Your argument rests on the mistaken notion that if a text “explicitly states” certain facts, then no further analysis or interpretation is necessary. This view reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of literary analysis and its inherent complexity.
Firstly, claiming that characters like Lily, James, or Snape are defined solely by the repeated descriptions provided in the books overlooks the nuance and multiplicity of layers present in well-crafted narratives.
Your argument is deeply flawed and demonstrates a fundamental misreading of the text. For instance, when it comes to James, every assertion about his supposed transformation is made by his closest friends—people who were clearly biased in his favor. These same friends even downplayed or outright denied the awful things James did, yet somehow his change is celebrated as if it were an established fact. In reality, this change is never actually shown; we never see James engage in any genuine act of contrition. He was an abuser, and there is no moment in the narrative where he apologizes to his victims or displays true remorse. The surprise of his friends at Harry’s anger only reinforces the idea that any transformation is, at best, a convenient retelling rather than a genuine evolution of character.
Regarding Lily, while no one disputes that she was kind, the narrative suffers from a classic “show, don’t tell” failure. We are told repeatedly that she was a good person, yet the flashbacks reveal subtle moments of cognitive dissonance between her moral ideals and her actions. This discrepancy invites readers to question the depth of her character rather than accept a simplistic, one-dimensional portrayal. A character should be more than just a set of repeated affirmations; their actions and internal conflicts must corroborate those descriptions.
Furthermore, your depiction of Snape as unequivocally cruel is contradicted by multiple textual details. For example, Severus was never especially cruel to Hermione—apart from that one notorious incident concerning her teeth, his behavior was far more measured than your argument suggests. Additionally, several characters, including some of Harry’s own friends and even students from non-Slytherin houses, have remarked that Harry’s intense hatred and mistrust of Snape are overblown. Hermione herself has acknowledged Snape’s competence as a teacher. Moreover, it’s explicitly shown that Snape’s primary objective was always to protect and save as many people as possible, a fact that he withholds only for reasons that the text deliberately leaves ambiguous. To continue painting him as a one-dimensional villain while ignoring these nuances is not only inconsistent but also absurd.
By insisting that the text leaves no room for debate, you demonstrate a rigid, literalist approach that fails to engage with the dynamic nature of storytelling. Literature is not merely a set of immutable facts but a living dialogue between the text and its readers. It accommodates multiple, even contradictory, interpretations that enrich our understanding of its themes and characters. To claim otherwise is to ignore the very essence of literary analysis.
In summary, your argument is deeply flawed because it confines literary analysis to a narrow, superficial reading. Rather than acknowledging the complexity and potential for diverse interpretations, you reject any interpretation that diverges from what you perceive as the “explicit” truth. This approach not only oversimplifies the text but also demonstrates a lack of familiarity with the critical tools necessary for a more thoughtful and nuanced exploration of literature.
Sometimes, you just can't argue your way out of things the books explicitly state as true. Certain facts are presented so consistently and reinforced by multiple perspectives that they are not up for debate.
Lily is described as kind and cheeky not just once, but multiple times by different characters who knew her personally. From Slughorn's recollections to Dumbledore telling Snape Harry is more like Lily than James, we are repeatedly shown that Lily was compassionate, strong-willed, and had a sharp wit.
James matured into a good person, and this isn't just wishful thinking, it's directly confirmed by multiple people who knew him both at his worst and his best. Sirius and Remus acknowledge his arrogance in his youth but also affirm that he grew up.
Snape, meanwhile, is undeniably cruel and obsessed with the Dark Arts. This is not just Harry’s bias or an exaggeration, we are told these things by other characters. He invents dark spells and willingly becomes a Death Eater. His behavior toward his students (particularly Neville and Hermione) is outright abusive, and his grudge against James extends so far that he torments Harry for years, despite his supposed love for Lily.
The books present these truths to the reader consistently at different points in time. While there’s room for analysis and discussion, outright denying what the text repeatedly tells us isn’t interpretation, it’s just ignoring canon.

Unpopular opinion (I think?)
The fandom needs to accept that Lilith is allowed to be flawed mother, wife and person without being treated like a monster
How was she supposed to perfectly know how to be a mother, she never had any parents from which she could learn to be one. Even parents who grew up in perfectly healthy families aren't perfect parents. She never was a child and therefore doesn't know how hard it is to go through puberty and other parts of growing up
She literally was one of the two first humans and i can image that neither Lilith nor Lucifer knew what it means to be in a super perfect relationship, Adam, Lilith first partner, literally demanded Liliths submissions which caused Lilith to meet Lucifer in the first place. So how is she supposed to know what a healthy relationship is supposed to be.
And from what we know so far fell Lucifer in depression after their fall and this can be hard for a relationship even if it was a healthy one. There was not really therapy invented to this time and for the next like thousand years or more. So how is she supposed to know what the perfect things are to do in this situation so maybe she did things which she thought would be right for him even if she it was wrong because she doesn't know better
We also don't really know how everything which happened affected her yet, we know that she motivated hell but that doesn't mean that she can't be traumatized as well
But from what we know what happened to her, it is just tragic
First she was trapped in a relationship with a misogynistic man who demanded submission from her

She found love with Lucifer and they tried together to give Eve and humanity freewill by giving Eve the apple

But that caused evil to find it's way and Lucifer and Lilith were banished to hell

