prev post this always gets to me when people complain about timelines not making sense, etc. like it's A Story it takes as much time or as little time as it needs ...
#i see this often coming from fic writers and i get the frustration then but like. you can just make shit up free yourself#time is often used to transport a certain feeling rather than creating a factual or realistic chronology#and beyond that a film or a tv show *is* condensed#if it adhered to some realistic passage of time it'd be a slog#unless it's a deliberate part of the form#ie the run time of the film is in real time etc

Fics that Live in My Mind, Rent Free (Pedro's Version) - Part 1
Happy NYE! 🥳🥳
I read so many wonderful, hot, gut-wrenching, unforgettable, inspiring Pedro Pascal character fanfics... and I haven't been reblogging them 🫣 (it's me, hi, I'm the problem it's me). Don't hate me please - reblogging gives me so much anxiety, and I'm not even sure I could articulate why if I tried - and I see a lot of the discussion/discourse/posts re: reblogging and I truly understand all perspectives although it just seems to elevate my nerves about even more.
However, I understand the impact and moreover, I want to do it for the writers that bring me so much joy and inspiration, so I endeavour to try. I want to make it clear that this is a personal hang up of mine, and I have 100% absolutely no comments on how anyone else engages here; reblog/comment/like or don’t per your own preferences and you have nothing but love from me 😘
So it will be a 2024 personal goal of mine to be less shy about reblogging, but while I work up my courage/practice, I wanted to go back and compile a list of some of my fave Pedro boy fics; I think of each and every one of these fics often and have revisited them all (i.e. Exactly the fics I should have reblogged when I read them). I went deep in my likes so some of these fics are quite old; you may have already read them all! If you have or haven’t, I hope you love them as much as I do!

MAKE TIME
tangerine x fem!reader
word count. 1089
warnings. 18+ only!! tiny bit of arguing, tan being a bit of a turd, but a total cutie after!! fingering, horny brainrot from writer. mdni
Tangerine is always coming and going with work, that his mind is often detached - thoughts spread out in more than one place at a time. Sometimes, it's hard for him to adjust to his surroundings, especially when he's constantly filtering between locations.
Though, when he's with you, he's home. Back in your shared house, he's finally settled.
But that doesn't stop him from bringing work home - he'd spend hours locked in his office, planning schedules and routes for upcoming missions, never once giving you an ounce of attention during his minimal time at home.
You knew what you signed up for, though you hated how insignificant you felt compared to his work. You didn't like how he'd be so blase when it came to failed, planned date nights, how he'd be casual about cancelling for the fourth time in a row. You knew work was important to him, but eventually, you were hoping his view would change - that he'd value you more than some silly little mission.
Tangerine had returned home from an assignment a mere hour ago, and all he had given you was seven measly words. You were planning on allowing him some time to adjust to being back home - to clean up, to clear his mind, but he never joined you back downstairs.
You weren't angry or upset about it - you just felt disappointed. You always gave Tangerine leeway, constantly allowing him the benefit of the doubt; maybe he was tired from travelling or that he saw something gruesome. You were always sure to see from his side, so you often felt wounded when you didn't get the same treatment.
You wait on the sofa, phone in hand, as you consider sending him a text. Sending him a slither of your frustrations, but you decide not to - not wanting things to escalate.
And just like that, you hear footsteps trickle down the stairs, Tangerine accompanying the sound.
"Hi," you call out from your spot on the sofa.
Your greeting goes unheard, your voice blocked out by his phone call.
"Mate, gimme a sec," he says into the receiver, pulling his phone away from his ear as he meets you.
"Oh, you got time for me now?" you quip.
"What's that now?" he asks, his tone alarmed. "Mhm?" he repeats, brows furrowing.
You hear his friend make a snidey comment through the phone - something that loosens a screw in Tan's head. You watch from a near distance, seeing the change on his face.
"Alright, mate. Yeah, that's enough. I got it," he angrily dismisses, ending the call.
"What was that about?" you ask, perching higher from your corner spot, showing interest.
"Why would'ya fuckin' say that?" he snaps at you, eyes narrowing. "Now, I got him in my ear giving me a fuckin' bollocking and you—" he cuts himself off, watching the way your bottom lip wobbled under his reprimand. "No, love. I'm sorry, I didn't mean that— he just got in my head, and I—" he rambles, quick footsteps carrying himself to you.
He sits at the edge of the coffee table, facing you, taking your hands in his. "Darlin', that weren't meant for you," he hushes, thumbing over the back of your hand. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," you shrug, wiping your eyes with your shoulder. "I know," you sniffle, blinking away a few tears.
"No, it ain't," he shakes his head and slips a hand from your grasp, swiping away the wet under your eyes. "Did you mean that a minute ago?" he asks, his tone hesitant.
"Mean what?"
"About me not having time for you," he asks, eyes following you when you divert from his gaze.
You shrug once more, closing your eyes before nodding.
"Is that what you think?" he quietly questions.
"Kind of," you whisper. "Sometimes I don't feel important to you," your words soften, speaking like you were reluctant to share.
"Love," he draws out, hushing you. "That's—" he sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I never want you to feel like that... I guess I have been neglecting you lately," he admits. "The work is never-ending. My head is always frazzled, and I always try to get it done fast, so I have more time with you, but—"
"I know," you reassure, slipping your hand into his. "I understand."
"How about this..." he proposes, leaning in to give you a chaste kiss. "I take some time off. And I can take you away? Really show how much I love you."
Your smile widens, eyes practically lighting up. "Okay," you nod, leaning forward to kiss Tangerine's lips. "I'd love that."
"Yeah?" he grins, almost boyishly. "Good. I'll make some calls later."
He brings your face back towards his, cupping your cheeks and kissing your lips soft and sweet, guiding you backwards - pushing you against the couch so he can hover above. He rests a hand on the back of the sofa, using it as stability as he towers over you, caging you.
He parts from the kiss, both of you breathless from the sudden desperation it had turned into. His grip loosens from the side of your face, and his palm slowly travels downwards, slipping over your tits as he continues down. He runs his hand down your t-shirt-covered stomach, halting when he reaches the waistband of your lounge shorts.
"I have some time now," he offers, his tone teasing as his hand slides down the front of your underwear, fingers dancing over your slit. "Would that get me out the dog house?"
"Maybe," you reply, voice airy when you feel his thumb press over your clit, slowly circling it. "Possibly," you add, spreading your legs.
He hums, a soft, sultry coo against your skin, lips barely brushing yours. Dipping the pad of his middle finger between your folds, delving slowly into your cunt til the last knuckle. Long, thick finger wedged into you so nicely.
You keep him close to you, hands engulfing the sides of his face as you meet his lips, copying his slow, sloppy kisses. He begins pumping his finger inside you, hooking upwards as he rocks it into you, swallowing those pretty little sounds you make so well.
He slowly adds his ring finger, joining it with his other - spreading you ever so slightly, leisurely fucking you with his two skilled fingers.
"I'll let you cum if you forgive me," he teases, picking up pace, rubbing against that gummy spot. "Say you forgive me, darlin'."

