daggers! my girl is made of knives. she's always carrying at least four more knives than you can see on her, and trying to disarm her can become absolutely comical

she learns how to fight with a sword and shield after being a Warden for a few years, and I like the idea of her eventually switching classes to warrior, but I don't think she'd ever stop being a knife lady.

1. What was your Warden’s origin like? What happened and how did it affect them?

she's a Cousland, so her origin was... bad. she was really close to all of her family, and Duncan had to literally drag her away from Highever to prevent her from dying with them

she dealt with her grief by being very angry at everything. I tend to compare her to a wildfire in Origins, burning herself out and trying to take everyone else with her. she was angry, and bitter, and had a bit of a death wish but somehow kept surviving everything thrown at her

2. How did they feel about being recruited into the Grey Wardens? What were Ostagar and the Korcari Wilds like for them?

bitter! Cait didn't have any illusions about her recruitment. Duncan didn't "save" her, he just offered her a different way to die

her memories of Ostagar are dark, but she has trouble differentiating if that's because of what happened there or the circumstances that brought her there. she wanted to wallow in her grief, or just blindly throw herself into a fight she couldn't win, but Duncan kept finding chores and errands she needed to do instead... (much, much later, she recognizes what he was trying to do, and appreciates it. he saved her life in more ways than one)

3. What did they think of King Cailan and Duncan? How did they react to their deaths?

she wasn't feeling especially charitable at the time, so she thought Cailan was an idiot and Duncan was a busybody who should've just left her alone

later, she understands Duncan better, why he made the choices he did and what he was trying to do for her, and she comes to appreciate and respect him (far too late)

but her opinion of Cailan remains... uncharitable. she thinks Cailan was naive, and overly cocky. he should've listened to Loghain, or Duncan, or both. he didn't see the big picture and was more concerned with his own personal glory and what was happening in the moment, and that got him and a lot of other people killed

4. How bad are their nightmares as a Warden? What do they think of the Calling?

she has nightmares almost every night, but they aren't all due to being a Warden. she just has a lot of Trauma. she's lucky, at least, that she doesn't often remember her dreams, she just frequently wakes up terrified in the middle of the night

Cait thinks the Calling is stupid and unnecessary. Wardens have known about the side effects of the Joining for centuries, they haven't figured out a way around it? why make recruits undergo the Joining at all, unless there's a Blight? why keep everything a secret?

between the Architect's experiments that freed some darkspawn from the Archdemon's call, and Avernus surviving centuries without losing his mind to the Calling, and with Corypheus creating a false Calling, Cait is determined to find a cure for the taint and save herself and the people she loves from ever having to take that walk

his name is Byron! I originally picked this name because I thought Caitie would want to give her dog a fancy name because he's nobility just as much as she is

but then I learned that there's actually a Byron Howe who fought alongside Maric and Loghain in the rebellion, so I decided that she just really likes war stories and named him after a hero (not realizing that she would grow up to be friends with Loghain and also with one of Byron's descendants)

7. Did they do much in Lothering, or pass right through? How did they feel about its destruction?

she did all the quests because I'm a completionist, but also because she wanted to help people as much as she could. she feels terrible that she wasn't able to do more, and that most if not all of those people died anyway. just another thing to feel guilty about

8. How does your Warden feel about Loghain painting the Wardens as traitors?

honestly, she would've done the same in his shoes. it's a smart play. she uses it to her advantage when she can, and tries to ignore it when she can't.

otherwise, she's not really bothered by it; she knows the truth of it, and she knows Loghain, paranoid as he is, is terrified of the day his lies come to light. she forges that into another weapon that she eventually turns against him

9. At the Circle, did they side with Cullen or save the mages?

saved the mages. killing a bunch of people because a couple of them might, someday, be demons? absolutely not

cults are crazy and do crazy things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ she thought Haven was creepy, but the cult itself didn't bother her so much.

