rest of the contents of the parcel onto my bed. Fluffy socks, a reading torch, chocolates, and two tickets to the movie theatre. He wrote cute notes on each of them, too, but I can’t read them. I feel ill.
All the gifts are so thoughtful, and he definitely went over the budget. I’ll kill him. What’s he going to think when he opens his present to find that horrible Christmas sweater? It’ll ruin his Christmas. And he’ll know it was me. The dread gurgles in my gut, sloshing against my ribs. He’ll hate me. Unless…
Unless I can get to him before he opens it.
I scramble to my feet and shove my shoes on, grabbing my coat on the way out. The subway ride is a blur, and I’m outside Peter’s apartment, gasping for breath, with no plan and little memory of actually getting there. I knock before I can change my mind.
“Got it,” comes May’s muffled call from inside. She opens the door, wiping her hands on her apron. “Hey, Izabella,” she beams.
“Hey Mrs Parker,” I reply, trying not to wheeze, and glance behind May. The tree is in the corner of the room, and the present sits under it, unopened. There’s still hope.
“Peter’s in his room. Come on in.”
I follow her into the apartment and she closes the door, traps me in here with the smell of baking (or burning) lasagne and the faint sounds of Christmas music playing from the radio, which she’s thrown a dish towel over.
“I’ll go get him,” May says, and disappears into Peter’s room.
I dive for the present. I don’t even think. I just grab it and run. Is this a horrible idea? Most likely. But I don’t have time to reconsider or to form a new plan because I can hear them talking inside his room, Peter’s voice getting closer to the door. I can hear his footsteps, so I run from the apartment as fast as I can, the present jingling in my hands.
“Izabella?” Peter calls.
Well, crap.
I spin slowly on my heel, trying to hide the present behind my back. “Peter,” I smile sheepishly.
He frowns, but his eyes are smiling. He walks slowly towards me, awkwardly wringing his hands. “Whatcha got there?”
I sigh, giving up on trying to hide the present. “Well, see- the thing is, I- I realised that… that this is the wrong present.”
“It is,” he says flatly, but he means it as a question.
I look up at him weakly. “Mmhmm. Yeah, this is for Flash, actually.”
“Oh, for Flash!” he laughs. “Alright, Iz, very funny. Hand it over.”
“Seriously,” I say, tightening my grip on the gift. “I got the presents mixed up. Yours is at home, and this one is for Flash, and—”
“You hate Flash.”
“What? No! No, Flash is- he’s—”
“You opened your present, didn’t you,” he says quietly as he runs a hand through his hair.
I sigh, shoulders sagging. “Maybe.”
“And you’re freaking out.”
“It was so nice Peter,” I tell him desperately. “And I love it so, so much, but—”
“You can say no,” he mutters.
“I- what?”
He sighs, running his tongue over his lip. His forehead is creased, and his eyes are looking anywhere but mine. “You don’t have to say yes. I understand, if you don’t want to—”
“Say yes to what? What are you talking about?”
He meets my gaze, his eyes narrowed. “Did you read the notes?”
“Not all of them. I couldn’t. Look, Peter, your gift was so thoughtful and I feel terrible. This”—I gesture to the present in my hands—“is the worst present anyone has ever bought anyone, and you deserve so much more. So I’m taking it, and I’m going to get you something else.”
Peter gazes at me, his mouth slightly agape. “You didn’t read the note that came with the movie tickets?”
“No,” I reply cautiously. “Why? What did it say?”
He laughs and glances down, wringing his hands again. “Well, there were two tickets,” he said quietly. “I figured you wouldn’t want to go alone, so we could- you know, we could go together.” Peter clears his throat and takes a deep breath. We could go together, on a- on a date.”
All the air has left my lungs. I can hear the ocean. It must be the blood rushing to my head, gathering in my cheeks. “You’re asking me out?” I reply quietly when I find my voice.
“You can say no.”
