No. I’ll be cleaning up the place. It is my duty to keep Yumenosaki Academy clean and pure.

Rei: Hm. The Student Council has certainly made hefty contributions in returning order to the pandemonium-like Yumenosaki Academy.

As one of the "Five Oddballs", who wreaked havoc in the school, I acknowledge that fact.

But history will repeat itself – over and over. I’m essentially the school’s walking encyclopedia, so I’m certain of it.

Now, it’s time for you to be hunted down – to be disposed of like garbage ♪

Keito: Is this your revenge… Sakuma-san?

Rei: Oh, no. The members of the "Five Oddballs" have been reduced to mere remnants – we’re now the "Three Oddballs".

It’s no longer my era. I cannot stay here and show the ugliness of old age forever.

I simply came to remove the vestiges swirling in the dark night before a new morning sun shines through the clouds.

Rei: Then, how about we divide the stage depending on the number of people per unit? We have four, while you have three – our space would be rather cramped.

Keito: I’m not obligated to make such compromises. Hurry up and get off the stage, intruders.

(He’s unshakeable – he’s already come up with a way to deal with the situation. Though the school may be corrupted, they’re still the unit with the most authority here – they’re invincible.)

(If they bring their "usual performance" to the stage, then we’ll lose our superiority we gained by catching them off guard.)

(Judging by how things have gone in the past, traditional performing arts are the strongest here – outlandish schemes won’t last forever.)

(Why couldn’t I have sensed this despite knowing something suspicious was happening behind the scenes? Did I lower my guard because of the long period of peace? Me?)

(I checked everything when I was getting changed in the dressing room earlier.)

(What’s happening…? “UNDEAD” wasn’t supposed to take part in the “S1” today, yet here they are.)

Keito: (When did they register for the dreamfest? I don’t remember accepting their application.)

(We’re talking about the problem children, the “Five Oddballs”, and their leader here – using illegal methods to do something like this would certainly be his specialty.)

(We’re now on the same stage against our will – it’s like fate. I need to investigate the details later, but… now isn’t the time for that.)

(“UNDEAD” has been properly registered as a participant in today’s “S1”, and it’s been officially accepted by the school on paper.)

(I can’t use my authority to make “UNDEAD” leave, either. Naturally, I’d also take that into account in the worst-case scenario.)

(But that would make matters worse. We, the Student Council – the embodiment of justice –will end up being the rulebreakers.)

(That’s the sort of picture that’s been set up – we’re shackled by our position and cannot move.)

Keito: (I have no choice but to force them to surrender with my own abilities. That’s what we can do.)

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve seen you. I really hope that things are going well for you wherever you might be right now. The Akatsuki’s got all of us running around right now and I wish they could have just let you join Kakuzu and me for this mission.

I’m doing well, but I really miss you. I can’t wait until one of us captures the next Jinchuriki and we can get back together. It might not be us completely in person, but it’s better than nothing. At least I can see your absolutely stunning face and hear that angelic tone that you always have once again.

Things have been rough without you. Kakuzu has been a little meaner than usual, but I think he’s just jealous of our love. How can I blame him tho? You’re the best thing that’s come into my life and he’s just mad that he doesn’t have that for himself.

I can’t wait until we all get back to the hideout. I can’t wait to finally be able to hold you in my arms. To finally be able to tell you in person how much I love you while I plant small kisses all over your beautiful features.

Darling, I’m basically just writing you this letter to tell you exactly how much I love you. At least as well as I can on a piece of paper, I’m much better with words in person.

It's some Akatsuki time, so what would happen if Obito, Pein, Konan, Sasori, Itachi and Deidara encountered their childhood friend/crush after going missing-nin?

Finally I get to write something about them!

Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, delusional thinking, paranoia, threatening, blackmailing, kidnapping

Meeting childhood friend after going missing-nin

Obito Uchiha

🔥Obito’s childhood friend must have been someone similar to Rin, meaning that they supported him and encouraged him even though he acted sometimes like a fool. But at that time he had his huge crush on Rin and only saw the s/o as a precious friend to him. Rin and them were probably even good friends themselves.

🔥Obito has some trust issues after seeing how Kakashi killed Rin so when seeing you after so many years again he didn’t know how to feel exactly. But as mentioned in the basic Hc’s for him he’s also pretty paranoid. You most likely didn’t recognize him because of his mask and change of attitude, but he recognized you. How could he forget the only person, besides Rin who had supported him?

🔥Surprisingly he didn’t kidnap you then and there because as mentioned he has trust issues and was unsure about how to feel. But he couldn’t kill you either so he just let you live, deciding to watch you at first. He needed to know if you had changed.

🔥But you hadn’t. You were still the supporting and caring person you had always been. This world hadn’t ruined you yet. And that’s when his paranoia kicked in. What if someone would hurt you? What if you would end just like him? What if the people you thought you could trust would kill you? All this crushing thoughts led him to kidnap you as soon as realizing that you still meant a lot to him.

🔥Obito doesn’t even has to be romantically obsessed with you when kidnapping you. He was at first just scared that something would happen to you and you would be taken from him just like Rin. I think he would get over time romantically obsessed with you because you are similar to Rin. He would probably even think that Rin herself sent you to him so someone would watch over him.

Pain

🌧I think his darling was friends with Yahiko and Konan and met him during the war when Konan brought him home to them, meaning that they also trained with him and the others with Jiraiya and there’s a good chance that they also were some of the very original Akatsuki members. So I think it’s possible that Nagato thought they were dead after the whole incident with Danzo because Tobi killed the members who wanted to help the three and the darling was under them and somehow survived.

🌧There is no day that passes by where Nagato doesn’t grieve over Yahiko’s death and the same counts for you. But he has at least Yahiko’s body left, but he and Konan never found your corpse. So when you suddenly appeared alive in his village he lost it. You on the other hand didn’t even notice that he was there at first. When you did it was too late.

🌧Pain kidnapped you then and there. What do you expect him to do when seeing the person he thought he had lost forever standing healthy in front of him? He’s on the paranoid side and knowing that you were still here drove him over the edge.