random miguel thingy
(left picture source)
miguel o'hara x male reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, slightly hangry miguel, confused spider-teens(miles, gwen, pavitr, hobie), hobie being hobie
Warnings/notes: this is like my first actual fic... i'm not really a writer so sorry if it’s not good ( ; ω ; ) it might be out of character
---------------------------------
It is no secret to any Spider in the Spider Society that you and Miguel are in a relationship, even if you aren’t very loud about it. The other Spiders just know better than to ask much about it, mainly because Miguel can be intimidating as hell as the leader and protector of the “Arachno-Humanoid Poly-Multiverse”.
The two of you are rarely ever separated at headquarters, so when Miles, Gwen, Hobie, and Pavitr entered Miguel’s “office” looking for you and you weren’t present, they figured something was off. You were much easier to get along with than Miguel, and you kept him calmer. They often would talk to him when you were around so you could interfere if he ever started getting too frustrated with them.
The four Spiders just stood there glancing at one another for a while, not exactly sure what to do. Miguel was up on his platform, his muscular back facing them. He was surveying and swiping through glowing orange screens that displayed different universes and saved memories. They assumed he was ignoring their presence until he mumbled something to LYLA and the floating platform began to descend, slowly… as it always did. Miguel sure loved being dramatic. Once he was finally at ground level with the teens, he turned around, placed his hands on his hips, and walked over to them.
Hobie is the first one to break the slightly uncomfortable silence, as he’s the only one of the four younger Spiders not terrified of Miguel. “‘Ey, bossman. Where’s your boyfriend at?” He asks nonchalantly, his hands in his pockets. He looks around as if checking to see if you’re hiding somewhere. Miguel raises an eyebrow.
“Him and I are no longer dating. Do you need something?” Miguel replies, sounding annoyed. The teens stare at him with widened eyes. That was definitely not the answer that they were expecting. Miles, Gwen, and Pavitr all start talking at the same time.
“Why? That doesn’t make any sense!”
“Wait, what? Did something happen?”
“But you two are perfect for each other!”
No response from Miguel, although the corner of his lips twitch upwards for a second at Pavitr’s words. The change in expression is so subtle that they all miss it. He continues to stare down at them and sighs.
“Do you need something?” He repeats, seeming more irritated. The teens all glance at each other, worried they did something wrong to upset him. Gwen opens her mouth to respond but stops when everyone senses someone coming behind them.
You swing into Miguel’s “office”, carrying what looks like a bag of food. All eyes are now on you. You gracefully land right next to Miguel and hand him the takeout bag, which he gratefully accepts. “Thank you, mi vida.” He whispers before partially lifting your mask and quickly kissing your cheek, making you smile. He then walks away to place the bag on the platform. This interaction between the two of you only makes the younger Spiders even more lost. You fully remove your mask and turn your attention to the teens.
“Hey, everyone!” You greet them, smiling and giving a small wave. You notice their puzzled faces. “Everything alright? Miguel wasn’t getting hangry on you, was he?” You ask, half joking. The teens look at each other again as he returns to your side. That must have been the reason why he seemed annoyed earlier… but that didn’t explain what he said.
“He told us you guys split up.” Gwen blurted out, looking back and forth between you and Miguel. You furrow your brow in confusion and look at him. He sees your expression and his eyes slightly widen.
“No, I didn’t say we broke up. I told them we were no longer dating.” He quickly explains, as if trying to reassure you. Hobie's eyebrow raises and realizes what he’s implying. However, the other Spiders still don’t catch on.
“That’s basically the same thing!” Miles argues, Pavitr and Gwen nodding their heads in agreement. You cover your mouth and try your best not to laugh. Your attempt fails and they notice. “Hey, what’s so funny…?” Miles questions.
“Miguel, that’s a horrible way of telling them we’re married.” You say, staring at your husband. He just gives you a small, sheepish smile. The others look at you two in disbelief for a few seconds. They start questioning you, suspicious that you’re pulling some kind of prank on them. You chuckle before gently grabbing Miguel’s hand. “Show them.” You request, holding out his hand for the other Spiders to see.
Miguel then disintegrates the glove on his left hand, revealing a silver wedding band on his ring finger. “I would show you mine as well, but I’d have to take off my whole suit.” You add. The teens all lean forward and gawk at the ring, too flabbergasted to say anything for a while.
“You’re terrible at communication, mate. But it’s a very nice ring.” Hobie finally comments, pulling away and nodding his head. Pavitr gushes over the fact that you two are husbands and brings up his lovely girlfriend, Gayatri. He starts daydreaming out loud about the day they get married.
Eventually the teens calm down, and they stop staring at the band on Miguel’s finger. However, they are left astonished one last time when they look up and see the genuine grin on your husband’s face as he stares at his ring.

Hello, this is the beastman reader anon, I loved your thoughts on that, and gotta agree all the girls of dungeon meshi don't get enough fics. 🤝
Laios and Chil have tons, heck even Senshi
So in light of that, and you now being my favorite writer, what do you think of poly farcille x reader? Because these girls need a lot of love, and definitely someone to love and protect because holy fu how are these mages so accident and injury prone??? They're living their childhood friends to lovers and fall in love with their new party member? Yoink, they're a throuple now
Plus, Marcille needs someone to comfort her and hold her when Falin gets turned into a Chimera. Someone else who can't bear to see their love hurt and wants to try and see if she's still in there. Cue monsterfucker era for them, they guess? and possible shenanigans where the dragon part of Falin sees them as her mate
Plus someone else to hate Chilchuck using Shuro falling in love with Falin as an example of healers doing their job causing feelings to sprout, and someone to carry Marcille around when she gets injured which is sadly often
-💪🐺 anon
— MARCILLE + FALIN THOUGHTS: marcille x reader x falin
ᥫ cw: kind of angst ★ HELLO SORRY FOR GETTING TO THIS SO LATE (TAKING A SHORT BREAK FROM MY KINKTOBER WRITINGS) BUT HOLYYY FUCK !@?#!@ FIRST OF ALL, GENIUS. FARCILLE AND THEIR SILLY LITTLE S/O?? BRILLIANT I LOVE IT!! SECOND ... ME BEING YOUR FAVORITE WRITER ... I AM IN TEARS ANONIE!! ILY
marcille and falin had some strange thing going on in the sense you couldn't quite tell if they were friends or lovers. turns out, it was a secret third thing that you had no idea involved you.
see, falin was a quiet girl. she didnt usually voice out her feelings and emotions. in fact, she preferred to keep things like that private, show her affections in quieter, simpler ways.
that was until she noticed marcille being strangely affectionate and close with you. only then did she start being a bit more around you especially.
and really that was the only time you started noticing. at first you thought your bonds as friends and colleagues were jst improving, finally getting the attention and appreciation from the other party members. marcille started offering to help you pack up your things or would offer to heal your minor wounds and stuff. but then falin started coming to sit next to you every meal time, she starts walking faster to be beside you, she even starts offering you some of her snacks.
it was nice, really it was. well, before things started getting a bit out of hand. it started as subtle glances at each other, ones you first thought to be some secret code between them. then it evolved to small things like racing to sit next to you or walk next to you. then it turned into quiet bickering. then it turned into out-right trying to one up each other. and by then you couldn't take it anymore, confused and worried all this was putting a strain on their friendship. that was until they both, in a fit of frustration, had admitted to you that they both liked you.
you realize the solution is simple and right in your face; why dont date both of them?
and so you do! thus begins the sweetly awkward first few steps into your polycule, one where falin seemed unfazed by the idea (in fact she seemed more than happy with the compromise) and where marcille would flush bright red and every small thing. it was adorable, both of the were.
among the three of you, marcille definitely was taking the longest to get used to things. the first few weeks were when her pride got in the way the most, either refusing to share falin with you or you with falin. it took a while for her to start being more open, for the lack of a better term. and it took you and falin a lot of very gently prying her off one another and spending time as a trio. though it hasn't stopped her from being envious every time she sees you and falin snuggled together near the campfire or sat next to each other at a pub, because the instant she sees you two, she pouts and slides herself between you two. she's a jealous girl, having two partners was NOT going to help lol.
falin's the opposite, as much as she was admittedly somewhat jealous before you all started dating. she's just happy she gets to be with her favorite people because she's literally living the dream life.
well, until her chimerafication and sudden it's just you and marcille. it was .. definitely something terribly difficult you two had to go through, but at least you were there for each other. and being for each other lead to the unspoken promise of being there for falin. while you two never really spoke too much about it (mainly because it'd upset marcille and leave her inconsolable for a few days), it was always in the back of your heads. there was always that part of you that felt incomplete because of it, and it was a part you were determined to get back.
marcille definitely got more clingy when the venture back down the dungeon for falin began, and all the more so when you had learned the fate of falin. she'd fuss way more about you, your health and your injuries. she was always ready to expend her mana just to heal you, even the tiniest of scratches. so you try not to get hurt, because it's something easier to do that to break marcille's heart even more. you have to be brave, for her and falin.

== Love Notes ==
Love Notes are going to be a bit different tonight. So much of the cast sent love so I wanted to share them here. I am not going to be able to say anything more than what they've said, but I want you to know this. I know you're all hurting so much. You have every right to be angry and frustrated, and scared. Take some time to yourself. Get some rest, create something, drink water, take your meds. Fall back on others for help. You mean so very much to so many of us, and we will feel the loss of any single spark of you so profoundly. You are wonderful and worthy of this life, so please live out of spite if you have to-- but please don't leave us. We'll figure this out, and we'll fight what's coming, and we'll fucking win. I'm including some resources under the love notes for mental health, activism, and support lines. Please feel free to share more if you have them. We love you crew. We love you, and we care what happens to you, and we will link our arms and fight for you. Feel your fear and despair today, maybe even for a week or so, but come back refreshed, and rested, and know we're here waiting, and fighting with/for you. We will make it through this together.

