This is my main blog now. Gonna try my best to be a minimally insufferable internet tumblr personality.

I call myself a wizard, my religion is ?????

This is a witch and magic blog. But one of the cool ones, I swear. I like frogs, and being a good person. I post kinda consistently, and I've been active a REALLY LONG TIME in tumblr years.

Doing my best not to be appropriative or exclusionary in any way, also painfully human (read as: can make mistakes and will happily correct them). I also try to spread awareness about cults, misinformation, and other relevant topics in the magic community.

I have chronic pain, and am learning to use mobility aids. Dislocated my hip trying to get outta the bathtub, and my knee WHILE SLEEPING. Physical therapy and compression wear are my friends. 🤣 (getting that diagnosis figured out, I hurt a lot, All the time. I have theories 🦓.)

I thought I met God once in a cemetery in December 2018, and It told me to leave an abusive marriage. I don't really know what that means because I don't understand what Higher Power is. I just hope and try to believe it's there. Due to this and my religious upbringing, I am known to trip and fall into cults, or to be singled out by cult recruiters (Hi. Yes, this has happened literally more than 7 times).

I was raised in arguably one of the biggest cults in the world - no, not scientology. So I sincerely believe the only way to find God or Upper Whatever is to figure it out yourself. I suspect everyone is probably wrong in some ways, right in others. Ergo, I'm painfully agnostic. Again, cults can sniff me out - if I'm getting weird, please check on me. I'm learning to catch myself.

I work with Change in the form of Death - or Death as Change - I'm not sure if that matters. I also work with Uni, the Cat God Of Self. Which. I made up. I made a blog about that, if you can find it. You will see that a lot here. I struggle to actually "worship" anything, probably due to religious trauma. Having a lack of Faith is hard for me.

I write spells, cultivate cool posts. I hardcore try to peer review, please don't hunt me for sport for reblogging a shitty blog. My header has all my DNIS. Just send me an ask and call me out - I'll be reasonable. I also share stories.

I like dinosaurs, vegetarian food (not exclusively), talking about glasses, writing, movies, goth culture, history, reading, art, plants, and dark humor. I write a lot in the bathtub. I live in an old house in the US. Hopefully I become locally famous too, so I can quit my job and freelance forever with my chronic pain problems. Or be a ghost tour guide as my real job.

I'm a story worm. Which is like a bookworm, but with all forms of stories, like movies and podcasts and personal anecdotes. Sometimes, I tell stories. I hope the stories have value for you. I've been enamored with the art of sharing stories my entire life.

My Cat is my pfp at the time of this posting. His name is Oswald Cheesecake. He looks like a wizard to me in that photo, in a brown cloak. But he' just in a paper bag. They are his favorite thing. There is a very good story behind his name, too.

B R O U G H T  T H E  J O Y . . .

Bit of a personal one, but we got to do a little Halloween festive trip out yesterday with the little Truly's. Something you're not always able to do when you have a child with extra needs, as events such as these can be a bit overwhelming for a multitude of reasons. So when we're able to attend ones that are specially catered for families like ours, it's always a special occasion - even if it does make you realise how unfit you are wrangling two kids 🤣 Also, keeping on brand, Baby Truly adored all the Halloween decor and was waving and saying hello to her minions the props.

Watched the new Goosebumps on Disney+ not expecting much, and I actually enjoyed it. Little Betty would have been all over this as a kid.

Also, watched my annual viewing of Practical Magic, which thanks to the wonders of the digital age I own to stream to my heart's content regardless of the season.

How I think the DK crew would use Twitter/X!! (PARTE 1)

The DK crew is the strawhats! These are just some random hcs I have while staying up pass my bedtime!

The type of guy to post the most random things known to man kind, whenever he thinks of something or do something, he’ll post just for funsies

Might forgot he had a Twitter/X account until someone talked abt it or remind him of it

His username would be something with food, being the future pirate king and his name! Like maybe @THEKINGOFTHEPIRATES

His pfp is a badly taken photo of himself or his bounty and the header is either food or his crew

Thinks KYS means Keep Yourself Safe (DO NOT LET HIM POST ANYTHING)

He follows every single person on his crew along with his friends and siblings!

His Twitter/X feat is full of food, anything related to pirates and bugs

Occasionally posts photos of himself with the crew, Sanji’s food, BUGS!!! All of them are blurry, badly taken and potentially meme material 😭

Did an ASMR video of him abt to chew on Nami’s precious shoes (he is dead)

Sometimes posts photos of his beautifully drawn pictures of crayons on papers (he did his best, I’m so proud of him)

So I'm reading the second half of the Undeserved ebook, and I noticed it jumps forward in time to when Damien and Merridy are already together, which confused me a bit until I realized that the part skipped over is Glass Shards, which is a whole separate book (and which I understand you actually wrote first!)

