The Museum of All Things You

I visited the museum of all things you, and even the air smelled like you had just been there. The walls ricocheted murmurs of your name—and they seemed all too familiar—as if they had been imitating the way I mumbled your name in my sleep. I vandalised the museum by scribbling ‘I love you’s across every picture, every thing. Every you. Like a child, I picked up a memory of you grinning at me (I must have cracked a bad joke) and I kissed your open mouth with a tender fondness I never knew I possessed. I kissed memory after memory, not as a goodbye, but as a hello after years. The memories needed upkeep; some needed polishing; but none of them discarded. For when they asked me to lock up your memories, did they really expect me to throw away the key?