🌧He and Konan were both so relieved to see you again, to have their childhood friend again with them. You on the other hand were very confused to why they were acting like this and to what had happened. And they told you everything that had happened. Both of them wanted you by their side, but both of them also agreed that they couldn’t risk losing you. So you weren’t allowed to work for them. Or leave the tower you were kept in.

🌧Pain doesn’t have to be in love with you. Just the knowledge of having someone again with him who he thought was dead and who he grieved over for years is enough to make him a Yandere. But he might have had a small crush on you back then and the more he spends time with you, the more his feelings turn into something deeper. In such a scenario I can totally see Konan being a Yandere too, probably not romantically interested, but still.

Konan

🤍It would be the same like with Pein. Her darling, Yahiko and her were fighting during the war for their life together, later on joined by Nagato. The storyline would be pretty much the same. She saw you at that time as her best friend since she probably had a crush on Yahiko at that time.

🤍She probably saw you before you did. Konan was probably currently checking on the village when she saw you again. And at first she thought that she was seeing things. She was suspicious if you were really you and watched you for a while, wanting to make sure that it was really you. Konan also told Nagato about this, telling him that there was someone who looked just like you.

🤍And as soon as Konan realized that you were indeed her supposed-to-be-dead friend she instantly kidnapped you. Poor woman had already lost Yahiko and had thought for years that she had lost her best friend as well.

🤍Many things changed, she knows that. Nagato was just as happy as she was when hearing that you were indeed alive and back with them. It was like some part that they had lost years ago had suddenly returned with the knowledge that you were still under the living. And none of them is willing to take the risk to lose you ever again.

🤍Just like with Pein she doesn’t have to love you before to be a Yandere for you after finding out you’re still alive. But that can change, especially since so much years have passed by. There were some signs that she had feelings for Yahiko so I feel like if her darling was before especially close to him and also shared some similar character traits she would project the feelings she had for him on them. But she of course also loves you for you.

Sasori

🦂I feel like he would have to hold his childhood friend in a really high position in order to not kill them later on. His darling must be someone who he respects highly and who shares something with. So they probably also have a huge interest and fascination with puppets or are at least interested in some other sort of art. It’s also important that they were already really close to him before he lost his parents because he closed after this his heart. I think he would have to have some sort of small crush on them beforehand and already viewed them at that time as beautiful.

🦂Sasori is most of the time in his puppet and hates wasting time so he probably met you when he was on a mission and was fighting some shinobi. I feel like he has to see his darling in action and has to see some talent in them in order to acknowledge them enough to not kill them. He had seen you already seen you in his childhood days as someone pretty, but now that you were grownup he felt like you were the most beautiful thing he had ever layed his eyes on.

🦂Sasori was confused with why you suddenly plagued his thoughts so much as well as the fact why he felt something. He had let you live out of respect, didn’t he? So why was he watching you? Why was he following you whenever he had time? Sasori needed to sort his feelings out at first and watched you.

🦂But after admitting to himself that he was in love he kidnapped his darling, planning carefully and drugging them since he has a lot of medic knowledge. This was new for him since he thought he had perfected himself to not feel anything. But here you were, stirring long forgotten emotions up in him he thought he had burried away.

🦂Sasori needs to hold some sort of admiration and feelings for you beforehand or else he would just kill you and make a puppet out of you. For now he still has to learn how to handle this new discovered feelings he has for you. And there’s also a lot to catch up between the two of you and he is by any means curious about what has happened in your life during the time he was busy with other things. Now that he has officially gone mad for you he won’t even hide that he worships your body and uses it as a preference when making new puppets.

Itachi Uchiha

🍡Due to his father being a bit obsessed with power and the clan his darling has either to be an Uchiha themself or someone who is really talented, smart and strong. Itachi has a really busy life so I feel like someone who would just try to do normal things with him that every child/teenager in their age does would help him since he trains most of the time. In order to form later on an obsession with them he needs to have romantic feelings for them beforehand.

🍡Itachi is known as a traitor in the Leaf Village for killing his whole clan and discovered you probably on accident. It doesn’t have to be in a fight. Itachi knows that you’re strong. You might just sit somewhere in the forest or in a small crowed shop. That is all it would take to give him flashbacks and make him feel very lonely since both of you used to be very close. He would hide himself so you don’t see him. He knows you most likely hate him.

🍡Itachi wanted to look if you were doing alright at first. He wanted to ensure you were doing fine. But he didn’t leave even after knowing you were doing good. He stayed, watching from the distance. Seeing you brought warm memories back he had once shared with you. Watching you still acting with the “Enjoy your life, it’s yours!” attitude brought him back into how everything used to be.

🍡It takes some time for Itachi to become obsessed with someone so months might pass before he finally makes his move. He felt ashamed when he kidnapped you, using a genjutsu on you to minimize your resistance.

🍡Itachi knows that you have every reason to hate him. He kidnapped you and left you without any trace. Since you’re close to him you’re naturally also close to Sasuke and when he already left the village at that time you have even more reasons to blame him. But Itachi is a patient one. He gives you time to adjust before telling you the truth about what really happened.

Deidara

💥I can totally see that Deidara already had a huge crush on his s/o before he went missing. Similar to Sasori his darling has to be interested in some sort of art as well so he has something to talk about with them. The best would be if his darling was interested in the same sort of art he is. I feel like when they were young he was a huge show-off and already saw himself as his darling’s protector.

Meredith Sulez~The Vampire Diaries

Ugh my baby girl. So Meredith is this stoic, observant yet vulnerable latina girl who basically had to grow up quickly after her family was attacked by Klaus when she was three turning her into a half vampire. One of the things I love about her is the fact that Damon is legit unnerved because of her and she does not take his bs (or anyone’s for that matter.) Then she’s revealed to be a vampire hunter and managed to keep it secret from her best friends for years.

