Ooooh I have a few questions for you to keep the ball rolling! 💚
Would reader and Beau from TMH ever get married? Have a kid?
How would BMD Ben react to their daughter (as a teen/young adult) dating a guy he sees right through as an asshole/maybe a bit like Ben used to be? Would Ben ever tell his kids who/how he used to be when they grew up?
Ooh thanks, Michelle!! 💚💚💚
These are great questions, wow...
Take Me Home (Beau Arlen x Reader):
Would the reader and Beau get married? Have kids?
Oh hell yeah, they definitely would get married! In Echoes, the last one-shot I've written for them, they've just moved in together. I think at that point, she and Beau would be thinking about marriage in the future, but maybe they wouldn't talk about it with each other right away. 😂
We know how Beau is about sharing his feelings, and the reader, being burned before on an engagement and the idea of marriage, knows she loves him but would be hesitant to make that leap...
Until Beau talks to Emily about it. His daughter is more and more becoming his sounding board, since she was so supportive of their relationship from the beginning. Emily would encourage him to get remarried if that makes him happy.
Emily: You're already living together. Doesn't that mean you want to be with her for the long haul?
Beau: Well...yeah. That's just about what it means.
Emily: Then what's the problem?
He can't exactly argue with that logic. 😂 I think he'd be so excited to propose, that he wouldn't even think about the "more kids" conversation until after they're engaged. The reader would think about it first, I think, wondering if he would ever want more kids someday. And if so, is that something she wants too?
Once they actually got around to sitting down and having that honest conversation, I think both of them would be open to it in a "if it happens, it happens" sort of way. Beau would have concerns about being an "older dad," 😂 but in comforting him and reassuring him that he'd do great, because he's already a great dad...it would make the reader realize that she does want kids, and she wants them with Beau. ❤️
(Hell, maybe I'll end up writing that in the future!)
Break Me Down (Soldier Boy x Reader):
How would BMD Ben react to their daughter (as a teen/young adult) dating a guy he sees right through as an asshole/maybe a bit like Ben used to be? Would Ben ever tell his kids who/how he used to be when they grew up?
Ooh, I have an ask that I plan to answer tomorrow that covers how Ben reacts to Lila having a boyfriend or girlfriend, but your question here is even more specific! Love it!
I think if he clocked the "asshole" in Lila's new boyfriend, Ben would call him out immediately. He would try to ban her from seeing him. And when that didn't work, he would 100% threaten the guy off without her knowing.
Ben would have to try to (badly) explain to her why he doesn't trust the guy, and why he's a skeevy little bastard.
Lila: Dad, you don't even know him!
Ben: Oh, I know him. Sweetheart, I know 'em all, better than the back of my goddamn hand. He's a fucking scumbag, and you're more than too good for him. Trust me.
Lila: What do you mean?
Ben would hesitate. He wouldn't want to explain to his daughter that he knows how that asshole's mind works because he used to be exactly like that, before he met her mother.
He probably wouldn't ever want to explain it to his daughter in his own words. Likely she'd have to piece it together from stories she hears about her dad from her mom, and/or her honorary aunts and uncles (like Butcher, Hughie, Loco, and Frenchie).
With his future son, Ben will probably have more "man-to-man" real talks about how he used to get women under the realm of "dad advice." 😅 When the boy got older, Ben would admit to him that he did use to fuck around. (Putting it mildly.)
Ben: I mean, if there was an Oscar for laying it the fuck down, I would’ve taken that shit year after year. Would’ve beat out Burt Reynolds by a fucking landslide.
Son: *grossed out but still confused* Who's Burt Reynolds?
Lmao. 😆
Thank you again for these questions, friend! 💕

In the second-season premiere of GLOW, which hit Netflix June 29, Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie) surprises her boss, frustrated filmmaker and wrestling-show director Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), with a dinky promo she filmed at a local mall during a free afternoon. The assembled wrestlers love it, as does network rep Glen (Andrew Friedman). But Sam doesn’t. He yells at his employees, who are all young women: “Who here is confused about who the director is? Really? No one is confused? Because I’m fucking confused.” When Ruth attempts to shield the others from responsibility, he directs his ire at her. “Are you making a move on my job, Ruth? . . . Honey, I don’t need your help. I need you to be a fucking actress . . . You’re not a director just 'cause you take a fucking camera to the mall."
When Reggie (Marianna Palka) interrupts to defend Ruth’s work—and points out that time in the Season 1 finale when Ruth covered for Sam—he immediately, inexplicably fires her. Ruth follows him to his office, and tries to talk him out of the decision. “I had ideas,” she says defensively. “O.K., well, put ’em in your diary,” he responds. “You’re all replaceable. Even you, Ruth.”
Throughout all of this, Maron is fantastic in the role of Sam. His character is a frustrating and frustrated creative leader, well-intentioned but constantly angry, obsessed with his own narrative of failure. Maron’s performance is magnetic; it’s as if every scene bends toward his all-too-period-appropriate aviators and his Burt Reynolds mustache.
In fact, he’s so good as the show-within-a-show’s demanding, exploitative creative lead that he might just be GLOW’s stealth protagonist—which is a problem, because GLOW, created by showrunners Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch and executive produced by Jenji Kohan, is supposed to be an ensemble comedy about a diverse group of women. Brie frequently uses the word “empowering” to describe the show and its ethos; recently, she called GLOW a “feminist oasis”. In Season 1, it was: Ruth, a protagonist who became a heel (wrestling jargon for “villain”), was an unexpected kind of female character—an unlikeable heroine discovering her talents and herself through an athletic, muscle-bound medium. The show’s premise offered its characters some combination of grit and glitter as a means to liberate themselves from the prison of oppressive history—a cathartic, rare feat, still, for women on television.
In its second season, though, the show never quite seems to know who it’s about. There is hardly a plot to be found; wrestling is no longer in the foreground, and what wrestling we do see lacks the convincing stunts or arresting ugliness of the genre. That cadre of diverse women is mostly shunted to the background as well—Ellen Wong and Britney Young get little screen time; Sunita Mani and Sydelle Noel have more material, but their stories still feel marginal. And they rarely, if ever, interact with the lead performers. (That these actresses all play characters whose wrestling personas are racist stereotypes does not help the overall effect.) Instead, the show ends up focusing on easier stories: material about the white male billionaire Bash Howard (Chris Lowell), for example, and Sam’s evolving relationship with his daughter Justine (Britt Baron). The family plot is an opportunity for Maron to play Sam as an abrasive, gruff, good-hearted dad with an unconventional but perceptive parenting style. Both Bash’s and Sam’s story lines are fine, but they take up precious space—and have nothing to do with wrestling or women.
Perhaps this shift wouldn’t rankle quite so much if Sam weren’t such an unrepentant asshole, specifically toward women. After dressing down Ruth in the premiere, Sam spends the next several episodes punishing her—alternating between refusing to give her airtime and giving her the worst spots in the show, and eventually doing what he can to sabotage her flirtation with the new cameraman, Russell (Victor Quinaz). Five episodes later, he apologizes, after Ruth attends a screening for one of his long-forgotten films—an action that essentially reinforces his superiority as a director.
She sits a few rows behind him, wreathed in apologetic smiles. He disdains her careful management of his feelings, calling it “creepy.” Eventually he apologizes—if one can call this an apology: “I’m not angry with you. I’m an insecure old man. I get defensive. Sue me.” Three episodes after that, Sam tries to kiss Ruth.
The show has no trouble casting Ruth as the creative punching bag for Sam’s on-set tantrums, the subject of endless put-downs about her looks and personality. Ruth and Sam appear to be engaged in an abusive dynamic, but GLOW doesn’t quite seem to know that, or care. Worst of all, in its second season, the show trades Ruth’s dignity for Sam’s interiority; by the end, our supposed lead has almost no substance to her character, aside from her constant, painful drive to matter. Brie throws her all into that aspect, but there’s no masking that Season 2 of GLOW has become a show where Ruth Wilder waits for Sam to do something mean to her, before quietly picking up the pieces.
In the show’s defense, there is a subtler story being told here. Ruth’s victim complex is activated by both Sam and Debbie (Betty Gilpin), her former best friend; she’s primed to fall into a relationship where she's taken advantage of. If the show is purposefully trying to explore how Ruth keeps falling into gendered traps, there’s value to that story—especially if its gentle rendering indicates how insidious these complexes can be.
GLOW nods toward this interpretation most obviously in the fifth episode, "Perverts Are People, Too," which we might as well call its #MeToo episode. In it, Ruth takes a business meeting, only to find herself targeted by a studio executive hoping for some flirty “fun” in his Jacuzzi bath. She flees, terrified, before realizing that this experience reflects the dynamics of her industry more broadly; the episode ends with a subtle, profound moment in which Ruth, surveying the male fans crowding around her co-workers, is forced to reckon with an existence built on female theatrics for male consumption.
But Ruth’s journey is separate from Sam’s, and what’s perplexing about the sexual harassment episode is how a plot point designed to critique the patriarchy ends up mainly serving to paint Sam as a good guy. Two episodes later—during the screening, right after Sam’s non-apology—Ruth tells her boss what happened to her. He emotes more than she does: “Fuck that guy! What a fucking sleazebag dickhead!” By the end of the season, Sam has been reborn as both a benign but curmudgeonly white knight whose fondness for strip clubs ends up delivering the team to a much-needed gig in Las Vegas, and a good dad who finds a new way to understand and communicate with his newfound daughter.
But while Sam’s being offered up as the moral guy, the I’d-never-harass-an-employee guy, he already has harassed his employees. He’s tried to kiss multiple women who work for him; he’s withheld advancement from Ruth out of petulance; he ignores Debbie as nothing more than a pretty face when she tries to assert her role as a producer. Maron himself has admitted Sam’s complicity to Deadline: “Can this guy be an asshole? Yes. Was he a guy that was possibly guilty of transgressing in the way of the casting couch, or showing favor to women professionally for sexual attention? Probably. I think that’s sort of established at the beginning. This guy’s no saint, but he also shows up for these women.”
In a way, the suggestion that Sam’s not that bad reveals something significant about the insidious reach of the patriarchy: you can be the guy who knows what bad behavior looks like, and still be complicit in it. It makes sense that Ruth is too naive to see this, and even that Sam’s too deluded to admit it. But it doesn’t make sense that in a season driven partially by a harassment story line—as part of a show ostensibly about women’s empowerment—GLOW would avoid acknowledging Sam’s previous behavior, to the point of failing to honestly reckon with his flaws. Hints of that reckoning are present: it’s significant, if opaque, that Ruth realizes falling for Sam is a bad idea, and instead throws herself into the arms of age-appropriate, respectful Russell. But diminishing her story to the status of background noise—while building up Sam’s backstory and screen time—is an astonishing disservice, both to GLOW’s characters and audience.
In the very first episode of GLOW, Ruth’s terrible, desperate audition for the titular wrestling show becomes sublime—and successful—when Debbie walks in, clutching her infant, screaming obscenities because she’s discovered that Ruth slept with Debbie’s husband. Debbie hands off her baby and steps into the ring; Ruth’s mimicry of aggression turns into a frantic, failed attempt at de-escalation. Debbie slaps her full in the face, and eventually pins Ruth to the ground; a smear of blood disfigures Ruth’s face. On the sidelines, the girl who will eventually become Fortune Cookie (Wong) asks, “Is this real?” The girl who will become Melrose (Jackie Tohn) shrugs: “Who the fuck cares?”