I think a lot of the debates between fanfic writers / intra-community hostility (particularly around how 'accurately' characters are depicted in fic and how dominant explicit fics are becoming) are because the purpose and function of fanfic are fundamentally different for different people, and so fic authors play by very different rules while still using the same label of 'fanfiction' to describe it.
There's a spectrum to the purpose of writing fanfic that I think goes from 'fanfic as a form of literary character analysis' at one end, 'fanfic as smashing barbies together and putting characters in Situations' in the middle, and 'fanfic as a safe and communal space for exploring sexual fantasies' at the other end, which is an approach best summarised by this:
So fanfic writers and readers from the character analysis group might look at the fics written by that last group and go '??? WHY are they writing Mr Blorbo like this? this is so ooc what are they doing?' and the reason is that the fic has an entirely different purpose and is for an entirely different audience. We see so much in-fighting and morality policing over fanfic because people with VERY different expectations, motivations and priorities all share the same space.
A lot of the time when you come across a fic that makes you go 'what the FUCK is this, this is so ooc/fucked up', it makes a LOT more sense when you realise the author is much further towards the 'fanfic as a medium for pornography' side of the spectrum than you are. And when you see people complaining about the prevalence of x reader or explicit dead dove fics, instead of jumping into a pro vs anti 'fiction isn't reality' debate, consider whether they are a 'fanfic as character analysis' person expressing annoyance that it is (often) increasingly hard to find those types of fic.
Both of these uses of fanfic are valid, understandable and important to protect. It's no secret that the fanfic community is dominated by women and queer people, who haven't traditionally been the target audience of erotica/porn, and who absolutely deserve a space to express and explore sexual desires/fantasies. 'Fanfic as pornography' is not above criticism, but I think it's far more helpful to criticise it as you would more mainstream forms of porn.
'Thing X is getting increasingly common in fic and we as an entire community need to step back and consider the implications of X for how it fetishises Y minority group irl' -> yes
'Character A would NOT do [kink scenario]' -> you are missing the point of that fic, I fear
'I think it's frustrating how hard it can be to find fanfic about [theme in original work], everthing on AO3 is all just self-insert or ['''problematic''' ship no. 12457] fics :(' -> this statement is not a moral condemnation of these types of fic. people are allowed to not want to read 'fanfic as porn' fics. we don't need to start fights over this.
Horny fandom please remember you are in a fandom space where people are allowed to want fandom-centric stuff. Fandom-centric people please remember you are interacting with other people, who are allowed to be horny, and that fiction is absolutely the best and safest place to explore 'extreme' kinks. Yeah, it can be annoying that everyone gets crammed into the same spaces when we all have very different ideas of what we want fanfic to be, but this is the way things are, so we need to learn to understand each others perspectives and stop jumping into fights at the slightest perceived criticism of your personal way of doing things

how do u write fighting or do u have any tips? i have an idea for a fanfic not mcyt related but im terrified ill write the fight scene poorly as it makes up a majority of the fic.
Fighting and fight scene tips! I have a couple I guess! The tricky thing is fight scenes are really subjective. It's hard to give a "and here's all the puzzle pieces you need for a good one" kinda answer. But I can at least tell you the stuff I think about while I'm writing.
You know the drill, writing tips under the cut:
1. Research
I feel like I put this on every tip list. Research the thing you're doing. The Internet is your greatest friend and confidante. Look up YouTube videos of fighting competitions. Look up the weapons your characters are using. Figure out how many bullets are in the magazine for the gun type your character is using. Research how far you have to be to survive that explosion. Figure out if the cool sword breaker was actually useful in combat and why. Get a reasonable measure for how much blood your blorbo can lose before they pass out. This will help you paint a clear picture for yourself about what needs to happen, and why. Your readers don't necessarily have to have that clear picture, but the more you, the writer, know, the more likely you are to write a consistent, understandable narrative.
2. Character POV is important!
What does your character even know about fighting anyway? <- the most important question to ask of your POV character. This establishes what your character can tell your audience about what's going on. Has your character never fought before? Are they familiar with the weapons used? Do they know counters for fighting styles? Do they even know how to throw a punch? Do they have a high pain tolerance? These things will inform how the character informs us, the readers, about what's going on. Generally speaking, lack of consistency is what makes fight scenes frustrating, in my opinion. Sitting there and going "hey wait, how did that teenager know better battle tactics than the general they're fighting?" Takes you out of the moment and ruins whatever cool thing that teenager just did. Going "hold on, what do you mean the sniper didn't realize he was out of bullets?" Does the same thing. Keeping the characters consistent stops your readers from questioning the validity of the scene.
3. What can your readers see, and is it the same as what the characters see?
Similar to above, but a little more meta. Fight scenes are often played for drama. You're putting the character in peril, and that peril is for a reason: to make the audience have an emotional response. Can the readers see an ambush because of your 3rd person omniscient perspective, but the characters can't? Is that a good thing? Will it ruin the shock and surprise of the ambush, or will it induce dread and up the stakes? The enemy has a poisoned sword. Is this obvious to the audience in a way that isn't for the character? This is playing with suspense in a fight, adding and subtracting stakes for the readers, and it needs to be balanced against what the characters know.
I'm mentioning this as a thing because revealing your hand to the audience can be a really interesting way to add suspense, but if the audience feels like a character should've been able to see it coming [ex. How come the assassin didn't anticipate someone poisoning a blade during a fight?] it ruins the immersion of the scene, and makes it feel like you the author are shoving the characters in a direction. Generally speaking if the readers can see the hand of the author moving, it breaks immersion.
[Notably, I don't write in 3rd person omniscient. I write in 3rd person limited. I don't often have a chance or reason to reveal information to the audience that the main character doesn't know, because the audience is observing the world through that character.]
4. What are the guys in the back doing?
Everyone knows the Main Character has to fight the Antagonist at some point, but normally the MC isn't alone. They have friends and allies, or their pet dog. They have a supporting cast, and that supporting cast wants to help the main character. So... where are they exactly? A pitfall I see in Big Final Fight Scenes pretty often is, the MC brings an army, or their crew, or their super friends or whoever, and yet somehow, they end up fighting the bad guy alone, and the writer just... Doesn't address the other people in the room. And you the reader are left going, "Wait, why is no one intervening?" This gets especially immersion breaking when the main character inevitably starts losing their fight [because drama, few fights are easy]. Our MC might die! Why is no one trying to run even a basic distraction on the Antag? This isn't to say you have to have your supporting cast get involved in the final fight -- sometimes you need that solo showdown! But you do have to have a convincing reason to keep the rest of the cast away. If we the readers are under the impression there's six other people in the room just standing there, because you the writer forgot they were there, it gets kinda awkward.
5. Zoom in! Feel it. Zoom out! See it.
Okay so, you now know: Basic information on how your character(s) fight, what your POV character(s) know, what the readers can see (either the same or different from your characters), and you know where everyone is and what they're doing. You have your god's eye view ready. How do you show it?
Zoom in, zoom out.
There is a balance to fight scenes, in about the same way there is a balance to an art piece. There is a foreground, middle ground, and background. Each have importance, each need focus. The foreground is what is happening immediately in front of your POV character, it's their thoughts, what their weapon feels like, any wounds they've taken. It's bullet time, and observations, and right in their face. The middle ground is the surrounding 5-10ft. It's the people beside them, it's what's just past their opponent. It's the rest of the room, or the sound just out of view, or the object just out of reach. The background is everything past that. It's distant explosions. It's their friend getting wounded. It's an archer on the next rooftop.
How much of that you want your audience to see, how you want to vary that, depends on what you as an author view as important. If you want to focus more on the character, their struggle, their opponent, you will write most of the fight scene in the foreground. Focus on what the character feels, the sensation of movement, the pain, fear, exhilaration. Focus on the words they're saying [or not saying]. Focus on what they know, what they're telling the audience. If you want to highlight the battle, how the main character is working in their surroundings, you will focus on the middle ground. This is what the character looks like from an outside perspective, how they fight against their opponent. This is them trying to reach an item, or shove their opponent into something. This is running, and kicking, and trying to figure out if your friend is still by your side. This is seeing your comrade go down out of the corner of your eye, or admiring someone's fighting style, or screaming orders at someone. The background is anything further away, a distant problem that is putting on pressure. A ticking time bomb. This is the building catching fire, the lightning in the storm overhead. This is superman fighting off the alien army while your MC is trying to kill the general. This is you reminding the audience the rest of the world hasn't stopped turning while the MC has been doing MC things.
Generally speaking, I like to move through all three spaces several times during a fight scene? The main character is hurting and holding onto their sword, and breathing is hard. The antag is pressing the advantage, trying to back them through the space. But they can't lose too much ground, because their friend is fighting the second antag over there, and they're bleeding from a fresh cut. They have to win, they have to escape, because the sound outside says the building is groaning on its foundation-- and the main character stumbles as the building rocks. [And I've just moved through all three types of ground, giving the audience a clear view of what's happening].
You don't have to bounce reliably through the space. Not showing the background for a long time means you can surprise your audience with a new hero or villain swooping in! Or leave us in suspense about that magic ritual we're supposed to be stopping. Not showing a middle ground side character implies your MC is so distracted they won't know their friend is hurt until it's too late -- etc.
If it helps, I like to imagine there's a little invisible camera panning around, taking dramatic shots of everything, like you're making a movie, and writing accordingly.
Uhm!! Hopefully that's helpful?
Some broader quick tips:
Fight scenes are very fast, and generally happen over a period of a few minutes. That time will feel significantly longer because it's jammed packed with Stuff Happening, but the fact remains, it's only a few minutes. Keeping the timing in mind helps you figure out if backup can arrive to help, or if it's reasonable for someone to miss the fight happening, etc,
On that note, if it's a battle specifically, battles [especially medieval ones] are short. They don't last all day, unless they're a siege, and even then, sieges are long periods of digging in and waiting with short clashes peppered around.
This might just be me, but try not to overuse metaphors? We get it. The swordsmen look like they're dancing. But not everything they do is graceful or dancer-y. Sometimes you can just say "and he punched him in the face." Unless your writing style is naturally super flowery, in which case, do continue. Consistency is key.
Do some basic research on wounds. Suspension of disbelief can only carry so far, and pain is genuinely debilitating. Also, yes coughing up blood is a very dramatic "the character is dying" cue, but in real life it only happens on very bad lung/throat wounds. If what you're writing is Super Realistic, maybe don't throw that in there.
Write confusion with care. You might not want your audience to know what's going on all the time, but if your audience genuinely can't figure out what's going on, why something is happening, or who it's happening to, you will eventually lose your immersion.
Write comedy with care. If your fight is non-serious, or if your character in a serious fight doesn't normally take things seriously, jokes are allowed to happen. But sometimes if you don't take it seriously enough, you will chop the knees off your drama. Maybe save some of the jokes for after the life-threatening battle is over.
I think! That's everything I can think of just now! I hope it helps :'D

