Trunk (October 6th)
word count: 411
@wolfstarmicrofic
Remus shakes his hand. “There is no way I’m ever admitting any of that.” He’s feeling warm and happy and like everything is strangely okay in the world. Gryffindor has just won a Quidditch match (Remus scored more than he did the entirety of last season) and there’s a party in the common room and this is usually not Remus’ scene but he’s having fun.
Also, Sirius likes him.
“Why not?” Sirius asks, looking absolutely gorgeous. His hair is still a little damp from the shower he took after the game (Sirius also had a really good game– all of them did. Go Gryffindor!) and it’s getting frizzy around his ears. Sirius is sitting close next to Remus on one of the common room couches and he's talking in Remus' ear so that he can actually hear him through the noise all around.
“It’s embarrassing,” Remus says. “I did some really embarrassing things when I had a crush on you.”
Sirius shrugs, grinning. “So did I. I carved our initials together on every single desk I’ve ever sat on and on a thousand tree trunks and even on one of the shelves in the library back home.”
“Cute,” Remus says. “I was the one that wrote you that anonymous love letter in Third Year.”
Sirius’ eyes widen. “No!”
Remus laughs. “I told you. I was crazy.”
“You weren’t crazy,” Sirius says. “And I adore that love letter. It’s so romantic.”
Remus makes a face.
Sirius grins. “I love it ten thousand times more now I know it’s from you.”
Remus coughs. He drinks from the butterbear bottle he's holding because he suddenly feels like he has to do something with his hands.
“You had a crush on me in Third Year?”
Remus flushes. He smiles and says, “No.”
“Sure, Moons.”
“When did you like me?” Remus asks.
“I’ve always liked you,” Sirius says automatically. He blinks. “Oh, you mean when– Fourth Year, I think.”
“Really?”
Sirius nods. “I remember specifically after we spent winter break at the Potter’s it just dawned on me all of a sudden and I was like, ‘oh’. It was all so confusing.”
Remus chuckles. “I can imagine.”
The next morning, when Remus wakes up, there is a floating pink letter right in front of his face. There are small, heart-shaped clouds flying around the letter and near Remus’ head and all over their dorm room, really. Remus beams when he realizes who the letter is from.

Folklore (October 5th)
word count: 819
@wolfstarmicrofic
“This is so unlike her!” Harry says, rubbing his eyes. His hair is a mess and he looks incredibly stressed. Harry, Sirius, and Remus are sitting around the Potters’ kitchen table.
“That is the joy of being fifteen, isn’t it?” Sirius asks. “Trying to figure out who you are and being unbelievably stupid in the process?”
“I don’t remember that part really well.”
“We do,” Remus says, grinning. Sirius grins as well. “I remember you being fifteen and stupid so well.”
“Not reporting a scum teacher or even just telling us about it, for example,” Sirius says. “While Remus worked at the very same school. What were you thinking, babe?”
“Creating an army as an after school club.”
“Let’s not even get into the ‘everyone hates me and I hate everyone’ winter phase because that was–”
“Okay, okay,” Harry says, thumping his head on the table. “I get it,” he mumbles.
Remus looks at Sirius and laughs. He clears his throat. “This isn’t such a big deal, Harry, love. You’re a good dad. And Lily’s a lovely kid.”
Harry groans. “Well, she doesn’t like me all that much right now. She’s grounded.”
Sirius whistles. “You had the heart to ground Lily?”
“You horrendous human being,” Remus comments.
Harry’s head hits the kitchen table once again. “I feel horrible about it, but she did run away from Hogwarts.” His voice is muffled. He raises his head. “Do you think I’m being too harsh with her?”
Remus just smiles. Sirius says, “Oh, yes. You’re horrible. How could you–”
“We’ll go talk to her, okay?” Remus says, cutting Sirius off.
“Please,” Harry says. “Thank you guys. Love you.”
“Boohoo, Harry.”
“Do they tell you everything?” Lily Luna says when she opens her bedroom door.
Sirius flicks her forehead. “Hello to you too, Lily, love.” He enters her room, Remus closely behind.
