Hey! What were your favorite books/authors growing up and what are they currently if you don't mind me asking? I would love to know where you get your inspo from cause you write so pretty
hello!! ohhh.. i love this question itās so cute. thank you for the compliment and for asking! š apologies for my rambling heheh
growing up, i was never allowed to read mostā¦ popular series because my mother went through an extremely religious phase until i was a teenager. dodged the bullet of succumbing to Harry Potter and the like, so i always found myself in the library reading the most obscure things!
i obsessively read the Deltora Quest books by Emily Rodda most of all. the covers were so sick. i canāt recall which one it happened in, but when the main trio all had their toes chopped off?? i do not think 8 year old me should have been reading that, but i was obsessed with dragons as any other kid should be! it lead me to reading The Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini, too. anything fantasy that was a bit odd held my attention. The Pricker Boy by Reade Scott Whinnem, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, and all of the Moomin books by Tove Jansson were some other favorites!
i also read a lot of fairytales (to the surprise of no one, iāll bet) and The Mabinogion. i still go back and reread those whenever i can. The White Cat is one of my many favorites!
as an adult i do not get to read much, unfortunately. so, i do sort of feel that my writing is a bit stunted at times. i was combing through a lot of Mercedes Lackeyās stuff for a little while. and recently, i finished The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock. a coworker gave me Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz and whereas I do not care for his writing that muchā¦ parts of that particular book were really intriguing to me. poetry is nice too, always, but if anyone were to ask me for a list of my favorite poets i think that i would combust <- so many things in my brain and i can not remember most unless iāve obsessively read over their work 90 times minimum sorry.
butā¦.
i think that most of my inspiration comes from music with lyrics that capture me and long bouts of daydreaming, nowadays. i also like to visit abandoned places or overgrown parks when i need a place to think or justā¦ feel for ambience. my favorite places in the world right now are this huuuge swamp full of alligators with a tiny cemetery thatās at least two hundred years old (like fifteen people have died there in the last decade & i will never be one of them) and a park that houses a supposed werewolf (no matter how many treats i bring it is yet to be seenā¦ painā¦ but it is dreadfully silent there and a park keeper once told me āwatch out!! that thing is big and super ugly!!ā which i think is very funny). i would not recommend doing things like that however unless you are of similar stature to me (insert chad meme) or go with a group!! do not get eaten by a giant dogman, please.
in conclusion I am NOT immune to good cover art or the appeal of pretending to be a lil knight in the old woodā¦

kind of a weird question but have you ever drawn moomins? your style seems like it would be nice for them, soft and fluffy and creature-y!
i did once a long time ago for a request! but my art style was different then, not as fluffy.
i honestly never got big into moomins! i like what i've seen of the 90s (?) cartoon, and i keep meaning to finish it and read the comics, but i haven't gotten around to it. i really like seeing moomin fanart though. love how people draw the moomins
#asks#rambles#sometimes people draw moomin as this like bighuge fuzzy beastthing#and every time it makes me go āi need to be himā

Now, the movies/shows
(I could talk about these for AGES but I'll do that after I finish the main stuff ahahaha)
Die Muminfamilie -- 1959-1960 -- West German T.V. series, black and white. They were puppets!!
MÅ«min -- 1969-1970 -- this. This was. Interesting. It was a 65-episode long anime, but never got popular due to the fact of... how it was made. THEY HAD GUNS. THEY HAD TANKS. SNUFKIN SNIPED A BIRD OUT OF THE AIR. (Also the characters differed WILDLY from the originals. Both in personality and designs.)
Shin MÅ«min (not pictured) -- 1972 -- basically a remake of the OG MÅ«min in order to make it more kid-friendly. Though it still differed greatly, it followed the book storylines closer.
Mumintrollet (I think I accidentally did two pictures whoops) -- 1969-1970 -- a live-action series written by Tove and her brother, featuring costumes!!
Opowiadania MuminkĆ³w -- 1978-1980 in Poland, Germany and Austria, 1983-1985 in the UK -- THIS. THIS WAS MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD. I AM ILL FOR THESE SILLIES SPECIFICALLY. It was many stop-motion animated episodes based on the books, and they're known as the "fuzzy felt moomins" due to the fact they were mainly made of materials. The intro music hit HARD.
Mumi-troll i Kometa -- 1978 -- an 18-minute animation based on Comet in Moominland by a Soviet Union production company.
Shlyapa Volshebnika -- 1980-1983 -- ...We do not speak of these Moomins. They were made by a Soviet Union company, based off of Finn Family Moomintroll. That is all I am going to say. (Duck Snufkin. *shudders*)
Moomin -- 1990-1992 -- Probably the most popular! This was an anime, and it has been where most of the Moomins memes come from. Things like "let's go fill Moominvalley with crime," Moomin with a knife, etc. I don't know what else to say, man. It's just. Really cool.
Moominvalley -- 2019-present -- Still currently going on, with a new season planned to come out later this year. It's a 3D animation, and honestly? One of my favorites. They REALLY highlight things well, such as Snork being heavily implied to be on the autism spectrum and HOLY SHIT WHEN I TELL YOU THEY MADE SNUFKIN AND MOOMIN SO PAINFULLY GAY- ahem.
Aaasaand that's all I got for the Shows. I. Still have more though. Ahahahahaha-
Oh zamn I didn't know moomin stuff was still coming out currently! The most recent one ive seen (from memes) was the 90-92 one

Hello, saw this floating around and decided to fill it out, since I'm just chilling right now.
I don't really like tagging people, don't want them to feel on the spot, so if you see this, consider yourself tagged if you so desire. ^_^
20 Questions for Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on A03?
At the moment, 24, but I have more posted to my Tumblr than I do a03. I prefer it here (although the audience is smaller)
2. What's your total A03 word count?
Kind of an odd question. 479,942. I guess this is supposed to be flexing? But I really do feel like it's not the quantity that matters, it's the quality.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
In the past, many. (I didn't write for all of em but here's some of my previous fandoms) Currently I write for Pokemon.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
For complete fics, the top spots belong to some Owl House fics, the next is a short Breath of the Wild Sidlink fic, the next is my Legault/Heath Fire Emblem story, and then a compilation of Moomin stories for a Snufmin Week.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes. In my FF.net days, the norm seemed to be not to respond to comments. But these days, responding to comments seems to be the new norm. Besides, it's nice to thank people for taking the time out of their day to comment and for being such lovely human beings. Even if it IS really hard for me to think of how to thank them without sounding like a buffoooooon (I take a while to get around to it sometimes argh)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I have never done that. I want hopeful stories because they give me hope. I think the world needs more of that right now.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
How do you even judge that? Sorry I gotta skip this one, I have no clue
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Very rarely. In Owl House fandom, there are two characters who are not biologically related, did not grow up together, do not share a parental figure, and are not familial in any capacity. However, because a large number of fans have decided they have a "sibling vibe," they've concluded that shipping them together is vile and anyone who does so should be witch-hunted, harassed, slandered, doxxed, and worse. So, I got hate for that occasionally! That's about it, though.
9. Do you write smut?
I did once. Never again, lol
10. Do you write crossovers?
I wrote a Moomin/Deltarune crossover for a while. Nobody read it, though. A shame, it was fun.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Why would you steal a fic? Well, it's the internet, I guess you see just about everything online eventually, but I've never even heard of that. Art theft? Sure. Usually so the person can scam folks into commissioning them. Fic theft though? Nope. That's a new one for me. This is not an invitation for folks to try it out, lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Somebody asked me permission once to do that! I told them yes. I never heard back from them though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A lifetime ago I did a round-robin fic with my friends. I don't think I could co-write a fic now though, honestly. I'm so very picky about my headcanons. I would be horrible to work with.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Man, that's tough. I guess probably Mulder/Scully (see question 19) just because it was my first ship and left such an impression on me.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
'Second Chances.' It was such a cute story and so FUN. People loved it too. And I had it all planned out. But I left Owl House fandom before completing it. I never will return to it, I am too bitter with the final season of the show and the mainstream fans are also very tiresome to deal with.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hmm. I'm getting to be pretty good at outlining things and figuring out the story's structure. tbh ~90% of my story is often done before I even start my first draft, either due to the vivid daydreams I have, trying stuff out and then trying different things out in my head (& the notes I take on said daydreams) or the progressively more specific outlines as I work things out. That said, there's definitely still stuff that simply does not work on paper that seemed so good in your head. And there's a lot of magic that just seems to spontaneously happen while writing the actual draft out, and it's so important to stay open to that. Whoops I am rambling. I guess in summary my strength is finding a satisfying ratio of outlining stuff vs. staying open to ideas and letting the story lead me in the direction it wants to go.
Also I think I'm pretty good at dialogue. Action/scene description is harder for me, but dialogue feels easy.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My ideas tend to be very Big. I have great difficulty writing shorter stories. This sucks because I do not have limitless time and energy and I can sometimes bite off more than I can chew. I would love to write shorter stories so I can try out a larger number of ideas. I also want to improve my prose, I need some more variety in there, imo.
My primary weakness, though, is I only write as a form of escapism when I feel depressed. I want a healthier relationship with my writing and with fandom. Basically, I need to learn how to do things casually, to not let an interest consume me completely. I'll let you know if I figure out how to do that, no luck so far.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm a boring monolingual. I'm not going to write in another language unless I know at least a little about it. Toss in a few phrases or sentences, sure, but nothing more than that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The X-Files. I was a Mulder/Scully shipper. We called it MSR back then, MulderScullyRomance. I was a young lass back then, and it was my induction to shipping and romance. I loved them because they had fantastic chemistry and a strong partnership built on trust and mutual respect, despite their differing worldviews and interests. Also because I really really liked Scully.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
Hmmmmm. Tough to choose. I really like "Acquired Taste" because it was the first really long fan fiction I wrote and finished. (At least, I think? I had a long Stargate fic back in the day but we don't speak of that) And I wrote it after a really long break from writing fic (years and years). It has a very special place in my heart.
Is it my best work, though? Mmm. Not sure. I'm also pretty fond of "Ships That Pass in the Night," my longest work. I put my heart and soul into it and got so many comments/interactions, and it has a lot of happy memories.
I also really like some super short stories of mine, though. This one is 613 words long but I feel like it says everything my longer stories on Julinemo do. I also loved writing Support Conversations for Fire Emblem which force you to tell as much as you can in such an incredibly short format. (GBA-era Fire Emblem) I am so proud of those, they pushed me a lot as a writer.
I also like the fics I've done that are mostly genfic, because again, they involved trying something new. They tend to be my least popular 'cause ships reign supreme I guess. That's fine though, that's just the way fic writing goes.
#tag games#fanfic#just fanfic things#guys I did so good I could have went on and on about my weaknesses but I didn't#trying to have a healthier outlook yo

