You tried your best, really, but after hours of studying, you can't read another page. Calling your boyfriend seems like a good idea for a small break: Seonghwa is silly & loves to surprise you, even in the middle of a call but he wouldn't do that, right?

Seonghwa’s face was close as he answered, and the moment he moved back, you tilted your head. It wasn’t only that your boyfriend was literally one of the most beautiful (if not the most) person you ever encountered but lately, he put in quite some time at the gym, something you supported since you knew it mattered to him. 

His beautiful long hair fell in waves around his face and he showed a little more skin than you were used to from his otherwise comfy home outfits. Did he wear makeup? Now that was new for hometime.

“Hello stunning man, what are you doing?” you chuckled but Seonghwa pressed an index finger against his lips before he scribbled something down on a paper, holding it to the camera.

Have a favor to ask but too nervous, I’ll show you.

You briefly remembered that he was asking if he could call you a little later in the evening, something you answered with your usual ‘absolutely’.

There was no way you’d never wish to speak to the one you loved. “Go ahead.”

Seonghwa inhaled loudly as he took his phone and walked over. A moment later you saw a small scene set up in Lego, the two Lego figures he liked to use representing each other, a pink bunny and an orange cat. They were what seemed to be in Seonghwa’s bedroom, holding hands. 

He took them, moving over, same set up but there were little hearts put on the walls and you were amazed how your boyfriend owned enough blocks to build the same scene several times. Seonghwa was moving behind the table, trying not to be caught by the camera but you watched him biting his lips nervously.

The next one was what made you gasp a little because slowly, you noticed this wasn’t a cute show playing your love confession which did in fact happen at his place but something else.

Oh, he would not do that, would he?

There was a hold, noises in the background of how he was obviously doing something, accidentally knocking off the small couch your figure was meant to sit on. He muttered something, sighing, before just putting you there and a moment later, his little figure was holding a toy box with a ring too big for it.

Then, very slowly and carefully, Seonghwa put little sticky notes on the back wall of the little Lego room.

‘I’m shy and silly but maybe you want to marry me?’

You could see the hint of red ears as he was hiding behind the little Lego room, blinking as the videocall was filled with silence.

You never imagined receiving a proposal in such a fashion but if anything, this was very Seonghwa, who always got nervous and never gave himself the credit he deserved.

“My silly boyfriend, what’s the hesitation? Of course, I want to marry you Hwa!” you breathed and he smiled, getting up, knocking the entire legoset over.

“I am sorry, he called out to the figures before grabbing his phone tightly. 

“Open the drawer, second from the bottom, small blue box,” he whispered and you blinked, moving over to do so. He must have hidden it there last time he stayed over, knowing you barely ever opened the drawer with old photo books.

And there it was, a small case with a ring. It looked a little higher budget than you knew Hwa would have so he must have saved up for it for quite some time.

“Hey, are you crying?” he sounded alarmed and you noticed how he was on outside now, chasing down the street.

Seonghwa only lived ten minutes away from you.

“Oh sush, I am just … it’s beautiful, I love it,” you promised and saw him smiling although he was running.

“Just promise me, when we get married, you will be there,” you laughed, rubbing over teary eyes.

“Of course, I will be there. For the rest of our lives,” he promised in his softest voice.

“It fits perfectly, meant to forever be there,” you looked at the ring, showing it to him and Seonghwa was beyond excited.

“I am sure, this beats the lame ring in a cake proposal your friend received,” he joked and you could hear how he used a key to unlock the door.

“Absolutely, the best, very Hwa,” you smiled and turned around.

Seonghwa was by your side within a second, pulling you into an embrace.

"I love you," you whispered, smiling at him. Seonghwa gently cupped your face and kissed you.

Writers and audience impact

I hate hate hate when the writers/ producers/ directors wait for the audience's reaction to see if they should push a pairing in or not.

Like wtf? By the time they get our reaction, we have already been fed a story. And some of us will have loved it and others hated it but it was the story they created. Changing the pairing later based on the fandoms is so f* stupid.

I have stopped watching countless of tv shows because of this.

Examples: Vampire diaries. I really liked it at that time of my life. And I liked Stefan and Elena. They were a bit too lovey-dovey and boring? Yes, but I liked them. The story was about them. The books too. But because Damon was more handsome and sexier and had, according to the audience, better chemistry with Elena, they decided to give what the audience preferred, going against the original book.

The 100 is an odd example. Everyone loved Bellamy and Clarke, they are also the romantic pairing in the book. But the tv show created such a deep profound connection between them that was better than the book. It was an enemies-to-lovers trope developed to perfection. But what did they do? They destroyed it in what seems to be a clear defiance of what the public loved and the book. It made no sense at all. I stopped watching when I realized it was going in that direction and decided to wait for the finale. And I'm so glad I did. Horrible thing. I hate even the memory of having loved it.

Another example. Never have I ever. Yes, Paxton was the hot boy that we should begin to hate at some point in a very cliché fashion. And Ben is the rival that will become a friend and then a lover. All good. But then they developed Paxton and Paxton was ten thousand times better than Ben. And by the end of season 1 and particularly season 2, I was sure Team Paxton had won. But I was wrong. There comes the shift. For 2 seasons I loved Devi and Paxton but then all that development and fairytale-like ending is put into the garbage and I am supposed to pretend it never happened because now the main pairing is Ben and Devi. I did not watch season 3 and season 4. To me, it ended in season 2 and what an amazing ending it was.

So yes, I was afraid that House of the Dragon would be the same. They created a story between Daemon and Rhaenyra in season 2 that was special and magical in a very hauntingly gothic fashion. It was perfection, the chemistry, the between-the-lines feelings, the desire, the attraction, the frustration. My god, we could feel it all. And every episode was so exciting because of that. People loved it, not everyone, but most people loved it. People were in love with Daemyra and with Daemon and with Matt Smith. There were hundreds of videos on youtube, pages on the internet talking about it, it was everywhere. It couldn't have been more successful. But the writers somehow, despite creating such a beautiful thing, were surprised that the public loved it so much. So they came out saying: you're seeing it wrong. Daemon is mean, evil, selfish and cruel and you need to see that. So they create a season 2 to make us hate daemon, to make us fall out of love with Daemyra. Yet they were fearful of pushing it too far so they still gave us a happy ending to keep us satisfied. But are they waiting to see if we have given up on Daemyra and would be more open to other pairings that they wish to introduce? I want to believe they won't do it, but do I trust it 100%? Of course not. Similarly, they are giving contrary information about Helaemond to see how we react and if they can push it or move away from it in season 3. I also think they didn't make Rhaena claim sheepstealer to see how fans would react to the potential elimination of Nettles. And I hate that they do it! Just be consistent, for god's sake! Write the damn story as you did before knowing how the public would react but be consistent with what you started.

So a very minor nitpick on Helluva Boss….