“Hi, Remus,” Lily says. She slams the door behind them.
“Ouch. What did the poor door do to you?”
“Remus gets a ‘hi’ and I don’t? I see how it is, Flora.”
Lily sighs, all melodramatic and angsty, and sits on top of her desk. Sirius sits on the edge of the bed and Remus on the desk chair.
“I know what I did was irresponsible and I won’t do it again, okay?” Lily talks as she does something on her computer.
“And you sound so sincere,” Sirius says.
Lily rolls her eyes. She looks at Remus then at Sirius. “I missed you guys. Do you want to listen to music with me?”
Sirius smiles despite himself. “Awe, Lavender, love, we’ve missed you too.”
“What are you listening to?” Remus asks.
“Sad music, mostly” Lily says, grinning. “I’m sulking.”
“You’re sulking?” Sirius asks. “You ran away from Hogwarts and skipped classes and got a tattoo. Poor Harry’s having an existential crisis. He should be sulking.”
“I didn’t get a tattoo,” Lily says.
“I know. Sirius winks. “I just wanted to make you sound cooler than you actually are, Daisy.”
Lily sighs. “I just walked around muggle London for a little while. Had coffee. And also, there was this fairy circle in someone’s front porch that I just had to sit in.” Lily pauses. “Even though now I remember Trelawney telling us not to do that when we were going over different Folklore stories. What do you think happens to people who sit in fairy circles?”
“I guess you’ll find out, won’t you?” Remus says lightly. “And we’re not saying that the things you did after sneaking out were wrong. Though the trespassing and angering fairies is a little questionable I think. We’re more worried about the sneaking out part itself.”
“Your dad went nuts. Ginny nearly brought Hogwarts to the ground looking for you.”
“We were worried, too,” Remus says. “We didn’t know if you just ran off or if something had happened to you.”
Lily bites her lips and looks down. “I am sorry. I didn’t mean to– I mean, I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I just wanted to get away for a little while.”
“And that’s okay, Jasmine, babe,” Sirius says. “Hell, just floo to our house next time. Or at least tell someone where you’re going. Albus or James or whoever.”
“So we know that you’re safe,” Remus adds. “Also– so that Harry doesn’t go gray so soon.”
“He’s already going gray,” Lily mumbles.
Sirius chuckles. “I can’t argue with you there, Hydrangea.”
“That’s not even a name,” Lily says. “And– I am sorry. I’ll talk to dad before I go back to Hogwarts tonight.”
Remus looks at Sirius then at Lily, and he smiles. “Thank you, Flower.”
“Oh, Merlin, not you too, Remus.”
Sirius laughs. “Go talk to your dad now, Marigold.”
“Will you take me to get a tattoo when I decide that I want one?” Lily asks as she gets off the desk.
“We’ll think about it, Dahlia. Now go away.”

The fateful conversation at Peter's kitchen table - a wolfstar microfic
@wolfstarmicrofic - October 4: spy - words: 382
Once again Sirius found himself at Peter's kitchen table. He'd talk to James, but he had his baby and wife. He'd talk to Remus, but… it was complicated. He was either away on a mission or, whenever he wasn’t, acting distant and suspicious. Not that Sirius didn't end up in his bed more nights than not, anyway.
With so much going on and so little being certain, at least Peter always had some good snacks to spare and an ear to lend. This time he even pored them each a glass of fire whiskey.
“So, they’re making you secret keeper?”
Sirius smiled crookedly. “That’s supposed to be a secret. It’s in the name and all.”
Peter shrugged. “Kind of obvious, though. You’re brave.”
Sirius looked down at the amber liquid he was swirling in his glass. “I’d die for them. You know that.”
“Yeah. I would too. But still, putting yourself on the line…”
Weren't they all? But he guessed Peter was right. It did put him in a key position. And if it was so obvious as Peter stated maybe that wasn't so wise?
"How is Remus?" Peter suddenly asked.
Sirius shrugged. "This war is hard on him."
Peter nodded sympathetically.
"Do you think he..."
Sirius ran cold, bracing for the question he didn't want to think about.