Lucifer then fell in depression while Lilith motivated Hell with her voice
But that caused then the exterminations to happen in the first place where regularly sinners get killed, so I can image that Lilith was after that maybe not in the best head space
Ruling over hell is also a challenge itself and we don't know how Lucifer and Lilith split their work as being depressed can cause a person to be not able to handle that responsibility in Lucifers case, so maybe she did the main work while he just couldn't do it
The same with parenting Charlie, having a child is straight up exhausting whatever if the child is a human and or Sinner/angel hybrid. And if Charlie is now at least 200 years old how long took it till she was an adult?
We can't really say how she was as a mother but from what we heard from Charlie i can't image her to be cold and distant to her daughter. Charlie believes that Lilith would be proud of her if she saw her right now, she thinks that her mother is doing something important and in the pilot Charlie calls Lilith who disappeared for 7 years rather than her father (again not blaming Lucifer, he just was in shitty situation as well). Sure it could be a red hering so that it is more shocking that she evil but the same could be said about the last scene where we see her on the beach to make us believe that she is a villain despite her having a good reason for everything she does
Despite her being in heaven, we don't know why she is there, maybe she just couldn't take it anymore in hell, maybe she just saw an opportunity to be somewhere without her responsibility as a queen, the deal between her and Adam is unknown so we won't know the exact reason why she is there until later in the show
And honestly even if she is just in heaven for selfish reasons doesn't automatically mean that she is an unredeemable monster, this show afterall is about persons facing their flaws and personal problems to get redeemed so why should Lilith be the exception?

There's nothing more honest than working on an old pickup truck. Unlike today's pickup trucks, old ones are basically just a chunk of steel bolted to an engine and an axle. Anything you can do to them is basically in the spirit of the original factory workers, even more so if you're drunk and/or high on things that aren't futuristic research chemicals. They hadn't invented those yet.
Now, you might also think that old pickup trucks are expensive. Sure, running and driving ones with all of their body panels have been enjoying a resurgence lately. With all the cool old luxury cars, muscle cars, shitty jeeps, and base-model commuter cars hoovered into the selfish grasp of exploitative capital, it's only a matter of time until they come for the humble, working man's pickup truck that was abandoned at the bottom of some farmer's field when the distributor finally exploded, now getting shot at periodically by his grandkids.
There's a lot of old trucks out there, because "old truck" used to mean "vehicle I grudgingly drove in order to accomplish actual work." The moment they stopped being reliable, they were gotten rid of, or relegated to chicken-coop duty. And, back in the day, there were more people who did actual work than there were folks who pushed spreadsheets around.
Supply is on your side: you can still get a deal. And if your standards are low enough, the range of "a deal" becomes very wide indeed. If you ask professional car restorers and collectors, they tell you to get the "best truck you can afford." That makes sense: if your goal is to end up with a working or at least semi-attractive truck, you'll spend less money and maybe fewer divorces starting with a 5/10 rather than a 3/10. Me, I'm not that picky. I'll take a 0.5/10. I'm all about the process.
All this is to explain why I just came home with a 1952 Mercury M100 pickup truck that consists mostly of the serial number plate and the rear axle (which is seized.) I figure I just need to sit on this thing for a few years longer, until prices really go nuts, and then I'll be able to sell it to someone whose business card says "Excel Astronaut" for the approximate price of a two-bedroom condo. And in the meantime, I'll have a cool project to work on that I don't have to worry too much about. If you help me get this chicken out of here, I'll cut you in on the deal.

yeah, I mean, at least a little historical context is helpful, but especially by the time we're in college, like, I should have the right to answer a stupid question with, "because it's Victorian England, Todd." But I can't really say that because of the way we draw boundaries around subjects. It's buckwild to me that people don't understand that the MEDIA a culture of any given time and place is producing is related to the HISTORY it is experiencing. I like to use Mag 7 and the remake for this. What cultural concerns and ideas of identity do you think are going on here*? How do we think this idea has changed over the years? What does it reflect about the actions America is taking and having taken upon it?
I don't have a huge problem with your sort of death of the author and/or tabula rasa type reads--I mean, fuck, that's how I liveblog shit--but I think that some things don't become apparent if you don't have any idea what the fuck is happening in the place you're reading from.
If I'm understanding you correctly, you mean the way like, we only teach American History and not, for example "History 1850-1900"? I don't necessarily disagree with that, though of course it depends on what you're talking about and what needs to be included for that. Also how you decide what to drill it down to. Like I DO think it's important to understand that our successful bid to be a sovereign nation is because the French hated the English so fucking much that they backed our play to the suffering of their own coffers. To clown on England. I mean, maybe it could have happened anyhow, but it sure fucking helped that France was sitting offshore blowing cannonballs to English ships while going, 'hon hon hon, this is so fucking funny' We owe an INSANE debt to France (though it was not actually about us, I maintain) But I don't know, also! I'll have to think about this some more. I mean, you know me, the world was invented in 1776 by Samuel Adams but didn't really do much until 1860.
My big thing, if I were ever a teacher I would just have to stand in front and go, "I do not care if any of these people are good people or bad people. I don't care. I don't care if they did shitty things, I don't care if they did good things, I care about what their ideas and actions did to influence the world. We are not at the pearly gates and you are not Saint Peter. You are not weighing their hearts against a feather. We are going to go into this class thinking every person we talk about is complicated, frustrating, and governed by the morals, social structure, conventions, viewpoints, and history to that point. A bad person can be exceptionally fucking correct. A good person can fuck up incredibly. If you need clear black and white moralities and identities, go pick up a fiction book. WE got that?"
Boy was this more than you cared to hear.
*To my own regret, I am a slut for Brit Lit, but if i could teach any one course for college, it would be "The Western and American Identity" and it would include books and movies and radio plays and history.