never apologize for bringing ycgma into smth
also... to ask more abt the au, I'm not rlly familiar w/ the source material, but from what I've read there's the original Finish comic and then a Japanese animated series was made loosely based off it.
which one is your au most similar to?
well the most recent version i had watched was the 2019 animated series so that's fresher in my mind, but i'm in love with the 90s one i just think the writing and animation is so charming and comforting and because of that i think it's the world i picture the au in most. though the themes between snufkin and moomin are similar to me across all the versions and it's my favorite thing about the series. a lot of the more complex details about who the characters are and how they think is interpretation, i guess? but it's based off the real developments in the writing
#i love exploring characters like snufkin and imagining how they think and process things#and i relate him to wilbur in my mind (and dream to moomin) so au brainrot is inevitable hehe#i love a blorbo going through an identity crisis and/or actualizing healthy relationships and inner peace for the first time#(if that wasn't already obvious about me..)

Iām having so many feelings about Little My right now.
From the outside, sheās just another one of the Mymbleās many kids; the smallest member of a huge family, whoās never had her own space, shuffled from place to place and raised by an absent guardian who really doesnāt seem to care much about her at all. Of course sheās turned out loud and abrasive; she had to be, to make herself big and take up space and force people to pay attention, because otherwise sheād get lost in the shuffle.
And then she comes to Moominvalley, and meets Moomin and his parents, and she forms a real friendship and chooses to stay and ends up adopted. And sure, sheās still loud and abrasive and a troublemaker, but sheās a neglected child (her mum didnāt even realise sheād stayed behind) and for the first time she has a real family and friends in the bargain and itās just really getting to me right now.
I havenāt seen the whole show yet (I donāt mind spoilers) or read the books (I know sheās not the same in those I donāt think she has this side of her), but do you think she ever worries about her place in the home? Do you think sheās afraid on some level, deep down, that theyāll want to get rid of her, just like how they wanted to get rid of the rest of her old family? Do you think she pushes the boundaries sometimes, just to make sure sheās really loved?
IDK, I just have a lot of feelings.

Asking about fixing S2 of Hilda! :D
(I watched it, but my brain is very much like a sponge, so there may or may not be some holes in my memories of it. But I'd love to hear your opinions on that!)
Okie, so, I've talked about my problems with Season 2 before, but I'm going to go over them in the most detail I can here, before I explain how I'd fix them. Sorry in advance, but this is going to be long.
My Problems:
Fundamentally, Hilda is still my favourite show, and more of my favourite episodes are in S2 than in S1, but there's one big thing that ruined the season for me, and that's what it did to the relationship between Hilda and Johanna. Season 2 wanted to have an arc where Hilda makes mistakes and needs to learn not to lie to her mum, but instead, in the narrative presented, Johanna is the one in the wrong to me.
It's absolutely a cycle. Hilda lying about her adventures makes Johanna worry, which makes her more protective, so Hilda needs to lie even more. But The Troll Circle establishes pretty plainly that this cycle started with Johanna; when Hilda runs outside the wall by accident, her immediate reaction is "Mum would kill me if she knew."
And the way Johanna acts when Hilda comes home proves that she's right; Johanna has become more restrictive and isn't letting Hilda do the things she used to. She wants Hilda to be safe, I accept, but this is after a whole season where Johanna repeatedly says that she loves Hilda for who she is, and explicitly includes her adventures in that (see The Bird Parade and The Troll Rock especially).
Because it is a part of who Hilda is; "such is the life of an adventurer" is her mantra, and even Season 2 itself establishes that she's been allowed to roam freely on her own in the wilderness since she was about 6 years old, the same wilderness that Johanna wants to keep her from in The Troll Circle.
Hilda's choices aren't "lie to her mum" or "be good", they're "lie to her mum" or "give up being who she is". Johanna's the one who changed, and it's not even properly acknowledged; they try and retcon the troll from S1, and just claim that things have always been this way between Hilda and Johanna when that's just not true (I'd argue The Troll Rock implied Johanna knew about it anyway).
The show does try and show Johanna's side, especially in The Fifty-Year Night, but that's one of the reasons it's my least favourite episode. I know she finds it hard, being so harsh on Hilda, but she doesn't have to; she should have been more understanding at the end of The Beast of Cauldron Island, it's her fault things got to that point, and nobody's forcing her to be more protective. She needs to realise she's being unfair and that she hasn't handled this well, and as a result it feels like the narrative is guilt-tripping Hilda for her mum's mistakes.
The Stone Forest hits into the same issues; I'm not going to deny that what Hilda says to her mum in that argument is genuinely hurtful, and that she shouldn't have said it, but she's an upset child. The resolution of that episode is that Hilda needs to stop hiding things, but the conflict was caused by Johanna being restrictive and honestly, more than a little selfish; I'm not trying to bash her, I know why she wants Hilda to stay home and spend time with her, but she should have let her go.
I'm glad that things seem to be back on track in The Mountain King, but when Hilda has to promise not to hide things at the end of The Stone Forest, it doesn't quite work as a resolution for me, because while I do genuinely appreciate Johanna telling Hilda she loves her for who she is, she doesn't promise to let Hilda be herself or make any apologies of her own. It's "you have to talk to me" not "you can talk to me", and for me that's the distinction that really ruined the season.
And all of this comes from one, single place:
Everything I've just mentioned, including all three of Johanna's worst scenes (the dinner in The Troll Rock, Hilda's first grounding, and the argument over Dungeon Crops in The Stone Forest) and the resolution that I didn't think went far enough, are lifted directly (including a lot of dialogue - although some of it, especially in that final resolution, is said less kindly in the graphic novel) from the graphic novel Hilda and the Stone Forest. And this is the fundamental problem; Season 2 of the show has to adapt this story, which is a problem, because Season 1 of the show made substantial changes from the graphic novels, that honestly made me think that maybe there wasn't a way to do the Stone Forest arc well in the show.
In the graphic novels, Johanna is not a good parent. She's not as bad as the tie-in novels, where she genuinely reads as abusive in all but one, but she starts out as a generic "overprotective parent" stock archetype, and only really breaks out of that a couple of times (she's actually very good in Hilda and the Bird Parade, but in a completely different way from the show version of that plotline). Hilda in turn is a little more selfish and rebellious, so their whole dynamic is different.
And The Stone Forest, in both versions, has Johanna at her absolute worst. It's actually my least favourite graphic novel, specifically because of how awful Johanna gets in the beginning, which is basically just an extended falling-out combining all of her worst moments from Season 2 and making them even worse. And that's where the problem crept in, because in order for the Stone Forest arc to happen, Hilda has to try and sneak out via Nowhere Space, and Johanna has to try and stop her, and the whole thing needs to be precipitated by a mother-daughter falling out.
So the solution the show's crew took was to try making Johanna more like her comic counterpart, and to space the arguments that start The Stone Forest out across the whole season so it doesn't feel abrupt. But the two versions of Johanna are fundamentally different characters, and Comic Johanna is already a bad parent who's flaws aren't acknowledged in this arc, while in the show she's a realistically flawed but genuinely amazing parent and those flaws are addressed in Season 1.
And the result was just making Johanna almost as unsympathetic as her comic counterpart in Season 2. I don't even think that it really cured the abruptness, because it's still an awkward retcon in the first episode, and there are still episodes in S2 where Johanna is firing on all cylinders (The Deerfox and The Yule Lads - which actually handles a mother/daughter dispute caused by Hilda really well), so to me it feels less like a relationship that's having ups and downs, and more like a relationship that's fundamentally changed but only sometimes.
(There are other problems with adapting Hilda and the Stone Forest, namely David and Frida, but I think the show actually handled them well).
So, How Would I Have Done It?
I'm going to rule for this that we have to keep the fundamental plot of The Stone Forest; Hilda gets in trouble with her mum, gets caught when she tries to escape, and has to learn a lesson about being open after she and her mum get out of the Stone Forest. For a while, I genuinely wasn't sure how to make that work within the show in a way I'd be happy with, but in the end, thanks partially to the tie-in novels of all things, I do have a solution: we're actually going to build up the relationship shift, and it's going to have an acknowledged shared responsibility.
The Troll Rock happens almost as it does in canon, but there is no moment where Hilda thinks her mum will 'kill' her for going outside the wall. She still gets home late, and there's still a little awkwardness in the conversation, but Hilda gingerly admits the truth:
"Well, I was going to go to David's... but then I saw this elf getting kidnapped by a dirt clod with legs, and me and Twig kind-of had to go outside the wall to save him."
And Johanna just gives a patient sigh; there is a bit of tension in her voice, she's clearly not 100% happy with this, but she also accepts that this is her daughter:
"That was a good thing to do, sweetheart, but please be careful outside the wall. You know I worry about you."
From there the episode goes on as normal; barring one thing. I'm torn between cutting the "you never told me about that" exchange entirely, and changing the tone of it. In the latter version, instead of suspicion, Johanna is genuinely just surprised, and Hilda's response is something like "Wait, I didn't?", but either way, things go on normally from there; we've established that there's going to be friction between Hilda and her mum, without making things bad immediately.
The next big change is that The Eternal Warriors doesn't happen. It will, eventually, but I'm taking a leaf from the tie-in book Hilda and the White Woff, and saving it for later use. Every other episode gets shunted up by one space, but is otherwise unchanged until we hit The Beast of Cauldron Island, where I'm going to make a major change.
Instead of Hilda just lying, we're going to build on The Old Bells of Trolberg; when Hilda reaches the flat, she's reluctant to cancel their picnic, but she is prepared to explain things and possibly even ask for Johanna's help. But when she gets inside, Johanna is apologetic, and before Hilda can explain, she does:
"I'm really sorry, Hilda, but we can't have our picnic today after all."
"Why not?"