Hi writer, may i request hc of piper meeting her mom's arsenal teammates and aunty leah
Which national team is reader?
reader is a matilda! i know that have a lot of jessie x tillies!reader fics because unfortunately i am biased (😬 i just love my girls okay) and also, i have more insight into the auswnt dynamics which makes it easier for me to write.
headcanons under the cut! it’s a bit of a long one
- piper was only little when you’d made the move from melbourne victory to arsenal. you were 22 and she was just shy of her second birthday, so the move had initially been quite difficult.
- during the first couple of weeks you’d leave her with staff whilst you trained, not willing to put her in such a chaotic environment without making her comfortable first
- steph and caitlin would pop in regularly to see her, often sneaking off when they thought no one was paying attention to play with her
- because you’d played against your arsenal teammates before they all knew that you had a baby girl and had been absolutely ecstatic to meet her
- you were early to training one day and had set piper up in your cubby with a blanket, toys and her bottle whilst you got ready. it had been a rough morning for the both of you and you were nearing tears as you changed into your training kit
leah had walked in not expecting anybody but halted when she saw you.
she looked between you and the babbling baby before immediately setting down her stuff and coming over to you. you could tell that she was obviously a bit distressed seeing you upset so she rubbed a hand up and down your back soothingly
“rough morning?”
that’s when the waterworks broke. you hung your head and had explained everything to leah, how neither of you slept very much last night which meant that you were both frustrated this morning.
leah had listened intently whilst cooing at piper and pressing the buttons on her hot pink toy flip phone. she let you get is all out before kim walked in
immediately she was in mother hen mode. the two of them just listening and offering help whenever you needed it
- from then on out, leah had become quite a regular visit to your apartment and in turn, bonded with piper like no other.
- meeting the rest of the girls was a lot better and less tears were involved, all of them getting the opportunity to meet piper through the day
- piper meeting katie was still the funniest interaction to date because katie had forgotten that you had a kid
she had louldy busy into the change rooms, skidding to a stop because she had been running late, and stared at piper wide-eyed
“which one of youse stole a kid!?”
piper had been consumed by her think accent and looked at her puzzled whilst you stood watching the whole thing. she was clinging to caitlin’s leg and had cookie crumbs all over her mouth, her eyes never once leaving katie’s face
“katie she’s y/n’s”
“oooohhhh”
- it took a little longer for piper to warm up to katie, mainly because she couldn’t really grasp what she was saying half the time, but once she got the hang of it the two of them were inseparable.
- over the course of your first season at arsenal piper had established small groups of players that she would go to for different things.
- lotte, kim and viv were for when she got a bit too overwhelmed and needed a bit of quiet.
- she could be found with jen, katie or leah whenever you, steph or caitlin weren’t around.
- she hung out with lia and jordan when she wanted to talk, because they were the best listeners.
- steph and caitlin were often for comfort and familiarity. she would follow them around whenever she missed her nanny and poppy at home, and often found herself clinging to caitlin’s legs like a monkey.
- she kind of just… fell into beth or daan’s laps, never really seeking them out but also not being applied to hang out. beth would colour with her to get out of drills she didn’t really want to do and daan helped sneak unhealthy snacks at lunch time.
- what you weren’t expecting was for her to love manu. the goalkeeper had taken to your daughter straight away and would often keep an eye on her when training. piper was often found near the goals with her little hat and coat on, playing with her toys in the grass while manu trained. it was quite a sight.
- teammates came and went and piper adjusted to all of them fairly well.
- except for when jordan and jen left. she cried and cried and cried when she realised she wasn’t going to be seeing them everyday, even more so when jen had to break the news that she was moving to america.
jen makes the effort to call all the time, and jordan regularly texts to check in and see how things are
- kim gets referred to as captain kim or kimmy and nothing else. you know piper does it because the rest of you do it as a bit of a joke, but she also knows that kim is important to the team so she does it out of respect.
“captain kimmy can you please open my juice”
- all the arsenal girls are her aunties but only the aussies, leah and katie get the title when she refers to them.
“does auntie leah know jessie plays for chelsea?”
“can we go see auntie kyra?”
“auntie cait and auntie katie want to take me to the zoo! can i go mum? please please please”
“auntie stephy says i have to eat my carrots to get big and strong but i think she’s telling porkys”
- sabs and her got along great and the duo of manu and piper quickly became a trio.
- vic is a great listener like jordan and piper thinks her accent is funny.
- the younger players like laura, teyah, gio and laia paint piper’s nails and buy her new dress up costumes for her to wear, they always have a fashion show and tell her how pretty she is.
- emily loves to braid piper’s hair. the first time she did it you were in a meeting with jonas and your daughter didn’t have her hair done. she hat sat on the floor in front of your cubby with her hairbrush in her hand when emily came up to her
“do you need help with your hair?”
piper looked up at her wide eyed. she hadn’t really spoken to emily yet, her accent was like cloe and sabs’ but different “yes please”
“alright, i can help”
piper loved the way she looked with her dutch braids and told you as such when you came back, praising emily for how pretty she made her look.
- alessia was soft spoken and always crouched down to her height when the two of them spoke. plus she would bring her flowers sometimes, piper loves flowers.
- cloe was a bit lost at first when piper stopped her from going out onto the pitch her first training session. she had stuck her little hand out in front of her and planted her feet firmly on the ground
“you’re new”
cloe froze and looked around before realising that this must be the kid sabs talks about all the time. she nodded her head slowly “i’m cloe”
“cloe from canada?”
“cloe from canada.”
piper waved her hand “c’mon cloe from canada. come meet my mum”
- kyra needed no introduction. piper had run herself straight into the back of kyra’s legs and plonked her head
“you’ll hurt yourself doing that”
piper held her forehead “up! kyra pick me up!”
the pair of them were trouble, and after you and mini ran after kyra, harper, piper and charli all winter, you already knew what you were in for
(steph can’t catch a break)
- at the end of the day you’re just grateful that you’re raising your little girl around such a group of strong, talented women. you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hello, and (for the moment) ‘see you in a while’ from old desklamp.
(Quick edit now I’ve written this all out: Oh, lordie—I’ve just realised that this sounds like I’m announcing I’m giving up on IW. I’m not! I promise. This is all about how I’m trying to facilitate my writing process. IW is not being dropped: let’s get that out of the way first, lmao.)
Hello all! I’ve been doing some self-reflecting, and I’ve come up with this: I’ve struggled with writing ‘Intrinsic Warmth’ for a long time now.
Alll too often I’ve been sat with my laptop for hours having only managed to squeeze out one or two paragraphs that I don’t even like all that much anyway. I haven’t felt satisfied by writing for a long time, and so I just haven’t written anything. It’s been months since I’ve written something worth reading for IW, and I’ve been having a think as to why.
I think it comes down to two things; I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure in writing IW, and I’ve become too fixated on the instant gratification of feedback from you guys.
First: the pressure. IW has gotten bigger than I ever considered it would be, especially recently (as in, in the jjk season 2 era). The support and feedback continues to blow me away, and I’m staggered every time I stop to actually consider the magnitude of the response that IW has gotten. It’s genuinely crazy.
All that is to say: I wasn’t prepared for this!! I don’t mean that in any resentful way at all, I want to be clear. Moreso that it’s easy to feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. I know that, relative to other huge ao3 fics, IW isn’t even that huge. But I also recognise that in the ‘Gojo x reader scene’, it’s pretty up there, even if we’re just looking through a ‘filter by most kudos’-ed fic angle. There’s a been big response, and I’m just one person, lmao. But come on, I absolutely love it, and I’m so grateful that people have enjoyed the stuff I’m writing—but as more and more people have been picking it up I’ve felt a definite pressure put upon me. It’s a pressure to write well, and to write more, and to write good things more often. This isn’t to do with anything anyone’s said, don’t worry, but more as an expected consequence of IW picking up traction.
I feel more and more like a ‘popular author’, and feel like I’m doing you guys a disservice with my infrequent updates. I truly do appreciate the reassurance of ‘you can update whenever you want!’, genuinely, but I’m also an ao3 reader myself! I empathise with and understand the frustration that must be felt when I go months between updates. Writing has never come at the expense of my personal, academic or social life (hence why I’ve never tried to tie myself down with an update schedule: I’d never be able to keep to it), and I’d never want it to. I want to keep writing as it’s always been: one of my hobbies. But as IW increases in popularity, it feels like it almost *should* take priority over other things, and this has left me feeling pretty overwhelmed.
My second reason: I’ve also become a tad too dependent on feedback. When IW was in its fledgling stages, I didn’t show it to anyone at all, and was ‘writing for myself’ in the barest sense of the phrase. Only one of my irl friends has read any of it, and when I was first uploading it, when I had about 5ish comments per chapter, any feedback I was getting would always be secondary to my own. I was writing for myself, because I enjoyed writing and I enjoyed what I was writing about, and it just so happened that there were a few people who felt the same as me.
It’s very different now! And I much prefer it now—it’s every writer’s dream to have had such an overwhelmingly positive response to their writing. And now it gets to the point where I can check my emails, or look at my tumblr notifications, and there’ll always be new for me. And whilst I absolutely love this, it’s pretty addictive, checking again and again, seeing what people are saying. This positive response from others is more instantly gratifying than the slow, steady, personal enjoyment I get from writing.
It sounds silly, I know, but I’ve been writing this hunger games fic (completely spontaneous, likely never to be published), and no-one’s read it but me, and it’s reminded me how much I really do like writing. I’ve loved the process of writing it, because the only person whose opinion I’m listening to is my own.
I don’t want to discourage people from reaching out to me, leaving comments, even talking about IW, anything like that. That’s not what I mean. But this is me recognising that I should probably take a step back from the non-writing side of writing: being active on tumblr, constantly checking asks, making posts, etc. Know that whilst I may not immediately respond to you, once I get back in the swing of things over here, I will do. I just need to sort out my personal priorities a bit, I think.
Saying this, I know I haven’t been all that active recently (this has honestly been intentional: I’ve been trying to wean myself off it, lmao) but for the immediate future, I’m making that more definite: I’m going to try to revert my focus to writing. I’m going to stay off tumblr for a bit, until I’ve gotten back into the swing of writing and don’t find myself so focused on the feedback side of it all. Hopefully this’ll spark up some more genuine passion in me! Please know that if you’ve written an ao3 comment, I have read it. I don’t know when I will respond to them, but I definitely will, I just want to keep my focus on the personal side of writing for the moment.
Thank you to everyone! Again, this is just me going off the grid for a while: not a big fuckoff goodbye or anything. If this is unreasonably theatrical, blame my drama GCSE. Going off to do some writing now. See you guys!

