user3: SHE'S BACK
user4: that month she was gone was dragging
user5: i almost forget she has a job lol there's always so much drama i forgot girly was getting the bag
danielricciardo: oh what a lovely picture of you two being gross at dinner i wonder who took it
yourusername: it's this lovely gentleman, i'll have to introduce you. he's quite loud, very charming and should consider going into theatre with his vocal projection
danielricciardo: you think i'm ready for the stage?
maxverstappen1: i think we all think you're ready for the stage
user6: wait so do you think daniel, heidi, y/n and max go on double dates? that's so cute
user7: sometimes i hurt myself by thinking it could've been a triple date if charles wasn't such as ass
maxverstappen1: when she's a triple threat 😍
yourusername: but i can't sing, dance or act?
maxverstappen1: but you are smart, beautiful and can put up with me :)
yourusername: you act like being with you is a chore maxy :( i'd spend all my waking moments with you if i could
landonorris: i'm sending these ^^ comments to my therapist, you guys make me feel so lonely
maxverstappen1: sorry dude
yourusername: lando !! let us play matchmaker ??
landonorris: i'll let you play matchmaker just don't let max have too much input
maxverstappen1: why not i clearly have good taste?
user8: anyone else wondering whether y/n and charles actually spoke after he was seen outside her building?
user9: i was thinking about that too ... i'm guessing they either didn't or it didn't go well by the fact that he's no where to be seen here

maxverstappen1: new weekend, new helmet. this one was designed by the love of my life who put her architecture degree to good use to make me this beautiful lid. love you y/n hope to bring you a trophy back in return 🧡

user13: max being the resident grid sweetheart was not on my 2023 bingo card
yourusername: no worries max, it was an absolute honour to design a helmet for you.
maxverstappen1: it's an honour to wear something designed by you
yourusername: call me the adrian newey of helmet design
maxverstappen1: that's a big shout, that i'm inclined to believe
redbullracing: adrian gives his stamp of approval y/n !
user14: i swear in an older charles vlog y/n spoke about how she always wanted to design a helmet for him :( i'm glad she finally got to do it
user15: no shade but at least this helmet might actually win the race lol
danielricciardo: cute lid, is y/n open for commission?
maxverstappen1: nope she's mine and mine only (unless you're paying)
yourusername: what he said
user16: i just know charles is screaming, crying and throwing up rn
user17: probably not, people stop being friends all the time, he's got more than one friend and is a millionaire, he's living his best life
user16: his track record says otherwise, he's extremely petty, he probably can't handle that max and y/n don't care about him anymore
user18: tbf from what we saw charles was looking to reconcile, it's more y/n who has been unreasonable
user19: i think she's well within her rights to refuse forgiveness and from reports charles never apologised, this has been a pattern of behaviour for years now. she deserved better, she's now got better
liked by maxverstappen1
user20: i love that max likes all the shady comments about the situation cause i know y/n would never

user21: if there's one thing men will have, it's the audacity
user22: well this is an interesting response
user23: are we meant to clap?
arthurleclerc: what happened to the plan?
charles_leclerc: than plan failed in the minute she closed the door in my face
arthurleclerc: call me, but also stop making excuses
user24: yes it is logical to do this offline arthur, but consider this, i want to read the drama
user25: but at this point how is it drama? it's just charles being stubborn. y/n gave him a full explanation and by the look of it he didn't do a very good job with it
user26: the thing is i honestly believe that however bad the apology would be y/n would still forgive him. they've been friends for so long i think she honestly wants it to work out but shit like this does not help his case
carlossainz55: mate i am so confused
charles_leclerc: what's so confusing? she can say that this has led to her finding "the real thing" but i can't?
carlossainz55: but if you wanted to reconcile, you look like an asshole
charles_leclerc: fine, make me the bad guy like everyone else
user27: charles is really in his whiny boy era lord
user28: all i know is that y/n and max are probably at home having the laugh of their lives

user31: they are the cutest couple on the grid, perhaps of all time
user32: they're defo on the way to that, if they get married could defo grab best couple of all time
user33: the way she still stopped at ferrari to talk to arthur and wish him and charles luck ... clearly there's a bigger person here
user34: y/n is already so close to the verstappens, her and sophie and victoria were together all weekend.
user35: my friend had a paddock pass and overheard sophie asking y/n when she'll be giving her more grandkids
user36: OMG WHAT? what did y/n say?
user35: that she'd have to be mrs. verstappen first
user37: do not play with me right now if we get the charles and y/n friend breakup and y/n and max engagement all in one season my brain may explode
user38: if max weren't winning every race anyway i'd defo say that this is the lucky helmet
user39: i mean grand slams aren't that common, so maybe it is
user40: max win and charles disasterclass, the best weekend possible for y/n
user41: i don't think she actually wants charles to do badly though, she wouldn't have wished him luck..

user44: why am i actually so happy for people i don't even know
yourusername: i can't think of a better way to spend the rest of my life, red bull drive babysitter and cat mama
maxverstappen1: i think jimmy and sassy might just be as excited as me (maybe)
yourusername: i know i can tell by all the holes in my shoes
maxverstappen1: we all have our ways of showing love, some bites holes in shoes, some like to follow you everywhere
landonorris: the way max could be either one
maxverstappen1: ummm i'm trying to be romantic stop accusing me of biting my fiancee's shoes
yourusername: don't worry maxy, i'd still marry you even if you bite my shoes
user45: this is an amazing thing and not to bring the mood down, but do we think y/n will invite charles to the wedding?
user46: max could as well, they are friends, even if charles is trying to use their rivalry as a 'reason' to be angry at this relationship

When They Know They're In Love ~ Vagastrom Edition
I will be doing the other houses and will link them here once they're posted (Frostheim is already done). I hope you like this and if you did, please feel free to send in requests for what you'd like to see.
Fandom: Tokyo Debunker
Characters: Alan Mido, Leo Kurosagi, Sho Haizono x gn! Reader
Frostheim | Vagastrom | Jabberwock | Sinostra | Hotarubi | Obscuary | Mortkranken
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How do the characters know they're in love and what will they do when they realise?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, Alan knows what his feelings towards you are. He just refuses to believe them. He’s hurt too many people before and can’t bring himself to put you through that as well.
I think Alan’s feelings would creep up on him slowly but he really feels it when your life is in danger on the first mission the two of you went on.
He saw you in the clutches of the streamer’s ghost and fear and fury burst inside him.
He’s going to barricade himself in his room for a while after that, refusing to see anyone while he works through his feelings and what he should do. But not seeing you hurts him more than his fear of causing you pain.
Eventually, he’ll realise his absence is hurting you as much as it’s hurting him and will come to terms with the fact that he’s got to make things right by telling you how he’s feeling.
“This guy? In love? Yeah, right. With himself maybe.” That’s what Leo’s telling himself in his mirror during his daily affirmations.
He had a plan. Get close to the (admittedly attractive) NPC and show you off on social media for clout and to stir up drama.
Then, just as you were starting to develop real feelings towards him, break off any hope and cut all connection to you.
And then he just had to go and catch feelings when you kept acting so kind towards him. It’s not his fault he was so good at acting you thought he was being genuine. And now, it’s not an act anymore.
Leo’s going to be in denial for a long time but when he does finally realise he wants to be in a relationship with you, he’ll have to come clean. Let’s hope you forgive him.
Sho has a complex relationship with you already. He nearly got you killed because of Leo’s stupid plan. And you’re so supportive of his food truck, something no one else has shown him.
He's just started considering you a real friend when something in his feelings has changed.
So when he realises the sinking feeling in his chest is because you didn’t visit the food truck today and because he really did want to see you, he doesn’t really know what to do with himself.
He won’t outright tell you his feelings at first but I think he would get a bit more flustered around you, gifting you more handmade snacks and meals out of the usual schedule the two of you have.
He’s got to try and be subtle though. The last thing he wants is for anyone (Leo) to find out before he gets to chance to confess his love to you properly.

How I think the main MXTX couples would vibe with each other:
WangXian and HuaLian:
Wei Wuxian being Wei Wuxian is ready to talk the ear off of anyone willing to listen. Xie Lian being Xie Lian is just as willing to listen as Wei Wuxian is to talk. They'd be the gossiping stay-at-home wives/soccer moms that would see each other at the grocery store or their kids' soccer match and end up talking for hours while their husbands stand off to the side like 🧍♂️ and do that awkward little Dad Nod of Acknowledgement before refusing to make eye contact for the rest of WWX and XL's conversation. Both of the husbands have little to no opinion about each other's spouses besides "that's my wife's friend".
BingQiu and WangXian:
Similarly, gossiping housewife energy. Though their gossip is definitely more on the drama end "who does x think she is?!" Rather than just chill conversation. On the other hand, I don't think Lan Wangji would like Binghe all that much, unfortunately. Similar 🧍♂️ energy but with slight animosity. I can't even explain why, I just feel like Binghe would incur the same level of "shameless!" Comments as Wei Wuxian, except unlike Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji isn't horny for Binghe, and therefore he's never forgiven for it. LWJ reminds SQQ of Liu Qingge, but even more repressed (make of that what you will). LWJ has probably held one (1) conversation with SQQ before, and generally thinks he's respectable, if not someone with poor taste in men.
HuaLian and BingQiu:
Shen Qingqiu is yet another one of the "mean"/snarky friends in Xie Lian's entourage. He's basically just another Mu Qing/Feng Xin. Meanwhile, Binghe HATES Hua Cheng. With a burning passion. Unlike the other couples combos, Shen Qingqiu CANNOT bring Binghe around when he goes to see Xie Lian, because Hua Cheng will undoubtedly be there and he's NOT trying to deal with yet ANOTHER Whole Foods Incident.
Binghe's hatred for Hua Cheng lies solely in the jealousy category, because what the FUCK does he mean he's a demon that didn't have to chase his idol down in order for senpai to finally notice him? The fuck? Xie Lian KNEW from the BEGINNING that Hua Cheng was a ghost, the ghostiest ghost in town even, and he STILL banged him? No world-ending demon sword possessions necessary??? HUH??? This wouldn't even bother him so much if Hua Cheng didn't rub it in his face deliberately. HC is SMUG. I saw a post somewhere about how Hua Cheng and Mobei-Jun can't coexist in the same universe because he'd be too jealous over the fact that MBJ was literally created to be his god's ideal man, and I'd imagine this would be Hua Cheng's way of settling the score.
Similarly to the first, HC and LBH only vaguely recognize the others' spouse as "my wife's friend".