Thank yall so much @mjf-af @cheriboms and @alex-a-fans for tagging me!!! This is gonna be a fun one :D
This year:
1. How many times would you guess you watched the first Back to the Future movie?
I think around twice!! Once in a hotel room and once at a friend's house for labor day, plus the last 7-ish minutes when we found it on TV in another hotel room over Thanksgiving break :D
2. Did you get any sweet bttf merch? If so, what!
YESSS I DID!!!!! My dad gave me a Hot Wheels DeLorean from the third movie for Christmas, and my bf gave me a Doc and Einstein funko pop that I'd been losing my mind over š those off the top of my head, I'm sure I bought myself some other things that just aren't coming to mind lol
3. How many cans of Pepsi Free did you chug this year?
I don't think any,, I'm more of a regular pepsi enjoyer myself
4. What was your favorite bttf fanfic you read this year?
In all honesty I didn't read much fanfic this year, but it was always a pleasure to read @bg-sparrow's mcflyjuly and doctober drabbles!
5. A favorite bttf fanart you saw this year? (please give us a link, not a screencap/repost!)
Ohh jeez I cannot choose just one so here are...
^^ this one from @cineshemp, the colors and lighting of this piece are so pretty (and it's true to life too!! I live a few hours away from the actual mall where they filmed and the sunset there looks so similar to this), and both Marty's pose and expression are so on point it's crazy. Like the cheeky little half-grin?? That's him. That's his spitting image. That's so him that's my Marty McFly <33
^^ this one from @fiddlstyx, I love this one because 1) just fiddl's art style in general is so cute, and 2) because this is so true to the scene! Fiddl nailed Marty's spooked expression, and the hand vibrates my brain so good. Both the shape of the hand (I struggle so hard with drawing hands lmao) and also especially the transparent effect, which is hella impressive to me on its own but on top of that it's traditional art,,, I would've struggled so hard to achieve that effect on paper so this totally blew me away!!
^^ and finally this one from @cheriboms!! I absolutely loved the perspective and expression on this one, I adore how cartoony it is :D cheri is somehow always able to draw doc looking incredibly doc-like while simultaneously making him look entirely her own (same goes for Marty too) and it never ceases to amaze me. This fandom is filled with such incredibly talented people and I'm so lucky to be friends with them <33
^^ OH OH AND!! THIS MARTY THAT MY BESTIE @goldendoodlerlockerlove DREW ME FOR MY BIRTHDAY TODAY :))) THE SEROTONIN I GOT WHEN I OPENED MY PHONE TO SEE THIS SILLY GUY
6. Did you create any bttf art or fanfic? If you did, what one(s) are you proudest of?
I did!! I didn't draw or write a whole lot of bttf stuff this year, I only did a few small things but I'll link em anyway cause I'm still proud of em :)
^^ the one mcflyjuly prompt I had the time and energy to do!! I based this fic off of a few episodes of the 90s cartoon iteration of The Moomins. The episodes I based this off of are about a child who turns invisible because of her bad family life (Marty's circumstances in this fic aren't as severe, but he's still Going Theroux Itā¢ļø). I wrote this a little angsty throughout but with some hurt/comfort at the end,, and I really love how it turned out :)
^^ and then this is I think the one piece of bttf fanart that I drew the whole year š just a lil Marty I drew on a to-go cup during my work shift. I'm very proud of him tho I feel like he's very Marty-y :D
7. How many times were you late for school this year?
Uhh not very often!! I think I showed up a little late to maybe 3ish classes? Which isn't too bad haha
8. Did you watch any other movies/TV shows with BTTF actors in them?
Yep! I watched Clue (1985) for the first time which had Christopher Lloyd, then had one one of my friends watch Star Trek III: The Search For Spock with me which I actually forgot had Christopher Lloyd as the main villain š my college friends and I also watched Over the Garden Wall twice in the fall (Elijah Wood voicing Wirt and Christopher Lloyd voicing the Woodsman), and then my family and I watched Elf on Christmas day which had Mary Steenburgen :)
9. Was there a memorable moment you heard a Huey Lewis song this year?
I don't think anything really groundbreaking, just a few times when I was in a store and one came on and I started jamming haha
10. How many times did you fall down this year?
Probably a lot but the only moment I can immediately recall was eating it hard on the residence hall stairway right after saying goodbye to my parents for the semester LMAO š
11. Did you get to see BTTF: The Musical? What was your experience like!
Sadly no, although I really want to š„² I still gotta look up the clip from the Thanksgiving day parade that I missed!
12. How many times did your mom retell the story of how she and your father met?
Mmm probably around 3-5? But it was never really the same retelling,, it was more like she just told me new details or stories about when they were dating. It's always really sweet :)
13. If you could describe your year in a BTTF quote, which one would it be?
"Ah, wait a minute, wait a minute Doc--" (this year moved WAY too fast lmao)
14. ā”ļøLIGHTNING ROUNDā”ļø Did you get to: go on any trains, skate on a skateboard, ride a horse, drive a DeLorean, run in the rain, go to a dance, hang up a clock, play the guitar, pull an all-nighter, read science fiction, or drive thru Burger King this year?
15. Your future is whatever you make it! So what are you going to make of this coming year?
I'm gonna try to make more of an effort in my classes, and I'm hoping to expand more upon a play I started writing for class last semester! It was initially just for the assignment but now I've gotten attached to the characters and I have a little lore down so who knows >:D
Gonna be honest I have no clue who to tag lmao. I feel like a lot of the people I know have probably been tagged already so! If anyone else sees this and wants to do it feel free to :D and thank you so much @mjf-af for making this game, I had a blast doing it!!
BTTF Year-End Tag Game!
This year:
How many times would you guess you watched the first back to the future movie?
Did you get any sweet bttf merch? If so, what!
How many cans of Pepsi Free did you chug this year?
What was a favorite bttf fanfic you read this year?
A favorite bttf fanart you saw this year? (please give us a link, not a screencap/repost!)
Did you create any bttf fanart or fanfic? If you did, what one(s) are you proudest of?
How many times were you late for school this year?
Did you watch any other movies/tv shows with BTTF actors in them?
Was there a memorable moment you heard a Huey Lewis song this year?
How many times did you fall down this year?