“No—”
“No?”
“No!” I rush. “No, I mean yes. I’m saying yes.”
“Yeah?” The smile moves slowly across Peter’s face, as if he’s still struggling to believe my answer. It seems to start as a light in his eyes, and it spreads to his lips and his cheeks so he’s beaming at me so intensely it’s almost too bright to look at him. “You don’t have to worry about a gift,” he tells me, waving a hand towards the present in my arms. “The date is all I really wanted.”
My heart is going to explode. “I um, I can do one better than that,” I tell him.
“Hmm?” he asks, brows pulling together in confusion, but that light doesn’t leave his eyes.
I steel myself and take a step forward, placing one hand on his cheek. He’s so close I can feel his breath on my face. His warm brown eyes wash over me, trailing from mine to my lips and I watch them close, before I close the distance between us and press my lips to his. I feel him relax under my touch, and he tentatively places his hands on my waist, pulling me closer.
“Peter!” May calls from the front door and I jump backwards, heart racing. “Dinner’s ready.”
“I should go,” Peter mumbles.
“Mmhmm, yeah,” I nod, bringing the ugly wrapped sweater up to my chest and hugging it. “I’ll be back with your real present.”
“You don’t have to—”
“But I will.”
He grins. “If you insist. You can bring it to our date.”
“Sounds good to me,” I smile, then I turn and rush to the elevator, because if I look at him much longer my heart will combust.

Playing with Fire | m.yg
So you summon a witch, not prepared to get burned.
firewitch!suga/yoongi short/drabble?/oneshot?
genre: some comedic aspects and idk loll
word count: 2.7k
A/N: In spirit of Halloween lol??? 🎃 I just thought he looked the part from this picture 😆
This was a horrible idea. Awful, horrendous, stupid, idiotic and every word in the dictionary that expresses ’no one should do this unless you’re that dumb’.
Or maybe a little crazy. You certainly are questioning your sanity at this point as you make your way down this back alley, alone, and not to mention at night. You’re very close to bashing your head against the brick walls, comically thinking that you would be doing any potential killer a favour as well as yourself (if you’re going to get killed because of your own stupidity, you’ll smash your own brains against the wall on your own volition, so no Jason, you’re not interested in getting dismembered and stuffed into a garbage bag, thank you very much).
But then that begs the question; why are you not turning back? You still had a chance; to turn tail and run the hell out of this shady ass, potential murder scene, and horror movie of a cliché alleyway like a smart person. So why haven’t you? Well… you know what they say, desperate times calls for desperate measures. And safe to say, you were really desperate…and maybe two percent curious because who started this rumour about a witch haunting this specific alleyway? A ghost of a murder victim would’ve been more plausible but a witch. The idea makes you scoff and admittedly makes you feel better about yourself because clearly, there’s someone out there who’s more idiotic than you are until you think, but who’s the one about one hair away from ending up on the 8 o’clock news chasing said witch rumours?
Whatever, you’re halfway down the alley now and just about two steps away from the supposed ‘hotspot’. So you hurry your pace although still keeping the sound of your steps to a bare minimum. The faster you do this the faster you can be out of here and if this doesn’t work, no one will know you were ever here.
You spot the markings on the brick wall, looking very much worn and faded and to most people, could’ve been brushed off as just random graffiti done by some delinquent. Thanks to some deep, digging in the cult side of the web however, you’re knowledgeable enough to not think such things.
Okay…. You think, glancing down at your watch: midnight. Time to do this thing.
From the inside of your bag, you brandish the necessary items that would supposedly summon the witch. First was a single black rose, one, which, from the instructions you found, you needed to burn. So with the rose in one hand, you brandish a lighter in the other. Flicking it once, a flame ignites and as you held the blossoms of the rose in the small flame, it has no trouble catching fire soon after. As the rose burns, you carefully set it on the concrete and let it work its course. Once the flower is completely reduced to ashes, you sweep the remains up as best you can to form a decent pile. You wet your fingertips a bit from the water bottle you brought and taking a bit of the ashes; turn it into a somewhat pasty consistency to complete the faded markings on the wall.