Yuna~Final Fantasy X/X-2

So here’s the thing I got into the Final Fantasy series (not counting the original FFVII because I honest to God forgot I had that game when I was younger) because of this girl. She flipped through the air with guns and I was in love. Yuna starts off as this young naive summoner ready to sacrifice her life for Spira to bring forth the Calm. Needless to say things don’t go as planned. In standard jrpg fashion we find out the religion of Yevon is a lie and of course Yuna in response gives one of my most favorite lines of all time: I will live with my sorrow, I will live my own life! I will defeat sorrow, in his place. I will conquer it. And I will do it without...false hope. By the second game she’s this fun loving yet still shy young woman who is now living her best life being a sphere hunter now on a journey to find her man.

Cristina Rosales~The Dark Artifices

Cristina is introduced wanting to help the fae because of the Cold Peace (and her family is close to faeries), being generally sweet and smacking dudes who have the audacity to call Emma a bitch. Then there’s the fact that she was latina like yours truly so I latched on to her like a lifeline. But then she’s also the introduction of the Rosales family who I came to love almost as much I as I love the Carstairs. Plus it’s Cristina, not Emma or Julian, who kills the new Unseelie king in the final battle.

Lula Mortiz~The Brooklyn Bruja Series

I love Alex but Lula captured my attention first with her description (I love grey eyes) and then just who she is. She’s not a fighter but a healer; she had everything in life and then got it taken from her which left her scarred physically, mentally, and emotionally. She overcomes it by learning to not keep looking in the past, loving herself and putting herself first.

Princess Yona~Akatsuki no Yona

This is girl right here has to be one of the best developed characters I have ever had the chance to experience. She goes from a sheltered naive princess to someone who not only learns to defend herself but also learns about and helps her subjects. Also, she’s the reincarnation of a freaking dragon god.

Aika Fuwa~Zetsuen no Tempest

I’m not gonna lie when Aika first appeared on my screen I wasn’t feeling her. She introduced being hella mean and it was uncalled for. But ho ho the show slowly reveals more about her and man by the ninth episode she became a fav. She’s a really powerful mage (y’all starting to see a pattern here?) who, because of her abilities was treated like dirt until she meets the two male leads. One of my most favorite characteristics of hers is the fact that she’s a troll/tease. Her trolling Hakaze then beating her up will forever be one of my favorite moments from this anime.

Nadia Caldani~The Spellcaster Trilogy

I feel in love with Nadia when I first opened Spellcaster. She’s basically a fledgling witch that gets entangled with the crap that is Captive’s Sound. One of the things I love about her is that she tries her best. She has to struggle with her abilities, she has power and potential but no one to teach her. But by the end you see her overcome her struggles (with the power of hate) but she still has a ways to go.

Kururu Sumeragi~Air Gear

Kururu, ah Kururu. She was a breath of fresh air amidst the females in this series. She wasn’t involved in the ridiculous slapstick comedy or most of the perverseness. Her design plus the fact that she’s shy endeared her to me. The best part of course is the fact that in middle of a manga about skates that can make you practically fly (among other things), she rides a normal bicycle. Which leads to one of the best scenes in the series; her freefalling with Ikki and making the Wind Regalia in less than three seconds.

Minako Arisato~Persona Series

This is definitely cheating but yeah. So same as Kururu above, Minako was an extreme relief to play as after playing P4A. She’s cute, bubbly, and not to mention her route let you get to know the male SEES members better; thus giving one of imo the best m/f friendships to blossom. Plus thanks to her Shinji’s alive. God how I wish we got more games set around her game’s possible universe.

How did you find out about anime?

I grew up with anime essentially. I just knew the times that they would air on t.v. and watch them, though I didn’t realize they weren’t cartoons like the other shows I also watched growing up; I could tell there was a difference, but yet didn’t know that the difference was what country the shows were from. As for when I found out anime was different and learned the word, I was around twelve years old, and I began to watch anime on my own for the first time ever. :)

What’s your Favorite Anime?

This is hard to answer. My favorite manga has been Fruits Basket for what feels like forever, but I realize the older I get, the more favorites I cling to as well. I really love Akatsuki No Yona/Yona Of The Dawn’s manga and FullMetal Alchemist as well. :) Those would probably be my favorite manga that I’ve either read the whole thing of or a good chunk of it. (I haven’t yet read Fruits Basket Another.) But my favorite anime tends to fluctuate, and I don’t tend to just give up on them. I really like Akagami No Shirayuki-Hime/Snow White With The Red Hair as well as obviously the anime to the manga above, because the anime is really, really good too. :) Specifically on Fruits Basket, the reboot, though I still need to finish watching Season Three. I’ve been wanting to catch up on Blue Exorcist’s manga, because I fell behind a couple of years ago, and I just really want to catch up. If you ask me this question in the next couple years, I’ll probably have other favorites to mention too. XD

Do you have a favorite J-music/K-pop group/singer?

No? I really love the music to the Fruits Basket openings/endings (even the original anime). I love Full Metal Alchemist’s openings and endings too. :) And I’m partial to Yona Of The Dawn’s at the moment. I haven’t rewatched the episodes lately, or at least not with the ability to hear the opening and ending.

When is your bday? And how old are you?

My Birthday’s in March, and I’m in my mid-twenties. (Sorry, I don’t like sharing personal stuff online, so this is the closest I’ll come to specifics.)

Currently, what is your favorite fandom anime?

Akatsuki No Yona and Akagami No Shirayuki-Hime. One is a little hard sometimes to interact with the fandom, but when great interaction happens is really great. So, it’s not a bad fandom, just the fandom experience is really, really scattered. Right now, I haven’t been reading fanfics or anything, but I see fanart and headcanons and am happy to see them. I love writing fanfiction a ton for both at the moment; I’ve just been busy and can’t quite sit down and read a fanfic at the moment. (Every now and again, I read one fanfic. But it’s kind of hit or miss mostly.) But both fandoms are full of amazing and creative ideas! Like I’ll be blown away by headcanons and theories and just amazing ideas in general. <3 <3 <3

Despite the ups and downs of Tumblr, what motivates you to stay here today and do your best?