Snufkin, moomin, muddler, and joxter dealing hcs with love at first glance (neutral s/o gender wise) ? How they go about confessing their feelings ?? Sorry if this too many characters
I am just a fool, and I'm still only on ep. 21 of 90s Moominvalley, so I'll only be doing Snufkin and Moomin whoops. Maybe one day I'll finish the series... one day...I tried to make both of them have similar lengths, but honestly, I got really into Snufkin's... I might have to write a fic with this as a base.
Snufkin
Ooooooooooh boy
Snufkin is not the kind of man to fall hard and fast, he's more of a softly over a long period of time sort of guy
But when he saw you committing illegal acts out and about, doing something he was just about to do he got a little infatuated
You're new to Moominvalley, which would explain why he's never seen you before
So as any sane person with a bit of a crush would do, he begins following you around
Watching you and watching what you do
He falls in love from afar long before he even approaches you
When Moomin invites you over for tea without telling Snufkin and he waltzes in, ready to tell Moomin about the vigilante justice he committed last night and you're there, he freezes
Moomin introduces the two of you, utterly unaware of Snufkin's one-sided affections towards you
Snufkin tips his hat and offers you a hand, covering the blush that adorns his cheeks
You just smile and shake his hand before Snufkin has to excuse himself by saying something about fishing and practically running out the door
The next time Snufkin actually talks to you you're the one to approach him
You find him playing his harmonica on a secluded hill on the outskirts of Moominvalley and decide to sit down next to him and start up a conversation
The two of you get on like a house fire, quickly shifting the conversation from his music to what you've been doing around Moominvalley
You match his theatrics quite well, throwing every one of his quips back at him
Eventually, the fact that Snufkin packs up and leaves every winter comes up, but you don't seem upset at all. You understand his need for space and solitude, and happily tell him that you wouldn't mind waiting all winter to see him again
That gets this man's heart GOING
You understand how personal his winter journeys are to him, and admit to having the same need for solitude every now and again
Snufkin finds himself becoming unable to become tired of your presence, but maybe that's because you always seem to move on once he's met his daily social limit
Finally, winter rolls around.
You're not there to bid him farewell with the rest of the Moomin family, and he can't help but feel a twinge of pain in his chest
He leaves, walking to the edge of Moominvalley, where he sees you, standing, bundled up, and cheeks flushed because of the cold weather. (cue actual writing bc I'm way too into this)
"Hello, (y/n)," he greets, slowly coming to a halt in front of you.
"Hello, Snufkin." You smile. "...I wanted to see you off, but I'm truly at a loss at what to say. I got your letter."
"Ah..." Snufkin had hoped you wouldn't find it until after he was gone.
"Well," he says. "If you're willing to wait, I'd love to spend more time with you in the spring. If you'll let me."
You smile. "I would love to spend more time with you. Try not to feel you too lonely when you're out there on your own."
At this, Snufkin smiles back. "I will certainly try."
Moomin
Moomin, unlike Snufkin, is a big softie and shows it
You come to stay in the moomin house while you get situated into Moominvalley, and Moomin get a little feeling in his chest the first time he sees you
You're just so polite and kind! What's not to like?
Because you're staying in the moomin house, Moomin his ample time to get to know you, and you him
You meet all his friends, including Snufkin, who, while a little weird, seems to like you enough for Moomin to be overjoyed
Moomin brings you little gifts, too. Just things he thought were pretty or would look beautiful in your new house
He's a little sad to see you leave the moomin house and move into your own, but he knows you're happy with a place of your own
And that also means that he can stop by whenever, and the two of you can have some privacy from the prying eyes of Little My
He shows up regularly to tell you about whatever he has on his mind, show you one of his many trinkets, or to just seek a little quiet time away from his family, which everyone needs every once in a while
Moomin is just... entirely smitten, and he's not good at hiding it
But that's okay, because what's there not to love about Moomin?
Nothing. That's the answer.
Moomin is lovely, and spending time with him is amazing
Itās just so wholesome and warm and soft... uggg my hearttt
The two of you are stuck in a mutual pining situation for quite some time, to the point where the two of you enter a relationship without either of you noticing
You only notice on an autumn afternoon
You had just woken up from one of your afternoon naps, cuddled together for warmth from the chill fall air
Moomin is soft and warm, and frankly smells like roses, and you've never been happier
Moomin is awake too and gently places a kiss on your hand, which makes you grin and press your face into his chest to hide your blush
And then you realize that you're probably in love with Moomin, and he's in love with you
Which is funny, because Moomin seems to realize the same thing at that moment too, so he stutters out your name
He tells you how he's felt deeply for you ever since you came to Moomin valley, and how happy you make him
He looks so cute, twirling his tail around nervously and not meeting your eyes, so you grab his cheeks and tell him that you care deeply for him too, and you'd be happy to properly start a relationship with him
Moomin is so happy he tackles you to the floor, knocking you off of the couch and the warm blankets you were bundled in
You never properly tell anyone that you're in a relationship, but it's not hard to tell
The moomin family loves you already so like, you don't even have to worry about that
Snufkin makes fun of Moomin by telling you about all the times Moomin has gushed about you to him, which makes Moomin scream because that was supposed to be private, Snufkin!!
Very sweet, very warm, very good

MUN AND MUSE QUESTIONS ā”
list 5 of your museās favourite sensations.
obviously, the rush of stealing; specifically the running, the slap of the wind when heās almost caught but runs before it happens.
sitting on the couch, occupying himself with whatever, hearing mother hum along to her radio in the kitchen, the squeak of her shoes across the floor while she cooks.
when some gullible idiot in the pawn shop saysĀ āthat seems like a fair price...ā
waking up half-hungover in the last minutes of morning, face pressed into a pillow, the tug of the blankets while the warm body next to him rolls just a little closer.
the warp of reality when heās out of his mind at a party; the room spinning, the music somehow muffled, his eyes unfocused and his head buzzing just slightly while time seems to slow and skip at once.
do they have any pet peeves?
people who donāt like fidgeting and will either stare at someone who Is/huff abou it really obviously or ppl who will just straight up put their hand on his knee to stop it from bouncing. perish
their comfort read? (could be a book, magazine, comics, etc)
my mans doesnāt read his comfort read is a text from his mom LMFAO
if the book they are reading turns out to be shit, do they push through just for the sake of finishing it, or do they move on and find something else?
see above but heād just toss the book aside and give up as he did many times in his youth.
their comfort tv show / film?
the moomin show from the 90s, he will watch that any day of the week WHILE holding his big 23 year old moomin plush ^^
a song that is currently stuck in their head? (or multiple)
something from the 80s most definitely, usually billy joelās its still rock and roll to me.
the next three questions are for you. do you have anything special in common with your character.
i do be projecting my mental health, adhd, and deflective humor on this bad boy KFDJLHGKFD but also just little things like his taste in music or incredibly poor diet ^^
what brings you the most joy about writing this character, right now?
EVERYTHING victor conley Is my joy heās my oldest and dearest oc, he means so very much to me, his character and story has gone through a lot of little important changes over the years but i am so Dearly dearly attached to him. i get joy From the act of writing him, bc anytime i get to do Anything with vic its just !!!! my favorite. i love seeing his different dynamics and the way he grows through plots and exploring how his mind works and Learning because of him / so i can write him properly-----my own oc really do be my favorite character tbh
who would win in a fight, you or them?
i mean, me, because he doesnāt like fighting and wouldnāt really put in any effort because heād feel bad, but if he Did try? id be fucked this guy is armed and dangerous KJDFGHKDFJ
any advice from your muse?
i would never in a million years take advice from victor conley but i think some of the obvious ones are to take care of yourself, love yourself, dont let people walk all over you, dont do drugs stay in school eat ur vegetables KLJFDHGKJFD and also remember to love the ppl in your life every day bc you donāt know which time will be the last chance you get ;__;