As you complete the drawing, you see that it actually forms a pentagram (of course) with smaller symbols at the five corners. You take the chance to gulp; you’re halfway through finishing the process. All that’s left was to prick your finger, swipe the blood across each fingertips and press it over the pentagram…. Oh yeah and say a bunch of mumbo jumbo. So as you smear the blood on your pricked finger to coat the rest of the other ones, you pull out your phone to where you bookmarked the magic words.
You draw in a breath and let it out before slowly, you pressed your bloodied fingers so that they were touching the markings on the wall.
“Fire in thy blood, I summon thee. From my ashes, I offer myself in exchange for your flame. Fire in thy blood, I summon thee!”
You freeze, waiting for something to happen after you said that final note. It was so quiet that you would be able to hear a pin drop and all around you, the street lamps continue to cast ominous shadows.
A beat.
And then the lights start to flicker, making you gasp as you shoot your gaze up to them. For a moment, your hand remains glued to the wall as you pray vehemently for the only source of light to remain strong because like hell you’re gonna stay here in total complete darkness.
Unfortunately, your prayers weren’t answered.
The lights dim till they die out completely, plunging you into darkness and your heart just about leaps to your throat. You don’t dare to breathe as all your senses go into hyper drive, trying to discern whether or not you should stay or get the hell out of there in a split second notice. You listen but hear nothing, not even the sound of the streets at night and you’re not sure whether that’s comforting or worrying.
What were only mere minutes felt like an eternity to you before the lights spring back to life, illuminating your surroundings and it took you a second to adjust to the sudden brightness. Your head whips around you, body pressed against the brick wall as if willing it to swallow you if it meant protecting you from whatever oncoming danger you weren’t aware of. But from what you gather, nothing had changed. Time seems to have resumed, you faintly hear the passing of cars, and you were still very much alone.
You breathe out and whisper to yourself, “Thank God… “ Before you straighten yourself up, shaking the nerves out of your system. “Well,” you continue, more to yourself as you inspect your dirtied hands begrudgingly, “that was a total waste of ti— “
A loud crash causes you to let out an equally loud yelp, making you jump and nearly crash against the wall from the force of it. Your eyes dart to find the source in panic, mind going into fight or flight mode once again until they settle onto the dumpster where something black emerges from behind.
“Oh my God!” You wheeze out, hand clutching your chest at your pounding heart. “Seriously cat! What the hell!”
The black feline only stares at you blankly with its topaz eyes, clearly not bothered by the fact that it gave you an almost-heart attack. You’ve just about had it with the events of tonight, you’re ready to just go home, fall onto your bed and forget about how stupid this had all be—
“I’d appreciate it if you didn’t yell at Smokey, he’s sensitive.”
“GYEH!” Another undignified yelp and you vaguely hear a muttered, “Aish you’re loud…” but that’s the second almost-heart attack of the night and you’re sure if you get another one, that’ll make it a complete heart attack that you would actually die from. Immediately you spot a mop of red just a few steps in front of you; so glaringly red that you could swear you would’ve noticed even if you were close to pissing yourself scared at the moment. You trace the red down to a face and double take because…. wow what a face. Skin as smooth and pale as porcelain, completely void of any blemish with a pair of sharp, dark eyes that… were currently staring at you.
Oh…. You’re staring…
Or more like straight out gaping at this man that appeared from out of nowhere. He’s watching you with a really bored, unamused look, face resting against one hand propped up on a knee from his current seat on a curb by a set of stairs. He’s dressed to impress and rightfully so because you can’t help but notice that the design on his button-up matches the colour of his hair (which is really impressive).
“Are you just gonna stare all night or can I go?” His deep timber breaks you from your thoughts and you’re left floundering for words.
