I don't like mean judges, they make me feel bad. But I also know it's a persona and likely not what they are like in real life. However, you go to Twitter or places online and there are real people taking it extremelly personally, threatening death or harassing the judges. So like I get why the classic Simon Cowell attitude has gone down

yeah fair, but i don't mean Simon Cowell. a lot of the times his criticism over the years just felt negative to be negative (so were his past judgments but i was too young to truly understand)

Len Goodman knew his shit. he's been a dance judge years before Dancing with the Stars even began, so a lot of his "mean", "bad guy" attitude is just him being blunt and unapologetic about his feedback. the audience will boo because Carrie Anne and Bruno were so positive and gave the stars a happy compliment sandwich, but he didn't fucking care

honestly, a lot of that could've just been his age and long experience, so whether or not his feedback was received well by the audience didn't mean shit to him so long as the stars and dancers understood and applied his feedback in later dances

another thing: the whole dynamic with the judges feels so unbalances because there's no one there to achor them back into the constructive feedback since all of them take care to be nice and hype up the stars' dancing. Len Goodman worked as a dwts judge because his "negativity" bounced back with Carrie Anne's positivity and emotion AND Bruno's hype man energy. if Bruno and Carrie focused too much on the positives, Len was there to provide them. if Len started off the judgements, Carrie and Bruno were there to blanket his statements with the praise

even when Derek started to judge with them, there was still a healthy balance between the feedback provided

we don't really have that judge right now to help keep a healthy balance and, personally, i think it affects the feedback the couples need to hear in order to progress and improve

oh, are you familiar with the BoM side story? where arthur dreams of different characters in different fairy tales? i’ve become so! obsessed! with the snow queen versions of sebaciel. ciels outfit is so pretty on him!! but i love a ciel that left everything behind to stay with sebastian.. and sebastian, he’s been so lonely for so long that when he gets a pretty boy he can’t let him go. when someone tries to save him they not only get a “no” but get forcefully snow-blasted right out the door. they understand each other because no one sees the beauty in desolation like they do… so of course they stay isolated in a castle together.

there’s the panel where sebastian’s wrapping his coat around ciels whole body… sebastian acting so smugly to ciels rescuers… the line where ciel says he belongs to the devil… i could live here forever… please consider this cold angle of sebaciel

The implication that the whole dream was of Sebastian's doing (which he is very capable of judging by GWA) brings out such an interesting twist to it - we can see a glimpse of Sebastian's actual opinion on other characters! But I'm of course going to talk a little about Ciel solely for today hehe

I might be wrong since I only have ru and eng translation at hand, but the way Ciel talks about his heart being frozen and eye belonging to the devil makes me think of these acts as essentially same thing, especially given that he "adapted beautifully to the world of Ice" by Sebastian's words. I mean that his heart being frozen doesn't equal to death or inability to feel, but rather just that, adaptation and belonging.

Now I know it sounded far-fetched, but the reason It caught my attention in the first place was the mentioning of the heart at all. It's a dream made by Sebastian, the 'emotionless' and 'unfeeling' demon, with clear analogy to the contract built on power, revenge, and hunger for one's soul, or at least that is how it always was portrayed before. So why would his made up dream-Ciel suddenly bring a heart into equation?

You should've seen my face when I got to the chapter were Elizabeth escapes to rCiel. Call me delulu but it suddenly made so much sense when Sebastian started talking how "human hearts are mysterious, complex things" and "no matter if you are demon or god it is truly and utterly impossible to shackle another's heart." Before that I wouldn't even think he'd have any opinion on the matters of the heart, let alone it be a stated fact to him that he can't have it in a way he can own souls or bodies.

And so that man, in his made up dream, with a made up Ciel, made that Ciel say that not only his soul (eye) belongs to the devil, but heart too. Knowing for a fact it can't belong to him in reality. I'm speechless.

Also when I got your ask yesterday I thought I should make a fanart or a redraw of that scene, and once again, you should've seen my face when I found the page:

BULLETIN: AG Garland appoints Hunter special counsel, BUT it's David Weiss

In breaking news Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced his appointment of a special counsel in the Hunter Biden case.  And who might that be?  Why, the most inappropriate choice possible:  David Weiss, the same federal prosecutor in (yes) Delaware who has been leading the so-called investigation into Hunter's tax and financial improprieties.

We've said that any special counsel tasked with investigating the Bidens should not be appointed by Biden's own AG but by a panel of judges.  Too late now.

Garland said that Weiss had come to him saying that the investigation had reached a stage at which he should continue his work as a special counsel, and that "he asked to be appointed."  Talk about deja vu --- wasn't there a story that Weiss earlier had asked to be made special counsel and was turned down?  For some reason, the timing is better now.  Better for whom?  I think we know.

Given what IRS whistleblowers have said about the investigation to this point, and the odd coordination between Weiss and Hunter's legal team on Hunter's outrageous "get out of jail free" plea deal, it would seem that both the selection of Weiss and the timing of his appointment are designed to keep the Biden investigation under wraps.  House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio said through a spokesman, "David Weiss can't be trusted and this is just a new way to whitewash the Biden family's corruption.  Weiss has already signed off on a 'sweetheart' plea deal that was so awful and unfair that a federal judge rejected it.  We will continue to pursue facts brought to light by brave whistleblowers as well as Weiss's inconsistent statements to Congress."

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer of Kentucky released a statement as well:  "This move by AG Garland is part of the Justice Department's efforts to attempt a Biden family cover-up in light of [the Oversight Committee's] mounting evidence of President Biden's role in his family's schemes selling 'the brand' for millions of dollars to foreign nationals."

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith said, "I think that this should be concerning to all Americans --- this attempt to whitewash the Biden family corruption.  I mean, Mr. Weiss is the single architect over that sweetheart plea agreement/deal that the judge in Delaware threw out just a few weeks ago."  He fears this is just another attempt to stonewall Congress and block their oversight authority.

Weiss was supposed to be going before Congress himself in September or October; it had been cleared with the DOJ.  But that testimony almost certainly will be put on hold now --- perhaps even until all his work is completed!  One might imagine what Jim Jordan has to say about that, and it's probably not printable.

Legal analyst Andrew C. McCarthy said, "Under Weiss, the statute of limitations continues to run."  That would encompass behavior relating to Hunter's lucrative "work" on the Burisma board during 2014-2015.  "Every day Weiss doesn't go in to indict the case, the case is disappearing."

McCarthy also pointed out that what makes a special counsel "special" is that he or she is brought in from completely outside the government.  That's specifically the way the law is written.  "And that's because there's a conflict of interest that prevents the Biden Justice Department from investigating the President's son for conduct that implicates the President.

"So, this guy's just a vehicle for them to flush the case," McCarthy continued.  "...Under the special counsel regulations, he's NOT QUALIFIED.  He's not eligible to be a special counsel.  This whole thing is a sham."

In another announcement, the DOJ has dropped Hunter's plea deal case in Delaware --- thank you, Judge Maryellen Noreika, for not rubber-stamping it --- meaning it appears they're planning to go on to trial, probably in California because that's where Hunter was living during the years in question.  President Biden and his crew are headed out to Delaware this weekend for a little R&R and likely have deferred all questions to Hunter's legal team.

Debunking the Hand

Details everything so it's lengthy. TLDR, skip to starting paragraph first word that's in blue. Still, reading everything gives a broader picture.

Background

In 2019, ZZH went on an acting competition show called: Stand By Me《演员请就位》(link)The competition involves having actors to play certain roles in a short movie (about 30mins) directed by the panel judges cum esteemed Directors.

ZZH was chosen by Director Zhao Wei and he starred in the short movie: Brother《哥》(link) The genre (as provided in link) is tagged: Sibling, relationship, mental illness, brothers

[Left image] Firstly, the date the movie aired was on 7 December 2019, ZZH posted the image 5 days later, on 15 December 2019.

(There is technically no past tense/present tense in Chinese) For international fans, you may compare the movie screenshot above, with the caption boxed in red, and the Chinese words ZZH posted + bottom part of the image: Wilson (王森), the actor who played the older brother in this movie. [Left image] Thirdly, the hand raise itself, is in reference to the movie, his older brother. Referencing from above, his older brother (in the movie), raises almost a straight vertical 180 - pic 9, while ZZH's circulated image is lower. Because he was, and could be metaphorically reaching for his brother's hand (see picture above).

[Left image - reference below] I just realised this myself. Lastly, Pattern A: look at the spread of the image in the post. There's a distinct pattern: 3 selfies in the middle (pics 4-6), pics 1 & 3 with his buddy + corresponding inverted triangle pic 8 (no duplicated background or pattern), pics 2, 7, 9 are half body shots, of which 2 out 3 was where the Memorial Hall was.

[Right image] Pattern B: The whole image itself looks like ZZH is sitting on the stairs, under a shelter. The center image is like the close up version of the 8th picture.

5-6 different locations, with the right lineage, to create a post with a bigger picture, no coincidence works this way.

Remember that ZZH is a very detailed actor, there is a reason why Ah-Xu was so well liked. That's why from this, it can further amplify he's very detail-oriented, see below for his line of thought in curation:

In that case, if it's planned, why the location then? (Please open up and zoom in to both right and left to see clearly)

Look at pic 2 again, the railings is horizontal, a perfect sense of link for 1 and 3, through his hand. Look at pic 7, there's also the railings, but he stands in the middle, creating a leeway for a 90°, look at pic 9, the angle is taken from a left to right perspective = he needs railings because it is flexible to take straight lines, with a person.

Being on weibo long, and having followed his account over the past 5 months, his curation of photo pattern is prevalent, it usually always has a message (which is why LLD have sweets each time they posted sth, both GJ and ZZH's spreads can create meanings).

What he needed was just the railings, but it happened to coincide with the Memorial Hall, so this could just be an unlucky coincidence that the photo was taken with resemblance of the Nazi hand, and with the Memorial Hall in the background.

This was what was in circulation, it was straight up just that one picture compared side by side to the Nazi gesture (ignore the Chinese). See how they conveniently narrowed the scope of issue and cause a fuss?

Why Dazai is a complex character

We all know how hard it is to get in this man’s mind, right?

First, let’t take a look on what makes a character complex:

- Conflicted or contradictory motives - Change or grow as a result of the story’s actions - Decisions advance the story’s plot - Create conflict in the story’s plot or theme - Learn something about themselves

 It fits Dazai perfectly, right? Now let’s take them one by one.

1. Conflicted or contradictory motives

- to die/to find meaning/to save others/? What the audience is given to realize is that Dazai wants salvation through death. His desire to die comes with a shade of humor to hide how sad and tragic it really is. Other than that, one motive of his is the promise he made to his friend who died on his arms. You see it right? Dazai’s motives are contradictory because he saves people but can’t really save himself. Although Dazai is on the side of ‘good’ which is actually something that doesn’t really exist in BSD world because everything is more like in a gray area, his motives are more focused on others rather than himself. While on the mafia, his focus was on himself, his doom and suffering. That’s what made him so miserable. People aren’t sure whether Dazai has changed, and they question his conflicted motives. But in reality, it’s very simple. Dazai has no hidden motives other than the ones we already know. He’s not the type to aim for power and fortune. Dazai just wants a bit of happiness, he wants to answer questions that are impossible to answer. I’d like to quote a Dostoevsky saying:

“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth.” ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment

2. Change or grow as a result of the story’s actions Dazai’s grow is something people fail to see. I’ve read thoughts on this matter and some claim that Dazai hasn’t changed at all. That is partly true.  Before Oda’s death, Dazai was not open to people (and still isn’t) but the difference stays on how he dealt with it. In the dark era, Dazai drowned himself in misery, seeing only darkness and claiming that this is how it always has been for him. Whilst in the time being, Dazai hides his misery behind a smile and happy facade. Bsck then, he made no attempt to change, nor did he tried to look things differently. Dazai was alone, completely. There were times he was surrounded by people he genuinely cared about, like Oda. Now, the thing is, without Oda, Dazai may have never gotten the development he got. Hardly would the things lead differently if Oda was still alive. With Oda, Dazai felt comfortable, not judges. He felt like he could open up with him because Oda would always listen to Dazai without joking around or judging him. That’s the reason why Odasaku was the only person that came close to understanding Dazai, because he was the only one Dazai opened up to. I believe that is becuase in reality, Dazai trusted Oda. We know how easily he can see through people. Perhaps, he saw in Oda that kindness and goodness that intrigued him. He saw such integrity and selflessness that made him lower his guard.  Their relationship was beautiful. They let aside the ranks and always had each other’s backs. Sometimes, between two people, it just clicks. It feels like you’ve known each other for a long time and you find yourself comfortable, you let yourself be. That’s how Dazai was. Maybe, the only thing that kept him happy, was his friendship with Odasaku and Ango. Because those were two people that accepted him the way he was, people who appreciated life and had dreams and goals, something that Dazai longs to have. When Odasaku died, Dazai’s hope died with him. Although extremely intelligent, Dazai is optimistic. He had hope that he’d find a solution to his problem, but Oda’s words shattered him.

Dazai did not cry. But you can tell that he’s ready to. Look at his face and tell me that that’s not the most devastating Dazai you have ever seen. His lip trembles and his eyes give away how hard it is for him, how hard it has always been. This is the moment that Dazai takes the decision to change, keeping the promise of his friend to become a good man and protect others.

3- Decisions advance the story’s plot Dazai is the one who comes up with brilliant strategies, but that’s not all of it. 