I’m here to help friends with some projects mostly. And I’m a pretty new Tumblr user, one day I’ll probably go inactive, but I’m not sure, because I’ve made some friends here, and I really like talking to them. :) So, I probably will still talk to them, even if I’m inactive in other ways.

unmasked

A headcanon as to what Kakuzu’s life was before recruitment into the Akatsuki. Please keep in mind this background will heavily influence my interpretation of Kakuzu’s character and make personal relationships with him more than just difficult!

Tanned skin, dark eyes. Brunette. She was tiny, at least in comparison to him. Unassuming and normal all things considered.

– But, god, she was beautiful.

Perhaps it was her smile that had captured him at first, or that even, tranquil personality that had tamed the most fearsome temperament in all of Takigakure. He’d been young then, a mere Chuunin destined for great things – headed for the Council to bring their country to peace. However, seeing how easily that man could fly into a fit of rage… any sort of idea like that would be a long time coming.

His former squad had all been killed and friends had been hard to come by. Takigakure was poor, horribly so. Even their most capable warriors, their Elders and Council members – they could only grasp for anything to keep them afloat, often resorting to testing their own morals in order to survive. Family killing family, friends turning against friends. It wasn’t capable of fazing him any longer. His own mother and father had been swiped clean off the face of the earth, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t deal with.

Perhaps that had been why he had always seen himself more as a Doton user, instead of the affinity for water that he was in possession of. Stone was hard, immovable. It was like him. Cold one moment and burning like magma the next. Kakuzu wasn’t water. He wasn’t tranquil or beautiful. In fact, he was rather scarred and gruff looking.

It had always been like that. He’d been given a strong jaw from his father, broad shoulders and a built chest. Though it had always been his eyes that had scared people off the quickest. It hadn’t been his quick temper or his appearance, no… His eyes were unique in Taki, mint and maroon and harsh. It wasn’t rare for a single glance to send others running.

Not her. Certainly not her.

The library, as strange as it sounded, had always been a place of peace for the Chuunin. He could read and learn about the history of his village, about the beastly Choumei that had once plagued this land. It was relaxing, a welcomed silence from the blood and gore he had been forced to endure day after day protecting his village.

Though there had been one time his peace had undoubtedly turned on its head… A quiet day, just like any other, that those strange eyes had taken advantage of by drinking in information from dusty scrolls and thick manuscripts.

“They’re pretty.”

He’d jolted, not expecting a voice from someone he hadn’t sensed approached. Eyes had blinked once, twice, three times upon sitting fully upright, and his upper body turned toward the visitor that had interrupted his silence. Kiyomi. He would have never guessed exactly what the future would hold for them back then. At the time, he’d simply thought of it as an annoyance.

Kakuzu was silent, tanned lips pulling into a small frown as brows knit beneath his headband. What had she been talking about..?

“Your eyes, I mean. I’ve never seen anything like them.”

Maybe it was then that she’d completely captured his attention, especially after that miniscule smile that had accompanied her words. Kiyomi was a civilian nowhere near any sort of match for the shinobi, but still brave enough to approach him in his time of solace. – Or maybe she didn’t know. He hadn’t been certain at the time which he would have liked better. Nor would he really ever be certain.

Everything had seemed like such a blur from there. They’d gotten closer, able to call each other friends, and closer still. His temper that had once been known throughout all of Takigakure had all but vanished. Kakuzu had been well-mannered, irritable, but still capable of reeling in the beast that had once constituted his personality. If only for her.

He could have broken her without a second thought, as he had done to many in the past who had gone against him. And yet... he didn’t. She had made him happy – an emotion that few hidden among the waterfalls could say they had truly experienced.

Kakuzu had been able to make due supporting two. Extra missions here and there to make up for what she couldn’t had been enough then. He’d been thankful for the minor increase in salary with his promotion to Jounin. There had been one moment, though, that had sent his world to a screeching halt.

“I’m pregnant.”

He’d almost spat out his drink with the sudden information, eyes immediately falling to her stomach. Kiyomi’s belly had looked fine; there was no swell beneath her clothing, nothing at all that could have said that she was carrying a life inside of her. “—Shit.”

She had laughed at his reaction, had told him not to worry. He listened, saving every last scrap of worth that he had come into contact with for the next nine months. A family of three was a number that he could handle, which he did for quite some time. She had given him a little girl, a bundled gift that was the striking image of her mother. Thankfully. They named her Kishiko.

Four, however, was a number that weighed heavily on his shoulders. Again they were graced with one more addition to the family, a stocky boy named Hayase that seemed a combination of his parents. He had his mother’s eyes.

Mission after mission after mission had run the Jounin dry. Every spark of energy had been given to keep his small corner of the world afloat, but still he could call himself happy. They were content with what they had and grateful for every moment that Kakuzu was able to spend at home. Stress had given the shinobi a harsher stare and a perpetual frown. But still, she loved him.

There had been a single request from Takigakure’s finest warrior to the Village Council: to keep the stress of his work away from his family. They had listened for the most part, that is… Until the group of four had visited the small home on the outskirts of the village.

We have an assignment for you.

The knock on the door had been unexpected, even somewhat strange. Visitors to the household were all but nonexistent; no one dared to traverse this far out of the village simply to meet the one person who wouldn’t give them a welcome. His temper had changed, yes, but the way he acted in the face of annoyances was a different story. Kakuzu remained hostile to all that did not reside in his home, presenting a silent anger to all those he stood against. There had always seemed an air about him that churned and roared silently to itself, storming against the impending battles that were sure to come.

Until those eyes she had commented on all those years ago fell back to her. That typhoon fell into a quiet breeze that simply rippled against his thoughts. – Like water. It had been her and those brats that had turned the stone to liquid, like alchemists trying to turn granite to gold, only to fail and end up with mud.

Door having been thrown open, the last people that the Jounin had any expectation of visiting had interrupted him, had come to his home with the explicit request to stay away. How arrogant those fools were, hiding behind their masks as if their military status gave them any real power. He could have ripped them all in half before they could blink.

“We have an assignment for you.”