Aemond stood there, paralyzed by the ache in his heart, his mind racing with regret and remorse. How could he have been so blind, so careless with her feelings? The realization hit him like a punch to the gut, leaving him reeling with guilt.
Meanwhile, Alys lingered in the living room, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips as she observed the drama unfolding before her. The sight of Y.N's tears seemed to amuse her, feeding into her own twisted sense of satisfaction.
"Well, well-looks like someone's in for a rough night," Alys remarked, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she turned to face Aemond. "I must say, I didn't expect this little reunion to be quite so entertaining.
"Why the fuck are you here, Alys?" Aemond demanded, his tone sharp and accusatory. "What could possibly possess you to waltz back into my life like this?"
Alys met his gaze with a cool indifference, her lips curling into a smug smile. "I missed you, Aemond," she replied casually, as if her words held no weight. "I thought maybe we could-pick up where we left off."
Aemond scoffed at her audacity, his disbelief giving way to a simmering anger. "Are you serious?" he snapped, his voice dripping with contempt. "Our relationship ended for a reason, Alys. And there's no way I'm ever going back to you."
Alys's smile faltered slightly at Aemond's words, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features. "Are you sure about that, Aemond?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of desperation.
But Aemond's resolve remained steadfast, his determination unyielding. "I've never been surer of anything in my life," he declared, his voice firm and resolute. "Now, get the fuck out of my apartment and out my life"
Alys's expression hardened at his words, her facade of confidence crumbling before his eyes. In a desperate bid to regain control, she reached out to touch him, but Aemond recoiled, his body tensing with disgust.
"Don't touch me," he spat, his voice laced with venom. "You have no right to be here, Alys. Now get out."
"Is this because of her?" asked Alys.
"Don't talk about Y.N-she's more of a woman than you'll ever be" snarled Aemond.
"Sure she is-" mocked Alys.
"Your a vile whore-get the fuck out"
"Y.N is obviously in love with you and you're so pathetic that you can't admit you love her in return." retorted Alys.
With a final, disdainful glance, Alys turned on her heel and stormed out of the apartment, leaving Aemond alone.
Aemond sank onto the couch, his mind swirling with regret and remorse. How many precious moments had he squandered, how many opportunities had he let slip through his fingers, all because of his own stupidity?
But as he sat there, lost in the labyrinth of his thoughts, a flicker of determination ignited within him. He refused to let fear and doubt hold him back any longer. He refused to let the love he felt for Y.N remain unspoken, buried beneath layers of denial and regret.
With a newfound resolve, Aemond rose to his feet, his heart pounding with a sense of purpose. He knew what he had to do, and he wouldn't waste another moment in hesitation.
He stood before Y.N's closed bedroom door, his heart pounding in his chest as he gathered the courage to speak the words he had kept locked away for far too long. With a trembling hand, he raised his fist and knocked, the sound echoing through the quiet apartment.
For a moment, there was silence, broken only by the soft rustle of fabric from within the room. Aemond held his breath, waiting anxiously for Y.N's response, his heart hammering in his ears.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door creaked open a crack, revealing Y.N's tear-stained face. Her eyes were red-rimmed and swollen, her expression guarded as she regarded him with a mixture of apprehension and disbelief.
"Aemond-what do you want?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her tone tinged with a hint of bitterness.
Aemond swallowed hard, his throat tight with emotion as he met Y.N's gaze, his own eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Y.N, I-I need to tell you something, and I should have said this to you a long time ago-" he began, his voice trembling with raw vulnerability. "-but I love you, I always have, and I was just too much of a coward to tell you-”
Y.N's eyes widened in shock at Aemond's confession, her breath catching in her throat as the weight of his words sank in. For a moment, she simply stared at him, her mind racing with a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
But then, without a word, she reached out slapped him hard across the face and slammed the door shut, the sound reverberating through the silent apartment like a gunshot.
Aemond stood there with a hand pressed to his cheek, frozen in disbelief, his heart shattering into a million pieces as he realized the gravity of what had just transpired.
Tears welled up in his eye as he leaned against the closed door, the weight of rejection crushing him like a vice. He had laid his heart bare, exposed his deepest truths, only to be met with silence and indifference.
As he sank to the floor, his shoulders shaking with silent sobs, Aemond knew that he had lost the one person who meant everything to him.
In the aftermath of Aemond's confession, a heavy silence settled over the apartment, thick with tension and unspoken words. Y.N retreated into herself, her heart aching.
Days turned into weeks, and still, Y.N remained silent, her once vibrant spirit cloaked in a shroud of sorrow and uncertainty. She avoided Aemond at every turn, retreating into the safety of solitude as she grappled with the tumult of emotions swirling within her.
Aemond, haunted by the echo of Y.N's slamming door, and the sting of her hard slap. He longed to reach out to her, to plead for her forgiveness, but the chasm between them seemed insurmountable, a gaping void that threatened to swallow him whole.
He watched from afar as Y.N moved through the apartment like a ghost, her presence a silent reminder of the rift that had formed between them. Each glance, each fleeting glimpse only served to deepen the ache in his heart, a constant reminder of the love he had confessed and the pain it had wrought.
But no matter how he longed to bridge the gap between them, Y.N remained steadfast in her silence, her walls impenetrable as she withdrew further into herself.
"I don't know what to do," Aemond admitted, his voice tinged with frustration. "Y.N won't even speak to me. I've ruined everything."
Aegon rolled his eyes, his patience wearing thin. "Oh, stop whining," he chided, his tone laced with exasperation. "You should never have let Alys into the flat in the first place, what the fuck were you thinking".
Aemond's heart sank at his brothers' words, the truth of their observations hitting him like a ton of bricks. How could he have been so blind, so foolish?
"I know," Aemond murmured, his voice heavy with regret. "I've been an idiot."
“A right cunt more like-“ snapped Aegon.
“-Like you can talk“ retorted Aemond.
“I don’t offer my sperm to my best friend who’s in love with me and then spend weeks fucking her, only to deny a relationship the first chance I get” said Aegon.
“I fucked up-don’t you think I know that. It’s just seeing Alys again; Y.N was standing there after telling me she was pregnant, and you should have seen the way Alys was looking at her-I panicked” said Aemond.
“Pfft like that mutton dressed as lamb could ever touch Y.N or do you not remember when she slapped her?”
“I recently found myself on the receiving end of Y.N’s slap, it’s not pleasant” muttered Aemond as he rubbed his cheek.
Daeron's patience wore thin as he watched his brother, Aemond, wallow in self-pity and indecision. With a heavy sigh, he decided it was time to intervene, to shake Aemond out of his stupor and confront the harsh reality before him.
"Aemond, do you have any idea what you put Y.N through?" Daeron began, his voice tinged with frustration. "After everything Alys did to you – the lies, the cheating, the verbal abuse – Y.N was there for you. She stood by your side through it all, supporting you, loving you, even when you couldn't see it".
Aemond winced at the reminder of his past with Alys, the memories still raw and painful. He knew Daeron was right, knew he had taken Y.N's unwavering support for granted, and for that, he felt a profound sense of guilt.
"I know, I’m a twat," Aemond admitted, his voice heavy with remorse.
Daeron's expression softened slightly, his gaze filled with a mixture of sympathy and frustration. "Then stop acting like one," he admonished gently. "You have a chance to make things right, to show Y.N how much she means to you. Don't waste it."
Aemond nodded solemnly, his resolve hardening with each word Daeron spoke.
Aemond's heart skipped a beat as he stepped through the door of their apartment, the weight of his resolve heavy upon him. But as he entered the familiar space, his eyes widened in surprise at the sight before him.
There, sitting on the sofa with a small bag packed at her feet, was Y.N. Her eyes were red-rimmed, her expression guarded as she met his gaze, a tumult of emotions swirling beneath the surface.
"Y.N-" Aemond began, his voice catching in his throat as he struggled to find the words. "What's going on? Where are you going?"
Y.N's gaze flickered with uncertainty as she regarded him, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke. "I'm going to stay with Helaena," she replied, her tone subdued. "I-I need some space, Aemond."
Aemond's heart clenched at her words, the reality of her departure hitting him like a punch to the gut. "Y.N, please," he pleaded, his voice thick with emotion. "Don't go. We need to talk."
But Y.N remained resolute; her decision made. "I can't do this right now, Aemond," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I need time to think, to figure things out."
With a heavy heart, Aemond watched as Y.N gathered her things and made her way to the door.
As Y.N reached for the doorknob, her hand trembling with emotion, Aemond realised he couldn't let her go, couldn't bear the thought of losing her. With a surge of determination, he crossed the room in quick strides, his hand reaching out to grasp her arm gently but firmly.
"Y.N, wait," he pleaded, his voice choked with emotion as he looked into her eyes, his own filled with tears. "Please don't go."
Y.N's breath caught in her throat at the raw vulnerability in Aemond's voice, her heart aching at the sight of him crumbling before her. She turned to face him, her gaze softening as she took in the anguish etched upon his features.
"Aemond-" she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
But Aemond couldn't hold back any longer. With a shuddering breath, he collapsed to his knees before her, his tears flowing freely as he bared his soul to her.
"I panicked, Y.N," he confessed, his voice trembling with emotion. "When I saw Alys, I-I was too afraid to lose you. Too afraid to tell you how I feel."
"Aemond-" whispered Y.N
"I'm hopelessly in love with you, Y.N," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I have been since the day you accidentally tipped hot coffee all over me. You've been there for me in a way no one else ever has."
"I love you too, but you've broken my heart," confessed Y.N, her voice trembling with sorrow.
"Please, Y.N," he pleaded, his words choked with tears. "I know I've made mistakes, but I love you. I'll do anything to make things right. Please forgive me."
Y.N's gaze softened as she looked down at him, her heart aching at the sight of his brokenness. She wanted to believe him, but the wound he had inflicted ran deep.
"Aemond, I want to believe you," she murmured, her voice filled with sadness. "But I need time. I need space to heal."
Aemond nodded, his shoulders slumping with resignation. "I understand," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y.N stood before him, her resolve firm as she made her decision. "I'm going to stay with Helaena” she told him gently. "But don't forget, the first scan for the baby is in a week's time."
With that, she turned and walked towards the door, leaving Aemond kneeling on the floor, his heart shattered into a million pieces. As the door clicked shut behind her, he let out a guttural sob, his tears flowing freely as he grappled with the weight of his mistakes.
For the next week, Aemond found himself trapped in a suffocating cycle of self-pity and anger. He drowned his sorrows in alcohol, the bitter taste of whiskey doing little to numb the ache in his heart. With each passing day, his thoughts returned to Y.N, haunting him like a spectre of his own making.
In a desperate bid to win back her affections, Aemond bombarded Y.N with text messages, each one a testament to his remorse and undying love. He poured his heart out in words, apologizing for his mistakes, begging for her forgiveness, and declaring his unwavering devotion.
He even resorted to sending her poems, each verse a fragile echo of the love he felt for her. But no matter how eloquent his words or how heartfelt his pleas, Y.N remained silent, her silence a crushing reminder of his own failures.
As the days wore on, Aemond's desperation turned to frustration, then to bitterness. How could she ignore him like this? Didn't she understand how much he loved her; how much he needed her? She was pregnant with his child.
But deep down, he knew the truth. He had hurt her, betrayed her trust, and shattered her heart. And no amount of apologies or declarations of love could undo the damage he had done.
As Aemond made his way to the scan appointment, his heart weighed heavy with anticipation and anxiety. Each step felt like a journey through a minefield of emotions, his mind racing with thoughts of Y.N and the unborn child they shared.
Along the way, he passed by a quaint baby shop, its windows adorned with colourful displays of toys and trinkets. Aemond's gaze lingered on the storefront, a flicker of inspiration sparking within him.
Without hesitation, he pushed open the door and stepped inside, the chime of the bell overhead announcing his arrival. The air was filled with the soft hum of lullabies, and the shelves were lined with an array of adorable baby items.
Aemond's eyes scanned the shelves until they landed on a plush dragon teddy, its scales shimmering in the soft light.
With a sense of determination, Aemond reached out and picked up the stuffed toy, its soft fabric warm against his fingertips. In that moment, he knew that it was meant for their child, a symbol of hope and love in the midst of uncertainty.
As he made his way to the checkout counter, Aemond couldn't shake the feeling of excitement building within him. Despite the challenges they faced, despite the mistakes he had made, he was determined to be the best father he could be.
As Aemond stepped into the clinic, his heart pounded with nervous anticipation. The air was thick with the scent of antiseptic, and the sound of muffled voices echoed through the sterile corridors. With each passing moment, his anxiety grew, his mind racing with thoughts of Y.N and the precious life they had created together.
Finally, he reached the door to the ultrasound room, his hand trembling slightly as he pushed it open. And there, bathed in soft light, was Y.N.
For a moment, Aemond was struck speechless by her beauty, by the radiant glow that seemed to emanate from within her. She looked more beautiful than he had ever seen her.
"Y.N," he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper as he stepped forward to take her hand. "You look-you look amazing."
Y.N's smiled at his words, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Thank you, Aemond," she replied, her voice filled with warmth and affection. "I'm so glad you're here."
Aemond nodded breathlessly "I wouldn't miss this for the world," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
As Y.N lay on the examination table, her heart pounding with nervous anticipation, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as the midwife's hesitation hung heavy in the air. Her mind raced with a thousand worries, each one more terrifying than the last.
"Aemond," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear as she reached out for his hand. "What if-what if something's wrong?"
Aemond squeezed Y.N's hand reassuringly, his own heart racing with uncertainty. "Whatever it is, Y.N, we'll face it together," he vowed, his voice filled with unwavering determination. "I'll never leave your side."
But before Y.N could respond, the midwife's voice broke through the tense silence, her expression unreadable as she studied the monitor before her. For a moment, the room seemed to hold its breath, waiting for her next words.
And then, finally, the midwife spoke, her voice tinged with a mixture of surprise and excitement. "Y.N, Aemond-congratulations you're having twins."
Y.N's eyes widened in shock at the unexpected announcement, her heart soaring with a mixture of joy and disbelief. Twins? The thought seemed too incredible to be true.
But as she turned to look at Aemond, she was met with a sight that she never expected. His face as white as a sheet, then he dropped to the floor with a heavy thud.
"Aemond!" Y.N exclaimed, her panic rising as she reached out to shake him gently. "Aemond, wake up!"
With a groan, Aemond stirred, his eyelids fluttering open as he struggled to regain his senses. "What-what happened?" he mumbled, his voice slurred with confusion.
Y.N couldn't help but laugh through her tears at the sight of Aemond's dazed expression.
"We're having twins," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Aemond couldn't contain his excitement any longer. He reached into the small bag he carried, his hand wrapping around the plush dragon teddy he had purchased earlier.
"Y.N," he said, his voice trembling with emotion as he offered her the toy. "I, uh-I got this for the baby. Well, for one of them at least."
Y.N's eyes widened in surprise as she accepted the stuffed toy, her fingers brushing over its soft scales. "Aemond, it's beautiful," she murmured, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips.
Aemond couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, his own heart swelling with joy. "Yeah, but we might need another one," he added with a grin. "You know, since it's twins and all."
Y.N's eyes widened in shock at his words, her hand flying to her mouth in disbelief. "Twins?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder and excitement.
Aemond nodded, his heart overflowing with happiness. "Twins," he confirmed, his voice filled with pride.
Aemond couldn't contain his excitement as he led Y.N back to the baby shop. The air was alive with the sound of soft lullabies and the sight of colourful baby items lining the shelves.
Y.N's eyes lit up with wonder as she took in the array of adorable baby clothes, toys, and accessories. "Oh, Aemond, look at these tiny onesies!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with delight as she reached out to touch the soft fabric.
Aemond couldn't help but smile at her excitement, his heart swelling with love as he watched her browse the shelves. But as they wandered through the aisles, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of his stomach.
He noticed a woman watching him from across the room, her gaze lingering on him with a suggestive smile. Aemond's jaw clenched with irritation.
But the woman didn't take the hint. She sauntered over to Aemond, her eyes glinting with mischief as she leaned in close. "Hey there, handsome," she purred, her voice dripping with false sweetness.
Y.N's smile faltered as she caught sight of the woman, her heart sinking at the realization of what was happening. Aemond's expression darkened with anger, his grip on Y.N's hand tightening as he stepped in front of her.
"Listen, lady," he growled, his voice cold and steely. "I have a girlfriend, and I'm not interested. Now, if you'll excuse us-"
The woman's smile faltered as she caught the intensity in Aemond's gaze, her bravado crumbling in the face of his anger. With a muttered apology, she turned and hurried away, leaving Aemond and Y.N alone once more.
As the tension from the encounter with the woman in the shop eased, Aemond turned to Y.N, his heart heavy with regret. "I'm sorry about that he said, his voice tinged with remorse.
Y.N reached out and gently squeezed his hand, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "It's okay, Aemond," she reassured him, her eyes soft with understanding.
Aemond felt a rush of gratitude wash over him at her words, a sense of relief flooding through his veins. "Thank you," he murmured, his voice filled with sincerity.
But Y.N's smile faltered slightly as she met his gaze, her eyes searching his for a moment before she spoke. "You know, Aemond," she began hesitantly, "You're a handsome man. It's only natural that other women would be drawn to you."
Aemond's brow furrowed with confusion at her words, his mind spinning with uncertainty. "Y.N, I don't want other women," he said firmly, his voice laced with determination. "I want you."
Y.N's eyes widened in surprise at his confession, her heart skipping a beat at the intensity in his gaze. "Aemond-" she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
But Aemond wasn't finished. He reached out and gently cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs brushing away the tears that welled in her eyes. "You're the only one I want, Y.N," he murmured, his voice filled with love and devotion. "I love you, and I always will."
"You called me your girlfriend."
Aemond's cheeks flushed slightly at her remark, a sheepish smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Well, it's true," he admitted, his voice soft and sincere. "You're my everything."
Y.N's heart swelled with love at his words, her eyes shining with affection as she reached out to take his hand. "And you're mine," she whispered, her voice filled with tenderness.
As they walked out of the baby shop, Aemond couldn't shake the weight of guilt that still lingered in his heart. He knew he had to address what had happened with Alys, to make things right with Y.N and ensure that they moved forward together.
"Y.N," he began, his voice soft and apologetic, "I need to talk to you about what happened with Alys. I should have told her right away that we're together. I'm so sorry for not handling it properly."
Y.N's gaze softened as she listened to Aemond's words, her heart aching at the vulnerability in his voice. "Aemond, it's okay," she reassured him, her voice gentle but firm. "I understand that it was a difficult situation considring what she did to you”.
Aemond nodded, grateful for her understanding but still overwhelmed by his own remorse. "I know, but-I don't want to rush things. If you're not ready to come back to the apartment just yet, I understand," he offered, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
But before he could say another word, Y.N placed a finger on his lips, silencing him with a tender smile. "Aemond, I want to go home with you," she said softly, her eyes filled with love and determination. "Because wherever you are, that's where I belong."
“Y.N-“ whispered Aemond.
"But know this-" she said, her voice low and menacing. "-If you ever hurt me again, I won't hesitate to rip your balls off and make you eat them”.
Aemond's mouth went dry at the severity of her words, the weight of her threat settling heavily in his chest.
Aemond couldn't help but let out a nervous chuckle at Y.N's threat, though he knew she was dead serious. "You know, Y.N, I have to admit-there's something kind of hot about you when you're angry," he joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Y.N shot him a glare that could have melted steel, but a small smirk tugged at the corners of her lips despite her best efforts to stay mad. "Don't even try to charm your way out of this one, Aemond," she warned, her voice tinged with amusement. "You've got a lot of making up to do."
Aemond nodded solemnly, his expression contrite. "I know, I know. Starting with those cheesy omelettes I make, right?" he replied, a playful twinkle in his eye.
Y.N rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a small smile. "Yes, starting with the cheesy omelettes," she confirmed.
“Then after we can go to bed?"
Y.N's eyes widened in surprise at his suggestion, her cheeks flushing with colour. "Aemond, I-I don't know," she stammered, her voice betraying her uncertainty.
But Aemond pressed on, his gaze locked with hers, his heart laid bare. "I just want to hold you” he whispered; his voice filled with longing. "To feel close to you again”
Y.N's resolve wavered at his words, her heart softening at the vulnerability in his gaze. She knew that she shouldn't give in so easily, that Aemond still had a lot of making up to do. But she also couldn't deny the longing in her own heart, the desire to feel his touch once more.
With a small nod, she reached out and took his hand in hers, her eyes shining with unspoken affection. "Okay, Aemond-cheesy omelettes and then bed-for cuddles” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Cuddles-exactly” replied Aemond.
True to his word after he made Y.N as many cheesy omelette’s as she wanted, and when they went to bed he held her all night, even though his cock throbbed with need, he ignored it and for the first time in a week, he slept the whole night, the sweet scent of Y.N enveloping him like a blanket.
As Y.N's pregnancy progressed, Aemond was by her side every step of the way, his unwavering support a constant source of comfort and reassurance. But as the weeks turned into months, Y.N's pregnancy brought with it a new set of challenges, chief among them being her extreme morning sickness.
Aemond watched helplessly as Y.N struggled through each day, her face pale and drawn, her stomach churning with nausea. He did everything he could to ease her discomfort, fetching her glasses of water, preparing bland meals, and rubbing her back as she hunched over the toilet.
But no matter what he did, Y.N's morning sickness persisted, leaving her feeling weak and exhausted. Aemond couldn't bear to see her suffering, his heart breaking with each bout of nausea she endured.
"I'm so sorry, Y.N," he murmured, his voice laced with guilt as he gently brushed the hair away from her forehead. "I wish there was more I could do to help."
Y.N managed a weak smile, her eyes filled with gratitude as she reached out to squeeze his hand. "You're doing everything you can," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Y.N's pregnancy hormones wreaked havoc on her emotions, turning her mood swings into a rollercoaster ride that Aemond struggled to keep up with. One moment, she was seething with anger at him about Alys, the next, she was showering him with affection, craving his touch and pleading with him to take her to bed.
As the pregnancy progressed, Aemond had could only take her when she was laying on her side in bed, but he made sure she was comfortable and relaxed as he slowly thrust his cock into her.
Of course when it came to her milk swollen breasts, Aemond was more than happy to use them as pillows, he would regularly rest his face in between them and sigh with happiness.
Aemond did his best to navigate the turbulent waters of Y.N's emotions, offering her patience and understanding even when her temper flared. But it wasn't easy, and there were times when he found himself at a loss for how to comfort her.
Then, one day, as Y.N sat on the edge of their bed, tears streaming down her face, Aemond gathered her into his arms, holding her close as she sobbed uncontrollably.
"I love you so much, Aemond," Y.N whispered between sobs, her voice raw with emotion. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Aemond's heart swelled with tenderness as he listened to Y.N's confession, his own emotions swirling with a mixture of love and longing.
Wrapping his arms around her, Aemond pressed a gentle kiss to Y.N's forehead, his heart overflowing with love for the woman who held his heart in her hands.
"I love you too, Y.N," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
As the evening settled in, casting a soft golden glow over the room, Aemond found himself drawn to Y.N's side. With a tender smile, he settled himself beside her on the bed, his heart swelling with anticipation as he gazed down at her swollen stomach.
Gently, he rested his head against her belly, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath his cheek. Closing his eyes, he savoured the sensation, the rhythmic rise and fall of her breath soothing him like a lullaby.
And then, as if in response to his presence, Aemond felt a tiny flutter beneath his ear, followed by a series of gentle kicks against his cheek. His eyes flew open in wonder, his heart skipping a beat at the feeling of life stirring within Y.N's womb.
"They're kicking," Aemond murmured, his voice filled with awe and wonder. "Can you feel that Y.N?"
Y.N smiled down at him, her eyes shimmering with love and pride. "Yes," she whispered, her hand coming to rest on top of Aemond's head. "They must know their daddy's here."
Aemond's heart swelled with emotion at her words, his fingers tracing gentle circles over Y.N's stomach as he marvelled at the miracle of life growing inside her.
And as he lay there, with his head resting against Y.N's swollen belly, feeling the gentle movements of their unborn children beneath his fingertips, Aemond knew that this was where he belonged – here, with Y.N, and their growing family.
With his heart pounding in his chest and a nervous flutter in his stomach, Aemond took a deep breath and reached for Y.N's hand, his fingers intertwining with hers as he gazed into her eyes.
"Y.N," he began, his voice trembling with emotion. "There's something I've been wanting to ask you-"
Y.N's eyes widened in surprise, her heart skipping a beat as she realized what was happening. She could feel the weight of Aemond's words hanging in the air, filling the room with a sense of anticipation.
"Aemond, what is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes shining with hope and excitement.
Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Aemond drew in a steadying breath before continuing.
"Y.N, from the moment we met, you've been my rock, my constant source of strength and support. You've stood by me through everything, and I am endlessly grateful for your love and devotion."
Aemond's gaze never wavered as he spoke, his eyes filled with a fierce determination.
"I love you more than words can express, Y.N," he continued, his voice trembling with emotion. "And I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy. So, Y.N, will you marry me?"
The words hung in the air, charged with emotion as Y.N's heart swelled with love and joy. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked into Aemond's eye, seeing the depth of his love reflected back at her.
"Yes, Aemond," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "Yes, a thousand times yes."
I don't want to wait," he confessed, his voice filled with a sense of urgency.
Y.N's brow furrowed in confusion, but she could see the earnestness in Aemond's eyes, the depth of his desire to make her his wife before their children entered the world.
"Aemond, what do you mean?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"I mean I want to marry you, Y.N. I want you to be my wife before our babies are born," Aemond declared, his words coming out in a rush as he poured his heart out to her.
Y.N's eyes widened in surprise, her heart swelling with love at the depth of Aemond's devotion.
"But what about a ceremony?" she asked, her mind spinning with the implications of Aemond's proposal.
"We can have another ceremony after the babies are born, a big celebration with all our friends and family," Aemond suggested, his voice filled with excitement. "But right now, I just want you to be my wife, Y.N. I want us to be a family before our little ones arrive."
Tears welled up in Y.N's eyes as she looked into Aemond's eyes, seeing the love and sincerity shining bright within them.
"Okay, Aemond," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "Let's do it. Let's get married."
The morning sun cast a golden glow over the city as Aemond and Y.N made their way to the courthouse, their hearts aflutter with excitement and anticipation. Aemond's hand trembled slightly as he clasped Y.N's in his own, the weight of their decision settling over them like a warm embrace.
As they stepped inside the courthouse, they were greeted by Aegon, Daeron, and Helaena, who had all gathered to bear witness to their union. Aemond's heart swelled with gratitude at the sight of his family standing beside him, their support a comforting presence on this momentous day.
Y.N's eyes sparkled with joy as she took in the familiar faces of their loved ones, her heart filled with love and gratitude for the family she was about to officially become a part of.
Dressed in a long flowing cream dress that hugged her curves in all the right places, Y.N looked every bit the picture of elegance and grace. Her long dark hair was elegantly plaited, cascading down her back in a soft wave, and Aemond couldn't help but feel his breath catch in his throat at the sight of her beauty.
"You look stunning, Y.N," Aemond whispered, his voice filled with awe as he took her in his arms, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
Y.N's cheeks flushed with colour at his words, a radiant smile lighting up her face. "Thank you," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "I couldn't imagine spending this day with anyone else but you."
And as they stood hand in hand before the judge, their loved ones gathered around them, Aemond felt a sense of peace wash over him. In that moment, surrounded by the ones they loved most, he knew that he was exactly where he was meant to be.
As the judge pronounced them husband and wife, Aemond's heart swelled with joy and love, his hand tightening around Y.N's as they exchanged tender smiles. They were finally married, their vows spoken, and their love sealed for eternity.
But as they turned to face their loved ones, ready to celebrate their newfound union, Y.N's expression shifted, her hand flying to her swollen belly as a look of shock crossed her face.
"Aemond-my water just broke," she gasped, her voice tinged with disbelief.
A hush fell over the room as everyone turned to look at Y.N, their expressions a mixture of concern and excitement. Aemond's heart pounded in his chest as he realized what was happening – their babies were coming, and they were coming now.
"Are you okay, Y.N?" Aemond asked, his voice filled with concern as he gently guided her to a nearby chair.
Y.N nodded, her face pale but determined. "I'm okay, Aemond," she replied, her voice steady despite the chaos unfolding around them. "But we need to get to the hospital”.
Without a moment's hesitation, Aemond sprang into action, rallying their family to help them make their way to the hospital. Amidst the flurry of activity, he couldn't help but feel a sense of disbelief at the timing of it all – their wedding day turning into the day they would become parents.
"We're going to be okay, Y.N," he whispered, his voice filled with determination as they sped towards the hospital. "We're in this together, now and always."
With adrenaline coursing through his veins, Aemond manoeuvred the car through the bustling streets, his focus unwavering as he raced towards the hospital. Beside him, Y.N's grip on his hand was tight, her face contorted with pain as she fought through each contraction.
"We're almost there, Y.N," Aemond reassured her, his voice steady despite the urgency of the situation. "Just hold on a little longer."
Minutes stretched into eternity as they finally arrived at the hospital, the medical staff rushing to Y.N's side as they whisked her away to the delivery room.
Y.N's grip tightened around his hand as another contraction swept through her, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps. Aemond could see the pain etched on her face, the strain of labour taking its toll on her body.
"You're doing great, Y.N," he murmured, his voice filled with love and admiration. "Just a little while longer, and we'll get to meet our babies."
Y.N managed a weak smile at his words, her eyes shining with tears. "I can't do this" she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Aemond's heart clenched at her words, his own eye filling with tears. "Yes, you can, Mrs Targaryen" he replied, his voice choked with emotion.
As the hours passed, Aemond never left Y.N's side, offering words of encouragement and support as she laboured bravely through each contraction. And when the moment finally arrived, when their babies entered the world with cries of new life, Aemond felt a rush of overwhelming joy and gratitude wash over him.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Targaryen," she announced, her voice filled with warmth. "You have a beautiful boy and girl."
Aemond's heart soared with joy at the news, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes as he followed the nurse into the delivery room. And there, cradled in Y.N's arms, were their precious babies – a boy and a girl, their tiny fingers curled around each other in a silent embrace.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Aemond sank to his knees beside Y.N's bedside, his hands trembling as he reached out to touch their newborns for the first time.
"They're beautiful, Y.N," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
As Aemond cradled his newborn son and daughter in his arms, he couldn't help but marvel at their striking resemblance to him. Their delicate features mirrored his own, from their tufts of blonde hair to the shape of their noses.
"They look just like you, Aemond," Y.N whispered, her voice filled with awe as she gazed down at their precious babies.
Aemond's heart swelled with pride at the sight of his newborn son and daughter, their tiny faces a reflection of his own. He gently brushed his fingers over their soft cheeks, marvelling at the miracle of their existence.
"They're perfect," he murmured, his voice tinged with emotion as he looked up at Y.N.
With a smile, Y.N reached out to stroke her son’s cheek, her heart overflowing with love for her husband and their beautiful children. "And what should we name them?" she asked, her eyes shining with anticipation.
Aemond's gaze softened as he looked down at their newborn son, his heart filled with love and pride. "Naethan," he said, his voice filled with certainty.
"And our daughter?" Y.N prompted, her eyes shining with excitement.
Aemond's smile widened as he looked down at their tiny daughter. "Naerys," he said, his voice filled with reverence.
As the news of the twins' arrival spread, excitement rippled through the hospital corridors, drawing Aegon, Helaena, and Daeron like moths to a flame. Bursting into the room, their faces lit up with joy as they caught sight of the newborns cradled in Aemond and Y.N's arms.
"Oh, they're beautiful!" Helaena exclaimed, her eyes shining with tears as she moved closer to get a better look.
Daeron nodded in agreement, a proud smile spreading across his face. "Congratulations, Aemond, Y.N. They're absolutely perfect."
Aegon, ever the joker, couldn't resist adding his own comment as he peered down at the tiny bundles of joy. "At least Aemond didn't faint this time," he quipped, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
Y.N chuckled at Aegon's remark, her heart light with laughter despite the exhaustion that weighed heavily upon her. "Yes, thankfully he managed to stay upright this time," she replied, her voice tinged with amusement.
Aemond rolled his eyes good-naturedly at his brother's teasing, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I'll have you know, I was perfectly composed" he said, his voice filled with mock indignation.
“Until next time” laughed Aegon.
“N-Net time?” questioned Aemond as he looked over at Y.N who smiled sleepily.
As Y.N stepped out of the bathroom, the warm steam of the bath still clinging to her skin, she couldn't help but smile at the sight that greeted her in the bedroom. There, sitting on the bed, was Aemond, shirtless, with Naerys and Naethan nestled against his chest, their tiny bodies rising and falling with the rhythm of his breath.
Her heart swelled with love at the sight, her breath catching in her throat as she watched her husband cradle their newborn twins with such tenderness and care. In that moment, she felt a surge of gratitude for the man who had become the father of her children, his love for them shining bright in every touch and every glance.
Aemond looked up as Y.N entered the room, a warm smile spreading across his face at the sight of her. "Hey," he whispered, his voice soft so as not to disturb their slumbering babies. "They finally fell asleep."
Y.N moved closer, her heart overflowing with love as she settled herself beside Aemond on the bed. Gently, she reached out to brush her fingers over Naerys' soft hair, marveling at the delicate features of their daughter.
"They're so beautiful, Aemond," she whispered, her voice filled with wonder. "Just like their father."
Aemond's cheeks flushed with colour at her words, his heart swelling with pride at the sight of his sleeping children. "I couldn't have asked for a better life than this," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
“Me either” replied Y.N
Aemond's eyes twinkled mischievously as he glanced over at Y.N, a playful grin spreading across his lips. "So you’re glad that I offered my sperm then?" he teased, his tone light and playful.
Y.N couldn't help but laugh at his remark, her heart swelling with affection for the man who never failed to bring joy and laughter into their lives. "I suppose I am," she replied, her voice filled with amusement.
As the months passed, Naethan and Naerys grew happy and healthy under the loving care of Aemond and Y.N. Their home was filled with laughter and joy as the twins reached each new milestone, their bond as siblings growing stronger with each passing day.
And then, one evening as they sat together in the cozy living room, Y.N took Aemond's hand in hers, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Aemond, I have something to tell you," she said, her voice filled with anticipation.
Aemond looked at her curiously, his heart skipping a beat at the sight of her radiant smile. "What is it, Y.N?" he asked, his voice tinged with excitement.
Y.N took a deep breath, her eyes sparkling with joy as she spoke. "I'm pregnant again," she announced, her voice filled with wonder.
Aemond's eyes widened in surprise, his heart swelling with happiness at the news. "Really?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
And as they shared a tender embrace, surrounded by the love of their growing family, Aemond knew that their home would soon be filled with even more laughter and joy, as they welcomed their newest addition into the world.
Aemond and Y.N's family continued to grow, filled with love and laughter when Y.N gave birth to their third child, a son they named Aelor.
Two years later, they welcomed another daughter, Saella, into their family, her arrival greeted with the same love and excitement as her siblings. With four children, they felt their family was complete, their hearts full to bursting with the love they shared.
But fate had other plans in store for them, and one evening, as they sat together in the warm glow of their living room, Y.N felt a familiar flutter in her belly, a feeling she hadn't experienced in years.
"Aemond," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think I might be pregnant again."
Aemond's eye widened in surprise, his heart skipping a beat at the news. "Another one?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief. "But how?"
Y.N shrugged, a playful glint in her eye. "Blame it on the alcohol," she joked, a smile playing at the corners of her lips.
And so, nine months later, they welcomed their fifth child, another daughter they named Valaena, into their family, her arrival taking them completely by surprise. But as they gazed down at her tiny face an exact replica of her mother, their hearts overflowing with love, they knew that their family was complete, their home filled with the love and laughter of their five precious children.