- He took Atsushi under his mentoring and hired him as an agent in the ADA.  Atsushi plays a very important role in almost every mission or situation that ADA is in.  If Atsushi wasn’t in the ADA, things might have gone completely different. - Dazai decided to join the good side. Yet again, if Dazai didn’t join the ADA, there would be no Atsushi, no shin-soukoku and probably the ADA would have already fallen due to the immense power the mafia would have with Dazai in it. More people would die, wars would destroy the city and things may have gotten to be worse. - The creation of shin-soukoku The plot goes around Atushi and Akutagawa as the new generation of the double black, a powerful duo brought together for the good of the city, to defeat the greater evil. Their mentor, who sees the potential in them better than everyone else, has forcefully made them work together, which had successful results. If Dazai didn’t make such decision, Atsushi and Akutagawa may had already killed each other. - Dazai decides almost any plan and strategy there is. He plays his cards well and the way he thinks and acts determine the aftermath.

4- Create conflict in the story’s plot or theme - Dazai’s a problematic character for a lot of reasons. He’s lazy, distracted, unbothered, mysterious and secretive. Sometimes, unwillingly he creates conflicts that sometimes as viewed lightly by the audience. Like the shin-soukoku conflict. A part why Aku hates Atsushi is because he is Dazai’s junior  and that he gets almost everything that he himself once desired. He gets praise and acknowledgment from Dazai. The latter, has not acknowledged Aku that way he wants to, but surely he has acknowledged him on his own way. Dazai made him part of the new double black and puts his trust in him and Atsushi. Dazai too believes in the quote that ‘only a diamond can polish a diamond’. Furthermore, we have the conflict between the mafia and the ADA. You may think that it’s not directly tied to Dazai, but he plays a major role. Having Dazai in the opposite team, makes it harder for the mafia to create successful operations. Not only Dazai’s intelligent and cunning, but he’s an ex-member himself which makes him even more of a threat to the mafia. His suicidal tendencies is the reason why he met Atsushi in the first place. So in a way, Dazai drives the plot of the story.

5- Learn something about themselves I believe that this is the point we are all looking forward to. Although we have already caught a glimpse of Dazai considering his worth as a human being in the Dead apple movie, but also in the manga countless times.

Just look at his expression. How his eyes close so peacefully when Atsushi claims that he does things that let him know that Daza’s a good guy (visiting graves and also in the end of the movie...)

Dazai sees himself rather harshly. He judges himself for his past and puts himself in constant misery. Maybe he doesn’t accept the fact that he’s a ‘good guy’, but he’s desperately trying to be.

Take a look to the following panel (chapter 50)

You can tell how much Dazai wants to help and this warms my heart so much.

“Yosano could heal me and I could help in the search”

 He clenches the sheet because of the frustration of not being able to help; that his ability is holding him back. 

HE’S BLAMING HIMSELF.

Like one would say that he’s injured, or that he was shot, but no. Dazai puts the blame on himself like he always does.

I’d like people to acknowledge Dazai’s growth because our boy is trying so hard. Dazai literally went from hell to salvation. He has already found his salvation but he hasn’t recognized that yet.

In conclusion, Dazai is the complex character we so much love. In the future, maybe we’ll be able to see him a bit more happy. Genuinely happy.

Chapter 137, “Titans”, was one of the most polarizing chapters in recent memory, provoking strong reactions both positive and negative.  When we compiled the results, the chapter averaged 4.09 on a 1-5 scale, which places it 37th out of the 47 chapters we’ve ranked. No matter how you view it, it’s still a solid rating.

While the pacing was somewhat spotty, overall, the chapter was absolutely fantastic and very fulfilling and answered a lot of the things I had wanted answered.

i thought it was amazing. sad, yes, but amazing. i loved reading zeke and armin’s conversation in the Paths. i just really hope eren doesn’t die. with all the deaths that’s happened, his is the only one i won’t be able to bare. i already lost my favorite character, sasha, i can’t lose him too.

I had no reason to cry but I did anyways 👍

Before we get to the MVP results we’d like to make one quick shout out to a past poll. In 135 we asked who would be the one to detonate the explosives. Of the 1,121 responses that month, only 29 people correctly predicted it would be Jean. So while Jean only received 6.8% of the MVP vote for this act, we think those 29 people deserved some acknowledgement.

With Zeke and Armin comprising more than 20 pages of the chapter, it’s no surprise the majority of favorite moments centered around them. “Zeke and Armin’s discussing of the meaning of life” garnered one-fifth of all responses (20.2%), followed by “Zeke seeing the beauty of the world” (14.7%).  “Levi making good on his promise” (14.5%) was the third most selected option. “Armin reminiscing about the happy moments of his past”  was fourth (13.6%). everything in this chapter was amazing, there's literally nothing that doesn't makes me happy (except Zeke's death, it made me cry-)

Zeke‘s reflection and death are my favorite panels in the manga. It lives rent free in my mind. This is my favorite chapter of the manga so far.

I liked how Isayama had Jean reuse the suicidal blockhead nickname

I loved seeing Levi take a sort of protective, fatherly role when helping Gabi take out the Okapi Titan. And seeing him finally fulfill his promise and vow to Erwin is refreshing and makes me feel happy.

I loved the conversation between Zeke and Armin. Zeke was always nihilistic, he saw life as dry and meaningless. Armin is on the opposite - he found the meaning of life in the little happy moments. He taught Zeke that life isn't only about multiplication , but about higher, happier and more spiritual things, like love, having fun or watching sunsets and sunrises. I'm glad that Zeke found his own meaning of life and understood that there was nothing wrong about him being born on this world and he would do it once again, if he had a chance. We can add their conversation to the list of the best conversations in the manga.

it was a great chapter, and Armin & Zeke's talk was the highlight for me.

i love that scene where levi was protecting gabi from falling off falco's titan

Armin transforming and saying bye to Eren gave me absolute chills.

♡ This chapter has one of the touching scenes on AOT, because of everyone's helos moment, the unexpected character development, the fulfillment of the promise, worthy sacrifices, the reunion of the well known past titan shifters especially helping all the alliances, and the unexpected goodbyes.

  WHO WAS THIS CHAPTER'S MVP? 2,165 Responses

There were two stand-outs in this chapter. Zeke won MVP by an Eldian ass hair at 35.9% of the vote, with Armin a smidge behind at 35.5%. Third place goes to a truly majestic cameo by the Cambrian explosion at 8.4%. Looking back at that old sketch, it really does feel like the end of an era. 44.6% of respondents thought Zeke’s end was a good and poetic way to go out. 29% were sad to see him go but were glad he had some agency - even throwing out a last bit of sass at Levi! 12.4% didn’t like how it happened as it was somewhat sudden and maybe not as epic as it could’ve been. 7.6% question if it’s really the end for Zeke quite yet, and 6.4% have no strong opinions about it.

A fitting end for a great character

I think his ending was very poetic but could have been executed much better.

In terms of writing, he was the third best character in the post-time skip section of the story. He deserved a better ending.

10/10 character, one of my all time favourites. In theory, I like the idea of him sacrificing himself to stop Eren, but with the build up he had (mainly the way Grisha said he would save everyone) it was an extremely disappointing death.

I love him and via development. The thing is that the way he was killed was rushed as fuck and kinda killed my enjoyment of his last moments. If worked better, pretty sure I would have cried.

I really liked the way Zeke's character arc ended, and he remains one of my favorite characters in the series.

I was underwhelmed...I hoped to get much more out of him than what we did. But I guess this is expected when you introduce like 10 new characters and try to cram their entire arcs in less than 30 chapters at the expense of the original protagonists' (I'm not salty...I swear...).

I'm happy that his arc ended the way it did. As the above question said, it was poetic. But more than anything else, it was meaningful.

I've always found him interesting. I love how his role in the story evolved as time went on. One of the best characters in Attack on Titan.

I mean, when they released his flashbacks as a child, I already started sympathising with him. Also his paths adventure with Eren. But this chapter really solidified it for me. The guy was just a sad boy who wanted love and thought he was doing the right thing.

He was an "end justify the means " person. I don't like him still.

I mean... it was nice to see him realise that he wouldn't mind being born again, but I was still a bit miffed by the fact that he still believed that his euthanasia plan was the way to go (it sort of diluted the impact of the conversation between him and Armin). Also liked that he acknowledged the innocent people he had murdered, so I'd give his character a 6/10.

♡ All this time I've been hating Zeke. Call me childish but I do even hate him more to the extent that I wan't him to die a horrible death, just because he gave problems to my fave character Levi. But now that he's changed and gone I feel bad and sad. But I accepted his fate and that he is dead for good.

I've always enjoyed Zeke's character. Ever since picking up the manga after Season 1 what feels like an eternity ago and he's one of my favorite characters. That being said... This chapter made me dislike him a bit.

I hated him from the beginning for what he did to Mike, and his actions during RtS didn't improve my opinion either. Even his sad backstory didn't influence how I felt about him. And then in chapter 137 a tiny miracle happened, and moments before he died I actually felt something. Sadness. Empathy. Respect, even.  Goodbye Zeke, you were a great character.

I loved Zekes character. Even as he attacked Paradis Island you could see his methodical viewpoint on their roles in all of this. He always was working the end game and their ability to not be used as pawns. We may not have always agreed with his path and believe me, there were moments I hated him. So many, but he also knew his moment in this time and what his role was. His death was a righteous one and I loved that Levi was able to fulfill his promise.

I thought his character was probably one of the best in the story, with a very well defined beliefs/viewpoint and a bunch of interesting characterwork.

I'm glad he got to understand that the world is beautiful before dying, I was angry because of all the things he did but chapter by chapter I came to realise  how sad his life was, he only had little moments to be happy and be a normal kid/person, I'm not justifying his actions but I'm not judging him either.

I love Zeke as a character. He is well written on his own and also has a drastic effect on a lot of characters. I think that Zeke realizing that there are other ways to look at life and his way was not the most convenient one makes the viewer realize that no one is wrong and no one is right. I think his death was pleasing enough and he look liked he didn't have major regrets in life, other than the one he discussed with Armin.

At first he seemed to me a very cruel and conflictive character but he has had a great development and a dignified closing for his unfortunate path

He was a really important character to the whole plot. His presence always influences the story heavily. I am kinda neutral to what to feel about him.

He was a typical Yeager - only the way he believed should be what all the others had to believe too. So I was glad that he turned around in this last chapter of his.

He's just like every other character in SnK: War Criminal with a backstory. What he went through as a child and a teenager creates a soft spot for him; but doesn't justify his killings and the euthanasia plan. I liked Zeke's detached approach on humanity, as I completely relate with his philosophy during the conversation with Armin. Even though at first I was repulsed by his sociopathic tendencies (rip Mike) his character definitely stood out. Everything about him felt rational and original, and I still believe his plan was the most logical one. Great character.

I like Zeke, he was represented as a villain but like all the characters, he's the hero of his own story. He was strong, smart, and tried to stop massive killings. I loved his relationship with Levi too (even though he almost killed him) and I loved Levi's expression when he finally killed him. I expected him to die fighting, but I like how he went down.

My thoughts are neutral. I think he had no choice in his life- he too was enslaved. Although, it would have been better to see more of his relationship with Tom Ksaver. That seems to be who he really is, and who he really believes himself to be.

Zeke character is seriously much more deeper than we think he is. Not trying to write an essay here, I'll just say that Armin, Eren, Levi, etc have suffered with the loss of their loved ones. Zeke never even had the chance to be loved.

Zeke character was tragic. He just wanted to live a normal life. At the end, he gave up on his dreams and died, just like Erwin.

Zeke could’ve been one of the best characters in the manga if he had more time to shine it felt like he was either the mysterious villain or a pawn in someone else’s game zeke should’ve had way more of an impact on the story and been less of a plot device

Ymir basically tried to make her own version of Instrumentality. I do think we need more elaboration on her perspective so her changing her mind is emphasised. I've been theorising she will betray Eren at some point, but with the lack of POV both on her and Eren's part, it does seem questionable.

I feel like she just didn’t want to be alone anymore. and because she’s the founder she wanted a connection between her and her subjects or her people. it’s understandable why she would help eren with trying to achieve his goal but it also makes sense for her to help the alliance stop eren because she is now free.

i have no idea if it makes sense plot-wise but since one of the primary human needs is connection it's believable and touching

I'm surprised because I believed that was the empty, lonely world  created by her subconscious mind or desire for serving the king. Now it looks like it is the world where she feels safe and is waiting for someone to give her what she desires.

Despite the lack of exact origin, this make sense, specially if we see other science fiction war-politic drama, as the first Gundam Series, or Foundation.

Explaining the origin of the spine creature was necessary imo, but I think the origins of the Paths should have been left vague. This explanation is a little weak.

Paths became pretty stupid after Ymir was introduced.

I think she fled, got parasite'd, and that....thing has been in control of the Titans ever since, trapping the mind of a little girl in Paths for 2000 years.  Finally, someone with the Founder was able to contact her and say "You can do whatever you want!" so she just...let him have power, so she could roam freely for a bit.

I thought that we were going to get a different explanation, since PATHS is something supernatural but if Isayama wants that then Im ok with it, remember we are in a story with 16 meters giants, dont expect science explanations here lol

I understand the phrase, but I fail to see why her character turned this way given the hardships she suffered. Indeed, why did she keep obeying King Fritz instead of giving him a lesson?

I want to know why and how it spread to all Eldians instead of just shifters.

It makes sense to me, and it's a good explanation, but I have a feeling that there may be more to it.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but she was stuck for so long, that it’s initial purpose has lost meaning.