I know I said I should only ramble with a sideblog for Helluva boss and Hazbin hotel to put a lot of u criticisms in (it’s not gonna be like an anti blog or anything, the show is still very much a guilty pleasure for me) but I just feel like getting this out of my system

I recalled seeing a critical post about Helluva boss’s lack of music diversity and how we sadly don’t see much other music genres than generic pop songs and musical numbers… They mentioned how they wish they saw more metal music and all of that and it reminded me why I have a massive issue with the show’s misusage of the word goth.

I don’t think anyone outside of the goth subculture or most people (even critical blogs) know this, but goth isn’t really a fashion aesthetic. Just like with metal, punk, and grunge, it’s a music based subculture that originated from the punk movement during the late 70s and on forward gave birth to goth as we all know.

That being said, it’s why I have a massive issue with the show labeling Loona and Octavia being goth, when they literally don’t even show signs of listening to goth music (like the Bauhaus, The Cure..) and mostly just get emo or pop songs.

Loona to me just comes off more like an emo girl than a goth, not even a mallgoth (since mallgoths are more like metalheads) since she’s shown to like bands like My Chemical Romance and even the song when searching for Octavia gave odd 2000s emo vibe. Why couldn’t y’all just went with calling her emo instead of goth 🙃🙃🙃

Now Octavia to me, could come off as a baby bat exploring the goth subculture but she always plays pop music for her and idk… I get it, most baby bats won’t be familiar with goth music right away but idk it be nice to hear those themes.

That being said, Helluva Boss isn’t the only cartoon guilty of this. Majority of cartoons in general were always made by normie people and they don’t know much about the goth subculture and only relied on stereotypes normal people have about goths.

However, there are adult cartoons that actually did research better when writing goth characters and giving them more accurate music that fits them.

Take the South Park goth kids for an example

In their room, you notice a poster that’s called Skippy Puppy and the Blauhaus, which are spoof bands of real bands called Skinny Puppy and The Bauhaus which are two bands that are very much liked by goths (bauhaus being the first goth band that gave birth to goth, and skinny puppy is more industrial than goth, we consider that goth adjacent since back in the 90s, goth and industries music were very much mashed together in goth clubs )

Even by character designs, Michael and Henrietta were modeled after Robert Smith and Siouxsie Sioux, who were very much the big time iconic goth musicians.

Matt and Trey themselves are huge fans of the Cure and even had a cameo of Robert smith and even hung out with goths before, so you can see why they got a depiction of them to notch. And the whole thing with them and the vamp kids was a real thing that happened with the 90s with goths and mall goths, i suggestion checking out Angela Benedict’s video for that.

Another example is Venture Bros since Triana believe it or not, is very much an accurate depiction of a goth. And they even referenced bands like the Bauhaus, Alien, Nik Fiend, and Deathrock music as some of Triana’s interests.

But the big kicker is Triana herself, is voiced by Lisa friggin Hammer!

For anyone who doesn’t know, Lisa hammer was an iconic goth musician during the 90s and was in two ethereal wave bands known as Mors Siphlitica and Requiem in White. The fact they had her voice their goth character shows me they did their research.

Even Seth McFarlene got this right (yes you heard me) with American Dad with Debbie and her goth peers, not only making her a very down to earth person but they made their main theme “Love will Tear us Apart” from Joy Division

For those that may not know, Joy Division is one of the Big 5 of goth bands along with the the Bauhaus, the Cure, Sioxusie and the Banshees, and Sisters of Mercy. So I was surprised that Seth got this right, since he’s known to stereo things in his shows.

And of course we also have Daria, with having two goth characters and no I don’t mean Daria and Jane. (Having a cynical personality doesn’t make you a goth) But rather do I mean Andrea and Trent

And you may be thinking, but why Trent? He doesn’t even dress goth and just seems like he likes any music. While he’s that may be true, but I Remeber having this conversation with other goths in Instagram where we had a huge disccuin of goth characters in fiction. And one of my peers mentioned Trent also counts because he’s shown to have an interest in goth music if you look at his bedroom. So I thought I check out and what do you know

There’s a poster of Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy inside his bedroom :) and honestly guys, there are actual goths like this I knew in real life. Where they don’t dress the part but are still a huge fanatic of the music. Like you don’t need to dress all dark to be goth, that’s optional, you just really need to enjoy goth music to be goth.

And of course we have Serena from Downtown who actually was not only based off of a goth in real life, but she’s shown interests in goth bands like Dead Can Dance and a satire of Sisters of Mercy as shown here.

The Brothers of Creation is basically a parody of sisters of Mercy. But not only that, she even brought up on one episode how she got tired of goths being badly judged and stereotyped by others (even being lumped by Masonites, which we all know how controversial Marilyn Manson was back then and how his fanbase ignited a horrible stereotype about goths. He was never a goth artist, but normies had the assumption that all goths are like him and his fanbase based on how they just dress similar to goths) and her annoyance with neckbeards that thirst over goth women just makes her relatable to me. Since sadly, there are many men that creep on goth women like us and we get tired of it.

Now honestly, it really should not be that hard to add some goth music to give for Loona and Octavia. They do that modern day humor so much with Instagram and tik tok, they literally could had use a parody of Dusty from Vision Video (who’s a very popular goth tik toker and even has his own bad that’s very similar to the cure) and given we have knowledge now, this amount of research to write goth characters SHOULD NOT BE THAT HARD.

But you know, all would be forgiven if they don’t have hints of liking goth music if they just made Loona a lot more likable. My main pet peeve with her is that she comes off as a negative stereotype of goths that a lot of us don’t like. It just gives normies a really bad idea of us that we are all shitty people.

So anyways rant over, Vivziepop REALLY needs to try and branch out different music genres or research alternative subcultures better before making goth characters.

THIS ONE THO. How an amazing rendition of Wuji was placed at the start of Tencent Video All Star Night. I don’t know what other stuff they played but you would think, they will choose something more recent or from this year. They have had a number of dramas since 2019 that they could have given a spotlight but they chose that. granted, CQL was super popular and something like that is special and hard to replicate. too bad wyb was backstage. Imagine if the 2 of them were in attendance!

They did other songs but it’s so clear based on the hot search which one made an impact. What do you think about Nathalie's original plotline of wanting to betray Gabriel after getting the Miraculous from the heroes so she can use the Wish herself in order to make Gabriel fall in love with her (according to the leaked Bible this used to be her motivation for helping Gabriel all along but it got scrapped from the show before it ever came up). Do you think this would've been a better plot for Nathalie than what we've got ?

I have extremely mixed feelings about that concept, so let's talk through them!

On the one hand, I am here for Nathalie having a motivation beyond, "I love Gabriel so much that I will do everything to make him happy, even if it means committing terrorism, supporting child abuse, and forfeiting my life!" While that kind of selfless motivation can make for an interesting character - or at least an interesting character arc - it requires a lot more character development than Nathalie was given. The way they did it in the show is just another entry in the show's troubling trend of making characters (and notably mainly female characters) do stupid stuff in the name of love.

