TL;DR - WE ARE *NOT* DOING THIS.

A few hours after I posted this, a woman named Avery (I don't remember her blog) reblogged it, talking about how this wasn't a good idea. I reached out to her, and she said that, in her experience, this sort of thing does not work and will result in TERF/radfem posts being shown to Tumblr followers if those tags are used.

I really, really hate that there isn't a direct way of getting rid of the massive TERF problem on this site, and that staff don't respond to transphobic posts being reported for harassment. So far, at best, it seems to come back to blocking transphobes and filtering out their tags - or, as Avery put it, "lack of engagement is poison in [modern Internet]" (or something like that).

I am going to save this version of the post, and tag everyone who was going to do the tag flood, to alert them not to do this. And to all of the people in the reblogs who said that this was a bad idea, thank you for cutting it down before anything happened.

Reblogs will be turned off tomorrow, so that people have a chance to delete their posts or to see this update if they need to. I am NOT going to delete this post, so that no one repeats this mistake. The original post will be under the cut.

It’s a low blow. Especially when he’s changed so much. Been the sole provider for Chris when she was gone. 

Eddie should probably tell her off right now, but instead he just giver her an icy glare. Which is worse. Somehow, it’s worse. 

“Let’s just go,” he says. Frigid. 

She might not have been the source of his bad mood now. But she’s confident she just bumped herself high up on the list.

In the car, she tries to apologize. Even though, really, the feeling part of her brain is much more set in her irritation than the thinking part.

“I shouldn’t have said that,” she admits. “It wasn’t fair.”

“No,” Eddie agrees. “It wasn’t.”

Um, well… He’s not supposed to just agree. He’s supposed to also apologize for being cold and moody. 

“It’s just…” Shannon says, hit with a wave of emotion. “Your literal only job at these things is to be excited and positive and tell me it’s going to be okay and that she’ll fit through my birth canal!” 

Eddie makes a pained little noise in his throat. 

“I’m sorry,” he says through gritted teeth. “I am excited. I’m sure the birth will go just fine. I’m just not in a great headspace today, Shannon.”

She should probably let it rest at that. 

Does she? No. 

“It freaks me out when you get like this!” She complains.

“Get like what?” Eddie demands. “I can’t have one bad day without freaking you out? I haven’t done anything, Shannon.”

Does he even know how he’s acting? Like, can he see it? Or is she being entirely overly sensitive? This is completely how he used to be when he’d come home from overseas and he’d shut her out and they’d fight… And… And she just can’t fucking live like that again. But maybe he doesn’t even realize? Maybe she’s overreacting? She needs to test it. 

“Why are you having a bad day?” She asks. 

“What?” Eddie replies. 

“You said you’re just having one bad day! Why are you having a bad day?” 

Eddie groans. If he wasn’t driving, he’d probably make some annoyed little gesture. Pinching his nose or running a hand through his hair. Pointing at something. He likes to point. Like a keyed up hunting dog.

“There was arbitration today,” Eddie admits. 

“Arbitration…” Shannon repeats. “For Buck?”

Eddie nods mutely.

“Oh,” Shannon whispers. So it’s not about her. Or the baby. Or anything but… Well, no. It’s still about family. Still about someone Eddie loves. Loves more than he will say.

Shannon hadn’t known about arbitration. Maddie’s being weird. Buck is avoiding her. Eddie is the personification of a storm cloud. Why would she have known?

“How’d it go?” She asks. 

“Does it seem like it went well?” Eddie fires back.

Shannon glares at him. Bastard. 

“Sorry,” he mumbles. “It fucking sucked, okay?”

“What happened?” She asks. 

He huffs. “He’s… I… I mean, they made me answer questions. Buck… He… He took it too far, Shannon. He crossed a line. Brought up personal shit of Bobby’s… He… I’m furious with him.”

“Okay,” Shannon says. 