the ashes themselves, and the gauntlet to get to them, were another story. they gave her... not a crisis of faith, exactly, but something like it. she found the whole thing very moving, and inspiring

but she didn't keep any of the ashes after healing Eamon. it felt disrespectful to carry around a piece of a dead woman, no matter how important or powerful said dead woman was

12. How did they react to seeing a loved one at the Temple of Sacred Ashes?

that was the first time she cried about her family's murders. she broke down completely, and begged her father's ghost for forgiveness

13. Did they help protect Redcliffe? What happened to Connor? How did they deal with Jowan?

she didn't hesitate to help protect Redcliffe, and managed to get through it without losing anyone.

in her canons that have her as the only Warden, she brings in the mages to save Conner and I think convinced Morrigan to go into the Fade. and she tried to convince Jowan to leave and save himself, but he stayed to try and help

in her canon where Carah Amell is there too, Carah's the one that goes into the Fade, and Carah convinces Jowan to travel with them because they're besties

14. How did they resolve the conflict in the Brecilian Forest? Did they side with the werewolves, the elves, or did they reach a truce?

Cait talked the werewolves and elves into compromising, everyone lives happily ever after. except the Lady of the Forest and Zathrian, I guess

Cait convinced Loghain (somehow, she still has no idea how) to perform the ritual with Morrigan, so none of the Wardens died killing the Archdemon. except poor Riordan

22. If your Warden survived, did they continue to serve the Grey Wardens? What is their life like after the Blight?

she continued to serve the Grey Wardens until the events of Inquisition. in the canon where she and Carah are both recruited, Carah becomes Warden-Commander and Cait is her second in command and eventually promoted to Warden-Constable. in canons where she's the only one, she becomes Warden-Commander

in the time between Awakening and Inquisition, her life is pretty quiet actually. she trains new recruits, she helps Anora keep the nobility in line, she probably gets married (when varies wildly depending on which canon we're talking about), and she starts researched a cure for the taint and the Calling

23. If your Warden survived and remained a Warden, what boon did they ask of the new ruler of Ferelden?

she becomes Chancellor to the Queen (or King and Queen, depending), though I do sometimes wish I'd had her made Teyrna of Gwaren (even though she has zero interest in more titles thank you) because of the potential for shenanigans

24. What gifts would raise their approval rating if they were a companion?

I feel like her big plot-specific gift would be a dagger of some time. one with the Cousland crest on it, maybe? or a copy of The Ballad of Cathain, which is the story about the warrior woman she was named after

she let Morrigan leave. she only undertook the hunt for her because she wanted to make sure her friend was okay. though she is disappointed she didn't get to meet Kieran (until much, much later, post-Inquisition)

27. Did the warden you used for Awakening kill the Architect or spare him? What happened to Amaranthine and Vigil’s Keep?

she ultimately ended up sparing him, though she still isn't sure if it was the right decision

Amaranthine and Vigil's Keep both survived the battle fairly unscathed. the Keep was reinforced and rebuilt to within an inch of its life, and she and her team went to Amaranthine to protect it

You attempt to rub your eyes as you wake up, but find that you can’t move your arms. You look down and find Spencer’s tan arms thrown over you, holding you tightly.

You smile slightly, trying to move your arms so you can check the time. You hear Spencer softly groan, pulling you closer to him.

“Let me check the time.” You say softly, admiring the way that the sun shines on his skin. Spencer didn’t tend to sleep shirtless, but he did whenever you were over. He remembered the one time you said that you liked skin on skin contact, and he���d been doing it ever since.

Spencer lifted his arm slightly, letting you grab your phone. “7:33” it read. You run a hand over your hair, turning your phone off and going back to his arms, laying slightly on top of him.

You know he is smiling as he rubs up and down your back, scratching occasionally. You sigh, sinking even more into him. You trace patterns onto his skin, up and down his ribs.

“You would look really good with a tattoo.” You mumble, feeling his sides.

“Oh really?” He asks, “What of?”

You bring your head up to look at him, “I think you should get my name, in bold letters, across your collarbones.” You say, a goofy smile on your face.

