can i just say. and this is probably a niche hill to die on. that i am so gobsmacked every time someone vaguely hints at the idea that jotaro doesn't care meaningfully for the other crusaders, usually particularly kakyoin and joseph, when those two actually tend to be the ones he reacts to being hurt the hardest

like he cares for his loved ones!!!! that literally plays into his character motives in every single part he shows up in!!! stop lying to me!!!!!!!

finally played thru the infamous if demo and had an excuse to make a goth guy. with Facepaint and a coontail and everything. so here's Dane aka Lacuna of Dead Rat Society

ill be adding reference photos and fun facts below the cut for anyone interested!

first up is kallamar, with the firefly squid!

unfortunately, there arent really any naturally occurring blue squids. the best youll get are those that are clear, and just reflecting the water around them. my next best bet was the firefly squid! they can be found on the shores of japan, and their glow in the shallow water during spring is considered a tourist attraction. its hypothesized they use this glow not only for courting purposes, but also to blend in with the night sky from below!

then we have shamura, with the purple pinktoe tarantula!

these spiders apparently have a very mild temperment but are fast and quick to retreat when threatened! they nest high up in the trees of the amazon region of ecuador, but are also frequently found in cow fields and holes in walls. the venom - like their temperment - is more mild, as well as non fatal to humans!

next is heket (my personal favorite), the tomato frog!

these weird little guys are particularly fascinating! they can only be found in madagascar, and like a lot of frogs will puff up their body as a form of aggression to others. but the amazing part happens if anything tries to eat them! they secrete a glue-like toxin, that causes numbing in the mouth and eyes, and sometimes even triggers allergic reactions in humans!

after that we have leshy, the evergreen bagworm!

this was one i actually knew quite a bit about (it comes in handy already having a bagworm oc!) so i was particularly excited to draw him! bagworms are a species of moth with some very interesting sexual dymorphism: the female of the species dont pupate like the males do! they create a bag which they live inside, and dont even leave it to mate, spending their life as a worm. the males of the species pupate into full moths with wings! they can also be found in several continents around the world

then finally we have narinder, the egyptian mau!

theyre one of the few naturally spotted domestic cats, and are only on the tips of their fur! the tabby mark on their forehead is often compared to a scarab beetle, and the paler patches on their chest and arms almost look skeletal on the darker coats! they are the fastest domestic cat, able to run more than 30mph. theyre also a very rare breed, and known for being very active, sensitive, and loyal!

There was something digging into his side, maybe his rib, and it kinda hurt to breathe. Just a little. He spied Steve, out of the corner of his eye, something akin to devastation on his face. Heartbreak in his eyes. Tony would have moved. If he could've. Gone to his team. What he hoped was left of it. He could see Peter, and Rhodey, and Steve and Thor. But anyone else… He prayed to the gods he didn't believe in since he met what a real one was like that they were all okay. That Clint and Bruce and gods Pepper were alive. He wanted to hug Steve. Be hugged back. He wanted… he wanted to eat shawarma with his friends and drink crappy coffee at the park the way he and steve and thor always did on saturdays, and he wanted to go to art galleries with Nat and paint his nails with Clint. He wanted to sit in silence with Bruce and buy flowers for Pepper and play pool with Rhodey and test out equipment with Sam. He wanted to watch Morgan grow up and cheer for Peter when he got into his dream college. He wanted to… He wanted to see his team. Alive, happy, whole. And he wanted to hug them all. But that was really damned hard to do when one couldn't feel ones legs. Peter came into his periphery and Tony focused, shifting his head to look at the boy. Gods, he was going to miss him. Peter was bright in the same way Harvey had been, in the same way Tony liked to think he was. And he had this spark, this beautiful spark of life that made him so.. Joyous and happy and relieved to exist. Peter loved life, loved it whole heartedly and with open arms, even with everything it threw at him and took from him. Tony wanted him to keep that joy. They also have some pretty valid and intriguing conversations, really.

The impression I get is that they want to stay close, but deep down know it's better not to because they're so messed-up and would be even more messed-up as friends or else (and maybe it's the or at least one of the reasons why they attract each other?), but there's some frustration in that acknowledgement too. Like, doing something because you should is not the same as doing it because you want to and... Well.

I mean, there's more I could say, but this is the short version of how I generally feel about them lol.

Also, when he stops blocking his thoughts and let's someone peek at his thoughts it feels intimate? And not necessarily romantic or anything like that, but just like, "hey, this is a little piece of my soul, I'm sharing it with you". Or maybe I'm too romantic and trying to find the beauty in everything lol.

But then he finally speaks out loud and it feels deeper and more meaningful as well? I don't know. Maybe I'm becoming insane.

Lestat went like 3 pages without mentioning Armand's beauty. I'm proud of him.

Nevermind, now he is mentioning it 50 times per sentence. Even more than he did before. It's like he regretted it and it's making up for lost time lmao.

Some of the words Lestat has used to describe Armand so far: beautiful, sublime, ethereal, exquisite, perfect, soft, saint, angel (there's more, but it's been so many synonyms for beautiful I can't remember... still, you get the point). Not to mention comparing him to a Caravaggio and Da Vinci paintings.

I feel like he'll run out of words to describe him pretty soon.

And it's clear as a day that they can't stay together anymore, he's slowly coming to the realization he's losing everything and everyone he knows and will soon be alone again... I'm (not) fine.

Also, this is so BPD-coded of him. He's had these pretty sad and traumatic moments, but he never allowed himself to feel those emotions for too long, he always found stuff to distract himself with, tried to see the "the good side" of things, embrace them, be positive instead etc, but you can only ignore it so much until it becomes such a big problem you can't possibly avoid anymore. And then the emotion hits 9483958345x harder than it would have if you processed things properly and had better coping mechanisms. Like, I get him, but OMG. Get him some vampire therapist.

Btw, Armand feels pretty BPD-coded too.

insane to me that the trend on tumblr now is not only to not say anything in the tags on art but to genuinely not interact w it because some assholes ruined it for everyone and made ppl too scared

heres the thing: you cant possibly know if every single piece of art u come across that the op has dni and that u cross that. Frankly? i think dnis in general are terrible (not to mention completely ineffective) but dont be hard on YOURSELF because YOU didnt know and just wanted to share and gush over someones art

if someone genuinely has a problem with you sharing that art and interacting, thats on THEM. they can live their sad little life of always assuming the worst of people and never wanting to interact with anyone, but dont let the people that get offended you liked their art (or worse: screenshot your tags to be an asshole) make YOU stop interacting with people. Those people are miserable and want to make everyone miserable too

ive been on tumblr for ages. i miss when ppl talked and gushed in tags. Whenever i do get someone talking abt my art in the tags i love it! I screenshot my favourite ones and save it in a little folder for when im feeling really down about my art to remind myself someone out there loved it enough to type something out in the tags

dont let weirdos online that have their brains terminally rot by social media stop you from interacting and connecting with others and just getting to share a little kindness. The world needs more of that