This might be a more prophetic line than GLOW intended. The show tends to skim the surface of its heavy subtext, and is quick to turn drama into a punch line, regardless of where the drama comes from or at whose expense the comedy hits. The show wants to nimbly engage with this stuff, and sometimes it’s able to. But either GLOW can’t see itself clearly, or it’s not communicating well what it’s trying to be about. Take that pilot scene: as Debbie and Ruth fight, GLOW superimposes what Sam wants to see, or what he thinks he can make happen, over their very real angst. In his vision, which is shot as a fantasy wrestling sequence, Debbie thrusts her crotch into Ruth’s face, and gyrates her spandex-covered behind in a slow circle for the audience’s benefit. By the time Sam snaps out of his reverie, the fight is over; he, and the viewer, have missed much of the real conflict in order to look at the manufactured version.
Similarly, in spending so much time inside Sam’s mind, GLOW is missing out on the stories right under Sam’s nose. They’re there—if he, and the show, would care to look.

If you have any time and want to do this, it’ll be fun to hear!
Hi Jen. Sorry it took so long to reply to this, I've been busy.
This looks like fun and also incredibly challenging, because there are many lines that renosate with me when it comes to both Kurt and Blaine (can't choose one, won't choose one, they're both my favorite). But I'll give it a shot.
KURT:
“When you’re different, when you’re special, sometimes you have to get used to being alone” I think it sort of explains some of the issues Kurt had later on, being a bit closed off and not being able to let his guard down, not even around Blaine, which probably resulted in the season 6 break up. He's so used to dealing with everything by himself, of being different, misunderstood, that he sometimes forgets he has someone to lean on, someone who understands.
“Hit me, because it’s not going to change who I am. You can’t punch the gay out of me anymore than I can punch the ignoramus out of you!” This line speaks of his bravery, and how proud he is of being who he is. That's one thing that never changed after he came out and finally was comfortable in his own skin.
“You know when you stop to think about it, Kurt Hummel’s had a pretty good year.” This is a guy who in the past year went through his father having a heart attack and almost dying, being hate-kissed by his biggest bully, threatened to be killed, made to leave his school and his friends, had to watch the guy he was in love with making out with one of his best friends and crush on someone who wasn't him, elected prom queen by a bunch of homophobic assholes and made fun out of in front of the entire school, and just lost a big competition. But he says that. And I think it makes him one of the most interesting and wonderful characters on television.
And I just realized I chose all season 2 lines, but the truth is it was a great season for Kurt. A few other lines that I think are amazing and inspiring when it comes to writing him are: "I realized that trust is a choice and I choose to trust and to love you through everything" "Why can't I walk hand in hand down the hall with a person that I like? Why can't I slow dance at my prom?" "If there's one thing I've learned from Finn dying it's that shame is a wasted emotion." "They can't touch me, they can't touch us, or what we have."
And like a million more, this got long, I'm sorry.
BLAINE:
My favorite thing about Blaine is how vulnerable he can be, and how Darren played that to perfection (probably why I love Blangst so much).
"I ran, Kurt. I didn't stand up. I let bullies chase me away, and it is something that I really, really regret." I think about this quote a lot when I write about Blaine, because it means he never learnt (or until that point, at least) to actually deal with his problems, to face them, because he found that running away was a better and easier choice for him, but you can see how much he hates that (when he says he's pissed off about what happened to him, you can truly see it and hear it in his voice, how he hates himself for it).
"Do you think my dad built a car with me because he loves cars? I think he did it because he thought getting my hands dirty might make me straight." This is one of my favorite scenes, not only because it gives us Burt/Blaine time, which is one of my favorite things in the show, but because it's one of the very few glimpses into Blaine's home life. I love me some daddy issues for Blaine. (Walter Anderson, anyone? God, that asshole. I still hate him and I created him).
"You did win. So did I. We got each other out of all this. That beats a lousy trophy, don't you think?" It's a perfect mirror to Kurt's "Kurt Hummel's had a pretty good year" line. They're both so brave and optimistic and wonderful. I love them.
And I once again chose all season 2 quotes (it was such a great season), but I also really love Blaine's proposal speech, which truly explains how important his relationship with Kurt is and yet it's too long to add here now, and when he told Finn about being bullied and starting to box (and later starting Dalton's brand of Fight Club). I also love the emotion in his voice when in 3x05 Kurt tells him he was proud to be with him and Blaine says (I hope so, I want you to be). I think these are all great lines to focus on while building Blaine's character in a fic. Or in general, really.
I'm probably forgetting a few, but there are just to many amazing Kurt/Blaine quotes.
Sigh. I love them.

(A/N: I couldn't help myself, I love his character already even though I've only seen seconds of him 😂 this is as accurate to what I've seen as I can make it, but I'll probably make a part 2 when the full movie's out and there's more to work with 🥰️)
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Burt Fabelman Relationship Hcs ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
❥• I am a firm believer that this man is unbelievably sweet and just the best partner ever, incredibly tender and doting and a great listener-
❥• Burt's great at giving advice; he's a bit of a worrier and wants the best for you, no matter what's happening. He's very honest and comforting with what he tells you and can talk for literal hours if you want. Long talks and cuddles with this man is heaven. Whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, he'll just rock and shush you soothingly, until you feel calmer. Then he'll ask you if you want to talk about it or want him to get you a drink, all the while making sure you know that "I'll always be here for you, darling," and "I'm so lucky to have someone so sweet in my life." He means what he says wholeheartedly.
❥• He's always there to support you through your work and hobbies, watching with awestruck and proud eyes, probably filming any event you're a part of. Even on family picnics or dinners, Burt admires you just being yourself, carefree and laughing and loved. He's a bit of a dad in the way that he prefers watching instead of being all active with you and your friends, but you best believe you can drag him up off his feet from reading a thick-paged novel to clumsily dance around with you.
❥• Loves seeing you being a bit of a housewife, cooking and looking after the house and kids, Burt loves being part of a family and is the best father and husband ever. He's pretty good around the house too, and will definitely help cook with you and praises your efforts.
❥• Very cuddly and affectionate, particularly in private, but always holds your hand when you're out and about, or is touching you in some way when you go somewhere with him. Behind closed doors, Burt is a complete softie, gives warm hugs and sweet, lingering kisses whenever you want them.
❥• He loves it when he can just exist with you, reading quietly together while drinking tea, taking a morning or evening walk around town. Burt always makes sure there's time for you two to be together after he's finished working for the day, and oftentimes brings flowers or little meaningful gifts back for you that he knows you'll like.
❥• He never snaps at you, even if he's having a rough day. Burt would feel awful and always wants to keep a smile on your face. To be honest, if he was having a bad day, you greeting him with a hug and those adoring, sparkling eyes would make him feel a lot better pretty quickly.
❥• Burt Fabelmen is 100% perfect husband material, he's so in love and reminds you every day, through gently whispered words before you sleep and actions throughout the day. Sometimes, just a simple forehead kiss and caring eyes from him can express more than words ever can, and it's enough to make you feel warm and giddy inside for hours. He feels the exact same way whenever you pay him attention, even in the slightest of ways. Proudly whipped 🥲

Haikyuu Boys and a Single Mom Pt. 3
Featuring: Suna, Bokuto, Kenma
Suna Rintaro
despite being a professional volleyball player, Suna was still a university student, he evenly splits up his days to go to volleyball practice and university
he was always dreading to go to university, but he knew he needed it, and you, being his seating beside you in three classes, made university bearable
you had this amazing aura, always so gentle, and kind, you had a soft smile plastered on your face almost like a motherly smile, your voice was always calm and soft, you were just so breath-taking to look at
although you two never talked that much, Suna already knew a lot of little details about you, he once drove pass you walking to the kindergarten just one street away from your university, he knew that you carry a container of fruits in your bag, you always left as soon as classes for the day was over, and that was only a few among a hundred of little things about you
Suna admired you from afar, as much as he likes you so much it physically hurts him, love just wasn't his priority, his priority was volleyball and his career
or at least he thought
life surely has a great sense of humor because somehow you guys ended up being partners for a thesis paper
"I look forward to working with you Suna" you smiled
"likewise" he says with his usual blank face
Suna didn't want to admit it, but he was excited
"so, where do we work on this?" he asks looking at the notes he took for that class
"well, we can work on it at my place" you say casually while also looking at your notes
"are you sure it's okay?" he asks again to make sure, this girl, the person he's been crushing on for his two years in university is now inviting him to her place
"yeah, i can't really spend a lot of time outside, my son hates it"
and just like that Suna was having a mini heart attack, you were married? you have a son? what-
“hey, you alright?” you asked worriedly
Suna quickly composed himself
“uhh y-yeah, won’t your husband get angry?” he asks
“oh don’t worry I raise Kiro by myself” you smiled
Suna looked at you strangely, unable to keep up
you chuckled at his dazed look “I’m a single mother”
Suna almost breathed out a sigh of relief, thankfully he was able to stop himself or else you would get the wrong idea
“yeah, yeah sure, let’s work on it at your place” he snapped out of it, did he sound too happy to hear that you were single? yes, but we ain’t gonna talk about that
what was your ex thinking? he was pretty sure your kid was cute and you were so breath-taking to look at, what a stupid guy
“what does your son likes?”
“hm?” you asked him to make sure you heard him right
“what does your son likes?”
later in the evening, Suna showed up at your place with chocolate chip ice cream and the most expensive sushi he could find
you worked on your project for a good two hours, finalizing the outline of the thesis, while Kiro sat on Suna’s lap, your son immediately liked him, maybe because of the ice cream and sushi , but Kiro was very fond of him
“Kiro, baby, get off of Suna’s lap please he might get tired” you said to your son while you were keeping the things you used
“I don’t mind, he’s surprisingly light” Suna says as he bounces Kiro on his lap
“alright, if you say so, I’m going to prepare snacks” you made your way to the kitchen and left the two in the living room
“mister rin-rin” Kiro whispers while tugging on Suna’s shirt
“hm?” he answers looking at the kid, he was right, Kiro was extraordinarily adorable, it felt like he was looking at a smaller boy version of you and it was making her heart go feral, making him break his rules and try his best to get the both of you
“i want you to be my daddy” he whispers while fiddling with his fingers shyly
please this man is about to combust
he pats the boy’s head “sure bud” he said with a smile
“then can I call you dad?” he asks , eyes sparkling
“well it’s better to start early right? sure you can bud” he says, a full-blown grin plastered on his usually stoic face
Bokuto Koutaro
the flashing and clicking of cameras occupied the whole room where the MSBY Jackals were holding their post-game press conference, they won the game by the way and Bokuto was in high spirits answering questions thrown at him by the reporters
it was your turn to ask a question to the players and you stood up “Bokuto-san, your fans are always wondering why you’re always in high spirits, what is your secret?”
Bokuto has never seen you before, were you a knew reporter? because damn he would’ve noticed you immediately if you were on their past press conferences, you looked like a celebrity to be quite honest
“I’m playing volleyball, there’s no room for me to be unhappy” he simply says
it was you first day at your new job, quite frankly, you’re glad you quitted your old one, they forced you to stay behind the camera and write scripts for anchors when you finished a bachelor degree on broadcasting
“Can’t blame him, I’m also happy when I do my job” you mumble to yourself as you remembered Bokuto’s answer to your question
“mama!” you looked at your son who was in the arms of your cousin Kuroo
“hey thanks for doing this for me couz” you say as they stopped right in front of you
“mama! have you seen the game?! they were so awesome! Uncle Tetsu promised me to go meet MSBY!” your son happily jolts in his Uncle’s arm
you looked at him with a motherly smile, happy that you’re son enjoyed the game
“you coming with us?” Kuroo asked
“you two go ahead I’ll just rest for a bit” you were tired with keeping up with the game and asking questions
the two nodded “alright, just show this to the guard and they’ll let you enter” Kuroo says, handing you a pass
you mutter a small thank you as you watch them walk away
let’s just say Gen, your son, was liked by every single member of the team, I mean, who could ever dislike such an adorable kid?