“Only if you get a tasteful nude portrait of me on your bicep.” He retorts, smiling back at you.

“Deal.” You say, sticking your hand out. Instead of Spencer shaking it though, he pulls you in for a soft kiss. It is short, yet still meaningful.

After he pulls away, he looks into your eyes, brushing a piece of hair from your face.

“I want to stay like this forever.” Spencer confesses, and you smile.

“Though it can’t be forever, let’s make it last as long as possible, yeah?” You say, and Spencer nods, kissing you on the nose.

That is how the rest of your day is spent, laying in each other’s arms, and talking about everything, but nothing at all.

“was there anyone else there beside Nicholas?” the man asks him, staring into his eyes.

“No.” he answers, short and to the point.

“Liar!” the man says, pushing him down onto the floor.

he grunts as he hits the cold tile, he feels the pain on his unnecessarily bruised body.

“i’ll ask ya’ one more time,” the man snarls, “was there anyone else there beside Nicholas?”

“yes.” he says, slightly above a whisper.

“see soldat? that wasn’t so hard was it?” the man says, false praise in his voice.

Bucky shakes his head, shaking on the floor.

“now, who was it?” the man asks, crouching down to Bucky’s eye level.

“two women, and a man.” he lets out, almost cringing at the fact that he’s telling the man this.

“what did this man look like?” the man presses for more information.

“I don’t.. really remember.” he says.

“more lies!” the man yells, striking Bucky across the face.

“I know you remember soldat. Now tell me!” the man yells again.

Bucky closes his eyes. “he was light haired, had blue eyes, and was taller than me.” he chokes out.

“did he see you, at all?” the man says, pulling Bucky’s head up by the hair.

“yes.” he answers.

“god, we train you, and you can’t even get one thing right.”

“don’t lie again.” the man says, standing up. “someone get him a shower, he’s fucking filthy.” the man says out loud, kicking Bucky with his boot.

‘you can’t get one thing right’

Bucky repeats this phrase over and over in his head as he is undressed and washed by a woman he’s never met in his life. the violation is something he’s used to.

the man was right, he can’t get one thing right. he makes mistakes way too often.

“since you want to make mistakes soldat, we have to make you correct them.” Mister Pierce says to him.

another file is presented to him. he opens it, but he is not ready for the sight.

there’s no name accompanying the picture, but he doesn’t need there to be.

Steve.

“the job is simple. kill him.” mister pierce says. “and this time, it doesn’t matter if you’re seen. since you had so much trouble last time.”

Bucky nods, closing the file.

“he might have people with him, the ones you saw before. you will be relentless.” Pierce continues.

“men will come with you, and they will help a bit, to clearly need it. but, as always, you are out main asset.” Bucky simply nods, not really focused.

“you move out at 700 hours, be ready.” Pierce finishes.

Bucky’s consciousness is screaming at him, don’t do it, don’t do it.

but he has to. hydra is his home. his savior. they just want him to be better.

so he follows, going to his small, hard bed. he dreamlessly sleeps for a few hours.

“move out.” they tell him. he jumps from the back of the van, into the traffic.

he sprints, and jumps on the car where his mission is.

kill the offending agent, then kill Steve.

he does just that, he grabs the agent and throws him into oncoming traffic.

since the people are in a car, it’s more unpredictable. the driver stops the car to a complete halt, and Bucky flies off.

luckily, he stops himself with arguably the best thing that has ever happened to him. the arm hydra gifted him.

he stalks closer the the car, and the van he was previously in smashes it.

he sees Steve, a woman on top of him. he doesn’t want to do it, but he has to.

he calculates quickly when he needs to leap, and lands on the top of the car, smashing the windshield.

he reaches through, and tears the steering wheel from its place. sometimes even he is surprised by his own strength.

he flies off the car again, landing on the van.

this is so much different than what he’s used to, he’s never been seen by so many.

the van hits the car once more, making it go into the air. he witnesses all 3 people fall out, braced by Steve’s shield.

a man hands him a gun, he should just get it over with now. he aims the gun quickly, and fires the explosive at Steve.

but Steve’s reflexes are too quick, and he uses the shield. Steve is thrown off the highway, Bucky doesn’t know where to.

