this site is so unlike anything else in all the best ways and they've tried for years to make it profitable but couldn't because a user-friendly and user-driven experience and profit simply cannot coexist but stagnating/dropping profits aren't an option in today's climate. that being said i highly doubt tumblr is going down it feels too unkillable but if it is im not going to instagram or twitter or mastofort or whatever i will simply walk into a forest and become moss. god bless
#pro tip you can massively lower server costs by getting rid of tumblr live‚ a feature noone wants and noone uses#literally just stop trying to become other sites and instead capitalise on being unlike any other site#in a world where every app is the same app owned by the same people tumblr is invaluable#but it's not profitable which is the only thing they care about#but like. I'm literally not moving anywhere else#not only coz tumblr in general is the best site but also bc my blog is really important to me#it's a record and archive of everything I've liked in the past 7 years meticulously catalogued#even if i went on another site. all that would just be gone. i cant have that#I'll be downloading my blog but that's just part of it yk#barking#tumblr

#ive written stories ever since i learnt TO write. i remember being no older than 6/7 writing pages and pages worth#of a story about my cat and the adventures he got up to with the fairies in our garden#in year 6 i won an award for writing in year 7 i got published in a poetry anthology#in year 8 my writing was such a massive part of me and my emotions that i swore off using my laptop#(which had been and still is what i use to write)#for 2 whole YEARS bc i convinced myself at that age that my mind was evil#and therefore my writing was evil. and i still have a lot of that shame w me ive talked about it a lot on here#but u know what? in those 2 years where i refused to open a document and write 'properly'#all that happened was i wrote on my phone in my notes app. even when i thought it was disgusting and forbidden and bad#i still couldn't help it. i kept it as a dirty secret even when i was convinced it would be genuinely physically damaging#and i cant even really say why. i just had to. and now im here a decade later. still writing#i cant really answer your question bc the response is too large too heavy too all-encompassing#writing is everything to me and it always has been. that includes every single bad thing but every good thing too#i hate it and love it and want it dead and need it to hold my hand and it will always be some sort of surgery#and it's just a silly hobby. do u get it#ask

The other day I ran into some guy and they asked me for """"my snap""""". I was walking alone as usual so I suppose I was an easy target. However my absentmindedness and carelessness knows no bounds. I'm not sure what exactly happened but I literally could not be bothered so I didn't slow down my pace, walked past as if they'd been talking to thin air and barely glanced at them. Eye contact is the bane of me anyway.
My point being, ignoring is arguably the best way to deal with annoyance. I think people like that thrive off of attention, while I had barely acknowledged their existence. It is one of the most powerful ways to deter people, and it literally takes nothing. My lack of a motivation to talk helps out quite a bit. Perks of my szpd, you become a master at ignoring to avoid people interaction.

I got one of those automated job offer emails that was made with AI and they even generated a "profile" for me based on information scraped from my various online accounts (I assume). It said I prefer locations outside of where I currently live and that I'm willing to relocate for the right opportunity.
I never said that. If anything, I only ever said the opposite of that. You tried, Word-Order-Machine, you tried.

can anyone help with installing the dxvk method onto my sims 3 game? i load the game, my settings are reset but the cache file isn't showing up in the bin so i don't think it's working, and i don't know what i'm doing wrong?

#i looked out my window after turning off the main light and saw what looked like one massive fucking star through the trees#but like. abnormally large. larger than any star in the northern hemisphere.#so i was like omfg wtf is that. and legitimately began to slowly panic thinking it was a massive fucking comet about to hit us in a matter#of minutes. and this shit was briiiiiiight and looked alarmingly near#i whipped out my stellarium app just to check and turns out it was just the moon. it's extremely cloudy out#so it was just part of the moon peeking through the trees between cloud smotherings#(there's nothing else i can see in the sky atm other than the light from the moon so yeah)#anyway it is just the moon. and if it isn't then it's in the same direction as that.#scared the fucking SHIT out of me omfg

Well... that's a huge downside for something to have, don't like that
#don't like it cause not only might it be harvesting data on me; but that also means it probably is real susceptible#to the manufacturer just deciding they don't support it anymore; specifically with software#and of course that not just meaning 'not support' but meaning 'we've bricked your working device'#like I get why people like it; the convenience of your whole life in the palm of your hand#but I don't trust like that#to me it's an unneeded massive point of failure that risks me not actually owning the physical thing I bought#this is about a density meter for like... figuring alcohol content in home brewing#and like... neat... but the moment they said 'it even connects to your smart phone' that's a massive red flag to me and I don't like that#takes it from 'if I ever start brewing maybe I should get that'#to '...man... I don't know that I trust them not to brick my shit with hostile software'#know nothing about the company; but that's how I feel about all app based shit#maybe just like... measure my shit for me and keep and internal log... oh; and a usb port and the ability to interface with standard OSs#that would be nice; like then I can rip the logs off your thing onto my computer#but nah... I don't want a phone involved unless I plug it in with a usb#I'd rather it be a little less convenient for me; but not use a wifi signal#cause then you can't fuck with it; no one can fuck with it; except me when I plug direct into it#...don't want my shit connecting to the internet; and that's the other problem with apps#they pretty much can't mean anything but an internet connection... cause how else does it talk to your phone?#if it's not my computer; frankly it should be dumb and totally offline with usb ports (or other HDMI whatever) for communicating#tv should be a dumb blackbox; oven should be a dumb blackbox; sadly even thermostats and shit should be a dumb blackbox#this shit makes life easier... till it doesn't; and if I don't have total control over it then someone else does#like... if I have a closed system smart home; that's one thing; but if I use a standard one that means anyone can access it#both in terms of random employees being caught peeping on me (and tos that say they're allowed to gather data on my sexuality and shit)#to the fact that if it hooks up to the internet and someone can connect to it... they just have to get past security and they're in#like my car shouldn't fucking be harvesting data on me; that tos example wasn't random; that's lifted from one of car companies tos#online is vulnerable; online is unsecured more often than not; it's a fucking risk that isn't worth it#it's like all those keyless cars getting stolen cause all they gotta do is catch your fob's signal and then spoof it#I want it dumb and connecting to nothing 95% of the time#sometimes I want it dumb and connecting only with a direct wire#I in theory might want it smart but on a closed home network I have complete control over

Ooh a hands-going-numb anxiety attack we haven’t done one of those in a minute
#was supposed to be going on a little office outing this evening#but there is a massive snowstorm approaching and it may or may not hit exactly when I need to be driving#and it’s a 50 mile drive#I almost died in 2019 driving in a snowstorm and the idea of getting in my car right now is making me shake#and this anxiety seems quite rational given how recklessly people in my area drive in inclement weather#so I think I’m backing out#in 2019 the snow wasn’t supposed to be that bad#and then I ended up stranded in the emergency room lobby for three hours after being discharged#because the snow was so bad that nobody would drive us anywhere#not Uber not Lyft not any cab service#we even called the non-emergency police line and they wouldn’t drive in it either#and this forecast is triggering me to an extreme degree#PTSD is so quirky and fun I love that my weather app is making me hyperventilate

I hate it here#it’s a massive battery drain & it doesn’t even do its job properly! I’ve found ways to get around it! it causes myriad other phone problems!#half of my ways around the parental controls are just “welp it stopped working. hope this lasts” tho#every night it removes all apps except default ones from my phone. every morning it spits them out completely disorganized on my screen.#doesn’t matter if I sort the apps into folders; I end up with pages and pages of unsorted apps by morning. it’s like psychological torture#oh and I can’t use my camera while apps are taken away! which actually helped my mom gaslight me whether she meant to or not#mossy’s musings#qustodio vpn