Love making people do stupid things is a very real phenomena, so I'm not against that happening from time to time. But love can also make you do wonderful things and miraculous rarely shows us those moments. All the big, dramatic, love-based choices have been ones that lead to dire consequences and personal suffering even if the choice was framed as a loving and/or selfless act. Because of that, I'm okay with Nathalie's "sacrifice" being re-framed as a selfish act done because she thinks that she'll be able to get the miraculous and make herself healthy again.

This alternate motivation would pair well with Gabriel's motivation. I like that because they're co-conspirators, so having them share a theme of selfish love would allow for some interesting ideas. For example, what if we did something crazy and let the villains selfish love continually hurt them while the heroes' selfless love continually led to victory? I know, I'm crazy! Who would want that kind of nonsense in a show that's supposed to be all about love and friendship? (Btw, that was sarcasm)

At the same time, I'm really tired of characters being defined by their romantic interests and little else. It makes sense for Gabriel since he's our big bad who is doing everything out of love for his wife, but all of the other characters should be allowed to have more interesting, rich lives in which romance is just one of the many things that they have going on. It would make for a more interesting cast AND really highlight that Gabriel's love is unhealthy while the "true love" of our teens is healthy. A very important theme that has been painfully absent from the show even though it seemed like it was going to be a thing back in the early seasons!

Nino made movies. Marinette was super into fashion and helping her friends. Adrien liked video games and seemed to be into fencing, too. But as time has gone on, the story has become more and more focused on the romantic relationships, pushing aside plots that focus on other things and I'm not a fan.

I'm a big fan of the idea that the foundations of a good romance are a strong friendship and all members of the romantic relationship having personal lives separate from their romantic partner(s). As such, I want a show that gives friendship and romance equal billing. It can even be the friendship between the romantic leads! Episodes like Gamer and Horrificator were excellent in those regards as they allowed for some nice romantic tension while also developing the characters' interests and backstories.

In summary, if we fix canon so that the teen characters all have more healthy romantic relationships, then I'm pretty open to Nathalie keeping her original motivation as it certainly has potential. However, I'd only give it to her if Nathalie and Gabriel were going to get a lot more screen time and development as it adds a lot of complexity to their dynamic and - as I said in another recent post - you shouldn't add complexity to your story unless you're going to actually explore it.

Personally, I don't see myself ever adding this to Nathalie's character since I generally don't have much interest in developing her and Gabriel. Instead, I usually just switch Nathalie's motivation from love of Gabriel to love of Emilie and no, I don't mean romantic love. While I'm totally cool with lesbian Nathalie, I'm a massive fan of her being motivated out of platonic love simply because we don't see that often enough. It's always romance, romance, romance with a little familial love thrown in here and there for diversity and that's fine. Those are strong motivators. But platonic love can be just as powerful and Miraculous is supposed to be about romantic love AND friendship and I don't see why we need to limit the friendship angle to the teen characters. If Gabriel is our example of selfish romantic love, then let Nathalie be our example of selfish friendship.

Assuming that Emilie is some flavor of decent parent, do you really think that she's going to look at Gabriel and Nathalie's actions and be pleased by how they treated Adrien? No! She's going to be furious with both of them! Gabriel for hatching this crazy plot and Nathalie for going along with it. (Btw, this is yet another reason why I like good Emilie. Gabriel and Nathalie are so freaking selfish that I don't really see them caring if the law, the heroes, or the guardians find them guilty. They'd only care about Emilie's judgement and maybe Adrien's. I can see Gabriel going to jail unphased, but melting into a puddle when Emilie serves him with divorce papers while refusing to speak to him. I want him to get his wish - though ideally not via his own actions - but have it be a total monkey's paw!)

Bachira had been in Blue Lock for a few weeks and as a reward for being one of the few who’d made it through second selection, he and everyone else who’d made it through had been granted a visit from any one person they may wish.

You’d figured Bachira would choose his mom – a fact you had no problem with. You knew Bachira was incredibly close with his mother and given the fact that it was just the two of them, it was something you hadn’t really thought otherwise of. Until his mother calls you one Saturday morning telling you that she practically insists you see him and that she just knows how much her baby boy must be missing you. 

(He’d told her so.)

When you’d tried to fight her on it, all she said was she’d see her boy plenty when he got home and that she’d rather you be able to visit him – because she knows how much you’ve missed him. That had promptly brought a bright flush to your cheeks and a warmth of embarrassment throughout your entire body, but you’d been too flustered to deny otherwise. And honestly, she was more right than you’d like to admit.

Better yet, rather than a quick visit like you’d expected, Bachira had been granted one single Saturday out of the facility to do whatever he’d like with said one person – you.

The second you’d finished your phone call with Bachira’s mom, you’d dropped any ideas of having a lazy Saturday. Your plan of staying in your pj’s all day disappeared from your mind completely at the thought of seeing him, butterflies fluttering in your chest already without having even seen him yet. You’d rushed to get yourself ready, prettying yourself up like you always did, and putting in special effort like you always did when it came to Bachira. Dressing yourself up in a flowy skirt and a flattering blouse, while pinning your hair up in just the right way so it flatters your face – an hour later you were ready and rushing out the door so you weren’t any more late than you already were.

You went to the address Bachira’s mother had given you, and couldn’t hide the excitement that courses through your entire being when you see Bachira standing out front with a couple of other guys around him.

His name leaves your lips in an excited cry, pulling his eyes on you as he blinks at the familiar voice but not the voice he’d been expecting. When his eyes settle on you instead of his mother, there’s confusion, of course, but nothing can beat the wide grin that spreads across his lips as he pushes himself past the boys that had been standing with him, rushing to meet you halfway.

“Meguru!”

He wraps his arms around you, sweeping you off your feet in the next second as he all but spins you around in the spot. It makes your head spin but you hardly care, pressing your hands to his shoulders to steady yourself when he sets you back on your feet, a puffed breath leaving your lips as you meet his gaze.

“I thought my mom was coming,” Bachira explains, shaking his head. “She called you?”

Shrugging, you bite your lip; “might’ve yeah.” Nodding, you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, hands slowly drifting off his shoulders before settling on his chest – you don’t want to let go of him quite yet. “Are you disappointed? I know you must miss your mom.”

“Disappointed?” He questions, eyes practically twinkling. “Are you crazy? I’ve missed–”

“Bachira, whose this?”

You blink at the new voice, turning your head to stare past Bachira shoulders. Your lips part at the sight of the boys who’d been standing with him before slowly making their way over to the two of you, a boy with black hair having been the one who’d spoken.

“Oh, this is Y/N/N-chan.” He introduces, gesturing to you before meeting your gaze. “And Y/N/N, this is Isagi, Chigiri, Raichi and Igarashi. They were on the team I was put on during the first selection.”

Your lips form an ‘o’, tilting your head slightly in a way that has all four of them unable to look away, “nice to meet you all,” you greet, smiling brightly.

Little do you know the way you smile, eyes sparkling and all prettily has all four boys internally drooling. Having been surrounded by only boys for the past few weeks had more of an impact than any of them had expected, and they feel almost dazed at their first sight of a pretty girl – especially when some, more than others, barely even spoke to girls before coming here (...Isagi…). 