top tenĀ tagged by @linkspookyĀ š explanations under the cut! sorry for rambling xo ā rules: name your top ten favourite characters from ten different fandoms, and then tag ten people - @osomanga @kara-suno @anonimarevolts @zeninmaki @wildbishonen @shysheeperz @tkmewthyouĀ @kaldurlenn @joxterism @marshmallowdonutsprinkles
snufkin okay so heās the only one not from an anime or manga but i had to put him on bc heās the most important fictional character to me, ever. i grew up watching the moomin cartoons in the 90s and thinking about it instantly calms me down - they used to air the episodes early in the morning when it would still be dark outside: the landscapes were moody and cosy, the characters were so softly spoken and articulate... itās just peak nostalgia. anyway, snufkin is moominās best friend; he returns to moominvalley every year to be with his friends during the spring and says his goodbyes to go adventure again come winter. it upsets moomin when he leaves but snufkin is adamant that quiet and solitude are important and healthy, and itās not fair to expect him to compromise on his independence - that made a really big impact on me as a kid, especially as someone who never really had theirĀ āownā space (twinsies). relationships arenāt weakened by physical distance or time, theyāre about communication and understanding. that was important too. i donāt think i realised just how influential it had been until i was an adult but snufkin is an anarchist. he first shows up in the comics when moomin and sniff are talking about opening a bank - he tells them they should plant fruit trees instead. he destroys private property and rescues orphans, he refuses to participate in things that donāt bring him joy.Ā when heās asked where home is, he replies, ānowhere. or everywhere! it depends how you look at itā -Ā the whole world belongs to him, and the whole world belongs to everyone else too.
yomo renji in general, i like characters that trudge along in the background and do the nitty-gritty work that supports the main story. i like people like that irl too. more than anything else, yomo is desperate to form human connections, even though heās shackled by self-doubt and self-loathing. he just wants to positively contribute to a community, thinking heās most useful keeping a quiet eye on people who might need protection/guidance (while still giving them space to grow and act themselves) or foraging for human corpses so that others arenāt in danger or moral anguish doing it for themselves.
bird boy is a total weapon -Ā āthe perfect ghoulā - and youāre reminded over and over again but a lot of his growth is about rejecting violence and repurposing his power as something productive that he can use to help the people around him instead of hurting people (the yang to utaās yin). in the first few chapters, he says he kills humans (heās a ghoul, humans are food, itās natural) and yet heās consistently framed as a scavenger who seeks outĀ āroadkillā [suicide victims] for sustenance, even before coming to anteiku, and implements a system so other people can do the same.
suguru getou i was originally gonna say meg bc i love him but, having just finished The Flashback Arc, i canāt stop thinking about getou and iām beyond impressed with how akutami has managed to ground him so well, so sympathetically. getou is the sick, warped darkness to the hopeful light that gojou commands but... in an uncomfortable twist, the reverse is true, kind of.
actually, gojou is arrogant and confrontational and hyper individualistic. heās a dissident. getou is obedient, compassionate, self-aware... he has a sense of social responsibility and passionately believes that his skills should be used to protect those who canāt protect themselves - non-jujutsu sorcerers - and all of the suffering he endures as a result is worth that. idk if others are reading his downfall differently but, from where iām standing, that overwhelming responsibility never goes away, he doesnāt give up on it - he just starts to view the social landscape differently and begins to see how jujutsu sorcerers are vilified and mistreated in spite of all the good that they do. theĀ āweakā arenāt really weak when theyāre able to organise and assert collective power over a minority, and so his sympathies shift.
the nail in the coffin for getou is learning that the hurt and pain could be eradicted from the world by cutting the head of the proverbial snake: non-jujutsu users generate cursed energy, so get rid of non-jujutsu users and cursed energy wonāt be generated. itās all horribly, weirdly rooted in good intentions that weigh him down and misdirect him.Ā shinazugawa genya i feel like the bond that slowly starts to develop betwen tanjirou, and zenitsu and inosuke (in particular) is nicely foiled by genyaās lonely journey towards becoming a pillar. after losing almost all of his family and having sanemi walk away, genya is angry, antisocial, rude, violent, evasive...
heās characterised as competitive, as if he hates his peers and wants to leave them in the dust as an act of self-satisfaction, a power fantasy or whenever, but this is a deliberate misdirection to cover for the fact that heās scrambling to be a pillar so that he can reconnect with his brother and prove to him that he can protect himself; that sanemi doesnāt need to shoulder everything alone like he used to. his entire goal is an act of apology.
and in a story where so many characters are able to hone these exceptional skills, genya is uniquely disadvantaged as the only one who canāt master breathing techniques. rather than having a hero moment and powering up, his need to reconnect with sanemi is so strong that he essentially decides to compromise his humanity and become a kind of monster by ingesting the demons heās pledged to annihilate. amajiki tamaki i wish i had a a longer explanation for this one but itās actually super simple: tamaki is a really, really, really good portrayal of a person burdened with severe anxiety. the way he physically carries himself, the way he hides his face, his manner of speaking, his dependency on his mirio, how he interprets compliments as trickery, how he needs to be pushed and pushed and pushed before heās finally able to release his potential... every single scene with tamaki felt deeply personal when i was reading bnha and i knew exactly what he was supposed to be feeling. shinmon benimaru sometimes good, nice people donāt fit a little friendly mould and i like that benimaru is hostile and rough and antisocial, even with people he cares about. he doesnāt expect anything of people, he doesnāt want them interfering with him, and he wants to help and support them all the same because he believes in community. heās completely oppositional to the special fire force because he thinks itās a tool to pursue an ideology rather than to protect people, which is why itās so important when the eighth are finally able to win his approval - they become the only company the seventh consider allies, and itās proof that their objectives are righteous. despite his reputation as... kind of a nuisance, his skill is acknowledged by everyone and heās universally regarded as the strongest fire soldier there is. in spite of his antisocial attitude, he agrees that itās important to share that with younger fire soldiers - heās incredibly patient and understanding with them, helps them to individually adapt. the way he (and others in company seven) operate in contrast to the other companies when fighting infernals is really cool to me for two reasons: (1) it provides a commentary on how cultures and traditions often struggle to survive when theyāre systematically (forcefully) replaced through power and wealth - although the subtext is a little troubling because itās unclear whether Åkubo is conflating multiculturalism with globalisation which, uh, big nope; and (2) philosophically speaking, the approach to death is interesting. where the other companies essentially perform last rites and offer absolution to the deceased, benimaru personally takes responsibility - at the request of the people in his district - for sending them off in huge public display, kind of like a festival intending to celebrate their life. i think it speaks to how profoundly he values life. akihiko kaji i liked akihiko from the beginning because heās stoic and introspective and also excitable and dumb. heās a people watcher and waits for opportunities to softly guide uenoyama and mafuyu when theyāre quietly crying out for help but doesnāt interfere any more than he thinks is necessary because he knows they can make their own way to where they need to go. i liked akihiko even more when he got really fucking messy. his relationship with ugetsu is sweet and itās incredibly ugly and unhealthy because they both fail utterly to communicate with one another - theyāre both to blame for avoiding and hurting each other, and i think thatās a really normal issue that people find difficult to overcome. iām super interested (and really nervous) to see how his relationship with haruki develops. heās done some horrible things to haruki and i want him to be accountable for those things and have them affect their relationship in a realistic way.
tanigaki genjirou one thing i really, really love about golden kamuy is the way noda satoru incorporates the importance of minority cultures into the story, and tanigakiās apparent abandonment of his matagi heritage is really beautifully written. matagi hunting traditions shaped his life as a young man, itās how he was able to really assimilate to the people around him and form relationships and - without getting too spoilery - he divorces himself from it all when heās overcome by grief and hatches a plan for revenge against the person responsible. so, by allowing himself to surrender to negative feelings and thoughts instead of seeking support and learning to heal from what happened, he becomes a total shadow of himself.Ā
makimura takeshi i know iāve gushed about it before but i canāt properly explain just how incredible it felt seeing an asexual character in manga dialogue about being asexual, and devilsā line does it twice. the reason iām so attached to makimura in particular is because he doesnāt seem to have fully figured it out - and heās kinda... comfortable with that. he wants to be with someone and he wants to be monogamous but he canāt understand why he doesnāt feel sexual desire towards her; he knows his feelings arenāt platonic but doesnāt know whether they can really be called romantic either.
not to go dark mode but i very vividly remember just how lonely and horrifying it was battling with those uncertainties when i was a teenager, thinking i was broken because i didnāt have Normal Human Feelings and needed to be fixed. i was so worried about it that i thought about all the boys i knew, picked the one i thought was the nicest and actively tried to develop a crush on him. it was dumb as fuck but, ten years later, i realise it was really desperate and sad too. i forced myself to have ~my first kiss~ (it was horrible) because i felt like i was getting left behind and i think i wouldāve put myself in worse situations as i got older if i hadnāt suffered with such bad social anxiety.
i hadnāt really thought too much about a lot of this stuff for yeaaars but it all came flooding back when i was reading devilsā line. it was bittersweet bc i was remembering all of those shitty feelings but also watching this character grapple with those same questions and go: i donāt know yet and thatās not weird, letās just grow with it. i still donāt totally know whether iām ace or aro or bi, or whatever, but iām trying to be okay with just... not knowing.
misora shuuji anyway, devilsā line isnāt actually a manga with a specific focus on sexuality and gender but shimanami tasogare is and all of the characters are written beautifully. if you havenāt read it yet... then why havenāt you read it yet? misora is only about twelve years old and watching them battle with their growing pains is really compelling - theyāre closeted but, through the lounge, they have somewhere to explore their gender and all the questions they have about it. theyāre amab and present as traditionally feminine wrt clothes, wigs, makeup, etc. but canāt quite tell if they see themselves as a girl, a boy or non-binary.
with the onset of puberty and anxieties about physical changes to their body, misoraās story puts a lot of emphasis on the pressure they face to just āmake up their mindā about something thatās actually incredibly complex and doesnāt have any easy answers. they snap and shout and get upset, especially when tasuku (the protag) tries to push them into a corner because he wants a concrete label or identity he can attach to misora, even though space is exactly what misora needs.