Pairing: CEO!husband!Jungkook x writer!fem!wife!Reader
Warnings: arranged marriage, fluff, a bit of angst. (This is a light chapter tbh, I can't think of anymore triggering content. Let me know if I missed anything!)
Summary: We take a look at your life as Mrs. Jeon, wife of the rich heir to Jeon Enterprises, Jungkook. He was a handsome gentleman who you were able to call your husband yet the relationship between you both was entirely political and civil. Could feelings begin to sparkle between the cracks of marriage?
Word Count: 2.8k
A/N: This was supposed to come out yesterday on Kook's birthday but I was busy and I couldn't edit it but here it is! I'll continue writing this small drabble series when I find the time while also working on other fics I hope to be able to publish soon.
Let me know your thoughts on this one in the comments, please! Drabbles are open for this au in case you want to request something my inbox is open!!💜
It was dark outside. Dusk had settled a while ago and your husband was still not home. You worried for him, for his health. He worked so much and rested too little.
You were sitting on the couch, your laptop rested atop your folded legs. Glancing at the clock you noticed how it was nearly midnight. You sighed. This was not new for you. For Jungkook to always come home late, seldom were those times in which he dined with you.
Rarely did you ever go to bed together as you often found yourself curled in the large mattress without him to keep you warm during the night.
You and Jungkook have been married for some months now. A marriage that was arranged by his parents. A marriage that was of advantage to you both for he needed to have a wife and an heir to inherit his family's company and you, well you needed his name.
As an author who had published her first novel, you became really popular in the world of words and books and you could thank it all to your husband's marketing team.
There was no love between you two. But you didn't hate him either. The relationship between you and Jungkook was a polite one, he was ever the gentleman with you and in exchange he obtained your respect.
You cared for him to a certain extent. You always made sure he never left for work on an empty stomach and had ready some light dinner for when he came home late. You always made sure his shirts were ironed and his shoes polished.
And in return, Jungkook always gave you anything you could possibly need. Do you have an appointment with your editor? He'd make sure his chauffeur would drive you there. Do you need some new clothes? You could always use his credit card. Do you want to get Bam a new toy? He’d made sure to bring you the best catalogues he could find for you to choose what to buy for the spoiled dog who had earned your heart too quickly.
It was a balanced relationship. He respected you, you respected him. Jungkook had his life, you had yours. But to the public, you both were a happily married couple. While inside closed doors, you treated each other as an old acquaintance of another lifetime.
Your attention got stolen by the sound of the electronic lock as the front door opened and in came Jungkook. Even from where you sat, you could see the tiredness in his body. The exhaustion.
You put the laptop aside before standing up and walking towards him. You took his coat from his hands and presented his slippers to him.
If Jungkook hadn't been that tired at that moment he'd have thanked you with a soft smile.
"I'm glad you're home, do you want to eat something? I can heat you up some dinner if you'd like?"
He let out a sigh, the stress, problems and frustration from work were getting on his nerves. And to even think that he had to go back tomorrow...
"No, I'm fine, (y/n). I just want to sleep."
You nodded, placing his coat in the hanger while putting his shoes in its place. The scent of his cologne invaded your senses and your touch lingered on the heavy robe he previously wore for longer than needed.
Your eyes followed his figure as he disappeared in one of the hallways and into the bedroom you both shared. You have never minded sharing a room with him, let alone the bed. The other two rooms in the large flat were transformed in your study while the other was his personal gym.
Walking back into the living room, you saved the draft of the story you had been working on for some time now before you powered off your laptop.
For a moment, your eyes lingered on the city lights. They looked so close yet so far at the same time. The large glass windows that reached from the floor up to the ceiling allowed you to see such a beautiful view.
You felt a sudden sense of loneliness wash over you. Something that felt strange in you, something you couldn't describe, let alone place its source.
With a sigh you turned around, your arms were hugging your figure as you approached the couch once more. You placed the laptop on the coffee table before walking towards the bedroom, turning the lights off on your way.
Jungkook was already lying down on his side of the bed, his back facing you. With quick and silent movements you approached the other side of the bed and sat down before getting yourself under the covers.
You assumed your husband was already asleep as deep breaths could be heard in the quietness of the place. You turned on your right side, facing his back as you shut your tired eyes after having been in front of a screen for too long.
"Goodnight, (y/n)."
Those whispered words reached you before you fell into your deep slumber. You mumbled the words back as you succumbed to the tiredness in your body.
"Goodnight, Jungkook."
Little were you aware of the fluttering in your husband's heart at your words. Of the small smile that graced his lips at the little attentions you always gave him. By the way you were slowly entering his heart without you having the slightest idea.
Jungkook was woken up by his noisy alarm and he cursed under his breath before turning the frustrating noise off. With a sigh he sat up, one of his hands ruffled his hair before he stood up and went to the bathroom as he needed to get ready to go to the company yet again.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, Jungkook stepped out of the bedroom, closing the door behind him with a soft noise that nearly echoed in the overly silent apartment.
"Bam, stop it. You already had breakfast."
He heard your voice from somewhere in his large home as the smell of coffee suddenly hit him. His feet carried him over the hallway and across the living room until he entered the kitchen that faced the dining area.
Jungkook saw how you had prepared a plate filled with fruit and some yoghurt as well as a cup of coffee. He couldn't help the smile that grew on his face, the moment itself was precious as if gotten out of one of the dramas he had caught you watching from time to time when you needed inspiration to write or to simply pass the time.
His stomach fluttered when you lifted your gaze from the large yet cute dog who stole your attention to look at your husband. A smile on your own was painted over your lips.
Time seemed to stop when your eyes met his, Jungkook didn't know for how long the both of you stayed like that. As if trapped in a loop of time of perfection. Almost like a real married couple did.
He broke eye contact and cleared his throat, as if snapping himself from some kind of spell. A spell only you conjure over me. The thought crossed his mind before he could stop it. Your smile disappeared from your face as you looked aside, your cheeks heating.
"Did... did you sleep well?"
You asked after a moment or two of silence. Even Bam stopped moving by your side as if somehow the canine felt the subtle tension rising in the kitchen.
"Yes, thank you."
Then it was awkward again. You didn't know what to say. He wasn't moving, neither were you. He didn't seem to want to lift his gaze as it was placed on the white floor beneath his feet. As if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
"I made you some breakfast. It is not healthy for you to leave on an empty stomach, Jungkook."
He hummed, walking toward the stool before sitting down, his breakfast resting on the marble counter.
"I'm going to take a shower."
You excused yourself and left the kitchen, not allowing your husband to say anything as the next second you were already walking down the hallway.
A sigh left your lips as you leaned on the closed door of your shared bedroom. What just happened? You thought to yourself while pressing the back of your hands up to your cheeks to try and cool down the skin that felt suddenly too hot.
You decided a cold shower would help you clear your mind so you didn't waste another minute to grab your clothes and hop into the shower, allowing the cool water to run down your body and refresh your mind.
Jungkook sat at the stool, spoon in hand as he ate the last of his yoghurt. His cup of coffee was already half empty when you emerged from the bedroom, your hair was wet and you were wearing fresh clothes.
The scent of your shampoo hit him and there it was, the fluttering in his heart, the soft churning of his stomach.
He emptied the bowl with his breakfast and downed the remnants of his coffee before he stood up.
"I have to leave now."
Your hands picked up his bowl and cup as you placed them on the sink.
"Have a nice day, Jungkook."
He didn't know what was happening. Everyday you woke up and prepared some breakfast for him, sometimes he ate it at the flat other times he took it with him to eat it at the office.
Why was he feeling so strange right now when what you were doing was completely normal?
You turned to look at him with a warm smile over your lips, ignoring the way your heart sped up a little by the mere sight of him or the way you felt your palms begin to sweat due to the nerves of being with him in the same room.
He mirrored your smile and you swore you had seen Heaven. You loved his smile. You had always found it pretty. It suited him. Not that you had ever told him that but it was a thought you had had since you first met.
"Don't forget to have breakfast, (y/n). I'll try to come back a bit earlier today."
Butterflies fluttered in your stomach at the thought of him coming home at a decent hour from work.
"Oh, that's good. Have a nice day, then."
You mentally face-palmed yourself. You already wished him a good day, idiot! But he chuckled, walking away from the kitchen and toward the front door. You watched him like every other day, you watched him put his coat on as well as his shoes.
Jungkook turned around and smiled at you before he was out of the door, the soft click of the lock echoed so loudly in the now nearly empty flat.
You sighed, going back to the kitchen to prepare something to eat for yourself. Just like Jungkook told you. The promise of his early arrival set a smile on your lips once more. Wanting to be with him again, even when he had just left not even five minutes ago.
The reason for this new feeling? You didn't know. But you couldn't say you didn't like it either. Jungkook was your husband after all, it was only natural to want to be close and spend time with the person one marries, right?
"Jungkook, are you listening?"
His head turned to look at the side only to spot Jimin, one of his close friends and co-workers already looking at him with an expectant and curious expression over his delicate features.
"Sorry, what?"
Jimin sighed, a hand running through his blond hair.
"I was saying that we need to close the deal with Mr. Cha as soon as possible. It will help us increase our sales."
Jungkook let out a deep breath as his thumb kept clicking and clicking the pen that was in his grasp.
"I know. I'm sorry, hyung. I have a lot on my mind right now."
Jimin clicked his tongue as he put some files aside.
"Yeah, I figured. I'll ask Hoseok to look into this and bring you the contract for you to sign."
"Thanks, Jimin-ssi."
The latter smiled, more than smirked and said, his hands tangling in front of him over the table.
"Now tell me, what is bothering you?"
Jungkook knew his friend was going to ask that question sooner or later. He leaned back on his chair and said, fidgeting with the pen in between his fingers.
"It's (y/n)."
If Jungkook had been looking at his friend, he'd have seen how Jimin's eyes widened at the mention of your name. He had met you on a couple of occasions, one of them being your wedding with his younger friend, that's why he grew surprised when you were the centre of Jungkook's current state of mind.
"What happened? Did you two fight or something?"
The doe-eyed man shook his head, placing his pen on the table before his eyes locked with the curious gaze of one of his closest friends.
"What? No, I don't think I could ever fight with her."
Jimin hummed, allowing him to continue.
"It's just that... man I don't know. I can't sleep, I can barely eat. My mind is always racing with the mere idea of her. This morning I saw her smile and... I just thought of how beautiful she looked while smiling. I want to make her smile like that, you know? I want her to be happy and to smile at me like that everyday, Jimin."
There was a moment of silence between the two men. Seconds tickled by, the silence stretched. Nearly swallowing the younger man with his own thoughts and racing heart.
"What? Don't you have something to say, Jimin-ah? You are always teasing me and when I tell you something serious you stay quiet."
The blond haired man seemed to snap out of his own mind. The only thought in his head was the one of Finally!
"You like her."
Stated Jimin. There existed no ounce of hesitation in those three words.
"What?!"
Jimin rolled his eyes, if anyone had seen the scene they would have thought it to be comical.
"Shhh, don't shout like that. I simply said that you like her. You like (y/n), Kook."
Jungkook swallowed. The possibility hadn't even crossed his mind. Did he- did he truly have feelings for you?
"But how?"
Jimin refrained himself from smacking Jungkook on the back of his head. Perhaps they were both speaking as friends right now but the blond man had to remind himself that Jungkook was technically his boss too. At least his future boss.
"Jungkook, it's completely normal. She is your wife, she's been living with you for months now. It actually surprises me that this hadn't happened before considering your one year anniversary is in two weeks."
The heir to Jeon Enterprises was too stunned to speak. Jimin had revealed a reality his heart already knew but his mind rejected to accept for he couldn't deny his friend's statement. He liked you, he really did. And now, he saw his situation with way more clarity than before.
"What do I do now, Jimin? Should I tell her how I feel?"
The older man laughed a bit. His eyes closed with the motion.
"See? You didn't deny it! You really like her, huh?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes, not liking the teasing from his friend.
"You didn't answer my question."
"Aish, you are totally clueless when it comes to romance, aren't you? Listen, Kook, first you have to know if she likes you back. Don't just open your heart where there could be a field of thorns, gift her things and see her reaction, do things for her and pay attention to her words, if she gets flustered or not. And if she doesn't show any signs, well then you have to win her heart."
Jungkook still had so many questions, so many things he wanted to know in order to act on the feelings his heart was treasuring. You were his wife, wasn't a marriage supposed to be sweet?
What he had with you wasn't bitter, but he found himself craving as of lately that sweet love of the heart.
He wished to be with you like a husband loves his wife, not only bounded by a ring but by sentiment too. To be tangled in the web of feelings that threatened to blossom in his heart with every thought of you, every single memory of you.
And he was going to do just that. To fight for your love. To win your heart or claim it if his name was already written in your soul for him to live in such a sacred place.
Bonded by rings, destined by fate. Claimed by society, yearning for a life by your side.