Especially when said girl – you – came for Bachira no less. A fact some find harder to believe than others.

“And you two are...?”

“Oh,” Bachira blinks, “Y/N/N’s my girlfriend.”

All four pairs of eyes bulge at that.

“Nice, man,” Isagi grins, lightly knocking his shoulder into Bachira’s, an action that has you rolling your eyes but smiling nonetheless, knowing it was in good nature. You can already tell you like Isagi, him and the pretty red-haired boy, Chigiri – they’re the only two of the four not staring at you like you’re the last girl on earth.

And also the only two meeting your eyes.

“Seriously,” Chigiri snorts before turning to you, “it’s nice to meet you.”

You bow slightly in response, happy that Bachira was able to meet such nice boys while in Blue Lock. You knew he’s already had trouble making friends in the past and amongst many other things, you’d been worried Blue Lock would be more or less the same. However, it seemed he’d been able to make at least a few, unlike the other two who are still staring at you and–

“How’d you manage to get a girl like her, bangs?” The blonde one, Raichi you believe, all but cackles, shoving his hands in his pockets as he leers down at you. You’re not a fan of his words or the nickname. “She might be a little too, um, what’s the word? Sophisticated for you?”

Brows furrowing, your lips part to argue, before the bald-headed one cuts in before you can.

“Bachira can barely even eat by himself.” He laughs, a jeering sound as his eyes turn to you, finally meeting you in the eye. “Seriously, what do you even see in him? Is it his skills in soccer because I’m a pretty good–”

“Guys,” Isagi cuts in, frowning. “Come on.”

“What?” Raichi shrugs, “we’re just wondering, l*ser.”

Lips still in a heavy frown, you flicker your gaze over to your left, towards Bachira, noticing the pout on his lips and the way he’s gripping onto the sleeve of your jacket. But honestly, it’s the distant look in his eyes that concerns you, that same look he always gets when he’s getting stuck in his own thoughts – thoughts that were without a doubt brought about by these two a**holes.

“For your information,” you cut in, finally speaking up as you turn to the two with a heavy glare. “I am very happy to be with Bachira. He’s sweet to me, never fails to make me laugh, I’m endlessly proud of how he’s pursuing his career and he treats me far better than I’m sure either of you two could. Not only that, but I think I need him far more than he needs me.”

There’s an echo of silence as your words sink in, both Raichi and Igarashi stunned silent as Chigiri and Isagi take one look at each other before bursting out in laughter at the two’s misfortune – a sight that brings a smile to your lips as well. But then, Bachira’s hand is slipping into your own and when you turn to look at him, he’s smiling bright-eyed and it’s like he’s never looked prouder in that moment.

Good. He shouldn’t listen to those two anyways.

“Well, we only have one day, ‘Guru and I’d like to be able to spend as much of it with you as possible. Shall we?”

You gesture to your left, and with that, Bachira eagerly nods, letting you lead him off with a final wave Chigiri and Isagi’s way (but not without sticking his tongue out at both Raichi and Igarashi who are burning red in the face from embarrassment).

A few steps later and still within viewing of his friends, you stop Bachira, confusing him as you turn to him, grabbing him by the arms before leaning up, and promptly pressing your lips against his own. He freezes at the action at first, obviously not having expected it, but it doesn’t take him long to return the affection, slipping his hands around your waist much like he had moments ago. Except this time he’s gentler, a simple hug that presses you against him as he moves one hand to the back of your neck.

When you pull back, you’re breathless and dazed but you’re all too happy when you realize that they’d been watching – just like you’d wanted them to be.

“Sorry,” you breathe, “I know I said I’d give you my first kiss when you came back but…”

“Hey,” Bachira calls, uncharacteristically soft as he lets his hand cup your cheek, gently guiding your gaze upwards and at him. “That was perfect.”

Biting your lip, you grin. 

“They were watching?”

Gripping his shirt, you nod. “Yup,” you assure, popping the ‘p’ as you press your nose against him. “Just like I wanted them too.”

“God, I really did miss you, you know?”

“Me too,” you pout faintly, “I can hardly survive without you.”

Bachira giggles, “just so you know, I do need you.”

“I know,” you shrug, “but... we both know I can hardly survive without you. You don’t know how hard it’s been.”

Grinning, Bachira shakes his head; “I know, baby. Must’ve been hard, huh?” He coos at you, brushing back a strand of hair as he presses' a kiss to your cheek.

And who are you to deny the truth.

Once, youtuber hbomberguy asked a bunch of funny rhetorical questions about the Doctor Who episode Twice Upon A Time. Years later, I watched the episode, rewatched his video, got real mad at how lousy his questions actually were, answered every single one of them, and took time out for a few more questions like "Is Steven Moffat actually a fantastic lesbian feminist ally?" and "what's the deal with the Egyptian statue in LOST?"

Look, this won't even be the last time we get the first question rephrased, so let me just answer the underlying question of "why is there conflict between the Doctor and Testimony when neither wishes to harm the other" here, with the answer in the show, which is dramatically foreshadowed in a short scene, then paid off with the twist reveal. Twice Upon a Time is about the 12th Doctor, the 1st Doctor, and Some Guy (a WW1 soldier) getting arbitrarily thrown together and seemingly menaced by a weird glassy alien technology called Testimony. Testimony has plucked the soldier from the timestream to record his memories directly before the moment of his death, as it claims to do with ALL the dead, throughout history. An accident prevented him from being returned to the moment of his death, and now Testimony hopes to fix that error (necessitating his death). To make matters more distressing for the Doctor, Testimony has seemingly resurrected Bill, who died in shocking fashion in the finale (don't worry, she got better through the power of gay love, but the Doctor doesn't know that). He announces his intention to escape with the possibly ersatz Bill and the soldier, and boasts that if he doesn't like what Testimony is doing he will come back and put a stop to it. The 1st Doctor peevishly asks just who the hell his later iteration thinks he is, to make such grandiose statements. Testimony shows them, in the form of a surround sound clip show. He is the Doctor of War, responsible for innumerable final moments stored within the vast database of the universe's dead. This is, simply, why Testimony treats the Doctor distrustfully and with some hostility, and then embodies itself in Bill in order to follow the Doctor and learn more about him. Testimony's whole perspective on the Doctor is defined by the Doctor at his most violent. It most certainly DOES NOT "know he's a peaceful guy". Probably a lot of its record of him is as the last thing soldiers from both side of the Time War saw before he obliterated them. It also doesn't… really threaten him particularly much? Ultimately it wishes to understand the Doctor better, and so spins up an instance of Bill to study him and see what he does next. The Doctor meanwhile didn't give it much of a chance to explain itself, which is another solid, shorter answer: the Doctor was too busy jumping to conclusions to give it a chance to explain itself. A third, also useful answer, is: because there needs to be a plot for the episode to take place.

Intro: With so many new Atinys coming in, I figured now would be a good time to shed some light on all the boys' creative solo projects over the years, big and small.