Blackwater XX
Warnings/AN: I should apologize for the drama but its my trademark at this point, I'll just say that there's a flashback and a couple of references to previous chapters. As soon as possible I'll create a masterlist dedicated to the series, because I have contents that I want to add since we are at the end. Lemme know if someone wants a tag there too~
Trouble ahead.
He showed up unexpectedly, grumbling about the mud that had gotten on his expensive shoes, the usual penguin-like gait and Jimmy rolled his eyes, waiting for him to finally reach them because they couldn't have continued at all if he was around. And it had nothing to do with a tactical move to hide plan from the enemy, it was simply impossible to ignore or avoid Paul Heyman and if once Jimmy would have laughed, now Paul was just annoying and the expression on Jey's face proved it.
- "Nice place, in your style" – he commented, without greeting or trying to pretend too much – "reminds me the days I used to come visit your dad, both of you were three, four maybe" – and Jimmy folded his arms.
Sure, their style wasn't their cousin's luxury stuff, the one Paul had accustomed him to. At that moment he was probably having breakfast in a restaurant downtown or a sauna to cool down his muscles, but he too had cut his teeth at the garage near Oak Wood Hills. Jimmy still remembered the afternoons spent there after school to see the red Jeep Cherokee that Roman had become obsessed with, he bought the damn car as soon as Uncle Sika came back from one of his trips and now instead he drove around in black businessman's SUVs and looking after the community with checks he couldn't spend on himself.
- "Did you get lost Og? Want me to call your daddy so he can pick you up?" – he asked and Paul must have had colic judging by his reaction.
- "No. Im here to talk."
- "Wow really?! Mind-blowing!"
The colic became a reproachful look at his sarcasm, but still Jimmy was not impressed and when Jey decided to come closer to support him, Paul wisely quit, once again showing off the best acting skills to save his ass.
- "Even though I remember what was said at the meeting, Im here with good intentions. Of course, it hurt me if I have to tell the truth, I don't understand where the aversion against me comes from... but despite this I couldn't refuse in my heart to help" – he began and Jimmy blinked confused.
- "Have you had a heart transplant?" – he urged, matching his attitude.
Paul didn't take that joke well either, but he had nothing to complain about, everyone knew how things were. The wiseman didn't help anyone if he didn't have something back, goodness was not among his qualities and it was impossible he had found some of it within himself now that he was personally involved. His feelings worked on command, according to occasion and business.
- "He thinks I'm dumb ass" – Jey said out of nowhere, staring at him.
He had crossed the edge since the boys' were dragged into the family mess and now his goal was just putting an end to it all. For him that war was an unbearable burden, Jimmy knew how he was, he knew Jey just wanted to start over, have some peace and he didn't like Paul's fake visit because it also added provocation to his worries. He would probably have put up with Roman, but not Paul, Paul wasn't family to him and those turns of phrase were making him nervous.
He heard the wiseman noises, trying to stay in control even though Jey's gaze didn’t help his attempts.
- "What? No, of course not, I’d never think bad about you! The Tribal Chief had chosen you as his right-hand man, a fool would not have had such an honor or right to speak in family business."
He thinks we're both dumb.
That stunt pushed Jimmy to clench his fists in annoyance, but didn't have time to silence Paul because his brother really didn't seem in the mood that day and had come forward again.
- "I had no right. He take all the decisions, with you, from day one."
He hadn't been around when that deal or alliance or whatever it was between him and Roman had come about, he'd been forced away from home for months, but Jey was there and kept him updated on everything. They had kept him on the sidelines of the family business from the beginning and the right-hand man title with their tricks had become a joke they made real when it suited them. Jey had taken it seriously despite everything, he had committed to the vision and tried, but it only make him run everywhere and get beaten. When Jimmy came back everything was already done and things had even gotten worse after.
- "Jey…" - he heard Paul negotiating trying to slow things down, realizing maybe that his sweet words were no longer having the planned effect - "when you're at the top you often find yourself in unpleasant situations, it's not for everyone, you're starting to understand it too how it is bearing the weight of that position. At the meeting you made some choices... let's say questionable ones... listening an advice would have been right for you if I may, to judge pros and cons. I'm here to offer you a second chance, I care about you even if you don’t care about the wiseman."
Jimmy hadn't expected his brother to discuss those terms in front of the elders, it had been strange and even he had been amazed, because Jey hadn't talked to him first about anything. But whatever plan he had if he had one, leaving a door open for Solo and even Y/N, Jey didn't need any second chances, especially not thanks to Paul. Jimmy was there to cover his back and it would always be like this, he didn't need counselors and dogs licking his feet to sleep better at night.
I can handle him.
His offer echoed through the link, but Jey didn't answer.
- "I know you're angry now and maybe it won't seem that way, but all this will help you, trust me it can be good for you, it's part of your journey to take the place of the Tribal Chief one day" – he persisted and Jimmy decided to step forward, ready to send him back to where he came from with good ass kick.
- "Imma take his place next week" – Jey stopped him, voice far too calm.
The day. It was just a week away. At the dawn after the harvest moon things would no longer be the same. Jimmy had been hoping for a change for years now, in the last few months he had chased it like a breath of air, now that was so close it was an almost surreal feeling, but Jey already seemed in control and ready.
- "It could happen... of course..." - Paul hesitated, avoiding answering to Jey push - "its essential, however, that the family is preserved and all of this, lemme tell you, is a dangerous gamble now. The elders have agreed to restore order, but we're all worried about what will happen next, them, me, your parents, even Y/N... poor girl, she can't rest knowing what’s going on and what could come" - he tried, pulling out an apologetic face that he could have avoid considering what relationship he had with Y/N.
- "None of them should be. The only one who needs to worry is you, because when I'm done, you'd better be far away. Bring back your advice, speeches and ass to my cousin, Og, don’t make say it twice" – Jey quickly silenced him though, stopping his tantrum by placing a hand on his shoulder.
Jimmy watched him stiffen as if someone had growled at him, face pale and shaken, his gaze going from Jey's fingers to eyes, which had been fixed on him from the moment he showed up. The realization of failure hit him right in front of them, a mixture of affront, anxiety and worry that Jimmy watched Paul shake off in the same way as Jey's hand, scrambling a few steps back to make room between them. He nodded to who knows who, body shaking as he sorted out his expensive clothes and pride.
The harvest moon was near, so their mother said. That year it was time to reap what they had sown.

Devil's Point, that's what the sign they passed on the way said and it really must have been one of devil’s tricks, because Y/N felt her stomach flipped. Or maybe wasn't the devil, maybe it was just another perfect date, pleasant anxiety, wine and fresh air caressing her warm face, sun slowly sinking beyond the strip of sand and trees, setting the sky on fire. Maybe the devil was Roman, with his gentleman manner, so confident, constantly eyeing her, always attentive, his low velvet voice. The bond had always been there, in her veins, in her bones. An invisible impulse born with them, as their lives went on and years passed, omnipresent, indissoluble, inevitable despite miles and obstacles. And more Y/N lingered in that trap easier it seemed to fall, normal deserving the life she hadn't had, a security she didn't know and now all around her, emanating from Roman.
Where has he been all this time? We were alone…
- "Have you ever looked for me?" – she asked out of nowhere, putting the dessert away.
A chocolate cake, because it was her favorite and he worked hard to please her, learning quickly and put into practice even the most insignificant details.
Roman looked surprised at the change of subject, putting down his glass.
- "Have you ever looked for me before that evening, when you found me at the camping?" – she asked again, feeling anxiety suddenly hit even though it had been her idea to investigate, happiness quickly dissolve into doubts.
Y/N didn't even know why she asked. It was an uncomfortable question, the search for a mate was a now past custom, too low probabilities and a world where alternatives had now become norm. It was stupid to expect something and unnecessarily provocative, what's more in their case, after all the first few months problems, it sounded a bit like an accusation or an attempt to ruin plans. Roman however didn't lose his composure and she saw him take a deep breath, brow furrowed as he remembered.
- "Years ago. When I finished college, did it for a while, then stopped."
- "Why?"
He looked at her in silence, but he didn't seem angry or bothered.
She needed to hear it, to know.
- "… had become frustrating. I needed to focus on what I could accomplish."
So real. So true.
Few could say they were lucky enough to find their other half. Rare cases, exceptions. Was it sad to meet someone, choose them and fit in? No, most people out there did it like that, she herself had witnessed it with her parents before the horror, but sometimes people couldn't even find someone, sometimes they were not chosen or stopped wanting each other and then yes, it became sad. For Y/N having someone in her life had never been an aspiration, a dream to cherish when night became too cold or silence too heavy. Getting attached was a risk, risks were dangerous and in her case, as an omega, alone and without a family or a community, it was better to avoid rather than defend. She had to be smart, loneliness had kept her alive, had kept her going, was the possibility of filling the void that scared Y/N. It scared her to get used to someone and lose everything again. She knew what Roman was talking about, a perpetual aftertaste on her lips when she moved away from a place and now she was founding out that she had never really been alone. She had always had a chance, someone waiting for her, ready to fill that void that for Y/N had become like an old illness she lived with.
Roman had been looking for her, among so many people, even if only for a while he really had and it was… so reassuring.
- "You didn't" – she heard him reflect, moving closer to put his jacket on her shoulders.
There was knowledge in his voice, a heavy bitterness, as if he didn't need to hear Y/N say it. She watched him take another sip of wine to warm himself or perhaps wash away the taste of that thought, enduring the cool evening for her.
- "I did it once… just once" – she admitted, surprising him and even herself.
She had never thought about that day before, but memory had hit her soon through her she-wolf, perhaps to console him. She didn’t like that look on his face, he was better all cocky and flirting.
- "I have been in foster care for couple of years after I lost my parents. I went from one house to another, it didn't work and I really didn't want to stay. There was a brunette white girl in one of the families, she didn't like me, talking behind my back all the time... I told her I’d find you and make her regret it" – she said, shaking her head at the thought of that childish menace.
Y/N didn't remember the reason for their fight, it could have been anything, she was an unbearable girl herself at the time, but she knew how she had felt. It was vivid in her memory. That sense of not belonging, absolute loneliness, anger, so much anger at the idea of being and being able to be just a stray in the future. The world is too big a place when life decides to give its worst lessons. Y/N had always grown up quickly, she had always learned running, what to be without roots, what to do if there is no one waiting.
- "We can pay her a visit" – Roman proposed casually and Y/N stared at him, because of all the things he could have said, she hadn't expected that.
No pitying comments, no words of comfort or judgement, just a blind complicit willingness to indulge her past madness.
- "Mmh I'm tempted" – she giggled softly.
- "What happened?" – heard him ask and pointed to her arm, where there was a scar similar to the one he had.
- "I stole her dad’s car and destroyed their fence" - she said, making him frown.
She had gotten into that pick-up without knowing how to drive or what to do, it didn’t end well, they caught her immediately and in hurry she had taken everything and everyone down. One of the poles around property had broken the pick-up window and the wire wrapped around it had threatened to blow her arm off, it was a miracle she hadn't fainted there. One of the biggest dumb act of her life and at the same time another lesson, proving Y/N she shouldn't be carried away by her omega impulses, it didn't bring anything good.
- "I stayed in town for a while I think, then left without looking back. I have no idea what happened to the pick-up or her. I didn't find you though... it was enough for me."
Admitting it, thinking about it, made her feel vulnerable. She didn't like that feeling. That attempt had been a failure from the start, chances of meeting him simply by walking a few miles, going to any city, any street, had been zero and even if he had been there, messed up as she was by pain, Y/N wouldn't even know she had found him. She had been stupid, irresponsible, mindless but realizing when it got dark she was still hopelessly alone had been worse.
She shrugged, picking up the dessert to distract and control herself.
It was over now.
- "We'll make things right, you have my word. It will be enough to be together, there's no need to think about it" – she heard Roman assure, once again without excuses or pity, firm in his intentions – "no more car rides though"– he added with a reproachful look that made her smile.
No, there was no need to think about the past. Everything had already changed and Y/N had learned her lesson, but maybe it was time to learn something else, trying not to run away this time. It seemed easy at the time and yes it really all came down to being enough for each other, filling the void with their bond.
For days Roman's routine had always been the same, calculated to the second, with no margin for error or change. He woke up before dawn, shower, breakfast and run, spend the morning in the gym, then lunch and gym again until dinner time, after which he lock himself in the office taking care of the documents Paul brought or business that required his supervision, and then join her in bed when it was already late night and repeat everything the next day. He was locked in a bubble, focused on a single goal, counting minutes, preparing in advance for whatever would or could happen. An absolute, maniacal dedication that Y/N somehow admired. It made her proud to see that he was capable of so much and yet it also made her sad.
Because in the wild run of that family war, she was just a spectator. She repeated to herself that she had to be patient, be understanding, that she had to put aside anxieties and bad moods to support him as better as she could, but it weighed on her. She did whatever not to show it, not to think about it, and despite her efforts Y/N felt everything around her emptying and cooling, her sacrifices devalued and even ignored. They almost didn’t speak to each other anymore and certainly not about what they should have because there was no time for doing it, they didn’t spend together and when that happened he was focused on something else, Y/N had the feeling of having gone back to the days when they were two strangers, two separate worlds united by a thin wire.
She didn't want that, they weren't like that, they had both worked hard to make things work, succeeding, they had truly found themselves at the end. The idea they were affecting their relationship, the possibility to distance themselves so bad to spend a life like that, wasn't something Y/N could bear. They had overcome differences, they shouldn't have burned everything because they didn't see things the same way in war where their relationship was not in play. They just had to meet once again and remember. He had taught her that and Y/N hadn't believed him for a long time, but they really needed their bond.
On the now empty table on the patio, she opened the floor plan of her old house, the one she had had to leave and Roman had given her back. It was nothing compared to what she had now, but it could become something, maybe just for them, a place where nothing and no one could disturb them.
***
Day after day his body pushed further and further, urged by pressure, focused on a single goal from which Roman couldn’t look away. He couldn't afford any mistakes with Jey, Roman knew he could beat him and he would, but his cousin knew him better than any other out there. They were certainly on two different levels, however Roman couldn't allow him to prove anything if he wanted to regain the absolute control that the elders had questioned due to too many mistakes in those months. And it was for these reasons that getting out of his head, stopping and having those breaks had become an annoying obligation that he fulfilled in the shortest time and avoiding any extra thoughts. Lose focus was a weakness, give ground an advantage, something he couldn't tolerate.
When he closed the door behind him, the house was silent as if he were the only one around. It had been like this for a long time, but time had passed. Now it wasn’t empty, Y/N was there and not finding her in the living room as had been the case for days forced him to follow her trail to the outside. He expected to find her busy, but not to see her with all those papers on the table.
Why is she looking at them? Why she got that floor plan again?! Stop her. Now.
- "What are you doing?" – he asked, voice heavy and she immediately raised her head with a weak smile, one that she could have addressed to anyone, not to him.
- "Nothing, I was waiting for you. Is it already time for your break?"
If it was an attempt to push away the conversation or pretend, it didn't work. He knew those documents, he had signed them and he had been clear telling her not to get any strange ideas about her family's old house, and yet she was there looking at them page by page at a moment like this.
- "I asked you what you think you are doing Y/N" – he repeated seriously, convincing her to put them down.
- "I was keeping myself busy while I waited for you to finish. I answered."
He saw Y/N keep her gaze on him, head held high, back straight, but Roman still sensed what was behind, tension, heavy air. It was since he said he would no longer have regrets that Roman had seen her react like this and in the last few days the atmosphere had gotten even worse. She didn't comment, didn't ask, she stopped trying to argue, she was good at not showing it, but his wolf could sense it when he lay down next to her at night, saw the way she looked at him. It wasn't a good idea for her to punish his cousins despite what they had done to him, she couldn't stand the prospect of a fight, she had promised to stand by his side no matter what and after a year she still rejected his mark when she shouldn't have even had to choose whether to have it or not, now she also took out the floor plan of her old house even though he had given her another one, one for them, better.
We told her not to act like this, she doesn't need that house. We did everything, we gave everything to her.
He had spent the last year dedicating himself to their bond, proving time and time again that he was worthy, that he would be a good mate for her, he was doing so even facing his own family. Shielding their future family even before their bloodline was born. Jey e Jimmy had ruined his plans, it wasn’t his fault, he was risking everything for what they would have built together, for their future. He had proven who he was, Y/N had to know, no one before him had ever achieved so much, no one would ever bear such a burden, there was no alpha out there on his level able to take care of her and anyone else. She couldn't think about them again, she couldn’t doubt, it was crazy!
- "What Im doing is to keep everything for us, protect what we have" – he explained to her for the umpteenth time, seeing Y/N stop that attempt of a smile understanding what direction their conversation was taking, as he approached the table.
He didn't like losing his temper with her, he didn't want to, but Y/N had a fastlane to pushing him in any situation and that was definitely the wrong one. Why she was throwing it in his face? At home, while he spent the days preparing to end the mess out there and start again together?!
- "You say it all the time, I know."
Her and her mouth…
- "Because that's the only thing that matters, not sitting here fantasizing about alternatives."
- "Ain't fantasizing about anything. You're so focused that we don't spend more than ten minutes together, I thought we could have a break for a bit, do something together when it's all over... but I guess it's a no if you react like that."
No, she couldn't blame him. This mess wasn't his fault, he was fixing it, it wasn't on him!
- "I don't have time to plan these things, not when I have all the work to do and problems keep piling up! I told you this too. You should have get it by now what has priority and instead we are here discussing because you keep putting these ideas in your head!"
- "My apologies, my Tribal Chief, is that good?" – he heard her reply, mocking him and he froze.
He looked at her angrily, as if they were back to the days when she couldn't stand him and he was always on the verge of exploding. He looked at her out of his mind, mouth twitching, but she wasn't even giving him attention, too busy keeping her eyes somewhere other than him, in an act of submission that was more a provocation than an apology. He ran a hand over his beard, clenching his jaw, but it was just too much and he lowered himself, leaning on the table to tower over her. Her scent, so familiar, usually so comforting, immediately filled his lungs, a regenerating peace that clashed with their fatigue and that Roman felt once more from Y/N, her body stiffening as soon as his breath hit her cheek.
He was the Tribal Chief and would remain so until God woke him up again. People out there could have planned trials, clashes, attacks, anything, nothing would have changed. But she was different, she was not one of those folks. Y/N might not have his mark, she might claim every freedom she wanted, Roman would put up with it to please her, to make her happy, because she deserved it, but still didn't change anything. They wouldn't go back to those hellish days where they were nothing.
- "I'm more than that to you" – he reminded, seeing her nod.
- "I know" – she replied immediately, finally turning around.
Her eyes, dark as the water of the river that ran through Roman’s land, almost seemed to suck him in. Two sharp chasms where he had looked for her for months, until found her huddled at the bottom waiting for him. Roman had dragged her out of there, he had given her everything, all of himself and he would do it again every day, without holding back or thinking about it and that was exactly why he was acting like that. If it wasn't for him, she would still be there, alone and with no future.
- "Make that stuff disappear before I do it" – he ordered, straightening up.
Y/N didn't move, her eyes still on him, as Roman decided he'd had enough of that pause, walking away. Her reaction reached him through the bond, when he crossed the threshold to go back inside: a mixture of anger, pain and sadness.
It hurts.
It hit him like a wave, alarming his wolf despite the fight, but it disappeared just as quickly, as if Y/N had wiped it away and Roman took a second to look at her through the windows, check, while she gathered everything on the table, head down and in silence.
He had to focus on what needed to be done. Distractions were just more problems.
We’re doing it for everyone. She will understand soon.
***
She had put everything back in his office, locking the desk drawer almost throwing away the key.
Why is he acting like this? What did we do wrong?
Her she-wolf felt confused, hurt and so was Y/N, with a good amount of anger on top of that. She was trying with all of herself, she was doing everything every day to make things work, to not disappoint him, to be up to the task, to not miss the opportunity for a good life. She had learned to ignore what didn't require a reaction, to be understanding when with anyone else would have freaked out, she was trying to be a better version of herself for her sake and for Roman. Was it such a bad idea? She knew Roman was fighting for their place, for his packland, but she hadn't suggested to leave everything and disappear, she would never have done it because she knew what it meant, she just thought they might have a safe space somewhere else... in a future less sad and complicated. That house was important to Y/N, she wanted to do her part, help, give back doing something like Roman had done with the house they lived in now, share.
It's already his though.
His property... that's why he snapped?
Roman had considered it a waste of time, a fantasy to be put away... after all, why he should pay attention to something no one wanted to take away at that moment? something far from his family war, from the packland. It already belonged to him, her she-wolf was right to justify him, Y/N had pushed him first, there was nothing to share or fix there and Jimmy's words came back to her mind. She had thought about doing something for them and instead she had really wasted time.
“The house… you bought it to give her nowhere to run away from you.”
It was a gift. For us.
Roman had said so and Y/N had felt so special. But it had his name on it, everything, every sheet of paper.
He wanted to make us happy. The best for us.
“I don't want you to go there, okay? This is your place now, it's your home and you have to stay here. But one day maybe we can fix it and go together.”
One day. Maybe…
Together.
Maybe? now the memory sounded like a dad tricking his daughter into not throwing a tantrum.
Smell of aftershave mixed with something familiar distracted Y/N, reminding her that she was still in the office and she turned to stare at the door just before seeing Paul arrive with a folder of documents in his arms.
- "Y/N! I thought you were out for one of your runs" – he said after a second too long, tone surprised and suspicious, as he looked at her standing there –"… you alright? "
No one was allowed to go upstairs unless it was necessary, but business those days seemed a matter of life and death, so it was hardly surprising. The last safe place for her would have been the bathroom.
- "You seem a bit…"
- "Take comments for yourself, there's no point in having a conversation" – she said, moving away from the desk with the intention of disappearing, but Paul wouldn't have been Paul if he hadn't decided to ruin her day already messed up.
- "Of course not, but I think you’ll want to know I went to talk with the twins. Didn’t go as hoped. Jey… he doesn't listen" – he admitted with disappointment, taking her place to add more documents to those already placed everywhere and Y/N finally recognized what that other scent on him was.
- "He doesn't like you, it was pretty obvious."
The idea of talking sense to Jey had been stupid. Maybe Jimmy could have been a possibility even if he was the one who started shit, he would have talked to a wall regardless of his sympathies, but Jey? No, Jey wasn't made for those things and both him and Y/N shared the same opinion of Paul. Sure he had had more time to learn to tolerate the so called wiseman, but Y/N had known from the very first moment he wouldn't accept any proposal Paul was going to make him.
- "You do though. He allowed Solo and you to stay if… well you know – he threw it there with such nonchalance, but she wasn't willing to tolerate, it was the wrong day – "he’s attached to you, he think about you as someone to protect."
What is he trying to say?!
- "What I know is that they shouldn't fight and that you Paul, said you would make sure to avoid it."
The brilliant idea of saving her during the meeting a few days before had taken Y/N by surprise too, there was no agreement or plan behind it, she didn't even know why at that moment, with everything that was happening, Jey had decided to expose himself for her. She was almost absolutely certain it wasn't something normal in situations like the one they were in, she was Roman's mate and Jey was threatening to take everything away from him after all, but whatever was the reason it didn't matter because it wasn't what they needed to focus on, especially not Paul.
- "I fear that stopping everything is no longer an option, we don’t have time, they have sworn in front of the family now. Neither of them can back out" – heard him say with a funeral face that didn’t inspire pity in her.
- "So that ridicolous meeting was the point of no return?!" – she snapped and he choked, hands reaching out in an attempt to stop her when Y/N nerves were undergoing yet another stress test.
She respected Roman's family, she respected their traditions, but it was unthinkable to Y/N that a handshake was an unbreakable pact, not when both sides were risking everything and whoever was supposed to advise them, stop them, watched or made things worse. She couldn't, it was something she couldn’t understand. They were a family, they had to act like a family, not fighting.
- "I wouldn't talk like that, let's try to breath now okay? Think about it. There are other ways to swing things in our favor, I'm already working on something. An idea in the right ears works wonders."
- "You're working on something" – she repeated, feeling blood go straight to her head.
Yep, sure, after all they had time to act with calm, there was a week to go and everything was already a disaster, but who cared? They could also sit, chat, think and judge who remained to be sacrificed so they could sip a drink under the patio when their bright future would be on hand.
- "I know, I understand your concern, but if you decided to be more cooperative it would help a lot and speed things up. The twins are stubborn, but Jey making all these decisions on his own could work to our advantage if we prove that he isn't capable of"- he tried, but it wasn't the right day for her to listen his sneaky little games.
- "I won't help you making anyone believe anything. You are the wiseman, be the wiseman, find a way, just do it" – she silenced him, leaving the office without waiting an answer.
She wanted that fight, everything to end once and for all, she wanted to go back to months ago when Y/N had thought she could have everything missing in her life, she wanted a family, Roman to annoy her with his daily nonsense instead of dramas to survive and manipulations on a daily basis. She was tired and for the first time since the beginning even if she tried hard… she couldn't see the end.
Breath. Calm down. Don’t lose control, we can’t allow it. Breath.