It would need a lot more explanation. How does the (still-unexplained) tree spine give her the capability to form an alternate supernatural dimension? And why would THIS be the way to form those connections, rather than, say, NOT forming massive monsters to kill people on earth? How does wandering around an endless desert alone forming weapons of mass destruction for thousands of years feel safe and connected? It's flimsy.

I still would like to see Paths destroyed in the end, though, otherwise they'll be stuck there forever and never be able to move on.

Ymir was surprised when she entered paths in 122. She didn't expect but from what we've seen from 122, we can say that "escaping to a world free of even death" holds the most meaning. I never saw it as her desire for safety, Connection of course is existent though.

I don't know, but here's my opinion. I'd say Zeke finally open his eyes to the truth, and now he wished to do as much as he can to stop Eren before his time comes. I believe that's the reason he exposed himself to Levi, and why he chose to die after calling every titan shifters to help aid Eren's friends stop Eren. Does it make sense?

i love the idea of zeke becoming a "optimistic nihilist" but didn't at all like how rushed it was executed.

I mean, it sure could've been explored more, but we have to take into account that Zeke had been in paths for a long time (maybe for what it felt like millions of years) and by that point he felt hopeless; his dream was no longer going to become a reality, he couldn't change anything and was trapped there forever, then Armin came and gave him a different perspective, he listened and found something of value in it while at the same time not completly discarding Xaver's ideology. I like it!

This change is fine in principle. It's change from his idea of euthanasia and "better not be born" toward "eventhough life is suffering too, it's worth living". But it was rushed, it would have been more believable if the idea germinated in his mind. So between the Yes and No answer.

What change of heart, he was reminded from what he found happiness in life which he was enjoying subconscioulsy before aka playing catch. An activity he started enjoying as a kid. It was a game, something kids enjoy not a heavy burden of "saving everyone" as Grisha implanted onto him.

Zeke had this change coming - it was built up throughout the Paths chapters. The primary boogeyman figure of his life turned out to be a good man, and he apologised, turning his entire worldview upside down (not counting the whole "Stand, dad" thing) He had an eternity in Paths to process the events of ch120-122 (and maybe his entire life before that) multiple times over. Armin found him at his most vulnerable, betrayed and alone once more. Their debate back and forth, all done with mutual respect, was amazingly written. Armin showed him the way, gave him that one final nudge he needed in the right direction. It's perfectly believable, and fitting.

Now this moment was a little controversial. 42.5% thought it was awesome seeing our old friends take control of their titans to save their loved ones. 29.9% liked what the scene was going for but thought it needed more setup or foreshadowing. 18.9% were not happy at all to see such a shonen scene in this manga. This chapter continued to showcase some more of the past Titan Shifters throughout the ages. What was most interesting of the past Titan Shifters that appeared in this chapter to fight the past alliance members was that some of the same Titan Shifters that appeared during Ymir's flashback in Chapter 122 can be seen fighting the Alliance in this chapter.

I thought it was interesting to finally have Freckled Ymir's description of being a mindless titan get touched upon again. She said that it was like a never ending nightmare. All the shifters Ymir and Eren summoned were asleep in that nightmare, until Zeke and Armin were able to wake them up, if only for a brief amount of time. There was a reason we saw Bertolt crying after Armin ate him. And we were only reminded again in Chapter 135 when Armin saw Bertolt crying again. I don't think these shifters gaining some of there consciousness back is an ass pull at all. We were given some bread crumbs to believe that at least dead shifters exist in some way in Paths after death.

What was the deciding factor in whether or not a shifter returned for the battle? The most popular in world explanation was that  “Zeke could only awaken those he’d met before” (33.6%). On Levi killing Zeke, I feel like that's narratively sloppy and only serves as some shitty ass way to make Levi relevant, since there isn't really much to his character anymore. 35.9% agree that Zeke was always the key linking Eren to the full Founder abilities, so his death would put the rumbling on hold. It wouldn’t be Attack on Titan without a host of new theories with each new chapter! We tried to grab the most common ones to see which had the most traction. I'm still hoping that they can have a happy ending. The deserves it after all the fights.

I've heard so many different theories on how this series could end and now that we are on the final chapters almost nothing has gone with my expectations. I was blown out of the water with how this final fight went. With expectations for this series so high its impossible for it to satisfy everyone. But I'm really happy with how everything turned out. A lot of plot threads are being closed up in satisfying ways and I'm content with the character development everyone is getting.

There are a few things I've been disappointed about, like the lack of Eren's point of view. But I'll hold off judgment till the series ends. I think i'll enjoy rereading this section of the story once it's finished. I caught up with the manga around 117 and waiting monthly for these chapters was made everything seem longer that it probably actually was. Overall I'm happy with how everything went.

Zeke sort of reminds me of Johan from monster. both had a messed up asf childhood and life in general. both didn't find pleasures in life at all, like simple pleasures like tea or coffee to life and people. Because they knew for themselves life had no meaning. therefore both of them could do basically whatever they wanted sorta bc life had no meaning to them and was destined to go extinct if that makes sense. To them, their actions were justified bc they had no meaning in life. But armin, this hope in the world, also knew the world was cruel. however he chose to find pleasures in it rather than distrusting it all together. He found hope in his friends and reading and more, even if it meant getting hurt by people. I believe armin will talk. This chapter messed me up man. Zeke used to be my least favorite character cause he was weird but now he's one of my favs. His death was def one of the hardest for me. ugh what a beautiful chapter. I wish they all found meaning in life before.

Gabi has lots of potential, and it was smart to have her as a character study. I mean, not only do we get the perspective of a brainwashed child of war, but through her, it was shown that it's possible to end all conflicts through forgiveness. She is also a replacement for sasha (sharpshooter). Levi is no shooter, but I hope he takes Gabi, and/or the other war kiddies, under his wing. I hope Levi could find another purpose, and I'm imagining being a trainer/teacher best suites him. He cares a lot and gives good guidance with his experience and wisened words…

Honestly, I was always kinda neutral towards Zeke. Never really loved him, never really hated him. Hated what he did to the Scouts and subsequently to Erwin, but that hate really didn't last long. He was just kinda...there for me. He was an interesting character, and brought a lot to the series, but I guess it wasn't until the chapter with him and Eren as they went through his and their father's memories (the BIG chapter) that I started to warm up (?) to him. I don't know, it's hard to explain how I really felt about him overall. I will admit though, that his death, although very sudden with Levi coming out of nowhere lol, was impactful and I think a really poetic end for him. Him finally realizing the true meaning of living, seeing the beauty of their cruel world at the very end, and helping to bring an end to the Rumbling, left a very good impression on me. So, in the end...I liked Zeke. He was a good character.

Zeke and Armin's talk is... decent, I guess. Like everything in the final arc, it suffered from bizarre pacing issues, so while the core of the talk is decent, we essentially have Armin changing Zeke's entire worldview with 1 small speech. Then SUDDENLY DEAD PEOPLE COME BACK TO LIFE LEVI BEHEADS REINER HELOS ARMIN NUKE RUMBLING IS STOPPED... why the hell did we get two fanservice battle chapters just that all this gets stuffed into one?

I want Levi alive. So he can open his dream tea shop. I want him happy

I was happy to see Ksaver's titan, Armin and Zeke's talk moved me, and I'll admit I never thought the spine creature was sentient until this chapter. I'm sad the series is ending. What do I have left to look forward to each month?

Worst chapter of the entire series. If eren was actually defeated, and being defeated wasn't his intention, this chapter ruined the series and his character.

I sympathize for baby Zeke's struggles and the trauma he had to experience but honestly he ain't special in this manga, everyone has a sad fucking backstory. He was a pathetic little sadist, always puffed up about how Clever™ he was for double-crossing people and yet never seeing the obvious betrayal coming from Eren. I know the justification for that is "aw he cared for his baby brother uwu" but that was what made him so pathetic - for all his posturing about being smart and pragmatic for the Greater Good (which was his justification for the euthanasia plan) he was just as emotional and fallible as all the people he looked down on. His lack of self-awareness and depth of selfishness disgusts me. This ending was too good for him. He died as a martyr and he deserved much, much less. Tbf, for baby Zeke's sake, I am glad he got to see some happy memories of Xaver towards the end, but I thought his death was tasteless and a slap in the face of all the people he murdered before. (*ahem* Mike)

Zeke is honestly such a masterclass in character writing and it is so impressive that Isayama has written so many amazing characters. I started out really hating Zeke for what he did to Miche, and that impression carried for a long, long time, even until it was revealed that he had his own agenda, that he might be playing the long game helping Eldians, I didn't believe it because of what he did to Miche. In fact, it was Eren's cooperation with Zeke that made me turn on Eren post-timeskip. When we got that hint of Zeke backstory, I was actually kind of miffed. Like no way, Isayama, you're not going to make me sympathize with Zeke. Not happening. Yet, after I read the chapter, my thoughts were Grisha is a shit dad. Absolute shit dad. Anyway, I was still glad Eren bested Zeke in Paths, though once the Rumbling activated, I realized that I agreed with Zeke's plan better. So he's really become an interesting character for me, and I was even really excited to see him return at the end of last chapter. I still don't like him very much, but he is incredibly compelling and interesting, and I'm definitely a bit more forgiving of his earlier actions. Miche's death still sucked though.

Zeke is one of the most well written character of all time

Zeke is so fucked up, but he's hilarious and extremely meme-able. He's a tragic, well-written character who committed monstrous acts. If he didn't die here, he should have been locked up for the rest of his life.

Zeke is such a underrated but sad character. He truly taught his plan was the best Eldians. He was brain wash from his own parents and send them into pure titans, while his half brother had a normal childhood. In the end, he sacrificed himself to defeat Eren.

Zeke is super smart and very strong man ; he was defending his own past and his own sadness ; but he lost when he tried to follow his wrong feeling of sympathy toward eren ; he was thinking that he is a victim either from their father; this makes him lost everything he lived for until this moment..

Zeke is very great and one of the most important character to the story, his development also very good, i'll miss him

Zeke jeager was of course the first of the two jeager brothers and surprisingly the first son of Grisha I think as Hajime Isayama presented him it was awesome but I still not sure about his death is he really dead or is there any twist left in the last two chapters but still 🤞🤞 let’s see what is left in the series.

Zeke just wanted the eldians to be free but the way he wanted to make them free was wrong. That’s why I didn’t like him that much. But I think right now I’m sad that he had to die.

Zeke made many decisions in order to achieve his goal of ending the painful cycle of Eldian life, and because of that I feel sorry for him. I feel sad that he felt that he needed to make those decisions, and I’m glad that he was able to finally see the beauty in life at the end.

Zeke's a very interesting character to me. I love the irony of Grisha teaching him how cruel the world is in the hopes that it would radicalize him, only for it to make him wish he was never born. The guy never got the chance to just be a regular kid, except for when he was with Tom Ksaver. Tom acted like a parent should to a child, and as such Zeke ended up following through on Tom's vision rather than Grisha's. He was supposed to save the Eldian people, but came to the conclusion that it would be better if they were wiped out. I'm glad his past was brought up again in 137 where Zeke was contrasted with Armin. Zeke was born into a role with high expectations, compared to Armin who earned his expectations through repeated successes. Armin was able to grow up as the regular kid that Zeke wishes he was. His past traumas also lead him to project his own insecurities, which we can say by his assumption that all Eldians are born to suffer, and in thinking that Eren was brainwashed by Grisha, both of which aren't necessarily true. Overall I'd say Zeke is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I'm just scratching the surface of why I like him so much.

Zeke was used by others in some way, over his entire life. The restorationists goals. Kusaver using him to ease his own guilt. Marley’s military. Eren as well. I can’t help but wonder how he could have turned out if anyone had sincerely given a fuck about his own happiness.

Hate that Historia is continuing to be ignored.

I hope this isn't a set up for talk-no-jutsu. One thing that set SnK apart from other fantasy/supernatural shonens was the least use of talk-no-jutsu (it was there way early in the manga and anime but still it was least). Overall, I guess when more information/clarification could've been given, we got more talk and a dissatisfying death, I expected more.

It ould have been longer to flesh out each scenario and make it more believable, Zeke's change would be better if a few pages more was used to add more detail to his change. The fight scene should be fine as it is. As for the death of Zeke it needs to be longer, it would have made the audience much more sattisfies, his death is a turning point and it could have played out better if Isayama paid more attention to it. But overall I enjoyed it.

It was all just so rushed and convenient- levi killing zeke like it's nbd, zeke being dead completely stopping their problem, all these random dead people coming back to life it's like - what is this? why rush things this much in the last 3 chapters?  i'm hoping isayama has something up his sleeve but the power of friendship defeating eren's still as of yet unexplained character change has left me super disappointed.

It was an alright chapter, about what I really expected, as much as I'd like to I never thought Eren would win and the chapter ended the way I thought it would. With so much negativity surrounding this chapter hopefully the next chapter and the finale will ease people's mind, some people just need to remember this is a Shonen not a Seinen of course the alliance were gonna win.

It was good. The way we got emotions and fight scenes all in one chapter is another peak fiction writing skill from Isayama. As a lot of people think tho, some things shown in the chapter were confusing and kinda out of context, but I guess we'll gonna have all the answers in the last 2 chapters. Ngl, there was some obvious plot armor there in the Alliance side but I think Isayama already gave us enough suffering to ask for more deaths (man, just the thought of how EMA might end after this is more than enough). The ending will definitely define if AOT will go down at the best manga/anime of all time.

