i havent played dst in awhile what is that thing

new thing from the halloween update! They're called void masques i'm not sure if it's just for halloween or if it's a permanent feature actually but i think it's here to stay

basically it's those mask things! they spawn when rifts are activated in a world around nightmare fissure if i understood correctly? But basically those things will possess mobs and can even possess you the player if you die!

and apparently the characters have quotes for seeing their own possessed corpse, maxwell's says "Jack? Wait, no." ( thank you plushee for giving everyone the quotes when the wiki isn't updated yetttt )

What bums me out is Dev's story isn't set to end on a downer note for him. This isn't meant to be the last episode. But it very well might be if the show doesn't get renewed. That is what leaves me with a sour feeling when it comes to the finale.

Not the fact this happened in particular but more the idea the ending for Dev's character may really be right where he started.

thanks for the harrow meta! a lot of people overlook the fact that receiving special education services doesn't mean you're 'not smart' or 'not good at school' necessarily, just that you have a quantifiable disability that interferes with your education in some form. i have known students with ieps with 4.0s in mostly gen ed classes but they were only that successful because their disability was being identified and addressed fairly

thank you! the gifted kid narrative gets brought up a LOT, im very familiar with it bc points. thats me. but i think itd be interesting to have harrow in a position where she might have someone advocating for her to get the help she needs wrt deadline extensions and modifications for class ect ect. harrow IS disabled. she hides it well enough for someone like gideon whos been in close proximity not to have noticed their whole lives. but thats basically only bc she had the ability to trust someone, in this case crux, to help her out when it overwhelms her. that fact and her being a genius arent mutually exclusive. and i think she was as successful as she was in the empires version of academics partially because she was literally allowed to do whatever she wanted, aka disappear for 14 hours a day to read evil spell books. i think a traditional school setting would be challenging enough for her to have to make some actionable adjustments.

this all being in the beautiful hypothetical where she isnt homeschooled by a religious cult, of course

Now I don’t know much about anything, but is it weird to act like Gotham is so culturally distinct from everything around it and the rest of the state it’s in? People be saying stuff like you can hear the difference in how people in different parts of the city talk (especially crime alley. It’s literally one street there’s no way it’s that different from the rest of the city and the streets around it to the point where you could see and hear a difference??) but like, with most cities isn’t there a significant amount of people coming and going from the rural areas for work and school if nothing else?? Idk if I’m the crazy one or if this is a flandersization

Oh dear you might of asked this to the wrong person friend considering I'm Irish and the city I'm most familiar with is Belfast which if you know you know but yeah I'm aware America is probably very different but from my own experience yeah while it may be a little exaggerated gotham is usually depicted with a literal thunder cloud over it I would say a city can be vastly different especially a city like gotham which seem to have a lot of wealthy mixed with a lot of poor people which I'd also say would contribute a lot to those differences in regards to work and school yeah there is a lot of people who would travel into the city but there's still a lot of people native to the city i think if I'm honest you should ask someone from new York or at least someone familiar with that city since gotham is actually based on new York at night

okay so when i was very new to the pjo fandom i had alot of thoughts about being queer and being a half blood, so heres an old rant of mine edited a bit (alot) to be semi coherent and postable!

Being a half blood is by definition queer, not normal. Half bloods are unable to fit in with mortals, they're too different, too strange. Yet, they're able to find community at camp half blood, a place with others like them, others just as weird and different. I think this is something that resonates with alot of queer people, it's at the very least something alot of us have dreamed of or experienced something similar to.

Another thing that I think is worth mentioning is how we see, especially with Annabeth talking about her family–mortals sometimes almost demonizing half bloods, treating them as dangerous. Once again, in a way this speaks to alot of queer people. Being treated as dangerous for something you can not control, something that's just simply a part of who you are, the way you were born.

I think it might be worth mentioning how it's nearly impossible for a god to be cishet? Especially alot of the greek gods were as queer as can be. Humanity feels the need to fit themselves into boxes gods have no need for, half bloods i think fit right in the middle of that which i think might be a little reminiscent of how queer people are shoved into boxes that shouldn't exist by others around them.

I have no idea how to segue properly SO, MY FINAL POINT: The concept of being a half blood is something that i think speaks to alot of people, as a half blood you don't fit in, as a queer person you don't fit in; yet as either there are other's like you, a community that will welcome you with open arms.