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO ME!
February was the month I became involved in the Obey Me fandom. I had some time last year and I was so inspired that I ended up writing a longfic, but it simply wasn’t enough for my newly obsessed brain. I was a traditional artist until last year when I decided to try my hand at digital art. Uh. It was difficult. I was so frustrated. Canvas size, where my tools are, how brushes work, making a colour palette and layers are all examples of things that I now take for granted these days. Dialuci was the entire reason I didn’t just give up and throw it all away. In fact, they became the reason I got better. I was determined to depict them in whatever scenario I had in my mind even if it was going to be a visual travesty. I focused on the most important thing; having fun. Over time, they became proof-of-concept that improvement is tenacity and repetitiveness.
My first and most-popular fic is Self Control. I spent exactly two months on it powered by creative inertia and an intense hyperfixation that I had not experienced since my teen years writing on Fanfiction.net; the DiaLuci ship dynamics were just that compelling and what was supposed to be a 20-Chapter loosely-connected aphrodisiac-induced smut turned into a whole play-by-play smutty epic about events before and leading up-to lesson 16 (87 chapters!). The rest is history. Now I have multiple stories under my belt and from this, even became a digital artist even though the only thing I thought I could do was write!
Spotlight: Happy Almost-One-Year Anniversary to this comment that I come back to and think about often out of all the wonderful comments I’ve gotten this past year.
I'll have you know that every time I have to write something, I try my best to place the characters in the scene so that it makes sense to someone who isn't me; I think of you every time I do so, dear reader. Thank you again for such a nice comment and representing the value of constructive criticism.
I’ll get back up and writing soon, I promise!
My biggest project to-date:
My Work-in-Progress Lineup:
Based on Obey Me Nightbringer chapter 37 and 38. I am pleased to present these two in their emotional duality. I’m planning on releasing them both at the same time because of the meaning I took from this narrative.
I started out a writer but I've been more involved in art these days. As various platforms are excited to regale me about my anniversaries, I look back on my fandom journey and I remember that you were all at the beginning of it. Thank you all for being excited to see what ridiculousness I get up to and for being a place I can enjoy my time being.
Here's to another year!