So my question is with stories that jump around in time, how do you decide what to include where, especially when making ebooks?

Glass Shards I wrote in 2016, way before I knew about, or would have been brave enough to call it whump. I was just a frustrated lil baby ace, whose best plan to get two chars to talk to each other was obviously to cut someone's arm off.

When I started writing Undeserved for a monthly prompt challenge, I had no idea it would become this... big. I just looked at the prompts, found they matched what I had of Damien's backstory so far, and wanted to give it a try. And then I couldn't stop! Almost all chapters of Undeserved/Fancy Boots have been written for some kind of prompt challenge, from monthly ones to bthb.

It's not usually how I'd write a book. There's too many povs, with some being super rare (Valadan). There's chapters written twice, in different povs. There's all this unnecessary torture 😆 But eh, I decided to wrap it all up without removing anything. Like, now it existed, and someone might like it, right?

As ebook only, I would probably have kept it separate; Undeserved and "Fancy Boots" have both around 45k words, which is a nice novella length, and I do consider them the prequel and sequel to GS. But I also wanted to print them, and that means cover, back and front, fonts, blurb, chapter headers. And - no. Didn't wanna do that twice, so I put them together, and I couldn't be bothered to do the ebook differently, especially since I also offer a PDF.

Quite honestly, putting them up like that for free (it's not free for me! :) surprisingly internet things cost money!) is thankless already. In making it convenient to read, I do not have a platform to get likes, comments or even a fucking view counter, so all I can do is make it for myself.

For me it made the most sense, due to recurring characters, style and the red line of the rebels flashbacks, so I did what I wanted. Same reason I put the sunrise interlude in - because I wanted to :p Were this a published book, I'd mark it more clearly inside the book as prequel and sequel to another, but pretty much the only place to even find them is my blog.

Because it was already written (though in German), the Glass Shards outline was decided from the moment I started putting it up in English. Over the year of writing it, I did a bunch of prompt fills and stuff for additional short pieces, most of which sadly won't make it in. Again, there isn't much to decide there, they were never part of the outline, and while i might be stubborn enough to replace one of the unspecified nightmares with Heartless, I'm quite happy with the pacing of GS.

In that scope, it's unlikely it will ever happen again. Thorns and Jasmine and Twisted Thorns have some overlap, but I mostly consider the Tumblr stuff self-written fanfic 🤣 I would need a hell of a downtime to even think about putting it in epub format.

Everything else currently written or planned is self-sufficient. There's always a chance I'll write a bonus chapter or two that will remain Tumblr-only, but I am quite done with challenges for now.

so like five years ago or something, (ugh, time), I started an epistolary fic for @pameluke that I have not updated in, well, several years. (brains! little fuckers are very uncooperative, what can I say?)

It subsequently became the most popular thing I've ever written by several of AO3's potential metrics, which is neat! But... pressure-ish? Regardless, it would be nice to actually, uh. Finish the damn thing someday.

And in the interests of getting the voices in my head to engage with it so I can finish, I am attempting to adapt some public workskins on ao3 into email & texting screens and I will (hopefully) be updating said fic with fun formatting whenever I do actually finish & post the last couple chapters.

I have a visual/clarity question re: texts and group chats

Now, the reason it says "Cat" on top, is because that's the contact name in the header of the phone screen, which currently looks like this:

Now, in the original draft Cat didn't say "Magnus" there, because his name was there in the label so I didn't need it. BUT, this is the first phone screen in the fic, so I figured I should include it for clarity.

Contextually, as the fic continues, I assume one will generally be able to tell who is texting whom, but I could, (even tho it would not be as phone-like) put in names so it's clearer:

But it looks kind of weird when it's just two people talking back and forth. (It's not like my phone puts my name over my own texts, yk?)

Not having all the names might be confusing, but I CANNOT TELL ANYMORE? aesthetic vs clarity? SOMETHINGSOEMTHING?

The only real downside to just putting the names in is that it causes some weird spacing in the download/non-skin version, because the name tags are no longer visible but there is, afaik, no way to fit them in properly without leaving the space for them, if that makes sense:

ALTERNATIVELY, I could change the headers so they're informational rather than a visual part of the phone screen, for example, the first text up there would be something like "Magnus' Phone (texting Cat)" and then the group chats would be, idk, "Alec's Phone, The Hedge" etc. etc.

OR ALTERNATIVELY ALTERNATIVELY... I could do... something else that I haven't thought up yet? I guess? *shrug.emoji*

HELP ME TUMBLR, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE:

Like, sometimes the nametag on the right of the phone screen doesn't work and I haven't figured out why yet. I am having a similar problem with the phone screen headers not resizing on different screens, which is why they're not a contrasting color or bordered or anything at the moment, so you can't tell.