JongST

Jongho's a singer through and through, and launched his own cover series in 2020 where he traveled to the filming sets of his favorite dramas to cover the songs in his usual powerful and emotional fashion, proving over and over again how much he deserves all the praise he gets showered with:

The fourth episode is a special one, featuring Jung Seung Hwan, the original singer of the OST, and a little interview section in the second half of the video. It's very cute and Seung Hwan shares a little anecdote of Jongho approaching him in the past to give him one of their albums and being all sweet and shy about it.

In mid 2022, Jongho was invited to Leemujin Service, where he performed an acoustic cover of Turbulence and the most gut wrenching version of Don't Go Today (seriously, it's so gorgeous I've streamed it more than some actual comebacks):

Through his participation in Masked Singer, Jongho performed Swing Baby a year ago while (to my delight, Jinyoung and Hyunsuk from CIX were there) - it's a really fun and dynamic performance and you can tell the audience had a blast:

At the beginning of the last third of the song, there's a section where the instrumental just falls away and we're left with nothing but Jongho's voice and it's so damn powerful:

8 months ago, Jongho's cover of Park Hyo Shin's Wild Flower was uploaded, featuring Jongho in a unique setting: a circular room with a single spotlight shining down from above, illuminating just him and a pianist sitting at a grand black piano.

He'll dry your hair for you, make you a bath, whatever it takes to make your life easier. He could be grading tests, reading a book or whatever really, he'll always make sure you know he's there.

«I'm gonna go read a book, I'll let you grade your tests okay?» you get your book and go sit on the sofa. As you're halfway through the page, you hear rustling from the table, and then see Suga coming to the sofa. Soon enough your legs are stretched out on his lap, as he continues grading, occasionally giving your calves a gentle squeeze.

As he's done grading you soon enough end up in his arms, being cuddled as he whispers sweet words in your ears and kisses your head, inhaling your perfume.

Has it been a hard day? You bet he's going to brush your hair until you fall asleep on his lap, and then he'll bring you to bed, lay next to you, falling asleep to the soft sound of your slow breathing.

«Look at this!!» you send him a video of a recently opened ice skating rink in Tokyo. You wouldn't see him for two weeks, since he had a fashion show in another city in Japan.

Two weeks had passed, and as promised, he came over. You open the door to find him there, a flower bouquet in his hands, as he extends one for you to grab. You do, and next thing you know you're at the skating rink, with you helping him as to not fall over, since he's absolutely terrible at it.

He's very difficult to categorize in my humble opinion, but if I'd have to summarize him in one word, I'd choose: care. He's a mix of all five love languages, he just wants to be there for you and take care of you in every situation, even if you insist on him not to, since you feel like a burden sometimes.

«Daichi, you don't have to do all of this...I've had my period countless times. It's okay; I took painkillers, they'll take effect soon and I'll be good.» he gives you a stern look, much like he did with his teammates in high school when they were exhausting themselves.

«There's no way I'm letting you go to practice like that. You're hereby forbidden from straining yourself until you feel better. And don't try to do otherwise, because I'm not going to move until you feel better [y/n].» you sigh, as he opens the sofa bed. He grabs a few blankets, and the heating pad, laying them on it. He gently lays you on the sofa, putting the heating pad on your abdomen, and covering you with the blankets. After a little while he comes back with snacks and the tv remote, laying next to you.

He cuddles you in his arms, massaging your lower back, soothing the sharp pain coursing through your body.

You spend the evening like that, cuddled in his arms while watching a tv show.

8 YEARS AGO

Once Jimin’s debut solo album, Here I Am, along with the accompanying title track ‘You Rock My World’ that Kamaria had starred in the music video for came out, the response was astronomical. Jimin found himself shattering every record that seemed to exist for a solo artist and Kamaria found herself dealing with the newfound fame of having both a number one film and staring in the music video to a number one song and album at the same time.

As a way of thanking her for her involvement in the music video, Jimin had gotten in touch with Kamaria’s manager, Nari, to invite her out to dinner. 

“Well, well, well,” Kamaria smiled as Jimin breezed through the front doors of Ryunique. “I would’ve been fashionably late too, had I known we were doing that.”

“Sorry,” Jimin apologized sheepishly. “Everything has just been so crazy since the album came out, I’ve barely been able to breathe.”

“I was joking, Jimin,” she laughed and after a beat of silence, Jimin found himself laughing as well. After the owner of Ryunique, Ryujin, showed them to their table, they quickly ordered their food and drinks before falling into casual conversation. 

“So, I invited you out tonight because I wanted to thank you,” Jimin began. “In all the reviews of the music video, people are mentioning how you made it more than just a typical video with your dance skills and your charisma.”

“Well, it was only possible for me to do that because the song is that good,” Kamaria responded.

“And I wanted to thank you for that too,” he added. “For some reason, when you told me that you knew the song and album would be a hit....I believed you and you turned out to be right.”

“Music is in my blood.”

“Speaking of that, I didn’t know that Choi Sora was your mother and that Quincy Jacobs is your father,” Jimin mentioned. “Though now that I’m seeing you again, I want to slap myself because you look just like her.”

“Yeahhh, wish I could say that I haven’t heard that all my life,” Kamaria joked. 

“You don’t like to talk about her?”

“Given the fact that for most people, she’s almost as well known for overdosing as she is for being an icon in Kpop?” She laughed bitterly. “Not really.” An awkward silence fell over the two of them then, Jimin not having expected that reaction from her.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured and Kamaria sighed heavily.

“You don’t have to be sorry, I didn’t mean to snap like that,” she told him. “She’s my mom and I love her dearly but I want to be known for my gift more than just being her daughter.”

“I understand that,” Jimin nodded. “That’s why I chose to do my solo debut now, so that I can establish an identity outside of Bangtan.” 

“You’ve definitely done that,” Kamaria smiled, making Jimin do the same. 

“So, what are you going to do now? Another film? TV shows?”

“What makes you think I have anything planned?”

“Please,” Jimin snickered. “You’re signed to SM Entertainment and if I know anything about them, they’re always looking for a way to capitalize off any hint of success.”

“This is true,” she admitted with a giggle. “I actually had a meeting today about my next album. They’re giving me about a month to write some material and then I go into the studio.”

“Well, since you helped me out, I’d love to return the favor,” he offered. “I have a duet that I scrapped from my album. Maybe you could take a look at it and tweak it to your liking?”

“That sounds amazing. One condition, though.”

“What’s that?”

“That you tweak it with me and we record it together,” Kamaria said and Jimin chuckled. 

“I’d love to.”

An asshole. A wide, gaping asshole that had been fucked with the force of a thousand elephant dicks. 

That’s exactly what Jimin looked and sounded like right now. 

“Bubs?” Jimin called, reaching out and snapping his fingers in front of Kamaria’s face. “Did you hear me?”

She couldn’t believe the audacity and gall of the man sitting in front of her, having the nerve to fucking ask her to-

“D-did you just ask me t-to,-”

“Be my surrogate, yes,” he confirmed. 