“MSBY cool! Shoyo pwaaa! Boto bam!” he says while jumping up and down, while Kuroo watched his nephew smiling
Bokuto was particularly very fond of him, was it because the kid was unbelievably adorable? or was it because the kid reminded him of a certain reporter? He’d like to think both
“Gen-kun who’s yer fav’rite player eh?” Atsumu asks the kid
the kid looked at eight full-grown man looking at him expectantly, his eyes stopped on the black-and-white haired spiker and made grabby hands towards him “BOUTO! BOUTO!”
the members were disappointed but not surprised at all, kids tend to go to Bokuto or Hinata since they have the friendliest faces
“HEY! HEY! HEEEY!” Bokuto did not hesitate and lifted the boy up in the air, as they both giggle
“Tetsu?” your voice interrupted the commotion inside the room
Kuroo went to the door and opened it for you and the first thing you saw was your son giggling with the person stuck in your head for about twenty minutes now
“Mama!” your son screamed as soon as he saw you and asked to be put down to run towards you giving you a hug on your leg you looked down at him and patted his head gently
Kuroo cleared his throat “this is Y/N L/N my cousin, the mother of adorable the adorable Gen, she is single and ready to mingle, 2 in 1 you get an adorable son and a lovely wife, contact me for more details, the price can be discussed”
you deadpanned at your cousin, why tf was he selling you like an auction, you shook your head
you were hyper aware of the intensity of the owl-eyed spiker, making you blush
while Bokuto was over here thinking, damn he hit the jackpot an adorable son and an absolutely gorgeous wife? you bet he’s in and he’s gonna do everything he can to win you and make you and your son happy
“I’m sorry about him, please excuse me, my son and I needs to leave” you said politely and bowed as you take your son away
unbeknownst to you, Bokuto was in the middle of business with your cousin
“hey, how much for the details?” Bokuto whispers to his bestfriend as if they were in the middle of an illegal transaction
Kuroo looked at his friend with eyebrows raised
“I’ll pay any amount” Bokuto was very serious, which made the former Nekoma captain burts out laughing
“well, since you’re my good friend, a few drinks will do” Kuroo after his hyena laugh session
“Hey! hey! hey! thanks Kubroo!” Bokuto says in his usual cheery voice
later that night, you wondered why you were having dinner with your son, your cousin, and the former captain of Fukurodani, how he managed to get you flowers in such a short amount of time and this late at night was beyond your knowledge. But you weren’t complaining though, how could you when he looked adorable with a flushed face asking for your number after driving you and your son home.
Kenma Kozume
Kenma wasn’t fond of kids, he didn’t disliked them, he just preferred hanging out with adults who were less hyper, proceeds to hangout with Bokuto, Hinata and Kuroo
but he was a gamer and it is inevitable that some of his fans were kids, he didn’t mind it though he is thankful to each and everyone of his fans
being the twenty-eight year old youtuber/CEO that he is, he barely have time to go out and it happened very rarely, and today happened to be one of those rare occasions as he got out to get some ice cream in a very hot summer day
but he was in a for surprise, at an empty alley, he heard a ruckus
“give it back! please give it back!”
it was never in Kenma’s personality to pry, but something was pushing him to go check out what was going on
he went inside to the dark alley and saw four boys, about eight years old, one was in the middle, his clothes all crumpled and dirty, his bag empty, his things sprawled out, scattered in front of him
“you want this thing? it’s not even the latest model, you think kodzu-”
Kenma cleared his throat, already able to register what was happening
“ken” the bully continued
“you know kids, I don’t really like bullies” Kenma starts as he walks towards the little boy, picking up his scattered things one by one and putting it in his bag
“leave, before I report you to your school” Kenma says stoically which made one of the boys drop the game console in his hand as the three of them scramble to get out of the dark alley
the little boy picked up the game console and tried to open it, but to no avail, it was broken
Kenma went closer as he handed him his bag
“are you okay?” he asked as he crouch down to the boy’s level, it was obvious that he was not okay, his face had little scratches and his clothes were all dirty and slightly damped
but the little boy meekly nodded and looked down on his game console, which Kenma noticed
“I can get you a new one” he says in attempt to cheer up the little boy, he didn’t know what was pushing him to do so, but his heart broke at the sight of him broke his heart
“mister Kodzuken, can you please get this fixed for me instead?” for the first time, the boy looked at him with sad eyes
how could he say no to that face? he took the game console and looked at the boy
“is there a reason why you want me to fix it?” he asks
“my mom worked hard to get me that on my birthday, she didn’t buy her favorite coffee, her favorite bread, she patched up her shoes instead of buying a new one, she even lied to me that she wasn’t hungry when we ate out, I don’t wanna make her sad” the boy sadly said and wore his bag
Kenma was in awe, no wonder this boy was so polite and respectful
“alright, how but I’ll call your mother now, she is needed in this situation” Kenma says as he takes out his phone
the boy slowly dictates his mom’s phone number, and when he was done, Kenma was speechless, the number was already registered as his secretary’s number
Kenma shakily presses the call button
“sir?” your voice from the other line, never seize to make his heart skip a beat
“Y/n do you happen to have a son?” his voice was still calm
“yes, how did you know sir? i have a son he’s name is Eiji, he’s eight” you happily told him
“well, I kinda caught some kids bullying him, I think that you’re needed here” he says calmly
“oh no, my baby, i’ll be there ASAP sir, please do send the location”
“I’ll send the location to my driver, he’ll pick you up” Kenma says and hangs up as he send a quick messege and the location to his driver
Kenma was supposed to ask you out tomorrow, that was the reason why he didn’t go to the office today, he was going to surprise you at his place because he didn’t want you, the girl he liked to the horrible people of the internet
you were too pure, too kind, you always made sure to get him something to eat despite his resistance, made sure that he doesn’t overwork himself and even going to the extent where you do some of his workloads, of course he trusted you enough to do so and you’ve been working with him for four years now
but you had a child? did you have a husband? but you’re resume said that you were single? is it a boyfriend?
“you know mister Kodzuken, mama always talks about you when I ask her about her day, I think she’s got a little crush on you” Eiji smiled softly at him
which almost made the former setter melt into a puddle, the boy was adorable, and even if his original plan was to just date you, he was more than happy to have Eiji, having a mini you around made it all even better, he wasn’t fond of kids but the little boy infront of him was an exception
“I think, I can make that happen” he smiles softly
the day after you appeared looking distressed, talked to your son’s bullies and their parents at the school’s principal office with Kenma and Eiji seating beside you, you were now inside your boss’ house, he was asking you to be his girlfriend, your son happily jumping up and down beside him
how could you say no, when four years ago, you were only dreaming of this moment?

99 Perspectives on a Single Love Story #55
A/N: The Story of Kurt and Blaine told through the eyes of everyone else but them. Each chapter is a different perspective in the ongoing tale of their love story.
I started something like this a while back - and now I’m taking the idea and really running with it. Each chapter is a ficlet of a different character at a different point in Kurt and Blaine’s life - documenting their love story. This starts in Audition, and each chapter will be paired with a different episode until reaching Dreams Come True.
[Ao3]
***
Tina Cohen-Chang (Sadie Hawkins Day)
“So, I was thinking of a navy blue dress, I saw one on sale at the mall that sparkles a bit. I think it’ll go really well with my skin tone, and if you get blue accents with your tux, it’ll really match. Blaine? Are you listening?”
Tina Cohen-Chang sits at Blaine's desk, attempting to have a conversation with him. Blaine’s on his stomach, his text book and papers spread out in front of him, but like Tina, he’s ignoring his homework, too as he texts on his phone. Tina gives him an indignant look that he doesn’t see.
“What, yeah, you’ll look great,” Blaine mumbles.
“I don’t want to just look great - I want to be gorgeous.”
“Well, I think you’re always gorgeous.”
“Thank you.” Well, at least she got a compliment out of it. Still, it’s frustrating that he’s so distracted. She’s made it a point, since they’ve been back since break, to hang out with Blaine at least once a week. He could definitely use a friend and she, well… it doesn’t take much for him to look gorgeous. There he is, just laying on the bed, not really doing anything. He’s even wearing some bold fashion choices with the brightly colored jacket with mustard pants. But god does his ass look good in them.
Get it together, Tina!
“Who are you texting, Sam?” She slides from the chair to the edge of the bed, attempting to get a glance at his phone. “I get why you are into him, and I think your little quest to bring back the glee club is noble, but you’ve been, like, non-stop texting. Neither of us have even started on our essays.”
“It’s not Sam.” Blaine sits up, shielding his phone from her.
“Well, then, who is it?”
“You’re just going to give me a hard time.”
“Oh, god, is it Kurt?” She tilts her head disparagingly at him.
He looks up at her, almost shamefully. “This is why I didn’t bring it up.”
“I mean it’s fine,” Tina says, though probably not convincingly enough. “What are you guys even talking about?”
“Well…” Blaine’s hesitant, but can’t help the gleam in his eyes that he gets when he talks about Kurt. She really wishes he’d light up about her that way… “Okay, he’s been wanting to get more involved in NYADA activities, especially since Rachel, I guess has this new boyfriend who is apparently sucking up all her time. And so he tried out for the show choir.”
“Really?” She tries hard not to laugh, but oh, Kurt... “That sounds kinda lame.”
“Apparently, they do covers of Baby Got Back.”
“Super lame.” She scooches a little closer on the bed, closing the textbook and moving it and the papers out of the way. She gives Blaine a more serious look. “But, maybe it’s good that Kurt is meeting new people. Look, I know you don’t want to hear this but maybe it’s a sign he’s moving on.”
“Maybe.” He looks down at his phone, crestfallen. Way to kill his spirit, Tina. “Maybe not.” Something on that phone makes him grin. However, he bites his lip and looks away.
Her curiosity is at least piqued, even if she probably doesn’t really want to know. “What?”
He holds back. “No, you’ll get judgy.”
“I promise I won’t be. What?”
“Okay…” He takes a deep breath and slides all his words together excitedly. “Kurt and I slept together over Christmas.”
“What?” She says sharply, unable to hide the shock in her voice.
He starts rattling off the details, a satisfied grin on his face. “His dad is going through some stuff, and I was there to help be a friend I guess. And one thing led to another and…”
“Ew…” Tina holds her hands up, not wanting to know more. “Was Burt there when you did it?”
“We made sure he couldn’t hear anything.”
“Blaine!”
“You’re being judgy.”
“Look, I get it,” She says, in her best sympathetic voice. She scooches another inch forward so as to put her hand on his arm. “Break ups are traumatic. I mean, I did sleep with Mike a few times after we broke up but before he moved to Chicago. Sometimes it’s easy to fall into old patterns. But I just think there are better fish in the sea for you.”
“Maybe…”
“I’m sure someday you’ll meet the person of your dreams.” She leans in to look deeply into his eyes. Maybe he’ll see her -- really see her this time. “And maybe it’ll be a total surprise as to who that really is.”
“Yeah, I guess.” There’s a ding on Blaine’s phone, completely ruining the moment. “Oh - hey, it’s Sam, he’s got an update on the Warblers…”
An internal scream goes off in Tina’s head; fuckin’ Sam…

Concepts in Action (Glee)
Follow-up to Concepts of Insanity, spawned by a talk with @jwmelmoth
Slighty different mood than that one, but same base principle.
Returning to the loft after skating should be a relief after the awkwardness of doing such a loaded activity with his ex. Except it doesn't feel that good, and he's got some uncomfortable suspicions regarding Blaine's backpack.