"Maybe we should confront him, or test him somehow, before we tell him you are the secret keeper?"
"He already knows." Sirius' voice rasped.
"Oh. I'm not saying..." Peter raised his palms in surrender, "I just. I can see it too, how hard this is on him. Now we're putting another secret on him to protect."
If Remus was the spy Sirius of couse wanted him to burn in hell for that. So maybe they should find a way to test his loyalty? The problem was Sirius didn't wa t things to change. Wanted Remus' arms there for him to crawl into in the darkness. So maybe he was the one with faulting loyalty?
Anyone else he was confident he could handle. But if it was Remus who started asking the wrong kind of questions, would he be able to shut him out the way he was supposed to?
Sirius sighed. "Maybe there is another way."
"Yeah?" Peter eagerly leaned closer.

Romantic Moonwater but instead of them meeting and bonding in the library like usual: it’s a half horror, half grossly sappy romance that switches point of views between Remus who believes he’s being actively hunted by a stranger who knows his furry little secret. And regulus, who is experiencing a crush for the first time (full stop, honestly) and has no idea how to admire people in a normal way, making himself the worlds most harrowing secret admirer

Spy (October 4th)
word count: 701
@wolfstarmicrofic
“How did you even convince me to do this?”
“Excuse me?” Sirius shrieks, then he remembers where they are and covers his mouth with his hands. “Shit. Sorry. But as if! All I did was kind of barely suggest doing this and you ran with it,” He whisper-yells.
“You would never see me be up to something like this before,” Lily whispers. “You are the worst influence. I mean, I’m in a coat closet eavesdropping on– on–”
“The love of your life?” Sirius grins.
“Oh, sod off!” Lily’s eyes widen at how loud her tone is and she also covers her mouth. “Do you think they heard us?”
“I doubt it.”
“How are you so calm about all of this?” Lily asks. “What if they need something from this closet?”
Sirius shrugs. “I mean, this is nowhere near the worst thing Remus and James have caught me doing. We could pretend to make out, if you’d like?”
“What?”
Sirius is having so much fun. “Would you prefer to make out for real, Flower? Because I really wouldn’t mind all that much and I think it would make both our boys jealous as fu–Ouch!”
Lily pinches his forearm hard. “In your dreams, Starboy.”
“That hurt,” Sirius says, rubbing his arm.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Lily asks.
Sirius shrugs. “I’m not that sure, actually, Flower.”
“I feel dirty.”
“Dirty?”
“We shouldn’t be here. I’m in your dorm room! I’m in your closet.”
“Which has the best soundproof walls in the history of closets, apparently,” Sirius says. “If it makes you feel any better, we didn’t even hear shit, Rouge. We might as well never have been here in the first place.”
Lily sighs the biggest sigh in the universe. She sits on the floor of the closet against a wall and Sirius sits next to her.
Sirius looks at her closely. “So, when did this happen?”
“What?”
“When did you finally admit to yourself that you liked James?”
Lily just stares at him. “We’re not having this conversation.”
“Why not? We’re stuck in this stuffy closet together until Remus and James decide to leave the dorm. We can’t even hear what they’re talking about. We were pathetic enough to try and spy on the people we like instead of doing something like, I don’t know, asking them out. It’s humiliating.” Sirius blinks. “Let’s pass the time.”
“You tell me first.”
“Tell you when I realized I’m in love with James?” Sirius asks, grinning big. “Well, it almost feels like I’ve been in love with him from the moment we met on that Autumn morni– Ouch! Would you stop doing that?”
Lily is also grinning. “Remus. Tell me when.”
Sirius thinks for a moment. “I always knew I loved Remus. As a friend, I mean. He’s the easiest person to love. I think I realized I loved him in a quite different way in Fourth Year, maybe?”
“How?” Lily asks.
“I’m not saying, Ginger.”
Lily flips Sirius off and he’s about to do the same when they feel more than hear the dorm room door slam shut.
“Do you think they left?” Lily asks.
“I think so.”
“Go check.”
Sirius scoffs. “Why me?”