Hi hi! I have a question and I apologise if it's impertinent but I really didn't have anyone else to ask. I'm new to ao3 and I'm still figuring out how it works. The problem is this- when I look up a character x reader, I'll see the tag included in many works that have oneshots but since it's a side character, more often than not the oneshot for the character hasn't been written and the tag has been there for months. Is it okay to do that or is it tagging something incorrectly? They say they'll write one eventually but they never do, y'know? To me it kind of feels like they're just trying to reach a wider audience but because of this I can't even filter tags and I have to manually search through the book to check if the character is included, especially when the chapters are titled only by numbers :')
Is it okay to tag things in advance like that?
--
Oh boy...
Wattpad refugees do tend to use AO3 "wrong", sometimes in ways that break the rules and sometimes just in ways I find annoying and against typical AO3 culture.
I'm assuming you are coming from Wattpad based on you calling a work or a fic a "book", which is a very, very Wattpad thing to do.
I'm assuming they are coming from Wattpad given the bad behavior you're describing and the fact that they're a x reader writer.
--
So, here's the thing, if you start writing a fic and there's any amount of the actual fic, even if it's pretty short and bad or in a weird format or whatever, it's still a valid fanwork. Most of the time, AO3 leaves it to the author to decide how to tag (aside from a very few things like death threats in the tags or failing to use the required archive warnings).
AO3 won't stop someone from tagging a future pairing that hasn't appeared yet.
--
But "books" of "oneshots" are such an obnoxious Wattpad thing. This is a completely stupid use of AO3 from the "Please send me prompts" part that is usually in there to the way that unrelated fics are smashed together.
It's not against the rules, but it's a crappy use of AO3 befitting of n00bs.
Sadly, old hands at AO3 also make shitty works that are unrelated stories mashed together. They're often a whole set of kinktober fics or something where the trope tags and the ship tags are accurate, but you can't tell which ones go with which ones without searching the whole fic.
We regularly complain about that on here.
--
A much better way to use AO3 is to make a series titled "My x Reader Oneshots" or "All of my kinktober fics" where each separate story is its own work with its own tags.
My assumption is that this person is using the inaccurate tag both to get more eyeballs on their existing work and because they probably take prompts for that ship or something. (I'm basing this on the kinds of things people say on their oneshot books on Wattpad. Maybe they don't actually take prompts since you haven't mentioned it.)
Some people just don't care that they're annoying others and messing up the tags, but I think some actually don't realize how AO3 filtering works and have no idea this behavior is a nuisance.
On a lot of sites, both Wattpad and algorithm-driven social media, unless a post/work is very popular, it disappears out of sight. Even an inaccurate tag doesn't do that much.
On AO3, one is getting a full list of everything with the tag, going back however far. It's a library catalogue for which you should use accurate data. But this writer is probably thinking of tags more as advertising and a way to get their name out there so readers can follow them pre-emptively. They mean to write the ship in the future, so it's not really inaccurate... (And, tbh, if it were a single work and the ship just hadn't appeared yet, I would agree with them even though those are frustrating too.)
--
So no, they should not do this.
But it's not actually against the rules.
I would mute the annoying people who do this.

Hello there lovely, is there any chance that you could write something - anything really idc if it's a drabble, hc or oneshot- involving tatted Crosshair and his send nudes tattoo?
No pressure of course. love your stuff and keep it up^^
have a nice day <3
This was only meant to be a drabble but I got carried away.
And yes I know this fic starts off almost identically to one of my other fics (I think it was one of the follower celebration ones) but for this specific fic I needed to reuse an old trope dont @ me please I've had writers block (;¬_¬)
This is also another one of my classic medic!reader fics because I wanted it to be gender neutral and doc is the easiest gender neutral nickname I can come up with.
I am not a creative person lmao.
anywho, this is based off of @cloned-eyes absolutely sinful art, which is honestly some of my favorite Crosshair art of all time.
Rating: E (18+) Warnings: Sexting (I think that's it lmao) Words: 2200+
Been a while since ive written anything this long so i hope my writing is still up to snuff

Where could he be? Where on this maker forsaken facility could he possibly be? You storm through the halls of Kamino looking for Wrecker, the errant clone needing to come and see you for updates to his immunisations before he or the rest of clone force 99 are allowed back out into the field.
It’s not surprising that he’s avoiding you, out of all of them, Wrecker is by far the worst with needles. The man can’t stand them, avoids you like the plague when he knows that it’s time to keep his vaccinations up to date and for what its worth you can’t really blame him. No one enjoys needles.
You huff and place your hands on your hips as you think about where the lovable giant could possibly be. You’ve already checked the mess, the armoury, the Marauder and the training centres with zero sign of him. When you got to the marauder Tech just gave you that look that says, “I understand you need to find him but I’m not going to rat him out” and while you often applaud clones for their loyalty to one another, when it stops you from doing your job it makes you want to rip your own hair out in frustration.
You make your way over towards their barracks, hoping and praying to whatever deities that will listen that you’ll find him and be able to get on with the rest of your job. You take a deep breath, standing out the front of their doors, before keying in your medical override and stepping inside.
You don’t find wrecker, and you wish you had knocked.
Standing in front of you is Crosshair, in just a towel, dark lines of ink on full display over his tanned body. You’ve never actually seen him without his shirt on before, never needed to. The sniper usually manages to stay out of trouble and doesn’t need any assistance when the boys return to Kamino so you had no idea he was covered in tattoos.
You run your eyes over his chest, taking in all the impressive art that litters his toned form. The silhouette of his beloved 773 Firepuncher that stretches along his chest, the artfully done letters of aurebesh that stretch above his stomach, the other smaller words and phrases that extend down his hips, tantalizingly low, slightly obscured by the fabric of the towel that’s gripped in his left hand.
You run your eyes up his arm towards his face, knowing that he’s going to be wearing that sickeningly infuriating smirk of his and wanting to avoid the cliché “Like what you see?” you know he’s going to drawl at you like you’re in some terrible holodrama.
As you brace yourself to face him, your eyes catch on a single phrase tattooed on his left arm, slightly more patchy and faded than his other ink as if it were the result of a drunken night out in some shady tattoo parlour in the Uscru District of Coruscant. Two simple words that have a profound effect on your physiology causing even more heat to rush to your face, deepening the blush that you know is already far too pronounced on your cheeks and ears.
“Send Nudes”
You finally have the courage to snap your eyes up to his and just as you expected you’re greeted by his frustratingly handsome smirk, his eyes boring into yours, as if he’s waiting for you to say something, as if this is going to be the final nail in the coffin for your poorly hidden mutual attraction to one another that’s been simmering the last few cycles that’s threatening to reach boiling point as you maintain eye contact.
You lamely open and close your mouth trying to find something to say to the barely covered man in front of you before he decides to end your suffering, breaking the silence with the just as cliché “See something you like doc?” he raises an eyebrow at you before walking over towards his bunk, reaching into a pouch on his discarded armour and producing a toothpick, slipping it between his lips as he looks you up and down.
“I um-” you finally look away from him, suddenly finding the old training posters above his bed intensely interesting trying to figure out what to say to him as if you weren’t just ogling his naked chest and arms for an unprofessionally long amount of time.
You clear your throat “I was just looking for Wrecker… he needs his shots” your eyes dart around the room, avoiding his smug, self-satisfied face for as long as humanly possible.
You cringe at how your voice falters, yours and Crosshair’s interactions are always a battle of wits and snark, constantly trying to one up each other as the rest of the batch endeavour to ignore your vague attempts at flirting with one another. Both of you trying your best to goad the other into making the first move, dancing around the invisible line you’ve both drawn in the sand but never crossed.
From the corner of your eye, you see him walk towards you, you see his arm adjusting the towel around his hips and your eyes are drawn to that stupid tattoo on his arm again, the one that makes you want to throw professionalism out the window and jump his bones regardless of any regulations or rules that would get in the way and muddy the waters.
“Wrecker’s not here” his voice has dropped an octave, as if getting you alone in his room has made him realise that there is nothing physical stopping the two of you from muddying the waters of your relationship and taking that final step. You swallow the saliva that’s started pooling in your mouth, attempting to remind yourself that you’re on duty, you’re in the barracks, any one of the rest of his squad could walk through those doors at any moment an interrupt whatever lewd and improper things you both want to do to one another.
While you were wrestling with your own thoughts and feelings you miss how close he’s managed to get to you, his silent footsteps bringing him directly in front of you and you stare up at him. Has he always been this tall? You lock eyes with him, neither of you saying anything as you just stare at one another, each of you silently willing the other to close the distance between the two of you and take the leap.
He begins moving his face closer to yours, his warm breath brushing over your face, it smells minty you vaguely register as you move your face closer to his, closing your eyes and the distance between the two of you when suddenly you hear loud, boisterous laughter approaching from the other side of the door.
You curse under your breath. Despite this being the whole reason you’re in the barracks to begin with, you would give anything for a few more moments alone with Crosshair. Both of you pull away from one another, Crosshair grabbing a spare change of blacks and walking back into the refresher before the door to the barracks opens and you see the wayward clone himself stare at you with wide eyes. He knows he’s got nowhere to run now as you fix him with a glare that one would assume is because of the amount of time and effort you put into finding him and not because of the fact he just interrupted… whatever was about to happen between you and Crosshair.
You walk out of the barracks with Wrecker in tow, attempting to push whatever it was that was happening with Crosshair to the back of your mind, at least for now.
After another few hours on duty, you finally return to your quarters, sore exhausted and replaying the interaction you had with Crosshair over and over again in your mind. No matter how you try to distract yourself, whenever you close your eyes, you see the dark lines of ink that cover his sculpted body. Does he have more tattoos? Do the go lower? You mind is reeling, and you can’t focus on anything else, you can’t even sleep all you can think about is stupid Crosshair with his stupid tattoos and that stupid send nudes tattoo he has on his stupid arm.
You sigh, picking up your datapad in a vague attempt at tricking your brain into doing something productive when you get an idea. Arguably a terrible and stupid idea that could have a negative affect on your career but… an idea, nonetheless. Sighing and shaking your head you throw your datapad down onto your bed as you stand up to take a shower.
No… this is a terrible idea.
You undress and stare at yourself in the mirror. Maybe… its not a terrible idea? Your mind keeps going back to his tattoos and you decide to throw caution to the wind. Walking back into your bedroom you snatch up your datapad and open an encoded chat with Crosshair’s personal frequency double and triple checking the recipient to make sure what you’re about to do doesn’t end up in the wrong hands before steeling your nerves and standing in front of the mirror. The lighting isn’t the most flattering but you don’t let yourself dwell on that for too long before you strike what you hope is an appealing pose and taking a series of pictures, attempting to highlight your assets.
You flick through the pictures selecting the ones you think are the most flattering and before you have a chance to second guess yourself you send them through to Crosshair with the caption “As instructed”.
You wait for a moment, encrypted chats don’t have notifications for when the recipient has seen the messages so you wait with baited breath for a response. When one doesn’t come immediately you throw your datapad down onto your bed and run your hand through your hair, deciding that maybe he’s just not looking at his datapad right now you finally take your shower, attempting to wash away your nerves and embarrassment, pushing your fear of rejection out of your head as you let the warm spray wash over you.
When you exit the shower and towel yourself off you look at your datapad and see a reply from Crosshair. Your breath catches in your throat as you move to open the message and see that it comes with an attachment.
Holding your breath, you open the attachment only to be greeted by a picture of Crosshair, standing in the refresher in his barracks, wearing only a pair of loose fitting black pants that are pulled down to his thighs revealing what can only be described as the nicest cock you have ever seen. You’ve never thought that cocks were attractive before, but somehow he’s managed to change your mind. It’s long and thick and the way his slender fingers wrap around his girth makes your mouth water.
After spending far too much time searing the sight of it into your memory you read the text that he sent along with the photo just one simple word; “More”.
You dive into bed, datapad in one hand, legs spread however before you get a chance to take and pictures you receive another message from Crosshair, this time there is no text, only a video. You open it and press play.
You watch in pure delight as the recording of Crosshair’s hand moves over his hard, weeping length, his fingers tightening as he gets to the tip creating more pressure around the head. Small sighs and choked breaths can be heard from the audio as his hand works his cock and just as the video ends you swear you hear a whisper of your name.
You scramble to return the favour, attempting to capture the best possible angle as you manoeuvre one hand down between your legs to begin working yourself over. You have the luxury of not needing to share your living space with anyone, so you put on a bit of a show, moaning and whimpering and gasping his name as you touch yourself and push yourself over the edge with a final long moan of his name. Your chest rising and falling as you hit send before you can change your mind or second guess yourself.
Not long after that you receive the final video of the night, your mouth waters and you can feel heat rushing down south again as you watch Crosshair vigorously stroking his cock, muffled gasps and groans coming from his end as he works himself, the head of his cock is so red it’s almost purple and you can see beads of precum leaking out of the tip and running onto his hands as he brings himself closer and closer to the edge. You watch as he bites his lip, face contorting in pleasure as the lines of ink on his skin move with the rise and fall of his chest as he struggles to stay quiet.
He screws his eyes shut and bites his lip so hard you think you see him break the skin, as he stifles a moan of your name, spilling ropes of cum over himself, his hand and his chest, panting before the video ends.
You get one other message from him on the encrypted channel.