You have at least one religious follower!
LGBT+ Christian, so I'm kinda numb hatred from both sides, and you're not being offensive at all!
You're not even hurtful, somebody called me something really bad which amounted to "opressed loving the opressors".
Keep doing what you're doing, you're perfectly valid in your opinions and so far the most nuanced blog on warrior cats tumblr!
Jeez, I'm sorry someone ever said that to you, that's super shitty!
Like, I have my opinions and strong feelings, and a lot of distrust for organized religion because of life experience, but I don't hate religious people. I even had to cut family out of my life who kept proselytizing after I'd set boundaries; doesn't mean that ALL religious people are like that.
I write Clan spirituality in a way that tries to approach that. The Clans are a theocracy and the Leader has divine right to rule, and that's terrifying. The ancestors mean a lot to the living cats but StarClan itself is flawed. Morality changes over time as the divine shifts in response to culture.
Personal belief can be a very good and comforting thing; but religion is an invention of the living in BB, prone to human/feline flaw.
I guess it just surprises me in a positive way that I've approached it well enough to have not alienated people. It's cool to know I've been tactful enough to thread the needle I suppose.
#Don't get me wrong though I do block people I catch with actively destructive beliefs#Like transphobes. Get lost. I will add ANOTHER trans cat if you look at me funny#But not ALL Christians are like that#In fact I think most christians are just kinda culturally that way. Most people don't really think through such fundamental beliefs.#religious talk#bone babble

Hear me out on this theory and lemme know what you think!😏😏😏 Ik you love Snape this is no hate love your blog😘 but what if Snape was the one who started bullying the Marauders and that’s how they found out about the spell (Levicorpus) bc aint Lupin say it was a very popular one used amongst students🤨🤨🤨 someone mustve started it 😏 (also a bit weird how its only bullying when its done to Snape eeh)
Hello! Thank you for the message and the love! I don't really agree but I don't mind answering and talking about it!
The thing is that we see how the bullying originated in Prince's Tale, and it wasn't Snape lol. I've said this a lot but we have to think about why the author chose to show what she did, and everything points to the fact that the Marauders victimised Snape at school. If it was supposed to be that Snape started it all/secretly deserved everything, that's what we would have been shown.
Regarding Levicorpus (and Sectumsempra) there's a high likelihood that Snape invented those spells out of a need for self-defence, at least partially. Sectumsempra being "for enemies" and the fact that he uses it on James in SWM is evidence of this. For me this doesn't necessarily mean that he never used those spells maliciously or unprovoked, but the thing is that even if he did it doesn't change the fact that he was bullied, or that what the Marauders did was wrong.
Obviously the Marauders didn't know that Snape invented Levicorpus, so it does seem like it spread independently. Perhaps Snape told Mulciber and Avery about it, perhaps he used it on someone unrelated to the Marauders and someone saw him and it spread from there, who knows. It's not really relevant though imo. Victims of bullying can do shitty things or even be bullies themselves, it's not a black and white situation.
I don't think anyone has claimed that it's only bullying if it's Snape. For instance I think it can be reasonably argued that Snape trying to expose Remus and get him kicked out for being a werewolf is a form of bullying. Later in life he definitely bullied his students. Bullying is just much more complex than "this is the bully and this is the good guy." I get that it's comforting to believe your favourite characters never did anything wrong or that they were justified, but the thing is that it's unnecessary. These aren't real people that you choose to support, they're fictional characters and it's fine to like them even though they did bad things! Realising this will ultimately be more comforting because you won't be fighting a losing battle against your own sense of morality haha. Objectively James and Sirius did bad things, it's just how it is, and they're still good characters.
#i do subscribe to the 'sev took it out on remus who he saw as the weakest link' school of thought lol. but so what haha#also snape bullying wormtail in spinners end is *chefs kiss* we needed to see more of that#that one's a good example of how it's not black and white. is it objectively bullying? yes. is it objectively iconic and swag? also yes#severus#replies#meta

The DC movie Birds of Prey totally disrespected its "source material"
Now, what I am going to post is nothing particularly new or inventive - I am basically preaching to the choir and ranting about meaningless bullshit. But, the movie Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey can barely even be called an adaptation. In my opinion, it doesn't even feature the team, despite what the name claims.
Birds of Prey at first didn't even have a name. It was just... Oracle's field agents, Black Canary being the first but far from the only one. The whole damn premise and reason for the team to exist was to have someone do things for Barbara she couldn't do anymore.
How the hell can you have the team without her?? It's ORACLE'S team. Barbara leads them, plans their missions, gets them intel, recruits new members, funds them. She is the voice in their ears, the eye in the sky...This is why, hot take, I believe the TV series from 2002 is a better adaptation (although, on its own it's a pretty shitty TV series). It at least has the team's founder and leader, however odd and nonsensical it was at times. Yes, I watched it. Most of it, anyways.
I mean, sure, Harley and Barbara have so much in common. Both were created for a Batman show, both had their lives changed by Joker, both went, in at least one continuity, from working with Suicide Squad to founding Birds of Prey, both are highly educated, both have a homoerotic relationship with their best friend... You could totally swap one with another. Totally the same thing.
Alright, enough of disgruntled sarcasm. I am hesitant to call the comic books a source material for this film because it genuinely doesn't feel like it's supposed to be that. If you take out Oracle out of Birds of Prey, what are you left with? Basically any random superhero team but all women.
Making the movie about Harley Quinn is pretty darn insulting. She was already dominating in the media with the movie Suicide Squad, the first season of Harley Quinn show, and she was in many comic books, in Suicide Squad, Harleen was being published... And there was much more to come out and there is still so much of Harley Quinn content to come out. Sticking her into yet another team was just unnecessary. Just don't make a Birds of Prey adaptation if you need Harley that much.
It should've been a Harley Quinn solo movie. Or Gotham City Sirens. I am just mad I was promised a Birds of Prey movie and didn't get it. But that's on me, I suppose. I was dumb. I just found out about the existence of BoP and decided to check out if it was ever adapted, not reading the reviews much...
Alright, the movie had Black Canary and Huntress, apart from Oracle the two most frequent members of the team. That's alright, I suppose. Yes, their personalities, backstories and looks were changed but something is bound to change when adapting a story. That is not a problem (although Helena was sometimes a bit annoying, I am not going to lie. Angry loner and a ruthless and vengeful vigilante that, despite everything, wants to fit in, that has a passion for teaching and is very protective of children, that has moral conflicts with Oracle over her controlling tendencies and disregarding notions like privacy etc. is much preferable to an assassin whose only personality trait is being socially awkward).
There is not much of a point to this stupid rant, except the fact that Birds of Prey are pretty much my favorite comic book series and I am pretty bummed out that this is probably the only adaptation for a long while.
I am just going to ignore the totally unnecessary Cassandra Cain name-drop because holy shit. That was not the character.
Also no Zinda Blake :(