“So, dad. You brought Blaine. Exactly when's his ticket back?”
“Day after tomorrow, same as mine.”
“Right. And where is he staying?”
“Well...” His dad's facial expression answers that question in a way that makes Kurt's heart sink.
Fan.Tast.Ic.
“So when you said I could return my present if I wanted to, exactly how was that supposed to work? It isn't, is it? I'm stuck with him whether I want to or not.”
“Kurt!”
His dad's voice is full of surprise and a bit of censor, but Kurt isn't going to let that influence him. His dad's crossed a line, and Kurt's not going to pretend otherwise.
“Remember the first Christmas after mom passed away? How you sat me down and apologized for my presents, before I'd even opened them, because you just weren't good at buying gifts? And remember how I told you that anything you'd gotten me would be perfect, because it was from you and I loved you? Yes?
“Okay. I still love you, but I'm taking the rest of that back. You coming here to tell me you have cancer was bad enough. Finding out you consider my ex an acceptable 'gift' for Christmas goes from bad to really shitty, and I don't know what you were thinking. Especially seeing as apparently you felt it was okay to tell him about your cancer before telling me.”
“I didn't want you to be alone.”
Kurt just stares, unable to process.
“I have cancer, and I knew you'd have a hard time to deal. I brought Blaine because I figured you'd need the support, the comfort.”
“And you brought my ex for that?”
Then again, support wasn't Blaine's strongest suit even when we were together, was it?
“Hey, you're the one who told me he wasn't just your boyfriend, he was your best friend too.”
“Yes, but that was before” he cheated on me “we broke up.”
His dad still doesn't seem to get it and Kurt can't take it.
“You know what, I need some air. I'm going to take a walk. You stay here, make sure Blaine stays out of my bedroom.”
Kurt starts out with going around the block, but he's still upset after and takes another loop, this time longer. It takes half an hour for him to feel ready to go back inside and deal.
Sitting on the couch with his dad and Blaine as they watch baseball is annoying as hell. Any other time, he'd take the closeness and read Vogue, especially now that his dad has admitted to knowing about it. But with Blaine actually watching and interacting with his dad about the game Kurt feels uncomfortable not doing the same. So he tries. Once he gives up and reaches for his magazine he heard his dad and Blaine joke about having bet about how long he'd hold out.
And then the next hit comes.
“So, Kurt, I know that this might be a bit weird for you, and you can totally say no if you want to,” sure, just like I could return the 'gift' of your presence, “ but I'm applying to NYADA for next year.”
Kurt sighs silently. Of course he is. The thing is, he can see it, the way Blaine probably assumes it'll play out. Blaine moving to New York, going to NYADA, buddying up to Rachel just like in high school... Kurt being expected to just take it, regardless of if he had been accepted or not. Any contacts Kurt might have gotten supposed to be at Blaine's beck and call, Blaine talking his way into Kurt's classes trying to replace him, like he had in Glee and with Cheerios... Kurt bending over backwards to make Blaine happy, just like in high school.
Because there would never be a chance of him being allowed to continue to say no to Blaine with them at the same school.
Thank god that's not going to happen.
And really, what was Blaine trying to do here? Pretending that Kurt's opinion mattered? The time for that would have been months ago, before applying.
“Oh really? You know what, I think NYADA might be perfect for you.” Not in terms of actual schooling, maybe, as Kurt's had the blinds torn off regarding Blaine's talent, but for the rest... He imagines Carmen Tibideaux subjecting Blaine to some of her special treatment. The definition of Karma, surely.
“Really?”
“Oh yeah. From everything I've heard you'd get along really well with the dean, and well, Rachel seems to thrive. Good luck.”
With no encouragement to keep talking about NYADA Blaine wanders off to grab something to drink and Kurt refocuses on his dad, trying to squeeze out as much of this visit as possible.
“Hey Kurt? What does NUY want with you?”
Kurt turns his head so fast it feels like he's in danger of whiplash.
“Are you going through my mail? Stop it!”
The words come out hard and he can see both his dad and Blaine react. He doesn't care though.
“You know, you going through my personal things wasn't cute when we dated either. Back then I just cared more about keeping the peace than about keeping my privacy. Since that's not a problem anymore, let me just be clear. I might be allowing you to stay here, but that's not an invitation in any way. Not to snooping, not to feeling at home, and not to getting back together.
“This is my home, and you are – putting it kindly – a guest. Behave with the decency I know your mom expects of you. If you can't do that then leave.”
He wishes Blaine would, but knows it's not likely.
“Buddy...”
“Kurt! You can't mean that you'd throw me out. Where would I go?”
Blaine looks like Kurt has done the verbal equivalent of throwing a bucket of ice water in his face. It has no effect on Kurt's resolve though.
“I neither know nor care. You either respect my home or you don't stay in it. This is New York. There are thousands of hotels and hostels.”
His dad just stares at him, as if he doesn't know who Kurt is anymore, and it hurts. Out of all the people liking Blaine better than him Kurt had never figured his dad would be one. And yet here he was, feeling the same way as he'd once felt with Finn.
“Buddy, you're being a bit harsh here, don't you think? Yes, I'll admit that maybe bringing Blaine without warning you was a little...impulsive, but why are you so angry? And don't be so hardnosed about getting back together, for your own sake.
“Like I said earlier, love's important. Holding on to love is important. I don't want you to throw away what you and Blaine have, not when you never know what will happen, or how long you'll have that opportunity. It's a cruel world, Kurt, but having someone to share with makes it better.”
Kurt takes a deep breath and tries, really really tries to keep his bitterness in. He's not doing that great a job.
“Holding on to love is important, sure. But there's such a thing as holding on too long and too hard. Blaine and I broke up for good reasons, and I wish you'd respect that.”
It's like his dad isn't even hearing him though.
“You know, your mom and I found it hard being apart too.”
Kurt did know. As a kid he'd loved hearing about his mom's semester in France, and he'd been told enough to know that it'd been tough. He'd read some of their letters to each other though, and he doubts either of them dealt the way Blaine did.
“So? Yes, being apart is hard. But that isn't an excuse for everything. I didn't want to get you involved in all of this, but since that's obviously not going to be an option anymore, fine. Blaine cheated. He felt I didn't pay enough attention to him, you know, between finding a job and a place to stay, and making enough money to pay the bills, and generally trying to make myself a life here after he practically pushed me to go here.
“And so he went and found someone else to give him that attention.”
He practically spits out the last sentence. It feels good to finally allow himself to say it, but the look on his dad's face doesn't feel as good.
If he was less angry maybe he'd be able to stop himself, worry about his dad's heart. But the anger's been simmering too long for that.
“That's why we broke up, and that's why I find the idea of getting back together objectionable. And you can talk about holding on to love until you're blue in the face, but I'm not the one who needs that lecture.”
He swallows down the lump in his throat, but goes on.
“As for the rest of it, are you seriously suggesting I take back my cheating boyfriend because that's better than being alone? Or because I don't know how long I'll live? Because if you are... What's next, dad? Telling me I should marry him because you and mom didn't get enough time together?
“If any of those things are going through your head you are also welcome to leave. I'll never not welcome you in my home, dad, but I need you to respect me. I need you to not act like you're putting someone else's son above yours.”
That's a warning that hits the target, and it's obvious that Burt Hummel remembers a row of uncomfortable talks about Finn. He deflects by turning on Blaine though.
“You...”
“No, dad. It is over and done with. Leave him be. Just... Just leave it alone. I don't want to take anymore fighting. Please?”
They stare at each other and for a while Kurt wonders if he should have done as he normally does and just backed down. Swallowed down his hurt and anger and frustration, kept quiet about the injustices done to him, and just pretended to be okay. Tried to not upset his dad, and risk his health.
Except he's done that for years, and it's clearly not working. His dad's health has failed again, with the cancer – and no matter how good the prognosis, or the treatments available, a cancer diagnosis is a health failure. Plus his dad is trying to fix him and Blaine, out of some misguided idea that they're going to be the next Burt-and-Lizzie, and he never would have done that if Kurt'd been honest about the cheating instead of blaming distance.
At least Kurt hopes he wouldn't.
“Sometimes, dad, first loves end. They end because of death, or because they're not meant to last, or because of something else. And then you meet someone else, and they make your life amazing. I'm not going to deprive myself of that by holding on to something that's ended. Just like you didn't. You found love again. I will too.
“I just need to be allowed to do so.”
They keep staring at each other, and then his dad nods. Kurt can't help it, he throws himself in his dad's arms, with tears already beginning to fall.
As they hug Kurt hear Blaine muttering in the background about finding a hotel, but he doesn't care. The door to the loft closing feels like it's closing on him and Blaine too, and it's such a relief.
After several minutes they let go. Both need to remove traces of crying, but that's good.
Once they're seated again Kurt searches for something to talk about, but his dad beats him to it.
“So, NYU? Or should I pretend I didn't hear that?”
“No! I have been thinking about things, about school, and I was an idiot for not applying to more schools last year. So, I did some research and then I did something about it. I've applied to half a dozen schools, and I've already been accepted to one for the fall semester. I don't know if there's any school willing to take me for the spring, but if there's not I'll just keep working and try to save up money.”
“And what about NYADA?”
There's no judgment in his dad's voice, and Kurt smiles as he tries to describe the situation diplomatically.
“It's...not looking as good in my research as I thought, so while I did reapply there I'm not sure I want to go there. I really shouldn't have listened to Rachel last year, because as it turns out? NYADA actually isn't the most prestigious school for performing arts, and it's probably not even the best for me. I guess we were both a little starstruck, you know?”
The game is back on, but they ignore it and talk, and it's everything Kurt would have wanted.
O--o---o--O
Months later as classes start up Kurt receives voicemail after voicemail about Blaine starting at NYADA, about how bad it is that Kurt's not been accepted, about them meeting up. Kurt ignores them as he did the calls and walks into vogue.com with a smile.
He doesn't feel the least bad about not getting in. Hell, he didn't even apply for the fall semester.
No, Kurt's happy where he is, with his job at vogue.com, a spot at the New School and a couple of scholarships helping pay the way. Oh, and a new boyfriend, which also contributes to his happiness.
Turns out? Acting in new ways can get you new and rewarding results. All you got to do is try.

@youandthemountains @macchiatosdumptruck
hehe oops
So first off, as synopses go, the blurb on the back is pretty sparse:
“Robert De Niro, Ralph Macchio and Burt Young starred in this harrowing yet often hilarious first play by a young Hispanic playwright in a sold out, limited engagement on Broadway. Cuba is a small time cocaine and marijuana dealer whose pride and joy is his 16 year old son Teddy. Cuba has great hopes for his son; what he doesn’t know is that the boy has already succumbed to the lure of the streets and is fast becoming a heroin junkie.”
Not inaccurate, but...misses the heart, I guess?
Cuba does this so his son doesn’t have to, so Teddy can have better. And he does it all in the open, no secrets, without hiding it from Teddy - so Teddy knows what not to do in order to do better. Cuba, a single father, also made a point of raising Teddy as a “gringo” (his words) so he’d have an easier time of it. Obviously there are, uh, downsides to going about things this way, but his heart’s in the right place. And Cuba explains all this, eventually. The summary is, however, bang on about the coke and the weed.
