CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube

basically an electron gun fires electron beams at a phosphorescent surface to light it up. unlike a modern LCD or LED display, they have no fixed resolution as the amount of dots (not pixels) possible depends on the capability of the electron gun.

this also means you could lower resolution to increase refresh rate (as it draws dot-by-dot lower res is faster to draw so more complete frames can be drawn per second) without the image looking awful. perfect for FPS games !!!

they're very inefficient (and dangerous to open up due to high voltages and large capacitors) but very cool pieces of technology. oh and they weigh A TON.

ALICE DYER, MY ABSOLUTELY BELOVED!!! Kick Sam to the curb, I could treat you right!!! I appreciate your incessant need to joke, especially at inappropriate times!!! I think the way I draw Alice is pretty different from how other people see her, but I had a really clear image of her since episode one and I will stand my ground 💪💪 I tried to capture the look of hair that has been dyed a million times even though the first color never really washed out, but my details are always getting lost in the shadows :[

My commission are opennnnn as always! I do commissions in Medibang because it works better with my laptop and improves my workflow, but I’m open to doing textured stuff like this in Krita is you’re willing to pay like $5 extra. We can work things out 👍