Ignoring trauma sometimes lets it perpetuate
I promise this will get to a larger social justice message, though it goes over adoption. Light general labeling of trauma. No specifics.
So as an adoptee, I often see people try to argue a few type of things about adoption:
Adoption is Always Good ™
Only Birth parents are evil
Birth mother good/angelic
All exporting countries are evil (and therefore importing countries are good)
Adoptive parents are angelic and always good.
Agencies are always good
Foster Care is evil
There is no way to end adoption, as a system.
But Adoptees are Lucky and Foster Care children are all Evil™
And usually people want to be and stay ignorant about adoption history as a whole, because it's really difficult to face the whole of humans being shitty in one go. I mean, who wants to listen to hours of humans r*ping, stealing children (in the literal sense), child slavery, imperialism, all of the major systems of hating (poverty, racism, etc) etc all to crush entire cultures and then come out of the other side and survive with the core belief, but Adoption Always Good ™ and Adoptee are lucky, but those Foster Care children aren't and oh well, we're hopeless.
It's much, much easier to not listen to 300+ years of history of oppression and come out with "But Adoptees are Lucky and Foster Care children are all Evil™" than it is to face that maybe adoption absorbs the world's trauma and is an excuse to ignore it.
And probably this is why I ended up wanting to write at least a little about trauma. It's not the C-PTSD, but fundamentally, if you continue to try to airbrush everything with a Good and Bad brush and don't want to face the particulars, it's going to repeat again and again.
Mother homes? Invented in the 18th century. Baby Boxes, invented in the 18th century. But because people wanted to ignore the problems with these things and what was reported, they repeat it over and over again.
Baby Boxes, now also came up in the 2000's. Did the minister know about the Baby Boxes from the 18th century and the systemic problems about it? No. So the same issues from the 18th century repeated yet again. Because people wanted to ignore the trauma involved.
Child trafficking from China with others imperializing the country, congratulations... it was repeated from Korea, and then exported to Africa with some really inhumane upgrades along the way, but because we ignored it, it repeated again with some really terrible upgrades. Instead of pay for your child, let's upgrade it to steal your child because you're a single mother. Let's upgrade it because your child is disabled and you can't read, let's pretend to be a charity and then steal your child because you're in a war zone and can't fight back and now what you thought was free, isn't free at all, you have to pay for your child's treatment to get your child back.
What I'm pointing to is often people want to avoid the truth of unjust systems, often and especially when they are a part of them and they aren't blameless. And what I've learned in adoption is that it is *the* top dumping ground system for all of the failures of the other systems. This is why it's often better to label Adoption as Always Good. Because then you can ignore the A-Z of the horribleness of human nature itself, because your head feels at first you can't survive that. But I promise facing the horribleness of human nature can help you 100% call it out when it's happening and maybe even prevent it.

not to psychoanalyze myself too much but i wonder if i tend to declaw/downplay some of Connor's (implied?) behaviour towards his sister because family bullying is/was so normalized for me, lol?
like, my sister looks at me as an adult and laughs and says "God I was so horrible to you" and i look back and laugh and say "I know"
my sister was, in fact, very mean sometimes. i remember screaming and crying at her door, I can't remember why, but she'd upset me badly. us viciously fighting and screaming at each other was normal. it's very normal for siblings to fight, to hurt each other. it's normal for older family members to pick on you, try to upset you/get a rise out of you. i don't personally think this is right, but it's typical in my family and i feel like in my culture in general.
now. i haven't and won't read the book, i've only watched the musical one time, and i highly doubt i'll watch the movie. i've watched reviews of the movie and been on and off involved in the fandom since 2018.
my reinvention of who Connor is was always a guy with a really shitty dad, a mother who tried to keep the peace, and a sister who he resented for being the "good" one out of the two, all of whom he lashed out at and acted like he didn't care about. he had issues with mental health, obviously, and he was a dick, sometimes for good reason (towards his father) often not really for a good reason (towards his sister). he pushed people away before they could hurt him further.
but. i don't think i ever would have used the word "abusive" for him in reference to his relationship with Zoe, maybe due to my own affection for this invented personality and to protect myself psychologically for "sympathizing with an abuser" and what that would say about me. nowadays, i like characters who are, without a question, toxic and manipulative and, at times, abusive. i stillllll dunno if i'd apply it to him. not to the almost-wholly-fanon version of him that lives in the back of my head and periodically tortures me (as you can see, if you've read any of my posts in the last 24 hours and followed my descent into the Connor Murphy hell that I'm in) anyway. even if he was abusive, it doesn't mean he couldn't change with actual support. i've been a really big fan lately of horrible (morally speaking) characters who become a little less horrible with more love and a little perspective, and Connor was probably prototypical of that lol.
and. ultimately, DEH is a musical that I think is bad and i don't like the story it told in the first place. i like the idea of the characters and I've always felt out of place and hypocritical in the fandom alongside the people who actually like the source material. it's not a typical thing for me to be a hater and still so attached to elements of a fandom (although it does happen, sometimes. DEH and fucking Tangled the Series are the two biggest offenders. i am Like This about the character of Cassandra even though I slowly came to hate the source material too, lol..) but i can't help it. i still like engaging in the fandom, writing my fic, reading the fic, even if i bastardize the source material more than i usually would. at least it's with intention.
#deh#personal#using tumblr as my diary again#connor murphy#idk the line between fix it because i love the source material and fix it because it was fucking dumb can be thin.#i like being a lover. sometimes im a hater anyway

