We should be outraged that the Vice President of an administration aiding an abetting the most documented genocide in human history can peacefully run for office. That is a sham. That is embarrassing. Especially when that person has stated they do not plan on enforcing any sort of concession from the murderous Israeli regime. There has been absolutely no mention of the other human rights crises and violations happening elsewhere amongst the colonized world— the ongoing conflicts in across Black and Indigenous nations that we tend to tack onto Free Palestine to show we absolutely do care about Black people outside of Western imperial cores. haha. We have made no demands because we, the masses, have no demands outside of feeling like everything will be okay again. We don’t actually care about these people as people. We care about them as symbols of liberation and as litmus tests to prove we, in the hard times, would “do the right thing.” If we cared about them as people, submitting to someone still pleased to orchestrate their deaths, which VP Harris is doing right now, would be unthinkable. We would be using this time of mass disillusionment to destabilize the empire’s business as usual. We want spectacle more than we want actual liberation for ourselves or for the people that we say we are in solidarity with. It doesn’t make any sense.

My name is Sanaa Odeh, currently in Gaza, occupied Palestine. I am writing this as a plea for survival, for a future for my family and myself.

Our lives are in immediate danger, with non stop explosions everyday and every night, tanks and guns all around us, and fear as a constant companion. It is a non-stop nightmare, every minute of every day, for 6 months. Everyday is a struggle for survival. Lack of food and clean water creating a crisis of death by starvation and dehydration.

Despite the endless nightmare, we are a resilient and strong family. My beautiful parents gave everything to raise us as successful daughters and we are so proud of what we have achieved.

I work as a graphic designer and my sisters: a nurse/educator, small business owner, a medical student, and a field coordinator. Despite being on the path to rich and promising futures, it can all be taken away in any moment. We have already lost several family members, including my uncles and their entire family. There is little hope that the situation will end soon, all of us waiting for our turn next.

We are looking to seek asylum in Belgium. This campaign will help support us in covering the costs to do so, specifically in covering the evacuation costs per person. Your donation will provide us with the chance to escape the endless horror we’ve been facing for the last 6 months and give us a chance to return to a safe, normal life again, where we can once again contribute positively to society.

I keep seeing people talk about Palestine as if all hope is lost like they’re already gone and “the least we can do it remember them” and quite frankly I reject that. These people are fighting for their lives demanding the world to pay attention to them. Demanding their freedom and their right to exist on their own land. In light of the absolute atrocity that is happening in Rafah I am urging everyone to remember why we’re protesting and that these people ARE HERE. They’re alive, they’re real, they have a beautiful culture that needs to be witnessed and celebrated so here are some Palestinian creators you should follow because Palestine is not lost. It is not an empty land that’s gone. They will never be gone and we should all keep fighting until Palestine is free and not a second before because Palestine WILL be free again. I’m focusing mostly on Palestinian creators on tiktok because I think it’s important to see the physically and listen them and just acknowledge that they’re people, they should have linktrees to their other social media. I encourage you to visit their pages and interact with them because they are also being censored especially on tiktok. My platform isn’t big here so please feel free to reblog and also add more links, I would love to follow more Palestinian creators as well!

@/anat_international - a Palestinian woman giving updates on what is happening in Gaza but also shares about Gaza before the genocide. She is currently being heavily censored by tiktok for talking about the genocide and is doing more “influencer” like videos to beat the algorithm. So she’s sharing more stuff about the culture like Tatreez clothing, and organizing pottery painting sessions with people who are palestinian and allies. Extremely informative! She’s taught me so much.

PLEASE READ!! Important news for fandoms!!

Hey guys! I know this isn't my normal post but I wanted to talk about something really important. Please don't scroll as this pertains to you, especially if you are in fandom spaces online!!

A bill called the Kids Online Safety Act or KOSA, has recently passed the senate. This bill is being passed under the guise of protecting children online when in reality it will harm LGBTQ children and children in DV situations. We can NOT let this bill pass.

Not only will it affect children it will also effect adults, your favorite fandom spaces will start being censored and it's even possible that social media companies will start requiring some form of ID when signing up to prove you are over 18.