Right, left, right, left, right, left again. The punching bag was easy to predict every time Roman hit it, Jey wouldn't follow those times when they would have been face to face. At some point he would shift, it was the only way he had to really bring Roman down. As both man and wolf, Roman was bigger than his cousin, bruises and broken bones wouldn't keep him down once they were out there, Jey would have to do more and to do so he would have no choice. He was fast, he would aim for multiple points, targeting him, Roman only needed one, the right one, like with the punching bag.
When he hit it seriously, the chain holding it up gave way, sending it down and putting Roman face to face with Solo, standing silently there, even though he hadn't asked to see him.
- "What's up?" – he asked, catching his breath and kicking the punching bag away.
- "He was talking to Y/N upstairs" – Solo said, without mincing words and Roman stopped, staring at him, his sweaty brow furrowed in an attempt to understand.
Y/N couldn't stand the wiseman. She had never liked him, from the first day, it had taken months to convince her to not growl when he approached and now they were talking? Alone upstairs, while he was there training?
- "About what?" – Roman asked, but Solo shrugged his shoulders in a heavy silence Roman had to accept, hiding his annoyance with a grimace.
First in his land. Then in his family. Now in his house. No… not that time.

You got anymore Milkplane and Milkbread hcs?
Since you asked for both, I'm going to answer this with my polycule headcanons:
- So if you've read my other Milkbread hcs, you already know my backstory for them. Years after that, Francis moved to the apartment where he met Steven, who recently moved in with his dad.
- After a while of getting to know each other, Francis and Steven both caught feelings, but before either of them could come to terms with it (which is especially hard for Francis, since he never had romantic feelings for another man before), Nacha moved in and thus began the Milkbread Arc (tm).
- Francis at this moment is especially confused since he realised he has feelings for *both* Nacha and Steven and didn't know what to do and felt guilty about it.
- Both Nacha and Steven are aware of this weird situation. I'm not entirely sure how but after a while I think all of them finally sat down and come clean about the whole thing. Francis confesses that he's in love with both of them and surprisingly enough both Nacha and Steven are okay with this. Boom polycule formed.
- Whenever Francis and Nacha go on dates together, they leave Anastacha with Steven. Steven really likes Ana and treats her like a little sister/niece and basically acts like the cool uncle.
- (Ana still doesn't fully understand the whole polyamory thing but as long as her mom is okay with it it's whatever. Also, at least she got a cool uncle/older brother out of this)
- Francis: Enough with the milkman jokes and stereotypes already its not funny. I'm not interested in dating.
(after polycule)
Angus: YOU WERE SAYING-
- Steven and Nacha both have southern accents and Angus teases Francis about how he has a type.
- The Rudboys family owns a farm/ranch and one time Steven took both Francis and Nacha there and taught them horse riding. Nacha got on well with the horses but Francis was scared of them.
- Vice versa on motorcycle riding though. Francis grew to love them but Nacha refused to get on one after the first time she tried it.
- Steven and Nacha both like dancing. Francis is usually too awkward/shy for dancing so whenever the occasion pops up Steven and Nacha would drag him to the dancefloor.
- Nacha loves giving cheek kisses for Francis and Steven.
- Whenever he has a bad day Francis would often lie his head on Nacha's lap for comfort.
- Whenever Steven goes out on long missions he'd sometime get interviewed on television. Francis and Nacha always make sure to watch his interviews.
- Steven comes up with the corniest pick-up lines ever.
- Steven's favorite dessert is apple pie and Nacha makes the best apple pie ever. McLooy is salty that Steven finds her pies better than his.
- Okay somewhat less nice headcanon: So idk if you remember this but Nacha has an ex-husband that she never officially divorced. One day said ex came over to the apartment to confront Nacha about her leaving.
- Steven wanted to kick his ass the moment he stepped in but Francis held him because Nacha said she wanted to deal with the ex herself so he begrudgingly complied.
- The talk between Nacha and her ex quickly grew ugly and after a nasty comment from the ex it was Francis who lost his patience and decked him.
(don't wanna go too much into this since I have ZERO idea how laws work but after the ex left they went to Alf who agreed to help Nacha sort out the issues with her ex)
- Anyways enough drama, here's a pic I think is perfect for them :
(from left to right: Francis, Nacha and Steven)

📙 (L, Y, Z) -> Milo, David, James
(if you dont want to do three, then you can do just Milo)
🌷
Thank you so much, Rach! I live your content, honestly. Congratulations on 50 followers!
thank you for the ask, star! <3 hope you’re having a good night and don’t hate me but I haven’t listened to a james audio (yet!) but i will happily write for our precious davey and milo :)
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
L → Milo strives to go above and beyond for children that aren’t even his own. Partly because he feels the need to prove to himself that he is not his father, and to prove to sweetheart that he can be humble and mannered toward more than just his cat. He’s always volunteering to babysit for his unempowered friends, or gets incredibly giddy when they get invited to a baby shower…
“Another already?” Sweetheart reads over the recent invitation to yet another couple’s announcement that they’re expecting.
“Can you believe it? It’s like dominos…” Milo giggles as he winds his arms around their waist.
“Wonder where we fall in line.” His mate murmurs quietly, interlocking the fingers settled on their hip. They turn to stare fiercely at one another, daring for the other to give the go-ahead.
“You know I’d never say no to a little practice, sweetheart.” The way his tongue curls as he speaks their name has them riled up in seconds. No other words needed to be said, after all, their actions that night spoke much louder.
David’s grumpy attitude is rated e for everyone, and children are no exception. Hard as he may try to make it clear, though, young ones gravitate towards him like a magnet. Just last week at their favorite sit-down restaurant, one little boy in particular kept peeking over the booth David was sat in and asking him the most ridiculous questions, followed by more absurd comments. For a majority of the night, the alpha kept his cool until Angel brought their new friend up on the drive home.
“He seemed to be really interested about you.” David only lets out a breathy chuckle.
“Kids never seem to learn when to sit still and stop talking. Kinda reminds me of someone else I know.” They lock eyes, and Angel is transported back to their first date, where she admittedly did agitate him with their boundless queries.
“You happen to be fond of this someone you know.” They point out with a smirk.
“I know that, you menace. Who said I wasn’t fond of the former?” This is all the prompting Angel needs to pester their husband the rest of the way home. From names, to nursery themes, it’s all they’re going to be talking about with their mate for the rest of the week. Or until David can finally get a clue.
Y → David doesn’t find a condescending attitude attractive AT ALL. It’s different if someone wants to take the lead, he realizes there’s certain circumstances where he needs to take a step back but having mutual respect in a relationship is everything to him. And if his partner has problems with his pack mates or his friends, he is always quick to cut them off, he’s too loyal for unnecessary drama.
Milo isn’t a fan of tardiness or non-communicative people. The man has abandonment issues, what do you expect? Anytime Sweetheart tells them they’ll be home by 9:00 and 9:02 strikes, he’s having heart palpitations and wondering the worst. Poorly dressed people also get on his nerves, because he doesn’t just look at it as having poor fashion sense but that the person isn’t trying to look good. Not even for themselves.
Z → David snores like a mf TRUCK, so loud angel has to wear earplugs or turn on a noise machine. He always denies it when it’s brought up or he finds Angel asleep on the couch some nights when it’s REALLY bad but deep down he knows it’s true. He probably has a deviated septum but refuses to go to the doctor to let them look and see what options there are. And god help Angel if they manage to drag them there, he’ll probably be debating with the doctor, too.
Milo talks in his sleep. Nothing coherent though, just tiny mumbles here and there or a choked breath that always scares Sweetheart to the point where they cloak themselves out of instinct. Some nights where he dreams vividly, the two can hold a somewhat understandable conversation for a few minutes. He won’t remember it the following morning, but Sweetheart will be hanging on to every word as blackmail for the future. How do you think they get him to play all those horror games?
Join the sleepover!

The Loyal Pin Ep. 05 Thoughts.
I am trying to understand the level of high standards people have for any sapphic show and is just so exhausting.
Like I have never mentioned this before until now and I will never mentioned again but I watched the first episode of blank the series, said is not for me and never made a post or comment about it because is "not for me". Someone else could love it and my opinions could affect that person perception of it.
If you don't like what you are watching, there's hundred of other stuff to watch(between new GL and BLs).
Anyway, let's talk about the episode:
Of course Pin runs away; all of this is new for her and find out that she kissed and actually want to kiss Anin. Very accurate reaction.
That lead to a lot of things in their dynamics that probably are gonna be presented in the future angst. Pin refusing to approach Anin at any level and Anin refusing to eat to the point to get sick.
Anin's brothers seems to be so nice and love her so much. I wonder what is gonna happen with them when all hell get loose and everyone finds out about them.
Anin you little bitch. How fast you took away that. Pin never had a chance. Pin really tried to hold it together. Great scenes together in there.
I am so curious about the family tree. I still don't understand why the lotus palace is like the kitchen of the royalty and Pin and her adoptive mom act like they are high level servants if they are basically family too. Give us interesting dynamics tho.
Finally Anin expressed how much she loves Pin. I really love they bring the love conversation. And Pin also don't understanding her own feelings until she remembers her feelings when she is jealous.
God someone mentioned that they are relaying so much in Freen and Becky's chemistry, but with scenes like the love confession and the kiss; do you really need more? That was perfect.
Actually, for me so far, the plot is there's two people that love each other more than anything they have ever felt before and they are exploring those feelings in a society that don't accept them and with a relationship dynamics where one is a freaking princess.
If the thing I have to pay to have the Thailand government involve in this show is basically food porn of traditional Thai dishes and not some blatant propaganda, be my guess I am happy and that food looks amazing. Sadly as Colombian myself I would never be able to eat anything like that because I would die for spicy food. (not all Latin American people can handle spicy food, not all of us are Mexican).
I am very curious if they are doing the food thing with food of that era or they are doing just popular Thai dishes. Also, I am very curious if they are doing some changes in dialect and language for that period and the fact that the majority of the cast is supposed to be royalty.
Also, I don't remember at all(I have to watch the first episodes again) but have they mentioned the surnames or anything they are using for this monarchy? Because I want to know if they are creating a fake royal family or these was supposed to be the family that was in the palace in that time. Also, if they are connected to the family of Gidle's Minnie(everyone mentioned she is supposed to have royal blood; something about the Lanna kingdom?) Usually the culture differences don't affected me this much but because is a period drama I want to know more about that culture.
I AM STILL VERY AFRAID OF THE GHOST OF HENG IN THAT FUCKING TRAILER AND I HATE THAT HE HASN'T SHOW UP. Every episode he is in the back of mind, probably getting ready to come to be an obstacle of my girls and probably try to get married to one of them(probably Anin because in Gap he was after Sam).