We surprisingly DIDN'T find out about the outcome of the standoff at fort Salta; last month I was sure leaving it as a cliffhanger was a waste of time since it was obvious that they were going to cooperate and aid the Alliance, but now that the Rumbling has been stopped, Maybe the twist next chapter is that the warriors arrive to see their loved ones dead/dying at Marleyan hands?

We're just rehashing the same lessons of previous arcs and we're just supposed to have conveniently forgotten them...both the feeling of powerlessness/futility of living and the message of "true freedom is..." were already covered by Eren himself back in Uprising and then in his convo with Shadis about what Carla wanted for him. Yams are you telling me he didn't learn a thing and we gotta see other people come to the same conclusions? Ok..........

Were in the Endgame now. Eren's seeming death is used to subvert expectations and is from the POV of Armin. He said goodbye to Eren expecting for him to die from the explosion, e does not say it as fact.

What a stupid chapter for my birthday.

While answering a couple questions, this chapter also made me realize that I didn't understand shit :) Maybe once the manga has ended and all my questions are answered, I will finally succeed in understanding this masterpiece.

Okay, I’m going to put this out there now, and before you judge me, please just read the posts. You don’t have to agree. This is just an idea. But it makes a stupid amount of sense, at least to me. So here's your fair warning (and now I'm being bold): If you don’t want to potentially be spoiled, Do Not Read On.

Here’s the Theory:

Historia Reiss will give birth to a half-Ackerman child, and together with Levi, from the ashes and ruins of the world Eren destroyed, they will welcome the dawn of a new age for humanity, where Ymir’s curse and the power of the Titans is extinct.

I know. I sound like some crazy, Rivahisu nut. Granted, I am, but I’m not mad enough to make a claim like this without a shit-ton of evidence, because it’s such a damn twist it feels like it can’t be true. But just humour me.

Here’s the theory, then we’ll look at why it makes sense and how it might have been foreshadowed. Please note: I have less clue how this will tie in to Eremika endgame, so I haven’t mentioned this as much, but obviously that will be the other very important side of this coin.

10 months ago (In Japan, full term pregnancy is counted as 10 months), at the banquet celebrating completion of the new railroad, Levi and Historia, having had 3 and a bit years to bond over their shared experiences and become close, may have gotten carried away together and shared one night of being a bit more than friends. She’s well into her 18th year at this point, just to clear that up. This resulted in Historia getting pregnant. Okay just stay with me; I know. I know. I sound crazy. But hear me out. So this pregnancy, contrary to the belief of the MPs and rest of the damn world, was the complete opposite of planned. Historia tells Levi, and Levi immediately panics. Because, to steal Kenny’s famous line, Levi thinks to himself ‘I can’t be some kid’s dad.’

 Levi does what he always does best, and shuts down into business mode, telling Historia she will need to cover it up somehow. Historia does as he asks, probably reluctantly, because she really has developed very deep feelings for him during the timeskip, and finds some farm hand to take the blame, likely saying she made a silly mistake with some random and the father doesn’t want anything to do with the child, and so she needs a father for the child not to be illegitimate. Which is her worst nightmare, because of course, that’s what she was. Levi watches the exchange hidden in that famous hood, feeling very conflicted, because although he cares about her, he thinks it best if no one knows that it was him that got the Queen pregnant, and of course, he’s duty bound, with a vow to fulfil, so he has no time to be worrying about a family. (Silly Levi!) 

How ironic this conversation would be if this theory were true. Remember, Historia was completely willing to eat Zeke if needed. Instead, she got pregnant, unplanned, nothing to do with any plot or selfish wishes, just the result of a spontaneous act of love by two people who’ve grown to care for one another a lot. ANYWAY.

Because we know Levi actually has a good heart, he feels immensely guilty for all of this; he's just a product of his upbringing and thinks he doesn’t know the first thing about families, so it's better for all involved if he not be. See where this is going? The old cursed history repeating? Making the same mistakes as our parents? Plus, Levi is bound by his duty. He is incredibly important to the military still, and he cannot just abandon this for any of his own selfish wishes. He’s supposed to be the one to vanquish the beast titan. 

Cue ten months of Historia looking hella depressed and hopeless, and Levi being even more of an asshole than usual to everyone, and not really wanting to say too much at all, as well as making some terrible workplace decisions (lol) poor boy be distracted.

Yes Levi. A month. Which means Historia is now due and you’re still stuck with beardy, without a solution and pretty soon no reason for the MPs not to turn the mother of your child into a Titan.

That’s what that face is. I thought he looked a bit weird first time I read these panels 🤔 He didn’t know about the wine. We see that later. Anyway, I keep getting distracted, stop. I’ll come back to this.

But fear not; Levi will have a choice to make. 

So this is where it gets a bit more iffy for me, because I'm not sure how it would work, so this could be a way off, BUT. I believe it will come to light that the combination of Royal and Ackerman genes will somehow cancel out a person’s ability to turn into a titan and connection through paths, thus making them truly ‘free.’

The founding titan has the ability to change Eldian physiology, according to what Zeke learned from professor Xavier. 

EDIT: Okay so here’s where I’ve had to tweak this a bit in light of there latest chapter. So we just had Zeke in PATHS. With none other than our second resident genius, and as proclaimed by Eren, the saviour of humanity: Armin. What do our boys have a conversation about? Reproduction and the importance of the small moments in life - it’s these little moments which matter, regardless of the desire or need to recreate. Interesting how both the leaf and baseball link back to what their ideas of ‘family’ became. If Historia and Levi were to be in the same scenario in PATHS, what would their items be? What truly means family to them both? 

Perhaps Armin and Zeke realise what is needed to lift the curse of the titans - maybe a blueprint for genes which can cancel out the connection to PATHS and the founder? If only they had a child with a new type of Royal-Ackerman DNA which might fit the bill ... 

Here’s Levi’s moment. He, with Historia, has created such a child - completely by accident, because of one of those ‘moments’ that both Armin and Zeke mention - moments that are simply just about enjoying what you have with no sense of how it might relate to anything bigger - a real rarity for both of them, considering their roles and constantly being asked to think about the good of humanity as a whole. What a beautiful irony, that in the moment they chose to be selfish and, to use freckled Ymir’s own words, really live for themselves, they set a chain reaction in motion that would ultimately save humanity. 

Where does this leave Eren and Mikasa? Good question. I believe Eren will die once the curse is removed, because tragically he is the character that has been forced to choose humanity over his own personal relationships. As Isayama has said before, Eren is a victim of the story. Mikasa will be the last thing he sees, hence the original dream at the start of the manga, where he wakes up crying. Something like this. But probably a lot better. Yeah.

Out of the ashes of the old world, a new one will be built, but through Historia’s kindness and love, and Levi’s guilt and understanding of what was sacrificed in the past, society will not repeat the same mistakes. The final panel could be Jean holding his child, perhaps with Mikasa, if she ever manages to get over losing Eren. That would be vague enough so that Isayama was able to show it to us already without spoiling much. Or maybe Jean’s dead and it’s not him at all. I don’t know. 😭

Right. Okay. So now you’re going, sweet story, but uh, there’s no way Levi could be the father. He’s so much older. Isayama wouldn't write a moment of romance like that. Not with him and Historia. YOU’RE JUST CRAZY.

Well this is where it get’s interesting. LET ME SHOW YOU. It’s foreshadowed literally everywhere. Right under our noses.

There is so much symbolism.

Dedicate your heart to what? has been Levi’s question recently. What are they all fighting for? What is he fighting for? How will he give meaning to his dead comrades sacrifices? Is killing Zeke really the extent of it? Is vengeance the true meaning of their sacrifices? Or is it something a lot more hopeful?

The answer is shown to us in the opening credits. And the ending credits. Several times. 

Levi says so himself - he keeps messing fulfilling the vow up - why? Why is he so worried about killing Zeke? 

Eren has the same questions to consider. Which PATH is the right one to take - revenge and violence with the rumbling, or love ... with Mikasa. We are literally shown what their choices will be in two virtually identically designed panels, which I’ll show you. Tragically, Eren’s choice is taken from him. He is a victim to the story - he must chose the path that saves humanity. Levi and Eren have been bound together through the theme of choices, and taking the ones which leave you with the least regrets, throughout this entire manga.

The upcoming anime episodes literally plot out the timeline of Levi and Historia’s changing attitude to one another, and then Historia’s pregnancy, it’s just so cleverly subtle. Isayama even tells us when/ during what event her child was probably conceived by just dropping dates in from other, seemingly unrelated plot lines.

Zeke gives pointed comments to Levi constantly - every other line of his is either a different jab at Levi about Historia’s pregnancy, a veiled question, or a reminder that he’s under the pressure of a 10 month time limit to do something about him, or Historia will have to eat him once she’s given birth. We start to see Levi unravel because of this, and make mistakes over and over.

It’s in official art. It’s in the soundtrack. Its in music videos. There’s interviews from Isayama that, when read in light of these ideas, suddenly take on a whole new meaning.

Isayama even trolls us. He’s laughing in our faces, the madman. Like, gotchu 🤣 suckers. While we’re all on Reddit and Twitter like, ‘Levi’s character has become so stagnated! He’s making such poor choices or not giving anything to the plot at all. All that’s left for him now is to give up and die! Be at peace, your story is over.’ OOF. Or, ‘Historia has just been forgotten! She’s become such a pointless character. Isayama just got bored with her and sidelined her.’

I’m going to try and write stuff up in the rough categories below, but these might change. I’ll link them when I’m done, and then pin this post. I’m a bit of a rambler so heads up - this may take a while 😅

And a third page written in Italian was added to the historical texts.

“Last of the Great Ones” is interesting, because Zaird says to Sol Regem his staff was a gift from one of the Great Ones. Sol Regem is alarmed but doesn’t immediately know who Zaird is talking about. So apparently between that conversation and when this text was written all Great Ones except for Aaravos died, and even he ‘fell’.

Also this note about Aaravos not being at full power.

As a ‘fallen’ Startouch elf Aaravos can only access a fraction of his former power.

The spell Zaird used to absorb the sunbirds to create the fireball he used against Sol Regem and the spell that Aaravos casts for Viren to absorb Zym’s power are meant to resemble each other in their swirling vortex. The symbol for Dark Magic also has a swirl in it around a diamond shaped like the one on Aaravos’ chest. This absorption vortex seems to be pretty central to Dark Magic, and it only seems it can be done with the staff Aaravos most likely crafted. 

The Show

Zaird staff is the same staff Viren uses. Aaravos recognized it. Given the historical text Aaravos is the “Great One” who gifted Zaird that staff.

Elves don’t seem to ride horses, but big cats, dogs, lizards, etc instead. Yet Aaravos choose to depict himself riding a star primal horse (He could make Viren see any creature he wanted). Considering it turns out that unicorns and Startouch elves are the only two star primal creatures humans know about, is he just being dramatic or does this have a deeper meaning?

Where is Aaravos walking in epsiode 6? And how and where did he a get a horse?

Aaravos can basically make Viren “see” him however he wants, so he chose to appear on the back of a purple horse. There was actually a line in there at one point that we had to cut for time that clarified a bit more heavily -- Viren grumbles at him, ��Must you appear... that way?” as Aaravos is floating in the air, and Aaravos replies, “Ah, I can appear more naturally if you’d like,” and then he flips backwards onto the horse as you see in scene in episode 6. :P

The titan stole fire and gave it to humans, elevating them – and was punished by the gods for this. I love the actor who plays him is Erik Todd Dellums, who I worked with on Avatar [the Last Airbender] who has an amazing voice and he’s perfect to embody a character like this and we’re excited about this character. We hope the audience is intrigued and ready for more.

Going back to Aaravos for one second. We’re assuming there’s a reason why he seems to be telling this story — we see his hands at the beginning of each episode in the opening sequence. AE: Yeah, so he’s a Startouch Elf, and they are closest to the heavens of the elves. They’re kind of the most god-like, in the sense of they span much more time than more Earth-bound or Xadia-bound elves. So yeah, he has this thousand year perspective. This kind of mythic role. So he’s like this mythic character who now, suddenly, is kind of popping up in this contemporary story. JR: And obviously, he’s bad enough that they tried to literally erase him from the books. AE: He’s complicated. JR: He’s interesting enough that they tried to erase him from the books. AE: He’s disliked. That’s not the same as bad.

“The name of a very important person to Aaravos will be in the map of a novel, but it will be a long time before you know what that means,” Ehasz said. “A lot of his motivation comes from that relationship.”

The team also teased The Orphan Queen, a new story they hope to tell in the series, books or even in a feature film, which follows a young human girl who starts from nothing and grows up without parents. She takes a dangerous journey to Xadia and ends up saving the world. She’s also Ezran’s first royal ancestor. Ehasz and Richmond said the idea was born when they were imagining where the Key of Aaravos comes from.

Ehasz and Richmond also dug into the timeline of Xadia, and how certain eras will impact both the books and the series. Five thousand years ago, Xadia was in its “mythical, Biblical first days,” a time long before elves and dragons were allied in which humans suffered and struggled. The “rise of Elarion” came around 2,000 years before the events of the series, and saw humans find their way to magic. Around 1200 years ago finds the arch dragon of sun, Sol Regem, as king of the dragons during this era, when dark magic became problematic and humans poached magical creatures for their parts. Shortly after came the division of Xadia. The next big turning point for the world was 300 years before the series, a time Ehasz and Richmond dub “the era of Avizandum.” Two stories they want to tell take place during this era: The Fallen Star and The Orphan Queen. We don’t know anything about The Fallen Star yet ... but we will. The team noted that history will one day know the modern era as “The Return of Aaravos.”