They pull into her apartment parking lot. Eddie parks the truck and kills the ignition. Neither of them moves. 

“To me,” Shannon says cautiously. “It sounded like he had sort of a point? I mean, I don’t know any medical stuff, but… I heard about the rebar?”

Eddie scoffs. “It’s not the same thing, Shan. He could bleed out. He could get knocked into something and bleed internally. He could die, easily.”

Shannon’s stomach twists. “Okay. Okay, you’re saying, in your experience, having seen terrible things happen to human bodies, he shouldn’t be working?”

Another heavy sigh. “I don’t know, Shannon. He’s fine, but let’s say… Let’s say the same thing as before happened. He gets pinned by a fire engine. On these meds? He’s dead.”

Shannon nods. “Right.”

“And either way, he’s… He’s being an idiot! They won’t let him back to the station where he sued the captain.” 

That’s… That’s probably true. Even Shannon can see that. But Buck can’t. He thinks he’s getting his job back. 

“Okay,” Shannon says. “Alright. Ignore for a second that he’s probably wrong about all of this-”

“How?” Eddie demands. 

“Just walk with me,” she insists. 

Eddie clenches his jaw. 

“Why are you mad at him, Eddie?” Shannon asks. 

“Are you kidding?” Eddie asks.

“No,” Shannon says. “I’m not kidding.”

“Were you not listening to everything I just said?”

“I was,” Shannon nods. “And, okay. He’s being stupid and he’s wrong. Got it. Why are you mad at him?”

Eddie’s eyes get a little wet.

“Shannon…”

“Let’s talk it through, right?” Shannon says. “He’s suing your captain and your employer, not you. He’s your friend, even if you don’t work together. Why is this so personally upsetting, Eddie?” 

He’s silent for a while. Longer than Shannon would expect. Like he’s really processing her question. Has he not bothered to ask himself this question? Or was everything that has happened with Buck’s lawsuit just been another thing he tried to swallow without chewing? 

“I don’t understand why he’s doing this to us,” Eddie whispers finally. 

“Who? The 118?” Shannon asks. 

Eddie shakes his head. “Me and him.”

Oh.

“What do you mean?” She asks. 

She thinks she knows, but she also thinks he should just… Say it. Try saying it. It helped her once. She’d never said out loud why she wouldn’t come home to him and Chris. And when she did, she could face it. 

“Buck…” He starts, then he trails off. He wipes his eyes. “This is so dumb.”

“It’s not dumb, Eddie,” she argues. “You obviously need to talk about it.”

He inhales deeply. Long-suffering. 

“It’s like he’s choosing this idea of the job - one that he could have had if he just waited and now won’t get - over us,” Eddie says. “Over… Our friendship.” 

“Honestly? I don’t think he’s thinking about you,” Shannon says. “Not to be a dick… Just… I’m not sure he factored your reaction into his choice.”

a/n: hi 💐!! i'm sorry it took me some time to fill this request. but now it's done! i'm not sure how i feel about it, honestly. but i think i like it? i'm honestly not the biggest fan of the beach, but anyways! owen and mel are in this, by the way! . i hope you like it! <33

you were on the balcony, enjoying the sun on your face when the door of your apartment opened. you heard keys being put down and footsteps coming your way.

you felt her lips against the side of your neck and her arms wrapping around you. “good morning, sweet girl.” you smiled and turned around to look into her eyes. “good morning to you too, my love.” you kissed her lips.

abby woke up before you that day. she had promised mel to help her build her kid’s new bed. “how’s mel?” you asked.

“she’s good, her belly is the size of a watermelon now... also, owen is really bad at building furniture.” she chuckled.