Codywan Week 2024 Day 5: Only One Bed
Author Note: Hello! Back to our regularly scheduled pining between two idiots that are absolutely in love with each other. This is my prompt fill for @codywanweek's day 5, who doesn't love this trope. I had a lot of fun writing this one, I hope you guys enjoy reading it! As always likes, reblogs, and comments are always welcome! Divider by @saradika-graphics, if you are looking for any cute graphics or dividers they have tons of amazing ones!
Work Tags/Warnings: Fluff no smut, pining, first kiss, unrequited emotions, admitting said emotions finally, getting together, sharing a bed, Cody being hopelessly in love and refusing to admit it because he's stubborn.
Mando’a Translations:
Gar’re bid mesh’la. - You’re so beautiful.
Ni kar’tayl gar darasuum. - I love you.
Vode- brothers
Jetii- Jedi
The diplomatic mission they had been given to Alderaan seemed straightforward, and was hardly the most difficult or riskiest mission they had been on. A few positions of government would be changing over this week and would be sworn in. Obi-Wan and Cody were sent to act as representatives of the Jedi and the GAR and introduce themselves to the new politicians as well as act as security in the event that anything were to go wrong. Alderaan didn’t have the amount of drama or turmoil that Naboo had but anything involving politics and the changing of powers was sure to be a headache.
So far things had gone off without a hitch and Obi-Wan actually had a good feeling about this mission for once. Cody however was not feeling so positive about the experience and it started when they were shown to their room for the stay.
The Organa’s were gracious hosts and made sure that their guests every need was seen to. Cody and Obi-Wan were both used to not having much due to being a clone and a Jedi, respectively. So the room they were given to stay in almost felt like too much. It was opulent. The carpets were thick and plush under their well worn boots, the drapes were made from a sturdy fabric and were a rich color, the blankets on the bed were soft and plush. The entire room was tasteful and inviting and Cody wanted nothing more than to take a nice shower with actual water and curl up in the plush bed. Which is when he noticed the problem. It had been nagging at him since he had walked in, but it took his brain longer to catch up with the rest of him.
There was only one bed.
He had shared a bed with others in the past. Many of his vode were known to share beds when nightmares became too much to handle on their own, or they were looking for some comfort after the stress of battle and long days of training as cadets on Kamino. He and Obi-Wan had even slept in the same room before. On longer missions it was common for he and the General along with other command staff to share a tent, and on a few occasions they had fallen asleep at their desks while going over flimsiwork late into the night together.
But this?
This felt far too intimate and like a breach in command.Obi-Wan was his commanding officer. It wouldn’t be appropriate to be this close to the man. Even if it was just for a few nights of sleep. Not to mention Cody had been harboring a crush on the General for months now.
The ginger man spurned something in him that he had never really felt before. He had had his fair share of make out sessions and one night stands, but none of those experiences had ever made him feel the way he did when he was around his Jetii.
The smallest motion or statement would cause Cody’s heart to flutter, and his breath would catch. Just earlier in the day he had caught himself staring at Obi-Wan involuntarily as they landed and disembarked from the ship. It was early morning and the sun was rising over the horizon and casting warm, pale, streaks of light across the planet. One had caught Obi-Wan’s profile perfectly and set him into a gorgeous contrast, making his blue eyes almost glow, and his auburn hair glint a fiery red, with flecks of gold and silver intertwined in it. A lock of Obi-Wan’s hair had fallen from its perfect coiffure to curl across his forehead and brow to just barely graze across the beauty mark that sat on his right cheekbone.
He was beautiful. Gorgeous even. Cody wanted nothing more than to carefully brush the hair from his brow and tuck it into place behind his ear, and use that to gently cup his face in his hand. To feel the coarse hair of his beard against his palm and wrist and gently brush his thumb over that beauty mark before leaning in to taste his sun kissed skin.
But he couldn’t.
He could never have that. Obi-Wan was his superior officer, a nat born, and the most impressive Jedi that Cody had ever met. He may be a little biased on the last point, but Obi-Wan was still an impressive Jedi. He was a highly skilled negotiator, the master of his lightsaber form, looked up to and respected by many within and outside of the Jedi order, and a member of the Jedi high council to boot. He was the definition of the perfect Jedi. He lived by the code, and if he were to break that code for romance it would never be for someone like Cody.
Cody was just a clone, one face in a sea of millions exactly like his, one body in a forest of duplicates. Even his training was the same as his commander batchmates. Other than the colors he used to decorate his armor and the handful of scars littering his body, there was nothing that made him stand out from his brothers. He didn’t even earn a wage to be able to properly take Obi-Wan on a date, or help provide for them after the war, if they managed to live that long. There was nothing he could offer to him, not when compared to someone like Duchess Satine Kryze.
Cody wasn’t blind. When they had been assisting the Duchess on Mandalore and later on Coruscant he had seen the way they had fought and bickered, and the way the two had looked at each other. And he couldn’t blame Obi-Wan in the slightest. The Duchess was well educated, sharp, passionate about her people and the causes she decided to back, and was breathtakingly gorgeous with a regal air about her. She was everything Obi-Wan should want and deserved in a partner. Not some battle hardened clone without a penny to his name or rights.
Which led Cody back to the predicament at hand. How he was going to survive the week sharing a bed with the man he held so dearly in his heart. He quickly unpacked his bag and decided that some distance and time to think would present a solution. And a shower would help to clear his head of any unwanted thoughts that might distract him during the night and clue Obi-Wan in on his affections.
Cody politely excused himself to the fresher stating that he couldn’t wait to get a shower and wash off all of the space grime from months of traveling. Obi-Wan nodded that he heard and busied himself unpacking as well leaving Cody to his own devices.
In the seclusion and safety of the fresher Cody began wracking his brain for a solution to the problem that his Jedi might actually agree to. His Jedi was extremely self-sacrificing, too nice for his own good at times, and extremely stubborn. The longer he got to know the General the more he could see and understand where General Skywalker got his reckless habits from.
He knew for a fact that he could not share a bed with Obi-Wan under any circumstances. He couldn’t have that temptation or knowledge of how warm he felt at night and the way his sleep mussed hair looked in the morning or what the deep rumble of his voice sounded like as he stoked his accent and voice back to wakefulness. He also refused to let the General sleep anywhere but the bed. Obi-Wan was far older than him in age, and Cody knew that after too many nights on hard ground or in awkward positions how Obi-Wan would ache and grumble about a stiff neck or limbs. No, his general deserved better than that. And the plush bed was exactly what he was going to get during their stay. The only logical answer was to casually take his rest on the couch in the small sitting area at the end of their room. Hopefully Obi-Wan had curled up in bed and was fast asleep by the time Cody got out of the shower. Then Cody could curl up with one of the soft throw blankets he had spotted earlier and not disturb Obi-Wan. And if Obi-Wan was still awake well he would just try to stay up longer than him, citing interest in a new holonovel he was reading, and casually fall asleep there. A sore neck was a small price to pay for his General’s comfort. Confident in his new plan Cody quickly finished washing himself, stepped out of the shower, and finished getting himself ready for bed.
When he stepped out of the fresher Obi-Wan was unfortunately still awake. Tucked up comfortably by the head of the bed in loose sleep clothes of his own and a datapad in hand. Cody tried to be as inconspicuous as possible. He grabbed his own datapad and a blanket, padded over to the couch, settled in and made himself as cozy as possible, and flicked open to the holonovel that he’d been working on. But he couldn’t focus on the novel, his thoughts were scattered and kept circling back to Obi-Wan and the man’s presence in the bed across the room.
Eventually Obi-Wan noticed the late hour and started tucking himself into the plush bed. Cody hoped Obi-Wan would leave him to his own devices and assume that he would join the ginger in bed, but today was not his lucky day.
“Cody? Are you coming to bed? It’s late.” Obi-Wan questioned lightly.
“Um….” Cody tried to sound casual, “I’m not tired just yet. I’ll join you later.” He hoped Obi-Wan would leave it and not call him out on his lie.
“Cody. I could feel your exhaustion across the palace if I wanted to, you don’t have to put up a front for my sake. It’s late, come to bed.”
Cody could feel his heart rate beginning to rise. How was he going to get out of this? “Sir, I really think it would be better if I didn’t.”
“Oh? Cody, are you not feeling well? You seemed perfectly fine all day today.”
Obi-Wan was getting suspicious, and Cody knew that he couldn’t lie to the General, he could sense lies faster than a being could tell them. “No, I’m fine. I’d….Well I’d feel more comfortable sleeping over here is all.” He answered Obi-Wan.
Now he had really piqued the ginger’s interest, and Cody knew that meant trouble. “Whatever for Cody? This isn’t the first time we’ve shared quarters before. Do you not trust me?”
“No, sir, I trust you completely. I’d just rather not disturb you in my sleep.” Cody tried valiantly to shake Obi-Wan.
“Cody.” He started, exhausted,”I’ve slept on battlefields, various ships, in jail, and a host of other horrid places. What could you possibly do to disturb me? I promise you won’t. And while we’re sharing quarters you don’t have to call me “sir”” Obi-Wan was starting to lose his patience.
“But sir-” Cody tried again, “Obi-Wan, I don’t want to share a bed with you! It would be inappropriate! You’re my commanding officer.” Cody was starting to slip and his responses were getting closer and closer to spilling the truth to Obi-Wan.
“That’s nonsense Cody. We’re both adults. And right now, frankly, you’re my friend and I’m not going to have you all out of sorts tomorrow with a stiff neck when there’s plenty of room in the bed.” Obi-Wan said firmly, trying to leave no room for argument from his commander.
“Gen-...Obi-Wan I still don-” Cody tried to defend himself.
“Come to bed, please?” Obi-Wan tried a little softer.
“But Obi-.”The ginger interrupted him again.
“Oh! Enough of this nonsense! Just get in the kriffing bed!” Obi-Wan snapped. Holding the blanket open expectantly for him.
Cody’s face flushed. Damn whatever decided that this should be his fate today. But the longer he thought about it and was faced with the General’s arguments and pleading blue eyes. What could it hurt, just one night. He would keep a respectful distance from the General and be up before the general would rouse for his morning meditation. Surely nothing that bad could happen.
Knowing the general wouldn’t relent, Cody gave a sigh and got up from his spot on the sofa to rigidly slip under the covers with the General. Obi-Wan smirked his victory and gave a small contented noise, before turning off the bedside lamps with a motion of his hand.
Obi-Wan settled into the covers, but Cody could not find it in himself to relax with the ginger so close next to him. He could feel the other’s body heat slowly radiating toward him through the thick blankets and smell Obi-Wan’s subtle scent, something clean, lightly spicy and just distinctly Obi-Wan.
The quiet that had settled over the two men was broken by a small sigh when Obi-Wan spoke softly into the room, “You can relax you know. I figured you of all people would know that I don’t bite.”
Cody cracked open an eye to look at Obi-Wan, and was met with the other man’s eyes crinkling with mirth at him. Cody scrubbed a hand over his face and shifted to his back so he wouldn’t have to face the other’s intense gaze. “Sorry.I just… I can’t seem to settle in for the night.” It wasn’t a lie. He was too aware of every movement he made, of every movement Obi-Wan made. The way the other man’s chest rose and fell, the sound of his breath in the room, Cody could swear if he listened closely enough he could hear his own heartbeat.
Obi-Wan made a non-commital noise, and the silence fell back over them again. A little less tense this time, until it was broken again by Obi-Wan.
“I like you too, you know.” The words were almost a whisper into the dark and the confession took Cody completely by surprise.
He glanced over at the ginger next to him in shock and was even more surprised at how peaceful the other man somehow looked in all of this. With his eyes closed and a small smirk on his face. He knew? This entire time? Cody started to panic. Surely he would be decommissioned or reconditioned for this, or sent away to be reassigned to another battalion. “What?... But?... How did you?...Huh?!” Cody babbled out incoherently through his shock.
He felt the other man give a small chuckle that shook the blankets around them gently. “You’re very loud in the Force my dear. Not all the time but often enough that I caught on.”
That made all too much sense. Kriff him for not remembering that his Jetii could sense things like that.
Cody groaned and covered his hands with his face. “How long?”
Obi-Wan hummed softly as he thought, “I started noticing your actions and reactions around me a few months ago. As for myself, from almost the moment I met you.”
Cody let the words Obi-Wan had said sink into his head a little more. He had loved Cody almost the entire time they had known each other? It didn’t make sense. He was a Jedi. Smart, powerful, capable, and handsome. He deserved so much better than a clone. What could he have possibly seen in Cody to warrant his affection in return?
“But why? I’m just a clone. I’m nothing special, just another identical face and body among thousands.” the words slipped from Cody before he could stop them.
He felt a gentle, calloused hand reach out to touch his bicep in a gesture that was meant to be soothing, but instead felt like fire traveling up and down his arm. “Why not you?” The words were gentle yet firm, “Cody, do you really not see how special you are?”
At this Cody chanced a glance over at his General. The man he would gladly follow anywhere no matter what dangers they would face. Their eyes met and the amount of sincerity and emotion that he saw plainly displayed on the other’s face took what words he was trying to come up with in response away. In Cody’s silence he continued on.
“Yes you may have the same face and body as your brothers, but that does not make you the same at all. You’re the most handsome man I’ve ever laid eyes on. You’re also a brilliant strategist, loyal, capable of handling anything that gets thrown at you, level headed even in the most dire circumstances, a formidable opponent on the battlefield, and above all I wish you could see the way you shine in the Force. Your signature is so unique. It’s grounding and sure just like the sunrise and I can’t help but find myself drawn to it and your presence. I’m honored to be able to call you my friend, and if you’ll let me, I'd like to remind you just how wonderful you are every day.”
Cody felt a wave of adoration and emotion wash over him at the kind words. He never imagined that anyone could care about him this much, much less his Jetii. Working around the lump in his throat Cody was trying to find the right words to convey what he wanted to say to Obi-Wan and answer him.
The hand that had been tracing along his bicep slowly worked its way up to cup the left side of his face and slowly brush a thumb across his cheekbone. Cody found himself turning to face Obi-Wan again and leaning gently into the touch. Finally finding the courage to say something he nodded his head, “Yes, I’d like that.” The words were thick with unshed emotion and came out almost inaudible, but Obi-Wan caught the meaning clearly. The smile breaking across his face dazzling Cody once again, causing his heart to race, and his answering smile to squeeze Obi-Wan’s heart in happiness.
“Gar’re bid mesh’la.” Cody found himself slipping into mando’a and the endearment tumbling out of his lips before he could stop it. All the while slowly bringing himself closer to Obi-Wan’s warmth, itching for more contact between them. He had wanted and waited for so long to know what it felt like to hold the Obi-Wan in his arms, and be close to him, and now it hardly felt real.
The mando’a was quickly translated in Obi-Wan’s brain and he found himself quickly closing the distance between them to settle their foreheads against each other.
Cody found his eyes flicking down from Obi-Wan’s to focus on his lips before flitting back up to lock with Obi-Wan’s intense blue gaze.
The soft “May I?” was whispered and answered so quickly that to an outsider it may not have happened at all. Cody nodded his consent, not trusting his voice, and the next thing he knew Obi-Wan’s nose was gently nudging against his and their lips were finally meeting. Sparks erupted all along Cody’s body as he finally got to kiss the man he had loved and cared for for so long. Obi-Wan’s lips were soft and sure and he deepened the kiss quickly, tilting his head to get a better angle. Cody slipped an arm gently around Obi-Wan’s waist while Obi-Wan’s other arm came up to wind around Cody’s neck to press against his back. The kiss was tender and full of passion and neither were sure how long they stayed like that. Only finally breaking when they desperately needed to come up for air, panting gently.
Cody brought his forehead back against Obi-Wan while they caught their breath. “Ni kar’tayl gar darasuum, Obi-Wan,” he whispered against his lips.
“I love you to Cody,” Obi-Wan answered just as softly, as Cody closed the distance between them once more to bring their lips together.
Eventually as they fell asleep, a tangle of limbs and new love, Cody thought to himself that no matter what would come in the future he was sure of his place with Obi-Wan and that together they would face anything they came across. And that just maybe sharing a bed wasn’t so bad after all.

It's so cute that you uploaded some puffy, you're so kind 😭💞
But I have a question, why did they even block his account? How does Tumblr block an account? He didn't upload anything bad [?]
To the best of my knowledge—and I say this because I did not see every single one of Puffy's posts—Puffy did everything that Tumblr requires when it comes to posting "mature" artwork. She tagged her posts, used Community Labels, cropped and/or censored thumbnails, and made use of the "Read More" option. She was bolder than me when it came to posting certain art styles and speaking unabashedly, but that's a difference in personality. Puffy is a free spirit, incredibly witty, and absolutely hilarious. I'm old and crotchety and try to avoid drama if I can help it—not to say that Puffy in any way invited or deserved termination. She did not.
But she was no match for a targeted mass-reporting campaign. And, unfortunately, there's no way to know just how many people were involved or how much harassment she's been receiving since she joined Tumblr. I know there were at least three asks, likely more, and one rude comment left on one of her artworks early on.
But Tumblr has a poor track record when it comes to making decisions and meting out justice. They don't typically perform thorough investigations, they panic when they see certain words, and they're also prone to outrageous hypocrisy—like the fact that gifs of graphic, live-action porn somehow still manage to survive on this site after 10 years and a purge that cost the company a billion dollars in value, and how they claim to be "the queerest place on the internet" while simultaneously alienating and fostering a hostile environment for the queer artists who are largely responsible for Tumblr's success. Porn and spam bots run amok, but the blogs of marginalized people and artists are first on the chopping block.
I myself have had blogs deleted for lesser reasons. A couple years ago I created a "ship week" event blog, which was deleted simply because at one point in the TV show, one of the characters in the ship was a minor. The blog posted G-rated prompts. It was text-based with completely worksafe header graphics. It didn't endorse any age ranges, but left that up to the discrimination of the participants. The participants complied with Tumblr's TOS if they posted 18+ content, cropping images, using Community Labels and such. Everything adhered strictly to Tumblr's guidelines.
But I was the target for a lot of hatred from the rest of the fandom. They hated my guts because I shipped "the wrong ship"—because it was a gay ship, because it upset the canon heterosexual ship that one of the characters was in, because I wasn't sniveling in fear whenever they sent me hateful asks, because I refused to be bullied or shamed. They went after us because we were a tiny group of fans, easy to target and eradicate. Disgusting behavior, really.
I tried to appeal the deletion, but I never heard back from Tumblr. Fine. I moved the event to another platform (and it looked much better there, too), and that was that.
In short, Tumblr would rather delete a hundred innocent blogs out of fear of offending their ad sponsors rather than 1) investigate the claims made against the blog, or 2) give the blog owner a chance to delete the offending content.
One final thing:
Last month, around 17 June 2024, several Pompep fans on Tumblr received anywhere between 1-3 anonymous asks telling us to kill ourselves or "get raped".
Over cartoon characters.
It's a sad state of things when there's more sympathy, respect and agency given to drawings of fictional lines than living, breathing people.
#asks#puffyphantom#cancel culture#a glowing history of [tumblr] being shitty#though not as shitty as the people who think it's okay to bully real humans for not playing ''pretend'' the right way#cw for:#harassment#death threats

This broke my heart. This is honestly where I started ugly-crying. As you can probably tell by my viewing habits, an angst junkie like myself has a super high tolerance for this sort of thing, but I think what got me was that they gave up, they were out, they were finally going to be free and happy and then...
Jialuo has utterly lost it - when I commented that he was Qing Javert, I was more accurate than I thought. And the thing is, perhaps Bufan couldn't have won against the squad with guns, but if he wasn't badly wounded and had his weapon, maybe there was a small chance. But as is, there is none, and Jialuo's crowning achievement ends up being gunning down an unarmed, severely injured man and a woman whose only crime was refusing to leave his side.
Huo Qin tries to explain that Bufan didn't do any of the murders himself etc but Jialuo's has lost his marbles so much they are in Australia somewhere and is of course not listening.
When she kneels I about lost it and the way Bufan kneels to lift her up because he won't have her kneel and also he knows it's pointless (side note - it kills me that from the moment he gave up on the sect, he's been calling her by her name, the way he didn't do the entire drama because of their respective positions.)
The way he wants to save her! He's accepted he's dead but he wants her to live.
Except Jialuo is all "sure fine if she walks away, if not it's an executable offense so I am gonna kill her too." Man is Javerting to his full capacity.
Indeed.
But she won't leave him.
The way he just walks away and Bufan tries the last ditch effort to have her leave.
And he finally accepts...
But the way he still tries to cover her tho it's futile...
And we end on shots and birds flying...
The overlap between people who've watched this drama and read Herve Bazin's Un feu dévore un autre feu is solely me but this made me remember Manuel and Maria's execution scene that ends that novel - the woman refusing to leave the man about to be executed despite his pleas and the soldiers going oh well then we will kill them both and the birds. I don't read French and can't find the quote in French anyway, but this is how the novel ends in Russian translation:
That novel was one of formative novels of my teen years so this scene in the drama just went straight to my id in the most eviscerating way.

