SMG4 itself is like over one thousand episodes including movies but the Puzzlevision arc honestly isn't that long... maybe... I skipped the intervals tbh jgfjdglkdsg. If you can take the initially more dominant style of humor (which I believe is the standard, and it just isn't for me so I had a hard time getting through some episodes in the beginning) then it's alright :3

If nothing else it's definitely worth it for Brendan Blaber's vocal performance because he honestly blows the character out of the park. I love the passion and the raging and the playful moments as well, really makes him sound like a fun quirky fella who might also burn your house down

It really is such a weird conclusion they came too and it’s pretty sad they’re that hateful about something that is blatant misinfo anyway. But to be honest, I think they just want a reaction and I like getting them because I think they’re REALLY funny. I’ve been quoting that first huge paragraph I got for days now, people write so angrily and so blindly that they have no idea how comical they’re being haha

But I appreciate the concern, and there’s nothing to be sorry for. I’m having fun and overall the homestuck side of tumblr has been really nice to me, even if it’s my first time getting such aggressive hate messages.

I don’t get many asks in general, but the people around me have always been very kind and supportive. I’m very lucky to be online with such good people <3

// alright after this post I think I won't answer any more in regards to what happened because I mean it when I say I'm at my limit 😭 and I don't think it's right to keep dragging an issue causing a tense atmosphere for everyone else around. so if you seriously have any actual notable complaints or issues you genuinely want recognized, you can grow some balls and dm me because any further anons about this are getting deleted and ignored. this way it isn't me not having a chance to defend myself and others not to be heard, but rather not ruining the day for everyone else as it had yesterday.

I am a mod that has been here for years, and in the recent past year and a half I've gotten a job and college to take care of, so evidently enough I'm not here and keeping track of everything as much as I used to. because of this, I find it incredibly hard to keep track of what is and isn't happening (hence why I usually regulate this blog in regards to only the blogs I really follow and talk to, because no way would I be able to keep tabs on everything else). ben doesn't seem to interact with many accounts these days, but not long ago he did and has also been here for years so I included him. andre was to refer to the older mod/account that was the same as ben in the aspect of being here for years and I was not aware the mod had stepped aside and found a replacement because the previous andre was usually always quiet and more off to the side. I will admit my bad with Betsey! ngl I've never been sure what side of the fence they stood on because I saw them interact with characters like dinis or even other girl characters but not often. while there are definitely different groups of people that stick more together, some are not always so clear on the distinction. and as much as it may seem unfortunate truth, this is my blog and it's going to revolve around the people I am comfortable with, talk to, keep track of, etc. it's not always going to be perfect, but I'm doing what I and others find enjoyable so in the end I'm going to continue as I have been ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

after 5 years of running this blog, i've made the decision to open up a patreon!

my life circumstances are changing, and patreon will greatly help me make ends meet and pay rent. nothing about this blog will be changing - i'll still be posting a cat doodle every day, same as i always have.

i have a $3/month tier and a $6/month tier - both work as tip jars, with the latter being if you feel especially generous and can afford it.

right now i have transparent and/or higher-resolution PNGs of certain catcrumbs that i've used for redbubble up for members, if anyone wants to make emojis or such. i'll also be taking requests for drawings to be transparentized and/or put on redbubble. in the future i may start offering additional rewards - bonus art, requests, maybe physical stuff - but my life needs to settle down a bit before i do anything like that.

your money is of course yours to do with as you see fit (and there are many many good causes out there that i urge you to donate to), but i hope that if my little drawings have given you joy over the years and you have the room in your budget, you'll consider supporting me!

no matter what - i genuinely appreciate all the kindness i have been given. i try very hard to keep catcrumb a self-driven art exercise - just one cat a day, doesnt have to be perfect or even good, just has to be a cat - but i couldn't have kept up the hobby without so many people's joy. it's been a genuinely incredible experience for my silly little scribbles to have positively touched people's lives - in-jokes between friends and partners, a gentle reminder, tattoos and baby clothes, something to look forward to... it's really been a flood of human kindness.

*crumbles into dust after finishing this* Thank you for reading! This The Hobbit webcomic adaptation thing takes a lot of effort to put together and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate every comment. I also really appreciate the people who’ve spread the word of this comic to their friends! <3

And finally, we’re at the Song of the Lonely Mountain! Within Tolkien’s canon, The Hobbit is an in-universe book that was “written” by Bilbo Baggins, who occasionally lies/embellishes/exaggerates things. The tonal differences between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are explained by Bilbo and Frodo/Sam being different kinds of storytellers, with different relationships to “the truth.” This idea is the core of how I’m adapting the novel!  Bilbo is an unreliable narrator who is literally ‘drawing’ from his own limited experiences;  the different art styles reflect the different perspectives of other characters.   The “dwarf art style” in this chapter is inspired by stonework/metalwork in general— but especially by a mix of art deco, Celtic art, and European folk art. 

The central tension of the comic is between Bilbo and Thorin, who each have wildly different ideas about what kind of  story they’re in. Thorin is in a grand fantasy epic, while Bilbo is in a lighthearted children’s book adventure.  The tragedy is, obviously, that only one side of the story ever gets to be fully told.

On a sillier note, a few years ago I had my first gay crush on a lesbian who sang while playing the piano. This chapter is dedicated to the piano lesbian. I hope they’re doing well, wherever they are. XD

I think I might need a bit of a break but I’m hoping for the next chapter, titled “Dawn,” to arrive on January 13th. And your comments/support really do help motivate me to get more done! ^_^
