Did some kinda low effort screenshot redraws from the Screambrook special! It was pretty fun, the art style isn't really my cup of tea but the story boarders on this show are really good at coming up with fun poses :)

I tried to make Ashley and Dae look more like their voice actors, since all of the other characters are modeled after the people playing them, but Idk how well I did. Doesn't help that this is literally my first time drawing Ashley-

doodle dump!!!!! theres a lot of stuff in here, ranging back abouuuut a month and a half! putting explanations for all of these under the cut <3

1 - sort of a color study of a Forces screenshot cuz i thought the lighting was cool, but also its for a friends rewrite of the game!

2 - idk, i just wanted to draw hipster sonic from Boom except with modern sonic :P

3 - a silly concept for Prime! i have a headcanon that, after Sonic left the shatterverse, it sorta "reset" and repaired itself, and because of that it gained back the people it lost when it was originally shattered, aka Sonic and Shadow were brought into those timelines! the guy i drew here is named Breeze and hes from New Yoke -- Nine calls him Breezy :)

4 - a sorta-redraw of a screenshot from Boom. i just wanted to draw the bros hugging <3

5, 6, 7 - redraws of panels im particularly fond of from Scrapnik Island!

8 - ive been watching Sonic X and i absolutely fell in love with that little guy Bokkun so! i made a redesign of him if he was canon <3

9 - Surge in Android 18's outfit!

10 - triple s hand ideas <3 might make more of em with other characters

11, 12 - concepts of what i think Silver and Blaze looked like when they were kids!

13 - unfinished idea of what Silver's room would look like

16 - Chris Thorndyke redesign, specifically with idw in mind! i have some more concepts of him with a special wispon for crimson wisps. oh, and his wisps name is Ava!

17 - ive seen people draw Terios and Feels together, but Feels transitioned to Mika!!!! anyways, i just think those two could be a cute duo, sorta with a quiet older brother and peppy younger sister vibe hehe

possibly weird question; do you have any advice on how to emulate a shows art style? the way you're able to capture the cartoons for your comic is really inspiring; im just not sure where to start aside from maybe screenshot redraws? or breaking things down to see where they land on the face/body/etc, but i just wanna pick your brain on it

if there are drawing guides or reference sheets available, you can follow those. they do the breaking down for you. beetlejuice for example:

you could try screenshot redraws, or you could try tracing them too. this is perfectly valid when you're trying to practice and learn how to draw anything. i've done it with simpsons characters because believe it or not the style was difficult for me to do (it's too perfectly round) lol

all in all i don't really know what else to say. just draw them...a LOT. the difference between my toonjuices from, say, the beetleverse comics vs how i draw him now is noticeable i think, because i've already drawn him dozens of times by now HAHA

some styles will be easier to emulate than others. you're gonna have a hard time with some and others might come naturally to you. and if you're a beginner, you'll inevitably have that style influence your art forever in some way or another. choose wisely............................

day 7: Legacy / Favorite Ending

Sooo, you can totally blame @kinky-asexual for this, if he didn’t tell me about a HC he had and I wasn’t craving an excuse to make a new au then it wouldnt have been born. Im excited to sketch more of this.

I’ve never been good at layout/structure and I’m still getting used to drawing fully bodies cos I avoid that as much as I can, so some of it might look stiff but I had no structure for this layout at all. It was pretty much a winging it moment. So some gonna look a little off.

Not 100% struck on how I’ve done it but too late to change 🤷‍♀️

Hi! So I want to make a Spooky Month OC but I suck at drawing, do you have any tips or advices about drawing characters in the Spooky Month artstyle?

Okay so, I might not be the right person for this, cause I also am not all that great at drawing in the Spooky Month artstyle, but I did some character design at school so I might be able to give a few tips! Please do take everything I say with a grain of salt tho!

Spooky Month's strong suit is definitely character design. It's SO expressive and well done it's genuinely unreal. You might want to know exactly what your character is gonna be doing, or how their personality is gonna be like, because character design in Spooky Month cares a lot about things like these. For example: Radford works at a cinema, so of course he's wearing 3D glasses, but also his HAIR IS LITERALLY SHAPED LIKE A POPCORN.

So maybe decide on a job for your character, and try to start from there, get crazy with shapes and have fun! Spooky Month characters have designs that are both extremely simple to draw, since they use mostly basic shapes, but also are extremely thought out and meaningful. Another example of great character design is Pump

Now, I have no idea if you already had an OC in mind, but make sure to choose the right shapes to represent it. Something I see around in the fandom is people making these OCs that are like, serial killers and dangerous people and stuff, but then give them the "Lila"-like oval head. And honestly, nothing wrong with that, that's a choice you can use! But still, shapes allow us to understand a lot about how a character is just by looking at them. So you might want to experiment around a bit!

Ovals in Spooky Month are the "good" shape, let's just say. Most character with an oval head are sweet, helpful, kind-natured! It's often paired with oval eyes, so it's mostly a shape that's used for not villainous characters.

Circles are a bit more complicated, because Spooky Month subvertes the Circle Characters. While yes, they're also used to draw children, such as Skid and Pump, so they may come off as unthreatening at first, most main villains, such as Eyes, Bob and Dexter Doll (which is meant to represent the likes of a child, so that's a nice contrast), are mostly circle-shaped.

There's a very wide range of Square characters in Spooky Month. Square characters are usually bulky, big and strong. They often come off as threatening (such as Moloch), but there are so many other fun things you can do with them. Like, take Frank. EVERYTHING in his design should alarm us, him being square-shaped, the black eyes, the wide smile. Yet, he has a shape of the eyes that's very relaxed and chill, so we end up trusting him. As for Dexter, he's a mix of circles and squares, so we can't really understand his intentions right away, because he's shaped in the most confusing way possible. He's just made to be unsettling and leaving us to wonder if he's a bad guy or just an oddball.

You can do SO MANY fun things by mixing up shapes of faces and eyes it's INSANE. Also, you can mix up other characters' features to create a new one, if you're planning to do a fankid or stuff like that. Look at Ross, he's literally a mixture of all his parents' features!

My main tips for drawing in the Spooky Month artstyle are mostly

1) Play around with shapes. Be as cartoony as possible.

2) Try to be consistent with proportions, because, based on personal experience, if you draw the pupils of the eyes slightly off it changes the whole character's expression drastically

3) don't worry too much about details, Spooky Month has a very simple artstyle. You don't have to draw a perfectly anatomically correct hand, just whip up some cartoony three-to-four fingers and you're good to go

4) try to redraw some pre-existing screenshots from the serie to get familiarity with the way Pelo draws expressions. It helps a bunch.