“Uhh….” Your eyes glance around, unsure of what to make of this turn of events. “…Who are you exactly?”
He raises an eyebrow at you in disbelief. “Seriously?”
When your shifty gaze was his answer, he sighs and mutters more things under his breath before shooting you a piercing look. “You’re the one who summoned me, so would you hurry and spit out your wish? My pasta is getting cold.”
It takes a while for what he says to sink in and by the time it does, you’re absolutely flabbergasted. “So… You’re saying… You’re the witch?” You enunciate the words slowly as if you’re not even convinced of what you’re saying (spoilers: you’re not). The red head in front you sees it too because he rolls his eyes before getting up.
“You know what, never mind. I’m going home.”
“No wait!” You spring into action as he begins to walk off. Logically speaking, you should’ve let him but you’ve already come this far and if he really is the ‘witch’ rumours has it then you still need your problem fixed. He stops and shoots a look over his shoulder that clearly says you’ve got about ten seconds before he loses interest again.
“Sorry, I’m just…caught off guard.” You say, “I wasn’t expecting…. well actually I didn’t know what I was expecting when I did this but when people say ‘witch’, it’s usually— “
“Some old hag who cackles over a cauldron, wearing all black and a pointy hat and rides around on a broom. I get it.” He cuts you off like he’s heard this a million times (probably has). “So are you gonna state your business or can I go home?”
You steel yourself before mustering up the courage to say, “If you’re who you claim to be,” The man in front of you rolls his eyes again. “Then I wish to know my future.”
Silence; all he does is stare at you with a look you can’t read and as you’re starting to feel self-conscious under his gaze, his monotone cuts through the stifling air. “That’s it?”
You blink, “…. Yes?”
“And what would you offer me in return?”
Oh crap…. Didn’t think that one through…
You gulp; you’re so gonna regret this. “Whatever you see fit.”
That causes him to raise an eyebrow, this time out of intrigue. “So anything?”
“…Anything.” You confirm, squaring your shoulders and hardening your stare to show that you meant it. You see a glint in his eyes as he turns to you fully, eyeing you like a cat who’s just spotted its next plaything. And then he’s striding towards you in languid steps, slowly making you feel more and more like the cornered prey he’s about to pounce on. But you hold your ground; you need to show him that you’re not afraid, willing to commit and that you’re serious. Still, it doesn’t stop the breath from hitching in your throat once he’s stopped just mere inches from you, so close you can actually feel his body heat and you had to tilt your head up to meet his unwavering gaze.
You stiffen as you see him raise a hand to brush the hair along the side of your face. Your eyes wants to watch what his hand is doing but they were automatically pulled back to meet his, as if some invisible force willed them to. And you’re easily sucked in; eyes like the darkest of nights that hold so many secrets to the world and so frigid, like you’re drowning in icy waters that are only pulling you deeper, deeper, until—
“Ow!”
The stinging pain effectively snaps you out of your trance and it takes you a minute to realize that the man with bright red hair had yanked out a few strands of your hair. He steps away from you, strands in hand and a rather pleased look on his face.
“What was that for?” You hiss, rubbing the side of your head but all he does is hold up a finger to shush you in response. You watch him bring the strands of hair to eye level and right in front of you, they catch fire. You can only gawk as you watch the flame burn, engulfing the man’s whole palm and yet there was no signs of burning flesh or pain. He watches as it flickers with immense concentration until he ultimately smothers the fire by closing his palm.
“Three questions.” He abruptly says.
“What?”
He holds up three fingers. “You have three questions to ask about your future. That’s it.”
“Hey that’s not—“
“Three questions or none; up to you.”
You huff. “Fine…. Will I find my dream job?”
His eyes wander upwards before he says, “Yes.”
“Okay…” You breathe, “Will I be happy?”
His eyes trail back down to you, face void of any emotions, as he says, “No.”
