this feeling is my biggest indicator that i need to take a break. if i try to force it, then i end up even more frustrated than i already am, and i will butcher my works with deletion and over-correcting

once i’ve noticed this feeling starting to creep in, i put everything away. now it’s time to play video games, read, nap lots, and basically do literally anything else other than write. i refuse to even open the document (it’s a slippery slope). if i do have a burst of inspiration during my break, i don’t stifle it. i will open a separate document or send myself an email, but that main document is not being opened.

my breaks are typically a week long at the very least. but they can run longer, there’s no timeline for this. it’s purely vibes

since i started writing again at the end of last year, my gameplan has been simply vibes. we vibing, we having fun. as soon as it stops becoming fun, that’s when we know it’s time to take a step back.

get a snack, change up your workspace, nap real hard, do nothing at all, watch a show, daydream, play a game, start a new work or revisit an old one. got another hobby? sky’s the limit, vibe with something else for a time

the most important thing though is to not delete anything while you’re in this sort of mood. if you feel like chopping, open a new document and shove all the shavings in there. don’t. delete it. please

it might be awful. or you might just think it’s awful. regardless, you’re not in a good headspace to make such decisions. you need to come back to it with a clear head and an open mind, then you can decide what actually needs trimming

with that said, it sounds like burnout to me. take it easy, doctor’s orders lol

that’s my two cents. i hope it’s even just the tiniest bit helpful. writing is all for fun, all for the love of storytelling and creation. whether you are writing fanfic or writing to be published, burnout is a very real thing that requires gentle care, or it’ll only get worse. and that would be no fun at all

writing is strenuous on the brain. you are crafting an entire world from nothing. it’s exhausting and it can take a toll. even athletics need downtime

Tried to read, then tried to write. I can write some which is an improvement somewhat. But...i don't feel it(?)

I write continiously a while ago but I notice my writing feels bland and doesn't feel right. I just explained facial expressions when they react at something, but it doesn't feel enough. Like it's bad. And that's making me stop writing it. Again.

I have an idea how I want this story in my head which motivates me to finish this. But I feel like I'm shit at writing things that I don't know what to do.

What do you do in this situation? When your writing becomes bland or doesn't sound 'right'? Should I just keep writing it despite it sounding like shit? I am writing down things about my characters, thinking maybe that will get me going--I hope.

Dottore has never truly felt that anything he saw was worthy of the praise "beautiful". No, nothing. Sure, there are things he finds pleasing to the eye, whether it's the pages of perfectly compiled notes and research he's finally finished, or the results of his latest experiment that appear to be successful, but they're not something he'd call "beautiful." Therefore, surprisingly enough, Dottore finds himself a bit interested in the word "beautiful." No, it's not something he thinks about very often really, but when he hears someone mention it offhandedly, he finds himself thinking about it. What makes something "beautiful"? It's another matter of "perspective", he decides. His perspective is different from others, so he cannot see the supposed beauty in the things they do.

It takes a long time for him to find beauty in something. Even when he meets you, it's no different. You're nothing special to him, much less "beautiful." His perspective hasn't changed... not yet at least.

But when Zandik realizes you are beautiful, it hits him like a truck. It takes years of bonding, of closeness, of everything in a friendship. He realizes you're beautiful when you aren't even dressed up, in fact, your Akademiya uniform is dirtied like his from digging around the ruins for so long. Your hair is a bit tousled, eyes a bit tired, but there's a large smile stretched on your lips as you laugh like there's no tomorrow at something he said. Zandik isn't particularly looking for a word to describe how you look, but he idly thinks the word "beautiful." Wait, beautiful? Did he just think the word beautiful, without even thinking about it? His conflict clearly shows on his face, and you worry for him, but he quickly brushes you off and practically ignores you for the rest of the expedition. (Poor you, always having to deal with his mood swings.) He just can't accept this. Out of all the supposed beauties Teyvat has to offer, you're what he finds beautiful? But once the idea has been planted in his mind, he can't get it out. You're beautiful.

Now that he looks back on it, realizing your beauty was probably one of the biggest indicators that he fell in love with you. His old self was just full of denial. Centuries later, even though you may not look the same as you did back then, Dottore can say with his full confidence, that you are truly the most beautiful thing in this world.

The idea of reader not fearing Dottore at all is so funny to me😭😭 esp. when they come to scold him, probably happens often because he just! refuses! to rest!

Every time this happens fatui soldiers drop whatever they're doing just to look observe you two, it's not every day you see someone giving a lecture to a 2nd ranked harbinger! even Dottore's own segments do the same

I think fatuis who work under Dottore will still fear them, but less when you're here. More to be said - if something happens to Doctor, you're the first person they come to

Look, if you want to kiss the crazy doctor man, you gotta match the crazy doctor man's energy. Which means you have to be able to stand your ground throughout it all. Nothing new for you though since this has been happening for several hundred years 😀 You try not to do it in front of other people but sometimes things have to be said. The Fatui just have to make sure they don't outwardly react to your statements otherwise they probably won't see the light of day again.

The regular Fatuis do admire you a lot, simply because of your incredible ability to speak to their Harbinger like that with no consequences lol, they've already pieced together what your relationship with him is and they find you fascinating yet also kinda terrifying at the same time, because how did you even find yourself in that position?? A lot of them want to talk to you but they really can't otherwise they know Dottore would kill them 💀 But they're just glad they have the option to report to you instead of the Doctor.