An assignment, Kakuzu soon realized, that would change the entirety of Takigakure forever if it was successful. It would have put his name in the history books that he adored and lost himself in. The killer of the first Hokage: Senju Hashirama.

The world was at war with one another and the surrounding waterfalls appeared to be in the center of it. Borders had been held firm against the Great Nations attempting to take Takigakure for its own, a massive feat for such a small and poor country. It was only logical to remove the biggest obstacle in the way of the Council’s goals. If Konoha fell due to the actions of their strongest Jounin, reason stated that the Shinobi War would crumble and the Five Great Elemental Nations along with it.

No one would see the spec of a country rising to power in their calculations. The balance would be shifted.

It could end.

Promises had been made to the Jounin as his assignment had been laid out for him. His family would be kept safe and out of harm’s way and the funds that he so desperately needed to keep them stable would be given without further question. They already knew what he wanted out of this and had dangled it in front of him like a carrot to a starving horse. It would benefit not only himself, but the livelihood of those he held so dear in ways that he would not be able to do for them otherwise. There had been only a small moment’s thought before Kakuzu accepted.

Kiyomi begged him not to.

It would only be later that the understanding of what he had to overcome in order to complete his mission would dawn on Kakuzu’s shoulders. This was a gamble he was nowhere near powerful enough to partake in, a gamble he’d been unknowingly led into with honey-laced words and ideals of grandeur.

– And so he left.

Senju Hashirama was a powerful leader of his country, stronger than even that of the famed Uchiha Madara. To be the master of two opposing forces, of both the ground and the sea… It took control and precision that would have been incomprehensible to someone that had only heard of the great Hokage. It was Kakuzu himself that had been forced to endure it.

Defeat had only been expected, but the remainder of his life… That was something that had not been put into his calculations. Takigakure was strict and ruthless; every shinobi of the village knew that without a doubt. He had expected humiliation and being stripped of his title. Exile and public execution were not out of the question either.

It had been the imprisonment of his family, of his wife and children that had taken him off guard. News of his failure had rippled through the village like water drops from the countless falls that dotted through the village before he had even returned. He had discovered his home burned to the ground, belongings lost to the flame as injuries that covered his body turned tanned skin a dirty crimson.

They were safe.

They had to be.

The beginning stages of panic and anger began to set in, energy drained limbs having blood stained fingers curled into tight fists. He had begun to tremble with a rage that hadn’t been allowed to let loose in years, lips pulling into a tight line and brows furrowing. Chakra was already dangerously low, yet as the silent orders from the Council were brought into effect Kakuzu was still capable of fighting off many of those Jounin he had once considered allies.

Bones cracked and blood stained the grass on his feet, yells of fury overtaking the clearing as his vision turned red.

They were safe.

The constant reminder, no matter how small of a shred of hope it had been, wasn’t enough to pull him into a state of control. He fought and fought until eyes began to blur, movements becoming sluggish as exhaustion began to catch up with his body and mind.

Having been overpowered at last, he had no choice but to be forced into a state of submission; head bowed to the ground and arms twisted behind him. Kakuzu found his chest heaving for air, heart pounding against his rib cage at even the mere prospect of the three most important people in his life being harmed because of his failure.

The Takigakure prison was where those traitors were kept, cuffed and kept in cells like animals to await their fate. He was no different, guards standing on either side of the expanse of bars that kept him contained in the small area he was allowed. How pathetic…

– But he needed to remain in control. For them.

It smelled of sins and traitors in there, an indescribable smell that burned at his senses and tore at the guilt buried deep in his gut. He had been too weak to follow through with his orders and the consequences had been accepted. Marks of traitors were tattooed into his forearms, four bands that he had found himself counting until his time was up.

Only the promise of their safety, the thought of them smiling had kept the beast of Takigakure at bay – for now. His eyes had sunken in after days of neglect, head bowed forward with locks of dirty brown obscuring his features. Hands had been secured behind his back but no attempt to escape from them had been made. He had merely sat, quietly, for hours upon hours. Reactions had tried to be pulled from him time and time again by the guards poking and prodding him with humiliating words, yet only a deep growl had been heard from the monster.

Three days had passed before he had moved, head lifting slowly with the instinct that something was wrong. Something was incredibly wrong. The guards had been talking among themselves as if their prisoner couldn’t hear, complaining about a public execution that they would miss. A woman. Two children; a boy and a girl.

He had felt his heart drop into his gut, denial washing through his nervous system in a flood. – But he knew. Those in association with traitors would be treated as traitors. Kakuzu’s wife and children would be murdered in cold blood in front of their village – the village that he had been loyal to and followed without question. Until now. No longer would he allow himself to be seen as a shinobi from this village.

The Council would no longer dangle promises of safety and prosperity in front of him. Their hearts would be in his hands.

It had started as a quiet fury, the waves of chakra pouring from his body like water from the falls having stunned the guards into silence. It grew swiftly, the red returning to his vision that he hadn’t truly seen in many years. The village had forgotten how fearsome their most powerful warrior could be when enraged beyond control; they would soon be reminded why they had feared him in the beginning.

Had that sound been him? It couldn’t have been. The noise that reached his ears must have been made by that of a monster, a terrifying roar that shuddered through him, trembling against the walls of his jail cell and into the very cores of those who were assigned to guard him. The memories of what had happened next would never truly be remembered in full detail; the fury that bubbled through his veins had blocked his senses in full.

There had been faint flashes of crimson, the scent of blood mingling through the air as each and every occupant of that prison had been ripped to pieces -- guards and their charges alike. He remembered the sounds of bones cracking, of stone crumbling under the force of his hands and the screams of those who begged for their lives. What right did they have to survive? This village had taken everything from him; they had taken his past, his present and his future in a single moment of trying to prove their superiority over the rest.

His hands had been stained red before the prison fell silent of the carnage, trembling breaths from his remaining anger the only sound heard.

But he could not stop. He ran until his muscles burned, every muscle aching in his body until Kakuzu’s only energy was a will to continue. Yet as the executioner’s clearing came into view all his eyes could focus on were shapes his mind refused to correlate to his family.