The answer causes you to recoil a bit but you were determined to remain steadfast as you ask the final question, “…. Will it get better?”
It comes out in a soft murmur that even you’re not sure if he’s heard it. He’s staring again with eyes threatening to drown you once more and you felt like he’s seeing past you, right into your soul. You hate it; with just a single look he’s able to make you feel so bare in front of him. You suppose that’s what being a witch is about…along with igniting random fires without being burnt apparently (so you guess that’s out of the question if you ever wanted to get rid of him).
“It depends on how you look at it.” He finally says.
“…. That’s not very helpful.” You reply, bemused.
“I didn’t say it was gonna be.” He retorts plainly. “Now a deal is a deal. I did my part so you’ll do yours.”
That causes you to straighten up, bristling a bit in preparation of what he’s planning on making you do or give up. Would it be years off your life? Your soul? Can witches even do that? Or maybe he wants a part of your body like an eye?! Or a whole arm?! Oh my God, you really didn’t think this through— !
“Hello?”
You jerk at the sound of his voice, shoulders involuntarily hunching up in a defensive stance. A glance at the witch in front of you lets you know that he doesn’t look about ready to cause bodily harm to you. Actually, he was looking at you like you just did something really stupid.
“W-What?” You stutter.
“I said, you’re going to follow me and do exactly as I say.”
“That's— “ You immediately begin to protest because this just screams stranger danger, momentarily forgetting who you’re dealing with exactly.
“A deal is a deal, Y/N. And I don’t think you would want to know what’ll happen if you cross a witch.” The tone in his voice shifts dangerously in warning, it’s low and he speaks with a calmness that belies what he’s truly capable of, that there are far worse things that will happen to you than following him and doing what he says.
For once you’re not curious enough to find out.
You swallow hard and just numbly nod. At your affirmation to comply, the man’s demeanor eases back into the lethargic air he had when you first met him. He turns away to walk off but not before gesturing with a quick nod of his head for you to follow after him. You don’t have to be told twice. You trail a few steps behind him and amusingly, you spot the black cat from earlier trotting alongside (Smokey was it?)
“Yoongi.”
“Huh?”
Your head snaps from the cat to the man in front of you who only keeps walking at a leisurely pace, hands stuffed into the pockets of his dark washed jeans.
“My name; it’s Min Yoongi.”
“Oh…” You stop yourself from replying with your name in kind, seeing as how he already seems to know it. The silence that follows envelops you but shockingly; you don’t feel as afraid as you should be. Maybe it’s Yoongi’s undeniably easy-going attitude or perhaps just another form of his witchcraft coming into play to make you feel that way, who knows.
Whatever it was, you welcome it.
Because undoubtedly, this will be the last time you’ll ever get to feel at ease again.

A Second Chance - Bellamy Blake Imagine
Pairing: Reader x Bellamy Blake
Word Count: 1,862 words
Warnings: minor swearing
Bellamy Blake had always been a good person in your eyes. Yes, he made mistakes. Yes, he could be a bit of an asshole some of the time. But you knew he had a kind heart, and you knew he cared for everyone no matter how hard he tried to mask it.
Yet, ever since that day, you’d ignored Bellamy. Only really replying with a few short words if he ever tried to talk to you. He’d try to find you, thinking you were still, well, friendly. But you always made yourself busy.
It was the week before all the drama had unfolded. That was when your confrontation with Aurora occurred. Before Octavia was found and Aurora was floated. You’d considered telling Bellamy, but after everything, you decided against it.
And now on Earth in Camp Jaha, he was everywhere. You still had the feeling that whatever was going on between you two for the short period time you were hanging out, could still work. However he was constantly plagued by people, you didn’t see him alone once.
And you never noticed it, but he always saw you. He always saw the small smile that never left your face, he always saw you talking to the children, and who he presumed were your friends. He never got the chance to ask why you two stopped hanging out, and eventually stopped talking. He missed it, he missed you.