One Piece Chapter 995: Initial Thoughts

And the count drops to 5 After a long week break One Piece is back to continue the back and forth of the Onigashima Raid, looks like Chapter 1000 may still remain in Act 3 which is...concerning, since Act 4 is meant to be the tragedy parts But for now, we see what 995 has to offer Spoilers for Chapter 995 of course, Support the Official Release Too!

It was a bit strange seeing a chapter cover after the whole Bege story ended XD But Luffy with an owl teacher is fun, and the squirrels

We however start on the outskirts, Big Mom vs Marco, and he’s kinda holding his own. It is worth noting that his fire seems to hurt Prometheus and Zeus looks out of commission still

Marco stating that he ‘doesn’t know his role yet’ is a bit of a worrisome flag, bug I do have an idea

BM does pin Marco down the easy way though, just grab him. Seems that Perospero’s alliance was super short lived - alliances and betrayal going hand in hand

But he gloated too much and Wanda and Carrot jump in in their Su Long forms! Peros is lucky he isn’t blinded, I mean he kinda should be, he has enough scars

‘You crazy furry’ - I don’t care if Viz changes that this is the canon line and hilarious!

BM seems to recognize Carrot though, which continues to bode the question: why didn’t she get a bounty for rinsing a line of a Yonko’s fleet? Franky did less in Enies Lobby and got a bounty

Wanda’s Su Long is kinda expected, but it’s good to see that she wants to avenge Pedro too, despite Peros’ objections. Gotta worry a little though, very easy to lose one of them in a 2v1 situation

Big Mom bouncing is strange though, she’s basically ditching her eldest injured son. What she says is interesting too, she doesn’t have any souls to use against Marco, meaning at this current point she’s somewhat weakened in terms of damage output

Carrot and Wanda are letting Marco make chase though, however the Ice Demons is where I expect him to gravitate towards

The Apoo chase is for the most part turning everyone against him, but in that manner also turning Kaido’s lesser forces against him

Tonfa is a unique choice of weapon for Apoo, maybe the extra joints allow more movement with them, but he should not last long against Drake and Zoro both going at him

Zoro vocally noting that he wants to support Kin’emon is telling, Oda is intentionally keeping Zoro away from Kaido

Drake though having no filter ‘I’ve always hated you’ - like cold blooded

Queen though seems to have eyes on Zoro, but he’s gonna be very rudely awakened if he tries it thinking that he’s merely the ‘3rd best fighter’. His musing about Sanji is interesting though, he doesn’t say Germa or the Evil Army, he says ‘Judge’s Son’ - implied familiarity? Oh lord what if Sanji’s uncle is Queen!? Both are blonde scientific geniuses

Brook being immune to Ice Oni does make a lot of sense, it may also become a key factor in getting to Apoo or Queen but he’s basically now a walking infection that he may be able to use, but Chopper is mulling how the virus works

And doesn’t notice that he’s got it too! Strange he didn’t feel it though huh? There is of course now the worry of ‘Healer Down’ but Chopper can change his shape to limit the spread, this also gives him a chance to self-treat an antidote or just allow a Pineapple to heal him with his healing flames

I do have worry about that Number-shaped shadow on the panel where Brook is saying he’s invincible, it’s got its eyes on Chopper

We finally get over to Usopp and Nami vs Ulti and Pay-Pay...though it’s turned out to just be Usopp vs Ulti and Pay-Pay.

Interestingly, Usopp seems able to handle Ulti from range, but with both it is a struggle. Ulti’s heart though

Unfortunately he seems to be on the end of ‘another’ headbutt. An Alabasta-esque Fatality showing Usopp’s skull very much cracked...surprised he has any bones left in his nose

Ulti turns her eyes to a felled Nami, but we’re shown Beast Pirates fleeing from outside, which should’ve really given away that an ally was coming

Nami definitely doesn’t want to die so pulls the bargaining, but Ulti wants her to retract Luffy’s statement about being Pirate King

PANDAMAN SMILE! Just...wow

I’m a little let down by Usopp though, even if it’s lying to stay alive to be okay with Nami saying that Luffy won’t be Pirate King doesn’t sit well, it feels like it contrasts his Alabasta moment as well when he refused to allow Luffy to be insulted

But Nami won’t say it, she says that he will, so it’s nice that Nami gets that moment too

And here to save Nami is Komachiyo rode in by Tama!

So yeah, really good chapter regarding developments, the picture does continue to become clearer. Big Mom is back on the loose, but without Zeus and Prometheus she is weakened. Marco is becoming aware of the Ice Oni - which Brook and Chopper are infected with but only the latter subject to its damage. Queen looks to eliminate Zoro. Carrot and Wanda are to fight Perospero and Tama has come for support right where Usopp and Nami are facing Ulti and Pay-Pay.

It all leads to interesting routes, of course Zoro vs Queen is a big one but I do see Drake jumping in on that, maybe even Hawkins, Apoo, Brook and/or Who’s Who, he isn’t the most popular of All Stars after all. I do still think Marco will save Chopper and the floor from Ice Oni, Chopper will be able to uncover the key part of it before fully turning, but through that Chopper can get that W over the Plague. I worry about Carrot and Wanda vs Perospero, I think Peros may get some help, he has a whole crew at the bottom of the Waterfall loaded as Chekov’s gun, but with the rest of the Minks falling back from the Dome as well it could be Minks vs Big Mom pirates. I worry most for Wanda because she is another one of Carrot’s close mink friends, she could easily lose a lot from this especially from the clock of Su Long. Seeking vengeance rarely goes the way people expect, I kinda hope that Carrot gets clarity and returns to support Luffy and co, mainly because I am Carrot4Nakama - I doubt she’s got her fill from adventure and she could easily get a bounty post-Wano (I even think her nickname of ‘Moon Rabbit’ would be suitable). While I thought that the title would relate to Shinobu, I did correctly predict Tama rolling up in my Mini-Theory Mashup Wano Edition (Link Here), she is far too much of a pivotal character to be kept away from this, she is a key factor as well. Not only will her arrival kick Usopp and Nami’s protective senses into gear to potentially get the W against Ulti and Pay-Pay (who while I enjoy their dynamic it’s a rough spot when they’re fighting people I like) but she also has influence factors with Luffy and Big Mom. She can be the later kick up the ass for Luffy to remember what he is fighting for but for Big Mom she can be the changing factor, Tama is who drove O-Lin to Udon, whether Big Mom has memories of Tama could in turn prove beneficial for the alliance in having BM turn on Kaido, if she runs in on Nami and Usopp too this could lead to Nami gaining an advantage by reclaiming Zeus.

But yeah, a lot of this was what others are doing aside from the Luffy, Yamato and Scabbards situation, we still are due to see Caribou, Team Law, Team Kid and Hiyori and who that shadowed person is (still think it’s Moria) but we still have 5 more chapters to go fill the big 1000

'The Whites Have Become Black' - David Starkey is a racist

Quite why David Starkey was on the Newsnight panel in the first place remains something of a mystery.  His specialism is the Tudor period, and whilst it might have been enlightening to hear him on the topic with regard to recent events, that’s not what we got.  Neither is he an authority on the history of London, ‘black British history’ or anything other possible research area that springs to mind as being faintly relevant.  One can only presume, sadly, that he was there for his ratings and his ability to ‘generate debate’.  In that at least he turned out to be an ideal booking.

Emily Maitlis asked David Starkey for his opinion on the causes of the riots-he responded by pointing out that as a historian, in one sense he couldn’t say what had caused events, as it was too soon to say.  I was actually quite taken with that response, and thought it spot on.  Then the other shoe dropped:

‘The whites have become black’

This statement assumes 2 things:  firstly that there are such things as ‘white’ and ‘black’ culture.  Secondly, that it was the assumption of ‘black culture’ by white people that has led to the lawlessness and abandonment of fellow feeling, expressed through the riots.

I used to visit my mother in South Africa during the eighties, and lived there for several years in the nineties.  I observed as a teenager & as an adult, the way in which people, sensing that flat-out racism was no longer a la mode, shall we say, would recast their views thus:

‘I’m not a racist.  I’m a racialist. I don’t think people are better than each other, they’re just different.  So why would someone from Khayelitsha want to live next door to me/go to my son’s school?’

I would put Starkey into this camp: A racist, but one who hides his racism under a veneer of ‘culture’. As he said ‘It’s not skin colour, it’s culture’.  He then associates black culture with the rioting on the streets- ‘It certainly glorifies it’.

Later on in the panel discussion, he quoted a text message sent by a girl caught up in the riots, delivered in a faux Jamaican patois.

Young people have always had their own slang/groupspeech.  Judging from my son and his friends, at the moment these consist of faux-Californian, faux-Italian (via Assassin’s Creed), text speak, faux-Essex and yes, faux-Jamaican.  But to suggest that one text message sent by one teenager proves anything, is well, ridiculous.

Which brings me onto the question of technology:  There has been has been much breathless commentary of the role of the Blackberry Messenger system in the riots, and in particular their spread over different districts of London.  Repeat after me-technology is never a cause of events.  It can enable people to act on their impulses, but can never cause them in the first place.  To suggest as some have, that BBM was a contributory cause, is like saying the trains delivering troops to the Belgian front caused the First World War.  After all, if technology was going to prevent crime, you’d have thought CCTV would have been of utility-and that has only enabled the police to do their job after the event.

Starkey, unprompted, brought up Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of blood’ speech.  Now, that speech isn’t just a speech, any more than Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech is just a speech.  It’s a signifier- or, in crude terms, a dog-whistle.  It says ‘I am about to talk about the impact of immigration in terms of race, even if I subsequently deny it.’ Which he duly did.

Later in the discussion, Starkey made reference to David Lammy, saying he ‘sounds white’.  What does actually mean?  Received pronunciation? Scouse?  Brummy?  Scots?  To follow  Starkey’s logic, you’d think he was saying that all whites sound alike, and therefore by extension, so do all blacks.  If that’s not racist I don’t know what is-but I suspect that if interrogated on that point, DS would attempt to move the discussion onto ‘culture’ as per the block quote above.

But Starkey in saying this of Lammy, revealed his true game:  not only to attribute much of the ills of society to the influence of ‘black’ culture on poor whites-but to simultaneously appropriate black Britons in positions of power to the white elite.  Lammy is acceptable, because he is like ‘us’.  

It’s at this point, that I need to answer the question: If not race, what did cause the riots?

Prima facie the criminality and wanton lack of self-restraint of individuals caused what had been a peaceful demonstration related to the shooting of Mark Duggan to mutate with frightening speed into what we saw.  But how did they get to that point?  

‘Shopping with violence’.  It sounds like something out ‘A Clockwork Orange’-but it remains one of the most penetrating observations of what happened I have heard.  For the last 30-odd years, and with increasing speed over the last 15, we as a society have been sold the idea, that we are what we possess.  To be is to consume, the more publicly the better.  Which would be fine (-ish), if everyone had the same access to the means of consumption.  They don’t-although there have been examples of ‘respectable’ (and isn’t that a loaded term in this context?) people caught up in the riots and looting, for the most part were young.  Young and poor.

Added to which is our society’s attitude to children and young people.  We don’t like them.  We say that they are their parents’ responsibility, whilst at the same time allowing capitalism, that provider of shiny things for all, to demand that its needs be attended to before we are allowed to meet those of our children.   We allow the press to routinely slag off single mothers, and by extension their children, as the root of many social ills.  But then we (or rather this government) say that to provide those parents with extra support to fulfil their social contract and their need to work, is to encourage fecklessness and family breakdown.  Idealised children, missing or even dead, gazing from the front pages of the tabloids, we like very much.  But actual children, especially needy, difficult, angry children we do not like at all.

Much has been written about ‘stop and search’ as it related to inter-racial tensions.  But young people, arguably, are the most discriminated-against group of all.  They can be moved on just for there being three of them gathered together.  We have transformed childhood from a time of discovery, to a time of Gradgrindian exams, which are then denigrated as being of less and less worth.  Mind you, given the surge in youth unemployment and the exploding cost of higher education, that won’t matter.  Even if young people jump over the hurdles we call essential, many will fall before crossing the finishing line. And they know it. 

David Starkey touched on none of this.  Instead he spoke about how ‘whites are becoming black’.  How a black MP ‘sounds white’. How black culture ‘glorifies’ street violence.  David Starkey is wrong.  David Starkey is a racist.

What If? Daredevil Vs. Elektra

    I have been meaning to write a full post about this chilling alternate universe, and Halloween seemed like the perfect time to do so. With the success and popularity of Spider-Gwen’s Hand ninja Matt Murdock, it can be easy to forget that he is not the only one. The first story of a Matt whose life took a darker and more ninja-y path was told in the one-shot What If? Daredevil Vs. Elektra, which is a chilling tale of murder, regret, and painful memories that won’t stay buried. 

    The story is told from the point of view of Elektra Natchios, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who, in the midst of a successful career in espionage, is forced to face again a traumatic event from her past-- a hostage situation in college, in which her boyfriend tried to rescue her and was killed. 

[ID: A flashback to Columbia University, Elektra’s origin story. Cops outside a building shoot into an upper window.]

Cops: “They’re killing the hostages! Wait... what’s that? I can see something... Yeah, a clear shot, and I’m taking it...”

Elektra: “Matt!”