Bodies, three of them. Blood, pooled and saturated into the ground.

Kakuzu’s knees buckled underneath him.

Not a sound broke through the clearing. Silence buzzed in his ears until the noise felt like it began reverberating into his limbs, and finally into his chest.

The sun had long since fallen before he could rise.

The village had taken everything from him, so he would take everything from them. Only the most highly regarded shinobi of this country knew of their most prized technique; it was forbidden and dangerous. Kakuzu had read about it once, of the fearsome power of stealing the hearts of enemies to take their chakra and prolong a lifespan.

What a fitting end it would be for those fools. Those fools that had thought a warrior with everything to lose would be weak once it was lost.

No, they would discover that a warrior who had lost everything would sooner cut his own throat than lay down and accept that fate.

He didn’t care about the blood that had caked his clothes or his skin; his only goal was finding that scroll. The secret archives were no more secret than they were well-guarded. It seemed only the fear of discovery was what had kept thieves at bay, but his goal was clear. Whomever had found enough bravery within them to step before this monstrous beast was disposed of without a thought.

What he had not expected, however, was the pain. There was no wonder in Kakuzu’s mind why this was classified as a forbidden technique. The agony that had ripped through every muscle fiber was not of a normal scale. Only those with enough will in their bones and strength in their mind would be able to endure it.

Skin had been forced away from underlying flesh, torn and sewn back together by black tendrils that seemed to have a mind of their own. Muscle was gouged and replaced with the living threads to act as tendons and nerves. They had fully incorporated themselves into his body, leaving him weak and suffering both mentally and physically.

What would she have thought..? Bloody wounds now crossed back and forth against the skin she had loved to trail her fingers over. Kakuzu had become marred and ugly, a monster in every shape and aspect. It was Takigakure’s fault for bringing him to this point, for making him finally snap against their overwhelming rule. Each of them would suffer for their crimes against him, of their tyranny and iron fists.

He imagined their screams for mercy were the same as hers before her execution, the same as his children’s cries for help as their mother was slaughtered in front of them. These four would receive the same treatment. Four lives had been ruined by these four masked figures, one mask for each of them.

Still beating hearts had been ripped from their chests, newly acquired tendrils strangling each of the Council members ruthlessly until death itself happily took them into its arms.

Their hearts would be in his hands.

He felt no remorse for the poor souls that discovered the carnage the next morning, the sight of their leaders ripped limb from limb until they were hardly recognizable. Their masks had been taken and stitched to the very back of the man that had killed them.

They would be forced to watch the trail behind the monster they had created.

I see your pseudo is a reference to the lyrics of the snk songs (I guess ?), do you have any theory about that ? For the "unmapped place" in particular, it makes me think about what Armin says at the end of 131, about the undiscovered world outside the walls... I can’t really explain that but we’ll probably get a big twist by the end

Good eye, anon. It’s a phrase that appears in many lyrics of the songs. In Great escape, Name of love, Akatsuki no Requiem.

Let us meet again in the future, in the unmapped place...

To be honest, all the songs speak about a separation, like a goodbye “but we will meet again”.

The problem is to know who the “narrator” is. Who is speaking? Eren or Ymir?

Will it be Eren who will vanish? Is it him who is worried about his future and his truth? Is it him who claims that he will live forever although the proof of his existence will disappear?

I tend to think it’s Eren saying goodbye and wishing to meet them again in the future. It could be Ymir too. But...

Yuko Ando twitted these lines along with a live performance of Shock, the last ending.

May all people are freed from suffering and will sleep in peace.

Take back a second before he disappear.

And “Take back a second” sounds like “Time, please stop” in Name of love. There are plenty coincidences to think that the lyrics aren’t related to the future events in these last three chapters.

To me, it sounds like Mikasa asking for time to stop for Eren. But it’s my personal opinion. I think the last moments will be between both since the lines of the songs, especially Name of love, fit with Eren and Mikasa.

Since Isayama introduced the idea of an “Afterlife”, it could be about that. I do think it’s also related to what Armin said in ch. 131, the editorial lines of chapter 122 about a light the world can’t reach and the idea of not being able to know yourself in a dark world of the second ending.

At this rate, it’s already clear that the world they live in lacks of respect and love. It’s because of the hatred that walls were built in the first place and what truly bothers Eren is the idea of a world that rejects him. That’s in the end related to affections and love. “unmapped place” stays for “the unknown” what can refer either to the afterlife, the world without hatred/titans, the places they couldn’t see because they were caged.

And all of this could just point out to the possibility of them being reborn in the future too.

It’s still to early to know it actually so this all is just a wild guess.

Are you in the One Piece Fandom? Wait what fandoms are you in? Overlord?? Akatsuki No Yona?? (THAT ONE IS A GREAT READ AND WATCH TBH—its so underappreciated!!) Undertale?? (Throws hands up)

Uhhhhhhhhh depends on your definition of “in”. If by “in” you mean “have consumed the canon content enough to know what’s up” then I am in a lot less fandoms than you’d think. If you mean “have absorbed enough of the canon and fanon via osmosis to kinda get the gist and enjoy the fanfic while ignoring the actual source material” then I’m in … enough fandoms I literally can’t remember them all off the top of my head but here’s a list of what I can think of rn:

Transformers (Animated, Prime-verse, Bay-verse, SORTA G1 but only for like- two fanfics and a couple one-shots)

Final Fantasy XV (obviously)

Final Fantasy 7 (this is one of those osmosis ones, the only canon content I have actually owned is the Advent Children movie. Have watched Crisis Core walkthroughs tho)

How to Train Your Dragon (movies only)

My Hero Academia (manga, anime, and vigilantes but I’m not up to date so no spoilers pls)

Katekyo Hitman Reborn (osmosis that led to watching some of the show. The fanfics are better. Hands down. Still glad the show exists tho, otherwise the fanfic would not.)