Octavia had seen those longing looks, from both you and him. She knew Bellamy wouldn’t really tell her anything, so she tried you first.
“Raven.” She approached the mechanic. She spread her arms a little bit out so they both could be use to support her against the table. “Octavia, what can I do for you?” She asked, looking up from her work station. “That girl over there, who is she?” She turned around and pointed towards you, her body now leaning against the bench.
“That’s (Y/N) (Y/L/N). She’s a few years older than you, a year younger than Bellamy. Why do you ask?” She said as she continued on with her work. “Her and Bell keep looking over to each other when the other one isn’t looking, I’m curious.” She admitted.
“Have you asked Bellamy?” Raven looked up, but her gaze stayed up right, towards you. “Like he would tell me anything.” She rolled her eyes, Raven agreeing. “Well ask her.” She suggested and Octavia looked back at her and thought about it.
You had moved to the mess hall. Your friends messing around with a guitar, singing a bit. And if it wasn’t them creating bits and pieces of music it was them complaining about the lack of privacy, or some stupid conspiracy theory they’d thought up just because they were bored. You were to the side, just peacefully reading a book, but still taking in every word they said.
She wasn’t going to lie to herself, she was a little scared going up to a group a few years older than her, but she did it anyway.
“(Y/N)?” She approached. The whole group turned towards her, it went quite. “Uh, yeah. How can I help you?” You spoke up, to say you were a little taken aback was a bit of an understatement.
“I’m Octavia, do you mind if I talk to you for a minute.” She said still calm. You were surprised, and then realised who she was, and nodded. “Of course.” You placed a makeshift bookmark in your book and stood up, stepping out of the connected table and chair walking away with her.
“I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who’s noticed this, but my brother and you keep stealing glances of each other, and I’m just curious.” She came out full steam ahead, and it was another thing you took by surprise.
You were’t the best with confrontation, and you were definitely getting a dose of it lately. “Oh, that.” You awkwardly looked down at your hands. “Look it’s nothing to worry about, if it really bothers you- I mean I didn’t mean for to be creepy, looking back it probably looked really creepy, but it wasn’t my intention.” Babbling was a talent of yours.
“Wait a minute.”
“Octavia, get behind the door.” Aurora commanded. She didn’t think there were any surprise inspections, and it didn’t exactly sound like a brute guard knock. When she opened the door to only a dainty brunette sherelaxed. “Oh, good evening Mrs Blake.” You smiled.
“(Y/N)? what do you want?” She asked with a tight jaw, she was never fond of your family. The way they abused every right they had, and even ones they thought they had. Your family wasn’t ark royalty, but in the stations, your parents, no matter the cost, did everything they could to climb the pretend social ladder. However, what Aurora didn’t know was that even though they did whatever they could to get up in the world of the ark, they always left you behind, to fend for yourself.
“I was wondering if Bellamy was in?” An innocent question. Aurora clicked, it had been you Bellamy had been spending all his free time with. No wonder he was always late, or taking later guard shifts for when she was home so he could go hang out with you.
“No, he’s not.” She replied almost in an disapproving matter. “And, I’m going to be honest with you (Y/N). Don’t come past here again.” She spoke seriously.
You were speechless, it wasn’t something you expected to come out of her mouth. But she was protecting her family, and apparently you weren’t the influence her son needed.
“You’re going to leave my son alone, he’s got better and more important things to do and doesn’t need to be distracted, especially not by you.” Aurora stood firmly in her door frame.
“Uh, yeah.” You nodded. You felt like a babbling idiot. “Enjoy the rest of your night Mrs Blake.” You stammered before walking away. Embarrassed, in this moment would’ve been an understatement. You hurried back to your shared apartment before anyone could even see you.
You thought that maybe Bellamy would’ve been that constant happiness in your life, but now, maybe not.