“oh, by the way”, abby said, taking your hands into hers. “they asked if we wanted to go to the beach with them this afternoon? it’s really warm and sunny... what do you think?” you tried to force a smile. “i don’t really feel like going but – you can go without me.”

abby noticed something was bothering you, and she knew what it was. she squeezed your hands. “hey, i promise it’ll go well. they won’t even notice.” she said softly. you shook your head. “i know. but what if they do? what if they judge me for it? plus, i don’t think i’ll feel comfortable in a swimsuit, abs. i’m sorry.” you looked down at your arms.

she kissed your forehead and held you tightly before bringing you back inside. she led you to your bedroom and started looking through your shared closet. “what are you doing?” you asked, sitting on the bed. “trying to find you something that could help you feel comfortable.”

she searched for a few minutes before putting down her finds on the bed. “i found some of my old swim shorts, you could wear them. i also found you a veil. you could wear it to hide your arms, if you feel uncomfortable.”

you smiled. “thank you, abby.” she leaned down to kiss you. “they won’t judge you. i promise. all they want is for all of us to have a good time. and if you feel really uncomfortable, i could pack one of your sweatshirts in our bag. okay?” you nodded and left a peck on her lips. “i love you.” you whispered, making her smile.

mel and owen were already there. owen was putting sunscreen on mel’s back. “hey, guys!” abby said as you arrived at their level. “bob the builder’s in the house!” mel joked. you smiled and hugged mel and owen.

you sat on your towel, in your swimsuit and abby’s shorts, her sitting behind you in her bikini top and shorts. you held the veil on your shoulders, abby leaving small kisses against the fabric. “you guys are adorable...” you looked at mel and thanked her. “you’re really lucky to have abby at home... owen can’t build shit.” mel tried to say quietly. owen turned around, offended. “hey! i built a baby inside you, ma’am.” you all laughed.

a few minutes later, you were all in the water. abby kept looking at you to make sure you were feeling alright – you left the veil on your towel. “don’t worry, baby. i’m okay.” you whispered into her ear. she nodded and kissed you. “good.”

owen threw water to abby which then ended into a water fight between the two of them.

abby came to you and picked you up as you yelled for her to put you down. she walked out of the water and put you down on your towel. you looked at her. her braid was barely hanging on, water dripping down her neck and shoulders, falling on your body. some drops found their way on her chest. “what’re you looking at, beautiful?” you blushed and looked up, your eyes falling on her lips. she smiled and kissed you softly. “do my lips taste salty?” she asked you, smiling. you nodded and kissed her back, biting her bottom lip.

“get a room, you two!” owen joked behind, making you pull away from your girlfriend. “shut up.” abby said standing up.

the afternoon was coming to an end. you had spent the last hour under the sun next to mel. abby was busy reading a book and owen probably fell asleep.

abby promised mel to come by the next week to build a changing table. mel also said that you could come as well for lunch. the couple thanked you for this nice afternoon and you all parted ways.

Hades is an indie roguelite game released a couple years ago! and literally I cannot find a single bad thing to say about this game im being serious rn. The storyline? Fucks. The music? Fucks. The art? Fucks. The characters? I need to fuck everyone so bad. The gameplay? I've never been more addicted to dying. and this game is fully voice acted like WHAT?????

In the game you play as Zagreus, son of Hades, and youre trying to escape from your house because you hate your dad and also to find your mom. but theres also tons of other characters with their own sub-plotlines AND there's a dating mechanic. there's honestly so much goddang content and the writing + voice-acting is totally solid!!

i'm not much of a Gamer™ myself and im usually pretty shit (or mediocre at BEST) in action-heavy games, but even i found hades to be super enjoyable :oo it did took some getting used to in the beginning, but after getting the hang of it and because of the game's natural progression it does get significantly easier. I think the game is really well-balanced, and no matter what weapon or boon you use its still really fun.

if i remember correctly back when the trailer dropped it caused quite a stir on twitter/tumblr because it looked so good. And guess what!! they're making HADES 2 BABEY!!! but that comes out in early access next year i think.