The impending meeting was coming up at the end of the week. Your agent, Jae, wouldn't take no for an answer and immediately responded to the Netflix executive, saying you’d take the meeting. If the meeting was anywhere else in the world, you wouldn’t hesitate, but the fact that you had to fly out to LA for this made you feel reluctant.
And when everyone heard you’d be in LA, the only topic of conversation was if you were planning to see he-who-must-not-be-named.
"Will you tell Jungkook you're in town?" Hyunie asked as she cut through her French toast covered in Nutella and strawberries. Taehyung leaned over to take a bite from her fork, but she refused to let him have any.
Yoongi sat, wavering his fingers together. “Oh—the plot thickens. Dun, dun, dun.”
He’d become too comfortable knowing your business and complained that he knew too much for his own good. He was cool with you, but his lifestyle was too chill to mesh with everyone else’s dramatics, including yours. Though he works in the movie business, that didn’t mean he wanted his life to be like a goddamn drama.
“Wouldn’t that be weird? To meet up with an ex?” you asked with reluctance as you searched your friend’s faces for any words of advice.
It’d be nice to catch up, you thought, but what if old feelings resurface? Then what? You’d be screwed and have to start from square one again. You had gotten too far to return to the sad, pathetic person you once were.
Hyunie interjects, “Of course not! You’re friends too.”
You deadpanned. “I haven’t spoken to him in over a year–and I’d hardly call us friends.”
Honestly, could you even go back to being just friends? How were you supposed to be friends with your ex-slash-best-friends-little-brother? How can anyone return to being just friends after being with someone like Jeon Jungkook? You could hardly keep your friends now and then to add an ex as a friend? It sounded like a recipe for disaster.
With a mouth full of strawberries, Tae threw in his two cents. “Just go see him. What’s the worst that can happen? You gonna sleep with him?” He smirked and grabbed another bright red strawberry. This conversation amused him for days, making smart comments and occasionally alluding to what the two of you used to have.
“Really, Tae?” You rolled your eyes, sipping your coffee. You’d like to think you had some kind of self-control.
“What? I’m just being realistic here. The two of you probably have all that pent-up sexual frustration, and who knows—you might not be able to contain yourselves if you’re in the same room.” Taehyung wiggled his eyebrows and then bit down his bottom lip, thrusting and slapping the air while in his seat. Hyunie elbowed him in his rib, causing him to groan at the pain. She whispered something indistinct to him, and the two bickered quietly.
You turned to Yoongi. He was always wise and had the right answers. “What should I do?”
You interrupted him just as he was about to sip his coffee. His lips thinned, and he stared blankly at you. “Why are you asking me?”
“Because you’re the most unbiased person here, and you don’t know Jungkook like we do.”
Yoongi shrugged. “I don’t know. Do whatever you want. If you want to see him, go see him. If you don’t, then don’t. It’s as simple as that.”
Everyone turned their attention to you, wondering how you’d respond. It wasn't as simple as Yoongi had said. The weight of your previous relationship with Jungkook wasn’t one where you could simply put it behind you and pretend like you could be friends again. There was too much history, too much hurt—just too much of everything. You tried to convince yourself for months that there were no more feelings.
And you had made so much progress, minus being upset when you heard he was in town—but regardless, you had moved on, and seeing Jungkook again could set you back a few steps.
Yoongi set down his knife and fork and turned to you. “You’re a big girl, and you’ve worked through a lot of things, and if you don’t think you can handle seeing him again, then don’t put yourself in that situation. I'm sure he’d understand.”
“Or—or—you could just fuc—”
Hyunie covered Taehyung’s mouth, muffling the rest of his sentence. “Don’t listen to my crazy husband. Do what you think is best for you, okay?”
After brunch with the crazy lovebirds, you sat in Yoongi’s car, staring aimlessly out the window, and said nothing the entire car ride.
As he pulled up to your apartment complex, you needed to ask him again. “Tell me the truth. What would you do in my position?”
He sighed, and his shoulders slumped. He knew you needed reassurance, but honestly, there was no right answer for this situation.
“Well, considering that I’ve gotten to know you over this past year, I'd say that it’s gonna eat at you day and night if you don’t reach out to him. You’ll wonder, ‘what could’ve been’ or ‘what if I did X, Y, and Z?’ You’re good at compartmentalizing, but I have a feeling ten years down the line, you’re gonna be upset at yourself. So, I don’t know, as I said earlier if you want to see him, go see him. If you don’t, then don’t. Whatever you choose will be the right decision.”
But what was the right decision? You thought of all the possible scenarios that could play out. What if you call to meet up, and he doesn’t want to? Or what if you meet up and it’s awkward? Or what if you meet up and old feelings resurface?
You were thankful for Yoongi and glad he could always be honest with you. With his advice in consideration, along with everyone else’s minus Kim Taehyung’s, you pondered your next move as you tossed and turned in bed.
Should you try and meet up with Jungkook? But you were doing so well. You had deleted his number, photos, and texts, and if you wanted his new number, you’d have to ask Yuna, and you wouldn’t hear the end of it from her if you did.
Maybe it’d be easier to just not try to see him. You were sure he was doing well, living in LA, doing whatever he was doing, seeing whomever he wanted. You just didn’t want to return to feeling insecure and vulnerable, and you had worked so hard to be where you are today. Maybe it’d be better if you didn’t tell him you were in town.
A non-stop flight from Seoul to LA was close to eleven hours, but you wished it was longer. The lower the flight time, the higher your anxiety rises. Los Angeles was a big city, and there was no way you’d bump into Jungkook, right? That’s a ridiculous thought to have. You’d have a higher chance of bumping into a celebrity than your ex. You were just psyching yourself out at this point, and there was no need to because you decided not to tell him you’d be in town.
After eleven hours on a flight and only six hours of sleep, you hoped you’d bump into no one. Your swollen ankles and puffy eyes were horrendous for anyone to see. But here you were—in Los Angeles, where many dreams came to fruition or never saw the light of day, and you were hoping for the latter, whatever that dream may be. You were curious about what Netflix had to offer and if it would require you to move here. Though, you didn’t want to get ahead of yourself, thinking about the what-ifs because nothing was set in stone.
Being a huge corporation, Netflix paid for everything—the flight, hotel, and transportation. Not too shabby, especially since they were trying to woo you into whatever job this was. They booked a corner suite at the Conrad Los Angeles, overlooking the city's skyline. The hustle and bustle of city life were similar but different from Seoul and could possibly be a place where you’d have to get used to.
The luxe Mercedes Benz E-Class you were sitting in pulled up behind the slew of cars from other hotel guests. This felt too fancy from anything you were used to, but you weren’t complaining.
You bid your driver farewell and thanked them as he pulled your luggage from the trunk and set it beside you. Just as you grabbed the handle, a driver behind you honked, gesturing for you to move out of the way. You jumped back, your heart racing as the loud horn continued in short outbursts until you stepped onto the hotel’s sidewalk.
God, this city sucks already, you thought, and you hadn’t even been here for that long, either. Brushing off the awful interaction, you breathed a big breath, ready to take on whatever this trip had in store for you.
“Miss? I’ll need a form of ID and a credit card to put on file.”
You handed what the front desk receptionist needed from you. Now, you understood all the buzz and why this was the hot spot. The hotel was gorgeous and a great place to hang out, even if you weren’t a guest.
As the receptionist input your information, your eyes scanned the lobby, taking everything in. A rowdy group of men exited one of the hotel restaurants, entering the lobby. You noticed a man in a monochromatic cream-colored outfit. You appreciate a man who was put together.
After catching a glimpse of him, you could’ve sworn your eyes were deceiving you. No, it wasn’t him. You were seeing things, weren’t you?
This city was far too big for you to end up at the same hotel as your ex-boyfriend, right? Destiny was definitely being a prude and playing tricks on you.
“Here’s your ID and card back. You’re located on the 16th floor, room 1613.”
“Thank you.”
When you grabbed your ID, card, and luggage, you turned around to ensure you were imagining things. The group of men had disappeared and was nowhere to be found. But you shouldn’t be looking for Jungkook anyway. You decided not to tell him you were in town. Wouldn’t you look pathetic going back on your word?
But instead of going directly to your room, you might have ‘taken the long route,’ cruising through the hotel—just to see what they had to offer. Though, who were you kidding? That person definitely looked like Jungkook! Except he had longer hair, and you hadn’t seen any recent photos of Jungkook, so you had no idea if he had shaved his head or had long, glorious hair like Rapunzel.
You would’ve lurked longer, but now you felt super creepy and stalker-ish, and your large rollaway luggage wasn’t helping either. Maybe it was time to give up; you had been looking longer than you should’ve.
If there was one thing that could possibly make up for the shitty interaction from the furious man honking away like there was no tomorrow—it was the view. The city skyline and clear blue skies with only a few scattered marshmallow-type clouds floating around.
The room was too big for just one person, and you weren’t sure what to do with yourself to kill time before your big meeting. So, you quickly freshen up to roam around the five-star hotel. You had nothing better to do, save for the fact that you needed to find that guy again, just to make sure it wasn’t Jungkook.
And as you expected, this hotel was packed with people. The restaurant's decor and view were stunning, to say the least. You didn’t want to keep going back and forth between the various choices of restaurants, so you stuck with the first place you saw, Agua Viva.
A small commotion turned your head; your eyes focused on it for a split second before returning your attention to the host. You cleared your throat, “I’m sorry. Yes, a seat at the bar is great. Thank you.”
You scanned the drink menu, pondering the various choices before you. Alcohol or no alcohol—such a hard decision. Well, considering you were going to an important meeting, it was probably best not to be tipsy, or it could calm your nerves.
“Hello, miss. What’ll you have?”
It was a toss-up between the Tornup Tiki Punch or Flamingo Shuttle. What silly names they were.
“I’ll have a Flamingo Shuttle, please.”
Non-alcoholic it is.
“One Flamingo Shuttle coming right up.”
You tapped on the square napkin before you, swiveling your chair back and forth, taking in the surroundings of light laughter and chatter, before returning your attention to the bartender making your drink.
In a city of 3.8 million people, it was stupid to think you had seen Jungkook. Maybe you just wanted it to be him and desperately tried to speak it into existence. You probably had a better chance of bumping into a Kardashian than Jeon Jungkook.
“Is this seat taken?”
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath before turning around to confirm your suspicions about the familiar voice.
It’s like time stood still; everything and everyone quieted down, and it was only you and him. He was like a stranger from a different lifetime staring back at you, but everything you felt while with him came rushing back like a flood.
“Jungkook.” His name rolled off your lips in a familiar way you couldn’t explain. It had such a hold on you, pulling you right back like a lovesick puppy.
“Noona,” he said with his big brown, doe eyes crinkling in the corner, along with a bunny smile.
The one word made you clench around nothing, but it’s just a word–what’s wrong with you? Honestly, woman.
“Is this seat taken?” He repeated, making you come back to reality.
“No, it’s yours if you’d like.”
You watched his every move. His hand held your stool, and his thumb lightly brushed against your back as he sat down. Immediately, you straighten your posture in case of any other accidental touches.
Jungkook crossed his arms on the counter, turning to you. The both of you smiled awkwardly, waiting for someone to say something.
“I thought I saw you,” the both of you said in unison and chuckled after.
“It’s me,” you scrunch your nose, flashing a smile.
Jungkook shook his head, copying your smile. “I thought I was going crazy for a split second. Wha–” he paused to let his mind catch up with his words. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here for a meeting.”
He nodded. “Oh. It must be an important meeting if you flew all the way out here.”
You hummed. “Yeah, it’s pretty important.”
Should you spare more details? Or just leave it at the bare minimum? You didn’t want him to conjure up any ideas as you had been for the last few weeks.
“Your Flamingo Shuttle, miss. Would you like to bill it to your room?”
“Yes, please.” If Netflix was paying, you were drinking.
You lightly groaned after taking a sip, not realizing you’d been thirsty after flying all day, or was it Jungkook’s presence making you feel suddenly parched?
“Anything for you, sir?” The bartender asked Jungkook, to which he shook his head no.
“It’s good to see you,” Jungkook said as the bartender left to attend to another guest.
Your crossed leg unintentionally touched his pant leg when you turned toward him. You took your time letting your eyes gaze over this new Jeon Jungkook. His permed hair had grown longer, and a fringe was swept softly across his left eye. The piercing that adorned his eyebrow had disappeared, and the only thing decorating that pretty face was a lip piercing.
“It’s really good to see you too. You look great, by the way. I love the long hair. It really suits you.” You couldn’t help but wonder how his hair would feel entangled between your fingers.
He proceeded to touch the ends. “Thanks. You–you always look great,” he chuckled lightly.
Your heart skipped a beat at the compliment as you suppressed a smile. “Thanks. I–um, do you have time to catch up? If you’re not busy, that is, but if you are, then please feel free to go. I don’t–I don’t want to keep you from anything.”
“I have some time,” he said with a twinkle in his eyes and his tiny dimple on display.
Maybe this wouldn’t be as bad as you made it in your head. You were overanalyzing nothing. Jungkook seemed happy to see you, even though you thought he’d be running in the other direction, considering he had left on a whim.
“Um, do you work around here?”
“Yeah, I was just getting some early drinks with my colleagues.”
Your mind immediately went to Alex, which you fucking hated, but you couldn’t help it. Obviously, she wasn’t with the group of him and rowdy men, but you assumed they still worked together, and who knew in what kind of capacity–or maybe she had him eating in the palm of her hands again.
You stopped the ongoing conversation in your head. It wasn’t good for anyone if this continued.
“This is a great place. I can see why you’d come here.” He hummed in agreement. “How–how are you? How’s everything?”
Jungkook cleared his throat, interlocking his hands together, light tapping his thumb on the other. “It’s good. I’m—good. Work has been going well. I, uh—I’ve taken up running along with boxing, but Bam–he’s a handful.”
“Bam?”
“Yeah! My dog.”
“You have a dog?”
“He’s still a pup, but he’s getting so big already.” Jungkook pulled his phone from his back pocket, scrolling to find a photo of Bam. “See.” He set his phone on the counter, pushing it to you.
“Oh, my god. He’s precious! He has big doe eyes like his dad,” your mouth curved into a smile. “He’s perfect for you.”
Jungkook cleared his throat, pressing the off button on his phone. “How are you? What’s new?”
His question was so broad you weren’t sure where to start. He obviously knew about your meeting but didn’t know what it was for. But how much information would you feel comfortable divulging?
“I’m good.” You let out a nervous chuckle. “I just got back from a solo trip, and then this whole LA thing happened, and now I’m here.”
“Ah–right. Yuna told me about your trip. How was it? Did you enjoy yourself?”
You nodded. “It was great. I practically laid out on the beach most of the time, got some sun in,” you smiled and shrugged. “And what about you? I heard you were back in Seoul for a little bit.”
He hummed. “Yeah, for my mom’s birthday dinner, and I finally got to meet Indie.”
“Ugh, I love that little booger,” you chimed in.
“She’s amazing, and she’s growing up so fast.”
“Right? She grew up in a blink of an eye.”
Then you realized Jungkook had missed most, if not the entirety, of Indie's first year. Time had passed, and you had also grown and blossomed without your awareness in the midst of it all.
Jungkook beamed a soft smile.
“Are you sure you don’t want anything to drink?” you asked again, searching for the bartender.
He shook his head. “I’m good, thanks.”
“Positive?” You gave him a look.
He nodded. “Still trying to take care of me?”
“Well–I am older than you.”
Jungkook chuckled and turned away for a moment. “I, uh, already had some earlier, remember? So, I shouldn’t have anymore.”
“What? You can’t hold your liquor anymore, old man?” you teased.
He scoffed at your lame joke. “Are you taunting me?”
It almost felt like old times when you were just friends, ragging on each other.
You sipped your drink before answering, “Yes.”
He flashed a close-lipped smile. “Can I take a rain check?”
You hummed lightly. “You got it.”
Jungkook rubbed the back of his neck and swiveled in his chair, lightly brushing his knee against yours. “Do you have my new number?”
You bit the inside of your cheek. No, because you recently deleted all his contact, texts, and photos. You shook your head.
He held out his hand, wavering his fingers for your phone. You gave it over without hesitation and watched as he saved his number. “Call me if you need anything or want to get that drink before you leave.”
He handed it back, his fingers softly touching yours. “I should go. I left Bam too long by himself.”
Your heart almost leaped out of your chest and onto the counter, your stomach fluttering with a swarm of butterflies and the bead of sweat on the nape of your neck finally caressing your skin when he touched you. “Yeah, sure, of course.” You nervously scratched your temple. “I, uh, I should get going too. I have my meeting soon.”
Jungkook smiled and stood, and you followed suit. He stepped back, straightening his cream-colored jacket and smoothing down his pants. “I’ll talk to you soon?”
You weren’t sure if he really meant it or if it was just an expression. Either way, you didn’t want to put more meaning into it than needed. You smiled and hummed.
He stepped away, waving his hand before walking off into the sea of people who just entered the restaurant.
You half expected him to look back, but he didn’t. He was calm, cool, and collected as he confidently walked away, making you think he was over you.
Jungkook sat in his Uber, pinching himself to ensure he wasn’t dreaming–that he really saw you and had a conversation, and it wasn’t as awkward as he thought it would be. Unless it was awkward, and he invented a fictitious scenario in his head, misunderstood your body language, and misinterpreted your words.
“Sir?”
“Oh, uh, sorry. Yes, you can drop me off right here.” Jungkook’s mind raced back and forth, replaying the conversation.
He closed the car’s door, shuffling to the apartment complex’s gate. He punched in the code, rushing to his place to let Bam out.
The 50-pound puppy popped his head up, panting and wagging his tail as he saw his owner. Bam sprung to his feet and dashed over to Jungkook, smelling and licking his palm more than normal.
“I know, Bamie. I know.”
Jungkook smelled different. He must’ve had the faintest smell of you on him.
“Come on, boy. You’ve been waiting for me for too long.”
Bam whined when Jungkook’s mind was on something else and did not notice him. He was scratching Bam’s belly, staring off into space with nothing but you on his mind. It’s like you had completely taken over him like you were his paradise, and even if he tried to resist, it was probably useless now. He could never escape you.
Should he go back to the hotel? Would that seem too needy? He thought he was trying to get over you, but here you were, right in front of him, practically within reach—no ocean between the two of you. If now wasn’t the time, then when?
Was he prepared to fight for you? To be with you again? Was he ready for you to reject him if he wanted more, but you didn’t?
He sighed, fighting with himself for his next move. Whatever his decision, he wanted to ensure it was the right one. The real question was—did he want to be with you again after all this time?
The answer was yes—it has always been yes. You’re it. You’ve ruined him—it will always be you.
He was so close to getting in his car and driving back. Every cell in his body was urging him to go and confess his undying love—that is, until he remembered he ran away, that he hurt you.
What if you had moved on but didn't want him to know? He had no right to delve into your business anymore. What if you had moved on with that Yoongi guy? He'd heard that guy's name too many times from Yuna and Taehyung for him not to suspect anything was up with the two of you. You looked so happy with Yoongi that one time he saw you. Maybe he was the cause of your euphoria, the person you spent all your time with, the person you dreamed with, shared your hopes with—maybe you had fully closed the chapter that Jungkook was a part of, and Yoongi was the ‘take two’ of your story.
But could Jungkook just be a foolish dreamer? Thinking he still had a chance with you?
He'd given you his phone number, and the ball was now in your court. If you wanted to, then you’d contact him. Otherwise, perhaps it's best that he's not constantly chasing you. If you still wanted him, then you needed to let him know, and if you didn’t, then maybe he could finally try to let you go.
You checked yourself one last time, smoothing out your tailored skirt and matching blazer. You wished you had chosen another pair of heels, but your nude slingbacks were the only things you packed, so it’d have to suffice. With a swipe of your raspberry lip tint, you were now ready to charm whoever this executive was.
The hostess led you through the restaurant to a private dining lounge. A few guests were scattered far and wide while light jazz music and laughter filled your ears. Were all Netflix meetings always this fancy? You had looked up the menu beforehand, and the prices were somewhat reasonable for dinner, but you’d be fine with instant ramen from the convenience store. You could probably order the whole menu if you wanted since you weren't paying.
“Mr. Wells will be here shortly,” the hostess smiled, leaving you at the table as you mindlessly fiddled with your thumbs.
You wondered how your name even landed on the desk or email of someone across the ocean. Or could Jae just be a great writing agent, and he just had his connections? Maybe you’d find out during this dinner.
A waitress stopped by the table, bringing glasses of water and a bottle of Champagne.
“Oh–I didn’t order this.”
“Mr. Wells did. He wanted to apologize in advance for his lateness. He’s held up in traffic at the moment.” The waitress poured the champagne into two tall flutes.
Fifteen minutes went by as you sat waiting for this Netflix exec. He was already leaving a bad taste in your mouth because of his lateness, but it’s not like you had any other plans.
You scanned the room, watching others converse and eat before pulling out your phone. You went to your contacts and scrolled down to Jungkook’s name. It was like deja vu all over again–staring aimlessly at his name, whether or not to delete it or keep it. Only this time, he would hopefully pick up the call.
You were tempted to text him to see what he was up to. Considering it was a Friday night, he was probably out with friends, maybe Jimin or a girlfriend. You’d heard from Taehyung that they hung out fairly often. At least he had a friendly face in this city.
A low, husky voice said your name, making you look up from your phone. The man standing before you was not someone you pictured. If you had all the confidence in the world, you’d whistle and holler at this Park Seo Joon look alike.
“I’m Zachary Wells, but just call me Zach.” He grinned as he quickly scanned your face and held out his hand. You stood to shake it.
“It’s nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you and your work,” Zach said, gesturing for the both of you to sit.
“You have?”
“Whenever Kenji is in town, you’re all he ever talks about.”
Ah, Kenji. You should’ve known. Well, you supposed one of your exes was good for something.
Zach grabbed the attention of the waitress. “Should we order dinner? I’m starving.”
The two of you had a lot in common. Zach was fairly easy to talk to and was a chatterbox. But just like Kenji, Zach was avoiding why he had wanted to meet you in the first place.
The conversation had finally winded down after an hour, and the champagne and water washed down the last of your dinner. And now, only one thing remains.
“So, you’re probably wondering why I wanted to meet with you.” You hummed. "Well, as you know, we've been expanding Netflix into South Korea, and we're picking up a lot of Korean dramas as demand grows here in the States. As I was talking with Kenji, we thought you’d be perfect for the role of director for creative marketing. I understand you've been a writer for a long time, but I believe you have the potential to help us thrive even more with your market knowledge and insight.”
“Would that mean I wouldn’t have to move out here? That I could stay in Seoul?” It was the first thought on your mind.
“We’d onboard you here in LA for a few months and then get you settled back in Seoul.”
Zach’s offer was too good to be true and to pass up. You didn’t have anything else going for you right now. No show and only a half-finished script.
“So? What do you think?” Zach leaned back in his seat, draping his arm behind you, scanning you from head to toe. He finished the last of his champagne, gesturing for the waitress to bring another one.
It’s not like you could give him an answer right here, right now–coming to live in LA, leaving your life and friends behind. It was a big ask and not a decision you’d take lightly.
Your silence encouraged him to move closer, and his knee knocked into yours. “What do I have to do to convince you?” he said, his finger lightly brushing against your knee.
Immediately, you pulled back, pushing his hand away. “Is this how you get everyone to come to work for you?” You scowled, disgusted by his action.
“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, babe. Don’t waste it.” Zach raised his brows, waiting for you to change your mind. He tried to touch you again, but a loud smack echoed throughout the room, making others around you stop and look at the commotion.
“You’re feisty. I like that.” Zach licked his lips, massaging his cheek.
“You’re a disgusting pig.”
He scoffed. “Oh, am I? I’m here trying to give you a job, and here you are, being a fucking bitch. I hear you have nothing else lined up for you, right? And I can easily tell everyone in this industry to never give you another job again.” He threatened and then proceeded to move in again.
“If you touch me again. I’ll fucking scream,” you seethed, your face warm to the touch, smoke fuming from your ears.
Zach rolled his eyes and threw his hands in defeat. “Fine–have it your way. Good luck getting a job in this industry ever again,” he spat out before leaving.
Everyone in the restaurant was looking at you. You cowered, unsure of where to go or what to do. You weren’t expecting this turn of events. It was just too good to be true.
This whole trip felt like a bust. You came here expecting to return to Seoul with a job but instead had a creepy interaction with a high-level executive, and they paid for everything, including your flight and hotel. You shivered at the thought of him knowing exactly where you were staying. You were alone in a big city, and the only person you knew was your ex-boyfriend.
You illuminated your phone to check the time, debating whether to call Jungkook. Would it be weird? Would you look desperate if you called? It’s not like you had any dignity left anyway.
Unlocking your phone, you clicked on Jungkook’s contact; your thumb hovered over the call button. Fuck it, you thought and pressed call.
It rang a few times before Jungkook’s familiar voice was on the other end—it felt like old times.
Hello?
“Hey, it’s me.”
Hey. I was hoping you’d call. Are you done with your meeting already?
“Yeah, um, would you mind picking me up at the restaurant?”
Yeah! Of course. Text me the address. I’m coming right now.
Jungkook zipped through the city, and thankfully, there wasn’t any heavy traffic to slow him down. He got to the restaurant in less than 20 minutes. He pulled up and saw you waiting on the sidewalk with your arms crossed, trying to keep yourself warm. Parking the car, he ran over to you.
“Hey—are you okay?” he asked with concerned eyes, scanning you from head to toe, ensuring you weren’t hurt.
“Yeah, can we go?” Your body language was telling Jungkook otherwise.
He opened the door for you, and you quickly got in, fastening your seat belt and breathing a sigh of relief once you lay against the headrest. Jungkook looked over, biting his cheek as he could tell you weren’t okay—your eyes were glassy, and he could see how your mascara smudged. He began to input the address for the hotel, but you stopped him.
“Can—can we go back to your place?” Jungkook perked up. “I don’t want to be alone, if that’s okay.”
He certainly wasn’t going to deny you. “Yeah, of course. That’s fine with me.”
“Are you sure?”
It probably wasn’t fair of you to do this to him.
“Yeah, of course. Anything for you.”
“Jungkook, you can totally say no—”
He gently placed his hand on top of yours. “Hey—it’s okay. We’ll go to my place.”
You waited a good distance behind Jungkook as he unlocked the door. He took a step but then stepped back and turned to you.
“Bam gets excited when new people come over. So, I apologize if he’s a bit wild.”
You smiled, assuring him you’d be okay. You were nervous but psyched to meet him, actually—you hoped he would like you. Considering Jungkook was his owner, Bam would probably be the sweetest pup.
As soon as Jungkook opened the door, the brown-coated Doberman greeted him. He knelt down, rubbing his floppy ears. “I told you I wouldn’t be gone long, right, Bamie?”
Jungkook looked at you, beaming a wide smile before returning to his puppy. Bam’s tongue hung out as he panted, looking in your direction–he really did have big, doe eyes like Jungkook. Maybe they were drawn to each other through lingering starry eyes.
He let go of him, and immediately Bam came to sniff your hand, giving a few licks before looking up at you. “I think he likes you.”
“Whew—I passed Bam’s vibe check,” you joked as you crouched down to cup his face, in which Bam licked your chin. “Oh–” You scrunch your eyes closed and giggle at the pup. He really was so sweet.
“Bam—house,” Jungkook commanded. Bam whined quietly before following his owner’s order. He pouted the entire stroll to his crate. As he lay down, he took his turtle chew toy into his mouth, making it squeak.
You slipped off your shoes and set down your bag, looking around Jungkook’s apartment. As you expected, it was squeaky clean, with a few photo frames of his mom, Yuna, and Indie. Then you noticed the ‘Rising Star’ award he had displayed on a shelf next to a few other awards he must’ve gotten at his new job. The stark white walls and flooring contrasted against the black and brown hue furniture. You chuckled to yourself when you saw the workout equipment in the corner—of course; it’s right in his living room.
“If you’re tired, you can take my bed. I’ll take the couch.”
“Oh–” It wasn’t your intention to sleep here. You didn’t want to be alone after that icky interaction with Zach. “I’m okay. Do you just want to hang out and talk for a little bit?”
Jungkook took a big gulp and cleared his throat. He figured this was the moment of truth. He didn’t know what to expect anymore–it could be good or bad.
“Yeah,” he smiled, making his way to the couch, gesturing for you to do the same. “Make yourself at home.”
That was easier said than done. You felt intrusive and feared that you crossed a boundary you shouldn’t have.
He watched you sit on the opposite end. And never in a million years did he think you’d be here, sitting with him. Is it possible that you have found some way to forgive him?
Your eyes found his, and the two of you nervously chuckled.
“Can I get you anything? Water? Coffee? Tea?”
You shook your head. You didn’t mind just sitting here and being in his presence. It felt so comforting after such a long day of traveling and a shitty meeting.
“How was your meeting? Did it go well?”
You sighed, positioning your body toward him as you leaned against the couch. You purse your lips before answering him. “The guy was a bit of a douche. The job sounded like a great opportunity, but I refuse to work with someone who thinks I’ll sleep with them for a job.”
Jungkook’s eyes widened, and he shifted in his seat. “I’m sorry, what?”
You could see Jungkook clenching his fist, but honestly, he had nothing to worry about. You hoped the slap Zach got was more than enough to scare him off.
You held your hands up to calm him down. “I can take care of myself, Jungkook,” you assured him. “He got a nice slap from me,” you beamed.
He breathed a sigh, relaxing his body into the couch cushion. “I’m sorry the meeting wasn’t everything you had hoped for.”
You shrugged. “It’s whatever. I’m sure something better will come along.”
“I’m sure it will.”
“So, what were you doing on a Friday night? I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything.” You scanned the room, and there was nothing indicating he had company over.
Jungkook pouted, shaking his head. “Just hanging out with Bam.”
“No girlfriend or anything?”
Jungkook suppressed a smile, but he couldn’t help it. Maybe this was your subtle way of asking if he was seeing anyone. “No. No girlfriend. LA girls aren’t really my type.” Because you were, he thought. As hard as he tried to let you go, he just couldn’t.
You hummed and then wanted to kick yourself because that question came out of nowhere, but it was the question lingering on your mind ever since he had left. Someone who looked like him would’ve surely had women lined out the door, ready and willing to date him and bear his children.
“What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?” he asked, avoiding your gaze.
“No. No boyfriend.”
“So, you’re not seeing that Yoongi guy?”
You licked your lips, the corners of your mouth curving into a smile. “I’m guessing you heard that name from Yuna or Taehyung?” He nodded. “He’s just a friend and a pain in my ass.”
“Ah–got it.”
“And what about Alex? Is she still around?” You couldn’t not ask. It was like a giant elephant hanging out in the room with you.
Jungkook figured her name would come up sooner or later. “Alex’s not working for the company anymore. She moved out of the country.”
“Good,” you huffed; if she wasn't near Jungkook, that made you happy.
“You really hate her, huh?”
“Yeah, kind of.”
Jungkook softly chuckled, letting a beat pass. “I’m sorry, by the way.”
“Sorry for what?”
“Everything that happened with us.”
“I’m sorry too.” Your lips thinned, your fingers unconsciously picking at your hand.
“Why are you sorry?”
You appreciated that he didn't point out your flaws, but he wasn’t the only one at fault. Neither one of you was perfect. “Jungkook, you’re not the only one to blame. I should have communicated my feelings better when we were together.”
He nodded in agreement. “Do you think you could ever forgive me?”
Initially, it was hard to even think about forgiving Jungkook, but as time passed, the pain and hurt subsided. “Mm. I forgive you. Do you forgive me?”
“Yes,” he chimed in. You chuckled at how fast he answered. “What?” He raised his eyebrow.
You shook your head. “Nothing–”
“Just say it.”
“I shouldn’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because—I just—shouldn’t.” You wanted to say you found him cute and endearing and that he forgave others too quickly.
“Fine,” he pouted, shifting his leg onto the couch.
Your mouth opens involuntarily, exhaling a yawn from exhaustion. The time difference really fucked you up. Quickly, you covered it with both hands and excused yourself.
“Am I boring you?” Jungkook teased.
“Yes, actually. I hadn’t realized you’d become so dull,” you quipped, covering another yawn. “See—so boring that you’re making me sleepy.” You leaned on your arm against the back cushion.
“Or maybe you’re just becoming an old lady.”
You scoffed. “I’m an old lady? You’re the one who’s staying in on a Friday night! Old man.”
“Yeah, I had to stay in, just in case an old lady needed me.” Jungkook giggled and looked away before returning to meet your eyes. “I’ve missed this.”
“What?”
“Us.”
It was this specific moment when you moved into flight mode. You gave a half-smile and shifted your position so your feet touched the ground. You checked your phone for the time. “I should get an Uber and go back to my hotel.”
“I can take you.”
“Jungkook, you’ve done so much for me already. I don’t want you to have to drive back and forth.”
“I don’t mind—honestly.”
You stood up. “I know you don’t—but I do. It’s okay—really.” You unlocked your phone and pulled up the app, determined to call for a car. All of this was becoming too much for you, for your heart. His presence, the giggles, the familiarity of what the two of you used to be.
Jungkook stood and walked over to you, gently pushing away your phone. “What’s going on? Tell me the truth.” He could always tell when your mind was working overload—racing with thought after thought.
Should you tell him why you needed to leave after the two of you had a nice, civil conversation without screaming or yelling? Your therapist did tell you that no one would know how you feel unless you told them—and you just told Jungkook that you should communicate better.
Ugh, goddamnit.
Speak now or forever, hold your peace.
You didn’t want to revert back to your old ways—being anxious, self-conscious, unsure of what you wanted. You sighed. “The truth?” Jungkook nodded. “The truth is—I probably shouldn’t have called you.”
“Why?” he asked as his starry eyes gazed deeply into your soul.
“Because—I was—I am scared.”
Jungkook raised his eyebrow, unsure of why you’d be scared. “Scared of what?”
“I was scared that if I called you and we talked—old feelings would resurface, and I don’t want to make the same mistakes again.”
“You still have feelings for me?”
“I think so? I’m—I’m not sure,” you stammered. “That’s why I didn’t call you in the first place when I knew I was coming to LA, and then when I happened to bump into you—well, I guess what I’m trying to say is that yes, I still have feelings for you.”
His eyes fell to the floor, and he sucked in his lips, trying not to smile, before looking back at you. “Am I the mistake?”
You shook your head. “You were never a mistake.”
“Then what mistakes are you referring to?”
You hung your head and sat back down, and Jungkook followed suit. You nibbled on the inside of your cheek, and he looked at you, waiting for an answer.
“I don’t know. Me—falling too fast, building fantasies inside my head, knowing it’ll never be real, not saying how I feel, pushing away people who love me. Should I keep going?”
“So, you didn’t want to call me and come here because you were scared all that’s gonna happen if you talked to me? Is that right?”
It sounded ridiculous, but he hit the nail on the head.
You hummed.
There was the slimmest chance of you bumping into Jungkook while in the same city, but you hadn’t fully prepared yourself if you did bump into him. You weren’t ready for the unresolved feelings and the smallest flutters of butterflies, your body to warm up to the simplest of accidental touches and soft giggles.
You could’ve just sucked it up, called an Uber, returned to your hotel, and tried to brush off the slimy interaction with the Netflix exec, but instead, you called the one person you knew would bring you comfort—Jungkook.
Should you just be completely honest and bare your soul? You were halfway there. Maybe it was time to grow up and just say what the fuck you wanted.
Jungkook was silent and waited to see if you had anything else.
You cleared your throat, thinking it was now or never.
“Our breakup,” you paused to recollect yourself and to stop your lips from quivering so much. You started again, “Our breakup—it really fucked me up. You left without saying goodbye, and after that, I kind of spiraled—drinking every day, showing up late to set, and ditching our friends. Hell—I almost let some random guy fuck me in a bathroom.”
You sighed. “I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad, but I needed to go through all those things to be where I am today. I’ve done a lot of work on myself and had a lot of healing through therapy, a solo trip, and some new friends–okay, just one new friend, but that's beside the point–I just don’t want to go back to the same person I was before.”
Jungkook opened his mouth to speak, but you stopped him.
“I’m not saying that being here with you again will make me become the person I was before—I just want to make better decisions being the new person I am now.”
Finally, hearing how you felt after all this time relieved him. He had waited so long for you to finally share yourself with him.
Jungkook’s mouth moved from side to side, nibbling on his bottom lip before he spoke, “I’m sorry I left without saying goodbye. The weekend in Jeju really fucked me up. So much was happening with Taehyung and Hyunie’s wedding, and then we were on the brink of breaking up while pretending to be happy. My heart and my mind were all over the place. Then I saw you with Yoongi, and that really sent me over the edge because that’s when I knew I had lost you and could never get you back—no matter how hard I tried, I don’t think anything would’ve worked. So—I left.”
Your jaw tightened, trying to hold back tears as Jungkook recounted his side of the story. You didn’t know he saw you with Yoongi; it must’ve been shortly after you returned from Jeju. And as much as you were hurting, so was he.
Well, since both of you were in apology mode.
“I’m sorry too,” you said. “Growing up, it was only me. I had to do everything myself because my parents weren’t really there for me, and so I always felt like I didn’t want to bother others with my burdens. I know it’s not an excuse, but I’m slowly learning that I don’t have to do everything alone—that it’s okay to ask for help. So, I’m sorry I never communicated well and kept things from you.”
He licked his lips, thinking about how new this was all for him—you baring your feelings. “No, that makes sense. I get it.”
“You do?”
“I mean—I’m not perfect either. We both made mistakes, but you’re wrong about one thing.”
You raised your eyebrow. “What’s that?”
“You had me and Yuna, and you know my mom loves you like you’re her own. She might love you more than she loves me,” he said. “And you know you can always tell me what’s going on. I’ll always be here for you—no matter what happens between us.”
You grinned because he was right. You had overlooked the huge part that their family played in your life. You couldn’t discount that.
“If there’s one thing I truly regret from all of this—it’s cutting ramen out of my diet since I’ve moved here,” he joked to lighten the mood.
You dramatically gasped, covering your mouth. “You cut ramen from your diet? It’s like I don’t even know you anymore.”
The two of you giggled.
“I guess we’ve both done some growing up, huh?” Jungkook knocked his knee into yours.
“Yeah, looks like it.”
“So, what now?”
You shrugged, unsure of Jungkook’s feelings, but you wanted to express yours. “I don’t want to wake up one day and regret not trying again. I want you. I want all of you, but I'm scared—scared that I'll get hurt and go back to my old ways. I’ve had a lot of healing, and I'm in a good place, but seeing you again, being near you, makes me want to forget everything that has happened and jump in your arms and tear off your clothes.”
Jungkook covered his mouth as he silently chuckled at your confession.
“Are you basking in my misery?” you sneered.
His lips turned into a pout as he shook his head. “No, I just—this is what I wanted all along while we were dating.”
“What? Me acting like a fool?”
“No—you telling me how you feel, tell me how much you want me, to claim me as yours.”
You opened your mouth and made a face. “You want me to grovel? Get on my knees?”
Jungkook bit his tongue when you got down on your knees in front of him. He had to tell himself and his dick to calm the fuck down because it was not the time and place to be thinking of such naughty things.
You gazed up at him; seeing him squirm was fun. “You like me on my knees?” you asked, sitting back on your legs.
He cleared his throat, adjusting his sweats as he shifted back on the couch. He thought back to the very first time you sucked him off after having dinner with Yuna and your mom. “I’m sorry. I think you were confessing your love for me. Go on. I’m all ears.”
You smacked his thigh. “I’m—you’re ruining this moment!”
“I’m ruining it? You’re the one who got down on your knees! You know how much I love that,” he mumbled the last of his words.
You turned and cupped your ear toward him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t catch that.”
“Just—go on. You were saying?” He cocked his head to the side, waiting for you.
You huffed, tilting your head back before landing on his sparkly doe eyes and cute little dimple peeking through. “I am stupidly in love with you, Jeon Jungkook, and I’ll do whatever it takes to be with you again.”
Jungkook felt a sense of relief when he heard those words, but there was still a small sliver of fear. “What if we’re just fooling ourselves into thinking this will work?”
“Then I guess we can be fools together.”
After baring your soul to Jungkook, you wanted nothing more than to jump into his lap and ride him like an endless merry-go-round, but you’ve changed and didn’t want to regret anything going forward with him. The two of you needed to take things slow and steady because you wanted to win the race.
The two of you stayed up late—talking, drinking beer, and catching each other up on life until the sun came up. It was like no time had passed, and you picked up right where you left off.
Bam had taken a liking to you, staying by your side, following you whenever you got up and moved around. He wouldn’t let you out of his sight. He definitely took after Jungkook.
The size of your bladder warranted another trip to the bathroom, and when you returned to where Jungkook and Bam were, you noticed Jungkook in a compromising position.
“Why are you on one knee? Are you taking a page out of my book?” you teased, not wanting to jump to any conclusions because you both agreed on taking it slow.
Without an answer, he took out something he was hiding behind his back. He held a blue velvet box in the palm of his hand.
Your eyes widened, and your heart raced rapidly because you knew exactly where that box was from. You and Yuna had looked at engagement rings for hours on end when the two of you thought Namjoon was getting ready to propose. You had mentioned it too many times to Jungkook while the two of you were dating. There’s no way he’d be proposing, right?
This whole thing with Jungkook was new—well, not really new, but you’d have to turn him down if he were to ask your hand in marriage. You were definitely not ready because the two of you had just agreed to try this relationship again.
“What the fuck is that? It better be a ring pop,” you implored. He slowly shook his head, beaming a smile from ear to ear. You repeated ‘no’ under your breath, shaking your head.
“You don’t even know what it is.”
“Oh—I know what it is!”
Jungkook leaned over on his knee toward you. “Okay, so tell me.”
“It’s—it’s the ring that I couldn’t stop talking about. Why do you have it?”
He giggled at how cute and flustered you had become. “For once, you’re wrong.”
“I’m never wrong,” you huffed.
He stood, making his way to you, lifting your chin with his index finger. He stared deeply into your eyes. “You are completely and utterly wrong.”
You pouted and crossed your arms. “Prove it.”
Jungkook sighed at how stubborn you were. He opened the blue velvet box, and it was not the ring you had envisioned. “It’s a promise ring.” Because it was the ring that complimented the engagement set.
You visibly gulped, and there was a sense of relief. “A promise ring?”
He nodded. “You are everything I could ever want and more. It’s always been you, and there’s gonna be no one else for me. You are worth walking through hell and back, and considering we’ve done that already—I’d do it again if I had to, but please, please—I don’t want to do it again,” he pleaded, making you smile. “If you’ll let me, I want to love you and show you I’m worthy of your love every day for the rest of my life.”
You found yourself grinning from ear to ear, loving his little declaration of love. You moved closer to him, looking at the ring and then at him. “I want to make this right—us. I was wrong for not fighting for you—for us, and I don’t want to make that mistake again.”
He pulled the ring from the box, grabbed your left hand, and placed the piece of jewelry on your finger. “We’re in this together—you and me.”
You glanced at the ring, smiling at how pretty it looked on your finger. “You and me.”
A lot has happened in the last 24 hours—you flew to LA, had your meeting, and rekindled your relationship with Jungkook. The last thing wasn’t anything you expected, but it became the silver lining to this short trip you were dreading in the first place.
The pair of you couldn’t stop smiling and giggling in the elevator up to your hotel room–mind you, you’d kept your distance from him the entire night, but it was becoming pure and complete utter torture.
Your time in LA was already coming to an end, and everything in you wanted to just leave your life behind and stay, but you had to resist; you had to fight it—at least for now.
“So,” you trailed off, unsure what to say to him.
“So,” he repeated, leaning next to your door.
You both smiled and laughed at the tension filling the hallway.
“Do you,” you paused to think through your words, “want to come in until I have to leave?” This was a good boundary, you thought–just until you had to leave for the airport.
Jungkook licked his lips, flipping his lip ring back and forth with his tongue. His eyes explored your face before landing on your lips. “I’d love to, but we know if I do, then you won't get anything packed, and you’ll for sure miss your flight.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes, and playfully smacked his chest. “I have no idea what you’re alluding to, mister.”
But you fucking knew and wanted it too.
He eliminated the distance between you, slowly caging you against the door. You closed your eyes when he gently caressed your cheek with the pad of his thumb. You had forgotten how much you had missed his touch—your body was glowing inside, illuminated from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. You wanted nothing but to savor this moment—a moment you thought ceased to exist, a moment you thought only existed in your reveries.
The tiny hairs on your skin, tingling, standing on their end in anticipation of an expected kiss. All this tension was killing you softly.
His other hand snaked around the nape of your neck, pulling you even closer. Your eyes fluttered open, watching his lips part, his breaths slowing down, and you were trying to remember if they were still soft and had the faintest taste of strawberry. And you wanted to gently tug on that silver piece of jewelry and hear him whine because of it.
Your stomach somersaults like there’s a gymnast going for the gold for the floor exercise when his body brushes against yours. The twitch in his black sweats is what really makes you melt and clench around nothing. It's been far too long since you've been touched, and he was the only one that could bring you pleasure.
“Can I kiss you?” His eyes are desperately darting back and forth between yours, waiting for your okay.
“Please,” you pleaded, almost inaudible if he wasn't so close.
He doesn’t go right in like you expected. He took his time, both hands cupping your face and your hands gripping his tiny waist like nothing had ever stopped between the two of you. The tip of his nose nudged yours, his lips lightly feathering across the top of your lips—not going in just yet. His warm hot breath fans the ever-growing desire within you. It was thrilling for him to rediscover everything he loved about you.
You closed your eyes in excitement, scrunching the bottom of his shirt in your hands. You slightly tugged on it, wanting him to hurry and just fucking kiss you already. You had never known him to be so careful, so gentle.
He giggled at your frustration. “I thought we were taking things slow.”
You deadpanned. “It’s too slow,” you whined, trying to reach for his lips, but he pulled back. “I thought you wanted to kiss me?”
Jungkook flashed a soft smile, his dimple on display. “I do.”
“Then shut up and do it already,” you pouted. You couldn't handle the teasing between you anymore. You wanted to make up for everything lost within the last year. If you had all the time in the world, you’d want him to do anything and everything to you, but that day would have to wait.
He tilted his head and leaned in; his nose nuzzled into the side of your face, and the deep yearning you’d hidden inside was released as his lips finally found yours. Lips on lips delicately caressing and wandering like the two of you were in a drought, in desperate search of food and water.
You gently nipped on his bottom lip, lightly pulling on his ring before kissing the side of his mouth. He grinned, thinking he’d get you back for that, not today but soon. Your hands traced the curves of his body, causing him to press himself further into you. The evident erection in his sweats tells you how much he was enjoying this too.
The kiss became heated and fervent, like an all-consuming fire taking everything in its path. Your hands are placed on his toned chest, holding on for dear life as he presses you against the door, breathing life back into you like your life depends on it.
You pulled back, gasping for air, but he leaned in, wanting just a bit more. You’re intoxicating, and he’s greedy. He’s a man starved from your touch and kisses. There’s no way he’ll ever let you go again. He’d fight for you until his very last breath.
Your arms drape around his neck, your fingers twirling and tugging at the ends of his long hair. You deepen the kiss, your warm tongue nipping at his mouth, begging for more access to him. Kissing isn't enough anymore. You needed him—all of him. To rediscover his deepest desires, wants, and needs was the only job you wanted right now.
Jungkook withdrew from your kiss. “You have to pack.”
You took a moment to catch your breath. “Or you can come inside and help me pack.” You moved in again for another kiss, but he resisted.
“I would love that, but…” he trailed off, letting the desire within subside.
Your lips thinned. “But then we wouldn’t be taking it slow, would we?” He nods. “I should pack.”
He leaned in to quickly give you a peck on the lips. “Mm, you should.”
Your shoulders slump, and you tilt your head against the door. “But I don’t want to.”
“But you have to.” You groaned and stomped your feet like baby Indie. “I’ll see you soon.”
“Not soon enough.”
bonus (jk pov - hotel)
“Sorry, I got here early, but some lady was taking forever to get her luggage,” the driver said as Jungkook’s colleague opened the door.
"You coming?" His colleague asked from inside the car.
"...uh, you go on without me. I left my phone inside. I'll catch an Uber."
His colleague shrugged and shut the door behind him before the car took off. Jungkook stood before the hotel's entrance, unsure whether to enter or just leave.
He thought he saw you while waiting outside the restaurant, but he figured it was just his eyes playing tricks on him. Even if it was really you, he wasn't sure he was ready to face you, let alone know what to say. He abruptly left without explaining his actions. He didn't think when he did it, which was a stupid, rash decision he later regretted. He couldn't bear the heartache of being so close to you.
The plan was to get as far away as possible so he could forget, but the problem was that he couldn't. You were the love of his life (yes, even at the tender age of 25). He had no desire for anyone else. Even when gorgeous women were flinging themselves at him in this new city. He wasn't concerned with them because they weren't you.
Everything made him think of you. From peonies to hot tubs and even bowling. He'd go back and say goodbye if he could. He despised the way things ended.
Before he knew it, his foot had stepped past the sliding glass door, heading in, unsure of where even to begin. He began his search as he walked through the lobby, peering at the reception desk.
He noticed a woman standing at the counter. Maybe your hair had grown out. Approaching the woman, he tapped them on the shoulder. "Noona..."
When the woman turned around, Jungkook quickly apologized before returning and going on the hunt for you. You may have already gone to your room, but he wasn't about to give up so easily. He'd be sorry if he missed you by a millisecond. Could his eyes be deceiving him? Maybe he didn't see you just standing there. Maybe he missed you so much that he imagined everything.
He told himself he'd look for ten minutes before giving up and going home. He walked around the lobby, past the reception desk, down the hallway, and even took the elevator up a few floors before returning down.
He was sure the workers thought he was creeping around and wouldn't be surprised if they had called security. He only had a few minutes before calling it quits and heading home. He walked past the restaurant he was just at, then took a few steps back.
What if you had gone to get a drink?
It didn't take long for him to notice you sitting alone at the bar, waving the bartender down to order. His eyes were not deceiving him; he was not insane.
It was you.
You were absolutely stunning, he thought. Even after a year apart, you’d become more beautiful than ever. He needed a moment to take you all in because he didn’t think he’d ever see you again—here in LA.
Every heartbeat was like a metronome, keeping in sync with every step he took toward you. He drew a deep breath and closed his eyes as he stood behind you, his mind racing with the right words—what would he say after a year?
“Is this seat taken?”
Fuck—if he could, he’d punch himself. He could’ve come up with something better.