/It's still wrong though, and I know it, even if I can't see it. It's like my phone screen is judging me every time I look at them... 🤣🤣🤣

hmmm, depends on how bored i am! i often check it throughout the day, though i may not be actively posting/answering asks, because i have a job lol. but when i'm really busy (hanging out with family or friends or with life in general) i may not log in at all. that's why i like to keep a queue running.

i tend to keep to myself because i don't like drama and like to protect my peace lol. there's enough ridiculousness to deal with irl, so i like to keep my space a fun place to be! i don't entertain immaturity and stupidity, but i also won't allow people to walk all over me. so if you've seen me pop off at someone, trust that there was a reason why 💅🏾

i have no idea who the youths are following nowadays 🤣 i told you, i tend to keep to myself! and being "tumblr famous" means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things--as i mentioned before, it's the connections you make with people that really matter! and i can say this, as someone who has written for both large and small fandoms. honestly, if you're that focused on a follower count, you really need to stop and reevaluate.

Well I adore Obi-Wan, and it's a pun on his name. My sister actually came up with it or saw it somewhere and I ran with it lol

Three sideblogs, the first one is just like it's url @quotesofstarwars, then I made one purely for cody and one purely for ahsoka @glorious-commander-cody and @a-snippy-tano

1. Why did you choose your url?

Mostly just wanted a change of pace from my old one! (Also my biological & abusive father was stalking my old url so.) But basically uhhhh i love wandering around in the middle of nowhere like a lost child and also corvids <3

…I wanna say 2017??? Is when I made my first account? I abandoned it after a couple of months and never picked it up again (it was a kin blog, surprising probably no one) and I made this one in,,, March 2018 according to the archive. So when I was about 16.

And I didn’t respond to any of those tags because by the time I got to here (the responding part), I forgot most of it - you have no idea how much time I spend rereading what people send me to make sure I’m replying to them and not just waffling 😅

Oh 100% Jimin has been selfish. But in his defence, yn was the one who was telling him it was fine because it was all fake to begin with (obviously we the readers know that’s a fat load of lies, but that’s what she genuinely believes). The whole thing got escalated when Hye-Jin stayed pushing the agenda that yn was cheating and that started the rift between yn and Yoongi because, even though yn told him she wasn’t talking to hye-jin, she didn’t tell him why (because she’s a terrible liar). She just said they had an argument and she didn’t want to talk about it and Yoongi, being the lovely human being he is, respected her wishes. So he had no idea until hye-Jin invited him along that something was up and yn started acting all suss (hye-Jin wouldn’t have just said it to Yoongi like that. She’s mad at yn, but at the end of the day they are still friends. She just didn’t agree with the ‘cheating’ so she’s giving yn a chance to tell him herself or get caught In the act). Then Jimin turned up and they disappeared and he starts putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 9, if you know what I mean.

It’s basically a giant mess and exactly what I love lol.

Okay, as for the other things

1) I like Taylor’s music. Haven’t listened to her latest album yet. I don’t know why you would fear Thursdays though? Does she release stuff on Thursdays?

2) I alway said I never procrastinated, but fuck yeah I did. But I got really good at playing myself by making sure I did a little bit every day, or filling up my schedule to the point where procrastinating was not an option anymore (like I volunteered a lot of time for this sci-fi movie festival in my 2nd and 3rd year as it was slap bang in the middle of my deadlines so I was forced to make sure all my worm was done or nearly done. I know that’s not great advice right now with covid, but nothing makes you panic more than having no time 🤣). But essays were always an easy one to do because you have the planning stage - highlight the important part of the essay question - what exactly are you answering? Then find books or journals on the topic and any time you find a quote, note down the bibliography, page number and the reason why you made a note of it (like if it’s for or against something or however it relates to the question) and repeat until you have enough sources (fill out those bibliographies yo). Then you organise your essay sections with headers and write a quick summary of what you want to say with quotes (easiest way is point-quote-explanation) and once your done you have the bare bones of an essay and then you just fill. Hardest parts are always intro and conclusions which I cannot help with as mine always sucked (no seriously, my lecturer always put question marks against it and was like ‘what are you talking about?!?’ Lol)

Also, you probably weren’t asking for essay help. I just miss writing essays 😭

3) oh shit it’s Ramadan?!? I didn’t know that! I’m trying to remember why you fast for it, but we only learnt about it once in like year 3 and then everything was about Christianity (because of course it was, god damn British education system). It’s for 30 days right? What’s the appropriate sentiment to send - good luck? That feels weird, even to me but I’m sending you happy thoughts!

4) I’ve never actually read wuthering heights, but I’ve only ever heard bad things about the characters. Tbh it’s not one I’ve ever felt the need to read, but if you really want to get pissed off at a main character then I recommend Brooklyn by Colm Toibin because the MC in that is... 😬