hi i am here after finishing your post about finnish (shdhjdjdjf okay don't shoot me) pls teach me finnish cuss words shshdhjfjf i only know 3 finnish words: kiitos, onnea and sisu shdhjdjdjf also antaa palaa but that's bc you taught me that shshdjjdf
this is my fuckin domain lmao finnish is the best language when it comes to swears and you canāt prove me otherwise
iād like to start with the petname my parents use of my brother and i; pallinaama. it means testicle face. it took me 10 years of my life to realise that in most families this would not be a typical petname but weāre a little advanced lmao
the thing about finnish cusses is that theyāre so.... endless? like you can have something like saatana and it has a zillion lesser cusses related to it like saakeli and saakutti and so on, for moments when you already have saidĀ āsaaā and realise itās not the place to use saatana so you have to divert the direction. to teach cusses is one thing; to teach how to use them another
vittu = cunt. vittu is the ultimate. native anglophones thinkĀ āfuckā is the ultimate bc itās both a noun and a verb and thereās fucker and fucking and so on. idiots. you canāt even begin to understand the extent vittu can be used. itās a substantive - finnish substantives have over 2000 forms. vittuilla is one of the possible verbs, each one has like 10000 forms. vittumainen, vittuuntunut, vitunlainen - thereās a few adjectives, each with distinct and different meaning that have nothing to do with the literal meaning. If i say the ways to use vittu are infinite, iām probably not exaggerating. when you learn how to use vittu, you have understood the entire finnish grammar.
paska = shit, another common cuss, more appropriate than vittu. but since it means poop it is hilarious and never gets old.
perse = ass. i have never used per se in a sentence without giggling. persephone will always be a hilarious name.
hiivatti is the cuss that moomins use in the 90s anime. itās not a real, bad cuss, but the cultural signifance is massive.
kilinvittu: cunt of a baby goat. history and context of this escapes me, but it is a totally normal cuss, if not a common one.
paskanmarjat = means the same as bullshit would, literally shit berries.
also yall know how the french haveĀ āviva la france?ā iād argue the finnish version isĀ āsuomi finland perkeleā.
this is barely scratching the surface of the art of finnish curse words and if i ever were to really go into this itād take like..... 200 part youtube series or something lmao and 20 parts of that alone would be dedicated to the nuances of vittu

Another 5 underrated Halloweeny cartoons
Last year I make post like this about 5 very obscure spooky cartoons that needed more love. This time Im gonna talk about some cartoons that are quite known but could also be more popular. As I said last year, if like me, you wanna watch every cartoon in existence, here are some 5 underrated cartoon series to watch in halloween.
1) The Real Ghostbusters
This one was actually one of the most popular things back in the day, and to this day you may find some remains of its once huge fandom lurking on the Internet, but the idea of this post is to make new people interested in it, specially young ones.
As you may know, most 80s cartoons were practically long commercials for selling toys and this was no exception, HOWEVER, the execution here was so great you easily forget it. Sure it was quite cheesy at times and the script got worst past the first couple seasons (this because some of the best writers quit after some pretty terrible and misogynist decisions the producers made), but trust me, the main reason to watch this is because it was WACKY as hell. Some scenes really catch you off guard, you donāt expect a lot of things to happen, either because the writers were master minds... or they just didnāt care and wrote the first thing that came to their minds.
And then, there is also the ghost designs. Just look at those things in the image above! What the hell are those supposed to be? the ghost of aliens? They dont look like death people at all! There are so many good ideas in this show that are incredibly inspiring, specially if you like to design creatures like me. And the animation for its time was pretty cool too!
I would also recomend the sequel show, Extreme Ghostbusters, which was a pretty good follow-up and also counts with wacky creatures designed by the amazing Fil Barlow!
2) Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
Another one that was pretty popular back in the day, basically Nickelodeonās gold mine along Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy. This one also had a lot of incredible monster designs so full of personality and an incredible voice cast that goes from Charlie Adler to Tim Curry himself. At least for me this show seriously did better work recreatingĀ āmonsters as a kid would imagineā than Monsters Inc or Fosterās Home for Imaginary Friends.
The Gromble specially steals the show with its Dr. Frank-N-Furter-like personality, every single of his lines could be your seniour quote. Really so much thought in these creatures, making multiple gags about their appearances or abilities, rather than just being randomly designed monsters.
Is kinda sad that modern shows wouldnāt try an artstyle like this, specially because people nowadays would label it asĀ ātoo uglyā.
3) Garakuta or Mr. Stain on Junk Alley
A pretty obscure one! Shall have probaly saved it for another list? Anyway, a lot of you may know Popee the Perfomer, a creepy cartoon byĀ Ryuji Masuda that usually makes intoĀ ātopz 10 mast disturbenz car2ns lolā, and it was indeed pretty unsettling. But before that one Mr Masuda make other interesting cgi projects that really deserve some recognition too.
One of those was Garakuta (also know as Mr Stain on Junk Alley), and used to air on Adult Swim (at least where I live >:( ). It consisted in short 10-minute episodes about a hobbo living an alley full of garbage as well as a lot of creepy crawlers. It may wasnāt reallyĀ āhalloweenyā orĀ āspookyā, but at least half of the episodes revolved around scary stuff and creatures, but somehow always fnishing in a funny gag or almost ghilbi-like tear jerking ending. The uncanny 2000s cgi just adds to the creepy factor, aswell as being a silent show with no dialogue at all adds to theĀ āclassic fairy taleā feel.
I do actually consider this one an anime since is totally japanese ^^.
4) Making Fiends
Oh god! one of the saddest ones! And not because of the show itself but because of the story of its production. Basically, this one started as a series of internet shorts by Amy Winfrey on early 2000s, you know, the time for internet stuff like this (ie: Salad Fingers). Nickelodeon noticed it was kinda popular so decided to buy the rights to young and inexperienced Amy and make a full series. It sadly didnāt do well enough, and as is law on Nick: if its not a inmediate sucess... them cancel it and replace it for more crappy sitcoms or moar Spongebob. Poor Amy was left alone with no work and not being able to make more Making Fiends on Internet since the rights didnāt belonged to her anymore.
The premise is basically what the title or theme song tells you: a Mandy-like girl called Vendetta has a whole city scared under her control, she has the ability to make creatures that follow her orders and like to terrorize the citizens, but then another girl called Charlotte came, with a totallyĀ opposite personality to Vendetta she tries to be everybodyās friend, and of course, worlds collide! Unlike other shows of this kind, Charlotte doesnāt try to make VendettaĀ a āgoodā person, she is just being herself while Vendetta is also being herself, 2 different queens wanting to rule their world in 2 different ways.
At least the show kinda generated a little cult following with time!
5) Warau Salesman
I already talked about one anime here so lets talk about another! Literally meaningĀ āThe Laughing Salesmanā, this show got a little more popular this year after some review on youtube came sometime ago. However, IT CAN BE MORE POPULAR RIGHT!???
As practically every other show on the list, this one is also episodic, which is kinda weird for an anime, isnāt it? It just doesnāt tell a continuous story, is more like... gotta quote that one review... The Twilight Zone, every episode we know about some random person who wants something in life, till sometime its complaints are heard by this humble gentleman calledĀ Moguro Fukuzou, who promises to solve all his/her problems free of charge!!! Just... do exactly what he says, really...
We really never know whatās the deal with this guy, the main attraction, the show itself, is he a demon? just a horrible person? what are his ambitions? is he actually evil or just like to do awful pranks?
This show actually actually got a decent remake recently! but didnāt do good since an anime that is not about school teenagers with superpowers is not profitable these days.
PS: this is one of those anime that I would actually considerĀ āadultā since most of its episodes revolve the adult working life, alcoholism, money, taxes and how hard the life of the average japanese businessman is.
Letās finish with a bonus of some specials mentions that also deserve a watch, may talk about some of these shows in the future!
Martin Mystery, The Drac Pac,Ā Gravedale High,Ā Mr Meaty (mostly gross and unsettling than spooky), Monster Farm,Ā Toonsylvania, Hilda, Victor and Valentino,Ā The Funky Phantom, Legend Quest, Creepy Crawlies (1987), Gegege no Kitaro and of course YOUR SUGGESTION HERE and the Moomins, yeah THE MOOMINS, because 1) is not really underrated, became pretty popular again this year after the new series premiered and 2) While most tumble talks about how the 90s show was pretty cute and how gay Snufka and Moo-man were and all that...
the show itself wasnāt always cute...

THE GIFTENING 2019: Jet Wolfās Nomination Run-down
Last year, people said they would have liked to know which of the nominations Iād seen, or knew about, or liked, or didnāt like, etc. etc. I HEAR YOU. Under the cut, youāll find all the nominees in every relevant category (anime, non-anime animated, live action, movies, games), and a couple of brief notes on my familiarity (or lack thereof) and general feelings on the thing.
YOU NEED NOT CONSIDER ANY OF THIS BEFORE MAKING YOUR VOTES
Iām putting the info out there for those whoāve wanted to know, but that information is relevant precisely as much as you want it to be. I can and will liveblog something I hate, I can play a game Iāve played twenty times before. THE GIFTENING is for you, and while I wonāt lie (I wonāt pretend to like something I donāt, I wonāt feign surprise at a twist on my 21st playthrough), Iāll happily provide whatever entertainment in whatever way I can.
Also please note that if I donāt like something, that feeling comes with no value judgement. My disliking a thing reflects only on myself. So if you see Iām not a fan of something, or donāt think Iāll like it based on what Iāve seen or heard, please keep in mind thereās nothing personal toward in you at all in that. AND HELL I COULD BE WRONG FEEL FREE TO TRY AND SHOW ME
Anyway, enough with the blah blah. Join me under the cut if you care to know!
Anything marked only with ** means I havenāt seen/played it nor have any particular thoughts or opinions to share.