“(Y/N)! You’re back!” Dom, your flat mate spoke, desperately trying to clean the place up before you got home. “And the flat isn’t clean. Are we playing that game again where we say how things are around us?” You sassed and he had a sheepish look on his face. “Well I only tried so hard because you said there was a possibility of you and your boy toy coming home.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
“Yeah.” You begun to trail off. “That’s not exactly happening - ever - anymore.”
“But Bellamy is so good looking.” He dramatically draped himself sadly across his bed, causing you to laugh. “Was Bellamy for me or for you Dom?” You laugh.
“I would be more than happy to take your sloppy seconds. Especially if those sloppy seconds were Bellamy Blake.” He batted his eyelids dramatically.
Meanwhile, Aurora had closed the door and summoned for Octavia to come out. “Why’d you tell her to stay away mum?” She asked, as Aurora went back to braiding her hair. “Bellamy doesn’t need a girl like her in his life. I’m doing what’s best for him.”
“You came past the apartment that one time.” She connected the dots. “Yeah,” you nodded. “The one time, because it was made very clear that I wasn’t welcome at your apartment.” You went back to playing with your fingers.
“She was only doing what she thought was best for Bellamy.” She defended her mother. “Oh no, I’m not- I’m not saying that it was nor wrong or right what she did. She’s-” you paused for a moment, “she was his mother, your mother. I had no intention of disobeying her.” You tried to get your point across.
There was a silence between the two of you. A bit awkward but not until you interrupted it. “However, I do sometimes wonder what may have happened if I did disobey her.”
“He used to tell me what you guys did when you hung out. When he told me about the ark, you’d always be in there some where.” Octavia chuckled and she saw how your eyes lit up, the corners of your mouth twitched ever so slightly.
“You never told him, did you?” She asked you.
“I know what it’s like to have shitty parents, or have your parents do a shitty thing. Your mum wasn’t like that. And even if I did, I wouldn’t have had the time. I wouldn’t want to tell him when your mother couldn’t defend herself. No one should have their memory of their parent tainted like that.” You admitted. She felt like she knew you more, she felt like you sincerely cherished and still do, what ever you a Bellamy had.
“I have an idea.” Her face lit up, and she grabbed hold of your hand. Your eyes widened as she begun running and dragging you down the hall. “Octavia, what are you doing?” You seemed to yell above the chaos.
“Bellamy!” Octavia yelled as she saw her brother talking to Clarke. You both came to an abrupt stop, you puffed and trying to catch your breath. “That was not cool dude!” You continued to huff.
“(Y/N)?” He asked, confused. You looked up, gave a short wave as if you were putting your hand up for attendance and went back to huffing.
“Can I borrow you for a second Clarke? Thanks!” She said and dragged Clarke away. So it was just you two. “You okay?” He asked a bit surprised. “Your sister, made me keep up with her, practically dragging me all the way from the mess hall.” You said standing up and still puffing.
Bellamy was trying to suppress a laugh as he saw your poor figure. “How did she even run that fast, or am I just that unfit?” You asked, and he couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Thanks for your sympathy Bellamy, we all can’t have the athletic build of you.” You chuckled with him, motioning to his torso, up and down.
“What were you doing with my sister?” He asked, still a smile on his face from his laughing.
“She’s the one who approached me. She just wanted to talk.” You said, finally regaining a steady breathing pace. “About what?”
“Oh well you see, uh well, it’s just that, um-” You closed your mouth before you could say anything else. “Interesting choice of topic you two choose to talk about.” He commented, causing a small laugh to escape your mouth.
“So, uh, I was wondering something actually.” He began, and you nodded of him to continue. He scratched his neck nervously before continuing. “Uh, are you free tonight? For a drink maybe?”
Before you could answer Clarke came back. “Bellamy, we need to go now, the inquisitions over.”
“Mess hall, after rations. Don’t be late Blake.” You began walking back in the opposite direction. Whether the truth came out or not, you were willing to give it another try.