“Are you clinically fucking insane?!” She spat and Jimin instantly shushed her, glancing around himself to make sure that none of the people sitting at the tables around them had heard her. “Do not shush me right now, bitch!”

“Stop yelling,” he hissed. 

“I cannot have a baby with you,” she shot back. “You’re married, even if you don’t want to be! You can’t go off and have a baby with your ex-girlfriend! What the hell do you think Hye-ja is gonna say when she finds out that you chose me?”

“Well, Hye-ja doesn’t even know that you and I dated for three years,” he revealed. “So in her mind, you’d just be helping me out because you’re a close friend, which is what everyone thinks about us anyways.”

“Everyone else thinking that is different,” Kamaria sighed. “When we were together, we made the joint decision to keep our relationship a secret. You don’t think that you wanting me to have your child necessitates you telling your wife about what we had?”

“No because I know how she’d react.”

“She’d react like any woman with a fucking backbone would!” She exclaimed. “She’d be rightfully pissed that her husband of less than six months went out and asked his ex-girlfriend to carry his child!”

“She kept the fact that she didn’t want children from me, even after I explained her to that I did when we were still dating,” Jimin explained. “So I think it’s fair if I keep this to myself.”

“I swear, you turn into the most spiteful man on the face of the planet when you don’t get what you want,” Kamaria chuckled as she set her elbows on the table and ran her hands through her hair. “You’re 33 years old and the best solution your brain could up with in response to your wife not wanting to have kids was to have me be your fucking surrogate?”

“Bubs, come on,” Jimin pleaded. “You’re the only person that I can see myself having children with.”

“You’re so full of shit,” she snapped. “You obviously didn’t feel that way when you married Hye-ja.”

“Unless you really want to have that conversation with me, then you should stop while you’re ahead.”

“Fine. Here’s a question for you though: did you really think I was going to agree to having a child with you and not have any ties to it?” Kamaria questioned. “Because that’s what surrogacy implies.”

“No, we’d share custody but we can figure all that out once you’re actually pregnant,” Jimin said. 

“Oh, I’m not agreeing,” she clarified with a laugh. “I’m just trying to understand your fucked way of thinking. Another thing, how was I supposed to get pregnant? Because I’m a lot of things but a homewrecker isn’t one of them.”

“Ha, 21 year old Kamaria would disagree with you,” he laughed and she rolled her eyes at the situation that he was referencing. 

“Mina was a bitch and she deserved it but that’s not the point,” she huffed. “Look, I don’t know what the fuck is up with you but if you think I’m going to have a baby with you just so you can take it home to the bitch that you married to essentially get back at me, then you’re sadly fucking mistaken.”

“Bubs,” Jimin said, gasping when Kamaria got up from her seat so abruptly that the table shook, causing her wine glass to topple over. “Kamaria, please.”

“You know, just when I think you can’t get anymore fucking selfish, you always prove me wrong,” Kamaria spat before turning around and storming out of the restaurant. Ignoring all of the camera flashes, she shielded her face until her bodyguard opened the car door for her and she was able to get inside. 

“How could I be so stupid?” She chastised herself as she leaned back against her seat, her bodyguard pulling away from the curb and into the streets. 

Well, that was a waste of a good ass dress.

“I think you should do it,” Nari shrugged and Kamaria snorted loudly. The two of them were in the living room of Kamaria’s penthouse, enjoying their weekly movie night complete with wine, popcorn, and chocolates. 

“He’s married, Nari,” Kamaria reminded her.

“If he had to come and ask his ex-girlfriend to carry his child, clearly it’s not going that well,” Nari pointed out. 

“He’s the one that married her out of spite,” Kamaria replied. “I am not going to save Jimin’s ass, once again, because he made yet another decision that he didn’t think through. It’s about time his impulsivity bit him in the ass.”

“But he loves you and had you not rejected him, you would’ve been the one he married instead of her.”

“I couldn’t!” Kamaria whined. “He had just gotten out of rehab, Nari!”

“That’s bullshit and you know it as well as I do,” Nari replied calmly. “You and Jimin were together for three years, as soon as he got back from his enlistment, and he asked you to marry him at least as many times as that. Hell, he probably asked you more than that because that man loves you. Now, I’m not saying you didn’t have valid reasons to turn him down because you did but the relationship between the two of you wasn’t all bad, either.”

“It’s easier if I act like it was,” Kamaria murmured as she picked up her glass of white wine. “It helps the fact that he went off and married someone else hurt less.” 

“I know sweetie,” she sighed, reaching over and grabbing Kamaria’s free hand in hers. “And I know how much you were hurt by what he did to you.”

“You were there so of course you know,” Kamaria chuckled ruefully, making Nari laugh. 

“I was,” she nodded as she reached up and wiped the tears that had begun to fall from her best friend’s eyes. “But I also know what the two of you had and how he felt about you; Hell, how he still feels about you. He texts me at least once a week and asks how you’re doing.”

“What?” Kamaria gasped. That was news to her. 

“He asked me to not tell you because he knew you were angry with him but he was still concerned about you,” Nari explained. “Now, what you said before was right. His impulsivity is a downfall for him, it’s true and it’s gotten him into a relationship that he didn’t think through but think about it. Jimin’s one of the biggest stars in the world who could have any woman carry his child if he chose to but he wants you.”

“And that’s supposed to make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside?”

“No but it should remind you of what you two had,” Nari replied. “Who does he have in his will?”

“Me,” Kamaria sighed. 

“Who is his mother leaving her expensive china to when she passes?”

“Me,” Kamaria echoed. 

“And who is the woman that he wrote an entire album of songs for?” 

“Me,” Kamaria finished. 

“One last question,” Nari said. “Can you genuinely see yourself ever having children with someone who isn’t Jimin?” And that had Kamaria retreating into her mind for a few seconds. While Jimin hadn’t been her first boyfriend or even the first man she had given herself to, he was her first love and the love they had shared was unlike anything she had ever experienced in her life. 

The man had his faults, many of which Kamaria was intimately familiar with but the thought of creating a family with someone who wasn’t Jimin had never entered her mind. Even know, when her heart was aching from his betrayal and she wanted nothing more than to gauge his eyes out and feed them to him, it was still him. 

It was always going to be, at least in some part of her disjointed heart. 

“No,” Kamaria finally admitted. 

“I know it’s unconventional but it might be worth it to think it over,” Nari shrugged. 

“I can’t, at least not right now,” Kamaria shook her head. “I have to get through promo for ‘Taming’ and then I want to get back into the studio to finish the album.”

“Oh speaking of promo, you have that in depth interview next week,” Nari told her. “It’s your first one since Jimin got married so what are you going to say if they ask about him and you?”

“The same thing I’ve been saying for the last eight years anytime they ask about us,” she shrugged. “We’re friends and that’s all we’ve ever been.”

“Given everything that’s happened though, you think you’re gonna be able to lie like that?”

“I have no choice,” Kamaria replied with a shrug. “Just gotta do what I gotta do.”