Now, he focuses on the other two people, attempting to kill them, but to no avail.

the red haired woman shoots at him, cracking his goggles. he takes them off, determination in his eyes.

to get a better vantage point, he jumps from the highway to the ground level.

he makes the Steve’s friends a priority, attempting to do anything not to hurt his friend.

he hears a voice, behind a car. he rolls the explosive under the car, bracing himself for the impact.

it explodes, but no sign of anyone is shown. the red haired woman comes behind him, wrapping her legs around his neck.

he throws her off, and gets his gun ready. he aims, but is debilitated by a device attached to him metal asset.

he desperately attempts to get it off, giving enough time for the woman to get away.

he runs toward her, then shoots her in the shoulder to take her down.

he climbs on top of another car to get her for good, but is pushed off.

he turns his head, expecting to be met with Steve, or the other man. but he’s not.

instead, he’s met with someone he never thought he would see again

the woman in the window, and she’s clenching her fists in anger.

So what are the chances that the Cas that died in front of Sam and Dean was actually the other world's Cas?

I hope you don’t mind replying to your ask together with this one I received that is on this topic too:

It is pretty obvious that Castiel will be back for season 13 but if it is Jack that brings him back to life wouldn’t he also be able to bring his own mother back as well? Not only that but if he was powerful enough to create a rift before he was born he should easily be able to open one now that he is born and nearly full size it seems. I also thinks that it would be cool for Jack to get attached to Dean and Sam, that would piss off Lucifer so much!       

Yes, even before Jared stumbled upon his words at JIB (I felt so bad for him in that moment, because you could tell how he was just excited to talk about the episode until he realized that he had unintentionally dropped a major spoiler) I guess most people were fairly certain that Cas wouldn’t be dead for good. Tbh I am still upset over the way they handled this bit of story, because it’s just pure shock value and another instance of death being meaningless on Supernatural. And with a character death like this one, with Cas’ wings torched into the ground, I personally feel it will be very hard and maybe impossible for the writers to come back from that without it being cheap. I had much preferred it if Cas had been locked away in the other dimension as well rather than killed, because like I said, I find it handled rather poorly and kind of dread whatever Dabb comes up with in how to get Castiel back.

I have been kicking different scenarios around in my head for the past couple of days regarding Cas with taking into account how Misha said at JIB 8 that Cas may be back, but transformed in some fashion.

The first possibility would of course be that either that Jack at first proves to not be all that creepy, but actually brings back Cas - the other person aside from his mother that he manipulated and mind controlled and one could argue maybe formed some sort of “bond” with and “cares” about, esepcially if he may be unable to bring back his mom. Could also be that Sam and Dean urge him to bring back Cas - I dislike both of these scenarios however, because it would further the absolute idiocy of killing Castiel of for pure shock value reasons and have him “fine again” three episodes later. They could have just left out Cas dying altogether then.

The second possibility that I personally think could be a route for them to go is that only Castiel’s angelic side died, but that Cas’ essence, his soul so to speak, for some weird reasons survived (possibly due to how Jack had dosed him up prior) - meaning we would get Human!Cas. Since I personally think it makes no other sense to wrap up Castiel’s arc than him becoming human, I would enjoy him as a human - BUT we had that arc already in S9 and even more problematic Cas then again wouldn’t have chosen to become human on his own accord, which to me is a vital and important part for Cas’ individuation arc. So that is why while I like Human!Cas, I am also not too happy with that option.

