okay hehe im about to be really delulu.

this song is sooooo them in their breakup era. either during their actual academic divorce or in a nebulous situation where they dont ever solve their issues and drift away from each other. i think both fit in different parts of the song and i dont know which to choose lmao why choose one interpretation though. make it about both and neither go crazy go stupid. here are the lyrics!!

!! i know kaveh's thing is architecture and not painting but! i just think it fits thematically either way. besides you need to be a bit metaphoric about it. something something missing a person very much even though they hurt you and you hurt them and your memories of being together are bittersweet. building something (in a literal sense or not) with pieces you have kept of them and keeping it close to your heart. having mixed feelings about it, that product of both your love and your resentment towards them. yeah. okay rest of the song where you can feel everything i just talked about

i prepared my canvas with pieces of the bedsheets that we never got to dirty the frame i made with the wood from your bedroom window from the gates of your house, i made palette and easel and with the tears that didn't stay with you i distilled linseed oil and from your bed i ripped away pieces that i cut up in different sizes and i made, then, paintbrushes with your hair i made coal out of the lipstick i stole from you and with it, marked two vanishing points and sketched my horizon

this entire part makes me go insane i just really like it. oh the lyricism.... oh..... ah...... it's also the part that slaps the most in the song if you, hypothetical reader, end up listening to it (WHICH I RECOMMEND EVEN IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE I SWEAR ITS A VIBE ITS MY FAVORITE SONG) (okay let's proceed)

and it was always "i didn't mean it i swear i didn't mean it, i didn't want to hurt you i promise that it won't happen another time" and it was always, always the same again the same betrayal sometimes it's difficult to forget "i'm sorry, she doesn't live here anymore" but then why do i pretend that i believe what i make up none of it happened this way it wasn't like this nobody suffered and it's only you who causes this empty yearning trying to paint these flowers called heartseases and forget-me-nots

(translator's note i was very happy that forget-me-nots are called the same thing in both portuguese and english so the meaning isn't lost but heartseases are called "perfect love", which. adds to the meaning okay. so yeah. but heartseases also kinda hits and fits so its alright)

It's a historical romance about a new Lord trying to navigate his new duties all while his new secretary, who is said scoundrel, is searching his estate in secret. Feelings and mishaps ensue. It's very good if you're into that kind of thing. It's the second in a series that I did not read the first of. Which. Is very on brand.

If we're talking about current reads? Laudna's book has been hanging out in my bag since October 7th. I bought it and started it in a reading slump so she's just kind of sitting there. Making me feeling guilty.

last movie: I saw wicked with my sister!! I'm a theatre kid and it shows 😭 but it was so good. I immediately started crying during "no one mourns the wicked" and did not stop.

last tv show: I'm rewatching yellowjackets with a friend. She is very concerned about the identity of pit girl (as we all are).

I started watching everything with Brennan in it, fell in love with abria and had to watch every SHE was in. So I watched EXU and. Well. I was having a crisis when I found out Orym (and Dorian and fearne) carried over to the new campaign. I knew a Liam character would get me but this tiny little halfing fighter? Damn. Anyways I watched 424 hours of content in like two months. So. That was fun.

Do you make your bed?: Yes! I'm not a neat-freak, but I consider myself quite neat

Favourite number: When I was a young child someone asked me this and I didn't know what to say so I pretended it was '86'. Since then, that's always just been what I've said… couldn't tell you why lol

What's your job?: Between roles atm, but usually a copywriter

If you could go back to school, would you?: For sure. I was really let down as a kid by the system, if I could go back but with the wisdom I have now, I would love to. As for further education, I loved my undergrad but I can't see myself realistically studying more on account of chronic illnesses

Can you parallel park / Can you drive a manual car?: Nope. I was good at parking and driving back when I was first learning over 10 years ago but never took my test because I got a lot of anxiety driving. I live in London now, so there's no urgent need to learn, but I will have to some day.

it was a particularly bad year. i stumbled upon their silly videos (thank you stay for the edits<3) and they made me laugh. then i started seeing clips of chans room and him interacting with the boys and just like... he's so wonderful. he's generous and kind and loving and thoughtful. just a shy lil guy who also happens to be a flirt and a fucking dork and it's cute man idk shut upp

who is your bias wrecker?

i was certain i'd never have one, i truly adore each of those boys so so much.

i was however proven wrong after a very sweet, silly compilation of binnie being ridiculous. followed by a face cam of his sclass performance in the supreme jersey?? and the curls?? he has such amazing stage presence and he's a great dancer. but he kept going from his cute sweet binnie expressions looking like he was just so into it and having fun, to the "dark rapper" eyes and commanding stage presence. and like, wow. 🖤 i am a sucker for that kind of duality.