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #48

I did it!!! I finally did the thing!! I did it with help!!

Look!!!

I took a broken Dance Dance Revolution (DDR for short!) pad, which wasn't a very good pad to begin with for a variety of reasons, and turned it into a DDR pad that actually works!! I'll show you how!!

There were a lot of steps involved with this, but obviously, the very first step was to take the broken DDR pad apart and figure out how it works:

As it turns out, on the inside there are two sheets of plastic with conductive paint on the inside. When the conductive paint on the top sheet touches the conductive paint on the bottom sheet, a button press is recorded! A thin foam sheet with holes perforated in specific spots is put in between the two sheets of plastic, such that the conductive paint only touches if you step on certain parts of the pad.

The pad was broken because the plastic sheeting with the conductive paint ended up being crunched up in certain spots, which made it more difficult for the paint to conduct properly. After taking the pad apart, my husband and I used packing tape on the sides of the sheets without conductive paint to smooth out the wrinkles and reinforce it.

When the crunched-up sections were able to lie flat in a satisfactory fashion, I then used a staple gun to affix the bottom plastic sheet to a very sturdy piece of board. From there, it was time to reapply the foam in the correct orientation. That was also stapled down. Then finally, I aligned the top sheet of plastic with the bottom sheet (the foam was slightly translucent even in the parts without holes, so this was relatively easy), and stapled that down, too. Here was the result:

After that, you have to protect it with the sturdy plastic cover. I wanted a pad where the arrows were slightly raised, and I wasn't going to use the foam bottom of the pad for anything, so I cut little squares in the shape of the arrow buttons and applied them to the bottom of the plastic cover, like so:

And then I flipped it over, aligned it with the plastic sheeting, and stapled it down!

And do you want to know what??? IT WORKS!!! So far, it works better than any other pad I've ever owned, and that includes my old RedOctane that gave out after 10 years of heavy use (RIP, my trusty RedOctane; I miss you dearly).

DDR is a very old game at this point, so they don't make high quality pads like the ones RedOctane used to make anymore. RedOctane as a company no longer even exists. It's a real shame.

Anyhoot!! I went and played one of my favorite DDR songs on Stepmania, on Expert level difficulty! The timing of this pad couldn't be better (though I wish I could say the same for my stamina at this point, hahaha!), and despite the fact that I am very much not used to this kind of exercise anymore, I still managed to get an A!

And the best part about it is that it's HEAVY. The wood that the pad is stapled to is fairly weighty!! This means it doesn't slide around on the floor all crazy when I am using it, and that's a HUGE bonus!! I've sprained ankles in the past from mis-stepping on a thick foam pad that moved without me realizing it while I used it, and goodness me, such an occurrence is NOT a fun time!!

Now that I have a pad that works properly and a funky green half-oval that can stick my ribs back together after the fact, I'm hoping to be able to play more DDR in the very near future! Maybe if I can get my stamina back and start playing on Expert mode all the time again, I'll even record a little video for you of me derping around on my Frankenpad! It'll look ridiculous, but it'll be fun!! Hahaha!

I'm really pleased with how this turned out; it works a lot better than I expected for a first attempt at trying anything like this! I'm hoping to make another one! If I do this again in the near future, I should do a better job, because next time I'll have a better understanding of what to do and what to expect! Then I can play with multiple people at the same time!! And that would be amazing!

Have you ever built anything cool? Heck, have you built anything that you think is uncool? If you have, then I wish you could tell me about it! I suppose I'll have to settle just for asking without ever receiving any answer, hahaha... Oh well.

I think I'll end this letter here for now. As you might expect, my grip flexors are VERY angry with me right now because repetitive uses of the staple gun is not something that squishy noodle-arms like mine are accustomed to, hahaha! Also, I moved around a lot, both for the construction of this and for testing it, and so my ribs are pretty angry at me, too... Sheesh...

I'll work at getting my stamina back so that I can send you a neat video. Count on it, okay?

And if you can spare the time, maybe try to see what sorts of things you can build, even if it's something silly like a little person made of sticks and twine. Can someone ezblain why we had that whole roy vs jamie over keeley fight revived? I was happy that they were being friends. Then they went to keeley's house and wer liek you pick and I was so sure she was going to be like why not both? I was on that train. Her canon reaction made sense but then made ask why bring it up at all? They were doing fine. Their relationship grew beyond fighting over a girl, after what they went thru togtherr? Idk

I really wish I could explain it, anon. Personally, I think the problem started an episode before when they suddenly introduced the "I don't want to just be friends" conflict when, from where I was standing, Roy and Keeley had already gotten back together, concluding the journey we've known they were on since the start of Season One. Keeley starts falling for Roy, they date, have some struggles, overcome them, and presumably conclude the series as an item, demonstrating that Keeley can be a strong, independent boss while also indulging in the romance she's been interested in since her introduction.

But then, suddenly, their night together + Rebecca's realization doesn't mean they're dating again. Okay, weird to introduce that in the literal final hour, but I guess they wanted one last conflict for the finale. I got ohhhhh so excited when Roy admitted to being anxious about "stuff" because what could that possibly be except him grappling with feelings for Jamie too? He and Keeley JUST slept together, he JUST wrote her a love confession, he JUST said overtly and without reservations that he wants more than friendship, so there's nothing Keeley-only related that he'd be this nervous about. It's got to be the poly plot-line that's been happening in the background. This is why everyone looks to Jamie during Colin's coming out scene. This is how we confirm Beard's reminder that there are more queer people in the room. This is why we see Jamie's bedroom with a sexualized Keeley AND a poster of Roy right beside it, positioning them as equals. This is why we got moments like Jamie attending Roy's uncle party because yeah, they haven't just become friends, they've become intimately close. Holy shit, Ted Lasso's actually gonna do it!

So I went into the bar scene not liking the regression to jealousy -- and I hated that Jamie used the video to try and one-up Roy, especially after all the good work the writing did with that: having him apologize and keeping that information from Roy when it was none of his business -- but I figured this was just the messy way the story was getting us to that poly ending. They need to act in the traditional Manly Fashion over the girl, going so far as to demand that Keeley choose one of them, in order to access the opportunity for her to say (and I could hear it so clearly in her voice): "Why should I choose just one?" The lead-up to this could have definitely been done better, I thought, watching the three of them sit down at the table, Like, I hate that we're suddenly regressing to set this up, it's stupid, but a canonical poly ending will be worth some missteps. Hell, I'll forgive a LOT here because we almost NEVER get that representation and in a show this popular? Hot damn, that's amazing.

And then Keeley just kicked them both out.

Thank god she remained single, like she always should have been. Strong and independent! I've seen a lot of fans say post-finale and I'm just in my corner going wait, I'm happy for you, truly I am, but I'm asking in the nicest way possible if we watched the same show?? The one where Keeley has ALWAYS wanted a romance? How she's an amazing character in part BECAUSE the writing allowed her to love romance and sex and being a badass boss? Where she and Roy were set up to be the True Love story from the very start? How a Keeley/Roy/Jamie story has been happening subtly in the background, now primed to become canon in the season largely focused on queer identities? How Keeley did not need to be the narrowly defined strong, independent, single woman when Rebecca Fucking Welton was right there, loving her life post-divorce, and instead the story decided to give her a man and a little girl at the last possible second?