Much like how I like calling Kamen Rider Buffa "Buffabuttface"...
My nickname for Bouche Stomach...is Douchebag Stomach. (Basically take the name "Bouche", keep the pronunication the same but replace the "B" with "D" and include "bag" at the end of said name and you get "Douchebag". Douchebag Stomach)
He's a terrible father and husband. (but even the husband might even be iffy as Shouma's mom was kidnapped and isolated against her will)
But even OUTSIDE of being a shit family member, he was a shit INDIVIDUAL too. I mean...isn't this the granute who INVENTED the dark treats? The type of drug treats that involve capturing and killing off humans to make them? That probably goes to show how he has no regard for humans like his fullblood granute children and they probably picked that up from him.
Plus doesn't he own a BUSINESS involving the production and selling of these dark treats? That means he's one of those shady corrupt greedy corporations everyone hates.
Wow...this Douchebag is the representative culmination of three awful things at once: - Abusive Shitty Family Member (This exists in real life, bad parenting and bad relationship partner) - Shady Greedy Corporate Higher Up Scumbag that only cares for Success and Profit of their own products (This ALSO exists in real life) - Terrible Individual that has no respect for the human race or different species from his own (Like extreme racist people, poachers, etc)
Geez, just how much of an awful douche can someone be? How many awful things in reality can a character represent? WTF. That's Douchebag Stomach in a nutshell. So what do you think of this, as well as this nickname?
Anyone wanna sign the petition (either by liking or reblogging or commenting) to call Shoma's sperm donor "Douchebag Stomach" LMAO?
I don't think the lore about the Dark Snacks has actually revealed at whose behest they were invented. Dente invented the system that creates Human Presses to flavor the Dark Snacks, and he was a generation above Bouche (he was Bouche's uncle). So it's entirely possible that it was Bouche's father or some other relative that was actually responsible for their creation.
And I could definitely see them obfuscating the reason why humans are targeted as an ingredient, at least to members who are more sympathetic to humans. We don't exactly know how Granutes see humans in general, since we haven't met one who is isn't part of the Stomach family or is one of their agents. Heck, we don't even know if the Dark Snacks are banned because they're made from humans or because they're just basically Granute crack (or both).
Also, it seems like Stomach Inc. operates a legitimate confectionary business (for Granutes), partly to be a front for the Dark Snack underground business. This makes them akin to Museum from W also having legitimate businesses in Fuuto.
So, Bouche could be more like Saeko, being someone who took over both the legit and illicit sides of the business, while not being involved with the initial creation of their illegal drug counterpart (as Saeko's parents were the ones who first created Gaia Memories).
(As an aside: we don't know which came first- the legit business or the shady business- but I think given Rango's preoccupation with being accepted by the Granute's high society the legit business is probably pretty new, making them part of the noveau riche. The marriages he set up for the twins would probably go toward them being more accepted and thus, less scrutinized.)
That said, I can't dispute Bouche's treatment of Michiru and Shouma; even if it were for their own safety it was still abuse. It's no different from the ivory tower Neon was locked up in her whole life.

Hey, I hope your dad doing well
But remember that shitty good times sequel cartoon where the daughter is the black military archetype? Which the proud family revival did
Okay, so people want to know why Huey Freeman worked?
Well Aaron Mcgruder remembers the later half of Malcom X life. So Huey got calmer over the seasons as he realize at the end of the day he just a kid and still have much to learn
Yes yes Malcom believe that Yakub shit
Until he went to Mecca to preach it… and when your seemingly higher than the Hassassins to Muslims…
He got a bitch slap of reality and converted to Sunni Islam
Random, I saw a YouTuber complain how forest grump made fun of the black panthers because they created due to systemic oppression
Just like Khemer rouge with French colonization. Because us black people loved the BP party-
Wait we actually hated them because they were racist af like the kkk? Also they have several domestic abusers in them?
I mean where are they now?…seriously why the kkk still around vs them? Or is blm a new front?
Also I love how they keep saying “they” aka white people out the guns and drugs into our community
It’s the fucking government, they used anything to keep their pets on plantation.
Here a thing I noticing
Black Activists: white people putting the drugs into our communities since the 80’s and killed MLK!
Me: Fascinating, oh should we analyze why our community 75% bastards right after the civil rights movement after primary upper middle boomer feminists projectbcasual sex and other primary upper middle class or elite hendoist behaviors onto the working class?
BA: Nah I like sleeping around
M: Oh that black boys being sexually abused by older girls or women is skyrocketing high
Sorry, yes it effect both genders, but on black twitter, the amount of times black men said they got lucky loosing their “virginity” at fucking 5. It feel like, we need to tell them they were raped
Yes it affects all races, thanks feminism for treating little boys like grown men while female pedos like toddlers.
But if the rampant CSA among black American kids caught wind in mainstream.
The fallout is going to be nasty, sorry just UGH
You guys hate what white people did to us but cling onto the sex revolution like a turkey leg
Hey, I hope your dad doing well
Just got home a little bit ago, he's home and as good as one can be after heart surgery.
But remember that shitty good times sequel cartoon where the daughter is the black military archetype? Which the proud family revival did Okay, so people want to know why Huey Freeman worked?
Huey worked because he called everyone out for their bs, wasn't giving people a pass for their skin colour, at least that's one reason imho.
Asshole but honest iirc.
Well Aaron Mcgruder remembers the later half of Malcom X life. So Huey got calmer over the seasons as he realize at the end of the day he just a kid and still have much to learn Yes yes Malcom believe that Yakub shit
He did chill ya, Wed night we were doing stuff in Genesis at church asked the pastor if Jacob had invented white people by this point in history yet, it got a chuckle, since both Islam and nation of islam have managed to lay claim to some of the Jewish patriarchs, Christians too but we don't claim them or deviate from the Jewish scriptures about them.
Until he went to Mecca to preach it… and when your seemingly higher than the Hassassins to Muslims… He got a bitch slap of reality and converted to Sunni Islam
Ya he managed to be a lot less hateful towards the end, probably why farrakhan (likely) had him assassinated.
Random, I saw a YouTuber complain how forest grump made fun of the black panthers because they created due to systemic oppression
OG BPP did a lot of good, also managed to help get several gun control laws passed in the state of CA because of a wrong turn, Huey Newton and Eldridge Cleavar and a bunch of the rest of them too, were well versed in gun laws at the time and followed them to the letter.
At that point in CA you could observe law enforcement in their actions, from a reasonable distance, 8-10 feet or so, with a shotgun sitting on your shoulder, legally.
Managed to keep some "roughhousing" we'll call it, from the cops happening, as well as making sure they followed the law, they were the cellphone cameras of their time, but far more intimidating.
(When you hear people say that gun laws have racism at their core, this is one of the reasons people say that)
But they had food banks and neighborhood programs to keep kids out of trouble and they did a lot of good, some bad too, but ya they were those uppity N* that wound up being part of the reason the FBI flooded the streets with crack.
You want to see something crazy though, you can learn what the "establishment" actually fears and why they've decided to let racism come back the way they have.