[ID: Young Matt Murdock gets shot multiple times. Young Elektra kneels on the floor, holding his body in her arms.]

    It’s a memory she has learned to live with, a little piece of trauma she has long since buried, but then, suddenly, people around her start dying. She and her fellow agents begin to investigate scenes of carnage, carried out with terrifying stealth and skill by an unknown enemy. 

[ID: The Kingpin’s office, chaos. The Kingpin sits at his desk while a ninja in red clothes and a devil mask fights Bullseye. The ninja slices Bullseye’s head off with his sword and then advances on the Kingpin.]

Elektra (off-panel): “His bodyguards slaughtered upfront, Fisk’s personal assassin... Poindexter... Bullseye... whatever they called him... was the Kingpin’s only prayer.”

    Elektra, horrified but still clueless about how this connects to her buried memory at this point, investigates further. Her character development is an interesting variation in this universe, which presents a fairly clear-cut role switch between she and Matt. Her experience in college was painful, and her career as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has given her a fairly jaded view of life and people, but she has retained some of the optimism and naivete that was snuffed out in the 616 universe by her father’s death. Elektra wants to see justice done, even if the only people so far killed have been dangerous criminals. She asks around, and eventually finds a surprisingly informed old blind man in a bar. 

[ID: A bar. Stick is playing pool and talking to Elektra, who is dressed in a black coat and red head scarf.]

Stick: “Ever heard of the Hand?”

Elektra: “As in ‘talk to’?”

Stick: “You’re a barrel, too, y’know that? The Hand. Corrupted ninja order. Heirs to the Beast. Intent on infiltrating the empires of man. In other words-- one bad outfit. Their current leader, ‘the Advocate’, is a servant turned master. He uses a unique approach to taking out his foes. He finds a discontented underling, exploits their dissatisfaction, nurtures it into betrayal... then attacks from within.”

Elektra: “Very Hong Kong triple-feature, old man. How does it connect to Fisk’s murder?”

Stick: “The Kingpin’s lawyer. Talk to him. And while you’re at it, talk to your boss... he just might help you find another blind guy whose kung fu is better than yours...”

    It doesn’t take Elektra long to find the Kingpin’s lawyer, Foggy Nelson. She discovers him sitting alone in his apartment, a bitter shell of the Foggy we know in the 616 universe. Losing Matt hit him hard, and-- as is true in several other alternate universes as well-- sent his life into a tailspin. 

[ID: Flashbacks from Foggy’s life: in the library with Matt in college, Foggy sitting at a desk in the Kingpin’s office, a body (Ben Urich) with a bag over its head, Foggy defending the Kingpin in court.]

Foggy (off-panel): “The two of us had high hopes... aspirations. We were gonna open our own practice once we passed the bar... and change the world, or what little of it we could. Funny how life goes. After law school I could barely pay back my student loan. I was desperate for money. Fisk made me an offer I would have been an idiot to refuse. A six-figure retainer. When he was on trial a few years back for placing a hit on Bugle reporter Ben Urich... having an honest, decent man shot dead... body dumped like trash... I fought for his freedom like my life depended on it. Probably did. In the end, it was the judge who’d been bought, but I was party to it. My life had become a sick joke.”

    He is bitter with regret and disgusted by the person he has become. He admits to Elektra that he was the weak link in the Kingpin’s organization-- the person indirectly responsible for his murder. He also gives her the name of the man who did the deed-- the Advocate-- along with some terrifying news: that  his next target is S.H.I.E.L.D. Sure enough, ninjas attack one of the helicarriers shortly afterward, killing Nick Fury and many of Elektra’s other friends and co-workers. Elektra realizes what she is up against. She realizes who she is up against. The Hand have brought Matt back from the dead and turned him into a killer, and she has to do something about it. 

    Elektra returns to Stick. She trains with him, attempting to prepare herself to face the Hand. When Stick suddenly vanishes, Elektra takes things into her own hands. She takes the name Sai and forms the new Chaste (one of my favorite alternate universe teams). They prepare to attack the Hand at their home base, and finish things once and for all. 

[ID: Elektra, now dressed in her 616-verse red outfit, addresses a group of other heroes: this universe’s versions of Wolverine, Black Widow, Power Man, Iron Fist, Echo, and Silver Samurai.]

Elektra: “Our differences may be many, but we share common ground. Each of us has lost someone... something... to the Hand. We are now the Chaste. The only ones who can stand against them. This is how we go in...”

Caption: “Old names forsaken, each member of this new order of seven took on another one to signify rebirth-- Claw. Sting. Stone. Flame. Seer. Sword. Sai. Woe to the Devil and evil men.”

    This comic is relentless in its carnage, which feels exactly right for the flavor of the story it is telling. When the new Chaste storm the Hand’s headquarters, Elektra discovers that Stick is dead. Matt has killed his first teacher, and Elektra knows she is out of options. She has to stop Matt herself. 

[ID: In the Hand’s fortress. Elektra has discovered Stick’s severed head.]

Elektra: “Stick... teacher, I’m sorry... you were right. Time to grow up.”

    She seeks him out. Of course, he is expecting her. 

[ID: The Hand’s fortress. Elektra approaches Matt from behind. He is dressed in a red ninja outfit but without a mask. His eyes are an unnatural red. Elektra has her sai; Matt is holding a gun.]

Elektra: “I’m here to stop you.”

Matt: “From doing what? Bringing order to chaos? Imagine these widowmakers without my guidance. You’re still holding onto the ideals of youth. Your father raised you in a sheltered, protected bubble allowing you limited contact with the rest of the world. Clouded your thoughts with fairy tale notions of ‘good’ and ‘evil’. Isn’t that why you hate him? You know this world is a savage garden. Beauty in duality. Good and evil intertwine like copulating serpents. Indistinguishable. It’s not worth saving because there’s nothing to save.”

    Here, we see the other half of the role switch. Reanimated Matt is brainwashed, and that is part of it, but his words have the feeling of a deeply ingrained truth. His existence has been nothing but pain. An attempt at heroism cost him his life, and since he has been back, all he has seen is the worst of people. His words echo 616-verse Elektra’s mindset in the wake of her father’s murder-- that the world is a cold and uncaring place and all one can do is attempt to survive in it as best one can. And like 616 Matt in the equivalent situation, Elektra is horrified to see what has become of the hopeful, caring person she knew in college. 

    They fight, and Elektra realizes the inevitable-- there is no saving Matt. And she is Elektra, no matter the universe, and so finds the strength to do the deed. 

[ID: Elektra shoots a bullet past Matt’s head. He drops to his knees, his hands pressed to his ears in pain.]

Caption: “The gun is S.H.I.E.L.D. ordinance... with a built-in sonic disruptor. It sends the Advocate’s senses into overdrive.”

[ID: Elektra draws her sai and stabs him through the chest.]

[ID: Matt lies, dying, on the ground. His eyes now look normal. Elektra kneels beside him.]

Matt: “Elektra...?”

Elektra: “Matt...?”

Matt: “Terrorists... taken care of... you and... your father... safe?”

Elektra: “Yes, darling... we’re safe... we’re safe.”

    It’s a beautiful little one-shot, bloody and tragic and poetic as the best Elektra and Matt comics are. I’m sure I’ll discuss it again, but for now, I wanted to give it the attention it deserves as an important alternate universe story and a compelling re-exploration of Matt and Elektra’s relationship.

I stood at my locker sorting out my books for class "Hey Y/n Manatee" A voice smirked I turned around and saw Thomas trying to peek under my skirt "Ughh! Get off you dirty Bastard!" I complained "I was just having a look Y/n" He smirked giving my butt a slap "Get off Thomas!" "fine, You spoil all my fun fat ass" he smirked before he walked off to his class so I sighed finishing up my stuff and heading to my class "Excuse me miss Lewis?" The teacher asks holding her ruler "Yes miss?" "In roll that skirt this instant! You know your not allowed your skirt above the knee" "Ohh... I'm sorry miss but it's not rolled" "Then pull it down!" "I can't miss I won't go anymore down..." I began "Don't argue with me! To the deputy heads office now!" She ordered so I went almost crying going and sitting on the little chair outside for a while "What are you doing here?" He asked as he walked past with a cup of coffee and a donut "Miss Ola sent me because of my skirt" I answered so he let me inside his office shutting the door behind me as I stood with my books "Alright, skirt violation... It is above the knee miss Lewis" he warns "I know sir but you see... Because of it zipping at the waist it won't go down anymore, if I push it down it won't zip up" I explain "Ohh that's ridiculous!" He laughs coming and tugging on my skirt noticing it wouldn't budge due to my hips "humm... It would seem your skirt is too small that will solve the zip and length issue,go and buy a bigger one from the school shop' "But sir... As the school requires uniform to be bought from the school, this is the largest sold" "Right" he sighed "I've had quite enough of your talking back you lady!" "But sir-" "Enough!" I took my books as the bell rang running off to the little computer room that was my form room, I never liked eating in the canteen and it's not like I had freinds to sit with on the yard so I would always go and read in my form room as the library didn't allow food, so I opened the door seeing the room dark and empty so I clicked on the lights "Fuck off!" A voice shouted from within "Thomas?" I asked as I did recognise the voice "Turn the fucking lights off manatee!" He yelled so I turned all but one off as he sat on the floor at the back of the room tears staining his face "Are you okay?" "What the bloody hell do you care manatee?" "I don't know why I should" I sighed "but I do so ... What's wrong?" "Lindsey broke up with me okay! Happy now!" "Are you alright?" "Yeah I'm fine" he sighed "Do you want some gum?' I offered he turned and gently smiled at me taking a couple prices as I sat close to him but still keeping my distance "you must have really liked her?" I smiled as I had some gum too "Not really" "Then why where you dating her?" "I don't know," he shrugs "the guys say shes hot? Her dad's rich? I don't know just kinda assumed I had to" "Why did you have to?" "Because she's like the second hottest girl in our year so... Kinda have to date her?" "Didn't you like anything about her?" "I don't know, uhh I liked making out with her?" He shrugs "Isn't it kinda a given that you enjoy making out with most people you make out with?" I asked "I guess so" he laughs "Mind me asking why she broke up with you?" I signed up for this year's fall production but to be on the stage team of course, wearing all black, knowone knows you exist all I wanted out of life. Unfortunately a certain blonde someone also ended up on the stage hand team but lately... Thomas hadn't been causing me much trouble, yeah I caught him sneaking peaks up my skirt ever so often and he still called me names but I had bigger things to worry about. I stood on the stage doing all the mic rigs I job I did enjoy its like playing a video game because you couldn't put them too close or they squeal but too far you don't pick anything up from performers even if they where all rehearsing across the school while we where setting up and running music and lighting ques it felt like it took hours even if I was enjoying it plus being in black under heavy stage lights was making me quiet hot somehow I ended up the only one on the stage for a while as everyone else had gone to there bags for drinks and such I spotted Thomas stood in his black tee and his black school trousers his white shirt sleaves rolled up to cuff around his black theatre shirt having a drink from his blue bottle "Hey uhh Y/n right?" One of the six form boys on the control panel at the back asked "Yeah?" I asked into a mic as they wouldn't hear me I'd I didn't "Can you just uhh stand in the middle for me, and sing something real quick we just need to check for the chorus girls!" He yelled to me I did as I was told a little nervous being under these lights, everyone could see me, everyone would hear me and judge me and look at my body "just anything okay! It doesn't matter it's just for sound" I didn't know what to do or how to feel about it as I felt a million eyes all over me... "I dreamed a dream in time gone by, when hope was high and life worth living, I seemed that love would never die, I dream that would god would be forgiving" I sang I couldn't see anything but the harsh light from the stage lights nothing but light and flickers of people in wings "that okay?" "Uhhh yeah, yeah that's fine" he nodded so I ran to my bag burring my head in it as I got a drink, I could feel all there eyes but tried to ignore them "right that's a wrap for tonight guys, see you all tomorrow!" So I grabbed a bag and coat almost running out avoiding the clicks of freinds as I headed out and down the street towards home, I felt eyes behind me so I glanced and saw Thomas with his bag following at a distance behind me so I kept walking but unable to ignore his eyes as he looked at me "What?" I asked "What?" He laughs "Stop following me!" "I'm going home, I can't help we live the same way manattee" he laughs So I kept walking "stop looking at me!" I stood organizing the closet for the drama department it was full of costumes and props from classes, exams, performances and shows. I offered to tidy it on my lunch break as I had little else to do this lunch and it got me away from everyone else. I heard the door open assuming it was a teacher but... They didn't call, I froze thinking who could be there as I stood putting a 20's showgirl dress on a hanger from bugsy Malone last year "Hey manattee" a voice smirked as I felt a hand on my waist, I instantly pushed it away turning to see... Not Thomas but Daniel, the dark haired football boy that had been long freinds with Thomas but they had drifted apart as Daniel focused on football, that and the matter of Lindsey "how are ya doing?" What are your thoughts on 19 days anime in the future? And want moment would you like to see animated? I personally can't understand why 19 days anime doesn't exist..I would like to see it..

Good afternoon, dear anon-san!

It seems every once in a while the possibility of getting an anime adaptation of 19 Days pops up in the fandom. Usually, the rumor ripples get started by fan-made animation clips that some people mistake for official releases. Although, I suppose the topic has risen up once again by Mosspaca’s involvement in Legend of Hei and its film adaptation that was released in China in September. 

“What are your thoughts on 19 days anime in the future?”