in another reality han is my wrecker. that boy is the epitome of what i used to look for in guys: babygirl. lol. well, and insanely talented and funny and everything. I adore him

i was a kpop fan 2014-2017 and went all in. kcon and concerts the whole thing

but then i was just on my usual 6 hour yt shorts binge as i tried to fall asleep and saw skz reacting to the "your eyes" mv, specifically felix's part, obviously. i watched it like 12 times just cry laughing at han screaming, hyunjin trying to escape, channie hiding behind his hands and squealing. it was just so funny to see a group kind of clowning their own shit? i thought they were hilarious.

then i saw julien (solomita) had reacted to 'topline' and i was soooo into it. immediately went to watch some mvs and decided cool i'll be a totally normal casual fan of this group’s music….. :)

THEN a lovely lady i'd followed on my 10 year old tumblr account posted about skz. i messaged her that I’d finally decided to check them out and she was kind enough to answer questions and entertain my onslaught of messages as I screamed about how much I love these boys. and she still does everyday so. thank you hana 🌸

Other 7 Comfort Movies:

Ever After - This movie is one of my favorites and I love putting this on when I'm sick or need a pick me up. It never fails to lift my spirits.

Jurassic Park - I am actually wearing a Jurassic Park t-shirt right now, I am a little bit obsessed. But nothing makes me happier than when they pull up to the giant gates of the park and the John Wlliams score swells.

The Life Aquatic - It's probably the only Wes Anderson film that really resonates with me, I enjoy his others but this one IDK. It's Bill Murray, deep sea creatures, and Jeff Goldblum. "Let me tell you about my boat."

Ghostbusters - This movie is so freaking funny and it's just solid. Plus Billy Murray again! (I also love the 2016 one tbh. Holtzmann is my wife.)

Frozen - I relate to Elsa a lot but also, it's just a well done story and the songs slap. Idina Menzel FTW. (I watch Lilo and Stitch when I need a good cry. That movie makes me sob.)

Repo the Genetic Opera - Weirdly comforting to watch Paris Hilton's face fall off, Anthony Stewart Head has pipes, it's just a fun movie for its dark critique of capitalism and health care. Also the music is catchy AF.

Megamind - Just a great subversion of superhero tropes and fun story! Makes me happy.

Honorable mention to Avengers & Captain America: the Winter Soldier, both of which I've seen too many times but I couldn't decide between them.

DNI: MAPS, MAPS supporters, Zoos, Proshippers, any NSFW accounts in general because I'm a minor—I'm chill if suggestive stuff or jokes are made but nothing too heavy, anyone who takes shipping a little too seriously, ableist people, racist people, transphobic or homophobic people, any kind of LGBT-phobic people, anti-self shippers or anti oc x canon (I do self shipping and oc x canon so you should probably skedaddle out of here if you don't like either of those things). Tbh, just dni people who are weird or do stuff that harms other people in general. I'm cool if you don't like certain characters or shows or whatever the hell, but if you like doxx or harass people over having opinions or if you do anything creepy in general, you should probably get outta here. Also younger kids in general—like any age below 13.

This is also supposed to be a chill blog where I just post stuff I like—and I tend to really hate fighting, so chances are if someone tries to start fighting shit up in here, I'm probably either not gonna respond or I'll just delete whatever they said. I mean like if I did something genuinely wrong I'll reply, but this isn't meant to be a discourse blog. I'm just here to have a good time fam. /lh

And request—if you're gonna block me at least tell me why before you do. Not because of any specific reason, I just happen to flip out due to a personal experience I had a while ago and I start thinking that they blocked me because I'm a horrible person and did something terribly bad. So if you're not blocking me because you think I'm a bad person, it might be better to explain to me before you do since my obsessive thinking won't freak out if it's just something like me being into a ship that's a trigger for you or me just creating stuff that makes you uncomfortable/just stuff ya don't like in general. /gen

last song: Work is Easy, Life is Hard - The Wombats (look don't judge, their pop music goes surprisingly hard considering).

fav colour: I usually oscillate between blue or purple. I think today is more of a blue.

last book: unfinished, I was bought A Gremlin in the Works by @toenzy for Christmas. It's all about the history of Gremlin Graphics, a British games company during the 80s and 90s (they did last a bit longer but most of their recognisable titles are during these decades). Finished book is like years ago (doing a thesis babyyyyy), but it might genuinely be The Murderer's Ape, which is an excellent children's book. I'd recommend it to adults too. It's written from the perspective of an ape who's friend is wrongly convicted of murder and her subsequent adventures. There's something about the writing which really does make it feel like an ape has written it (without it relying on crass spelling/grammatical errors).

last movie: Predator or Die Hard probably, or maybe even Wallace and Gromit, Vengeance Most Foul. Christmas TV watching innit. We're going to go to Bristol on the 18th to watch a showing of Nosferatu with a live accompaniment by Stephen Horne, which I'm excited for. I love being able to see silent films with a proper accompaniment and I've not actually seen Nosferatu either!

last tv show: unfinished - Crá, which is an Irish crime drama almost entirely in the Gaelic language. It's interesting, I'm not a biiiig fan of the main character but it's still nice to watch something in Gaelic.

sweet/savory/spicy: Sweet.

relationship status: with @toenzy, we've been together almost 12 years now which is pretty neat.