This is Chicago history here, that they likely left out of the books (Article Link here) This is what they fear, Hillbilly Harlem boys can do this, we might get some class solidarity and leave race behind us.
If you look at the timing of everything, what was just before the current wave of new racism was the occupy movement, and they did the whole thing again with that.
Got the NBBP now, they don't go for class solidarity anymore.

I do love to see Americans exercising their 2A rights though, may not like your politics but I support your right to self defense anyhow.
Good back and forth there
Sorry, yes it effect both genders, but on black twitter, the amount of times black men said they got lucky loosing their “virginity” at fucking 5. It feel like, we need to tell them they were raped
That is one of the things they don't really talk about and I don't recall how I managed to get read in to the big secret about everyone's favourite auntie in the neighborhood.
They ain't making a man out of you, like you said it's rape.
Yes it affects all races, thanks feminism for treating little boys like grown men while female pedos like toddlers. But if the rampant CSA among black American kids caught wind in mainstream. The fallout is going to be nasty, sorry just UGH
I feel like it's eeked out here and there, but someone big needs to do a thing about it, bigger than when L&O SVU had Ice-T throw the whole "on the down low" thing out there.
Which that's only gonna be a scandal in the black community, pointing out that there's a designated first lay for the boys in the neighborhood that parents send their kid to, well those that aren't aware of it might make enough noise to do something.
That or get called racist for calling it out for what it is.
You're one of the first people I've seen on here not speak about that in code and whispers.
You guys hate what white people did to us but cling onto the sex revolution like a turkey leg
It's weird the feminists scream about patriarchy and all that stuff but turn a blind eye to child rape that's got the express purpose of "making a man" out of the child that should be allowed to remain a child.
Probably to avoid being called racist, you see how they fail to address child marriage and such in developing countries in favor of things like sexist air conditioning here in the US
It's set that cold because men are expected to wear a suit coat and tie at work, you can wear a sweater they can't remove any more layers of clothing, if anything it's the dress code that's sexist but then you'd need to admit that sexism against men is possible.
Sorry that one has driven me crazy for nearly a decade.
I did say we got my dad home and he's catching up on his papers and all I think, if not he is and that's why this has taken 22 hours to get out, not enough time last night and busy all day.
Hopefully it was worth the wait

Ask Cerebro: an X-Men Cartomancy Spread!

LOL, it's been a while, hasn't it!
I feel like I should say "sorry for the recent lack of content" or something, but meh. There's plenty of content in the Grimoire, and if you don't see something you're looking for, I'm happy to chat with you via my inbox!
As a kid, I always loved the X-Men, and that hasn't changed, as any of y'all who follow this blog will note. I honestly wish I could use the X-Men canon and lore in my geekomancy practice more easily. I had all kinds of X-Men stuff when I was younger- everything from toys to collectible trading cards to poker decks! There was one poker deck in particular I loved so much, I tried to invent games to play with it. And, when I reacquired it a few years ago, I designed cartomancy spreads for it!
The thing is, I didn't post them (or at least I don't think I did) because I found out immediately afterwards that a cartomancer in the Bay Area named Storm Arcana was using the exact deck I used to design it, the one from my childhood, as a tarot deck, and I didn't want to jack his swagger. Since he's fuggin' awesome, y'all should go check out his website!
That being said! Last year I bought a deck of fan-made X-Men tarot cards! And therefore, the spread has come back to life, and I am sharing it!

