I haven't really done much art for tumblr (at all) lately, cus life, but! Here's a lil something I've been working on (it's a Xmas gift) 💙

(also peep that lil January calendar painting 👀 i did mini squares for each month for myself, because I need to have a physical one always, and they each have their own colour 🥺)

#sometimes i forget i'm a painter lol #this is just the base so i'll still add some cool stuff (colours and some gold leaf details hehe)#usually my thing is more flat/less busy painting (with more mixed media) but i've been digging this vibe lately #my art account is completely wiped cus i private everything earlier this year (same with personal)#but i wanna start posting again. not just old stuff but actually *make* something new everyday #like a little challenge i suppose #since i'm not currently working in my field and have being going through a bit of a rough adjustment period about ✨things✨#(plus the whole depresh spiraling)#i barely have been making any art at all that isn't just sketches/silly stuff #i miss painting. i miss making murals and working on an actual project etc #now that *some * things have been settled AND i finally have my own space i feel a lot more keen on working on it #i know i hardly ever talk about that part of my private life cus i do wanna keep it somewhat separate from here #but i guess i'm in a good mood and kinda ready to admit some stuff #??? that didn't make sense #i'm feeling hopeful for next year and have a semblance of a plan. #art #traditional art #watercolour #fanart #virvox project #shirakami kotarou #kurono takehiro #vocal synth #voicevox #another one based off the memories of some post i saw a while back. i was like possessed. to redraw vsynth characters in popular posts #also low key this was what it was like being 22 in university classes full of 18-19 year olds for a bit there LHJSKHJFSDAjdfs #THEY WERE nicer about it. but sometimes they would find out my age and i could see the 'grown ass' flicker across their eyes #especially when they topic of discussion was shit like sororities and me not knowing shit about it. in my defence i was 1) confused about #'greek life' for a while because i am mixed race and kind of ambiguous irl so i just assumed it was a like a cultural based society thing #(we have a lot of those in my school its very multicultural) and they made an incorrect guess about my ethnicity again and 2) when I DID #finally figure out what the hell 'greek life' was supposed to be i signed up cause a friend asked me to but i missed the first day of #orientation cause i was sick and then the sororities started sending really passive agressive emails to me so i got scared off LOL #random sorority sidetrack aside. it was really funny when i was like yeah i dont really understand the whole deal #and a classmate was like oh well yeah i guess you wouldnt have the experience how old are you again like 18?#and i was like........................................................i turned 23 a month ago <:3c #and her face journey as she realized i was like 3-4 years older than her.... my apologies my dearest classmate #sowwy for being in my early 20s. it wont happen again <3

I miss painting with watercolors man it's been so long. Crazy to me to think that for a good long while it was like my Main Art Form and now I haven't as much as touched a brush in like 2 years

#i kinda miss the days when i did mostly traditional art #i still do plenty of sketching and doodling traditional but i don't do a lot of painting anymore #there was this specific period after i got my wacom when i was still getting used to digital that i was doing a lot of watercolored drawings #and it was really nice i should maybe pick that up again sometime #i even have a brand new unopened box of watercolor paint that i got as a gift from my sister like... a year ago?#that i haven't touched at all. i should to something about that

This is my close friend. One day we worked together. When we came to the office we talked in the evenings a lot after work. It had almost psychologist sessions effect for each every time.

Once she came from her home town straight to the office and she had not much belongings with her but decided to take them in a suitcase. And after work I said that there might be a ping pong table not far from the office. And she pulled her rackets out her suitcase. What a coincidence, that was so funny. And we were playing until we couldn’t see the ball, that was so warm feeling.

I miss our long frequent conversations. We managed to talk now on phone

honest to god one of the most useful art lessons I ever received was by pure coincidence that I was sitting outside one day when a theater class joined the space and the teacher had them do exercises where they had to do different walk cycles by choosing a different part of their body to "lead" with and how that could influence their posture, rate of movement, attitude, etc. all to compose a unique character and like. yeah. To develop as any form of "creator" you really gotta dip into other forms of art and learn from them. You never know what lessons you'll be able to take to and from different experiences and skills

#txt it #kind of like how i miss doing inktober sometimes #bc when i did it i learned a LOT from switching to a traditional medium as a primarily digital artist #not just lacking an Undo button [insert canned laugh track] but legitimately from having to be more mindful about my pen strokes #emphasizing line weight / using crosshatching and stippling #using different tools and household objects to get perfect shapes/lines #a lot of stuff that i took back to digital art and still use even years later #anyway yadda yadda you gotta live different experiences to grow as a person that's not a new concept i know fbhghfb