[ (just a) bad day ]
couple: son heungmin x reader rating: PG tags: hurt, comfort, talks about beheading (yeah) from the drama my liberation notes. notes: the newcastle game was a massacre. i don't have the heart to have him say "i'm alright, i'm fine" because he wouldn't lie like that. but i just need to know that heungmin will have someone hold him tight and take him home. please listen to agust d's snooze, that's what i had quoted at the end. thanks. please support son heungmin's future. it will get better.
/
Before the final whistle blows, you are already down the tunnel, down the hall, expression grim as you scan the treatment room. Ryan finds you like this, his own expression ashen, having aged ten years through the match himself.
He’s in Treatment Room A. Hesitation. …I think he wants to be alone.
You thank Ryan but pay no heed to the message.
He’s not the one you need to see.
/
“Don’t.”
It is the first word shared in that dim, empty room and it forces you to stop in your tracks. Heungmin’s voice is rough and torn and tight. Your hand falters by the light switch before, finally, falling back to your side. You let him sit in the darkness, face illuminated only by the faint light that hums above the emergency exit.
You can barely recognize him in the darkness, but still you go to him.
“Don’t,” he repeats, more forcefully this time. “Stop.”
Still, you go to him.
From where he sits, his knees bump against your thighs and he resolutely refuses to give way. You step into his space regardless. As your eyes adjust to the darkness, his face finally comes into view. He has screwed his eyes shut now, mouth pressed into a grim line. You reach up to trace the faint scar above his eye, but hesitate, not quite touching him just yet.
You’ve been through so much.
What can I do to make this better?
Tell me where it hurts. I would take it all away if I could.
The words sit on the very tip of your tongue but you swallow them down. They are not the words he wants or needs to hear right now. He does not need to hear you ask how he feels or if he’s alright or if this is still the game that he has loved his whole goddamn life. He does not need your sympathy. He does not need your pity.
Right now, all he needs is…
“So. Bad day, huh?”
Your comment seems to come as such a surprise that he chokes out a pained laugh despite himself.
The sound is so sudden that it seems to startle the both of you equally – and then Heungmin’s eyes are open and he’s staring at you, eyes shining, disbelief clear as day on his face.
“What?” he chokes out, half-laugh and half-groan.
The pain is still evident on his face and this time you let yourself touch the scar. You press down on it slightly, tracing it with the very tip of your finger. He slowly reaches up, long fingers wrapping around your wrist. You half expect him to push your hand away.
He doesn’t.
He lets you linger there, his grip warm around your wrist and your touch gentle against his skin.
“Yeah,” he finally whispers back, incredulous laughter gone now. Something softening in his expression. “Had a real shit day today.”
You let your hand slide down until your palm cradles his cheek. He moves with you, grip never leaving yours as he leans into your touch. He swallows thickly and you can hear it in the silence that sits between you. Your own eyes prickle with the heat and promise of oncoming tears, but you swallow that down with him too.
His hair is still damp from the showers and he smells of your shampoo. A stray droplet lands on the back of your hand. Still, you do not move away.
“I know,” you whisper into the darkness. “I know.”
(You had been watching a drama a few months back.
The woman on the television screen had a crazed look in her eyes, sitting across the cafe table from her blind date, explaining why she was dubbed the Pick Up Girl by all of her friends.
Once, with my friends, we were talking about what true love was. I was reminded of something I saw in a textbook when I was a child. It was about a woman who ran to pick up the severed head of her husband in her skirt.
When I was young, it was too gruesome for me to understand. But now, as an adult, I found myself agreeing. Yes, I would pick it up. I would have to pick it up. I can’t let it fall to the ground, I must catch it in my skirt.
Heungmin had burst out laughing, then. The man sitting across from her in the scene appeared horrified, but Heungmin had only appeared delighted.
He had pressed a loud raspberry to the side of your neck then.
“Would you catch me too?” he had teased, nosing into the crook of your shoulder, your neck, your jaw, mouth dragging along the skin there as he laughed loudly. You had laughed back, shivering at the ticklish touch.
It had been a joke then.
But today, you were reminded of it.
Perched in the stands, watching his team go down in flames. Watching the light leave his eyes as more and more fans exited the stadium. Watching as his shoulders heaved beneath the heavy weight of loss and failure and disappointment.
Several family members had looked away by then. His agent had slumped back in his seat, scrolling through his phone anxiously, clearly anticipating the press and media that would be awaiting him at the end of the tunnel.
Only Heungmin’s father and you had kept watching.
You did not look away. You refused to look away. Even when the booing only grew exponentially in volume, even when his teammates fumbled yet another horrible, horrible ball. You kept your eyes on the game, you kept your eyes on him. Only when his number appeared on the screen to be subbed out, did you finally let out the breath you had been holding.
Heungmin hadn’t spared a second glance towards your box when he was subbed out. You couldn’t blame him. He probably hadn’t had the heart to look.
If he had looked… if he had looked back at you…
If he had looked back: he would’ve seen you looking right back at him. He would’ve seen you finally, slowly, sitting back down in your seat, his father taking his seat beside you as well.
His father hadn’t said much in the box – he never did.
But when his hand had found yours in your lap, grip tight, you knew he was saying more than words ever could.
Thank you. Thank you for watching Heungmin until the very end. Thank you for catching Heungmin, even when the world waits to tear him apart, limb by limb. Thank you. Thank you.
If your throat hadn’t been so tight, you would’ve responded: Don’t thank me. I will always watch him. I will always catch him.
Instead, you had simply covered his hand with your own.
The truest love there ever was.)
Heungmin finally shifts. He parts his legs, lets you slide between them until you are flush against him, even from where he sits on this treatment table.
You let both of your arms reach up and around his neck, wrapping around his shoulders, his own dropping to fold around your waist. His grip is almost painfully tight as he burrows into you, solid and warm. His heartbeat thrums in your ear and you match your own breaths to the sound.
“I know,” you repeat again, voice muffled against the soft fabric of his tee. “I’m here, I’m right here.”
He holds onto you like a man drowning.
I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.
“Let’s go home.”