last thing i searched: Checking on how you spell Gaelic for sure tbqh (I did not spell it correctly).

current obsession: I'm back on my League bullshit (don't @ me). I'll probably switch back to dota and other games soon enough, but currently it's scratching an itch and the games are mercifully short so I can sometimes do two in one break rather than play one dota game and be like 20 minutes over the amount of time I wanted to break for lmao. Season 2 of WoW might also grab me back, who knows.

looking forward to: I'm going away to a big meet up thing next weekend to see a load of dota people which should be good. I'm already deep in the anxiety about sparing these few days bc thesis needs more work, but I'm basically treating this as a birthday gift/break.

fav drink: it's still monster because I love sipping medicine, but I can't drink it any more because of how caffeine interferes with my ADHD meds. I drank a sugary coke last night and I'm still in regret.

song playing 24/7: there's too many to list here, but I feel like I can just write Kandy by Fever Ray. If you like queer techno, I'd very much recommend that song/entire album, it's a banger. The lead singer (Karin Dreijer) is non-binary, sings a lot about fucking women and in the video for this song is dressed in weird, old man drag and lap dances with themself in a different weird, old man drag. I will never stop trying to get people to listen to Fever Ray.

current fav character: In part, just because I'm writing so much about him, I think I have to select Alex Casey as played by Sam Lake (and voiced by James McCaffery) in Alan Wake II. The sheer level of meta play for this character alone is almost impossible to explain to those who don't know Max Payne or Alan Wake. Watching Sam Lake doing an entire musical number will never get old to me, and I'm so glad that he fulfilled essentially a lifelong dream in doing it (he wanted to from like 2012).

fun activity you would like to get into: Tbh, there's a lot of different things I'd love to start doing. Trying to find the energy to find one and keep doing it is real tough.

last video game: Technically it would be League, but discounting mobas and mmos, it'd be Tunic. I've heard incredible things about the game and I'm finding it a little tough to stick with atm, but I have a feeling that that is the point so I extra want to put in the effort. I also played Death's Door just before Tunic, which feels quite similar in a few ways and was very enjoyable. You play a little crow grim reaper. It felt a little short, but I've also not done some of the extra content as one of the few things I didn't enjoy about it was the lack of a map. I think it's also intended to be confusing and a sort of memory game (and possibly it might prevent people from realising that the maps are quite small in reality), but I'm not sure it was as successful.

last comic/graphic novel: Online is probably Ava's Demon, which is a beautiful comic that I'd recommend to most people but it does update only slowly so I've no idea if it'll actually be finished. IRL, I think it's either Electric Bones (gay robot space smut!) or possibly Black Hole (one of my favourite graphic novels written/illustrated by Charles Burns). It's a teen horror which is an analogy for STDs, where the teens who have sex start to develop horrifying mutations. It's surprisingly deep (where that explanation might make it sound quite surface level 'oooo sex = bad'), a fascinating read, and still relevant for teens today despite being written back in the 90s

i don’t know why i associate this song with summer / travelling? but i do! i went on a couple of flights last week and this is the song i always play when the plane takes off haha, it's a good one you should give it a listen!

this one is a bit melancholy and hits a liiiiittle too close to home with me going into my final year of uni soon, but i’ve had it on repeat recently anyway lol - i just love pink floyd, it was a toss up between this one and ‘shine on you crazy diamond’ to put on this list, generally i’m just such a sucker for a good guitar solo and i always have been 🫶

Laws of Attraction. It's the only thing on my blog now, hehe. I love the pace. It's a shame it's got only 8 episodes, but at the same time, I like that it means there's no time to waste. I like all the characters too. especially the lead, Charn. If you haven't watched it yet, please consider trying*^*

Khun Pan. a trilogy of Thai action fantasy movies which I feel like the plot is such a mess at first. Tbh, I still think it's a mess, but somehow the second movie manages to drag me into an obsessive state, and I'm yet to recover. I'm even writing a fanfic now○|￣|＿ It's probably Ananda's face. Nine-year-old me thinks he is the prettiest, and current me does not disagree.

a Thai musical call พิษสวาท. specifically a song call คำพิพากษา(adjudication). this musical is about a ghost who got tricked and killed by her own lover, a high-ranking soldier, and has to stay to guard national treasure, can't enter the cycle of rebirth, and on top of that, the ghost also thinks her husband killed her to run off with another girl. That song is the scene where her reborn husband tells her that he killed her because he LOVED her and trusted only her to do the duty of guarding the treasure right. He died fighting for the country just a mere moment after killing her. and the ghost freaking goes, "uwu weawwy? Ok, i cawn duwu iwt then uwu" it's absurd. it's amazing. I go into this thinking the biggest point is that he killed her, and so when he keeps telling her he didn't cheat and he loves only her, I'm like, That's not the point? But that scene happened, and no, those two are always on the same page. The biggest point is whether or not that dude is cheating. I was dumbfounded. I still think she should accept his offer to die and replace her as a guardian spirit, tho.