“Because it makes more sense. It’s your dorm.”
“Sure. Because I spend all my time in our coat closet. How absolutely normal and not a cause of concern at all–” Sirius opens the closet door. He turns back to look at Lily. “Shit.”
Lily looks horrified. Sirius can’t keep up his act for long. He laughs. “The coast is clear, 007. You can get out of her– Fucking hell, Lily, ouch!”
“You deserved that,” Lily says, stepping out of the closet. “This room is so much cleaner than I thought it would be.”
“Yeah? We’re not gross, Lily, it breaks my heart that you–”
“You tell anyone about what happened here and you’re dead, Black.”
“Jeez.”
“Goodnight, Lovely.”
“Leaving so soon?” Sirius asks, sitting on his bed. “I feel so used. Why would you throw me aside this quic– motherfucker!”
Lily hexes him from the door. She winks at him and leaves. Sirius realizes that he had so much fun. He should hang out with Lily more often.

i think it's nice how in most remus x someone ship names i see, it's always moon___. the only one that's not is wolfstar. sirius is the only one who gets the wolf, something nobody else gets to see. everyone else gets the calm, ever-present moon.

Bonfire (October 3rd)
word count: 512
@wolfstarmicrofic
“Wow.”
“You do know a spot, Remus.”
“How did you even find this place?” Sirius asks, eyeing Remus curiously.
Remus coughs. “I just found it one time. I like to walk.”
“In the Forbidden Forest?” asks Peter, setting his bag and what is hopefully a big enough tent for all of them against a tree.
“Sure,” Remus says.
“This is beautiful,” Sirius says. “The lake water is so clear.”
“I’d love to take someone on a date here,” James says.
“Do let us down gently, James,” Sirius says, pinching James’ forearm.
“You know what I mean!”
“Sure,” Remus says again. “Let’s start a bonfire to keep warm. And no magic.”
“What?” James asks.
“You said you wanted to camp in the Forbidden Forest for a night like muggles do, yes?”
James nods.
“Part of the camping experience is that it has to suck a little bit.”
Peter nods his head, but both James and Sirius stare at Remus funny.
“Suck a little bit?” James repeats.
“More like suck a lot-a-bit,” Peter says. “I remember camping with my cousins once and it was appalling. We almost got eaten by a bear. Thankfully, there are no bears here.”
“Only much worse creatures,” James says softly. “Whose idea was this, again?”
“Yours,” Remus says.
“After you saw that camping advert in that muggle magazine you stole from Lily, remember?” Sirius says.
“I gave it back. That’s not stealing.”
Sirius snorts. “Okay.”
“Let’s get everything in order before the sun completely sets,” Peter says.
“Yes, that’s smart,” Remus says, picking up their tent. “Someone help me set this up and the other two can–”
“I want to set up the tent with you,” Sirius says, then flushes. “I mean–”
“Sure,” Remus says for the millionth time, feeling his neck heat up.
“Anyway,” James drawls, grinning. Remus is going to smack him. “Let’s go collect some wood for the fire, Pete.”
Sirius smiles as he walks closer to Remus. He takes the not-yet tent out of Remus’ hands and starts eyeing it carefully. “Do you know how to get one of these up?”
Remus nods. Then he coughs. “I mean, we have the instructions manual over there so how hard can it really–”
“I’d love to take you on a date here,” Sirius says suddenly. “We could go swimming.”
Whatever the thing between Remus and Sirius is, it’s new and fragile and Remus holds it protectively close to his heart.
Remus smiles, meeting Sirius’ eyes. “I don’t know how to swim.”
“No.”
Remus nods. “Yeah.”
“I can totally teach you how to swim.” Sirius pauses. “Take off your shirt.”
Remus laughs. “Yeah, sure.”
Sirius laughs as well. “Okay, that wasn’t too forward at all. Maybe next time?”
Remus is about to respond when Peter and James come back with way too much firewood. He grins at Sirius and mentally puts a pin in it. Everything is new and exciting but Remus reminds himself that it’s not going anywhere. They have so much time and that makes him feel a type of pure elation he can barely describe.