out of the three (four? if you wanna include ridonculous race) noah appeared in, which one do you think noah could have won if he cared about the competition
hot take; none of them.
he did care about the competition (at least somewhat) in the first season and it was objectively his worst. in island, he was too blinded by his own hubris to consider the fact that he was, for all intents and purposes, isolating himself in a socially driven competition. he was standoffish and rude, which would've been fine if he hadn't outright directed negative attention to himself with his comments AND refusal to participate in the dodgeball challenge, and he offered little in terms of both teamwork and team utility anyway. so being voted out early was a given, and a much needed wake-up call for him.
he didn't compete in season 2, but if he did i doubt he'd make it to the finale. i'd like to say he'd make it pretty far into action- both because action has a lot more technology and media references, which noah could play to his advantage as both an established nerd and a canonical hacker (though these aspects of him are mostly delegated to his biographies/interviews outsode of the show itself), and because we know he does learn from his mistakes in season 1 so he'd try to be a better teammate (like he does in season 3). but i truly and honestly don't think he'd stand a chance against powerhouses like courtney and duncan, or have even a smidge of beth and owen's in-competiton social game/likability, so he'd eventually be voted out.
and in season 3, as much as i disagree with the amazons winning the challenge, getting rid of noah there and then was the right play from a narrative standpoint. because, at the end of the day, he's a filler character. he doesn't have any engaging plotlines of his own to warrant keeping him around, and his only real use from a writing standpoint is to make snide comments and witty one-liners; when the remaining cast all have at least one subplot going for them, and you need to 'thin the herd', you get rid of the deadweight characters first.
by world tour, i believe he's only competing for the sake of it, and he doesn't really care about winning or losing; if anything i'd say he only went along with the celebrity manhunt bus chase because he was supposed to stay with chris/the total drama crew, and since he was fired from being chris' assistant he didn't have anything better to do (he's always been a passive character, so going along with the crowd for curiosities sake is very much something he would do).
but if he did care?
i think he'd make it to early merge. a noah who cares about the competition would try to take down alejandro for the sake of his own survivability (after all, how long is it going to be until team victory is gone and alejandro turns on his own teammates as his next targets?) thus making himself plot relevant enough to keep around- maybe even allying himself with heather to do so. but alejandro, whilst not as smart as noah, is far more savvy and capable than him, and their 'rivalry' would end in noah being voted out.
or maybe he'd embrace his villain-coding (watch island again and tell me he isn't villain-coded. he does a "mwu-ha-ha" laugh and says "excellent." he's so campy bond antagonist coded in island) and ally himself with alejandro to garuntee his survivability, helping him weed out the competition as a right-hand man. eventually, alejandro would discard noah- either because noah would refuse to help him eliminate owen, or because they'd make their way far enough into the competition that noah becomes less of an ally and more of a threat and have him eliminated accordingly. because noah might be the villain, but alejandro's the archvillain.
that, and i think the finalists of each season are already the best picks from their rosters. i wouldn't change any of them to give one sarcastic twink the chance of winning.
(i haven't seen ridonculous race but i'm fairly certain caring about the competition is part of his character arc in it? he comes in guns blasing and then gets sidetracked by being smitten with emma, at least that's my understanding of it. so nothing would change there.)
#listen i love noah but he doesn't deserve a win#this loser only takes Ls sorry i don't make the rules (yes i do)#total drama#td noah#ophe's hot takes#character analysis#replies#typed this on my phone so sorry for any grammar/spelling errors 😥

hey it's the anon who asked what dr*m did,
I decided to do my own research (mainly cause I was curious) but... I can't find much? let me rephrase it - I did find the allegations from 6ish months ago, that he's going to court with one(?) of them, but that's... all? I didn't find the court's verdict, confirmations, or him admitting either... and any post or video I find has both the OP and the comments mostly on his side and believing that it's either not true or true but not grooming, even people who say they're not his fans or don't even like him.
so Im not sure if the confirmation didn't reach youtube or if I'm searching wrong or something?
but honestly while researching I realized that I cant stand him lmao, gotta agree with some comments I read - he made a mistake by showing more of his personality online, looks like any time he can handle a situation wrong/respond wrong he does it
so dunno, guess I didnt find the confirmation but at least now I don't find his old minecraft videos interesting anymore so theres that
Yeah he can't act properly to save his fucking life
Also I think most of the threads on Twitter and stuff that have all the proof he's guilty/etc is probably long buried, unfortunately. You could probably try to ask around saying you're trying to get the whole picture but tbh it's not a huge deal if you can't. You can try searching my blog but Tumblr sucks with that shit. The fact that this and his other controversies have been buried and lost to the void of the internet is typical white boy with a monstrously big platform shit so I'm not surprised. I never heard any details about court (prob for legal reasons) or a conviction either. All I know is there was screenshot proof from the victim that they talked, and Dr*m confirmed the screenshots were real but didn't say anything about other details. But those details literally can't be false if the screenshots & the shit said in them are true.
Anyway, as far as his other bullshit goes:
People found old kkk meme edits on his yt account through the wayback machine. More than once if I'm not mistaken
He has a history of defending himself using the r slur
He cheated "on accident" in a speedrun (the least important thing ever but everyone always brings it up)
He claimed he was going to donate all proceeds during pride month to lgbt+ charities & he'd do charity streams all month but never did
He defended himself about replying to haters, which would send thousands of his toxic stans after the person getting them doxxed/death threats/etc and he refused to address that it was irresponsible of him bc he was too entitled to immaturely clap back at the antis. Even other ccs, like B/itzel called him out about shit related to how he uses his platform irresponsibly & he unfollowed & shaded them like a bitch baby
The whole "accidental" copycat shit with QSMP/USMP and basically softcore stalking Q/uackity online.
His "apologies" for all of the above fucking sucked in multiple ways. And that's just 2021-Now shit I can remember off the top of my head, I lost my Twitter in May last year so now I get my info from people's posts about it on here or links to tweets.
Everyone largely suspects he spontaneously reignited d/smp lore & started the finale to cover up the groomer thing bc he has a history of doing smth "new and cool" every time he causes drama to divert attention and avoid accountability.
He's also suspected of suddenly rewriting the d/smp finale to paint his Irredeemable Abuser Villain Up Until The Last Stream as a sympathetic poor baby out of nowhere and wrote that his victim, c!Tommy apologized to him, which sends a HORRIBLE message about abusive relationships. T/ommy and T/ubbo have both subtly mentioned not liking the finale and that Dr*m had AWFUL communication during the last like 6+ months of the smp.
He also suddenly showed up in T/ubbo's chat lurking while T/ubbo happened to be mentioning he'd do his own research on the grooming situation instead of blindly siding with Dr*m and it was some shit out of a horror movie is2g, he suddenly dmed T/ubbo out of nowhere during it on discord saying they'd talk about it after T/ubbo wasn't streaming. Basically sounds like he was gonna bias T/ubbo about his innocence. Like he hadn't been in chat all stream long but SUDDENLY he was there the second the topic came up. But the d/smp ccs also can't say anything about the situation since it's a legal matter, so a handful of ccs have just stated/implied they don't support him other ways
He only quit MCC bc he threw a tantrum about how he couldn't practice for it but now that MCC island exists, people were getting better than him. He's habitually a sore loser about that kinda shit
He's got that whole weird "is he, isn't he" bullshit going on about him being lgbt. I personally think he's just catering to his stupid d/n/f shippers bc they like to truth their relationship & sexuality all the time and he's never explicitly said he's bi or smth. He's just vaguely been like "yeeeaahhhh I mostly like girls like 99% but maaaayyybeee I like guys idkkkk. 🤪" But he's also done that multiple times so who tf knows. I'm not gonna fully dismiss him & I understand no one including me is entitled to his specific sexuality, but he has garbage credibility on like everything so I'm neutral on the matter and find it hard to believe him
Not directly him related, but his stans went on a long and horrifying witch hunt on Twitter during the kkk ordeal doxxing, death threatening & harassing ENTIRE mcyt subtwts who spoke out against him and called him out on his racism, performative activism, shitty apology, etc. For example, I was part of S/neeg's subtwt and all my mutuals and me had to go private to avoid getting doxxed. It felt like being raided in some dystopian ass horror film. Entire subtwts were going private, panicking, paranoid they'd get outed & stalked & harassed by people just for condemning racism, raising Black voices, etc. It was borderline traumatic to some people, I know people who lost sleep over it bc they were so afraid.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head but the end of 2021 to early 2022 was a fucking nightmare between him being an immature entitled piece of shit and his stans blindly defending him and going out of their way to endanger people who rightfully opposed him.
#dream situation#<- this tag on Tumblr might be really helpful to you actually. a lot of ppl tag posts about current drm drama with it#if you go back far enough you might find threads about the allegations and stuff

(Untitled Work)
Pairing: Joel Miller x Australian Female Reader
Note: First draft. Brought to you by this idea.
Masterlist
Note 2: If there is an idea you want to stick into this. And you want me to write in the final product. Leave a comment on it in this google doc. It's labelled Joel Miller x Boomer and its the only tab underneath it.
Content Warnings: Idk just yet. So if you're uncomfortable with no content warnings please skip until I upload a completed version.
If anyone told him yesterday that his wife had a half-sister who was built like a strongwoman and worked in the SASR. He would have laughed at them like they were talking in tongues. Iris never told him about her. He assumed she was dead or not in contact with her anymore.
Until one Sunday morning, Joel came face to face with a six foot-four woman built like a brick shit house. You were there to help around the place, your skill in carpentry were ‘needed’ according to your half sister. You wouldn’t speak all that much, quiet, shy. Keeping your words you would have added in with your ‘Hello’s to yourself.
You didn’t want to be seen as rude, but you certainly didn’t want to get the impression you were going to be walked all over either. Whenever someone asked for help, you didn’t hesitate to get up and go over. No matter how small the issue was. You didn’t care if it seemed pedantic. You just wanted to help out.
Whenever Joel entered the room, you made an excuse to leave and help out your sister. You didn’t want to make things awkward between him and you. He’s your half-sister’s husband. Any possibility of anything ‘happening’ between you two wasn’t going to happen. Not on your watch. You weren’t going to break your sister’s heart like that. You weren’t going to become your mother and become a home wrecker.
Joel overheard the conversation between you and your half-sister, Iris, “I haven’t thought about it. I don’t think I tried again. Most people assume something’s wrong with you once you tell them you’re a virgin at thirty-five.” you said, tapping a hammer against a nail on the floorboard. Adding another nail to prevent it from squeaking whenever someone stepped on that part of the floor.
“And not to mention. I don’t want to become like our mother. The woman cheated on my father. I don’t want to become that kind of person.” she added with an exasperated sigh.
Iris raised an eyebrow at her sister’s statement, “What makes you think you’d end up like her?”
“Karmic retribution or somethin? I don’t know. I told her, ‘I don’t see you the same way anymore. I don’t respect cheaters, no matter the reason you might have had. You ruined this home by yourself.’ That’s what I told her. To be fair, I think you would have been at least one or two at the time. So you wouldn’t remember it even if you wanted to.” you answered, your nose scrunched up as you were deep in thought.
Iris’s father was and still his Andrew’s older brother, Marcus, you haven’t spoken to him since you were nine. You haven’t planned to either.
People loved to call you intense because of your silence, yet refuse to understand why you always remained silent was to prevent yourself from talking about yourself too much. You didn’t want your own family drama to spread like an uncontainable virus. Your family has hurt enough people already.
Dragging people unrelated to it seemed like a bad idea. Not just a bad idea. But an absolutely terrible one.
“I heard your father banned my father from attending his funeral.” Iris told you.
“Yeah. It was one of his last wishes.” you replied. “I’m guessing your father wasn’t pleased when I told him not to come. I was twenty-four at the time.”
Iris decided to reveal what happened when you called her father the week after your father died. “You know, you called him. Do you remember that?”
“Yeah, I remember that I called him about the fact that Andrew had passed away. I told him he didn’t want him to be there at his funeral. He didn’t want him there to drag up old issues and that it was his last wish.” you answered. “Why do you ask? He stayed away like his brother asked, which was something I guess.”
Andrew was your father. Raised you by himself with the extra help from his younger sister, but for the most part it was just him.
It wasn’t your fault you had the same eye colour, the same sharp jawline, and the same intense quiet anger as your father whenever you bit your tongue. The urge to snap at someone remained behind your eyes.
You took over cooking duties because Iris was a new mother. You weren’t going to let her lift a finger. Not if you could help it. A mother with divided attention was a stressed mother. So you were happy to take over cooking duties.
Slow cooked beef stews, sautéd salmon steaks, whatever her craving was, you made to itch it.
Weird craving for pickles? You had a jar of it ready in the fridge.
Odd craving for wagyu beef burgers? You'd whip out your secret recipe faster than a gunslinger in the wild west.
Strange need for pumpkin soup? You had it simmering on the stove, the sweet aroma wafting through the house.
Unusual need for a charcuterie board of exotic meats and cheeses at two in the morning? You had the deli's number on speed dial.
Nothing seemed out of reach, too strange, too odd, or even unusual when it came to food for you. You loved food more than anything. Perhaps your father had something to do with it. But you never knew what it was. And you still don’t.
When you bought a second fridge to put his beer into to make more room for fresh veggies and fruit? It was also at the same time you put in the green house for the hydraulic garden in the backyard one morning. He heard the gentle tapping of the hammer against the old shed.
You had already started working on it two hours before he woke up, with precision, power and intensity. Parts of the old shed pulled apart and in its place was a gleaming, new structure slowly taking its place.
You knew your sister’s place was a fixer-upper. But you didn’t care. All you saw was a way to become helpful. A way to be able to help someone. While you did the heavy lifting. They had enough time to spend with their children.
“It’ll take you months.” Iris complained.
“I don’t care how long it’ll take. As long as it's done.” you stated. “You toddle off, I’ll handle the rest.”
Which you did, you handled the harder stuff, you worked from dawn to sunset. The long hours didn’t particularly bother you as much as your sister thought it would. It wasn’t like she was forcing you to do all this work.
As the greenhouse slowly came together, the structure taking shape from the remnants of the old shed and the careful introduction of newer materials to help keep the formation of the new structure to prevent it collapsing into itself.
It wasn’t just the greenhouse, it was the serious look on her face when she brought in new things like the bar fridge for the basement. Beside the old bar fridge that she managed to find in the fridge, putting Joel’s beer into it.
“Why’d you do that?” Joel asked, peering at the sleek, black fridge with a faux leather exterior that you had somehow managed to get downstairs.
“Would you rather have it upstairs? I don’t think Iris would appreciate a second fridge so close to the bigger one.” you answered.
“I got a couch for down here too.” you pointed to the dark brown leather couch in the middle of the two bar fridges.
Joel nodded, “It’s a good spot for it. I’ve been meaning to turn this into a man cave for a while. Didn’t think I’d get the help though.”
The bookshelf with the vinyl records sorted in alphabetical order came in before you brought the couch down there. The record player beside it confirmed it.
Things were slowly coming together, the more time you spent there, the longer you worked on fixing things. Adding small things to help out in the long term.
The more additional things you spent time adding things like shelving for his tools, a desk for when he worked from home, a place to sit and read his books.
A place to put his laptop and charge his phone, a place to charge his guns. You had noticed the small things that Joel enjoyed, like the way he always had a book in hand or the way his eyes lit up when he talked about his job. You were meticulous in your approach, ensuring that everything had a place and purpose.