(yay for shitty infographic!)
So, this method has three phases to it. Primarily, one would use it to consult on a subject of concern for the querent, something they would want to analyze.
To begin, we have a phase involving only the two cards in the center, which we call Mutatis Mutandis. This part is just used for analysis, it's not predictive yet. The first card read is beneath, and it represents the subject. The second card, laid on top to cross it, is that which alters the subject, the mutation to be experienced. This can be read on its own about literally any subject- a person, a situation, whatever you like.
If the result is something the querent is satisfied with, then the reading is over. If they wish further information though, we move into the next phase, called the X-Factors. This phase is for deeper analysis of the various factors associated with the change going on. Each is associated with two major influences in the X-Men continuity, based on which way the card is pointing.
On the top left, we have the Sinister, which is a warning. It lets one know what is most important to know in the situation. This card is associated with Emma Frost if it is looking out from the center, meaning that the subject may be able to benefit from interacting with what the card warns about, and if it points inward it's associated with (you guessed it) Mister Sinister, and it is something to be avoided entirely.
On the top right, we have the Inevitable, represented by Destiny and Apocalypse. This card represents that which cannot be changed, that which is going to happen. If it points outward, Destiny is helping you through this card. If it points inward, Apocalypse tests you and forces you to grow.
On the bottom right, we have the World, represented by Krakoa and Genosha. If it points outward, the world supports you as Krakoa supports all mutants. If it points inward, you are warned that the environmental factors are not in your favor, even if they look good from the outside (just like Genosha).
Finally, the bottom left card represents Homo Superior, represented by Professor X and Magneto. This card represents your own power and ability to influence the situation. If the card points outward, Magneto suggests that your actions are mighty, and you can shape things how you like. If it points inward, Charles Xavier suggests that you should keep your influence subtle and be cautious.
After these are read, you can draw cards from Cerebro, which is the arch of cards over the entire reading. However, you may only draw a number of cards equaling the numeric value of your significator. You will probably find it's best to read these cards in Mutatis Mutandis pairs, though any single card may be an answer. Aces equal 15 (or 14 if you're using a playing card deck). Unfortunately, the Magician as a significator only allows one card draw, and the Fool allows none, and them's the breaks. That in itself might be a message, though.
Once all cards are drawn, you should look for circuits, aka card combinations which have particularly significant meanings. Shared numeric values or suits, shared symbolism, and so on can suggest interesting strategies and may hint at hidden patterns to be used to the querent's benefit.
I hope you like the spread! Practicing geekomancers might be able to employ this for ritual magic as well as divination, of course. That's up to y'all though!
See y'all at the Green Lagoon, mutants!

Devil Summoner: Akechi Goro vs the Phantom Thieves
Canto III: Visiting Hours
Goro always wondered when he would finally go stark raving mad .
He had hoped that he would at least make Captain before his delicate mental state cracked like an egg in a tumble dryer; at least then he could hide his growing delusions and paranoia behind his subordinates until he could retire. But the Madness Fairy apparently decided to pay him an early visit in the form of his arch-nemesis crawling out of the walls and stringing him up with webs of shadowy tendrils. Insanity was, ironically, the most sane explanation for what he was experiencing; that, or he had to contend with the fact that everything he knew about the world was wrong (again).
"You seriously couldn't stay put for ten— Goro, stop moving— minutes? " Joker sighed, tightening the shadowy tendrils holding Goro's wrists to the wall. "I have watched demons break their necks on these things trying to get out of them."
“You broke their necks, dear,” Fox corrected.
“All the same, I— stop moving— don’t want there to be any necks snapped accidentally,” Joker grunted, bracing his arms around Goro’s chest and squeezing. “Hold… still , you stubborn little shit .”
"This is not happening," Goro muttered to himself, pointedly ignoring the Fox demon that descended the stairs. “Not happening…wake up wake up wake up .”
"I hear denial is an early stage of grief," Fox sighed. "I just hope we can get to acceptance before he pulls a muscle."
Not real; he's not speaking to me, Goro reminded himself, struggling against the psychosomatic shadow tentacles that definitely weren’t restraining him. He was not in a Metaverse bubble, demons couldn’t manifest without a bubble, therefore he was not being shaken down by Joker and his pet fox. This was just a regular, run-of-the-mill mental breakdown fueled by two hours of sleep, shitty billiards lounge food, six energy drinks, and eight bars of chocolate.
Nothing more, he promised himself; nothing more .
"Don't you know that being a detective means shutting your eyes to the obvious and stubbornly holding on to your version of the truth no matter what the evidence says?" Joker chuckled, craning his neck around to catch Goro's eye. Pinned against the wall, Joker's breath lapped against his neck, an oddly ticklish sensation that interrupted Goro's insistence that this wasn't real.
Maybe they opened a bubble on me when they killed the lights, Goro thought, trying to rationalize how Joker's hands gripping his shirt could be a figment of his imagination. It felt solid enough, but touch was a sense that could be fooled as easily as sight or smell. Once a demon was in your mind, it could make you experience anything .
"Sorry to drop in like this, but you have a nasty habit of not doing what I tell you to do," Joker clucked as Fox wordlessly opened Goro's jacket and fished his kuda holster out. "Unless you broke out because you want to help us-"
"Fuck off," Goro growled, not sure if he was trying to shake off a demon or banish a delusion of his own invention.
"You don't even know what we want," Fox clucked, spinning a kuda around on his finger and dodging Goro's foot as he lashed out wildly. "It might even be the same thing you want."
"I want you both to die violently ," Goro said. "Judging by the fact that you keep pissing me off, that seems to be your goal as well.”
"Nobody is dying here tonight," Joker said. "Not you, not us, not Yoshizawa, and especially not Prosecutor Niijima."