It's funny because like, as the dude writing all of this, I still don't really have tangible plans for the relationships of my characters. I just love writing scenes with them and playing around with how who would react with who and usually I'll find some crazy synergy that makes me go "wait....I may be cooking"

I just be writing them all getting closer and closer because that's the expected outcome of constantly hanging out with someone you click with :)

It's a little bit like real life, where sometimes you spend so much time with someone that the lines between Friend and Partner blur to where they're eventually one and the same - and you have no idea when it became "official".

RATC is, at its core, a story about finding love and comfort in a world that hates you - through the wonderful people you meet and connect with.

The characters of RATC love each other. And whether that love is platonic, or romantic, or a mix of both because people are complicated, doesn't change the fact that it's all love.

It's like how Rezek itself said that there are too many amazing beings in the world to only spend your time with one.

Being a streamer has many perks.

You get to play games for a living, get paid by strangers, run events for charity, and never have to leave your home to socialize or deal with people in public. But there are some unexpected drawbacks from being a streamer. Getting doxxed, being messaged by needy creeps, and getting rather...unflattering fanart was part of the gig.

However, there was also just the reality that your camera captured more than just you sometimes. One day while you were streaming, you had forgotten to lock the door to your room as you usually do. A practice that became normal after you started getting regular visits from your beloved Nevadeans.

Today, Deimos just decided to randomly come into your room while you were live. You, being focused on the game you were playing, didn't take notice of the door to your streaming room opening and revealing the humanoid Deimos to the chat.

It took a text-to-speech bit alert to let you know that someone was in your room. Upon turning around and seeing Deimos, you nearly choked on your spit in shock.

The mercenary wasted no time hurrying over and getting into your business. Giving the cam a great shot of him looking at your screen and set up.

The chat starts going wild as you internally freak out.

"Hey, what's up with this gig? Is this how you've been seeing us--"

"SHH!! D, why are you here?!"

You hurriedly whisper as you try to push the merc back away from your cam with little success. The moment he spoke, the chat was flooded with surprise and heart emojis.

"OH! This is that 'Chat' you keep mentioning! What's up, chat!!" Deimos would happily respond to a flood of pog emojis and hearts. "Look, they all know my name! Isn't that cute?"

"DEI." You say sternly, finally getting the impulsive merc to look at you.

Completely unaware that Sanford had also entered the room and was currently standing over your left shoulder, in contrast to Deimos standing on your right. The chat took notice of him quickly and also started freaking out about Sanford.

One comment about Sanford and you turn around to look at the new arrival with wide eyes.

"Sanford! Look! This is Player's "chat" and they LOVE me!" Deimos gloats as Sanford looks at the screen as the Player hunches down and nervously flicks their gaze from the two men in the room to the computer and back again.

The chat goes nuts again with pogs and heart emojis with many of the chatters screaming in all caps for Sanford to flex. Sanford can't help the smile that creeps on his face as he watches, what appears to be numerous fans, BEG him to flex his muscles.

To which, Sanford obliges and it causes the chat to go full rabid.

"Hey! I can flex too!!" Deimos chimes in as he also starts flexing, fueling the thirst of the chat by a major amount.

Poor Player can only cover their face in the corner of the camera in exasperation as the two grunts-turned-human flex and show off in their cam to excite their audience. Each one soaking up the compliments thrown at them like sponges.

"OKAY, OKAY! TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK!!" You loudly shout before pressing a series of buttons, muting your mic, throwing up the 'technical difficulties: please hold' intermission, and closing the cover on your camera.

Then you turn to the two mercenaries in the room.

"What are you two doing?!? How am I going to explain this to the chat?? There's now going to be so many rumors that I live or know the live action cast for Madness Combat! When you aren't even the same people! This is WHY I tell you again and again to stay out of the streaming room when I'm live!"

You scold the two like children as you flick your gaze to the screen, seeing how upset chat had gotten after you booted them to the issue intermission.

"Oh...we're sorry, Player. I probably should've grabbed Deimos and pulled him out of the room when I had the chance." Sanford regretfully states, looking down in an ashamed manner.

