FanFiction Writers' Appreciation Day Bind #1:

On the River Someday, by @redminibike1 !

This fic is a lovely, angsty cowboy AU that I was very happy to be able to bind and send to red!

He moved to push himself up, panting with the effort, pushing past the scream of his shoulder and the exhausted shaking of his good arm. But a hand pressed flat against his chest, another on the back of his head, and pushed him gently to lay back down. “You need to move slow,” the voice said, “or your stitches will open.”

Or: While travelling with his brothers, Cody and his brothers run into trouble, and meet a sharp-eyed lawman. Plans go awry, a river diverges.

I could not help but return to a variation of the layered river cover for this fic! I wanted a river winding it's way lazily through the frontier type of vibe. Also the title font is aptly called "Bleeding Cowboys" which I got a giggle from.

For the typeset I went for a double page spread (dramatic fonts demand dramatic spreads), and chapter pages I included the byline at the top and aimed to keep it clean.

I was lucky to be able to include this beautiful art piece for the fic done by @treescantjump. This was my first color print included in a fic!

Also this golden amber Colibri bookcloth strikes me as the same satiny sheen of a well groomed bucksin horse.

I chose gold-speckled edges to finish, which I think matches these gold & white endpapers.

here are my suggestions :) as always, additions are welcome, if anyone has any, especially because I might have interpreted cowboy AU a bit laxly, depending on what you're looking for

on the river someday by Redminibike1 (@redminibike1) [locked for logged in users] - 20k long, rated M. In this AU, Cody has to leave his home with his little brothers, and thet run into Obi-Wan, the sheriff of a small town. I wholeheartedly rec this fic, it's beautifully written.

mid-autumn, post-script by cafffine (@cafffine) - a 16k long modern AU, rated T. It's more of a small town setting than western, but Cody is a mule packer. It's also an epistolary (mostly via letters from Cody to Rex), and overall it's just really funny and heartwarming.

Is that another whispered plan? by vhetin [locked for users] - 16k long, rated T, and they're both cowboys. Obi-Wan comes to work with Cody's team, and they quickly realize that there's a spark. So. Much. Flirting. It's a great read, the author did some research and it shows

Still No Rest by t4tlambert (@t4tlambert) - 5k long one shot, they're both cowboys, and it's very sweet apart from some angsty flashbacks. Usual idiots in love dynamic, haha

In honour of The Mandalorian season 3 coming out, I decided to do a redraw from a piece I did a year ago (march 5th)!

It is so jarring seeing both the drawings side by side, the old one really was the beginning of my journey of drawing old men ahahah and you can really see how far I’ve come in a year!! Not only the face, but also my way of doing lineart, and the colouring too!!

It really makes me proud of myself for giving myself the space and time to learn 😌

Also I am still hoping we get to see at least one (1) keldabe kiss from them, do it Filoni don’t be a coward 👀

I did my very best but unfortunately it seems like I am less than persistent with my bookmarks (thanks adhd brain) and I have in fact not bookmarked all of them *smiles through the pain*

I know there's one specific one missing that's set after or between battles and Cody has never had natborn food before or maybe a specific kind from the planet they're on at the moment and Obi-Wan returns to their shared tent with takeout boxes.... Can't find it though:/

Currently reading: I'm 2 or 3 chapters into False Dichotomy. Force sensitive Cody + engaging narrative voice + body horror = I'm hooked! I plan to get To Kill a Mockingbird from the library soon because I'm going to be ushering at the play in March and I want to know the story beforehand.

Last song I listened to: "Dinle," sent to me by an Iranian guy I met in an English language discord. I usually only listen to English language music, so it's fun to hear other styles!

Last movie I watched: The Godfather. The local orchestra was doing the thing where they play the movie score while showing the movie. So good.

Last series I watched: Currently watching Badehotellet, season 9 and All Creatures Great and Small, season 3. Still meaning to watch Andor because I KNOW I will like it.

Currently Watching: Silo and it's awesome!!!

My brother convinced me to try the show. I usually never watch an adaptation of a book without having read the book first, but in this case, I tried but couldn't get into it. And the show do it justice (of the 35% I have force-read).

Currently Reading: fanfics. Not gonna lie.

I'm currently jumping in between GoT and Dune fics, at the moment. I left those fandoms alone for 12 years or so to cook and look at that! New amazing fics! (And sadly, amazing retired ones. Such is fandom life.)

Current Obssession: Taking every single chance to bask in the heat and the sun before summer truly leave us. Must have been a lizard in a past life. Summer, my beloved.