Personally, I don’t need 19 Days to get an anime, and every time the rumors of getting an adaptation have reached my ears I’ve been somewhat relieved when they turn out to be misunderstandings. Not every comic can - or even should - be animated, and I don’t understand or agree with the need to turn everything into moving pictures. Some things are better left alone and enjoyed in their original form.

However, if the anime adaptation was to happen, “in the future” is the key I would emphasize for two main reasons: the pacing of the story and development of the relationships.

I’ve read a lot of yaoi/shounen-ai comics and have never come across pacing and structure similar to 19 Days. We have 300+ chapters by now but not much has really happened. Each chapter only has a handful of panels, and they vary from covering some passing little moment that doesn’t contribute to the overall plot to stretching 10-or-so chapters loosely over one school day. And judging by the snail’s pace that the comic has inched forward, I doubt that’s going to change anytime soon. If the story that has taken years to get to where we are now was turned into an anime it would either have really short episodes or they would have to come up with more story content. So, if the anime ever happens, it’s far into the future.

Besides the slow pace, the budding relationships are very slow burn as well. By now, avid readers are used to it and get excited over the gradual, nuanced developments and analyzing the tiniest of details, but I don’t see that being successfully adapted into an anime. It wouldn’t be satisfying in the same way as discovering those things in the comic is. Also, the target audience would mostly consist of yaoi folks (that I’m also a part of), and even if it’s a shounen-ai we would be expecting to see more explicit relationships than what 19 Days in its current form has to offer. By “explicit” I don’t mean we are just thirsty for graphic yaoi content and don’t care about the story, but a lot of the relationship development in 19 Days is hiding between the lines or feel significant to the current readers because it’s taken the short weekly releases years to reach that point. I don’t see that being satisfactory in an anime form. Then there are also the Chinese censorship laws that are already a bad match with 19 Days but would even further restrict the content of the anime. Of course, 19 Days is still very much ongoing, but again, it only means a successful anime adaptation is way into the future.

All that being said, though, I’m not 100% against the idea of an adaptation. For example, I’d be interested if OX came up with an anime-only story. A short prequel film about the past featuring the He brothers? Something about Qiu and He Cheng’s past? Also, I’m not saying 19 Days doesn’t have themes worth exploring in anime form. For example, the gradually deepening childhood friendship of Zhan Zheng Xi and Jian Yi and JY discovering he is feeling something else for his best friend would certainly make a beautiful story. Either way, I think a film would work better than a series.

Would I watch an anime adaptation of 19 Days? Of course, I would. All the doubts and fears I have towards 19 Days - the animation are no doubt solvable for professionals, and I would be looking forward to being proved wrong. But I still don’t think it’s the direction in which 19 Days should be heading.

I don’t think I have any specific moments, but if 19 Days was ever turned into an anime I feel like Zhanyi would make the best focus of the story. First of all, it has many beautiful themes: friendship, coming of age, discovering yourself in a romantic and sexual sense, coming to terms with it, and dealing with discrimination of your environment. They remind me of Doukyuusei and Given which are my most favorite shounen-ais.

Secondly, I think Zhanyi already breaks many of the typical yaoi/shounen-ai cliches. You don’t have to look further than the debate about which one of them is the seme. Now, before you think I’m against the seme-uke division, let me perhaps disappoint some of you by saying I’m not. They’re an essential and historical feature of the genre and have their place, and I do have my own preferences regarding semes and ukes. I’ve never been a fan of the thinking that if I don’t like something in some genre or media, it should be gotten rid of by starting to dictate and police people’s tastes. Yaoi and shounen-ai genres are written for a certain target audience whose interests they’re meant to fulfill. And frankly said, I think it’s rude and stupid to go to those communities as an outsider and expect them to change according to my taste. All of that doesn’t, of course, mean you can’t go against the stereotypes and tropes of the genre. I’m an avid yaoi/shounen-ai reader and highly enjoy refreshing stories that, for example, go against the typical seme-uke roles [masculine ukes for the win!]. And seke stories that actually feature a switch of the roles in the bedroom always perk my interest. I feel like Zhanyi would be good at muddling the waters in that regard without even having to be more graphic than holding hands or kissing.

It seems I ended up somewhat disagreeing with you but I hope I managed to do so without being too harsh. Nevertheless, thank you very much for your question, dear anon-san!

I know this might be weird but can you pinpoint what Eren actual plan is actually is? I still don't believe his declaration and i'm sure there is more that meets the eye. Can you give any other probability of what his real plan is judging from his character before his POV was shut off. Can you also include how the role of Kruger memory and advise to Grisha helped shaped the current Eren since I see a lot of similarities between the two in this final arc

The same dude btw. Do you have any theory on why Eren set up PATHS discord to declare his goal. Don't get me wrong but so far Eren intention has been presented as noble even though his method and goal isn't. The intention we have gotten from other character POV btw is to protect his friends and Paradise. What then do Eren benefit from monologuing like a stereotypical villain before unleashing his plan? He isn't the type to instill fear into people before killing them. That's OOC for him            

The wall titans will take days or even weeks before they realistically reach the shores of Marley. Maybe it cause of bias but if I want to commit a genocide with something as slow as the wall titan, I will cut off flow of information so that they will meet their doom by surprise. Also thanks to him announcing his goal, he has helped clear indecisiveness for any Paradisians that's opposed to that outcome. Did he really expect Armin to sit still and allow him after what he pulled in 112?

Lastly, in Eren memory shard. We saw a shard of the fez boy whom he was looking at the last night. The general consensus among the fandom is that Eren decided for the genocide after what transpired in the meeting but if Eren really went out of his way to meet that boy after he ditched the SC, that kind of puts a dent in his genocide plan cause that shard looks to pure with the hand placed on shoulder and the whole body language. Sorry for rambling too much. I know it kind of makes other         

characters development pointless if Eren isn't genuine. But it's just like saying Mikasa character development when Eren died is pointless cause Eren came back alive. I don't know if I make sense

One question, I want to ask about Kruger word on the wall " you have to complete your mission if you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone". Are we supposed to ignore that line or is it retconned or what? Many of the analysis I see base off of post timeskip Eren with no POV and ignoring established themes. I just see a lot of theory about big bad Eren and I can't help but wonder considering the scene was emphasized by both Grisha and Kruger. I feel like something is missing

These asks can be answered together. I am also sorry for the wait since it has been a while since  I have received them.

I have talked about Eren here and in particular I have said this:

Finally, when it comes to Eren’s future development, I currently see two possibilities.

a)  Either we are given more information through Historia and his POV and this new information can modify the reading of Eren’s actions up until now.

b) He will grow and develop because of the actions of the   other characters exactly like them will grow because of his current   ones.

I think that point a and b which describe two possible ways in which Eren can gain future development lead to two different machro-theories I see going around.

1) Eren plans to turn himself into humaniy’s enemy, so that humanity can join hands, fight him and overcome their struggle in the meantime.

2) Eren’s wish to protect his home and loved ones coupled with his future memories led him to think that destroying the world is the only way he can ensure Paradis safet and so he is doing so even if he knows it is wrong.

I call them “machro-theories” because they can be interpreted in numerous ways and each one has a different nuance and a different spin to it. I am also sure that other explanations could be found, but, as for now, they are the two I find more plausible.

They can both make sense under certain conditions and I think they are the two ones that would have the more foreshadowing if proven true.

Now, let’s address some points you make against theory 2 and in favor of theory 1.

1) The boy with the fez.  I don’t think him appearing in Eren’s memories disproves nor proves anything. Him appearing in Eren’s memories shows how much important was that night for Eren himself. It is the last night he spends with the people he loves before leaving them and starting to act coldly towards them. What is more, the child is a person who reminds Eren of his past self since he is a victim of war and a refugee like he was. Because of this, it makes sense that Eren was such impressed by the child since he represents both his past self and how people outside and inside the walls are the same.

As a matter of fact even if Eren is indeed doing what he seems to be doing it does not mean that he does not realize its gravity (different from the Jeagersists). He clearly does. That is why he cries after seeing the child. It is because he realizes he will die together with other people when he activates the Rumbling. Or at least the hapter implies this.

Alternatively, in case theory 1 is correct, Eren crying might simply be because he is somehow giving up on his past and possibly on his future since he knows he needs to sacrifice himself.

2) Eren’s speech to the world Eldians.

As the first anon said in their asks, it might be a trick Eren is using to stage himself as the only true monster in order to unite the world against him.

Alternatively, someone (whose name I don’t remember, so tell me if yuou know) noticed that the Founding Titan powers seem to work without specific restrictions. So, for example, when Eren ordered that all the hardening had to become undone, not only the walls, but also Reiner and Annie resented of the effect of Eren’s order. So, Eren might have wanted to announce his plan only on the Eldians of Paradis, but ended up bradcasting to all the world Eldians. That said, I don’t find the theory that convincing even if it is interesting simply because Eren’s words seem to be directed to all Eldians.

3) Eren as an antagonist being against the themes.

To this I disagree. As a matter of fact a way to explore a theme is to have the MC have a tragic arc which embodies the opposite of a story themes. Because of this, having Eren who wants freedom ending up representing freedom’s opposite can be an effective way to explore the theme of “freedom”. If anything Eren manipulating everyone, so that things go according to his plan is something which risks not to fit with the idea of freedom. As a matter of fact, having a single character giving “freedom” to others through manipulation seems kind of hypocritical. That said, there could be ways in which theory 1 can be proven true without this happening. So we’ll see.

4) Kruger’s words. I have talked about Kruger’s words here:

He might be doing it because he has seen  Kruger mentioning to Grisha that if he learns to use this power  correctly he can save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else. All in all, just  this hope might be enough for him to push forward in a confused hell despite the fact he has only partial information and that he might very well mess up in the process.

In short, the panel of Kruger mentioning Armin and Mikasa is clearly important and I think that that panel together with the one of Mikasa in chapter one have still to be explained and will be in the future. What is more, I think they are connected to the Attack Titan piower somehow.

When it comes to Kruger’s words it is possible that, as I say above, Eren is also animated by them in doing what he is doing. As a matter of fact being told by my future self that doing something will save the lives of people I love might be a reason good enough to do whatever I am told. I also think we might see Eren sending himself this message in future chapters.

In conclusion, both theories 1 and 2 are still possible. They have both positive and negative aspects to them.

For example, having theory 1 be true would make difficult to understand why Eren could not simply tell the others about it. Why did he have to risk the destruction of the world hoping that a bunch of people who could have died countless times would join together and stop him against all odds? This is something which seriously needs to be addressed not to make the whole situation ridiculous and it can be addressed either by adding plot-points which make Eren’s choices understandable or by clearly showing that Eren was wrong not to tell others.

At the same time, for theory 2 to be true there is the need to find a convincing reason why both Historia and Eren’s POV have been hidden from us up until now. If Eren wants to destroy the world and that is, why have we not been shown his pov and why is there still mystery about a meeting between him and Historia? Similarly, there is the fact that it makes no sense for Eren to have told Floche his plan and not people he truly cared about. As a matter of fact even if he wants to destroy the world, why should he want a group like the Jeagersists rule over Paradis considering they are a threath to people like Hange and Levi he cares about?

All in all, why is he pushing Armin and Mikasa and the others away? No matter what theory is true, it must address this point.

Why I like them - Ryoko is just such a gentle and caring soul, how can you not like her? I like how mature she is in comparison to most of her classmates, but is still made out to be a person you can have fun with. She just has an insane amount of grace and elegance to her in all of her sophisticated calmness and I love her established role as big-sister-figure within the dorm and how it shows specifically when she interacts with Yuki and Megumi.

Why I like them - How can one not like Yuki? She’s such an adorable, supportive, little sunshine girl! Her bubbliness and joyful attitude are just very endearing and it’s always massive fun to watch her. She also has a bunch of funny moments and I enjoy how overdramatic she can get sometimes. To me, she’s a very fun and lovable example of an energetic character.

Why I like them - *deep breath* I like smart characters and his very role in Shokugeki is to be the smart guy, but there’s more to that…I like how he’s still shown to be a hard-worker who studies hard to survive in Totsuki’s harsh environment where he’s surrounded by natural geniuses and how he truly excels in the intellectual area. He’s also just great fun to watch wether he’s onto explaining something solemnly or greatly upset about something. I also do like the “Everybody’s-Doormat-Character” who complains about that status a lot because….that’s quite literally my life. Zenji is very relateable for me, because I too have to deal with people who never listen to me and I too am DAMN EASILY EXHAUSTED. Zenji has both serious moments and comedic moments and both work for me and I ju ST LOVE HIM SO MUCH. 

Why I don’t

Favorite episode (scene if movie) - CHAPTER 23/55 MY DUDES (AKA. Unpopular opinion - *DEEP BREATH* My son tends to get underestimated a lot and be brushed off as just a comic-relief and no-E10-Material and I just…..*sighs* People in the past, did consider Shun E10-Material and Zenji had the exact same score as Shun in the AE Premlins, so I can’t see why he shouldn’t have the same potential. I mean it doesn’t matter because we never got to see any of the two in the Elite 10 so meep, but I am just….sad about the fact that barely anyone is giving Zenji even a chance.

“Absolutely not.” Peter shakes his head. You frown at your dad, siding with your best friend instead.

“The school musical? We have to audition for the school musical?” You scrunch up your nose, not sure how you like this idea.

“Yes, there’s no backing out of it. I’ve already signed both of you up for auditions. The musical is Grease. The only reason I’m doing this is because you two decided to skip out on every other extracurricular you have. You’re practically screaming ‘I am a superhero and have no time for school!’ so school musical it is.” Tony explains, not giving either of you a choice.