Teddy’s a quiet kid who spends a lot of time writing in his notebook. A few weeks shy of 17, he has that awful, strange, sad, fucked-up teenage view of his pop - he loves him, he’s scared (of him? of what he does? of what he might think of Teddy?), he doesn’t understand him, he doesn’t like him. But he finds companionship and seeks mentorship in Che, a Tony-winning Latino playwright from the Lower East Side (who’s also homeless and, at the very least, into heroin). Che’s hugely important to Teddy, as a writer, as an “accomplished individual” (Teddy’s words), and as a source of a drug he can’t get from his dad (who insists, like cool moms in 00s movies, that Teddy come to him if he wants to try anything). Teddy was raised by his father and his abuelita, but at Cuba’s insistence, only understands some Spanish and speaks none. He knows some of the santeria - Cuba maintains an altar in their apartment - but blocks his ears and stalks out of the apartment when salsa is played. As far as the back-of-the-book blurb goes, ‘succumb’ and ‘junkie’ are a little strong, but I guess I can see why the publisher would go for that language. compels_me_though.gif
So there’s...some context? I guess? Without necessarily spoiling too much of the actual plot.
Here’s some of my rando thoughts, which are a bit less organized.
There is just a lot of meat to Cuba - there’s a lot to him. I wish I could explain more about why de Niro just seems like such a great fit for this, but he does. I mean would it be nice to have a Latino powerhouse play a Latino powerhouse? Absolutely. But I can see why this decision was made.
So that review, with the “An eerie, subliminally sexual bond of dominance pervades this womanless household, with the boy serving as a submissive valet, an Edith Bunkerish wife”?
HA yeah.
The second half is 1000% supported by the text. Teddy iron’s Cuba’s shirt, brings him his clothes, helps him do his hair before he goes out. That’s indisputable.
The first half is just your bog-standard straight* man’s response to Ralph Macchio, but instead of being sports (macho) violent, it’s theater (not macho) sexy.
Running out of steam and used up all my braincells on the character shite, so parting thought - there’s no way Teddy is straight. There’s only one moment in the text that gives any sort of indication one way or the other, and to say that it’s ambiguous is an understatement. This is just kinda the vibe I get, from the way they made up Macchio and the way his manner of speech is very different from everyone else in the play.
*presumably; the reviewer died in ‘94 and was survived by his wife
#y'all i opened my laptop for this#anyway i wanna scoop teddy up and take him home and like. protect him and shit

Fic: Grease Monkey
Summary: Blaine goes to visit Kurt at 'Hummel Tires And Lube' but he is not prepared for the sight that awaits him.
Rating: T
Words: 1796
Read on: Ao3 and FF.net
Notes: I had this idea in my head for YEARS. Then I saw a post about this premise on tumblr and I thought “fuck it! This is my moment!” So I wrote it down. Please enjoy some thirsty Blaine ;)
I wanna thank my dearest beta @esperantoauthor (Esperanto on Ao3) for not only correcting my mistakes but also being super supportive and kind and actually teaching me shit! <333
I also kinda made art for this fic so y'all understand my vision. I hope you enjoy it!
The doorbell rang at the Hudson-Hummel household. Blaine was standing at the front door smiling in anticipation, bowtie in place and curls neatly trapped in gel. He and Kurt were going to breadsticks tonight to celebrate their one month anniversary. All right, not the fanciest place for a date, Blaine would admit, but they wouldn’t be able to afford much better anyways. And besides, Lima didn’t really have much more to offer.
Blaine was a bit early, so when Carole opened the door instead of his boyfriend, he wasn’t too surprised.
“Hi Carole. Is Kurt ready yet? We, eh, have a date. I’m a little early, but I thought-“ he looked inside past Carole’s shoulder to see if Kurt might be coming down the stairs already.
“Oh, I’m sorry honey, Kurt’s still at the garage. He promised Burt to help out for a bit. I guess they’re running a little late. Why don’t you meet him there? I’m sure he’d be happy to see you,” Carole offered with a smile.
“Oh, eh, sure. I suppose I could do that,” Blaine said, with somewhat forced optimism. The idea didn’t sound as good to him as it seemed to sound to Carole. The last time Blaine had gone over to ‘Hummel Tires and Lube’ he had convinced Burt to give his son “the sex talk,” merely a week before becoming said son’s boyfriend. He and Burt were on good terms and Blaine always felt welcome in his house, but he would rather not relive the awkwardness of that moment, especially now that he had so much to lose. “Thank you Carole, have a nice evening,” he said with a small smile.
—
“Kurt?” Blaine called out when he walked through the open garage door into the workshop. He felt awkward and out of place in the big space filled with cars, machines, and tools. He had dressed up nicely for his and Kurt’s date so he didn’t dare to touch anything in fear of getting dirty. He just stood there awkwardly shuffling from side to side, trying to catch a glimpse of Kurt. A moment had passed but there was no sign of Kurt or his father. I shouldn’t have come, Blaine thought. Kurt would want to go home to change first, before going on their date, surely. So Blaine was mostly there just to say an awkward hello and meet Kurt again a little later at his house, where they were supposed to meet up in the first place. He even felt a little relieved when no one answered. He started to walk away towards the exit to just wait in his car for Kurt to come home, but right when he reached the garage door he heard his name.
“Blaine?” Kurt appeared from behind a car. “I thought we were supposed to meet at 6? Did I get the time wrong?” He looked over his shoulder at a clock hanging on the wall behind him. “I’m sorry if I kept you waiting.” His voice was soft and sincere.
“Oh no don’t worry about it, I was a little early so I-“ Blaine turned around to face his boyfriend and his eyes grew big when he saw Kurt. He didn’t know what he expected, but he certainly wasn’t prepared for this.
Kurt was standing next to a shelving unit, leaning against it. He was wearing stained blue coveralls only halfway up with the sleeves tied around his waist to keep them from sagging down. He wore a tight fitting white t-shirt with the short sleeves rolled up to his shoulders. The muscles in his arms flexed as he cleaned his hands and forearms with a small towel. His hair was messy and coming out of its usual hold of hairspray. And to top it off Blaine noticed a few smudges of dark grease on Kurt’s usually porcelain smooth face.
Blaine’s jaw dropped at the sight of him. He had never seen Kurt in any other state than perfectly put together. Not a hair out of place. Bowties, button-ups, skinny jeans, the works. He loved Kurt’s fashion sense. Of course he did. Kurt expressed himself through his clothes, so saying he did not like the way he dressed would just be another way of saying he didn’t like Kurt and that was too insane to even think about. Because boy did he like Kurt.
But there was something about this look, Kurt’s soft voice, his smooth skin and the elegant way he moved in contrast with the harsh environment of the shop, the dirt, and smell of motor oil, that made Blaine feel funny in his chest (and maybe in some other places too but he tried not to think about that right now!). Blaine felt like Kurt should look out of place here. But the opposite was true. Kurt looked downright at home in the shop and also like something straight out of Blaine’s fantasies. Kurt looked so.. traditionally masculine? Hot. He looked hot.
“Blaine?” Kurt asked, raising an eyebrow when Blaine didn’t finish his sentence and just stared at him. “Are you alright?”
“I- Yeah I eh... I’m- I...” Blaine stammered. “Hi,” he finally managed to get out.
Kurt chuckled a bit, put the towel down on a shelf and walked towards Blaine. “What is it?”
“I- It’s just.. you look-“
“Ugh, I know. I look gross. I promise I’ll change before our date. I didn’t mean for you to see me like this.” He gestured at his appearance.
“No!” Blaine practically yelled.
Kurt looked very confused. “No?”
“I mean, no, you look good! You look great actually,” Blaine said and could feel heat rising in his cheeks.
“Really..?” Kurt said in a judging tone. “Blaine. I am a mess...”
“A fucking hot mess if you ask me” Blaine muttered with a seductive grin.
Kurt snorted but his cheeks turned slightly pink at the flirty compliment “You like this?” He asked.
“Eh, YES! God, look at you! You look like you’ve just come from a photoshoot for a car commercial.”
“You are unbelievable,” Kurt said, rolling his eyes fondly. “Everyday I try to put the most amazing outfits together and the one time you see me when I look positively disgusting, you can’t take your eyes off me.”
“Kurt, you know I love the way you dress. But this? Now? God you look hot. You look so strong and rugged and sexy and...” Blaine was eying Kurt up and down while tracing his hands over Kurt’s arms. “Please, kiss me.”
“But you will get all greasy if I kiss you now,” Kurt quipped, but he put his arms loosely on Blaine’s shoulders anyways. Blaine noticed they weren’t completely grease free yet but he found he didn’t actually care about getting dirty anymore.
“Grease me up baby,” Blaine said with a big smile on his face, putting his hands on Kurt’s waist. Through the thin fabric of his shirt, Blaine could feel the warmth of Kurt’s skin.
Kurt chuckled a little in disbelief before leaning in, kissing Blaine softly. But, the second their lips touched a low moan emerged from Blaine’s throat. Blaine’s grip tightened on Kurt’s shirt pulling him closer.
“Oh wow, you really do like this, huh?” Kurt said breaking them apart.
Blaine hummed appreciatively, chasing Kurt’s lips “Wasn’t that obvious?” he breathed, clutching Kurt’s shirt. “So sexy.”
Kurt looked at him questioningly at first, but when he looked into Blaine’s eyes he saw nothing but want. A dark twinkle appeared in Kurt’s eyes and he grabbed Blaine, pulling him towards a nearby car. Blaine was more than happy to be led and followed Kurt eagerly. Kurt pressed Blaine against the car. Once trapped between the car and Kurt, Blaine pressed his mouth back on Kurt’s. Pulling him as close as he could. Kurt’s weight was pressing down on him from head to toe. And Blaine couldn’t help noticing that their hips were pressed together as well.
Kurt put his hand against Blaine’s cheek and had the other pressed against his chest. He started to move against Blaine just a little. But it was enough to shoot fire through Blaine’s entire body. His hands moved over Kurt’s sides and back pulling on his shirt. God this feels good!
“No making out in the shop!” A loud voice pierced the silence in the garage.
Kurt quickly pushed himself away from Blaine. Frantically trying to straighten his t-shirt. “Dad!” He shouted indignantly.
“Rules are rules, kiddo. If Finn’s not allowed to make out here, neither are you.” Burt said before turning to a very disheveled looking Blaine “Evening, Blaine,” he said with a smirk.
“Mr Hummel- Burt! Hello! I am so sorry, sir! I- we didn’t-“
Burt started laughing heartily. “Don’t worry about it kid.”
Blaine turned scarlet and gave Burt a small, but grateful smile.
“I came to tell you, you were free to go, Kurt. But it looks like you took that liberty yourself,” Burt teased.
“Right.. thanks dad. I think Blaine and I are gonna go then.”
“Thanks for the help today, Kurt. You’re very valuable to have around at the shop.”
The smile on Kurt’s face grew. “You’re welcome. Happy to help,” he said to his dad before he turned back to Blaine. “Come on, let's go to my place; I need to change. As much as you might like this look, I am NOT going out to dinner in coveralls, covered in grease!” He winked at Blaine, took his hand, and pulled him to Blaine’s car.
Blaine ducked his head laughing to himself a little. “Of course.”
Once inside Blaine’s car, Blaine felt Kurt looking at him.
“What?”
“Should we talk about what happened in there?”
“I don’t know? What would you wanna talk about?”
“You having a grease monkey fetish and me grinding up on you in my dad’s shop, maybe?”
Laughing out loud for a second Blaine cleared his throat and responded, “Ehm, I guess I just like it when you take control like that. Especially when you look like,” he gestured at Kurt’s outfit, “that. Honestly, Kurt, you look like you came from a fucking porno magazine.”
Kurt lifted his chin up a little, his cheeks turning pink again. “Hmm, good to know. I suppose I liked it too. Feels nice to be wanted like that. I guess I never really had that before. Nor did I expect anyone to ever feel like that about me.” He smiled softly at Blaine. “You don’t look half bad yourself by the way. I didn’t really have a chance to tell you yet.”