Harry Potter (solely via crossovers, I don’t tend to enjoy straight HP fanfic, but yeeting Harry into fandoms I do know is funny)

Naruto (I have watched exactly three eps of the original and up to the Diedara mocking Naruto with Gaara’s body in Shippuuden. Everything else is pure fandom Osmosis.)

Boruto (counting this as a separate thing because Naruto fans tend to be mean over the show (????). Which is a shame cause I adore it. Ninja school/youth slice of life with end of the world drama thrown in for flavor? Heck yeah. Also Mitsuki is My Bby Boi™ and I will hear no dissent)

Akatsuki No Yona (anime, slowly collecting the manga, it is The Best™)

One Piece (pure fandom osmosis. Have watched maybe the earliest eps before I got a headache from the animation/voice acting, after that I quit and live in fanfic only)

Undertale (have never played the game, no desire to, have absorbed plot through wiki entries and fanfic osmosis. Mostly I just adore the concept of a character who knows about save points and uses them for good or evil, as well as the whole “different runs” thing and the potential Angst and Hurt/Comfort having a Frisk with multiple runs under their belt could bring. Also Papyrus and Sans are the cutest things and I love them even though I hate skeleton characters as a general rule).

Sword Art Online (this is the anime that got me into fantasy anime. Period. My Fairy Tail fanfic would not exist without this anime making me interested in non-Case Closed and Detective School Q anime. SAO Progressive Light Novels are *chef’s kiss*.)

Log Horizon (anime is fun. I like the more political/economic take that makes it so different from SAO. Also the potential Shenanigans between Adventurers and Landers and the Lander POV potential is cool).

Star Wars (I have watched all the movies at least once barring Rise of Skywalker so no spoilers, am working through older Clone Wars seasons and gleefully have enjoyed Rebels and several of the games. I do NOT write for this fandom as a general rule because I have no desire to get involved in the flame wars, especially since the original trilogy was not my entry point? So I actually really enjoy a lot of the characters and shows outside the original trilogy and apparently my ability to like content that isn’t *raises imaginary holy grail* “the OG trilogy” is a crime against Star Wars and nature and possibly humanity. Let me enjoy my blind jedi and his crew of misfit pseudo-kids you puritans. Also Rey.)

Fairy Tail (anime, have yet to watch the last season, love this show with all my heart).

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (have yet to watch more than a few eps on the show, for all its on my reading list, so most of what I know is fanfic osmosis).

Fruits Basket (I … actually have not read fanfic of this? But I adore the books with all my heart and am so stoked to see the remade anime).

Case Closed/Magic Kaito (anime and fanfic. Treating these as the same since they’re in the same universe and spot of timeline, just have different MCs and premises).

Detective School Q (My first anime! Thank you youtube for the collection of pirated anime eps I got to binge before they all got deleted. As far as I am aware, there is no fandom still living for this show, which is a shame because it was good).

Rurouni Kenshin (the original anime! Never got past the arc with the burned villain but I still enjoyed it up to that point. No idea what the arcs after it are like. Don’t really care.)

Hobbit/LOTR (read the Hobbit, have watched all the movies. AU fanfics ftw.)

Bleach (this … is pure fanfic osmosis. I blame @wolfsrainrules @north-peach and @akaluan they got me curious. Still a little iffy on the show itself but like- I enjoy the fanfic. I’m a sucker Akaluan’s Dragon Eclipse fanfic especially.)

Princess Tutu (haven’t been in the fandom in forever? But I have a few fav fics and the show is *chef’s kiss*).

Voltron: Legendary Defender (started with the fanfics out of accident and curiosity, then hopped over to the show because the crossover potential it had with TF got me interested. Am currently in the second season so pls no spoilers).

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (show, fanfic, I enjoy crossovers. Someone did the world’s most epic TF:P crossover with this show and I have loved it ever since.)

MCU (osmosis that led to watching the movies. I think I liked all of the ones I watched barring Guardians of the Galaxy and Antman. Tellingly, I have made a point not to watch Endgame, Infinity War, GoG 2 or Antman 2. I can tell that the first two are just- no. I haven’t seen a fandom go up in fire that fast in years I have no desire to experience WHY.)

Edit: AVATAR. Why did I forget Avatar: The Last Airbender? hgdhgf. Anyway I like both A:TLA and Korra.

Uhhhh that’s all I can think of atm. I’m definitely missing some but yeah. Brief rundown of fandoms I am able to at least hold a basic conversation about and a brief bio of how/why I know them.

Any chance you have a list of Naruto episodes that mainly focus on Sasuke? I kinda want to rewatch, but only remember the arc with Sasuke vs 5 kage/Dei/Ita/Danzo.

Not right on hand, no, but I can comb through and let you know which parts I tend to watch when I miss him! Prologue - Land of Waves

There’s pretty decent focus on him for the first part basically up until he passes out in the Forest of Death. Episodes I like to rewatch a lot for Sasuke specifically are 3-5, and 16, which is where Sasuke sacrifices himself protecting Naruto (I usually prefer to read the Zabuza arc bc I feel like the battles drag out too long in the anime). A more comprehensive list would probably be like… 3-7 (one of Sasuke’s first battles with the Demon Brothers is there), I really don’t like watching Zabuza’s battle with Kakashi in the anime but episode 8 has Naruto and Sasuke tag-teaming to help free him, episode 11 and maybe (?) 10 have Sasuke and Naruto eating a lot and training and etc., and then 12-16 cover Sasuke fighting Haku and Naruto eventually showing up to help. Sasuke wakes up and they ask Kakashi some insightful questions in 19.

I don’t really rewatch this one a ton but episode 22 is the Rock Lee Beats Sasuke’s Ass ep, 24 is the Sasuke Figures Out You’re Supposed to Cheat on the Chuunin Exams Test ep which I enjoy personally but also don’t really watch a lot, 28-30 for the Sasuke vs Orochimaru stuff in the Forest of Death, 33 for Sasuke going sicko mode on the Sound ninja, 39 for Sasuke using Lee’s jutsu to beat that one guy’s ass in the prelims, 66-68 is Sasuke vs Gaara but I don’t rewatch this a lot and prefer reading it in the manga bc the anime drags it out way too much imo, I actually don’t rewatch their confrontation in the forest much either but I think (???) it’s eps 75 & 76.