The third possibility that you mention, dear anon, about Jack being close t the Winchesters, is something I would find interesting in so far as of course it would mess most with Lucifer and would put Lucifer in his father’s shoes, but in reversal - having a rebellios son who sides with humanity. That said, I don’t really think they’ll make Jack a “good guy”, he may not be a total “villain” from the get go, but I think even if he may want to create a better world, it may be the means through which he wants to achieve them that will place him in the antagonist position. Plus: Of course we only got a glimpse of him, but to me he didn’t look all to chill, so I’d rather imagine him being pissed off about his father being locked up in another parallel universe - so he might not be the bestest friend of the Winchesters. Inay case however it seems clear that one arc of the next season will be that the Winchester may have to work with Jack, because he may be the only to either resurrect Cas or help them get to the other world for them to retrieve Mary - and I suppose then Jack may also want to get Lucifer back, which would bring us back to the start and more issues. Who knows, maybe over the course of the season Jack evolves and when they can get Mary back, he actually wants to keep his father locked up there, but yeah that’s all just random crazy thoughts.

And last but not least to your idea @deanarandi. :) To quote Jim Beaver: “Anything’s possible.” Though I have to admit the scenario I am currently finding the most interesting would be something a little different to this. I personally think it could be extremely interesting - while of course truly sad - if our Cas truly remained dead (I don’t actually think the show would do it, but bear with me here, in terms of storytelling and drama this could have a lot of potential) and that whenever Dean and Sam manage to enter the other world again they would cross paths with that Castiel. A Castiel who never met the Winchesters as they were never born in that world. It could be a way to bring a bit of S4 bamf!Castiel back, but it could also be a great set up of re-exploring Castiel as a character and how much of what makes him a “special case” is due to the Winchesters and how much may have come from within him already. I personally would find it very intriguing to see that other world’s Castiel meet them for the first time and how that would play out. I am probably the only one who would find this scenario compelling, but yeah, it could be a great way to delve into topics of identiy, but also a way for some sweet angst. It could be a great way to re-examine the character, fill it with new life.

And also, if you want to look at this with slight shipping goggles (which is not what interests me about this scenario, because I am more interested in Cas as a character by himself and the other characters by themselves and only after that in how they relate to one another, etc.) you could make this a slightly sappy but possibly sweet story about how even when world’s literally part them, that they’d find their way back to one another. Hell, they could even go with that other world’s Cas suddenly remembering things from the other world’s Cas’ mind - or, you know, the show finally does indeed answer the question where do angels go when they die? Since I don’t think they will introduce a third dimension aside from the greyland, I would assume that maybe angels don’t die, but get tossed from world to world not remembering their past lives - but of course with Cas that would be different than at some point. ;)

You wave him off, and continue on your monologue.

“I bet you don’t even fucking remember them do you? Elizabeth and Richard Wilcox? No? Of course you don’t. Because they were just another victim to you.” You feel the tears coming to your eyes and flowing down your face.

you press the metal closer to his neck. are you going to kill him? you don’t know yet.

“you just left me there! alone, scared. but you didn’t even care. 8 years old! while I heard my parents final cries in the room next over.” You cry, rambling at this point.

“I’m sorry.” Bucky breathlessly says, “they didn’t suffer.”

“Wait, wha-’’ your confusion is interrupted by the soldier kicking you off of him. he jumps up to run away, but is taken down by Steve.

they fight, and it’s seems to be never ending. you step away and hide behind some rubble.

Steve pulls the soldier over his shoulder. the mask comes off in the process.

you saw him before Steve did, a cry fills the air as you see the man behind the mask.

when he heard the scared cries and whispers of a child hiding underneath their bed, he couldn’t do it.

so he left her. telling his handler he did the job.

coming back from his mission today, it seemed as if the same thing happened.

he couldn’t kill the seemingly innocent girl. he killed her parents, she doesn’t deserve to be killed as well.

he heard her cry when his identity was revealed. she must of read about him when she met Steve.

he continued to fight Steve. but hesitated when he saw the girl crying behind a car.

he caused that. he causes pain to the innocent.

in those 2 seconds he was in thought, he was shot at. the ghost did what he did, and disappeared.

he’s going to be punished. will hydra know that he left the girl? he won’t tell them, no.

he already apologized, but he has to make it right.