"I'm not sorry. Did you SEE how my voice could make so many people melt? I got so many heart emojis! They love me~"

Deimos is then promptly whacked on the head by his taller partner as the two get into a slight argument.

You can only sigh and shake your head and pinch your nose.

How were you going to explain this one...?

i actually used to talk a lot about how i use ... counting? too much. like. "one, two, three." or "one beat. two. three." etc. idk if anyone else notices that! but i've always been really aware of it lmao whenever i spot myself using it i'm like oh here we go. pov character can count. what an achievement

more recently, i cannot shut up about the sun lmfao? (side effect of kevin day) i use the word "maybe" a lot, but like. at the end of sentences. (also AHAHA the start of this answer is a joke for this question LMFAO like i use that to the extent that one time rae tweeted smth abt loving when authors go "it goes like this" and i was like omg ... i did that ... and she was like jane i was trying to be subtle but this was about your bktd fic KHJSFDHJGAHJK)

I’m a very beginner embroiderer like I’ve done some premade kits and stuff so I just gotta learn the stitches and follow the lines. It’s so fun and stressful at the same time I genuinely have a love hate relationship with it at times. But I love how I can get a project at the end and feel proud that I was able to make that. Leaning into the grandma hobbies is jsut a fun thing to do in general

Anyway I’d love to get more comfortable to the point where I can just freestyle patterns and add cute details to my clothes and totes. I’d love to randomly add some flowers or my initial to bf’s items before he leaves for a race without telling him. He finds it a few days later is so surprised and curious as to why I did it, all I can think of is “as a token of my support/so you miss me less” 😭😭😭 how do I think up these cheesy ass thoughts

🦈 What is the character you have the hardest time writing?

Siiiiigh it's Levi. I'm much better with him now than I used to be, but I really struggled with him for a long time. His anxiety really reminded me of myself irl, so I had a hard time separating the anxiety of his character from my own. And this was an issue for me because it messed with my characterization of him.

I also struggle with Mammon sometimes. This is because I think the fandom's version of him and the canon version of him are different. So my brain is always flip flopping between them when doing his characterization. And I was so worried about writing him OOC that I would just kinda... not write for him much at all? But then I kinda reconciled it by deciding I was going to write my version of him and just own it! LOL.

💛 What's an impactful lesson you've learned about writing?

Ohh an interesting question! I would say the understanding that there is no "right" way to write a story. You get to decide what works for you. Even if a lot of other writers swear by doing this one thing, you only need to do it if it actually helps you. Otherwise, chuck it!

Specifically to fandom things, though, I would also add that having fun is the most important thing. How other people react to your writing is not an indication of how good it is. Things like how active a fandom is, how popular a ship is (if you're writing a ship), how many people are looking for this specific genre (e.g. fluff, angst, etc), all of that is going to impact how people react to what you wrote. You might have written the most exquisite novel length fic ever, but if it's about something not a lot of people are interested in, you might get only a handful of comments/reblogs/likes etc.

So the important thing to focus on for fanfic is how you feel about writing it. Write things you enjoy, write for yourself. You're spending a lot of time and effort and energy on that story. Make sure it's one that you're proud of, no matter how people respond to it.

I'm writing Arsenios's story and it's been such an amazing experience. I absolutely love it and I'm throwing my whole heart & soul into it. But OC stuff rarely has the same engagement as canon. So when I finally start posting it, I won't be surprised if it doesn't do very well, especially compared to some of my other stuff.

But the thing is, it won't matter. I'm writing that story because I love it, because it's fun, because it makes me happy. So how well it does or doesn't do won't impact the experience I got out of writing it.

OOF sorry to ramble so much, but I hope that makes some sense! I just think people get too hung up on numbers and things (myself included lol) when really that's not the thing that matters most!

Ahaha but I could write about writing all day... I guess it's my special interest. :)