“Thank you,” Blaine answered with a returned smile. “Let's go then, shall we?”
“Please. I wanna get out of these clothes!”
They looked at each other and burst out laughing.

been kinda sick the last couple of days so i spent most of my time sleeping and watching glee lol season 4 is sooooo weird btw i just feel like something shifted (and not necessarily for the better) i mean i appreciate the amount of trash they've been filling the episodes with (it's a huge throwback to s1 imho) but SO MANY THINGS DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL
let me briefly show you what i mean:
let's start with a couple i couldn't care any less about but is sadly the main focus of the show - finchel. rachel and finn were about to get married at the end of s3 and now, less then 10 episodes in s4, rachel already replaced him with that brody guy and ASKED HIM TO MOVE IN WITH HER ???????? (without even consulting kurt btw if i were him i would be so angry and upset)
i love the lack of will schuester this season as i rarely can put up with him but they seriously had no reason and no business at all changing finn's whole character to "fill the void" mr schue left behind - i guess we can all agree in saying that finn was already a very interesting character even without stealing mr scue's entire wardrobe, his way of teaching and his random beef with one amazing sue sylvester (personally, i loved that the writers gave finn the "lost and confused about his future" trope as it is really relatable. i was expecting some big great arc for him but there was just no way in hell i could have imagined he would just become a spitting image of will schuester - i believe it would have been amazing to explore his own core and teaching style as glee club supervisor without implementing every detail that makes will will and losing finn's distinctive traits)
sam is back !!!! awesome !!!! then why the hell is he randomly 10x dumber than the previous seasons ??? i have a feeling they've made him an idiot so that he could create a fun and interesting relationship with brittany (dumb and dumber type) (i love the fact they're reminding us brit is bi but they seriously didn't have to lower sam's IQ so evidently to make him "more fun" ... the pairing with brittany wouldn't have worked anyway imo)
SANTANA IS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN ??? HELLO ???? WHY LOSING ONE OF YOUR MOST CHARACTERISTIC AND APPRECIATED CHARACTER ????? SHE DESERVES BETTER !!!! i'm sick of the crumbs ... i love her to death and i appreciate the random sequences in random episodes she makes an appearance in, but her character's journey at the end of s3 was NOT reaching an end ... she's absolutely incredible and deserves a decent plotline !!
k you know what? i'm just gonna come out and say it. what's making me FUMING the most so far is the "evolution" of kurt and blaine's relationship ... i am SO disappointed and mad by this awful writing. the s4 ep4 break-up was the most heart-wrenching scene EVER (and i loved it though it hurt like hell and was not expected). i really hoped the writers would have taken it as a chance to explore their personalities and individual journeys more, from a closer pov, while bringing them slowly back together (i still have hope btw i'm just halfway through s4) SO WHY THE HELL DID THEY TALK AND CLARIFY THEIR STANCES WHILE SPENDING XMAS TOGETHER IN NY (shoutout to burt for being the. best. dad. ever.) AND SAYING THE THREE MAGICAL WORDS BACK TO EACH OTHER JUST FOR THEM GETTING FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER IN THE NEXT EPISODE ??? WHYE DOES BLAINE HAVE A RANDOM AND NON-SENSE CRUSH ON SAM ALL OF A SUDDEN ????? (don't get me wrong i think their friendship is stellar and a lot of fun, this whole blam thing could definitely get me hooked for the next episodes but it makes no sense that blaine gets a random crush on sam just because he's gay and sam's got huge pink lips) ALSO WHY DOES KURT TRY TO GET WITH A RANDOM NYADA GUY ????? THAT'S SO OUT OF CHARACTER !!!!! (you can't see me but i'm basically tearing my hair out while typing this) WHAT WERE THE WRITERS ON WHEN THEY WROTE THESE EPISODES ????? OHHHH I AM SO. MAD.
i'm ending this post here otherwise i'll just explode.
hopefully the second half of s4 will make more sense (and you can rest assured i'll scream about it very loudly on my account very soon).
#4771#glee#glee tv show#glee season 4#spoiler alert#give me back my wholesome cute honest klaine#also i need more lesbian representation#ALSO i need more scenes with ms pillsbury ???? why did she suddenly disappear after stating she didn't want to go away with mr schue ????#crying screaming throwing up

Footnotes in the Story of Your Life
Nancy Drew never wanted to move from everything she knew in New York to an unwelcoming town in Maine, and she secretly refuses to enjoy her upcoming final year of high school, but that might not even happen when she and four Horseshoe Bay natives - Bess Marvin the socialite, Ace the stoic son of a single mother, George Fan the town foster child/screw up, and Ned Nickerson HBPD’s favorite ex-con - are accused of attempted murder. Nancy’s startled - when she said she wanted something interesting to happen she didn’t mean this - but soon she starts to notice that not everything is as it seems here (AU).
Title from “Tolerate It” by Taylor Swift
Nancy’s mother finds her sitting on her bed on the first day of summer with a framed photograph in her hands. Kate Drew softens at the sight of her daughter, her usually perfect posture long forgotten as she wilts into the bed.
“Nance,” she says quietly, and Nancy instantly looks up, her face crumpling. Kate crosses the bare room to sit next to her only daughter, wrapping a secure arm around her shoulder. “Moving must be hard, huh?” For the past month, the family of three had been packing up their New York home in River Heights, loading things into trucks as their friends came by with endless casseroles and ceramic dishes they didn’t know what to do with. Nancy, as social as her mother before her, had drawn into herself more and more as she made her goodbyes.
“Liven up Nance,” Carson, Kate’s husband and Nancy’s father had said not too long ago as they ate the tuna casserole Helen Coring - Nancy’s best friend - had brought earlier that day as they put the contents of Nancy’s room into a U Haul truck. “We’re moving to River Heights Drive. Not that much of a change, right?”
Nancy had spent the rest of the night glaring at her father, resenting his audacity, and Kate had taken over with the reassurances.
“Yeah. I just hate the idea that I’m missing senior year.”
“Well, you’re not missing it per say. You’re still going to school here.”
Nancy looks at the picture of her, Helen, and another friend named Burt at the junior prom, their arms around each other. Nancy sighs. She considers launching into a tirade about how New York and Maine are very different places and no she is missing school, the important parts at least, but she knows that this move is hard on her mother too, so she refrains. “I guess so,” she says, reluctantly putting the picture on the stand she had placed next to her bed.
Kate kisses the top of Nancy’s head. “Good. Now why don’t you explore and I’ll see what casserole I can heat up.”
“Ugh Mom,” Nancy says, already grinning as she pulls her blue raincoat from one of the boxes on the floor in front of her.
Nancy’s wanderings lead her to a small seafood restaurant with a great view of the Atlantic. Nancy’s not used to being this close to large bodies of water, and it’s making her a little nauseous. Her father, a native of Boston, assures her that she’ll get over the salt air smell, but Nancy’s not so sure.
She looks up at the claw shaped sign, creaking eerily on its pole. The Bayside Claw Nancy reads. What a fitting name. And a fitting sign. Nancy’s about to turn and keep walking, since she’s not a big seafood person, but she sees a handful of well dressed men enter the restaurant. Nancy’s spent enough time in New York City to know when a well dressed person is just fashion conscious, or when they’re rich and up to something. These men are definitely the latter. Nancy pauses for a few moments to make sure that the men have had the time to settle, since she locked eyes with a young man with sandy blond hair and the beginnings of a goatee, and she doesn’t want him to think she’s following him.
Nancy is an unnecessarily paranoid person.
She pushes through the doors of the restaurant and is nearly mowed over by a person the moment she steps into the dining area. “Whoah, I’m sorry,” she says, stepping back in time to see a woman with long black hair and an oversized cardigan stagger backwards, clearly discombobulated by well… everything.
“Ugh, Victoria,” A girl about Nancy’s age in a green uniform grumbles. She catches sight of Nancy. “Sorry about that ma’am,” the waitress says, reaching down to haul the woman (presumably Victoria) off the ground. The waitress pushes Victoria out of the door that’s still held open by Nancy. “Go be drunk somewhere else!” The waitress - whose name tag reads George - turns to Nancy. “Can I help you?”
Nancy freezes, not quite sure why to say she’s here now that she’s been spotted by this rather vocal waitress when she’s saved by another waitress, this time in yellow.
“George, Mr. Hudson wants us to give his wife food,” the waitress says in a posh British accent. She’s holding a wobbly plate of fish and salad in one hand.
George turns from Nancy to the new waitress, annoyance crossing her face. “Well what do you want me to do? Roll it onto a cart for her? Go bring it outside!”
“Mr. Hudson left his wife outside?” Nancy asks, without thinking.
“Yeah, that fellow over there,” the waitress in yellow points to the sandy haired man Nancy had tailed into here.
“And that fellow is both incredibly rich and able to give us a boost and my foster dad so maybe you should shut up and give Tiffany her food,” George snaps. Both Bess and Nancy flush.
“Sorry,” Bess mumbles, stepping away and around Nancy to slip through the front door. Nancy’s a little jostled when Bess passes her, and she spins a little, turning towards the kitchen. She catches sight of a young man in a colorful Hawaiian shirt ringing the bell to signify an order. They lock eyes - ice blue on sky - and Nancy feels a wave of déjà vu pass over her, but she shakes it off. She turns back to George, who’s still looking at her, waiting for Nancy to say something.
Finally, Nancy makes up her mind. If she’s going to be stuck in this tiny town she might as well do something to occupy her time. “Are you hiring?”
George looks her over. “Are you new here?”
Oh. So it’s that kind of tiny town. “Yes, my family just moved here.”
George nods. “Right. Well, we could always use a new waitress. We had one leave for college and Bess isn’t the brightest so…” George trails off, cocking her head. “Do you hear that?”
Both Nancy and George tilt their heads towards the front door of the restaurant, where they can hear muffled shouting. Both girls look at each other for a moment before Nancy spins and pushes the door open. George is hot on her heels, and after a few moments, a third pair of feet joins them. Nancy turns to see shaggy blond hair under a black cap and knows that it’s the boy from behind the counter.
Nancy stops suddenly when she sees Bess standing over a body, shock on her face. “Omph,” Nancy says as both George and the other guy come barreling into her. She stumbles, and George catches her around the waist. Nancy opens her mouth to ask the very obvious question hanging in the air-
“Bess? What happened?” a decidedly male voice asks, taking the words straight from Nancy’s mouth. She looks up to see a tall boy with cocoa skin exiting a blue truck parked a foot behind Bess, the body, and the sleek car looming over the person Nancy can only assume is Mrs. Hudson.
A strangled cry escapes George, and she rushes forward, dropping to her knees next to the woman. “Help her!” George says, looking up at the four of them as she lifts Mrs. Hudson’s head to rest on her knees. She cradles it in her hands like an injured bird.
“What happened?” the Hawaiian shirt boy repeats. Bess is sobbing now.
“I turned to go back to the restaurant and all of a sudden she cried out and fell! I don’t know!”
Nancy, still not quite sure what in the world is happening, crouches next to George and Mrs. Hudson. She lifts one of Mrs. Hudson’s hands, feeling her wrist for a pulse.
“She’s not dead,” she says as sirens come wailing towards them.
Fifteen minutes later, Nancy, Bess, George, and the two boys are sitting in the hospital waiting room with Mr. Hudson, George leaning against Mr. Hudson’s shoulder.
“The Hudsons have been her foster parents for the longest out of any of her homes,” Bess says, leaning over to whisper in Nancy’s ear. Nancy smiles at her. “I remember what it’s like being new. I only moved in with my aunt here in Horseshoe Bay last month. I used to live in London. I’m Bess by the way.”
“Nancy,” Nancy says.