Children are people too, they deserve to have a online community without fear of their physical safety. There are other ways to protect children online that does not include violating their privacy.

This bill as mentioned earlier, will increase censorship online. Anything the government deems problematic/inappropriate (which could literally be anything) will be removed from public platforms. This could include: Anything related to the LGBTQ community, pro-choice posts, posts about Palestine, and anything anti-government.

This infringes on peoples right to free speech. This bill is a gateway into more censorship, violation of privacy, and possible physical endangerment for children.

It is a parents job to monitor their children, not the governments. Please, please, please, like, share, and reblog this post to spread awareness!

Hello, I am mostly back and recovered at the time of writing this lol. June wasn't very productive writing wise (...for BA), which is fine because I needed that break! Look at everything I did do in June:

RELEASED CHAPTER 2 FINALLY

Spent like 2 weeks fixing bugs (dw chapter 3 I'll get beta readers so it doesn't happen again LOL)

Participated in the Raffle for Palestine + wrote and sent out the story to the winner!

Wrote about 5k words of Chapter 3

Wrote and edited Zoe's back story

Wrote most of Lars back story because I was inspired (sorry you won't get this until after Chapter 3 drops)

I'm pretty happy to have released Chapter 2! I'm gonna be honest, this felt like such a daunting release lol When I started BA, I was expecting no one to read it save for a handful of people and I'd just be chilling and writing mostly for myself like usual, so releasing it with over 1.5k followers was very daunting. With that said, I am glad people overall enjoyed the new chapter! The plan is for Chapter 3 not to take as long, but life is still hectic so we'll see. At the very least, it hopefully won't be any later then October (BA's one year anniversary month!).

I also just want to give another shout out to everyone who participated in the raffle for Palestine! Raising over two thousand euros in two weeks is still amazing to me, and I'm happy the IF community could come together like this to help out a cause! This was lowkey another thing I was nervous about since I've never really done anything that's felt like a personal commission before (asks definitely feel different lol), but other then my initial nerves the whole thing was a really nice experience!

Now, going into July, I want to focus on the UI updates I want to make. I have some things I want to shift around and change, and since coding is my biggest weakness I know it's one of those things I'm going to have to focus on. If things go well, I'm hoping to do a pure UI update by August. It'll mostly be the menu pages (achievements/stats/relationships/etc), but there are a few other things I want to add in and adjust outside of it. As for Zoe's backstory, that should be out soon, so keep an eye out of that! Finally, I also might not be too active in July. For personal reasons, July is always a hard month for me. Hopefully it isn't obvious, but just in case I'm not around as much as usual, that's why!

Lastly, I made the questionable decision to make a side IF. Updates will be very sporadic since BA is and will always be my main project until its completion. But if you want to follow it, it's To Taste Sweet Silver. An 18+ gaslamp fantasy about trying to steal the Fruit of the Old Gods in order to bring the world to an end. It's a little more niche I think, but feel free to check it out! The demo shouldn't take too long to get out since I did accidentally write most of opening already.

Smahan and family - vetted here - Smahan and her three children (ages 11 months, 5 years, and 11 years) have managed to evacuate to Egypt and later Morocco, but Smahan's husband, Hashem, is still in Palestine, because they didn't have the funds needed for the entire family to evacuate. A friend of Smahan's has made this GoFundMe on her behalf, with the goal to collect the money needed to help bring Hashem over the border and reunite the family. Their cat, Lulu, is also stuck in Palestine, but she went missing and they don't know her whereabouts, but are hoping that if she is well and is found in time, that she could be brought over the border too. It sounds like Hashem and his kids are very close, and they miss him a lot. This includes their 5 year old son, who has special needs. They have raised £2,152 out of their £50,000 goal (usually I donate 5$ but I bumped it up to 10 for this one because their funds are unusually low - only 4%)