“But dad, I can just enroll in band again or something--”

“Nope. We tried band but you quit. Musical theatre it is. Tryouts are next week, good luck.” He smiles and gives you a pat on the shoulder.

This was going to be a long week.

Finally, the day of auditions comes. You had spent the entire week begging your dad not to go through with it but secretly practicing just in case he did go through with it.

He went through with it.

“Are you nervous?” Peter asks, scratching the back of his neck.

“A little bit. You?” You hum, eyes flickering to the door into the auditorium. Peter is next in line to audition, then you.

“Really nervous.” He admits, looking at his feet.

“What song are you singing for your audition?” You ask, grabbing his hand to comfort him. This seems to relax him a bit.

“I was going to sing Sandy, you know, that Danny sings.” He bites his lip. You’re about to reply when someone interrupts you.

“It’s your turn, Parker.” Flash walks out arrogantly, flashing you a quick smile. You roll your eyes.

“You doin’ anything after this, Stark?” Flash sidles up to your side, an arm resting on your shoulder.

“If you keep your arm on my shoulder I’ll make sure you don’t do anything with the rest of your life.” You smile sweetly and brush his hand off. He laughs and walks off.

“I’ll get you eventually, (Y/n).” He promises.

“Unlikely.” You shake your head.

“So...it’s my time.” Peter clears his throat, staring daggers at where Flash walked off.

“You’re going to do great, Pete. Break a leg.” You smile and give him a small kiss on the cheek, causing his cheeks to turn a bright red. You dismiss it, thinking it’s only because he’s embarrassed and nervous.

“M’kay.” He goes into the auditorium, wide-eyed and still blushing.

A few moments later, Peter walks out with a sheepish smile.

“How did it go?” You ask, setting your hands on his shoulders.

“It went fine. I messed up a little bit and had a voice crack, but I think it went okay overall.” Peter shrugs, giving you another small smile.

“I’m sure you did great. Now, I’ve got to go in. Wish me luck!” You giggle and walk through the auditorium doors.

“You don’t need luck, (Y/n), you’ve got pure talent,” Peter whispers behind you, unbeknownst to you.

You walk onto the stage and introduce yourself to the panel of judges and start your song.

“Guess mine is not the first heart broken, my eyes are not the first to cry…” You start singing, keeping your eyes off the judges.

Soon enough, your song is over and you’re given sides to read as Sandy. You start to read.

And then, it’s over. You’re ushered out of the room as Liz Allen steps in after you, ready to audition.

“How’d it go?” Peter asks, giving you a reassuring smile that makes all your worries go away.

“Really well, I think. When is the cast list posted again?” You hum, giving him a bright smile.

“Friday,” Peter says.

“Ready to go back to the compound? I hear movie night calling our name.” You link your arm with Peter’s and walk home together.

Friday is here. The day of truth.

Who got what part?

You watch as the cast list is taped to the auditorium doors and everyone starts to crowd around. Peter, being slightly quicker than everyone else, including you, makes it to the door first. You push past everyone and read your name on the cast list.

Sandy Olsson - (Y/n) Stark

Holy crap, I got the lead, you think to yourself, growing excited.

That is until you hear an obnoxious voice behind you.

“I knew I’d get Danny.” Flash quips, high-fiving his friends behind you. You screw your eyes shut and will him to go away.

It doesn’t work.

“Hey, sweetcheeks, you ready for our big smooch?” Flash taps you on the shoulder, a devilish grin gracing his features.

“In your dreams, Flash.” You growl, shoving him away from you.

“Feisty. I’m sure you can channel some of that energy onto the stage…” He saunters off with his posse.

“Don’t pay attention to him, he’s a jerk.” Peter’s hand lands on your shoulder. You sigh and turn to him, giving him a small nod.

“I know, I’m just not excited to kiss him on stage.” You roll your eyes.

“I understand. Hey, by the way, I got Kenickie. He’s the second main guy, I think. Pretty cool, right?” Peter tries for a smile, but you can see he’s less than happy with the role. You glance at the sheet again and search for Peter’s name. Sure enough, it’s under Kenickie...but it’s also under the understudy for Danny.

“Hey, you’re Danny’s understudy, too. Maybe Flash will get sick before our performance and I won’t have to kiss his dreaded face.” You joke, trying to keep the blush off your face to no avail. Peter laughs, a light dusting crossing his face as well.

“I suppose we should go home and watch this movie, huh? To get to know our characters and stuff.” Peter suggests, holding his arm out. You link arms.

“Lead the way, Kenickie!” You grin and the two of you head back to the compound.

Rehearsals are a nightmare. It’s two days away from opening and you’re finally working on perfecting the closing scene. Unfortunately, that means no more marking your kiss. It’s the real deal now.

“Ready, Stark?” Flash gives you a cocky smirk, popping in a mint before the scene.

“Honestly? No, I’ll never be ready to kiss you. But, for the sake of the show, I won’t avoid you at all costs anymore.” You shoot back, rolling your eyes at the annoying boy.

“Sure, but you won’t be saying that once I kiss you. After that, I’ll have you wrapped around my finger.” He teases.

“Right. I doubt your kisses are good at all.” You snort, shaking your head as you get ready to get into costume.

The scene starts and you go through everything like normal. Then, it’s time for the finale. You’re The One That I Want starts playing and you try to shake off your disgust for one song, pretending that you’re actually in love with the human trash in front of you.

“I got chills, they’re multiplying…” Flash starts. You sing along to the music, doing everything perfectly as you were taught. Surprisingly, this musical was top notch for a school musical. You suppose it’s because your dad poured some money into it after you got the lead.

“You’re the one that I want!” You and Flash finish, your arms wrapped around Flash’s neck. Then, since it’s part of the musical, you press your lips to his. His arms snake around your waist and hold you there for a second too long before you can break away.

“Oh, Danny!” You hug him tightly, feeling Flash put his lips by your ear.

“Did you like that, Stark?” He murmurs, sending an unintended chill down your spine. You let go of the hug and finish the scene, plastering a fake smile to your face as you give your final bows.

“That was great, but we need to run everything from the kiss again. The kiss was...one-sided and awkward. (Y/n), you may not like Flash, but pretend you do. This isn’t flash, this is Danny. You’re in love with him, so act like it. Places!” The director yells out. You almost throw up in your mouth.

Again?

“Come back for more already?” Flash grins. You get into place, throwing your arms around his neck and trying to get into a flirty mindset. You bite your lip and throw Flash a sexy smirk, looking at him through your lashes. You picture Peter there instead. As soon as the director yells action, you crash your lips onto Flash’s, pretending with all of your might that it’s Peter. After a second, the two of you pull away. 

“Oh, Danny!” You repeat and hug him tightly. Flash is too stunned to hug back this time.

“Cut! Flash, what are you doing? Run it again!” The director yells. By this time, you’re fuming.

This goes on for another thirty minutes. Thirty minutes of kissing Flash. It’s your nightmare come true.

“Okay, that’s a wrap! We’re done for the day, folks.” You director dismisses everyone. You run to the restroom and gargle with mouthwash.

“You okay, (Y/n)?” Peter leans in the doorway. You spit out the mouthwash and turn to him, an unreadable look on your face.

“I-I don’t know how to feel.” You blink in bewilderment. You were disgusted, honestly, but you couldn’t admit that the only getting you through it was imagining Peter there instead. No way.

“You...uh, you seemed to like the kiss after the first time. Are Flash’s kisses really as good as he claims?” Peter lets out a forced laugh and you can’t answer. The answer is no, but he’ll ask why you looked like you enjoyed it so much. You could say for the sake of acting, but he knows you too well. There’s no way you could enjoy it that much without something else distracting you.

“Uh, I gotta go.” You frown and walk out, going to your changing room. Peter’s face falls. 

“Hey, Parker. Sad that I just stole your girlfriend from you?” Flash teases, arms crossed.

“She’s not my girlfriend.” Peter half-heartedly mumbles. In truth, yes, he was sad that you seemed to like Flash now.

“You want her to be, but that won’t happen anymore. Not while I’m around, at least.” He chuckles and takes off his T-Bird jacket, slinging it over his shoulder.

“Go away, Flash.” Peter walks out of the school. Flash can walk you home tonight, he’ll obviously ask and you’ll say yes.

“Peter?” You call out once you’re back at the Avengers Compound.

“What?” He sulks on the couch, flipping through TV channels.

“Why did you just leave me there at school? I had to have Flash drive me home!” You growl, your hands bunching up into fists.

“I figured you’d want him to take you home instead of me this time.” Peter shrugs, obviously not in the mood.

“You’re ridiculous.” You scoff and walk to your room, done with his sour mood and sulking. You don’t even know what he’s upset about.

Finally, it’s opening night. You had run the kissing scene a total of fifty times by the time the first show started, and it was ticking you off. You had to act as if you liked it when you hated it.

“Has anyone seen Flash?” A frantic stagehand runs around backstage, asking around everywhere.

“I just got a text from him!” One of his friends pipes up, reading from his phone.

“What does it say?” The stagehand takes the phone. Their face falls.

“He got in a car accident and broke his arm. He won’t be able to do the show this weekend.” The friend sighs. Your eyes light up.

“Where’s Peter Parker!?” The stagehand runs around for him now.

“Here.” Peter raises his hand dejectedly.

“You’re on for Danny. Where’s the guy covering for Kenickie!?” The stagehand runs off. Peter’s head shoots up and he looks over at you. You give him a small smile. In truth, you were still mad at him, but that’s his own doing. He had left you the past two nights as well to get a ride from Flash, always claiming it’s what you would’ve wanted. He doesn’t know what you really want, though.

You go through the musical with hardly any mess ups, Peter doing an amazing job. Honestly, you didn’t know he could sing so well.

Then the moment of truth comes, the ending scene. You work up the courage to go on stage, trying to hype yourself up. 

Music starts to You’re The One That I Want.

Everything’s a blur. The next thing you know you’re ending the song and your arms are wrapped around Peter’s neck. Breathing heavily, you crash your lips onto Peter’s and he reciprocates quickly. You take a second too long.

“Oh, Danny!” You pull away and hug Peter tightly, just like the script says to.  The only problem is that didn’t seem like a scripted kiss to you.

Oh no, that kiss was much too real to you.

You bow with Peter, hand-in-hand as you get a standing ovation. You smile as the entire cast gets together and you all give one last “You’re The One That I Want!” to which Peter dips you, in character, and presses his lips to yours again. The lights fade to black and you’re on your feet again.

That was definitely not scripted.

“Ready to go home?” Peter arrives at your dressing room door as you step out of it, stage makeup still on but in your normal clothes.

“Yeah.” You nod, smiling dazedly at Peter. Your head was still trying to process the two times he kissed you.

Did he feel it too?

“Come on.” Peter holds his arm out. You link arms like you always do, but this time it feels different. It feels more intimate.

Once you’re outside and on your way home, you decide to risk it and ask the question that you’re dying to ask.

“That last kiss...that wasn’t scripted, was it?” You hum, chickening out at the last second. You were going to ask him if he felt what you did when you kissed, but you couldn’t. 

“Oh, it wasn’t? Funny, I thought I saw it in there…” He clears his throat, turning bright red. You bite your lip.

“Dangit, Pete. Did you feel the same thing I did when we kissed?” You stop in your tracks, stopping him in the process. He turns to you, mouth open wide.

Instead of answering, though, he closes the distance between you two and kisses you again. You melt into him, arms going around his neck and threading through his hair as he wraps his arms around your waist. You finally break apart for air, breathing heavily.

“God, (Y/n), I’m in love with you. I have been since, like, ninth grade. I just didn’t know it until I saw you getting cozy with Flash. I was insanely jealous.” He runs a hand through his hair before grabbing your hand in his. You let out a sigh of relief. He feels the same.

“I’m in love with you, too, Peter Parker. The only way I could get through kissing Flash was because I imagined your face there instead.” You gag, rolling your eyes at the mere mention of kissing Flash.

“So that’s why you looked like you enjoyed it so much,” Peter smirks at you and you playfully whack his chest.

“Don’t get all arrogant on me now, Parker. You’re the one who was insanely jealous.” You hum and stand on your tiptoes, kissing him again. He closes his eyes and pulls you in close, staying like that for a second. You sigh into the kiss and relax even further into him.

“As much as I love making out with you in the middle of the sidewalk, I think we should get home before your dad comes to find us.” He teases, intertwining his fingers with yours.

“I think that would be best.” You smile and lean your head on his shoulder. The two of you spend the rest of the walk home smiling and laughing the whole way. No tension, no anger, all complications resolved.

You could spend the rest of your life like this.

~Bonus~ “Hey, Stark, even though I didn’t get to perform...I know you want more. My house, tonight?” Flash slides up to your locker, shutting it in front of you. You’re about to yell at him when you’re interrupted.

“Oh, hey, babe. You ready for class?” Peter strolls up, throwing an arm around your shoulders and kissing you softly.

“With you? Always.” You giggle and the two of you walk off, brushing right by Flash.

“What’s his face look like?” Peter chuckles. You throw a glance back and see Flash still standing in the same position, complete and utter shock on his face.

“Shocked. I’m glad your jealous side got ahold of you that time because that was hilarious.” You grin and kiss his jaw briefly.

“(Y/n)...” Peter whines almost warningly

“What?” You ask innocently as you walk into class with a devilish grin. 

Yeah, you could get used to this.