“Welcome. Where did you live before?”
“New York.”
“City?”
“State.”
“Oh that’s nice. I love the city, did you go often?”
“Yeah, sometimes,” Nancy says as the waiting room doors swing open. She’s startled to see a man in a uniform striding towards their little group. He’s probably in his thirty or forties, and he’s got a no nonsense look on his face.
“Are you the people found at the scene of the crime?” he asks in lieu of greeting.
“Woah, woah, crime?” Mr. Hudson asks, standing up, startling George, who had been dozing on his shoulder.
The officer turns to Mr. Hudson solemnly, putting a hand on his shoulder. “There was poison found in your wife’s system, Mr. Hudson, which means that someone had attempted to kill her.”
Everyone turns to Bess, except Mr. Hudson and the officers.
Mr. Hudson stares at the officer for a moment before sinking into his seat, a look of genuine fear on his face. “Who would want to kill Tif?”
“Not me I swear!” Bess cries, latching on to Nancy’s arm. Nancy gently pries her fingers off her arm.
The officer shakes his head, ignoring the distraught waitress. “I’m not sure sir, but it’s our job to figure it out. Why is why I need to speak to these five.”
They all look at Mr. Hudson: Nancy, George, Bess, and the two boys whose names Nancy still doesn’t know. But Mr. Hudson’s face is ashen, like he’s going into shock. The officer motions at the young people. “Come along.”
The five of them look at each other uncertainly before standing and following the officer into the hall. Nancy catches sight of his badge: Chief E. O. McGinnis.
Now, Nancy, being the daughter of a lawyer, should know her rights, and the right to remain silent is the biggest one, especially since she’s a minor, but she’s too confused and terrified to think straight.
She’s being investigated for attempted murder. Attempted murder. God her mother’s going to kill her.
The unlikely five line up against the wall. Chief McGinnis paces in front of them. “Alright. I’m looking at an ex-con,” he pauses in front of the guy from the truck. “The town screw up,” (this time he’s in front of George). “A city girl,” he’s in front of Bess now, who looks rather guilty in Nancy’s opinion. He moves to the fancy shirt guy standing next to Nancy. “An HBPD legacy and Nancy Drew.”
Except, that’s not what he says.
He pauses in front of Nancy, and tilts his head at her. “Who are you again?”
Nancy stares at him as the weird feeling of déjà vu hits her again. No. That’s not right. He knows who she is.
But she doesn’t know who he is.
Nancy feels her hands start to shake. Everything here is wrong. She should be sitting at the police station. She should know what’s happening. But she doesn’t because she’s being accused of attempted murder.
But it shouldn’t be attempted. Nancy slides down the wall, her hands pulling at her skin where she can feel the ghost of a locket.
My mother’s gonna kill me she thinks. But no, her mom’s dead. And Ryan isn’t George’s foster dad. He’s her dad.
This isn’t right.
This isn’t ri-
“Okay just give her space.”
When Nancy comes to, she’s looking up into the face of the boy who had been working at the Bayside Claw. Nancy’s laying on the ground, her head against the cold tile. The boy gently slips an arm under her shoulders, helping her to sit up.
“Hey, are you okay?” he asks.
Nancy doesn’t know the answer to that. He can tell, so he tries a different question. “What’s your name?”
“Nancy Drew,” she croaks. He smiles.
“Hi Nancy Drew. My name is Ace Hardy.”
“Hi,” Nancy mumbles back.
“And that’s Nick,” Ace says, pointing to the boy from the truck who’s hovering on the outskirts of the circle of people around her. “I hear you’ve met the girls.”
Nancy nods and Ace gently slips his other arm under her knees, lifting her up in his arms like she weighs nothing. He walks her towards the waiting room, talking as he goes. “That, Nancy, was a panic attack. Have those often?”
Nancy leans her pounding head against his muscular shoulder. “No.”
“Well, first time for everything. Got anyone we can call?”
“My dad,” she mumbles. Ace nods to Bess, who rushes forward with her phone out. Nancy recites her father’s number, and Bess puts it to her ear.
“Hello? Hi, yes, this is Bess Marvin. I’m calling about your daughter. She’s in the hospital, she had a panic attack.” Bess is quiet for a moment. “Nancy Drew, yes.” After a moment, Bess rattles off directions and hangs up.
Ace puts Nancy down on a chair next to Mr. Hudson. Nancy looks at him sideways. She’s about to say something to him when suddenly - as if her brain has been reset or something - she forgets what she was going to say.
“Want some water Nancy?” Ace asks. Nancy smiles at the unfamiliar boy.
“Yes, please,” she says. He stands and heads to the water cooler, Bess taking his spot. “What did the officer mean by Ace is a legacy?”
“Oh, that,” Bess says sadly. “Ace’s father was a Captain on the police force. He was in a chase once when Ace was a child. His car got hit, and he didn’t make it.”
“That’s so sad,” Nancy says.
“I know,” Bess agrees. “His mother is all he has. She’s a librarian, but she doesn’t make a lot of money. They just get by with her salary and the pension from the state. That’s why Ace turned down MIT. To work at The Claw.”
“That must be so hard,” Nancy says. She can’t imagine giving up her dream of going to Columbia.
“It is,” Bess agrees as the doors to the waiting room are pushed open. Nancy sees her father and mother being trailed by an annoyed McGinnis.
“You can’t just take a suspect home! She has to be fingerprinted! She has to give her statement!”
Carson turns on McGinnis. “Excuse me, but my daughter is a minor and she’s had a panic attack.”
“We’re taking her,” Kate adds. She spots Nancy and rushes to her, crouching to put her hands on either side of her daughter’s face. “Nancy, baby, are you okay?”
“Yeah, just tired.”
“Okay, we’re taking you home, don’t worry, Mom’s here.”
It’s a simple statement, and normally Nancy would complain that it makes her sound like a child, but it relaxes her nonetheless. She slumps into her mom, letting the exhaustion and confusion sink over her.
Kate runs her fingers through her red hair as Carson argues with McGinnis, who finally relents.
“Fine, fine, you all can go if Drew is going. But I expect you back at the station at eight am sharp.”
Nancy is pulled to her feet by her mother, and before she moves, she puts a hand on Mr. Hudson’s shoulder. “Your wife will get better sir,” she says. Mr. Hudson puts his hand over hers.
“Thanks.”
Nancy waves goodbye to everyone else before following her parents. As she falls asleep in the back seat of her dad’s car, all she can think is that something about this entire night is off.

What do you think of Kurt’s relationship with:
Rachel
Mercedes
Santana
any other friendship with girl? Brittany or Tina?
Oh boy. Okay.
Rachel: hate it. Hate the way it transitioned to sudden besties out of no where. Hate how it turned Kurt into her cheerleader 90% of the time while she took the 10% to reciprocate (Swan Song for example, that was a good pep talk from her to him). Hate how when he's not with New Directions, she's happy to help him try for a solo because he's her "only competition". Yet, when he tries for leading man material at McKinley, she too laughs in his face. When he gets the NYADA letter and she doesn't, she turns his excitement into her pity party. When he wins Midnight Madness, she turns it into "I guess I'm not talented enough and won't audition for anything". I hate how when she ditches him for fake friends who bad mouth him, she doesn't see that as a red flag to ditch them, until they vote for him and not her. I hate how she manipulates Elliott into claiming Kurt kicked her out when it was her own damn choice, and disowns Kurt when he didn't automatically take her side by playing referee for her outlandish claims against Santana. I hate "my best gay", it isn't cute, it isn't quirky, it's stupid and Kurt Hummel does deserve a better best friend who doesn't just use him to hoist themselves up. I'm glad Colfer called it the fuck out in his episode, even if it was magically fine at the end again just because she showed up to his Peter Pan show - shocker. I hate how she destroyed him being the actual student president by cheating, but that's fine because she owns up to it I guess? Like they still had to claim the cheerleader the winner who did nothing all year, when they could've had Kurt who would actually have done something good, but aT LeAsT sHe WaS HoNeSt right?????? I mean she is the one who also decided to run against him for a hot minute too, but SHE DROPPED OUT GUISE. BFF'S. It would've been so much better if they both went to New York, and then agreed to be roommates because it would be cheaper and we see them expand into actual friendship from there. Kurt doesn't need to stay relevant as a character just by being Rachel's best friend on the fact they both are into Broadway. THAT is the stereotype. Because remember, he's gay and she has two gay dads, so meant to be in each other's lives. Also ew having Rachel as a surrogate, what the fuck. No. Keep that controlling person away from any child of Kurt and Blaine's, that'll just cause more problems.
Mercedes: Maybe it's Colfer and Riley's friendship chemistry showing on screen, but I love and will forever love this friendship. I love that Kurt can admit he's wrong with her! ON HIS OWN! No sob story, no passive aggressiveness, no call out. Him realizing encouraging her to lose the weight was wrong? Growth. No, it isn't a perfect friendship, but it didn't start out of no where either. Kurt being dumb with trying to set her up with dates so he didn't feel bad in befriending Blaine. Mercedes letting her religious blinders encourage Kurt to go to church with her - but at least she approaches this conversation honestly, she doesn't sugar coat it from her point of view, which is good. They're both honest with one another. They're in each other's corners. Kurt Hummel heart eyeing every time she performs is the best. And it's dumb that it got pushed to the back for season 3 and onward. It should've grown from high schooler kids to young adults like a fine wine, instead of getting overlooked. There was potential of Mercedes being the surrogate, or even just another egg donor! But you know, some people needed to be zeroed in on and characters had to be tied to that characters hip, and Mercedes wasn't it.
Santana: Can you imagine how great (or terrible) this could've been if Kurt remained on the Cheerios? We can dream! But what we got in S4&S5 was great. Nice bantering, a mutual respect and understanding becoming a thing over time. They made pacts! They swore to each other about things off screen! She and him would've made a dangerous duo in New York if Rachel never moved back into the loft. She could've encouraged him to loosen up more, he would've helped her unlock a more vulnerable side of emotions when it came to catching feelings! Would've loved to see them bonding more like they did with the boyfriend arms watching TV! We were robbed, and s6 destroyed it all together, so. I wish we could've seen them on double dates, with Dani and Blaine. I wish we could've seen her trying to hook him up with guys in season 4! But no, two Slytherin's teaming up is too dangerous I guess. Fuck you glee.
Brittany: In the first season, it's nice to see that Brittany was the popular girl but still showing up to Kurt's house and dancing with him. It's because of her he joins the football team, briefly, and we get to see him kick ass at it and make a win for the Titans for the first time in however long! That's a big deal. I'm glad that she also approaches him in his "straight" phase and offers to help. And I'm glad she encourages Santana to go support Kurt during Prom Queen. BUT ANYTHING AFTER THAT, is null and void. Because she suddenly becomes this overly stupid child who only wants things done her way. When she offers to help him with his running for class president, she only focuses on him being gay and that's it - because it makes him a unicorn? It's a homophobic school, you really think shoving it in the bullies faces won't get him laughed out of a win? And he ditches the idea last minute anyway, so why bother going with that twist anyway? And when he gives her the rundown on what he wants to do, she ignores him and does it her way. When he gets mad, all of a sudden it's poor Brittany, she was just trying to help, Kurt's a meanie face. And when he (stupidly) accepts her idea for the campaign posters, she's like "oh by the way, I'm running against you now sorry I didn't tell you lol". And the bullshit of season 6 of her telling him that he needs to get over Blaine, then magically wants them to be in her and Santana's wedding? No. Keep her as far away from Kurt as possible after season 2.