N P T Y!
thanks for the ask! i kinda went ham on the AU question lol
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
oof this is hard! the thing is. i'm an extremely fickle mistress, so i don't really have a 'main' fandom? also i think most of what i want from fandom is extremely generic (more gen fic, more femslash, more AUs with interesting worldbuilding, more rarepairs etc etc) and most of my specific comments are aimed more at the source material than at the fandom
(that said, if anyone writes political intrigue and/or the mundane stuff of nation building about the Kree/Skrull Alliance please please please link! there's so much story potential there..............)
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
okay so i LOVE most AUs, but my favorite are well-done roleswaps (by which i mean the characters' core personalities are intact, it's just that their circumstances have changed). I mean... i still lowkey think about the Persona 4 adult investigation team AU a friend and I talked about almost 10 years ago lol
(oh! speaking of the Persona franchise, i've always kind of wondered what would happen if P4 protag moved to Sumaru City after P4 and gets Jun Kashihara from Persona 2 as his homeroom teacher, and one way or another accidentally triggers a way for Nyarlathotep to return (most likely with P4 protag coming into contact with Tatsuya by chance through Jun)—after all, the theme of Persona 4 is to lift the fog of deceit, but not all truths should be remembered... though I guess this isn't really AU since it could theoretically happen as long as you handwave the mechanics about how personas/Nyarly and Philemon work)
my other pet AU is the Appmon Utena AU because narratives about roles and agency fascinate me! (appmon and utena endgame spoilers in linked posts)
as for something that I'm mostly making up right now........... uhhhh Loveless AU for Oda and Aoki from 2.43 Seiin High School Men's Volleyball Team, but only about the concept of Fighter-Sacrifice pairs and not... everything else (I have not read Loveless but it's got A Reputation)—mostly because i think it'd be so interesting if their pair name is "Selfless", seeing as Oda tends to think of himself as selfish in the novel, while Aoki's speech about "no need to thank me, I'm doing this because of ulterior motives" and his utter devotion to Oda's cause makes me kiiinda feral. (and from what little i understand about the general power dynamics of Fighters and Sacrifices, i think it makes sense for Oda to be the Sacrifice and Aoki the Fighter? idk)
i haven't thought of why they're marked, since they're meant to be Just Some Guys in 2.43 (i.e. not one of the star players on the team)
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
i'm not willing to die on this hill, but i have this entire elaborate headcanon about Euanthe from Counter/WEIGHT having a dead fiance and them being essentially an anti-stratus due to the programming language disconnect between the Divines and the Apostolisian mechs. both are just something i pulled completely out of my ass tho (note: Twilight Mirage is the last sci-fi season from friends at the table that i've completed)
as for something i'm slightly more willing to die defending: Yukiko and Chie from Persona 4 lived on takeout for like 4 months after they got their own place, before grudgingly learning how to cook at the Inaba community center (also Yosuke heckles them about it and sends shitty pics of his humble homemade dishes at ridiculous hours to taunt them about it—at least, that's how they interpret his gesture
and i mean. they aren't entirely wrong about that.)
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
oh boy most popular media is like that for me... i feel like ORV is one of these even though i did read some of it? (and i mean. i do plan on reading past ch 75 of ORV one of these days.) i've heard stuff about SVSSS (about a rarepair/side character) and the Owl House seems interesting from the general impression i get from my dash
I guess i also. learned about SPN on tumblr (and know more than I want to, even though in the grand scheme of things it's not much at all)
[ask prompts here!]

Geniunly warms my heart how well meaning they are... Like I do love the evil fucking characters I love when they're absolutely chaotic BUT she's so😭😭 she just cares for everyone and she's so human and NICE it's gonna kill me like this sounds stupid but I like that she recognizes their position in the world and is aware of all the shitty stuff but nonetheless she wants to show everyone how kind and beautiful the world / the people in it can be.
• least favorite thing about them
well I mean I could be here and list their flaws but that's really not true cause I don't hate those things I mean they make her, her. probably (and this isn't even something that is the characters fault lol) idk how everyone and even the writers glossed over the bullying they got in middle school?? Faggot being "male homosexual"-coded seems to come from the US. At least that's where I seen most of that arguing come from. But that's just a theory, a fag theory.
i feel like the biggest cultural divide between the us and the rest (particularly europe, that's where i have the most experience of being, by virtue of respawn point location) of the world is that it seems to me like the us pushes this notion of Demographic as a genetic, inborn, inherited, inherent trait- mostly, I think, from an effort to make black slaves seem Destined To Be that, and those native groups extinct (blood needing to be x% leading to every generation inherently having less natives as people naturally will marry outside of their demo from time to time, proven by how a bunch of 100% folks were marked as 50% to immediately affect rates when the damn thing was invented). meanwhile in europe, fucking "divine right of kings" and the whole nazi shit made us a fucktonne more wary of the way "inherent inborn etc traits" can easily be weaponised. obviously we have racism and shit, but it lacks a lot of that pseudo-science malarky about blood. same in terms of like- in the us, whether or not gay is "inborn" seems like some kind of battleline about its validity, here people are just on "disgusting. don't care why you're gay. die." it doesn't matter. like think about how much europeans hate europeans from literally across the road because there's a border there, and it's not like a lighthearted football rivalry, look at the english oppressing scot, welsh, irish, etc. cornish language is essentially dead, and it's an area of england now with no regard for individual heritage. your usamerican outlooks obviously sometimes leak over here, and i genuinely have no doubt some weirdo victorian dude in england contributed to its existence. but yee. what i'm saying is i think it probably is somewhat american to tie a word to a group and say there's some intrinsic inherent property of both that you're just Completely Unable To Understand if you're not that. but it's also totally false. the word faggot is not special, and being gay hasn't been proven to be inborn, and it doesn't fucking matter if it is. if you're gay, and you genuinely feel like it's something you gained somewhere in life, that's fine, it doesn't mean coversion therapy would work (i gained DID but electrocution wouldn't make it just disappear, nor should it) or should be done. it's stupid to give up ground (ie say "it has to be inborn, or that's okay") because then you're fucking yourself hard if we find out it *isn't* inborn, and it fucks over gay individuals who don't feel it was inborn for them. complete tangent, sorry. but yee, faggot is just a word, to be as thrown around and identified with and played with as you desire regardless of your gender or whatever. don't be a cunt to people obviously, don't follow them around yelling faggot, but don't do things like that yelling banana smoothie either, that's still shitty.
re
#our pseudo-science is less about biology and more sociology like that whole 'they import their violent culture' but like if you told these#dudes who push the shit that they were doing pseudo-sociology they'd be like no it's actually common sense n' protecting our values n' shit