Project A-Ko - Among my earliest of anime experiences. A classic. A weird, weird little classic.
Re:Creators Ā **Ā
Read or Die (OAV) Ā **Ā
Revolutionary Girl Utena - Iāve no doubt my time of fully diving into this anime is approaching, but thus far, Iāve only nibbled at the edges. I know thereās shit here, there are too many people into it. MOSTLY THOUGH IāM STILL CONFUSED ABOUT WHY THERE WAS A KANGAROO (previous liveblogs here)
Rose of Versailles - Itās a historical anime and I think there are lesbians?
Samurai Pizza Cats - I could have this wrong, but I think this is a dubbed anime thatās hilariously unconcerned about anything involving the actual translation and plot? And itās about cats that deliver pizza? I think thereās a crow thatās the bad guy or something?
School-Live - I know the general premise and watched the first episode ahead of Docās Eight Days liveblog of it. What I know has intrigued me.
Serial Experiments Lain - I watched this waaaay back when. Bought it on DVD! Still have them! I cannot for the life of me remember how I felt about it.

Green Eggs and Ham (series) - Wait, what the hell, this is a series? HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS INTO A SERIES
Green Lantern: The Animated SeriesĀ **

Hazbin HotelĀ **
HildaĀ Ā **

Kidd Video - I feel like I SHOULD know this, but I canāt place it.
Kim Possible - Iāve heard of it!
KlausĀ **
Mao Mao Heroes of Pure HeartĀ **
Moominvalley (2019) - I know Moomins are those little white hippo things. I am pure confusion beyond that.

Over the Garden Wall - I did a couple episodes for my Patreon a few years ago, and have since finished watching the whole series. Iām up for a rewatch!
Rugrats - I know of it, but have only watched the Hanukkah special.
RWBY - Heard of it! I had the impression it was pretty queerbaity? (donāt quote me on that)
Samurai Jack - I know the premise, but never watched the series
She-Ra (80s) - YES I KNOW YOU
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) - Love it, love it. I still havenāt seen the most recentĀ āseasonā (itās a half season donāt jerk me around Netflix)
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse - I am a long-time comic book nerd and quite familiar with the Spider-Mans. Saw the film shortly after last yearās GIFTENING and enjoyed it.

The Loud HouseĀ **
The Super Mario Bros. Super ShowĀ **
Thundercats - I fucking loved Thundercats as a kid, hahhaha, there is no way it holds up.
Totally Spies - Iāve had several Patreon livestreams with the show, so have a pretty good general sense of the show at this point. Iām not sure itād make a good liveblog, though.
Venture Brothers - I think it features a blond buff dude in a black t-shirt?

Winx ClubĀ **
X-Men: The Animated Series (90s) - DID SOMEONE SAY X-MEN??? I love this show. Hubby and I still to this day quote this show. This show is not good.
X-Men Evolution - Evo, on the other hand, is EXCELLENT. One of the single best incarnations of the X-Men, in my opinion. Seen all eps multiple times, love it, can talk for a hideously long time about details you never in your life cared about, will probably not make it through an episode, please consider if that is a point for or against it before you vote. (previous liveblog)
Live Action
Agent Carter - Saw the Captain America movie, thatās it!
American Gods - Read the book
Atypical - I know the premise very loosely, and it sounds good, but Iād be a little concerned about accidentally stomping in all the wrong places with my giant clumsy neurotypical feet.

Batman (Adam West series) - A SERIOUS LIVEBLOG WILL RESULT IāM SURE
Black Mirror ("White Bear") - This episode still fucks with me to this day. Itās exceptional, and also very very complicated. This would be a heavy liveblog, be warned. (previous Black Mirror liveblogs)
Brooklyn 99 - Iāve only watched a bit of this and enjoyed it, but like most sitcoms, itās incredibly difficult to liveblog. (previous liveblog)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - One of my liveās greatest televisual loves. Joss Whedon and time have mostly driven that out of me, but letting my ego out to play for a second, I have to say, I give some pretty good Buffy. (previous liveblogs)
Cagney & Lacey - A formative favourite for tiny baby Jet Wolf! Itās a cop procedural, with all the downsides that implies, but also itās lady cop BFFs AND I LOVE IT AND THEM
Carmilla - A current staple of the blog, thanks to @cello-moon! Iāve just started Season 3, and if youāre a regular around here, you know how all this goes. (previous liveblogs)

Charmed (2018) - Also loosely known, but even less so!

Critical Role (The Night Before Critmas one-shot) - I havenāt seen this one shot, but I DO love me some Critical Role.
Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - We watched the whole series, and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. PODLINGS ARE VALID AND HUP IS THE MOST VALID OF ALL
Dear Friends **
Derry Girls - Watched the whole thing a couple times now, absolutely adore it. One of the best shows Iāve seen in a while. Once again though, comedies can be SO hard to liveblog.
Dinnerladies **
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - Iāve heard of the book series?
Doctor Who - Iāve tried SO HARD to like Doctor Who, and yet.

Galavant - I SUPER BELIEVE IN YOU TAD COOPER (previous liveblogs)
Good Omens (miniseries) - Read the book and survived the miniseries consuming Tumblr, but didnāt watch it myself.
Hannibal - I remember when this was EVERYWHERE, but mostly I remember that it was very gay and had that guy from Rogue One in it.
HellierĀ **
His Dark Materials - Havenāt watched it, havenāt read the books, I know nothing!
Kamen Rider (1971, ep 1)Ā **
Kamen Rider FourzeĀ **
Kamen Rider WĀ **

Leverage - I just watched and streamed my first two episodes last night on Patreon! Quite enjoyed it, more than I expected to.

Lost GirlĀ **

Midnight Dinner: Tokyo StoriesĀ **
Murder She Wrote - Actual lol, I have no idea why this was nominated, but I love it and also you. ANGELA LANSBURY ON TV WE ALL WIN
Murdoch MysteriesĀ **
Once Upon a Time - The premise is fairytales all smooshed together I think?
One Day at a Time (2017) - Iāve watched all but the most recent season, I think. Good show, very enjoyable, but mostlyĀ āwatch and forgetā for me.
Orphan Black - Currently liveblogging, thanks to @skylineofspaceā! Iām currently on episode 4, and absolutely loving it. (previous liveblogs)
Parks and Recreation - Iāve seen all but the last season, I think. Great show, but once again, Iād expect a difficult time liveblogging it.

Re:MindĀ **
Russian Doll - Never seen a single second, but Iāve heard nothing but good things through the grapevine.
Sapphire & Steel - HUBBYāS TROLLING ME AGAIN. This is an oooold old old English sci-fi/horror show that I used to watch when I was a tiny tiny Jet Wolf and it scared the shit out of me. IāM STILL MILDLY TRAUMATIZED BY IT TO THIS DAY
Schitt's CreekĀ **
Sense8Ā **
ShanaraĀ **
SmashĀ **
Star Trek: The Next Generation - I love me some Star Trek. Iāve seen all of TNG, but havenāt sat down to fully rewatch the series ever, so most I only saw when they first aired.
Stargate SG1 - I think this is based on a movie I also havenāt seen.
Tantei no TanteiĀ **
Terrace HouseĀ **
The Good Place - OKAY SO THE GOOD PLACE. I watched the first two seasons and LOVED THEM. Mostly. I DO NOT love the Eleanor/Chidi thing. I do not love it to the extent that it completely sucked out my desire to continue with the show. I havenāt seen anything of it past the S2 finale. (previous liveblog)
The Haunting of Hill House - Watched and enjoyed the whole miniseries. I confess to being uncertain about liveblogging this though, as I feel Doc is doing it so much better than I could hope to do.

The MiddlemanĀ **
The Tick (2016) - I know and enjoyed the cartoon!
The UntamedĀ **
Twilight Zone - Who doesnāt know the Twilight Zone, itās a fucking classic for a reason.
Twin Peaks - Believe it or not, I have never seen a single second of Twin Peaks. I know itās weird, I know Laura Palmer is dead, I know functionally nothing else.
Ultraman XĀ **
Westworld - Havenāt seen it, though I believe itās loosely based on the movie of the same name which I HAVE seen.
What We Do in the Shadows (series) - Iāve seen neither the series nor the movie, but know itās Taika Waititi and is reportedly hilarious.
Worst Cooks in America - WAIT AM I IN A TV SHOW
Xena: Warrior Princess - My OTHER great love. Adore Xena, adore everything about it (well, mostly), have devoted a not insignificant amount of my heart and brainspace to Xena, if you have me talk about Xena I may never shut up. (previous liveblogs)

Bohemian Rhapsody - I love Queen and Freddie Mercury, and I had exactly zero interest in watching this film.
Brave - A Disney/Pixar movie I actually liked!

MidsommarĀ **

Murder on the Orient ExpressĀ **
Newsies (1992)Ā **
One Cut of the DeadĀ **
Pacific Rim - I saw it in the theater and actually didnāt care for it over much. Iād be willing to give it another shot though, it might be better second time around.

