Grief is a weird thing.

It comes and it goes. It’s a dull pain in your chest, it’s burning eyes and a closed throat. It’s fond memories, regrets, broken promises, and a future that will never be.

It’s love. So much love that it hurts. It’s a special kind of pain that just won’t go away.

This past year has been the harderst of my life. My grandpa was diagnosed with terminal cancer in April, he was given 6 to 8 months to live, and died suddenly one morning of 6 months ago, because of a stroke. We thought we had more time with him, just a few more months, I promised him I would see him soon, but it never happened.

And 3 days ago, not even 6 full months after his passing, my grandma died of Alzheimer, after weeks of pain.

I’m not sure why I’m writing this here. Maybe I don’t want them to be forgotten. Maybe I want everyone to know that I loved them so, so much, because I couldn’t tell them one last time and I hope they knew. Maybe I’m just trying to grieve, because sometimes the pain is so strong I feel like I can’t breathe.

I just hope they know how much I love them, I wish I could’ve told them one last time.

sweet sixteen. oof. this one’s a doozy. what i wouldn’t give to be spending this day right by your side. though, in the years to come, more birthdays than you can count will be spent together, with ice cream and dr. pepper and cheesy ass heterosexual romantic comedies and raspberries in the dark. (‘raspberries in the dark’ sounds like a sex thing but you know what i mean)

so, claire elizardbeth. i love you. despite how you say neverland like the netherlands. and how your eyes are bluer than the philliest of lesters. and how you fall madly in love with dudes that look like crushed red bull cans. and how many times ‘anna, you were right’ has been typed up, yet still seems to shock you over and over again. i couldn’t dream of a better you.