Ayaa and family - vetted - Ayaa is 24 years old and worked as a language teacher. The fundraiser is to support her, her parents, and her eight siblings after their home and later their car were destroyed. It will be used to pay for their continued survival and hopefully evacuation to Egypt. The current goal is a short-term goal, as the full price of evacuation will cost them around $60,000. They have raised $16,630  out of their $35,000 goal - Donated some extra (7$) for this one too because their funds are so low. Mohammed Aldeeb and family - vetted - Mohammed is a doctor who specializes in emergency care. His home and the hospital he worked at were destroyed. The funds will be used to help him and his family evacuate to Egypt. There isn't much information about them, other than that they are a family of four, and include his brother. His tumblr is @mohammedaldeeb. The family has raised €44,653 out of their €55,000 goal

Mohammed Tahsen and family - Can't find a vetted page but I trust he's real. If anyone can find him on a vetted list PLEASE send it to me so I can add it here! - From this post! Anyone killed or martyred is to be called a civilian from Gaza or Palestine, before we talk about his status in jihad or his military rank. Don't forget to always add 'innocent civilian' or 'innocent citizen' in your description of those killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Begin [your reports of] news of resistance actions with the phrase 'In response to the cruel Israeli attack,' and conclude with the phrase 'This many people have been martyred since Israel launched its aggression against Gaza.' Be sure to always perpetuate the principle of 'the role of the occupation is attack, and we in Palestine are fulfilling [the role of] the reaction.'

Beware of spreading rumors from Israeli spokesmen, particularly those that harm the home front. Be wary regarding accepting the occupation's version [of events]. You must always cast doubts on this [version], disprove it, and treat it as false.

The interior ministry prepared a series of suggestions specifically for Palestinian activists who speak to Westerners via social media. The ministry emphasizes that conversations with them should be conducted differently from conversations with other Arabs.

When speaking to the West, you must use political, rational, and persuasive discourse, and avoid emotional discourse aimed at begging for sympathy. There are elements with a conscience in the world; you must maintain contact with them and activate them for the benefit of Palestine. Their role is to shame the occupation and expose its violations.

Avoid entering into a political argument with a Westerner aimed at convincing him that the Holocaust is a lie and deceit; instead, equate it with Israel's crimes against Palestinian civilians.

The narrative of life vs. the narrative of blood: [When speaking] to an Arab friend, start with the number of martyrs. [But when speaking] to a Western friend, start with the number of wounded and dead. Be sure to humanize the Palestinian suffering. Try to paint a picture of the suffering of the civilians in Gaza and the West Bank during the occupation's operations and its bombings of cities and villages.

Do not publish photos of military commanders. Do not mention their names in public, and do not praise their achievements in conversations with foreign friends!

Almost done with witches by Brenda Lozano. Good book, I enjoyed it. Next up is "never whistle at night" and then "brothers Karamazov". I should probably formally finish "go tell it on the mountains" i do this thing where I read different parts of books randomly and I technically read the book already but my official stopping place was halfway through. Did that with witches. But I read the end and then parts of the middle at random times and the first half completely. I feel like i gotta sit down and finish it all at once to observe the linear storytelling rather than the way I usually read.... so I'll add that to my list. I'll read go tell it on the mountains and never whistle at night at the same time because I get bored easily if i only read one thing at a time and i think i need a break from "trinity of fundamentals". I also need to read "the queue" by basma abdel aziz and "hijab butch blues" but those are on my phone and not physical and i don't like reading digitally. i do that with posts often, i scan parts of the middle and dont read the beginning and i sometimes reblog things that i shouldnt so i go back to delete them when i realize. Idk i just dont like reading things digitally i prefer it in my hands. Also need to read "if beale street could talk" as well. And "salt houses".

I keep trying to finish "supplication" by Nour abi-nakhoul but for some reason I stop partway through everytime. It's interesting but idk what makes me stop.

Oh and I gotta read "the white book" by han kang because I told my friend I would tell her what I thought about it. I'll get that when the library notifies me.

And of course I'm slowly paging my way through the "trinity of fundamentals".... can't say i enjoy it but it's another important book.

Gotta find time read George Jackson "blood in my eye" and the palestine history books i have but I'm just not in the mood to read them right now. I really want to read them soon tho. Been reading palestine research papers for school so I think my brain is craving fiction lately.

I'm gonna turn on asks so send me your book recs for fiction especially magical realismmmm and things with poetic prose. Bonus if it has an audio book version I can get from the library since my job is. Really boring lol.