Why do you think the angst was all in the last 2 episodes?
okay. so. what's one of the biggest tenets of romance writing?
why can't they be together now?
that's it. that's the question you need to continually answer when writing a romance story, right? RMB (and the bridgerton books in general) are interesting in the way that they don't particularly take too much part in the traditional 3rd act breakup.
most writers live or die by it (and it can often be tedious, i know) so what happens when in RMB when they're married but they need a 3rd act conflict to add to the show where the drama is amped up to 100?
you have a big ass fight.
the thing is, if it's something solved by simple communication, it's irritating to watch and no one is going to enjoy it (it's also what makes or break fics in my opinion, ha). and i see this take a lot in the polin fandom tbh but it's not simple conversations they need to have and i think that there's a misconception of "oh if they just talked to one another...". great! they should talk, right? because they do. they talk more than once and it goes nowhere. they both leave the situation frustrated.
because it's a fundamental disagreement of where they stand as individuals.
it's not because colin is being dramatic, it's not because penelope won't bend. it's because they each think the other is asking too much of them in the moment and feels the other doesn't understand where they're coming from.
all penelope wants is colin to love her and accept her as she is. that includes LW and understanding where her voice comes from. all colin wants is to provide for penelope and be the man he thinks he needs to be for her. he's also worried about penelope and can't reconcile LW and his wife, the love of his life, being the same person.
penelope lays her cards out and tells that she wants him to love her and be by her side. that he, as he is, is enough for her. he comes to accept that penelope and LW are one and the same. he learns to love them both. he no longer wants penelope to split herself and he learns that just being by her side is enough for him. that he can be just who he is and that's enough.
it is, honestly, far bigger than a conversation or two. i think that gets lost since they shoved it all into 7 & 8. if it were me i would have started it somewhere in the middle of 6 tbh.
#asks#anon#polin#penelope x colin#like i have thoughts about how they needed more intimacy after the conflict but like that's nitpicking#also don't tell anyone but i would also pay some fic writers in every fandom i've ever been in to actually have them talk#a lot of writing relies too heavily on miscommunication to the point where i'm not sure people know how to use it anymore#because polin really isn't that#but that's me being picky so ignore that

The balance for an author between writing in-character and writing towards their own interests and kinks is a hard one to do well, for sure, but I'm a little bummed at how the latter seems to be overtaking the former specifically wrt Edwin for a lot of writers.
Like, for example, if you want me to buy the Edwin of your kinky dom dreams, there's a lot of character work that I personally will need to buy in. And maybe I'm just not your ideal reader and you shouldn't worry about pleasing me, but it feels like a specific fanon version of Edwin is gaining steam and overpowering other characterizations of him and I'm bummed about it.
Honestly, I'm all for people who want to keep the fandom going despite the show being cancelled, but the more the fandom drifts away from canon, the less interested I'm becoming, personally. I love fannish creativity, but I'm here because I loved what the show was doing and the more than fandom ignores the parts of the show I was most interested in, the less I want to be here.
I've already been bummed for a while that Jenny and even Niko are often absent in fic and that Crystal and the Night Nurse get side-lined, (it's super frustrating to me that the fandom feels less diverse than the show) and I think I've exhusted the fics that center them, but now it feels like fandom is just fully running off and doing their own thing with Edwin and it's getting harder to find fic and meta that approach him in the ways that I'm interested in.
I tend to only make one or two fanworks per fandom and I'm fundamentally more drawn to making gen or gen-adjacent works (hey hey I'm ace) and I've made everything at this point that I feel compelled to, so for me it's now just finding things other people are doing that I connect with and I'm not just coming up with that many at this point.
And this isn't me trying to shame people into making things I'd be more into (though I would be thrilled) or shame people for making things I'm not into (you do you even if I'm not going to follow), rather its me being kind of sad that the fandom isn't working out for me the way I'd hoped after watching the show. And since I don't have a new shiny thing I feel fannish about I just feel adrift: I don't fit in this fandom and I could try to turn back to older things I've felt fannish about or try to find some hot new-to-me thing to fall in love with, but I fell in love with *this* show and I want to be *here*. It's just that here isn't the place I'd hoped it would be. And it's no one's fault, no one is doing anything wrong, apart from maybe some background pervasive internalized shit present in most fandoms and also life, but it's still sad. It's still a bummer.
Anyway, this got off track and kind of turned into a little bit of a 'it's not goodbye yet, but it's heading in that direction' ask, but yeah. I just feel very disconnected from the fandom as a whole and what I see happening wrt fanon Edwin is emblematic of that disconnect, to me.
Thanks to everyone who posts thoughtful things about all the ladies and Charles, either here or elsewhere in fandom -- you all are keeping me hanging on, at least for the moment.