The Room - I know itās considered one of the worst films ever made, but Iāve never had the personal privilege of experience.
Tokyo GodfathersĀ **
Us (2019) - Saw it in the theater, totally down for seeing it again with perspective on the whole movie.
VenomĀ **
Wall-E - Probably my favourite Pixar film!
Wayne's World - Saw it back when! Does it hold up? WHO KNOWS
What We Do in the Shadows (movie) - As mentioned above, Iāve never seen it, but Iāve heard itās an amazing Taika Waititi joint.
When Marnie Was ThereĀ **
Wolf Children Ame and YukiĀ **
X-Men 2 - GOD I LOVED THIS MOVIE. Iām not sure how well it would hold up, but when it came out? One of the few films Iāve paid to see multiple times in the theater.
Your NameĀ **
Games
Ace Attorney (blog) -Ā Iāve tried multiple times with the Ace Attorney games, and I must be honest and say I just donāt like them.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Iāve watched a playthrough! The storyās not good. THE IDEA OF PLAYING IT STRESSES ME OUT SO HARD HAHAHAH YOU FUCKS
Among the Sleep (stream)Ā **
Arkham Knight (main story run) (stream) - Very intrigued to play this. Iāve tinkered a bit, but get distracted by all the side stuff. The motivation to just streamline the story very much appeals.
Baba is You (stream) - Iāve heard great things about the game, but in aĀ āIt was great!ā way, I still know fuck all about it.
Black Closet (blog)Ā **
Borderlands (stream) - Love Borderlands, itās fun as hell. Iād probably angle for Borderlands 2 over the first, but would have a good time however it went.
Catherine ClassicĀ **
Cho AnikiĀ **
Control (stream) - Iāve seen a little bit on Steam, just enough to know Iām interested.
Cthulhu Save Christmas - Never heard of it, but great title.
Cuphead (stream)Ā **
DanganronpaĀ **
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (blog)Ā Ā **
Dead by Daylight (stream)Ā **
Death StrandingĀ **
Death TripsĀ **
Detention (stream)Ā **
Disco Elysium (blog) - Iāve heard great things, would be totally okay with a reason to play it.
Doki Doki Lit Club (stream) - I was so intrigued with this from THE GIFTENING a couple years ago that I wanted to work it into the main schedule, but it just didnāt happen. 100% on-board the chance to keep going!
Dragon Age: Origins (stream) - I KEEP STALLING WHENEVER I TRY TO REPLAY THIS GAME SO I CAN MOVE TO DA2 THIS IS MY PERSONAL HELL
Dragon Quest Builders 2 (stream)Ā **
Dream Daddy - I know the premise, and the idea of blogging this is beautiful.
Final Fantasy X (blog) - Have I played X? (asks Hubby) YES I HAVE. Itās one of the few that I finished. Final Fantasy games usually entail so much grinding that Iām not sure itād be a great liveblog, but Iād do my best!
Firewatch - Iāve been wanting reasons to play this SO MUCH.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (stream) - Iām preeetty sure everyone just wants to hear how many terrible accents we can do. And thatās legit! Iāve since figured out how to play mobile games on my PC so the video quality would be better than last time, but that is the only improvement I could promise. (previous stream)
GrisĀ **
Half Dead 2 (stream)Ā **
Hand of Fate 2 (blog) - I think this is a card game?
Hatoful Boyfriend/Pigeon Fucking (blog) - IS IT EVEN REALLY THE GIFTENING WITHOUT PIGEON FUCKING (previous liveblogs)
Hollow KnightĀ **
House Flipper (blog) - Iāve tentatively had my eye on this on Steam for a while, so seeing this nominated tickled me.
Just Dance (stream) - Jesus wept, you all DO hate me. IF I HAVE TO DO THIS I WONāT DO IT ALONE
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (First Chapter) (blog)Ā **
Legend of Zelda (stream) - I AM SO BAD AT THIS GAME WHY
Life is Strange (blog) - See below!
Life is Strange (stream) - I streamed all episodes of Life is Strange a couple years back. While Iām not sure Iād have much to offer on a replay, Iāll happily do it if you guys vote it in. MEANWHILE, hereās a playlist with all the Life is Strange streams.
Life is Strange 2 - My understanding is itās a separate game from the first with new characters and new story.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm (stream) - And I believe this is a prequel to the first Life is Strange featuring Max and Chloe.
Little Inferno (stream)Ā **
Long Live the Queen (blog) - YOU KNOW PINK PRINCESS (previous liveblogs)
Long Live the Queen (stream) (with walkthrough to not repeat) - I laughed so hard at the nomination specifically giving my ass a walkthrough.
Mass Effect 1 - Iāve played it multiple times! The Mass Effect series is one of my personal favourites.
Monster Prom (w/Hubby, Doc, & Jill) (stream) - AGAIN WITH VOICES I SEE YOU. It can be difficult to get everyoneās schedules all in alignment, so this may be subject to shuffling and delays, just to keep in mind.
Nancy Drew: Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake (stream)Ā **
Overwatch (stream) - I assume this is more group play? But we can talk details if it makes it into further heats.
Oxenfree (stream) - Iāve fully streamed Oxenfree on the Patreon. Itās well outside the exclusivity window at this point, and Iām happy to make those public if you guys were interested and would rather put your votes elsewhere. That said, I really enjoyed the game, and think a second playthrough could add a lot to the overall experience, so feel free.
Pathologic 2 (blog)Ā **
Persona 3 Portable (blog)Ā **
Pillars of Eternity (blog) - Iāve never finished Pillars of Eternity, but I do have a game with some significant progress I could continue. Alternately, I could roll a whole new character, and would play it however you guys chose. We have options if we go this route!
Pokemon Go (stream/videos) - Amazing. Here the link to last yearās Pokemon Go, if youād like some idea of what the fuck this is about!
Portal (stream) - The Portal series is great, I think it does some really interesting and innovative ideas with gameplay. Iāve played and finished the first two, though remembering the solutions to any of those puzzles is, of course, another thing entirely.
Recettear: An Item Shop Tale (stream) - THIS WAS THE FIRST THING I EVER BOUGHT ON STEAM. I havenāt played it in forever, and Iām not sure how entertaining it would be, but Iām down for finding out!
Resident Evil 2 remake (blog) - ITāS ZOMBIES. Thatās about all I know about Resident Evil.
ReventureĀ **
Sara is MissingĀ **
Shovel Knight (stream)Ā **
Slime Rancher (blog) - I have and have played Slime Rancher! Iām a little unsure about blogging it, but would try!
Slime Rancher (stream) - I WASNāT EXPECTING SUCH A RUSH FROM THE SLIME RANCHER FANDOM THIS YEAR
Stanley Parable - I think Hubbyās played this? I seem to recall it has a narrator who comments on what you do, but I donāt know much else.
Stardew Valley (blog) - Iāve never gotten as far in Stardew Valley as Iāve felt I would. Lots to do for me, yet!
Stardew Valley (stream) - Same as above, just in stream form!
Subnautica (stream) - Iāve done several Subnautica streams for Patreon, and if this gets through, IādĀ release them so everyone (who wants to) can catch up. If I recall, my last play left off with me exploring a big ass ship that crashed.
SuperluminalĀ **
Tales from the Borderlands - Itās Borderlands, but Telltale, though!
Tales of SymphoniaĀ **
Team SASV (Pokemon X/Y) - TEAM SASSY AND SOMEWHAT VAIN. If this gets in, Iāll need all the intervening time to try and find my fucking DS. (previous liveblogs, via the backup)
The 7th Guest (blog)Ā **
The Beginner's Guide (stream)Ā **
The Long DarkĀ Ā **
The Outer Worlds - I havenāt played this yet but would be extremely delighted for an excuse to pick it up and start.
The Walking Dead game - I watched Hubby play the first two installments, havenāt seen beyond that. Felt the second was weak, LOVED the first. Iāve been hanging on Holligayās playthrough, so Iām relatively familiar with the story again, save the last episode, which sheās not played yet. Iāve been wanting to before she did, to compare what I think sheāll do to what she actually does, so an excuse to get going on that would be welcome.
The Witcher 3 (stream) - I know @jewishsuperfam loves The Witcher, AND THAT IS ALL I KNOW.
Undertale (blog) - ARENāT I LIKE TWO MINUTES FROM FINISHING THIS. The fight where I left off was frustrating THE PISS out of me, but if this gets in, Iāll get Hubby to read up on what I need to do, and maybe get around that fight before the liveblog, so I donāt spend the whole time getting nowhere and then punching my monitor.
Untitled Goose Game (stream) - I just last month finished this on the Patreon! I need to double check that it would be out of the exclusivity window, but if so, Iād be happy to release it for you guys. I had a great time, but I donāt think thereās much to be regained from playing it again.
VA-11 Hall-A (blog)Ā **
VooDoo Vance: RemasteredĀ **
WattamĀ **
We Happy Few (stream) - I know the basic storyline premise, but little else.
What Remains of Edith Finch (blog) - I watched Holligayās stream of this and loved the story.
Wild Arms 3Ā **
Wild ARMs XF (blog)Ā **
Yakuza 0 (stream)Ā **
Zero Escape 999 (blog)Ā **
AND THATāS THAT. Sailor Moon Day and Miscellaneous donāt require much input from me ahead of time, I donāt feel, but if you have a question on anything there -- or something thatās unclear here, just shoot me an Ask. AND IF YOU FOUND THIS USEFUL PLEASE LET ME KNOW. It took me ... just SO much longer than I was expecting it to. Which I donāt mind, but if itās not actually helpful to anyone, thatās time better spent elsewhere next year.