I watch 81-85 a lot. That’s where Itachi returns to the Village and we get our first real bit of insight into Sasuke’s past– this is usually one of the first things I’ll rewatch when I’m missing Sasuke. He’s in a coma for the rest of the arc, though. I also watch 101 which is the Kakashi’s mask filler ep and doesn’t really focus on Sasuke particularly but it’s fun watching him freak out.

Sasuke Recovery Mission

107-110 cover Naruto and Sasuke’s rooftop fight and Sasuke making up his mind to leave the Village. A lot of things about this piss me off a lot lol so I actually don’t rewatch a lot. 128-135 is Sasuke and Naruto’s battle at the Valley of the End. There’s a lot of Uchiha lore embedded here and I like his fight with Naruto so I rewatch this battle a lot.

I don’t watch any of the filler after this.

So to summarize, the Sasuke parts of original series that I can recall are: 3-5, 6-8, 10-15, 16, 19, 22, 24, 28-30, 33, 39, 66-68, 75-76, 81-85, 101, 107-110, 128-135.

Kazekage Rescue Mission

The first episode teases Sasuke’s later return and is also just generally nostalgic if you’re into that. I also just like the opening for this arc lol.

Tenchi Bridge Reconnaissance Mission

Sasuke’s first appearance in part two and his reunion with Naruto are episodes 51-53. I don’t rewatch these a lot mainly just because I rewatched them all the time when I was 14 and got bored of it.

Itachi’s Pursuit Mission/Master’s Prophecy and Vengeance

Finally good stuff. Episodes 113-114 cover Sasuke killing Orochimaru– I prefer reading this in the manga to watching it so I don’t actually rewatch it a lot. In 115 Sasuke picks up Suigetsu and the episode is a bunch of filler stuff that wasn’t in the manga but it’s fun so I rewatch that one a lot. 116-118 are where he picks up Karin and Juugo and forms Taka which is *chef kiss* golden content. 121-122 are Taka looking for Itachi… I find this stuff kinda boring so I don’t rewatch it so much unless I’m in a particular mood. 123-126 cover Sasuke’s battle with Deidara, which is awesome, but I prefer reading it in the manga, and Taka taking care of him, which is very cute… 135-138 and the beginning of 139 are Sasuke’s battle against Itachi, which is also golden content that I rewatch a lot (though admittedly I tend to just type “Sasuke vs Itachi” into YouTube and watch it there than actually watch the episodes for some reason). 140-141 are Sasuke finding out the truth about the Uchiha clan– I think along with episodes 81-84 in the original series and Sasuke vs Danzou these are the episodes I rewatch the absolute most. 143-144 are Sasuke and Taka joining the Akatsuki– 144 specifically is the Taka vs Killer Bee fight which I watch a lot.

Pein’s Assault/The Two Saviours

If I recall correctly, episode 152 is where Sasuke speechifies at Tobi and tells him he doesn’t care if people see him as childish, he wants to destroy the Leaf, blah blah. This speech is real good but I tend to read it in the manga– I’ll bold it anyway though because I read it a ton.

Five Kage Summit/The Assembly of the Five Kage

You mentioned this one in the original ask but since we’ve come this far anyway I’ll say the parts I like. I love this arc, it’s definitely one of my favourites in the entire series. I think 202 is where Sasuke fights all the Samurai, 203 is where Sasuke meets Gaara again and they fight (lmfao I opened the episode on Crunchyroll to check that I’m thinking of the right one and look where I stopped last time)

Maybe I like SasuGaa? Anyway, in 204 Sasuke ditches Taka to go after Danzou, then Danzou vs Sasuke and Sasuke’s betrayal of Karin is 208-211, which I mentioned above is among the like, top three things I watch the most when I’m missing Sasuke, along with Itachi vs Sasuke in both original series and Shippuden. 212-216 are Team Seven finding Sasuke again and Sakura trying to kill him and Naruto and Sasuke talking to each other in their heads and blah blah… the only part of this I tend to watch a lot is Sasuke’s interaction with Kakashi because I find this part really annoying. In 220 Sasuke gets eye surgery.

Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax/The Great Ninja War - Sasuke and Itachi

Crunchyroll’s not super great about breaking the next parts into seasons and I’m lazy so I’m basically just gonna talk about the rest of the war arc. I know it’s a million parts long but I just think of it all as “The War Arc” anyway.

Sasuke’s out cold recovering from surgery from most of the beginning of the War arc and doesn’t wake up til 331 (there’s also good Taka content in this ep– Suigetsu and Juugo looking for Sasuke, and Karin breaking out of jail). He catches up with Itachi in 333 - I rewatch this one a lot but I’m more likely to reread it. 334-335 is Sasuke and Itachi vs Kabuto, and 336 is too but it’s more Kabuto-focused. Focus comes back to Sasuke and Itachi for 337-339– and 339 is where Itachi says the “I will love you forever” line. I rewatch that episode a ton. In 341, he meets up again with Suigetsu and Juugo and brings back Orochimaru– I tend to reread this a lot in the manga but not watch it. 366-370 are when he gets Orochimaru to bring back the Hokage, but most of it is Hashirama talking, so the Sasuke-focused ones are 366 & 370 (I tend to rewatch this entire part a lot though because I love the Hashirama & Madara stuff). In 373 he joins back up with Team Seven and says he wants to be Hokage and blah blah blah. I think that’s basically the last episode of the anime I actually bother watching sometimes. I thought about combing for the Team Seven stuff where they’re fighting aliens and the prophecy and whatnot, but everything is really fucking scattered after this part and I tend to just skip around for Sasuke content in the manga because I can’t deal with the anime, especially because this is around where the anime famously released a new episode weekly for a year and only eight of those episodes weren’t filler. The Naruto vs Sasuke stuff is 474-479 and a whole metric ton of it is filler that makes me sick to my stomach so I never watch it, but I figured I’d mention it anyway.