They'll at least address that and have Keeley announce her intentions to stay single for a time after that mess with Jack, as a way of wrapping up her story, I thought and then that never happened.

They'll at least address Jamie and Roy's lingering feelings for Keeley because surely, after that bar confrontation, resulting in an actual FIGHT, they won't just shrug this off over some kebabs, I thought and then that never happened.

Well, it sucks that we didn't get a poly couple, but I suppose it was always a long shot--

[Dani slams in with two model women we know nothing about, just literal arm candy at a wedding where Beard marries his abuser that, intentionally or not, is kinda framed as a dream and wait wait wait THAT'S the canonical poly rep we're ending on??]

I've seen a couple people say that they enjoy the finale more after a re-watch and hell yeah. More power to you. Wish that were me. Unfortunately, outside the stuff I liked right at the start, I've enjoyed the finale less and less the more I've returned to it. So much just feels like it came out of nowhere, regressed the characters, contradicted long-term setups, and generally left me feeling disappointed about things they I believe we had good reason to expect from the show. These weren't things we simply hoped for and thus fans are in need of a reminder that this is not their story. This was stuff Ted Lasso textually and thematically implied... and when you're the feel good show of the quarantine era, pulling back from those implied promises feels even worse. The long-running couple break up in the most confusing, backsliding way possible. The last episode cruelly teases one of the most popular ships. Nate's entire redemption arc was rushed/had key moments pushed off-screen, giving him almost no time to re-connect with Ted. The established abuse plot-line is played straight at the end. Ted goes back to Kansas and, according to the montage, full-on abandons his found family in the name of doing right by Henry -- a level of sacrifice I don't think this kid needs or, if given the chance to have a say in all this, would necessarily even want.

Idk, there were a LOT of fantastic moments (the sign reveal makes me SCREAM!!!!!) but overall the bones of the finale left me feeling sad. The Roy/Keeley/Jamie situation is pretty reflective of that feeling.

Fexi Spotlight Interview

Hello everyone! I am excited to share our first Fexi Spotlight Interview with the amazing @fexiana! Most of you know Fexiana for her Euphoria Sims videos, but she also has written fics! In this interview, we talk about her love of Fexi, the creative and technical process of her videos, and future content plans. Enjoy and remember to check out her blog and other socials to watch her videos!

How did you get into Fexi?

Fexiana: It is really crazy because I never thought that they’d make a great couple in season one- not until season two episode one did I realize their potential and how much their opposition could attract. They have so many similarities as the season continued, but I’ve got to say, the chemistry on that sofa in season two episode one is how I got into Fexi.

What do you like about Fexi? 

Fexiana: I think Fexi’s differences are what I like about them the most. Even though they were raised differently and have different morals, they have so many similarities that pronounce the differences to the point us Fexi lovers can feel the compatibility. “Opposites attract” is a famous saying, and Fexi’s differences can be compared to one another in such a healthy way that I see nothing but a positive outcome and future between the both of them. They both deserve each other—true happiness.

How did you get into making Fexi Sims?

Fexiana: Waiting for season 3 has been so hard that I had to create a vision for myself in terms of Euphoria Sims. It was a way for me to fulfill my Fexi needs, as well as a way to physically see them and control their lives as I missed Fezco and Lexi on my screen oh so much. And trust—in my game, I control their lives accordingly: going on dates, cooking together, watching movies, taking naps together, playing with their pet cat, having great yet intelligent conversations, Lexi joking with Ashtray. Really, it was for a piece of mind as we don’t see the gaps. Many Fexi lovers like myself wish there were more scenes between them, so I tried my best to capture that.

What is the creative and technical process for your videos? 

Fexiana: The creative parts of the videos have a lot to do with the fashion aspect. I try to pick an outfit I think the characters would really wear or go off references from actual episodes. I’ve even gone as far as to build Fezco’s home and business for the creative part—even Lexi and Cassie’s room, although, I do plan on finishing the Howard house and Rue’s house.

The technical part is a whole other story. I wish I could say it was easy and smooth, but it is indeed very technical. I recreated Lexi’s play episode and went through a lot of technical difficulties. Come to find out, I needed to update the processor on my computer. So, if you guys happen to watch that, forgive me because the video is very laggy, and I didn’t realize it until after I edited/finished the episode. I usually start by filming first, and then I edit the clips on a timeline and add subtitles/songs if necessary. No matter how simple the songs, trust, it is very tedious!

What is your favorite scene/detail from your video?

Fexiana: I would have to say I am the proudest of the recreation of Lexi’s play episode (minus the lagging). In this video, I had to have Fezco there in attendance for my own peace of mind. I do plan on making an aftermath of the play video to show them happily hanging out after her play (and Ash is still alive). 

What plans do you have for your videos? 

Fexiana: I have so many plans for videos! I could literally do one for every holiday if I wanted. My very first video was of Fexi having a baby (R rated). I would like to do other videos such as them going on a date to the skate park or restaurant, Fez helping Lexi do homework, Fexi partying, and even focusing on other characters in Euphoria such as Rue, Maddy, Cassie, Jules, and Nate. Even though I focus more on creating episodes, I find that there’s nothing wrong with not having subtitles. It’s so much easier to do a music video, which is another plan I have for Euphoria Sims.

What are your hopes for Euphoria S3? 

Fexiana: My hopes for Season 3 are for everyone to be happy—mainly and selfishly, Lexi and Fezco. Hearing that it is set to be five years in the future, I hope to see their future TOGETHER and that they’ve accomplished their dreams, as well as all other goals to elevate them individually and as a couple.

Do you plan to make Fexi content outside of your videos? Like fics, playlists, art, collages, mood/vision boards, or social media AUs?

Fexiana: Yes! Before I started making Euphoria Sims videos, I wrote Fexi fics on AO3 by the name Fexiana. I started a painting of Lexi and Fezco that I was supposed to finish last year, and I do intend to make graphite drawings of them. I’ve made Fexi playlists, but rather than share them in writing with links, I incorporate them into my Euphoria Sims videos and put the names of the songs in the credits.

Any other news or facts do you want to share? 

Fexiana: I guess I’d like to share that I am a very approachable person who loves to execute ideas from other people because thinking alone can be boring and discouraging at times. I think that’s what made me take a break in the first place. So, please, I encourage everyone to give me ideas. What would you like to see me create in Euphoria Sims? It doesn’t even have to be Fexi related as I have ALL of the cast made. For instance, I wanted to make a video of Rue and Jules playfully messing with Nate, Maddy in her hot girl era, and Lexi and Cassie having a girl’s night with Suze—cute, simple things. I’d love to have a list of ideas from YOU ALL. This way I will always have a new video to make without questioning “What am I going to do next?”