Tina: Remember when Kurt fake dates her first? Wouldn't that have been an interesting play throughout that episode? Seeing Burt ask about Tina, Kurt bringing Tina over for dinner, Kurt and Tina discussing this new beard-ship for his dad, and then when he comes out, she would've been so happy for him? WE WERE ROBBED, YET AGAIN. We see them being friends throughout the seasons, but there isn't any growth with it. We don't really see her and Kurt doing things outside of school again. We see her help him for his NYADA audition as Christine (which he replaces her for Rachel, big shock, fuck you). We see him defending her against the jock bullies in the hallway. We see them walking to glee club together. But there's still nothing expanded on so it just falls flat. Clearly she and Kurt talk still after he graduates, as they both enjoy gossip. But what else?! We don't know! It had potential for friendship outside of school and outside of just gossiping! But alas.

so it’s a Saturday night and im home alone and kind of unwell so i decided to put on a random episode based on a generator online and then live blog my thoughts (but keep it all on one post so it’s not annoying)
much to my chagrin it chose a season 4 episode (lmaooo) 4x01 so here we go:
- honestly the opening scene is excellent and iconic with this dance class scene. i remember watching this for the first time being soooo excited to see rachel in New York and to see her suffer a little... well.........
- JESUS I FORGOT HOW HARSH MISS JULY WAS LMFAOOOOOO
- yo why is the glee club suddenly popular bc they won nationals ????? like why did that change anything ... makes no sense tbh bc they got bullied purely for the purpose of the actual activity of glee not really because they were bad
- tike breakup was Not Cool
- the shock reaction I experience every time seeing Australian Idol star Dean Geyer (Brody) on my screen bro
- kurt Hummel. Gorgeous. Iconic. I love you. Kurt Hummel around a baby. Gorgeous. Iconic. I love you.
- sue is so mean to kurt but janes delivery.... it’s just fucking brilliant and hilarious
- ok blaine in that call me maybe outfit. Hot
- brittanys comments to unique about being Mercedes. literally just shut up girl.
- okay call me maybe is A BANGER !!!! THE DANCING????? THE FUEDING? so much fun
- *crowd chants* BARISTA KURT! BARISTA KURT! BARISTAAAA KUURRRTT! Blaine doin that lil ‘I’ll call you’ so soft
- wait this episode is actuallly brilliant
- um......Jesus they are so not nice to unique with her wearing makeup like wtf is with THAT??
- kitty saying “glee people” why’s that so funny
- oh these fat people jokes are Not On glee . I take back what I said about this ep being brilliant
- GOD Kurt looks sooooo good this episode (hell, this whole season really). this whole audition scene is so FUUUNNNYYYY: “are there words to this song?” “oh she gotta go”
- I read somewhere that in Jakes audition he sounds like Kermit in the chorus and.....I can’t unhear it... even if I still think he sounds great at the same time. Also kinda rude that Schue cut him off
- oh hell yeah New York State of mind is sooooooooooooooooo good and the way they cut between New York and the high school was good, I’ll give glee credit for that
- WOOOOOFFFF klaine look amazing together
- okay so I love Blaine and obviously him getting the new Rachel part is some serious justice . But why was Brittany even in the running like she’s clearly the worst lol
- marley and her mum are SO sweet I forgot about that :’)
- yes I am feelin some Things with klaine having coffee in the courtyard together and Blaine singing it’s time is so fucking adorable i hate them and love them so muchchch!!!!!!!!!!!
- Blaine: I love you follow ur dreams baby. Also blaine 3 eps later: never mind (ugh, glee, cant believe those assholes broke these two up TWICE)
- I WILL BE THINKING ANOUT THAT KLAINE CUDDLE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE also it’s so random that Joe and Sugar are here and then they just. Disappear at some point. Ryan Murphy I would like to know why
- why’s every scene with Burt and Kurt just actually perfect. He truly IS the worlds greatest dad (why wasn’t Blaine there saying goodbye at the airport??????!!!!!)
- honestly this whole glee club going from popular to unpopular in just this episode.......makes no sense guys someone make it make sense to me
- Finished with a GREAAAATTT group number tyvm glee and Kurt in New York AS HE SHOULD BE
((((Omg sorry this ended up so long))))

His Translator Part 10
Henry and Burt walked to the brig together. When the brig's metal door opened, the first thing they saw was Reginald angrily talking to a prisoner through one of the cell windows and Sven standing awkwardly behind him. "I didn't want to believe it when I was told you were here. Yet we meet again." Reginald stated in an aggravated tone. Henry and Burt couldn't see who he was talking to. Sven noticed the two of them and immediately spoke up, interrupting Reginald. "Ah! Chief! You're here! This is the guy claiming to know you." Reginald, upon hearing this, moved back from the window, allowing Henry to see the prisoner. Burt stood next to him, ready to Translate his sign.
"Hey son, how have you been?" Terrence Suave. Henry knew that voice anywhere, even though he hadn't heard it in a while. Henry waved awkwardly. " 'Son'? " Reginald repeated under his breath. Burt shrugged it off, it was a little surprising, but it kinda made sense. Terrence glanced at Burt, "Who's your friend, Henry?" He asked. "I'm Burt, I'm the head of communications. I'm also Henry's translator since I know sign language." He replied bluntly. "Oh, well that's convenient. I don't know sign language." Terrence commented. Burt raised an eyebrow. "You have a son who's a selective mute and you never learned sign language?" Burt questioned. "Eh. Never got around to it, ya know? Besides, we had writing materials that he could use." Terrence replied, dismissing Burt. "Anyway, enough of that. Henry my boy! We haven't talked in a while, how's it feel being the leader of the Toppats?"
Henry remained silent, he didn't even lift his hands to sign. He just stared at his father, it was awkward, to say the least. It was hard to read his emotions at that moment. Was he mad? Or just surprised? "Right, good talk. Listen kiddo, could ya tell these hooligans to let me out? It's getting pretty boring in this little prison cell." Terrence's tone didn't sound quite like a request as much as it did a command. Henry eventually raised his hands to sign. Burt's eyes followed Henry's hand movements before relaying the message. "He's asking why you're here." Burt told Terrence, who just shrugged and said "I guess the Toppats didn't like me getting in the way of their heist and they brought me here."
"Even when you're not a part of the clan you still manage to cause us trouble." Reginald voiced, annoyance clear in his tone. "Oh shut up Reggie, I'm trying to talk to my son. This doesn't concern you." Terrence snapped. "Well, considering the fact that Henry's the chief now, a far better one than you ever were, I think it is my business. Unless HE says otherwise." Reginald replied sharply. Henry quickly signed. "He says you can stay." Burt stated. "Thank you" Reginald replied. Terrence rolled his eyes, then spoke again. "Seriously though Henry, I haven't heard from you in such a long time. You ignoring me or something? Haha"
"Yes." Henry replied. His voice laced with its usual hoarseness. Silence.
"Wow son. Your voice is uh…" Terrence trailed off, Henry gave him a glare. It was the kind of look that said "you know what you've done". It was stern, angry. It was kinda weird to see Henry like that, at least in Burt's opinion. Terrence on the other hand had a look of guilt. He sighed, then spoke up again. "I know… I'm sorry, Henry." Burt, Reginald, and Sven exchanged looks, each one indicating an awkward "I don't know what's happening either" feeling.
"Still mad, huh Henry?" Terrence asked. Henry signed, Burt translating it as he went along. "He's saying: Of course I am! Who wouldn't be? My voice is practically ruined thanks to your carelessness. I can't talk for long periods of time anymore. Not to mention, you couldn't even be bothered to learn sign language for my sake. I'll never sound the same again thanks to this!" Henry gestured to the scar on his neck before continuing (with Burt's help). "Was it really that hard to care? To just try and take precautions?" Another pause. Terrence eventually replied. "I never meant to hurt you, I hope you know that."
Henry signed, his translator helping him once again. "I know, but did you ever take the steps to make sure you wouldn't?" Terrence's head hung in shame. "Not as much as I should have."
Silence. Awkward, tense, silence. Burt looked up at Henry's face. He looked so… hurt. Burt put his arm around Henry, after all, that was something his boss usually did to comfort others, maybe he'd appreciate it. "Boss?" Burt asked, trying to elicit a response from Henry. Henry spoke up, despite his hurting throat. He just wanted to be done with this. "I… think we're done here." He turned to Reginald and Sven. "Send him to Earth." Henry started walking towards the brig's exit door Burt following behind him, ready to leave. "Son wait!" Terrence yelled, Henry paused but didn't turn around. "You know I love you, right? I know I'm not a very responsible person, but I love you, kiddo. Just, remember that. Okay?" Henry took a deep breath and replied: "I love you too. But I can't count on you." He then walked out.
...
Henry speed walked to his office with Burt right behind him. The two of them entered Henry's office and closed the doors. Henry returned to using sign.
'Sorry you had to be involved in that.'
"It's fine boss, I'm… I'm happy to help." Burt tried to give a friendly smile, but it ended up being more awkward than anything else. "So, uh, how are you feeling? After… all that." Burt asked, he really wished he was better at comforting people. 'I'm ok. Just aggravated.' Upon seeing that, Burt realized something. "Wait. Boss, didn't you tell me that your larynx was damaged from a surgical operation gone wrong? What did you mean back there when you said his carelessness nearly ruined your voice?" Burt questioned, something was definitely missing in that story. 'Both are true. I just didn't tell you the full story. The only other person I've told the full story to is Ellie.' Henry replied. Burt's curiosity definitely peaked there. "I've got time. If you wanna talk about it." Burt inquired, pulling up a chair. Henry thought about it for a moment. Burt was a good listener when he wanted to be, and if he didn't want to listen he wouldn't have offered in the first place. Yeah, he trusted Burt.
'When I was 12 my dad took me out to our backyard for shooting practice, and at some point he was standing next to me and twirling his revolver on his finger. The safety wasn't on and he accidentally shot me. He took me to the hospital and they managed to remove the bullet but they accidentally damaged my larynx. He didn't mean to hurt me. I know he didn't, but there were several times when I nearly died because he didn't take precautions. I guess I don't have the right to complain though. I'm pretty reckless too. Maybe it's wrong of me to hold a grudge, since I'm not much better, but it still hurts.' Burt felt a little pang in his heart. Sure Henry was reckless, but he was a good boss. He had clear goals and dedication, he didn't just go into things blindly. Even Reginald freaking Copperbottom said he was a good leader. Burt wanted Henry to remember that. He held Henry's hand, catching his attention. "Boss, you're totally justified in being upset. What happened to you has affected you for your whole life since then. You counted on him to be responsible, and he wasn't. And sure, you're reckless, you have plenty of scars to prove it, but you have purpose. You know what you want and you do whatever you can to achieve it. You care about us, and trust me, the Toppats appreciate it. I appreciate it. I mean, that's why your spine was replaced, right? You helped us, we helped you. I'm pretty sure if the clan thought you were as bad of a leader as Terrence Suave was, you wouldn't still be the chief. Plus… I like having you as a boss. I think you're pretty great." Burt's cheeks turned a bit pink as he finished talking. He wasn't emotional with many people, but he was willing to be sincere with Henry. Henry was sincere with him, vulnerable around him, he trusted him, and Burt liked being there for Henry. There was this pleasant, warm feeling Burt got when Henry was around him. He wasn't 100% sure what it was exactly. Platonic? Romantic? He didn't know, but regardless of what the specifics were, he knew that he cared. For once, he cared.
Henry hugged Burt, which certainly did not make the blush on Burt's face any less prominent. Eventually Henry pulled away. "Feeling any better?" Burt asked. Henry smiled and gave a thumbs up. "Ok good." Burt replied. There was a slight pause.
'Want to go get some muffins?' Henry signed, Burt chuckled. "Sounds good, Boss."
To be continued...
